YESTERDAY , TODAY and TOMORROW
GOD'S TIMETABLE  Part 1 of 4
By ~. Jack Trumm ~

It's been said that you can buy a newspaper and find out what happened yesterday. You can turn on the radio, television, or computer and find out what's happening today, but thank God, you can open your Bible and find out what's going to happen tomorrow. Actually, the Bible can tell us about and explain all three (yesterday, today and tomorrow).

GOD'S TIMETABLE

First of all, to learn where we are on God's timetable, remember this: the status of the nation Israel tells us where we are on God's timetable. Like the hands on a clock, this points to where we are in God's dealing with mankind.

Let's take today for example. What is the status of the nation Israel today, as far as God's word is concerned?

1. They have been set aside in unbelief.
2. Currently, they have no covenant relationship with God. (In fact no nation has.)
3. They are in partial (or temporary) blindness, and are being avoided (even considered enemies) by God as He blesses the Gentiles and focuses on them for the time being. Paul writes, "as concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election, they are beloved for the fathers' sakes." (Romans 11:28)

We can see from a brief study of the Bible, from Genesis 12, all the way through the rest of the Old Testament, and continuing through the four gospel accounts of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, and through the first seven chapters of the Book of Acts, God's focus of attention is His nation, Israel. The Book of Acts records the failure of the nation Israel to believe the claims of Christ, and their failure to accept the offer of their King and Kingdom nationally for the time being. Then with Paul's conversion, calling and message, we learn of Israel's temporary casting away or being set aside and avoided.

We can look around us, study current events and see that Israel still remains in unbelief, and still wails at the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem, crying out for God to speak to her. She wishes God would focus on her as in the days of old, and speak to her as in days of old. She remains in unbelief and blinded to this very day. So then, from examining Israel's current status and looking at the Bible, we can see where we are on God's timetable.

OUR YESTERDAY

The Bible explains our yesterday. It tells how God chose Israel to be his favored nation, and how He gave the Gentile nations over to their own lusts. Paul writes, "when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful, but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, and changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like unto corruptible man, and to birds, and four-footed beasts, and creeping things. Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves, who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen." (Romans 1:21-25)

>From then on the Gentiles are avoided, and often times ordered to get out of the way as God placed Israel into the promised land. And so from Genesis 12 unto Paul's conversion in Acts 9, the Gentiles are avoided by God and ignored. Paul wrote,"Wherefore remember, that ye being in times past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands, that at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world." (Ephesians 2:11-12)

In our yesterday, God's focus, His attention was on His favored nation, Israel. Even in our Lord's earthly ministry He made it very clear saying, "I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel" adding, "It is not meet to take the children's bread, and cast it to the dogs. " (Matthew 15:24,26) He commanded His disciples, saying, "Go NOT into the way of the Gentiles, and into ANY city of the Samaritans enter ye NOT: but go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel." (Matthew 10:5-6) And in further clarification, to the Samaritan woman our Lord Jesus said, "Ye worship ye know not what, we (Jews) know what we worship, for salvation is of the Jews." (John 4:22)

The Purpose Of The Law
  by Pastor C. R. Stam
How little most people know about the Law, the Ten Commandments!

First, most people have a hazy idea that the Law was given to Adam; that it existed as long as the history of man. This, of course, is wrong, for in John 1:17 we read: “The law was given by Moses.” Moses lived some 2,500 years after Adam, about 1,500 years before Christ. So for about 2,500 years mankind lived without the Ten Commandments.

Second, most people suppose that the Law was given to mankind in general, while the fact is that it was given to Israel alone. It was a covenant made between God and Israel. Before giving it God said: “Now therefore, if ye will obey My voice indeed, and keep My covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto Me above all people” (Ex. 19:5).This is not to say that the Law does not affect all men, for, as the divine standard of righteousness it affects us all.

Third, most people think that the Law was given to help us to be good.Even some clergymen teach this, though the Bible itself states again and again that the Law was given to show us that we are guilty sinners and need a Savior. Note the following Scripture passages.

Rom. 3:19: “Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them that are under the law, that every mouth may be stopped and all the world may be brought in guilty before God.”

Rom. 3:20: “By the law is the knowledge of sin.”

Gal. 3:19: “Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions….”

Thus the Law can only condemn the sinner. But thank God, “Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us; for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree” (Gal.3:13).

NO WORD, NO TRUTH
By M. Stanford
"Without faith it is impossible to please Him" (Heb. 11 :6).
Rationalism defies God; Ritualism degrades God.

"With Rationalism's intellectual audacity on the one hand, which dares to speak against the Word of God; and on the other hand, the outward piety of Ritualism - ---there is really the same root of infidelity at bottom. There is the supplanting of the plain truth of the inspired Word. Both get rid of it, depriving the soul of that which is the only means of a living link between God and man.

"It does not matter what the means or forms may be, whether the negative process of Rationalism, or the more positive claim of Ritualism: if man comes in -- whether it be his rites or his reasonings -- so as to exclude God's Word, or step between its authority and the soul of man, it becomes pretty much the same result in the end.

"Rationalism is the deification of human powers, in which man presumes by his own mind to judge the Word of God, and is therefore the infidelity of the intellect when either carried out to its results or judged in its principle.

"On the other hand Ritualism is the infidelity of the imagination, very often with piety underneath it, with a love for the Saviour that may preserve from the full consequences of the system, but in itself always savoring of and tending to idolatry.

"We cannot know the value of Christ the Truth unless we have the Spirit of Truth. Nevertheless, the test of having the Spirit of Truth, and of not being a prey to fanaticism, is that the soul is attracted and subject to the Lord Jesus Christ --- and this cannot be without faith produced and nourished by the Word of Truth." -W.K.

"Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God" (Rom. 10: 1 7).

Should this Inspirational be a blessing and encouragement to you, why not send to a friend, coworker or, to your loved one who maybe defending the USA. The Word of God is so needed in our troubled world.  It is our heart at  GRACE AND THE TRUTH and mission to reach as many people as we possibly can TO SHARE with them the Word of God and all that the Lord Jesus Christ has done for members of the body of Christ.

 THINK ON THESE SCRIPTURES

Christ is our life (see Acts 17:28; Galatians 2:20; Philippians 1:21; Colossians 3:4). To become obsessed with anything other than Him is idolatry, even if that other obsession is religious rules. Perhaps the greatest danger in the American church is that we have lost our focus on Jesus Christ and have been focusing more on "Christian values;' which is merely morality by another name.

    Our Purpose and Mission

The ministry of "Grace and The Truth" has the purpose of encouraging Christians to believe what God says.

We read in in Ephesians. 1:18 "The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of His calling, and what the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints," and in Colossians 2:2 " That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgment (epignosis) true knowledge of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ".

We are dedicated to helping Christians to a fuller knowledge of Him, and the Grace of God. Until we all come into the Unity, Ephesians 4:13 "Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ:"

Rom 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them

SCRIPTURAL CONFUSION
By Pastor Bob Hanna

God has provided for our comfort and security, His plan, purpose, demands, blessings, requirements and final, eternal destiny. We have, as it were, a complete road map to guide us through the course of our entire life span in accordance with His will. We are in possession of His complete revelation in convenient form: the Holy Bible. The Book is to be found in nearly every place where human beings dwell. It is cherished by many as though it were a talisman or phylactery. Millions of church goers carry it in and out of their respective places of worship once a week. It is loosely quoted, carelessly studied and ignorantly disrespected for what it is: the Word of God.

The vast majority of believers rely on the utterances of preachers, evangelists and other platform speakers as the authority re God's communication with His people. The result is that there is needless frustration, fear, doubt and insecurity tormenting their lives. In the course of his missionary journeys the Apostle Paul preached in the Jewish synagogue in Berea, having just spoken to the church at Thessalonica. The writer of the Book of Acts writes, "These [Bereans] were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the Scriptures daily, whether those things were so" (Acts 17:11). Good advice! The Bereans listened attentively to Paul's address, then they turned to the real authority (the Scriptures) for verification.

Paul instructed young Pastor Timothy, "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth" (2 Timothy 2:15). Two excellent guidelines: rely on the Scriptures as the one true authority for confirmation, and make a concentrated effort ("study to") to properly allocate ("rightly divide") the word of truth. To rightly divide the word of truth is to define what is spoken, to whom it is spoken, under what circumstances, with what intent and in what context and time frame. Unless one studies Scripture for himself, he will never gain the knowledge and confidence to mature into a testimony pleasing to God.

The only way to worry about nothing is to pray about everything.

Paul's Three I Am's
   by Pastor C. R. Stam

Three times in Romans 1:14-16, the Apostle Paul uses the phrase “I am”, and each one carries an important message for every true believer in Christ.

