Forgiveness of sins

1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us 
our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Just a few minutes back a brother in a Whatsapp group felt guilty of not 
listening to the Lord's voice and asked for prayers so that he receives 
God forgiveness. I encouraged him and then I sat to pray to ask for 
today's message and I received this.

If we go into the Greek words and syntax of the scripture the word 
translated as confess means to gather and account. It means I cannot 
chose some and leave some. I cannot be of the mind that I account for 
some and continue in others. True confessing requires me to completely 
account for everything which I am aware of as wrong.

The Greek word translated as forgive means to 'write off' or 'send 
away'. Have we sinned, and how much we have sinned, all this is 
accounted the day we exit this world. We can sin as much we like but if 
we die in our sins then we had it. For an unbeliever his or her sins are 
that which he or she suffers in Hell. We should be aware the more we sin 
the more difficult it is to come out of the nature to sin, thus the soon 
we can we should.

The Greek word translated as forgive as stated here, and also in the 
prayer Our Father is written in Aorist tense. Unlike in English language 
this tense is past, present and future put together. That means when we 
believe in the sacrifice of the Lord Jesus Christ all our sins which we 
have committed, we commit and which we will commit, are all written off. 
It means on Judgment Day God will not account us our sins.

Does that mean we as Christians can sin as much we want?

Bible says we cannot bring down the value of the Lord's sacrifice by 
continuing in our sins. The Lord is slow to anger which means He does 
not shut His eyes to our sins but give us time to overcome them. 
Understand we as Christians are called not to fight sins but fight the 
sin nature. We are called to overcome the nature that leads us to sin 
not only in ourselves but also help others to do so. On Judgment day if 
we are found to have been battling doing it (when we died) we will be 
given the Righteousness of the Lord Jesus Christ (the Bridal dress) and 
thus enabled to enter Heaven. So as Christians we are called to always 
be in a spiritual battle within ourselves and at the same time support 
others to do the same. We should remember we are already forgiven 
provided we make efforts to overcome.

Lord You are a Holy God and nothing unholy can exist before You. When 
You created man You Lord knew man would sin and You allowed man to sin 
but You made a way for him to overcome the sin nature and be a light to 
the darkness and overcome it. You made man to be an overcomer and as man 
You showed us how to overcome. Lord, we know we will overcome for You 
overcame and now your Spirit dwells in us, all we need to do is 
surrender to You and to listen to your voice and not to the voice that 
deceives us into darkness...

Are we called to suffer?

1 Timothy 1:16, 17Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me 
first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to 
them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting. Now unto 
the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and 
glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Among Catholics it is a belief, God punishes with sickness and medical 
problems for one's own sins and for the sins of those entrusted to the 
person, therefore you will find a majority of their priests suffering 
from sicknesses and taking pride in living with them.

Their concept of forgiveness is amusing. They do believe God forgives 
them for their sins but that forgiveness is incomplete therefore they 
have a concept called 'purgatory' where a person who believing person 
forgiven of sins by God goes after death to temporarily suffer for what 
they have been forgiven!

Their lies and hollow belief was exposed in the 15th century when the 
then Pope started giving 'get free tickets' from purgatory to those who 
donated large sums of money to the church for building the grand St. 
Peter's Basilica whichstands majestically today in the Vatican city. 
This event opened the eyes of some people and caused what is today known 
as Reformation Movement and gave birth of the Believer Churches. Even 
today the Catholic Church sells 'indulgence' which is a way to reduce 
the amount of punishment one has to undergo for sins after death in 
purgatory, in form of donations towards Mass or any church related activity.

It is the mistranslation or misunderstanding of words like longsuffering 
in today's message which causes such beliefs. The Greek word translated 
as 'longsuffering' is the word 'makrothumia' it is also translated at 
two places as 'patience'. It is a conjugation of the word 'makrothumos' 
which is a compound of two words 'makros' and 'thumos'. 'Makros' means 
'long' and 'thumos' means a passion like anger, wrath, fierceness, 
indignation etc.. Together they mean 'holding on with great passion' 
same as endurance. This endurance is not from things like sicknesses or 
personal problems but from obstruction and persecution due to one's faith.

Today's message confirms the endurance is to keep the belief in our 
eternal, immortal, invisible, uncorrupt and wise King and God, our Lord 
Jesus Christ in whom we have eternal life.

Lord You are God and from You comes life. Lord You created us to have 
abundance of life, but sin caused us to be cut off from your plans for 
us. Lord we pray we understand that devil has no hold on those who are 
yours and in whom your Spirit dwells. Lord You gave us authority to 
heal, to cast off evil spirits and remove weaknesses. You allow sickness 
but do not take pleasure to see your children suffer from sicknesses; 
You want us to overcome them and have victory over them. We pray we stop 
tolerating sicknesses and problems in our lives and start taking 
authority over them...

The great divider

Hebrew 8:9Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers 
in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of 
Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them 
not, saith the Lord.

We find most new or spiritually growing Christians stumble at this 
divider of the Bible which classifies one section as Old Testament and 
the other New Testament. They stick with the New Testament and do not 
make an attempt to understand the Old Testament.

I could go in lots of theological explanations to show the Word of God 
is One - it is Word of God and not Words of God. But I will use a 
simpler approach by using the language.

The Greek word translated as covenant or testament is the word 
'diatheke' which comes from the word 'diatithemai' which means 'to 
arrange'. If we go deeper this word is a composite word which is a 
combination of 2 words 'dia' which means 'through' and 'tithemi' which 
means 'to set'.

So when we say covenant or testament its actual meaning in the Bible is 
'arrangement'. So Old Testament would mean Old Arrangement and New 
Testament would mean New Arrangement. Now if we read today's message 
with its meaning, it shows new light and better understanding to the 
scripture.

Hebrew 8:9Not according to the arrangement that I made with their 
fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the 
land of Egypt; because they continued not in my arrangement, and I 
regarded them not, saith the Lord.

God made an arrangement and we need to be in agreement and part of that 
arrangement. We do not make anything but abide in that which He has made.

The NT [27 books] is a simplification of the OT [leaving for 1 book of 
the NT - Gospel of John]. Everything that is found in the 26 books, are 
recordings of that which happened, or testimonies, or explanation / 
teaching of the OT. Even the book Revelation is an explanation of 
prophecies given in the OT. Note when Paul taught people about Christ he 
did so from the OT.

Let us mature in spirit and not continue behaving like children. Let us 
understand the Word of God and not fall against the great divider. Let 
us understand the Word of God and not make it Words of God.

Lord You are Almighty God. You Are Who You Are and there is no God other 
than You. Lord in your love You set open the way which was shut and You 
also made available all that was needed to travel the way. Before man 
could not do it so You paid the price for His sins and gave him your 
Spirit who helps us on that way. Lord we pray we abide in your Spirit 
who makes it able for us to abide in the arrangement and receive eternal 
life in You...

To live or die

Philippians 1:22, 23, 24But if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of 
my labour: yet what I shall choose I wot not. For I am in a strait 
betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is 
far better: Nevertheless to abide in the flesh is more needful for you.

This questions is always on the mind of almost all Believers at some 
time or the other, 'what is the use of continuing life, if I am saved by 
my faith then it is better for me to exit this world and sleep in Christ 
to be joined with Him, and dwell with Him eternally when He comes'.

If we know the purpose we are created and God's plans for us then this 
question will not be there before us.

In the Bible the Lord says we are among the few who are chosen from the 
foundation of creation. We are chosen not for our own salvation but also 
to be a medium to save others. There are some among us who are chosen 
for testimony, for even though they believe in Christ and claim to 
follow Him but like Judas these will betray Him for the pleasures of the 
carnal flesh.

The Word of God tells us the Lord has chosen us to bear Fruit and 
witness the Truth. We may live in this world but we are chosen to live 
out of this world separating ourselves from the ways of this world. We 
are called to be light and salt, light of the world by showing it the 
right direction and salt by preserving that which is good. In other 
words we are called to battle evil like soldiers focusing our fight not 
against evil doings but battling its source which is in the spirit; we 
are called for spiritual battle.

In today's message the Lord tells us if we are in the Lord and we die 
today there should be no regret, but if we are alive today to see 
another day we should consider it is a blessing for we are given an 
opportunity to reap more, to do greater things in the Kingdom of God.

