Woah...

I just received a COMPLAINT email from someone saying that can't afford to travel from their distant country to attend my webinar!

Hmmmm.

I love what I do!

Let's try again.

A "webinar" is a live ONLINE presentation that you can watch and listen from the comfort and convenience of your computer.

No travel required!

But there are only so many live connections we can accommodate, so you have to register if you want to view it.

The next webinar is TONIGHT and it's filling up fast.

You'll learn...

- 4 common mistakes people make when handling the Scriptures

- How God elegantly leads us with the Holy Spirit AND with Scripture (so there is no contradiction)

- 7 HUGE benefits of studying Scripture

- A simple plan for getting started with the Bible

- Much more!

Post  Admin Tue 24 May 2016, 11:16 pm

Hey Elaine,
It's funny...

I've been doing this teaching series on the Bible and I haven't even talked about HOW to study it (yet).

That's because things have changed.

HOW to study the Bible isn't even the biggest obstacle anymore.

WHY to study it is something I thought I would never have to teach.

But it's the sign of the times we live in.

Mark my words...

"BIBLICAL ILLITERACY LEADS TO SPIRITUAL IGNORANCE."

And that explains this lukewarm generation.

Spiritual riches handed to us on a silver platter and we're too busy, to self-absorbed, to lazy to even reach out and take what is freely given.

Yes, I'm talking about the Scriptures.

Jesus said we must live by EVERY WORD of God (Mt. 4:4).

We don't get to pick and choose which words we want to live by.

"Oh, I'm led by the Spirit... God speaks to me directly... and the Bible is just a record of what He said in the past... I want to know what He says today."

*Rolling my eyes*

EVERY WORD OF GOD means living, spoken, or written!

At some point you're going to have to get over yourself and get into the Bible if you want to grow spiritually.

Seriously.

Lazy people who want instant answers, shortcuts, and "hacks" choose the easy path.

You know... going to a meeting, getting a "word" or getting somebody to lay hands on them and create some instantaneous breakthrough while they sit their like blob, soaking it all in, then going home and falling into the same problems all over again.

Or worse - relying on the pastor, preacher, prophet, or pope to tell them what to believe without once searching anything for themselves.

In His grace, God sometimes helps people when they do stupid stuff.

But you need to get some wisdom.

And for too many people, blasting the Bible is just an excuse for them not to do the actual work of reading, searching, studying, and doing what He says to do.

It's not that hard, but LAZY people find it unbearable.

I think LAZINESS is the root problem in these anti-Bible believers (so-called).

Oh yes, it's true that God wants to speak to us and lead us by His Spirit.

It's also true that the Holy Spirit uses Scripture to reveal Christ.

And the truth is, most of us cannot be led *only* by the Spirit anyway because we're too carnal, fleshly, immature, and doubled-minded.

The Holy Spirit cannot lead carnal Christians. That's kind of the point.

90% of people who claim to be "led by the Spirit" are really led by their feelings and emotions.

So God, seeing that this would be the case with most people until they grow up into Christ, said, "I'm going to write it down for you... My Will, My Ways, My Wisdom, as demonstrated in the lives of ordinary people and One Extraordinary Man so you can learn from their example."

All of these great spiritual truths and revelations written down in a book (of all things!).

A book that you probably have one or two dozen copies of right now, while people were killed trying to print, publish, pass it out or preach it.

And here we are, sitting in our Facebook groups talking about "Bibleolatry" and "we're led by the Spirit so we don't need to read the Bible."

Fools and blind!

God says, "My people are destroyed for a lack of knowledge" (Hos. 4:6).

For us, it isn't for a lack of information, preachers, teachers, books and Bibles.

It's because of a lack of knowledge - practical wisdom about how to take these wonderful spiritual truths and put them into practice.

I'm sick and tired of seeing God's people destroyed for a lack of knowledge.

That's why I've been doing this teaching series on Decoding the Bible.

In this week's teaching we're going to look at:

- 4 common mistakes people make when handling the Scriptures

- How God elegantly leads us with the Holy Spirit AND with Scripture (so there is no contradiction)

- 7 HUGE benefits of studying Scripture

- A simple plan for getting started with the Bible

- Much more!