First, he says in verse 14: “I am debtor” —debtor to all men, to tell them about the saving work of Christ. But why was he indebted to people he had never even seen? For several reasons:

First, he had in his hand what they needed to be saved from the penalty and power of sin. If I see a drunkard lying across the railroad track and I do nothing about it, am I not a murderer if he is killed by the train? If I see a man drowning and I have a life buoy in my hand but do not throw it to him, am I not a murderer if he goes down for the last time? If I see millions of lost souls about me and, knowing the message of salvation, do not tell them, am I not guilty if they die without Christ?

Further, Paul felt himself a debtor to others, because the Christ who had died for his sins had also died for the sins of others. As he says in Ii Corinthians 5:14,15: “Christ died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto Him who died for them and rose again.”

Finally, the Christ who had died for Paul’s sins, had commissioned him to tell others of His saving grace. Thus he says in I Corinthians 9:16,17:

“Woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel! For…a dispensation of the gospel is committed unto me”(I Cor. 9:16,17).

Paul could say further what every true believer should be able to say:Not “I am debtor, but“, but rather, “I am debtor…SO, as much as in me is, I AM READY…”(Rom.1:15). He was ready to discharge his debt because he had that with which to discharge it — the wonderful “gospel of the grace of God”. And he did indeed make this the message known to others with all that was in him.

And now the third “I am”: “I am debtor…So I am ready… For I AM NOT ASHAMED of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth…” (Ver. 16). Paul was always proud to own Christ as the mighty Saviour from sin. Do you know Christ as your Saviour? Do you tell others of His saving grace?

Our Purpose and Mission

The ministry of "Grace and The Truth" has the purpose of encouraging Christians to believe what God says.

We are dedicated to helping Christians to a fuller knowledge of Him, and the Grace of God. Until we all come into the Unity, Ephesians 4:13 "Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:"

OUR COMMISSION IN THE AGE OF GRACE IS:

2Co 5:16-21  Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we [him] no more.  Therefore if any man [be] in Christ, [he is] a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.  And all things [are] of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;  To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.   Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech [you] by us: we pray [you] in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.  For he hath made him [to be] sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Heroes Of Faith
 by Pastor C. R. Stam

In Rom. 4:12 the Apostle Paul declares that Abraham was the father, not of his physical offspring alone, but also of those who“walk in the steps of that faith” which Abraham had.

Have you ever noticed that God does not hold the great men of Scripture up to us because of their personal virtues? Almost invariably their records are marred by failure and sin. But God bids us observe their faith and what their faith gained for them (See Rom. 4:3,9,11,12).

There is a whole chapter on this subject in the Book of Hebrews. Hebrews11 is properly called “the great faith chapter,” and its heroes“heroes of faith,” for it tells how Abel, Enoch, Noah, Abraham,Isaac, Jacob and scores of others “obtained a good report”before God. They all faltered and failed again and again, but Heb. 11:39declares that “these all… obtained a good report Through FAITH.”

This is why Rom. 4:9-12 states that God’s blessing is bestowed upon those who “walk in the steps of that faith” which Abraham exhibited, just as it was bestowed upon Abraham himself.

This truth is driven home in Verses 3 to 5 of the same chapter:

“For what saith the Scripture? Abraham believed God,and it was counted unto him for righteousness.

“Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.

“But to him that worketh not, but believeth on Him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness” (Rom.4:3-5).

Can God Forget?
  by Pastor Ricky Kurth

“And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more” (Heb. 10:17).

We know that God forgives the sins of His people, but does He forget them? It would seem so. Our text suggests that He “will not remember” the sins committed against Him by His children (Isa. 43:25). Believers have always found a great deal of comfort in this blessed thought.

But then God calls upon us to likewise forgive others “even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you” (Eph. 4:32). Doesn’t this suggest that we too should forgive and forget? Perhaps you are thinking, “But Pastor, you don’t know what they did to me!” True, but was it more than what was done to God when men crucified His Son?

Remember, God’s vow to forgive and forget the sins of His people includes even the brutal murder of His only begotten Son. We are tempted to think, “Well, it’s easy for God to forget,” but such is not the case. God says of the sins of unbelievers that He “will NEVER forget ANY of their works” (Amos 8:7). How then can this God of “total recall” forget our sins? Does His memory have a convenient “on/off ” switch that makes it easy for Him to forgive and forget? If so, then we who do not have such a switch would have an excuse for forgiving but not forgetting. But if God has such a switch, would He not also have to erase His memory of Calvary, or else forever wonder why His Son had to die? But it cannot be that God could forget the Cross, for Revelation 5:6 joins John 20:27 to reveal that the Lord’s resurrection body will forever bear the scars of the Cross, making it impossible for God—or us—to ever forget His sacrifice for our sins.

What then is the answer to our question? Can God forget our sins? Perhaps the reader has noticed that we never read that God will forget the sins of His people, but rather that He “will not remember” them. By a deliberate act of His “will” He chooses to act toward us AS IF He has forgotten our sins, on the basis of the blood of the Cross. That’s how fully and completely He has forgiven our sins. And if we are to forgive others “as”God forgave us, then we too must choose to act toward others as if we have so fully forgiven their transgressions against us that we have forgotten them—also on the basis of Christ’s shed blood. This and this alone is complete forgiveness of others, and it is high spiritual ground indeed.

May God help us to begin the new year with a slate wiped clean of “all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking...with all malice” (Eph. 4:31).

KNOW YE NOT?
By Pastor Marvin Duncan

Part 1. - The Book Of Romans
Part 2 of 2

To Whom Ye Yield Yourself

In keeping with his theme of our being freed from Sin by our identification into Christ's death, Paul addresses our separation from Sin in detail in the last part of Romans chapter six.

Paul has already established the fact that we died with Christ (Romans 6:3), were buried with Him (Romans 6:4) and were then raised with Him unto newness of life (Romans 6:5 & 11). Because of this identification with Christ, we are encouraged not to serve Sin (Romans 6:6-7). The whole purpose of this lengthy discussion of Sin no longer having dominion over the Saints is to press home the point that all relationships that once existed between the Saints and Sin have been severed because of their death with Christ. Not only had the Saints at Rome miss this most important teaching of our identification with Christ, they were not aware of the fact that man is a perpetual servant. Paul addresses this truth in Romans 6:16 by saying:

"KNOW YE NOT, THAT TO WHOM YE YIELD YOURSELF SERVANTS TO OBEY, HIS SERVANTS YE ARE TO WHOM YE OBEY."

We who live in the United States are prone to believe man was created to be an independent creature who is free to do what ever he wanted to do and is not responsible to anyone. This was never the case. No Scripture can be found to suggest man was created to be anything but a servant. Romans 6:16 makes this clear.

Paul's point in this last part of Romans chapter six is to show that every man was a servant (a SLAVE) to Sin by virtue of physical birth. The natural man may insist he is doing what he wants to do, but the truth is that Sin is his Master. The natural man can do nothing except what Sin wants him to do. The natural man is like a beast with a ring in his nose by which Sin leads him into the activities of the flesh. We were ALL the slaves of Sin before we were saved and we all did the bidding of our Master. BUT, with salvation and our death with Christ on Calvary, Sin's power as our Master was severed. Now, as the Saints of God, we have become the servants (the SLAVES) of "RIGHTEOUSNESS" (that; is, of Christ). The great difference between these two Masters is that Sin demands full obedience from his slaves; whereas Christ sets His servants free to serve Him out of a heart of love.

Most Christians fail to recognize Christ's ownership over the Saints of God. Yet, this is the whole purpose of God's redemption. By the shed blood of Christ, God purchased the Christians out of the slave market of Sin. Once a Slave of Sin has been bought by the Blood of Christ, Sin relinquishes all rights and claims over that one and Christ takes title to these slaves of Sin. Christ owns every believer because He purchased them. This is what Paul is speaking of in First Corinthians 6:20.

Romans 6:23 shows us the difference between these two masters. Sin takes everything from his slaves and rewards them with DEATH. Christ GIVES His servants the GIFT of Eternal Life.

The  Law  And The Living

The truth Paul would have us know is that we DO NOT have to serve Sin as our Master any more since we have been redeemed. If Sin continues to have any control of our life, it is because we have permitted him to take control of that which belongs to God. This is why every Christian should put Romans 6:12-13 into practice in his daily walk.

In Romans 7:1, Paul again challenges these Saints by asking the question, "KNOW YE NOT?" This time Paul speaks of the power the husband has over his wife because of the Law of Marriage. The Law of Marriage continues in force as long as the husband and wife are alive, but when one of the marriage partners dies, the Law of Marriage is broken and the remaining partner is free to be married to another.

