Trump on Jerusalem Embassy Move:
I Don’t Break Promises
Trump Doubles Down on Jerusalem Embassy Promise; City’s Mayor Welcomes Him With Open Arms
By Valerie Locke January 19, 2017 , 11:30 am
“At that time they shall call Yerushalayim the throne of Hashem; and all the nations shall be gathered unto it, to the name of Hashem, to Yerushalayim; neither shall they walk any more after the stubbornness of their evil heart.” Jeremiah 3:17 (The Israel Bible™)

Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat (L) and Donald Trump. (Breaking Israel News)
President-elect Donald Trump reassured supporters on Tuesday that he does not intend to go back on his campaign promise to move the American embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, saying, “You know that I am not a person who breaks promises.”

Speaking from the Chairman’s Global Dinner in Washington DC, Trump said that he “clearly did not forget” his guarantee to move the embassy, an act which has come to represent Trump’s pro-Israel stance and enjoys wide bipartisan support from Congress.

While a number of past presidents have promised to make the momentous move while campaigning, none have ever followed through, wary of stirring tensions in a city which both Israelis and Palestinians claim as their capital. Trump, however, remained adamant throughout the race that upon taking office, he would “move the American embassy to the eternal capital of the Jewish people, Jerusalem.”

He has appointed as ambassador to Israel right-winger David Friedman, who has said he is “eager to begin work from the US embassy” in Jerusalem.

Until now, the US has been unwilling to officially recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel for fear of angering Palestinians. In fact, many American officials – including President Barack Obama – have refused to even acknowledge that Jerusalem is physically located in Israel.

Trump’s pro-Jerusalem sentiments have been cheered by Israeli politicians across the spectrum, including the capital’s mayor Nir Barkat, who launched a campaign on Thursday to show support for Trump from the holy city.

“This week Donald Trump will enter the White House as president. Let’s together welcome him as a friend and thank him for his intention to move the US embassy to Jerusalem,” urged Barkat in a video filmed from his office in Jerusalem.

Barkat also suggested a quick and easy way to move the embassy with very little fuss. “You can move the embassy in one morning by a small change: Take the plaque of the consulate [in Jerusalem] and replace it with one that says ’embassy’,” he proposed to Israel Radio on Wednesday.

“That can be done in five minutes, and afterwards you can move the ambassador and then move the rest of the staff and services.”

Such a move would “change the whole dynamic around Jerusalem and Israel,” Barkat said.

He criticized outgoing President Obama’s attitude towards Israel, saying that for “eight challenging years” Jerusalem has had to deal with “demands for building freezes, surrenders to radical Islam, surrenders to the Iranians.

“I hope that we are at the beginning of a new era of eight good years,” he concluded.

UK lawmakers slam Trump, but most oppose banning him
2016-01-18 | Jill Lawless, Fox Carolina

Donald Trump doesn't have many fans in Britain's Parliament. But a debate among lawmakers on calls to ban Trump from the country revealed little appetite to close Britain's doors to the provocative Republican U.S. presidential contender.

During a three-hour debate Monday, legislators from Britain's main parties stood to call Trump an attention-seeker, a demagogue and a fool. Many, though, argued that he should not be stifled or banned.

"While I think this man is crazy, while I think this man has no valid points to make, I will not be the one to silence his voice," said Conservative lawmaker Tom Tugendhat.

Parliament took up the topic after half a million people signed a petition calling for Trump to be excluded over his call for a temporary ban on Muslims entering the United States in the wake of extremist violence. Trump has also claimed that some areas of Britain are so radicalized that police fear for their lives.

Under British law, any petition supported by 100,000 people - who must each provide and confirm an email address - is considered for parliamentary debate. Monday's debate was intended to air the subject rather than take a vote.

Labour Party legislator Paul Flynn, who opened the session, said Trump had already received "far too much attention."

"The great danger by attacking this one man is that we can fix on him a halo of victimhood" and boost his popularity among supporters, Flynn said.

But another Labour lawmaker, Tulip Siddiq, supported a ban.

"This is a man who is extremely high-profile, ... a man who is interviewing for the most important job in the world," she said. "His words are not comical, his words are not funny. His words are poisonous."

Prime Minister David Cameron has condemned Trump's remarks about Muslims as "divisive, stupid and wrong," but he and other senior officials have said they do not think Trump should be banned.

The government has the power to deny entry to people with criminal convictions or those whose presence is considered not "conducive to the public good." The power has been used against figures as diverse as boxer Mike Tyson, rapper Tyler the Creator, radical Muslim preachers and the late Christian fundamentalist Fred Phelps Sr.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/business/news/national-grid-sells-shares-china-qatar-investors-a7463256.html
National Grid sells majority stake in UK gas infrastructure to Chinese and Qatari state investors
The network supplies 11 million homes with energy through 82,000 miles of pipeline – its sale will reignite concerns over foreign ownership of critical infrastructure.
National Grid has agreed to sell a majority stake in the UK’s gas pipe network to a team of investors, including the Chinese and Qatari states.
The UK's power network operator confirmed it is offloading the 61 per cent shareholding to a consortium led by Australian investment bank Macquarie in a deal that values the unit at around £13.8bn.
The division controls an important part of the country's infrastructure, which delivers gas to 11 million homes through 82,000 miles of pipeline, and its sale will reignite concerns about the ownership of critical national assets by foreign investors.
In August Theresa May said such deals would face tighter regulation as she gave the green light to the French and Chinese-funded Hinkley Point nuclear reactor.
National Grid said it would distribute a £150m voluntary payment to benefit British energy customers, while some £4bn of the proceeds will be returned to the company’s shareholders.
It will keep 31 per cent of the business but said it could potentially sell another 14 per cent stake to the consortium under the terms of the deal
The sale, which is set to complete before the end of March next year, comes as part of a move to rebalance National Grid's business towards higher growth areas and create extra value for shareholders.
Dave Prentis, Unison union general secretary, said: “The experience of Thames Water customers when Macquarie was running the show should have been a red flag to ministers and regulators as how unsuitable this company is to be in charge of the UK's gas supply..
SHORT VIDEO HINKLEY POWER STATION. GAS
Hinkley Point nuclear power station gets the green light
”Macquarie has poor form already – in building up huge company debt, repatriating massive dividends to the southern hemisphere and charging customers more for a much poorer service.

Business picture of the day
“The company has already proved it can’t be trusted with the nation’s water supply, but now it is to be in charge of gas pipes to millions of homes and businesses.
“The Government has said it wants to invest in UK infrastructure, yet these are not terribly encouraging first steps. It suggests ministers have not given much thought to an industrial strategy, not do they seem to have much desire to retain key parts of the nation’s infrastructure in UK hands.”
John Pettigrew, chief executive of National Grid, said the deal “represents an important milestone in the evolution of National Grid and is a good outcome for our customers, employees, and shareholders”.

UK: Police Chief Inspector fired for sharing posts calling for Sharia law ban and saying Muslims should be loyal to UK
By Pamela Geller - on January 15, 2017
FREEDOM OF SPEECH IN THE AGE OF JIHAD+
“Steven Drew, of Avon and Somerset Constabulary’s specials, shared posts telling people who don’t stand for the national anthem to ‘go back to the country you came from’.”
They shouldn’t?

“One picture he shared was captioned: ‘Isn’t it weird in Britain our flag offends so many people but our benefits don’t.'”

It isn’t?

Why is it “racist” to say that immigrants should be loyal to the land they’re coming to? What race is jihad and Islamic supremacism again? Islam is not a race. The British authorities are in full surrender mode. If there isn’t drastic change in the British government, Britain won’t last long.

“Police special sacked after sharing racist Facebook posts and liking ‘Ban Islam’ group,” by Lewis Pennock, Mirror, December 9, 2016 (thanks to M.):

A Chief Inspector who shared ‘explicitly racist’ Facebook posts and ‘liked’ groups calling for Islam to be banned has been sacked.

Steven Drew, of Avon and Somerset Constabulary’s specials, shared posts telling people who don’t stand for the national anthem to ‘go back to the country you came from’.

One picture he shared was captioned: “Isn’t it weird in Britain our flag offends so many people but our benefits don’t.”

Drew also liked a page called “Ban Islam and Sharia Law” and a page for the far-right political party Britain First, reported the Bristol Post.

A police misconduct hearing on Thursday, December 8 sacked Drew after deciding his behaviour was inappropriate, discriminatory and brought discredit on the force.

Speaking at the hearing, barrister Robert Talalay said Drew’s actions amounted to being ‘explicitly racist’.

But Drew, who has volunteered in the police for 20 years, told the panel he is ‘rubbish’ at Facebook and didn’t intend to come across racist.

“It makes me look an idiot,” he said. “It does make me look racist but that was never my intention.”

One picture shared by Drew showed a crowd at a sports event, thought to be in the United States, standing for the national anthem.

A woman, wearing a headscarf, was remained seated in the picture, which was captioned: “If you can’t stand for the national anthem go back to the country you came from.”

Drew said: “I probably didn’t even read the full caption, if I see stand for the national anthem I will share that.”

He said he is “really against people who can’t stand for the national anthem”, adding that he shares post if he looks at them and thinks ‘I agree with that’.

