Former CNN ‘Journalist of the Year’ winner confesses to falsifying reports
December 22, 2018

Former CNN ‘Journalist of the Year’ winner confesses to falsifying reports
Evan El-Amin / Shutterstock.com
A renowned journalist has just been exposed for writing fake news.

Claas Relotius, a star journalist and editor with the German magazine Der Spiegel, was internationally recognized for his work, and was even awarded “Journalist of the Year” in 2014 by CNN International. But Relotius, 33, was fired earlier this week after it was discovered that, over the past few years, he had falsified information in over a dozen stories, including a feature on supporters of President Donald Trump.

“Claas Relotius, a reporter and editor, falsified his articles on a grand scale and even invented characters, deceiving both readers and his colleagues,” Der Speigal announced on Wednesday.

Intentional falsification
Relotius did not come under suspicion until recently, when he was working with a partner on an article titled “Jaeger’s Border,” a story about a vigilante group patrolling the U.S. – Mexico border. The coworker, who also had a byline on the story, became suspicious and investigated.

Faced with his partner’s accusations, Relotius eventually confessed to falsifying parts of the story, as well as parts of at least 13 others, including several reports which had received or been nominated for journalism awards.

Upon being informed, Der Spiegel took action. In addition to firing Relotius, the magazine published an article detailing his “large-scale journalistic fraud.”

“Claas Relotius committed his deception intentionally, methodically and with criminal intent,” Der Spiegel wrote.

Stereotyping Trump supporters
One corrupted story, in particular, was titled “In a small town” — a story centered on Fergus Falls, Minnesota, where, he wrote, “people pray for Trump on Sundays.” Relotius’ obvious goal was to use this to paint a picture of a Middle America town that voted for Trump in the 2016 presidential election.

But according to Der Spiegel, Relotius used either false information or complete fabrications for the story.

“He invented grotesque lies and reported, for example, that the students at the John F. Kennedy high school drew their role models for the American dream as follows: ‘They did not draw a single picture of a woman,’ Relotius wrote. ‘One class drew Barack Obama, two drew John D. Rockefeller. Most of them drew Donald Trump.’ All of this is pure fiction,” wrote the magazine. “Every single bit is concocted bunk.”

Relotius invented a waitress with kidney disease who was unable to get treatment under Obamacare, a city administrator who was a virgin and did not want a female U.S. president (presumably Hillary Clinton), and a Fergus Falls student who went on a field trip to Trump Tower rather than the Statue of liberty.

He additionally lied about several aspects of the town, including that it had a welcome sign which read, “Mexicans Keep out” and that the movie “American Sniper” was still in theaters to sold-out crowds — despite the fact that it was two years after the movie release. He also described a scene from a downtown cafe that, in reality, doesn’t have windows.

Do you think this "journalist" is but one of many "fake news" anti-Trump reporters?
Yes
No
Next
“I’m sick”
According to Der Spiegel, when it confronted Relotius about his made-up news stories, he said, “I’m sick and I need to get help.”

In addition to losing his job at the German magazine, he was also stripped of the journalism awards he received from CNN in 2014. Der Speigel is continuing their investigation of Relotius’ work.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders torches Senate Democrats over failure to protect American citizens
December 23, 2018 by Jerry McCormick

The entire Trump administration is frustrated with Democrats’ inabiilty to work with President Donald Trump on border security — especially Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders.

In fact, Sanders issued a scathing rebuke to a party that refuses to put Americans first last week, saying: “It’s a sad day in America when Mexican government is doing more to protect the American people than Senate Democrats.”

What About the People?
It seems the bulk of those elected to office have forgotten why they are actually in office.

They are called representatives for a reason; elected officials are supposed to support the will of the people.

Indeed, they are supposed to represent the voters that put them into office.

And above all else, they are supposed to put the welfare of American citizens first.

But that clearly is not happening right now.

While the president has been adamant that he wants to put America first, Democrats are continuing to put the welfare of individuals breaking the law to enter this country ahead of American citizens.

By definition, illegal immigrants are criminals. There is simply no other way to look at it.

Furthermore, they are criminals that should not even be in this country — but still, they are the priority of the Democratic Party.

Must Be Stopped
It has gotten so bad that Mexico is currently doing more to stop illegal immigrant into our country than our own government.

To this point, Sanders stated: “One thing that I think has been missed and didn’t get a lot of coverage yesterday was what we have worked out, what this administration has been able to do in conjunction with the Mexican government and the massive and monumental moment that took place yesterday where catch-and-release has ended.”

Shockingly, sanctuary cities and states in our own country are still practicing catch-and-release with undocumented immigrants.

Do you think Trump should get the $5 billion in funding he requested for the border wall?
Yes
No
Next
In a few notable cases, some of those released have gone on to commit horrific crimes against American citizens, including rape and murder.

Hopefully, Democrats will soon stop voting “no” on legislation simply because it was presented by Republicans, and actually consider the ramifications their actions have on those who voted them into office.

Trump Jr.’s girlfriend tells Americans they can have a merry Christmas because of Trump
December 21, 2018 by Jerry McCormick

Kimberly Guilfoyle, the girlfriend of President Trump’s son, Donald Jr., says there is one person to thank this Christmas season: President Donald Trump.

Guilfoyle penned a recent op-ed on The Daily Caller wherein she made everyone aware of Trump’s achievements during his first two years in the White House.

A Merry Christmas
Americans have a lot to be thankful for this holiday season, and according to Guilfoyle, much of that came at the hand of our current president.

Guilfoyle was quick to point out some of the main achievements of this presidency had nothing at all to do with party and everything to do with Americans — all Americans — getting ahead.

For instance, the First Step Act was signed earlier in the week.

This bipartisan legislation was aimed at giving those who have served time in prison a second chance at life.

Along with this legislation, Americans are enjoying a robust jobs market — so robust, in fact, that even some of the most liberal publications have stated that they have never seen anything like it before.

One of the figures of which Trump is most proud is the record-low unemployment among African Americans.

While Barack Obama let minorities down on this front, Trump was not only able to get them back to work, but he also reduced the number of families collecting entitlement programs like food stamps.

Everyday people are actually prospering under this president — and Guilfoyle didn’t want readers to forget it in her editorial.

Presidential Policies
Guilfoyle went on to note that on the worldwide front, Trump has been working hard to flip trade deficits he believes are hurting American businesses.

He has taken on countries like Mexico and China, which have been taking advantage of the United States for decades.

Do You Think Trump is Doing a Good Job as President?
Yes
No
Next
He is also rebuilding our military and, finally, putting America first.

While the mainstream media tries to portray an administration in turmoil, Guilfoyle is adamant that 2019 should be filled with optimism, not the doom and gloom Democrats and liberals insist is in our future.

Video: Sarah Sanders’ best moments as press secretary revealed
December 20, 2018 by Jerry McCormick
https://www.patriotnewsalerts.com/video-sarah-sanders-best-moments-as-press-secretary-revealed/?utm_medium=ci&utm_source=push&utm_campaign=pna
While we see her on almost a daily basis, it is truly hard to appreciate the nonsense Sarah Huckabee Sanders has had to deal with during her time as President Donald Trump’s press secretary.

A new video compiled by IJR is blowing up on social media, highlighting some of Sanders’ best moments defending the president and standing up to the media.

Watch below:

The Liberal Media
It is tough to remember there ever being a more difficult time for someone to be a press secretary for a sitting president.

From Trump’s very first day in office, his administration has been under attack.

Typically, a new president will get a bit of a grace period to allow the administration to take hold, but that never happened here.

It did not take long for Sanders’ predecessor, Sean Spicer, to give in.

Suddenly, Sanders was thrust into the role, enduring attack after attack by a media establishment that is obviously only interested in undermining the President.

