Doubting God's Goodness
Genesis 3:1-7

Did you ever doubt God's goodness and mercy?
Living in this fallen world can challenge our faith in God's goodness.
The pain and suffering that resulted from
Adam and Eve's sin may cloud our understanding of the Lord and tempt us to blame
Him for every difficulty. Then we might wonder why He doesn't always relieve
hardship, fix our problems, and give us what we want.

When Eve listened to the serpent's lies, she began to
doubt that the Lord had made the right choice in forbidding her to eat
from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Why would He deprive
her of wisdom and the enjoyment of food that looked so desirable?

Our thoughts are similar to Eve's when we do not
agree with our Father about what is best for us. From a human
perspective, "good" refers to that which is enjoyable, delightful,
comfortable, or profitable. But God has a much higher standard and is
always working to achieve His purpose—to develop Christ-like character
within His children.

Behind every restriction or commandment from the Lord
is His loving care for His followers. He knows the tormenting
consequences of sin and wants to deter us from rebellious choices that
will wreck our lives. In refusing His will, we choose pain and trouble.

Eve learned through disobedience that God knows what
is best. We have opportunity each day to discover His goodness by
listening to His voice, obeying His commands, and trusting His wisdom.
Whatever comes our way, we can know that He is working for both our
temporal and eternal good.
Never doubt God's goodness. God is good all the time.

FAITH - The 4 Acts of Faith

What is Faith? Faith is believing when you cannot see or hear.
Let's see what the Bible says. If you look in HEBREWS (which is
called the "FAITH" chapter) we see:

Hebrews 11:1 "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the
evidence of things not seen".

Hebrews 11:6 "But without faith it is impossible to please him: for
he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a
rewarder of them that diligently seek him".
Without Faith it is impossible to please God.

Let's look at:
THE WOMAN WITH THE ISSUE OF BLOOD

I'd like to share this with you today about the "WOMAN WITH THE
ISSUE OF BLOOD" - Matthew 9:20-26; Mark 5:25

This recount of the "woman with the issue of Blood" is found in 2 of
our 4 gospels. This is a good "faith" message. This woman had fought
with her physical problem for many years, 12 years the Bible tells
us, and had, according to scripture, tried many physicians and
everything she knew to do and had exhausted all her resources, spent
all she had and without receiving any help. We can speculate that
perhaps she needed a hysterectomy, but in those days, they didn't
have the scientific and medical knowledge we have today.
The Bible tells us she had a problem with an issue of blood, so we
can assume that this is the case.

My husband preached a wonderful sermon called: "The 4 Acts of Faith"
from which I am going to "borrow". (ok honey?)

THE 4 ACTS OF FAITH (by Pastor Pavone)
There are 4 acts of Faith. We can break Faith down into these
4 acts.

FIRST ACT:
1. SAY IT - First you have to say something.
This woman said in Matthew 9 verse 21: "If I may be TOUCH His
garment, I shall be whole".
She spoke POSITIVE words. She SAID something.
Here we see this woman EXERCISED her "Faith" that if she could but
touch the hem of His garment she would be healed. She SAID it.
Without Him Jesus even praying for her, she knew she
would be healed. She believed.

SECOND ACT:

2. ACT on it. This woman followed up her STATEMENT
of saying it by acting upon it. Verse 20, she "touched" the hem of
His garment. She did something. She performed an ACT. By touching
the hem of His garment she was putting into action what she said and
what she believed, that by doing so, she would be healed.

THIRD ACT:

3. ACCEPT it. This woman immediately ACCEPTED her healing and so
immediately was made whole (verse 22). Jesus knew something had
happened. People were "touching" Him all the time, but this was a
different kind of "touch". This was a "touch of faith".

This was a reaching out of "FAITH TOUCH" and Jesus knew
it. We need to reach out in faith and believe God for what we need.

FOURTH ACT:

4. THANK HIM - The Bible doesn't specify that she thanked Jesus, but
I'm sure she did. We should always be thankful when we receive
something from God.

People of God, put your FAITH into practice.

SAY IT
ACT ON IT
ACCEPT IT
THANK HIM

Those are the "4 Acts of Faith".
(end)
(Thank you honey for letting me borrown that part).

************ ********* ********* **

It usually takes my husband about 35 minutes to preach this (his
usually preaching time which rearely is less than that nor more than
45 which is about the perfect time for a preacher to preach a
message).
He expounds on this beautifully preaching it under the anointing of
the Holy Spirit the way God gave it to him. I am sure however that
we have all grasped the "4 Acts of Faith" in this short study.