Living the Christ-Life
by Chip Brogden
The ministry was my whole life – and I mean the ministry of pastoring, teaching, and so on. Even when I left Organized Religion the ministry was an idol to me. What could be more spiritual than ministry? What could be more “good” than being in the ministry? But over the process of years the Lord showed me how He judges things, not according to our standards of good and bad, but according to His standard of Life and Death.

That which Jesus originates in Himself and empowers me to do is living and produces fruit. That which I originate in myself and carry out in my own strength is Dead. The branch cannot bear fruit of itself. And people saved, sermons preached, and churches built apart from the Life of the Lord are simply dead activities carried out by dead branches.

Stop asking what is right or wrong, what is good or bad. Start asking, “Is this living or dead? How does the Spirit of Jesus respond to this? Do I sense life, or do I sense death?” That is the key. Now if we follow the Life of the Lord we will do the right thing every time. We will do the good thing every time. We will not have to wonder what the “right thing” is, and we will not have to worry about doing the “wrong thing”...

---------------------------------

Hey Elaine,

Yes, it really is the OLDEST argument in the world...

The OLDEST argument in the Book...

And it's the LONGEST RUNNING argument you'll ever hear.

(It's been going on for thousands of years.)

Yes, you have to go all the way back to the very beginning of human history...

Back to man's earliest days on earth.

There, in the garden of Eden...

From none other than the serpent himself...

(Our adversary, the devil)

We hear the first whisper of the ancient argument:

"YEA, HAS GOD SAID?"

Isn't it interesting that the first thing the devil did was to question God's word?

Just like some liberal-minded Christians today.

And the devil's first interaction with Eve was to get her to question what God said.

His method was to twist God's word around...

And twist Eve around...

Until she wasn't so sure!

Then it was pretty easy to get her to accept an interpretation that was inconsistent with Who God really is.

I mean, if you don't know what God said, how can you possibly interpret it or apply it correctly?

So here we are some six or seven thousand years later...

And we still have people just as deceived as Eve.

People who don't know the Word of God, so they don't know the God of the Word.

Half the time they miquote God, the other half of the time they just make stuff up.

Easy prey for the devil to get their thinking all twisted around a weird combination of half-truths and outright lies.

This week I'm going to expose those slippery satanic strategies and equip you to overcome them.

Because (not accidentally) the devil attacked Eve on three basic points that she could have easily overcome had she come to this week's webinar :-)

While it's too late for Eve, it's not too late for you.

I'm going to show you those three points of attack, how to defend against them, and how to turn the whole thing around into a great spiritual victory over the devil.

Meditation Chip Brogden - Page 3 OASIS-featured
A Way in the Wilderness
by Chip Brogden
The Cross does not eliminate weakness, it brings strength out of weakness. With less of me there is more of the Lord. So these wilderness experiences are designed to teach us something about weakness. When you are weak, when you have no strength, then Christ is revealed. You become conscious of a supernatural strength rising up from within. If you’re fasting you’re still hungry. The hunger doesn’t magically go away. If you’ve got a thorn in the flesh God doesn’t wave His magic wand and just take it away. What does He say? “I’ll not take the thorn away, but I will give you more grace, and you will learn by experience that My grace is sufficient.”

See, you don’t learn the sufficiency of Grace until you have experienced the insufficiency of Self. The sooner you give up the better. I go back to my original statement: we spend too much time crying and praying and asking God to take us out of whatever we’re in, and the thing we’re trying to get out of is the very thing God intends to use to teach you something of Himself. You say, “That’s a hard way to learn!” Well, who said it would be easy?

Hey Elaine,

I'm finding out that teaching people how to study the Bible doesn't do any good if they don't understand why the Bible matters.

So last week we discussed how Jesus viewed the Scriptures, which was intended to convey their importance.

I mean, if Jesus the Living Word regularly read, memorized, quoted and taught Scripture, what is our excuse for NOT doing so?

Are we more advanced than Jesus?

Of course not.

Are the super-spiritual people who think the Bible doesn't matter more advanced than Jesus?

Obviously not.

