IDF says it exposed new Hezbollah cell in Syrian Golan Heights
In apparent bid to drive wedge between terror group and Syrian dictator Assad, military claims operation was hidden from Damascus

The Israel Defense Forces said Wednesday that it had exposed a nascent Hezbollah terror cell established in a border village on the Syrian Golan Heights in recent months, and vowed to prevent the terrorist group from operating against Israel from Syrian soil, even at the risk of a sparking small-scale conflict.

The Iran-backed, Lebanon-based group has been trying to create a front on the Syrian Golan for years, but was unable to gain a sufficient foothold in the area until now. However, Syrian dictator Bashar Assad’s conquest of the border area this summer gave the regime-allied group an opportunity to again try to establish the necessary infrastructure with which it could threaten Israel near the border.

“The network is new and currently focused on becoming familiarized with the Golan Heights area. It is intended to eventually control teams of Syrian operatives who will launch attacks against Israel,” the military said in a statement.

At this stage the Hezbollah cell is mostly collecting intelligence and recruiting operatives, but also has weaponry in its possession, namely explosives, light arms, machine guns and antitank missiles, according to the IDF.

The military said the terror group may try to bring rockets, missiles and other weaponry into the area in the future, but is concerned that such munitions would be targeted by Israeli strikes.

A map provided by the IDF showing the approximate locations of a Hezbollah cell’s activities along the Syrian border with Israel, released on March 13, 2019. (Israel Defense Forces)
According to the IDF, the cell’s activities are focused on the border region across from Israel’s northern Golan Heights, between the abandoned city of Quneitra and the village of Arnah. Much of its infrastructure has been set up around the Druze village of Khader.

In a statement, the commander of the IDF Golan Division, Brig. Gen. Amit Fisher, said the military “will act with all our might to force this terrorist organization out of the Golan Heights and ensure the stability of the region.”

Military action against Hezbollah could lead to a retaliation by the terror group or its Iranian patron, but IDF officials said the army was prepared to risk such a conflict in order to avoid the larger threat posed by this cell.

In an apparent effort to drive a wedge between Hezbollah and Assad, the military claimed the activities of the cell are being kept hidden from the regime, which as the Syrian civil war draws to a close is interested in stabilizing the region, rather than having it again become a combat zone.

However, Israeli defense analysts cast doubt on the allegation, noting the significant cooperation between the Lebanese terror group, the Syrian military and pro-regime militias in the Golan region, as well as recent artillery strikes on Hezbollah positions near the border, which were attributed to the IDF and would likely have raised suspicions about the terror group’s activities in the area.

“They say that this revelation is going to surprise Assad. It’s not clear to me how, when Hezbollah men and their friends are using Syrian military infrastructure and are working in cooperation with militias that are very close to the regime,” veteran Arab affairs analyst Shimrit Meir wrote on Twitter.

— Israel Defense Forces (@IDF) March 13, 2019

The IDF said the cell largely comprised Syrian mercenaries — some of them Druze — but led by Lebanese commanders and “masterminded” by veteran terrorist Ali Musa Daqduq.

The new effort was largely a continuation of plans to establish Hezbollah infrastructure starting in 2013. These operations largely ended in early 2015 following an airstrike, attributed to Israel, that killed senior terrorist leader Jihad Mughniyeh as he visited the Syrian Golan along with a number of other senior Hezbollah members.

According to the IDF, many of the cell members took part in those previous efforts by Hezbollah to form a front on the Syrian border.

“A portion of the operatives underwent courses and training on behalf of Hezbollah in sabotage, sharpshooting and firing Grad rockets,” the army said.

In some cases, members of the local Druze population of Khader joined the cell for “financial reasons,” according to the IDF.

Daqduq is wanted in the United States for attacks against American forces in Iraq, including planning an attack in Karbala in 2007 that resulted in the deaths of five US soldiers.

According to the US Treasury Department, Daqduq has served “as commander of a Hezbollah special forces unit and chief of a protective detail for Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah.”

Daqduq was arrested in 2007 and imprisoned in Iraq, but was released five years later and sent to Lebanon.

The IDF said Daqduq, a Hezbollah member since 1983, was tasked this summer with establishing Hezbollah observation posts against Israel on Syrian soil.

The military released photographs of the false identification cards Daqduq used in his movements throughout the region.

The Israeli army also identified a number of other senior Hezbollah operatives taking part in the Syrian Golan efforts: Bashar and Ismail Mustafa, Talal Hassoun and Fahim Abu Qais.

“We have a clear message: We are not going to allow Hezbollah to establish a terror infrastructure in Syria capable of harming Israeli civilians,” the army said, adding that it also held the Syrian government responsible for all actions emanating from its soil.

The IDF’s announcement on Wednesday came after Syrian state media reported last week that Israeli forces fired a single shell at Khader, which lies just across the demilitarized zone between the two countries on the Golan Heights and is in Syria’s Quneitra province.

According to the state-run SANA news agency, the shell did not cause any injuries or damage. It was not immediately clear what the target was and the IDF had no comment.

Last month Syrian state media reported that Israel had shelled targets in the nearby deserted Syrian city of Quneitra.

While Israel did not comment on the strike at the time, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed the incident the next day, saying: “We are working all the time to block Iran. We operate every day, including yesterday, against Iran and its efforts to entrench itself in the region.”

A picture taken on July 26, 2018, near Ein Zivan in the Israeli Golan Heights, shows smoke rising above buildings across the border in Syria during air strikes backing a government-led offensive in the southern province of Quneitra. (AFP/Jack Guez)
Israeli military reporters were told that the strike on Quneitra targeted Iranian-backed Shiite militiamen trying to set up a base of operations near the Israeli border. The tank shelling was also meant to serve as a warning to Syria and other Iranian proxies that Israel would not tolerate Tehran’s efforts to establish a permanent military presence in the Syrian Golan.

Until recently, Israel typically refrained from commenting on its military activities against Iran in Syria, neither confirming nor denying strikes. Over the past few months, however, that policy of ambiguity has been largely abandoned by Israeli military and political officials, who have begun more openly discussing the Israel Defense Forces’ operations in Syria.

Israel has carried out hundreds of airstrikes in Syria to thwart attempts to smuggle weapons to the Hezbollah terror group and keep Iranian-backed forces from entrenching near the border.

The incident took place a day after Interior Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan vowed that there will be "no second mosque on the Temple Mount" and said that, "God willing" Jews will be able to pray there freely "in the future."

The office of Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas condemned the events and warned of an escalation as a result of these clashes, Ynet reported.

Abbas’s office further said he is engaged in “intensive discussions” with Jordan and other parties to prevent further escalations.

Alan Dershowitz went off on this anti-Israel student and it was EPIC
By Phil Schneider -  March 2, 2019 14822 0
https://israelunwired.com/alan-dershowitz-went-off-on-this-anti-israel-student-and-it-was-epic/
Alan Dershowitz is fantastic when he responds to an Arab student who tries to explain how Israel has caused the horrible plight of the “Palestinians.” Yes, the “Palestinians” can whine and complain and haven’t “gotten over it” for over 70 years, as their own people terrorize and enslave them. It is all true. However, let’s look at the entire Middle East and Israel in totality. Their is no question that the best place to be an Arab in the Middle East is Israel.
VIDEO
Their are some crazy things going on in the left over the last few years.  Instead of a reasonable liberal agenda that stands up for what is right and just, the left has become dominated by progressive values that often have very little to do with what is right.  Actually, it is sometimes the polar opposite.

Shift over the Last Few Decades
Alan Dershowitz is super-sensitive on this subject because he has seen how the left has completely lost it’s focus in the last couple of decades.

The progressive views are often as close-minded and anti-liberal as could be.  No truly liberal person would solely focus on Israel’s treatment of Arabs while ignoring the human rights of all Arab countries.  No truly liberal person would point an accusatory finger at Israel before checking the facts.  Today, that has become the norm.  Prof. Dershowitz properly puts this complainer in her place as it is obvious that this person cares little about the facts or truth.   It is just a predictable progressive attack on Israel.

Once upon a time, liberals were the conscience of our nation. They brought good into the world by reminding us that “All men are created equal” actually means that. Today, the main agenda that the left has been advancing is one of “All men and women and transgenders and whatever they feel like calling themselves should all be the same no matter what.” We’ve lost our way. Prof. Dershowitz, an old-time liberal is the perfect person to call out the radical left.

Ocasio-Cortez Retweets Post by Supporter of Palestinian Terror Organization
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) retweeted a post from a supporter of the U.S.-designated terrorist group Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP).

“AIPAC activist tells NYT the lobby is coming for Congresswomen @AOC @RashidaTlaib and @IlhanMN,” tweeted Yusuf Munayyer, the executive director of the US Center for Palestinian Rights (USCPR), sharing a New York Times article questioning the influence of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) amid Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) falsely blaming the pro-Israel lobby for paying members of Congress. “They are three people who, in my opinion, will not be around in several years.”

Munayyer, who is followed by Ocasio-Cortez on Twitter, has a record of applauding the efforts of the PFLP through his page on the social-media platform.

In 2015, he tweeted a “New video of Fadi Allon execution from another angle. He was completely surrounded and then shot and killed.”

Aloon was shot by Israeli security forces after stabbing a 15-year-old Israeli boy. Prior to the attack, Aloon posted “Either martyrdom or victory” on his Facebook profile.

In a May 21, 2010 article headlined “Palestinian nonviolence relies on global non-silence,” Munayyer inaccurately labeled those on board the so-called Gaza “Freedom Flotilla,” as “nonviolent activists.” In reality, the individuals in question actually sought to violently attack Israeli security forces.

