God forgive me’: Joe Biden expresses regret for not attacking Donald Trump sooner

‘God forgive me’: Joe Biden expresses regret for not attacking Donald Trump sooner
Marc Nozell / CCL
Joe Biden wants to be forgiven.

The former vice president asked for divine grace on Saturday night for not attacking President Donald Trump sooner.

“Barack [Obama] and I agreed we would be quiet for the first year to let the new administration get up and running,” Biden told an audience of 3,000 at an annual dinner in Washington for the Human Rights Campaign, one of the country’s biggest LGBTQ advocacy groups. “God forgive me.”

Biden: “Forgive me” for not attacking Trump
Biden, who is rumored to be preparing for a presidential run in 2020, made the sign of the cross over his chest as he asked for reconciliation for not criticizing Trump sooner. He went on to apologize for not supporting gay marriage earlier.

“It was late,” Biden said. “It was very late.”

Biden said that Trump’s response to the deadly riots in Charlottesville, VA last summer, where white nationalists clashed with counter-protesters, compelled him to speak up. Trump was criticized at the time for saying both sides were at fault.

“We are in a fight for America’s soul and we have leaders who at the time, when that occurred, making a comparison and said there were good people in both groups,” Biden said. “What has become of us? Our silence is complicity.”

“Dregs of society”
Biden went on to call out Trump and his supporters in an anti-Trump broadside, in which the former vice president called Trump a “bully” who is using his platform to empower forces of “intolerance.”

“The president uses the White House as a literal, literal bully pulpit, callously exerting his power over those who have little or none,” Biden said.

He also insinuated that Trump supporters are “the dregs of society.”

“Despite losing in the courts, and in the court of opinion, these forces of intolerance remain determined to undermine and roll back the progress you all have made,” he said. “This time they — not you — have an ally in the White House. This time they have an ally. They’re a small percentage of the American people — virulent people, some of them the dregs of society.”

Is it time for Joe Biden to step away from politics?

2020 run?
Biden, who has been stumping for the Democrats ahead of November’s midterms, appeared to be prepping a presidential run with his anti-Trump remarks at the Saturday dinner. Biden’s wife, Jill, also took shots at Trump while introducing her husband, saying that they want to “pick a fight” with bullies — another hint at a presidential run.

“There is nothing that makes either of us more angry than a bully,” she said. “There’s nothing that’s more unfair or unjust than people using their power to try to make other people feel small, to tell them who they are or what they are capable of, to say their identity doesn’t belong.”

Biden has said that he’ll decide whether to run by January 2019. Some polls show Biden leading Trump in a hypothetical match-up, but Trump has said he “dreams” about running against Biden, who the president says he would crush easily.

Breakdown: Obama Stutters, Mentions Self 79 Times at Rally

I’ve always been stunned that Donald Trump is the first president the media’s called a narcissist. Without opining on whether or not our 45th head of state is obsessed with himself, I can say with absolute certainty that our 44th president definitely was.

Barack Obama loves him some Barack Obama. We saw this numerous times during his presidency, including most odiously at a memorial service for five slain Dallas police officers which the president turned into an advertisement for himself.

The former president is back on the campaign trail, and he’s not missing any opportunities to talk about his favorite subject.

Take a speech in Cleveland, where the president mentioned himself repeatedly. He also had an odd habit of stuttering — something the American Mirror noticed when they put together a video of the president’s remarks.

Obama was in Ohio in support of Richard Cordray, the Democrats’ candidate for governor there, as well as lieutenant governor candidate Betty Sutton.

TRENDING: Watch: Tucker’s Response to Avenatti Insult May Be Best TV You’ll See All Month

“Let, let, let, let, let me just say these, these are friends of mine,” Obama told the audience of Cordray and Sutton. “I admit I am biased.”

Well, okay, fair enough. Everyone is entitled to mention themselves once or twice during a speech, particularly if they’ve been president.

However, he kept on saying that they were both a “friend of mine” and that “I have worked with them.”

Do you think Barack Obama is too focused on himself?
Yes No

Of Cordray, he noted that the candidate “had my back even when some of you couldn’t pronounce my name.”

Yep, we’re still going with that quip in 2018. I understand that Obama’s a dad, but that doesn’t give him a pass on constantly making culturally loaded dad jokes.

Hecklers, too, were about him: “I always miss having at least one heckler up in here,” he said. “I can never really hear what they’re saying, but I appreciate the exercise of free speech.”

And in the “truer words were never spoken” category: “I know that sometimes, when I was president, even when I was a candidate, folks would say, ‘Barack, you’re talking too long.’

‘You’re like too professorial, you’re explaining stuff too much,’” he said. I think that was the excuse they may have given him, but that probably wasn’t the reason that he was being called out for talking too long.

RELATED: Don Jr. Goes Off on Brainless Obama Supporters as He Touts Roaring Economy

The real answer probably has to do with how often Obama likes to pontificate on himself. As the American Mirror pointed out about the stuttering Cleveland address, “Obama talked about himself 79 times during the roughly 40 minute speech, saying ‘I’ 66 times, ‘Me’ 5 times, ‘My’ 5 times, and ‘Mine’ 3 times.”

That sounds about right. During his big speech at the University of Illinois, he mentioned himself over 100 times during the 64-minute address. At least that time, he was accepting an award dedicated to him. This time he was actually campaigning for other candidates. When you’re doing that, it helps if the focus is on them. It also helps if you don’t stammer through it.

Report: Federal Prosecutors Weighing Criminal Charges Against Former Obama White House Counsel
By Jack Davis
September 15, 2018 at 10:39am
https://www.westernjournal.com/report-federal-prosecutors-weighing-criminal-charges-former-obama-white-house-counsel
An attorney who served as White House counsel in the Obama administration is under investigation for his role in dealings linked to the case against Paul Manafort, according to a report from CNN, citing sources “familiar with the matter.”
VIDEO
Manafort, who briefly served as Donald Trump’s campaign manager, was the target of an investigation by special counsel Robert Mueller.

Manafort pleaded guilty on Friday to conspiring to defraud the United States and conspiring to obstruct justice, both having to do with dealings in Ukraine that took place years before his involvement with the Trump campaign.

CNN reported Friday that attorney Greg Craig, who was White House counsel from 2009 to 2010, is under scrutiny over whether he lobbied for Ukrainian leaders without registering as a foreign agent.

The investigation also touches on the firm of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP, where Craig was a partner at the time.

TRENDING: Rising Socialist Candidate’s Bizarre Past Exposed Days Before Election

Craig’s actions were taken after he left the White House, according to the report.

Connections between Manafort, the firm and Craig were revealed in filings in the Manafort case.

Craig’s attorney William Taylor III said his client did nothing wrong.

“Greg Craig was not required to register under the Foreign Agents Registration Act,” Taylor said in a statement, Law.com reported.

Does this show how deep corruption is in Washington?
Yes No
Craig himself would not comment on the investigation.

This is not the first controversial case for Taylor, who represented Fusion GPS, the firm involved in the production of a dossier of discredited claims against Trump.

NBC News reported that Craig was the supervisor of Alex van der Zwaan, a Skadden lawyer who has pleaded guilty to lying to prosecutors and about communications concerning the Ukrainian politician for whom Manafort was also working.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office and Justice Department have not yet decided if they will file charges against either Craig or the law firm, CNN reported.