As we read our Bibles we will find that Jesus frequently made
mention of true faith. He spoke of a faith that can move mountains
if we believe, cause miracles and healing to come to pass and
accomplish great things for God. True faith can
remove mountains in our lives.

see Mark 11:22 - "Have faith in God".
Mark 11:23 - ".....That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, be
thou removed and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in
his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall
come to pass, he shall have whatsoever he saith".

Now that's faith.
True faith comes by reading God's Word and having a "relationship"
with our heavenly Father.

Here are some more FAITH scriptures. There are many in the Bible,
but these are just a few I've written down.

Please be sure to read all of HEBREWS 11 the Faith chapter. It will
boost your faith.

Matthew 17:20 "And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief:
for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard
seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place;
and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you".

If we but have FAITH as a grain of mustard seed what things we can
accomplish.

Hebrews 11:4 "By FAITH Abel offered unto God a more excellent
sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was
righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet
speaketh".

Hebrews 11:5 "By FAITH Enoch....

Hebrews 11:7 "By FAITH Noah...

Hebrews 11:8 "By FAITH Abraham...
etc.

Faith is something which grows. Jesus said we can start off with a
faith as tiny as a mustard seed and it will grow. Our covenant
relationship with God is a relationship of exchange. As we trust him
with the little things, we will begin to trust him more with the
bigger things in life. His relationship with us is the same. He
never changes.

When you go to the all to turn on a light switch, you are using
NATURAL FAITH in that you know when you flick that switch the light
will come on.
The same way, we can use spiritual faith, in that when we go to God
in prayer in FAITH we know our prayers will be answered.

Dwight L. Moody once said there are three kinds of faith in Christ:

1. Struggling faith - like a man desperately swimming in shark
infested waters
2. clinging faith - like a man hanging to the side of a boat in the
same waters
3. Resting faith - like a man safely within the boat rowing away
from the sharks (and not only getting away from the sharks, but also
able to reach out to help others get in).

Have faith in God. Believe in Him.
God bless you.

Here's a poem about Faith
By: Luther Elvis Albright

FAITH
It's said that Faith is confidence
and I believe it's so,
And if we exercise our faith,
it's bound to grow and grow.

Faith is belief that God is real,
can save and sanctify,
and confidence that daily He
will all our needs supply. (AMEN!)

And Faith is knowledge that our God
will hear us when we pray, (again Amen!)
that He knows just what's best for us,
will lead us day by day.

So let us exericse our Faith
and let us always know
that Faith is confidence, my friend,
let's help it grow and grow.

Sending this out to EVERYONE as I am tired of people who are supposed to be born again
fighting! Don't they realize God is watching? Don't they realize God sees and hears all????
They will be held accountable. Be careful NOT to offend anyone. This is going out to everyone
on my list, so it is not meant for any one individual. To forgive is being Christ-like. Forgive your enemies!!!

CHRISTIAN CHARACTER & BEHAVIOR

How should a Christian behave? What characteristics should a born-
again believer have?

Reading in Ephesians 4:32 (KJV).
Be kind the Bible tells us. When a person is born again by the
Spirit of God he/she becomes a new creature in Christ. The inherent
nature of this life will then become gentle, gracious, kind, good
and benevolent. We would hope this would be true of every person.
Such characteristics will dominate the entire life of the person.
They make up the real Christian personality.

A Christian should always be mindful of the fact that they are a Child of God
and behave like it.

They should not easily be upset, discouraged, or try to "get even"
when someone rubs us the wrong way.

A true born-again believer should be loving, kind, and most of all, forgiving. A rule
I have always tried to follow is: FORGIVE AT THE MOMENT OF OFFENSE.

When the Bible tells us to be tenderhearted it is in our
relationship with other people, both saved and unsaved. We should be
moved to love, to pity, to sorrow, to sympathy, and to
understanding. We should always forgive one another no matter how
hurt we get from others, especially of those not saved because they
don't even know any better.

A forgiving spirit is Christlike, for on the cross we are reminded
how Christ prayed for those who had so cruelly treated Him and yet
Jesus said: "Father forgive them for they know not what they do".
He is our example. If He can forgive, so must we. Jesus taught that
His followers should be willing to forgive without limit. Even as
God hath forgive us, so should we forgive others, especially those
who despitefulloy use us. How many of us have people who USE us for
their own selfish purposes? Learn to forgive them. Every Christian
who tries really hard to live up to these Biblical standards will be
a happier Christian. Our Christian character & behavior should
always reflect Christ so that people know we are what we profess to
be.