Let us see every day as an opportunity to do what we are chosen for from 
the foundation of creation.

Lord You are God and Creator of all that has life in it. You Lord have 
created all things for a purpose and the purpose is to be blessed. It is 
only in You that there is goodness for You alone are good. Lord we pray 
we remember the purpose You have chosen us and which You manifested as 
Son of Man Jesus Christ. We pray we draw people to You as we were drawn 
to You by others. We pray we are blessed in You by being a blessing unto 
others...

Good parents, bad children

2 Kings 8:19 Yet the LORD would not destroy Judah for David his 
servant's sake, as he promised him to give him alway a light, and to his 
children.

Today's scripture talks of the Lord holding back the utter punishment of 
king Jehoram (Joram) for the sake of his promise to his ancestor David.

Jehoram was one of the worse kings of Judah and son of one of the best 
kings of Judah king Jehoshaphat. One may wonder how good parents can 
breed bad children. We see this problem even among Pastors today where 
their children have turned atheist or antichrist. If one looks at Pop 
stars, there are almost famous 10 Pop stars whose parents were Pastors 
and these include names like Alice Cooper, Marcus Mumford and Katy 
Perry; some like Justin Timberlake had grandparent as Pastor. Marcus 
Mumford once told he dislike the word 'Christian' since 'it came with 
lots of baggage' therefore he did not like calling himself a 'Christian'.

One of the greatest problems with Christian parents is wrong 
understanding of love and responsibility. They think love means 
senseless gratification, giving anything and everything including slow 
poison to eat if the child really does insist. They feel God will change 
them and save them over time. Some hold on to testimonies of someone 
whose child did change for good but do not give thought of the many 
which perished.

Bringing up children in way of the ways of the Lord has to be done in 
the early stage not when their minds are already filled with worldly 
desires. Removing thrones and thistles from between crop that is at 
harvest is not advisable. It has to be done at an earlier stage before 
or just after the seeds are sown. The throngs and thistles may not kill 
the crop but will eat up its nourishment and make it less productive.

When the Lord selected Abraham one of the reasons stated was the Lord 
knew Abraham would bring up his children in the ways of the Lord.

I have had Pastors' children contacting me with their spiritual problems 
since the communication between them and their parents was not 
spiritual. They did love their parents but could not speak openly of the 
things concerning the Kingdom of God with them. These doubts may one day 
destroy their faith and set them against the Kingdom of God. Grace comes 
by faith and since faith is not inherited so grace too is not inherited. 
Spiritual blessings are for ever but worldly blessed are not. Worldly 
blessings may be inherited but will not last forever.

Parents understand as Christians you are hated by the ruler of the 
worldly kingdom [not the world, but worldly ways and worldly people]. He 
hates you and wants to make sure by hook or crook he stops you and your 
seeds from inheriting the Kingdom of God. Understand like freedom means 
self-responsibility and not a chance to do as one wills similarly love 
that does not edify is not called love. You are not called to be friends 
with your children, you are to be parent. Let them know they can 
approach and confine in you for anything and everything and for that you 
need to keep discussing various issues at an early stage. God may not 
punish your children or grandchildren for your sake but then they will 
not be blessed because of their wrong doings. This non-interference 
usually leads to greater downfall and characterless people.

Lord You are loving Father. You loved us so much that a part of You 
humbled Himself and became man, to become our sacrifice so that we could 
receive your Spirit and return to You. Lord your love also corrects us 
and builds us; it does not just please us for anything and everything. 
We pray Lord we learn from You and bring up our children in your Ways...

When we are weak, you are strong

2 Corinthians 13:9 For we are glad, when we are weak, and ye are strong: 
and this also we wish, even your perfection.

People have very high expectations of Men or Women of God. They assume 
that if they are led by the Lord then how can they make mistake?

Men and Women of God are not robots or machines but are human beings 
like everyone. They too are made of flesh and bones like everyone and 
also have weaknesses like everyone else. Yes they are led by the Lord 
but their flesh also battles against the spirit like it does in everyone 
else. The only difference is a Man or Woman of God is a person who 
abides more to the spirit and less to the flesh.

Paul had such an experience with the people of Corinth. Paul was at that 
time one of the strongest Man of God, having great knowledge and 
understanding and lacking in no area except one area which became his 
thorn. This one area hindered his acceleration to harvest more souls in 
the Kingdom of God. It was the people of Corinth who highlighted this 
lacking in Paul and caused him to spiritually be shaken so such that it 
manifested in his health. At the end Paul did overcome this thorn and 
realized without the help of the very people who were a nuisance to him 
became a blessing to him.

Spiritual life is like an obstacle race like they have for army 
recruits, where ungodly people or people weak in spirit are the 
obstacles. One does not jump over ever obstacle, some they need to go 
under and some they need to go through. One needs to learn which to go 
over, which to go under and which to go through, if one takes wrong 
approach then one struggles at that obstacle.

The people of Corinth were a strong obstacle for Paul and they taught 
Paul how to overcome his thorn. Paul initially did try the wrong 
approach with the Corinthians and failed but later when he corrected 
himself he went ahead in his spiritual life.

There are times Pastors and ministry leaders detest certain people in 
their church or congregation who become a thorn for them. The Lord is 
telling the Pastors and leaders that because they are weak in some 
spiritual area the Lord has put these strong obstacles in their path. 
They need to learn how to overcome these obstacles and this will help 
them to build their spiritual life. Do not try to break every obstacle 
[rebuke and remove], an approach which they mostly try, for that will 
harm your spiritual life. Some you need to go over [correct them] and 
some go under [correct yourself].

Lord You are Almighty God and nothing is impossible for You. You Lord 
desire we be spiritually strong in You and thus You mold us and help us 
overcome our weaknesses. When we read from your Word and do not correct 
ourselves, You Lord take steps to help us overcome by means of 
obstacles. We pray Lord we understand the need of obstacles and discern 
our way through them. Help us Lord to know when to correct them and when 
to correct ourselves and when to rebuke them and distant ourselves from 
them...

Remembering every word

1 John 2:24,25Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from 
the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall 
remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father. And 
this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life.

Today the Lord is talking to all those Christians who run from preaching 
to preaching, from one Christian program to another, from one evangelist 
to another. He is asking them, what did they hear from those preachers, 
from those evangelists and how much of that is still there inside them.

Tell me if someone gave us precious diamonds, would we just cast them 
away like we have casted away the Word of the Lord which is more 
precious than diamonds!

Also if someone gives us a shining stone saying it is diamond would we 
not go to a qualified authority and confirm if it is a true diamond or 
an imitation?

Similarly if someone gives us a message or understanding saying it is 
from the Lord do we go to the qualified authority which is the Bible and 
confirm if it is according to His Word? Because we do not value the Word 
of God we do not confirm it and thus do not keep it safely in our hearts.

God says today to everyone if His Word is not in us He will not be in us 
and if He is not in us then we do not have the promise of eternal life.

started manifesting in him and mortality came into existence. Lord we

Be not idolaters

1 Corinthians 10:7 Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it 
is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.

Today's message talks of idolatry and it speaks about the incident when 
Moses went up the mount to receive the tablets of Ten Commandments and 
delayed to return so they thought he would not return made Aaron to 
fashion them a god in the form of a calf made of gold (extracted from 
gold ear rings). Scripture says they ate, drank and rose to play. Rose 
to play did not mean they were playing some game but the Hebrew word 
comes from the root word 'to laugh', so it means they had a good time of 
enjoyment like one does in a party. Movies show them as fornicating in 
lust but it wasn't so, they were just enjoying themselves like joking, 
mocking and having fun.

People think ear rings are a women thing, they are mistaken. Ear rings 
was an object of slavery, of oppression. It started with people piercing 
a ring to ear of the slave when they were purchased, later they started 
doing it as devotion towards false gods dedicating themselves as devote 
slaves unto the gods.

In Hebrew words are not assigned to an object or thing senselessly like 
we do in English, the name describes or tell one of the properties of 
the object or thing. The word for cow in Hebrew roots from the word 
which means 'to travel' and the word for calf roots from the word which 
means 'round'.

Cow/ calf were deities which were looked up for worldly prosperity / 
spiritual fertility. Worldly prosperity actually does not lead a person 
anywhere but brings one back to the same point i.e. man desires money 
for security and when he gets money he desires security for his money, 
same with fame, power etc.