This week we're talking about how we got the Bible, so you can have an even greater appreciation for the many miracles it took to preserve the Scriptures and deliver them to us in a language we can read and understand.

Oh yeah... the house church folks might be interested to know that Scripture reading was an important part of meetings in the early Church.

You mean they actually had a spiritual, Scriptural purpose when they gathered? They didn't just hang out and fellowship?

That's right!

Amazing, isn't it?

Well, we'll talk about all that tonight and Saturday.

There are two options for you to join the live online webinar:

SATURDAY, MAY 14 – 10:00 AM EDT

Post  Admin Tue 10 May 2016, 6:17 pm

Hey Elaine,

I saw a news program the other day that showed how many people in our modern society still cannot read or write.

As an author, I love to write and to read, and I can’t imagine a world where I could do neither.

But as sad as illiteracy is, Biblical Illiteracy among modern-day Christians is many times worse!

Here are people who know how to read, who have a hundred different translations available to them, a thousand different kinds of study Bibles to choose from, and the freedom to read their own personal copy of the Scriptures without fear of being arrested or killed.

And yet...

We have this “super spiritual” attitude within the Church that increasingly sees the Scriptures as unnecessary, irrelevant, and not applicable to us today.

How else can you account for the stunning error and deception these days?

How else can you account for the ease with which the Church is so eager to compromise with the world in the name of “acceptance” and “not judging”?

When we throw out the Bible and claim to be “led by the Spirit” the question I have is, “Which ‘spirit’ do you think is leading you?”

We learned last week that everything Jesus did was grounded in reading and teaching Scripture – even after His resurrection.

We also learned that the outpouring of the Holy Spirit in Acts 2 was not some strange “woo woo” event, but everything that happened had a clear Scriptural basis.

That’s because God does not speak, act, lead, or reveal anything “new” outside of what has already been revealed in Scripture.

Scripture confirms (or fails to confirm) all teaching, revelation, belief, and opinion.

And without the written word of God to keep you grounded, your discernment is going to be wrong.

That’s why Jesus said, “You do err, because you don’t know the Scriptures, or the power of God.”

So my goal is to equip you with the Truth so you can be well-prepared to stand firm as millions of well-meaning but Biblically-ignorant people are swept away by error.

That’s why I’m inviting you to join us again this week for the second webinar in my series of teachings called “Decoding the Bible.”

Just register below, and when the time comes, you can watch and participate from the comfort and convenience of your computer.

There are two different days and times to choose from:

-- Option 2 --
SATURDAY, MAY 14 – 10:00 AM EDT

Hope to see you there!

My Mother and My Brothers
by Chip Brogden
The question that Jesus asked bears repeating today: Who is my brother? Who is my sister? Who is my mother? Certainly not everyone who says, “Lord! Lord!” will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. In similar manner, not everyone who says, “Brother! Brother!” is really a brother. Yet learning how to be a good brother or a good sister is the first thing Jesus wants to teach us. When we are born into this Family that is all we are – a brother or a sister. Every apostolic, prophetic, evangelistic, pastoral, or teaching ministry must have, as its foundation, the spiritual depth and maturity of knowing how to “just” be a brother or sister. We skip this necessary preparation at our own peril, and the Family of God suffers as a result.

Jesus says, “I will declare Your Name to My brothers, in the midst of the Ekklesia will I sing praise to You!” (Hebrews 2:12). Nothing brings more pleasure to the Father’s heart, and gives our Lord Jesus more reason to rejoice, than to be with His brothers and sisters in the midst of the Ekklesia that He is building...

Hey Elaine!

We had a great turnout at last night's webinar - and it was really nice to connect with everyone live!

I realize many of you couldn't make the live event because there are 24 time zones in the world and there's no way to pick one time that works for everyone.

So we're going to make the webinar available again in case you missed it the first time, or if you just want to hear it again.

Here you go:

[REPLAY] DECODING THE BIBLE WITH CHIP BROGDEN - Part 1
Sunday, May 8, 2016 @ 2:00 PM EDT

Click here to learn more and register:

Remember: there's no charge for the webinar, but donations are appreciated.

Just make sure you bring your Bible :-)

Hope to see you Sunday!

