Afghan Asylum Seeker Arrested After Deadly Knife Attack in France

An Afghan man who was seeking asylum in France has been arrested in connection with a Saturday knife attack that left one person dead and other victims in critical condition late Saturday.
The attack took place at about 4:30 p.m. in Villeurbanne, which is near Lyon, Fox News reported.
“There was a man at the 57 [bus stop] who started striking out with a knife in all directions,” The (U.K.) Guardian quoted a witness it did not name as saying. VThe report said the witness was a young girl with a blood-stained top.

“There was blood everywhere,” she said.

Villeurbanne Mayor Jean-Paul Bret said witnesses and security staff at a nearby metro station overpowered the attacker, who tried to flee the scene.
The attacker was armed with a kitchen knife and metal spit, police said,
Police did not reveal the name of the 33-year-old Afghan citizen who was detained. The U.K. Daily Mail gave his name as Sultan Marmed Niazi.
France has been plagued by terrorist attacks in recent years and even forced to put up an anti-terrorism barrier around the iconic Eiffel Tower in Paris.

Five asylum seekers aged between 17 and 22 have been convicted in a court in Austria of raping a 13-year-old girl.
The incident occurred in October of last year and saw the 13-year-old girl meet the five asylum seekers at the central railway station in Graz.

The young men are said to have lured the young teen to an apartment where they gave her alcohol and other substances before making her undress, Kronen Zeitung reports.

The migrants, two of which had already been convicted of drug offences, began to become aggressive and eventually violent when the 13-year-old victim attempted to resist them and each is said to have taken turns raping her.

The entire ordeal was also filmed by one of the migrants on his mobile phone. The phone, along with the footage, was later discovered by police.

All of the defendants were sentenced to several years, with one receiving a seven-year sentence but none of the sentences is final as the asylum seekers have filed an appeal in the case.
The case comes two years after a similar gang rape case in Vienna in which eight Iraqi migrants were convicted for gang-raping a German tourist that occurred on New Year’s Eve.
The incident saw the young woman, who was highly intoxicated, taken to an apartment in the second district of the city and repeatedly raped by men between the ages of 22 and 48, most of them related to each other.
All of the men were sentenced to lengthy prison terms with the highest, a ten-year sentence, handed down to a 27-year-old.
Neighbouring Germany has also seen a number of gang rape cases involving migrants since the height of the migrant crisis in 2015. In June, a total of eleven migrants, most of them Syrian, were put on trial for the gang rape of an 18-year-old in Freiburg.

The Trump Administration announced today that it will bypass immigration courts and expedite illegal alien deportations–a tactic already used at the border, but will now apply to those already living in the United States within the past two years.
In a notice, acting DHS Secretary Kevin McAleenan states, “The volume of illegal entries, and the attendant risks to national security and public safety presented by these illegal entries, warrants this immediate implementation of DHS’s full statutory authority over expedited removal.”

President Trump had suggested expanding use of expedited removal in his first set of immigration executive orders, issued just five days after he took office in 2017.

Monday’s move to finally pull the trigger is the latest instance of the president’s team belatedly making good on some of those early ideas.

Mr. McAleenan said the new policy will go into effect immediately.

Migrants could still apply for asylum or other protections under the same rules that apply at the border for expedited removal, the secretary said.

Of course, the ACLU is already gearing up to file a lawsuit agains the Trump Administration over this policy.

“Under this unlawful plan, immigrants who have lived here for years would be deported with less due process than people get in traffic court,” said Omar Jadwat, Director of the ACLU Immigrants’ Rights Project.

US officials confirmed this week that border patrol agents apprehended over 2,200 Central American migrants near El Paso, Texas on Memorial Day; raising serious questions over safety and security throughout the region.

“Border Patrol Agents in the El Paso sector apprehended more than 2,200 undocumented immigrants ‘who entered the country illegally’ on Memorial Day,” reports ABC El Paso.

“The record-setting day began in the boot heel of New Mexico with a large group of more than 200 undocumented immigrants apprehended near the Antelope Wells Port of Entry just after 2 a.m,” adds the local news channel.

Sen. Lindsey Graham unveiled a new immigration proposal two weeks ago that aims to end Central American asylum claims at the US-Mexico border and return unaccompanied children to their home countries.

“Graham’s bill is designed specifically to deal with loopholes he says are encouraging migrants from Central America to make the treacherous journey north and bring children with them. He pointed in particular to the 20-day limit for authorities to hold unaccompanied minors and families before having to release them into the U.S. homeland,” reports Fox News.

“This is a nightmare for smugglers,” Graham said. “This is a godsend to stop the humanitarian disaster.”

“The word is out on the street in Central America if you bring a minor child with you, your chance of being deported goes to almost zero, your hearing date is years away and we release you inside the country and that’s the goal of coming,” he said.

The new legislation would end asylum claims at the US border but would permit individuals to request asylum at US embassies and consulates across Central America.

