Daily light on the daily path

*Devotional compiled by Jonathan Bagster*

December 24

MORNING

If ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do
mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. Rom. 8:13

Now the works of the flesh are manifest which are these; Adultery,
fornication. ... and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have
also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not
inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy,
peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance:
against such there is no law. And they that are Christ's have crucified the
flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also
walk in the Spirit. Gal. 5:19, 21-25

The grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, teaching
us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly,
righteously, and godly, in this present world; looking for that blessed
hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus
Christ; who gave himself for us that he might redeem us from all iniquity.
Titus 2:11-14

EVENING

Then said the princes of the Phillistines, What do these Hebrews here? I
Sam. 29:3

If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye: for the spirit of
glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but
on your part he is glorified. But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or
as a thief... or as a busy body in other men's matters. I Pet. 4:14, 15

Let not ... your good be evil spoken of. Rom. 14:16

Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles. I Pet. 2:12

Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship
hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with
darkness? Ye are the temple of the living God. Wherefore come out from
among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean
thing. II Cor. 6:14, 16, 17

Ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar
people: that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you
out of darkness into his marvellous light. I Pet. 2:9

*MORNING*

*The days of thy mourning shall be ended. Isa. 60:20*

*In the world ye shall have tribulation. John 16:33*

*The whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now. And
not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the
Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption,
to wit, the redemption of our body. Rom. 8:22, 23*

*We that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we
would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up
of life. II Cor. 5:4*

*These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their
robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb, Therefore are they
before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he
that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them. They shall hunger no
more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any
heat. For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and
shall lead them unto living fountains of waters; and God shall wipe away
all tears from their eyes. Rev. 7:14-17 *
*EVENING*

*Master, carest thou not that we perish? Mark 4:38*

*The LORD is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works.
Psa. 145:9*

*Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green
herb have I given you all things. Gen. 9:3*

*While the earth remaineth, seed-time and harvest, and cold and heat, and
summer and winter, and day and night, shall not cease. Gen. 8:22*

*The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them
that trust in him. Nah. 1:7*

*God heard the voice of the lad: and the angel of God called to Hagar out
of heaven, and said unto her, What aileth thee, Hagar? fear not; for God
hath heard the voice of the lad where he is. And God opened her eyes, and
she saw a well of water; and she went, and filled the bottle with water,
and gave the lad drink. Gen. 21:17, 19*

*Take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, what shall we drink? for
your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. Matt.
6:31, 32*

*Trust ... in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy. I

*Daily light on the daily path*

*Devotional compiled by Jonathan Bagster *
* **December 19*

*MORNING*

Unto the upright there ariseth light in the darkness. Psa. 112:4

Who is among you that feareth the LORD, that obeyeth the voice of his
servant, that walketh in darkness, and hath no light? let him trust in the
name of the LORD, and stay upon his God. Isa. 50:10

Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the Lord upholdeth
him with his hand. Psa. 37:24

The commandment is a lamp, and the law is light. Prov. 6:23

Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I
sit in darkness, the LORD shall be a light unto me. I will bear the
indignation of the LORD, because I have sinned against him, until he plead
my cause, and execute judgment for me: he will bring me forth to the light,
and I shall behold his righteousness. Micah 7:8, 9

The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy
whole body shall be full of light. But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body
shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be
darkness, how great is that darkness Matt. 6:22, 23

*EVENING*

He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his
arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with
young. Isa. 40:11

I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three
days, and have nothing to eat: ... I will not send them away fasting, lest
they faint in the way. Matt. 15:32

We have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our
infirmities. Heb. 4:15

They brought young children to him, and he took them up in his arms, put
his hands upon them, and blessed them. Mark 10:13, 16

I have gone astray like a lost sheep; seek thy servant. Psa. 119:176

The Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost. Luke 19:10

Ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and
Bishop of your souls. I Pet. 2:25

Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you
the kingdom. Luke 12:32

I will feed my flock, and I will cause them to lie down, saith the Lord
GOD. Ezek. 34:15

Post  Admin on Sat 17 Dec 2011, 6:41 pm

*Daily light on the daily path*

*Devotional compiled by Jonathan Bagster *
* **December 17*

*MORNING*
*Quicken us, and we will call upon thy name. Psa. 80:18*

*It is the Spirit that quickeneth. John 6:63*

*The Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should
pray for as we ought:*

*but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which
cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the
mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according
to the will of God. Rom. 8:26, 27*

*Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and
watching thereunto with all perseverance. Eph. 6:18*

*I will never forget thy precepts: for with them thou hast quickened me.
Psa. 119:93*

*The words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. John
6:63*

*The letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life. II Cor. 3:6*

*If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will,
and it shall be done unto you. John 15:7*

*This is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing
according to his will, he heareth us. I John 5:14*