Ocasio-Cortez’s latest tweet came just hours after defending Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar, who on Sunday stood behind her recent remarks accusing “Jewish colleagues” of attacking her and Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) for labeling every criticism of theirs as anti-Israel because of the faith of the two congresswomen, in addition to slamming her critics regarding “the political influence in this country that says it is okay to push for allegiance to a foreign country.”

“One of the things that is hurtful about the extent to which reprimand is sought of Ilhan is that no one seeks this level of reprimand when members make statements about Latinx + other communities (during the shutdown, a GOP member yelled ‘Go back to Puerto Rico!’ on the floor),” said the congresswoman in a Twitter thread.

MANDELBLIT: BEN ARI INCITES RACISM; PARTY: AG IS ANTI-RIGHT
AG recommends banning Otzma Yehudit leader from elections, but okays his deputy
Central Elections Committee to rule Wednesday on eligibility of ex-MK Michael Ben Ari; if it accepts AG’s position, Itamar Ben Gvir could be safe bet for Knesset

Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit on Tuesday night backed a petition to the Central Elections Committee calling to disqualify the candidacy of Michael Ben Ari, the chairman of the extremist Otzma Yehudit faction, which folded into the Union of Right Wing Parties last month.

In a legal opinion drafted in response to one of several petitions filed against the far-right slate, Mandelblit differentiated between Ben Ari and the party’s second representative Itamar Ben Gvir, and recommended authorizing the candidacy of the latter.

Ben Ari is fifth on the slate of the URWP, an amalgam of Jewish Home, National Union and Otzma Yehudit (Jewish Power), while Ben Gvir is eighth. Polls over the past week have predicted the right-wing alliance will receive about seven seats, placing Ben Ari comfortably in the Knesset with Ben Gvir remaining just outside of it before the petitions.

The Central Elections Committee will be convening on Wednesday in order to make a decision regarding Otzma Yehudit; however, no candidate or party can be officially disqualified without ratification from the Supreme Court.

Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit speaks during a conference at the national library in Jerusalem on June 6, 2018. (Hadas Parush/Flash90)
In response to Mandelblit’s ruling, the URWP released a statement asserting that “someone apparently has set a goal of overthrowing the right-wing government and is acting by all means at its disposal.”

The hardline slate argued that the attorney general had demonstrated hypocrisy in authorizing the candidacy of “Arab Knesset members who support terror” while disqualifying Ben Ari.

The attorney general’s legal opinion cited a host of intolerant quotes made by Ben Ari over the past decade, which Mandelblit argued demonstrated enough of a reason for disqualifying Ben Ari on grounds of incitement to racism.

Ben Ari is a former National Union MK who broke away from the party in order to start a new far-right faction in 2012; this, in turn, went on to become Otzma Yehudit.

Mandelblit explained that his decision leaned heavily on recent public remarks made by Ben Ari, some of which were posted on Otzma Yehudit’s Facebook page.

According to the attorney general, the quotes clearly indicate that Ben Ari incites against Israel’s Arab and other minority populations.

Among the statements from the Otzma Yehudit chairman highlighted by Mandelblit was one from August 2018 in which Ben Ari stated, “We have to change the equation regarding anyone who dares to speak against a Jew. [Such a person] is a dead man. He must not come out alive. No expelling him, no stripping him of his citizenship. He does not live! A firing squad takes him out as the Arabs understand [best].”

Rabbi Meir Kahane (photo credit: Yossi Zamir/Flash90)
In a speech from November 2017, also cited by the attorney general, Ben Ari said of the Palestinians: “We give them another 100,000 dunams [thinking] maybe they will love us. In the end, yes, they do love us, [but] slaughtered… Rabbi Kahane taught us that there is no coexistence with them.”

Regarding Ben Gvir, Mandelblit wrote that while the evidence against him was “extremely disturbing,” it was not enough to recommend that the far-right attorney-activist be disqualified as well.

Otzma Yehudit leaders have described themselves as proud disciples of the late ultra-nationalist rabbi Meir Kahane. The party supports encouraging emigration of non-Jews from Israel, and expelling Palestinians and Israeli Arabs who refuse to declare loyalty to Israel and accept diminished status in an expanded Jewish state whose sovereignty extends throughout the West Bank.

The ultra-nationalist faction’s union with Jewish Home was orchestrated by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanayhu in an effort to prevent votes being lost if the individual parties failed to cross the Knesset threshold of 3.25%. However, the specter of Otzma Yehudit gaining a seat in the Knesset has drawn criticism from Israeli lawmakers and major Jewish groups around the world.

Earlier on Monday, Mandelblit gave an opposite recommendation in a different petition which sought to boot the URWP, in addition to opposing two other petitions that called for disqualifying Arab Israeli parties from running on April 9.

The attorney general dismissed as having no grounds the anti-URWP petition, which claimed that the right-wing party “harms equality.”

Mandelblit also rejected a petition against a campaign video by Otzma Yehudit that drew the ire of Arab lawmakers by depicting an IDF soldier hesitating to shoot a knife-wielding attacker over concerns he may violate strict rules of engagement. The petition denounced the video as incitement to racism, but Mandelblit found that the clip was not likely to make anyone think that the IDF and its soldiers identify with the Otzma Yehudit party. To the contrary, “the video expresses reservations about the way the army operates,” he wrote.

The attorney general also wrote that the petition against Arab-Israeli party Ra’am-Balad that claimed its members “seek to eliminate Israel as a Jewish state” and support violent Palestinian resistance, as well as the Hezbollah terror group, was not supported by enough evidence.

One of the most vulgar public displays of anti-Semitism in recent memory occurred at a massive “carnival” parade that UNESCO previously honored on its list of “intangible world heritage” assets.

The Aalst “carnival” celebration dates back to the Middle Ages, and the outrageous display of Jew-hatred at this year’s parade was truly medieval.

One float depicted grotesque caricatures of Orthodox Jews, with side-locks, bulbous noses, and fur “shtreimel” hats, perched atop bags of money with a rat one of their shoulders. Another float featured a troupe of dancers dressed in similar get-ups, whose routine began with a shout of “Shalom.”

The parade, previously endorsed by the UNESCO, also included people in blackface and others dressed as members of the Ku Klux Klan hate group.

A decision by the attorney general to press charges, pending a hearing, in the criminal investigations against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu could have a game-changing impact on the April 9 elections, a new Times of Israel poll shows. The ruling Likud party would lose both a significant chunk of support, as well as its ability to form a coalition after the vote, the survey, published overnight Wednesday-Thursday, finds.

According to the poll (the full results are here), conducted exclusively for The Times of Israel, Netanyahu’s Likud would lose four projected Knesset seats in the April election if Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit announced his intention to press charges against him, a move widely expected to happen Thursday.

More significantly, due to voters defecting from Likud as well as a slight change in voter preferences among smaller parties leading to three of them dropping below the threshold, the newly formed Blue and White party could see a major jump in its Knesset seats, taking it well ahead of all other parties and placing it in a strong position to form a coalition. (The three parties that would fall below the 3.25% Knesset threshold in the shift prompted by an indictment decision are Shas, Yisrael Beytenu and Ra’am-Balad. Their votes would then be redistributed among parties that do clear the threshold. Orly Levy-Abekasis’s Gesher party fails to make the Knesset, the poll shows, whether or not Mandelblit decides to indict Netanyahu.)

Conducted this week by polling firm Number 10 Strategies, the survey shows that the Likud would drop from a predicted 29 seats if charges are not announced in any of the corruption cases against Netanyahu, to 25 seats if charges are announced, pending a hearing. Over a quarter (28%) of those planning to vote for Likud said that they do not intend to vote for the party if the attorney general announces his intention to indict the prime minister.

The Benny Gantz-Yair Lapid alliance Blue and White, on the other hand, would rise dramatically, from 36 to 44 seats, if Mandelblit announces his intention to indict.

The poll shows that Blue and White would win more seats than Netanyahu’s Likud whether or not Mandelblit announces his intention to indict the prime minister, but only if he is facing criminal charges would Netanyahu’s right-wing/ultra-Orthodox bloc fail to muster the 61 or more seats in the 120-member Knesset needed to form a majority coalition.

Times of Israel – Number 10 Strategies poll showing current voting intentions, February 27, 2019
With no indictment announcement, Likud and its likely partners would receive 61 seats, a paper-thin majority in the 120-seat Knesset but enough to form a government. If Mandelblit does announce his intention to press charges, however, the same parties would receive just 55 in total.

Blue and White was formed last week, when Israel Resilience and Yesh Atid agreed to run on a joint slate along with Moshe Ya’alon’s Telem party and Gabi Ashkenazi, who like Gantz and Ya’alon is a former military chief. It has performed strongly in polls since then, and The Times of Israel results show that even without an indictment announcement against Netanyahu, it would widen its lead over Likud, scoring 36 to the ruling party’s 29 Knesset seats.

Still, in that scenario, Blue and White would not be able to build a coalition of 61 or more seats. After an indictment announcement, however, Blue and White could succeed in forming a coalition with the support of Labor and two of either Meretz, Kulanu, Yisrael Beytenu or the ultra-Orthodox parties, the poll shows.

Mandelblit has refused demands by Netanyahu’s lawyers that an announcement on whether he intends to indict Netanyahu wait until after the April vote. According to multiple reports, he will announce his intention to indict the prime minister, subject to a hearing, in two and maybe all three of the cases against the prime minister on Thursday. The hearing process would take place after the elections.