“If we do these four things, then the incentives created by our laws will cease to exist, this humanitarian disaster will begin to repair itself and I am willing to sit down with Democrats and find a way to address the underlying problem in Central America,” said Graham. “I am willing to put other immigration ideas on the table to marry up with this but what I am not willing to do is ignore this problem any longer.”

Sen. Graham was a key supporter of President Trump’s declaration of a “national emergency” at the border just months ago.

“The Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency announced Tuesday that it had sought custody of two MS-13 members accused of beating and stabbing a 14-year-old girl to death in Maryland last month,” reports Fox News.

“Josue Fuentes-Ponce, 16, of Bladensburg, Md. and Joel Escobar, 17, of Northeast Washington D.C , both natives of El Salvador, were arrested by Prince George’s County (Md.) police last week and charged as adults with first-degree murder in the death of Ariana Funes-Diaz, whose body was found in a creek May 15,” adds the article.

“These individuals had demonstrated violent criminal behavior before, and because they were released in spite of the lawful detainer, they were afforded an opportunity to take a life.” ICE Baltimore Field Office Director Diane Witte said in the statement.

President Donald Trump is taking the fight to America’s so-called “sanctuary cities.” North Carolina recently became the epicenter of the conflict between state and federal authorities when several counties stopped cooperating with immigration officials, prompting Immigration and Customs Enforcement Regional Director Sean Gallagher to take matters into his own hands.

ICE arrested at least 200 undocumented immigrants last week in a statewide operation that agents are calling the “new normal.”

The new normal
“This is the direct conclusion of dangerous policies of not cooperating with ICE,” said Gallagher, the top immigration official in the Carolinas and Georgia. “This forces my officers to go out onto the street to conduct more enforcement.”

Local sheriffs from some of North Carolina’s most populous counties campaigned in 2018 on a pledge to stop cooperating with federal immigration authorities. Police in jurisdictions like Mecklenburg, Wake, McFadden and Durham counties used to notify ICE when they had an illegal immigrant in custody, flagging prisoners under the government’s 287(g) program.

Local deputies would previously cross-check the names of recently detained inmates against a federal database, identifying undocumented immigrants and holding them in place until ICE officials could arrive and begin deportation proceedings. For years, the program was a monumental success across the state, and 1,200 criminal aliens were detained through this system in Mecklenburg County alone last year.

Hitting the streets
Now, however, because North Carolina progressives would rather protect criminal aliens from deportation than defend their own communities, Gallagher says immigration authorities have “no choice” but to intervene. “This is politics over public safety at its worst,” the regional director noted.

During a four day period last week, ICE agents arrested 200 illegal immigrants throughout the state, mostly via traffic stops. A raid on an arms manufacturing plant in Sanford also netted federal agents an additional 25 immigrant arrests.

Ultimately, the most law-abiding illegal immigrants are the ones who pay the steepest price when progressive lawmakers refuse to cooperate with federal immigration efforts. Instead of mainly targeting undocumented immigrants who break the law and end up in jail, sanctuary cities have forced ICE officers to carry out enforcement activities in neighborhoods.

Almost one-third of immigrants taken into ICE custody during raids last week were considered “collateral” arrests, or arrests involving illegal immigrants who lack a criminal conviction or pending charges. Before North Carolina stopped cooperating with ICE officials, collateral arrests comprised just 10 percent of the total.

Gallagher blamed the rise in arrests of relatively law-abiding but illegal immigrants on the lack of cooperation from county sheriffs. “If they’re in the wrong place at the wrong time, my officers will take an enforcement action,” he said.

Crime spree
Of course, the undocumented immigrants detained during traffic stops and in local neighborhoods still broke the law when they decided to enter the country illegally, taking the place of a refugee or a legal immigrant applying for citizenship.

Additionally, ICE stops a shocking number of undocumented immigrants with criminal records during random stops at traffic control points. Of the 200 illegal aliens arrested last week across the state, 25 percent had criminal records, 20 percent had pending charges, and another quarter failed to respond to deportation orders.

Last week’s operation isn’t just an unfortunate byproduct of sanctuary cities. ICE agents are removing foreign criminals through their law enforcement operations, whether these are carried out in U.S. jails or on the streets.

In his first episode of 2019, Fox News anchor Sean Hannity promised to focus on the biggest untold story of the illegal immigration debate by talking about the most direct victims of the border crisis.

On Friday, the Hannity host fulfilled that pledge in a major way, inviting a panel of Angel Moms and Dads onto his 8 p.m. ET show to tell the tragic stories of how their children were killed by illegal immigrants.

Manufactured crisis?
“These are the faces of a ‘manufactured crisis,’” Hannity said in disbelief, asking the camera to pan from left to right to provide his viewers with a sense of the magnitude of the immigration problem. “That is what the media says about all of you and all of your experiences.

“Manufactured? These are real lives,” he insisted.