The law firm was paid more than $4.6 million, which Manafort sought to hide, the court filing said.

Bloomberg reported that the law firm is also facing questions of conflict of interest in the issues surrounding former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko.

Skadden lawyers, which would have included Craig,  may have violated their ethical responsibilities through their actions, said Rebecca Roiphe, who provides instruction on legal ethics at New York Law School.

“Skadden could face some problems with disciplinary authorities in D.C., assuming this is as bad and as baseless as described,” she said.

New York Times Spreads Fake News About Nikki Haley’s $52,701 Curtains
NEW YORK, NY - JANUARY 02: U.S. ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley speaks during a brief press availability at United Nations headquarters, January 2, 2018 in New York City. She discussed protests in Iran and the North Korea nuclear threat. (Photo by Drew Angerer/Getty Images)
https://www.breitbart.com/big-journalism/2018/09/14/new-york-times-spreads-fake-news-about-nikki-haleys-52701-curtains/?
14 Sep 20184,572
A New York Times headline attacks UN Ambassador Nikki Haley’s extravagant curtains,  even though the Obama administration ordered them in 2016.
The fake news headline snarks, “Nikki Haley’s View of New York Is Priceless. Her Curtains? $52,701.”
In the first paragraph, the far-left Times goes on to attack Haley and President Trump’s State Department because they “spent $52,701 last year buying customized and mechanized curtains for the picture windows in Nikki R. Haley’s official residence as ambassador to the United Nations, just as the department was undergoing deep budget cuts and had frozen hiring.”
The word “spent” is crucial, however, because after five whole paragraphs describing Haley’s “spectacular views” in her leased $58,000 a month “full-floor penthouse, with handsome hardwood floors covering large open spaces stretching nearly 6,000 square feet,” the Times at long last reveals the truth… …

The Obama administration ordered those $52,701 curtains.
What’s more the Obama administration chose the $58,000 per month penthouse.

Slid quietly into the Times piece is this: “the State Department decided in 2016 to find a new home for its top New York diplomat because of security concerns.”

That of course is TimesSpeak for, “The Obama administration chose these $58,000 a month living quarters for a UN Ambassador they were sure would be working for Hillary Clinton.”

You see, when Obama spends the money it is about “security concerns.”

Nevertheless, the anti-Trump Times twice more dishonestly describes the curtains as “Ms. Haley’s curtains” and goes on to compare them unfavorably to other reports of government excess while lamenting the cutting of State Department staffers — even though the cutting of personnel is the most efficient way to save taxpayer money and is usually where most of the bloat can be found.

Some will argue this is not fake news because the Times does finally report the truth in the sixth paragraph. This defense cannot hold water in a business where everyone knows the headline is the story.

If the Times did not want to make it sound as though Haley is the extravagant one, if the Times wanted to do a story on State Department “extravagance,” it could have done so with an honest headline, as opposed to one deliberately intended to mislead readers.

This is why Americans mistrust the establishment media.

Even though the facts lay every penny of this extravagance on the Obama administration, it is the Trump White House that gets the punished. This is classic bias, classic fake news, and the norm when it comes to Republicans, as opposed to the exception.

UPDATE: The Times was forced to backtrack on its indefensible story and added this editor’s note, but only after the fake news had been up for hours:

Editors’ Note: September 14, 2018

An earlier version of this article and headline created an unfair impression about who was responsible for the purchase in question. While Nikki R. Haley is the current ambassador to the United Nations, the decision on leasing the ambassador’s residence and purchasing the curtains was made during the Obama administration, according to current and former officials. The article should not have focused on Ms. Haley, nor should a picture of her have been used. The article and headline have now been edited to reflect those concerns, and the picture has been removed.

Conway Shames Obama, Uses His Own Words Against Him To Praise Trump’s Economy
BY CILLIAN ZEAL
SEPTEMBER 11, 2018 AT 5:54AM
https://www.westernjournal.com/ct/conway-shames-obama-uses-words-praise-trumps-economy/?utm_source=push&utm_medium=conservativetribune&utm_content=2018-09-11&utm_campaign=manualpost
So, as you no doubt know by now, former President Barack Obama gave a speech on Friday, and everything in Trump’s America is awful, except for the economy.
And you know who’s responsible for that, according to Barack Obama? Barack Obama, of course.
Rather hilariously, he’s about the only Democrat who admits the economy is in good shape these days — something that White House counselor Kellyanne Conway used to troll Obama and his Democrat Party during an appearance on Fox News Monday morning.
During the interview, Conway touted the economy as something that the media doesn’t particularly like addressing.
“You can’t argue with the jobs, the labor, the wage numbers, the explosive deregulation that’s happening, the growth that’s happening,” Conway said. “We were promised a global recession (when Trump was elected). We got prosperity.”

TRENDING: Democratic Socialist Makes It Behind Trump at Rally, Secret Service Intervenes
And then she noted the great irony of it all.
“Hey, by the way, I was so excited this weekend! Did you notice?” Conway said. “We finally found a Democrat who thinks the economy is doing well under President Trump: President Obama.”
Conway thought the one-liner was good enough to put onto Twitter.

After a long period of silence, Barack Obama expressed his exasperation. “When you hear how great the economy’s doing right now, let’s just remember when this recovery started." https://nyti.ms/2QizhOr

And it was a pretty good line, considering how exasperated Obama seemed to be about it at his Friday event:
“I mention this just so when you hear how great the economy is doing right now, let’s just remember when this recovery started,” Obama said after touting his putative economic achievements, according to a transcript of the speech from Vox.

“I’m glad it’s continued, but when you hear about this economic miracle that’s been going on, when the job numbers come out, monthly job numbers and suddenly Republicans are saying it’s a miracle, I have to kind of remind them, actually, those job numbers are the same as they were in 2015 and 2016 and — anyway. I digress.”

Funny, though — he doesn’t seem to have checked with his party’s own messaging, because just a few months ago, everything was a mess.
Do you think the economy’s boom is going to help the GOP in the midterm elections?
Yes No

“May’s jobs report shows that strong employment numbers mean little to the families hit with soaring new costs under the Republicans’ watch,” House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said in a statement back in June, warning that “the president’s reckless policies are exploding gas prices, wiping out the few meager gains that some families should have received from the GOP tax scam, as wages remain stagnant.”

And no, the economic numbers weren’t the same back in 2015 and 2016. While the economy was showing an anemic recovery, it still was nothing compared to what we’ve seen in the Trump presidency.

Also, remember that when the economic news wasn’t so rosy in the United States under the Obama administration, and unemployment was headed upward, it was all the fault of the Bush administration.

Now that the long, slow bounce of the dead cat is gone and the pace of economic growth is finally accelerating and hitting pre-recession levels, do you know who’s responsible? Barack Obama.

However, everything else Obama doesn’t like — particularly racial division and political incivility — remains the fault of Donald J. Trump.

Fox News host diagnoses Barack Obama with ‘Trump Derangement Syndrome’

Fox News host Pete Hegseth believes he’s figured out what is wrong with former President Barack Obama.

During a Fox & Friends segment, Hegseth stated: “I am not a doctor … but Obama has Trump Derangement Syndrome.”
Divisive Speech
WATCH https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-8EQ37fl10&ab_channel=FoxandFriends

While constantly giving divisive speeches, Obama is — oddly enough — calling for unity in America.