Through it all, she has stood her ground and relentlessly countered the attacks.

Bogus Narrative
One of the more amusing moments highlighted in the video is when Sanders called out the media for being fake news.

There was a time when at least one quotable source was required for a story to be reported.

When there was not someone willing to go on the record, the editors had to be able to verify the story from at least two sources.

Today, media outlets like CNN need only hear a couple of people talking around a water cooler to declare them credible as an unnamed source.

How many times have we seen a story blow up on the internet only to have it debunked a few days later?

Do You Think Sarah Sanders is Doing a Good Job as Press Secretary?
Yes
No
Next
It takes a very strong person to stand up to such scrutiny and such an endless stream of attacks, yet Sarah Sanders has done exactly that.

One thing is for sure… if she ever decides to step down — and nobody could blame her for doing that at this point — the person that replaces here will have VERY big shoes to fill.

While pundits speculate Pence replacement, Trump stands with VP ahead of 2020

While pundits speculate Pence replacement, Trump stands with VP ahead of 2020
Michael Vadon / CCL
Rumors are once again circulating about a possible replacement for Vice President Mike Pence on Donald Trump’s 2020 presidential ticket — but according to one columnist, there’s no doubt the president is standing with his VP.

The latest replacement rumors stem from the Oval Office meeting last week wherein President Trump, flanked by a silent Pence, got in a heated battle with Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Rep. Nanci Pelosi (D-CA) about his long-promised border wall and a possible government shutdown to get the funding he needs. But according to columnist Joshua Spivak, there’s no need to worry about Trump replacing his 2016 running mate.

Sticking with his roots
Writing for the Los Angeles Times, Spivak maintained that “there are very few examples of a vice presidential choice mattering all that much to voters” in U.S. history.

“Some vice presidents have provided an energy boost for a particular ticket,” Spivak wrote, explaining, “Sarah Palin’s selection in 2008 created a stir in John McCain’s campaign, but it is unclear if she managed to help, hurt or do nothing for McCain’s ultimately unsuccessful campaign.”

Spivak went on to note that “vice presidential choices have made even less of a difference when a presidential candidate is seeking reelection. Incumbents run on their record, not their choice of running mates.”

Spivak, who runs The Recall Elections Blog and is a senior fellow at the Hugh L. Carey Institute for Government Reform at Wagner College, also asserted that “changing vice presidents can seem both desperate and disloyal,” another reason Trump is unlikely to replace him on the 2020 ballot.

Do you approve of Mike Pence's job performance as Vice President?
Yes
No
Next
Expanding his base?
But Spivak said that while “Trump will probably calculate that the value of replacing a VP is unlikely to be worth the cost,” there are some reasons for the president to ditch Pence, who was the governor of Indiana prior to moving to the White House.

“Among Trump’s evangelical supporters in particular, Pence is an asset (and an attractive fail-safe in case of impeachment), but because Trump has proved to have such a strong lock on his base, the upside of replacing Pence could compensate for the risks of getting rid of him,” Spivak wrote. “By getting a new running mate, Trump might be able to gain votes beyond that base.”

Moreover, rumors about Trump questioning Pence’s loyalty have been going around for some time now.

“In one conversation after another he has asked aides and advisers a pointed question: Is Mike Pence loyal?” a New York Times report from early November alleged of the president. “Mr. Trump has repeated the question so many times that he has alarmed some of his advisers.”

But the president shut down the rumors soon after via Twitter.

Trump continued his attack on the article later that day, saying that if the authors had asked him for a quote, he would have been happy to tell them that “Mike Pence is 100 percent. Not even a doubt about it in my mind. He’s been a trooper. He’s been with me from as soon as I won the primaries. I could not be happier.”

Meanwhile, outlets like Newsweek have already speculated on possible replacements for Pence, including outgoing U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki Haley.

Dershowitz: Campaign Finance Violations Doesn’t Mean Impeachment
By Staff Writer
December 18, 2018 | 7:34 AM EST

On Monday, Harvard Law School Professor Emeritus Alan Dershowitz said he believes President Trump can’t be impeached for campaign finance violations caused by former Trump attorney Michael Cohen.

During an interview on “The Laura Ingraham Show,” Dershowtiz said, “I don’t think [Trump]’s in trouble on campaign finance because people forget that a candidate can contribute as much as he or she wants to their own campaign. The only issue in the case is whether or not the hush money, which was legal, was paid properly.”

It does not seem to me that is an impeachable offense or an offense that would result in any kind of serious prosecution

“Was it done through personal funds, corporate funds, campaign funds?” Dershowitz added. “And we don’t know the answer to that question, so it does not seem to me that is an impeachable offense or an offense that would result in any kind of serious prosecution.”

Michael Cohen was sentenced to three years in prison last week in federal court for breaking campaign finance laws twice when he made a deal with women claiming to have had affairs with Trump to remain silent prior to the 2016 election.  The prosecutors also charged him with tax and bank fraud which was the cause for the bulk of his prison sentence.
Cohen will serve three years concurrently with a two-month sentence for charges of lying to Congress about a possible Trump real estate project in Moscow.  This charge was added by special counsel Robert Mueller but recommended a reduced sentence for his cooperation.

The incoming House Judiciary Committee chairman, Jerry Nadler, D-N.Y., may look into the sentencing memo from the Cohen case and try to turn that into a cause for impeachment.

“Whether they are important enough to justify an impeachment is a different question, but certainly they’d be impeachable offenses because even though they were committed before the president became president, they were committed in the service of fraudulently obtaining the office,” Nadler said to CNN early in the month.

Trump is currently not under investigation for any campaign violations caused by his former attorney.

Trump’s economic policies lead to record low unemployment among black Americans
December 9, 2018

Trump’s economic policies lead to record low unemployment among black Americans
Max Goldberg / CCL
President Donald Trump is continuing to deliver on his economic promises to all Americans, including minorities who have traditionally been left behind during times of progress. For the second time in a single year, the unemployment rate among black Americans fell to a record low of 5.9 percent in November as the U.S. economy continues to grow at a remarkable rate.

Rates haven’t been this low since the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) began tracking unemployment among ethnic groups in 1972. In fact, based on the shrinking employment gap between black workers and the rest of the labor force, economists have good reason to suspect that the current unemployment rate among African-Americans is the lowest ever experienced.

All-time record
The latest figures show that the overall unemployment rate remains at 3.7 percent for the third month in a row. Meanwhile, the unemployment rate among African-Americans fell by .3 percent in a single month, and the new record ties the low achieved in May.

Besides black workers, the most notable job gains went to adult men and workers who lack a high school diploma. Employers have complained that they don’t have the labor pool to fill jobs, so companies are staffing positions with people with lower education levels, causing the unemployment rate among workers who lack a high school diploma to decline to 3.5 percent — the lowest since December 2000.

Despite the rosy outlook, African-Americans continue to lag behind other groups and currently experience the highest rates of unemployment. Among Hispanics, for instance, the rate is 4.5 percent, while whites currently experience unemployment at 3.4 percent, and Asians stand at 2.7 percent.

A promise fulfilled
During his victory speech in November 2016, Trump promised to “be president for all Americans,” and so far, he seems to be on track. Thanks to the GOP tax reform bill, 90 percent of wage earners have experienced higher take-home pay since he took office, and employers are now increasing wages at rates not experienced since before the recession.

“Wage growth has been really solid in 2018…and is ending the year in a very strong place,” Andrew Chamberlain, chief economist at Glassdoor, told NBC News.

The Trump administration has also been successful in combatting poverty, which disproportionately affects black families.