Drew claimed he only liked the page Ban Islam and Sharia Law because he thinks Sharia Law should be banned, but that he didn’t agree with banning Islam.

“It was just the second bit I liked,” he told the panel, led by independent chairman Alex Lock.

“I quickly looked and thought yes I agree with that.”

He also shared another post of a union jack which was captioned ‘Isn’t it weird in Britain our flag offends so many people but our benefits don’t’.

Another post showed a cartoon of school pupil complaining to a teacher that they were being bullied ‘because I’m British’.

Drew’s other ‘innocuous’ likes included Dad’s Army, Del Boy Trotter and Vladimir Putin.

He was represented at the hearing by Mark Loker, from the Police Federation.

Mr Loker said some of the content was ‘abhorrent’, but that the post about the child being bullied was ‘clearly intended as a joke’.

“He’s accepted what he’s done is wrong but he’s never intended to cause any offence,” he said.

Mr Loker said Drew “is not racist in any way, shape or form” but was “naïve”….

The Islamization of Britain in 2016
By Soeren Kern
January 6. A House of Commons briefing paper on polygamy revealed that recent reforms to the social security system would allow migrants in polygamous marriages to claim additional benefits payments.

Sharia courts administering Islamic justice in Britain are run by clerics who believe some offenders should have their hands chopped off, according to Muslim scholar Elham Manea. She described the prevailing attitude as “totalitarian” and as more backward than some parts of Pakistan.

Teaching children fundamental British values is an act of “cultural supremacism,” according to the National Union of Teachers, which wants to replace the concept with one that includes “international rights.”

More than 100,000 British Muslims sympathize with suicide bombers and people who commit other terrorist acts, according to a 615-page survey. Only one in three British Muslims (34%) would contact the police if they believed that somebody close to them had become involved with radical Islam. In addition, 23% of British Muslims said Islamic Sharia law should replace British law in areas with large Muslim populations.

Belmarsh maximum-security prison in London has become “like a jihadi training camp,” according to testimony from a former inmate. The government was accused of burying a report on prison extremism. The report warned that staff have been reluctant to tackle Islamist behavior for fear of being labelled “racist.”

Residents in Manchester received leaflets in their mailboxes, from a Muslim group called “Public Purity,” calling for a public ban on dogs.

Voter fraud has been deliberately overlooked in Muslim communities because of “political correctness,” according to a government report.

Police in Telford — dubbed the child sex capital of Britain — were accused of covering up allegations that hundreds of children in the town were sexually exploited by Pakistani sex gangs.

The Muslim population of Britain surpassed 3.5 million in 2016 to become around 5.5% of the overall population of 64 million, according to figures extrapolated from a recent study on the growth of the Muslim population in Europe. In real terms, Britain has the third-largest Muslim population in the European Union, after France, then Germany.

The growth of Britain’s Muslim population can be attributed to immigration, high birth rates and conversions to Islam.

Islam and Islam-related issues, omnipresent in Britain during 2016, can be categorized into five broad themes: 1) Islamic extremism and the security implications of British jihadists in Syria and Iraq; 2) the continuing spread of Islamic Sharia law in Britain; 3) the sexual exploitation of British children by Muslim gangs; 4) Muslim integration into British society; and 5) the failures of British multiculturalism.

JANUARY 2016

January 3. A jihadist with a London accent appeared in an Islamic State propaganda video after the group executed five men accused of spying for the UK. The masked gunman warned Prime Minister David Cameron that the West could never defeat the Islamic State. The video also showed a young boy, aged around four and with a British accent, threatening to kill non-Muslims.

January 4. British officials traveled to Sudan to stanch the flow of UK-born medics joining the Islamic State. More than a dozen British doctors studying at Sudan’s University of Medical Sciences and Technology (UMST) have joined the Islamic State to treat jihadists in Syria. Parents said they had sent their children to study in Sudan to reconnect them with their African and Islamic roots before returning to practice medicine in Britain.

January 4. The Jamiatul Ummah School in Tower Hamlets, East London, failed an inspection when investigators from Ofsted, the official agency that regulates British schools, found extremist material in its library, including books that call for stoning women.

January 5. Pastor James McConnell, a 78-year-old pastor from Belfast, was cleared of charges that he violated the Communications Act 2003 when, in a sermon broadcast on the internet, he described Islam as “heathen,” “Satanic” and “a doctrine spawned in hell.” Judge Liam McNally said: “The courts need to be very careful not to criticize speech which, however contemptible, is no more than offensive. It is not the task of the criminal law to censor offensive utterances.”

January 6. A man and a woman were arrested on suspicion of terrorism after attempting to board a UK-bound flight with fake Belgian passports. The pair, understood to be brother and sister, were arrested at Cristoforo Colombo Airport in Genoa, Italy, while trying to board the flight. Fears were raised that the pair, who claimed to be Syrian refugees, might be jihadis after police found violent images on their smartphones.

January 6. A House of Commons briefing paper on polygamy revealed that recent reforms to the social security system would allow migrants in polygamous marriages to claim additional benefits payments. Although polygamy is illegal in Britain, some 300,000 people are believed to be living in such unions in the country.

January 6. The Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ), which represents examination boards in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, reached an agreement with Muslim groups to reschedule crucial exams during the next three years to avoid clashing with Ramadan, when observant Muslim pupils would be expected to fast.

January 8. A Muslim woman who claimed she was assaulted in downtown Birmingham for wearing a hijab days after the Paris attacks was fined after video footage proved she fabricated her story.

January 8. Islamic extremists were allowed to tour British universities unchallenged, even though universities and colleges are legally required to prevent extremists radicalizing students on campus, according to the Daily Mail.

January 9. The Criminal Cases Review Commission, an official government body, was found to be helping asylum seekers overturn their convictions for illegal entry to Britain in order to allow them to receive refugee status and remain in the UK. MPs said the practice could “undermine deterrence” and lead to thousands more illegal arrivals.

January 15. London Police released video footage of a hijab-clad woman who tried to stab a 15-year-old boy on a bus in Lambeth.

January 16. Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond revealed that some 1,500 Britons tried to join the Islamic State since 2012. An estimated 800 people, mostly jihadists and family members, successfully entered Syria; roughly half are still there. Another 600 were stopped, either as they tried to leave Britain, or after arriving in Turkey.

January 18. Prime Minister David Cameron announced a plan to invest £20 million (€33 million; $28 million) in English classes for Muslim women to reduce the risk of extremism. He said migrants to Britain who cannot pass an English test within 2-1/2 years of arriving may not be allowed to stay. British Muslim groups accused Cameron of demonizing their communities.

January 19. Muhammad Shamsuddin, a 39-year-old London-based Islamist, was featured in a new documentary called “The Jihadis Next Door.” Shamsuddin, a divorced father of five who lives on state handouts and claims he cannot work because he has “chronic fatigue syndrome,” was filmed preaching hate against non-Muslims on British streets.

January 19. The government launched a new website, “Educate against Hate,” aimed at helping schools and parents to tackle the “spell of twisted ideologies.”

January 22. The Bishop of London, Richard Chartres, called on British clergymen to grow beards to reach out to Muslims in their areas.

January 24. Behar Kasemi, a 42-year-old refugee from Kosovo, was jailed for four weeks after he threatened to cut out his wife’s heart because she had become “too English.” He told police: “In my country it is for the women to obey their husbands and look after the children.”

January 25. One in five prisoners in Britain’s top-security prisons are Muslim. The eight Category A prisons contain 5,885 highly dangerous inmates and 1,229 — 20.8% — are Muslim. By comparison, 5.5% of the overall UK population is Muslim.

January 25. The Royal Air Force foiled a jihadist plot by two commercial airline pilots to bomb four British cities. The pilots, who were leaving Amsterdam’s Schiphol airport for a Middle Eastern country, were heard discussing attacks on London, Bath, Brighton and Ipswich. They were using the emergency “Mayday” channel in the belief they were not being monitored.

January 29. A judge in New York sentenced Mahdi Hashi, a 26-year-old Somali-born British citizen, to nine years in prison for joining al-Shabaab, a jihadist group based in East Africa. Hashi, who grew up in London, first came to Britain as a six-year-old when his family fled the civil war in Somalia. His British citizenship was revoked in July 2012 due to his “extremist activities.” He was later deported to the United States.

January 29. Ibrahim Anderson, 38, a convert to Islam, and Shah Jahan Khan, 63, were sentenced to a total of five years in prison for promoting the Islamic State on London’s Oxford Street.

January 30. Three Somalis who gang-raped a 16-year-old girl after luring her into a hotel bathroom in Manchester were sentenced to a total of 29 years in prison. The men, who showed no remorse for their actions, were said to be living according to the laws of Somalia, not Britain.

FEBRUARY 2016

February 8. In a speech on prison reform, David Cameron said the government is considering placing all convicted Islamist terrorist prisoners in England and Wales in a single secure unit in order to prevent them from recruiting other prisoners.

February 16. A man in Scotland was arrested for posting a series of “offensive comments” about Syria refugees on Facebook. Twelve Syrian families arrived on the remote Scottish island of Bute as part of the Home Office’s Syrian Vulnerable Person Resettlement program.