Paul uses this Law of Marriage to teach the same truth he had been talking about in chapter six, that the Christian is no longer bound to Sin. In Romans 6:16-23, Paul speaks of the Master/Slave relationship. In Romans 7:1-6, Paul uses the Husband/Wife relationship, showing Sin as the husband and mankind as the wife. As long as a man remains alive, he is bound to Sin as a wife is bound to her husband. But, if the "wife" were to die, Sin would have no more authority over her because the Law of Marriage only has power over the living. Paul's point is that the "wife" who is saved, DIED with Christ on Calvary. Therefore, Sin no longer has any power over her because the Husband/Wife relationship was broken by the death of the "wife."

Just as the living member of the marriage relationship is free from the Law of Marriage when one partner dies (Romans 7:2-3), the same is also true of the dead partner. This is what Paul has in mind in Romans 7:4. Since the Christian DIED WITH CHRIST; his marriage to Sin has been broken. The Christian who is free from his marriage to Sin is now free to be married to Christ. In any marriage, the wife should bring forth children for her husband. This is the picture Paul presents in Romans 7:4. Having chosen to be married to Christ, we should, as a faithful wife, bring forth "FRUIT" unto God. This "FRUIT" is Spiritual offspring produced by the Christian as he is empowered by Christ.

In all three of these passages where Paul uses the phrase, "KNOW YE NOT," he wants the members of the Body of Christ to know of the freedom from Sin that results from the death they experienced by their identification with Christ.

The Word of God is so needed in our world today, especially in our own USA, if this devotion has been a blessing and encouragement to you, pass it on to a friend.

KNOW YE NOT?
By Pastor Marvin Duncan

Part 1. - The Book Of Romans
Part 1 of 2

There are many things the apostle Paul would have the members of the Body of Christ know and in our last study we saw some of the things he would not have us to be ignorant of concerning this dispensation of the Grace of God. Today, I would like for us to consider a phrase used by the Apostle Paul to call attention to something that is very important for all of God's redeemed of this dispensation to know. That phrase is, "KNOW YE NOT." As Paul presented the message of the Mystery to the different Gentile congregations, he expected them to grasp everything he taught about God's program for today. Yet, after Paul left these different areas, he received word that some of the Saints had not fully understood what he had taught, or they had neglected to put into practice some area of teaching that was necessary if these Saints were to walk well pleasing to our Lord. When writing to these congregations after hearing of their failure to live up to the teachings he had given them, Paul brings up these different doctrinal points by challenging his readers with the phrase, "KNOW YE NOT." He then proceeds to repeat the doctrine they were failing to put into practice in their personal lives.

In the Book of Romans we have three subjects that are introduced with the phrase, "KNOW YE NOT." Let us look at these passages and see if we can gain a fuller insight into Paul's teachings concerning the message of the Mystery which had been "HID IN GOD" (Ephesians 3:9) and "KEPT SECRET, SINCE THE WORLD BEGAN" (Romans 16:25).

Baptized Into Christ

Not only did the Saints of Paul's day lack a good understanding of the doctrine of baptism, many today are confused about what Paul taught in Romans 6:3, when he wrote:

"KNOW YE NOT, THAT SO MANY OF US AS WERE BAPTIZED INTO JESUS CHRIST WERE BAPTIZED INTO HIS DEATH?"

There are many Christians today who believe a water ceremony is being spoken of in this Romans 6:3 passage. Paul would not be talking about a water ceremony here because he had already taught that Water Baptism was not to be practiced in this dispensation of the Grace of God (First Corinthians 1:17). Water Baptism was given to the nation of Israel as a ceremony that identified the recipient into the Priesthood. In as much as there is no priesthood for the Body of Christ, there is no water ceremony to be practiced today in this dispensation of the Grace of God.

A majority of the problems surrounding the subject of BAPTISM would be answered if we recognized the fact that BAPTISM is a Greek word that has been inserted in our English text. If we are to understand what the writers of Scripture meant when they spoke of Baptism, let us use the English word, IDENTIFY or IDENTIFICATION, when we see this Greek word in our English text. In every place where the subject of Baptism is spoken of, we will find some kind of identification being referred to. This can be seen in Romans 6:3 if we use our English word, IDENTIFIED, in place of the Greek word, BAPTIZED. In this passage, Paul is talking about our oneness with Christ. The doctrine that had been missed by these Roman Saints was the fact that when Christ died on Calvary's Cross, God saw every believer as having died with Him there. It is this identification with Christ that gives us the power to overcome Sin. Not only were we identified with Christ in His death, we were also identified into His burial and His resurrection. This is why Paul encourages the Saints to live the resurrected life right now. (Romans 6:3-6).

Paul wanted these Saints at Rome (and all the members of the Body of Christ) to know that we already have the victory over sin. Because of our having died with Christ, Sin no longer has any claim upon us. Sin cannot dictate to, or exercise control over, a dead person. This is Paul's point in this Romans six passage. Since every believer died with Christ, and because of this death Sin has no claim upon, or power over, those who are IN CHRIST, why is it that so many Christians are not free from sin in their lives? The answer is simple. These Saints whose lives are weakened by sin have never understood the teaching of Romans 6:3. They do not know that Sin no longer has any authority over their lives. They have never put into practice the truth of Romans 13:14, where Paul said:

"PUT YE ON THE LORD JESUS CHRIST, AND MAKE NOT PROVISION FOR THE FLESH, TO FULFILL THE LUSTS THEREOF."

Because most Saints do not know that Sin is powerless due to our death WITH CHRIST, they ALLOW Sin to work in their lives. They even make allowances for sin in their lives by saying, "I can't help doing the things I do because this is the way God made me." This statement is just an excuse to satisfy the desires of the flesh and blame God for their actions.

"KNOWING GOD'S WILL"
By late Pastor Lloyd Peterson

We need to understand how to apply grace to the decision-making process of our lives. When grace rules a person's life his perspective changes on everything. He begins to understand that every detail of life flows from his relationship with God. Grace means that God does it all. We simply receive from Him, cooperating with the Holy Spirit by trusting Him moment by moment. To walk in grace doesn't mean that we are passive In matters of daily living. To the contrary, it means that we act in confidence, resting In the fact that it is God who will initiate, perpetuate, and consummate His plan for our lives.

Many believers fall short of the joy God intends for them because they fall to understand how His grace acts on our behalf to being to pass the wonderful plan He has for us. God has an awesome plan for your life. It isn't a cookie-cutter plan, either. He designed a special agenda that was uniquely created just for you. Before you were ever born, He saw you and customized His plan for your lifetime. (Ps.139:16) One of the greatest joys in life is knowing that you are experiencing the very purpose for which you were created. Fulfilling the will of God Is not some elusive goal that can never be reached. It Is possible for Christians to enjoy the experience of knowing that we are in the very center of God's purpose.

The starting point for understanding the will of God must be grace. The legalist asks, "What is the will of God for me?" The will of God is not primarily a plan, but instead is a Person. Jesus Christ is the wiII of God. When one rightly relates to Him, doing the wiII of God becomes the natural result of our union with Him.

Many Christians act like a deist* when it comes to God's will. They look for God to show them his wiII so that they can then go out and do it.

So under grace, it isn't the Christian's duty to find God's will, but rather God will reveal His will to the one who rests in Him.  A person ruled by law will pursue God's will with sincerity and yet never be confident that he has discovered it. One who enjoys intimacy with Jesus will know it without struggling to find it.

* A Deist, basically recognizes very little personal interaction between God and has empowered the car (earth) to run, and now it is up to many where he drives it and how he runs it.

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK

Liberty In Christ

In God Believers have liberty, going beyond what the eye can see,
We get this liberty in Jesus Christ, liberty gained through New Life.
Freedom from sin and The Law, bestowed upon the believing soul,
This freedom we have in God’s Son, is available today to everyone.

The liberty that we have from sin, gives Believers peace His within,
As sin’s desire died on the cross, God now purges remaining dross,
And God replaces old sinfulness, with Jesus Christ’s righteousness.
Even though we’re tempted by sin, in Christ we have victory in Him.

As Believers we use our liberty, to point the entire world to Calvary,
Where New Life for all the lost, begins for all at The Savior’s Cross.
As God judged sin and shame, on the cross bearing Christ’s name,
Where we left the bondage of sin, and freedom we received in Him.

This liberty we receive in this life, is used for honoring Jesus Christ,
Not for pursuing our own desires, but His will which is much higher.
We’ve been freed from religion friend, to point souls to a better end,
With God’s Truth that sets men free, with God’s Promise of Eternity.

My friend, The God of all Eternity, desires to give all men this liberty,
A liberty found only in His Son, who upon the cross said “It is done”,
Finished is the work of God’s salvation, by His Son, for every nation.
So all men can receive this liberty, with God’s assurance of Eternity.