P.S. Some folks didn't realize that a "webinar" is entirely online. You don't have to travel. All you have to do is register, click the join link we send you when the time comes, and watch and listen from the comfort of your computer. How's that for easy?

P.P.S. Here's the original email, in case you missed it...

-----------------------

Hey Elaine,

The world is full of problems and crises, and I realize I can’t address them all or solve them all.

But there is one crisis I feel compelled by God to address.

Spiritually speaking I think it is one of the most, if not THE most, important spiritual crisis that we face as believers right now.

It is big, it’s getting bigger, and there seems to be no end in sight.

If you don’t prepare yourself for it, you may soon find yourself swept away by it.

In fact, some of you reading this may have already been swept away by it without realizing it.

When I say it is “a crisis of Biblical proportions” I’m not kidding.

What is it?

It is the crisis of Biblical illiteracy among so-called Christians and believers in Jesus.

Jesus - OUR LORD JESUS - said, "You do err, because you don't know the Scriptures, or the power of God" (Mt. 22:29).

And yet, a dangerous wave of liberal thought has invaded the minds and hearts of many people who profess to be followers of Jesus but think the Bible is old, outdated, not applicable, open to re-interpretation, or not even relevant to modern, sophisticated believers who are “led by the Spirit.”

This has been rumbling around in the house church / out-of-church movements for a good while and it is only getting worse.

Far from reflecting some new height of spiritual maturity, it actually reflects a new depth of spiritual ignorance and deception.

It is, really, an all-out satanic attempt to lead many astray, to deceive even the Elect, and undermine the very foundation of Testimony of Jesus.

It is taking the beauty and freedom of being “spiritual, not religious” and twisting it into something that God never intended – a world without objective truth or spiritual standard, where no one can judge and everything must be accepted.

This has really been bugging me for the last couple of years in particular, but for one reason or another, I have not been able to address it directly.

Well, this week that all changes.

I’m taking the first step to warn, educate, and equip a small group of faithful people who can be taught and who can teach others.

I’m just telling you now so you can pray for me and be prepared for what’s coming.

Be on the lookout for an email from me in a few days that says: “THIS IS IT.”

I am your brother,

Chip Brogden

In case you missed my last email, I've copied it below so you can see what we're doing.

Looking forward to seeing you online!

I am your brother,

Chip Brogden

(Here's the previous email...)

----------------

THIS IS IT.

I sent out an email a few days ago about this thing I am moved by God to address.

For thousands of years the devil and the world have tried to attack the Bible, prevent it from spreading, and kill anyone who printed, published, or preached it.

So far, the devil hasn't succeeded.

But what the enemy has been unable to do from the outside, Christians are successfully doing from the inside.

That's right.

People who say they "love Jesus" but they don't see the point of the Bible.

They "have the Holy Spirit" so they don't think the Bible has anything to say to them.

So I'm going to address this problem, expose it, and equip you with the TRUTH.

This week I'm beginning a series of live webinars to discuss this topic.

I'm going to expose this deception, and help you "decode the Bible" so you will be thoroughly equipped in the basics of a Christ-centered, Spirit-led, and SCRIPTURE-BASED walk with God!

So here is the first webinar:

DECODING THE BIBLE WITH CHIP BROGDEN - Part 1

A crisis of Biblical proportions

Hey Elaine,

I know with everything going on in the world many people sometimes feel overwhelmed by bad news.

The thing is, good people have felt that way for as long as there has been evil in the world.

That's why the Holy Spirit encourages us:

“Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good” (Rom. 12:21).

You might wonder (as I often do) why God allows evil to exist in the first place.

Without getting too theological, I offer the following as a partial answer to the question by way of encouragement:

http://www.chipbrogden.com/overcoming-evil/

The real miracle (as this blog points out) is that good exists at all in this world.

GREATER is He that is in us!

Keep your lamp trimmed and your Light shining!

Why I'm Not Always
Postive and Encouraging
by Chip Brogden
READ THIS ARTICLE
Since taking up the cross is basic to discipleship, why do we not hear more about it? Because crucifixions are not “family friendly”! Those who understand the cross in a practical way – meaning, those who are actually following the Lord Jesus as a disciple – know that this denial of Self is hardly a positive, encouraging experience. Dying is not easy! Letting go of my will and embracing the will of Another is hard! Being crucified daily is not a positive, encouraging event.