February 16. Shabir Ahmed, the 63-year-old leader of a Rochdale child sex grooming gang, cited human rights laws as he launched an appeal against deportation from Britain. Ahmed —described by a judge as a “violent hypocritical bully” — wrote to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) claiming that his convictions for child sex offenses were a conspiracy to “scapegoat” Muslims.

February 17. At least 21 illegal Islamic schools were placed under investigation over fears of radicalization. Inspectors from Ofsted, the school’s regulator, found that the institutions were teaching “hate-filled, misogynistic, homophobic and anti-Semitic material.”

February 28. Sharia courts administering Islamic justice in Britain are run by clerics who believe some offenders should have their hands chopped off, according to Muslim scholar Elham Manea. She said that some clerics also believe girls can be married at the age of 12. She described the prevailing attitude as “totalitarian” and as more backward than some parts of Pakistan.

February 29. Girls in Britain as young as 11 are being forced into marriage via the internet while others are being secretly wed over the phone. Imams in Britain and abroad have been conducting ceremonies using Skype to marry British girls remotely to men abroad. The new husband is often promised that he will get a visa to come to Britain.

MARCH 2016

March 4. Ali Abdullahi, a 34-year-old migrant from Somalia who sexually assaulted a 15-year-old girl at a train station in Torquay, told the Exeter Crown Court that the crime was a misunderstanding caused by “cultural differences.”

March 9. London is more “Islamic” than much of the Muslim world, according to Maulana Syed Ali Raza Rizvi, a prominent Shia cleric who was born in Pakistan. “I feel that London has more Islamic values than many of the Muslim countries put together,” he said.

March 9. An eight-year-old girl was taken into protective custody after a man and a woman were arrested at Heathrow Airport in connection with alleged female genital mutilation offenses. The girl was believed to have been taken Somalia to carry out FGM overseas.

March 11. Staff at a nursery in Luton referred a four-year-old boy to a de-radicalization program after the child drew an image of a man with a large chopping knife. Teachers said they believed he was saying “cooker bomb” instead of “cucumber.”

March 15. The Islamic Society at the London School of Economics held a gala dinner where men and women were segregated by a seven-foot screen so that attendees could not look at one another.

March 15. The Muslim Women’s Council in Bradford announced plans to build Britain’s first female-led mosque.

March 16. The High Court ruled that an 18-year-old girl who was born and raised in London and who ran away from home because her parents “were not strict enough Muslims” should be provided with government housing and a wide range of financial assistance until she turns 21.

March 17. A family court in London ruled that four children must be immunized after their Muslim mother refused consent because she said the vaccines contained pork gelatin.

March 20: A total of 3,955 people were referred to the Channel program, the British government’s de-radicalization scheme, in 2015, nearly triple the figure (1,681) in 2014.

March 28. Teaching children fundamental British values is an act of “cultural supremacism,” according to the National Union of Teachers (NUT), which wants to replace the concept with one that includes “international rights.”

March 31. The Islamic Tarbiyah Academy, a private Muslim school in Yorkshire, was accused of promoting Islamic extremism. The founder of the school, Mufti Zubair Dudha, belongs to the orthodox Deobandi sect, which is thought to control half of all mosques and madrasas in the UK. Dudha has warned Muslims not to adopt British customs, and told them they should be prepared to “expend … even life” to create a world organized “according to Allah’s just order.”

APRIL 2016

April 1. The first gym in Wales exclusively for Muslim women opened in Cardiff.

image: https://www.breakingisraelnews.com/wp-content/uploads/useful_banner_manager_banners/412-SupportTerrorVictims-600WIDE.jpg

April 3. About 1,000 Muslim prisoners are at risk of being radicalized in British jails as part of “terrorist academies,” according to Lord Falconer, the shadow justice secretary.

April 4. Muslim extremists have turned part of the Gartree prison into a “no-go zone,” according to prison union leaders. They believe an entire block of the facility is being run under Sharia law.

April 13. A new study showed that a significant part of the British Muslim community is becoming a separate “nation within a nation.” The 615-page survey found that more than 100,000 British Muslims sympathize with suicide bombers. Only one in three British Muslims (34%) would contact the police if they believed that somebody close to them had become involved with jihadists. In addition, 23% of British Muslims said Islamic Sharia law should replace British law in areas with large Muslim populations.

April 18. Muslim preachers approved by the government are routinely distributing extremist literature in British prisons leaving hundreds of inmates at risk of radicalization, according to a leaked report.

During the election campaign, Khan faced a stream of allegations about his past dealings with Muslim extremists and anti-Semites. British politician Paul Weston warned that Khan’s rise is a harbinger of things to come:

“The previously unthinkable has become the present reality. A Muslim man with way too many extremist links to be entirely coincidental is now the Mayor of London. In a couple more decades Britain may well have its first Muslim Prime Minister. Reality cannot argue with demographics, so the realistic future for Britain is Islamic.”

May 8. Six Algerian terror suspects with links to al-Qaeda were allowed to stay in Britain after winning a protracted legal battle. The government ruled that there was a “real risk” the men would be tortured by the Algerian security services if they were deported. This would have violated the Human Rights Act.

May 9. A Muslim man who was found guilty of threatening to behead a candidate of the United Kingdom Independence Party (UKIP) had his sentence overturned on appeal. Some neighborhood towns have more than 50% Muslim population. I believe it is the right time to … allow highly Muslim populated areas with a loud call for prayer at least three times a day.”

October 31. A “child refugee” from Afghanistan who was sent to Britain from the Calais Jungle camp in France claimed he was 16 but actually was 22. According to the law, unless a person who is seeking asylum appears to be “significantly” over the age of 18 they should be “afforded the benefit of the doubt and treated as children.”

NOVEMBER 2016

November 1. Sharia law courts are operating “everywhere in the country,” according to Ahmad Al-Dubayan, chairman of UK Board of Sharia Councils, a body set up to standardize the administration of Islamic law in the UK. He said it was impossible to know how many Sharia courts are operating in Britain.

November 4. Cardinal Vincent Nichols, the leader of the Roman Catholic Church in England and Wales, said that Britons have much to learn from the “vibrancy of the Muslim faith” of the refugees and migrants arriving in the United Kingdom.

November 4. Nissar Hussain, a convert to Christianity, was forced to flee his home in Manningham after being subjected to harassment and violence by Muslims. “This extreme persecution by certain people in the Muslim community because we are converts has broken us as a family,” he said. Hussain, a 50-year-old father of six, said that his family and he have endured a life of harassment, intimidation and fear at the hands of Muslim hardliners since 2008, when they appeared in a Channel 4 documentary about the mistreatment of Muslim converts.

November 7. Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) is failing to prosecute honor crimes for fear of causing “unrest” in Asian communities, a Scotland Yard whistleblower alleged. He disclosed that “apathy” by prosecutors led to the collapse of what could have been the first conviction for forced marriage in England.

November 11. CPS failed to pursue a case involving an Asian woman whose family forced her to have an abortion, for fear of being labelled racist. It could have been the first conviction for sex-selective abortion, but CPS dropped the case amid fears of “political correctness.”

November 14. Sharia courts are ordering women to stay with abusive husbands, a rape victim told the House of Commons. The mother-of-two revealed that she had been beaten, robbed and raped by her estranged husband despite British courts having banned him from approaching her. But family pressure persuaded the British-Pakistani to try and obtain an Islamic divorce in a Sharia court. Expecting to be treated sympathetically, she was instead told to return to her violent husband.

November 16. Bedfordshire Police deleted Twitter posts about Islamophobia Awareness Month after users pointed out its logo was similar to a hand gesture popular with ISIS jihadis.

November 20. The National Health Service referred 420 patients and staff to police in England and Wales between July 2015 and June 2016 over concerns they were at risk of radicalization. Statistics show an average of 35 referrals a month, up from 21 a month the previous year.

November 24. The jihadists suspected of carrying out the terror attacks in Paris and Brussels used British benefits payments to fund their crimes. Kingston Crown Court heard how some of the most notorious and wanted terrorists in Europe had used British taxpayers’ money to fund their activities in Syria and elsewhere.

November 26. More than half of asylum seekers surveyed about the quality of taxpayer-funded housing they have been provided branded it as “completely inadequate.” Just 11% of people asked said the housing was excellent, 8% described it as good, and 14% said it was adequate.

November 28. Tareena Shakil, a woman from Burton who became the first female from the UK to be jailed for joining the Islamic State, received more than £132,000 in taxpayer-funded legal aid to pay for her defense.

DECEMBER 2016

December 5. A government-commissioned report recommended that migrants should swear an oath of allegiance as soon as they arrive in the UK. It said that Muslims living in the UK are increasingly identifying with a global Islamic “Ummah” (community), rather than with being British.

December 10. An asylum seeker described as the “very model of a modern al-Qaeda terrorist” was allowed to stay in Britain despite being jailed for plotting attacks in the country. The “sleeper agent” jihadist was about to be deported back to his native Jordan. But Home Secretary Amber Rudd changed her mind after the man’s lawyers argued that he would be tortured.

December 12. Six people were arrested in Derby, Burton on Trent and London on suspicion of preparing an act of terrorism. Counter-terrorism investigators said they disrupted what they believe was a “significant plot” to attack the UK that was inspired by the Islamic State.