“Average taxpayers with incomes between $10,000 and $20,000, a group that frequently claims refundable tax credits, will have no tax liability and receive an additional refund,” a Joint Economic Committee report from Congress states. According to the report, “those with less than $10,000 in income will see their taxes slashed by more than half.”

America first
Moreover, black men are the demographic most likely to benefit from immigration enforcement, since legal and illegal immigrants tend to take jobs from black communities. An Obama White House report from 2016 concluded that “immigration reform would raise the overall [labor] participation rate by bringing in new workers of prime working age.”

This means that President Trump’s tough stance on immigration is a boon to black workers. His administration has granted fewer visas and cut the number of refugees admitted every year.

“These are measures that will make our community safer and more prosperous,” Trump said in January. “These reforms are supported by the overwhelming majority of Americans.”

Indeed, a recent Harvard-Harris poll found that black Americans prefer reducing legal immigration more than any other demographic. A full 85 percent believe that the U.S. should allow fewer than the 1 million or more immigrants allowed entry before Trump, and 54 percent want to see just 250,000 legal immigrants allowed in the country every year.

Should Trump receive more credit for reducing unemployment rates among minority communities?
Yes
No
Next
Surprise, surprise
Many left-leaning pollsters have dismissed the results of Rasmussen polls showing that Trump enjoys a 36 percent approval rating among African-American voters. But even discredited leftist outlets like CNN have to admit: “It does actually seem that Trump has gained support among African-Americans since the 2016 election.”

Having branded the president as an unapologetic racist, Democrats can’t possibly fathom how their most loyal voters could tolerate Trump. In the words of the Democratic campaign strategist James Carville: “It’s the economy, stupid.”

Ex-federal prosecutor says ‘it’s clear’ President Trump will be indicted

Andrew McCarthy, a former federal prosecutor, believes dark days are ahead for President Donald Trump.

During a Fox & Friends interview, McCarthy said: “It’s clear that Trump is the target and he’ll be indicted eventually.”

New York Problems
Other than possible embarrassment and some bad press, not much is expected to come from the now-two-year-long investigation being conducted by Special Counsel Robert Mueller.

However, the case that was referred to New York prosecutors against former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen might be another matter altogether for President Trump.

McCarthy believes the language used by the courts in the Cohen case makes it quite clear that President Trump is the real target of the investigation.

He also believes that even though Trump is the sitting president and cannot be indicted while in office, that will not protect Trump.

McCarthy believes the case will go through the processes, leading to an indictment that will be pursued after Trump is no longer the president.

After reading the sentencing memo on Cohen, McCarthy said plainly: “I can’t come to any other conclusion.”

Trump Denials
All of this stems from “hush money” being paid to two women who claimed to have had affairs with President Trump.

One of the women, Stormy Daniels, was paid through Michael Cohen, then Trump’s attorney.

Cohen recently flipped on Trump and stated he was acting at the direction of Trump the entire time, something Trump claims is false.

Trump insists Cohen made the payment before advising him of it, but Cohen later requested reimbursement for the payment.

The president has admitted to paying Cohen, but he and his attorneys have stated that money was paid from private funds, not campaign funds.

Do You Think Trump Will Be Indicted for Campaign Finance Violations?
Yes
No
Next
This all comes down to who the courts are going to believe.

Is Trump simply lying to save his own skin or did Cohen lie and tell prosecutors what they wanted to hear in order to get a lighter sentence? Hopefully, we’ll have answers soon.

Trade war tensions between the United States and China are now at an all-time high with the arrest and detention of Huawei’s CFO, Meng Wanzhou.

However, White House Economic Advisor Larry Kudlow insists that President Donald Trump was not aware of the move against Meng as he was negotiating a trade war truce with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Venezuela at the recent G-20 Summit.

Why Meng Was Arrested
Meng is being held in Canada for violating sanctions put on Iran by the United States.

She has been in Canada since Dec. 1 awaiting extradition.

Canadian prosecutors have said that she was integral in helping Huawei, a major manufacturer of smartphones, dodge Iranian sanctions.

To add even more tension the situation, Meng also happens to be the daughter of the founder of the company.

Meng first appeared in court on Friday, but the judge has delayed the decision on whether she should be freed on bail.

Meng’s legal team has cited medical issues as part of her defense as to why she should be released.

Reportedly, after she was arrested, she was taken to the hospital to be treated for hypertension. Her attorney argued that this, in addition to her ties in Canada, does not make her a threat to flee to back to China.

The case is expected to resume on Monday with a decision by the judge.

Trade Future
The initial warrant for her arrest was issued and signed in late August, which led many pundits to believe that Trump knew about this and was not negotiating with China in good faith at the summit.

The Trump administration, however, has been adamant that the president was not made aware of the warrant and that it had no impact whatsoever in his stance with China.

Should Meng Be Released on Bail?
Yes
No

Meanwhile, the market on Friday reflected the concern investors have on how this will impact the future of trade between the United States and China.

As the Asian markets opened on Monday morning, that plunge continued, as it did for futures here in the United States.

Congressman Mark Meadows for White House Chief of Staff?
By Staff Writer
December 11, 2018 | 7:27 AM EST

Congressman Mark Meadows, R-N.C, recently put his name out there for the White House Chief of Staff position after John Kelly leaves at the end of the year.

In a statement to the Washington Examiner Meadows said, “serving as [White House] Chief of Staff would be an incredible honor.  The President has a long list of qualified candidates and I know he’ll make the best selection for his administration and for the country.”

In a jam-packed news weekend, President Trump announced that current White House Chief of Staff, John Kelly, would be leaving at the end of the year.  There has been much tension between Trump and Kelly for quite some time and some reports even suggest they’re no longer on speaking terms.

If Meadows took the job, President Trump could gain some political capital amongst Republicans and his base.  Meadows was first elected to the House in 2012 and is currently heads the House Freedom Caucus.  This caucus is known for very right-leaning ideology and sticks to their conservative principals.  As Chief of Staff, Meadows could walk the tightrope between the very conservative side of the party and Trump could win over the moderate Republicans.
The next chief of staff would undoubtedly have to deal with multiple congressional investigations that the Democrats are pushing.  Meadows has been a persuasive member of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee and could possibly help navigate the harsh road ahead with knowledge of operations and procedures.

It was rumored that the Nick Ayers, the current chief of staff for Vice President Pence, was set to take over the position for President Trump however Trump wanted a two-year commitment.  The 36-year-old Ayers is a father to three children and couldn’t commit to such a long term. He also announced over the weekend that he would be leaving his current position at the end of the year.

Michael Avenatti says Trump should be indicted in Twitter tirade

Avenatti believes then-candidate Trump committed two felonies and should be indicted. “Now.”

The Case
Avenatti’s tweet was inspired by an announcement by New York federal prosecutors.

The prosecutors alleged that President Trump directed Cohen to make payments to Stormy Daniels and Karen McDougal during the 2016 campaign season.

Both women claimed they had affairs with Trump and wanted hush money.

Cohen reportedly made a payment directly to Daniels, which Trump initially said he was unaware of.

However, it was later revealed Trump reimbursed Cohen for the payment — and that is the point Avenatti is focusing on. He is claiming Trump made the payment with campaign funds, which would be a campaign finance violation.

But that argument has been countered by Trump’s team, who claim that Trump made the payment with personal funds, not campaign funds.

Headline Hog
This is just Avenatti trying to become relevant again and nothing more.

His name quickly disappeared from the guest appearance list on liberal media outlets after he was charged with domestic violence.

Avenatti will now do anything he can to get his name back in the headlines, so there is very little anyone can trust right now that is actually coming out of his mouth.

His charges that Trump and his representatives knowingly lied to a judge could, if true, lead to serious legal problems for the president.

