Luke 23:26-56
26 And as they led him away , they laid hold upon one Simon, a Cyrenian, coming out of the country, and on him they laid the cross, that he might bear it after Jesus.  27 And there followed him a great company of people, and of women, which also bewailed and lamented him.  28 But Jesus turning unto them said , Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not for me, but weep for yourselves, and for your children.  29 For, behold , the days are coming , in the which they shall say , Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that never bare , and the paps which never gave suck . 30 Then shall they begin to say to the mountains, Fall on us; and to the hills, Cover us.  31 For if they do these things in a green tree, what shall be done in the dry?  32 And there were also two other, malefactors, led with him to be put to death . 33 And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left.  34 Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do . And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.  35 And the people stood beholding . And the rulers also with them derided him, saying , He saved others; let him save himself, if he be Christ, the chosen of God.  36 And the soldiers also mocked him, coming to him, and offering him vinegar,  37 And saying , If thou be the king of the Jews, save thyself.  38 And a superscription also was written over him in letters of Greek, and Latin, and Hebrew, THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.  39 And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying , If thou be Christ, save thyself and us.  40 But the other answering rebuked him, saying , Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation?  41 And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds : but this man hath done nothing amiss.  42 And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.  43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.  44 And it was about the sixth hour, and there was a darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour.  45 And the sun was darkened , and the veil of the temple was rent in the midst.  46 And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said , Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost . 47 Now when the centurion saw what was done , he glorified God, saying , Certainly this was a righteous man.  48 And all the people that came together to that sight, beholding the things which were done , smote their breasts, and returned . 49 And all his acquaintance, and the women that followed him from Galilee, stood afar off, beholding these things.  50 And, behold , there was a man named Joseph, a counsellor; and he was a good man, and a just:  51 (The same had not consented to the counsel and deed of them;) he was of Arimathaea, a city of the Jews : who also himself waited for the kingdom of God.  52 This man went unto Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus.  53 And he took it down , and wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a sepulchre that was hewn in stone, wherein never man before was laid . 54 And that day was the preparation, and the sabbath drew on . 55 And the women also, which came with him from Galilee, followed after , and beheld the sepulchre, and how his body was laid . 56 And they returned , and prepared spices and ointments; and rested the sabbath day according to the commandment.
Genesis 42:1-38
1 Now when Jacob saw that there was corn in Egypt, Jacob said unto his sons, Why do ye look one upon another? 2 And he said , Behold, I have heard that there is corn in Egypt: get you down thither, and buy for us from thence; that we may live , and not die . 3 And Joseph's ten brethren went down to buy corn in Egypt.  4 But Benjamin, Joseph's brother, Jacob sent not with his brethren; for he said , Lest peradventure mischief befall him . 5 And the sons of Israel came to buy corn among those that came : for the famine was in the land of Canaan.  6 And Joseph was the governor over the land, and he it was that sold to all the people of the land: and Joseph's brethren came , and bowed down themselves before him with their faces to the earth.  7 And Joseph saw his brethren, and he knew them, but made himself strange unto them, and spake roughly unto them; and he said unto them, Whence come ye? And they said , From the land of Canaan to buy food.  8 And Joseph knew his brethren, but they knew not him. 9 And Joseph remembered the dreams which he dreamed of them, and said unto them, Ye are spies ; to see the nakedness of the land ye are come . 10 And they said unto him, Nay, my lord, but to buy food are thy servants come . 11 We are all one man's sons; we are true men, thy servants are no spies . 12 And he said unto them, Nay, but to see the nakedness of the land ye are come . 13 And they said , Thy servants are twelve brethren, the sons of one man in the land of Canaan; and, behold, the youngest is this day with our father, and one is not. 14 And Joseph said unto them, That is it that I spake unto you, saying , Ye are spies : 15 Hereby ye shall be proved : By the life of Pharaoh ye shall not go forth hence, except your youngest brother come hither. 16 Send one of you, and let him fetch your brother, and ye shall be kept in prison , that your words may be proved , whether there be any truth in you: or else by the life of Pharaoh surely ye are spies . 17 And he put them all together into ward three days.  18 And Joseph said unto them the third day, This do , and live ; for I fear God:  19 If ye be true men, let one of your brethren be bound in the house of your prison: go ye, carry corn for the famine of your houses:  20 But bring your youngest brother unto me; so shall your words be verified , and ye shall not die . And they did so. 21 And they said one to another, We are verily guilty concerning our brother, in that we saw the anguish of his soul, when he besought us, and we would not hear ; therefore is this distress come upon us. 22 And Reuben answered them, saying , Spake I not unto you, saying , Do not sin against the child; and ye would not hear ? therefore, behold, also his blood is required . 23 And they knew not that Joseph understood them; for he spake unto them by an interpreter . 24 And he turned himself about from them, and wept ; and returned to them again , and communed with them, and took from them Simeon, and bound him before their eyes.  25 Then Joseph commanded to fill their sacks with corn, and to restore every man's money into his sack, and to give them provision for the way: and thus did he unto them. 26 And they laded their asses with the corn, and departed thence. 27 And as one of them opened his sack to give his ass provender in the inn, he espied his money; for, behold, it was in his sack's mouth.  28 And he said unto his brethren, My money is restored ; and, lo, it is even in my sack: and their heart failed them, and they were afraid , saying one to another, What is this that God hath done unto us? 29 And they came unto Jacob their father unto the land of Canaan, and told him all that befell unto them; saying , 30 The man, who is the lord of the land, spake roughly to us, and took us for spies of the country.  31 And we said unto him, We are true men; we are no spies : 32 We be twelve brethren, sons of our father; one is not, and the youngest is this day with our father in the land of Canaan.  33 And the man, the lord of the country, said unto us, Hereby shall I know that ye are true men; leave one of your brethren here with me, and take food for the famine of your households, and be gone : 34 And bring your youngest brother unto me: then shall I know that ye are no spies , but that ye are true men: so will I deliver you your brother, and ye shall traffick in the land.  35 And it came to pass as they emptied their sacks, that, behold, every man's bundle of money was in his sack: and when both they and their father saw the bundles of money, they were afraid . 36 And Jacob their father said unto them, Me have ye bereaved of my children: Joseph is not, and Simeon is not, and ye will take Benjamin away: all these things are against me. 37 And Reuben spake unto his father, saying , Slay my two sons, if I bring him not to thee: deliver him into my hand, and I will bring him to thee again . 38 And he said , My son shall not go down with you; for his brother is dead , and he is left alone: if mischief befall him by the way in the which ye go , then shall ye bring down my gray hairs with sorrow to the grave.
Psalm 33:1-22
1 Rejoice in the LORD, O ye righteous: for praise is comely for the upright.  2 Praise the LORD with harp: sing unto him with the psaltery and an instrument of ten strings.  3 Sing unto him a new song; play skilfully with a loud noise.  4 For the word of the LORD is right; and all his works are done in truth.  5 He loveth righteousness and judgment: the earth is full of the goodness of the LORD.  6 By the word of the LORD were the heavens made ; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.  7 He gathereth the waters of the sea together as an heap: he layeth up the depth in storehouses.  8 Let all the earth fear the LORD: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him. 9 For he spake , and it was done; he commanded , and it stood fast . 10 The LORD bringeth the counsel of the heathen to nought : he maketh the devices of the people of none effect . 11 The counsel of the LORD standeth for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations.  12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.  13 The LORD looketh from heaven; he beholdeth all the sons of men.  14 From the place of his habitation he looketh upon all the inhabitants of the earth.  15 He fashioneth their hearts alike; he considereth all their works.  16 There is no king saved by the multitude of an host: a mighty man is not delivered by much strength.  17 An horse is a vain thing for safety: neither shall he deliver any by his great strength.  18 Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy;  19 To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine.  20 Our soul waiteth for the LORD: he is our help and our shield.  21 For our heart shall rejoice in him, because we have trusted in his holy name.  22 Let thy mercy, O LORD, be upon us, according as we hope in thee.

Luke 23:1-25
1 And the whole multitude of them arose , and led him unto Pilate.  2 And they began to accuse him, saying , We found this fellow perverting the nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Caesar, saying that he himself is Christ a King.  3 And Pilate asked him, saying , Art thou the King of the Jews? And he answered him and said , Thou sayest it. 4 Then said Pilate to the chief priests and to the people, I find no fault in this man.  5 And they were the more fierce , saying , He stirreth up the people, teaching throughout all Jewry, beginning from Galilee to this place.  6 When Pilate heard of Galilee, he asked whether the man were a Galilaean.  7 And as soon as he knew that he belonged unto Herod's jurisdiction, he sent him to Herod, who himself also was at Jerusalem at that time.  8 And when Herod saw Jesus, he was exceeding glad : for he was desirous to see him of a long season, because he had heard many things of him; and he hoped to have seen some miracle done by him.  9 Then he questioned with him in many words; but he answered him nothing.  10 And the chief priests and scribes stood and vehemently accused him.  11 And Herod with his men of war set him at nought , and mocked him, and arrayed him in a gorgeous robe, and sent him again to Pilate.  12 And the same day Pilate and Herod were made friends together : for before they were at enmity between themselves.  13 And Pilate, when he had called together the chief priests and the rulers and the people,  14 Said unto them, Ye have brought this man unto me, as one that perverteth the people: and, behold , I, having examined him before you, have found no fault in this man touching those things whereof ye accuse him:  15 No, nor yet Herod: for I sent you to him; and, lo , nothing worthy of death is done unto him.  16 I will therefore chastise him, and release him. 17 (For of necessity he must release one unto them at the feast.)  18 And they cried out all at once, saying , Away with this man, and release unto us Barabbas:  19 (Who for a certain sedition made in the city, and for murder, was cast into prison.)  20 Pilate therefore, willing to release Jesus, spake again to them . 21 But they cried , saying , Crucify him, crucify him.  22 And he said unto them the third time, Why, what evil hath he done ? I have found no cause of death in him: I will therefore chastise him, and let him go . 23 And they were instant with loud voices, requiring that he might be crucified . And the voices of them and of the chief priests prevailed . 24 And Pilate gave sentence that it should be as they required.  25 And he released unto them him that for sedition and murder was cast into prison, whom they had desired ; but he delivered Jesus to their will.
Genesis 41:1-57
1 And it came to pass at the end of two full years, that Pharaoh dreamed : and, behold, he stood by the river.  2 And, behold, there came up out of the river seven well favoured kine and fatfleshed ; and they fed in a meadow.  3 And, behold, seven other kine came up after them out of the river, ill favoured and leanfleshed ; and stood by the other kine upon the brink of the river.  4 And the ill favoured and leanfleshed kine did eat up the seven well favoured and fat kine. So Pharaoh awoke . 5 And he slept and dreamed the second time: and, behold, seven ears of corn came up upon one stalk, rank and good.  6 And, behold, seven thin ears and blasted with the east wind sprung up after them.  7 And the seven thin ears devoured the seven rank and full ears. And Pharaoh awoke , and, behold, it was a dream.  8 And it came to pass in the morning that his spirit was troubled ; and he sent and called for all the magicians of Egypt, and all the wise men thereof: and Pharaoh told them his dream; but there was none that could interpret them unto Pharaoh.  9 Then spake the chief butler unto Pharaoh, saying , I do remember my faults this day:  10 Pharaoh was wroth with his servants, and put me in ward in the captain of the guard's house, both me and the chief baker : 11 And we dreamed a dream in one night, I and he; we dreamed each man according to the interpretation of his dream.  12 And there was there with us a young man, an Hebrew, servant to the captain of the guard; and we told him, and he interpreted to us our dreams; to each man according to his dream he did interpret . 13 And it came to pass, as he interpreted to us, so it was; me he restored unto mine office, and him he hanged . 14 Then Pharaoh sent and called Joseph, and they brought him hastily out of the dungeon: and he shaved himself, and changed his raiment, and came in unto Pharaoh.  15 And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, I have dreamed a dream, and there is none that can interpret it: and I have heard say of thee, that thou canst understand a dream to interpret it. 16 And Joseph answered Pharaoh, saying , It is not in me: God shall give Pharaoh an answer of peace.  17 And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, In my dream, behold, I stood upon the bank of the river:  18 And, behold, there came up out of the river seven kine, fatfleshed and well favoured; and they fed in a meadow:  19 And, behold, seven other kine came up after them, poor and very ill favoured and leanfleshed , such as I never saw in all the land of Egypt for badness:  20 And the lean and the ill favoured kine did eat up the first seven fat kine:  21 And when they had eaten them up , it could not be known that they had eaten them ; but they were still ill favoured, as at the beginning. So I awoke . 22 And I saw in my dream, and, behold, seven ears came up in one stalk, full and good:  23 And, behold, seven ears, withered , thin, and blasted with the east wind, sprung up after them:  24 And the thin ears devoured the seven good ears: and I told this unto the magicians; but there was none that could declare it to me. 25 And Joseph said unto Pharaoh, The dream of Pharaoh is one: God hath shewed Pharaoh what he is about to do . 26 The seven good kine are seven years; and the seven good ears are seven years: the dream is one.  27 And the seven thin and ill favoured kine that came up after them are seven years; and the seven empty ears blasted with the east wind shall be seven years of famine.  28 This is the thing which I have spoken unto Pharaoh: What God is about to do he sheweth unto Pharaoh.  29 Behold, there come seven years of great plenty throughout all the land of Egypt:  30 And there shall arise after them seven years of famine; and all the plenty shall be forgotten in the land of Egypt; and the famine shall consume the land;  31 And the plenty shall not be known in the land by reason of that famine following ; for it shall be very grievous.  32 And for that the dream was doubled unto Pharaoh twice; it is because the thing is established by God, and God will shortly bring it to pass . 33 Now therefore let Pharaoh look out a man discreet and wise, and set him over the land of Egypt.  34 Let Pharaoh do this, and let him appoint officers over the land, and take up the fifth part of the land of Egypt in the seven plenteous years.  35 And let them gather all the food of those good years that come , and lay up corn under the hand of Pharaoh, and let them keep food in the cities.  36 And that food shall be for store to the land against the seven years of famine, which shall be in the land of Egypt; that the land perish not through the famine.  37 And the thing was good in the eyes of Pharaoh, and in the eyes of all his servants.  38 And Pharaoh said unto his servants, Can we find such a one as this is, a man in whom the Spirit of God is? 39 And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, Forasmuch as God hath shewed thee all this, there is none so discreet and wise as thou art: 40 Thou shalt be over my house, and according unto thy word shall all my people be ruled : only in the throne will I be greater than thou. 41 And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, See , I have set thee over all the land of Egypt.  42 And Pharaoh took off his ring from his hand, and put it upon Joseph's hand, and arrayed him in vestures of fine linen, and put a gold chain about his neck;  43 And he made him to ride in the second chariot which he had; and they cried before him, Bow the knee: and he made him ruler over all the land of Egypt.  44 And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, I am Pharaoh, and without thee shall no man lift up his hand or foot in all the land of Egypt.  45 And Pharaoh called Joseph's name Zaphnathpaaneah; and he gave him to wife Asenath the daughter of Potipherah priest of On. And Joseph went out over all the land of Egypt.  46 And Joseph was thirty years old when he stood before Pharaoh king of Egypt. And Joseph went out from the presence of Pharaoh, and went throughout all the land of Egypt.  47 And in the seven plenteous years the earth brought forth by handfuls.  48 And he gathered up all the food of the seven years, which were in the land of Egypt, and laid up the food in the cities: the food of the field, which was round about every city, laid he up in the same.  49 And Joseph gathered corn as the sand of the sea, very much , until he left numbering ; for it was without number.  50 And unto Joseph were born two sons before the years of famine came , which Asenath the daughter of Potipherah priest of On bare unto him. 51 And Joseph called the name of the firstborn Manasseh: For God, said he, hath made me forget all my toil, and all my father's house.  52 And the name of the second called he Ephraim: For God hath caused me to be fruitful in the land of my affliction.  53 And the seven years of plenteousness, that was in the land of Egypt, were ended . 54 And the seven years of dearth began to come , according as Joseph had said : and the dearth was in all lands; but in all the land of Egypt there was bread.  55 And when all the land of Egypt was famished , the people cried to Pharaoh for bread: and Pharaoh said unto all the Egyptians, Go unto Joseph; what he saith to you, do . 56 And the famine was over all the face of the earth: And Joseph opened all the storehouses, and sold unto the Egyptians; and the famine waxed sore in the land of Egypt.  57 And all countries came into Egypt to Joseph for to buy corn; because that the famine was so sore in all lands.
Psalm 32:1-11
1 Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven , whose sin is covered . 2 Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile.  3 When I kept silence , my bones waxed old through my roaring all the day long. 4 For day and night thy hand was heavy upon me: my moisture is turned into the drought of summer. Selah.  5 I acknowledged my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid . I said , I will confess my transgressions unto the LORD; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah.  6 For this shall every one that is godly pray unto thee in a time when thou mayest be found : surely in the floods of great waters they shall not come nigh unto him. 7 Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah.  8 I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go : I will guide thee with mine eye.  9 Be ye not as the horse, or as the mule, which have no understanding : whose mouth must be held in with bit and bridle, lest they come near unto thee. 10 Many sorrows shall be to the wicked: but he that trusteth in the LORD, mercy shall compass him about. 11 Be glad in the LORD, and rejoice , ye righteous: and shout for joy, all ye that are upright in heart.

January 31, 2014 - King James Version
Luke 22:39-71
39 And he came out , and went , as he was wont, to the mount of Olives; and his disciples also followed him.  40 And when he was at the place, he said unto them, Pray that ye enter not into temptation.  41 And he was withdrawn from them about a stone's cast, and kneeled down , and prayed , 42 Saying , Father, if thou be willing , remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done . 43 And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him.  44 And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.  45 And when he rose up from prayer, and was come to his disciples, he found them sleeping for sorrow,  46 And said unto them, Why sleep ye ? rise and pray , lest ye enter into temptation.  47 And while he yet spake , behold a multitude, and he that was called Judas, one of the twelve, went before them, and drew near unto Jesus to kiss him.  48 But Jesus said unto him, Judas, betrayest thou the Son of man with a kiss?  49 When they which were about him saw what would follow , they said unto him, Lord , shall we smite with the sword?  50 And one of them smote the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear.  51 And Jesus answered and said , Suffer ye thus far. And he touched his ear, and healed him.  52 Then Jesus said unto the chief priests, and captains of the temple, and the elders, which were come to him, Be ye come out , as against a thief, with swords and staves?  53 When I was daily with you in the temple, ye stretched forth no hands against me: but this is your hour, and the power of darkness.  54 Then took they him, and led him, and brought him into the high priest's house. And Peter followed afar off.  55 And when they had kindled a fire in the midst of the hall, and were set down together , Peter sat down among them.  56 But a certain maid beheld him as he sat by the fire, and earnestly looked upon him, and said , This man was also with him.  57 And he denied him, saying , Woman, I know him not.  58 And after a little while another saw him, and said , Thou art also of them. And Peter said , Man, I am not.  59 And about the space of one hour after another confidently affirmed , saying , Of a truth this fellow also was with him: for he is a Galilaean.  60 And Peter said , Man, I know not what thou sayest . And immediately, while he yet spake , the cock crew . 61 And the Lord turned , and looked upon Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how he had said unto him, Before the cock crow , thou shalt deny me thrice.  62 And Peter went out, and wept bitterly.  63 And the men that held Jesus mocked him, and smote him. 64 And when they had blindfolded him, they struck him on the face, and asked him, saying , Prophesy , who is it that smote thee?  65 And many other things blasphemously spake they against him.  66 And as soon as it was day, the elders of the people and the chief priests and the scribes came together , and led him into their council, saying , 67 Art thou the Christ? tell us. And he said unto them, If I tell you, ye will not believe : 68 And if I also ask you, ye will not answer me, nor let me go . 69 Hereafter shall the Son of man sit on the right hand of the power of God.  70 Then said they all, Art thou then the Son of God? And he said unto them, Ye say that I am . 71 And they said , What need we any further witness? for we ourselves have heard of his own mouth.
Genesis 40:1-23
1 And it came to pass after these things, that the butler of the king of Egypt and his baker had offended their lord the king of Egypt.  2 And Pharaoh was wroth against two of his officers, against the chief of the butlers , and against the chief of the bakers . 3 And he put them in ward in the house of the captain of the guard, into the prison , the place where Joseph was bound . 4 And the captain of the guard charged Joseph with them, and he served them: and they continued a season in ward.  5 And they dreamed a dream both of them, each man his dream in one night, each man according to the interpretation of his dream, the butler and the baker of the king of Egypt, which were bound in the prison . 6 And Joseph came in unto them in the morning, and looked upon them, and, behold, they were sad . 7 And he asked Pharaoh's officers that were with him in the ward of his lord's house, saying , Wherefore look ye so sadly to day?  8 And they said unto him, We have dreamed a dream, and there is no interpreter of it. And Joseph said unto them, Do not interpretations belong to God? tell me them, I pray you. 9 And the chief butler told his dream to Joseph, and said to him, In my dream, behold, a vine was before me;  10 And in the vine were three branches: and it was as though it budded , and her blossoms shot forth ; and the clusters thereof brought forth ripe grapes:  11 And Pharaoh's cup was in my hand: and I took the grapes, and pressed them into Pharaoh's cup, and I gave the cup into Pharaoh's hand.  12 And Joseph said unto him, This is the interpretation of it: The three branches are three days:  13 Yet within three days shall Pharaoh lift up thine head, and restore thee unto thy place: and thou shalt deliver Pharaoh's cup into his hand, after the former manner when thou wast his butler . 14 But think on me when it shall be well with thee, and shew kindness, I pray thee, unto me, and make mention of me unto Pharaoh, and bring me out of this house:  15 For indeed I was stolen away out of the land of the Hebrews: and here also have I done nothing that they should put me into the dungeon.  16 When the chief baker saw that the interpretation was good, he said unto Joseph, I also was in my dream, and, behold, I had three white baskets on my head:  17 And in the uppermost basket there was of all manner of bakemeats for Pharaoh; and the birds did eat them out of the basket upon my head.  18 And Joseph answered and said , This is the interpretation thereof: The three baskets are three days:  19 Yet within three days shall Pharaoh lift up thy head from off thee, and shall hang thee on a tree; and the birds shall eat thy flesh from off thee. 20 And it came to pass the third day, which was Pharaoh's birthday , that he made a feast unto all his servants: and he lifted up the head of the chief butler and of the chief baker among his servants.  21 And he restored the chief butler unto his butlership again ; and he gave the cup into Pharaoh's hand:  22 But he hanged the chief baker : as Joseph had interpreted to them. 23 Yet did not the chief butler remember Joseph, but forgat him.
Psalm 31:1-24
1 In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust ; let me never be ashamed : deliver me in thy righteousness.  2 Bow down thine ear to me; deliver me speedily: be thou my strong rock, for an house of defence to save me. 3 For thou art my rock and my fortress; therefore for thy name's sake lead me, and guide me. 4 Pull me out of the net that they have laid privily for me: for thou art my strength.  5 Into thine hand I commit my spirit: thou hast redeemed me, O LORD God of truth.  6 I have hated them that regard lying vanities: but I trust in the LORD.  7 I will be glad and rejoice in thy mercy: for thou hast considered my trouble; thou hast known my soul in adversities;  8 And hast not shut me up into the hand of the enemy : thou hast set my feet in a large room.  9 Have mercy upon me, O LORD, for I am in trouble : mine eye is consumed with grief, yea, my soul and my belly.  10 For my life is spent with grief, and my years with sighing: my strength faileth because of mine iniquity, and my bones are consumed . 11 I was a reproach among all mine enemies , but especially among my neighbours, and a fear to mine acquaintance : they that did see me without fled from me. 12 I am forgotten as a dead man out of mind: I am like a broken vessel.  13 For I have heard the slander of many: fear was on every side: while they took counsel together against me, they devised to take away my life.  14 But I trusted in thee, O LORD: I said , Thou art my God.  15 My times are in thy hand: deliver me from the hand of mine enemies , and from them that persecute me. 16 Make thy face to shine upon thy servant: save me for thy mercies' sake. 17 Let me not be ashamed , O LORD; for I have called upon thee: let the wicked be ashamed , and let them be silent in the grave.  18 Let the lying lips be put to silence ; which speak grievous things proudly and contemptuously against the righteous.  19 Oh how great is thy goodness, which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee; which thou hast wrought for them that trust in thee before the sons of men!  20 Thou shalt hide them in the secret of thy presence from the pride of man: thou shalt keep them secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues.  21 Blessed be the LORD: for he hath shewed me his marvellous kindness in a strong city.  22 For I said in my haste , I am cut off from before thine eyes: nevertheless thou heardest the voice of my supplications when I cried unto thee. 23 O love the LORD, all ye his saints: for the LORD preserveth the faithful , and plentifully rewardeth the proud doer . 24 Be of good courage , and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the LORD.