December 13. The Black Health Initiative in Leeds warned that girls are being taken to female genital mutilation (FGM) “parties” in cities across England. The charity said that midwives from Africa are being flown into the country to carry out the illegal practice. West Yorkshire Police said they were aware girls were being subjected to FGM locally.

December 15. More than £600,000 (€700,000; $738,000) of taxpayers’ money is being spent every week so lawyers can give free legal advice to asylum seekers. A total of 38,005 cases were approved for free legal advice over the last financial year, often in cases where the applicant was fighting a decision where their asylum claim had already been denied.

December 17. More than 1,000 Muslims took to the streets of London chanting “Allahu Akbar” and demanding an Islamic caliphate. They gathered outside the empty Syrian embassy in Belgrave Square, London to protest American policies regarding Aleppo, the largest city in Syria.

December 20. Heavily-armed police officers were deployed to Canterbury Cathedral to guard the nativity scene against possible jihadist attacks.

December 21. Police in Bristol increased patrols in the city center due to concerns about “Islamophobia” in the wake of the Berlin terror attack.

December 23. Syed Hoque, 37, of Stoke-on-Trent, was convicted of two counts of funding terrorism. He used aid convoys to Syria to send thousands of pounds to his extremist nephew who was fighting alongside al-Qaeda.

December 24. Munir Hassan Mohammed, 35, and Rowaida El-Hassan, 32, appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on charges of making explosives. Mohammed, an Eritrean who is seeking asylum in the UK, was also charged with being a member of the Islamic State.

December 25. The main course for inmates at HMP Bristol prison for Christmas dinner was halal chicken. Other prisons across the country also served halal options for Christmas. HMP Birmingham offered halal beef.

December 26. Sixty children are referred to the government’s Prevent counter-terrorism program each week. In 2015/16, there were around 7,500 referrals, a rate of 20 a day. Of those, 3,100 were aged under 18, and 61 were under the age of ten.

Hunt says public should ONLY use A&E for emergencies amid NHS 'humanitarian crisis'
HEALTH Secretary Jeremy Hunt today called for "an honest discussion with the public" about using NHS casualty services only for truly urgent problems.
By ALISON LITTLE
PUBLISHED: 21:15, Mon, Jan 9, 2017 | UPDATED: 21:21, Mon, Jan 9, 2017
His department insisted he was not paving the way for dropping or watering down the target that people visiting Accident and Emergency units should be seen in four hours.
But he told the Commons that too many people were visiting them for non-urgent care and the target was designed for those suffering genuine emergencies.
NHS England will explore how to ease pressures, including more education of the public and greater use of "triage" services to divert minor cases to other services.
It comes after reports in recent days of chronic pressure on A&E departments which the Red Cross has dubbed a "humanitarian crisis", including two patients said to have died after long waits on trolleys at overwhelmed Worcestershire Royal.

The Health Secretary admitted there were "some very severe problems in some hospitals but .... there is not a generalised crisis. The vast majority of hospitals are coping slightly better" than last year.

Especially "distressed" trusts may be given freedom to relieve pressure as encroaching cold weather delivers more cases, he told MPs.
Hospitals may suspend elective surgery and postpone non-urgent outpatient appointments.
GPs could be relieved of administrative duties to free up more time to see patients and there will be more efforts to stop elderly people in care homes being sent unnecessarily to hospital.

But Mr Hunt also called for more longterm action to ease pressure on A&E.

Some hospitals were reporting casualty attendances up to 30 per cent higher than last year. They had treated a record number of people within four hours but the situation had been "extremely fragile" in some areas, with long "trolley waits" particularly at Worcestershire and North Midlands, he told the Commons.

"Looking to the future, it is clear we need to have an honest discussion with the public about the purpose of A&E departments.

"There is nowhere outside the UK that commits to all patients that we will sort out any urgent health need within four hours.

"This government is committed to maintaining and delivering that vital four-hour commitment to patients. But since it was announced in 2000, nearly nine million more people are using our A&Es, up to 30 per cent of whom NHS England estimate do not need to be there, and the tide is continuing to rise.
"So if we are going to protect the four hour standard, we need to be clear it is a promise to sort out all urgent health problems within four hours, but not all health problems however minor."

Solutions included greater use of "streaming" to divert patients with minor problems from A&E to other services.

Sources insisted there were no plans to water down the four-hour target.

But Lib Dem spokesman Norman Lamb said Mr Hunt's comments were "a slippery slope towards the downgrading of standards of care across the NHS".

Labour Shadow Health Secretary Jon Ashworth urged Mr Hunt to bring forward extra funding for the NHS and social care, telling him: "The NHS is facing a winter crisis and the blame for this lies at the door of Number 10 Downing Street.

"This crisis could have been averted. Get a grip!"

Mr Ashworth lambasted Mr Hunt for earlier seeming to downplay the situation by suggesting only that "things (were) falling over in one or two places".

Citing the main winner of Sunday’s Golden Globe awards, Mr Ashworth told Mr Hunt: "I know La La Land did well - I didn't realise you were living there."
Mr Hunt accused Mr Ashworth of wrongly "weaponising the NHS for party political purposes".

Data shows that A&E departments shut their doors to patients more than 140 times last month, a 63 per cent rise on the previous December's 88 occasions.

Mr Hunt condemned people who took up A&E time because of excess alcohol intake. Replying to an MP who said that more than a third of casualty attendances at peak times resulted from drink, Mr Hunt said: "The issue is about public responsibility. These are our national health services and we need to treat them in a responsible way.

"It is frankly selfish to behave in an irresponsible way and then create pressure on an A&E which means that someone else who needs that help may not be able to get it."

itain has issued an unprecedented rebuke of its closest ally America following a speech by John Kerry on the future of the Israeli-Palestinian peace process.

The unprecedented statement came after the US Secretary of State delivered a withering attack on Israel’s settlement policy that was seen by Jerusalem as “obsessively” focused on the issue over all others.

In his speech yesterday, Kerry warned that the possibility of a two-state reality was being out in grave danger and branded the governing coalition in Israel as “the most right wing in history” with an agenda driven by the most extreme elements.

A spokesperson for the UK Prime Minister said: “We do not believe that the way to negotiate peace is by focusing on only one issue, in this cases the construction of settlements, when clearly the conflict between the Israelis and Palestinians is so deeply complex.

“And we do not believe that it is appropriate to attack the composition of the democratically-elected government of an ally. The Government believes that negotiations will only succeed when they are conducted between the two parties, supported by the international community.”

Last Friday, the United Nations Security Council passed a resolution against settlements by 14 votes to zero, with a the US breaking with tradition to abstain rather than veto the text. The passage of the motion provoked an unprecedented diplomatic rift between the US and Israel, while Israel limited trips by ministers to all those countries that backed the motion.

In recent days, Israeli officials have also alleged that the UK helped draft the motion and then pushed New Zealand to bring it back to the table after it was dropped by Egypt.

The UK spokesperson said: “The British Government continues to believe that the only way to a lasting peace in the Middle East is through a two-state solution.
“We continue to believe that the construction of settlements in the Occupied Palestinian Territories is illegal, which is why we supported UN Security Council Resolution 2334 last week. But we are also clear that the settlements are far from the only problem in this conflict. In particular, the people of Israel deserve to live free from the threat of terrorism, with which they have had to cope for too long.”
Amid the diplomatic fallout, Benjamin Netanyahu’s office was also forced to deny a planned meeting with Theresa May had been cancelled.

Gina Miller to launch ANOTHER legal attack on Theresa May and Brexit
GINA Miller is poised to launch a new legal challenge to the government’s plans to trigger Article 50 and leave the European Union.

Ms Miller said that if the Supreme Court rejects the Government appeal against the High Court ruling, Mrs May should not try to bypass the Lords.

Gina Miller has won the case to block Theresa May from Article 50
Born in Guyana, she grew up in Britain and is now based in London where she works for SCM Private, the firm she co-founded in 2014.
After a short spell working as a model, she began her career in 1990, working as a marketing and event manager for BMW.

She told The Daily Telegraph: "[There needs to be] proper debate in both houses and an act of Parliament. A resolution or a motion wouldn't be debated in both houses."

The move, should it happen, may prove to be an issue for Prime Minister Theresa May as the Conservatives do not have a majority in the Lords.
The Supreme Court is expected to deliver its verdict on the triggering of Article 50 in early January.

Any further legal challenges to Ms May’s plans could delay the triggering of Article 50 by the end of March, as has been stated.
This month, 461 MPs backed a motion in favour of the Prime Minister's timetable for Brexit, giving her the backing to take the UK out of the European bloc.
MPs were warned they would be attempting to 'thwart' the will of the people if they refused to endorse the plans.

The run-up to the debate on a Labour opposition motion was dominated by a major U-turn from Mrs May.

BREAKING: Prince Charles Makes Devastating Statement About Islam… Muslims Are Outraged
Share on Facebook Tweet Email Print
While the President of the United States is seemingly taking the side of radical Islamists, and working to weaken and destroy the fundamental principles that Western civilization and society are built upon, other leaders are stepping up to lead the fight against the destructive and murderous ideology.
The United Kingdom’s Prince Charles is in the middle of a week-long tour of the Middle East, where it is expected that he will deliver a strong message to Muslim leaders regarding the prevalence and growth of the radical Islamist mindset.
According to Mad World News, the Crown Prince intends to demand that Muslim leaders in the U.K, and around the world, stop radicalizing young people, and to show some respect for Western culture and values.