Do You Think Avenatti is Right and Trump Should Be Impeached?
Yes
No
Next
But either way, Avenatti will not stop beating this drum — regardless of the facts.

Whether anything actually comes of this remains to be seen.

White House Chief of Staff John Kelly has resigned

As President Donald Trump was heading to the Army v. Navy football game, he dropped a bombshell on the media.

Trump confirmed that his current chief of staff, John Kelly, will be leaving his post by the end of the year.

Not Really Retirement
President Trump was very careful not to call Kelly’s choice to leave the administration an actual retirement.

The wording the president used as he discussed the matter with the media made it sound as though Trump fully expected Kelly to serve in some other role in the near future.

Kelly, however, has been mum on the subject, so this is all speculation at this point.

Calming Influence
Few would argue that Kelly brought a much-needed calming influence to this administration.

Prior to Kelly, the seasoned Reince Priebus had been Trump’s chief of staff.

The consensus was that Priebus was being rewarded for holding the party together during the election.

While that may be the case, it was quite apparent early on Priebus did not have what it took to have such a high-ranking position within the Trump organization.

Priebus skirted around a lot of issues, and the White House was reported to have been in chaos with him in charge.

Kelly came in and immediately brought order to the administration.

No longer were individuals allowed to freely walk into the Oval Office, as Kelly strictly regulated who had face time with Trump.

Moving Forward
Nick Ayers, who is currently serving as VP Mike Pence’s chief of staff, is believed to be the name at the top of the list for Kelly’s replacement.

He has plenty of political experience and is much better suited to the current climate.

He can likely better navigate the waters of an opposition Congress and a re-election campaign.
Did Kelly Do a Good Job as Trump’s Chief of Staff?
Yes
No
Next
It will surely be sad to see Kelly leave the administration, but considering what is on the horizon, it is probably the best move for the administration.

Thank you for your service, Mr. Kelly.

Trump reaffirms support of death penalty for cop killers

President Donald Trump on Friday reaffirmed his position that convicted cop killers should be sentenced to death. “We believe the right punishment for all cop killers is called the death penalty,” the president said.

Trump renewed his position during a speech to law enforcement officers at a Kansas City Project Safe Neighborhoods conference.

“It’s called the death penalty”
“You know in some circles that is very controversial to say that — and we have all of the television cameras rolling back here — for me it’s not even a little bit controversial,” said Trump. “You kill a cop, and it’s called the death penalty, OK.”

Watch Trump’s full speech below:
Project Safe Neighborhoods is a Justice Department initiative that seeks to assist law enforcement in specifically targeting the most crime-ridden areas in communities by improving connections between law enforcement, prosecutors, and community leaders, as well as by increasing the prosecution of violent criminals.

“This effort brings together law enforcement, community groups and local leaders together to get the most violent criminals in the most dangerous areas off the streets and behind bars,” Trump explained Friday.

Campaign promises
Support of law enforcement has been a common refrain for the president since his presidential campaign in 2016. As a presidential candidate, Donald Trump promised that, should he win, he would sign an executive order requiring the death penalty for convicted cop killers. But so far, this has been one campaign promise that Trump has yet to fulfill.

Trump has brought up the death penalty multiple times, including in May during a ceremony honoring fallen law enforcement officers. “We’re not going to let bad things happen to our police,” he said in May. “We believe criminals who kill our police should get the death penalty.”

In October, Trump again told law enforcement in Florida, “Reducing crime begins with respecting law enforcement. We believe that criminals who kill our police officers should immediately, with trial, but rapidly as possible, not 15 years later, 20 years later—get the death penalty.”

Despite the talk, it doesn’t seem to be coming to fruition any time soon, as a proposal has yet to be placed before Congress.

Protecting our protectors
As a form of punishment, the death penalty remains controversial. Party affiliation is not the dividing line, as it tends to be with so many other issues. Republicans fall on both sides of the issue, as do Democrats, although the former is more often in favor of the death penalty, while the latter is more often against it.

Do you favor the death penalty as punishment for the murder of law enforcement officers?
Yes
No
Next
Hostility toward law enforcement personnel is on the rise. This year, 50 officers have been killed by gunfire to date, surpassing the 2017 total of 45.

Foreknowledge of the ultimate penalty may deter violence against police, and for this reason, should be seriously considered. Just as officers protect us, so should we protect them, and Trump’s proposal might be one of the better means of doing so.

PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP - Page 4 Empty Under Trump, America is a net exporter of crude oil for the first time since the 1940s

Under Trump, America is a net exporter of crude oil for the first time since the 1940s
December 7, 2018
https://www.conservativeinstitute.org/conservative-news/america-net-exporter-crude.htm?utm_source=aimtell&utm_campaign=automated_push&utm_medium=push
Under Trump, America is a net exporter of crude oil for the first time since the 1940s
American presidents from Jimmy Carter to George W. Bush have aspired to attain energy independence, and the U.S. economy under President Donald Trump just realized that goal by becoming a net exporter of crude oil.

It’s the first time the U.S. has achieved the status in roughly 75 years.

Energy golden age
By encouraging drilling and dismantling redundant regulations, the Trump administration has steered the energy sector to new heights. The last time the U.S. sold more petroleum than it bought was in the mid-1940s under Harry Truman, when America’s economy was industrialized for war and Europe was in ruins.

Statistics from the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) show that American companies last week netted 211,000 barrels in daily sales of crude and refined products like gasoline and diesel. Figures from the rest of 2018 show that the U.S. typically experiences net imports of around 3 million barrels per day, down from an annual peak of 12 million barrels per day in 2005.

“The U.S. is now a major player in the export market,” said Brian Kessens, who helps manage $16 billion in energy investments at a Kansas-based firm. “We continue to re-tool our export infrastructure along the Gulf Coast to expand capacity, and you continue to see strong demand globally for crude oil.”

Booming sector
Exports should continue to grow, as at least nine terminals are in various stages of planning and construction that will be capable of loading the massive supertankers which carry American crude and refined products to markets around the world. Currently, Americans depend upon a single terminal, the Louisiana Offshore Oil Port, to load these ships, and it is expected to experience a record month in December.

New pipelines are being built to carry crude from the country’s fastest-growing oil field in west Texas and New Mexico. The U.S. Geological Service released a report on Thursday revealing that the Delaware Basin, the less-drilled portion of the expansive Permian oil field, contains twice the amount of crude and 18 times the amount of natural gas as the better known Midland Basin.

Much of the oil that the U.S. imports isn’t actually consumed by Americans, but is sent to refineries throughout the country which consume more than 17 million barrels a day. America’s advanced refinery infrastructure has helped turn the U.S. into the world’s top fuel supplier, and for the first time in 40 years, two new major oil refineries plan to further increase output by going online.

Despite these gains, some energy experts are quick to point out that the U.S. is still a regular net importer of oil and remains vulnerable to international market forces. A Bloomberg report exploring America’s new and perhaps temporary role as a net exporter called the landmark “a paper tiger achievement,” and noted that “the U.S. remains exposed to global energy prices, still affected by the old geopolitics of the Middle East.”

Sound policy
Still, the U.S. has reversed its position in the oil and natural gas industry in just a few short years. The shale revolution helped America outpace Russia and Saudi Arabia as the world’s top petroleum supplier, and the Trump administration’s oil-friendly climate has helped buttress and solidify those gains.

With promises to undo the restrictive, Obama-era Clean Power Plan, energy stocks experienced remarkable increases shortly after Trump was elected, and he continued dismantling standards in the oil and methane industries which have boosted production without completely compromising environmental protections.

Does the Trump Administration deserve credit for America's new status as a net exporter of crude oil?
Yes
No
Next
Kathleen Sgamma, president of the Western Energy Alliance, called some of the rules which Trump pledged to undermine “cumbersome record-keeping technicalities that don’t work in the field.”

