GO TO JESUS

From:                     Charlie Dean

"For we have not a high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin...Hebrews 4:15."

None of us are perfect, we try but we fail. We say no to sin, yet, occasionally, the best of us stumble. That's why 1 John 1:9 is there: "If we confess our sins he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us of all unrighteousness."

But consider this, Jesus was without sin as it states in Hebrews.   He walked as a man, and never sinned, not once.   He was perfect, without sin, and the devil couldn't lay a glove on him. Nope, perfect he walked, not some days but EVERY DAY. Every day, he could look evil in the eye, and evil had to back down. Yet, this perfect soldier of God's, this perfect man, this Son of God, permitted himself to be hung on the cross and ALL THE SIN in the world was dumped on him.  He permitted this, having defeated them all, he then hung on the cross and permitted sin to be put on him for us.

"For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth in him shall not perish but have everlasting life." John 3:16

When we have problems and are faced with temptations, let’s go to Jesus.   He not only defeated sin but left his words behind and the Holy Spirit to guide us. Let’s do as the word says in Hebrews 4:16: "Let us, therefore, come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need."

Let’s do that!   A strong, brave, and fearless soldier paid the price that we could make that walk and come boldly before God and if anyone says who said you could come before the Throne of Grace, then just say, “Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God”.  You'll get your pass to the throne. Have a blessed day.

The grand object of the eye of faith!

(Charles Spurgeon)

"We fix our eyes not on what is seen--but on what is unseen.

For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal!"
   2 Corinthians 4:18

In our Christian pilgrimage it is well for the most part to be looking forward. Forward lies the crown--and onward is the goal. Whether it is for hope, for joy, for consolation, or for the inspiring of our love--the future must, after all, be the grand object of the eye of faith!

Looking into the future--the Christian sees sin cast out, the body of sin and death destroyed, thesoul made perfect, and fit to be a partaker of eternal glory. Looking further yet, the believer's enlightened eye can see death's river passed. He sees himself . . .
  enter within the pearly gates,
  hailed as more than conqueror,
crowned by the hand of Christ,
embraced in the arms of Jesus,
  glorified with Him, and
made to sit together with Him on His throne!

Contemplation of my glorious future may well relieve,
the darkness of the past, and
    the gloom of the present!

The joys of Heaven will surely compensate for the sorrows of earth!

Hush, hush, my fears!

Death
is but a narrow stream--and you shall soon have forded it!

Death--how brief!
Immortality--how endless!

Time--how short!
Eternity--how long!

The road is so, so short! I shall soon be there!

"In the future, there is reserved for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me on that day; and not only to me--but to all those who have loved His appearing!" 2 Timothy 4:8

"Our citizenship is in Heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who . . . will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like His glorious body!" Philippians 3:20-21

Hello Dear Friend

These are Noonday devotions, my Name is Keith or as everyone calls me KK and I am British. I live in Nanjing China, where I am an English tutor. My Chinese wife and I have been married seven years

I hope you enjoy the devotions, I am not a pastor, just an ordinary Christian who loves the word of God and to share what God shows me from his word. Hope you enjoy the devotions, They have been proofread, I am a simple guy who God chooses to use

The only thing I ask is that you share them with your friends and social media groups. I do this for free to benefit the Body of Christ, no donations accepted or asked

Please listen to the sermons at the bottom, I have heard every word and they are really good.

If you don't wish to receive these devotions, just let me know. If you have been blessed then please let me know also. If you have been sent these devotions and would like to receive them directly or to make contact with me, then email me at keitherichobkirk@hotmail.com

ACTS 17 And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.

THERE SOME THINGS YOU NEED NOT KNOW

In life, there are some things we shouldn't know, or to put it another way, it's better not to know certain things.

I wonder if we know the date and time of the second coming?  How wonderful it would be if we knew the day of Christ’ return…right?  Maybe it would change the way we live and share the gospel.

Jesus is the One coming back, and even He doesn't know the time he is coming back, so you think….we are going to let you in on a secret.