He is also telling them that any Muslims who come to the U.K. need to abide by the English standards that are already in place, and stop trying to force their way of life on the people who were there before them.

“The radicalization of people in Britain is a great worry,” the prince told the BBC. “The extent to which this is happening is alarming, particularly in a country like our’s where we hold values dear.”

The prince is further troubled by how rampant the radical ideology is on the Internet, and how easy it is for young people to be radicalized online.

Such a strong stance against radical Islam and in defense of Christianity has elevated the prince to the historic title of “defender of the faith.”

The prince has lived up to the title by calling out Islam for the persecution of Christians and other minority religions in the Middle East, by unequivocally stating that Christians were in the region first, hundreds of years before the arrival of Islam.

He has strongly denounced the atrocious actions of the Islamic State, and how they have slaughtered and exiled hundreds of thousands of Christians and Yazidis from northern Iraq. He says that if this continues there may soon come a day when there are no more Christians in the Middle East.

“The tragedy is even greater because Christians have been in the Middle East for 2,000 years, before Islam came in the 8th Century,” Charles stated.

The prince’s tour begins with a meeting with King Abdullah II in Jordan, before also traveling to Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and the United Arab Emirates, where he will also hopefully address the funding for radical Islamic terrorism that originate in those countries.
We commend Prince Charles for standing up in defense of the Christian faith, particularly in the Middle East, and will pray for his safe and successful return from the region.
Please share this on Facebook and Twitter if you are glad to see other world leaders standing up to radical Islam, since our “leader” obviously won’t do it.

A rare £5 note worth up to £50,000 which was accidentally given away by a café manager has been found.

The new plastic fiver had been engraved with a tiny portrait of Jane Austen by acclaimed artist Graham Short, who is famous for his miniature pieces worth thousands of pounds.

The artist embellished four notes which he decided to put into circulation in each of the four countries in the UK.

But when he spent the unique note at a café in the small village of Blackwood, south Wales, in exchange for a sausage and egg sandwich, Mr Short forgot to tell staff about the valuable engraving.

By the time Mr Short realised what had happened, the unique fiver had already unknowingly been given to another customer as change.

The café customer - and new lucky owner - of the precious note has since been found in south Wales, the BBC reported.

EXTREMIST CLERIC BANNED IN PAKISTAN BUT WELCOMED TO THE UK
An extremist preacher banned in Pakistan but allowed into the UK has been booted by the mosque in Scotland where he was scheduled to speak
BY MEIRA SVIRSKY Tue, December 13, 2016
An extremist preacher banned in Pakistan but allowed into the UK has been booted from the mosque in Scotland where he was scheduled to speak.

Syed Muzaffar Shah Qadri was due to speak at the Falkirk Central mosque, but after a public outcry about the imam ensued and an expose on the imam was published by the Sunday Post, mosque leaders have dumped Qadri and thanked the newspaper for alerting them to Qadri’s extremism.

“The mosque would never knowingly give a platform to views that counter our beliefs of tolerance and non-violence,” said committee member Khalid Saeed.

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank The Sunday Post for raising this issue and would like to reiterate our community’s zero tolerance for hatred or violence of any kind.

“Following engagement with members and our own youth committee, Falkirk Central Mosque will ensure that progressive values are promoted and where possible will work with Police Scotland to ensure community safety.

“In addition, the mosque committee is reviewing its procedures when allowing an external booking to ensure this never happens again.”

Labelled as “firebrand” by authorities in Pakistan, Qadri was barred by officials in Karachi from preaching. He is an avid supporter of Mumtaz Qadri, who murdered his employer Salman Taseer, a popular Pakistani politician who spoke out against the country’s blasphemy laws.

After Mumtaz Qadri was executed by Pakistan for his crime, Islamist riots ensued weeks involving tens of thousands of his supporters.

(One supporter of Mumtaz Qadri in the UK, Bradford taxi driver Tanveer Ahmed, stabbed to death an Ahmadi shopkeeper Asad Shah in Glasgow for espousing his beliefs on social media, which Ahmed deemed blasphemous. The crime shocked the Scottish people.)

Whether or not the mosque was aware of the extremism of the Pakistani cleric is certainly a question. At a time when concerns of extremism are foremost in the public discourse, one would hope that speakers at mosques are vetted before invitations are extended. However, the fact remains that because of good journalism and public outcry, the invitation was cancelled.

The real question is, why was someone like Qadri allowed entrance to the UK in the first place?

When the Post questioned the Home Office about Qadri, a spokeswoman refused to answer saying that the office does not comment on individuals.

Lest one consider Qadri’s entrance merely a slip up by the Home Office, consider the following:

The Home Office recently denied entry to the UK to three prominent archbishops from the Middle East. Nicodemus Daoud Sharaf, and Timothius Mousa Shamani and Selwanos Boutros Alnemeh, the archbishops of Mosul, the Nineveh valley, and Homs and Hama in Syria, respectively, were barred from attending an event inaugurating the first Syriac Orthodox Cathedral in the UK.

The Home Office said that it feared the men might not leave the UK and would not have enough money to support themselves if they stayed–an absurd charge. These prominent leaders from brutal war-torn areas have clearly chosen to stay with their flocks and not run away even in the face of death.

In July, the Home Office granted entry to two extremist preachers from Pakistan, Muhammad Naqib ur Rehman and Hassan Haseeb ur Rehman, both vocal supporters of Mumtaz Qadri, for a seven-week preaching tour of mosques. Naqib was even welcomed by the archbishop of Canterbury, the highest priest in the Church of England, which comprises some 80 million Christians worldwide.

At the time, Taseer’s son Shehryar, said, "They supported and incited my father Salmaan Taseer's murder. The UK government should deport them, and Pakistan should prosecute them for the incitement of violence under the terrorism act."

While she was the home secretary, Theresa May, currently UK’s prime minister, banned controversial counter-jihad activists Robert Spencer and Pamela Geller from the country. (To her credit, she also banned the extremist Islamist preacher Zakir Naik.)

The home secretary has the power to deny entry to people from the UK if their presence is deemed to not be "conducive to the public good." The secretary should begin using those powers wisely.

Exploring global export markets
world-map-1240-x-828
A world of opportunity awaits outside the European market, says Rebecca Hobson
Order a G&T in a fashionable quarter of New Delhi and the barman won’t just ask you which gin you’d prefer, but also which tonic. To which you can now reply “Fever-Tree” – because in today’s increasingly globalised world, British beverage companies sell Indian tonic water back to India.

Fever-Tree – which exports to 50 countries – is just one example of a UK business flourishing overseas. As once volatile and controlled markets become safer and easier places to do business, opportunities abound for SMEs in every sector. From education to engineering, British exporters are thriving in emerging economies as contrasting as China and Argentina.

And if these opportunities weren’t quite in the spotlight before, with sterling’s depreciation they certainly are now. Put simply, British goods and services are more attractive than ever – and there’s a host of markets ready and waiting to buy them up.

North America
North America is the UK’s number one destination for international trade. Almost 17 per cent of all British exports are destined for the US, while the Canadian market continues to grow, with British exports worth £7.5 billion in 2013. As the world’s largest economy, the US imports a rich mix of British machinery and transport equipment, chemicals, mineral fuels, commodities and manufactured goods.

The election of Donald Trump to the White House does bring some uncertainties around the UK’s healthy trade relationship with the US. His vows to remove America from existing trade deals are not to be ignored by UK exporters, but many economists remain optimistic. In Canada meanwhile, top imports include petroleum products, gold, spirits and aircraft engines. In the aftermath of the EU referendum, Canada has expressed its desires to strengthen trading ties with the UK.

South America
The number of British small- and medium sized businesses exporting to South America has almost doubled since 2011. This year alone, nearly one in four SMEs exported to the region – with Brazil topping the list of export destinations. As is the case with Asian markets, goods carrying the “Made in Britain” label carry serious kudos across the region.

Top UK exports include machinery, vehicles, plastics and beverages. Flying the flag high for British trade are UK household names such as Rolls-Royce and Experian, while hundreds of smaller companies are entering the market. When it comes to “breaking” South America, experts advise against viewing the area as a single trading bloc.

Brazil – the dominant market in the region – is seen as a gateway for doing business in neighbouring countries but has a complex tax system with high rates. Argentina, meanwhile, is enjoying a renaissance, having lifted controls and abolished import licences. Many are hailing the tango’s homeland as the one to watch.

The Middle East
From Dubai to Doha, British exports to the Middle East are rising fast. Saudi Arabia is the UK’s largest trading partner in the region, while the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is the largest civil exports market. Stable regimes in Kuwait, Qatar and Bahrain, and the recent lifting of sanctions in Iran, make this a promising region.

While the top export to the Middle East is vehicles, the Gulf’s diverse portfolio of British imports also includes medical instruments, pearls and gems, telecoms and sound equipment. And as with the emerging economies of China and South America, British-made luxury goods are very popular – especially in Qatar.