Hannity gave several families the opportunity to recount the painful details of their loved ones’ demises. Each story was an atrocious example of government negligence, where the system fell abysmally short of protecting American citizens from an imminent and preventable threat.

This narrative is as true for Steve Ronnebeck as it is for any of the other families appearing on Hannity’s Friday program. Ronnebeck’s son Grant was shot “point blank in the face” for a few packs of cigarettes while he was working the graveyard shift at a convenience store on Jan. 22, 2015.

“It gets worse, though,” Hannity explained, “because this same illegal immigrant had held a young woman hostage, brutally raped her, had been in the criminal justice system, how did he ever get out? And how did he not get deported?”

Agney Gibboney, mother of Ronald Gibboney, is experiencing a similarly distressing injustice. She told Hannity how the illegal immigrant who “murdered my son would be coming out of prison next year.”

“He’s getting released, but California being a sanctuary state,” Gibboney is worried that her son’s killer won’t be deported and could “come after me.”

Then, there was Michelle Root, whose 21-year-old daughter Sarah was killed by a street-racing drunk driver. “But Edwin Mejia made a bond because of the judge set a low bond, and he fled. So he is out there,” Root explained.

Lives lost, lives lived
By showcasing the results of decades of failed government policy in the form of surviving family members, Hannity hoped to dispel the Democratic Party narrative that illegal immigration is a “manufactured crisis.” To make that point, however, Hannity implored his guests to talk about more than just the lives that were lost.

He also wanted to hear about the lives that were lived. Hannity recalled how Sarah Root was an “all-American, young, beautiful, 4.0 student, [with] her whole life and career ahead of her.” Her mother talked about how Sarah “saved six additional people that night with her organs” as a registered donor.

“That is what this show is about,” Hannity reminded his viewers. “I want people to see what this manufactured crisis, it is not manufactured.

“I’m so sorry to all of you,” the conservative host said. “I’m so sorry. This has got to stop.”

President Trump returned from a trip to the US’ Mexican border in Texas to declare the flow of illegal immigrants “an invasion.” Trump also his desire to build a border wall, claiming the US “cannot be safe” without one.
“I just got back and it is a far worse situation than almost anyone would understand, an invasion!” the president tweeted, before singling out House and Senate Democratic leaders for failing to provide funding for his planned border wall.

The government has been partially shut down for three weeks as of Friday, with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi refusing to cave to the president’s demand for $5.7 billion in funding to build the wall.

The president has mounted an all-out media offensive against the Democrats, addressing the nation on live television to make the case for the wall earlier this week, and canceling a trip to the World Economic Forum in Davos citing “Democrats intransigence on border security.”

Later that day, flanked by ICE agents and Customs and Border Patrol officers, Trump declared in a video address that “one way or another, we will get it done.”

Trump has characterized the flow of illegal immigrants over the US’ 2,000-mile border with Mexico as an “invasion” before. As thousands of Central American migrants made their way through Mexico towards the US border in October, Trump called their march an “invasion,” and warned them that “our military is waiting for you.”

50,000 migrants were arrested attempting to cross into the US illegally in December, a figure that remains broadly unchanged month-to-month. Almost 30,000 of those migrants were traveling in families, however, up 240 percent since the previous December. In addition, Mexico is the primary source of heroin and methamphetamine smuggled into the US, and a significant source of marijuana, cocaine, and synthetic opioids like fentanyl, according to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

While Mexican drug cartels make an estimated $19-20 billion per year on illegal drug sales in the US, financial concerns closer to home may undo Trump’s plans to build a border wall or barrier. Some 800,000 federal employees have not received a paycheck since the government shut down last month, a situation that might force Trump to capitulate to the Democrats and reopen the government without a wall.

As Trump proclaimed the border situation an “invasion,” news circulated on Honduran social media that a new caravan of migrants is forming and planning on starting the thousand-mile trek to the US border next week. After the last caravan overwhelmed Mexico’s border guards, the country’s government announced more agents will be placed at potential crossing points, to ensure the caravan enters “in a safe and orderly way.”

Sarah Sanders accused of getting it wrong on migrant child deaths

CNN has once again found a way to attack a member of President Donald Trump’s administration.

In this case, after press secretary Sarah Sanders stated that the government is “doing everything” it can to take care of migrant children while they are in border patrol custody, the network went out and found a couple of doctors in private practice to find fault with her statement.

Technically Speaking
When asked about the tragic death of the migrant children and what the United States plans on doing to prevent it from happening again, Sanders stated, “We are doing everything in our capacity to make sure that when people do come, that they’re taken care of so we don’t have these types of instances.”

CNN’s doctors quickly took exception to her wording.

“In hospitals, when someone has a tragic event, a near miss, a drug error, we don’t lead with ‘we’re doing everything we can.’ It’s ideal to lead with ‘let’s make ourselves open to self-criticism to make sure that we’re taking care of the people who come to us for help,” Dr. Buddy Creech said.

One of their major concerns is in how children are treated.