THE UNITY OF THE BODY
By A. A. Sandoz

Scripture Reading: Romans 12:5; Ephesians 4:4

David in the Psalms wrote concerning his physical body that he was, "fearfully and wonderfully made." The human body is a marvel when we think of how the brain being the control center controls all body functions. I could not move my arm unless the brain (the instrument of spirit or mind) first signaled the arm to move through the muscles and system of nerves. I am totally dependent upon the brain. The brain is probably the last unexplored frontier of medical science. The average brain weighs about three pounds and contains twelve billion cells. One scientist has stated, "The human brain is the most complex arrangement of matter in the universe."

The members of the human body bring before us another amazement, that each member is dependent upon other members. My fingers cannot function apart from my hand, likewise my hand cannot function apart from the muscles and tendons in my arm. If I close the fingers of my right hand in a door my left hand is quick to the rescue to free my injured hand. My left hand is ready to comfort my injured hand by holding it until the pain is relieved. Other parts of my body are affected as well, I may feel weak in the legs or experience pain in my arm, this being because the body is one.

Remembering what we have said about the human body, as we turn to the Scriptures, Paul refers to the Church, the Body of Christ. This one body (Eph. 4:4) being a living organism is made up of believers which constitute the members. The Lord Jesus Christ is the Head of the Body or control center and all members must look to Him for wisdom, knowledge, guidance and counsel through the Pauline Revelation (Col. 2:3). The Apostle declares, "We are members one of another" (Rom. 4:5). When one of the members of the Body loses a loved one and is sorrowing we all sorrow and would seek to comfort. When one is newly saved and rejoicing in the Lord we as members rejoice as well. There is a mutual dependence upon one another which constitutes the, "Unity of the Body."

AS WE HAVE ENTERED INTO THIS  NEW YEAR 2015,  MY PRAYER IS THAT IT BE ONE OF PEACE AS YOU REST IN THE LORD JESUS CHRIST. I pray dear Lord of manifold grace, I earnestly yearn to grow in every aspect of Your grace. Lord Jesus, I humbly desire to find increasing intimacy with You. Please work Your grace deeply into my heart  and manifest it fully, as you live your life through me. I will trust you to make all the choices, and give you praise and credit for all.  Amen

EPHESIANS 1:4
"According as he hath chosen us
in him before the foundation of the world"

~BLESSED SOVEREIGNTY~

By His grace and mercy, our will becomes the Father's will when we choose the Saviour. May it ever continue!

As the master musician knows exactly how the symphonic rendition will sound before its notes vibrate upon the air, anticipating with accuracy every tone, cadence, and change of tempo, so God knows precisely what will occur and keeps it under control, though enacted by independent moral agencies. It is because God knows what the reactions of such 'free agencies' will be under any given set of circumstances, that He encompasses the inner circle of 'freedom' with His outer circle of sovereignty.

The will of man is guided by what he knows and what he desires. The divine method of reaching the will is by graciously increasing man's knowledge and by stimulating his desires, while on the divine side of this method there remains not the shadow of possible failure. The end is as certain as any eternal reality in God. On the human side, man is conscious of doing only what he actually does: he chooses as an act of his own volition to receive the grace God offers in Christ Jesus. By persuasion and enlightenment God realizes His purpose to the point of infinite completeness; yet no human will has ever coerced, nor will one ever be.

God's elective purposes are carried out in such an incomprehensible way through the internal and external influences of infinite love and wisdom that man is at no time conscious of any external compulsion, but only of choices and decisions in the exercise of his own free will. Knowledge of what God has accomplished by His own free will comes later by the channel of the Word.

".......being predestinated according to the purpose
of Him who worketh all things
after the counsel of his own will"
Eph 1 :11

A Jealous God
 by Pastor C. R. Stam

We heartily thank God for every politician, athlete, actor  or even criminal who comes to know Christ as Savior.  But  conversion alone does not qualify one for a place of prominence in Christian service.  This, especially in Paul’s epistles, is reserved for mature believers, wholly separated to  God and established in the truth (See especially II Tim.  2:21).

When hearts beat faster because of the presence of some  glamorous personality on the Christian platform; when  such personalities receive adulation which belongs rather  to the Christ who died for them, God is dishonored and  displeased.

True, the motive in procuring such “crowd-getters” may have been to reach greater numbers for Christ, just as some  of our spiritual leaders become yoked together with apostate unbelievers in evangelistic endeavors in order to reach  souls for Christ, but the end does not justify the means.  It  is never right to do wrong to accomplish some good end.

Have we forgotten that God’s Word says: “I the Lord thy God am a jealous God” (Ex 20:5) and “I will not give My   glory unto another” (Isa 48:11)?  True we quote here from  the Ten Commandments, but remember, Paul in his epistles quotes all the Ten Commandments except one (re the  sabbath).  The covenant of the Law has been done away but  not the moral law itself, and God is the only Being who has  legitimate and urgent reason to be jealous of His glory.   Christian leaders are playing a dangerous game when they  give glory due to God alone to prominent personalities so as  to swell their audiences.

It is time for the Church to realize that salvation is the  work of God and that true and lasting results will follow  only when we conduct His work in His way.

WHAT IS GRACE?
Of all words used in the Scriptures, the most wondrous is the word "Grace," for it sounds out the well-springs within the Being of God and re-echoes throughout the Heavens and earth all that is meaningful in the knowledge of God, His essential character, His motivation, and His glorious goals. Although not always apparent in the King James version, it brings to us from God all that we shall ever know of joy, of gladness, of giving, of forgiveness, of acceptance, of divine favor to the sinner and to the saved child of God. This word "Grace" has within its meaning the breath of far-off glories and all the nearness that God alone can bring of Himself to us, and of us to Him in the Beloved.

The Greek word "Charis" (grace) is derived from the verbal form "Chario" (to rejoice). This basic concept, that the super-abundant, exceeding abounding joy in the heart of the Divine Giver is the motivating factor by which God the Father deals with His elect today, has been lost sight of. Man has been led to look to so-called "means of grace" rather than the God of Grace. This grace offers to mankind a free salvation, redemption, position, and hope completely unfettered by good or bad deeds. Thus God, through His "joy" brought about by the complete work of Christ at Calvary, has laid the foundation within each believer for a similar "rejoicing" in the realization of the perfections of Christ and His complete free gift.

Of all words in Scripture it is involved with and/or embraces the greatest joy, the greatest beauty, the greatest hope, the greatest giving, the greatest gains, and the greatest glory. Unless one sees the grace of God, one is poor indeed and the great central truths that were meant to strengthen, gladden and enrich our lives have been "hidden from us." Oh, believer, read your legacy!

This root word "Chairo" is translated "rejoiced" in Matthew 2:10, "When they saw the star (over where the young child was) they rejoiced (chairo) with exceeding great joy (chairo )." That this root word should be first used in the New Testament in connection with the Gift of God, the Lord Jesus Christ, was cause for great joy then - and should be to us now. It is also interesting that the word "grace" (charis) in the noun form does not occur in Matthew's or Mark's Gospel. In looking over the lists of the various derivatives of the Greek root in the New Testament one is immediately struck by the frequency with which these different words are used in the same context, as rejoicing (chairo) with great joy (chara).

This verbal root "chairo" is translated "joy" in Philippians 2:17,18: "I joy and rejoice with you all," "do ye joy and rejoice with me." The context of this amazing "joy" is that neither Paul's activities, labors or soon execution were in vain if the "Word of Life" were held forth ... a joy more vast and outweighing the toils of life, a prisoner's chain, an executioner's sword. Could it be that if one has the plentitude of the Grace of God in Christ that all else is dwarfed beside it? Let us then pursue this treasure and with Paul say, "Rejoice (chairo) in the Lord always and again I say rejoice (chairo)" (Philippians 4:4).

That this root word should be translated "glad" should come as no surprise. "And when the Gentiles heard this they, were glad" (Acts 13:48). This usage is in keeping with "joy and rejoicing." Frequently the Authorized Version uses this verbal form as the salutation, "Hail," a very poor translation indeed, for if the Israelite could greet his fellow with, "Shalom," peace, and the Apostle Paul his fellow believers with, "Grace be unto you" (Ephesians 1:2), etc. , so the translators could have come up with something better than "Hail, i.e. good luck. Rotherharm uses "joy," cf. "rejoice."

CHARIN

Next in our search to discover "What is Grace" we want to explore briefly "Charin," the accusative case (also a participle governing the genitive case). It is used in Scripture as a prepositional phrase and translated in the A. V. , "because of, for this cause" (Eph. 3: 1,14; Gal. 3:19), etc., This concept of "for another, on behalf of another," brings to mind the noble note Paul unconsciously strikes in the Philemon epistle when he writes, "If he owes thee ought, be charging this to my account" (vs. 18). We are reminded, too, in II Cor. 5:19, "Not imputing their trespasses unto them." This imputation to another aspect of "grace" will be enlarged upon later under "Charis" grace.