In lieu of indictment announcements, the Labor Party would be joint third place with eight seats — a slight drop from the bump it saw in polls after its primary earlier this month, and a historic low for the former powerhouse in Israeli politics which currently holds 19 seats. Notably, in the post-indictment scenario, Labor is the only party other than the Likud (and the three parties which drop below the threshold altogether) not to see an increase at all in the poll.

Joint with Labor on eight seats, before charges, is the New Right, which was founded at the beginning of the election cycle by breakaway Jewish Home ministers Naftali Bennett and Ayelet Shaked. After a decision to press charges, the New Right would jump to 10 seats.

Following Labor and New Right, in the first scenario, come the ultra-Orthodox United Torah Judaism party and the Hadash-Ta’al union of two Arab-Israeli parties, on seven seats. Both would be bumped to eight after an indictment announcement.

The United Right-Wing Parties, a recent merger of the religious-Zionist Jewish Home and National Union parties along with the extremist Otzma Yehudit, scores five seats before an indictment, going up to six after an announcement.

In the pre-indictment scenario, a total of five parties hover dangerously close to the 3.25% electoral threshold for entry into the Knesset. According to the results, Meretz, Kulanu, Yisrael Beytenu, Shas and Ra’am-Balad, a second union of two Arab-Israeli parties, all scored just enough to gain four seats, the lowest possible amount.

Times of Israel – Number 10 Strategies poll, showing current voting intentions (in dark blue), and voting intentions if the attorney general announces his intention to indict Benjamin Netanyahu pending a hearing (light blue), February 27, 2019. Note that Yisrael Beytenu, Shas and Ra’am-Balad slip below the electoral threshold in the second scenario.
It is these vulnerable parties that could be hit hardest by an indictment announcement and in turn have a sizable affect on the overall results.

According to the poll, a small percentage of Shas, Yisrael Beytenu and Ra’am-Balad voters will move to Blue and White in order to bolster Likud’s challenger in light of charges against Netanyahu. But if, as predicted, that small shift is enough to push them below the threshold, the re-calibration of votes will result in a significant boost for Blue and White.

With 12 seats to be distributed between the remaining parties, Blue and White could gain an extra four, on top of the four it already took from the Likud. So, with Likud losing four seats and Blue and White gaining eight, the gap between the two would grow from seven to 19, with Blue and White on 44 seats and Likud on 29.

Regardless of the Knesset seat allocation, which could change significantly based on whether the small parties pass the threshold or not, Likud registers a drop in support from 19% before an indictment announcement to 15% after, while Blue and White sees an increase from 23% to 26%.

While polls are an almost daily occurrence in Israel in the months leading up to elections and are not seen as overly reliable, taken together the surveys can often serve as a general gauge of the political climate and where the vote may be headed.

Several specific questions posed to respondents in The Times of Israel poll regarding the investigations also spelled bad news for Netanyahu.

Just 35% of respondents, for example, said they agree with the statement: “The investigations into Benjamin Netanyahu are petty and politically motivated. They know he will win the election, so are trying to find other ways to get him out of office.”

By contrast, 47% said they agreed with a second statement, to the effect that the probes are “extremely serious and should not be taken lightly,” and that if Netanyahu is indicted, “he should immediately step down.”

For Likud voters, 81% said they agreed more with the first statement, while 10% said the second better represented their views.

Asked if they believed that after a decade in power, Netanyahu should continue in the top job, 19% of respondents said they were happy with his leadership and wanted him to continue. Twenty-six percent said they believed it was “time for a change” but couldn’t see a viable alternative, while 55% said the prime minister should go.

Strikingly, while 56% of Likud voters said they were happy with Netanyahu, 44% said they would back his ouster if there were an alternative they supported.

In a head-on-head race with Benny Gantz, however, Netanyahu still edged first place, scoring 41% to the former IDF chief of staff’s 39%.

Netanyahu has denied any wrongdoing in all three cases against him, and has alleged that the investigations against him are a “witch hunt” involving the left, the media and the police, relentlessly pressuring a “weak” attorney general.

The survey was conducted via online panels between February 24 and 27, 2019, among a representative sample of 708 likely voters in the upcoming Knesset elections. Respondents who indicated that they were unsure or less likely to vote were not included in the sample. 18% of respondents were Arabic speakers surveyed in Arabic. The findings are rounded to the nearest whole digit. The margin of error is +/-3.7% with a 95% confidence level.

The survey was formulated by The Times of Israel and Simon Davies, a partner in the political consultancy, Number 10 Strategies.

The Israeli military may have committed war crimes in 2018 when 189 Palestinians were killed and 6,100 wounded at Gaza protests, UN rights inquiry said.
Palestinian demonstrators "did not pose an imminent threat of death or serious injury to others when they were shot, nor were they directly participating in hostilities," the panel report said on Thursday citing confidential information about those responsible for the killings.

The commission said every use of live fire during the protests was unlawful, while also calling on Palestinians to cease the use of incendiary kites and balloons.

The independent panel wants the U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet to pass the findings to the International Criminal Court.

Tel Aviv slammed the report, branding accusations a "theatre of the absurd".

“No one can deny Israel the right of self-defence and the obligation to defend its citizens and borders from violent attack,” Acting Foreign Minister Israel Katz said.

A massive wave of protests known as the “Great march of the Return” started at the border between Israel and the Gaza Strip on March 30 and lasted till the end of 2018. Protesters called to put an end to the siege imposed on the Gaza Strip by Israel and Egypt for over a decade.

Israeli authorities claimed they used force to proteсt the border from the attacks of armed militants.

US President Donald Trump defended Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu Thursday as the premier reportedly awaited a decision on whether he will be indicted on corruption charges.

“I can say this, he’s done a great job as prime minister,” Trump said in Hanoi after his summit with North Korean leader Kim Jing Un.

“He’s tough, smart, and strong. He’s very defensive, his military has been built up a lot,” Trump said.

Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit was reportedly set to announce later Thursday his intention to charge Netanyahu with criminal offenses in all three cases against him, including bribery in a corruption probe surrounding the national phone company, Bezeq.

According to reports, Mandelblit has decided to charge the prime minister with bribery in only one case, and the lesser charge of breach of trust in two others.

If indeed charged, Netanyahu will be notified that he can request a hearing to contest the planned indictment. The hearing process could take up to a year, during which time he is not legally obliged to step down. It’s not clear if the prime minister could continue to serve after being formally charged with criminal offenses.

Netanyahu has denied any wrongdoing in all three cases, and has alleged that the investigations against him are a “witch hunt” involving the left, the media and the police, relentlessly pressuring a “weak” attorney general.
Mandelblit has refused demands by Netanyahu’s lawyers that he wait with his announcement on whether he intends to indict until after coming April 9 national elections.

In Case 1000, involving suspicions that Netanyahu received gifts and benefits from billionaire benefactors in exchange for favors, Mandelblit will reportedly charge Netanyahu with breach of trust. In Case 2000, involving suspicions Netanyahu agreed with Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper publisher Arnon Mozes to weaken a rival daily in return for more favorable coverage from Yedioth, Mandelblit will reportedly also charge the premier with breach of trust, while Mozes will be charged with bribery.

In Case 4000, widely seen as the most serious against the premier, he is suspected of having advanced regulatory decisions that benefited Bezeq-controlling shareholder Shaul Elovitch in exchange for positive coverage from the Elovitch-owned Walla news site. Mandelblit is reportedly going to announce he is charging Netanyahu with bribery. Elovitch too will reportedly face bribery charges.

Asthma-causing Blood Cells Could Fight Colon Cancer, Israeli Study Finds

A new study led by Tel Aviv University’s Sackler School of Medicine finds that white blood cells related to allergies and asthma may also be harnessed to destroy cancer cells.
By ISRAEL21c
A surprising new study from Israel finds that malignant colorectal cancer cells can be eliminated with eosinophils — white blood cells that originate in bone marrow and may once have killed off intestinal parasites, but which today are responsible for chronic asthma and allergies.

The research, published in Cancer Immunology Research on January 21, was led by Prof. Ariel Munitz of the Tel Aviv University Sackler School of Medicine department of microbiology and clinical immunology and conducted by his doctoral student Hadar Reichman, in collaboration with colleagues in Tel Aviv Medical Center’s gastroenterology department.

“Eosinophils are white blood cells that secrete powerfully destructive proteins,” Munitz said. “They may have played an evolutionary role in combating parasites. But now that most people, particularly in the West, enjoy good hygiene and few parasites, the eosinophils have become destructive agents, causing allergies and asthma.

“Our new research theorized that since eosinophils are capable of killing parasites and can cause damage in the lungs of asthma patients, they might play a role in cancer treatment and would be able to kill tumor cells.”

The largest eosinophil reservoir is situated in the digestive system, so the researchers initially decided to test their theories on colorectal cancer. In the first stage of research, they selected samples from tumors of 275 patients to determine the number of eosinophils in a tumor as compared with the stage and severity of the disease.

“We found that the higher the number of eosinophils in the tumor, the less severe the disease, which represents a clear correlation,” said Munitz. “We identified that the cancerous environment attracts these cells, which infiltrate the tumors and flourish there for a long time.”

Potent Anti-tumor Activities
The researchers subsequently tested their hypotheses in various mouse models of colorectal cancer. They discovered that eosinophils displayed potent anti-tumor activities and could directly kill tumor cells.

“We also found that when eosinophils were activated by a protein called IFN-gamma, they induced an even greater tumor-killing response,” Munitz explained.

“Following various extensive analyses, we concluded that eosinophils have unique and distinct activities in comparison with other cells present in the tumor. For example, eosinophils can kill tumors independently of known tumor-fighting cytotoxic T cells.”

