John
17:1 (NIV). After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven and
prayed:''Father, the time has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may
glorify you.''...... Thoughts on This Verse... John 17 is one of the
most moving chapters in all the Bible. Jesus knows he is going to die.
He knows he is spending his last few hours before his death with
disciples who do not understand what he is about to do and why he is
about to do it. Jesus has two key goals in mind as he prepares himself,
and his disciples, for their life ahead without him. He wants them to be
one so they can remain strong and influence the world for God. He wants
what he does to bring glory to the Father. While he faces humiliation
and abandonment, his desire is to bless others. We are going to face
hardship. What will be our goal? Hmm, no wonder we are reminded to fix
our eyes on Jesus and follow his example.

TODAY'S VERSE

"The LORD lives! Praise to my Rock! May the God of my salvation be exalted!"
Psalms 18:46 (NLT)


TODAY'S THOUGHT

What a wonderful proclamation. What a felt reality. I can hear David
proclaiming, "The Lord Lives!" And why not? He had spent His whole life
trusting God. He trusted God when he was attacked by a bear and wild
animals as a shepherd. He trusted God when he slew Goliath. He trusted
God when being pursued by Saul. God delivered from them all so he starts
this Psalm by saying, "I love you, LORD!" He then gives the reason for
his exuberance. He writes, "The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my
savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield,
the power that saves me, and my place of safety." His proclamation was
similar to Peter's revelation when Jesus asked Peter, "What about you?
Who do you say I am?" Peter answered Jesus saying, "You are the Christ,
the Son of the living God." Our God is alive. Christ rose from the dead.
Let it stir your soul! A famous hymn says it best, "I serve a risen
Savior, He's in the world today. I know that He is risen no matter what
man may say. I see His hand of mercy, I hear His voice of cheer, And
just the time I need Him, He's always near. He lives! He lives! Christ
Jesus lives today! He walks with me and talks with me along life's
narrow way. He lives! He lives! Salvation to impart! You ask me how I
know He lives? He lives within my heart!" Today, rejoice that the Lord
lives!



TODAY'S PRAYER

Dear Jesus, how I praise You for Your resurrection. How I praise You
that You are alive in my life. Thank You that I can put all my trust in
You. I love You, my Lord and my Savior.

TODAY'S AFFIRMATION & MEDITATION
-The Lord Lives!
Spend time worshipping God. Meditate on His presence. Celebrate His
power and majesty. Thank Jesus for His relevance in your life. Praise

Psalm
37:5-6 (NIV). ''Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will
do this: He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn, the
justice of your cause like the noonday sun.''...... Thoughts on This
Verse... How much do you trust the Lord? Better yet, how much of
yourself have you entrusted to the Lord? We have focused the last
several days on the promised blessings the Lord longs to give us. Yet in
his wisdom, God has chosen to make the release of many of these
blessings dependent upon our trust in him and our asking of him. As long
as we grip the steering wheel of our life, it is hard to let God take
us in the direction of his blessing and his will. I saw a bumper sticker
recently that put it this way:''If God is your co-pilot then you had
better switch seats!'' Committing our way to the Lord is offering our
lives to him to do his work, to receive his blessing, and to know his
presence. So what are you waiting for?

At The Table Of The Lord

"Incline your ear, and hear my words, and apply your heart to my

teaching. - Proverbs 22:17. (NRSV).

What did the writer of Proverbs have in his mind when recording these words? Why should we read them today? Why should we hear them and place them in our hearts?

It seems that God was using the writer of Proverbs to encourage us to read
his Word and apply its principles in our daily lives. In our darkest
skies, God gives us opportunities to read what he has said, which will
help us to get through our hard times and understand more about what is
happening to us. Numerous are the ways God tugs at our heartstrings. We
might be hard of hearing, or our hearts unreceptive to the wisdom of
these words. But unwillingness on our part does not lessen God's concern
towards His creation. He invites us to turn to Him in time of trial. He
invites us to open our hearts to his teaching.

Think of it this way: from a kitchen come the aromas of good home

cooking, those tantalizing smells that make the palates jump. We rush to
the table to receive, enjoy, and be satisfied. Now let's look at God's
Word as a great table filled with rich foods and wonderful aromas. God
invites us to his table. We rush to be satisfied eternally, to be fed
forever, and to be filled with teachings of eternal value for each
situation in our lives here and now. He invites to walk and talk and sup
with him at his table. God grant that each of us will be successful in
answering God's invitation, and being part of his great plan.

Prayer: Our
Loving Heavenly Father, thank you for coming to fulfill the purpose of
creation. Establish for us a place at your table, and help us to become
willing participants in your wonderful plan. Thank you for hearing and
answering my prayer. Gratefully, In Jesus Loving Name I Pray, Amen."

Proverbs
29:25 (NIV). Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts
in the LORD is kept safe....... Thoughts on This Verse... Jesus told us
not to fear other human opponents (Lk. 12:4-5). When we try to please
others, when we fear what others may say or do to us, we place ourselves
in a position of great vulnerability. Our lives no longer remain our
own. We become captive to what others think, want, or threaten. We are
to trust only the LORD and reverence him. In God is our safety, both
now, and forevermore.

What are you still Carrying?

"If you are
angry, don't sin by nursing your grudge. Don't let the sun go down with
you still angry get over it quickly; for when you are angry you give a
mighty foothold to the devil". - (Ephesians 4:25-

26, TLB).

The story or
legend is told how two monks, when traveling back to their monastery in
inclement weather, came to the fjord of a river.

There they met a
young woman who was afraid to cross the river. Seeing her dilemma one
of the monks offered to carry her across the river on his back which
offer she accepted.

Later that
evening the monk who didn't help the young lady accused the monk who did
of breaking the rules of their monastic order. "You know we are to have
no dealings with the opposite sex," he said, "and you were wrong in doing what you did."

To which the other monk quietly replied, "I carried her only across the river. You are carrying her still."

When we fail to
resolve our anger and keep nursing our grudges, we not only give a
"mighty foothold to the devil," but we also hurt ourselves, damage our
physical well-being, and do serious harm to our close
relationships. As another has said, when we nurse our grudges and fail
to forgive those who have hurt us, "It's like drinking poison and
waiting for the other person to die."

