American drone strike kills ISIS leader in Afghanistan
August 27, 2018 by Jerry McCormick
The Trump administration’s assault against ISIS has taken out another major figure in the terrorist network.

According to reports, Abu Sayeed Orakzai was killed by an American strike.

The Strike
Drone strikes continue to be one of our most effective weapons against terrorists.

Orakzai is just the latest high-profile figure to find himself on the wrong end of one of these strikes.

Lt. Col. Martin O’Donnell, a spokesman for U.S. Forces-Afghanistan, announced the successful strike on Sunday.

He went on to note: “I would also add that the United States unrelentingly continues its counterterrorism efforts against ISIS-K, al-Qaida, and other regional international terrorist groups.”

In addition to Orakzai, almost a dozen other ISIS fighters were killed.

Orakzai’s death marks the third significant ISIS leader to have met his demise in the last 24 months.

More Work to Be Done
Even though ISIS has lost control over significant land holdings over the last four years, there is still much work to be done.

As the news of the death of Orakzai was making its rounds, a recording surfaced of another high-profile ISIS leader who many thought to be dead.

Abu Bakr a-Baghdadi was thought to be dead, but audio popped up with him touting Eid-al-Adha, an Islamic holiday.

He also mentioned some recent events, so it does appear he is alive and well.

Is Trump Winning the War Against ISIS?
Al-Baghdadi has managed to evade capture and his whereabouts are kept extremely secretive, so we have no idea when he will turn up again.

He has not been seen in public since 2014, and this recording marks the first time he has released audio in almost a year.