Thus far we have seen that in the building up of this word "grace" we have "joy," "rejoicing" and "in behalf of." To this we would add still another building block.

CHARA (NOUN)

Almost without exception chara is translated "joy" in the A. V., a few times "gladness" and once "joyfully." The "cause of joy, the occasion of rejoicing, that which would bring forth gladness," as in Luke 2:10, "Bring you tidings of great joy." This was regarding the Saviour's birth, or His resurrection (Matt. 28:8), or again as in John 15:11 where Christ seeks to make His disciples partakers of His joy as He had of His peace (John 14:27). The term "my joy" is emphatic and should convey the thought of ''the joy that is mine." This is mentioned again in John 3:29 and 17: 13, and this "joy" having its basis in the grace of God should be shared! How often we share our troubles but not our joys! The one requires a "lift," the other gives a "lift." Paul's prayers were "buoyed" up by this joy (Phil. 1:4). In the 25th verse of Philippians 1 we again encounter this word as "joy of the faith." Might it not be that Paul has handed us a veritable treasure here? Like a voyager desiring to "return home," like a weary traveler departing, so Paul desired "to be with Christ," where He is, and, to accomplish this, "power" was available (see Phil. 3:20-21). It is a hope each of us shares - but for two reasons Paul was willing to forego this: (1) their furtherance in the faith and (2) the "joy" of faith. Have any of us so great a price been willing to pay (to forego being with Christ)? Paul nearly dismissed it, as if to say the "joy" of faith, the joy "revealed," the grace for the advancement of believers in this is to cause more abundant "rejoicing," (boasting, in Christ, verse 26). Is not this the goal of grace - to boast in Christ, His merit, not ours, His truth, not our tradition, His revelation of grace., etc., through the Scriptures, not our reasonings?

CHARISMA (NOUN)

When we first encounter this word in Romans 1:11 Paul is anticipating a "prosperous journey" to the Roman saints in order to impart some spiritual gift, i. e. spiritual, ''free gift," a grace-gift. This was used of Paul in order to establish them. It is used within the context, not of sign gifts (though so used in Romans 12:6) but of the basic foundational truths of "the righteousness of God" (verse 17). In the Corinthian letter it is used of sign gifts (I Cor. 12:4, 9, 28, 30, 31). The great tragedy associated with confounding "this free gift" with the Giver Himself accounts for the great distress in the holiness movements past and present.

In Scripture when dealing with the Holy Spirit or His gifts the grammar always distinguishes between the "Giver" and the "gift." Those who seek the sign - gifts when the purpose and need for signs has ceased seek to "energize up" by the flesh what God had given previously as a "free gift." Now they strain, mutter and pray. Not even the great Apostle enjoined sign gifts after the testimony to Israel ceased, for the Jews required a sign (I Cor. 1:22) and had been promised signs (Psalms 72:18). The "tongue" gifts of Acts 2:6-11 are vastly different from the useless, false, so-called sign gifts that produce only "confusion." No healing "aprons" to Timothy (I Tim. 5:22) but a "no water, little wine prescription." The free-gift aspect of Grace is further seen in Romans 5:15-16. Mankind has been acquitted! Sin is no longer the issue between God and man. A free gift has been imposed between God and man's guilt. Religious, natural man will not have this "gift of Grace." He will not believe that the only issue between God and mankind today is one of ''the Son," not sins. THE ONLY ISSUE BETWEEN GOD AND MANKIND TODAY IS ONE OF "THE SON," NOT SINS. DO YOU HAVE THE SON?

Right here confusion arises. Man has not been under the judicial judgment of God these many, weary centuries, so he wonders if God speaks at all. If he "acts" - not seeking an answer in the Scriptures - he draws conclusions from natural religion. That God should deal in free grace alone NOW (in view of Israel's complete deflection at the end of the Acts period) comes as a complete surprise to many! To those who would dictate "how" God must act. it comes with dismay and, needless to say, hatred to the dispensationalist! Have you "amened" the "free-gift" of God's grace? Have you taken God at His word when He states so clearly that "Christ died for your sins?" God has fully accepted the work He gave His Son to do. He desires to accept (en-grace) you with all the acceptableness of "the Beloved" (Eph. 1:6).

Romans 6:23 is a very fitting place to close this portion of this study. "The wages of sin is death - but the Free gift (charisma) of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."

Experiencing Peace In Threatening Times

I saw a throne standing in heaven, and One was sitting on the throne. - Revelation 4:2
by Steve McVey

American baby boomers are living in greater threatening times than any of us have seen in our lifetime. We are losing our jobs, seeing our retirement funds disappear, watching our homes go into foreclosure, wondering about the threat of terrorism against us, and being told that things will probably get worse before they get better.

We've been told all our lives that Christians can experience peace in the midst of the storm, but now that we're here that statement becomes more than a pious platitude. We've always believed it's true, but the question is, "How do we experience that peace?" The answers are in understanding that God is on His throne and resting in the truth about Him.

1. God is in charge. Sometimes we have to get back to basics. The greatest fundamental truth that will give you peace during these turbulent days is that God is real and He is in complete control of this world. Things aren't just happening. A Sovereign God is working out His eternal purposes within this tiny box we call time. History really is His story and He is working out the plot in this world one day at a time. The story has a happy ending and we need to remember that when we are living through some of the scary scenes in this eternal drama.

2. God is your Father and loves you dearly. This omnipotent God isn't indifferent toward your circumstances. He adores you and cares about your life more than you can possibly imagine. Sometimes our circumstances could lead us to believe that God doesn't care, but don't fall for that lie. He does care about you and won't abandon you in your trials.

3. Your Father is always superintending the details of your life. Whatever unfolds in your life, you can be assured that God is directing the details. He knows about your job security, you bills, your family, and your financial balance. This is a time when trusting Him is the only way you're going to get through this without falling apart emotionally. Choose to believe that He is guiding your steps.

4. You can trust Him regardless of what happens. None of us know the future. Committed Christians have already lost their jobs. Some have lost their homes. Many have seen their retirement accounts dissolve. Our God isn't Santa Claus, so you may not get what you want but you can be assured that our loving heavenly Father will be with you and will lead you forward one step at a time regardless of how things turn out. Your life source isn't found in the external, but in the Eternal. Remember that when times are scary.

These four statements sound simple, but they are profound. Read them again. Affirm their truth. Embrace them as the basis for your approach to life in these uncertain days. You can experience peace in the midst of threatening circumstances because Jesus doesn't just give you peace. He is your peace. Trust Him and you can know peace no matter what happens around you.

The Word of God is so needed in our world today, especially in our own USA, if this devotion has been a blessing and encouragement to you, pass it on to a friend.

FOR THE LORD JESUS

Just be thankful....for what you got.....
1 Thessalonians 5:18

Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.

We have so much to be truly thankful for in this country and in this life we have as Christians. My heart has been reminded that thanks is to be given every single day and every single moment of our lives. With all that God has done for us, there should not be a moment which passes where we don't offer up thanks to our Lord and Savior for what He has done for us.
Paul urges us to be thankful in every situation and circumstance we encounter. Yes, even the tough situations? Why? Because we can truly see God at work in all things, even if we have to wait to realize what He has done through our trials. Since He is always at work in our lives, He so much deserves constant and consistent praise and adoration from His Children. Don't you agree? How could He deserve anything less?
The clock is still ticking.....God has and is still blessing.....So where is our daily thankfulness to Him?

IF I'D NEVER HAD A PROBLEM, I'D NEVER KNOW THAT HE COULD SOLVE THEM.  I'D NEVER KNOW WHAT FAITH IN GOD CAN DO.  Phi 2:13  For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of [his] good pleasure.

FREEDOM'S FOUNDATION
 By Miles Sanford

"I have been crucified with Christ, and I myself no longer live" (Gal. 2:20, Wms.).

Upon conversion, the new believer feels that every opposition to a joyous, fruitful Christian life has been overcome once for all. Later, when the world and self begin to insinuate themselves once again, he thinks that determination and self-effort will keep him free. Finally, after a seemingly endless struggle, the defeated believer is brought back to the Cross. Here is the source of liberation from the power of self and the  world.

"Sinners are not saved until they trust the Saviour, and saints are not delivered until they trust the Deliverer. God has made both possible through the Cross of His Son." ---L.S.C.