“We are becoming the dominant energy power in the world,” said Michael Lynch, president of Strategic Energy & Economic Research. “But, because the change is gradual over time, I don’t think it’s going to cause a huge revolution, but you do have to think that OPEC is going to have to take that into account when they think about cutting.”

The Slow, Steady Trend
Trump has been fighting for his approval rating from the very early days of his administration.

In the early days of his presidency, his approval rating, at least in some polls, was in the low 30s.

As some of his new policies started to come into play, that rating started its long climb.

Of course, that rating also depends on which poll you follow.

Looking at the numbers along the way, many of the polls with lower numbers had as many as 70 percent Democrats in the polling numbers.

The polls that were closer to 50/50 or 40/40/20 always showed higher approval ratings for Trump.

Heading in the Right Direction
Liberals may not think so, but as far as conservatives and those who prioritize immigration and the economy are concerned, this country is finally going in the right direction.

Job markets are at all-time highs across the board.

While people like Bernie Sanders continue to unfairly call Trump a racist, his policies have led to the lowest unemployment rate among minorities in the history of our country.

Do You Think Trump is Doing a Good Job?
Yes
No
Next
A majority of Americans have clearly come around on immigration as well.

This is a number in his approval ratings that continue to climb, contributing significantly to Trump’s overall approval rating.

As long as Congress does not put up roadblocks, it will be hard to stop Trump’s approval rating from continuing to climb.

Actress Meryl Street claims Trump children are ‘in jeopardy’

Hollywood elitists haven’t finished their assault on the President of the United States.

This time, actress Meryl Streep is making the bogus claim that Donald Trump’s children are “in jeopardy” — and she says America should be fearful of this.

Hollywood Liberal Narrative
One of the great mysteries of life is why every time a liberal Hollywood star gets a microphone in front of their face these days, they feel the absolute need to take a shot at President Trump.

During a recent fundraiser, Streep followed suit.

At an event hosted by Stephen Colbert, she was all but given the right to turn the night political by his introduction.

The liberal late-night TV host made it a point to bring up Trump’s comments about Streep’s criticisms of him.

She then insinuated that the president himself had put his children at risk.

Streep was no doubt referring to Robert Mueller’s investigation and the alleged role at least one his sons played in alleged Russian collusion prior to the election.

“His children are in jeopardy and I feel that,” Streep said.

She added: “I would do anything, anything, to get them out of trouble. So, we should be afraid.”

She’s saying that Trump will put the entire country at risk to save his children from going to jail.

The Problem Is…
Unfortunately, at least for Streep, the so-called facts on which she is basing her statement are completely false.

The Mueller investigation has been going on for almost two years, but nothing has come of it and nothing will.

Speculation is already running rampant that when Mueller’s report is eventually released, it will say nothing about collusion.

Meanwhile, the media continue to point to business dealings from almost a decade ago when Trump was seeking the building of a property in Russia that never came to fruition as “evidence.”

Once again, though, that had nothing at all to do with the 2016 election.

Do you think Congress should put an end to Mueller's investigation?
Yes
No
Next
So despite what Streep says, Trump’s children have nothing to worry about.

Mueller won’t find anything — because no one did anything wrong.

‘Witch Hunt!’: Trump defends consideration of Moscow building project

President Donald Trump took to Twitter on Friday to defend the Moscow building project that he “lightly” considered while running for president in 2016.

Trump’s Moscow project made it back into the news after Michael Cohen, his former attorney, pleaded guilty in federal court on Thursday to making false statements related to the project before a Senate committee.

“Oh, I get it! I am a very good developer, happily living my life, when I see our Country going in the wrong direction (to put it mildly). Against all odds, I decide to run for President & continue to run my business-very legal & very cool, talked about it on the campaign trail…….Lightly looked at doing a building somewhere in Russia. Put up zero money, zero guarantees and didn’t do the project. Witch Hunt!” Trump tweeted.

Trump-Russia back in the spotlight
What is known about the project is not much, and that seems to be because it never really got off the ground. Trump isn’t kidding when he says that he “lightly looked at doing a building.” Those around him appear to have been considering it much more seriously than he was.

According to reports, the idea for a Trump building in Moscow was being evaluated in October of 2015. At that time, a Russian real estate developer named Andrey Rozov apparently sent a signed letter of intent to Cohen to begin construction on a Trump World Tower that would include 15 floors of luxury condos, a fitness center, and a spa.

Among those who were trying to push the project through was Felix Sater, a business associate of Trump’s. “Let’s make this happen and build a Trump Moscow,” Sater said to Cohen. “And possibly fix relations between the countries by showing everyone that commerce and business are much better and more practical than politics.”

Sater later explained his idea to Buzzfeed News, saying:

In Russia, the oligarchs would bend over backwards to live in the same building as Vladimir Putin. My idea was to give a $50 million penthouse to Putin and charge $250 million more for the rest of the units. All the oligarchs would line up to live in the same building as Putin.

According to a Fox News insider, Trump was unaware of Sater’s plan, and what’s more is that he would have considered it “stupid.”

Regardless, Trump himself defended the Moscow project, arguing that “there would be nothing wrong if I did do it.” He explained:

I was running my business while I was campaigning. There was a good chance that I wouldn’t have won, in which case I would have gone back into the business, and why should I lose lots of opportunities?

Cohen’s lies
Once a staunch defender of Trump, Cohen has been cooperating with Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election as well as Trump-Russia conspiracy.

Cohen has now admitted that he lied to a Senate committee about the Moscow project, first telling them that it died in January 2016, then admitting it was still in consideration until at least June. Cohen is also on the record as saying that he lied about not discussing with Trump plans to travel to Russia. Although Trump and Cohen never did make that trip, published text messages show that Cohen did discuss it with Sater, telling him that he could make the trip before the Republican convention and Trump would follow thereafter.

As for his role in the Moscow project, Cohen says that he discussed it with Trump and with members of the Trump family on several occasions. And, prosecutors allege that, in January 2016, he contacted Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov for help.

Not Crimes
Trump, on Friday, completed his Twitter defense by quoting two others on his behalf: Fox’s Gregg Jarrett and legal scholar Alan Dershowitz.

“This demonstrates the Robert Mueller and his partisans have no evidence, not a whiff of collusion, between Trump and the Russians. Russian project legal. Trump Tower meeting (son Don), perfectly legal. He wasn’t involved with hacking.” Gregg Jarrett. A total Witch Hunt!” Trump tweeted.

Is the left blowing Trump's potential Russian business deals that never happened out of proportion?

Months into his investigation, special counsel Robert Mueller has still produced nothing that would even remotely implicate Trump in election collusion with Russia.

Despite this, the left, who are still dreaming of a Trump impeachment, are keeping the possibility alive. Baseless as it is, Trump understands that some will continue to believe it, which could have political consequences down the road — and that is why he took to Twitter to get ahead of this one.

2020: Republican Jeff Flake Throws Down Against Trump
December 1, 2018
Outgoing Republican Senator Jeff Flake is pushing for a primary challenge against President Trump – and he’s open to running himself.

Flake, who is on record as opposing the President on several major policy positions, told CNN’s Poppy Harlow that he’s not ruling out taking on the president.

Flake said: “I’ve been on record many times saying that I hope that a Republican runs in the primary against the president. I think that Republicans need to be reminded what it means to be conservative and what it means to be decent…I’d prefer it be somebody else, but I’m not ruling it out.”

Flake is deluded if he thinks that he has a chance of winning a race against Trump. He was so unpopular that he pulled out of his Senate race before it began. How does he expect to win a presidential contest if he can’t win a Senate seat?