Luke 22:1-38
1 Now the feast of unleavened bread drew nigh , which is called the Passover.  2 And the chief priests and scribes sought how they might kill him; for they feared the people.  3 Then entered Satan into Judas surnamed Iscariot, being of the number of the twelve.  4 And he went his way , and communed with the chief priests and captains, how he might betray him unto them.  5 And they were glad , and covenanted to give him money.  6 And he promised , and sought opportunity to betray him unto them in the absence of the multitude.  7 Then came the day of unleavened bread, when the passover must be killed . 8 And he sent Peter and John, saying , Go and prepare us the passover, that we may eat . 9 And they said unto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare ? 10 And he said unto them, Behold , when ye are entered into the city, there shall a man meet you, bearing a pitcher of water; follow him into the house where he entereth in . 11 And ye shall say unto the goodman of the house, The Master saith unto thee, Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples?  12 And he shall shew you a large upper room furnished : there make ready . 13 And they went , and found as he had said unto them: and they made ready the passover.  14 And when the hour was come , he sat down , and the twelve apostles with him.  15 And he said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer : 16 For I say unto you , I will not any more eat thereof , until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God.  17 And he took the cup, and gave thanks , and said , Take this, and divide it among yourselves:  18 For I say unto you , I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come . 19 And he took bread, and gave thanks , and brake it, and gave unto them, saying , This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.  20 Likewise also the cup after supper , saying , This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.  21 But, behold , the hand of him that betrayeth me is with me on the table.  22 And truly the Son of man goeth , as it was determined : but woe unto that man by whom he is betrayed ! 23 And they began to enquire among themselves, which of them it was that should do this thing.  24 And there was also a strife among them, which of them should be accounted the greatest.  25 And he said unto them, The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and they that exercise authority upon them are called benefactors.  26 But ye shall not be so: but he that is greatest among you, let him be as the younger; and he that is chief , as he that doth serve . 27 For whether is greater, he that sitteth at meat , or he that serveth ? is not he that sitteth at meat ? but I am among you as he that serveth . 28 Ye are they which have continued with me in my temptations.  29 And I appoint unto you a kingdom, as my Father hath appointed unto me;  30 That ye may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.  31 And the Lord said , Simon, Simon, behold , Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat:  32 But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted , strengthen thy brethren.  33 And he said unto him, Lord, I am ready to go with thee, both into prison, and to death.  34 And he said , I tell thee, Peter, the cock shall not crow this day, before that thou shalt thrice deny that thou knowest me.  35 And he said unto them, When I sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes , lacked ye any thing? And they said , Nothing.  36 Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one. 37 For I say unto you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished in me, And he was reckoned among the transgressors: for the things concerning me have an end.  38 And they said , Lord, behold , here are two swords. And he said unto them, It is enough.
Genesis 39:1-23
1 And Joseph was brought down to Egypt; and Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh, captain of the guard, an Egyptian , bought him of the hands of the Ishmeelites, which had brought him down thither. 2 And the LORD was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian.  3 And his master saw that the LORD was with him, and that the LORD made all that he did to prosper in his hand.  4 And Joseph found grace in his sight, and he served him: and he made him overseer over his house, and all that he had he put into his hand.  5 And it came to pass from the time that he had made him overseer in his house, and over all that he had, that the LORD blessed the Egyptian's house for Joseph's sake; and the blessing of the LORD was upon all that he had in the house, and in the field.  6 And he left all that he had in Joseph's hand; and he knew not ought he had, save the bread which he did eat . And Joseph was a goodly person, and well favoured.  7 And it came to pass after these things, that his master's wife cast her eyes upon Joseph; and she said , Lie with me. 8 But he refused , and said unto his master's wife, Behold, my master wotteth not what is with me in the house, and he hath committed all that he hath to my hand;  9 There is none greater in this house than I; neither hath he kept back any thing from me but thee, because thou art his wife: how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?  10 And it came to pass, as she spake to Joseph day by day, that he hearkened not unto her, to lie by her, or to be with her. 11 And it came to pass about this time, that Joseph went into the house to do his business; and there was none of the men of the house there within. 12 And she caught him by his garment, saying , Lie with me: and he left his garment in her hand, and fled , and got him out.  13 And it came to pass, when she saw that he had left his garment in her hand, and was fled forth,  14 That she called unto the men of her house, and spake unto them, saying , See , he hath brought in an Hebrew unto us to mock us; he came in unto me to lie with me, and I cried with a loud voice:  15 And it came to pass, when he heard that I lifted up my voice and cried , that he left his garment with me, and fled , and got him out.  16 And she laid up his garment by her, until his lord came home.  17 And she spake unto him according to these words, saying , The Hebrew servant, which thou hast brought unto us, came in unto me to mock me: 18 And it came to pass, as I lifted up my voice and cried , that he left his garment with me, and fled out.  19 And it came to pass, when his master heard the words of his wife, which she spake unto him, saying , After this manner did thy servant to me; that his wrath was kindled . 20 And Joseph's master took him, and put him into the prison , a place where the king's prisoners were bound : and he was there in the prison . 21 But the LORD was with Joseph, and shewed him mercy, and gave him favour in the sight of the keeper of the prison . 22 And the keeper of the prison committed to Joseph's hand all the prisoners that were in the prison ; and whatsoever they did there, he was the doer of it. 23 The keeper of the prison looked not to any thing that was under his hand; because the LORD was with him, and that which he did , the LORD made it to prosper .
Psalm 30:1-12
1 I will extol thee, O LORD; for thou hast lifted me up , and hast not made my foes to rejoice over me. 2 O LORD my God, I cried unto thee, and thou hast healed me. 3 O LORD, thou hast brought up my soul from the grave: thou hast kept me alive , that I should not go down to the pit.  4 Sing unto the LORD, O ye saints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.  5 For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.  6 And in my prosperity I said , I shall never be moved . 7 LORD, by thy favour thou hast made my mountain to stand strong: thou didst hide thy face, and I was troubled . 8 I cried to thee, O LORD; and unto the LORD I made supplication . 9 What profit is there in my blood, when I go down to the pit? Shall the dust praise thee? shall it declare thy truth?  10 Hear , O LORD, and have mercy upon me: LORD, be thou my helper . 11 Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing: thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness;  12 To the end that my glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent . O LORD my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever.

Luke 21:1-38
1 And he looked up , and saw the rich men casting their gifts into the treasury.  2 And he saw also a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites.  3 And he said , Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all:  4 For all these have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God: but she of her penury hath cast in all the living that she had . 5 And as some spake of the temple, how it was adorned with goodly stones and gifts, he said , 6 As for these things which ye behold , the days will come , in the which there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down . 7 And they asked him, saying , Master, but when shall these things be ? and what sign will there be when these things shall come to pass ? 8 And he said , Take heed that ye be not deceived : for many shall come in my name, saying , I am Christ; and the time draweth near : go ye not therefore after them.  9 But when ye shall hear of wars and commotions, be not terrified : for these things must first come to pass ; but the end is not by and by.  10 Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom:  11 And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.  12 But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name's sake.  13 And it shall turn to you for a testimony.  14 Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what ye shall answer : 15 For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist . 16 And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death . 17 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake.  18 But there shall not an hair of your head perish . 19 In your patience possess ye your souls.  20 And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh . 21 Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out ; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto . 22 For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled . 23 But woe unto them that are with child , and to them that give suck , in those days! for there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people.  24 And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled . 25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring ; 26 Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken . 27 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.  28 And when these things begin to come to pass , then look up , and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh . 29 And he spake to them a parable; Behold the fig tree, and all the trees;  30 When they now shoot forth , ye see and know of your own selves that summer is now nigh at hand.  31 So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass , know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand.  32 Verily I say unto you , This generation shall not pass away , till all be fulfilled . 33 Heaven and earth shall pass away : but my words shall not pass away . 34 And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.  35 For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.  36 Watch ye therefore, and pray always , that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass , and to stand before the Son of man.  37 And in the day time he was teaching in the temple; and at night he went out , and abode in the mount that is called the mount of Olives.  38 And all the people came early in the morning to him in the temple, for to hear him.
Genesis 38:1-30
1 And it came to pass at that time, that Judah went down from his brethren, and turned in to a certain Adullamite, whose name was Hirah.  2 And Judah saw there a daughter of a certain Canaanite, whose name was Shuah; and he took her , and went in unto her. 3 And she conceived , and bare a son; and he called his name Er.  4 And she conceived again, and bare a son; and she called his name Onan.  5 And she yet again conceived , and bare a son; and called his name Shelah: and he was at Chezib, when she bare him. 6 And Judah took a wife for Er his firstborn, whose name was Tamar.  7 And Er, Judah's firstborn, was wicked in the sight of the LORD; and the LORD slew him. 8 And Judah said unto Onan, Go in unto thy brother's wife, and marry her, and raise up seed to thy brother.  9 And Onan knew that the seed should not be his; and it came to pass, when he went in unto his brother's wife, that he spilled it on the ground, lest that he should give seed to his brother.  10 And the thing which he did displeased the LORD: wherefore he slew him also. 11 Then said Judah to Tamar his daughter in law, Remain a widow at thy father's house, till Shelah my son be grown : for he said , Lest peradventure he die also, as his brethren did. And Tamar went and dwelt in her father's house.  12 And in process of time the daughter of Shuah Judah's wife died ; and Judah was comforted , and went up unto his sheepshearers to Timnath, he and his friend Hirah the Adullamite.  13 And it was told Tamar, saying , Behold thy father in law goeth up to Timnath to shear his sheep.  14 And she put her widow's garments off from her, and covered her with a vail, and wrapped herself , and sat in an open place, which is by the way to Timnath; for she saw that Shelah was grown , and she was not given unto him to wife.  15 When Judah saw her , he thought her to be an harlot ; because she had covered her face.  16 And he turned unto her by the way, and said , Go to , I pray thee, let me come in unto thee; (for he knew not that she was his daughter in law.) And she said , What wilt thou give me, that thou mayest come in unto me? 17 And he said , I will send thee a kid from the flock. And she said , Wilt thou give me a pledge, till thou send it? 18 And he said , What pledge shall I give thee? And she said , Thy signet, and thy bracelets, and thy staff that is in thine hand. And he gave it her, and came in unto her, and she conceived by him. 19 And she arose , and went away , and laid by her vail from her, and put on the garments of her widowhood.  20 And Judah sent the kid by the hand of his friend the Adullamite, to receive his pledge from the woman's hand: but he found her not. 21 Then he asked the men of that place, saying , Where is the harlot, that was openly by the way side? And they said , There was no harlot in this place. 22 And he returned to Judah, and said , I cannot find her; and also the men of the place said , that there was no harlot in this place. 23 And Judah said , Let her take it to her, lest we be shamed: behold, I sent this kid, and thou hast not found her. 24 And it came to pass about three months after, that it was told Judah, saying , Tamar thy daughter in law hath played the harlot ; and also, behold, she is with child by whoredom. And Judah said , Bring her forth , and let her be burnt . 25 When she was brought forth , she sent to her father in law, saying , By the man, whose these are, am I with child: and she said , Discern , I pray thee, whose are these, the signet, and bracelets, and staff.  26 And Judah acknowledged them, and said , She hath been more righteous than I; because that I gave her not to Shelah my son. And he knew her again no more. 27 And it came to pass in the time of her travail , that, behold, twins were in her womb.  28 And it came to pass, when she travailed , that the one put out his hand: and the midwife took and bound upon his hand a scarlet thread, saying , This came out first.  29 And it came to pass, as he drew back his hand, that, behold, his brother came out : and she said , How hast thou broken forth ? this breach be upon thee: therefore his name was called Pharez.  30 And afterward came out his brother, that had the scarlet thread upon his hand: and his name was called Zarah.
Psalm 29:1-11
1 Give unto the LORD, O ye mighty , give unto the LORD glory and strength.  2 Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.  3 The voice of the LORD is upon the waters: the God of glory thundereth : the LORD is upon many waters.  4 The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is full of majesty.  5 The voice of the LORD breaketh the cedars; yea, the LORD breaketh the cedars of Lebanon.  6 He maketh them also to skip like a calf; Lebanon and Sirion like a young unicorn.  7 The voice of the LORD divideth the flames of fire.  8 The voice of the LORD shaketh the wilderness; the LORD shaketh the wilderness of Kadesh.  9 The voice of the LORD maketh the hinds to calve , and discovereth the forests: and in his temple doth every one speak of his glory.  10 The LORD sitteth upon the flood; yea, the LORD sitteth King for ever.  11 The LORD will give strength unto his people; the LORD will bless his people with peace.

January 27, 2014 - King James Version
Luke 20:1-26
1 And it came to pass , that on one of those days, as he taught the people in the temple, and preached the gospel , the chief priests and the scribes came upon him with the elders,  2 And spake unto him, saying , Tell us, by what authority doest thou these things? or who is he that gave thee this authority?  3 And he answered and said unto them, I will also ask you one thing; and answer me:  4 The baptism of John, was it from heaven, or of men?  5 And they reasoned with themselves, saying , If we shall say , From heaven; he will say , Why then believed ye him not?  6 But and if we say , Of men; all the people will stone us: for they be persuaded that John was a prophet.  7 And they answered , that they could not tell whence it was. 8 And Jesus said unto them, Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things.  9 Then began he to speak to the people this parable; A certain man planted a vineyard, and let it forth to husbandmen, and went into a far country for a long time.  10 And at the season he sent a servant to the husbandmen, that they should give him of the fruit of the vineyard: but the husbandmen beat him, and sent him away empty.  11 And again he sent another servant: and they beat him also, and entreated him shamefully , and sent him away empty.  12 And again he sent a third: and they wounded him also, and cast him out . 13 Then said the lord of the vineyard, What shall I do ? I will send my beloved son: it may be they will reverence him when they see him.  14 But when the husbandmen saw him, they reasoned among themselves, saying , This is the heir: come , let us kill him, that the inheritance may be ours.  15 So they cast him out of the vineyard, and killed him. What therefore shall the lord of the vineyard do unto them?  16 He shall come and destroy these husbandmen, and shall give the vineyard to others. And when they heard it, they said , God forbid . 17 And he beheld them, and said , What is this then that is written , The stone which the builders rejected , the same is become the head of the corner?  18 Whosoever shall fall upon that stone shall be broken ; but on whomsoever it shall fall , it will grind him to powder . 19 And the chief priests and the scribes the same hour sought to lay hands on him; and they feared the people: for they perceived that he had spoken this parable against them.  20 And they watched him, and sent forth spies, which should feign themselves just men, that they might take hold of his words, that so they might deliver him unto the power and authority of the governor.  21 And they asked him, saying , Master, we know that thou sayest and teachest rightly , neither acceptest thou the person of any, but teachest the way of God truly : 22 Is it lawful for us to give tribute unto Caesar, or no?  23 But he perceived their craftiness, and said unto them, Why tempt ye me?  24 Shew me a penny. Whose image and superscription hath it ? They answered and said , Caesar's.  25 And he said unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which be Caesar's, and unto God the things which be God's.  26 And they could not take hold of his words before the people: and they marvelled at his answer, and held their peace .
Genesis 35:1-29
1 And God said unto Jacob, Arise , go up to Bethel, and dwell there: and make there an altar unto God, that appeared unto thee when thou fleddest from the face of Esau thy brother.  2 Then Jacob said unto his household, and to all that were with him, Put away the strange gods that are among you, and be clean , and change your garments:  3 And let us arise , and go up to Bethel; and I will make there an altar unto God, who answered me in the day of my distress, and was with me in the way which I went . 4 And they gave unto Jacob all the strange gods which were in their hand, and all their earrings which were in their ears; and Jacob hid them under the oak which was by Shechem.  5 And they journeyed : and the terror of God was upon the cities that were round about them, and they did not pursue after the sons of Jacob.  6 So Jacob came to Luz, which is in the land of Canaan, that is, Bethel, he and all the people that were with him. 7 And he built there an altar, and called the place Elbethel: because there God appeared unto him, when he fled from the face of his brother.  8 But Deborah Rebekah's nurse died , and she was buried beneath Bethel under an oak: and the name of it was called Allonbachuth.  9 And God appeared unto Jacob again, when he came out of Padanaram, and blessed him. 10 And God said unto him, Thy name is Jacob: thy name shall not be called any more Jacob, but Israel shall be thy name: and he called his name Israel.  11 And God said unto him, I am God Almighty: be fruitful and multiply ; a nation and a company of nations shall be of thee, and kings shall come out of thy loins;  12 And the land which I gave Abraham and Isaac, to thee I will give it , and to thy seed after thee will I give the land.  13 And God went up from him in the place where he talked with him. 14 And Jacob set up a pillar in the place where he talked with him, even a pillar of stone: and he poured a drink offering thereon, and he poured oil thereon. 15 And Jacob called the name of the place where God spake with him, Bethel.  16 And they journeyed from Bethel; and there was but a little way to come to Ephrath: and Rachel travailed , and she had hard labour . 17 And it came to pass, when she was in hard labour , that the midwife said unto her, Fear not; thou shalt have this son also. 18 And it came to pass, as her soul was in departing , (for she died ) that she called his name Benoni: but his father called him Benjamin.  19 And Rachel died , and was buried in the way to Ephrath, which is Bethlehem.  20 And Jacob set a pillar upon her grave: that is the pillar of Rachel's grave unto this day.  21 And Israel journeyed , and spread his tent beyond the tower of Edar.  22 And it came to pass, when Israel dwelt in that land, that Reuben went and lay with Bilhah his father's concubine: and Israel heard it. Now the sons of Jacob were twelve : 23 The sons of Leah; Reuben, Jacob's firstborn, and Simeon, and Levi, and Judah, and Issachar, and Zebulun:  24 The sons of Rachel; Joseph, and Benjamin:  25 And the sons of Bilhah, Rachel's handmaid; Dan, and Naphtali:  26 And the sons of Zilpah, Leah's handmaid; Gad, and Asher: these are the sons of Jacob, which were born to him in Padanaram.  27 And Jacob came unto Isaac his father unto Mamre, unto the city of Arbah, which is Hebron, where Abraham and Isaac sojourned . 28 And the days of Isaac were an hundred and fourscore years.  29 And Isaac gave up the ghost , and died , and was gathered unto his people, being old and full of days: and his sons Esau and Jacob buried him.
Genesis 36:1-43
1 Now these are the generations of Esau, who is Edom.  2 Esau took his wives of the daughters of Canaan; Adah the daughter of Elon the Hittite, and Aholibamah the daughter of Anah the daughter of Zibeon the Hivite;  3 And Bashemath Ishmael's daughter, sister of Nebajoth.  4 And Adah bare to Esau Eliphaz; and Bashemath bare Reuel;  5 And Aholibamah bare Jeush, and Jaalam, and Korah: these are the sons of Esau, which were born unto him in the land of Canaan.  6 And Esau took his wives, and his sons, and his daughters, and all the persons of his house, and his cattle, and all his beasts, and all his substance, which he had got in the land of Canaan; and went into the country from the face of his brother Jacob.  7 For their riches were more than that they might dwell together; and the land wherein they were strangers could not bear them because of their cattle.  8 Thus dwelt Esau in mount Seir: Esau is Edom.  9 And these are the generations of Esau the father of the Edomites in mount Seir:  10 These are the names of Esau's sons; Eliphaz the son of Adah the wife of Esau, Reuel the son of Bashemath the wife of Esau.  11 And the sons of Eliphaz were Teman, Omar, Zepho, and Gatam, and Kenaz.  12 And Timna was concubine to Eliphaz Esau's son; and she bare to Eliphaz Amalek: these were the sons of Adah Esau's wife.  13 And these are the sons of Reuel; Nahath, and Zerah, Shammah, and Mizzah: these were the sons of Bashemath Esau's wife.  14 And these were the sons of Aholibamah, the daughter of Anah the daughter of Zibeon, Esau's wife: and she bare to Esau Jeush, and Jaalam, and Korah.  15 These were dukes of the sons of Esau: the sons of Eliphaz the firstborn son of Esau; duke Teman, duke Omar, duke Zepho, duke Kenaz,  16 Duke Korah, duke Gatam, and duke Amalek: these are the dukes that came of Eliphaz in the land of Edom; these were the sons of Adah.  17 And these are the sons of Reuel Esau's son; duke Nahath, duke Zerah, duke Shammah, duke Mizzah: these are the dukes that came of Reuel in the land of Edom; these are the sons of Bashemath Esau's wife.  18 And these are the sons of Aholibamah Esau's wife; duke Jeush, duke Jaalam, duke Korah: these were the dukes that came of Aholibamah the daughter of Anah, Esau's wife.  19 These are the sons of Esau, who is Edom, and these are their dukes.  20 These are the sons of Seir the Horite, who inhabited the land; Lotan, and Shobal, and Zibeon, and Anah,  21 And Dishon, and Ezer, and Dishan: these are the dukes of the Horites, the children of Seir in the land of Edom.  22 And the children of Lotan were Hori and Hemam; and Lotan's sister was Timna.  23 And the children of Shobal were these; Alvan, and Manahath, and Ebal, Shepho, and Onam.  24 And these are the children of Zibeon; both Ajah, and Anah: this was that Anah that found the mules in the wilderness, as he fed the asses of Zibeon his father.  25 And the children of Anah were these; Dishon, and Aholibamah the daughter of Anah.  26 And these are the children of Dishon; Hemdan, and Eshban, and Ithran, and Cheran.  27 The children of Ezer are these; Bilhan, and Zaavan, and Akan.  28 The children of Dishan are these; Uz, and Aran.  29 These are the dukes that came of the Horites; duke Lotan, duke Shobal, duke Zibeon, duke Anah,  30 Duke Dishon, duke Ezer, duke Dishan: these are the dukes that came of Hori, among their dukes in the land of Seir.  31 And these are the kings that reigned in the land of Edom, before there reigned any king over the children of Israel.  32 And Bela the son of Beor reigned in Edom: and the name of his city was Dinhabah.  33 And Bela died , and Jobab the son of Zerah of Bozrah reigned in his stead. 34 And Jobab died , and Husham of the land of Temani reigned in his stead. 35 And Husham died , and Hadad the son of Bedad, who smote Midian in the field of Moab, reigned in his stead: and the name of his city was Avith.  36 And Hadad died , and Samlah of Masrekah reigned in his stead. 37 And Samlah died , and Saul of Rehoboth by the river reigned in his stead. 38 And Saul died , and Baalhanan the son of Achbor reigned in his stead. 39 And Baalhanan the son of Achbor died , and Hadar reigned in his stead: and the name of his city was Pau; and his wife's name was Mehetabel, the daughter of Matred, the daughter of Mezahab.  40 And these are the names of the dukes that came of Esau, according to their families, after their places, by their names; duke Timnah, duke Alvah, duke Jetheth,  41 Duke Aholibamah, duke Elah, duke Pinon,  42 Duke Kenaz, duke Teman, duke Mibzar,  43 Duke Magdiel, duke Iram: these be the dukes of Edom, according to their habitations in the land of their possession: he is Esau the father of the Edomites.
Psalm 27:1-14
1 The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear ? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid ? 2 When the wicked , even mine enemies and my foes , came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell . 3 Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear : though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident . 4 One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple.  5 For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.  6 And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing , yea, I will sing praises unto the LORD.  7 Hear , O LORD, when I cry with my voice: have mercy also upon me, and answer me. 8 When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, LORD, will I seek . 9 Hide not thy face far from me; put not thy servant away in anger: thou hast been my help; leave me not, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation.  10 When my father and my mother forsake me, then the LORD will take me up . 11 Teach me thy way, O LORD, and lead me in a plain path, because of mine enemies . 12 Deliver me not over unto the will of mine enemies: for false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breathe out cruelty.  13 I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.  14 Wait on the LORD: be of good courage , and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait , I say, on the LORD.