And so, in order to fulfill its obligation to its audience, Christian entertainers (pastors, preachers, prophets, and performers) must skirt the issue. If we look hard and long enough we might find anecdotal evidence of a song here, or a sermon there, or a few words sprinkled in that seem to hit the mark. Let us thank and praise God for anything we can get, but a few obligatory references to the true cost of discipleship every so often tend to get lost in a vast ocean of Christianspeak that mostly focuses on the positive and encouraging parts of the Bible and virtually ignores the hard, but necessary, sayings of Jesus.

Prevalence, Prominence,
and Preeminence
by Chip Brogden
READ THIS ARTICLE
The real truth is that Christ is simply not preeminent among many (most?) who call Him Lord. Jesus points this out by asking, “Why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord’ but you do not do what I say?” (Luke 6:46). We may give Him lip service and call Him Lord and think we are really giving Him preeminence – but the fact remains that most people just do whatever they want to do, ask God to bless it, and then wonder why they struggle so much. We may go through the motions of prayer and make a pretend surrender, but when it comes down to it, Christ just does not have preeminence in us!

I am not saying that Christ has no place at all in us, because that would be untrue. He does have a place. But I am saying that Christ does not have preeminence in us – the first word, the last word, the highest word, the absolute word. We may love Him as Savior but argue with Him as Lord. There is simply too much fighting, rationalizing, and struggling on our part. If Christ had preeminence all that squirming and wrestling and resisting Him would be unheard of. Yet, such squirming and wrestling and resisting characterizes a lot of the problems we experience. God says go left and we want to go right. God says go right and we want to go left. God says go and we want to stay. God says stay and we want to go. We are afraid to give Christ preeminence because we want to maintain a little control for ourselves. This only proves that Jesus does not have preeminence in us. We call Him Lord, but we do not do what He says. Therefore, He is Lord only a theoretical sense as far as our lives are concerned. This ought not to be.

So what happens, I believe, is we end up settling for much less than God’s highest goal of Christ having preeminence. It seems we go through a couple of stages before we grasp the significance of Christ having preeminence in us – not as a theory, not as a philosophy, not as a teaching, but as a matter of life and death. And I think this process is best described in three simple words: prevalence, prominence, and preeminence. Let’s look at each one and illustrate them...

The Altar is Already Built
by Chip Brogden
READ THIS ARTICLE
Why can’t we just gratefully accept what God has already built and stop trying to add to it?

Why do we have to keep going backwards to a time when people had to build altars and tabernacles and temples because they didn’t have the Spirit of the Living God living inside of them?

YOU ARE THE CHURCH THAT JESUS IS BUILDING!

YOU ARE THE TEMPLE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT!

And when you embrace the Cross, the Altar is already built.

All you have to do now is offer up YOURSELF as a living sacrifice on that altar (Rom. 12:1).

“I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish [any refuse, as the excrement of animals, offscourings, garbage, dregs, of things worthless and detestable, and all religious B.S., manure, and crap] that I may gain CHRIST” (Philippians 3:8).

Stop building crap FOR Him, offering crap TO Him, and defending the crap that people do in His Name!

All that is just a way to avoid offering up YOURSELF on the CROSS as living sacrifice – which is what God is really asking for...

The Triumph of Love

“He died FOR me!” says one who hears the story.

“He died AS me!” says one who knows the Man.

To embrace the Cross is

To take the greatest possible risk

To endure the greatest possible suffering

To overcome the greatest possible evil

To achieve the greatest possible good

To demonstrate the greatest possible love.

Love begets the desire to know intimately.

Intimate knowing begets trust.

Trust begets confidence.

Confidence begets boldness.

Boldness begets leaps of faith.

Leaps of faith beget victory.

Victory begets joy and peace.

Joy and peace beget gratitude.

Gratitude begets love.

Love begets the desire to know intimately...