Around 5,000 British companies are enjoying success in the UAE alone, including household names such as Standard Chartered and BAE Systems. However, each Middle Eastern country comes with its own unique set of challenges and opportunities. In Saudi Arabia, where half the population is under 25, demand for social service exports in healthcare and education is expected to rise rapidly.

India
India is the fastest growing economy in the world. It’s also home to 1.3 billion people and an incredibly young population; almost half the people in India are under 25. Trading with this vast and populous country has become progressively easier in recent years as successive governments have reduced trade barriers to boost foreign investment and imports. And while silver, gems and jewellery top the list of UK exports to India, the country’s mass urbanisation has fuelled demand for industrial machinery and power-generating equipment.

Supporting this development are UK service exports across the fields of consulting and publishing, travel and transport and financial services. British SMEs enjoying success in the subcontinent include global consultancy firm KM&T and vehicle control systems manufacturer Avon Barrier. When preparing for expansion into India, businesses are encouraged to choose their geographical entry point carefully. India is enormous, with each state resembling a different county – often with its own language and cultural practices.

China
China’s economic boom has been extraordinary over the past four decades. Helping drive this transformation from a largely agrarian country into the world’s second largest economy has been the rise of a flourishing middle-class hungry for imports. Between 2010 and 2013, the country more than doubled imports from the UK.

Jaguar Land Rover remains the UK’s biggest exporter to China, where the newly wealthy have been buying up premium brands in droves. The Asian powerhouse is forecast to become the world’s largest luxury goods market by 2020. But today’s top ten UK industries exporting to the once closed market are incredibly diverse. They also include electrical machinery, mineral fuels and oils, medical, optical, photographic, cinematographic and measuring equipment, vehicles, plastics, fruits and grains, and organic chemicals

Southeast Asia
The Asean region is home to 620 million people. It includes Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and the Philippines, among other member states, and is considerably larger than the EU. Analysts predict it will become the fourth single largest market by 2030. Top exports to Singapore, which accounts for around half of all UK trade to the region, include services in the business, financial and travel sectors, manufactured goods and intellectual property.

All the Asean economies present opportunities within education, consumer and retail, financial services, creative industries and information and communications technology – especially Indonesia, which is emerging as major ICT hub. But that’s far from the whole story. Food companies, such as Wicks Manor Farm in Essex, which produces pork products, have enjoyed enormous success exporting to Singapore, Malaysia and Brunei. As in the rest of Asia, the “Made in Britain” label helps British products stand out in a market dominated by Australia and the US.

SNOW BOMB: Wall of SNOW to SMASH UK as deadly blizzards hit in COLDEST freeze for 53 YEARS

BRITAIN faces a historic CHRISTMAS WHITEOUT with “dangerous" blizzards and near record-low temperatures threatening the worst festive freeze for half a century.
By NATHAN RAO
PUBLISHED: 18:05, Mon, Dec 12, 2016 | UPDATED: 20:05, Mon, Dec 12, 2016
Violent and “deadly” Arctic storms will rage into the start of 2017 as thermometers nudge -20C triggering outbreaks of crippling snow.

Heavy and persistent wintry showers are now a near certainty across the UK on Christmas Day with multiple feet-deep snowdrifts lasting into the New Year amid sub-zero conditions.

Britons are warned to expect “major chaos” on the roads and transport networks with extreme weather threatening railway services and airports.

Councils, health and transport officials have been warned to expect the unexpected with this year shaping up to rival the historic chiller of 1963 - the coldest winter on record.

Government officials have sought to allay public fears insisting grit and salt supplies will be enough to keep the roads moving.

UK weather: Snow is forecast for Britain this Christmas
Snow is expected to fall across Scotland and the North West
Long-range experts are closely monitoring a volatile combination of environmental factors which threaten to trigger the first Christmas big freeze in years.

Weakening winds around the Arctic region - the so-called Polar vortex - have started to open the floodgates for a pool of freezing air which will gradually engulf Britain.

Falling temperatures in the East Pacific leading to a La Nina ocean cooling and changes to Atlantic waters have also been blamed.
A widespread White Christmas would be the first since the big freeze of 2010 which saw Britain grind to a halt over the holiday season.
Thousands of air and rail passengers were left stranded for days after snow and ice brought Britain’s transport networks to a standstill.

Piers Corbyn, forecaster for WeatherAction, said there is a 90-per cent chance of extreme snowfall across Scotland and the northeast this Christmas with between a 50 and 70-per cent chance elsewhere.

The West Country is the only region which could escape snow although the region has a 50 per cent chance of a flurry on Christmas Day.
Mr Corbyn said: “We expect snow showers, blizzards and thundersnow at times in Scotland, the north and the Midlands over the Christmas period threatening major road and air travel disruption.

“Christmas Day could well see major blizzards over land with storms out to sea which could reach hurricane force.

“Through to the end of December we expect further blizzards and bitter winds in Scotland and northern England.”

Long-range experts say this winter is shaping up to be the worst for at least six years after five successive mild seasons.

The Met Office said below-average temperatures are possible until February with an exceptionally bitter start to winter now a threat.

Despite autumn coming to an end last week, Britain has already had the first major cold spell of the season.

Extreme weather at the end of November saw thermometers drop to -12C in parts of the country triggering a raft of health and severe weather warnings.

Experts have warned vulnerable and elderly people not to be lulled into a false sense of security by the previous mild winters.

This year is already showing worrying similarities to 1962/63 including early cold weather triggered by high pressure over Scandinavia early in the season.

By the end of December 1962 blizzards were treating across Britain leaving impassible 20-feet snow drifts and bringing down power lines.

Snow remained for up to two months after the initial fall due to sub-zero temperatures which refused to lift.

Heavy snow forecastUK
Snow: Temperatures are forecast to drop across Britain over the next two weeks
Exacta Weather’s James Madden warned the mercury could dip to -20C by the end of the year triggering “snow event after snow event”.

He said: “December is now likely to follow a cold and snowy weather pattern across many parts of the country.

“Colder conditions will be accompanied by potentially countrywide snow events particularly around the periods of the 12th to the 17th and the 21st to the 29th of December.

“Over the next few weeks there is a very high risk for snow event after snow event across the country, with temperatures dipping as low or exceeding -20C.”

The Local Government Association (LGA) has said teams are at the ready to “protect” millions of people at risk from severe weather.

Transport spokesman Martin Tett has urged Britons to keep an eye on elderly and vulnerable friends and neighbours through the winter.

He said: “Councils are fully prepared to protect residents and minimise disruption to their residents caused by the drop in temperatures.

“We are well prepared for the cold with 1.2 million tonnes of salt stockpiled and a fleet of state-of-the-art gritters ready to be deployed.
"As well as gritting our roads and clearing snow, council teams are ready to be drafted in to help provide a variety of services to ensure we are looking out for the more vulnerable members of our communities this winter.

"But council staff can't be everywhere, they rely on community-spirited residents to look out for each other.

“Just a quick knock on the door of an elderly neighbour who's perhaps too proud or unable to ask for help can make all the difference.

“Local authorities will be constantly updating websites with information on weather, gritting routes, road conditions, school closures and bin collections.”

Bookies have been forced to slash the odds on snow this Christmas after a surge of bets triggered by recent cold weather.

JUST 30,000 skilled EU workers a year should be allowed into Britain, claims a campaign group.

Home Secretary Amber Rudd will today study the tough permit-based immigration plan.

‘Stop saying ISIS has nothing to do with Islam’ blasts Archbishop of Canterbury
ARCHBISHOP of Canterbury Justin Welby has called on faith leaders to “stand up and take responsibility” for religious violence around the world.
By VINCENT WOOD
PUBLISHED: 06:18, Sat, Nov 19, 2016 | UPDATED: 14:45, Sat, Nov 19, 2016
He also took aim at Christian and Hindu spiritual leaders to stop religious violence
The archbishop insisted we must not shy away from making religion part of the conversation as security and political officials scramble to respond to extremism.
His comments, part of a speech to the Catholic institute of Paris, also took aim at Christian and Hindu spiritual leaders, calling on them to do more to stop violence perpetrated in the name of faith.
He said: “In order to understand, religious people in Europe must regain the ability to share our religious vocabulary with the rest of the continent.
“If we treat religiously-motivated violence solely as a security issue, or a political issue, then it will be incredibly difficult – probably impossible – to overcome it.
His comments were part of a speech to the Catholic institute of Paris
“A theological voice needs to be part of the response, and we should not be bashful in offering that.

He added: “This requires a move away from the argument that has become increasingly popular, which is to say that Isis is ‘nothing to do with Islam’, or that Christian militia in the Central African Republic are nothing to do with Christianity, or Hindu nationalist persecution of Christians in South India is nothing to do with Hinduism.

“Until religious leaders stand up and take responsibility for the actions of those who do things in the name of their religion, we will see no resolution.”
Mr Welby, who in spite of voting to remain in the European Union, also levelled a scathing attack on the transnational bloc.
He hit out at the EU’s “centralisation, corruption and bureaucracy” which he claimed gave Brexit backers “easy ammunition”

The archbishop added that the bloc’s policies have caused suffering for Greece, claiming the financially struggling nation had been called on to join the euro “on a false prospectus” and turned the nation into the “biggest debtor’s prison” in European history.

