Hello Elaine,

The devil is defeated, but not destroyed.

There remains a spirit force that actively resists God's Greatness and Goodness.

In fact, knowing that "his time is short," the devil is working all the harder against God's Kingdom.

You may wonder why God defeated the devil in the cross but did not destroy him.

God will destroy death, but not the devil.

Why?

It could be that God simply does not destroy spirit beings once they are created.

To create a spirit (or a person), give them free will, and then destroy them when they choose wrongly really defeats the purpose of free will.

Destroying the devil is really "too easy" - it suggests that God isn't wise enough to overcome evil with good, but has to resort to the use of force.

Obliteration is the kind of solution we naturally look for: just eliminate opposition, silence them, cancel them, excommunicate them, execute them.

It's the coward's way out.

God, being infinitely more wise, does not have to destroy something to defeat it.

In fact, it could be that defeating it without destroying it is a kind of ongoing testimony that Light is greater than Darkness, Life is greater than Death, and Love is greater than Fear.

Better to defeat something a million times over than to destroy it in one blow.
Even so, it presents a challenge for us.

How do we respond to evil?

More specifically... how does God equip us for overcoming a defeated foe that still tries to steal, kill, destroy, lead astray, corrupt, seduce, and deceive?

That will be the subject of this week's online Bible study...

Hello Elaine,

Tonight we'll discuss something that touches each of us: HEALING.

Not just physical healing (which is pretty important) but healing of the spirit, soul, AND body.

We'll also touch on WHY more people are not healed.

Can you join us?

Hello Elaine,

The first step in God’s Redemptive Purpose is to save the world.

This starts with saving us from satan and his lies; only then can we receive the forgiveness of sins, which is the Second Birth.

But the work of salvation continues until we are literally “saved from our selves,” which is the transformation of Self through perfection in Love.

It is in this sense that salvation is past, present, and future – not just Jesus in the Cross, but Jesus in my heart, provides for a full, complete, and total salvation from satan, from Sin, and from Self.

But what about the tremendous pain, suffering, and damage caused by satan, Sin, and Self?

We will consider God’s answer to that in the next message in our series...

The Infinite Supply of the Lord
by Chip Brogden
The Life of the Lord is always looking for expression through a willing vessel that is both yielded and empty.

It is never a question of how to get the Life to flow, or how to get the Lord to move. To tap into the Infinite Supply it is only a matter of being yielded to the Lord and emptied of ourselves. When this happens then the Life will flow of its own accord...

Hello Elaine,

Jesus said He was sent "to preach the Gospel to the poor" (Lk. 4:18).

I have nothing against making money - we need money to live, eat, and pay our bills.

I don't have anything against having more than enough - God blesses us so we can be a blessing to others.

But I can guarantee you this!

The message Jesus brought to the poor was NOT about how to get worldly wealth, prosperity, and "success" the way the world (and many modern-day preachers) measures success.

The Gospel means "Good News."

What would be "good news" to the spiritually poor?

That their sins are forgiven, their debts are cancelled, and they are FREE.

In the context and spirit of Jesus' mission in Luke 4, this seems most appropriate.

It is the FIRST part of the Good News - not the only thing there is, mind you - but a very important first step: Forgiveness of Sins.

By proclaiming "the acceptable year of the Lord" Jesus was declaring God's Jubilee for all people, that wonderful event every 50 years when debts were forgiven, slaves were set free, and lost lands were restored to their original owners.

Forgiveness of sins is only the beginning - but what a powerful beginning it is!

It is the first step in Redemption... and that is what we will examine this week...

Religion: The Strong Delusion
by Chip Brogden
What we see in 2 Thessalonians 2 is not a literal antichrist who comes and sits down in a literal temple, but what we see is a warning of a religious system that will rise up from within the Body of Christ.

Second Thessalonians 2 is not talking about a Hitler-type world leader sitting down and defiling a literal temple being rebuilt in Jerusalem. It is a prophetic warning that a religion about Jesus is going to try and overcome having a relationship with Jesus. This Institutional Church that has been around for nearly 2000 years has almost completely drowned out the prophetic word; it fights against the revelation of Christ; it is self-centered instead of Christ-centered; it seduces and leads God’s people astray from the simplicity of Christ...