Luke 20:27-47
27 Then came to him certain of the Sadducees, which deny that there is any resurrection; and they asked him,  28 Saying , Master, Moses wrote unto us, If any man's brother die , having a wife, and he die without children, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.  29 There were therefore seven brethren: and the first took a wife, and died without children.  30 And the second took her to wife, and he died childless.  31 And the third took her; and in like manner the seven also: and they left no children, and died . 32 Last of all the woman died also.  33 Therefore in the resurrection whose wife of them is she ? for seven had her to wife.  34 And Jesus answering said unto them, The children of this world marry , and are given in marriage : 35 But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry , nor are given in marriage : 36 Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection.  37 Now that the dead are raised , even Moses shewed at the bush, when he calleth the Lord the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.  38 For he is not a God of the dead, but of the living : for all live unto him.  39 Then certain of the scribes answering said , Master, thou hast well said . 40 And after that they durst not ask him any question at all. 41 And he said unto them, How say they that Christ is David's son?  42 And David himself saith in the book of Psalms, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand,  43 Till I make thine enemies thy footstool . 44 David therefore calleth him Lord, how is he then his son?  45 Then in the audience of all the people he said unto his disciples,  46 Beware of the scribes, which desire to walk in long robes, and love greetings in the markets, and the highest seats in the synagogues, and the chief rooms at feasts;  47 Which devour widows' houses, and for a shew make long prayers : the same shall receive greater damnation.
Genesis 37:1-36
1 And Jacob dwelt in the land wherein his father was a stranger, in the land of Canaan.  2 These are the generations of Jacob. Joseph, being seventeen years old, was feeding the flock with his brethren; and the lad was with the sons of Bilhah, and with the sons of Zilpah, his father's wives: and Joseph brought unto his father their evil report.  3 Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his children, because he was the son of his old age: and he made him a coat of many colours.  4 And when his brethren saw that their father loved him more than all his brethren, they hated him, and could not speak peaceably unto him. 5 And Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told it his brethren: and they hated him yet the more . 6 And he said unto them, Hear , I pray you, this dream which I have dreamed : 7 For, behold, we were binding sheaves in the field, and, lo, my sheaf arose , and also stood upright ; and, behold, your sheaves stood round about , and made obeisance to my sheaf.  8 And his brethren said to him, Shalt thou indeed reign over us? or shalt thou indeed have dominion over us? And they hated him yet the more for his dreams, and for his words.  9 And he dreamed yet another dream, and told it his brethren, and said , Behold, I have dreamed a dream more; and, behold, the sun and the moon and the eleven stars made obeisance to me. 10 And he told it to his father, and to his brethren: and his father rebuked him, and said unto him, What is this dream that thou hast dreamed ? Shall I and thy mother and thy brethren indeed come to bow down ourselves to thee to the earth?  11 And his brethren envied him; but his father observed the saying.  12 And his brethren went to feed their father's flock in Shechem.  13 And Israel said unto Joseph, Do not thy brethren feed the flock in Shechem? come , and I will send thee unto them. And he said to him, Here am I. 14 And he said to him, Go , I pray thee, see whether it be well with thy brethren, and well with the flocks; and bring me word again . So he sent him out of the vale of Hebron, and he came to Shechem.  15 And a certain man found him , and, behold, he was wandering in the field: and the man asked him , saying , What seekest thou? 16 And he said , I seek my brethren: tell me, I pray thee, where they feed their flocks. 17 And the man said , They are departed hence; for I heard them say , Let us go to Dothan. And Joseph went after his brethren, and found them in Dothan.  18 And when they saw him afar off, even before he came near unto them, they conspired against him to slay him. 19 And they said one to another, Behold, this dreamer cometh . 20 Come now therefore, and let us slay him, and cast him into some pit, and we will say , Some evil beast hath devoured him: and we shall see what will become of his dreams.  21 And Reuben heard it, and he delivered him out of their hands; and said , Let us not kill him. 22 And Reuben said unto them, Shed no blood, but cast him into this pit that is in the wilderness, and lay no hand upon him; that he might rid him out of their hands, to deliver him to his father again . 23 And it came to pass, when Joseph was come unto his brethren, that they stript Joseph out of his coat, his coat of many colours that was on him; 24 And they took him, and cast him into a pit: and the pit was empty, there was no water in it. 25 And they sat down to eat bread: and they lifted up their eyes and looked , and, behold, a company of Ishmeelites came from Gilead with their camels bearing spicery and balm and myrrh, going to carry it down to Egypt.  26 And Judah said unto his brethren, What profit is it if we slay our brother, and conceal his blood?  27 Come , and let us sell him to the Ishmeelites, and let not our hand be upon him; for he is our brother and our flesh. And his brethren were content . 28 Then there passed by Midianites merchantmen ; and they drew and lifted up Joseph out of the pit, and sold Joseph to the Ishmeelites for twenty pieces of silver: and they brought Joseph into Egypt.  29 And Reuben returned unto the pit; and, behold, Joseph was not in the pit; and he rent his clothes.  30 And he returned unto his brethren, and said , The child is not; and I, whither shall I go ? 31 And they took Joseph's coat, and killed a kid of the goats, and dipped the coat in the blood;  32 And they sent the coat of many colours, and they brought it to their father; and said , This have we found : know now whether it be thy son's coat or no. 33 And he knew it , and said , It is my son's coat; an evil beast hath devoured him; Joseph is without doubt rent in pieces . 34 And Jacob rent his clothes, and put sackcloth upon his loins, and mourned for his son many days.  35 And all his sons and all his daughters rose up to comfort him; but he refused to be comforted ; and he said , For I will go down into the grave unto my son mourning. Thus his father wept for him. 36 And the Midianites sold him into Egypt unto Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh's, and captain of the guard.
Psalm 28:1-9
1 Unto thee will I cry , O LORD my rock; be not silent to me: lest, if thou be silent to me, I become like them that go down into the pit.  2 Hear the voice of my supplications, when I cry unto thee, when I lift up my hands toward thy holy oracle.  3 Draw me not away with the wicked, and with the workers of iniquity, which speak peace to their neighbours, but mischief is in their hearts.  4 Give them according to their deeds, and according to the wickedness of their endeavours: give them after the work of their hands; render to them their desert.  5 Because they regard not the works of the LORD, nor the operation of his hands, he shall destroy them, and not build them up . 6 Blessed be the LORD, because he hath heard the voice of my supplications.  7 The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped : therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth ; and with my song will I praise him. 8 The LORD is their strength, and he is the saving strength of his anointed.  9 Save thy people, and bless thine inheritance: feed them also, and lift them up for ever.

Luke 19:28-48
28 And when he had thus spoken , he went before, ascending up to Jerusalem.  29 And it came to pass , when he was come nigh to Bethphage and Bethany, at the mount called the mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples,  30 Saying , Go ye into the village over against you; in the which at your entering ye shall find a colt tied , whereon yet never man sat : loose him, and bring him hither. 31 And if any man ask you, Why do ye loose him? thus shall ye say unto him, Because the Lord hath need of him.  32 And they that were sent went their way , and found even as he had said unto them.  33 And as they were loosing the colt, the owners thereof said unto them, Why loose ye the colt?  34 And they said , The Lord hath need of him.  35 And they brought him to Jesus: and they cast their garments upon the colt, and they set Jesus thereon . 36 And as he went , they spread their clothes in the way.  37 And when he was come nigh , even now at the descent of the mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen ; 38 Saying , Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest.  39 And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said unto him, Master, rebuke thy disciples.  40 And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace , the stones would immediately cry out . 41 And when he was come near , he beheld the city, and wept over it,  42 Saying , If thou hadst known , even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes.  43 For the days shall come upon thee, that thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee round , and keep thee in on every side,  44 And shall lay thee even with the ground , and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.  45 And he went into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold therein , and them that bought ; 46 Saying unto them, It is written , My house is the house of prayer: but ye have made it a den of thieves.  47 And he taught daily in the temple. But the chief priests and the scribes and the chief of the people sought to destroy him,  48 And could not find what they might do : for all the people were very attentive to hear him.
Genesis 34:1-31
1 And Dinah the daughter of Leah, which she bare unto Jacob, went out to see the daughters of the land.  2 And when Shechem the son of Hamor the Hivite, prince of the country, saw her, he took her, and lay with her, and defiled her . 3 And his soul clave unto Dinah the daughter of Jacob, and he loved the damsel, and spake kindly unto the damsel.  4 And Shechem spake unto his father Hamor, saying , Get me this damsel to wife.  5 And Jacob heard that he had defiled Dinah his daughter: now his sons were with his cattle in the field: and Jacob held his peace until they were come . 6 And Hamor the father of Shechem went out unto Jacob to commune with him. 7 And the sons of Jacob came out of the field when they heard it: and the men were grieved , and they were very wroth , because he had wrought folly in Israel in lying with Jacob's daughter; which thing ought not to be done . 8 And Hamor communed with them, saying , The soul of my son Shechem longeth for your daughter: I pray you give her him to wife.  9 And make ye marriages with us, and give your daughters unto us, and take our daughters unto you. 10 And ye shall dwell with us: and the land shall be before you; dwell and trade ye therein, and get you possessions therein. 11 And Shechem said unto her father and unto her brethren, Let me find grace in your eyes, and what ye shall say unto me I will give . 12 Ask me never so much dowry and gift, and I will give according as ye shall say unto me: but give me the damsel to wife.  13 And the sons of Jacob answered Shechem and Hamor his father deceitfully, and said , because he had defiled Dinah their sister:  14 And they said unto them, We cannot do this thing, to give our sister to one that is uncircumcised; for that were a reproach unto us: 15 But in this will we consent unto you: If ye will be as we be, that every male of you be circumcised ; 16 Then will we give our daughters unto you, and we will take your daughters to us, and we will dwell with you, and we will become one people.  17 But if ye will not hearken unto us, to be circumcised ; then will we take our daughter, and we will be gone . 18 And their words pleased Hamor, and Shechem Hamor's son.  19 And the young man deferred not to do the thing, because he had delight in Jacob's daughter: and he was more honourable than all the house of his father.  20 And Hamor and Shechem his son came unto the gate of their city, and communed with the men of their city, saying , 21 These men are peaceable with us; therefore let them dwell in the land, and trade therein; for the land, behold, it is large enough for them; let us take their daughters to us for wives, and let us give them our daughters.  22 Only herein will the men consent unto us for to dwell with us, to be one people, if every male among us be circumcised , as they are circumcised . 23 Shall not their cattle and their substance and every beast of theirs be ours? only let us consent unto them, and they will dwell with us. 24 And unto Hamor and unto Shechem his son hearkened all that went out of the gate of his city; and every male was circumcised , all that went out of the gate of his city.  25 And it came to pass on the third day, when they were sore , that two of the sons of Jacob, Simeon and Levi, Dinah's brethren, took each man his sword, and came upon the city boldly, and slew all the males.  26 And they slew Hamor and Shechem his son with the edge of the sword, and took Dinah out of Shechem's house, and went out . 27 The sons of Jacob came upon the slain, and spoiled the city, because they had defiled their sister.  28 They took their sheep, and their oxen, and their asses, and that which was in the city, and that which was in the field,  29 And all their wealth, and all their little ones, and their wives took they captive , and spoiled even all that was in the house.  30 And Jacob said to Simeon and Levi, Ye have troubled me to make me to stink among the inhabitants of the land, among the Canaanites and the Perizzites: and I being few in number, they shall gather themselves together against me, and slay me ; and I shall be destroyed , I and my house.  31 And they said , Should he deal with our sister as with an harlot ?
Psalm 26:1-12
1 Judge me, O LORD; for I have walked in mine integrity: I have trusted also in the LORD; therefore I shall not slide . 2 Examine me, O LORD, and prove me; try my reins and my heart.  3 For thy lovingkindness is before mine eyes: and I have walked in thy truth.  4 I have not sat with vain persons, neither will I go in with dissemblers . 5 I have hated the congregation of evil doers ; and will not sit with the wicked.  6 I will wash mine hands in innocency: so will I compass thine altar, O LORD:  7 That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving, and tell of all thy wondrous works . 8 LORD, I have loved the habitation of thy house, and the place where thine honour dwelleth.  9 Gather not my soul with sinners, nor my life with bloody men:  10 In whose hands is mischief, and their right hand is full of bribes.  11 But as for me, I will walk in mine integrity: redeem me, and be merciful unto me. 12 My foot standeth in an even place: in the congregations will I bless the LORD.

Luke 18:18-43
18 And a certain ruler asked him, saying , Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?  19 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, that is, God.  20 Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery , Do not kill , Do not steal , Do not bear false witness , Honour thy father and thy mother.  21 And he said , All these have I kept from my youth up. 22 Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast , and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come , follow me.  23 And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful: for he was very rich.  24 And when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, he said , How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!  25 For it is easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.  26 And they that heard it said , Who then can be saved ? 27 And he said , The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.  28 Then Peter said , Lo , we have left all, and followed thee.  29 And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you , There is no man that hath left house, or parents, or brethren, or wife, or children, for the kingdom of God's sake,  30 Who shall not receive manifold more in this present time, and in the world to come life everlasting.  31 Then he took unto him the twelve, and said unto them, Behold , we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished . 32 For he shall be delivered unto the Gentiles, and shall be mocked , and spitefully entreated , and spitted on : 33 And they shall scourge him, and put him to death : and the third day he shall rise again . 34 And they understood none of these things: and this saying was hid from them , neither knew they the things which were spoken . 35 And it came to pass , that as he was come nigh unto Jericho, a certain blind man sat by the way side begging : 36 And hearing the multitude pass by , he asked what it meant . 37 And they told him, that Jesus of Nazareth passeth by . 38 And he cried , saying , Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me.  39 And they which went before rebuked him, that he should hold his peace : but he cried so much the more, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me.  40 And Jesus stood , and commanded him to be brought unto him: and when he was come near , he asked him,  41 Saying , What wilt thou that I shall do unto thee? And he said , Lord, that I may receive my sight . 42 And Jesus said unto him, Receive thy sight : thy faith hath saved thee.  43 And immediately he received his sight , and followed him, glorifying God: and all the people, when they saw it, gave praise unto God.
Genesis 31:1-55
1 And he heard the words of Laban's sons, saying , Jacob hath taken away all that was our father's; and of that which was our father's hath he gotten all this glory.  2 And Jacob beheld the countenance of Laban, and, behold, it was not toward him as before.  3 And the LORD said unto Jacob, Return unto the land of thy fathers, and to thy kindred; and I will be with thee. 4 And Jacob sent and called Rachel and Leah to the field unto his flock,  5 And said unto them, I see your father's countenance, that it is not toward me as before; but the God of my father hath been with me. 6 And ye know that with all my power I have served your father.  7 And your father hath deceived me, and changed my wages ten times; but God suffered him not to hurt me.  8 If he said thus, The speckled shall be thy wages; then all the cattle bare speckled: and if he said thus, The ringstraked shall be thy hire; then bare all the cattle ringstraked.  9 Thus God hath taken away the cattle of your father, and given them to me. 10 And it came to pass at the time that the cattle conceived , that I lifted up mine eyes, and saw in a dream, and, behold, the rams which leaped upon the cattle were ringstraked, speckled, and grisled.  11 And the angel of God spake unto me in a dream, saying, Jacob: And I said , Here am I. 12 And he said , Lift up now thine eyes, and see , all the rams which leap upon the cattle are ringstraked, speckled, and grisled: for I have seen all that Laban doeth unto thee. 13 I am the God of Bethel, where thou anointedst the pillar, and where thou vowedst a vow unto me: now arise , get thee out from this land, and return unto the land of thy kindred.  14 And Rachel and Leah answered and said unto him, Is there yet any portion or inheritance for us in our father's house?  15 Are we not counted of him strangers? for he hath sold us, and hath quite devoured also our money.  16 For all the riches which God hath taken from our father, that is ours, and our children's: now then, whatsoever God hath said unto thee, do . 17 Then Jacob rose up , and set his sons and his wives upon camels;  18 And he carried away all his cattle, and all his goods which he had gotten , the cattle of his getting, which he had gotten in Padanaram, for to go to Isaac his father in the land of Canaan.  19 And Laban went to shear his sheep: and Rachel had stolen the images that were her father's.  20 And Jacob stole away unawares to Laban the Syrian, in that he told him not that he fled . 21 So he fled with all that he had; and he rose up , and passed over the river, and set his face toward the mount Gilead.  22 And it was told Laban on the third day that Jacob was fled . 23 And he took his brethren with him, and pursued after him seven days' journey; and they overtook him in the mount Gilead.  24 And God came to Laban the Syrian in a dream by night, and said unto him, Take heed that thou speak not to Jacob either good or bad.  25 Then Laban overtook Jacob. Now Jacob had pitched his tent in the mount: and Laban with his brethren pitched in the mount of Gilead.  26 And Laban said to Jacob, What hast thou done , that thou hast stolen away unawares to me, and carried away my daughters, as captives taken with the sword?  27 Wherefore didst thou flee away secretly , and steal away from me; and didst not tell me, that I might have sent thee away with mirth, and with songs, with tabret, and with harp?  28 And hast not suffered me to kiss my sons and my daughters? thou hast now done foolishly in so doing . 29 It is in the power of my hand to do you hurt: but the God of your father spake unto me yesternight, saying , Take thou heed that thou speak not to Jacob either good or bad.  30 And now, though thou wouldest needs be gone , because thou sore longedst after thy father's house, yet wherefore hast thou stolen my gods?  31 And Jacob answered and said to Laban, Because I was afraid : for I said , Peradventure thou wouldest take by force thy daughters from me. 32 With whomsoever thou findest thy gods, let him not live : before our brethren discern thou what is thine with me, and take it to thee. For Jacob knew not that Rachel had stolen them. 33 And Laban went into Jacob's tent, and into Leah's tent, and into the two maidservants' tents; but he found them not. Then went he out of Leah's tent, and entered into Rachel's tent.  34 Now Rachel had taken the images, and put them in the camel's furniture, and sat upon them. And Laban searched all the tent, but found them not. 35 And she said to her father, Let it not displease my lord that I cannot rise up before thee; for the custom of women is upon me. And he searched , but found not the images.  36 And Jacob was wroth , and chode with Laban: and Jacob answered and said to Laban, What is my trespass? what is my sin, that thou hast so hotly pursued after me?  37 Whereas thou hast searched all my stuff, what hast thou found of all thy household stuff? set it here before my brethren and thy brethren, that they may judge betwixt us both.  38 This twenty years have I been with thee; thy ewes and thy she goats have not cast their young , and the rams of thy flock have I not eaten . 39 That which was torn of beasts I brought not unto thee; I bare the loss of it; of my hand didst thou require it, whether stolen by day, or stolen by night.  40 Thus I was; in the day the drought consumed me, and the frost by night; and my sleep departed from mine eyes.  41 Thus have I been twenty years in thy house; I served thee fourteen years for thy two daughters, and six years for thy cattle: and thou hast changed my wages ten times.  42 Except the God of my father, the God of Abraham, and the fear of Isaac, had been with me, surely thou hadst sent me away now empty. God hath seen mine affliction and the labour of my hands, and rebuked thee yesternight.  43 And Laban answered and said unto Jacob, These daughters are my daughters, and these children are my children, and these cattle are my cattle, and all that thou seest is mine: and what can I do this day unto these my daughters, or unto their children which they have born ? 44 Now therefore come thou , let us make a covenant, I and thou; and let it be for a witness between me and thee. 45 And Jacob took a stone, and set it up for a pillar.  46 And Jacob said unto his brethren, Gather stones; and they took stones, and made an heap: and they did eat there upon the heap.  47 And Laban called it Jegarsahadutha: but Jacob called it Galeed.  48 And Laban said , This heap is a witness between me and thee this day. Therefore was the name of it called Galeed;  49 And Mizpah; for he said , The LORD watch between me and thee, when we are absent one from another.  50 If thou shalt afflict my daughters, or if thou shalt take other wives beside my daughters, no man is with us; see , God is witness betwixt me and thee. 51 And Laban said to Jacob, Behold this heap, and behold this pillar, which I have cast betwixt me and thee; 52 This heap be witness, and this pillar be witness, that I will not pass over this heap to thee, and that thou shalt not pass over this heap and this pillar unto me, for harm.  53 The God of Abraham, and the God of Nahor, the God of their father, judge betwixt us. And Jacob sware by the fear of his father Isaac.  54 Then Jacob offered sacrifice upon the mount, and called his brethren to eat bread: and they did eat bread, and tarried all night in the mount.  55 And early in the morning Laban rose up , and kissed his sons and his daughters, and blessed them: and Laban departed , and returned unto his place.
Psalm 24:1-10
1 The earth is the LORD'S, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein. 2 For he hath founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods.  3 Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in his holy place?  4 He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.  5 He shall receive the blessing from the LORD, and righteousness from the God of his salvation.  6 This is the generation of them that seek him, that seek thy face, O Jacob. Selah.  7 Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up , ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in . 8 Who is this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle.  9 Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up , ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in . 10 Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, he is the King of glory. Selah.