"The believer can never overcome the 'old man' even by the power of' the 'new' apart from the work of the Cross, and therefore the death of Christ is indispensable, and unless the Cross is made the basis upon which he overcomes the 'old nature,' he only drops into another form of morality; in other words, he is seeking by self-effort to overcome sin and self, and the struggle is a hopeless one." - C.U.

"Just as the Lord Jesus came into this world where this old humanity was and came into it not to ally Himself with it but to take it into death by the Cross, even so He now by the Holy Spirit, in regeneration, comes into us where there is this old fallen life and not to ally Himself with it, but to hold it in the place of death by the same means - His Cross." - N.D.

"But may it never be mine to boast of anything but the Cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me and I to the world!" (Gal. 6:14, Wms.).

OF HIM ARE YE IN CHRIST
By Russell Miller

Scripture Reading: I Corinthians 1:30

To be out of Adam and "in Christ" is a very marvelous thing. No human effort or merit could accomplish such a thing. But the Lord Jesus Christ, through His finished work of redemption, has reversed what the devil through Adam wrought for mankind. The Bible plainly describes what we were in Adam and how "the works of the flesh" degrade his descendants.

"For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost" (Tit. 3:3-5).

In what Christ accomplished is our position and standing "in Him", and instead of sin and unbelief Paul declares: "But of Him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness and sanctification. and redemption" (I Cor. 1:30).

Praise the Lord. Now, by the grace of God, we may enter the presence of God's holiness without fear, for His wrath was poured out against sin upon His Son. This glorious position by virtue of just simply being "in Christ" is ours to enjoy forever. What a wonderful Saviour is Jesus my Lord!  May we never lose sight of it, nor what He did for us on that cruel cross.

"That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord" (I Cor. 1:31).

Eph 3:9 And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ

Real integrity stays in place whether the test is adversity or prosperity.

Distressing Times
by Steve McVey

I remember a few years ago standing on the border at the DMZ between South and North Korea. At the time, it was said that the most tense environment on the planet was that very spot. Signs warned us to stay in our car because landmines were sprinkled all along the side of the road driving toward the border. Soldiers stood there on the borderline at rapt attention, staring each other down with hatred in their eyes.

In some ways, I feel like the whole globe senses that kind of tension these days. The antagonism that exists between nations of the world and the growing ability for global destruction through nuclear power looms over us. The worldwide economic crisis has already impacted almost every one of us. Chances are very likely that if you aren't losing your job or your house, you know somebody who is. I don't remember a period in my lifetime when the world seemed more volatile. If you are confident about what the world will look like in five years, you're way out ahead of me because I can't begin to imagine.

What is the answer during these distressing times? It all comes back down to the foundational truth in the first four words of the Bible. "In the beginning God" says Genesis 1:1. The word "God" in the verse is the Hebrew name Elohiym. The word is plural and means, "rulers, judges, divine ones." The word points to the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

During these difficult days, remember that there is an Eternal Godhead who has joined Himself to us to guide us through the challenging affairs of this world. All of my life I've heard preachers tell how things would get worse before the end and now that things are getting much worse, many of these same Christians act horrified by world events, as if they can't understand what is happening or why it is happening.

The answer is clear: It is happening because our Sovereign God is working out all things to complete His unfolding plan for the ages. There is a God who oversees every detail of this world. Things don't randomly happen. The same God who was "in the beginning" is the Ever-Present Ruler of all things even now. He is the Alpha (the beginning) and the Omega (the end) and everything in between.

It's normal to feel pain and express grief in distressing times, but in the midst of our feelings we can hold onto our God by faith. Not only does He have global events under control, but He also has the details of your life under control. Your job; your mortgage; your retirement account; your health; your future is all in His control. So trust Him even though you can't see what's ahead.

In the beginning, God. In the end, God. In the meantime, God. If our God is loving as we have always professed Him to be (and He is) and if He is all-powerful as we have always professed Him to be (and He is), then we can cling to Him now, knowing that whatever might happen in our world, our country, our family, or our individual life is okay. Not a sparrow falls to the ground without His supervision. So you can be sure that you have nothing to fear.

Feelings rise and fall, based on external stimuli. Faith remains steadfast, based on the eternal goodness of power of the One who holds us in His hand. So, when you're scared, look to Him. When you're confused, look to Him. When life makes no sense and you don't know what to do, look to Him. He will see us through.

"KNOWN UNTO GOD ARE ALL HIS WAYS"
He knows from the beginning!
He moves forward to a purposed point and a glorious goal.
Man often fails to finish what he begins,
but God never begins what He does not finish.

THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF CHRIST IN HIS ASCENSION
Part 2 of 2
by ~ Jack Trumm ~

So then, what does his ascension mean for us? First, we must understand that no man ascended into heaven before our Lord. "And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven." (John 3:13) Seeing then that our Lord has ascended back into heaven, we too know that we will take part in this same ascension. Paul, the apostle to the Gentiles, tells us in II Corinthians 5:1-8, "For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven: If so be that being clothed we shall not be found naked For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life. Now he that hath wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit. Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord: (For we walk by faith, not by sight:) We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord."  From this passage of scripture, we know that if our earthly house (that is our body) of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens; and we also know that if we are absent from our body we are present with the Lord. Now in order to be with the Lord, (and he is ascended into heaven) then we too must ascend into heaven to be with Him. We know also from this passage that Paul is speaking of our soul and our spirit. So this then brings up the question, what about our body? What will happen to our body? Will it forever remain in the grave? Or will it rise up (ascend) from the grave? I Corinthians 15 : 51-52 says, "Behold I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed." Also in I Thessalonians 4:13-18 it reads, " But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first; Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words."

So, we can see from these two passages that our bodies will rise up from the grave and ascend into heaven to be with the Lord forever. With all of this being said, this poses another question. To whom will this happen? Romans 3:22, says "Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference." Also in I Timothy 4:10, "For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Savior of all men, specially of those that believe.

This wonderful gift of salvation is offered to everyone; but, it is given only to those that believe. Believe what?

1. Believe God concerning our need. The holy, righteous standard for everlasting life is the righteousness of Jesus Christ, and we all come short of that. God has concluded all in unbelief and thru Paul says: "There is none righteous, no, not one. There is none that under
standeth, there is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable, there is none that doeth good, no, not one. Their throat is an open sepulcher, with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips: whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness. Their feet are swift to shed blood. Destruction and misery are in their ways, and the way of peace have they not known. There is no fear of God before their eyes. " (Romans 3:10-18)

2. Believe that Jesus's death and burial paid in full the penalty for sin. "Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation" (Romans 3:25). "blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross." "having made peace through the blood of his cross" "In the body of his flesh through death, to resent you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight." Colossians 1 :20, 22, 2:14)

The religious world would tell us we have to work for our salvation, but God's word says in Titus 3:5, "Not by works of righteousness which we have done but according to his mercy he saved us by the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Ghost." Also in Romans 4:5, "But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness." And in Ephesians 2:8-9, it tells us, "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God. Not of works, lest any man should boast."

So then with all of this being said, I would ask the reader, to whom or to what are you putting your trust for salvation? If it is in your efforts that you are relying on, or your own righteousness, you will come short because in Romans 3:21-24, Paul declares that Jesus Christ is the only righteous one and we all come short of it. But His death through shedding His blood justifies us freely, today, by His Grace. "But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets, even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe, for there is no difference. For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God, being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus."

So this again leaves us with one option, we must put our faith (or belief) in the five events of the cross of Christ. Have you done that? What better time than now. II Corinthians 6:2 says, "For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation."

The Spirit of God uses the Word of God to change the people of God.ODB

THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF CHRIST IN HIS ASCENSION
Part 1 of 2
by ~ Jack Trumm ~

The ascension of our Lord Jesus Christ into heaven is the final event of his fulfilling all righteousness on our behalf, from His:

1. Death on the cross
2. The shedding of His blood
3, His burial
4. His resurrection
5. His ascension

As we have seen what the previous four events have meant for all of mankind, let us review what our Lord's passion has done for us.

1. His death (He died our spiritual death) Romans 5:8 says, "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."

2. His shed blood (cleanses us from all unrighteousness) Romans 5:9 says, "Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him." In Ephesians 1:7 we read, "In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace. And Colossians 1:14 says, "In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins.

3. His burial (our sin nature, or our old adamic nature was buried with him.) Romans 6:4 it says., "Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should ~walk in newness of life." And Colossians 2:12. "··Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling."

4. His resurrection (God regards us as being just or innocent, free, or being made righteous.) Romans 4:25 says, "Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification."