His comments in the French capital come at a time of heightened tension between the nation’s Muslim population and state figures.

Former French president Nicolas Sarkozy reaffirmed his stance on the rise of political Islam ahead of the start of the countries presidential race.
Mr Welby also levelled a scathing attack on the EU
Speaking to thousands of cheering supporters in Nice on Tuesday night, the right-wing candidate lashed out at François Hollande’s flailing Socialist government, and presented himself as the saviour of France before promising to “re-establish authority”.

He said: “On May 7, 2017, playtime will be over. France is in such a critical position right now because it has been led by a weak and arrogant leader whose government has lost all authority and has no control over its people.

“We live in France. Here, the state comes first, religion comes second.

“People should be discreet about their religious beliefs. We live in a country where women are equal to men and I will not tolerate medieval behaviour.”

Europe Divided Over EU Army After Trump and Brexit
Debate has begun to heat up in Europe over the proposal to create a united European army separate from NATO. Isolationist sentiment has carried the day this year, as indicated by both the British exit from the European Union and Trump's presidential win.
The growing threat from Russia has provided further impetus to the need for independent European defensive capabilities.

The winds of change are growing strong and the EU is on course to increase its defensive capabilities, whether through the more dramatic proposal to create a wholly independent EU army is realized or if the EU simply decides it needs to supplement the defensive capabilities of NATO.

Arguing in favor of European military independence, the President of the European Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker, cited President-elect Trump's pledge to demand other NATO allies to pay their fair share and his isolationist policies as a reason to rebuild Europe's defensive capabilities.
image: http://www.prophecynewswatch.com/images/ads/DTF_Course.jpg
The EU's diplomacy head carried the argument further as he called for Europe to transform itself into what he called a "superpower" that could act as a "global security power".

Mr. Juncker, who plans to push for an independent EU army capable of competing as a world power, went on to say, "the Americans, to whom we owe much ... will not ensure the security of the Europeans in the long term.

We have to do this ourselves." Just this summer, the EU representative in global politics, Federica Mogherini, released detailed plans describing the establishment of an EU army.

She had waited until Britain's referendum to exit the EU had been decided and now has she has stated that the EU must grow its military might in response to Trump's election win.

German Defense Minister Ursula von der Leyen has also presented a plan to build a EU army. In mid-November, she published a piece in the German media in which she laid out her arguments for forming a European army in response to the new course that she believes both Brexit and the US election have set.

Britain has been a long-time opponent of plans for a European army, and its exit from the EU has confirmed its rejection of plans for a shared military force separate from NATO.

In September, it became known that France and Germany had already been engaged in high-level talks to create a common military force. The current proposal to create an EU command center and bring back joint EU battlegrounds may still fall short of a fully independent army, but it is an important first step.

Also on the table is the idea of a European investment fund for defense. Possibly managed by European banks, this fund could begin small and grow in size as member nations contribute. Backed by the European Investment Bank, the new force would gain both financial and strategic independence from NATO.

Nigel Farage, leader of the UK Independence Party, has criticized the proposal to create a separate European army. Mr. Farage was quoted as saying, "You've got Jean-Claude Juncker using the election of President Trump as a means of trying to destroy NATO by pushing his ridiculous dream of a European army."

Mr. Farage, the first British politician to speak with Trump after he had secured the presidency, went on to agree with the new Republican president, "I have to say when Trump says America should not continue to pick up such a big bill for NATO - I think he's right. The other members do need to pull their weight, and frankly there has been no proper reassessment of what NATO is ever since the Berlin wall came down over 25 years ago."
image: http://www.prophecynewswatch.com/images/ads/TFP_freedvd.jpg
He added that he would like to see a meeting between NATO member nations in which they discuss their commitment and the future of the alliance.
Jens Stoltenberg, former prime minister of Norway and current secretary general of NATO, has also roundly criticized the proposed EU army by calling it "a ghost of the past" and declaring that it had been put to rest.

He dismissed calls for creating a new military structure and stated that after he attended the European Defense Ministers meeting in Bratislava, "It was clearly stated that there is no intention to create a European Army; or establish a military headquarters similar to that of NATO's shape.

And it was also made clear that NATO remains the foundation for the collective defense of those countries that are part of the Alliance."

While the debate continues as to whether Europe, through the leadership of France and Germany, will create an independent EU army, what is clear is that EU member nations will increase their investment in defense.

Perhaps all it took was the push from Britain and some hard talk from Trump about allies pulling their weight, but the message has been received and all sides seem to agree that NATO allies in Europe need to contribute more for their common defense in an increasingly dangerous world.

http://www.breitbart.com/london/2016/11/17/sadiq-khan-doesnt-like-trump-move-london/
PHOTO KERRY and Sadiq Khan
Mayor of London Sadiq Khan has invited Americans who are annoyed at the election of Donald Trump to migrate to London.
Speaking alongside Google CEO Sundar Pichal, the invitation of Labour politician Khan comes amid rumours sad liberals are threatening to emigrate from the U.S.

Khan brought up reports that, after Donald Trump’s shock win in last week’s presidential election, left-wing Americans have been looking into migrating.

Referencing rumours that such a phenomenon caused Canada’s immigration website to crash, Khan said Trump haters with U.S. citizenship should look into migrating to the UK.

“Millions of people, I’m told, used Google’s search engine post the election on Tuesday – we know millions use it every single day,” he said.

“I heard one of the most googled things since Wednesday has been ‘how do you emigrate?’

“If talented people based in the US want to come here to London, my message is simple – London is open,” he told the audience.

Khan’s appearance follows the announcement that Google confirmed plans for a new, 10 storey expansion to its Kings Cross headquarters, which currently promises 3,000 jobs in Britain.

Describing the election last week and the reaction to it a “challenging time” the India-born businessman said he was hopeful of a smooth transition of power.

“Coming from the US, we’ve obviously been going through an important moment and it’s important to remember it’s a democratic process,” Mr. Pichal said.

“It’s a robust and challenging democratic process. But it’s important that we now have a smooth transition.

“We’ve had a deeply divided election, but we now hopefully can move beyond the rhetoric of the campaign to actually getting things done.

“And so I remain optimistic we will go through this transition well, but it’s been a challenging time and it definitely weighs on all our minds.”

The tech CEO, who was paid over $100 million in 2015 alone, announced that open borders are “absolutely” vital to the UK’s success.

Pichai warned the UK government’s planned post-Brexit crackdown on immigration could affect Google’s future plans, saying, “In our experience as a company, when we have been able to bring people together and operate in an open and connected way it achieves tremendous impact over time. Those are the values we cherish, and we have been open and public about how we think about these things.”

“Increasingly, for the kinds of complex things we do, we need to bring people who are across many disciplines—with many different backgrounds—together to solve problems. That’s how you can build newer things, so that is particularly important for us,” he added

Sources at Google say the £1 billion investment depends on Brexit negotiations, and warn that it’s at risk if the UK decides to curb or ban the immigration of skilled labour.

Recent changes to the UK’s visa policy for non-EU nationals attracted criticism from India earlier this month when Prime Minister Theresa May paid a visit. New rules saw a raise in the salary threshold for intra-company (ICT) worker transfers from outside the EU.

Indian tech company Nasscom said: “A system that restricts the UK’s ability to access talent is also likely to restrict the growth and productivity of the UK economy.”

Nearly 90 per cent of all ICTs are to Indian workers in the field of IT, while the unemployment rate of UK graduates in computer science is higher than in any other field.

The move to tighten ICTs follows years of warnings that the system, intended for employees of multinational companies who are being transferred by their overseas employer to a UK branch of the body, is being used to replace British workers with cheaper Indian labour, and relocate British jobs to India.

https://unitedwithisrael.org/london-police-warn-pro-israel-groups-not-to-disclose-location-of-events-for-security-reasons/
If pro-Israel groups are warned to keep the location of their events a secret, is that not a dire warning?
Citing security concerns, the Metropolitan Police in London have asked pro-Israel organizations not to disclose the location of their upcoming conference.

Police officers in London called representatives of both Reservists on Duty and Campaign for Truth, two pro-Israel groups, advising them that, for the safety of event attendees, the organizations should not make known where the conference will be taking place. The intention is to prevent anti-Israel protesters from knowing where to stage demonstrations, some of which are known to grow violent.

However, the police also said that they cannot provide security for an event whose location has not been disclosed, and so, if an incident occurs, they will not be onsite immediately.

The conference, “Ethics of war in the age of social media and the rise of terror,” is being hosted by Reservists on Duty and sponsored by Campaign for Truth, groups that work to undermine the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement.

Wednesday’s warning followed the violent anti-Israel rally at University College London last week, where, Jewish students attending a campus event hosted by UCL Friends of Israel and CAMERA on Campus were trapped in the hall by protesters.

It's not just the police out on patrol in London these days. There are Jewish patrol cars from the 'Shomrim' security group who're getting in on the act. And there are also Islamic Sharia patrols, who are locking horns with firebrand Christian patrols. These are known occasionally to cause trouble. They became more active after the siege at the Kosher store in Paris.