So is there
anything you are still carrying? Any grudges resentments bitterness
hurts unresolved grief? If so, I urge you to follow the advice of the
scriptures resolve these issues

right away. And, if necessary, see a qualified counselor to help you to do so. Don't carry a heavy heart through out your life.

Prayer: "Our
most loving Heavenly Father, thank you for the advice you give in your
Word, the Bible, to help us live healthy,fulfilling, and meaningful
lives”and maintain quality relationships. Help me to live by your
instructions. Thank you for hearing and answering my prayer. Gratefully,
In Jesus loving Name I Pray, Amen."

Romans
14:1 (NIV). Accept him whose faith is weak, without passing judgment on
disputable matters..... .. Thoughts on This Verse... Our life in Christ
is such a blessing! We welcome new Christians into our fellowship to
share that blessing. We don't bring them in to scrutinize their past
failures or the current struggles, but to bring them into the love of
God's family. God has welcomed us graciously and compassionately. Let's
do the same with new Christians.

TODAY'S VERSE

TODAY'S THOUGHT

Paul is writing about two marks of a healthy Christian, faith and love.
But is not just faith and love, it is faith that is growing more and
more and a love that is increasing. But what is a growing faith and
love? A growing faith is one that trusts God more and more. It is one
that believes God for great and mighty things. It is a faith that trusts
even when circumstances scare us to the core. It is a faith that knows
God and spends time understanding His love and power. It is a faith that
is exercised in prayer and patience trusting God with every
circumstance. And growing love, what of that? It is a love that is
steeped in action. A love that reaches out to those in need. A love that
drops superficiality and replaces it with genuine concern. A growing
love is sacrificial and selfless. It is a love that forgives and then
forgives again. It is a love prefers others above itself. The Apostle
Peter also writes that we are go grow in our faith and love. In his
letter he says, "For if you possess these qualities in increasing
measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in
your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ." Today, ask God to help you
increase in your faith and love.

TODAY'S PRAYER

Dear Father, help me exercise more faith. Help me increase in my love.
more people. Help my faith and love grow as I serve You. In Jesus' name.

TODAY'S AFFIRMATION & MEDITATION
-I am growing in my faith and love
Picture yourself before God needing more faith and love. He looks at you
welcoming you to come and fill up with more faith and more love. You
bow before Him and He touches you. You feel His love flow through you.
You can sense that your faith is increasing. "More dear Jesus" you cry,
"More!" God continues to fill you and afterward you are ready to go and
use this increased faith and love. As you visualize yourself leaving, in
order to live out your life with this increased love and faith, you
sense a deep satisfaction and affirm, "I am growing in my faith and
love!"

all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take
the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove
the speck from your brother's eye.''...... Thoughts on This Verse...
Finding fault in someone else is so easy for most of us. Finding fault
in ourselves is much trickier. Jesus reminds us that we must deal with
the shortcomings and sins in our own lives before we start telling
others how to live. Seems pretty simple, doesn't it? But we all know it
isn't

Wisdom And Understanding

TODAY'S VERSE

"For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped
praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his
will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. "
Colossians 1:9 (NIV)


TODAY'S THOUGHT

What an exciting prospect. Paul was asking God to fill the Colossians
with the "knowledge of His will". But it wasn't some instantaneous
filling. It wasn't an "insight" pulled out of thin air. Paul said that
the knowledge of God's will was the result of spiritual wisdom and
understanding. What do you wonder about? What about your future has you
stymied? What direction are you in need of? You could ask God to simply
give you His will, but according to this passage you really need to ask
God to impart to you spiritual wisdom and understanding. Why? Because
God's will is not that simple. Most times it is not a single answer that
we need. Rather it is a series of answers. "Go this way" will not
suffice. It is more like a long distant trip. You have to navigate
across many highways making many decisions about direction along the
way. God's wisdom and understanding give us the ability to discern each
step. Today ask God to fill you with the knowledge of His will by giving
you all the spiritual wisdom and understanding you need. You can begin
to pursue that wisdom and understanding through, prayer, meditation and
studying the word of God.



TODAY'S PRAYER

Father thank You that You can make Your will abundantly clear to me
through spiritual wisdom and understanding. Help me today as I meditate,
pray and read Your word to get all the wisdom and understanding that I
need.

TODAY'S AFFIRMATION & MEDITATION
-God Directs My Path
Visualize yourself at the beginning of a long journey. As you begin to
impart on this journey picture yourself packing your suitcase. You look
around and see a large bag of Spiritual Understanding. Picture yourself
taking the bag and putting it in your suitcase. Feel the sense of relief
as you know that you are taking Spiritual Understanding with you. Next
see the box of Wisdom on the floor. You bend over, pick it up and put it
in the suitcase. "Ahhh". You breath a sigh of relief as you know you
have wisdom for the journey. Bow before God and commit your life journey
to Him. Ask Him to help you use Spiritual wisdom and understanding to
know and to do His will. Affirm with a deep joy that God will direct
your path.

John 17:18 (NIV). ''As you [God] sent me [Jesus] into the world, I have sent them into the world.''.... .. Thoughts on This Verse... We are not here by accident! God has a purpose and plan for us. Jesus has sent us into the world to touch it with his redemptive love and make a positive impact on it for him.

TODAY'S VERSE "You are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God's very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God." I Peter 2: 9 (NLT)
TODAY'S THOUGHT God cares about the way we live. Why? Because it the evidence that others see about God. Many people will never read the Bible but they will read our lives. They may not hear about the Gospel according to Matthew, Mark, Luke or John, but they will know the Gospel according to you! You see, Peter wrote that you are part of a chosen people. You are a Royal Priest of Almighty God. You are part of a Holy Nation. Because of this you have the privilege and the responsibility, to represent your King. You are to show others the goodness of God by the way you live. It is your life that silences the skeptics that would bring dishonor to God. So do you have to be perfect? Does this mean that you make a mask and fake your good behavior? No, people are not looking for pretence or phoniness. They want to see an honest, real and authentic life. A life where you admit when you are wrong. Where you fall but get up and try again. Where your faith is weak
but you surrender to the love of God anyways. God chose you. Now it is your turn. Choose to live for Him.
TODAY'S PRAYER Father, thank You for choosing me. Thank You for making me a Royal Priest, a chosen person, part of a Holy nation. Help me to live accordingly. I cannot do it by myself. I need Your help to live the kind of life that would honor You. Help me to that end I pray. In Jesus' name. AMEN

Proverbs
10:29 (NIV). The way of the LORD is a refuge for the righteous, but it
is the ruin of those who do evil....... Thoughts on This Verse... What
is your source of security, hope, and protection? The way of the Lord is
a refuge, a strength, a place of security! Let's make sure we live our
lives there, knowing that God's commands and demands for righteousness
are for our protection as well as his glory.