Hindus worship the cow because they believe in the cow all gods exist; 
one will notice the root belief of life is Samsara which means 
"cyclicality of all life, matter, existence". They believe in 
incarnation – life, death and rebirth in same or another form. They seek 
moksha / mukti which means release from samsara. They think moksha / 
mukti means being one with the universal spirit but do not realize it 
actually means spiritual death. I confront them with an example of a 
dead body decaying and becoming one with the soil, it no longer exists 
in any form of identity, same with the spirit.

Paul did not address today's message to unbelievers but to believers. 
One may be surprised as to how believers become idolaters. The word 
comes from two words first is 'image' and other is 'to serve', jointly 
it means to serve an inanimate or nonliving object, which can either be 
natural, conceptual or spiritual.

We know of Catholics as idolaters for they made statues or pictures of 
biblical or Catholic Church related characters and they serve them by 
praying to them, burning candles, incense, offering flowers, etc... We 
do not realize even Believers do idolatry. They do not serve natural 
objects but do so to spiritual objects. One of the most common one is 
they have spiritual idol of God. You may be surprised how most fall into 
this category. Take instance of 'prayer' especially those who prayer 
regularly for long hours every day. When they pray they keep repeating 
and repeating their request. They pray as if God is deaf or hard to 
hear, or is dumb God who does not speak. If they were to pray to a 
Living God then their prayer should be a two way communication where 
they wait to listen to God's response. They may be quick to give the 
example of the parable of the widows and the judge but they fail to read 
the last line of the parable where Jesus says 'when the Son of Man 
returns will He find faith?'

Today's message clearly puts idolaters as people who desire worldly 
prosperity or spiritual vanity and thus worship the calf/cow.

Let us not be idolaters thinking life is all about eating, drinking and 
having fun, let us know God made us with purpose and our enjoying life 
in its true fullness will be when we reach our eternal home – Heaven.

Lord You are an Awesome God and Creator. All things living have life 
because of You. But You Lord have given them a choice to choose a live 
of vanity or of abundance. Only in You is life of abundance. Help us 
Lord to understand, this life that we live on earth is a life of 
purpose, and that purpose is what Jesus showed us. Jesus said unless we 
do not take up His Cross [Cause] and follow Him we will not have life in 
Him. Help is to live a life Christ's purpose...

Will Israel wake up?

Romans 11:7 What then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh 
for; but the election hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded 
(According as it is written, God hath given them the spirit of slumber, 
eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear;) unto 
this day.

Some days back a couple returned from a trip to Israel, the so called 
'Holy Land' and they were sharing about all their experience there. They 
told me about the guides that took people around to see the different 
places were mostly Jews and Muslims. These people were taking them to 
places historically connected to Jesus and others in the Bible which 
were like hard evidence, yet these people themselves did not accept the 
evidence as true for they were people who rejected Jesus Christ i.e. a 
Jew / Muslim shows people a tomb where Jesus's body was placed and where 
He resurrected but does not believe He did so.

Many people who spoke to the Jews there privately have stated how they 
hated Jesus and considered Him to be a rebel who protested against the 
Jewish Church and formed a sect called Christians. They believe He was a 
false prophet and is suffering in Hell.

Of late I was distributing Bibles at an exhibit where I interacted with 
many Muslims. They acknowledged Jesus whom they call Isa as a Prophet 
and take His name with reverence yet many did not want to read on His 
life. They stated what is written in their Quran is sufficient for them 
since they have been warned against reading the Bible.

In today's message Paul writes about the Lord giving a spirit of 
slumber. If one checks the Greek word it roots from the word to 'pierce' 
so the word has the meaning 'insensibility or torpor of mind due to 
extreme grief'.

If one reads the history of Israel in the Bible one would understand 
they sought something which they never got. For a short period during 
the time of David they partly got what they sought but later that too 
was taken away. Similarly the Muslims too have a history of violence and 
hatred against them which has caused them to give back in greater 
measure. Thus it does not take even a few words to incite a religious 
Muslim to take up violence against any person, including their very own.

Today's message says since the Israelites are stuck up in their history, 
they have experienced hurt and this hurt has caused them not to see what 
they look at and not to listen to what they hear, in other words their 
spiritual understanding is become numb. God did not put a spirit on them 
but caused their hardened hearts that sought worldly things to come into 
that state.

Many Christians are praying for Jews to turn to Jesus and they believe 
at the end they will. They do not realize at the end not only Jews but 
almost all around the world will accept Christ. The Bible talks of a 
period where the glory of God will be seen across the whole world before 
the falling of faith [false peace].

Let us always remember the Lord is the Lord of the whole world. He is 
not a God of any race nor shows partiality to any. He sees the hearts of 
people and whom He chooses people according their hearts. It is by 
promise (those who believe in His promise) and not by genealogy that 
people inherit His Kingdom. Even though we were not part of Israel we 
were chosen from the foundation of creation. He used people of the 
nation of Israel to reach out to the real Israel [Sons of God / Princes 
of God].

Lord You are God of the whole world. You created the world but choose a 
race to start the work of salvation of all mankind. You said to those 
whom You chose to go out to the whole world and give the Good News. Lord 
let us always remember what is within is greater than that which is in

Trespass offering for sin of uncleanliness

Leviticus 5:6And he shall bring his trespass offering unto the LORD for 
his sin which he hath sinned, a female from the flock, a lamb or a kid 
of the goats, for a sin offering; and the priest shall make an atonement 
for him concerning his sin.

Many may have the question how can God be pleased by a living sacrifice 
that He forgives sins when one kills an innocent animal?

One should be very clear God does not love or remotely desire natural 
sacrifice per say, but desires the act of sacrificing. When one 
understands the graveness of the consequence of one's wrong act and thus 
understand the sacrifice is a substitute for that person wrong.

God in His Word shows great love and concern for each and every living 
creature, so even killing for food the person has to respect the life of 
that creature. Sacrificing an animal was a step to prepare man for 
understanding the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. The first sacrificing of an 
animal was done by God Himself when He clothed Adam and Eve with the 
skin of the animal He killed. Adam saw and passed on this knowledge to 
his sons, that's how Able knew of it.

In today's message the sacrifice specified to be a female goat / sheep 
(ewe) or a little of a sheep or goat. God was specific on this because 
of the nature of the sin for which it was a payment and this was the sin 
uncleanliness.

1) If a person swears (curses) or even is a witness to such an act and 
does not speak out against it both are found guilty of sin of uncleanliness.

2) Touching a carcass (dead body) of an unclean animal or even a rotting 
body of a clean animal that has diseases, or that of creepy animals like 
snakes and lizards, knowingly or unknowingly would make him or her 
guilty of sin of uncleanliness.

3) Touching the uncleanliness of man it may be like waste or diseases 
would qualify one as guilty of this sin of uncleanliness.

4) If a person took an oath (swore) to do evil or even took an oath to 
do good, and did not do it would qualify the person as guilty of the sin 
of uncleanliness the day of coming to know of it.

When a person reads this one may think is God crazy to ask for a life of 
any innocent animal for reasons like these. One may remotely justify for 
the first and last reasons but the second and third reason are beyond 
justification. How can God ask for the life of an animal as substitute 
for the sake of touching something that is defiled?

If one goes by the text one will surely find God to be crazy but when 
one understands it one will realize it has nothing to do with what the 
text says. Understand all life that God created He said it is good. So 
when God called an animal unclean it had nothing to do with the animal 
but to do with the image of which it created it after. This is because 
when God created all things He specified after 'His Kind' and after 
'Their Kind'. Thus all things are naturally clean but what they 
symbolize spiritually is that which is clean or unclean i.e. a pig is 
naturally not unclean but what it symbolizes is unclean and that can be 
studied from the nature of it, which is having no discernment on what it 
consumes. We are spiritually considered pigs when we believe in anything 
and everything without discerning it. This now a days is a very common sin.

God was specific of the sacrificial animal being a female or a little 
one since the female gives birth and the little has a life ahead so 
sacrificing such would symbolize a sacrifice not just for the present 
but also the future. The sacrificial offering for the sin of 
uncleanliness calls us to correct not only what we did but to also make 
sure not to do it ever again.