*No man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost. I Cor. 12:3*

* *
*EVENING*
*Have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather
reprove them. Eph. 5:11*

*Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners. I Cor. 15:33*

*Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump! Purge out
therefore the old leaven. I wrote unto you in an epistle not to company
with fornicators. Yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world, or
with the covetous, or extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye
needs go out of the world. I have written unto you not to keep company, if
any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an
idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one
no not to eat. I Cor. 5:6, 7, 9-11*

*That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in
the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights
in the world. Phil. 2:15*

*In a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but
also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. II
Tim. 2:20*

*Daily light on the daily path*

*Devotional compiled by Jonathan Bagster *
* **December 16*

*MORNING*
*Having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end.
John 13:1*

*I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast
given me; for they are thine. And all mine are thine, and thine are mine;
and I am glorified in them. I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of
the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. They are not of
the world, even as I am not of the world. John 17:9, 10, 15, 16*

*As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.
John 15:9*

*Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his
friends. Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. John 15:13,14*

*A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have
loved you, that ye also love one another. John 13:34*

*He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of
Jesus Christ. Phil. 1:6*

*Christ ... loved the church, and gave himself for it; that he might
sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word. Eph. 5:25, 26
*
*EVENING*
*The deep things of God. I Cor. 2:10*

*Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his
lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard
of my Father I have made known unto you. John 15:15*

*It is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven. Matt.
13:11*
*We have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit which is of
God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. I
Cor. 2:12*

*For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, of
whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, that he would grant
you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by
his Spirit in the inner man that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, may
be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and
depth, and height; and to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge,
that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. Eph. 3:14-19*

* **December 15*

*MORNING*
*Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ. Gal. 6:2*

*Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of
others. Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: who ...
took upon him the form of a servant. Phil. 2:4, 5, 7*

*Even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and
to give his life a ransom for many. Mark 10:45*

*He died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto
themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again. II Cor. 5:15*

that ye should inherit a blessing. I Pet. 3:8, 9*

* *
*EVENING*

*Son, go work to day in my vineyard. Matt. 21:28*

*Thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God
through Christ. Gal. 4:7*

*Reckon ye ... yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal
body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. Neither yield ye your
members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin; but yield yourselves
unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as
instruments of righteousness unto God. Rom. 6:11-13*

*As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former

holy in all manner of conversation; because it is written, Be ye holy; for
I am holy. I Pet. 1:14, 15*

*Sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good

abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is
not in vain in the Lord. I Cor. 15:58*

ignorance of foolish men. I Pet. 2:15*

*But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an

behalf. I Pet. 4:15, 16*

*Brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an
occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another. Gal. 5:13*

have done it unto me. Matt. 25:40*

the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of
salvation. I Thess. 5:6-8*

the righteousness of God in him. II Cor. 5:21*

*The LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. Isa. 53:6*

*Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being
dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were
healed. I Pet. 2:24*

*As by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience
of one shall many be made righteous. Rom. 5:19*

*After that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,
not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his
mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy
Ghost; which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;
that being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the
hope of eternal life. Titus 3:4-7*

*There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus,
who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. Rom. 8:1*

*The LORD our Righteousness. Jer. 23:6*

quench. Isa. 42:3*

*The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach
the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to
preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind,
to set at liberty them that are bruised, to preach the acceptable year of
the Lord. And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture
fulfilled in your ears. And all bare him witness, and wondered at the
gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth. Luke 4:18, 19, 21, 22*

*And the Lord turned, and looked upon Peter, and Peter remembered the word
of the Lord, how he had said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt
deny me thrice. And Peter went out and wept bitterly. Luke 22:61, 62*

his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are
with young. Isa. 40:11*

I will raise him up at the last day. John 6:44*

variableness, neither shadow of turning. Of his own will begat he us with
the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his
creatures. James 1:16-18*

*For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which
God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. Eph. 2:10*

*EVENING*

*The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. Matt. 26:41*

*In the way of thy judgments, O LORD, have we waited for thee; the desire
of our soul is to thy name, and to the remembrance of thee. With my soul
have I desired thee in the night; yea, with my spirit within me will I seek
thee early. Isa. 26:8, 9*

*I know that in me, (that is, in my flesh) dwelleth no good thing: for to
will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.
For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: but I see another law
in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into
captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. Rom. 7:18, 22, 23*

*The flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh:

as gold. My foot hath held his steps, his way have I kept, and not
declined. Job 23:10, 11*

*Thou shalt remember all the way which the LORD thy God led thee these
forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know
what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or
no. Thou shalt also consider in thine heart, that, as a man chasteneth his

with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the Lord
of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied. And David
put his hand in his bag, and took thence a stone, and slang it. So David
prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and with a stone. I Sam. 17:45,
49, 50*

delivered by much strength. Behold, the eye of the Lord is upon them that
fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy. Psa. 33:16, 18*