Unconditional Love

separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
Romans 8:1, 38-39 (NIV)


TODAY'S THOUGHT

It is so hard for me to accept the love that God has for me. I want to
believe that He loves me with an unconditional love and then I slip up. I
fail to do something right, make a mistake, get someone mad at me and
my life starts to unravel. The lies begin to fill my head and I find
myself hopelessly loss in a system of "works" gone awry. A tyrannical
voice banishes me to annihilation. After all, I have fallen from
perfection. Does this sound extreme? For so many it is not. We strive
for perfection, saying God loves us but in reality we do everything we
can to make sure He will love us. We fear that He will reject us if we
commit the "unforgivable sin". The sad truth is, in our perfectionist
mindset, every sin is unforgivable. We need to see this for what it
is--a lie straight from the pit of Hell itself. The truth is, there is
nothing we can do to have Jesus love us one ounce more. At the same
time, there is nothing we can do to have Jesus love us one ounce less!
Paul's declaration cuts through our chains, "There is now no
condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus!" Let the truth of
today's passage set us free-nothing, not even our own mistakes, can
separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Today, settle it once and for all. Accept the unconditional love that
God has for you.



TODAY'S PRAYER

Thank You, dear Jesus, for Your death and resurrection. Thank You for
becoming the sacrifice for my sin. Thank You for Your salvation and Your
unconditional love for me.

TODAY'S AFFIRMATION & MEDITATION
-God's love for me is unconditional
It's not that we doubt the love of God, it is hard for us to believe
that we are lovable. Quiet yourself and meditate on God's love for you.
He loves you, not because you have done good, not because you have
obsessed over sin and begged Him to love you. He loves you because He
created you and you are lovely to Him. He loves you more than a parent
could ever love their child. There is nothing you can do to change that.
Sense His affection for you. Feel the warmth of His loving gaze upon
you. You are His child and you are lovely to Him. Affirm the fact that
God's love for you is unconditional.

1 John 4:17 (NIV). In this way, love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment, because in this world we are like him....... Thoughts on This Verse... Because of what Jesus has done for us, when we live for God lovingly, we can have confidence in the face of death and before God at judgment. Our confidence is not in our efforts, but in our Savior. His love has not only redeemed us; it has changed us. His love is not only a gift to us, but it is a gift through us. We can be confident because we know that Jesus' life is present in us until we can stand with him in the presence of our Father.

TODAY'S VERSE "So now you must show sincere love to each other as brothers and sisters. Love each other deeply with all your heart." I Peter 1:22 (NLT)
TODAY'S THOUGHT Love is the direct result of knowing Christ. He loves us so much that loving others is a by product of His example. He paid a terrible price that we could have our sins forgiven. And what does God ask for in return? Does he ask us to swim the ocean? Walk across the longest desert? Climb the highest mountain? No, He asks that we love one another. Why would this be so important? Because our love for each other is a testimony of His love. Our love for others proves His life changing power is real. In John 13:35 Jesus said, "Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples." The power of the Holy Spirit alive in our heart is never more noticeable then when we are loving another person. Do you know Christ as your personal Savior? Is He the Lord of your life? If so, prove it to the world by sincerely loving those people around you. Love them deeply with all your heart.
TODAY'S PRAYER Father, thank You for Your love for me. Thank You for Your grace and mercy in my life. Help me love those others that you have around me. Might my sincere love for others permeate my life so that others might recognize that You are alive. In Jesus' name. AMEN
TODAY'S AFFIRMATION & MEDITATION -Because of Christ, I am free to lover others Love is a verb. It is action. Today you can begin to love others by asking God to help you "pre" love them. Ask God to bring to your mind some people you are having a hard time loving. Picture them. Ask God to show you what has impeded you from loving them. Listen for His instructions and He will show you what to do. Let God work in your mind and heart as you picture yourself taking corrective action. Next invite Jesus to come and help you love the person. Visualize yourself, with the help of Jesus, act lovingly toward the person. Feel yourself let go and be filled with the love of God. Sense His love flow through you to the other person. See them respond toward your love with gratitude. Enjoy the moment and affirm that with Christ, you are free to love others.

Our Abba Father has given us security and confidence so we can love more fully. Our Holy and Almighty God loved us boldly and sacrificially so we could properly understand and define love. TODAY'S THOUGHT Belonging is important. In fact it is said that today's generation wants to "belong" before they "believe." I have found it to be true. Brené Brown, author of "The Gifts Of Imperfection" , and an expert on shame, writes, "Of this I am actually certain. After collecting thousands of stories I'm willing to call this a fact: A deep sense of love and belonging is an irreducible need of all women, men and children. We are biologically, cognitively, physically and spiritually wired to love, to be loved and to belong. When those needs are not met, we don't function as we were meant to. We break. We fall apart. We numb. We ache. We hurt others. We get sick. The absence of love and belonging will always lead to suffering." God knew this about us so He sent His Son to redeem us and give us His love and a place to belong. He gave us His church and told us, "My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you." And that is what the early church
did. They shocked the Roman world with a love they never knew before. It was a love from God and a love from the community of believers. It was a sacrificial love, a caring love, a belonging love. Jesus has called us to do the same. Today, all around you and I are people who want to be loved. They want to belong. Why not introduce them to the love of God and His family where they too can find all their heart desires.
TODAY'S PRAYER Father, help me love in the same way You have loved me. Help me be open to those that are full of shame and rejection. Help my community of believers be a place where those that are weary and broken can belong. In Jesus' name. AMEN
TODAY'S AFFIRMATION & MEDITATION -I will reach out to others with the love of God Love does not always come natural. You must be intentional about loving. Today visualize yourself being filled with the Holy Spirit and genuinely loving others. Sense your own joy as you help someone belong and you see a smile develop on their face. Sense their relief, their joy, their being overwhelmed because you cared enough to embrace them. Today affirm with a deep sense of calling, "I will reach out to others with the love of God."