So this brings us to the final event of our Lord giving of Himself on our behalf, His ascension into heaven. Let's ask ourselves a few questions:

1. What does the word ascension mean?
2. How do we know our Lord ascended?
3. What does his ascension mean for us?

First. let's look at the word ascension or (ascend). What does the word mean, according to the Strong's Concordance? It means "to go up, arise, come up". So when we speak of our Lord's ascension, we are speaking of him ascending or going back up to heaven after his resurrection. So this brings up the second question. How do we know that our Lord ascended back into heaven? "And he led them out as far as to Bethany, and he lifted up his hands, and blessed them. And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven." (Luke 24:50-51) "And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven." (Acts 1:9-11) "Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things." (Ephesians 4:9-10)

GraceNTheTruth@ COX.NET~OUR ASSURANCES UNDER GRACE - Page 15 ISAIAH_9..6
THE SON OF A VIRGIN
  by Russell S. Miller

In the Book of Leviticus God revealed to Moses how that life itself is in the chemistry of the blood; and that only "blood" can atone for sin:
"For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I [the Lord] have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul" (Lev.17:11).
The blood of Old Testament animal sacrifices, however, could not reconcile God and man, as the Apostle Paul says: "For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins. But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year. For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins" (Hebrews 10:2-4).
This is where the Son of God enters the stream of humanity, and Mary is the real mother of the humanity of Christ, and a true descendant of David, whom God used to bring His Son into the world to save sinners. As Isaiah the prophet predicted: "Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call His name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us." This is the quote in Matthew 1:23 concerning "the birth of Jesus Christ." But how can a "virgin" give birth to a child? This is a total impossibility with man, but God is not bound with man's impossibilities:
"Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God" (Luke 1:34,35).
Consequently none of Adam's tainted and sinful blood was coursing through His veins. The blood of Jesus Christ was divine. The Lord Jesus Christ did not inherit that old Adamic nature. There was no sin in Him, not a chance! And what we could not do because of the corruption that Adam's sin brought upon mankind, Christ accomplished through "the blood of His cross" (Col.1:20). Thus the blood of Christ is efficacious to save us from our sins, as the many references in the Epistles of Saint Paul declare:
"In whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace" (Eph.1:7).
"But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ" (Eph.2:13).
And in Hebrews, Chapter Ten, Paul writes these words concerning the perfect humanity of the Lord Jesus Christ, His deity, and virgin birth:
"But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, SAT DOWN ON THE RIGHT HAND OF GOD....For by one offering He hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified" (Heb.10:12,14).
And the Apostle Peter also makes this same declaration:
"Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a Lamb without blemish and without spot" (I Peter 1:18,19).
God simply wants us to believe the Truth of His Word, placing our faith and confidence in what God has said about His Son, and upon believing, God's Word declares that He will save us for time and eternity. It's simply a matter of believing on the Lord Jesus Christ alone.

Get off the Christmas merry-go-round and take the time to treasure what's important here, and what it means for  you. God became a man; that we, who are the sons of men, might become the sons of God. Amazing!— Bob Gass

Things Hid
Part 3 of 3
By John D. LaVier

The Saints Hid

In the opening verses of Colossians 3 the apostle reminds the saints of their exalted position in Christ. Having died with Him, and been raised with Him, and seated with Him, they are now to be done with the things of earth and to set their affection on things above. We read: "For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God." The believer is to reckon himself as dead to sin, but alive unto God; as dead to self, but alive to Christ; as dead to the world, but alive to the things of heaven.

A most blessed statement is found in this verse: "Hid with Christ in God." Christ is hid, and the saints are hid with Him. Hid in God; what a safe hiding place. The storms of life may buffet us, but we will not fear, for we are hid with Christ in God. The enemy of our soul may threaten us, but he will not prevail, for we are hid with Christ in God. In all these things we are more than conquerors, for we are hid with Christ in God. What a place of blissful nearness; hid with Christ in the heart of the Eternal One, the object of His love, the child of His care.

The saints are hid with Christ. It is not surprising then if they go unrecognized by the world. John wrote: "The world knoweth us not, because it knew Him not. Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be." The pilgrims of faith wear but humble garb, and veiled is their high degree. We are hid with Christ, be we are waiting. We are waiting for God's Son from heaven, and for the manifestation of the sons of God. "When Christ, who is our life, is manifested, then shall we also with Him be manifested in glory." Our bodies of humiliation will be exchanged for bodies of glory. As we have borne the image of the earthy so shall we then bear the image of the heavenly. We shall be conformed to the image of Christ. We shall be like Him, in His likeness. Then it will be seen by all that we are indeed the sons of God, and heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ.

We went into a friend's home one wintry day to observe a miracle of nature. On one of his walks through the woods this friend had picked up a cocoon, and had hung it up on a kitchen wall. That cold morning he called us in to see what had happened. The cocoon had opened up, and from out of it had come a beautiful moth. As we looked at the ugly cocoon, and than at the beautiful thing which had emerged from it, the thought came, we Christians are now in the cocoon stage, but some day we are coming out. We will be manifested to a wondering world. How that fragile creature got out of that tough cocoon, I do not know, but at God's time it came out. The time is coming when the graves will be opened, when the power of death will be broken, when every redeemed child of God will soar away yonder to appear with Christ the Head in matchless, marvelous, fadeless glory.

This article was written by Pastor John LaVier back in January of 1955. We are thankful for the faithful ministry of this dear saint of God who went home to be with the Lord in September, 2005.

Generous Father, you have blessed me with so many rich and
wonderful gifts. I can never ever adequately express to you the
thanks you deserve. One thing I want you to know, dear Father, is
that I especially appreciate the way you have treated me with grace
and that my life is hid with Christ in God. And when Christ, who is our life,
shall appear, then shall we appear with Him. Amen and Amen.
In Him, Paris

Things Hid
Part 2 of 3
By John D. LaVier

God's Treasures Hid

Men who have valuable possessions usually seek a safe place in which to hide them. God has a safe place in which to hide His treasures. That place is in His own dear Son. The Lord Jesus Christ is the jewel box in Whom are hid all the rare treasures of the Godhead, for the Word declares: "In Him are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge" (Colossians 2:3).

"All the treasures of wisdom and knowledge!" Who can declare their value? The hymn writer put it:
Precious, more precious;
Wealth that can never be told;
O, the unsearchable riches of Christ!
Precious, more precious than gold.

In his epistle to the Romans the inspired apostle wonderingly cries out: "O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God!" And these riches are all in Christ. All the treasures, all the riches, all the "pleroma" (fullness) of the Godhead resided "in Him."

How blessed the two little words "in Him," which occur so often. Everything of any value is "in Him." We read in Colossians 1:19, "For it pleased the Father that in Him should all fullness dwell." The words "the Father" are in italics, and have been supplied. If any words should be added it should be the words "the Godhead," or as the marginal reading puts it, "For in Him all the fullness of the Godhead was pleased to dwell."

In Colossians 2:9 a similar expression is found: "For in Him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily." Then follows a tremendous statement: "And ye are complete in Him." There are two great teachings presented in Colossians: (a) All the fullness of the Godhead is "in Him." (b) The saints are made full "in Him." There is nothing we need which is not to be found in Him, for in Him are hid all the Divine treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

Christ is heaven's treasure chest. All is hidden away in Him, and there is a sense in which He also is hidden. He is the hidden Christ. All during Old Testament times He was hidden. Then He was hidden in the womb of the virgin. After His birth He was hidden in Egypt. Returning to the land He was hidden in Nazareth, with one brief glimpse of Him as a boy of twelve. Then He was crucified, and for three days and three nights He was hid in the heart of the earth. But God raised Him from the dead, and He went back into heaven. Now for almost two thousand years He has been hidden beyond the blue, discernible only to faith's eye.

Some day Christ will be hid no longer. He will be revealed from heaven: The Revelation of Jesus Christ! That is the title of the last book in the Bible. First, though, he will reveal Himself to His own, as He calls them home to be forever with Himself. Then He shall be revealed to all the world. Every eye shall see Him. All shall perceive and know that He is the Incarnate Wisdom of God, that all the treasures of the Godhead, all the deep and precious treasures of wisdom and knowledge, are hid in Him. Then every knee shall bow before Him; His name shall be exalted; His praise shall be on every lip. Then shall be days of heaven upon earth. Lord Jesus, haste the day!

Dear God of faithfulness, how delightful to realize that my persistence of faith in You hinges on Your faithfulness toward me. I see that I can continue to depend upon You, because you are fully faithful to me. What expectation this gives me as I consider Your great promises! You will be faithful to fulfill every one of them, as I place my trust in You! Amen Paris

Things Hid
Part 1 of 3
By John D. LaVier

The wise man of the Old Testament declared: "It is the glory of God to conceal a thing" (Proverbs 25:2). God seemingly delights to hide something away and then in His own time to bring that thing out of its hiding place, manifesting it to His amazed and wondering creatures, and thus bring glory to Himself.