Luke 19:1-27
1 And Jesus entered and passed through Jericho.  2 And, behold , there was a man named Zacchaeus, which was the chief among the publicans, and he was rich.  3 And he sought to see Jesus who he was ; and could not for the press, because he was little of stature.  4 And he ran before, and climbed up into a sycomore tree to see him: for he was to pass that way. 5 And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up , and saw him, and said unto him, Zacchaeus, make haste , and come down ; for to day I must abide at thy house.  6 And he made haste , and came down , and received him joyfully . 7 And when they saw it, they all murmured , saying , That he was gone to be guest with a man that is a sinner.  8 And Zacchaeus stood , and said unto the Lord; Behold , Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation , I restore him fourfold.  9 And Jesus said unto him , This day is salvation come to this house, forsomuch as he also is a son of Abraham.  10 For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost . 11 And as they heard these things, he added and spake a parable, because he was nigh to Jerusalem, and because they thought that the kingdom of God should immediately appear . 12 He said therefore, A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return . 13 And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come . 14 But his citizens hated him, and sent a message after him, saying , We will not have this man to reign over us.  15 And it came to pass , that when he was returned , having received the kingdom, then he commanded these servants to be called unto him, to whom he had given the money, that he might know how much every man had gained by trading . 16 Then came the first, saying , Lord, thy pound hath gained ten pounds.  17 And he said unto him, Well, thou good servant: because thou hast been faithful in a very little, have thou authority over ten cities.  18 And the second came , saying , Lord, thy pound hath gained five pounds.  19 And he said likewise to him, Be thou also over five cities.  20 And another came , saying , Lord, behold , here is thy pound, which I have kept laid up in a napkin:  21 For I feared thee, because thou art an austere man: thou takest up that thou layedst not down , and reapest that thou didst not sow . 22 And he saith unto him, Out of thine own mouth will I judge thee, thou wicked servant. Thou knewest that I was an austere man, taking up that I laid not down , and reaping that I did not sow : 23 Wherefore then gavest not thou my money into the bank, that at my coming I might have required mine own with usury?  24 And he said unto them that stood by , Take from him the pound, and give it to him that hath ten pounds.  25 (And they said unto him, Lord, he hath ten pounds.)  26 For I say unto you, That unto every one which hath shall be given ; and from him that hath not, even that he hath shall be taken away from him.  27 But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me.
Genesis 32:1-32
1 And Jacob went on his way, and the angels of God met him. 2 And when Jacob saw them , he said , This is God's host: and he called the name of that place Mahanaim.  3 And Jacob sent messengers before him to Esau his brother unto the land of Seir, the country of Edom.  4 And he commanded them, saying , Thus shall ye speak unto my lord Esau; Thy servant Jacob saith thus, I have sojourned with Laban, and stayed there until now: 5 And I have oxen, and asses, flocks, and menservants, and womenservants: and I have sent to tell my lord, that I may find grace in thy sight.  6 And the messengers returned to Jacob, saying , We came to thy brother Esau, and also he cometh to meet thee , and four hundred men with him. 7 Then Jacob was greatly afraid and distressed : and he divided the people that was with him, and the flocks, and herds, and the camels, into two bands;  8 And said , If Esau come to the one company, and smite it , then the other company which is left shall escape.  9 And Jacob said , O God of my father Abraham, and God of my father Isaac, the LORD which saidst unto me, Return unto thy country, and to thy kindred, and I will deal well with thee: 10 I am not worthy of the least of all the mercies, and of all the truth, which thou hast shewed unto thy servant; for with my staff I passed over this Jordan; and now I am become two bands.  11 Deliver me , I pray thee, from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Esau: for I fear him, lest he will come and smite me , and the mother with the children.  12 And thou saidst , I will surely do thee good , and make thy seed as the sand of the sea, which cannot be numbered for multitude.  13 And he lodged there that same night; and took of that which came to his hand a present for Esau his brother;  14 Two hundred she goats, and twenty he goats, two hundred ewes, and twenty rams,  15 Thirty milch camels with their colts, forty kine, and ten bulls, twenty she asses, and ten foals.  16 And he delivered them into the hand of his servants, every drove by themselves; and said unto his servants, Pass over before me, and put a space betwixt drove and drove.  17 And he commanded the foremost, saying , When Esau my brother meeteth thee , and asketh thee , saying , Whose art thou? and whither goest thou? and whose are these before thee? 18 Then thou shalt say , They be thy servant Jacob's; it is a present sent unto my lord Esau: and, behold, also he is behind us.  19 And so commanded he the second, and the third, and all that followed the droves, saying , On this manner shall ye speak unto Esau, when ye find him. 20 And say ye moreover, Behold, thy servant Jacob is behind us. For he said , I will appease him with the present that goeth before me, and afterward I will see his face; peradventure he will accept of me.  21 So went the present over before him: and himself lodged that night in the company.  22 And he rose up that night, and took his two wives, and his two womenservants, and his eleven sons, and passed over the ford Jabbok.  23 And he took them , and sent them over the brook, and sent over that he had. 24 And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day.  25 And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob's thigh was out of joint , as he wrestled with him. 26 And he said , Let me go , for the day breaketh . And he said , I will not let thee go , except thou bless me. 27 And he said unto him, What is thy name? And he said , Jacob.  28 And he said , Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed . 29 And Jacob asked him, and said , Tell me, I pray thee, thy name. And he said , Wherefore is it that thou dost ask after my name? And he blessed him there. 30 And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved . 31 And as he passed over Penuel the sun rose upon him, and he halted upon his thigh.  32 Therefore the children of Israel eat not of the sinew which shrank, which is upon the hollow of the thigh, unto this day: because he touched the hollow of Jacob's thigh in the sinew that shrank.
Genesis 33:1-20
1 And Jacob lifted up his eyes, and looked , and, behold, Esau came , and with him four hundred men. And he divided the children unto Leah, and unto Rachel, and unto the two handmaids.  2 And he put the handmaids and their children foremost, and Leah and her children after, and Rachel and Joseph hindermost.  3 And he passed over before them, and bowed himself to the ground seven times, until he came near to his brother.  4 And Esau ran to meet him , and embraced him, and fell on his neck, and kissed him : and they wept . 5 And he lifted up his eyes, and saw the women and the children; and said , Who are those with thee? And he said , The children which God hath graciously given thy servant.  6 Then the handmaidens came near , they and their children, and they bowed themselves . 7 And Leah also with her children came near , and bowed themselves : and after came Joseph near and Rachel, and they bowed themselves. 8 And he said , What meanest thou by all this drove which I met ? And he said , These are to find grace in the sight of my lord.  9 And Esau said , I have enough, my brother; keep that thou hast unto thyself. 10 And Jacob said , Nay, I pray thee, if now I have found grace in thy sight, then receive my present at my hand: for therefore I have seen thy face, as though I had seen the face of God, and thou wast pleased with me . 11 Take , I pray thee, my blessing that is brought to thee; because God hath dealt graciously with me , and because I have enough. And he urged him, and he took it. 12 And he said , Let us take our journey , and let us go , and I will go before thee. 13 And he said unto him, My lord knoweth that the children are tender, and the flocks and herds with young are with me: and if men should overdrive them one day, all the flock will die . 14 Let my lord, I pray thee, pass over before his servant: and I will lead on softly, according as the cattle that goeth before me and the children be able to endure, until I come unto my lord unto Seir.  15 And Esau said , Let me now leave with thee some of the folk that are with me. And he said , What needeth it? let me find grace in the sight of my lord.  16 So Esau returned that day on his way unto Seir.  17 And Jacob journeyed to Succoth, and built him an house, and made booths for his cattle: therefore the name of the place is called Succoth.  18 And Jacob came to Shalem, a city of Shechem, which is in the land of Canaan, when he came from Padanaram; and pitched his tent before the city.  19 And he bought a parcel of a field, where he had spread his tent, at the hand of the children of Hamor, Shechem's father, for an hundred pieces of money.  20 And he erected there an altar, and called it Elelohe-Israel.
Psalm 25:1-22
1 Unto thee, O LORD, do I lift up my soul.  2 O my God, I trust in thee: let me not be ashamed , let not mine enemies triumph over me. 3 Yea, let none that wait on thee be ashamed : let them be ashamed which transgress without cause.  4 Shew me thy ways, O LORD; teach me thy paths.  5 Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.  6 Remember , O LORD, thy tender mercies and thy lovingkindnesses; for they have been ever of old.  7 Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions: according to thy mercy remember thou me for thy goodness' sake, O LORD.  8 Good and upright is the LORD: therefore will he teach sinners in the way.  9 The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way.  10 All the paths of the LORD are mercy and truth unto such as keep his covenant and his testimonies.  11 For thy name's sake, O LORD, pardon mine iniquity; for it is great.  12 What man is he that feareth the LORD? him shall he teach in the way that he shall choose . 13 His soul shall dwell at ease; and his seed shall inherit the earth.  14 The secret of the LORD is with them that fear him; and he will shew them his covenant.  15 Mine eyes are ever toward the LORD; for he shall pluck my feet out of the net.  16 Turn thee unto me, and have mercy upon me; for I am desolate and afflicted.  17 The troubles of my heart are enlarged : O bring thou me out of my distresses.  18 Look upon mine affliction and my pain; and forgive all my sins.  19 Consider mine enemies ; for they are many ; and they hate me with cruel hatred.  20 O keep my soul, and deliver me: let me not be ashamed ; for I put my trust in thee. 21 Let integrity and uprightness preserve me; for I wait on thee. 22 Redeem Israel, O God, out of all his troubles.

Luke 18:1-17
1 And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray , and not to faint ; 2 Saying , There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man:  3 And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying , Avenge me of mine adversary.  4 And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man;  5 Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.  6 And the Lord said , Hear what the unjust judge saith . 7 And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them?  8 I tell you that he will avenge them speedily . Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh , shall he find faith on the earth?  9 And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:  10 Two men went up into the temple to pray ; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.  11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.  12 I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess . 13 And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying , God be merciful to me a sinner.  14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased ; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted . 15 And they brought unto him also infants, that he would touch them: but when his disciples saw it, they rebuked them.  16 But Jesus called them unto him, and said , Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.  17 Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein .
Genesis 29:31-35
31 And when the LORD saw that Leah was hated , he opened her womb: but Rachel was barren.  32 And Leah conceived , and bare a son, and she called his name Reuben: for she said , Surely the LORD hath looked upon my affliction; now therefore my husband will love me. 33 And she conceived again, and bare a son; and said , Because the LORD hath heard that I was hated , he hath therefore given me this son also: and she called his name Simeon.  34 And she conceived again , and bare a son; and said , Now this time will my husband be joined unto me, because I have born him three sons: therefore was his name called Levi.  35 And she conceived again, and bare a son: and she said , Now will I praise the LORD: therefore she called his name Judah; and left bearing .
Genesis 30:1-43
1 And when Rachel saw that she bare Jacob no children, Rachel envied her sister; and said unto Jacob, Give me children, or else I die . 2 And Jacob's anger was kindled against Rachel: and he said , Am I in God's stead, who hath withheld from thee the fruit of the womb?  3 And she said , Behold my maid Bilhah, go in unto her; and she shall bear upon my knees, that I may also have children by her. 4 And she gave him Bilhah her handmaid to wife: and Jacob went in unto her. 5 And Bilhah conceived , and bare Jacob a son.  6 And Rachel said , God hath judged me, and hath also heard my voice, and hath given me a son: therefore called she his name Dan.  7 And Bilhah Rachel's maid conceived again, and bare Jacob a second son.  8 And Rachel said , With great wrestlings have I wrestled with my sister, and I have prevailed : and she called his name Naphtali.  9 When Leah saw that she had left bearing , she took Zilpah her maid, and gave her Jacob to wife.  10 And Zilpah Leah's maid bare Jacob a son.  11 And Leah said , A troop cometh : and she called his name Gad.  12 And Zilpah Leah's maid bare Jacob a second son.  13 And Leah said , Happy am I, for the daughters will call me blessed : and she called his name Asher.  14 And Reuben went in the days of wheat harvest, and found mandrakes in the field, and brought them unto his mother Leah. Then Rachel said to Leah, Give me , I pray thee, of thy son's mandrakes.  15 And she said unto her, Is it a small matter that thou hast taken my husband? and wouldest thou take away my son's mandrakes also? And Rachel said , Therefore he shall lie with thee to night for thy son's mandrakes.  16 And Jacob came out of the field in the evening, and Leah went out to meet him, and said , Thou must come in unto me; for surely I have hired thee with my son's mandrakes. And he lay with her that night.  17 And God hearkened unto Leah, and she conceived , and bare Jacob the fifth son.  18 And Leah said , God hath given me my hire, because I have given my maiden to my husband: and she called his name Issachar.  19 And Leah conceived again, and bare Jacob the sixth son.  20 And Leah said , God hath endued me with a good dowry; now will my husband dwell with me, because I have born him six sons: and she called his name Zebulun.  21 And afterwards she bare a daughter, and called her name Dinah.  22 And God remembered Rachel, and God hearkened to her, and opened her womb.  23 And she conceived , and bare a son; and said , God hath taken away my reproach:  24 And she called his name Joseph; and said , The LORD shall add to me another son.  25 And it came to pass, when Rachel had born Joseph, that Jacob said unto Laban, Send me away , that I may go unto mine own place, and to my country.  26 Give me my wives and my children, for whom I have served thee, and let me go : for thou knowest my service which I have done thee. 27 And Laban said unto him, I pray thee, if I have found favour in thine eyes, tarry: for I have learned by experience that the LORD hath blessed me for thy sake.  28 And he said , Appoint me thy wages, and I will give it. 29 And he said unto him, Thou knowest how I have served thee, and how thy cattle was with me. 30 For it was little which thou hadst before I came, and it is now increased unto a multitude; and the LORD hath blessed thee since my coming: and now when shall I provide for mine own house also? 31 And he said , What shall I give thee ? And Jacob said , Thou shalt not give me any thing: if thou wilt do this thing for me, I will again feed and keep thy flock:  32 I will pass through all thy flock to day, removing from thence all the speckled and spotted cattle, and all the brown cattle among the sheep, and the spotted and speckled among the goats: and of such shall be my hire.  33 So shall my righteousness answer for me in time to come, when it shall come for my hire before thy face: every one that is not speckled and spotted among the goats, and brown among the sheep, that shall be counted stolen with me. 34 And Laban said , Behold, I would it might be according to thy word.  35 And he removed that day the he goats that were ringstraked and spotted , and all the she goats that were speckled and spotted , and every one that had some white in it, and all the brown among the sheep, and gave them into the hand of his sons.  36 And he set three days' journey betwixt himself and Jacob: and Jacob fed the rest of Laban's flocks.  37 And Jacob took him rods of green poplar, and of the hazel and chesnut tree; and pilled white strakes in them, and made the white appear which was in the rods.  38 And he set the rods which he had pilled before the flocks in the gutters in the watering troughs when the flocks came to drink , that they should conceive when they came to drink . 39 And the flocks conceived before the rods, and brought forth cattle ringstraked, speckled, and spotted . 40 And Jacob did separate the lambs, and set the faces of the flocks toward the ringstraked, and all the brown in the flock of Laban; and he put his own flocks by themselves, and put them not unto Laban's cattle.  41 And it came to pass, whensoever the stronger cattle did conceive , that Jacob laid the rods before the eyes of the cattle in the gutters, that they might conceive among the rods.  42 But when the cattle were feeble , he put them not in : so the feebler were Laban's, and the stronger Jacob's.  43 And the man increased exceedingly , and had much cattle, and maidservants, and menservants, and camels, and asses.
Psalm 23:1-6
1 The LORD is my shepherd ; I shall not want . 2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.  3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me 5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies : thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.  6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever .

1 Then said he unto the disciples, It is impossible but that offences will come : but woe unto him, through whom they come ! 2 It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones.  3 Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent , forgive him.  4 And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying , I repent ; thou shalt forgive him.  5 And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith.  6 And the Lord said , If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root , and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you.  7 But which of you, having a servant plowing or feeding cattle , will say unto him by and by, when he is come from the field, Go and sit down to meat ? 8 And will not rather say unto him, Make ready wherewith I may sup , and gird thyself , and serve me, till I have eaten and drunken ; and afterward thou shalt eat and drink ? 9 Doth he thank that servant because he did the things that were commanded him? I trow not.  10 So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say , We are unprofitable servants : we have done that which was our duty to do . 11 And it came to pass , as he went to Jerusalem, that he passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee.  12 And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off:  13 And they lifted up their voices, and said , Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.  14 And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass , that, as they went , they were cleansed . 15 And one of them, when he saw that he was healed , turned back , and with a loud voice glorified God,  16 And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks : and he was a Samaritan.  17 And Jesus answering said , Were there not ten cleansed ? but where are the nine?  18 There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger.  19 And he said unto him, Arise , go thy way : thy faith hath made thee whole . 20 And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come , he answered them and said , The kingdom of God cometh not with observation:  21 Neither shall they say , Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold , the kingdom of God is within you.  22 And he said unto the disciples, The days will come , when ye shall desire to see one of the days of the Son of man, and ye shall not see it. 23 And they shall say to you, See here; or, see there: go not after them, nor follow them. 24 For as the lightning, that lighteneth out of the one part under heaven, shineth unto the other part under heaven; so shall also the Son of man be in his day.  25 But first must he suffer many things, and be rejected of this generation.  26 And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.  27 They did eat , they drank , they married wives , they were given in marriage , until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came , and destroyed them all.  28 Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat , they drank , they bought , they sold , they planted , they builded ; 29 But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.  30 Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed . 31 In that day, he which shall be upon the housetop, and his stuff in the house, let him not come down to take it away : and he that is in the field, let him likewise not return back . 32 Remember Lot's wife.  33 Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it.  34 I tell you, in that night there shall be two men in one bed; the one shall be taken , and the other shall be left . 35 Two women shall be grinding together ; the one shall be taken , and the other left . 36 Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be taken , and the other left .  37 And they answered and said unto him, Where, Lord? And he said unto them, Wheresoever the body is, thither will the eagles be gathered together .
Genesis 29:1-30
1 Then Jacob went on his journey, and came into the land of the people of the east.  2 And he looked , and behold a well in the field, and, lo, there were three flocks of sheep lying by it; for out of that well they watered the flocks: and a great stone was upon the well's mouth.  3 And thither were all the flocks gathered : and they rolled the stone from the well's mouth, and watered the sheep, and put the stone again upon the well's mouth in his place.  4 And Jacob said unto them, My brethren, whence be ye? And they said , Of Haran are we. 5 And he said unto them, Know ye Laban the son of Nahor? And they said , We know him. 6 And he said unto them, Is he well? And they said , He is well: and, behold, Rachel his daughter cometh with the sheep.  7 And he said , Lo, it is yet high day, neither is it time that the cattle should be gathered together : water ye the sheep, and go and feed them. 8 And they said , We cannot , until all the flocks be gathered together , and till they roll the stone from the well's mouth; then we water the sheep.  9 And while he yet spake with them, Rachel came with her father's sheep: for she kept them . 10 And it came to pass, when Jacob saw Rachel the daughter of Laban his mother's brother, and the sheep of Laban his mother's brother, that Jacob went near , and rolled the stone from the well's mouth, and watered the flock of Laban his mother's brother.  11 And Jacob kissed Rachel, and lifted up his voice, and wept . 12 And Jacob told Rachel that he was her father's brother, and that he was Rebekah's son: and she ran and told her father.  13 And it came to pass, when Laban heard the tidings of Jacob his sister's son, that he ran to meet him, and embraced him, and kissed him, and brought him to his house. And he told Laban all these things.  14 And Laban said to him, Surely thou art my bone and my flesh. And he abode with him the space of a month.  15 And Laban said unto Jacob, Because thou art my brother, shouldest thou therefore serve me for nought? tell me, what shall thy wages be? 16 And Laban had two daughters: the name of the elder was Leah, and the name of the younger was Rachel.  17 Leah was tender eyed; but Rachel was beautiful and well favoured.  18 And Jacob loved Rachel; and said , I will serve thee seven years for Rachel thy younger daughter.  19 And Laban said , It is better that I give her to thee, than that I should give her to another man: abide with me. 20 And Jacob served seven years for Rachel; and they seemed unto him but a few days, for the love he had to her. 21 And Jacob said unto Laban, Give me my wife, for my days are fulfilled , that I may go in unto her. 22 And Laban gathered together all the men of the place, and made a feast.  23 And it came to pass in the evening, that he took Leah his daughter, and brought her to him; and he went in unto her. 24 And Laban gave unto his daughter Leah Zilpah his maid for an handmaid.  25 And it came to pass, that in the morning, behold, it was Leah: and he said to Laban, What is this thou hast done unto me? did not I serve with thee for Rachel? wherefore then hast thou beguiled me? 26 And Laban said , It must not be so done in our country, to give the younger before the firstborn.  27 Fulfil her week, and we will give thee this also for the service which thou shalt serve with me yet seven other years.  28 And Jacob did so, and fulfilled her week: and he gave him Rachel his daughter to wife also. 29 And Laban gave to Rachel his daughter Bilhah his handmaid to be her maid.  30 And he went in also unto Rachel, and he loved also Rachel more than Leah, and served with him yet seven other years.
Psalm 22:1-31
1 My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? why art thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring?  2 O my God, I cry in the daytime, but thou hearest not; and in the night season, and am not silent.  3 But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.  4 Our fathers trusted in thee: they trusted , and thou didst deliver them. 5 They cried unto thee, and were delivered : they trusted in thee, and were not confounded . 6 But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people.  7 All they that see me laugh me to scorn : they shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying, 8 He trusted on the LORD that he would deliver him: let him deliver him, seeing he delighted in him. 9 But thou art he that took me out of the womb: thou didst make me hope when I was upon my mother's breasts.  10 I was cast upon thee from the womb: thou art my God from my mother's belly.  11 Be not far from me; for trouble is near; for there is none to help . 12 Many bulls have compassed me: strong bulls of Bashan have beset me round . 13 They gaped upon me with their mouths, as a ravening and a roaring lion.  14 I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint : my heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of my bowels.  15 My strength is dried up like a potsherd; and my tongue cleaveth to my jaws; and thou hast brought me into the dust of death.  16 For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet.  17 I may tell all my bones: they look and stare upon me. 18 They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture.  19 But be not thou far from me, O LORD: O my strength, haste thee to help me. 20 Deliver my soul from the sword; my darling from the power of the dog.  21 Save me from the lion's mouth: for thou hast heard me from the horns of the unicorns.  22 I will declare thy name unto my brethren: in the midst of the congregation will I praise thee. 23 Ye that fear the LORD, praise him; all ye the seed of Jacob, glorify him; and fear him, all ye the seed of Israel.  24 For he hath not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted; neither hath he hid his face from him; but when he cried unto him, he heard . 25 My praise shall be of thee in the great congregation: I will pay my vows before them that fear him. 26 The meek shall eat and be satisfied : they shall praise the LORD that seek him: your heart shall live for ever.  27 All the ends of the world shall remember and turn unto the LORD: and all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before thee. 28 For the kingdom is the LORD'S: and he is the governor among the nations.  29 All they that be fat upon earth shall eat and worship : all they that go down to the dust shall bow before him: and none can keep alive his own soul.  30 A seed shall serve him; it shall be accounted to the Lord for a generation.  31 They shall come , and shall declare his righteousness unto a people that shall be born , that he hath done this.