With the rhetoric that spews from his mouth on a daily basis, there is simply no way any conservative — Trump supporter or not — could get behind him in support of a Democrat candidate.

As Hegseth pointed out, Obama does not even have the courtesy to address Trump as the president.

Failed Legacy
The fact is, Obama is upset because Trump is undoing what little legacy Obama had while president.

That legacy is being undone because most Americans were unhappy with those policies.

Obama continues to tout the good old days, as though his time in the White House was good for the country.

What we really saw was the country teetering dangerously close to socialism — but President Trump put the brakes on that from his very first day in office.

Democrats are still working off the same agenda they were in 2016, only now they have added Trump impeachment to it.

People are starting to realize the most important items on that agenda — including impeaching Trump, rolling back his tax cuts, and opening up borders limitlessly — don’t actually do anything for the average American.

What exactly is the benefit for an American citizen if they vote for Democrats?

Does Obama Have Trump Derangement Syndrome?
Yes
No
The fact is: the only people truly being moved by this agenda are young bleeding hearts that are still tapping Mommy and Daddy’s bank account to pay their bills.
Keep talking Obama, because every word out of your mouth is driving thousands of voters over to the Republican side of the ticket.

During his speech at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign on Friday,  in which he reportedly referred to himself 102 times, former President Barack Obama attempted to lob a grenade at President Donald Trump regarding a free press.
Too bad for him it blew up in his hand.

Trump criticizes the “fake news” media, but it was Obama’s administration that took real, serious steps against reporters who turned up stories the administration didn’t like.
Judging by the reaction to Obama’s speech on Friday, a lot of people haven’t forgtotten it.

Bitter Barack Obama Breaks Months of Silence to Trash Donald Trump

Former President Barack Obama broke his promise to stay quiet after leaving office, condemning the path of the United States under President Donald Trump.

“Just a glance at recent headlines should tell you that this moment really is different. The stakes really are higher. The consequences of any of us sitting on the sidelines are more dire,” he said on Friday.

Obama acknowledged that he wished to address the country as a “fellow citizen” not an “ex-president” but said that the moment was too great to remain silent.

The former president addressed students at the University of Illinois, criticizing everything about Trump’s presidency, calling it a “dark” period of American history.

He reminded them that periods of progress in American were frequently followed by periods of resistance to change, especially from leaders who fanned the flames of resentment.

“It did not start with Donald Trump. He is a symptom, not the cause,” Obama said. “He’s just capitalizing on resentments that politicians have been fanning for years.”
He pointed to the rise of white-nationalism and racial division and condemned Republicans for stoking resentment to remain in power.

“Over the past few decades, the politics of division, of resentment and paranoia has unfortunately found a home in the Republican Party,” Obama said.

He implied that his presidency was a period of progress, that was followed by Trump.

“There’s always been another darker aspect to America’s story,” he explained. “Progress doesn’t just move in a straight line. There’s a reason why progress hasn’t been easy and why throughout our history every two steps forward seems to sometimes produce one step back.”

He scolded Republicans for allowing conspiracy theories to rage about Benghazi and his birth certificate and implied that Trump and the Republicans were dependent on the darker side of human nature.

“They start undermining norms that ensure accountability, try to change the rules to entrench their power further. And they appeal to racial nationalism that’s barely veiled, if veiled at all,” he said.

Obama referred to Trump as a “bully” who deserved to be rejected by the American people.

“We are Americans. We’re supposed to stand up to bullies. Not follow them. We’re supposed to stand up to discrimination. And we’re sure as heck supposed to stand up, clearly and unequivocally, to Nazi sympathizers,” he said.

Republicans, he said, were appealing to “tribe” by trying to divide people by race and gender.

“None of this is conservative,” Obama said. “It’s not conservative. It sure isn’t normal. It’s radical.”

He also blasted Republicans for “cozying up to the KGB” by working with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“What happened!?” he said, pointing out that the Republicans used to hate communism.

He put the moment in the context of history, noting that the United States survived the tumultuous times of the Industrial Revolution, two world wars, the Cold War with Russia.

He reminded students that American leaders were “not perfect” but that progress was made.

“That progress wasn’t achieved just by a handful of leaders making speeches,” Obama said, urging all of the students present to perform heroic acts of progress to make history.

Despite the dark tone of his speech, Obama urged his supporters to stay positive.

“Fortunately I am hopeful because out of this political darkness I am seeing a great awakening of citizenship all across the country,” he said.
He encouraged his followers not to depend on charismatic leaders to urge them forward, perhaps hinting at the failure of failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton in 2016.

“You can’t opt out because you don’t feel sufficiently inspired by this or that particular candidate,” he said. “This is not a rock concert, this is not Coachella. You don’t need a messiah. All we need are decent, honest, hardworking people who are accountable.”

Obama Complains Trump Getting Credit for ‘Economic Miracle’

Former President Barack Obama appeared upset on Friday that President Donald Trump was getting credit for the booming economy.
The former president made his remarks at the University of Illinois after the United States economy posted more positive news; over 200,000 jobs created and a 3.9 percent unemployment rate in August.

Obama reminded students that they were probably too young to remember how the economy was on the brink of depression when he took office.

“When you hear how great the economy is doing right now, let’s just remember when this recovery started,” he said.

“When you hear about this economic miracle that’s been going on… when the job numbers come out … suddenly Republicans are saying, ‘It’s a miracle,'” he said. “I have to kind of remind them, actually those job numbers are the same as they were in 2015 and 2016.”

Obama Slams Trump: How Hard Can It Be to Say 'Nazis Are Bad'?
Former president criticizes successor's response to violence at white nationalist rally, saying Americans are 'supposed to stand up to discrimination'

Former President Barack Obama issued a scorching critique of his successor Friday, blasting President Donald Trump’s response to far-right violence, his pattern of pressuring the Justice Department, his policies and reminding voters that the economic recovery — one of Trump’s favorite talking points — began on his watch.
Obama criticized Trump’s response to the violence last year at a white nationalist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, that resulted in the death of one person.

“We’re supposed to stand up to discrimination,” Obama said. “And we’re sure as heck supposed to stand up clearly and unequivocally to Nazi sympathizers. How hard can that be, saying that Nazis are bad?”

Obama’s speech at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign was delivered less than two months before midterm elections that could determine the course of Trump’s presidency. The remarks amounted to a stinging indictment of political life in the Trump era.

>> Meet the bigots running in the U.S. midterms (and one of them is Jewish) ■ Why 'Unite the Right' rally was a pathetic flop – and why that shouldn't matter | Analysis

“It did not start with Donald Trump,” Obama said. “He is a symptom, not the cause. He’s just capitalizing on resentments that politicians have been fanning for years.”

Noting the history of former presidents avoiding the rough and tumble of politics, Obama acknowledged his sharp critique of Trump was something of a departure from tradition. But he said the political moment required a pushback and called for better discourse.

“Appealing to tribe, appealing to fear, pitting one group against another, telling people that order and security will be restored if it weren’t for those who don’t look like us or don’t sound like us or don’t pray like we do — that’s an old playbook,” he said. “It’s as old as time. And in a healthy democracy, it doesn’t work. Our antibodies kick in and people of good will from across the political spectrum call out the bigots and the fear-mongers and work to compromise and get things done and promote the better angels of our nation.”