What is Scripture Meditation,
and Does It Really Work?
by Chip Brogden
WATCH THIS VIDEO
Do you sometimes struggle with out-of-control thoughts – fear, doubt, worry, confusion, anxiety or stress?

Do you want to believe, but find your head keeps getting in the way of your heart?

Unless you're super spiritual (or not totally honest) then the answer yes - all of us do, from time to time!

And what I have learned is:

No matter how "spiritual" you may be, if you don't get your thoughts under control and get your mind renewed, you are limiting your spiritual growth.

I just made this video where I talk about the problem, why it exists, and why I created Scripture Meditation audio programs to help believers get control of unwanted thoughts and renew their minds.

But does it work?

Why Israel Matters
by Chip Brogden
“All these things happened to them as examples, and they were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages have come” (1 Cor. 10:11).

A lot of people read the Old Testament and try to go back to living under the Law.
If that’s you then congratulations – you officially missed the whole point.
Everything that happened to Israel happened as an example – often, of what NOT to do.
And these things were written down in a book so we could read them and be warned (that’s what “admonition” means).
And Israel’s example, and the warnings written down for us, are especially important because upon us the “ends of the ages” have come.
That’s right, the Last Days.
The times we’re living in right now.
Yes, events that happened thousands of years ago were recorded to teach us something.
So take all that and consider what it means.
People from our past wrote a book that provides a social, political, and spiritual history of a nation all the way from birth to death.
Then someone hands you this book and says, “Let their example be a warning to you who are living in the Last Days.”
Would you pay attention?

Not enough do.

But it’s right there, hidden in plain sight....

Meditation Chip Brogden - Page 3 Empty Re: Meditation Chip Brogden

Post  Admin Tue 15 Mar 2016, 8:27 pm

Hey Elaine,

Every day I go through what some might call a "ritual."

Some might even say I am being "legalistic."

But here's what I do:

I pray daily along the lines of what has become known as "the Lord's Prayer."

Basically, I'm spending time every day specifically setting aside my own needs and requests, and instead, praying for God's Will to be done, and God's Kingdom to come, "on earth, as it is in heaven."

About once every 2 or 3 years I am tempted to quit praying like this and just coast.

That is, I am almost persuaded by the super-spiritual among us who think that intentionally doing anything spiritual on a regular basis amounts to ritual, legalism, and religiosity.

Maybe that's YOUR reaction to my daily prayer thing.

Maybe you resist any attempt to pray daily, or read Scripture daily, or do anything along those lines for fear that it will become cold, legalistic, and lifeless.

Certainly, that's a possibility.

It's also possible that you're just being lazy, passive, and going to the extreme of "not being religious" to make yourself look free, liberated, and "Spirit-led."

I don't know.

But what I do know is this:

My little once-a-day prayer routine is nothing compared to Daniel.

Daniel did what I do - not once, but three times a day.

Daniel did it even when he was threatened with death.

And here we are, ready to give up whenever we get too busy, too inconvenienced, or too concerned for what we "don't" want to be like.

Of course, there are a lot of religious practices that are definitely legalistic and lifeless.

But sometimes the Bible uses a different word to describe things done on a regular basis with a pure heart.

That word?

FAITHFULNESS.

Here's one way to look at the difference...

- Legalism consistently does the right thing for the wrong motive.

- Faithfulness consistently does the right thing for the right motive.

So it's the motive (not the consistent action) that determines the nature of the act.

Daniel was faithful, so when they passed a law forbidding prayer, he just kept on praying three times a day.

Maybe we should pass a law forbidding prayer; maybe that would get people praying

Maybe we should pass a law forbidding the Bible; maybe that would get people to read it and appreciate it.

The other thing I think about is something God put on our heart many years ago:

"Teach these things to faithful people who can teach others" (2. Tim. 2:2).

I've always focused on "teaching these things," emphasizing the importance of Christ-centered teachings.

That's good, but it's not enough.

The key component here has nothing to do with the teacher or the teachings, but with the people being taught.

Paul was concerned for the handing down of a Christ-centered faith to successive generations of people, and to keep that testimony alive, he stressed the importance of teaching these things to FAITHFUL people.

Not half-hearted, lukewarm, one-foot-in and one-foot-out kind of people, here today and gone the next.