Luke 16:1-31
1 And he said also unto his disciples, There was a certain rich man, which had a steward; and the same was accused unto him that he had wasted his goods . 2 And he called him, and said unto him, How is it that I hear this of thee? give an account of thy stewardship; for thou mayest be no longer steward . 3 Then the steward said within himself, What shall I do ? for my lord taketh away from me the stewardship: I cannot dig ; to beg I am ashamed . 4 I am resolved what to do , that, when I am put out of the stewardship, they may receive me into their houses.  5 So he called every one of his lord's debtors unto him, and said unto the first, How much owest thou unto my lord?  6 And he said , An hundred measures of oil. And he said unto him, Take thy bill, and sit down quickly, and write fifty.  7 Then said he to another, And how much owest thou? And he said , An hundred measures of wheat. And he said unto him, Take thy bill, and write fourscore.  8 And the lord commended the unjust steward, because he had done wisely: for the children of this world are in their generation wiser than the children of light.  9 And I say unto you, Make to yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness; that, when ye fail , they may receive you into everlasting habitations.  10 He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much.  11 If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches? 12 And if ye have not been faithful in that which is another man's, who shall give you that which is your own?  13 No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.  14 And the Pharisees also, who were covetous, heard all these things: and they derided him.  15 And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God.  16 The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached , and every man presseth into it.  17 And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass , than one tittle of the law to fail . 18 Whosoever putteth away his wife, and marrieth another, committeth adultery : and whosoever marrieth her that is put away from her husband committeth adultery . 19 There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day:  20 And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores , 21 And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.  22 And it came to pass , that the beggar died , and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died , and was buried ; 23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.  24 And he cried and said , Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.  25 But Abraham said , Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted , and thou art tormented . 26 And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed : so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot ; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.  27 Then he said , I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house:  28 For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.  29 Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.  30 And he said , Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent . 31 And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded , though one rose from the dead.
Genesis 27:46
46 And Rebekah said to Isaac, I am weary of my life because of the daughters of Heth: if Jacob take a wife of the daughters of Heth, such as these which are of the daughters of the land, what good shall my life do me?
Genesis 28:1-22
1 And Isaac called Jacob, and blessed him, and charged him, and said unto him, Thou shalt not take a wife of the daughters of Canaan.  2 Arise , go to Padanaram, to the house of Bethuel thy mother's father; and take thee a wife from thence of the daughters of Laban thy mother's brother.  3 And God Almighty bless thee, and make thee fruitful , and multiply thee, that thou mayest be a multitude of people;  4 And give thee the blessing of Abraham, to thee, and to thy seed with thee; that thou mayest inherit the land wherein thou art a stranger, which God gave unto Abraham.  5 And Isaac sent away Jacob: and he went to Padanaram unto Laban, son of Bethuel the Syrian, the brother of Rebekah, Jacob's and Esau's mother.  6 When Esau saw that Isaac had blessed Jacob, and sent him away to Padanaram, to take him a wife from thence; and that as he blessed him he gave him a charge , saying , Thou shalt not take a wife of the daughters of Canaan;  7 And that Jacob obeyed his father and his mother, and was gone to Padanaram;  8 And Esau seeing that the daughters of Canaan pleased not Isaac his father;  9 Then went Esau unto Ishmael, and took unto the wives which he had Mahalath the daughter of Ishmael Abraham's son, the sister of Nebajoth, to be his wife.  10 And Jacob went out from Beersheba, and went toward Haran.  11 And he lighted upon a certain place, and tarried there all night , because the sun was set ; and he took of the stones of that place, and put them for his pillows, and lay down in that place to sleep . 12 And he dreamed , and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it. 13 And, behold, the LORD stood above it, and said , I am the LORD God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac: the land whereon thou liest , to thee will I give it , and to thy seed;  14 And thy seed shall be as the dust of the earth, and thou shalt spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south: and in thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed . 15 And, behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee in all places whither thou goest , and will bring thee again into this land; for I will not leave thee, until I have done that which I have spoken to thee of. 16 And Jacob awaked out of his sleep, and he said , Surely the LORD is in this place; and I knew it not. 17 And he was afraid , and said , How dreadful is this place! this is none other but the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.  18 And Jacob rose up early in the morning, and took the stone that he had put for his pillows, and set it up for a pillar, and poured oil upon the top of it.  19 And he called the name of that place Bethel: but the name of that city was called Luz at the first.  20 And Jacob vowed a vow, saying , If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go , and will give me bread to eat , and raiment to put on , 21 So that I come again to my father's house in peace; then shall the LORD be my God:  22 And this stone, which I have set for a pillar, shall be God's house: and of all that thou shalt give me I will surely give the tenth unto thee.
Psalm 21:1-13
1 The king shall joy in thy strength, O LORD; and in thy salvation how greatly shall he rejoice ! 2 Thou hast given him his heart's desire, and hast not withholden the request of his lips. Selah.  3 For thou preventest him with the blessings of goodness: thou settest a crown of pure gold on his head.  4 He asked life of thee, and thou gavest it him, even length of days for ever and ever.  5 His glory is great in thy salvation: honour and majesty hast thou laid upon him. 6 For thou hast made him most blessed for ever: thou hast made him exceeding glad with thy countenance.  7 For the king trusteth in the LORD, and through the mercy of the most High he shall not be moved . 8 Thine hand shall find out all thine enemies : thy right hand shall find out those that hate thee. 9 Thou shalt make them as a fiery oven in the time of thine anger: the LORD shall swallow them up in his wrath, and the fire shall devour them. 10 Their fruit shalt thou destroy from the earth, and their seed from among the children of men.  11 For they intended evil against thee: they imagined a mischievous device, which they are not able to perform. 12 Therefore shalt thou make them turn their back, when thou shalt make ready thine arrows upon thy strings against the face of them. 13 Be thou exalted , LORD, in thine own strength: so will we sing and praise thy power.

January 20, 2014 - King James Version
Luke 15:1-32
1 Then drew near unto him all the publicans and sinners for to hear him.  2 And the Pharisees and scribes murmured , saying , This man receiveth sinners, and eateth with them.  3 And he spake this parable unto them, saying , 4 What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost , until he find it?  5 And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing . 6 And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and neighbours, saying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost . 7 I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth , more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.  8 Either what woman having ten pieces of silver, if she lose one piece, doth not light a candle, and sweep the house, and seek diligently till she find it? 9 And when she hath found it, she calleth her friends and her neighbours together , saying , Rejoice with me; for I have found the piece which I had lost . 10 Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth . 11 And he said , A certain man had two sons:  12 And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living.  13 And not many days after the younger son gathered all together , and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living . 14 And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want . 15 And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine.  16 And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat : and no man gave unto him.  17 And when he came to himself, he said , How many hired servants of my father's have bread enough and to spare , and I perish with hunger!  18 I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee,  19 And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants.  20 And he arose , and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off , his father saw him, and had compassion , and ran , and fell on his neck, and kissed him.  21 And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son.  22 But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet:  23 And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat , and be merry : 24 For this my son was dead, and is alive again ; he was lost , and is found . And they began to be merry . 25 Now his elder son was in the field: and as he came and drew nigh to the house, he heard musick and dancing.  26 And he called one of the servants, and asked what these things meant . 27 And he said unto him , Thy brother is come ; and thy father hath killed the fatted calf, because he hath received him safe and sound . 28 And he was angry , and would not go in : therefore came his father out , and intreated him.  29 And he answering said to his father, Lo , these many years do I serve thee, neither transgressed I at any time thy commandment: and yet thou never gavest me a kid, that I might make merry with my friends:  30 But as soon as this thy son was come , which hath devoured thy living with harlots, thou hast killed for him the fatted calf.  31 And he said unto him, Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine.  32 It was meet that we should make merry , and be glad : for this thy brother was dead, and is alive again ; and was lost , and is found .
Genesis 27:1-45
1 And it came to pass , that when Isaac was old , and his eyes were dim , so that he could not see , he called Esau his eldest son, and said unto him, My son: and he said unto him, Behold, here am I. 2 And he said , Behold now, I am old , I know not the day of my death:  3 Now therefore take , I pray thee, thy weapons, thy quiver and thy bow, and go out to the field, and take me some venison ; 4 And make me savoury meat, such as I love , and bring it to me, that I may eat ; that my soul may bless thee before I die . 5 And Rebekah heard when Isaac spake to Esau his son. And Esau went to the field to hunt for venison, and to bring it. 6 And Rebekah spake unto Jacob her son, saying , Behold, I heard thy father speak unto Esau thy brother, saying , 7 Bring me venison, and make me savoury meat, that I may eat , and bless thee before the LORD before my death.  8 Now therefore, my son, obey my voice according to that which I command thee. 9 Go now to the flock, and fetch me from thence two good kids of the goats; and I will make them savoury meat for thy father, such as he loveth : 10 And thou shalt bring it to thy father, that he may eat , and that he may bless thee before his death.  11 And Jacob said to Rebekah his mother, Behold, Esau my brother is a hairy man, and I am a smooth man:  12 My father peradventure will feel me, and I shall seem to him as a deceiver ; and I shall bring a curse upon me, and not a blessing.  13 And his mother said unto him, Upon me be thy curse, my son: only obey my voice, and go fetch me them. 14 And he went , and fetched , and brought them to his mother: and his mother made savoury meat, such as his father loved . 15 And Rebekah took goodly raiment of her eldest son Esau, which were with her in the house, and put them upon Jacob her younger son:  16 And she put the skins of the kids of the goats upon his hands, and upon the smooth of his neck:  17 And she gave the savoury meat and the bread, which she had prepared , into the hand of her son Jacob.  18 And he came unto his father, and said , My father: and he said , Here am I; who art thou, my son?  19 And Jacob said unto his father, I am Esau thy firstborn; I have done according as thou badest me: arise , I pray thee, sit and eat of my venison, that thy soul may bless me. 20 And Isaac said unto his son, How is it that thou hast found it so quickly , my son? And he said , Because the LORD thy God brought it to me.  21 And Isaac said unto Jacob, Come near , I pray thee, that I may feel thee, my son, whether thou be my very son Esau or not. 22 And Jacob went near unto Isaac his father; and he felt him, and said , The voice is Jacob's voice, but the hands are the hands of Esau.  23 And he discerned him not, because his hands were hairy, as his brother Esau's hands: so he blessed him. 24 And he said , Art thou my very son Esau? And he said , I am. 25 And he said , Bring it near to me, and I will eat of my son's venison, that my soul may bless thee. And he brought it near to him, and he did eat : and he brought him wine, and he drank . 26 And his father Isaac said unto him, Come near now, and kiss me, my son.  27 And he came near , and kissed him: and he smelled the smell of his raiment, and blessed him, and said , See , the smell of my son is as the smell of a field which the LORD hath blessed : 28 Therefore God give thee of the dew of heaven, and the fatness of the earth, and plenty of corn and wine:  29 Let people serve thee, and nations bow down to thee: be lord over thy brethren, and let thy mother's sons bow down to thee: cursed be every one that curseth thee, and blessed be he that blesseth thee. 30 And it came to pass, as soon as Isaac had made an end of blessing Jacob, and Jacob was yet scarce gone out from the presence of Isaac his father, that Esau his brother came in from his hunting.  31 And he also had made savoury meat, and brought it unto his father, and said unto his father, Let my father arise , and eat of his son's venison, that thy soul may bless me. 32 And Isaac his father said unto him, Who art thou? And he said , I am thy son, thy firstborn Esau.  33 And Isaac trembled very exceedingly , and said , Who? where is he that hath taken venison, and brought it me, and I have eaten of all before thou camest , and have blessed him? yea, and he shall be blessed . 34 And when Esau heard the words of his father, he cried with a great and exceeding bitter cry, and said unto his father, Bless me, even me also, O my father.  35 And he said , Thy brother came with subtilty, and hath taken away thy blessing.  36 And he said , Is not he rightly named Jacob? for he hath supplanted me these two times: he took away my birthright; and, behold, now he hath taken away my blessing. And he said , Hast thou not reserved a blessing for me? 37 And Isaac answered and said unto Esau, Behold, I have made him thy lord, and all his brethren have I given to him for servants; and with corn and wine have I sustained him: and what shall I do now unto thee, my son?  38 And Esau said unto his father, Hast thou but one blessing, my father? bless me, even me also, O my father. And Esau lifted up his voice, and wept . 39 And Isaac his father answered and said unto him, Behold, thy dwelling shall be the fatness of the earth, and of the dew of heaven from above;  40 And by thy sword shalt thou live , and shalt serve thy brother; and it shall come to pass when thou shalt have the dominion , that thou shalt break his yoke from off thy neck.  41 And Esau hated Jacob because of the blessing wherewith his father blessed him : and Esau said in his heart, The days of mourning for my father are at hand ; then will I slay my brother Jacob.  42 And these words of Esau her elder son were told to Rebekah: and she sent and called Jacob her younger son, and said unto him, Behold, thy brother Esau, as touching thee, doth comfort himself, purposing to kill thee. 43 Now therefore, my son, obey my voice; and arise , flee thou to Laban my brother to Haran;  44 And tarry with him a few days, until thy brother's fury turn away ; 45 Until thy brother's anger turn away from thee, and he forget that which thou hast done to him: then I will send , and fetch thee from thence: why should I be deprived also of you both in one day?
Psalm 20:1-9
1 The LORD hear thee in the day of trouble; the name of the God of Jacob defend thee; 2 Send thee help from the sanctuary, and strengthen thee out of Zion;  3 Remember all thy offerings, and accept thy burnt sacrifice; Selah.  4 Grant thee according to thine own heart, and fulfil all thy counsel.  5 We will rejoice in thy salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners : the LORD fulfil all thy petitions.  6 Now know I that the LORD saveth his anointed; he will hear him from his holy heaven with the saving strength of his right hand.  7 Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God.  8 They are brought down and fallen : but we are risen , and stand upright . 9 Save , LORD: let the king hear us when we call .

Luke 14:25-35
25 And there went great multitudes with him: and he turned , and said unto them,  26 If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.  27 And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.  28 For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it? 29 Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him,  30 Saying , This man began to build , and was not able to finish . 31 Or what king, going to make war against another king, sitteth not down first, and consulteth whether he be able with ten thousand to meet him that cometh against him with twenty thousand?  32 Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sendeth an ambassage, and desireth conditions of peace.  33 So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath , he cannot be my disciple.  34 Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his savour , wherewith shall it be seasoned ? 35 It is neither fit for the land, nor yet for the dunghill; but men cast it out. He that hath ears to hear , let him hear .
Genesis 26:1-35
1 And there was a famine in the land, beside the first famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went unto Abimelech king of the Philistines unto Gerar.  2 And the LORD appeared unto him, and said , Go not down into Egypt; dwell in the land which I shall tell thee of: 3 Sojourn in this land, and I will be with thee, and will bless thee; for unto thee, and unto thy seed, I will give all these countries, and I will perform the oath which I sware unto Abraham thy father;  4 And I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these countries; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed ; 5 Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.  6 And Isaac dwelt in Gerar:  7 And the men of the place asked him of his wife; and he said , She is my sister: for he feared to say , She is my wife; lest, said he, the men of the place should kill me for Rebekah; because she was fair to look upon.  8 And it came to pass, when he had been there a long time, that Abimelech king of the Philistines looked out at a window, and saw , and, behold, Isaac was sporting with Rebekah his wife.  9 And Abimelech called Isaac, and said , Behold, of a surety she is thy wife: and how saidst thou, She is my sister? And Isaac said unto him, Because I said , Lest I die for her. 10 And Abimelech said , What is this thou hast done unto us? one of the people might lightly have lien with thy wife, and thou shouldest have brought guiltiness upon us. 11 And Abimelech charged all his people, saying , He that toucheth this man or his wife shall surely be put to death . 12 Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year an hundredfold : and the LORD blessed him. 13 And the man waxed great , and went forward , and grew until he became very great : 14 For he had possession of flocks, and possession of herds, and great store of servants: and the Philistines envied him. 15 For all the wells which his father's servants had digged in the days of Abraham his father, the Philistines had stopped them, and filled them with earth.  16 And Abimelech said unto Isaac, Go from us; for thou art much mightier than we. 17 And Isaac departed thence, and pitched his tent in the valley of Gerar, and dwelt there.  18 And Isaac digged again the wells of water, which they had digged in the days of Abraham his father; for the Philistines had stopped them after the death of Abraham: and he called their names after the names by which his father had called them. 19 And Isaac's servants digged in the valley, and found there a well of springing water.  20 And the herdmen of Gerar did strive with Isaac's herdmen , saying , The water is ours: and he called the name of the well Esek; because they strove with him. 21 And they digged another well, and strove for that also: and he called the name of it Sitnah.  22 And he removed from thence, and digged another well; and for that they strove not: and he called the name of it Rehoboth; and he said , For now the LORD hath made room for us, and we shall be fruitful in the land.  23 And he went up from thence to Beersheba.  24 And the LORD appeared unto him the same night, and said , I am the God of Abraham thy father: fear not, for I am with thee, and will bless thee, and multiply thy seed for my servant Abraham's sake. 25 And he builded an altar there, and called upon the name of the LORD, and pitched his tent there: and there Isaac's servants digged a well.  26 Then Abimelech went to him from Gerar, and Ahuzzath one of his friends, and Phichol the chief captain of his army.  27 And Isaac said unto them, Wherefore come ye to me, seeing ye hate me, and have sent me away from you? 28 And they said , We saw certainly that the LORD was with thee: and we said , Let there be now an oath betwixt us, even betwixt us and thee, and let us make a covenant with thee; 29 That thou wilt do us no hurt, as we have not touched thee, and as we have done unto thee nothing but good, and have sent thee away in peace: thou art now the blessed of the LORD.  30 And he made them a feast, and they did eat and drink . 31 And they rose up betimes in the morning, and sware one to another: and Isaac sent them away , and they departed from him in peace.  32 And it came to pass the same day, that Isaac's servants came , and told him concerning the well which they had digged , and said unto him, We have found water.  33 And he called it Shebah: therefore the name of the city is Beersheba unto this day.  34 And Esau was forty years old when he took to wife Judith the daughter of Beeri the Hittite, and Bashemath the daughter of Elon the Hittite:  35 Which were a grief of mind unto Isaac and to Rebekah.
Psalm 19:1-14
1 The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork . 2 Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge.  3 There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard . 4 Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun,  5 Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoiceth as a strong man to run a race.  6 His going forth is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof. 7 The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure , making wise the simple.  8 The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.  9 The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.  10 More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb . 11 Moreover by them is thy servant warned : and in keeping of them there is great reward.  12 Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults. 13 Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright , and I shall be innocent from the great transgression.  14 Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer .

Luke 14:1-24
1 And it came to pass , as he went into the house of one of the chief Pharisees to eat bread on the sabbath day, that they watched him.  2 And, behold , there was a certain man before him which had the dropsy.  3 And Jesus answering spake unto the lawyers and Pharisees, saying , Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath day?  4 And they held their peace . And he took him, and healed him, and let him go ; 5 And answered them , saying , Which of you shall have an ass or an ox fallen into a pit, and will not straightway pull him out on the sabbath day?  6 And they could not answer him again to these things.  7 And he put forth a parable to those which were bidden , when he marked how they chose out the chief rooms; saying unto them,  8 When thou art bidden of any man to a wedding, sit not down in the highest room; lest a more honourable man than thou be bidden of him;  9 And he that bade thee and him come and say to thee, Give this man place; and thou begin with shame to take the lowest room.  10 But when thou art bidden , go and sit down in the lowest room; that when he that bade thee cometh , he may say unto thee, Friend, go up higher: then shalt thou have worship in the presence of them that sit at meat with thee.  11 For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased ; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted . 12 Then said he also to him that bade him, When thou makest a dinner or a supper, call not thy friends, nor thy brethren, neither thy kinsmen, nor thy rich neighbours; lest they also bid thee again , and a recompence be made thee.  13 But when thou makest a feast, call the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind:  14 And thou shalt be blessed; for they cannot recompense thee: for thou shalt be recompensed at the resurrection of the just.  15 And when one of them that sat at meat with him heard these things, he said unto him, Blessed is he that shall eat bread in the kingdom of God.  16 Then said he unto him, A certain man made a great supper, and bade many:  17 And sent his servant at supper time to say to them that were bidden , Come ; for all things are now ready.  18 And they all with one consent began to make excuse . The first said unto him, I have bought a piece of ground, and I must needs go and see it: I pray thee have me excused . 19 And another said , I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to prove them: I pray thee have me excused . 20 And another said , I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come . 21 So that servant came , and shewed his lord these things. Then the master of the house being angry said to his servant, Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in hither the poor, and the maimed, and the halt, and the blind.  22 And the servant said , Lord, it is done as thou hast commanded , and yet there is room.  23 And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in , that my house may be filled . 24 For I say unto you, That none of those men which were bidden shall taste of my supper.
Genesis 25:1-34
1 Then again Abraham took a wife, and her name was Keturah.  2 And she bare him Zimran, and Jokshan, and Medan, and Midian, and Ishbak, and Shuah.  3 And Jokshan begat Sheba, and Dedan. And the sons of Dedan were Asshurim, and Letushim, and Leummim.  4 And the sons of Midian; Ephah, and Epher, and Hanoch, and Abida, and Eldaah. All these were the children of Keturah.  5 And Abraham gave all that he had unto Isaac.  6 But unto the sons of the concubines, which Abraham had, Abraham gave gifts, and sent them away from Isaac his son, while he yet lived, eastward, unto the east country.  7 And these are the days of the years of Abraham's life which he lived , an hundred threescore and fifteen years.  8 Then Abraham gave up the ghost , and died in a good old age, an old man, and full of years; and was gathered to his people.  9 And his sons Isaac and Ishmael buried him in the cave of Machpelah, in the field of Ephron the son of Zohar the Hittite, which is before Mamre;  10 The field which Abraham purchased of the sons of Heth: there was Abraham buried , and Sarah his wife.  11 And it came to pass after the death of Abraham, that God blessed his son Isaac; and Isaac dwelt by the well Lahairoi.  12 Now these are the generations of Ishmael, Abraham's son, whom Hagar the Egyptian, Sarah's handmaid, bare unto Abraham:  13 And these are the names of the sons of Ishmael, by their names, according to their generations: the firstborn of Ishmael, Nebajoth; and Kedar, and Adbeel, and Mibsam,  14 And Mishma, and Dumah, and Massa,  15 Hadar, and Tema, Jetur, Naphish, and Kedemah:  16 These are the sons of Ishmael, and these are their names, by their towns, and by their castles; twelve princes according to their nations.  17 And these are the years of the life of Ishmael, an hundred and thirty and seven years: and he gave up the ghost and died ; and was gathered unto his people.  18 And they dwelt from Havilah unto Shur, that is before Egypt, as thou goest toward Assyria: and he died in the presence of all his brethren.  19 And these are the generations of Isaac, Abraham's son: Abraham begat Isaac:  20 And Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebekah to wife, the daughter of Bethuel the Syrian of Padanaram, the sister to Laban the Syrian.  21 And Isaac intreated the LORD for his wife, because she was barren: and the LORD was intreated of him, and Rebekah his wife conceived . 22 And the children struggled together within her; and she said , If it be so, why am I thus? And she went to enquire of the LORD.  23 And the LORD said unto her, Two nations are in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels; and the one people shall be stronger than the other people; and the elder shall serve the younger.  24 And when her days to be delivered were fulfilled , behold, there were twins in her womb.  25 And the first came out red, all over like an hairy garment; and they called his name Esau.  26 And after that came his brother out , and his hand took hold on Esau's heel; and his name was called Jacob: and Isaac was threescore years old when she bare them. 27 And the boys grew : and Esau was a cunning hunter, a man of the field; and Jacob was a plain man, dwelling in tents.  28 And Isaac loved Esau, because he did eat of his venison: but Rebekah loved Jacob.  29 And Jacob sod pottage: and Esau came from the field, and he was faint:  30 And Esau said to Jacob, Feed me, I pray thee, with that same red pottage; for I am faint: therefore was his name called Edom.  31 And Jacob said , Sell me this day thy birthright.  32 And Esau said , Behold, I am at the point to die : and what profit shall this birthright do to me? 33 And Jacob said , Swear to me this day; and he sware unto him: and he sold his birthright unto Jacob.  34 Then Jacob gave Esau bread and pottage of lentiles; and he did eat and drink , and rose up , and went his way : thus Esau despised his birthright.
Psalm 18:1-50
1 I will love thee, O LORD, my strength.  2 The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer ; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust ; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.  3 I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised : so shall I be saved from mine enemies . 4 The sorrows of death compassed me, and the floods of ungodly men made me afraid . 5 The sorrows of hell compassed me about : the snares of death prevented me. 6 In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears.  7 Then the earth shook and trembled ; the foundations also of the hills moved and were shaken , because he was wroth . 8 There went up a smoke out of his nostrils, and fire out of his mouth devoured : coals were kindled by it. 9 He bowed the heavens also, and came down : and darkness was under his feet.  10 And he rode upon a cherub, and did fly : yea, he did fly upon the wings of the wind.  11 He made darkness his secret place; his pavilion round about him were dark waters and thick clouds of the skies.  12 At the brightness that was before him his thick clouds passed , hail stones and coals of fire.  13 The LORD also thundered in the heavens, and the Highest gave his voice; hail stones and coals of fire.  14 Yea, he sent out his arrows, and scattered them; and he shot out lightnings, and discomfited them. 15 Then the channels of waters were seen , and the foundations of the world were discovered at thy rebuke, O LORD, at the blast of the breath of thy nostrils.  16 He sent from above, he took me, he drew me out of many waters.  17 He delivered me from my strong enemy , and from them which hated me: for they were too strong for me. 18 They prevented me in the day of my calamity: but the LORD was my stay.  19 He brought me forth also into a large place; he delivered me, because he delighted in me. 20 The LORD rewarded me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands hath he recompensed me. 21 For I have kept the ways of the LORD, and have not wickedly departed from my God.  22 For all his judgments were before me, and I did not put away his statutes from me. 23 I was also upright before him, and I kept myself from mine iniquity.  24 Therefore hath the LORD recompensed me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in his eyesight.  25 With the merciful thou wilt shew thyself merciful ; with an upright man thou wilt shew thyself upright ; 26 With the pure thou wilt shew thyself pure ; and with the froward thou wilt shew thyself froward . 27 For thou wilt save the afflicted people; but wilt bring down high looks.  28 For thou wilt light my candle: the LORD my God will enlighten my darkness.  29 For by thee I have run through a troop; and by my God have I leaped over a wall.  30 As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried : he is a buckler to all those that trust in him. 31 For who is God save the LORD? or who is a rock save our God?  32 It is God that girdeth me with strength, and maketh my way perfect.  33 He maketh my feet like hinds' feet, and setteth me upon my high places.  34 He teacheth my hands to war, so that a bow of steel is broken by mine arms.  35 Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation: and thy right hand hath holden me up , and thy gentleness hath made me great . 36 Thou hast enlarged my steps under me, that my feet did not slip . 37 I have pursued mine enemies , and overtaken them: neither did I turn again till they were consumed . 38 I have wounded them that they were not able to rise : they are fallen under my feet.  39 For thou hast girded me with strength unto the battle: thou hast subdued under me those that rose up against me. 40 Thou hast also given me the necks of mine enemies ; that I might destroy them that hate me. 41 They cried , but there was none to save them: even unto the LORD, but he answered them not. 42 Then did I beat them small as the dust before the wind: I did cast them out as the dirt in the streets.  43 Thou hast delivered me from the strivings of the people; and thou hast made me the head of the heathen: a people whom I have not known shall serve me. 44 As soon as they hear of me, they shall obey me: the strangers shall submit themselves unto me. 45 The strangers shall fade away , and be afraid out of their close places.  46 The LORD liveth; and blessed be my rock; and let the God of my salvation be exalted . 47 It is God that avengeth me, and subdueth the people under me. 48 He delivereth me from mine enemies : yea, thou liftest me up above those that rise up against me: thou hast delivered me from the violent man.  49 Therefore will I give thanks unto thee, O LORD, among the heathen, and sing praises unto thy name.  50 Great deliverance giveth he to his king; and sheweth mercy to his anointed, to David, and to his seed for evermore.