He believes eosinophils could be used in treating cancer if their robust anti-tumor response somehow could be unleashed pharmaceutically, or by combining treatments to harness the potent forces of both eosinophils and cytotoxic T cells.

“We have discovered a new target for immunotherapy for cancer patients — the eosinophils,” concluded Munitz. “We hope that our research will serve as a foundation for drug development in a number of different approaches.”

The study was supported by the Israel Cancer Research Foundation, the Israel Cancer Association and the Israel Science Foundation

US President Donald Trump’s senior adviser Jared Kushner said in an interview Monday that the administration’s much-awaited Israeli-Palestinian peace plan will focus on “redrawing of boundaries and resolving final status issues.”

Kushner spoke with Sky News Arabic in comments overlaid with an Arabic translation. His original English-language quotes were not immediately available.
Kushner said that since “very little has changed over the last 25 years,” the administration’s team had worked to “formulate realistic solutions for the issues of 2019, which will improve quality of life.

“We want to bring peace, not fear. We want to ensure there is free flow of people and of goods. We must create new opportunities.”
Kushner also called for unified rule over the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, which are currently split between the internationally recognized Palestinian Authority and the Hamas terror group, respectively.

“We want to see the Palestinians united under one leadership, the Palestinians want a non-corrupt government that cares for their own interests,” he said.

Kushner, who is also Trump’s son-in-law, added that the plan will “have a broad economic impact, not only on Israel and the Palestinians, but on the entire region as well.”

The Trump administration has closely guarded details of its peace proposal, which Kushner said in the interview was necessary to ensure its chance of success.
“When we learned about previous rounds of negotiations, we discovered that many of the details came out before they were ready, which pushed the statesmen to flee from the plan,” he said.
Kusher said last week that details of the US plan would be released after Israeli elections on April 9.

EXPOSED: Links Between Top Corbyn Aide and Anti-Israel Terror Groups
Seumas Milne, Labour’s head of strategy and communications, is considered so influential that he has been referred to as “Corbyn’s brain.”
By Benjamin Kerstein, The Algemeiner
A top aide to controversial UK Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn has long-standing ties to anti-Israel terrorist groups and would likely be denied a security clearance as a result, a new report has revealed.
Seumas Milne, Labour’s head of strategy and communications, is considered so influential that he has been referred to as “Corbyn’s brain,” and Corbyn, who is considered anti-Semitic by the vast majority of British Jews, reportedly relies upon him completely.

According to a weekend exposé by The Mail on Sunday, Milne’s links with terrorist groups dedicated to destroying the Jewish state are decades old. A party staff member, speaking anonymously, said, “Seumas has been supporting groups that deny Israel’s right to exist for many years.”

While he was at Oxford University in 1977, Milne traveled to Lebanon and met with PLO terrorists. According to a New Statesman profile, Milne “learned Arabic, heard shots fired in anger, escaped from a blown-up building, and was briefly captured by militiamen.”

Palestinian activist Hussein Agha, who has known Milne for years, related that the political adviser “went to Lebanon, Syria, and the West Bank — a young boy on a Leftist grand tour. He adopted a Palestinian accent. He used to speak English with Arabs the way they spoke to him.”

He added that Milne met with Fatah members while the group still openly called for Israel’s destruction and the ethnic cleansing of its Jewish population. “I met him when he came back,” he told The Mail. “He was not anti-Semitic, but he was very, very anti-Israel.”

Call for Palestinians to “Escalate Armed Resistance’
Returning to Oxford, Milne co-founded the Oxford Palestine Campaign, an extremist anti-Israel group. The organization disseminated PLO propaganda and aggressively denounced the 1978 peace treaty between Israel and Egypt, saying, “We must now expect the Palestinians to react in the only way that is left to them: to escalate their armed resistance.”

Agha, who has since been involved in Israeli-Palestinian peace talks, remarked that Milne “thinks I have sold out, become too soft. He is a purist.”

According to the Mail report, Milne eventually developed links with Hamas and took Corbyn to the Middle East to meet with leaders of the Islamist terror group, which still openly states that its goal is Israel’s destruction.

In 2009, Milne stated, “The idea that Israel is a racist state is largely uncontroversial” and charged that Israel was “built on ethnic cleansing.”

In response to the Mail report, a Labour source said: “Seumas Milne does not endorse the Hamas charter. He has criticised it.” The source added, “Seumas has never advocated violence. The right to resist illegal occupation is enshrined in international law.”

‘Corbyn Trusts Milne More Than Anyone’
On the overlap between Milne’s and Corbyn’s views, one Member of Parliament noted anonymously, “Without a shadow of a doubt, Corbyn trusts Milne more than anyone. I actually think Corbyn is a little bit thick. It’s no exaggeration to say that Milne is Corbyn’s brain.”

Milne has apparently been heavily involved in Labour efforts to deal with accusations of anti-Semitism against Corbyn and the party. “Again and again, MPs have asked to see Corbyn to talk about anti-Semitism, and when they got to his room, they found themselves talking to Milne,” the MP said.

In addition to Israel-related issues, The Mail said Milne had defended Russia’s invasions of Afghanistan and Ukraine and said an IRA attempt in 1984 to assassinate then-prime minister Margaret Thatcher was a “very daring attack.” After 9/11, he wrote that Americans do not understand that they are “hated with such bitterness” because of their “unabashed national egotism and arrogance.” He has also defended the theocratic Iranian regime, which calls for the destruction of Israel, and called protesters against it “Tehran’s gilded youth.”

Sir Richard Dearlove, former head of British intelligence agency MI6, said that as a result of Milne’s history, it would be impossible for him to pass the required security checks to see classified information if Corbyn becomes prime minister.

“Anyone with his sort of background could not be let anywhere near classified information. It would be out of the question,” said Dearlove.

‘Beyond the Pale’
“I am alarmed enough by Corbyn’s past associations, but Milne’s put him beyond the pale. That means Corbyn could not make the judgments and decisions a PM has to make unless he stopped consulting him,” he explained.

“There would be a recommendation made by the head of MI5, who would have to see the PM and say, ‘This man cannot be allowed to see any classified information.’ Either Corbyn would have to cut contact with him — or the head of MI5 would have to threaten to resign, and do it if he still refused. It would blow up into a major constitutional issue, and it would be huge,” Dearlove added.

“You are our future. We rely on you to spread Holocaust education and to stand up against anti-Semitism,” NYC Council member Chaim Deutsch told 1,500 teens.

Some 1,500 teens from 186 cities in 10 countries worldwide were in New York over the weekend for the annual Chabad Teen Network-CTeen Shabbaton.

After the Havdalah ceremony on Saturday night, which marks the conclusion of Shabbat and the beginning of a new week, the teens enjoyed a celebration of Jewish pride in Times Square, including music by popular Israeli singer Gad Elbaz, Chabad.org reported.

Chaim M. Deutsch, chair of the New York City Council Jewish Caucus, addressed the crowd, saying this year saw an 88-percent rise in hate crimes in the U.S. and telling them to keep the memory of the Holocaust alive, as the number of survivors is dwindling.

Israel’s first lunar-bound spacecraft successfully blasted off early Friday morning, embarking on a seven-week trip to land on the moon. If the privately funded Beresheet project is successful, Israel will become just the fourth country to land a spacecraft on the moon.

Beresheet lifted off from Cape Canaveral in Florida at 3:45 a.m. Israel time (8:45 p.m. Thursday EST), catching a ride on one of Elon Musk’s SpaceX commercial space launches.

The start of the flight went smoothly, with the first stage entry burn completed uneventfully less than three minutes after lift-off. At 4:25 am, 38 minutes after takeoff, Beresheet successfully detached from the Falcon 9 rocket, in the first test of its ability to function under its own power.

Hundreds of people gathered at the Israel Aerospace Industries in Yehud to watch a live feed of the launch from Florida. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who was also on hand, blessed the initiative, calling it “a great step for Israel, and a huge step for Israel’s technology.”

“I asked that a Tanakh, an Israeli flag and the writing ‘Am Yisrael Chai‘ [the People of Israel Live] be taken to the moon,” he said. “They told me ‘It’s OK. It has already been taken care of.'”

The four-legged Beresheet, barely the size of a washing machine, will circle Earth in ever bigger loops until it’s captured by lunar gravity and goes into orbit around the moon. Touchdown would be April 11 at the Sea of Serenity.

Lior Ezrai will be the first spacecraft controller to have full control over Beresheet, and will be in charge of initiating the on-board motors to gently ease the spacecraft into the correct elliptical.

“It is really exciting,” said Ezrai moments before returning to the command center ahead of the launch. “I have been a bit stressed about the launch, but it is going to be really exciting to be the first to be able to control it and see that all the systems are working.”

“We had a successful launch, were injected into a good orbit, separated well, and have good communications,” said Dr. Ofer Doron, the general manager of the Space Division at Israel Aerospace Industries.

There is a small problem with one of the star trackers, which helps the spacecraft orient itself using the position of the stars, but Doron said there are other ways that the spacecraft will be able to maneuver onto the correct path.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu observes the launching of an Israeli moon mission at Israel Aerospace Industries in Yehud on February 21, 2019 (SpaceIL)
The $100 million (NIS 370 million) spacecraft is a joint venture between private companies SpaceIL and Israel Aerospace Industries, funded almost entirely by private donations from well-known Jewish philanthropists, including South African billionaire Morris Kahn, Miriam and Sheldon Adelson, Lynn Schusterman, and others.

Previously, Russia (as the Soviet Union) and the United States have landed on the moon. China landed an unmanned spacecraft on the far side of the moon in 2013.