One doctor made the point that children can appear healthy on the outside, yet their bodies are literally breaking down before our eyes.

He believes children should receive more thorough medical screening and possibly be separated if there is even a remote chance the child is sick and could spread that illness to other children.

Changes of Immigration
Much of the problem, according to Dr. Creech, is that the landscape of immigration has changed dramatically in recent years.

The flow at the border used to be made up of mostly single men, but now border patrol is seeing a significant amount of children. Many of them are also unaccompanied.

This presents a significant challenge for border patrol medics, who don’t have the children’s medical history records. Often no parent is there to fill them in.

A second doctor, Dr. William Schaffner, says more specific testing should have been given in the case of the child that most recently died. When the boy was first hospitalized, the doctors did not test him for the flu, according to CNN. After his death, he tested positive for influenza.

CNN’s commentary speaks for itself: “Though the doctors interviewed for this story did not say the agents should have second-guessed the doctors, they noted that Customs and Border Protection, which employs medical professionals, could have asked questions about his care, just as parents are encouraged to do when their children are sick.”

“He was in custody of Customs and Border patrol. They were in place of mom — in loco parentis,” Schaffner stated. “I don’t expect border patrol agents to be medical professionals, but this whole process leaves a lot of questions.”

What everyone continuously forgets to mention is that many migrants are not coming over the border through legal points of entry — instead, they often attempt to cross using dangerous routes to avoid detection.

The deaths of two migrant children who were in the custody of U.S. authorities will now be the topic of a Senate investigation.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), a usually staunch supporter of President Donald Trump and the likely new chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee, has said he will be holding hearings on the deaths of these children.

Bowing to Democrat Pressure
After the news broke that a second child had died in U.S. custody, Democrat Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) announced she wanted to look into the deaths of these children ASAP.

She further insinuated that this was more or less a case of child abuse by U.S. authorities.

But while she blamed the deaths on the border patrol agents, she neglected to mention the short-sighted goals of the parents who are dragging their children across a desert with no medical care and a shortage of supplies for weeks at a time.

Sen. Graham is apparently trying to get ahead of Feinstein by announcing the investigation before Feinstein grabs too many more headlines.

But it is a fairly safe assumption President Trump will not be too thrilled with that announcement.

The Blame Game
While Feinstein was mugging it up in front of the cameras, President Trump took to Twitter to blame Democrats for the death of the children.

On Saturday, Trump tweeted: “Any deaths of children or others at the Border are strictly the fault of the Democrats and their pathetic immigration policies that allow people to make the long trek thinking they can enter our country illegally.”

Because Dems won’t face the facts, these parents are putting the lives of their children in danger.

For the New Year, liberal filmmaker Michael Moore isn’t looking forward to health, happiness, or a new gym membership.

The progressive activist told MSNBC’s Chris Hayes on Friday that his biggest hope for 2018 is to see “as many members of the Trump family in orange jumpsuits as possible.”

Moore’s wish: Trump indictments
Hayes had asked Moore what he’s most looking forward in the new year when Moore said that he’s hoping to see the Trump family indicted and sent to prison.

“That seems mean-spirited,” Hayes quipped. But Moore didn’t hold back.

“It’s really the wrong way to end such a festive time of the year with such animosity toward those who would do wrong to this country, but yes,” the filmmaker said. Take a look:

The problems caused for President Donald Trump over the first migrant caravan have apparently inspired the forming of a second caravan.
Trump, however, is trying to cut the head off the snake by announcing he will quit providing aid to the countries where the caravan is reportedly forming.
Do Something for the Money
The United States has been sending our tax dollars to Honduras, Guatemala, and El Salvador for decades.
For our money, we should be able to expect some cooperation from those governments.
After all, if we are sending hundreds of millions of dollars to help those countries every year, why are so many people still fleeing north?
With news of a new, bigger caravan forming, Trump says enough is enough.
The president took to Twitter on Friday to announce he is going to cut the purse strings immediately.

According to reports, a massive caravan of 15,000 migrants is planning to leave Honduras on January 15 to make the trek north.

But if the Honduran government truly cared about its own citizens, it would stop them before they ever take their first step.

We have already seen the tragedies of the last caravan.

Parents dragging their kids through dangerous conditions for thousands of miles without proper food and water.

Additionally, some of these individuals are sick, conditions that only get worse during their journey.

Two young children who were dragged across the desert recently paid for their parents’ irresponsibility with their lives.

Open borders advocates like Pueblo Sin Fronteras, immigrant-rights activists are encouraging this behavior, and many liberals and Democrats have jumped on board because it helps them undermine the Trump presidency.

It is clear they are exploiting these immigrants, just for the optics of making our president look bad.

This is literally an assault on our borders by these liberals who are using the migrants as pawns in a high-stakes game of chess.

On Tuesday, two border patrol agents were allegedly assaulted by illegal immigrants, and one was taken to the hospital after being attacked, according to Border Patrol.