Church of England to hand mansion over to refugees
Georgian retreat house in Warwickshire could house dozens of new arrivals as clerics move to back up offers to ease refugee crisis
A Georgian mansion in rural Warwickshire owned by the Church of England is set to become home to dozens of Syrian refugees, it has emerged.
Offa House, a listed 18th Century former retreat house in the village of Offchurch near Leamington Spa, has been earmarked as a possible reception centre for new arrivals by the local Diocese of Coventry following a call from bishops for empty church buildings to be offered as housing.
The Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Rev Justin Welby, has offered a cottage in the grounds of Lambeth Palace to house refugees while parishes across the country have been collecting lorry-loads of clothes and gifts for asylum seekers in Calais.

But the 27-bedroom mansion, which has a chapel, conference suite and coach house, is by far the biggest single property set aside as part of the Church’s response to the refugee crisis – an issue which has increasingly put the Church on a collision course with the Government.

The diocese originally put the building up for sale after its closure two years ago, marketing it as a potential country hotel, private school or grand nursing home, but took it off the market and is now seeking planning permission for the new use.
A planning application submitted to Warwick District Council earlier this week includes plans of the building and outhouses and requests authorisation to use it for the next five years as “short-term residential accommodation for refugees”.
• Theresa May's immigration speech is dangerous and factually wrong
• Theresa May is right: Britain does not need more immigrants
Senior clerics have openly disagreed with Downing Street over the UK’s response to the crisis which many in the Church have dismissed as inadequate.
Earlier this week the Church of England allowed a private letter to Mr Cameron signed by more than 80 bishops to be published, challenging the Government to increase the number of refugees the UK will take from just 20,000 over five years to 50,000 and set up a national welcome board to help resettle people.
The letter was originally written last month but bishops decided to make it public after getting no response and amid anger over the tone of Theresa May’s party conference speech in which she claimed there was “no case in the national interest” far large-scale immigration.
Originally built in the as a grand rectory, Offa House was converted to serve as a retreat centre in the early 1960s, a role it fulfilled for 50 years.
A spokesman for the diocese said discussions are still at an early stage.

VIDEO: One in four British councils ‘REFUSE to accept migrants from Calais’ as Jungle closes
Oct 25, 2016

Theresa May’s own constituency, Maidenhead, is one of the 38 councils out of 156 in England that are unwilling to resettle migrants, according to the Guardian.
The councils’ policy towards migrants have come to light as the country braces itself to accommodate refugees coming out of the Calais refugee camp.
Amber RuddHome Secretary Amber Rudd insists that the Home Office is carrying out checks on migrants

Home Secretary Amber Rudd said 800 migrant children – who have been interviewed in Calais by Home Office officials – claim to have family links in Britain.
A further 200 child migrants have been brought to Britain in the past week, including 60 girls under the Dubs amendment, which is designed to protect vulnerable child refugees across Europe.

Mrs Rudd insisted child migrants will be subjected to proper “age assessment and security check” before they are allowed to come to Britain.

Child migrantsHundreds of child migrants are due to arrive in the UK over the coming weeks

She said: “We will only consider those present in the camps before the start of the operation today.
“We will continue to do this quickly, but it is essential that we carry out the proper safeguarding, age assessment and security checks, working closely with local authorities and social workers here in the UK, to ensure that the children are eligible, and that it is in their best interests to come.”

David Simmonds, chairman of the Local Government Association’s asylum, refugee and migration task group, said social workers will be provided by local authorities to carry out assessments to ensure the process is managed effectively.

He said: “Those arriving from the Calais camp will require care and support packages directly from councils and their partners.
“For those children relocated with existing family living in the UK, councils will still want to be assured that arrangements put in place can meet the child’s needs and that they are safe and well.”

Mr Simmonds added town halls “also require long-term funding arrangements from government so that the commitment to support those children starting a new life in the UK is properly funded”.

Campaigners say hundreds of children in the camp have a right to come to Britain – either because they have family ties in the UK or through a programme to give refuge to unaccompanied minors from Europe.

Hundreds more child migrants are set to come to Britain from the Calais Jungle camp from next week.

Calais migrants

The Government has agreed to take in up to 300 unaccompanied refugee children from the squalid camp even if they do not have a family link already in Britain under the Dubs amendment.

The Dubs amendment, named after Lord Alf Dubs, grants vulnerable unaccompanied child migrants safe passage into Britain if it is in their best interests.

This wave of child migrants follows the arrival of scores of other juvenile refugees earlier this week, which caused widespread controversy due to the fact many of them appeared to be adults.

Philip Davies MP urged the Home Office to conduct dental checks on the latest migrant intake in a bid to prove they are under 18, saying: “People only have to see the pictures to see that they are not children.”

The Home Office has now erected a 15ft screen outside its Croydon immigration centre to guard the privacy of the child migrants and shield them from photographers.

Yesterday, under the EU’s Dublin Regulation, a group of unaccompanied minors with relatives already living in Britain arrived in South London.

The Dublin Regulation is an EU agreement forcing member states to consider asylum applications from refugees seeking international protection.

The remaining children Britain has agreed to take in are set to cross the Channel in the next 36 hours.

A Home Office spokesman said: “Our focus is, and will continue to be, transferring eligible children and young people from Calais to the UK before the camp clearance begins.

“We urge everyone, including the media, to respect the privacy of these vulnerable individuals.”

The French government is set to evacuate the Calais Jungle next week, prompting fears for the safety of the 1,000 child migrants still holed-up in the makeshift site.

Many of them will be housed temporarily in shipping containers as French officials bulldoze the camp.

A spokeswoman for the French housing ministry said: “They are going to stay there for 15 days, perhaps less, while we look for suitable solutions.”

Doulos Meditation on John 2:12

Scripture: John 2:12—After this he went down to Capernaum with his mother, his brothers, and his disciples; and they remained there a few days.

Reflection: Capernaum in Hebrew is Kefar Nachum which means “Nahum’s hamlet.” There is probably no connection with the Old Testament prophet by that name. Its ruins are still to be seen on the northwestern shore of the Lake of Galilee. It was first occupied about 150 BC and deserted sometime after the 8th century AD.

After Jesus was rudely rejected by the synagogue worshippers in Nazareth, he moved to Capernaum, making it his headquarters for most of the Great Galilean ministry. It was the home town of Peter, his brother Andrew, and of the fishermen brothers James and John. Here Matthew worked as tax collector.

There are interesting ruins of a third or fourth century synagogue which seems to have been built over an older synagogue foundation—perhaps the very place where Jesus preached.

An intriguing house excavation may be that of Peter’s residence where Jesus healed Peter’s mother in law of a severe fever. A later octagonal church was built over what was considered a sacred spot where the floor layout and symbols suggest a first century place of worship.

Prayer Starter: Father, we are intrigued to think Jesus may have stood where so many of we tourists have stood since. Thank you for allowing us to get a glimpse of our Lord. Amen.

U.K. Boy Born With Two Percent of Brain Stunning Doctors Years After Mom Refused Abortion   Oct 16, 2016 07:02 am
noah-compressedPhoto Credit: Mark Three Media CUMBRIA, U.K. -- A now four-year-old boy who is defying the odds after being born with only two percent of a brain was featured this past week in a U.K. documentary about his miraculous story. Noah Wall first made headlines in 2014 as his mother shared about how she and her husband repeatedly refused recommendations to abort and have been pleasantly surprised at her son’s progress despite a grim prognosis.
Shelly Wall had been advised months into her 2012 pregnancy that her son had spina bifida, chromosome abnormalities and hydrocephalus. As he was not expected to survive, doctors recommended an abortion—again and again.
“We were offered termination five times,” Rob Wall recalled in the new documentary “The Boy Without a Brain.” “It was never an option for us. To me, we wanted to give Noah that chance of life.”
The couple did, however, make funeral arrangements, but on March 6, 2012, Noah was born—alive. His parents were thankful to hear his first cry.
Noah was paralyzed from the chest down and required surgery for a large hole in his back. He also had only two percent brain tissue—the rest being filled with cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), which required the implantation of a drain.
But as time went by, Noah progressed like other toddlers—talking and singing and smiling, and defying the odds.

Now, years later, doctors are now stunned to find that Noah’s brain has grown substantially and is nearly fully functional. “We’ve had three years not knowing how long he’s going to live, so to hear his brain’s almost back to normal is beyond belief,” Shelly Wall states in the documentary. “Rob and I broke down when we heard the news. It was like a dream. I’ve never known anything like it. Even the consultants were in tears.”
“Every time we see the doctors, they just shake their head. They’re just amazed at what he can do,” she said.
Noah’s brain scans are now being used to study spina bifida, and his parents have decided to give back by donating two special wheelchairs to Great North Children’s Hospital in Newcastle—the same kind that Noah uses. He also uses leg braces for mobility as well.
“We know he will face more surgery,” Shelly said. “But he is such a remarkable little boy who has already come so far.”
“The Boy With No Brain” aired on Tuesday on UK television.
“They say we only use a small part of our brain, but Noah has had to learn how to use all of what little brain he was born with,” a description of the documentary reads in part. “But that’s not all he’s done. Over the past year he has done something even more remarkable—his brain has appeared to grow back.”