January 17, 2014 - King James Version
Luke 13:18-35
18 Then said he , Unto what is the kingdom of God like? and whereunto shall I resemble it?  19 It is like a grain of mustard seed, which a man took , and cast into his garden; and it grew , and waxed a great tree; and the fowls of the air lodged in the branches of it.  20 And again he said , Whereunto shall I liken the kingdom of God?  21 It is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened . 22 And he went through the cities and villages, teaching , and journeying toward Jerusalem.  23 Then said one unto him, Lord, are there few that be saved ? And he said unto them,  24 Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in , and shall not be able . 25 When once the master of the house is risen up , and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying , Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are : 26 Then shall ye begin to say , We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets.  27 But he shall say , I tell you, I know you not whence ye are ; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity.  28 There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out.  29 And they shall come from the east, and from the west, and from the north, and from the south, and shall sit down in the kingdom of God.  30 And, behold , there are last which shall be first, and there are first which shall be last.  31 The same day there came certain of the Pharisees, saying unto him, Get thee out , and depart hence: for Herod will kill thee.  32 And he said unto them, Go ye , and tell that fox, Behold , I cast out devils, and I do cures to day and to morrow, and the third day I shall be perfected . 33 Nevertheless I must walk to day, and to morrow, and the day following : for it cannot be that a prophet perish out of Jerusalem.  34 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, which killest the prophets, and stonest them that are sent unto thee; how often would I have gathered thy children together , as a hen doth gather her brood under her wings, and ye would not!  35 Behold , your house is left unto you desolate: and verily I say unto you , Ye shall not see me, until the time come when ye shall say , Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.
Genesis 24:1-67
1 And Abraham was old , and well stricken in age: and the LORD had blessed Abraham in all things. 2 And Abraham said unto his eldest servant of his house, that ruled over all that he had, Put , I pray thee, thy hand under my thigh:  3 And I will make thee swear by the LORD, the God of heaven, and the God of the earth, that thou shalt not take a wife unto my son of the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I dwell : 4 But thou shalt go unto my country, and to my kindred, and take a wife unto my son Isaac.  5 And the servant said unto him, Peradventure the woman will not be willing to follow me unto this land: must I needs bring thy son again unto the land from whence thou camest ? 6 And Abraham said unto him, Beware thou that thou bring not my son thither again . 7 The LORD God of heaven, which took me from my father's house, and from the land of my kindred, and which spake unto me, and that sware unto me, saying , Unto thy seed will I give this land; he shall send his angel before thee, and thou shalt take a wife unto my son from thence. 8 And if the woman will not be willing to follow thee, then thou shalt be clear from this my oath: only bring not my son thither again . 9 And the servant put his hand under the thigh of Abraham his master, and sware to him concerning that matter.  10 And the servant took ten camels of the camels of his master, and departed ; for all the goods of his master were in his hand: and he arose , and went to Mesopotamia, unto the city of Nahor.  11 And he made his camels to kneel down without the city by a well of water at the time of the evening, even the time that women go out to draw water. 12 And he said , O LORD God of my master Abraham, I pray thee, send me good speed this day, and shew kindness unto my master Abraham.  13 Behold, I stand here by the well of water; and the daughters of the men of the city come out to draw water:  14 And let it come to pass, that the damsel to whom I shall say , Let down thy pitcher, I pray thee, that I may drink ; and she shall say , Drink , and I will give thy camels drink also: let the same be she that thou hast appointed for thy servant Isaac; and thereby shall I know that thou hast shewed kindness unto my master.  15 And it came to pass, before he had done speaking , that, behold, Rebekah came out , who was born to Bethuel, son of Milcah, the wife of Nahor, Abraham's brother, with her pitcher upon her shoulder.  16 And the damsel was very fair to look upon, a virgin, neither had any man known her: and she went down to the well, and filled her pitcher, and came up . 17 And the servant ran to meet her , and said , Let me, I pray thee, drink a little water of thy pitcher.  18 And she said , Drink , my lord: and she hasted , and let down her pitcher upon her hand, and gave him drink . 19 And when she had done giving him drink , she said , I will draw water for thy camels also, until they have done drinking . 20 And she hasted , and emptied her pitcher into the trough, and ran again unto the well to draw water, and drew for all his camels.  21 And the man wondering at her held his peace , to wit whether the LORD had made his journey prosperous or not. 22 And it came to pass, as the camels had done drinking , that the man took a golden earring of half a shekel weight, and two bracelets for her hands of ten shekels weight of gold;  23 And said , Whose daughter art thou? tell me, I pray thee: is there room in thy father's house for us to lodge in ? 24 And she said unto him, I am the daughter of Bethuel the son of Milcah, which she bare unto Nahor.  25 She said moreover unto him, We have both straw and provender enough, and room to lodge in . 26 And the man bowed down his head , and worshipped the LORD.  27 And he said , Blessed be the LORD God of my master Abraham, who hath not left destitute my master of his mercy and his truth: I being in the way, the LORD led me to the house of my master's brethren.  28 And the damsel ran , and told them of her mother's house these things.  29 And Rebekah had a brother, and his name was Laban: and Laban ran out unto the man, unto the well.  30 And it came to pass, when he saw the earring and bracelets upon his sister's hands, and when he heard the words of Rebekah his sister, saying , Thus spake the man unto me; that he came unto the man; and, behold, he stood by the camels at the well.  31 And he said , Come in , thou blessed of the LORD; wherefore standest thou without? for I have prepared the house, and room for the camels.  32 And the man came into the house: and he ungirded his camels, and gave straw and provender for the camels, and water to wash his feet, and the men's feet that were with him. 33 And there was set meat before him to eat : but he said , I will not eat , until I have told mine errand. And he said , Speak on . 34 And he said , I am Abraham's servant.  35 And the LORD hath blessed my master greatly; and he is become great : and he hath given him flocks, and herds, and silver, and gold, and menservants, and maidservants, and camels, and asses.  36 And Sarah my master's wife bare a son to my master when she was old: and unto him hath he given all that he hath. 37 And my master made me swear , saying , Thou shalt not take a wife to my son of the daughters of the Canaanites, in whose land I dwell : 38 But thou shalt go unto my father's house, and to my kindred, and take a wife unto my son.  39 And I said unto my master, Peradventure the woman will not follow me. 40 And he said unto me, The LORD, before whom I walk , will send his angel with thee, and prosper thy way; and thou shalt take a wife for my son of my kindred, and of my father's house:  41 Then shalt thou be clear from this my oath, when thou comest to my kindred; and if they give not thee one, thou shalt be clear from my oath.  42 And I came this day unto the well, and said , O LORD God of my master Abraham, if now thou do prosper my way which I go : 43 Behold, I stand by the well of water; and it shall come to pass, that when the virgin cometh forth to draw water, and I say to her, Give me , I pray thee, a little water of thy pitcher to drink ; 44 And she say to me, Both drink thou, and I will also draw for thy camels: let the same be the woman whom the LORD hath appointed out for my master's son.  45 And before I had done speaking in mine heart, behold, Rebekah came forth with her pitcher on her shoulder; and she went down unto the well, and drew water: and I said unto her, Let me drink , I pray thee. 46 And she made haste , and let down her pitcher from her shoulder, and said , Drink , and I will give thy camels drink also: so I drank , and she made the camels drink also. 47 And I asked her, and said , Whose daughter art thou? And she said , The daughter of Bethuel, Nahor's son, whom Milcah bare unto him: and I put the earring upon her face, and the bracelets upon her hands.  48 And I bowed down my head , and worshipped the LORD, and blessed the LORD God of my master Abraham, which had led me in the right way to take my master's brother's daughter unto his son.  49 And now if ye will deal kindly and truly with my master, tell me: and if not, tell me; that I may turn to the right hand, or to the left.  50 Then Laban and Bethuel answered and said , The thing proceedeth from the LORD: we cannot speak unto thee bad or good.  51 Behold, Rebekah is before thee, take her, and go , and let her be thy master's son's wife, as the LORD hath spoken . 52 And it came to pass, that, when Abraham's servant heard their words, he worshipped the LORD, bowing himself to the earth.  53 And the servant brought forth jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment, and gave them to Rebekah: he gave also to her brother and to her mother precious things.  54 And they did eat and drink , he and the men that were with him, and tarried all night ; and they rose up in the morning, and he said , Send me away unto my master.  55 And her brother and her mother said , Let the damsel abide with us a few days, at the least ten; after that she shall go . 56 And he said unto them, Hinder me not, seeing the LORD hath prospered my way; send me away that I may go to my master.  57 And they said , We will call the damsel, and enquire at her mouth.  58 And they called Rebekah, and said unto her, Wilt thou go with this man? And she said , I will go . 59 And they sent away Rebekah their sister, and her nurse , and Abraham's servant, and his men.  60 And they blessed Rebekah, and said unto her, Thou art our sister, be thou the mother of thousands of millions, and let thy seed possess the gate of those which hate them. 61 And Rebekah arose , and her damsels, and they rode upon the camels, and followed the man: and the servant took Rebekah, and went his way . 62 And Isaac came from the way of the well Lahairoi; for he dwelt in the south country.  63 And Isaac went out to meditate in the field at the eventide: and he lifted up his eyes, and saw , and, behold, the camels were coming . 64 And Rebekah lifted up her eyes, and when she saw Isaac, she lighted off the camel.  65 For she had said unto the servant, What man is this that walketh in the field to meet us ? And the servant had said , It is my master: therefore she took a vail, and covered herself . 66 And the servant told Isaac all things that he had done . 67 And Isaac brought her into his mother Sarah's tent, and took Rebekah, and she became his wife; and he loved her: and Isaac was comforted after his mother's death.
Psalm 17:1-15
1 Hear the right, O LORD, attend unto my cry, give ear unto my prayer, that goeth not out of feigned lips.  2 Let my sentence come forth from thy presence; let thine eyes behold the things that are equal.  3 Thou hast proved mine heart; thou hast visited me in the night; thou hast tried me, and shalt find nothing; I am purposed that my mouth shall not transgress . 4 Concerning the works of men, by the word of thy lips I have kept me from the paths of the destroyer.  5 Hold up my goings in thy paths, that my footsteps slip not. 6 I have called upon thee, for thou wilt hear me, O God: incline thine ear unto me, and hear my speech.  7 Shew thy marvellous lovingkindness, O thou that savest by thy right hand them which put their trust in thee from those that rise up against them. 8 Keep me as the apple of the eye , hide me under the shadow of thy wings,  9 From the wicked that oppress me, from my deadly enemies , who compass me about . 10 They are inclosed in their own fat: with their mouth they speak proudly.  11 They have now compassed us in our steps: they have set their eyes bowing down to the earth;  12 Like as a lion that is greedy of his prey , and as it were a young lion lurking in secret places.  13 Arise , O LORD, disappoint him, cast him down : deliver my soul from the wicked, which is thy sword:  14 From men which are thy hand, O LORD, from men of the world, which have their portion in this life, and whose belly thou fillest with thy hid treasure: they are full of children, and leave the rest of their substance to their babes.  15 As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied , when I awake , with thy likeness.

Luke 13:1-17
1 There were present at that season some that told him of the Galilaeans, whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices.  2 And Jesus answering said unto them, Suppose ye that these Galilaeans were sinners above all the Galilaeans, because they suffered such things?  3 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent , ye shall all likewise perish . 4 Or those eighteen , upon whom the tower in Siloam fell , and slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem?  5 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent , ye shall all likewise perish . 6 He spake also this parable; A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came and sought fruit thereon , and found none.  7 Then said he unto the dresser of his vineyard, Behold , these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down ; why cumbereth it the ground?  8 And he answering said unto him, Lord, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig about it, and dung it: 9 And if it bear fruit, well: and if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down . 10 And he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath.  11 And, behold , there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together , and could in no wise lift up herself. 12 And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity.  13 And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight , and glorified God.  14 And the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation , because that Jesus had healed on the sabbath day, and said unto the people, There are six days in which men ought to work : in them therefore come and be healed , and not on the sabbath day.  15 The Lord then answered him, and said , Thou hypocrite, doth not each one of you on the sabbath loose his ox or his ass from the stall, and lead him away to watering ? 16 And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound , lo , these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day?  17 And when he had said these things, all his adversaries were ashamed : and all the people rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by him.
Genesis 23:1-20
1 And Sarah was an hundred and seven and twenty years old: these were the years of the life of Sarah.  2 And Sarah died in Kirjatharba; the same is Hebron in the land of Canaan: and Abraham came to mourn for Sarah, and to weep for her. 3 And Abraham stood up from before his dead , and spake unto the sons of Heth, saying , 4 I am a stranger and a sojourner with you: give me a possession of a buryingplace with you, that I may bury my dead out of my sight.  5 And the children of Heth answered Abraham, saying unto him, 6 Hear us , my lord: thou art a mighty prince among us: in the choice of our sepulchres bury thy dead ; none of us shall withhold from thee his sepulchre, but that thou mayest bury thy dead . 7 And Abraham stood up , and bowed himself to the people of the land, even to the children of Heth.  8 And he communed with them, saying , If it be your mind that I should bury my dead out of my sight; hear me, and intreat for me to Ephron the son of Zohar,  9 That he may give me the cave of Machpelah, which he hath, which is in the end of his field; for as much money as it is worth he shall give it me for a possession of a buryingplace amongst you.  10 And Ephron dwelt among the children of Heth: and Ephron the Hittite answered Abraham in the audience of the children of Heth, even of all that went in at the gate of his city, saying , 11 Nay, my lord, hear me : the field give I thee, and the cave that is therein, I give it thee; in the presence of the sons of my people give I it thee: bury thy dead . 12 And Abraham bowed down himself before the people of the land.  13 And he spake unto Ephron in the audience of the people of the land, saying , But if thou wilt give it, I pray thee, hear me: I will give thee money for the field; take it of me, and I will bury my dead there. 14 And Ephron answered Abraham, saying unto him, 15 My lord, hearken unto me: the land is worth four hundred shekels of silver; what is that betwixt me and thee? bury therefore thy dead . 16 And Abraham hearkened unto Ephron; and Abraham weighed to Ephron the silver, which he had named in the audience of the sons of Heth, four hundred shekels of silver, current money with the merchant . 17 And the field of Ephron, which was in Machpelah, which was before Mamre, the field, and the cave which was therein, and all the trees that were in the field, that were in all the borders round about, were made sure  18 Unto Abraham for a possession in the presence of the children of Heth, before all that went in at the gate of his city.  19 And after this, Abraham buried Sarah his wife in the cave of the field of Machpelah before Mamre: the same is Hebron in the land of Canaan.  20 And the field, and the cave that is therein, were made sure unto Abraham for a possession of a buryingplace by the sons of Heth.
Psalm 16:1-11
1 Preserve me, O God: for in thee do I put my trust . 2 O my soul, thou hast said unto the LORD, Thou art my Lord: my goodness extendeth not to thee; 3 But to the saints that are in the earth, and to the excellent, in whom is all my delight.  4 Their sorrows shall be multiplied that hasten after another god: their drink offerings of blood will I not offer , nor take up their names into my lips.  5 The LORD is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: thou maintainest my lot.  6 The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage.  7 I will bless the LORD, who hath given me counsel : my reins also instruct me in the night seasons.  8 I have set the LORD always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved . 9 Therefore my heart is glad , and my glory rejoiceth : my flesh also shall rest in hope.  10 For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.  11 Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

Luke 12:32-59
32 Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.  33 Sell that ye have , and give alms; provide yourselves bags which wax not old , a treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief approacheth , neither moth corrupteth . 34 For where your treasure is , there will your heart be also.  35 Let your loins be girded about , and your lights burning ; 36 And ye yourselves like unto men that wait for their lord, when he will return from the wedding; that when he cometh and knocketh , they may open unto him immediately.  37 Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching : verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself , and make them to sit down to meat , and will come forth and serve them.  38 And if he shall come in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are those servants.  39 And this know , that if the goodman of the house had known what hour the thief would come , he would have watched , and not have suffered his house to be broken through . 40 Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not.  41 Then Peter said unto him, Lord, speakest thou this parable unto us, or even to all?  42 And the Lord said , Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his lord shall make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of meat in due season?  43 Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing . 44 Of a truth I say unto you, that he will make him ruler over all that he hath . 45 But and if that servant say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming ; and shall begin to beat the menservants and maidens, and to eat and drink , and to be drunken ; 46 The lord of that servant will come in a day when he looketh not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware , and will cut him in sunder , and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers.  47 And that servant, which knew his lord's will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes. 48 But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given , of him shall be much required : and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.  49 I am come to send fire on the earth; and what will I , if it be already kindled ? 50 But I have a baptism to be baptized with ; and how am I straitened till it be accomplished ! 51 Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division:  52 For from henceforth there shall be five in one house divided , three against two, and two against three.  53 The father shall be divided against the son, and the son against the father; the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother; the mother in law against her daughter in law, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.  54 And he said also to the people, When ye see a cloud rise out of the west, straightway ye say , There cometh a shower; and so it is . 55 And when ye see the south wind blow , ye say , There will be heat; and it cometh to pass . 56 Ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky and of the earth; but how is it that ye do not discern this time?  57 Yea, and why even of yourselves judge ye not what is right?  58 When thou goest with thine adversary to the magistrate, as thou art in the way, give diligence that thou mayest be delivered from him; lest he hale thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and the officer cast thee into prison.  59 I tell thee, thou shalt not depart thence , till thou hast paid the very last mite.
Genesis 22:1-24
1 And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said , Behold, here I am.  2 And he said , Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest , and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of. 3 And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and clave the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up , and went unto the place of which God had told him. 4 Then on the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes, and saw the place afar off.  5 And Abraham said unto his young men, Abide ye here with the ass; and I and the lad will go yonder and worship , and come again to you. 6 And Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering, and laid it upon Isaac his son; and he took the fire in his hand, and a knife; and they went both of them together.  7 And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said , My father: and he said , Here am I, my son. And he said , Behold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?  8 And Abraham said , My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.  9 And they came to the place which God had told him of; and Abraham built an altar there, and laid the wood in order , and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar upon the wood.  10 And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son.  11 And the angel of the LORD called unto him out of heaven, and said , Abraham, Abraham: and he said , Here am I. 12 And he said , Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me. 13 And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked , and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son.  14 And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovahjireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen . 15 And the angel of the LORD called unto Abraham out of heaven the second time,  16 And said , By myself have I sworn , saith the LORD, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son: 17 That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies ; 18 And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed ; because thou hast obeyed my voice.  19 So Abraham returned unto his young men, and they rose up and went together to Beersheba; and Abraham dwelt at Beersheba.  20 And it came to pass after these things, that it was told Abraham, saying , Behold, Milcah, she hath also born children unto thy brother Nahor;  21 Huz his firstborn, and Buz his brother, and Kemuel the father of Aram,  22 And Chesed, and Hazo, and Pildash, and Jidlaph, and Bethuel.  23 And Bethuel begat Rebekah: these eight Milcah did bear to Nahor, Abraham's brother.  24 And his concubine, whose name was Reumah, she bare also Tebah, and Gaham, and Thahash, and Maachah.
Psalm 15:1-5
1 LORD, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill?  2 He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart.  3 He that backbiteth not with his tongue, nor doeth evil to his neighbour, nor taketh up a reproach against his neighbour.  4 In whose eyes a vile person is contemned ; but he honoureth them that fear the LORD. He that sweareth to his own hurt , and changeth not. 5 He that putteth not out his money to usury, nor taketh reward against the innocent. He that doeth these things shall never be moved .