Post  Admin Tue 25 Jan 2022, 11:36 pm

Hello Elaine,

Thanks to your prayers, I'm feeling much more like myself this week and ready to begin a new series of online studies with a question:

What's beyond "salvation"?

The reason I ask is because I feel that most of our years in Religion focused on SALVATION without a fullness of understanding.

Salvation, according to the religious tradition most of us experienced, is poorly and narrowly defined as "my sins are forgiven and I'm going to heaven when I die."

In that case, HEAVEN is little more than a celestial rest home for dearly departed saints.

Yes, I'm as thankful as anyone that I'm saved.

But is that all there is to salvation?

I believe that God has a much bigger view in mind for our salvation than taking us to heaven one day.

I also believe that God calls us to something higher, something more, than "mere" salvation (if I can say it that way).

For starters...

What are we saved FOR?

What are we saved FROM?

Answering those two questions goes way beyond a kindergarten discussion of heaven and hell.

In fact, Scripture reveals a marvelous plan that includes salvation but goes beyond salvation.

It's called REDEMPTION!

And it covers a whole lot more than forgiveness of sins.

It also covers a whole lot more than taking a few saints to heaven.

It is the eternal plan and purpose of God to restore everything that Adam lost!

That's huge!

So join us this week as we begin to examine...

The Spirituality of Imperfection
by Chip Brogden
Scripture is filled with paradox. If you want to save your life, Jesus says you have to lose your life. And that’s one of the of the great paradoxes of the spiritual life.

I think we found another one here: “The Spirituality of Imperfection.” And the paradox is this: That we are perfected in love through the spirituality of imperfection. When we talk about Perfection in Love, I’m not talking about you trying to get your act together, you trying to achieve sinless perfection, you trying to live your life so perfectly that you don’t make any mistakes. On the contrary. We are perfected in love, not by trying to be perfect, but by embracing imperfection.

Perfection in Love comes through the Spirituality of Imperfection! And this allows us to be transformed (not destroyed) by the Cross...

5 Reasons Why Fellowship Eludes Us
by Chip Brogden
If everyone is looking for fellowship, why is fellowship so hard to find? And once we have found it, why is it so hard to maintain it?

When God begins to bring you out of church and into a deeper relationship with Himself, there is a lot of unlearning that has to take place – particularly in the area of fellowship.

It has been said that every lost person has a Christ-shaped void in their heart that only Christ can fill.  A similar thing can be said of believers who come out of the religious system.  When God calls us to be with Him “outside the camp,” there is a church-shaped void in our heart where church used to be.  This void makes us feel restless and insecure and empty.  We remember the fellowship we used to enjoy, and we begin to long for it.  Pretty soon, we begin to look for things to fill the church-shaped void in our heart.

This explains the seemingly endless pursuit of fellowship...

Chip Brogden CHURCH WITHOUT WALLS - Page 13 Empty Re: Chip Brogden CHURCH WITHOUT WALLS

Post  Admin Tue 11 Jan 2022, 7:59 pm

Hello Elaine,

"I don't go to church; I AM the church!"

I like the idea behind that saying, just not the words.

(I'm get really particular over "words".)

That word "church" is overloaded with too much religious and emotional baggage.

So much so that I don't even want to say, "I am the church."

Ugh.

I prefer the word "ekklesia" to refer to the Body of Christ: the assembly of the called-out people.

But if you start going around saying, "I am the Ekklesia" you will get some funny looks.

You have to explain what it means, even to Christians.

And is it wholly accurate?

I don't think any one person can say, "I am the Ekklesia."

It's not a PLACE, but neither is it a PERSON; it is a PEOPLE.

WE are the Ekklesia - but no one person can say they are, by themselves, THE Ekklesia.

But I know one thing I CAN say...

"I AM THE TEMPLE!"

That's true of me, individually, as the temple of the Holy Spirit.

It's also true of us as a people; together, the Ekklesia is the temple.

And that is one of the most significant developments in the history of God's dealings with man: that we can become a dwelling place for God.

And so, when the temple in Jerusalem was destroyed, Israel ceased to exist, and the people were devastated.