As agents were arresting several men suspected of being involved in a human smuggling operation near the Arizona border, a 25-year-old Guatemalan national threw dirt in an agent’s face to distract him, Border Patrol said.

He then started swinging his belt, which happened to have a massive belt buckle on it, making it a very damaging weapon.

Eventually, the agents got the man under control, at which point he allegedly spit in an agent’s face.

In a separate incident, a previously-deported man assaulted an agent, according to Border Patrol. The agent and his canine had tracked the illegal border crosser into an isolated area before attempting an arrest.

While Border Patrol indicated that one agent was hospitalized, then released, they did not indicate which incident the agent had been involved in.

A week of violence
On Thursday night, two more agents were assaulted in separate incidents near Imperial Beach in California.

In both cases, the suspects, who were both attempting illegal entry, were eventually arrested.

Other violent incidents have been reported throughout the week all along the border, following the Central American caravan migrants’ attempt to rush the border in California on Sunday.

Immigration Challenges
For some reason, Democrats and the media have latched onto the radical leftist notion that our borders should be completely open.

However, the United States’ immigration laws were put in place for a reason.

If nothing else, the government is responsible for protecting the nation’s borders and ensuring the safety of its citizens.

When Bill Clinton was president, a major focus of his administration was getting control over the number of undocumented immigrants flooding into the country.

Barack Obama, at least early in his career, uttered many of the same words Bill Clinton did.

Then, Donald Trump made it a focal point of his campaign and everything changed.

A group of mostly male migrant caravan members gathered at a bridge in Tijuana just across from the U.S. border yesterday, demanding “better conditions” and pushing to enter the country.
Authorities from the National Human Righs Comission and a migrant support agency told the caravan members their needs would be addressed and suggested they apply for humanitarian visas in Mexico and seek work in Tijuana.
However, one migrant, 22-year-old Oscar Rodriguez of Honduras, told AP he wanted to convince “the United States to open its doors to us.”
Yesterday, President Trump threatened to close the entire border, telling reporters, “If we find that it gets to a level where we are going to lose control or where people are going to start getting hurt, we will close entry into the country for a period of time until we can get it under control,” he said.
“The whole border. I mean the whole border,” he said, adding, “Mexico will not be able to sell their cars into the United States.”
The president yesterday also lamented the amount of criminals within the migrant caravan, saying, “You’re dealing with a minimum of 500 serious criminals, so I’m not going to let the military be taken of advantage of. I have no choice. Do I want that to happen? Absolutely not. You’re dealing with rough people.”
About 34 caravan members were arrested in Tijuana earlier this week for drug possession, public intoxication, disturbing the peace and resisting police, and will be deported to their home countries.
The city’s mayor, Juan Manuel Gastelum stated residents were not comfortable with the caravan and compared the group to a group of 3,000 Haitians who ended up in the city last year after an unsuccessful attempt to reach the United States.
“The Haitians arrived with their papers, with a clear vision,” Gastelum said in an interview, stating they had come to the city  “in an orderly way, they never asked us for food or shelter,” Gastelum said the Haitains rented apartments, made their own food, found jobs and “inserted themselves in the city’s economy” having never been involved in any disturbances.
In contrast, the mayor claims the migrants in the caravan, “had arrived all of sudden, with a lot of people – not all … but a lot – were aggressive and cocky.”

As part of his plan to confront and deter the Central American migrant caravan, President Donald Trump issued a proclamation which rendered ineligible for asylum any non-citizen caught entering the nation illegally, instead mandating that all asylum-seekers make their claim in a legal port of entry.

Of course, that proclamation was immediately challenged in court, and a liberal district judge in San Francisco issued a nationwide injunction to halt Trump’s change to the asylum process. The ruling prompted a swift and heated statement from White House press secretary Sarah Sanders.

Sanders rips “activist judges”
“At this very moment, massive numbers of aliens are arriving at our southern border, threatening to incapacitate our already overwhelmed immigration system,” Sanders said in the official statement.

“Yet now, a single district judge has issued a nationwide temporary restraining order preventing the executive branch from performing its Constitutional duty to enforce our borders and control entry into the United States,” she continued. “This decision will open the floodgates, inviting countless illegal aliens to pour into our country on the American taxpayer’s dime.”

“The court’s ruling is contrary to well-established Federal law, the Attorney General’s and Secretary of Homeland Security’s discretion under the Immigration and Nationality Act, and the President’s own Constitutional and statutory authority,” said Sanders.

“This temporary injunction is yet another example of activist judges imposing their open borders policy preferences, which are rejected by the overwhelming majority of the American people, and interfering with the executive branch’s authority to administer the immigration system in a manner that ensures the Nation’s safety, security, and the rule of law,” she added.

Sanders concluded, “We will take all necessary action to defend the executive branch’s lawful response to the crisis at our southern border.”

The president responds
Prior to departing the White House to spend Thanksgiving in Mar-a-Lago, Trump fielded a few questions from reporters. “What is your reaction to the fact that your asylum policy has been put on hold?” a reporter asked.