Luke 12:1-31
1 In the mean time, when there were gathered together an innumerable multitude of people, insomuch that they trode one upon another, he began to say unto his disciples first of all, Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.  2 For there is nothing covered , that shall not be revealed ; neither hid, that shall not be known . 3 Therefore whatsoever ye have spoken in darkness shall be heard in the light; and that which ye have spoken in the ear in closets shall be proclaimed upon the housetops.  4 And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do . 5 But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear : Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.  6 Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God?  7 But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered . Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.  8 Also I say unto you, Whosoever shall confess me before men , him shall the Son of man also confess before the angels of God:  9 But he that denieth me before men shall be denied before the angels of God.  10 And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but unto him that blasphemeth against the Holy Ghost it shall not be forgiven . 11 And when they bring you unto the synagogues, and unto magistrates, and powers, take ye no thought how or what thing ye shall answer , or what ye shall say : 12 For the Holy Ghost shall teach you in the same hour what ye ought to say . 13 And one of the company said unto him, Master, speak to my brother, that he divide the inheritance with me.  14 And he said unto him, Man, who made me a judge or a divider over you?  15 And he said unto them, Take heed , and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth . 16 And he spake a parable unto them, saying , The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully : 17 And he thought within himself, saying , What shall I do , because I have no room where to bestow my fruits?  18 And he said , This will I do : I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods.  19 And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease , eat , drink , and be merry . 20 But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be , which thou hast provided ? 21 So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.  22 And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat ; neither for the body, what ye shall put on . 23 The life is more than meat, and the body is more than raiment.  24 Consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap ; which neither have storehouse nor barn; and God feedeth them: how much more are ye better than the fowls?  25 And which of you with taking thought can add to his stature one cubit?  26 If ye then be not able to do that thing which is least, why take ye thought for the rest?  27 Consider the lilies how they grow : they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.  28 If then God so clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith?  29 And seek not ye what ye shall eat , or what ye shall drink , neither be ye of doubtful mind . 30 For all these things do the nations of the world seek after : and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things.  31 But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Genesis 21:1-34
1 And the LORD visited Sarah as he had said , and the LORD did unto Sarah as he had spoken . 2 For Sarah conceived , and bare Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him. 3 And Abraham called the name of his son that was born unto him, whom Sarah bare to him, Isaac.  4 And Abraham circumcised his son Isaac being eight days old, as God had commanded him. 5 And Abraham was an hundred years old, when his son Isaac was born unto him. 6 And Sarah said , God hath made me to laugh, so that all that hear will laugh with me. 7 And she said , Who would have said unto Abraham, that Sarah should have given children suck ? for I have born him a son in his old age.  8 And the child grew , and was weaned : and Abraham made a great feast the same day that Isaac was weaned . 9 And Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, which she had born unto Abraham, mocking . 10 Wherefore she said unto Abraham, Cast out this bondwoman and her son: for the son of this bondwoman shall not be heir with my son, even with Isaac.  11 And the thing was very grievous in Abraham's sight because of his son.  12 And God said unto Abraham, Let it not be grievous in thy sight because of the lad, and because of thy bondwoman; in all that Sarah hath said unto thee, hearken unto her voice; for in Isaac shall thy seed be called . 13 And also of the son of the bondwoman will I make a nation, because he is thy seed.  14 And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and took bread, and a bottle of water, and gave it unto Hagar, putting it on her shoulder, and the child, and sent her away : and she departed , and wandered in the wilderness of Beersheba.  15 And the water was spent in the bottle, and she cast the child under one of the shrubs.  16 And she went , and sat her down over against him a good way off , as it were a bowshot : for she said , Let me not see the death of the child. And she sat over against him, and lift up her voice, and wept . 17 And God heard the voice of the lad; and the angel of God called to Hagar out of heaven, and said unto her, What aileth thee, Hagar? fear not; for God hath heard the voice of the lad where he is. 18 Arise , lift up the lad, and hold him in thine hand; for I will make him a great nation.  19 And God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water; and she went , and filled the bottle with water, and gave the lad drink . 20 And God was with the lad; and he grew , and dwelt in the wilderness, and became an archer . 21 And he dwelt in the wilderness of Paran: and his mother took him a wife out of the land of Egypt.  22 And it came to pass at that time, that Abimelech and Phichol the chief captain of his host spake unto Abraham, saying , God is with thee in all that thou doest : 23 Now therefore swear unto me here by God that thou wilt not deal falsely with me, nor with my son, nor with my son's son: but according to the kindness that I have done unto thee, thou shalt do unto me, and to the land wherein thou hast sojourned . 24 And Abraham said , I will swear . 25 And Abraham reproved Abimelech because of a well of water, which Abimelech's servants had violently taken away . 26 And Abimelech said , I wot not who hath done this thing: neither didst thou tell me, neither yet heard I of it, but to day.  27 And Abraham took sheep and oxen, and gave them unto Abimelech; and both of them made a covenant.  28 And Abraham set seven ewe lambs of the flock by themselves. 29 And Abimelech said unto Abraham, What mean these seven ewe lambs which thou hast set by themselves? 30 And he said , For these seven ewe lambs shalt thou take of my hand, that they may be a witness unto me, that I have digged this well.  31 Wherefore he called that place Beersheba; because there they sware both of them.  32 Thus they made a covenant at Beersheba: then Abimelech rose up , and Phichol the chief captain of his host, and they returned into the land of the Philistines.  33 And Abraham planted a grove in Beersheba, and called there on the name of the LORD, the everlasting God.  34 And Abraham sojourned in the Philistines' land many days.
Psalm 14:1-7
1 The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt , they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.  2 The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand , and seek God.  3 They are all gone aside , they are all together become filthy : there is none that doeth good, no, not one.  4 Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge ? who eat up my people as they eat bread, and call not upon the LORD.  5 There were they in great fear : for God is in the generation of the righteous.  6 Ye have shamed the counsel of the poor, because the LORD is his refuge.  7 Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! when the LORD bringeth back the captivity of his people, Jacob shall rejoice , and Israel shall be glad .

Luke 11:29-54
29 And when the people were gathered thick together , he began to say , This is an evil generation: they seek a sign; and there shall no sign be given it, but the sign of Jonas the prophet.  30 For as Jonas was a sign unto the Ninevites, so shall also the Son of man be to this generation.  31 The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with the men of this generation, and condemn them: for she came from the utmost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and, behold , a greater than Solomon is here.  32 The men of Nineve shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold , a greater than Jonas is here.  33 No man, when he hath lighted a candle, putteth it in a secret place, neither under a bushel, but on a candlestick, that they which come in may see the light.  34 The light of the body is the eye: therefore when thine eye is single, thy whole body also is full of light; but when thine eye is evil, thy body also is full of darkness.  35 Take heed therefore that the light which is in thee be not darkness.  36 If thy whole body therefore be full of light, having no part dark, the whole shall be full of light, as when the bright shining of a candle doth give thee light . 37 And as he spake , a certain Pharisee besought him to dine with him: and he went in , and sat down to meat . 38 And when the Pharisee saw it, he marvelled that he had not first washed before dinner.  39 And the Lord said unto him, Now do ye Pharisees make clean the outside of the cup and the platter; but your inward part is full of ravening and wickedness.  40 Ye fools, did not he that made that which is without make that which is within also?  41 But rather give alms of such things as ye have ; and, behold , all things are clean unto you.  42 But woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs, and pass over judgment and the love of God: these ought ye to have done , and not to leave the other undone . 43 Woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye love the uppermost seats in the synagogues, and greetings in the markets.  44 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are as graves which appear not, and the men that walk over them are not aware of them. 45 Then answered one of the lawyers, and said unto him, Master, thus saying thou reproachest us also.  46 And he said , Woe unto you also, ye lawyers! for ye lade men with burdens grievous to be borne, and ye yourselves touch not the burdens with one of your fingers.  47 Woe unto you! for ye build the sepulchres of the prophets, and your fathers killed them.  48 Truly ye bear witness that ye allow the deeds of your fathers: for they indeed killed them, and ye build their sepulchres.  49 Therefore also said the wisdom of God, I will send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they shall slay and persecute : 50 That the blood of all the prophets, which was shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation;  51 From the blood of Abel unto the blood of Zacharias, which perished between the altar and the temple: verily I say unto you, It shall be required of this generation.  52 Woe unto you, lawyers! for ye have taken away the key of knowledge: ye entered not in yourselves, and them that were entering in ye hindered . 53 And as he said these things unto them, the scribes and the Pharisees began to urge him vehemently, and to provoke him to speak of many things:  54 Laying wait for him, and seeking to catch something out of his mouth, that they might accuse him.
Genesis 20:1-18
1 And Abraham journeyed from thence toward the south country, and dwelled between Kadesh and Shur, and sojourned in Gerar.  2 And Abraham said of Sarah his wife, She is my sister: and Abimelech king of Gerar sent , and took Sarah.  3 But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and said to him, Behold, thou art but a dead man , for the woman which thou hast taken ; for she is a man's wife . 4 But Abimelech had not come near her: and he said , Lord, wilt thou slay also a righteous nation?  5 Said he not unto me, She is my sister? and she, even she herself said , He is my brother: in the integrity of my heart and innocency of my hands have I done this. 6 And God said unto him in a dream, Yea, I know that thou didst this in the integrity of thy heart; for I also withheld thee from sinning against me: therefore suffered I thee not to touch her. 7 Now therefore restore the man his wife; for he is a prophet, and he shall pray for thee, and thou shalt live : and if thou restore her not, know thou that thou shalt surely die , thou, and all that are thine. 8 Therefore Abimelech rose early in the morning, and called all his servants, and told all these things in their ears: and the men were sore afraid . 9 Then Abimelech called Abraham, and said unto him, What hast thou done unto us? and what have I offended thee, that thou hast brought on me and on my kingdom a great sin? thou hast done deeds unto me that ought not to be done . 10 And Abimelech said unto Abraham, What sawest thou , that thou hast done this thing?  11 And Abraham said , Because I thought , Surely the fear of God is not in this place; and they will slay me for my wife's sake.  12 And yet indeed she is my sister; she is the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother; and she became my wife.  13 And it came to pass, when God caused me to wander from my father's house, that I said unto her, This is thy kindness which thou shalt shew unto me; at every place whither we shall come , say of me, He is my brother.  14 And Abimelech took sheep, and oxen, and menservants, and womenservants, and gave them unto Abraham, and restored him Sarah his wife.  15 And Abimelech said , Behold, my land is before thee: dwell where it pleaseth thee.  16 And unto Sarah he said , Behold, I have given thy brother a thousand pieces of silver: behold, he is to thee a covering of the eyes, unto all that are with thee, and with all other: thus she was reproved . 17 So Abraham prayed unto God: and God healed Abimelech, and his wife, and his maidservants; and they bare children. 18 For the LORD had fast closed up all the wombs of the house of Abimelech, because of Sarah Abraham's wife.
Psalm 13:1-6
1 How long wilt thou forget me, O LORD? for ever? how long wilt thou hide thy face from me? 2 How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart daily? how long shall mine enemy be exalted over me? 3 Consider and hear me, O LORD my God: lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death;  4 Lest mine enemy say , I have prevailed against him; and those that trouble me rejoice when I am moved . 5 But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation.  6 I will sing unto the LORD, because he hath dealt bountifully with me.

Luke 11:1-28
1 And it came to pass , that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased , one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray , as John also taught his disciples.  2 And he said unto them, When ye pray , say , Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come . Thy will be done , as in heaven, so in earth.  3 Give us day by day our daily bread.  4 And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.  5 And he said unto them, Which of you shall have a friend, and shall go unto him at midnight, and say unto him, Friend, lend me three loaves;  6 For a friend of mine in his journey is come to me, and I have nothing to set before him?  7 And he from within shall answer and say , Trouble me not: the door is now shut , and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give thee.  8 I say unto you, Though he will not rise and give him, because he is his friend, yet because of his importunity he will rise and give him as many as he needeth . 9 And I say unto you, Ask , and it shall be given you; seek , and ye shall find ; knock , and it shall be opened unto you.  10 For every one that asketh receiveth ; and he that seeketh findeth ; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened . 11 If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father , will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent?  12 Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion?  13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?  14 And he was casting out a devil, and it was dumb. And it came to pass , when the devil was gone out , the dumb spake ; and the people wondered . 15 But some of them said , He casteth out devils through Beelzebub the chief of the devils.  16 And others, tempting him, sought of him a sign from heaven.  17 But he, knowing their thoughts, said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation ; and a house divided against a house falleth . 18 If Satan also be divided against himself, how shall his kingdom stand ? because ye say that I cast out devils through Beelzebub.  19 And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your sons cast them out ? therefore shall they be your judges.  20 But if I with the finger of God cast out devils, no doubt the kingdom of God is come upon you.  21 When a strong man armed keepeth his palace, his goods are in peace:  22 But when a stronger than he shall come upon him , and overcome him, he taketh from him all his armour wherein he trusted , and divideth his spoils.  23 He that is not with me is against me: and he that gathereth not with me scattereth . 24 When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he saith , I will return unto my house whence I came out . 25 And when he cometh , he findeth it swept and garnished . 26 Then goeth he , and taketh to him seven other spirits more wicked than himself; and they enter in , and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first.  27 And it came to pass , as he spake these things, a certain woman of the company lifted up her voice, and said unto him, Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the paps which thou hast sucked . 28 But he said , Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.
Genesis 19:1-38
1 And there came two angels to Sodom at even; and Lot sat in the gate of Sodom: and Lot seeing them rose up to meet them; and he bowed himself with his face toward the ground;  2 And he said , Behold now, my lords, turn in , I pray you, into your servant's house, and tarry all night , and wash your feet, and ye shall rise up early , and go on your ways. And they said , Nay; but we will abide in the street all night . 3 And he pressed upon them greatly; and they turned in unto him, and entered into his house; and he made them a feast, and did bake unleavened bread, and they did eat . 4 But before they lay down , the men of the city, even the men of Sodom, compassed the house round , both old and young, all the people from every quarter:  5 And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the men which came in to thee this night? bring them out unto us, that we may know them. 6 And Lot went out at the door unto them, and shut the door after him,  7 And said , I pray you, brethren, do not so wickedly . 8 Behold now, I have two daughters which have not known man; let me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and do ye to them as is good in your eyes: only unto these men do nothing ; for therefore came they under the shadow of my roof.  9 And they said , Stand back. And they said again, This one fellow came in to sojourn , and he will needs be a judge : now will we deal worse with thee, than with them. And they pressed sore upon the man, even Lot, and came near to break the door.  10 But the men put forth their hand, and pulled Lot into the house to them, and shut to the door.  11 And they smote the men that were at the door of the house with blindness, both small and great: so that they wearied themselves to find the door.  12 And the men said unto Lot, Hast thou here any besides? son in law, and thy sons, and thy daughters, and whatsoever thou hast in the city, bring them out of this place:  13 For we will destroy this place, because the cry of them is waxen great before the face of the LORD; and the LORD hath sent us to destroy it. 14 And Lot went out , and spake unto his sons in law, which married his daughters, and said , Up , get you out of this place; for the LORD will destroy this city. But he seemed as one that mocked unto his sons in law.  15 And when the morning arose , then the angels hastened Lot, saying , Arise , take thy wife, and thy two daughters, which are here ; lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city.  16 And while he lingered , the men laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters; the LORD being merciful unto him: and they brought him forth , and set him without the city.  17 And it came to pass, when they had brought them forth abroad, that he said , Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed . 18 And Lot said unto them, Oh, not so, my Lord:  19 Behold now, thy servant hath found grace in thy sight, and thou hast magnified thy mercy, which thou hast shewed unto me in saving my life; and I cannot escape to the mountain, lest some evil take me, and I die : 20 Behold now, this city is near to flee unto, and it is a little one: Oh, let me escape thither, (is it not a little one?) and my soul shall live . 21 And he said unto him, See, I have accepted thee concerning this thing also, that I will not overthrow this city, for the which thou hast spoken . 22 Haste thee, escape thither; for I cannot do any thing till thou be come thither. Therefore the name of the city was called Zoar.  23 The sun was risen upon the earth when Lot entered into Zoar.  24 Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven;  25 And he overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground.  26 But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.  27 And Abraham gat up early in the morning to the place where he stood before the LORD:  28 And he looked toward Sodom and Gomorrah, and toward all the land of the plain, and beheld , and, lo, the smoke of the country went up as the smoke of a furnace.  29 And it came to pass, when God destroyed the cities of the plain, that God remembered Abraham, and sent Lot out of the midst of the overthrow, when he overthrew the cities in the which Lot dwelt . 30 And Lot went up out of Zoar, and dwelt in the mountain, and his two daughters with him; for he feared to dwell in Zoar: and he dwelt in a cave, he and his two daughters.  31 And the firstborn said unto the younger, Our father is old , and there is not a man in the earth to come in unto us after the manner of all the earth:  32 Come , let us make our father drink wine, and we will lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father.  33 And they made their father drink wine that night: and the firstborn went in , and lay with her father; and he perceived not when she lay down , nor when she arose . 34 And it came to pass on the morrow, that the firstborn said unto the younger, Behold, I lay yesternight with my father: let us make him drink wine this night also; and go thou in , and lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father.  35 And they made their father drink wine that night also: and the younger arose , and lay with him; and he perceived not when she lay down , nor when she arose . 36 Thus were both the daughters of Lot with child by their father.  37 And the firstborn bare a son, and called his name Moab: the same is the father of the Moabites unto this day.  38 And the younger, she also bare a son, and called his name Benammi: the same is the father of the children of Ammon unto this day.
Psalm 12:1-8
1 Help , LORD; for the godly man ceaseth ; for the faithful fail from among the children of men.  2 They speak vanity every one with his neighbour: with flattering lips and with a double heart do they speak . 3 The LORD shall cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speaketh proud things: 4 Who have said , With our tongue will we prevail ; our lips are our own: who is lord over us? 5 For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now will I arise , saith the LORD; I will set him in safety from him that puffeth at him. 6 The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.  7 Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.  8 The wicked walk on every side, when the vilest men are exalted .

Luke 10:21-42
21 In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit, and said , I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes: even so, Father; for so it seemed good in thy sight.  22 All things are delivered to me of my Father: and no man knoweth who the Son is , but the Father; and who the Father is , but the Son, and he to whom the Son will reveal him.  23 And he turned him unto his disciples, and said privately , Blessed are the eyes which see the things that ye see : 24 For I tell you, that many prophets and kings have desired to see those things which ye see , and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear , and have not heard them. 25 And, behold , a certain lawyer stood up , and tempted him, saying , Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?  26 He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou ? 27 And he answering said , Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.  28 And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do , and thou shalt live . 29 But he, willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbour?  30 And Jesus answering said , A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment , and wounded him, and departed , leaving him half dead . 31 And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side . 32 And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side . 33 But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed , came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him, 34 And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.  35 And on the morrow when he departed , he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more , when I come again , I will repay thee.  36 Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves?  37 And he said , He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go , and do thou likewise.  38 Now it came to pass , as they went , that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house.  39 And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet, and heard his word.  40 But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him , and said , Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me.  41 And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things:  42 But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.
Genesis 18:1-33
1 And the LORD appeared unto him in the plains of Mamre: and he sat in the tent door in the heat of the day;  2 And he lift up his eyes and looked , and, lo, three men stood by him: and when he saw them, he ran to meet them from the tent door, and bowed himself toward the ground,  3 And said , My Lord, if now I have found favour in thy sight, pass not away , I pray thee, from thy servant:  4 Let a little water, I pray you, be fetched , and wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree:  5 And I will fetch a morsel of bread, and comfort ye your hearts; after that ye shall pass on : for therefore are ye come to your servant. And they said , So do , as thou hast said . 6 And Abraham hastened into the tent unto Sarah, and said , Make ready quickly three measures of fine meal, knead it, and make cakes upon the hearth . 7 And Abraham ran unto the herd, and fetcht a calf tender and good, and gave it unto a young man; and he hasted to dress it. 8 And he took butter, and milk, and the calf which he had dressed , and set it before them; and he stood by them under the tree, and they did eat . 9 And they said unto him, Where is Sarah thy wife? And he said , Behold, in the tent.  10 And he said , I will certainly return unto thee according to the time of life; and, lo, Sarah thy wife shall have a son. And Sarah heard it in the tent door, which was behind him.  11 Now Abraham and Sarah were old and well stricken in age; and it ceased to be with Sarah after the manner of women.  12 Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying , After I am waxed old shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also ? 13 And the LORD said unto Abraham, Wherefore did Sarah laugh , saying , Shall I of a surety bear a child, which am old ? 14 Is any thing too hard for the LORD? At the time appointed I will return unto thee, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son.  15 Then Sarah denied , saying , I laughed not; for she was afraid . And he said , Nay; but thou didst laugh . 16 And the men rose up from thence, and looked toward Sodom: and Abraham went with them to bring them on the way . 17 And the LORD said , Shall I hide from Abraham that thing which I do ; 18 Seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him? 19 For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do justice and judgment; that the LORD may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him. 20 And the LORD said , Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous ; 21 I will go down now, and see whether they have done altogether according to the cry of it, which is come unto me; and if not, I will know . 22 And the men turned their faces from thence, and went toward Sodom: but Abraham stood yet before the LORD.  23 And Abraham drew near , and said , Wilt thou also destroy the righteous with the wicked?  24 Peradventure there be fifty righteous within the city: wilt thou also destroy and not spare the place for the fifty righteous that are therein?  25 That be far from thee to do after this manner, to slay the righteous with the wicked: and that the righteous should be as the wicked, that be far from thee: Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?  26 And the LORD said , If I find in Sodom fifty righteous within the city, then I will spare all the place for their sakes. 27 And Abraham answered and said , Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak unto the Lord, which am but dust and ashes:  28 Peradventure there shall lack five of the fifty righteous: wilt thou destroy all the city for lack of five? And he said , If I find there forty and five, I will not destroy it. 29 And he spake unto him yet again , and said , Peradventure there shall be forty found there. And he said , I will not do it for forty's sake. 30 And he said unto him, Oh let not the Lord be angry , and I will speak : Peradventure there shall thirty be found there. And he said , I will not do it, if I find thirty there. 31 And he said , Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak unto the Lord: Peradventure there shall be twenty found there. And he said , I will not destroy it for twenty's sake. 32 And he said , Oh let not the Lord be angry , and I will speak yet but this once: Peradventure ten shall be found there. And he said , I will not destroy it for ten's sake. 33 And the LORD went his way , as soon as he had left communing with Abraham: and Abraham returned unto his place.
Psalm 11:1-7
1 In the LORD put I my trust : how say ye to my soul, Flee as a bird to your mountain?  2 For, lo, the wicked bend their bow, they make ready their arrow upon the string, that they may privily shoot at the upright in heart.  3 If the foundations be destroyed , what can the righteous do ? 4 The LORD is in his holy temple, the LORD'S throne is in heaven: his eyes behold , his eyelids try , the children of men.  5 The LORD trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth . 6 Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup.  7 For the righteous LORD loveth righteousness; his countenance doth behold the upright.