Our God is concerned about the spiritual life more than the natural, 
since all flesh will die one day but that which is spiritual and in Him 
will live forever.

Now that the eternal sacrifice is already been made we are not called to 
kill any animal. We, who believe in Christ (who is our past, present and 
future) are called to repent for the sin of uncleanliness and take 
refuge in Him.

Lord You are God and You are Spirit. Lord we pray we understand this 
flesh is temporary and a sacrifice of any flesh of animal never pleased 
You. We pray we understand You desire sacrifice of the carnal flesh so 
that the spiritual may live. We pray Lord You open our eyes to all those 
areas where we have wrong and have not repented so that we may repent 
and be made whole...

Purchased by His blood!

Acts 20:28 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, 
over the which the Holy Spirit hath made you overseers, to feed the 
church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.

We read in this verse Paul had gathered all the elders of the Church of 
Asia region to give his final farewell as he journeyed to Jerusalem 
where he knew would encounter something that would lead to his death. He 
tells them they were chosen elders not by man but by the Holy Spirit to 
feed / give nourishment the congregation as in a shepherd does to his 
sheep but then he continues to say 'which He had purchased by His own 
blood'.

Now question is whose blood?

We all know Paul is speaking of the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ but 
we see Paul says in the sentence as blood of God / Holy Spirit.

When we use the word 'blood' we always think of the fluid that runs in 
our body through which we have life. Like I stated before in the NT when 
we study a word (not the grammar or the understanding of the sentence) 
which is concerning the holy things of God we need to go to the Hebrew 
word and not the Greek word since they spoke Hebrew among themselves and 
Aramaic to the people.

The Hebrew word for blood is 'dam' and related to life in man 'Adam' 
(which means 'reddish', who was called so because of the fullness of 
life in him). But the word 'dam' actually comes from the word 'damam' 
which means to be silenced, in sense of losing life and being lifeless. 
Thus many places the word 'blood' referred in the Bible speaks more of 
the sacrifice and not so much of the actual fluid /blood. Thus in 
today's the word blood of God refers to the sacrifice of God which we 
know refers to His Son the Lord Jesus Christ.

So when we come across sentences like 'by the blood of Lord Jesus 
Christ', it does not mean actual blood but means the sacrifice. So also 
sentence like 'covered by the blood' or 'purchased by His blood' means 
'covered by the sacrifice', 'purchased by His sacrifice'.

Sprinkling of the blood seven times on the Ark of Covenant symbolized 
the sacrifice being eternal. That is why in Hebrew 9:12 it speaks of man 
did not obtain redemption by the sacrifice of goats and calves but can 
do so by offering the sacrifice of Jesus Christ which being eternal can 
be offered any time in the present or the future.

Sacrifice came into existence since judgment of God could not be 
cancelled so God taught us that the consequence of the judgment could be 
taken by another for our sake (the first animal sacrifice was done when 
God clothed Adam and Eve). Be it Christianity or any other religion all 
directly or indirectly believe it that is by we have judicial laws which 
have concepts like bail and fines paid with guarantor/s signing it.

Let us understand sacrifice is between man and God and not between any 
other (that is why Jesus became one of us). The blood /sacrifice of 
Jesus Christ protects us only from the wrath of God, thus is holy. Let 
us not abuse it by using it for protection from evil or to protect 
property and animals. For all other protections we are given the Name of 
the Lord Jesus Christ for in His Name all beings created, in Heaven, on 
earth and below the earth have to bend their knees (surrender).

Lord, You are Almighty God and a Righteous God. You Lord will not change 
your ways for man but You made a way for your wrath on sin to be taken 
away by the means of a sacrifice. Lord we pray we understand the deeper 
meaning of a sacrifice and understand the price You paid since You love 
us. Let us also understand the holiness of the sacrifice and not use 
terms live covering objects by your blood / sacrifice or to bind evil. 
Your blood was shed to protect us for your wrath and for all other 
protections your Name is sufficient for in your Name all knees bend...

Bless them who refresh you

2 Timothy 1:17But, when he was in Rome, he sought me out very 
diligently, and found me

The person by the name Onesiphorus is mentioned only this epistle of 
Paul that is his second letter to Timothy but by the tone of the words 
we see Paul was deeply grateful to him and his family.

We may think Onesiphorus and his family may have provided and supported 
Paul in his natural needs or put him up in his house that is why he was 
very grateful to him and his family.

That is not the reason Paul was grateful to him and his family. 
Onesiphorus was from Asia region and the only one mentioned from that 
region. We see he supported and encouraged Paul when Paul was in prison. 
One can know the impact of his support by the fact Paul mentions him 
alone with the couple Prisca and Aquila who were his spiritual guides in 
his early days of ministry. So we see the refreshing Paul refers to is 
spiritual and not earthly like in material needs. Traditions (church 
believes) record Onesiphorus was later the Bishop of Corone (these are 
unconfirmed records).

One of the greatest blessings one can have is to have spiritually mature 
people around you who can refresh you when things are not going right. 
As man when Jesus was disturbed in spirit He had no one to turn to so He 
would isolate Himself and was refreshed by Angels.

Understand every one of us however spiritually strong we are at some 
time or the other will be spiritually disturbed or shaken. At these 
times we should communicate with those around us who are spiritually 
mature. Please do not make the mistake of turning to people who give to 
earthly advices, however wise they may seem to be they will ultimately 
lead us to destruction.

Fellowshipping with spiritually mature people is very critical in one's 
life. They are like trees that give shade when the sun is strong. They 
may not do anything but their presence and words will make a world of 
difference.

Today God is telling us to bless those people like Prisca, Aquila and 
Onesiphorus were in the life of Paul. Let us pray and speak words of 
blessing into their lives and into the lives of their families.

Lord You are Almighty God and there is nothing that is impossible for 
You yet You Lord put people to be means of doing your work in the lives 
of those whom You care. Lord we bless those around us who have been a 
spiritual blessing to us today and in the days of our growing in You. We 
speak provision and protection, favor and abundant, Fruits and Gifts of 
the Spirit in their lives and the lives of their family members...

Foundational understanding

Hebrew 6:1,2 Wherefore leaving the doctrine of the first principles of 
Christ, let us press on unto perfection; not laying again a foundation 
of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, of the teaching 
of baptisms, and [but also] of laying on of hands, and [but also] of 
resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment..

{Translations at places translated the Greek word 'te' [but also / and 
also] as 'kai' [and]}

The foundational belief of Christianity is that salvation is only 
through Jesus Christ, one goes to Heaven only after being baptized in 
Christ and His Spirit, salvation is received by grace through faith and 
not through works and we are called to do good works that is not works 
of righteousness but works of faith which the Spirit God leads us to do 
[do the Will of the Father].

If any person believes in this foundational belief and follows it, is a 
Christian. This is like the constitution of Christianity and everything 
revolves around this belief.

Other than constitutional belief there is a constitutional understanding 
which today's message talks of. This understanding is primary 
foundational understanding which a Christian should have and they are:

Baptism

Laying of hands

Resurrection of the dead

Eternal judgment

Once these foundational understandings are set in place, the person is 
considered a strong Christian for the foundation is strong. Our Church 
suffers and Christians are shaky in their faith only because the 
foundational understandings are not in place. The problem is not only 
with the congregation but also with Church leaders, many of these points 
[almost all in most cases] are not clear also to them.

Let me touch 1 point briefly - Baptism [although a book can be written 
on it]

People think Baptism [Greek baptizo] which means 'being immersed' is all 
about being immersed in water. People do not realized nowhere does God 
tell to immerse people in water, it was one of the traditions of the 
radical Jews [they also had other types of baptisms] which was made 
famous by John the Baptist [therefore called baptism of John]. The 
radical Jews would not just dip but hold the person down in water for a 
short period. John's concentration was not dipping people in water but 
of leading them to repentance [therefore also called baptism of 
repentance].

Jesus was water baptized to fulfill prophecy [He was without sin so He 
did not do it for repentance] and He Himself did not baptize anyone in 
water, but He did not stop His disciples from doing so. We also do not 
read of all Apostles being water baptized but we see the Apostles did 
encourage the people to get water baptized.