Faithful people - people who are consistent, regular, dependable, reliable, committed.

Faithful to God, faithful to His Word, faithful to His Will and His Kingdom.

Faithfulness can't be taught, because it's a fruit of the Spirit.

But faithfulness can definitely be measured, and we can see if we're faithful or unfaithful.

For example, if I am faithful to my wife, it means I am consistently devoted to her and I reject every other romantic relationship.

That's faithfulness in marriage.

It's either there, or it isn't - there is no getting around it or making excuses for it.

Some in the world think that kind of commitment to one person for life is impractical, unrealistic, or even "legalistic."

We who know better, know that this idea of "one man, one woman, for life" is God's plan for marriage.

Well, guess what?

It's also God's plan for our "marriage" with Him.

"These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful" (Rev. 17:14).

Did you catch that?

Many are called, few are chosen, and even fewer are faithful.

Now, the point of this email is not to accuse you of anything, or get you to do something - it's only to ask you to prayerfully consider (or reconsider) that what you may be resisting as too legalistic or too religious may actually be a call to greater faithfulness and sacrifice.

Yes, a greater commitment requires paying a greater price.

Sometimes, faithfulness will require the ultimate sacrifice, and may even get you thrown into a den of lions or a fiery furnace.

But we have a choice.

We can be people of principle, or people of thrown around by every wave of feeling and opinion.

We can be faithful and fruitful, or we can go around pretending to be "free" - and fruitless.

When the Son of Man returns, will He find faith (faithfulness) in the earth?

Hello Elaine,

Why are people so easily misled?

Because they lack basic discernment.

Or, at least, they don't trust their discernment.

Most people think of discernment in terms of judging something as right or wrong, good or bad.

But that's the wrong measure.

The correct measure is not right or wrong, but Life or Death!

Read this and see if you agree:

REAL!
Hello Elaine!

I'm going to be REAL in this email, so please bear with me.

If you've been with us for any length of time then you probably remember that back in August I sensed the Lord telling me to close everything down and just minister to Him.

This was not just one of those "take a little time off" things, but a total shutdown.

For all intents and purposes, I was dead and buried for several months.

It was scary!

Then I had to ask myself… why is this so scary?

After all, this is what I teach - death to Self, dying so you can live, embracing the Cross.

God showed me the reason why it was so scary…

Because so much of my identity had become wrapped up in "ministry."

Frankly, The School of Christ had become so big that I could "hide" myself behind it.

Why would I "hide" myself behind a ministry?

Because, after 30 years of being beat up by people, you learn to put up defensive walls.

Actually, that's what they teach you in the pastorate.

Stay professional, keep yourself apart from people and a little bit above them, protect yourself from the inevitable attacks you're going to experience in the ministry.

That has been my way for most of my life.

I thought that was all behind me when I left the church in 1999 and began writing and teaching "outside the camp."

I was wrong… it got worse!

But what God showed me is I cannot "hide" behind a ministry anymore - not if I really want to touch people.

And really (He said), "The School of Christ" is not called to do anything.

He called "me," not "it!"

And to prove it, He showed me that when "it" died, part of "me" died as well.

That's why it felt scary.

Isn't that weird?

Shouldn't I have already learned that lesson years ago?

Maybe so.

But if you think coming out of church is hard, let me tell you… that's easy, compared to coming out of ministry!

Of course, we can never truly "come out" of the Church (the Ekklesia) that Jesus is building…

And we can never truly "come out" of any ministry that He has put us into (assuming He put us into it), since God does not change His mind concerning the gifts and callings…

But before we can ever truly "go in" to the Church that Jesus is building, we have to "come out" of the man-made replica.

Likewise, before we can ever truly "go in" to the ministry, we have to "come out" of the ministry mindset that is based on FEAR and PLEASING MAN.

What happens is we get led away from the simplicity of Christ and we start accepting as normal things that are not normal.

We let people dictate to us how to believe, think, and behave.

Fear of people - what will they think, what will they say, what will they do - drives much of what we do, or do not do, in our Christian life and in ministry.

We are afraid of being cursed, so we attend church and pay tithes.

Then we come out of church, and we are afraid of what people will think about us for not going.