Trump’s reply glossed over the district court judge’s ruling and focused instead on the liberal-dominated 9th Circuit Court of Appeals — where his administration typically loses, something liberals know and take full advantage of — indicating that the administration intends to appeal the initial ruling all the way to the Supreme Court, if necessary.

“And the 9th Circuit is really something we have to take a look at because it’s — because it’s not fair. People should not be allowed to immediately run to this very friendly circuit and file their case. And you people know better than anybody what’s happening. It’s a disgrace,” said Trump. “In my opinion, it’s a disgrace what happens with the 9th Circuit. We will win that case in the Supreme Court of the United States.”

Both Sanders and Trump made it abundantly clear that they were none too pleased with the asylum case ruling from the judge in San Francisco, and the president was under no illusions as to how the appeal of that ruling to the 9th Circuit Court would play out.

Officials in Tijuana said they have arrested 34 caravan members and will deport them to their home countries.

A Tijuana city statement late Monday said the 34 — apparently all men — were arrested for drug possession, public intoxication, disturbing the peace and resisting police, and added they would be deported to their home countries. The main caravan has between 4,000 and 6,000 participants, so those arrested represent less than 1 percent of the total.
The news of the deportations comes after reports of fights breaking out between Tijuana residents and migrants.

On Sunday, hundreds locals protested the arrival of the migrants, chanting “Out! Out! Out!” and claimed the arrival of the group was an “invasion.”
Tijuana Mayor Juan Manuel Gastelum stated his city was not comfortable with the caravan and compared the group to a group of 3,000 Haitians who ended up in the city last year after an unsuccessful attempt to reach the United States.

Department of Homeland Security officials announced Monday that over 500 criminals are part of the group of migrants stationed just outside the U.S. border.
Officials said “most of the caravan members are not women and children,” and that a majority of the group is made up of teen and adult males. The women and children–they claimed–were strategically placed at the front of the line to gain sympathetic media coverage.

The Trump Administration has previously stated that it would not accept claims of asylum from migrants who have been caught illegally entering the country at the southern border.  This policy was enacted to deter illegal immigration and ease border enforcement.  The administration’s policy would only allow claims for asylum to be heard at a port of entry with a fair hearing process.

The President claims “aliens who enter the United States unlawfully through the southern border in contravention of this proclamation will be ineligible to be granted asylum,” he wrote. “The arrival of large numbers of aliens will contribute to the overloading of our immigration and asylum system and to the release of thousands of aliens into the interior of the United States.”

As the administration’s policy went into effect, Judge Jon Tigar of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California issued a temporary restraining order late Monday which forced the government to hear all claims for asylum from migrants who have been apprehended by the U.S. Border Patrol for entering the country illegally, directly challenging the policy issued by the President.

On Tuesday, the Departments of Justice and Homeland Security issued a joint statement, “It is lawful and appropriate that this discretionary benefit not be given to those who violate a lawful and tailored presidential proclamation aimed at controlling immigration in the national interest,” according to DOJ spokesman Steven Stafford and DHS spokeswoman Katie Waldman.

“And it is absurd that a set of advocacy groups can be found to have the standing to sue to stop the entire federal government from acting so that illegal aliens can receive a government benefit to which they are not entitled,” they said in reference to the American Civil Liberties Union and Southern Poverty Law Center.

We look forward to continuing to defend the executive branch’s legitimate and well-reasoned exercise of its authority to address the crisis at our southern border. 
DOJ and DHS officials have defended the President’s decision and believe he has the right to amend immigration levels under the Immigration and Nationality Act.

The temporary restraining order is in effect until December 19th at which point a second hearing with be held which the President intends to fight vigorously.

US District Judge Jon Tigar in San Francisco placed a restraining order on Trump’s new immigration policy, which was declared last week.

The president “may not rewrite the immigration laws to impose a condition that Congress has expressly forbidden,” the judge wrote, adding that the rule barring asylum seekers from entering the US outside a port of entry “irreconcilably conflicts” with the existing legislation.

On November 9, the president announced that asylum seekers can now make their claim only at legal points of entry along the US border.

The ruling comes as a massive caravan of Central Americans, which was traveling from Honduras and El Salvador to the US through Mexico, has reached the nation’s border at Tijuana.

President Trump, repeatedly referring to the caravan as an “invasion,” argued that it contains “hardened criminals.” He pledged not to allow the migrants to enter the US illegally and threatened to deploy up to 15,000 troops to help the existing border staff.

(CBN News) – Hundreds of asylum seekers have finished their nearly month-long trek through Central America and are now arriving at the southern border of the United States. Mexican authorities said a group of 357 Central Americans traveling in the caravan arrived in Tijuana Tuesday, and another group of 398 arrived Wednesday. Thousands more are arriving Thursday and in the coming days. Hundreds of them have arrived by bus, flooding the city’s crowded shelters.