TODAY'S THOUGHTOur belief in the love that God has for us is foundational to our Christian Faith. It has everything to do with our Christian walk. David Benner in his book "The Gift of Being Yourself" writes, "Neither knowing God nor knowing self can progress very far unless it begins with the knowledge of how deeply we are loved by God. Until we dare to believe that nothing can separate us from God's love - nothing that we could do or fail to do, nor anything that could be done by anyone else to us - we remain in the elementary grades of the school of Christian transformation. -In order for our knowing of God's love to be truly transformational, it must become the basis of our identity. Our identity is who we experience ourselves to be-the I each of us carries within. An identity grounded in God would mean that when we think of who we are, the first thing that would come to mind is our status as someone who is deeply loved by God." It is this kind of
assurance that changes a person. It is this "Aha" awareness that changes the course of a life. It is this realization that gives us courage to accept ourself in Him and let go of who we think we have to be. David knew this. You can hear the joy in his voice, the child like exuberance, as he writes, "For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him." This is the kind of love, grace and forgiveness that ignites a fire deep in our soul. Might this day begin with a fresh awareness of how precious you are to God.

Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV). ''For I know the plans I have for you,'' declares the LORD,''plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.''... ... Thoughts on This Verse... Jeremiah was telling God's people that 70 years after the devastation, God would deliver and restore them. Despite the fact that they had repeatedly abandoned God, he would not abandon them or his promises to them. He would be faithful. In fact, God was planning and preparing a bright future for them. This promise also reminds us that no matter how deep our own personal gloom may seem, God does have plans for us. He will keep his promises to us. He will deliver and bless us. We can have a vibrant hope and a bright future because of his faithfulness and our trust in his Son, Jesus, who delivers us from every foe.

TODAY'S THOUGHT Paul took intercessory prayer seriously. He knew the effect of sincere dedicated prayer on someone else's behalf. He was constantly praying for the many churches he had planted and worked in. He tirelessly prayed for their needs and God answered his prayers. Now he is thanking the Corinthians for praying for him and acknowledging that God was answering their prayers in mighty ways. We too can pray on behalf of others. We can pray for our family. Pray for our church. Pray for our neighbors and those we work with. We can pray for those that are suffering and in great need. We can pray for their provision, perseverance and protection. We can pray for their salvation, guidance and healing. Today, hear what Paul wrote and believe, "You are helping by praying!"

TODAY'S THOUGHT There is a deep thirst in our heart for God. David used the analogy of a deer that has been walking in rough terrain, foraging for food only to build an incredible need for water. Driven by thirst, the deer longs to drink from a stream. In the same way David says that he had a thirst for God. Brennan Manning writes in his book, "Abba's Child", "The deepest desire of our hearts is for union with God. From the first moment of our existence our most powerful yearning is to fulfill the original purpose of our lives - We are made for God, and nothing less will really satisfy us." The meadows, though lush with grass, could not give the deer what it needed. The deer longed for water. Likewise, we can try everything imaginable to satisfy our needs but only God can fill the void in our heart. Have you come to that realization yet? Have you satisfied your soul with the love of Jesus? If not, why not turn to Him today. He will hear you. He will
quench your soul's deepest thirst.

TODAY'S AFFIRMATION & MEDITATION -God quenches the deep thirst of my soul Thirst is a physical condition. It has a physical presence. Visualize yourself coming in from a long hot walk. Your mouth is dry, your mind is telling you that you need a drink of water. It is a craving that can only be quenched by water. Feel the satisfaction as you pick up a cold glass of water and drink it down. Ahhh! Likewise when your soul is thirsty we feel it. Picture yourself with a spiritual thirst leaving you with an ache deep in your heart. And then you see Jesus. He says, "Come, I have living water." He gives you a drink and your soul is revived. You can feel the peace flow through your body and again you say, "Ahhh!" You affirm, "God quenches the deep thirst of my soul!"

Thoughts on This Verse... Nothing could keep Jesus from coming to save you and me -- not the distance between heaven and earth, not the difficulty of an unexpected pregnancy for his unmarried mother, not a city full of travelers and parents tired from a long journey, certainly not a maniacal king who sought to snuff out his life, not jeering mobs crying crucify him, not disciples that abandoned him, not soldiers that mocked him, not a scourge that raked his flesh, and not a cross that claimed his physical life. TODAY'S VERSE "Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us." Hebrews 12:1 (NIV)
TODAY'S THOUGHT Paul uses the analogy of running a race to describe the Christian life. He paints a picture of a poor runner who has come to the starting blocks with a large heavy weight tied to him and chains wrapped around his legs. There is no way this runner is going to finish the race, let alone win. Instead Paul suggests that the runner first throw off everything that hinders them. That could be events, habits, environments, attitudes, anything that "triggers" in us the desire to do things that Christ would not want us do, or prevent us from doing what we should. We need to throw off anything that leads us toward Spiritual apathy or complacency. In their book "True Faced" the authors point out that in reality there are two kinds of sins. These are sins that we commit resulting in guilt and sins that are committed against us resulting in hurt. Both of these "sins" can trip us up. If we allow guilt to grow, it will spread like a cancer in our Spirit.
If we allow hurt to go unchecked, it can fester into sadness, anger, fear, malice, bitterness and many other negative attitudes. We need to deal with the sin in our life -- both those that we commit and those committed against us. Then we can run the race. Today let us consider our own life. Are we running the race that God has called us to? If not, what is weighing us down? What is entangling us? Pray today that God would help you throw it off.
TODAY'S PRAYER Father, You know that I need to run in this race of life. I confess that I have let burdens weigh me down. I have let sins, both that I have committed and those committed against me, trip me up. Help me, Lord, throw off these things. Help me run today, free from all these things that hinder me. In Jesus' name. AMEN
TODAY'S AFFIRMATION & MEDITATION -I throw off those things that trip me up Meditate on those "sins" that have caused you to stumble over and over again. A sin that you keep committing or one that was committed against you and you cannot let it go. Be an observer and visualize yourself begin to stumble. Experience the emotional pain that it brings you. But then, invite Jesus into the scene. Ask Him to help you. Ask Him to speak "truth" to you about the situation. Listen to Him and ask Him to help you "throw off" the sin, like you would a chain that has you bound. See yourself becoming free. Sense God's power working in you. Feel the freedom and affirm out loud, "I throw off those things that trip me up."