But the Temple of the Holy Spirit cannot be destroyed.

The gates of hell will not prevail against the Ekklesia that Jesus is building.

Yet this is all a work in progress.

We still have obstacles to overcome.

The dragon, who deceives the world and leads God's people astray from the simplicity of Christ.

A harlot church system, riding on the back of the beast, drunk with the blood of the prophets that she has chewed up and spitted out.

The world system, constantly screaming for attention and dangling so many attractive and interesting things before us.

And our own propensity towards easy living and effortless spirituality.

It sure seems (when you look around) that we are still far short of God's original thought and intention for the Ekklesia.

So it may interest you to know that this Ekklesia is NOT the final revelation of the temple in Scripture.

That's a good thing, because if THIS is all there is, it would be a real disappointment.

But we are, indeed, heading towards a final and full expression of God's purpose.
What is it?
Join us this week as we explore the final and ultimate revelation of the temple...

Hello Elaine,

When the disciples pointed out the beautiful stones of the Temple, Jesus looked out at the massive Temple and city, wept over it, and warned that there would not be one stone left upon another.

Everything He said came to pass in a single generation.

And yet, while prophesying the destruction of that earthly Temple, He was also prophesying the construction of something far more beautiful:

"I will build My Ekklesia, and the gates of hell will not prevail against it."

What a study in contrasts!

The Temple in Jerusalem, destroyed by the Romans, set ablaze, and leveled to the ground.

The Ekklesia that Jesus is building, able to withstand the gates of hell and the devil himself.

What was Jesus' message to those who had ears to hear?

Get out of Jerusalem - repudiate the very "city of God" and "house of God" and "chosen people" and "Law of Moses" and religious leadership that would soon turn against God's Only Son - and join His Ekklesia.

Those who listened and obeyed, lived.

The rest were starved by hunger, killed by the sword, perished by the flames, or taken away as slaves to Rome.

What is His message today?

The same thing.

Get out of Babylon and join His Ekklesia.

Get out of "Churchianity" and find the True House of the Lord.

Lose your Religion and find your Faith.

In Jesus, what was hidden in the symbology of the temple archetype becomes clear.

God isn't trying to build buildings; He is building a people.

God is the Architect, Jesus is the Master Builder, and WE are His workmanship.

The Temple builders rejected the most important Stone of all.

That Stone is now the Cornerstone of God's plan.

The Temple, and the builders who rejected that Stone?

Burned to ashes, scattered to the four winds.

And Jesus continues to build His Ekklesia.

Join us this week as study the blueprint of God's masterpiece...

WATCH VIDEO
https://theschoolofchrist.org/ahf/

Hello Elaine!

As one of our subscribers and friends, I want to personally invite you to be the first to experience a new online course available through our newly re-opened website: The School of Christ.

Over 20 years ago, we started The School of Christ to help people learn, grow, and strengthen their faith in a Christ-centered way, rather than a church-centered way.

Our goal is the same: To make Christ-centered teaching available to anyone, anywhere, anytime - at little or no cost to them.

"At His Feet" is different from anything we have ever put out. It's more of an "experience" than a course. But it is for anyone who wants to grow closer to the Lord – especially if you want a deeper relationship with God without religion, church, and all the other “stuff” that complicates the simplicity of that relationship.

Please watch the video, and if you like what you see, you can take the course for free (donations are welcome but not required).

We welcome your feedback, and thank  you for your support.

Hello Elaine,

The disciples couldn't resist showing Jesus the beautiful stones and buildings of the Temple complex in Jerusalem.

Those early disciples of Jesus were proud of the outward elements of their religion, and they thought Jesus would be impressed by these tokens.

But Jesus was not impressed then, and He isn't impressed now, by the "things" we build for God.

"Not one stone will be left upon another."

Because the great movement and purpose of God is not towards building buildings, but building people.

Interesting that Jesus said He would build His spiritual Ekklesia even while He prophesied the destruction of the physical Temple.

What a shock to the disciples.

What? No more Temple?

How will we worship God without a Temple to gather in?

What a shock to us, when we realize that the things we consider "beautiful" and "successful" and "necessary" in the eyes of man are unimportant and unnecessary to God's Kingdom.