Getting water baptized is good sign of declaring one's faith in Christ. 
Water baptism is just the start of one's baptism in Christ since baptism 
is not an incident but a process. In water baptism repentance is more 
important than the dipping in water. Water baptism is like exchanging of 
rings in western Christian marriages [in other countries they do other 
things]. It took the example because baptism in Christ is like marriage 
to Christ and becoming part of the Body of Christ / Family of God.

Similarly other points i.e. laying of hands may seem simple but has 
deeper understandings to them.

Let us build the Church strong by building the foundational 
understandings strong. Let us get our own understandings clear and 
strong so that we do not shake when our faith is tested.

Lord You are Almighty God and You alone are worthy of praise. You Lord 
created this natural world in image of the hidden Heavens. You Lord 
desire we overcome the flesh and this natural world thus desire us to 
worship in spirit and Truth. You gave us Commandments and Statutes but 
asked us to not do them blindly but do them with all understanding. We 
pray Lord we do all things with proper understanding so that we do not 
shake in our faith but be founded on the Rock of Truth...

Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil

1 Corinthians 6:12All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not 
expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under 
the power of any.

In today's message we see Paul uses the justification of all things 
(everything) is lawful to him but all things do not profit. Thought Paul 
uses this statement here with regards to food (dietary) laws and 
addiction but this statement stands for everything including things we 
do or desires. That means anything and everything can be looked at as 
good, this includes the most evil thing can be justified as good some 
way or the other and that is what we see many religions do. Even if it 
is killing if packaged in the right packing, they make it a good thing, 
like killing in name of morality or name of their god/gods.

Even though there are the Ten Commandments and many other Commandments 
that the Lord gave through the Prophets (anything that the Lord tells us 
to do is a Commandment), yet we find Jesus put everything into 2, one 
towards the Lord that is love the Lord with all your heart, all your 
strength and all your understanding, the other to love one another as 
the Lord loved us.

If we look at life actually nothing is bad or evil in itself even Satan 
was created by God and God does not create evil. Everything that God 
created in this world on the sixth period (day) God called it good.

What we need to understand all things in this world are like when we 
make gadgets we pack it with leaflets stating the way it has to be used 
for good results and also a warning if not used properly it could cause 
damage, also some things are to be kept from the reach of children not 
because they are evil but they can cause harm.

Paul states in today message states things are bad or evil if it does 
two things that is, if it does not profit or if it harms like puts one 
into bondage / ties one down. That means anything we do even if it is a 
good thing like praying and if it is not build or prospering us 
spiritually and becomes a bondage that it needs to be done as in like a 
ritual then that kind of praying also is bad. Same is with loving 
someone, if that love does not build the recipient person than it is 
called being possessive, being dominating, controlling and these things 
only harm and destroy the persons (both).

God is called 'Jealous' (Zealous) in the OT. The word in Hebrew actually 
means the relationship of a mother to its child, of being protective and 
caring; it does not in any way mean being envious or jealousy. Similarly 
the other name for the Lord that is 'El-Shaddai' means 'strong breasted 
one', it also refers to the Lord as the one who provides, protects and 
nurtures like a mother.

Bible says in the later days the Lord will put His Law in our hearts 
meaning we will receive the Spirit of Truth and it is the Spirit who 
will help us discern good from evil.

Let us discern everything even if it is packaged with a label 
'Christian' and see if it is not profiting us and is holding us down in 
spirit and flesh as in a bondage then that thing needs to be 
reconsidered and put before the Lord (Holy Spirit) if we need to 
continue or stopped.

Lord, You are God and nothing is hidden from You. You, Lord created man 
in your own image but You also put man to a test for You Lord desire 
free will love. Lord You knew man would fail therefore even before You 
put man to the test You made a way for man to be corrected and return 
back to You, for the Bible says You made available a sacrifice from the 
foundation of creation. We pray Lord we understand all things are good 
and have a purpose, but then all are not good for us and we should know 
what to take and what not to, and as to when and how...

The Angel of the Lord

Acts 5:19 But the angel of the Lord by night opened the prison doors, 
and brought them forth, and said,

Initial days when I was studying scriptures, I read books and heard from 
preachers that there were different armies of Angels in Heaven, there 
was an army of Angels of the Son and there was army of Angels of the 
Father and among these army Angels had ranks. This understanding is 
based of words like we read in today’s scripture which says ‘Angel of 
the Lord’.

As I grew in my understanding with who God is, the relationship between 
the Son, Spirit and Father and what Angels are, I realized all this 
understanding is not true.

Bible says the Lord is the ‘Lord of the Host of Heaven’ it does not 
‘hosts’ but uses the singular word ‘host’. This Army in Heaven is 
divided into two one that dwells on the right hand of the Lord and one 
that dwells on the left hand. Heaven is spirit world so it does not have 
direction or distance in physical sense. The Angels on the right does 
not mean physical right but means righteous side and it is this section 
of the army which the Lord says as His own or as the Angles of the Lord, 
the section of the army on the left or unrighteous side are the fallen 
angels who are already judged and await their punishment.

This picture does not mean God is seated on a Throne and the Angels 
before Him. Understand God is omnipresent and there is no place that 
exists where He is not present. The Throne of God means the place where 
His glory is concentrated. So those who are righteous are near to the 
Throne and those found unrighteous are further away from the Throne. 
Nearer to the Throne is light and further away is darkness (means less 
light, there is nothing like total darkness). When one understands the 
levels of Heaven like Paul said in a vision He was lifted up to the 
third Heaven (no one other Son of Man other than Jesus entered Heaven 
all await Judgment Day to enter, on that day He will return to His glory 
and no longer be Son of Man). The names of the Angles are more connected 
to the mission they are on.

When we understand what awaits us in Heaven and what we will be 
transformed to we will understand all the persecution on earth and all 
the sacrifice we have given or will ever give is nothing to the reward 
that awaits us.

Lord You alone are God and there is none other than You. Lord, You are 
Father, You are Spirit and You are Son, for God is One. You Lord sent 
your Son and gave us your Spirit so that we may be lifted up in You and 
become one with You after we overcome the darkness through your light 
shining in us. Lord we pray we understand the purpose we are created for 
and understand the reward that awaits us in Heaven, so that we take our 
mission here more seriously...

Persistence in the Kingdom of God

Acts 14:23And when they had ordained them elders in every church, and 
had prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord, on whom they 
believed.

When we read this scripture we nice that people fasted and prayed with 
Paula and Barnabas before commending to the Lord. The verse end with ‘on 
whom they believed’. This is because there was a great series of events 
that happened just before this.

When we read from verse 6 we see Paula and Barnabas were preaching and 
while Paul was preaching he noticed a man crippled (could not walk) from 
birth had faith to be healed so Paul commands the healing and the man 
gets healed.

We see after that the people who were worshippers of pagan gods thought 
Barnabas was Jupiter and Paul was Mercury/Hermes (messenger of Jupiter). 
When they bring garlands and animals for sacrifice Paul and Barnabas 
rent their clothes and at the end we see Paul was stoned and thrown out 
of the city thinking he was dead. Paul’s disciples gather around him and 
he gets up and after a period of time Paul and Barnabas return to the 
city. They manage to make great number of disciples and set leaders from 
among them. It is at this time the disciples gather around them and pray 
with them before sending them to continue their mission. That is why it 
is written they had to enforce their faith in God alone.

When difficulties come we see God does greater work and that is why we 
should always trust God alone.

Lord You are Almighty God. For You nothing is impossible but yet You 
alone your people to go through difficulties for out of it You manifest 
greater things. Lord we pray we do not fear when difficulties come but 
trust in You and hope for greater things...

Preaching Christ

Colossians 1:29 Whereunto I also labour, striving according to his 
working, which worketh in me mightily.

Paul states in today's message that he labored in Christ and in the 
previous verses he states how God had blessed him and in verse 28 he 
states what his labor was.