Thoughts on This Verse... We are the Lord's. He bought us out of bondage
to sin and death. We have voluntarily placed our lives in his hands. No
matter what we do or where we go, his grace goes with us. He has
promised to never leave us. He has assured us that nothing can separate
us from his love. So let's live with a sense of excited anticipation,
looking to see where the Lord will lead us. Let us face difficulty, and
even death, with the assurance that we will not face tough times alone.
Even in the shadow of death, we don't have to fear what the evil can do.
We are the Lord's.

TODAY'S THOUGHT

Have you ever really sought after something? Really longed to find it?
When it is important to us, it is amazing to see how serious we can get.
This is how God wants us to seek after Him. He spoke through the
Prophet Jeremiah, admonishing us that the only way we would really find
Him was when we seek Him with our whole heart. Notice, Jeremiah did not
say, "when you seek him with your whole intellect." It is not knowing
"about" God; it is about "knowing God" in a deep and intimate way. God
is saying that if you would get passionate about Him, then you will
begin to find Him. How intent are you on knowing God? Begin today by
seeking Him with your whole heart.



TODAY'S PRAYER

Father, I come to You today. I really do want to know You. I want to
have a deep intimate relationship with You. Help me discipline myself to
take the time to know You. Take the time to hear You. Take the time to
tell You my thoughts, hopes and dreams. To share with You my fears,
apprehensions and doubts. As I seek You this way, that is with all my
heart, I pray that You would reveal more and more of Yourself to me.

TODAY'S THOUGHT

We usually think of wisdom in terms of knowledge or the ability to solve
a mystery. However James describes something much more comprehensive.
It is "relational" knowledge. The wisdom that God desires includes
morality, prudence, humility, gentleness, love, mercy and good deeds. It
seems that God is more interested in how we apply what we know,
especially in the way that we relate to others. You can be
intellectually right, yet morally wrong in the way you use your
knowledge. To be right, yet arrogant, unloving and proud is not real
wisdom. Which is more wise, to know how to solve someone's problem or to
help them solve their problem? Solomon, was King David's son. God asked
Solomon what would he want if he could have anything? Solomon told God
that he would want wisdom. God gave it to him. It was Solomon, certainly
the wisest man in his day, who challenges us in Proverbs three
different times, that when we get wisdom to make sure we also get
understanding. Might God grant us the understanding that real wisdom is,
"peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It
is full of mercy and good deeds. It shows no favoritism and is always
sincere."



TODAY'S PRAYER

Father, I thank You, that when I ask for wisdom, You give me so much
more. With wisdom you also give me understanding. Help me use your
wisdom to help others. With the knowledge You give me, help me to be
gentle, humble, loving and merciful.

hang on to his heavenly glory, but surrendered it to save us. Now he

Love Yourself

TODAY'S VERSE

"And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'"
Matthew 22:39 (NIV)


TODAY'S THOUGHT

The first part of this passage is about loving God with our whole heart,
soul and strength. The second part was to love others in the way we
love ourself. I understand the "love God" part. I know we are commanded
to "love others", but isn't "loving ourself" prideful and selfish? Some
would teach so, but in truth it is in loving ourself the way God loves
us that frees us to love others. Dr. Benner in "Sacred Companions" says
it this way, "I meditate on His love, allowing my focus to be on Him and
His love for me - and slowly things begin to change. My heart slowly
begins to warm and soften. I begin to experience new levels of love for
God. And slowly, almost imperceptibly, I begin to see others through
God's eyes of love. I begin to experience God's love for others."
Consider how much God loves you. Shouldn't you agree with Him and love
yourself too? Shouldn't this help you love others? Today, love God,
love yourself, love others.



TODAY'S PRAYER

Father, thank You for Your great love for me. Help me love myself and with that love, help me love others.

Today, do an internal scan and listen for objection to the questions I
ask. As you observe yourself, do you love the way you look? As you sense
your intelligence, do you love the way you think and comprehend things?
As you see your popularity, do you love the way you are socially? As
you see your status and wealth, do you love your place in the world?
When left to our own programmed judgments, it is difficult to love
ourself. However, see Jesus come by and look at yourself through His
eyes. Feel the love He has for you. Sense His acceptance of you and the
pride He has in you as His beloved child. As you do, feel your heart
warm up to loving yourself. Hear Jesus say, "Love yourself in the way I
love you!"

for? Paul's answer is''Yes!'' Christ is the answer, the reason, and the
hope. Now if we can get our wills and our hearts to line up with our
commitments, we can make that same statement, too!

Don't Judge, Love Instead

TODAY'S VERSE

"Do not judge others, and you will not be judged. For you will be
treated as you treat others. The standard you use in judging is the
standard by which you will be judged. And why worry about a speck in
your friend's eye when you have a log in your own?"
Matthew 7:1-3 (NLT)


TODAY'S THOUGHT

It is so easy to judge someone else isn't it? If I am not careful, I
will become judge and jury over someone else's behavior and not even
notice that I have committed the greater sin. Jesus had a lot to say
about this behavior. He says to get rid of the log in our own eye first,
then go after someone else's speck! David Powlison has written, "We
judge others--criticize, nit-pick, nag, attack, condemn--because we
literally play God. This is heinous. The Bible says, 'There is only one
Lawgiver and Judge, the one who is able to save and to destroy; but who
are you to judge your neighbor?' Who are you when you judge? None other
than a God wannabe. In this we become like the Devil himself. We act
exactly like the adversary who seeks to usurp God's throne and who acts
as the accuser of the brethren." How often have we become a "God
wannabe"? Instead, today let us judge ourselves. Let us look at our own
heart and behavior. Let's repent of any judging we may be doing. When
things irritate us or when we are tempted to judge someone else, let's
pray for them. Let's ask God for discernment so we will know what we can
do instead of judging. Let's love the person. We need to see the person
through the eyes of Jesus. After all, isn't that what we would want
people to do for us?



TODAY'S PRAYER

Dear God, I am so guilty of judging others. I have been forgiven so much
by You and yet I confess that I so quickly forget Your mercy and show
no grace to someone else. I judge with my thoughts. I judge with my
mouth. I judge with my actions. Please forgive me. Help me today, not to
judge, but to choose the better way, the way of love and forgiveness.