What? No more church?

How will we worship God without a church to gather in?

Even more shocking when we discover how those "things" we built for God actually get in God's way.

They become objects of veneration and adoration, symbols of foolish boasting, distractions from Spirit-and-Truth worship.

For that very reason, God does not endorse them.

He warned them then - and He warns us now - that all these beautiful buildings will be cast down.

It's time to leave Temple and church religion behind and discover the Ekklesia that Jesus is building.

Join us this week as we discuss these things...

Hi Elaine,

It is not about celebrating WHEN Christ was born, but THAT He was born.

"For unto us a child is born, unto us a Son is given..." (Isa.9:6).

THAT He was born is a miracle.

THAT He died and lives again is marvelous.

THAT He lives in you and me is mind-blowing.

THAT He intends to be "All in All" is mind-boggling.

I especially love the third stanza of that wonderful hymn that so clearly reveals His purpose...

"Truly He taught us to love one another
His law is love and His gospel is peace
Chains shall He break for the slave is our brother
And in His name all oppression shall cease
Sweet hymns of joy in grateful chorus raise we,
Let all within us praise His holy name!"

Karla and I pray that the blessing of Jesus, the One Gift of God, will be with you and all your family and loved ones, today and every day.

Hello Elaine,

Someone once said that God's ends can be seen in God's beginnings.
This is critically important because it means that trying to "hang on" to what God was doing in times past will surely stunt our growth.

So many have tried to find a "New Testament pattern" that they could bring to life in modern times - as if, by duplicating the methods and the meetings, we will once again duplicate the results.
This shows a lack of understanding.

God is moving forward in relation to His Son - not backward.
This is also true in relation to the Ekklesia.

The progressive revelation of the temple, then the successive patterns of Dedication, Demise, and Destruction, should show us that God is moving forward, moving onward, moving upward.

That is to say, the "house of God" was a symbol; the people of God is what God is really looking for.

He is bringing us from types and shadows to Spirit and Truth - provided we will let go of the symbol and walk in the Spirit.

The revelation of the Fourth Temple (immediately after the destruction of the Third Temple) is an example of God bringing us from the physical to the spiritual, from the "place" to the "people," from the shadow to the substance.

BUT (and this is a big BUT)...

It only works if we let go of the old and embrace the new.

Israel failed, not just the first time around by letting Religion destroy their Relationship...

But the second time around, when they rebuilt the thing God destroyed.

Quite frankly, it's easier to rebuild something tangible than to have the spiritual maturity to see something intangible and invisible.

This is not just Israel's problem, but ours.

Israel built Temples; we build churches and family life centers.

And, like Israel, the magnificence of our religious buildings has no bearing whatsoever on the depth of our spiritual relationship with God.
We will explore these things in more detail as we look at the Fourth Temple in our series this week...

Hello Elaine,

Something can start out well but finish terribly.

As I look at the Temple of Solomon I see a microcosm of how religion works - indeed, how just about every church, denomination, group, or movement lives and dies.

It's starts out with Dedication - we dedicate ourselves to the "thing" we are building or doing.

God might even bless that dedication with His presence and with a promise of success, so long as we keep our heart in the right place.

But religion always messes it up.

That is to say, WE mess it up because we get religious.

We begin to attach superstitious and self-righteous significance to what we are building, what we are doing, what we are accomplishing for God.

That begins the Demise - going through the motions, trying to maintain what we have, then trying to go back and "revive" what used to be long after the Glory has departed and the Love has grown cold.

The Demise can take months or years, but the ultimate outcome is Destruction.

And then we moan and think, "Oh, God has abandoned the thing we built for Him!" - when in all actuality, it is WE who abandoned God in the building of the thing we said was for Him but that turned out to be for us.

That is not just the story of the Temple. It is the story of the nation of Israel, the "Christian" harlot church system, the house church movement, all 45,000+ denominations, and many ministries built "for God."

The "work of the Lord" becomes more important than the Lord of the Work.

Can we break this cycle of Dedication, Demise, and Destruction?

Perhaps.

We will examine this in the light of Solomon's temple this week, and apply those lessons to the current time and season...