But, Obama added, when there is a vacuum in democracy, “other voices fill the void. A politics of fear and resentment and retrenchment takes hold.”

Obama called Trump “the symptom, not the cause” of division and polarization in the U.S.

Trump, meanwhile, claims he fell asleep watching Obama’s speech. “I’m sorry, I watched it, but I fell asleep,” Trump said at a campaign appearance in Fargo, North Dakota. “I found he’s very good for sleeping.”

Trump said Obama was trying to take credit for this “incredible thing that’s happening to our country.”

Even as he has largely remained out of the spotlight, Obama made clear he’s paid close attention to the steady stream of headlines chronicling the Trump administration and said the news is a reminder of what’s at stake in the November midterm elections.

“Just a glance at recent headlines should tell you this moment really is different,” Obama said. “The stakes really are higher. The consequences of any of us sitting on the sidelines are more dire.” He later added: “This is not normal.”

He was especially stern in his condemnation of Trump’s pattern of pressuring law enforcement officials, including Attorney General Jeff Sessions. The president has repeatedly called on Sessions to fire special counsel Robert Mueller and earlier this week blamed the Justice Department for indicting two incumbent Republican members of Congress, arguing the moves could jeopardize their seats.

“It should not be a partisan issue to say that we do not pressure the attorney general or the FBI to use the criminal justice system as a cudgel to punish our political opponents,” Obama said. “Or to explicitly call on the attorney general to protect members of our own party from prosecution because an election happens to be coming up. I’m not making that up. that’s not hypothetical.

As Obama spoke, Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One that he believed Sessions should investigate the identity of the author of an anonymous New York Times opinion piece that was sharply critical of his leadership, saying the essay a “national security issue.”

Obama, reacting to the op-ed account, said “that’s not how our democracy is supposed to work.”

“The claim that everything will turn out OK because there are people inside the White House who secretly aren’t following the president’s orders, that is not a check,” Obama said. “I’m being serious here. That’s not how our democracy is supposed to work. These people aren’t elected. They’re not accountable.”

Obama also jabbed Trump on the issue the current president frequently heralds as one of his greatest achievements: The strong economy. Obama reminded the audience that the economic recovery began during his administration and defended his handling of the 2008 economic collapse.

“When you hear how great the economy’s doing right now, let’s just remember when this recovery started,” he said.

The speech was a preview of the argument that Obama is likely to make throughout the fall. On Saturday, the former president will stump for House Democratic candidates from California at an event in Orange County, a conservative-leaning part of California where Republicans are at risk of losing several congressional seats.

Next week, Obama plans to campaign in Ohio for Richard Cordray, the Democratic nominee for governor, and Ohio Democrats.

Obama’s campaign activity will continue through October and will include fundraising appearances, according to an Obama adviser. The adviser was not authorized to discuss Obama’s thinking publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity. While the former president will be visible throughout the general election, the adviser said that Obama will not be a daily presence on the campaign trail.

Republicans said voters won’t find Obama’s argument appealing.

“In 2016, voters rejected President Obama’s policies and his dismissiveness towards half the country,” Republican National Committee spokesman Michael Ahrens said in response to the Friday speech. “Doubling down on that strategy won’t work in 2018 either.”
Meanwhile, Michelle Obama is also stepping up her political involvement ahead of the November midterm election. She will headline voter registration rallies in Las Vegas and Miami later in September as part of a week of action by When We All Vote, the new nonpartisan organization that she co-chairs.

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel will not run for reelection

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel stunned his supporters on Tuesday.

The oft-criticized mayor of Chicago announced he will NOT be running for re-election.

Good Riddance
Rahm Emanuel has been an absolute disaster for the city of Chicago.

It seems as though the city is in the headlines nearly every day for massive gun violence.

Keep in mind, this is a state with strict gun control laws, something the Dems claim will fix everything.

Emanuel has failed to deliver on any of the promises he made to Chicagoans.

In addition to reducing crime and gun violence, he was supposed to have improved its failing school system.

That has also been an epic failure.
False Praise
After the announcement, some very high-profile Dems heaped praise on the failed mayor.

Included in that group was none other than former president Barack Obama.

Obama touted Emanuel’s record on education, even though as we said, the numbers tell a different story.

Obama stated, “Chicago is better and stronger for his leadership, and I was a better President for his wise counsel at a particularly perilous time for our country.”

It would be nice for Obama to actually clarify just how Chicago is “better and stronger.”

Present and Future
The criticism brought on by the violence in Chicago has brought an onslaught of challengers wanting Emanuel’s seat.

Even though he has already raised a reported $10 million for his re-election, Emanuel apparently saw the writing on the wall.

Now that he is officially not running for office, could Emanuel be making plans for a higher office?

Do You Think Emanuel Will Run for President?
Yes
No
After all, Dems have been tossing his name around for the last two years as a possible candidate for the 2020 election.

Seeing what he did in Chicago, imagine how disastrous it would be if he got his hands on the entire country!

Libs Use Cohen to Push Guilt by Association, But Forget 5 Obama Pals Who Were 10x Worse
BY LISA PAYNE-NAEGER
AUGUST 22, 2018 AT 2:37PM
https://www.westernjournal.com/ct/guilt-association-obama-guys-worse/?
VIDEO 2.27mins
It didn’t take long for liberal spin to conjure up the specter of guilt by association as the media  tried to build a case for impeachment of President Donald Trump due to the latest developments in the Michael Cohen and Paul Manafort cases.

On Tuesday Michael Cohen, the president’s former attorney, pleaded guilty to eight charges of felony fraud and campaign finance law violations. In doing so, he also implicated the president, who he claims directed him to pay off porn star Stormy Daniels as well as a former Playboy model to buy their silence for alleged sexual encounters.

That alone would have made liberals happy. But the anti-Trump crowd was also crowing that former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort was convicted on the same day of eight charges of tax and bank fraud brought by special counsel Robert Mueller as part of his investigation of alleged Russian meddling in the 2016 election.

A lot of nonsense takes place on social media, but sometimes bits of wisdom shine through. These particular comments put the spotlight on liberal hypocrisy that has no problem with smearing Trump with guilt by association, but was mysteriously blind when it came to former President Barack Obama.

Liberal memories are short when it comes to liberal sins, but author and conservative Twitter user Thomas Wictor reminds us all that guilt by association was — or should have been — a much bigger issue in the Obama administration.

To be fair, longtime Barack Obama buddy Bill Ayers was never implicated in murder during his spree as a bomber for the domestic terrorist group the Weather Underground.

RELATED: Media Celebrate Trump Mishandling $280k. Forget Obama Mishandled $88 Million.

It’s also worth pointing out that Ayers’ girlfriend at the time, Diana Oughton, died in 1970 when a nail bomb she was helping to build exploded in a house in Grennwich Village. A Vanity Fair article from 2015 claims Ayers and his Weather Underground terrorists never intended to hurt people, but it’s safe to wonder if they were worried about who would be on the receiving end of those nails flying through the air with deadly, explosive force.

The Daily Caller points out some clarifying factors on the the guilt-by-association accusations against Trump.