January 10, 2014 - King James Version
Luke 10:1-20
1 After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come . 2 Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.  3 Go your ways : behold , I send you forth as lambs among wolves.  4 Carry neither purse, nor scrip, nor shoes: and salute no man by the way.  5 And into whatsoever house ye enter , first say , Peace be to this house.  6 And if the son of peace be there, your peace shall rest upon it: if not, it shall turn to you again . 7 And in the same house remain , eating and drinking such things as they give: for the labourer is worthy of his hire. Go not from house to house.  8 And into whatsoever city ye enter , and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you:  9 And heal the sick that are therein , and say unto them, The kingdom of God is come nigh unto you.  10 But into whatsoever city ye enter , and they receive you not, go your ways out into the streets of the same, and say , 11 Even the very dust of your city, which cleaveth on us, we do wipe off against you: notwithstanding be ye sure of this, that the kingdom of God is come nigh unto you.  12 But I say unto you, that it shall be more tolerable in that day for Sodom, than for that city.  13 Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works had been done in Tyre and Sidon, which have been done in you, they had a great while ago repented , sitting in sackcloth and ashes.  14 But it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgment, than for you.  15 And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted to heaven, shalt be thrust down to hell.  16 He that heareth you heareth me; and he that despiseth you despiseth me; and he that despiseth me despiseth him that sent me.  17 And the seventy returned again with joy, saying , Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name.  18 And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.  19 Behold , I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.  20 Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice , because your names are written in heaven.
Genesis 17:1-27
1 And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.  2 And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly . 3 And Abram fell on his face: and God talked with him, saying , 4 As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations.  5 Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee . 6 And I will make thee exceeding fruitful , and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee. 7 And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee.  8 And I will give unto thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land wherein thou art a stranger, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God.  9 And God said unto Abraham, Thou shalt keep my covenant therefore, thou, and thy seed after thee in their generations.  10 This is my covenant, which ye shall keep , between me and you and thy seed after thee; Every man child among you shall be circumcised . 11 And ye shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin; and it shall be a token of the covenant betwixt me and you. 12 And he that is eight days old shall be circumcised among you, every man child in your generations, he that is born in the house, or bought with money of any stranger , which is not of thy seed.  13 He that is born in thy house, and he that is bought with thy money, must needs be circumcised : and my covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant.  14 And the uncircumcised man child whose flesh of his foreskin is not circumcised , that soul shall be cut off from his people; he hath broken my covenant.  15 And God said unto Abraham, As for Sarai thy wife, thou shalt not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall her name be. 16 And I will bless her, and give thee a son also of her: yea, I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of people shall be of her. 17 Then Abraham fell upon his face, and laughed , and said in his heart, Shall a child be born unto him that is an hundred years old? and shall Sarah, that is ninety years old, bear ? 18 And Abraham said unto God, O that Ishmael might live before thee!  19 And God said , Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son indeed; and thou shalt call his name Isaac: and I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his seed after him.  20 And as for Ishmael, I have heard thee : Behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful , and will multiply him exceedingly ; twelve princes shall he beget , and I will make him a great nation.  21 But my covenant will I establish with Isaac, which Sarah shall bear unto thee at this set time in the next year.  22 And he left off talking with him, and God went up from Abraham.  23 And Abraham took Ishmael his son, and all that were born in his house, and all that were bought with his money, every male among the men of Abraham's house; and circumcised the flesh of their foreskin in the selfsame day, as God had said unto him. 24 And Abraham was ninety years old and nine, when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.  25 And Ishmael his son was thirteen years old, when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.  26 In the selfsame day was Abraham circumcised , and Ishmael his son.  27 And all the men of his house, born in the house, and bought with money of the stranger , were circumcised with him.
Psalm 10:1-18
1 Why standest thou afar off, O LORD? why hidest thou thyself in times of trouble?  2 The wicked in his pride doth persecute the poor: let them be taken in the devices that they have imagined . 3 For the wicked boasteth of his heart's desire, and blesseth the covetous , whom the LORD abhorreth . 4 The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts.  5 His ways are always grievous ; thy judgments are far above out of his sight: as for all his enemies , he puffeth at them. 6 He hath said in his heart, I shall not be moved : for I shall never be in adversity.  7 His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and fraud: under his tongue is mischief and vanity.  8 He sitteth in the lurking places of the villages: in the secret places doth he murder the innocent: his eyes are privily set against the poor.  9 He lieth in wait secretly as a lion in his den: he lieth in wait to catch the poor: he doth catch the poor, when he draweth him into his net.  10 He croucheth , and humbleth himself, that the poor may fall by his strong ones.  11 He hath said in his heart, God hath forgotten : he hideth his face; he will never see it. 12 Arise , O LORD; O God, lift up thine hand: forget not the humble . 13 Wherefore doth the wicked contemn God? he hath said in his heart, Thou wilt not require it. 14 Thou hast seen it; for thou beholdest mischief and spite, to requite it with thy hand: the poor committeth himself unto thee; thou art the helper of the fatherless.  15 Break thou the arm of the wicked and the evil man: seek out his wickedness till thou find none.  16 The LORD is King for ever and ever: the heathen are perished out of his land.  17 LORD, thou hast heard the desire of the humble: thou wilt prepare their heart, thou wilt cause thine ear to hear : 18 To judge the fatherless and the oppressed, that the man of the earth may no more oppress .

January 9, 2014 - King James Version
Luke 9:28-62
28 And it came to pass about an eight days after these sayings , he took Peter and John and James, and went up into a mountain to pray . 29 And as he prayed , the fashion of his countenance was altered, and his raiment was white and glistering . 30 And, behold , there talked with him two men, which were Moses and Elias:  31 Who appeared in glory, and spake of his decease which he should accomplish at Jerusalem.  32 But Peter and they that were with him were heavy with sleep: and when they were awake , they saw his glory, and the two men that stood with him.  33 And it came to pass , as they departed from him, Peter said unto Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias: not knowing what he said . 34 While he thus spake , there came a cloud, and overshadowed them: and they feared as they entered into the cloud.  35 And there came a voice out of the cloud, saying , This is my beloved Son: hear him.  36 And when the voice was past , Jesus was found alone. And they kept it close , and told no man in those days any of those things which they had seen . 37 And it came to pass , that on the next day, when they were come down from the hill, much people met him.  38 And, behold , a man of the company cried out , saying , Master, I beseech thee, look upon my son: for he is mine only child.  39 And, lo , a spirit taketh him, and he suddenly crieth out ; and it teareth him that he foameth again, and bruising him hardly departeth from him.  40 And I besought thy disciples to cast him out ; and they could not.  41 And Jesus answering said , O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you, and suffer you? Bring thy son hither.  42 And as he was yet a coming , the devil threw him down , and tare him. And Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, and healed the child, and delivered him again to his father.  43 And they were all amazed at the mighty power of God. But while they wondered every one at all things which Jesus did , he said unto his disciples,  44 Let these sayings sink down into your ears: for the Son of man shall be delivered into the hands of men.  45 But they understood not this saying, and it was hid from them, that they perceived it not: and they feared to ask him of that saying.  46 Then there arose a reasoning among them, which of them should be greatest.  47 And Jesus, perceiving the thought of their heart, took a child, and set him by him,  48 And said unto them, Whosoever shall receive this child in my name receiveth me: and whosoever shall receive me receiveth him that sent me: for he that is least among you all, the same shall be great.  49 And John answered and said , Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name; and we forbad him, because he followeth not with us.  50 And Jesus said unto him, Forbid him not: for he that is not against us is for us.  51 And it came to pass , when the time was come that he should be received up , he stedfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem,  52 And sent messengers before his face: and they went , and entered into a village of the Samaritans, to make ready for him.  53 And they did not receive him, because his face was as though he would go to Jerusalem.  54 And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said , Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elias did ? 55 But he turned , and rebuked them, and said , Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of . 56 For the Son of man is not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them. And they went to another village.  57 And it came to pass , that, as they went in the way, a certain man said unto him, Lord, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest . 58 And Jesus said unto him, Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.  59 And he said unto another, Follow me. But he said , Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father.  60 Jesus said unto him, Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of God.  61 And another also said , Lord, I will follow thee; but let me first go bid them farewell , which are at home at my house.  62 And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back , is fit for the kingdom of God.
Genesis 16:1-16
1 Now Sarai Abram's wife bare him no children : and she had an handmaid, an Egyptian, whose name was Hagar.  2 And Sarai said unto Abram, Behold now, the LORD hath restrained me from bearing : I pray thee, go in unto my maid; it may be that I may obtain children by her. And Abram hearkened to the voice of Sarai.  3 And Sarai Abram's wife took Hagar her maid the Egyptian, after Abram had dwelt ten years in the land of Canaan, and gave her to her husband Abram to be his wife.  4 And he went in unto Hagar, and she conceived : and when she saw that she had conceived , her mistress was despised in her eyes.  5 And Sarai said unto Abram, My wrong be upon thee: I have given my maid into thy bosom; and when she saw that she had conceived , I was despised in her eyes: the LORD judge between me and thee. 6 But Abram said unto Sarai, Behold, thy maid is in thy hand; do to her as it pleaseth thee . And when Sarai dealt hardly with her, she fled from her face.  7 And the angel of the LORD found her by a fountain of water in the wilderness, by the fountain in the way to Shur.  8 And he said , Hagar, Sarai's maid, whence camest thou ? and whither wilt thou go ? And she said , I flee from the face of my mistress Sarai.  9 And the angel of the LORD said unto her, Return to thy mistress, and submit thyself under her hands.  10 And the angel of the LORD said unto her, I will multiply thy seed exceedingly , that it shall not be numbered for multitude.  11 And the angel of the LORD said unto her, Behold, thou art with child, and shalt bear a son, and shalt call his name Ishmael; because the LORD hath heard thy affliction.  12 And he will be a wild man; his hand will be against every man, and every man's hand against him; and he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren.  13 And she called the name of the LORD that spake unto her, Thou God seest me: for she said , Have I also here looked after him that seeth me?  14 Wherefore the well was called Beerlahairoi ; behold, it is between Kadesh and Bered.  15 And Hagar bare Abram a son: and Abram called his son's name, which Hagar bare , Ishmael.  16 And Abram was fourscore and six years old, when Hagar bare Ishmael to Abram.
Psalm 9:1-20
1 I will praise thee, O LORD, with my whole heart; I will shew forth all thy marvellous works . 2 I will be glad and rejoice in thee: I will sing praise to thy name, O thou most High.  3 When mine enemies are turned back, they shall fall and perish at thy presence.  4 For thou hast maintained my right and my cause; thou satest in the throne judging right.  5 Thou hast rebuked the heathen, thou hast destroyed the wicked, thou hast put out their name for ever and ever.  6 O thou enemy , destructions are come to a perpetual end : and thou hast destroyed cities ; their memorial is perished with them.  7 But the LORD shall endure for ever: he hath prepared his throne for judgment.  8 And he shall judge the world in righteousness, he shall minister judgment to the people in uprightness.  9 The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble.  10 And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee. 11 Sing praises to the LORD, which dwelleth in Zion: declare among the people his doings.  12 When he maketh inquisition for blood, he remembereth them: he forgetteth not the cry of the humble . 13 Have mercy upon me, O LORD; consider my trouble which I suffer of them that hate me, thou that liftest me up from the gates of death:  14 That I may shew forth all thy praise in the gates of the daughter of Zion: I will rejoice in thy salvation.  15 The heathen are sunk down in the pit that they made : in the net which they hid is their own foot taken . 16 The LORD is known by the judgment which he executeth : the wicked is snared in the work of his own hands. Higgaion. Selah.  17 The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.  18 For the needy shall not alway be forgotten : the expectation of the poor shall not perish for ever.  19 Arise , O LORD; let not man prevail : let the heathen be judged in thy sight.  20 Put them in fear , O LORD: that the nations may know themselves to be but men. Selah.

January 8, 2014 - King James Version
Luke 9:1-27
1 Then he called his twelve disciples together , and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases.  2 And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick . 3 And he said unto them, Take nothing for your journey, neither staves, nor scrip, neither bread, neither money; neither have two coats apiece.  4 And whatsoever house ye enter into, there abide , and thence depart . 5 And whosoever will not receive you, when ye go out of that city, shake off the very dust from your feet for a testimony against them.  6 And they departed , and went through the towns, preaching the gospel , and healing every where.  7 Now Herod the tetrarch heard of all that was done by him: and he was perplexed , because that it was said of some, that John was risen from the dead;  8 And of some, that Elias had appeared ; and of others, that one of the old prophets was risen again . 9 And Herod said , John have I beheaded : but who is this, of whom I hear such things? And he desired to see him.  10 And the apostles, when they were returned , told him all that they had done . And he took them, and went aside privately into a desert place belonging to the city called Bethsaida.  11 And the people, when they knew it, followed him: and he received them, and spake unto them of the kingdom of God, and healed them that had need of healing.  12 And when the day began to wear away , then came the twelve, and said unto him, Send the multitude away , that they may go into the towns and country round about, and lodge , and get victuals: for we are here in a desert place.  13 But he said unto them, Give ye them to eat . And they said , We have no more but five loaves and two fishes; except we should go and buy meat for all this people.  14 For they were about five thousand men. And he said to his disciples, Make them sit down by fifties in a company.  15 And they did so, and made them all sit down . 16 Then he took the five loaves and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed them, and brake , and gave to the disciples to set before the multitude.  17 And they did eat , and were all filled : and there was taken up of fragments that remained to them twelve baskets.  18 And it came to pass , as he was alone praying , his disciples were with him: and he asked them, saying , Whom say the people that I am ? 19 They answering said , John the Baptist; but some say, Elias; and others say, that one of the old prophets is risen again . 20 He said unto them, But whom say ye that I am ? Peter answering said , The Christ of God.  21 And he straitly charged them, and commanded them to tell no man that thing;  22 Saying , The Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be slain , and be raised the third day.  23 And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily , and follow me.  24 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.  25 For what is a man advantaged , if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away ? 26 For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed , when he shall come in his own glory, and in his Father's, and of the holy angels.  27 But I tell you of a truth, there be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the kingdom of God.
Genesis 15:1-21
1 After these things the word of the LORD came unto Abram in a vision, saying , Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.  2 And Abram said , Lord GOD, what wilt thou give me, seeing I go childless, and the steward of my house is this Eliezer of Damascus?  3 And Abram said , Behold, to me thou hast given no seed: and, lo, one born in my house is mine heir . 4 And, behold, the word of the LORD came unto him, saying , This shall not be thine heir ; but he that shall come forth out of thine own bowels shall be thine heir . 5 And he brought him forth abroad, and said , Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be. 6 And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness.  7 And he said unto him, I am the LORD that brought thee out of Ur of the Chaldees, to give thee this land to inherit it. 8 And he said , Lord GOD, whereby shall I know that I shall inherit it ? 9 And he said unto him, Take me an heifer of three years old , and a she goat of three years old , and a ram of three years old , and a turtledove, and a young pigeon.  10 And he took unto him all these, and divided them in the midst, and laid each piece one against another: but the birds divided he not. 11 And when the fowls came down upon the carcases, Abram drove them away . 12 And when the sun was going down , a deep sleep fell upon Abram; and, lo, an horror of great darkness fell upon him. 13 And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years;  14 And also that nation, whom they shall serve , will I judge : and afterward shall they come out with great substance.  15 And thou shalt go to thy fathers in peace; thou shalt be buried in a good old age.  16 But in the fourth generation they shall come hither again : for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet full.  17 And it came to pass, that, when the sun went down , and it was dark, behold a smoking furnace, and a burning lamp that passed between those pieces.  18 In the same day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying , Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates:  19 The Kenites, and the Kenizzites, and the Kadmonites,  20 And the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Rephaims,  21 And the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Girgashites, and the Jebusites.
Psalm 8:1-9
1 O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy glory above the heavens.  2 Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies , that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger . 3 When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained ; 4 What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him? 5 For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.  6 Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:  7 All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field;  8 The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas.  9 O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!

Luke 8:26-56
26 And they arrived at the country of the Gadarenes, which is over against Galilee.  27 And when he went forth to land, there met him out of the city a certain man, which had devils long time, and ware no clothes, neither abode in any house, but in the tombs.  28 When he saw Jesus, he cried out , and fell down before him, and with a loud voice said , What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God most high? I beseech thee, torment me not.  29 (For he had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For oftentimes it had caught him: and he was kept bound with chains and in fetters; and he brake the bands, and was driven of the devil into the wilderness.)  30 And Jesus asked him, saying , What is thy name? And he said , Legion: because many devils were entered into him.  31 And they besought him that he would not command them to go out into the deep.  32 And there was there an herd of many swine feeding on the mountain: and they besought him that he would suffer them to enter into them. And he suffered them.  33 Then went the devils out of the man, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the lake, and were choked . 34 When they that fed them saw what was done , they fled , and went and told it in the city and in the country.  35 Then they went out to see what was done ; and came to Jesus, and found the man, out of whom the devils were departed , sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed , and in his right mind : and they were afraid . 36 They also which saw it told them by what means he that was possessed of the devils was healed . 37 Then the whole multitude of the country of the Gadarenes round about besought him to depart from them; for they were taken with great fear: and he went up into the ship, and returned back again . 38 Now the man out of whom the devils were departed besought him that he might be with him: but Jesus sent him away , saying , 39 Return to thine own house, and shew how great things God hath done unto thee. And he went his way , and published throughout the whole city how great things Jesus had done unto him.  40 And it came to pass , that, when Jesus was returned , the people gladly received him: for they were all waiting for him.  41 And, behold , there came a man named Jairus, and he was a ruler of the synagogue: and he fell down at Jesus' feet, and besought him that he would come into his house:  42 For he had one only daughter, about twelve years of age, and she lay a dying . But as he went the people thronged him.  43 And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years , which had spent all her living upon physicians, neither could be healed of any,  44 Came behind him, and touched the border of his garment: and immediately her issue of blood stanched . 45 And Jesus said , Who touched me? When all denied , Peter and they that were with him said , Master, the multitude throng thee and press thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?  46 And Jesus said , Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me.  47 And when the woman saw that she was not hid , she came trembling , and falling down before him, she declared unto him before all the people for what cause she had touched him, and how she was healed immediately.  48 And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort : thy faith hath made thee whole ; go in peace.  49 While he yet spake , there cometh one from the ruler of the synagogue's house, saying to him , Thy daughter is dead ; trouble not the Master.  50 But when Jesus heard it, he answered him, saying , Fear not: believe only, and she shall be made whole . 51 And when he came into the house, he suffered no man to go in , save Peter, and James, and John, and the father and the mother of the maiden.  52 And all wept , and bewailed her: but he said , Weep not; she is not dead , but sleepeth . 53 And they laughed him to scorn , knowing that she was dead . 54 And he put them all out, and took her by the hand, and called , saying , Maid, arise . 55 And her spirit came again , and she arose straightway: and he commanded to give her meat . 56 And her parents were astonished : but he charged them that they should tell no man what was done .
Genesis 13:1-18
1 And Abram went up out of Egypt, he, and his wife, and all that he had, and Lot with him, into the south.  2 And Abram was very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold.  3 And he went on his journeys from the south even to Bethel, unto the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Bethel and Hai;  4 Unto the place of the altar, which he had made there at the first: and there Abram called on the name of the LORD.  5 And Lot also, which went with Abram, had flocks, and herds, and tents.  6 And the land was not able to bear them, that they might dwell together: for their substance was great, so that they could not dwell together.  7 And there was a strife between the herdmen of Abram's cattle and the herdmen of Lot's cattle: and the Canaanite and the Perizzite dwelled then in the land.  8 And Abram said unto Lot, Let there be no strife, I pray thee, between me and thee, and between my herdmen and thy herdmen ; for we be brethren.  9 Is not the whole land before thee? separate thyself , I pray thee, from me: if thou wilt take the left hand, then I will go to the right ; or if thou depart to the right hand, then I will go to the left . 10 And Lot lifted up his eyes, and beheld all the plain of Jordan, that it was well watered every where, before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, even as the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt, as thou comest unto Zoar.  11 Then Lot chose him all the plain of Jordan; and Lot journeyed east: and they separated themselves the one from the other.  12 Abram dwelled in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelled in the cities of the plain, and pitched his tent toward Sodom.  13 But the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the LORD exceedingly.  14 And the LORD said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward:  15 For all the land which thou seest , to thee will I give it , and to thy seed for ever.  16 And I will make thy seed as the dust of the earth: so that if a man can number the dust of the earth, then shall thy seed also be numbered . 17 Arise , walk through the land in the length of it and in the breadth of it; for I will give it unto thee. 18 Then Abram removed his tent , and came and dwelt in the plain of Mamre, which is in Hebron, and built there an altar unto the LORD.
Genesis 14:1-24
1 And it came to pass in the days of Amraphel king of Shinar, Arioch king of Ellasar, Chedorlaomer king of Elam, and Tidal king of nations;  2 That these made war with Bera king of Sodom, and with Birsha king of Gomorrah, Shinab king of Admah, and Shemeber king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela, which is Zoar.  3 All these were joined together in the vale of Siddim, which is the salt sea.  4 Twelve years they served Chedorlaomer, and in the thirteenth year they rebelled . 5 And in the fourteenth year came Chedorlaomer, and the kings that were with him, and smote the Rephaims in Ashteroth Karnaim, and the Zuzims in Ham, and the Emims in Shaveh Kiriathaim,  6 And the Horites in their mount Seir, unto Elparan, which is by the wilderness.  7 And they returned , and came to Enmishpat, which is Kadesh, and smote all the country of the Amalekites, and also the Amorites, that dwelt in Hazezontamar.  8 And there went out the king of Sodom, and the king of Gomorrah, and the king of Admah, and the king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela (the same is Zoar;) and they joined battle with them in the vale of Siddim;  9 With Chedorlaomer the king of Elam, and with Tidal king of nations, and Amraphel king of Shinar, and Arioch king of Ellasar; four kings with five.  10 And the vale of Siddim was full of slimepits ; and the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah fled , and fell there; and they that remained fled to the mountain.  11 And they took all the goods of Sodom and Gomorrah, and all their victuals, and went their way . 12 And they took Lot, Abram's brother's son, who dwelt in Sodom, and his goods, and departed . 13 And there came one that had escaped, and told Abram the Hebrew; for he dwelt in the plain of Mamre the Amorite, brother of Eshcol, and brother of Aner: and these were confederate with Abram.  14 And when Abram heard that his brother was taken captive , he armed his trained servants, born in his own house, three hundred and eighteen , and pursued them unto Dan.  15 And he divided himself against them, he and his servants, by night, and smote them, and pursued them unto Hobah, which is on the left hand of Damascus.  16 And he brought back all the goods, and also brought again his brother Lot, and his goods, and the women also, and the people.  17 And the king of Sodom went out to meet him after his return from the slaughter of Chedorlaomer, and of the kings that were with him, at the valley of Shaveh, which is the king's dale.  18 And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God.  19 And he blessed him, and said , Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth:  20 And blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all. 21 And the king of Sodom said unto Abram, Give me the persons, and take the goods to thyself. 22 And Abram said to the king of Sodom, I have lift up mine hand unto the LORD, the most high God, the possessor of heaven and earth,  23 That I will not take from a thread even to a shoelatchet , and that I will not take any thing that is thine, lest thou shouldest say , I have made Abram rich : 24 Save only that which the young men have eaten , and the portion of the men which went with me, Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre; let them take their portion.
Psalm 7:1-17
1 O LORD my God, in thee do I put my trust : save me from all them that persecute me, and deliver me: 2 Lest he tear my soul like a lion, rending it in pieces , while there is none to deliver . 3 O LORD my God, if I have done this; if there be iniquity in my hands;  4 If I have rewarded evil unto him that was at peace with me; (yea, I have delivered him that without cause is mine enemy Smile 5 Let the enemy persecute my soul, and take it; yea, let him tread down my life upon the earth, and lay mine honour in the dust. Selah.  6 Arise , O LORD, in thine anger, lift up thyself because of the rage of mine enemies : and awake for me to the judgment that thou hast commanded . 7 So shall the congregation of the people compass thee about : for their sakes therefore return thou on high.  8 The LORD shall judge the people: judge me, O LORD, according to my righteousness, and according to mine integrity that is in me. 9 Oh let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end ; but establish the just: for the righteous God trieth the hearts and reins.  10 My defence is of God, which saveth the upright in heart.  11 God judgeth the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day.  12 If he turn not, he will whet his sword; he hath bent his bow, and made it ready . 13 He hath also prepared for him the instruments of death; he ordaineth his arrows against the persecutors . 14 Behold, he travaileth with iniquity, and hath conceived mischief, and brought forth falsehood.  15 He made a pit, and digged it, and is fallen into the ditch which he made . 16 His mischief shall return upon his own head, and his violent dealing shall come down upon his own pate.  17 I will praise the LORD according to his righteousness: and will sing praise to the name of the LORD most high.