1 Corinthians 13 Love is patient; love is kind.
God bless you all.

One of my husband's old recorded preaching messages:

"Getting Used to the Dark"
by Pastor Rev. Anthony Pavone,Sr.

My message today is about getting used to the dark.
Christians today have become complacent to the ways of the world and
have been accepting sin as the norm. People need to get out of the
darkness and into God's light. Have you ever eaten in a dimly lit
restaurant? When the food came you ate it by faith, since you
couldn't really see, but eventually your eyes become adjusted to the
darkness and you can see a little.

It is the same with people who are walking in darkness because they
walk without the Savior. The longer you stay in darkness, the more
clearly you can distinguish an object or, adapt to the world and the
world's sinful ways. Isn't it something how your eyes can adjust to
darkness? So it is that can we adjust to the world. Paul said: "men
love darkness rather than light because their deeds are evil." God
knew from the beginning that LIGHT was not compatible with darkness.
God said, "Let there be Light".

Paul states that in 2 Corinth. 4:6 God commanded the light to shine
out of darkness. To have light and darkness at the same time is
impossible. You end up having neither.

Jesus said in Luke 16:13 "No servant can serve two masters, for
either he will hate the one and love the other or else he will hold
to the one and despise the other."
Jesus said: "I didn't come to send peace, but a sword". Don't follow
the crowd. If sheep are heading for a cliff, only those
sheep that separate themselves will live. The church is slowly being
desensitized to evil.

Think of the story of the frog. If you place a frog in hot boiling
water, he will jump out. But if you put him in cool water and gently
heat the water until it gets hot, little by little, he will
eventually die. We have progressed to a society where sin is the
norm and holy living is despised and ridiculed. With the use of
television we can now view in our living rooms the deeds of Sodom
and Gomorrah. Solomon said, "The eye is not satisfied with seeing,
nor the ear filled with hearing".

We have been reprogrammed to accept change that is NOT acceptable to
God's standards of holiness. Instead of speaking out against sin,
the church has become apathetic. Lot was a righteous man, but he
moved into Sodom and the bible states, he was vexed by the
filthy conversations and lifestyles of the city. Where do we spend
our time? Paul said that "friendship with the world is enmity
against God". The longer one lives in Sodom, the less objectionable
and repulsive the worlds seems.

We no longer speak out against sin, but rather seem to accept it. We
should have no fellowship with the works of darkness. There was a
time when SIN shocked us.

Today it is acceptable to see couples having children without
benefit of marriage; to see couples living together without benefit
of marriage; to see people of the same sex living together in sin,
and yet, all of this is being accepted in today's society. "Be
separate" the Bible tells us in 2 Corin. 6:14-17. Don't be deceived
the world is not getting better. My Bible declares: "where is
abounds, the grace of God doth much more abound". He which has begun
a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.
Paul said, "we have not run in vain, neither labored in vain.
Don't give up! God is not mocked".

Galatians 6:7-9 "Eye hath not seen, neither ear hear."

The longer one stays in the dark the better they can see.
Jesus Christ is the Light. Place Him at the center of your life.
Come out of darkness into His marvelous Light.
God bless you all.

WORD FOR TODAY

So often, it's easy to get caught up in our to-do lists of life. You might even
have a spiritual checklist in your mind of all the things you think you need todo in order to please God. And we should have the desire to please Him and
follow His commands, but pleasing Him starts with our heart condition.

Scripture tells us in 1 Corinthians that only faith, hope and love will last into
eternity. We can't have faith unless we first have hope, and our faith won't
work without love. The point is that we have to remember to adjust our focus and make sure that we aren't just going through the motions in our spiritual walk.
We can do a lot of "good" things, too. But if we don't have love, they won't
matter in eternity. We can have a lot of knowledge, but if we don't have love, it won't do us any good. However, when love is the foundation for everything we
do, it honors God and opens the door for the life of victory in blessing He has prepared for you!

Post  Admin Fri 19 Aug 2011, 3:16 pm

WORD FOR TODAY:
TRUE WORSHIP

Going to church is a visible, tangible expression of our love and
worship toward God, but does not reflect the believer's true worship.
It is where we can gather with other believers to publicly bear witness of our
faith
and trust in God, something that is required of all Christians (Matthew
10:32-33)
and it is where we can bring Him offerings of praise, thanks, and honor, which
are pleasing to Him. But we can also do the same at home, when the church doors
are not open. True worship is an on-going all the time worship. We need to
honor our God during the week, at home, at work, at school, wherever we are.