In the Manafort case, even though Manafort spent a short time with the Trump campaign to work specifically on the Republican National Convention, the media will fail to mention he was “fired over questions of his work as a lobbyist for foreign governments years earlier,” and all charges were related to actions of Manafort long before he ever joined Trump’s presidential run.

As The Daily Caller put it: “It’s guilt by association coupled with omission of relevant facts to paint the president as somehow associated with a guilty person’s actions.”

As far as Cohen is concerned, and as conservative radio host Mark Levin has pointed out, the charges of payoffs to two women for alleged sexual encounters are still not proven to be illegal. It is not not illegal for to pay for non-disclosure agreements in politics or any other sphere of the law.

Liberals have once again cast stones from their own glass houses. They should really think twice before they invent false scenarios.

Some sharp-minded Twitter members might just throw a litany of facts on their feed that blow their latest spin out of the water.

The Comical Conservative
July 26, 2013 ·
President Obama walks into a local bank in Chicago to cash a check. He is surrounded by Secret Service agents. As he approaches the cashier he says, "Good morning Ma'am, could you please cash this check for me?"

Cashier:
"It would be my pleasure sir. Could you please show me your ID?"

Obama:
"Truthfully, I did not bring my ID with me as I didn't think there was any need to. I am President Barack Obama, the President of the United States of AMERICA !!!!"

Cashier:
"Yes sir, I know who you are, but with all the regulations and monitoring of the banks because of 9/11, impostors, forgers, money laundering, and bad mortgage underwriting not to mention requirements of the Dodd/Frank legislation, etc., I must insist on seeing ID."

Obama:
“Just ask anyone here at the bank who I am and they will tell you. Everybody knows who I am."

Cashier:
"I am sorry Mr. President but these are the bank rules and I must follow them."

Obama:
"I am urging you, please, to cash this check. I need to buy a gift for Michelle for Valentine’s Day"

Cashier:
"Look Mr. President, here is an example of what we can do. One day, Tiger Woods came into one of our bank branches without ID. To prove he was Tiger Woods he pulled out his putter and made a beautiful shot across the bank into a coffee cup. With that shot we knew him to be Tiger Woods and cashed his check.”
“Another time, Andre Agassi came into the same place without ID. He pulled out his tennis racquet and made a fabulous shot where as the tennis ball landed in a coffee cup. With that shot we cashed his check.
So, Mr. President, what can you do to prove that it is you, and only you, as the President of the United States?"

Obama:
Obama stands there thinking, and thinking, and finally says, "Honestly, my mind is a total blank...there is nothing that comes to my mind. I can't think of a single thing. I have absolutely no idea what to do and I don’t have a clue.”
Cashier:
"Will that be large or small bills, Mr. President?

Quit trashing Obama's accomplishments. He has done more than any other President before him. Here is a list of his impressive accomplishments:

1. First President to be photographed smoking a joint.
2. First President to apply for college aid as a foreign student, then deny he was a foreigner.
3. First President to have a social security number from a state he has never lived in.
4. First President to preside over a cut to the credit-rating of the United States.

Former President Barack Obama spoke in Johannesburg, South Africa, earlier this summer to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Nelson Mandela, the country’s most famous political icon. But instead of simply memorializing Mandela’s humanitarian work, Obama didn’t hesitate to praise South African President Cyril Ramaphosa for “inspiring new hope” in South Africa.

This praise comes after Ramaphosa declared in December that he would soon allow the “expropriation of land without compensation,” particularly from white farmers, apparently as retribution for South Africa’s apartheid era that ended nearly a quarter of a century ago. And now that the government is in the process of amending their constitution to formally legalize the expropriation process, Obama’s praise for the South African president is looking especially shameful.

Obama “inspired” by government-sponsored persecution?
Concern over Obama’s July comments first came from Tucker Carlson, who condemned the former president’s speech on his self-titled Fox News program shortly after Obama spoke in Johannesburg. “Ramaphosa recently declared that he would change the South African constitution,” Carlson said, “and he’ll do it for the explicit purpose of persecuting a racial minority, seizing their land without compensation, not because they committed any specific crime, but because they are the wrong color…purely on racial grounds.” Watch below:

Tucker Carlson Obama In South Africa Praises White Genocide Leaders
WATCH https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=33&v=ZzHg-IiDX4A
Obama had said on July 17 that Ramaphosa “is inspiring new hope in this great country” — but Carlson didn’t find Ramaphosa’s actions to be “inspiring.”

That opinion likely hasn’t changed, as the ruling party, the African National Congress, has now moved to “finalize the proposed amendment to the constitution that outlines more clearly the conditions under which expropriation of land without compensation can be effected,” Ramaphosa announced last week.

“It has become pertinently clear that our people want the constitution to be more explicit about expropriation of land without compensation as demonstrated in the public hearings,” the South African president explained.

Ramaphosa went on to explain that “the intention of this proposed amendment is to promote redress, advance economic development, [and] increase agricultural production and food security.”

White South Africans flee the country in fear
In reality, the amendment would do little more than provide cover for an explicitly racist policy that seeks to reverse the effects of the nation’s apartheid era — during which whites owned most of the nation’s land and blacks owned very little — by expropriating land from white landowners and redistributing it among black citizens.

As noted by RT, “There have been growing fears that the planned expropriation will deal a blow to commercial farming in the country and might put it on the verge of a food production crisis.”

Experts are concerned that the new farmers who take over the land expropriated by the government will have little experience in agriculture, an issue that could push the already-impoverished country into total starvation. Such a scenario occurred in neighboring Zimbabwe after the agricultural land was redistributed in 2000 — food production dropped as experienced farmers left.

Additionally, Ramaphosa’s land redistribution strategy has the country’s white population, which makes up about nine percent of the citizenry, concerned not just over the loss of land, but also about “what they say is a surge in violence and government-fueled hostility against them,” according to RT, who reported that some of the country’s whites have even sought asylum abroad.

“Thanks to policies like this,” Carlson said in July, “many South Africans have already been murdered in race killings and many more are fleeing the country for their lives.”

Do you oppose South Africa's racist expropriation of land from white farmers as a form of "redress"?
Yes
No
Next
The future of South Africa rests in racist hands
Meanwhile, Ramaphosa has maintained that he simply wants “dialog[ue], discussion, [and] engagement until we find good solutions that take our country forward.” He added in March that “there is no reason for anyone of us to panic and start beating war drums.”

But if there was ever a time to panic, it would be now. The South African government has prioritized explicitly racial policies over the wellbeing of its people in order to “promote redress” for racial policies of decades ago.

Even more horrifying: that sentiment is apparently “inspiring” former President Barack Obama. What a shame.

President Barack Obama announced an endorsement list of 81 Democrats for the Congressional midterm elections and even some candidates for Governor and state-level races.
But he did not signal support for rising Socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez who surprised the political establishment by defeating prominent Congressman Joe Crowley in New York.
Obama also did not weigh in on the New York race for Governor as Governor Andrew Cuomo faces a challenge from actress Cynthia Nixon. He also did not endorse Rep. Beto O’Rourke who is challenging Sen. Ted Cruz in Texas.
Establishment Senate Democrats seeking re-election were also snubbed by Obama, including Senators facing tough races such as Bill Nelson, Joe Manchin, Joe Donnelly, Jon Tester, and Claire McCaskill.
“I’m proud to endorse such a wide and impressive array of Democratic candidates – leaders as diverse, patriotic, and big-hearted as the America they’re running to represent,” Obama said in a statement sent to reporters.
The statement said that Obama’s list was a “first round” of Democratic candidates and that he was prioritizing control of the House of Representatives.
Obama plans to campaign in several states this fall and will release a second round of endorsements before the election.