SpaceIL was the only Israeli contestant in the international Google LunarX PRIZE competition, which offered participants a chance to win $20 million by landing an unmanned spacecraft on the moon. Google ended the contest officially on March 31, 2018, with no winner. But the group behind SpaceIL decided to continue its mission, turning to donors to help fund the barebones operation.

The Beresheet spacecraft will measure magnetic fields on the moon, data which will be transferred to the Weizmann Institute to help scientists study how the moon was formed billions of years ago. Beresheet will send information for approximately two to three days before the sun’s rays are expected to melt parts of the communication system, ending the mission.

The Beresheet team hopes that the excitement around Israel’s first moon landing will have an “Apollo effect” reminiscent of the ’60s, when space travel inspired hundreds of thousands of children in America to study science and aerospace engineering.

The public voted on the name Beresheet, which is the Hebrew word for the Book of Genesis and also means “In the beginning.” The spacecraft is carrying a Hebrew Bible inscribed with nanotechnology on a small metal circle the size of a NIS 5 coin, and a time capsule with Israel’s Declaration of Independence and national anthem, the memories of a Holocaust survivor, children’s drawings of space and the moon, the Traveler’s Prayer and a note from the late president Shimon Peres.

The time capsule also includes a picture of Israeli astronaut Ilan Ramon, who died aboard space shuttle Columbia in 2003 — as well as a lunar library containing 30 million pages on a disk from the US-based Arch Mission Foundation.

Ramon’s widow, Rona, was a big supporter of Beresheet; she died of cancer in December.

The Beresheet Command Center in Yehud, about 10 miles southeast of Tel Aviv, is where the spacecraft was built and tested, including spending 10-day periods in a massive vacuum that blasted the spacecraft alternately with extreme heat and cold in order to ensure it can stand up to the wide temperature fluctuations in space.

Space travel is going the way of Uber and the sharing economy, with international space agencies looking to cut costs by using “ride shares” to hitchhike into space on existing commercial launches.

Following liftoff, SpaceX recovered the first-stage booster, which flew twice last year. The booster landed smoothly on an offshore ocean platform, after the hottest re-entry yet, according to SpaceX founder and chief executive Musk. Sparks from burning metal were visible in the landing video.

The Falcon 9 rocket that brought Beresheet into space also deployed a large geo-communication satellite and other equipment for the US Air Force. While Musk has cornered the market on commercial rocket launches, SpaceIL and IAI are hoping to find a niche in inexpensive moon landings, so space agencies or, one day, private individuals or organizations, could send cameras and research equipment to the moon for their own purposes.

Netanyahu announced that the Arab world’s view of the Middle East has changed and its leaders concur with Israel that fighting Iranian aggression is the key to peace in the region.

By: TPS

Addressing the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations’ Leadership Mission to Israel on Monday evening in Jerusalem, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu shared his experiences at the Warsaw Conference last week, during which some 60 heads of state, including several from Middle Eastern countries, convened to discuss combating Iran.

“They spoke about seeking solutions to problems in the Middle East. They said, yes, we want to solve the Israeli-Palestinian problem, but it cannot be solved unless we roll back Iran’s aggression. That’s a change,” Netanyahu stated.

“With the Arab countries, as with many Muslim countries, the question is how to fight militant Islam. And recently in Warsaw, you saw something spectacular. I did. There were 60 foreign ministers, representatives of 60 countries in a hall about the size of this hall, with the representatives from half a dozen Arab countries who got on the stage and spoke about Iran,” the Israeli premier shared. “They said Iran is the greatest danger we face.”

One head of state was asked about Israel’s military action against Iran’s entrenchment in Syria and the answer was, “Every country has a right to defend itself,” Netanyahu added, in an apparent reference to Israel’s right to self-defense.

Iran’s military build-up in Syria remains a red line for Israel. Israel’s Air Force has carried out hundreds of attacks to thwart the Iranian entrenchment in the war-torn country in the last two years alone.

Iran uses its positions in Syria to transfer weapons and infrastructure to its terror proxy in Lebanon, Hezbollah, while attempting to establish another military front against Israel from the Syrian Golan Heights.

After marathon talks Gantz, Lapid forge alliance in challenge to Netanyahu
Former IDF chief of staff Gabi Ashkenazi also joining united centrist list as leaders agree to rotate being prime minister should they win the elections

After marathon, all-night talks, the leaders of the two top-polling centrist parties, Benny Gantz and Yair Lapid, announced Thursday that they had agreed to merge their party lists to challenge Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s frontrunning Likud in the upcoming elections.

The announcement, just after dawn, said that Gantz’s Israel Resilience party and Lapid’s Yesh Atid had agreed that should they win and form a government, Gantz would be prime minister first for a period of two and a half years, and then Lapid would take over.

The announcement also said that popular former IDF chief of staff Gabi Ashkenazi had agreed to join the united list in the fourth slot in the wake of the merger, in a move intended to further add to their broad centrist appeal.

“From a feeling of national responsibility, it was decided by Benny Gantz, Yair Lapid and (Moshe) Ya’alon to create a united list that will become the new governing party of Israel,” Gantz and Lapid said in a joint statement.

Ya’alon, another former IDF chief of staff and a former Likud defense minister, had already united his Telem party with Gantz.

“This new governing party will present a new team of security and social leaders that will ensure the security of the nation and reunite the fractured elements of Israeli society,” the statement said.

The statement announced the rotation agreement and said Ashkenazi had decided to join due to the “pivotal moment and the national task at hand.”

The alliance injects greater competition into April’s elections. “For the first time since 2009, we have a competitive race for the premiership and this is the result of the emergence of this new centrist force,” said Yohanan Plesner, a former lawmaker and president of the non-partisan Israel Democracy Institute.

“There are now, as a result of this unification, two, I would say, legitimate major parties … (but) it’s not a done deal,” Plesner said. “I think Netanyahu is still more likely to win and to emerge as prime minister at the end of this election campaign, but it is a competitive race.”

Gantz and Lapid were to hold a joint press conference on Thursday evening, at which they would announce the name of their new alliance and its joint list of Knesset candidates.

Talks had long stalled over who would lead the joint list, and how much of Lapid’s Yesh Atid’s policy platform the unified faction would adopt.

Gantz, whose Israel Resilience party is polling well ahead of Lapid’s Yesh Atid, reportedly had wanted to stay at the top for the entire term.

Earlier, sources familiar with the talks who spoke with several Israeli media outlets on Wednesday said that if the two agreed to a rotation, the party of the second-term leader would get a larger share of the joint list’s Knesset slots.

The two leaders met for two and a half hours earlier Wednesday, at the home of Yesh Atid campaign manager Hillel Kobrinsky in Savyon, after which their advisers took over the negotiations. The leaders then met again at night.

The decision to merge the lists had to be made before 5 p.m. Thursday, the final legally-mandated deadline for registering each Knesset list that will run in the April 9 race.

Gantz had unveiled his party’s Knesset slate at a gathering on Tuesday night, and used the opportunity to announce his intention to call Lapid and propose an immediate meeting in order to join forces with Yesh Atid.

“As soon as the conference is over, I will call my friend Lapid, and I will propose to meet with him this evening. I will again propose to him to set all other considerations aside, and together we will put Israel before everything else,” Gantz said in his speech, which was marked by a scathing personal attack on Netanyahu.

Gantz and Lapid indeed ended up talking after the speech, and again through Wednesday.

Polls have shown that a merger of both parties would become the biggest Knesset faction and have a better chance to challenge Netanyahu’s Likud.

But Yesh Atid had said it was waiting for clarifications on Israel Resilience’s views on a range of issues, including the nation-state law passed in the previous Knesset, religious freedom, and whether Gantz would join a Netanyahu-led government if a victorious Netanyahu were to offer him a senior post.

“You can’t weaken the opportunity for historic change due to a debate over job opportunities,” Gantz urged on Tuesday. “Let’s rise above [the differences], unite and win.”

Lapid responded to Gantz in a statement that read, “As I said [Monday] on stage [when presenting his own party’s Knesset candidates], we will leave no stone unturned, we will do everything to ensure we don’t miss a historic opportunity to replace this government.”

Meanwhile, Israel Resilience’s separate talks with MK Orly Levy-Abekasis’s Gesher party, which were almost finalized in recent days, fell through Wednesday night, as the Gesher party announced Gantz’s talks with Lapid had effectively nullified the agreement between the two parties.

In the list of 30 candidates originally presented by Israel Resilience on Tuesday, six of the first 23 were from Ya’alon’s Telem party; only five of the top 20 were women. The merging Israel Resilience-Yesh Atid parties were formulating their new joint list of would-be MKs ahead of its presentation later Thursday.

Many Progressives Care About 'Palestine - Not Palestinians

Many liberals and progressives support the Palestinian cause for justifiable reasons. What I find mystifying, however, is how so many liberals can advocate for Palestinians, when the Palestinians' views and behavior are the antithesis of nearly everything that progressives claim to believe in.
While it is convenient to blame Israel's "occupation" for Palestinian behavior, the truth is that the Palestinians are responsible for their own actions. Activists here, however, are unwilling to acknowledge that they have any ability to control their fate.
The Palestinian draft constitution calls for Islam to be the state religion of any new state. And many Palestinians, even those unaffiliated with Hamas, have become increasingly radicalized. For decades, generations of Palestinians have indoctrinated their children about the need to murder Jews -- much of this based on their interpretation of Islam -- and have managed to erase Jews from the history of the area.