True worship is interaction with the Divine Presence of God.
We come "before his presence" with singing. Psalm 100:2
The presence of God abides in our worship and praise. Psalm 22:3.
Jesus Himself sung in the midst of the church. Hebrews 2:12. "In
the midst of the church will I sing praise unto thee". (Jesus sings
praises to the Father.)
The "sound of many waters" in the church's praise is a
manifestation of the voice of the almighty!
(Revelation 1:15; Ezekiel 43:2.)

We ascend into His Presence.
As we ascend into His presence with the "wings" of prayer and
praise, we manifest the Glory of God as did the living creatures in
the vision of Ezekiel. Ezekiel 1:28, 14. With uplifted hands, eyes
focused on the Lord, we ENTER IN to worship.

The psalmist wrote, "I will declare Your name to My brethren; In the
midst of the assembly I will praise You" (Psa. 22:22). People are
often motivated toward church attendance for how it will bless
themselves, however we should remember that the primary purpose of
the corporate gathering is to bring "service" to the Lord as a
blessing to Him (Psa. 134:2).

Indeed, the Lord is deserving of our time and energy to honor Him
with our service of devotion. "You are worthy, O Lord, To receive
glory and honor and power; For You created all things, And by Your
will they exist and were created" (Rev. 4:11).

There are many scriptures that tell us to worship the Lord our God,
to give Him thanks. Too many to list. Here are just a few.

1. John 4:23,24 - God seeks true worshipers. God wants people to
worship Him. That is why man was created to worship Him.

2. Psalm 108:1-6 - Thanksgiving and praise 2 Samuel 22:50 Therefore
I will give thanks unto thee, O LORD, among the heathen, and I will
sing praises unto thy name. 1 Chron.16:34 O give thanks unto the
LORD; for he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever.

3. Psalm 22:3 - Moves us into His presence

4. Moves us into His presence - Psalm 22:3

5. Clapping and lifting hands: Psalm 47:1; 134:2; 141:2, Isaiah
55:12

6. Psalm 100:2 - Come before His presence with singing

But true worship is when we release our praise to God, when we totally
trust in Him to provide our needs, and when we make Him the very
center of our lives.

True worship is not just going to church on Sunday. True worship
is truly letting the Lord know we love Him, honor Him, serve Him,
and it is every day of our lives, wherever we are.

How much FAITH do you have? Not everyone has the same amount, but, every
believer has been given a measure of faith. In order to see the promises of God
come to pass in your life, you have to give expression to that faith through the
words that you speak. We must declare what God says about us in His Word in
order to activate those seeds of faith within. That’s why the scripture tells
us, “Let the weak say I am strong. Let the poor say I am rich.” When you give
your faith a voice, you send forth the Word of God into the atmosphere. The
Bible says that He watches over His Word to bring it to pass in your life.

I cannot stress this enough. The key is that we can’t allow words of defeat or
negativity to come out of our mouths. Don’t dig up your seed by speaking against
His Word. Instead, water your seed by continuing to declare the Word of God.
ALWAYS be postive in your speech.

When you wake up every morning, thank Him that His promises are coming to pass
in your life. Throughout the day, continue speaking words of faith and life. As
you give your faith a voice, you will see God's promises come to pass, and you
will live the abundant life He has prepared for you.

Theresa Q. Pavone,A.TH, B.TH Empty WHAT Is FEAR?

Post  Admin Wed 11 Sep 2013, 11:13 pm

WHAT IS FEAR?
We are living in fear-provoking times. Nowadays people worry
about the price of gas, foreclosures on homes, disturbed people
with guns killing people in malls, churches and places of
ministry. There are wars and rumors of war. Many have feelings
of hopelessness, depression, anxiety and fear.

But we, as Christian believers, should not fear any of these
things for we know that God is in control.

From the Greek comes the word phobos, from which we get English
word "phobia. " Some common fears are:
Fear of the dark,
Fear of rejection,
Fear of failure,
Fear of danger,
Fear of heights
Fear of dying
Aquaphobia - Fear of water
Brontophobia is the terror of thunderstorms.
Claustrophobia is the fear of being trapped in a small confined
space.
Arachnophobia, or the fear of spiders, is the number #1 fear of
most people