VIDEO: Obama slams ‘right-wing billionaires,’ touts push for ‘universal income’

As the most reliable and balanced news aggregation service on the internet, DML News offers the following information published by FOXNEWS.COM:
Former President Barack Obama, in a rare post-presidency speech abroad, took several thinly veiled shots at his successor and other populist “right-wing billionaires” — while openly touting a controversial liberal push for “universal income.”
In one of his biggest speeches since leaving the White House, Obama delivered the 2018 Nelson Mandela Annual Lecture in Johannesburg, South Africa on Tuesday. He used the platform to rail against populist movements, which have gained strength in the U.S. and Europe.
The article goes on to state the following:
Obama went on to slam the “right-wing billionaires” leading populist movements, in a clear reference to President Trump and like-minded politicians in Europe.
“Populist movements, cynically funded by right-wing billionaires worried about their own interests,” Obama said. “These movements tapped the unease that was felt by so many people who live outside of urban course. That their social status and privileges were eroding … threatened by outsiders, those who don’t look like them or sound like them.”
The report also stated:
Obama, meanwhile, on Tuesday seemed to embrace some talking points of the resurgent progressive left — including opening the door to proposals for a guaranteed income. One such proposal is being considered in Chicago.

CONFIRMED: Barack Obama was running the entire spygate operation that violated federal law to spy on Trump campaign officials
July 17, 2018
Image: CONFIRMED: Barack Obama was running the entire spygate operation that violated federal law to spy on Trump campaign officials
(Natural News) In recent months, democrats have laughed in the face of everyone that has even considered the possibility that Barack Obama was involved in the counterintelligence investigation into the Trump campaign. Now, it appears as though conservatives will have the last laugh after all.

After an in-depth analysis of text messages sent between FBI agent Peter Strzok and former FBI lawyer Lisa Page around the time the investigation into Trump’s campaign began, National Review’s Andrew McCarthy discovered that the Department of Justice had redacted bits of information that were damning for Barack Obama and his administration.

Damning evidence
One of the most revealing text messages that McCarthy highlighted came from Strzok, which appeared to indicate that, contrary to what liberals have been saying for months now, the Obama White House was involved in the entire anti-Trump operation. (Related: A deep state leak to the New York Times reveals that the Obama regime spied on the Trump campaign without evidence of any crime.)

The message, which related to a high-level meeting with CIA officials on August 5, 2016, read: “And hi. Went well, best we could have expected. Other than (REDACTED) quote: ‘the White House is running this.’ My answer, ‘well, maybe for you they are.’ And of course, I was planning on telling this guy, thanks for coming, we’ve got an hour, but with Bill (Priestap) there, I‘ve got no control.”

Bill Priestap was the assistant director of counterintelligence and Strzok’s immediate superior at the FBI.

In response to Strzok’s text message, Lisa Page replied: “Yeah, whatever (re the WH comment). We’ve got the emails that say otherwise.”
Based on this short conversation between Strzok and Page, it sure seems as though what conservatives have been saying for months now is true after all – that the Obama White House did, in fact, play a role in the counterintelligence investigation into the Trump campaign.

Still, though, there are two important questions that need to be answered: First, who was the redacted official who stated that the “White House is running this” regarding the investigation? And second, what is the content of the emails referenced by Lisa page “that say otherwise”?

In order to provide context to what already appears to be damning evidence against the Obama administration, these questions need to be answered sooner rather than later. (Related: Obama’s spying on the Trump campaign included the use of secret national security letters reserved for the most serious threats.)

One thing that we know for sure is that Obama’s spying on Trump’s team is turning out to be a much bigger and more significant scandal than the so-called “Russia collusion” narrative ever was. In fact, just this past weekend, Michael Barone of the New York Postmade the argument that Obama’s spying scandal has reached a point where it is now starting to resemble Watergate.

“The crime at the root of Watergate was an attempt at surveillance of the DNC after George McGovern seemed about to win the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination, just as the government misconduct in Russiagate was an attempt at surveillance of the Republican Party’s national campaign after Trump clinched its nomination,” Barone wrote.

Indeed, the Left’s behind-the-scenes efforts to tear down President Trump without any significant evidence of any wrongdoing whatsoever is quickly turning into one of the most serious scandals in recent history. Highly unethical and potentially illegal acts were seemingly committed, and now the liberals are desperately trying to cover their tracks through lies and the perpetuation of misinformation.

Sadly, however, it’s far from guaranteed that anybody will be held accountable. If history has taught us anything, it’s that liberals have a knack for avoiding legal consequences after committing crimes, even though they belong behind bars. Only time will tell if the United States justice system will prevail.

James Woods Destroys Obama Legacy, Shows Americans the 1 Video Barack Wanted Us To Forget
BY JOE SAUNDERS
JULY 15, 2018 AT 1:42PM
Share on Facebook  Tweet  Email  Print
These are the words that haunt the Barack Obama legacy.

While Democrats and their media allies chase the phantom of “Russian collusion” with the Donald Trump campaign, leave it to conservative champion James Woods to pass on a Twitter post to remind Americans of just how brazenly Democrats downplayed the threat posed by Russia during the Obama administration.

As President Trump prepares to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Helsinki, Finland, for the first summit between the two leaders, it’s a video that should make for some uncomfortable viewing for liberals with short memories.

The moment came during the final debate between then-President Obama and Republican challenger Mitt Romney at Lynne University in Boca Raton, Florida in October, 2012. (A full transcript is here, as published by the Commission on Presidential Debates.)

Romney had just gone through a litany of the dangers posed by terrorism in the Islamic world (terrorism that increased sharply under Obama’s feckless watch) when Obama launched his zinger that gladdened the hearts of his liberal fanbase — but now makes him look like a patronizing fool.

Woods passed on a video of the moment in a Saturday retweet, with the message: “This is like an ice cream Sundae.”

And here’s the video – just in case Democrats have forgotten it:

“Governor Romney, I’m glad that you recognize that Al Qaida is a threat, because a few months ago when you were asked what’s the biggest geopolitical threat facing America, you said Russia, not Al Qaida,” Obama said. “You said Russia. And the 1980s, they’re now calling to ask for their foreign policy back because, you know, the Cold War’s been over for 20 years.”

It sums up the Obama administration perfectly: The arrogance of a president who considered his opponent beneath contempt. The sneering put-down of the past that was loved by Obama’s oh-so-modern liberal backers.

(The video in the tweet Woods was passing on clearly originated with an Obama supporter, judging by the implied mockery of the music and the zoom in on Romney’s face. Russia isn’t looking so funny to liberals now.)

What the video really proved, though, is that, as usual, when Democrats are accusing Republicans of something, it’s because they’re guilty of it themselves.