NY Times Says Israel Inspired 9/11 Terror Attacks
Recommended by
New York Times claims Osama Bin Laden was motivated by “news coverage of displaced Palestinians.”
https://unitedwithisrael.org/ny-times-says-israel-inspired-9-11-terror-attacks/?utm_source=pushengage&utm_medium=pushnotification&utm_campaign=pushengage
By Ira Stoll, The Algemeiner

The New York Times is suddenly and retroactively blaming Israel for motivating the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, without much evidence to support the claim.

A recent Times news article about deadly attacks in Africa by affiliates of the terrorist group Al Qaeda blames them on President Trump’s decision to obey an American law that required him to move the American embassy in Israel to Jerusalem.

The Times reports, “The attacks came fully seven months after President Trump moved the American Embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, the disputed holy city, which Mr. Trump recognized as the country’s capital. Widely seen as inflaming tensions and as a demonstration of the administration’s favoritism toward Israel in its long conflict with the Palestinians, the move drew condemnation at the time from many corners, including Al Qaeda and other extremist militant organizations.”

The Times mentions that the Jerusalem embassy move “drew condemnation … from many corners” but fails to mention that it also drew praise from many corners, including from the elected government of Israel and many American Jews and Christian Zionists.

But that’s just a mild precursor compared to the Times‘ September 11 revisionism, which comes in a paragraph of the article that immediately follows the description of Jerusalem. The Times reports, “The suffering of the Palestinians has long been an animating cause for Al Qaeda, a stand-in for the victimization of Muslims at the hands of Western powers. Biographies of Osama bin Laden say that as an adolescent, he cried watching news coverage of displaced Palestinians who had been forced off their land.”

These are new claims by the Times, which has previously had rejected them. For example, on September 23, 2001, a former Jerusalem bureau chief of the paper, Serge Schmemann, wrote, “The attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon on Sept. 11 were apparently not about Israel and the Palestinians, at least not directly. … There were no indications that the architects of the attack had American support for Israel as their primary motivation.”

On October 12, 2001, the Times published an op-ed by a former US diplomat, Dennis Ross, headlined, “Bin Laden’s Terrorism Isn’t About The Palestinians.” Ross wrote that any claim that the attack on America “was about the plight of the Palestinians” was as “absurd” as Saddam Hussein’s claim that he had invaded Kuwait in 1990 to help the Palestinians.

Even Arafat Didn’t Buy This Nonsense
Not even the chairman of the Palestine Liberation Organization, Yasser Arafat, bought this nonsense. The Times reported in 2002:

Yasir Arafat, the Palestinian leader, sought to distance himself unequivocally from Al Qaeda in an interview published today, warning Osama bin Laden to stop justifying attacks in the name of Palestinians.

“I’m telling him directly not to hide behind the Palestinian cause,” Mr. Arafat was quoted as saying in The Sunday Times of London, referring to recent statements by Al Qaeda leaders.

“Why is bin Laden talking about Palestine now?” Mr. Arafat said. “He never helped us. He was working in another, completely different area and against our interests.”

That 2002 Times report referred to “Al Qaeda, which has in the past mentioned the Palestinian issue only glancingly.”

For Israel and its friends, it’s a bit of a complicated issue. Associating Al Qaeda with the Palestinian cause could help discredit the Palestinians by associating them and their supporters with an evil terrorist group that is extremely unpopular with Americans across the political spectrum who vividly remember the 2001 attacks. However, the association could also feed the fantasy that if only the Israel-Palestinian issue could be somehow resolved, Al Qaeda and other similar anti-American and anti-Western terrorist groups would immediately surrender and cease their violent attacks.

Anyway, one wonders what “biographies” — not just one, but plural — of Osama Bin Laden the Times is talking about. And one wonders how believable are these improbable Times-cited reports of Bin Laden’s adolescent tears. One biography of Bin Laden is by Michael Scheuer, a former CIA official who has complained of a “fifth column of pro-Israel US citizens” who are “unquestionably enemies of America’s republican experiment.” That erodes his credibility. Another Bin Laden biography, by Jonathan Randal, reports that Bin Laden, “like so many other Saudis, had a long record of indifference about the Palestinian cause.”

Unless the Times itself has independent confirmation or reason to believe this tale about Bin Laden’s tears for the Palestinians, or is willing to fill Times readers in with more detail about the source, it is strange for the newspaper to shift its narrative so dramatically about the “animating cause” of the group behind the deadly attacks on America in 2001.

Choosing What to Quote
One hint of this story’s possible source does come in a previous Times article, from December 2017, which begins, “Osama bin Laden was just 14 when his mother noticed that he had stopped watching his favorite Westerns. She found him fixated instead on news reports about Palestinians, tears streaming down his face as he watched TV in their home in Saudi Arabia. ‘In his teenage years, he was the same nice kid,’ his mother related. ‘But he was more concerned, sad and frustrated by the situation in Palestine,’ she said, according to Lawrence Wright’s account of bin Laden’s trajectory and Al Qaeda’s rise in his book, ‘The Looming Tower.’”

Even that, though, is a truncated account; the full quote from the Wright book has Bin Laden’s mother claiming that her teenage son would “weep” about “the situation in Palestine in particular, and the Arab and Muslim world in general.” The Wright book passage mentions nothing at all about “displaced Palestinians who had been forced off their land.” The rest of the Wright book passage explains also that during the same period, Bin Laden became more religious, with some ascribing the change “to a charismatic Syrian gym teacher at the school who was a member of the Muslim Brothers.”

The Times could just as easily have blamed the gym teacher or the Muslim Brotherhood; instead, it blames the Jewish State of Israel.

Dutch Anti-Israel Activist Promotes BDS on Israeli-made Mobility Scooter
https://unitedwithisrael.org/dutch-anti-israel-activist-promotes-bds-on-israeli-made-mobility-scooter/?
Irony of ironies: A disabled Dutch anti-Israel activist is being ridiculed for promoting BDS while sitting on a state-of-the-art mobile scooter made in the Jewish state.
By United with Israel Staff
Robert-Willem van Norren, a Dutch activist who supports the anti-Israel Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement, is being mocked on social and mainstream media for promoting his cause while sitting comfortably on a first-class mobility scooter made in Israel.

As reported by the Jewish Telegraphic Agency (JTA), van Norren sits for hours on end, in all types of weather, on his scooter in Amsterdam’s Dam Square rallying against the Jewish state. With BDS stickers, Palestinian flags and anti-Israel posters, he shows up faithfully three times a week.

The scooter, according to JTA, is the Breeze S3 model of the Kalnoit brand, designed and assembled in Kibbutz Afikim in the Jordan Valley.

Van Norren, who, JTA says, “enjoys displaying a poster of the Israeli flag with a cockroach or a swastika over the Star of David symbol,” was photographed in July on a different scooter but has since upgraded to the more advanced, Israel-made bike.

Pro-Israel activists in the Netherlands have been mocking van Norren and well as his BDS-promoting buddy, Simon Vrouwe, who, the JTA report says, was recently photographed buying lunch at a Israeli falafel shop was wearing a vest reading “boycott Israel.”

The BDS movement promotes financial, academic and cultural boycotts against Israel, ostensibly as a nonviolent struggle against the so-called “Israeli occupation.” Critics say its activities are a modern form of anti-Semitism and that its true objective is to destroy the State of Israel.

BDS Activists at Syracuse U Denounce Zionism, Mock Violence Against Jews
Syracuse University was called to stop offering credits for internships with BDS group.

By Shiri Moshe, The Algemeiner

Syracuse University is being urged to cease granting college credits to students who intern with an activist group that promotes the Palestinian-led boycott, divestment, and sanctions (BDS) campaign.

The Syracuse Peace Council (SPC) is listed as one of 14 “internship sites” available to students majoring in Writing Studies, Rhetoric, and Composition, each of which offers three credits and a letter grade.

The calls come in the wake of a gathering hosted by the SPC’s Justice for Palestine Committee on January 22 at ArtRage Gallery in Syracuse, which was attended by more than two dozen people, among them Campus Reform correspondent and SU student Justine Murray.

Activists at the event — titled “Palestine: Behind the Wall” — repeatedly denounced Zionism, a diverse movement that supports the Jewish people’s right to national self-determination, as a racist ideology.

During a one-on-one conversation with Murray, SPC member Julia Ganson — a former program manager at SU — was recorded agreeing when asked whether young kids should be taught about the US-designated terrorist organization Hamas and all “the good work they do.”

“I think so, yeah, yeah,” Ganson said of the Gaza-based Islamist group. “We’ve made it into this very simple thing, you know, Hamas is a terrorist group so we shouldn’t have anything to do with them. They have done a lot of good for Palestinians.”

In another instance, speaker Pat Carmeli told the audience that according to author and former academic Norman Finkelstein’s reading of international law, Palestinians “actually have a right to use violence … they have a right to fight their oppressors.”

“He said Israel on the other hand, who is often charged with using excessive force, according to international law — as oppressors, as illegal occupiers — they have actually no right to use violence,” she shared.

Avigyle Carmeli — who, Murray told The Algemeiner, was introduced as a member of the Justice for Palestine Committee board, and whose relationship to Pat could not be confirmed — separately told Murray once, when asked whether violence against Zionists is justified, that while she is “not a violent person, and I don’t really condone violence … I think that fighting a racist ideology and sometimes with violence might be the answer for some people.”

A Zionist State ‘Just Really Wrong’
Murray also asked Avigyle, this time before other attendees, to dispute Zionist assertions that Israel is the only Middle Eastern country where people who identify as Jewish can live openly and safely, specifically by naming an alternative.

“What is a place that’s safe for Palestinians,” Avigyle retorted, as unidentified audience members laughingly answered Murray by offering locations such as “Syracuse,” “Brooklyn,” and “Florida.”

“I think Zionism needs to end, there can’t be a Zionist state, it’s just really wrong,” Avigyle added.