*Both riches and honour come of thee, and thou reignest over all; and in
thine hand is power and might; and in thine hand it is to make great, and
to give strength unto all. I Chron. 29:12*

Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in
persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am
I strong. II Cor. 12:9, 10 ****

Dalfrath Alfred bringing the Word Empty Re: Dalfrath Alfred bringing the Word

*Daily light on the daily path*

Devotional compiled by Jonathan Bagster
*December 2*** *MORNING*

Ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things. I John 2:20

God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power. Acts
10:38

It pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell. Col. 1:19

Of his fullness have all we received, and grace for grace. John 1:16

Thou anointest my head with oil. Psa. 23:5

The anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not
that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all
things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye
shall abide in him. I John 2:27

The Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my
name, he shall teach you ail things, and bring all things to your
remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. John 14:26

The Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should
pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with
groanings which cannot be uttered. Rom. 8:26

*EVENING*

Having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience. Heb. 10:22

If the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling
the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh: How much more shall
the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without
spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God.
Heb. 9:13, 14

The blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.
Heb. 12:24

We have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to
the riches of his grace. Eph. 1:7

When Moses had spoken every precept to all the people according to the law,
he took the blood of calves and of goats, with water, and scarlet wool, and
hyssop, and sprinkled both the book, and all the people. Moreover he
sprinkled ... with blood both the tabernacle, and all the vessels of the
ministry. And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and
without shedding of blood is no remission. Heb. 9:19, 21, 22

Dalfrath Alfred bringing the Word Empty Re: Dalfrath Alfred bringing the Word

Post  Admin on Wed 30 Nov 2011, 6:52 pm

*Daily light on the daily path*

Devotional compiled by Jonathan Bagster
*November 28*** *MORNING

As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead
also. James 2:26

Not every one that saith.... Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of
heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Matt.
7:21

Holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord. Heb. 12:14

Add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; and to knowledge
temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; and to
godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. For if
these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be
barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But he
that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath
forgotten that he was purged from his old sins. Wherefore the rather,
brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye
do these things, ye shall never fall. II Pet. 1:5-10

By grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves; it is the
gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast. Eph. 2:8, 9

**EVENING** **As the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also
himself likewise took part of the same; that he might deliver them who
through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. Heb.
2:14, 15** **O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?
Thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus
Christ. I Cor. 15:55, 57** **For which cause we faint not; but though our
outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. II Cor. 4:16**
**We know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we
have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the
heavens. Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at
home in the body, we are absent from the Lord. We are willing rather to be
absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. II Cor. 5:1, 6-8** **Let
not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my
Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you.
I go to prepare a place for you. John 14:1-3 ****

Inspirational Readings by A.B. Simpson
Days of Heaven on Earth
Tuesday, November 29, 2011

A young woman whose parents had died while she was an infant had been cared for by a friend of the family. Before she was old enough to know him he went to Europe. Through all his years of absence he wrote regularly to her and never failed to send her money for all her wants.

Finally word came that during a certain week he would return and visit her. He did not fix the day or the hour. During that week the young woman received several invitations to take pleasant trips with her friends. one of these sounded so exciting that she could not resist accepting it. But during her trip her benefactor came, inquired as to her absence and left. Returning she found a note:

"My life," the note said, "has been a struggle for you; might you not have waited one week for me?" More she never heard, and her life of plenty became one of want.

Jesus has not fixed the day or hour of His return but He has said, Watch. Should He come today, would He find us absorbed in thoughtless dissipation? May we be found each day in the expectant attitude of those watching for a loved one.

Scripture
Could ye not watch with me one hour?—Matthew 26:40

*Brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an
occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another. Gal. 5:13*

*The Spirit ... helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should
pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with
groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth
what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the
saints according to the will of God. Rom. 8:26, 27*

*This is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing
according to his will, he heareth us. I John 5:14*

*When he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth.
John 16:13*

*Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and
watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication. Eph. 6:18*
* *

and that the tender branch thereof will not cease. Job 14:7*

*He restoreth my soul. Psa. 23:3*

*Godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of. but
the sorrow of the world worketh death. II Cor. 7:10*

*No chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous:
nevertheless, afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness
unto them which are exercised thereby. Heb. 12:11*

*Before I was afflicted I went astray: but now have I kept thy word. Psa.
119:67*

*After all that is come upon us for our evil deeds, and for our great
trespass, seeing that thou our God hast punished us less than our
iniquities deserve, and hast given us such deliverance as this. Ezra 9:13*

*Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I
sit in darkness, the LORD shall be a light unto me. He will bring me forth
to the light, and I shall behold his righteousness. Micah 7:8, 9 ****