In the case of the Trump-“Russia collusion” fantasy, the party of Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama hope Americans don’t remember the infamous “reset” button of Clinton’s first major initiative of her cursed time as America’s secretary of state.
They’re hoping Americans don’t remember how Obama unilaterally abandoned a planned missile defense screen against Russia in Central Europe back in 2009. Even left-wing news sites like The Guardian covered it then, though the mainstream media says little about it now.

RELATED: James Woods Finds Old Video of Hillary, Links It to Strzok Testimony and the Internet Goes Nuts

They’re hoping Americans don’t remember that it was Obama who was caught on a hot mic pledging the use greater “flexibility” in negotiating with Russia if he won re-election in 2012. Some mainstream media reporters literally do not remember the incident now. (Or pretend not to.)
But clips like this one, passed on to Woods’ politically aware Twitter audience of 1.6 million followers, are going to keep reminding Americans of the truth.

It wasn’t Republican presidents or their political party that were soft on Russians during the Soviet Union days. And it hasn’t been Republican presidents or their political party that have been soft on Russians since the Cold War ended.
Democrats thought Ronald Reagan was wrong to stand up to the Soviets in the 1980s, with the very foreign policy Obama was mocking in that 2012 debate in Boca Raton.

And if Donald Trump were not in the White House today, and if the Democrats didn’t need the phantom of “Russia collusion” to attack him with, they’d be cozying up to Putin just as much as Hillary Clinton did to nail the Uranium One deal Democrats still don’t want to talk about.

With every passing day, the Obama legacy gets more disreputable, thanks to the successes of the Trump administration domestically and the strenth it projects abroad.
And thanks to activist conservatives like Woods, the American people can get some much-needed reminders of how bad things really were when Barack Obama was in the White House.

Independence Day Present for Trump: Approval Blows Past Obama’s
BY JOE SAUNDERS

It’s the kind of news the news media hates.

Marking his second Independence Day as the man in the Oval Office, President Donald Trump saw his approval rating sitting above former President Barack Obama’s at the same point in his first term.

And Trump’s doing it in the face of a mainstream news media assault his predecessor never could have imagined.

According to Rasmussen’s Daily Presidential Tracking Poll,  Trump entered the holiday with 48 percent of Americans approving of the job he’s doing.

That beats Obama’s rating on July 3, 2010, by 3 points, the daily tracking of the Obama administration shows.

Three points might not seem like much in the grand scheme of things, but when it’s seen in the context of the unflagging worship the news media was bestowing on Obama from before he even won the presidency to his second Fourth of July in office, it’s fair to say Trump is blowing Obama away.

Remember, by July 4, 2010, Obama had been a president with huge majorities in both houses of Congress. The world was still swooning over the first black president, who had been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize the year before for literally nothing he had accomplished yet (or would, in fact, accomplish over the next six, dismal years of his tenure).

He’d signed the Affordable Care Act in March of 2010, and Washington correspondents for mainstream news organizations were mainly concerned with trying to outdo each other in degrading their profession by fawning over Obama, his wife and the whole quasi-socialist program his Democrat Party was trying to foist on the country.

Are you surprised to see Trump’s approval rating beating Obama’s?
Yes No

By contrast, Trump has been battling not only foreign governments in trade disputes but also a nit-picking, overly antagonistic media that’s given his administration an astounding 90 percent negative coverage, according to the hawk-eyed Newsbusters at the Media Research Center.

Even more impressive, Trump’s approval numbers are actually being helped by black and Hispanic voters – exactly the kind of Americans liberals are counting on to power their vaunted (and probably mythical) “blue wave” come November.

Now, it’s a good chance most mainstream media commentators were hoping — along with the Democrat Party — that Trump would never actually reach the milestone of a second Fourth of July in the White House.

By now, special counsel Robert Mueller’s “Russia collusion” investigation should have driven him from office, of course – if Trump’s own perfidy (in liberal eyes) or the inherent criminality (again, in liberal eyes) of his administration hadn’t made it self-destruct.

But neither of those things have happened. And despite the onslaught of media hostility, Americans can see with their own eyes what a Trump administration is accomplishing.

RELATED: Dems Faking Immigration Outrage: Place It 9th on List of Issues They Worry About

Low unemployment, a roaring stock market, demonstrable – if still uncertain – progress toward peace with the always-nettlesome North Koreans.

That’s the kind of news that can’t help but get through the media filter, because Americans have their eyes open. And it’s the kind of reality Americans are experiencing in their daily lives, no matter what the news media keeps telling them.

And that makes the news about what Americans are really thinking the kind of news the news media hates most of all.

Ben Shapiro Torches Obama, Briefly Silences Bill Maher With History Lesson on His Own Show
BY CILLIAN ZEAL
JUNE 30, 2018 AT 6:33AM
 https://www.westernjournal.com/ct/ben-shapiro-torches-obama-briefly-silences-bill-maher-history-lesson-his-own-show/?
Did President Trump collude with Russian leader Vladimir Putin during the 2016 election and beyond? Bill Maher certainly thinks so. Yet, in just 30 seconds, conservative pundit Ben Shapiro proved that if the Kremlin had their druthers, they’d probably rather have Barack Obama back in place at 1600 Pennsylvania.

Shapiro appeared on Maher’s HBO show Friday, and heavily on the agenda was Trump’s relationship with Putin and Russia, particularly given that Maher and Shapiro are on opposite sides of the debate.

The discussion began after a discussion of whether or not Trump was a thought leader. Shapiro, who describes himself as a “sometimes-Trumper” and has been critical of the president’s character, claimed that he wasn’t.

“Can he have some thoughts?” Maher said.

“I don’t know, can he?” Shapiro asked with a laugh. “You tell me.”

TRENDING: FBI Caught Red Handed: Set Up Lynch-Clinton Tarmac Meeting, According to IG Report

“Well, it seems like his only thoughts, to me, are to work with Vladimir Putin to make Russia great again,” Maher responded.

VIDEO https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=430&v=SGcdPakoytg

“He’s been a lot harsher on Putin than Obama was, by the way,” Shapiro said, drawing incredulity from Maher.

“Not in terms of his rhetoric, in terms of his actions,” Shapiro continued. “He has armed the people of Ukraine with deadly weapons, something which Obama would not do. Two-hundred Russian soldiers were killed in Syria by U.S. forces under Donald Trump, not under Barack Obama, because Barack Obama said to (former Russian President) Dmitry Medvedyev that he wanted to provide him with flexibility in 2012. Crimea was annexed under Barack Obama.”

Are you a fan of Ben Shapiro?
Yes No

The history lesson drew a stunned “wow” from Maher, who still didn’t want to believe it.

“This reminds me of when Hitchens used to come on the show and tried to convince me that Saddam Hussein was a radical Islamist when he was actually a secularist,” Maher said — referencing the late journalist and polemicist Christopher Hitchens, who supported the invasion of Iraq and the Bush administration’s agenda in the Middle East in spite of the fact that he was an avowed Trotskyist.

Perhaps the great irony of this is that Maher spent the majority of the interview pointing to direct collusion between the president and Vladimir Putin’s Kremlin without citing anything more than the desultory indictments by the Mueller special counsel and a few tweets by the president.

What was arguably Hitchens’ most famous quote was made in regards to religion, but it bears repurposing here: “What can be asserted without evidence can also be dismissed without evidence.”