Read the report here. Michael Cohen Reveals The Details
December 1, 2018
President Trump’s former lawyer is squealing – and now he’s revealing the details about just how much he cooperated with the Mueller investigation.

According to the Daily Caller:

Cohen’s attorneys argued in a late-night court filing the longtime Trump booster lied to Congress in order to remain consistent with his former boss’s downplaying of contacts with Russia during the campaign. They also asserted Cohen orchestrated illegal campaign contributions in the form of payments to alleged Trump mistresses in order to protect the former real estate mogul.

The thrust of Cohen’s argument for leniency is his extensive cooperation in the “unique” circumstances in which the special counsel’s investigation is operating.

Cohen’s lawyers, Guy Petrillo and Amy Lester, asserted Cohen’s cooperation helped legitimize an investigation that is under constant attack by Trump. They also argue Cohen is cooperating even though Trump reportedly suggested in private he is willing to pardon associates ensnared in the special counsel’s probe.

So in other words, Cohen is arguing that he deserves leniency because he’s a rat. And not just an ordinary rat – a super-rat.

What Cohen doesn’t provide evidence of is any wrongdoing by Donald Trump. Which makes his story both strange and sad: why did he fold so easily?

Trump Enemy Accused Of Rape – Lock Him Up
December 1, 2018
Multiple women have come forward with sexual assault accusations against famous astrophysicist and beloved “truth warrior” of the left, Neil deGrasse Tyson. Assault accusations range from groping to outright rape.

Tyson has been an outspoken critic of Trump, armchair quarterbacking from behind his Twitter account from day one.

Unfortunately for him, his sordid past has finally caught up with him, and it’s not pretty. The liberal media has conveniently ignored these accusations.

Tyson is just one of a growing list of liberal darlings that have been exposed by women they’ve taken advantage of. It’s ironic that the liberal #metoo movement has been most effective at bringing down their very own.

Pence casts tie-breaking vote to advance Trump judicial nominee Thomas Farr

Vice President Mike Pence cast the tie-breaking vote Wednesday to advance President Donald Trump’s controversial judicial nominee Thomas Farr toward confirmation to be a district judge for the Eastern District of North Carolina.

But there was another twist Thursday as Republican Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC), the key swing vote, reversed his previous support of Farr to oppose him, all but dooming his confirmation.

Pence advances judicial nominee
Farr was facing a divided Senate going into a procedural vote on his appointment to the federal judiciary Wednesday, with four Republican senators coming into focus as swing votes, Sens. Lisa Murkowski (R-AL), Susan Collins (R-ME), Marco Rubio (R-FL), and Scott. But when time to vote came Wednesday afternoon, all except Scott had announced their support of Farr.

Scott was evasive about which way he would vote before the Senate convened Wednesday. The vote lingered at 49-50 before Scott voted “yes” to end cloture, bringing the vote to a tie that was broken by Pence. As vice president, Pence is also president of the Senate and appointed tie-breaker of the chamber.

Pence would not have been able to break the tie without Scott’s “yes” vote because of Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.), who has vowed to vote against any Trump judicial nominees until Congress passes legislation to protect Robert Mueller’s investigation into collusion from interference.

Scott was considered a swing vote because he had previously doomed another Trump judicial nominee, Ryan Bounds. Bounds’ path to the circuit court was foreclosed earlier this year after Scott initially voted to end debate, only to oppose his nomination over critical remarks Bounds had made about diversity.

Sen. Scott dooms nomination
A similar scenario played out for Farr’s nomination on Thursday, as Scott swiveled to oppose Farr’s nomination in response to a Justice Department memo dating from George H.W. Bush’s presidency that linked Farr with alleged voter suppression in North Carolina in a 1984 campaign.

“This week, a Department of Justice memo written under President George H.W. Bush was released that shed new light on Mr. Farr’s activities. This, in turn, created more concerns. Weighing these important factors, this afternoon I concluded that I could not support Mr. Farr’s nomination,” Scott, the only black Republican senator, said in a statement.

Farr has been accused of helping implement racist voter fraud tactics while working on North Carolina Republican Sen. Jesse Helms’ campaign in 1984, allegedly distributed 120,000 postcards to black voters discouraging them from voting. Farr also worked on Helms’ 1990 campaign.

Scott was praised by Democrats for the “no” vote but only after sustaining criticism for his previous “yes” vote, including from Washington Post blogger Jennifer Rubin who called him a “fraud on civil rights.”

Controversial nominee
Democrats came out full force in opposition to Farr, with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) calling Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s (R-KY) nomination of Farr an “absolute disgrace.” The nominee is also a fierce advocate of voter ID laws, which are widely criticized as discriminatory by the left. Farr was grilled over the alleged 1984 voter suppression by Democrats including Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA).

“I was not aware that the cards had been sent until they had been sent and the manager of the Helms Committee received a letter about the cards from the Voting Rights Section of the United States Department of Justice. The manager of the Helms Committee then called me for legal advice,” he said in written responses to the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Should confirming federal judges be a top priority of the Trump administration?
Yes
No
Next
Schumer’s griping with McConnell shows that the Democrats are having a rough time adjusting to rules changes implemented by their own party, when former Democrat Majority Leader Harry Reid in 2013 lowered the number of votes needed to end a filibuster on lower court judicial appointees from 60 to a simple majority.

President Trump and McConnell have led a successful push to pack the courts with conservative judges since Trump became president, adding two Supreme Court justices and a bevy of federal judges. Republicans managed to hold on to the Senate in midterm elections, so the president’s party still has considerable sway over judicial appointments.

But in times of such divisive nominations, without all hands on deck, holding a majority may be good for nothing.

Secret Service pays Tom Arnold a visit after threatening tweets
November 27, 2018 by Ben Marquis
Secret Service pays Tom Arnold a visit after threatening tweets
Photo via Video Screenshot
Comedic actor and Trump critic Tom Arnold — also known as Roseanne Barr’s ex-husband — recently received a visit from U.S. Secret Service agents. The actor had challenged the president to a fight and suggested that Trump would lose his life — and head — in such an altercation in social media postings.

Leftist media outlet Mother Jones obtained video of the reportedly hour-long meeting held between Arnold and the agents on Oct. 25, which was captured on Arnold’s home security cameras. The meeting was intended to determine if Arnold himself posed a threat to the president, as well as to serve as a warning that his inflammatory postings on social media could incite his fans to also pose a threat to the president.

Threat of physical violence
Arnold’s concerning social media posts had come in response to Trump’s joking reference to a 2017 incident in which Republican Rep. Greg Gianforte body-slammed a mouthy liberal reporter — an incident for which Gianforte has since apologized.

“Greg is smart,” Trump said at an October rally in Montana, adding, “By the way, never wrestle him. Any guy that can do a body slam… he’s my guy.”

Arnold was incensed by Trump’s reference of physicality against a reporter, and posted to Twitter, “I say put up or shut up @realDonaldTrump Me vs You. For America. First body slam wins. Any Rally. Any Time. Between now & the midterms.”

He followed that tweet with another, which has since been deleted, that referenced comedian Kathy Griffin’s atrocious “Trump beheading” photo shoot stunt, and wrote, “Next time Kathy won’t be holding his fake head!”

Inflammatory postings can be influential
To his credit, Arnold appeared courteous and respectful to the Secret Service agents who visited his home — though that obsequiousness may have stemmed from the reality that it’s much easier to be a blowhard on Twitter than when government agents are sitting in your living room.

The agents ultimately made it clear that they understood Arnold’s remarks didn’t pose a serious physical threat to the president himself.

However, they also cautioned him to consider the impact his threatening rhetoric and suggestions could have on others.