We see the so called preaching of Paul included 2 things:-

1) Warning (i.e. against rejecting the Lord or His Word - salvation is 
not something that can be taken for granted, the dangers of rejecting 
after knowing is worse than being ignorant of it)

2) Teaching (God's Word - that is in understanding it and how to live 
the Word in one's life)

We need to understand this preaching is not part of giving the Gospel 
but comes after giving the Gospel and the steps to giving the Gospel are:-

1) Repentance for one's sinful life

2) Accepting the hope in the Savior

If we put all the steps together we see them as follow:-

1) Repentance

2) Accepting the Savior

3) Warning

4) Teaching

One may think the above 4 steps completes the steps towards being 
Christian - No. In fact these set one towards becoming Christian (start 
to become one). The word Christ means 'anointed one' and contains 2 
elements one is man and other the Holy Spirit so a Christian is one who 
is led by the Holy Spirit. Christianity is about becoming Jesus Christ 
like and none can become Jesus Christ like unless he or she is molded by 
the Holy Spirit.

Many among us keep saying we have received Holy Spirit but yet we live a 
worldly life. We do not realize the word 'qodesh' – 'holy' means being 
separated or concentrated towards things of God (perfection). When we 
say we have the Holy Spirit (the Spirit of God who separates us from the 
world and joins us to Him) then can we still be living a worldly life!

Anyone who has received the Holy Spirit will hate or be uncomfortable 
with living a life of lust, materialistic life, life of vanity etc... If 
we say we have the Holy Spirit or are led by the Holy Spirit and we 
still do what people of the world do then we are fooling others and also 
ourselves.

The Holy Spirit is the ultimate Teacher and as humans we are called not 
to lead others forever but to lead them to being led by the Holy Spirit; 
Jesus who as a man (Son of Man) did just that, then how can we be better 
than Him?

Let us always remember the four steps that bring one to be led by the 
Holy Spirit and become a Christian.

Lord You are a Holy God and in your Word You said 'Be holy for I am 
Holy'. Lord we pray we understand unless we are separated from this 
worldly life we cannot be holy. Help us Lord through your Word to 
overcome the desires of the flesh and of the mind. Help us be led by the 
Spirit who separates us unto You...

Submission to authority

Hebrews 13:19But I beseech you the rather to do this, that I may be 
restored to you the sooner.

We see most Church leaders demand submission and in yesterday's message 
of relationship between husband and wife we see the same case many 
husbands demanding submission of their wife.

If one reads the context of the topic, the writer (supposedly Paul) 
speaks of spiritual leaders (leader of the soul). No one can become a 
spiritual leader; one has to be made a spiritual leader. Every Pastor 
needs to give an account to the Lord for the soul he or she is leading. 
We by default consider the Pastor of the Church to be the spiritual 
leader of the congregation. Even within husband and wife relationship 
the husband is by default the spiritual guide to his family and in the 
natural both husband and wife are equal. But in cases if the wife is 
spiritually more mature than her husband than she needs to take the 
spiritual leadership of the family.

If we go by Biblical terms as in Callings it is the Bishop who heads the 
congregation and he (or she) is the administrative head of the 
congregation. A Pastor can be any person who is a spiritual leader for 
another person. So every Bishop may not be the Pastor of the person in 
his congregation and every Pastor may not be a Bishop but may be an 
Apostle, a Prophet, a Teacher, an Evangelist or even a Healer.

What the Lord is telling us is that when we have selected a person to be 
our spiritual guide than we need to submit to that person in sense of 
listening to that person. If we start to do our own thing than, neither 
that person would be able to mold us, nor give an account of us to the Lord.

We need to also note there is nothing like an eternal Pastor in respect 
of a person other than the Holy Spirit. Take the case of Paul and 
Timothy. Paul was the spiritual guide / father to Timothy until he 
matured in spirit and once Timothy matured we see Paul refers to him as 
associate and not child or son.

Every Pastor needs to also be pastored either by another or by the Holy 
Spirit. There are cases I have seen where the guide (Pastor) due to not 
growing himself or herself lands up being pastored by the one whom he or 
she pastored. If a person is not growing spiritually than it is to be 
considered a serious alarm and something needs to be done immediately by 
the person or by others around that person.

Lord You are Spirit and You desire all to worship You in spirit and 
truth. When man sinned the spirit person got corrupted so You gave your 
Word to heal man. Since man could not receive the Word You made a Way 
for man to receive the Word through the sacrifice of your Son. Lord may 
your people understand the importance of spiritual growth and how we 
lead each other unto Your Spirit who is our internal guide; like Jesus 
led and surrendered His disciples to the Holy Spirit...

Love between husband and wife

Ephesians 5:33 Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love 
his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence [fear] her 
husband.

Today's message is part of the scriptures which are generally read of 
weddings since it talks about the relationship between a husband and wife.

If one looks at these scriptures closely you will find it does not 
actually talk in detail about the relationship but gives a hint to the 
relationship for in verse 32 Paul says it is about the great mystery 
which he does not speak about in detail and the mystery is about Christ 
and His Church [congregation / bride].

What mystery Paul is speaking of is the mystery of the Heavenly wedding. 
This mystery is not something an ordinary Christian would be able to 
understand. It is only those who are mature in spirit and having a good 
understanding of God and the beings in Heaven that he or she would be 
able to understand.What Paul tries to do is tell us the earthly marriage 
is an imitation of the Heavenly marriage. This imitation helps us 
understand and prepare us for the Heavenly marriage. Since in Heaven we 
do not add souls in Christ for all are already added thus in Heaven this 
marriage relationship is just between a Husband (Christ/God) and wife 
(His Bride/His people) and not about family.

In today's message the Lord is telling us the husband should loves his 
wife as he loves himself, not more nor less. Christian bridegrooms / 
husbands /brides / wives are told actually the opposite that they need 
to love their husbands/wives more than anyone in the world. We see Adam 
sinned for he did just that, even though he knew the truth yet due to 
his uncontrolled love [affection] towards his wife he was blinded and he 
sinned along with her. Had Adam kept his priorities in order mankind 
would have been saved from sin even after Eve sinned.

Christ said 'love one another as I have loved you'.When we say we love 
our wives or husbands more than anyone in the world it means either we 
do not love our brethren sufficient or we love our husbands or wives 
more than Christ loved us. Many do not understand the basics of love 
that is why we have such confusion and wrong expectations which damage 
relationships.

The word in today's scripture translated as reverence, actually means 
fear. It says a wife should fear her husband but this fear is in the 
sense of authority since the husband plays the role of Christ. These 
instructions are to be followed when both husband and wife are in Christ 
for Church is a congregation of Christians. In case the husband or wife 
is not a Believer than these instructions are not valid.

Let us know marriage [husband and wife] is a relationship of 
responsibility and the congregation/children are the focus of the 
relationship, like the sheep were the focus of Christ and His disciples 
[the Church].

Lord when You created the world You made everything in the image of the 
things unseen. You called the union between the man and woman as 
marriage when You called woman as his wife. The relationship between any 
other set of beings is not called marriage other than the relationship 
between a man and a woman who come together to form a family. Lord we 
pray we understand marriage more and more and the Truth heals this 
relationship and helps it grow in You.

Paul too struggled and was not perfect

Acts 21:39, 40But Paul said, I am a man which am a Jew of Tarsus, a city 
in Cilicia, a citizen of no mean city: and, I beseech thee, suffer me to 
speak unto the people. And when he had given him licence, Paul stood on 
the stairs, and beckoned with the hand unto the people. And when there 
was made a great silence, he spake unto them in the Hebrew tongue, saying,

When someone points to a fault of another person the person or others 
will jump immediately and question 'who are you to judge / condemn?' Is 
it wrong to find fault?

When we share a testimony we do not glorify the person (we) but glorify 
God for we share what God has done. A testimony encourages us to trust 
God and be strong in faith. When we discuss faults it should not be to 
shame a person but to highlight the mistake such that we learn from it 
and do not do it ourselves. The Bible is full of testimonies and at the 
same time exposed the faults of people. Peter says all scriptures are 
for the edification of mankind, so if they encourage, they also correct.

In today's message we see even a great man of faith like Paul who was 
very knowledgeable in matters pertaining to the Kingdom of God than 
anyone then, still he made a mistake in his over enthusiasm when he 
harkened unto the advice of the Jews. Paul who rebuked people like Peter 
for contaminating Christianity with Jewish traditions of circumcision 
ironically he himself got arrested when he joined four Jews to finish / 
end their ritual of self-dedication as a Nazarite. A Nazarite was a 
person who took a vow and during the vow they did not cut their hair 
among other things and when they gave up or finished their vow they 
would cut their hair at the temple doors as a part of their 
purification. When Paul joined them the Jews at the temple accused Paul 
of contaminating Judaism, thus beat him up and then got him arrested.