Spend a few moments thinking about a time you were judging someone else.
How productive was it? How did it make you feel? Picture Jesus saying,
"There is a better way! Love one another." Let that thought permeate
your thinking. Love is a better way. LOVE is a better way. Feel the
difference in your body between judging someone and loving them. Sense
how right it is to love. Feel the Holy Spirit nudging your heart to

Proverbs
10:32 (NIV). The lips of the righteous know what is fitting, but the
mouth of the wicked only what is perverse.... ... Thoughts on This
Verse... How many times have you said just the''wrong'' thing? For me,
it is more often than I would like to recall. Jesus' words on this topic
are indeed convicting to me:''Out of the abundance of the heart does
the mouth speak.'' In other words, poor words and bad timing in our
speech are more issues of our heart than issues of social skills and
decorum. Let's ask God to purify, mend, and re-focus our heart on his
will and passions.

TODAY'S THOUGHT

It is hard to believe we are winning a war if we are in the trenches
getting fired upon. Our army could be winning on all the other beach
heads, but our own particular battle stands in the way of believing that
we are a winner. It has happened before. Out in the remote posts of the
Pacific where the word had not reached the soldiers that World War II
was over, battles still went on. How many lost their lives after the war
had already been won? It is this way in our battle with sin. Paul comes
along and writes that our sinful selves have been put to death with
Christ. Yet, we act as if it applies to everyone else but us. The battle
is over but the news hasn't reached our heart yet. When we became a
Christian, we were emancipated from being a slave to sin. We were set
free from the power of sin. Do we sin? Yes. But do we have to be under
its control? No. We have been set free. Yet we act like a prisoner of
war still living in our cell, oblivious to the good news. So what is
stopping us from living free from the sin that is holding us down? Today
hear the good news, "Our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ
so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves
to sin. For when we died with Christ we were set free from the power of
sin." Arise, the battle is won, we are free!

TODAY'S PRAYER

Father, help me to really understand the freedom You have given me in
Christ. Help me understand what it really means to be free from the
power of sin. Help me today live in this new awareness, that my old
sinful self is Crucified with Christ.

TODAY'S AFFIRMATION & MEDITATION

Today meditate on the new life you have in Christ. Visualize yourself
with a real peace because of the forgiveness you have in Christ. Don't
focus on "not sinning" instead see yourself loving Christ and doing what
He leads you to do. Focus on your love for Him and the joy you have
living for Him.

Psalm 37:16-17 (NIV). Better the little that the righteous have than the wealth of many wicked; for the power of the wicked will be broken, but the LORD upholds the righteous... .... Thoughts on This Verse... What is your most important capital, your money or your character? I can assure you, this question will be asked of you a myriad of ways, quite often at the worst of all possible times when you are most vulnerable. Martin Luther supposedly said that the last thing to get converted in a man was his wallet. So will you choose the little of the righteous over the wealth of many wicked? Hmmm! Tough question in a pinch. So let's make that decision now before the circumstances change. God, his Kingdom, his will, and his righteousness come first, right?

Be Still Before Him

TODAY'S VERSE "Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him." Psalms 37:7 (NIV)
TODAY'S THOUGHT How much time do you spend meditating in the presence of God? That is to stop everything and spend quiet time before Him. This is more difficult than it seems. It does not matter if you have read the Bible for four weeks or four decades, you may know all about God and still not spend much time experiencing Him. Your knowledge may be in your head never making it into your heart. You will never truly know what it means to love God without spending meditative time in His presence. That is like saying you love your spouse and yet you never spend any time together. God is interested in us knowing Him through Scriptures, but He also desires a relationship that only comes through quiet "waiting" in His presence. Today, determine to know Him better. Choose some time where you can spend twenty minutes of solitude with Him. Don't let another day, week, month or year go by and not treasure God in your heart through time spent still before Him. .
TODAY'S PRAYER Father, I know that one of the purposes You have for me in this life is to know You. Help me carve out the time it takes to be "still" before You. Help me learn to embrace Your presence and enjoy union with You in quiet times together. I ask this in Jesus' Name. AMEN
TODAY'S AFFIRMATION & MEDITATION -I spend quiet time with God Practicing the presence of God is crucial to knowing Him. Today just silently sit before Him. You may choose an attribute of God and let it be your focus for your meditation. Today, let us choose love. Quietly whisper, "God is love." After saying the phrase let your mind think about it. Visualize a time you have experienced His love. Think of His love for you right now. When this dissipates repeat the phrase again, "God is love." Let it carry you again into meditation. This time thank God for His love and spend time visualizing Him loving you.

At that hour of the night the jailer took them and washed their wounds; then immediately he and all his family were baptized.... ... Thoughts on This Verse... Faith in Jesus is the absolutely crucial response to God's grace and is such a life-transforming blessing. For the jailer, faith meant hearing the gospel of Jesus as Lord and responding by believing that message, being baptized immediately, demonstrating a life change, and sharing in fellowship with other believers (cf. Acts 2:42-47). Imagine going from being the jailer over men to washing their wounds in your own home! Think about being responsible for the painful incarceration of men, then having these men baptize you and your family that same night! Imagine locking in
chains men who would later sit at your table sharing a meal! Isn't God incredible! Isn't his grace indescribable! No wonder we rejoice when those who are lost truly believe! Life is forever different