"It is the glory of God to conceal a thing." With the words of this text in mind, let us turn to the book of Colossians and notice in each of the first three chapters some things which have been hid.

The Mystery Hid

In Colossians 1:26 the Apostle Paul refers to the dispensation given to him by God; "even the mystery which hath been hid." What was this mystery which had been hid? It was the dispensation given to Paul, the dispensation of grace, during which God is saving sinners by grace, through faith in the crucified and resurrected Saviour, and making them members of the Church, the Body of Christ.

The word "mystery" is used in the Scriptures in regard to many things. For example, we read of the mystery of Israel's blindness during this age (Romans 11:25); the mystery of the Church as being a joint-body composed of Jews and Gentiles (Ephesians 3:6); the mystery of the indwelling Christ (Colossians 1:27); the mystery of the vital union between Christ and the members of His Body (Ephesians 5:32); and the mystery of the translation of living believers at the end of the age (1 Corinthians 15:51). However, we need to take care lest we reduce the mystery to a mere feature of it. The foregoing are but various phases of the mystery. The mystery proper is the dispensation, the dispensation of the mystery.

Some years ago we were in the scenic state of Colorado. As we stood one day on the top of Mount Evans, we could see the mighty snow-capped peaks rearing their heads toward heaven, and we could also see other mountain ranges farther beyond, but we could not see the long valley between. It was hid from our view. So it was with the prophets of old. They saw two great prophetic mountain peaks: the first coming of Christ as the suffering Messiah, and the second coming of Christ as the reigning Messiah, but they did not see the valley in between. That valley was the dispensation of grace. It was hid from their view.

This present dispensation and all of God's purposes in it, having to do with the calling out of the Body of Christ and its glorious character and destiny, is the mystery that was hid. It was hid, not in the Scriptures, but in the mind and heart of God. Israel's prophets knew nothing about it, nor did Christ as the minister of the circumcision make it known when He was here upon earth. It was not until Israel had been set aside that God made the mystery known through the Apostle Paul.

All of God's purposes for the world had been connected with the nation Israel. But Israel rejected Christ in the days of His flesh, then refused the call to repentance, and blasphemed the Holy Ghost. It must then have appeared that the purposes of the Almighty had been defeated, but then it was that the manifold (many-sided) wisdom of God was made known. Then God revealed through Paul the fact that He had a secret purpose. He had foreseen Israel's rejection of the Christ, and had foreordained that Israel likewise should be rejected, and that during their rejection He would dispense grace to all the world, and bring to completion His glorious Church. Now the secret is out; no longer hid. Now we are commanded "to make all men see what is the dispensation of the mystery" (Ephesians 3:9).

"ACCEPTED"
  by C. R. Stam

In Ephesians 1:6 the Apostle Paul sings a doxology, as it were, "to the praise of the glory of God's grace, wherein He hath made us accepted in the Beloved".

In the story of the Prodigal Son it is touching to see the father accept his wayward son back to his bosom --- and so generously! He does not merely admit him back into his home; he clothes him with his best robe, puts a ring on his hand, shoes on his feet and kills for him the fatted calf so that they call all to "eat and be merry" in celebration of his return.

But the prodigal was after all the father's son, whereas Paul bids us "Gentiles in the flesh" to remember that originally we were "without Christ...aliens from the commonwealth of Israel...strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world" (Eph.2:12).

Hence it is even more touching to contemplate God's gracious acceptance of us who were not sons but "aliens" and "enemies" (Col.1:21).

The word "accepted" in the above passage actually comes from the word "grace" (Gr. karis) with which the verse begins: "...His grace, wherein He hath engraced us in the Beloved One".

Thus God looks upon us now with delight; He delights to favor and bless the believer because He sees him in Christ, His beloved Son.

This passage reminds us how God once broke through the heavens to declare: "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased" (Matt.3:17). And now He is delighted with us and blesses us with "all spiritual blessings in the heavenlies" because we are in Christ, the "Beloved Son". Not that we have attained to this position, far from it, for "HE hath MADE us accepted" --- HE hath engraced us in the Beloved.

Oh for the riches we have in the Lord Jesus Christ!
Thank you Lord for saving me, who was so unworthy.

"The Power of His Might" *
*Part 3 of 4
BY RICHARD JORDAN

It is Col. 2: 10 that matches Eph. 1:21,22--not Col. 1:18. At this point
perhaps we should examine Col. 1:16-18, for these verses hold the key to
how Christ's headship over the heavenly government is for our advantage.

"For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in
earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones or dominions, or
principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
"And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.
"And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the
firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence."

It is God's intention that Jesus Christ have the preeminence in "all
things." Once again, the context of Col. 1: 16-18 clearly defines the
"all things" being spoken of as those things identified in verse 16
--the positions of government created by Jesus Christ in heaven and
earth. These are the "all things" that are to be "reconciled" in Col. 1:
20. 2 The reference is to the future restoration of the system of
government originally established over heaven and earth.

It is clear from the prophetic program that Jesus Christ was to be head
of" all things" in the earth. When He sits on "the throne of His glory"
and reigns from Jerusalem, He will be "King of Kings" and "all nations
shall serve Him." What was unknown until the revelation of the mystery
was that He also had a plan to reclaim His position in the heavenlies.

>From Genesis 1:2 until the raising up of the Apostle Paul, the issue
in the program of God was the earth. Now with the revelation of the
mystery, the heavenly places have become the focus. God will restore the
earth to Himself through the nation Israel; the heavenly places through
the Body of Christ. Then Christ will be head of "all things." This is
what Eph. 1:9-10 looks to:

"Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his
good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:
"That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather
together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and
which are in earth; even in him."

In order for Christ to be preeminent in "all things," He needed the Body
of Christ. Israel would be His agency to reclaim the government of the
earth. But He would need a "new creature" a "new man "--to extend His
reign into the heavenly places. Thus Christ has been made "head over the
body"--"that in all things he might have the preeminence. "

Without the Body of Christ He could never reclaim "all" things. Thus
Christ has been made "head over all things to the church" that is, to
the advantage of the church, for the church is "His body, the fulness of
him that filleth all in all"

In other words, it will be members of the Body of Christ whom He will
use to fill up the positions of governmental authority in the heavenly
places and through whom He will carry out the rule and business of His
"heavenly kingdom" (II Tim. 4: 18).

What a position is ours! What power and authority has been exercised in
our behalf! And it is in this power that we are to stand fast. **

The ministry of "Grace and The Truth" has the purpose of encouraging

fulness of Christ:"

OUR COMMISSION IN AGE OF GRACE IS:

2Co 5:16-21Â Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea,
though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we
[him] no more. Therefore if any man [be] in Christ, [he is] a new
creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become
new. And all things [are] of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by

wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not

"The Power of His Might"
Part 4 of 4
BY RICHARD JORDAN

WHY IT IS NEEDED

Our need for being strong in this power of His might goes much deeper than simply the momentary difficulties and vicissitudes of life. Consider Eph. 3:9,10.

"And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ:

"TO THE INTENT THAT NOW UNTO THE PRINCIPALITIES AND POWERS IN HEAVENLY PLACES MIGHT BE KNOWN BY THE CHURCH THE MANIFOLD WISDOM OF GOD,"

You see, as we make known "the fellowship of the mystery"--as Body truth works in our lives--we manifest unto the angelic beings currently filling the positions of principalities and powers in the heavenly places the manifold wisdom of God in reconciling even those positions back under His authority through Christ. And what is that "manifold wisdom "? I Cor. 2:6·8 tells us:

"Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought:

"But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:

"WHICH NONE OF THE PRINCES OF THIS WORLD KNEW: FOR HAD THEY KNOWN IT, THEY WOULD NOT HAVE CRUCIFIED THE LORD OF GLORY."

Simply by keeping a secret about what He would accomplish through the cross-work of Jesus Christ, God "spoiled principality and power" and "made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it" (Col. 2: 15).

At Calvary God took the wise in his own craftiness! In the face of Satan's boasted "wisdom" all God had to do was keep a secret and Satan fooled himself into doing the very thing that resulted in assuring his doom.

Is there any wonder why Satan hates the truth of the mystery so? Is there any question that he would oppose those who proclaim it to others? Thus Paul says,

"----BE STRONG IN THE LORD, AND IN THE POWER OF HIS MIGHT."

Our strength is in what God had done in Christ. It is this message of grace and glory Satan so bitterly hates. Yet this is the very truth that makes us strong as we rest by faith in who God has made us in Christ. It is this message we are privileged to cherish, to guard, to proclaim and with which to fill our lives.

Faith sees the invisible, believes the incredible and receives the impossible. -- unknown