Some of them immediately went to a stretch of border fence with the United States to celebrate, scaling the fence chanting, “Yes, we could!” Mexican authorities said they offered to take the migrants to shelters immediately, but they initially refused. Mexico also has offered asylum to them, but many have refused that as well, instead hoping to gain access to the United States. Border Patrol agents with machine guns are guarding the US side of the border. They’re being assisted by 5,800 active duty US troops as well.

Hundreds of Central American migrants from a “breakaway” caravan group reached the US-Mexico border Wednesday; prompting Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis to head to the region as tension swirls.

As the ‘migrant caravan’ approached the border at Tijuana, Secretary Mattis departed for Donna, Texas where he is set to meet with active duty troops patrolling the border as thousands of immigrants march north.
“As we have said repeatedly, being a member of a caravan doesn’t give you any special rights to enter the country,” DHS spokeswoman Katie Waldman told Fox News. “If they arrive at a Port of Entry, they will have to wait in line in keeping with the lawful processes at our ports of entry. If they attempt to enter illegally, they will have violated U.S. criminal law and in accordance with the President’s proclamation and the Interim Final Rule they would be ineligible for asylum.”

“We’ll update you on costs as they become known,” Secretary Mattis told reporters on the estimated price of the deployment. “Obviously, the units executing the border mission have got to report them right up here. We are capturing the costs.”

Refugees arriving in Greece on people smugglers' boats are given a 'migrants handbook' packed with tips, maps, phone numbers and advice about getting across Europe.

Among discarded life jackets and punctured rubber dinghies, Sky News discovered a tattered copy of the unique travel guide washed up on a beach on the Greek island of Lesbos.

The booklet's cover features a photograph of a young man on a beach at sunset, looking longingly out to sea, with oars at his feet after making the treacherous crossing.

The 'rough guide' is written in Arabic and contains phone numbers of organisations which might help refugees making the journey, such as the Red Cross and UNHCR.

Among those behind the booklet are organisations called WatchTheMed-Alarmphone and w2eu, which means 'Welcome To Europe'.

Sonia, who did not want to give her surname, is a volunteer with WatchTheMed and told Sky News: "Activists from our network distribute the guides for free in Turkey".

The guide is distributed to refugees as they come ashore on the Aegean Islands and in Athens and other Greek cities.

She added that other leaflets about safety at sea were distributed to would be migrants before they set out on their journeys with advice on what to do if they get into trouble on the water.

The guide Sky News found also contained a 24-hour hotline number for migrants to call so volunteers can then pass their details to the relevant coastguard.

"We take information about how many people are in the boats if they get into trouble" she said.

"It's a life-saving service we give to refugees. They are going to go anyway, so it's better if we give them advice."

Arabic speaker Sonia takes calls from her home in Austria and is one of a number of volunteers for WatchTheMed.

"We are a big group of about 100 people" she said. "We are based across Europe and North Africa."

The first of many caravans of migrants making their way to the U.S. to claim asylum has reached Mexico City.
Hundreds of members of the caravan arrived in Mexico’s capital over the weekend, with around 450 people being given temporary shelter at a sports stadium in Mexico City.

Additionally, a separate, 4,000-strong caravan, split up into several groups with one spending the night in a town in the coastal state of Veracruz, according to a report from The Washington Times.

The divisions came during a tense day in which tempers flared and some migrants argued with caravan organizers and criticized Mexican officials. They were upset that Veracruz Gov. Miguel Angel Yunes had reneged on an offer late Friday to provide buses on Saturday to help assist the migrants on their trek to Mexico City.

Federal officials told the mayor of Cordoba and the governor of Veracruz that they could be prosecuted for human trafficking if they provided buses, so they withdrew the offer.
Four caravans are currently traveling inside Mexico, totaling some 12,000 Central American migrants.

The Central American migrant caravan making its way through Mexico toward the U.S. border has garnered much attention from conservatives who have warned that criminals, dangerous gang members, and even terrorists could be mixed in among the thousands of relatively innocent migrants seeking asylum.
Chief among those warning about the caravan is Fox News host Sean Hannity, who said during his daily radio program on Friday that some in the caravan may be planning to “firebomb anybody that gets in their way.”

Hannity said: “There’s a DHS study, Department of Homeland Security — and listen to this, we’re getting more information — Department of Homeland Security has identified at least 270 members of the caravan now heading to the U.S. border who are violent convicted criminals.”

Hannity drops bombshell about “firebombs”
As part of their perpetual effort to discredit Hannity, far-left smear merchants Media Matters shared a brief clip of Hannity’s program that featured him speaking about the dangers posed by some in the caravan, with the clear insinuation being that Hannity had no supporting evidence for his claims and was simply lying and fear-mongering to his audience.

“We had, according to a top Mexican official, some caravan members are planning to firebomb anybody that gets in their way,” Hannity revealed.