Go And Do The Same

TODAY'S VERSE "Then a despised Samaritan came along, and when he saw the man, he felt deep pity. Kneeling beside him, the Samaritan soothed his wounds with medicine and bandaged them. Then he put the man on his own donkey and took him to an inn, where he took care of him. - Now go and do the same." Luke 10:33-34, 37 (NLT)
TODAY'S THOUGHT Sometimes we make Christianity way too complicated. Jesus illustrated the essence of following Him through this simple story. He told of a Jewish man who was robbed, beaten and left by the side of the road. You see Jesus was not impressed with the Jewish leadership of the day. He did not care for their portrayal of Holiness. Neither did He like their lack of love for those around them. He used this story to challenge their mentality. In the story, the first person to come upon the wounded person was a priest. I am sure to everyone's shock, Jesus said that the priest walked by the wounded man, leaving him there to die. Perhaps filled with spiritual pride, the Priest felt the man was "unclean" and therefore unworthy of help. Next, Jesus said that a Levite walked by the hurting man. Perhaps a reason he walked by the dying man was to stay ceremonially "clean." He could not defile himself with the bleeding man so he too passed him by. Finally,
an enemy of the Jews, a Samaritan, stopped and showed compassion on the hurting and wounded Jew. The point Jesus was trying to illustrate was, "How did following God get so far from what God intended? How did we lose the very heart of God?" If we are to follow Jesus, then we must love those in need that we come in contact with. James writes it this way, "Pure and lasting religion in the sight of God our Father means that we must take care for orphans and widows in their trouble." Today, as you walk on your own path to wherever you are going, what will you do for those in need? Let us think of the "good Samaritan" and hear Jesus say, "Go and do the same!"
TODAY'S PRAYER Father, help me remember the story of the good Samaritan so when I see someone in need today, I will go and do whatever I can to help. AMEN
TODAY'S AFFIRMATION & MEDITATION -I will stop and help those in need Stop and visualize yourself in the place of the Good Samaritan. You see someone on the road, hurt and in need of help. Feel empathy rise in your heart. Sense the need to do something and see yourself being led by God to help the person. Feel the joy in knowing you made a difference. Sense God's plesure in your obedience. Now that you visualized it, do what Jesus said, "Go and do the same

I will say it again: Rejoice!.... .. Thoughts on This Verse... Sometimes the
squabbles of church can be discouraging and cause us to lose sight of the
incredible blessings we have in God's family. We have many reasons to rejoice in
the Lord. Let's not lose sight of those, especially when those around us get
caught up in pettiness and rivalry. Let's remember our hope is in the crucified
Nazarene, who is also our resurrected Lord and ever-present

What Is Your Dream?

TODAY'S VERSE

"For I know the plans I have for you, 'declares the LORD, 'plans to
prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."'
Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)
TODAY'S THOUGHT
Often we are asked, "What is your dream for your life?" It is a
legitimate question. We should have a dream. We should have a God- sized
vision of our reason for being here. But have you ever thought that God
Himself has a dream for your life? Jeremiah writes, "For I know the
plans I have for you, 'declares the LORD." In the book "TrueFaced" the
authors write, "Ever since we were children we have had dreams and hopes
of destiny. Some of these dreams are our own, but others came from the
very heart of God - God dreams that you would discover your destiny and
walk into the reasons He placed you on this earth." And so we read
today's verse and see the word, "prosper" and think that God wants us
all to be wealthy. But have you ever considered God's dream for you
might be something more than material wealth? Paul writes that you are,
"God's workmanship created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God
prepared in advance for us to do." The authors of "TrueFaced" continue,
"God's dreams for you are ultimately not really about you. Oh, don't
misunderstand. They'll bring you some of the best days of your life; you
will be fulfilled beyond any imaginable expectations. But God's dreams
take form only when they are about others, for the benefit of others.
Loving them. Guiding them. Serving them. Influencing them. Filling their
heads with dreams and hope. There are no other types of God dreams.
Nothing less or else will compel, attract, or seem worthy of this God
heart within you." In this respect I pray that God would prosper you to
prosper those around you. I pray that He will give you both a hope and a
future so you can give the same to others.

TODAY'S PRAYER
Father, help me see the dream You have for my life. Help me dream the
same. Take my life. Use it for your glory. Might I prosper in helping
others. Might the hope and future You give me be what I in turn give to
others. In Jesus' name.

We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ...... . Thoughts on This Verse... In our battle against evil, we use the spiritual weapons of God that enable us to know the truth and the freedom that the truth brings. The devil's greatest tools are deception and death. God's grace allows us to see through the deception and demolish its falsifying grip on the minds of men and women and on ourselves. God's power has broken through the barrier of death and given us victory in Jesus Christ. Our task in this victory march? To obey our Lord and help others to do the same, finding his grace and power sufficient to help us overcome all
that we face that could defeat us.

Enlighten My Heart

TODAY'S VERSE "I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe." Ephesians 1:18-19 (NIV)
TODAY'S THOUGHT I have always loved poetry. I love words put together on a page with hidden meaning, a puzzle waiting to be solved, pregnant with truth and wisdom. My father has always loved "The Road Less Taken" by Robert Frost. Growing up, he would quote the ending. I have it memorized. "Two roads diverged in a wood, and I - I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference." How true that phrase is. We have choices. And there is no greater choice than the one you make regarding your heart. God desires us to follow Him and yet He will not force us. We have a choice. Which road will we take? The Psalmist warns against a hard heart. He writes, "Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts." Will we listen to bitterness, jealously, self pity and other negative emotions? Will we turn our back on God's love or will we open our heart to hear what He has to say? Paul knew how serious our heart was so he prayed for the Ephesians.
He prayed that their hearts would be enlightened toward the things of God. Do you seek God's enlightenment? Do you ask Him for wisdom in order to understand the depths of His love for you? Do you ask Him to show you the purpose He has for your life? Do you ask Him to teach you about His great power He has for you to live by? You have a choice with your heart. Will you let God enlighten it with His love and power or will you let it harden?
TODAY'S PRAYER Father, take my heart and breath Your life into it. I don't want a hard heart. I want a heart that is enlightened by Your Holy Spirit. One that is led day by day, living by faith, trusting in Your love and power. AMEN
TODAY'S AFFIRMATION & MEDITATION -My heart is enlightened by God God's wants to encourage our heart by meditating on His hope and power He has for us. Imagine what it feels like to be in a hopeless situation. You are trapped, don't know what to do and you feel so helpless. Let the feeling affect your body. Feel the tension and despair. But then you cry out to God and He hears you. Sense the joy, as you realize that God is there, that He is giving you hope. Hope that comes from the knowledge that He loves you, and that He has mighty unlimited power to help you. Let your heart sense the reality of His presence. Feel the relief, hope and the joy as you feel His love enlighten your heart.

1 John 4:16 (NIV). And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him....... Thoughts on This Verse... We can be sure that God loves us. He wants us to live in and be blessed by his love. That love is more than just the grace that reaches us when we are saved. God's love extends through us. His love is redemptive in our loving behavior to others. His presence is seen in our loving attitudes and deeds. God wants his love to be shared by us to others. In this way, his love blesses us when we receive it and also when we share it!