And when you have any kind of teaching ministry, the fear is amplified 1,000 times.

I think if I ran a soup kitchen, things would be a lot different!

But when you are a writer or a teacher, everything you do or say is under a cloud of suspicion from people just waiting for you to slip up.

You know… the kind of people who put you up on a pedestal just so they can kick it out from under you and watch you fall.

After a while you learn how to play the game.

We ask for prayer, and we get people condemning us for our weaknesses, so we don't ask for prayer anymore.

We ask for support, and we get criticized for asking, so we don't ask for support.

When Karla had her first herniated disk in her back a few years ago, someone replied to say that she had sin in her life - that's why she was writhing in pain.

When my grandmother died, I wrote a short email to honor her memory - and someone wrote back to say I was full of fleshly pride.

When my first book was published over ten years ago, I was immediately attacked online as a false teacher - and I very nearly gave up writing.

These are just some examples that stand out in my mind.

You've probably experienced similar things.

And I'm not bringing them up because I'm angry or bitter - I'm just sharing my experiences.

But why do they stand out in my mind?

Because those accusations hurt!

Watchman Nee was attacked so severely by critics of his ministry that on a couple of occasions he was unable to get out of bed from the weight of depression.

I'm not comparing myself to Watchman Nee, but the point is this: when you get rewarded with PAIN every time you open up your heart and share, pretty soon you stop opening up your heart!

Then your heart becomes hardened and cold.

You start putting up walls.

You might even create a church or a ministry and hide behind it to protect yourself from people.

You keep pressing on, but you're still fearful and defensive.

You don't enter deeply into relationships with others because you know it won't last long anyway.

See how the enemy uses fear to shut you down and shut you up?

Well, no more.

I'm not here to say that I am some new, improved, fearless version of myself.

Far from it!

I still come to you in weakness, in fear, and in trembling.

But the point is I'm going to keep coming.

I struggle with pride and hurt and the past and everything else people struggle with.

But I am realizing THAT will always be the case.

God didn't wait until I had all this worked out before He called me and revealed His Son in me!

Paul had a saying:

"By the grace of God, I am what I am" (1 Cor. 15:10).

During my time in New York I learned a similar saying that I've been using, too:

"It is what it is!"

I don't know what you're looking for or what you think I am, but I'm just saying that by God's grace I am going to be what He has called me to be:

I AM YOUR BROTHER.

I am a brother who writes, teaches, and shares the things God gives him to share.

My passion is to help people experience the freedom and joy of a Christ-centered faith that is based on relationship, not religion.

And for some reason God gave me a gift for being able to use words to explain complicated things to people in simple ways that they can (usually) understand.

So that's what I'm going to keep doing, for as long as God allows.

Still ministering to Him and putting Him first, as well as serving others as He leads.

Listen… being Christ-centered in a Church-centered or Self-Centered world is no easy task.

But I am what I am, and it is what it is.

So what I said a few months ago is still true…

If you are willing to accept me as a brother who occasionally writes, teaches, and shares what God gives him to share, then so be it. If you don't, then you don't.

If you believe in Christ-centered teachings, and you believe they are worthy of support, then support them. If you don't, then don't.

Loving, helping, serving, opening yourself up to people is risky.

But I think it is a risk that every follower of Jesus must take.

Thank you for hearing me out.

I am your brother

Hello Elaine!

Have you ever tried to get answers to questions, solutions to problems, or find a way through when there seems to be no way?

If so then you can appreciate the importance of REVELATION.

"Revelation" is when the Lord reveals the answer, solution, or way to you.

Maybe you're praying, or reading, or thinking, or just going along, and BOOM there is the answer, solution, or way through that you have been looking for.

A BREAKTHROUGH.

In my experience, these revelations are not accidental, but are intentional.

In fact, I believe there are many different ways to intentionally seek these breakthrough moments.

I talk about several of them in this article:

7 PROVEN WAYS TO RECEIVE REVELATION
http://www.chipbrogden.com/7-proven-ways-to-receive-revelation/

Although this is written from a prophetic standpoint, the process is the same for all of God's people, whether you consider yourself prophetic or not.