We need to understand Christianity is not into traditions or into doings 
of the natural. One does not become Christian by dipping in water. The 
dipping is a physical and public declaration of one's dedication in 
Christ like a couple exchange rings during marriage; it is not the rings 
that make them husband and wife but the oath and their coming together 
to form a family that does. Similarly it is repentance and belief in 
Christ as their savior that makes a person eligible to become Christian 
(Christian is one who follows Christ).

We would laugh if someone who accepted Christ by water baptism later 
said that he or she would give up Christianity by dipping again!

Fanatic Hindus in India have a program called Ghar Wapashi (Home Return) 
where they do cleansing ritual (like dipping in the Ganga River or by 
performing puja) on people who claimed have changed their religion from 
Hinduism to Christianity. Can a blind person whose eyes are opened act 
blind by performing a ritual? In the same way can any blind person claim 
spiritual sight by performing rituals?

Lord You are an Awesome God. When You created us You knew our every 
weakness yet You chose us. You Lord do not look at what we are or the 
mistakes we had made, we make or will make; You look at the end result 
what You will make of us. You spoke to Jacob and called him Israel even 
though You saw his every weakness for You knew he would struggle to 
overcome them. Lord we pray even though we make mistakes we do not give 
up our struggle but keep battling with our weaknesses and overcome them 
like Paul did so that we reap a great reward in Heaven...

Knowing God

Galatians 4: 9 But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are 
known of [by] God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, 
whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage?

The writer of Galatians (supposedly Paul) in today's verse talks of 
people backsliding and turning away from God. If you read the Greek text 
the words 'rather are known of God' is actually 'rather are known by 
God' the Greek word 'hupo' is mistranslated as 'of' instead of 'with' or 
'by'.

Today the Lord is telling us we cannot know Him unless He knows us first 
or He desires us to know Him.

There are many who talk about God and even preach about Him but they yet 
do not know Him, the reason they know God through people /worldly 
knowledge and not directly since God knows them and their intention for 
joining 'a religion'. Bible says Truth will be revealed to us by the 
Holy Spirit. If we are getting our truth from people and not from the 
Holy Spirit then we need to wake up and think do we know God or is it 
that God knows our selfish reasons of being 'Christian'. If that is the 
case today is our day to repent and let God reveal Himself to us, it is 
only people who do not really know God are the ones who backslide.

If we know God it means God knows us and is revealing Himself to us. He 
being God and one from whom nothing is hidden then can He make a mistake 
of revealing to those who will fail?

Like water baptism (baptism in Jesus Christ) requires repentance of one 
sins, similarly baptism of the Holy Spirit also requires repentance, 
here the repentance is not of sins (since they are already forgiven when 
we are baptized in Jesus Christ) but repentance from our sinful nature. 
It is only when we set ourselves free from our sinful nature that we 
start our baptism journey in the Holy Spirit (baptism is not an incident 
but a process). A robber robs because he or she holds on to the nature 
of robbing, similar a person lies because he or she holds on to the 
nature of lying. If we declare our freedom from that nature we will find 
that nature will have no hold on us.

If we are having problem with God revealing Himself to us, let us look 
at the sin natures that are our hurdle and let us declare unceasingly 
our freedom from those natures. Let us stand in our freedom in Christ 
and overcome that nature.

Today God is saying He desires to reveal Himself to you and me if we are 
willing to not let the bondages of sin nature hold us back and if He has 
started to reveal Himself to us then can these natures have hold on us?

Lord You are a Merciful God and at the same time You are a Holy God. You 
Lord love the sinner but You hate sin. You hate sin for it bonds the 
spirit and destroys it. Sin is a willful thing as are the things of your 
Kingdom. Lord we pray we realize we sin for we allow the sin nature to 
hold on to us. Lord we pray we realize we who are in Christ have the 
authority set ourselves and others free from the sin natures that hold us...

Hating correction

Luke 3:19,20But Herod the tetrarch, being reproved by him for Herodias 
his brother Philip's wife, and for all the evils which Herod had done, 
Added yet this above all, that he shut up John in prison.

Herod Antipater was called Herod the tetrarch (ruler of four regions), 
he was the son of Herod the first (who rebuild the temple of Solomon). 
Herod Antipater was well known to have put many wise people to death 
simply because they did not agree with him. Here in today's message we 
see Herod Antipater puts John (the Baptist) into prison and later 
beheads him just because he rebuked him for marrying his sister in law 
even while her husband was alive.

Herod Antipater was the king of the Jews and acted as a governor who 
reported to the Roman procurator / region in-charge / governor Pontius 
Pilate. In his position he considered himself as always being right and 
whatever he did even though it was wrong he did not like being corrected 
so would use his authority to eliminate the person.

Today the Lord is talking to us who hate correction. He is reminding us 
of the times we have behaved like Herod Antipater trying to malice the 
names of those who try to correct us.

In the Bible the Lord says man has many desires and plans but the 
instructions of the Lord should stand above it. Bible also says when a 
person is not sure if the Lord is speaking unto them then they should 
take counsel from multiple counselors. It does not say any person but 
from counselors. We have a habit of going for advice to people who agree 
with us because we do not like be corrected. When we are sick would we 
like to go to a doctor who gives us medicines we like or would we go to 
a doctor who gives us medicines which heals us?

Let us understand correction is necessary and let us thank God for 
honest counselors around us who guide us in the way of the Lord even 
when they do not agree with us or see things our way.

destroyed but given a chance to correct ourselves and return to You. 
Lord we pray we understand correction is a must for correction is life. 
Help us Lord to submit to correction and to behave like Herod Antipater

Are riches of this world evil?

Luke 19:8,9 And Zacchaeus stood, and said unto the Lord; Behold, Lord, 
the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing 
from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold. And Jesus said 
unto him, This day is salvation come to this house, forsomuch as he also 
is a son of Abraham.

You may have heard the phrase which says 'If money is evil then why do 
they ask for it in Churches?'.

In today's message we see when Zacchaeus the chief tax collector (like 
today's Income Tax Commissioner) was touched by Jesus he immediately 
declared to give away half of his wealth and additional to that he said 
if he had unjustly taken more for anyone he would return back four folds.

If we analyze Zacchaeus' statement we will see he was not a cheat or 
evil person or greedy person. If he was a cheat he would have in no way 
been able to return 4 times, secondly he was clear in his conscience 
that is why the first thing he did was to declare to give away half of 
his wealth and then he said if (by any chance) he had unjustly taken 
more, then he would compensate four folds and that too from the half 
which he had.

We need to ask the question why Zacchaeus felt he had to give away half 
his wealth even though he had truthfully earned it.

After being touched by Jesus Zacchaeus knew money was to meet one's 
needs and having more than required would amount to greed, so he valuing 
Christ and the Kingdom of God more than the earthly wealth thus he 
declared to give away half his wealth. Even though Zacchaeus gave away 
only half his wealth yet Jesus said salvation had come to his household 
(since all in his family had to sacrifice the wealth). But when we 
compare this with the incident of the young rich man mentioned in Luke 
18 we see another picture. Jesus did not ask the young man to give half 
his wealth but asked him to give away all and follow Him. What is more 
interesting is the young rich man was a good, God fearing man for he did 
his best to keep the law and he also had not cheated any person.

Was Jesus unfair to the young rich man to ask all of him while being 
satisfied with half in case of Zacchaeus?

We see both were rich and good people but the love for their riches 
between the two was different. Zacchaeus willing fully gave while the 
young man even on being asked did not.

Bible does not say riches of this world is evil but says love for riches 
of this world is evil. We need to understand the moment we live beyond 
our needs we start to step in the territory called greed. And when this 
greed gets on to us then the very nature of us changes. We may be God 
fearing and good people but yet we will have little chances to enter the 
Kingdom of God. Yes when greed gets on to us we will find various routes 
and means to justify evil covered in the veil of goodness. We will give 
tithes and even give extra to various missions and think we have given 
lots, projecting ourselves as generous people but we fool only worldly 
people including ourselves.

Tithing is a statute and is just the start of becoming a Christian and 
is for those who are not baptized in the Holy Spirit that is why it is 
in the OT but not in NT. In the NT we see the disciples kept what was 
necessary and gave all that was extra, but those who dedicated their 
lives to missionary work gave all they had.