Our Real Self

TODAY'S VERSE "For to me, to live is Christ" Philippians 1:21(NIV)
TODAY'S THOUGHT Paul had found the secret to real living. He found his true authentic self when he found his life in Christ. It is not that he "lost" himself but that his true purpose and meaning for existence was "found" when he found Christ. There was no dichotomy in his life. There wasn't a "church" personality on Sunday and a different one at work on Monday. Rather there was integration between his faith and his life. Dr. David Benner in his book "The Gift of Being Yourself" writes about our identity found in Christ. He writes, "There is, a way of being for each of us that is as natural and deeply congruent as the life of the tulip. Beneath the roles and masks lies a possibility of a self that is as unique as a snowflake. It is an originality that has existed since God first loved us into existence. Our true self-in-Christ is the only self that will support authenticity. It and it alone provides an identity that is eternal." What about you? Have you
dedicated your life to Christ in such a way that you have found your true authentic self? Can you say with Paul, "For me to live is Christ"? If not, why not surrender your heart to Him today? Ask Him to reveal to you, your true self in Christ.
TODAY'S PRAYER Father, I admit, I have built my life the way I have seen fit. I have ignored the restlessness deep in my heart that cries out for You. Today, I choose to make You ruler of my life. Father, please help me. I want to say with Paul, "For me to live is Christ." AMEN
TODAY'S AFFIRMATION & MEDITATION -For to me, to live is Christ Today contemplate on who God thinks you are. He created you and had a reason. His reason was love. He is so glad that He created you. Picture yourself before Him and sense His smile. Try looking through His eyes and sense His pleasure as He sees you. Let yourself to understand that He wants you to live for Him. Affirm this by saying, "For me to live is Christ."

I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do everything through him who gives me strength.... ... Thoughts on This Verse... Life is full of ups and downs. So much of what we hold dear can be touched by death, disaster, and decay. What do we have that is certain? To whom can we turn for assurance? Where do we find the power to live victoriously in good times and bad? In the Lord who gives us strength!

Who is Jesus?

They replied, 'Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.' 'But what about you?' he asked. 'Who do you say I am?' Simon Peter answered, 'You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.'" Matthew 16:13-16 (NIV)
TODAY'S THOUGHT What do you really believe about Jesus? That is the real question. You can have all sorts of "head knowledge", you can quote the creeds and catechisms, but if you don't have that everyday "I'm going to trust You because I know You love me" kind of knowledge, you really don't know who Christ really is. There were all kinds of speculation about the nature of Jesus. Some thought He was a prophet, others thought He was John the Baptist or Elijah, but Peter knew who Jesus really was. Peter answered without hesitation and said that Jesus was indeed the Christ the son of the living God. Peter had a complete view of who Christ was. Do you? Julian of Norwich wrote, "Some of us believe that God is almighty and can do everything; and that he is all wise and may do everything; but that He is all love and will do everything - there we draw back." You see, it is one thing to believe God can do everything, another to believe He may, but it is a whole
other level of knowledge to say that God loves me and will do everything. Today, make your knowledge complete. Trust in Him with your whole heart. Believe in His deep love for you with faith, trusting Him in all things.
TODAY'S PRAYER Father, I thank You that You are almighty and can do everything. I praise You for the fact that You are all wise and may do all things. But most of all Father, I worship You today, believing that You love me unconditionally and will do all things according to that love. AMEN
TODAY'S AFFIRMATION & MEDITATION -Christ is the Son of the living God Today picture Jesus in His Full Deity. Visualize Him as God. Observe yourself before Him and see Him in all His power. Sense that with that power is an incredible love. As you see Him, recognize that He is more than a man, more than a prophet, more than a good moral teacher. Look and wait until you see and sense deep in your heart that He is God manifested in human form. Let the deity of Christ fill your heart and mind.

Psalm 34:1 (NIV). I will extol the LORD at all times; his praise will always be on my lips....... Thoughts on This Verse... One way to keep our life on track and our hearts surrendered to the will and work of God is to praise our glorious LORD continually. Let's put our praise for God on our lips with song and memorized Scripture. Let's tell his wonderful and great deeds to our children, grandchildren, and friends. Let's give him thanks for all that he has done for us. Just as surely as he is with us always (see Ps. 139), let's praise him always.

No Shame

TODAY'S VERSE "Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions. Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin." Psalm 51:1-2 (NIV)
TODAY'S THOUGHT Shame and guilt have so many of us in bondage. If it is not actual shame, it is the fear of being shamed. Yet this is not the way of life God has chosen for us. David knew this. In today's passage, David is appealing to God to forgive him. He came to Him with complete abandonment, crying out for mercy, asking God to cleanse him from all his sin. He was counting on God's unfailing love and compassion. Likewise, we come to God, through the sacrifice of Christ on the cross, asking that all our sins be forgiven. But do we really believe that happens? Are we really forgiven? We need to get to that same place of trust that David was in. We need to know and experience the freedom that comes from the forgiveness of Christ. David accepted himself as clean. Will you? Live in His forgiveness today.
TODAY'S PRAYER Father, I refuse to believe that You are ashamed of me or that you will abandon me because of my transgressions. I confess my sin and accept the death of Christ on the Cross as the substitution for my wrongdoings. Help me Lord rise, not in arrogance, but humility, knowing that I am cleansed and accepted by Your unconditional love. I choose to accept myself as forgiven and not ashamed. In Jesus' name. AMEN
TODAY'S AFFIRMATION & MEDITATION -I am forgiven and not ashamed Shame is hard to shake. It is a felt experience. In order to overcome it you need to let the truth of your forgiveness calm you and return you to peace and joy. When you feel shame, your body is lying to you. So you need to practice "feeling" the truth. Picture your self being shamed by someone. It feels bad but let your body feel it. As you feel it deeply, start to think of Christ dying on the cross for you. Picture Him looking at you from the Cross saying to you, "I am doing this so you will not have to feel shame. I love you!" Say, "There is no shame in Christ. Jesus loves me and forgives me. I feel peace and joy." As you meditate on this you will start to feel the shame dissipate and your stomach, chest, and head return to normal. Do this several times and begin to realize that shame is a body "lie" from the past and that forgiveness and peace is the way you should feel.