Many fear failure in life, some fear being alone (many people
can’t be alone and by themselves), some fear loss of
income, finances, loss of jobs, fear of commitment (many people
can’t commit to marriage for that reason, especially men),
there is fear of rejection, fear of death, and on and on the
list goes. Yet we are commanded NOT to fear. “fear
not” the bible tells us. We serve a great and mighty God.
He will provide all our needs so we don’t need to have
many of these fears.
WHAT IS MY BIGGEST FEAR ABOUT LIVING TODAY’S WORLD AS A
CHRIST-FOLLOWER? Being persecuted as a Christian would be my
answer.
The Bible is telling us here in verse 14 to NOT be afraid.
But yet today many people, even Christians live in fear.
OK…
Let’s take a look at the time of Jesus when some of His
disciples expressed a different kind of fear, a normal fear for
their lives:

Matthew 8:23-27
23 And when he was entered into a ship, his disciples followed
him
.24 And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch
that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep.
25 And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord,
save us: we perish.
26 And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little
faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and
there was a great calm.
27 But the men marvelled, saying, What manner of man is this,
that even the
The Greek word translated "timid" is different from the normal
word for fear. This relatively rare word is always used in a
negative sense, most interestingly in Revelation 21, where Jesus
is speaking: Rev. 21:6 "It is done. I am the Alpha and the
Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give to the one who
thirsts from the spring of the water of life without
cost.” 7 "He who overcomes shall inherit these things,
and I will be his God and he will be My son.” 8 "But for
the cowardly and unbelieving and abominable and murderers and
immoral persons and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their
part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone,
which is the second death."
"But for the cowardly" ! This is the same word Jesus uses in Mark
4. He says to his disciples, in effect, "You cowards, you have no
faith!"

To have FEAR is to have NO FAITH. We should not think for
tomorrow and be afraid we won’t have enough food or enough
money. We can be concerned about these things, but not FEAR.
Fear is the opposite of faith. We have to have FAITH in God. We
especially should not fear if we are persecuted because of our
belief in the Lord. We should have no fear of that.

Focus on your blessings.
Therefore, we need to FOCUS ON YOUR BLESSINGS. READ KJV vs. 13,14
So then…… if we are persecuted for righteousness sake,
instead of being angry we should not fear nor be afraid according
to verse 14.
Before we move on………. Let’s look at this
portion of scripture:
Remember when the disciples asked Jesus, "Don' t you care?" In 1
Peter 5:7 LETS READ:
“ Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for
you.” So this verse tells us we should not worry or have
concerns in life because the Lord cares about us.
So when we let fear dwell in us, we are actually unbelieving that
God will take care of us.. We are thinking either that He doesn't
care, or that He's not in control of the situation. The true
believer will not respond to circumstances in fear but rather
will immediately turn to God for His divine protection.

Today we might have people who persecute us for our belief in
Christ. They might come against us at our place of work, our
neighbors might bully us or give us a hard time because of our
faith, even our so-called friends. We can stand tall in the
assurance that we are being persecuted just as Peter said, for
the cause of Christ. We should not fear these people. We should
cast our care upon Him and let Him fight our battles for us.

(FDR) President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, at his first inaugural
address after the 1932 elections. “The only thing we have
to fear is fear itself. That is the assurance we have.

Fear lurks around every imaginable corner, it threatens to poison
your inner peace and outward poise. It watches for your most
vulnerable moment, then picks the lock that safeguards your
secur

We as Christians should honor the Lord always. We should pray
often, read our bibles often, attend church services, always
keeping our spiritual eyes and ears open so that fear cannot grip
us. Many places of work will not allow you to read your bibles.
That’s where persecution comes in
So that when the persecution of our faith comes our way we are to
speak gently to the offenders.
In Matt. 10:28 it says: "Don’t be afraid of those who
want to kill you. They can only kill your body; they cannot touch
your soul. Fear only God, who can destroy both soul and body in
hell.” So basically what that means is they cannot touch
our soul. As believers, we belong to Him

This is talking about when Christ died and then arose again.

We could never have a right relationship with the Heavenly Father
because of our sin and so that is why Jesus died once for all for
our sin.
Christians troubles come our way. We need not have any fear.
Peter told Christians that suffered for righteousness sake they
needed to remember they are still blessed. We are blessed
people. We ought to have a healthy respect and awe- fear - for
God’s holiness and power. So, instead of thinking that
fear will never come, understand that although it is inevitable,
we can choose what we fear. We need to fear God not man.

LAST…..The over-coming of fear is what we are proclaiming
here in this lesson. But the human being doesn’t have to
be afraid; we should not be afraid! That is what makes Christians
different from unbelievers. In the midst of every situation where
there is no way out, where nothing is clear, where it is our
fault, we know that there is hope, and this hope is called: Thy
will be done, yes, thy will is being done. What does God’s
Word say about fear? Isaiah 41:10 “ Fear not for I am
with thee”. What can you do to live victorious.