Murray said she was filled with a “feeling of dread” after witnessing the room erupt with laugher and “mockery towards the Jewish people” while discussing where Jews could live “without the fear of hatred and violence.”

“There is something frightening about seeing a crowd of civilized, students and adults instantly reaching for stereotypes, specifically in their references to Brooklyn and Florida, when discussing the threats faced by Jews around the world,” she told The Algemeiner.

“Historically, this is the exact type of derision used by purportedly civilized societies in the past” when they embraced anti-Semitism.

“One has to imagine that this same group would never use such mockery, derision and hate-filled laughter when discussing other minority groups and the troubles they face around the world,” she said.

Murray urged the administration to nix the SPC’s designation as an approved internship site, pointing to the political nature of its work.

“If it’s not allowing students to earn credits for being members for campaign organizations and political activists, then it should not allow students to earn credits for this clearly political, activist organization,” she said.

Miriam Elman, associate professor of political science at SU and the new executive director of the anti-BDS Academic Engagement Network, likewise argued against granting students course credits for interning with the SPC.

The Justice for Palestine Committee, which in April was involved in the disruption of an on-campus speech by an Israeli diplomat, “has been engaged in a troubling pattern of virulent anti-Israel, and in some cases antisemitic, activism that is betraying its mission and legacy,” Elman told The Algemeiner.

“At a time when anti-Semitism is growing at an alarming rate in our country and on our campuses, particularly in New York State, Syracuse University cannot ignore that its students are receiving course credit for interning with an organization that tolerates offensive rhetoric toward Jews, provides a platform for anti-Semites, and justifies — based on a misinformed reading of international law — violence toward Israelis,” Elman said.

“The statements made about Israel and the Israeli-Arab conflict during this videotaped presentation were demonstrably false, but its the explicit hatred expressed for Zionist Jews along with remarks supporting violence and terror organizations that are even more disturbing,” she added.

Her concern was echoed by Sarah Levin, executive director of Jews Indigenous to the Middle East and North Africa (JIMENA), which works to raise awareness of the anti-Semitic violence and persecution sustained by Jewish communities in the region both before and following Israel’s establishment.

“When groups like the Syracuse Peace Council who purport to be champions of human rights not only dismiss, but mock the very real ethnic cleansing and dispossession of close to one million indigenous Jews from the Middle East and North Africa, they prove themselves to be not only anti-Zionist, but extremely ignorant and biased against Jews,” Levin said.

“Rather than promoting equitable solutions and relationship building efforts between Jews and Arabs in the Middle East, these groups care only about vilifying Israel and its supporters; thus exposing themselves as misguided at best and anti-Semitic at worst,” she warned.

SU and SPC did not immediately respond to The Algemeiner‘s requests for comment.

Bibi’s final warning to Iran
By Leah Rosenberg -  February 17, 2019 1709 0
Bibi’s warning to Iran is loud and clear. But how will Iran respond? Will they continue to fund terrorism and leave Iranians in despair? Or can they change?

The Warning to Iran
Bibi has tried time and time again to warn the Iranian regime. Iran was once a vibrant and modern country. But what has happened over the last 40 years since the Islamic revolution is just sad. Iranians are living in poverty. Water is not drinkable. Basic necessities are non-existent. The people of Iran are suffering beyond what anyone can imagine. But the regime does not care. They have not provided for their people. They only provide billions upon billions of dollars to fund terrorism. The Iranian regime values death over life. And with that mindset, nothing can change.

Israel is Not Intimidated by Iran
Bibi has said it: Israel is not intimidated by Iran. They are aware of the threat, yet not fearful. Whatever Israel has to do to protect itself, they will do. And if Iran wants to take that risk to find out what the consequences will be, they will end up regretting their decision. But there can be a different ending to the story.

Bibi has offered to help the people of Iran. He has given messages of hope and peace. But the regime has refused to accept it. Peace is not in their vocabulary. How much more can Israel do? They have tried the peaceful route. Ultimately, evil will not prevail. And sooner or later, the Iranian regime will realize that.

No stability, No Mideast Peace ‘Without Confronting Iran,’ Pompeo Tells Netanyahu

Netanyahu noted that “an Israeli prime minister and the foreign ministers of leading Arab countries stood together and spoke with unusual force, clarity and unity against the common threat of the Iranian regime.”
By JNS
S Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said on Thursday that there cannot be Middle East peace without combating Iran.
“You can’t achieve stability in the Middle East without confronting Iran,” Pompeo said to reporters alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the summit in Warsaw regarding the volatile region. “It’s just not possible.”
“There are malign influences in Lebanon, Yemen, Syria and Iraq,” continued Pompeo. “The three H’s: the Houthis, Hamas and Hezbollah. These are real threats. There are others as well.”
“But you can’t get peace in the Middle East without pushing back against Iran,” he added.
Netanyahu: ‘Historical Turning Point”
Netanyahu, speaking with Pompeo, labeled the summit a “historical turning point.”
“An Israeli prime minister and the foreign ministers of leading Arab countries stood together and spoke with unusual force, clarity and unity against the common threat of the Iranian regime,” he said.
“This marks a change and an important understanding in what threatens our future, and what we have to do to secure it and the possibilities of cooperation that extend beyond security to every realm of life for the peoples of the Middle East,” added the prime minister.
Along with addressing the Iranian threat, issues that were addressed at the summit, called “The Ministerial Conference to Promote a Future of Peace and Security in the Middle East,” included, but were not limited to, solving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and ending the crisis in Yemen.

Netanyahu in Warsaw: For Arab leaders, Iran threat more urgent than Palestinians
At end of summit, PM says 4 Arab foreign ministers spoke out to back Israel’s right to defend itself against Iranian aggression; Arab states ‘half open’ to warmer ties with Israel

WARSAW, Poland — Four Arab foreign ministers who spoke at the Warsaw Middle East summit affirmed Israel’s right to defend itself against Iranian aggression, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Thursday.

Speaking to reporters shortly after he left the event, most of which was closed to the press, the prime minister hailed the very fact that 10 Arab foreign ministers agreed to share a conference stage with an Israeli leader as the “breaking of a taboo.”

“Four out of five Arab foreign ministers who addressed the conference [on Thursday] spoke strongly and clearly against Iran, saying exactly what I’ve been saying for years,” Netanyahu said. “They were as clear as possible about the issue, and Israel’s right to defend itself against Iranian aggression.”

Netanyahu did not specify which four Arab foreign ministers spoke out.

Asked when and how further Arab states would fully normalize relations with Israel, which has peace treaties only with Jordan and Egypt, Netanyahu replied that what happened in Warsaw over the last 24 hours shows that they are already “half-open.”

“Here you have Arab foreign ministers, who say that Israelis have the right to defense themselves, and don’t say it in secret but on a stage with 60 other countries present,” he said.

“It was a very important meeting and I don’t think we exaggerate its importance,” he added. “There is great importance in that they sit in one room, full of cameras” to discuss the Middle East, he said, noting that it was clear to the Arab representatives that, even though most of the conference proceedings were held behind closed doors, it would become public knowledge that they sat together with the Israeli prime minister.

The Palestinian issue came up during the conference, Netanyahu said, but added that the Arab officials preferred to focus their remarks on Iran.

“Once the Palestinian issue took center stage. Now they say that first and foremost the Iranian issue needs to be dealt with,” Netanyahu said. In fact, the Arab officials who addressed the summit all agreed that an Israeli-Palestinian peace cannot be achieved as long as the Iranian problem is not addressed, he said.

In an unprecedented interview with Israeli television on Wednesday night, the former senior Saudi official, Prince Turki bin Faisal Al Saud, said Netanyahu was deceiving the Israeli public when claiming that Israeli ties with the wider Arab world can be warmed without the Palestinian issue being solved. On the sidelines of the conference on Thursday, meanwhile, Bahrain’s foreign minister told The Times of Israel that Israel-Bahrain relations would be established “eventually.”

On Wednesday here, Netanyahu met with Oman’s foreign minister. At the opening session of the conference on Thursday he was seated next to the foreign minister of Yemen, and interacted briefly with him.

Netanyahu himself delivered remarks at the opening ceremony at Warsaw’s historic Royal Castle on Wednesday evening. The fact that the Arab delegates did not walk out symbolized “the breaking of a taboo,” the prime minister said.

Secret meetings between Israeli leaders and Arab have been going on for years, he told reporters in a briefing at the city’s new Jewish museum, where earlier in the day he laid a wreath at a monument honoring the victims of the 1943 Warsaw Ghetto uprising.

“Today, 60 foreign minister were at the conference, and they all knew what this conference was about,” he said. “And this wasn’t a conference about decertification. There is a change here. It expressed itself in things that were said, and things that will be done. This is not happening by chance. Rather, it’s the result of a clear policy that I have been leading for years.”

Officials from 60 countries attended the so-called Ministerial to Promote a Future of Peace and Security in the Middle East, including foreign ministers and deputy foreign ministers from Oman, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Egypt, Kuwait and Jordan.

“They all spoke about Iran. They mentioned the Palestinian issue, saying it needs to be solved, but also said that it won’t be solved as long as Iranian aggression continues,” Netanyahu said.

Arab Leader Lauds ‘New Era’ in Relations with Israel at Mideast Summit
https://unitedwithisrael.org/arab-leader-embraces-netanyahu-lauds-new-era-in-relations-at-mideast-summit/?

Israel’s prime minister says he plans on working with Arab countries at a U.S.-backed Mideast conference in Warsaw to focus on the “common interest” of combating the Iranian threat.