People get taken back when I say a Good Christian is a middle class 
Christian, for a poor Christian does not know his God and the rich 
Christian has learnt how to hoodwink God and harness greed.

Let us remember the anointed Cherub (who is mightier than thousands of 
Angels) who fell and was called Satan fell all because of greed. It was 
greed that started his downfall and that too greed not for evil things 
but for good things of Heaven. It was greed that led to pride and then 
on to all the other evils.

Today our Churches and Ministries are infected with greed like wood 
fully infected with termites. We see they stand but a little incident 
causes its down fall or breaking into many pieces.

Let us overcome greed more than anything, greed not just for money and 
wealth but even of other things like power, position, social status, 
social attention, human affection etc. We may not take any of these to 
Heaven but the greed for these can surely stop us from entering it.

Lord, You are a Holy God. All that You do is selfless and for the good 
of all things. They may look extreme at times but You alone know what is 
eternal and what is not. We pray Lord we do not hoard things which cause 
us to burden our spiritual lives and be reasons that stop us from 
entering the Kingdom of God...

Soul drawing back unto perdition

Hebrew 10:38,39 Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw 
back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. But we are not of them who 
draw back unto perdition [destruction]; but of them that believe to the 
saving of the soul.

Long back something that shook me was when a close bro in Christ who was 
not born Christian, who spend almost 10 years in Bible college and well 
know speaker on theology one day due to personal incident declared he 
was giving up on Christ and either going back or becoming an atheist. 
This bro was betrayed by his spiritual guide whom he considered as a 
father figure. Praise God, this brother has now renewed and become 
stronger in the Lord.

No doubt what happened with him was wrong but that wrong gave no 
justification to choose or even think of self-destruction. Any genuine 
Christian will tell you Christianity is not an option it is the only way 
to life so leaving or giving up on Christ is nothing but destruction. 
Rejecting Christ does not mean death for one goes to hell and continues 
to live for the rest of one’s spirit life. What most people are unaware 
of is that spirit life is not a few years or not some hundreds of years, 
but is some thousands of years. Now any person who does not believe in 
the Lord Jesus Christ or rejects Him will have to spend the rest of his 
or her spirit live in Hell, there the person suffers the sins that he or 
she committed on earth. These sins are like never dying coals of fire 
that burn within that person. In Hell they are not beings of flesh like 
on earth but are spirit beings. Just imagine how painful a toothache is 
in the flesh, in hell for the spirit a sin even as small as a bad 
thought or wrong words will be multiple times worse than a severe tooth 
ache and this will burn within, till the rest of their spirit life.

The writer of Hebrew (supposedly Paul) knows what rejecting Christ is, 
therefore says his soul has no pleasure in such a person who draws back 
into perdition / destruction.

Let us understand the consequence of giving up on Christ so let us hold 
on to Him / faith with all our strength. Let us also not be the reason 
for others growing in spirit to give up on Christ by our behavior for on 
Judgment Day we will be questioned for every soul that backslides due to 
our actions or words.

Lord You are a Holy God and You also are a Merciful God. When Man sinned 
out of your mercy You separated man and out of your love for Him You 
Lord made a way for him to be restored and return to You. Lord let your 
people understand the second death that is the death of the spirit is 
not like natural death which is in an instant. We pray each and every 
one holds on to the faith that is in You until they close their eyes to 
sleep in You...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Being led by the Spirit in our labor

Acts 16:9, 10And a vision appeared to Paul in the night; There stood a 
man of Macedonia, and prayed him, saying, Come over into Macedonia, and 
help us. And after he had seen the vision, immediately we endeavoured to 
go into Macedonia, assuredly gathering that the Lord had called us for 
to preach the gospel unto them.

We see many concordances give confused explanation for this scripture, 
this is because in the vision Paul sees in Macedonia a man standing and 
calling out to Paul to come but the later recordings of his reaching 
there, there is not record of any man who was requesting for the 
presence of Paul from that place. So did Paul get a wrong vision?

We see in the same chapter after Paul got the vision, Paul and Silas 
left to Macedonia and on reaching there they stay at the house of a 
woman named Lydia, who traded in purple (expensive) garments whom they 
baptized along with her household. While moving around a young woman 
with a spirit of divination [fortune / future telling] who started 
proclaiming that Paul and Silas were Men of God. Now we as Men of God 
would have been happy to have a well-known physic, soothsayer, 
telepathist, fortune teller declaring us as Men of the Living God.We 
would have thought that the person was accepting our God and us as His 
representatives, but Paul discerned the spirit that was doing this and 
later rebuked it to leave that young woman. This caused the woman to 
lose her powers to tell the future and this resulted in them being put 
in jail.

It is in jail that supernaturally Paul and Silas are freed and this 
causes the jailer to almost kill himself but Paul and Silas stop him. 
This incident leads to the jailer accepting Christ and his family also 
to accepting Christ. The authorities on knowing that Paul was a Roman 
releases them and then Paul and Silas return to the house of Lydia and 
thereafter leave Macedonia. Now in all this the only man in Macedonia 
who was really blessed was the jailer but the jailer was not calling to 
Paul as he saw in his vision.

There are times we can misrelate vision / dream and this has happened 
even with me a few times. Although they were from the Lord and the 
dream/vision was perfectly right but interpreting them did not go 
perfectly.

In Greek we see the words dream and vision is used but when we cross 
check Acts 2:17 which in turn relates to Joel 2:28 (in WTT it is 3:1) 
the Hebrew words used in Joel 2:17 as dream and vision is same what 
differs between them is the tense and quantity. It says the young will 
see dreams but the mature will dream dreams. So having visions / dreams 
increases with spiritual maturity but one needs to discern those which 
are from the Lord and those which are from other sources (like over 
eating causes dreams; both natural or spiritual - like worrying too much).

Like the Bible has a set way of how the Lord spoke to His people through 
symbols so also in dreams we see the Lord used similar symbols. If one 
studies Biblical symbols one can have the ability to interpret dreams. 
In the start it was only through repetition of the dream and seeing its 
consequences I starting relating the patterns, later with Bible study it 
became easy to interpret them. Then I saw the Lord started answering my 
questions through dreams (though not instantly every time). Dreams are 
not simple to interpret. In the start I would jump to tell people but 
later as I made some mistakes in interpreting them I started taking caution.

Paul did see a man from Macedonia calling out to him and this was indeed 
the jailer but the jailer himself was not aware. Had it not been for the 
chain of events that Paul and Silas went through, they would not have 
been able to bring the jailer and his family into Christ.

We are called to preach the Gospel to all but the Lord knows who are of 
His flock and who among the flock, are His sheep. Jesus spoke of there 
being many widows in Israel but Elijah being sent to a specific widow's 
house and there being many lepers at the time of Elisha but only one was 
healed and that too from Syria and this got the Jews very angry. They 
knew that Jesus was telling them there were no true people of God 
(sheep) leaving for these.

We preach Christ to people and many may accept Christ but from them who 
are goats and who are sheep we will not know. In Heaven we will get 
rewarded only for the sheep not for the goats for only sheep will enter 
the Kingdom of God.

Today the Lord is telling us when we are led by His Spirit then we may 
labor less in His Kingdom but this labor will be fruitful labor. Paul 
did do very fruitful work but we do not see Paul worked day and night, 
daily. He did at times but not daily. He did get time for himself and 
for building himself in the Lord. He did only 3 long tours to various 
places in those 30 to 35 years of his ministry.

In today's date we see many who labor very hard in the Lord and do not 
get time for personal growth. They need to ask themselves are they 
reaching out to goats more or to sheep. If they are gathering only goats 
then they will not reap much reward in the Kingdom of God. Jesus did not 
say just preach the Gospel to the ends of the world, He also said make 
disciples and it is only the sheep who become disciples. It is better to 
add one sheep then a thousand goats.

Lord You are Spirit and You desire worship in Spirit and Truth. We pray 
Lord we who are called by You do not labor much in the flesh but let our 
labor be fruitful being led by your Spirit. Lord we pray we reach out to 
more sheep than goats. We pray we add people who enter the Kingdom of 
God and not those who accept You but reject your Will, those who seek 
You only for their personal gains...

This prayer we make in Jesus' Name, Amen.