In terms of collusion, the idea that Trump is the Muscovian Candidate isn’t borne out by any evidence to suggest he’s been easy on Putin. Shapiro also neglected to mention the fact that the Trump administration has authorized air strikes on two occasions against the Russian-backed Assad regime in Syria, something that was hardly viewed with unalloyed joy in the halls of the Kremlin.

RELATED: Watch: Bill Maher Goes After Melania with Sick ‘Mrs. Hitler’ Jacket

Obama, meanwhile, has said he was “very proud” that he had held off striking Syria during his presidency even after drawing a “red line” regarding the use of chemical weapons.

All of this, on balance, is a lot worse for the Putin regime than a few errant tweets or Trump saying he wants Russia back in the G-7. Actions have always mattered more than words in politics, however, even before those words were measured in 280 characters or less.

When it came to actions, Putin loved him some Obama, and he likely would have loved him some Hillary Clinton, too. That’s the evidence, and no amount of aberrant rhetoric can change the facts. When it comes to collusion, perhaps Mr. Maher would do well to listen to Shapiro. If he doesn’t trust Shapiro alone, however, he would also do well to take his late friend’s advice.

Ben Shapiro Torches Obama, Briefly Silences Bill Maher With History Lesson on His Own Show

“Well, it seems like his only thoughts, to me, are to work with Vladimir Putin to make Russia great again,” Maher responded.

Former President Barack Obama is headed out of the country.
https://www.patriotnewsalerts.com/obama-travel-to-kenya/?utm_medium=ci&utm_source=push&utm_campaign=pnaAccording to reports, the former president will soon be traveling to Portugal, Spain, and South Africa, as well as visiting his father’s homeland of Kenya.

We Are Paying for It
Obama is expected to leave on his global jaunt in early July, then travel for several weeks.

Of course, along with him will be dozens of Secret Service agents to protect him and his family from harm.

With that, the month of July will not be a cheap one for the American taxpayer.

Long Lost Sister
Toward the middle of July, Obama is expected to arrive in Kenya.

While there, he will be making an appearance at a local youth center founded by his sister, Auma Obama.

“Given that his own mission under the Obama Foundation is to inspire and empower people to change the world, his attendance at this event at our ancestral home, where our father was laid to rest, is of great significance to me,” Auma Obama, who shares a father with the former president, said.

The Stops
Barack Obama is also expected to meet with Kenyan president Uhuru Kenyatta while he is in the country.

Additionally, he is scheduled to meet with Raila Odinga, the opposition leader.

Later, Obama will be attending an event in South Africa to honor Nelson Mandela’s birthday.

He is also scheduled to meet President Cyril Ramphosa while there.

Should Obama Be Talking to World Leaders?
Yes
No
Next
Prior to heading to Africa, Obama will be making some quick stops in Spain and Portugal.

One can only imagine the damage he will do, no doubt badmouthing Trump wherever he goes.

Lawsuit: Obama’s Agency Held Teenage Migrants in ‘Brutal, Inhumane Conditions’

President Barack Obama’s immigration agency allowed migrant youths as young as 14 to be abused, tied up, left naked in solitary confinement, and denied health treatment at a juvenile detention center in Virginia in 2015 and 2016, says a lawsuit filed on behalf of a Latino migrant.
The lawsuit was settled in January, according to the Associated Press, which does not describe the settlement but does say that officials at Shenandoah Valley Juvenile Center (SVJC) in Staunton, Virginia, denied the claims.

The lawsuit filed on behalf of plaintiff John Doe states:

Doe and other similarly situated young people in SVJC are subject to unconstitutional conditions that shock the conscience, including violence by staff, abusive and excessive use of seclusion and restraints, and denial of necessary mental health care. As a result, Doe has engaged in significant and continuous self-harm, to which SVJC staff and counselors have responded with callous indifference.

These violations reflects a disorganized, untrained and understaffed facility that house immigrant children in brutal, inhumane conditions.

AP reported on sworn statements of jailed teens, including charges that guards stripped off their clothes and strapped them to chairs and placed bags over their heads.

“Whenever they used to restrain me and put me in the chair, they would handcuff me,” a Honduran immigrant who was sent to the facility at 15, said in the AP report. “Strapped me down all the way, from your feet all the way to your chest, you couldn’t really move. … They have total control over you. They also put a bag over your head. It has little holes; you can see through it. But you feel suffocated with the bag on.”

“If you are behaving bad, resisting the staff when they try to remove you from the program, they will take everything in your room away — your mattress, blanket, everything,” a16-year old Latino immigrant detained at the center said in the AP report.

“They will also take your clothes. Then they will leave you locked in there for a while,” he said. “This has happened to me, and I know it has happened to other kids, too.”

A 15-year-old Mexican held at the detention center for nine months said in his sworn statement he was restrained with a bag over his head.

“They handcuffed me and put a white bag of some kind over my head,” he said. “They took off all of my clothes and put me into a restraint chair, where they attached my hands and feet to the chair. They also put a strap across my chest. They left me naked and attached to that chair for two and a half days, including at night.”

AP reported:

In addition to the children’s first-hand, translated accounts in court filings, a former child-development specialist who worked inside the facility independently told The Associated Press this week that she saw kids there with bruises and broken bones they blamed on guards. She spoke on condition of anonymity because she was not authorized to publicly discuss the children’s cases.

The AP did admit that some of the youths detained in Virginia were suspected to be MS-13 gang members and had received “secure placement” because of violent behavior.

The AP report does not mention Obama or any of his cabinet, but repeatedly suggests a link to President Donald Trump.

“Many of the children were sent there after U.S. immigration authorities accused them of belonging to violent gangs, including MS-13,” AP reported, and added, “President Donald Trump has repeatedly cited gang activity as justification for his crackdown on illegal immigration.”

AP reported:

Most children held in the Shenandoah facility who were the focus of the abuse lawsuit were caught crossing the border illegally alone. They were not the children who have been separated from their families under the Trump administration’s recent policy and are now in the government’s care. But the facility there operates under the same program run by the U.S. Office of Refugee Resettlement.

It was not immediately clear whether any separated children have been sent to Shenandoah Valley since the Trump administration in April announced its “zero tolerance” policy toward immigrant families after the lawsuit was filed.

Obama Presidential Center Will Cost Taxpayers Almost $200 Million

Illinois taxpayers will cough up almost $200 million as part of the state’s plan to improve the area around the Obama Presidential Center, which will be constructed on the South Side of Chicago.
Earlier this month, Gov. Bruce Rauner signed off on a bill that included $174 million for road work near the project and another $50 million to repair a rail stop, the Washington Examiner reported.
“Bringing the Obama Presidential Center to Chicago took leadership and vision, and we are gratified that our partners in Springfield also saw the potential for what this means for all of Illinois. The state’s $174 million investment in infrastructure improvements near the Obama Center on the South Side of Chicago is money well spent,” Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel said in a statement that was released Friday as ground was broken for the rail stop project.
The rail stop project is supported by state and federal tax dollars through a federal grant matched with state money. Emanuel was a one-time chief of staff to former President Barack Obama.
The Obama Center is still in the process of getting all local, state and federal approvals. One issue that has emerged is that the 23-story center would eat up a slice of historic Jackson Park. Some opponents of the project want the park spared, and want the center built on private land.