But if Media Matters had listened to Hannity past the point where he mentioned “firebombs,” they may have heard him reference a release from DHS titled “Myth vs. Fact: Caravan” which answered numerous basic questions about the caravan and the federal government’s response to it.

Instead, they chose to ignore that and smear Hannity as an ignorant liar and conspiracy theorist.

DHS report on caravan
The DHS release noted that “over 270 individuals along the caravan route have criminal histories, including known gang membership. Those include a number of violent criminals — examples include aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, armed robbery, sexual assault on a child, and assault on a female.”

Further, it is known to U.S. and Mexican officials that “criminal groups” have “infiltrated” the caravan, and that the caravan does not only comprise people from Central America, but in fact contains individuals from some 20 different nations, including countries like “Somalia, India, Haiti, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh.”

The Mexican ambassador to the U.S. said on Oct. 29 that some members of the caravan have been “very violent” toward lawful authorities.

On Oct. 30, Mexican Interior Minister Navarette Prida told a local radio station of the known criminals in the caravan: “We know, for a fact, that some members of the caravan threatened (Mexican) Migration Institute personnel and we have images showing many of them preparing Molotov cocktails.”

That report shows that Hannity was entirely accurate in what he said on his radio show — despite reports to the contrary from Media Matters.

The left absolutely refuses to admit it, but the migrant caravan moving through Mexico is not composed entirely of poor women and starving children who are simply trying to flee their own terrible countries for a chance to immigrate to America.

It also contains known convicted criminals, known gang members and potential terrorists, many of whom have already shown that they will resort to violence to get their way.

Last week, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) accused President Donald Trump of resorting to “fear-mongering and conspiracy theories” when he suggested that Democrats were funding the massive migrant caravan currently marching toward America’s southern border. But don’t expect a retraction from publishers like the New York Times and The Guardian now that Vice President Mike Pence has presented proof that the migrant caravan has been sponsored by left-wing groups.

Citing intelligence from foreign partners and Honduras President Juan Orlando Hernández, Pence told Fox News that “the caravan was organized by leftist organizations” and “funded by outside groups.”

The leftist connection
Speaking to Fox News reporter Peter Doocy, Pence recalled that the president directed him to call Central Americans leaders when the caravan was first forming.

“What the president of Honduras told me is that the caravan was organized by leftist organizations, political activists within Honduras, and he said it was being funded by outside groups, and even from Venezuela,” Pence said. “So the American people, I think, see through this – they understand this is not a spontaneous caravan of vulnerable people.”

Pence’s revelation came as he was barnstorming through the American southwest this week ahead of the Nov. 6 midterm elections. The vice president was answered with cheers and applause when he told supporters in Yuma, AZ and Roswell, NM that the border would be closed to the migrant caravan.

“Anyone coming up in this caravan should just turn around,” Pence told Fox News.  “They should go home, or they should apply for asylum in Mexico.”

Fake news frenzy
This isn’t the first time that the liberal media has ignored indigenous foreign intelligence sources in favor of analysis from their own reporters who sit in cushy, air-conditioned offices thousands of miles from Central America. After President Trump floated the possibility that “unknown Middle Easterners” could be “mixed in” with the migrant caravan, media sources dismissed the allegation as “fake news” and mocked Fox News for reporting on a potential ISIS threat from Guatemala:

In fact, this wasn’t just an attempt to terrify Americans. At a recent security conference attended by Pence, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, and other Latin American leaders, Guatemala President Jimmy Morales saidt his administration has captured “close to 100 persons completely involved with terrorists, with ISIS, and we have not only detained them within our territory, but they have been deported to their country of origin.”

Even Trump acknowledged that “there’s no proof of anything,” suggesting that foreign terrorists infiltrated the caravan. But to dismiss this potential threat, like much of the mainstream media has in an attempt to discredit the administration, is reckless and imprudent.

The complicit left
If American liberals aren’t directly responsible for funding the migrant caravan, they certainly create the conditions in Congress to encourage illegal immigration. Pence explained as much during his Fox News interview, saying:

We’ve been blocked by liberals in the United States Senate that stood in the way of immigration reform. That 60-vote margin that the President talks about all the time has prevented us from taking up this issue. Democrats are opposed to building a wall, they’re opposed to securing the border. There are leading voices in the Democratic Party that actually want to abolish the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency.

Yet, time and again, the left’s allies in the mainstream press have insisted that Democrats have nothing to gain by supporting the migrant caravan. If this is true, then why have congressional Democrats vowed to block any attempts to fix the family separation crisis at the border?

If Democrats don’t have anything to gain by encouraging a 6,000-strong mob of illegal immigrants to come to the U.S., then why has the “Abolish ICE” movement been embraced by mainstream Democrats?

The bottom line is that thousands of desperate illegal immigrants are headed to the U.S., and they were mobilized by liberal political operatives. Democrats are quick to point out that they come from areas of high crime and corruption, but they fail to acknowledge that there may be criminals among them.

Fortunately, the Trump administration is poised to turn them around and send them home by the busload.