By: Associated Press and United with Israel Staff

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu received a warm welcome from Oman’s foreign minister, Yusuf bin Alawi, at a major Mideast conference in Poland that started Wednesday.

The summit provides Netanyahu an opportunity to showcase Israel’s improved relations with Gulf Arab nations.

Several Gulf dignitaries are expected to attend in a potential show of force against uninvited Iran, with the Palestinians urging a boycott of the conference.

The United States and Poland are sponsoring the conference in Warsaw, which is officially aimed at promoting peace and security in Mideast, but appears to be focused on isolating Iran.

Iran has denounced the gathering as an American anti-Iran “circus.” Russia has said it will not attend, and the European Union’s foreign policy chief, Federica Mogherini, is also skipping the event.

For the Trump administration, it is a high-profile occasion to gather all its Middle East allies. For Poland, it offers a chance to strengthen ties with Washington as it seeks greater protection from Russia.

But the real winner could be Netanyahu, who has repeatedly stated that Israel has clandestinely developed good relations with several Arab states, despite a lack of official ties. Bringing such contacts out into the open marks a major diplomatic coup, putting a seal of approval on his goal of improving Israel’s standing in the world.

‘A New Era’
Netanyahu’s office released a video Wednesday showing him meeting Oman’s foreign minister, Yusuf bin Alawi. Netanyahu, who visited Oman last October, called the invitation to the Gulf state “courageous” and said “many” countries are following Oman’s lead, hinting that additional meetings would take place during the conference.

Bin Alawi said people in the Middle East have “suffered a lot” because they stick to the past and said Wednesday’s meeting reflected a “new era.”

Netanyahu added, “The courageous decision of Sultan Qaboos to invite me to Oman is changing the world. It’s pointing the way for many others to do what you said, not to be stuck in the past, but to seize the future. Many are following this lead, and may I say, including in this conference.”

He continued, “I thank you for this positive policy that can lead to peace and prosperity for all. I want to thank you on behalf of the people of Israel, and I allow myself to say on behalf of many people in the Middle East.”

Before departing for Poland, Netanyahu told reporters on Tuesday the focus of the conference will be Iran, an issue he said “unites Israel, the United States, many countries in the world.”

Danny Danon, Israel’s U.N. ambassador, said his private contacts with Arab officials are far warmer than what is said in public.

“As of now, they are already cooperating with us,” he told reporters in Jerusalem recently. “We ask them to recognize us and not to be ashamed for using our technology or our defense systems.”

Israel has signed peace accords with Egypt and Jordan and ties that have long lingered in the shadows with other Arab nations have begun to emerge, as shared concerns about Iran have overshadowed the Palestinian issue in recent years.

Days after Netanyahu’s visit to Oman, two of his Cabinet ministers headed to the United Arab Emirates last fall for a security conference and to cheer on an Israeli delegation at a judo tournament — where the Israeli anthem was played after an Israeli competitor won gold.

Backdoor Ties
Saudi Arabia, long rumored to have backdoor ties to Israel, lifted a decades-long ban on the use of its airspace for flights to Israel last spring. The leaders of the small Gulf nation of Bahrain have also expressed willingness to normalize relations.

Gulf Arab states have given less voice to their traditional antipathy toward Israel as they have grown increasingly fearful of Iran over its involvement in various regional conflicts and its support for various armed terror groups. Getting closer to Israel also helps them to curry favor in Washington.

The foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia and the UAE are also scheduled to attend and meet with U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. It is unclear what their level of engagement will be with the Israeli delegation.

Netanyahu recently visited the Muslim-majority African nation of Chad to officially restore relations after 50 years and promised there would be more such visits and announcements soon.

Anti-Israel Congresswoman to Speak Alongside Activist Who Praises Killing Jews
https://unitedwithisrael.org/omar-to-speak-alongside-activist-who-praises-killing-jews/?
Despite accusations of anti-Semitism, Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) is due to speak at a fundraising event alongside a senior charity official who has published social media posts praising the killing of Jews.

By: Sam Westrop, Islamist Watch, Middle East Forum

Islamic Relief USA is hosting a fundraising dinner for aid to Yemen on Feb. 23. Omar is due to speak alongside senior Islamic Relief USA official Yousef Abdallah, who was widely criticized in 2017 after the Middle East Forum found that he had expressed violently anti-Semitic ideas on his social-media accounts.

Abdallah, who serves as Islamic Relief USA’s “operations manager,” shared a “very beautiful” modernized version of a Palestinian folk story about a resistance hero named Zharif al-Tawl, who took revenge against Jewish “gangs” that had purportedly attacked a Palestinian village by providing guns to “kill more than 20 jews” and “fire rockets at Tel Aviv.”

Other posts referred to Jews as “stinking,” and claimed that “the Jews put the outside wall of Al Aqsa [the mosque in Jerusalem] on fire.”
Abdallah also “Liked” a comment on his Facebook post that calls on God to wreak “revenge on the damned rapists Zionists. O God they are no challenge for you. Shake the Earth beneath their feet and destroy them as you destroyed the peoples of ʿĀd, Thamud and Lot.”

And in 2014, after Republican politician Chris Christie apologized for referring to the West Bank and Gaza as “occupied,” Abdallah wrote: “Christie kneels down on his knees before the Jewish lords and says ‘I am sorry.’ Only money makes stuff like this happen. Mr. Christie. Muslims should remember this very well.”

Islamic Relief USA has previously defended its senior officials’ anti-Semitism, claiming that their comments had been mistranslated. However, Islamic Relief USA refused to provide alternative translations and refused to comment on the fact that some of the anti-Semitism was expressed plainly in English.

Founded in 1984, the Islamic Relief franchise is managed by Islamic Relief Worldwide, its headquarters in the United Kingdom. Today, Islamic Relief is one of the largest Islamic charities in the world, but the franchise is increasingly facing questions from governments across the globe about its connections to extremism and terror.

Media Equates Murdered Israeli Teen with Violent Gaza Youth
Recommended by
While the murdered Israeli girl’s name, Ori, means “My light” in Hebrew, international reporting on a murdered Jew once again descended into total immoral darkness.
By Daniel Krygier, United with Israel
The brutal murder of Israeli teenager Ori Ansbacher has one again emphasized the vast moral gulf separating civilized Israel from a barbaric neighboring culture that embraces lethal hatred. While the murdered Israeli girl’s name, Ori, means “My light” in Hebrew, international reporting on a murdered Jew once again descended into total immoral darkness.
The Associated Press, for example, is one of the world’s leading news outlets. It went the extra mile to dehumanize Ori Ansbacher by stressing that she hailed from the Israeli “settlement” of Tekoa. There were also no photos of the murdered Israeli girl accompanying the report. Instead, AP displayed the picture of relatives of the Gazan youth Hassan Shalabi who was reportedly killed on Friday in clashes with the Israeli military. AP outrageously reduced Ansbacher to a faceless Jewish “settler”, apparently unworthy of any sympathy.
By contrast, Shalabi’s family was featured mourning on the photo. The news agency stressed that the Gazan teenager hailed from the Nuseirat “refugee camp.” Few, if any, international journalists ask themselves how Shalabi can be a “refugee” when both he, his parents and probably also his grandparents were born and raised in Gaza. This is nothing else than pandering to deeply ingrained anti-Israeli propaganda that whitewashes truth.

Israeli police arrested a Palestinian suspect for the brutal killing of an Israeli teenage girl whose body was discovered on Thursday.
By World Israel News Staff
The Israeli police announced Saturday that a Palestinian suspect was arrested in Ramallah in connection with the murder of 19-year-old Israeli Ori Ansbacher, whose body was found in the woods near Jerusalem on Thursday with stab wounds.
She was buried Friday in Tekoa. Her funeral was attended by hundreds of mourners.
According to Israeli law enforcement, 29-year-old Palestinian Arfiyeh Arafat encountered Ansbacher south of Jerusalem and perpetrated a brutal attack on her, ultimately killing the Israeli teen.
While most details of the investigation are being withheld from the public under a court-imposed gag order, officials disclosed that Arafat was residing illegally in Israel, had served time in Israeli prison, and left his home in Hebron on Thursday with a knife, Times of Israel reported.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu commented on Saturday evening, “For myself and for the entire people of Israel I would like to express condolences to the Ansbacher family and to support them during their terrible grief.”

UN Demonizes Israel in 7 Reports, Ignores Major Human Rights Abusers
Not a single report is expected to address the alleged internment of some one million Uyghur and Turkic Muslims in isolated Chinese camps, despite the pleas of multiple human-rights organizations.
By: JNS.org
Of a list of 79 reports to be dealt with at the upcoming 40th U.N. Human Rights Council meeting, seven will be dedicated to denouncing the State of Israel.

Not a single report is expected to address the alleged internment of some 1 million Uyghur and Turkic Muslims in isolated Chinese camps, despite the pleas of multiple human-rights organizations.

Additional reports will examine Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka and Tunisia, with two reports each for Iran and Syria, both of which are major human rights abusers.

A list of resolutions up for vote is expected to be published soon, with U.N. Watch executive director Hillel Neuer telling The Jerusalem Post that five resolutions against Israel are anticipated.

The UNHRC has yet to publish a list of the resolutions its 47 member states plan to vote on, including those on Israel. Most of its resolutions are based on reports.

U.N. Watch executive director Hillel Neuer estimates that there would likely be about five resolutions against Israel.

Among the reports are one about the blacklisting of businesses who do business with Jews residing in Judea, Samaria, eastern Jerusalem and the Golan Heights, and another about weekly riots conducted by Hamas-led Gaza Arabs on Israel’s border under the auspices of the “March of Return.”