“But what we have to worry about is your type of audience and you say something inciting those that follow you,” they said. “You might be, might be using it in a comedian-type sense, or whatever, you know, being very comical about it. But there’s a lot of people out there who may really follow Tom Arnold. ‘He said this, and that’s the exact thing I needed that. I need to go get this and go ahead to the next rally, yeah, and carry this out.’ But you might have meant it in something like a playful jest.”

“Based on the fact that the ships and sailors have not been returned to Ukraine from Russia, I have decided it would be best for all parties concerned to cancel my previously scheduled meeting in Argentina with President Vladimir Putin,” tweeted Trump Thursday.

Trump gives order to allow defense of US southern border with rubber bullets, tear gas

Trump gives order to allow defense of US southern border with rubber bullets, tear gas
Thousands of undocumented immigrants are crashing our borders, and President Donald Trump is not standing for it.

With the onslaught of immigrants trying to cross into the United States, authorities have been authorized to use rubber bullets and tear gas to fend off the border crashers.

Overrunning the Border
Pictures taken of the border over the weekend were more than a little disturbing.

Fences were being cut, climbed, and knocked down so immigrants could get across the border.

Once the integrity of the border security gave way, border security had no choice but to use tear gas and rubber bullets to fend off the wave of immigrants.

It got so bad that at one point, Homeland Security Director Kirstjen Nielsen issued a formal warning that anyone endangering border agents would be handled appropriately.

She also informed the media that these measures were being put in place because border jumpers were throwing projectiles at our border agents.

Nielsen warned the caravan members: “We will not tolerate this lawlessness.”

Things had gotten so bad that even Mexico said it was going to deport 500 migrants who “violently” and “illegally” tried to cross the border.

Legal Avenues Halted
The problem also caused the temporary halt of people entering the country legally.

There were miles of cars at the U.S.-Mexico border forced to wait while authorities dealt with caravan migrants.

In fact, authorities were forced to shut down all traffic from a highway along the border in San Diego.

“It is critical that U.S. and Mexican federal leaders together to safely resolve the migrant crisis,” the mayor of San Diego, Kevin Faulconer, said.

He added: “Our way of life relies on a safe, secure, and functioning border.”

Still, liberals continue to push the narrative we need to allow every one of these individuals into our country — but our border laws are in place for a reason.

Asylum is not granted merely because of poverty. If we allowed that, our country would be overridden.

Do You Agree With Measures Being Taken to Stop the Caravan?
Yes
No
Next
Every sitting president in recent history has stressed the importance of the integrity of our borders.

Trump is no different, but for some reason, Democrats have decided that this is no longer important.

What gives?

Mexico should deport migrants trying to enter the US back to their home nations, Donald Trump has said, adding that many members of the so-called caravan were criminals and that the US would permanently seal its border if needed.
“Mexico should move the flag waving Migrants, many of whom are stone cold criminals, back to their countries. Do it by plane, do it by bus, do it anyway you want, but they are NOT coming into the U.S.A. We will close the Border permanently if need be. Congress, fund the WALL!" the US president tweeted on Monday.

Over 7,000 migrants from Central America are seeking asylum in the US, with 5,000 currently being housed in a converted sports stadium in Mexico while they wait to apply for refugee status.
The fate of the migrant caravan has become a heated political debate in the United States, with Trump and his supporters claiming that secure borders take priority over accepting asylum seekers. The migrants have also received a mixed reception from their current hosts in Mexico. While some Mexican officials suggested that the influx of immigrants could help boost the economy, the mayor of the border city of Tijuana said their presence had created a “humanitarian crisis” and accused the government of not providing adequate resources to address the issue

Report: British Intelligence “Desperate” for Trump Not to Declassify FISA Docs
by Team Bongino
November 23, 2018
TwitterFacebookEmailLinkedInRedditPrintShare
British Intelligence officials are desperate to convince the Trump White House to not declassify the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) wiretap application which allowed the FBI to spy on former Trump campaign volunteer Carter Page, according to the Telegraph.
U.S. and Australian officials are also against the declassification, with the British intelligence chiefs saying it would expose sources and methods.
The Telegraph reports:
British spy chiefs have “genuine concern” about sources being exposed if classified parts of the wiretap request were made public, according to figures familiar with discussions.
“It boils down to the exposure of people”, said one US intelligence official, adding: “We don’t want to reveal sources and methods.” US intelligence shares the concerns of the UK.
Another said Britain feared setting a dangerous “precedent” which could make people less likely to share information, knowing that it could one day become public.
In September, 12 House Republicans called on President Trump to declassify the FISA renewal application for Carter Page, in which–they claim–the FBI and DOJ withheld exculpatory evidence from the secret court.
**LISTEN: Dan gets to the truth about why the Brits don’t want the U.S. to declassify the documents**
Congressman Lee Zeldin (R-NY) said at the time, “Powers were abused, the FISA court was misled, and we have zero tolerance for any of it. The government has a responsibility not only to provide its best evidence in support of its application but also the best evidence it has against its case. In this case, the DOJ failed to do so.”
Over the weekend, Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) called on the Department of Justice to declassify more FBI and DOJ emails relating to the FISA court, telling Fox News, “For months we have been reviewing emails between FBI, and DOJ, and others that clearly show that they knew about information that should have been presented to the FISA court,” he said. “So it is real evidence that people within the FBI withheld evidence from the FISA court.”
Nunes said that even House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) requested that the DOJ to release the emails.

Chief Justice John Roberts criticizes President Trump

After President Donald Trump criticized the circuit court judge who blocked his proclamation on asylum seekers — calling him an “Obama Judge” — Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts fired back in a rare outburst.

“We do not have Obama judges or Trump judges, Bush judges or Clinton judges. What we have is an extraordinary group of dedicated judges doing their level best to do equal right to those appearing before them,” Justice Roberts stated.

Roberts further stated that we all should celebrate the fact we have an “independent judiciary.”

Never one to back down, Trump responded on Twitter: “Sorry Chief Justice John Roberts, but you do indeed have ‘Obama judges,’ and they have a much different point of view than the people who are charged with the safety of our country.”

“It would be great if the 9th Circuit was indeed an ‘independent judiciary,’ but if it is why are so many opposing view (on Border and Safety) cases filed there, and why are a vast number of those cases overturned,” Trump continued.

Trump’s Comments
The president’s original comments that spurred this rebuke revolved around the 9th Circuit Court, which has constantly issued judgments against the Trump administration.

While discussing the blocking of his asylum proclamation, Trump stated, “Every case that gets filed in the 9th Circuit, we get beaten.”

“And then we end up having to go to the Supreme Court, like the travel ban, and we won,” he added.

Trump further stated, “This was an Obama judge. And I’ll tell you what, it’s not going to happen like this anymore.”

Chief Justice Roberts
Justice Roberts was appointed by Bush, so it really is no surprise he has some anti-Trump in him.

Sadly, Roberts is 100 percent wrong about judges not affiliating themselves with liberal or conservative views, though.

If he were correct, why is there so much pressure on every president to appoint a liberal or conservative to the bench?

We can look ever further to Trump’s point.

Every time a case comes before what we would consider to be a liberal judge, Trump loses.

When the cases come up before a conservative judge, he wins.

That is not a judiciary that is acting independently.

Do You Think Our Judiciary is 'Independent' as Roberts Claims?
Yes
No
Next
While we respect Justice Roberts as a Supreme Court Justice, his opinion here could not be further from the truth.
As usual, though, a Trump truth bomb hits a little too close to home for someone that is not exactly a Trump fan and it resulted in the president getting criticized for no good reason.

Fox’s Shepard Smith: Trump ‘insulted’ memory of Jamal Khashoggi by prioritizing alliance with Saudi Arabia
November 21, 2018 by Ben Baird
https://www.patriotnewsalerts.com/shepard-smith-trump-insulted/?utm_source=dc&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=dc-1
U.S. President Donald Trump doesn’t want the Oct. 2 murder of Washington Post columnist and Saudi dissident Jamal Khashoggi to compromise America’s diplomatic relationship with Saudi Arabia. Serving as a counterbalance to Iranian regional hegemony, a long-term security partner and a stabilizing force for international oil prices, the Gulf monarchy has remained one of America’s closest allies in the tumultuous Middle East.

But Fox News anchor Shepard Smith is ready to throw the region into disorder and cancel a decades-old alliance over the Istanbul murder of a vindictive Muslim Brotherhood reporter and Islamist agitator. Responding to Trump’s announced intention to maintain a “steadfast” alliance with the Saudi government, Smith accused the president of ignoring intelligence reports and said he “insulted” Khashoggi’s memory.

“President Trump stands with Saudi Arabia,” Smith said on his afternoon news program. “Today, the president insulted the murder victim and sided with the Saudis, who said our CIA is wrong.”

Alliance imperiled
Like much of the mainstream news media, Smith suggested that Trump was defying U.S. intelligence and whitewashing Khashoggi’s murder by refusing to outright blame Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who is often referred to by the acronym MBS. Critics of the Trump administration may have trouble separating their emotional contempt for the president and considering the full geopolitical implications of an end to the U.S.-Saudi partnership.

“It’s a complex issue, it’s a shame, but it is what it is,” Trump said. “It is America first to me, it is all about America first. I’m not going to destroy the world economy and I’m not going to destroy the economy for our country by being foolish with Saudi Arabia,” Trump declared.

In his statement issued earlier Tuesday, Trump said: “Representatives of Saudi Arabia say that Jamal Khashoggi was an ‘enemy of the state’ and a member of the Muslim Brotherhood, but my decision is in no way based on that – this is an unacceptable and horrible crime.

“King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman vigorously deny any knowledge of the planning or execution of the murder of Mr. Khashoggi,” the statement went on. “Our intelligence agencies continue to assess all information, but it could very well be that the Crown Prince had knowledge of this tragic event – maybe he did and maybe he didn’t!”

Mystery report
Although the CIA report has not been shared with any members of the media, journalists have been quick to suggest that this analysis clearly identifies MBS as the mastermind behind Khashoggi’s murder at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul. Trump told reporters that the intelligence agency’s findings contain “nothing definitive,” and he insisted that he was waiting on the results of a “full report.”

“They haven’t accessed anything yet — it’s too early,” Trump said. “That was a very premature report. But that’s possible. We’re gonna see.”

Of course, reliably anti-Trump media networks like ABC News responded by citing anonymous sources from the State Department familiar with the CIA report who said it was “blindingly obvious” that the crown prince was involved. Washington Post Publisher and CEO Fred Ryan called the president’s statement “a betrayal of long-established American values of respect for human rights and the expectation of trust and honesty in our strategic relationships.”

However, Trump is simply advocating that his fellow Americans wait for all of the facts to emerge before rendering judgments that could have substantial geopolitical consequences. Yet, after the media’s rush to judgment during the Brett Kavanaugh confirmation hearings, it is not surprising that many on the left have already made up their minds.

Geopolitical gamble
While Trump may be unwilling to fracture the Persian Gulf alliance over Khashoggi’s death, Smith noted that other U.S. lawmakers may work towards that end independently. Trump “may not have the last say,” Smith said — and one of Trump’s greatest Senate allies in recent months has voiced the same opinion.

“I firmly believe there will be strong bipartisan support for serious sanctions against Saudi Arabia, including appropriate members of the royal family, for this barbaric act which defied all civilized norms,” said South Carolina Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham. “While Saudi Arabia is a strategic ally, the behavior of the Crown Prince – in multiple ways – has shown disrespect for the relationship and made him, in my view, beyond toxic.”

Was Shepard Smith's criticism of President Trump misplaced?
Yes
No
Next
Graham went on: “I fully realize we have to deal with bad actors and imperfect situations on the international stage. However, when we lose our moral voice, we lose our strongest asset.”

“We’re waiting for the full report from the CIA,” Smith said, wrapping up his coverage of the controversy. In the meantime, Smith, like many on both the left and the right, is prepared to punish the crown prince and sacrifice regional stability.

President Donald Trump vowed to remain allies with Saudi Arabia on Tuesday amid criticism over his response to the killing of Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi.

In a statement from the White House, Trump reaffirmed America’s “steadfast partnership” with the Saudis, describing America’s economic and military alliance with the Arab kingdom as critical to America’s national security and economic interest.

Confirms “steadfast” partnership
Trump has been criticized for not punishing the Saudis enough over the reporter’s early October murder in the Saudi consulate in Turkey. The president said that U.S. intelligence is still piecing the murder case together and noted that his administration sanctioned 17 Saudis allegedly involved last week.

But he fell short of linking the killing to the Arab state’s leadership, despite the fact the CIA reportedly concluded that the crown prince ordered the killing.

“The crime against Jamal Khashoggi was a terrible one, and one that our country does not condone,” the president said. “Indeed, we have taken strong action against those already known to have participated in the murder. After great independent research, we now know many details of this horrible crime. We have already sanctioned 17 Saudis known to have been involved in the murder of Mr. Khashoggi and the disposal of his body.”

He added: “King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman vigorously deny any knowledge of the planning or execution of the murder of Mr. Khashoggi. Our intelligence agencies continue to assess all information.”

The Saudi government is seeking the death penalty for five of 21 people in custody in connection with the killing. The president said that Khashoggi’s murder would not alter America’s long-standing “steadfast” partnership with the Saudi kingdom, which he described as an asset in the fight against Iran and terror groups its supports.

“We may never know all of the facts surrounding the murder of Mr. Khashoggi. In any case, our relationship is with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. They have been a great ally in our very important fight against Iran. The United States intends to remain a steadfast partner of Saudi Arabia to ensure the interests of our country, Israel and all other partners in the region,” Trump added, noting that his priority is  “to fully eliminate the threat of terrorism throughout the world.”

Partnership is “America First”
Trump went on to say that Iran supports terrorists like Hezbollah as well as Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad, but noted that the Saudis have pledged billions of dollars toward fighting radical Islamic terror. Saudi Arabia has also been accused of instigating violence in Yemen in the country’s civil war, but Trump blamed Iran for the “bloody proxy war” and noted that Saudi Arabia “would gladly withdraw from Yemen if the Iranians would agree to leave.”

Trump also said that America’s alliance with Saudi Arabia is in the United States’ economic interest, noting that the kingdom “agreed to spend and invest $450 billion in the United States” that would “create hundreds of thousands of jobs, tremendous economic development, and much additional wealth for the United States.” He added that the U.S. will keep multi-billion dollar weapons contracts with the kingdom because China and Russia would take the business instead.

“If we foolishly cancel these contracts, Russia and China would be the enormous beneficiaries,” the president said. Trump acknowledged that his decision to defend the Saudis would draw opposition from some lawmakers “who, or political or other reasons, would like to go in a different direction” and welcomed “whatever ideas are presented to me” as long as they fall in line with national security.

Still, condemnation came swiftly from Republicans like Sens. Lindsey Graham (SC) and Rand Paul (KY), Democrats like Sen. Dianne Feinstein (CA), and much of the media. The New York Times even published an article mocking the statement’s frequent use of exclamation points.

But Trump believes it is his duty to “ensure that, in a very dangerous world, America is pursuing its national interests and vigorously contesting countries that wish to do us harm.

“Very simply,” he concluded, “it is called America First!”