Look at the cults, nearly every cult proclaims they know the date of Christ's second coming, and they have been made to look very foolish.

But we are given clues, yes in passages such as Matthew 24 and others.

But our primary focus is one of watching and serving God. We will see our jobs in the second devotion.

The ten virgins are a prime example. Only five trimmed their lamps; many people inside the church will be caught unaware when Jesus comes again.

What will happen if he finds the Christian in adultery or doing something he/she shouldn't? Do you think he will be taken and raptured?

We shouldn’t worry when He will return; Our focus should be on living our lives as if He could return at any moment.   That means serving God and living lives of holiness that please Him.

GOD BLESS

ACTS 18 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

DYNAMIC WITNESSING

We saw in the first devotion, that we aren't to be worried about when Jesus will come. It's interesting that Jesus hasn't even ascended back to heaven and the disciples are trying to find out when He is returning.

What is the key word here? It is BUT!

Jesus recommissions the disciples. Remember in Matthew 28, He said all power is given in heaven and earth to Him, and now that power was to be given to the Apostles and Disciples.

What would of happened if the disciples had gone directly to the temple and started preaching? Nothing would of happened, because the Holy Spirit wasn't given to them yet!

It's great to look into the Greek here. "Power" is the word dunamis, which is where we get the English word, dynamite.  Remember, that we don't just have a message that is powerful, but one that is ABSOLUTE DYNAMITE!   A message that shatters nations and empires.

The second Greek word is maturos. This is the word for "witnesses." We get our English word, martyr from this; nearly all the twelve disciples became martrys, all except John.

God had a plan: first the Jews, then Samaria and then the Gentiles. God knows what He's doing and we have to follow His leading.

Notice also that the power was personal, "ye shall receive power," that is still the case today. We have the same power, that dunamis living inside of us. Why is it living inside of us? Because we are to be bold witnesses for Christ; we are to do the same things as the disciples did! They said they were there to tell what they had seen and heard Jesus do. It is our purpose to tell what Jesus has done in our lives.

May we be witnesses just like the disciples were to all Jesus said and did…Amen.

Filled with dynamic power.

GOD BLESS YOU
KK

The Wednesday Word

Saved and Safe

D.G. Miles McKee

“They shall Never Perish” John 10:28.

"Did Jesus once upon thee shine?
Then Jesus is forever thine."
William Hammond

There is no need for believers to fear death or judgment.  Our advocate and Judge are one and the same (2 Timothy 4:1). We are, therefore, saved and we are safe (1 John 2:1).

John Newton, the writer of Amazing Grace says of the safety of the believer,

“Rejoice, believer, in the Lord
Who makes your cause His own;
The hope that’s built upon His Word,
Can ne’er be overthrown.

Though many foes beset your road,
And feeble is your arm;
Your life is hidden with Christ in God
Beyond the reach of harm..

Weak as you are, you shall not faint,
Or fainting shall not die;
Jesus, the strength of every saint,
Will aid you from on high..”

We are both saved and safe! Those whom the Saviour has rescued can never be un-rescued.

Concerning people who believe that we can be saved and then lost, Spurgeon said, and I paraphrase, ‘Those who hold this view need to go up to heaven and set the angels straight on this matter. They need to tell them not to rejoice until the sinner dies and goes to heaven, because they may be rejoicing too soon. What if he repents but later falls away and is lost? The angels shouldn’t be so fast with their joy!’ (see Luke 15:10).

We are both saved and safe!

The purchased of the Lord cannot be unpurchased. If a person could lose their salvation, the following would have to happen ...

l. They would have to perish, which Christ said could never happen (John 10:28).

2. Christ would have to cast them out, which He promised never to do (John 6:37).

 3. Christ would have to leave them, which He said He would never do (Hebrews 13:5).

4. God would have to break the salvation "chain" of Romans 8:29-30 which clearly declares that every justified person will be glorified (that is, will enjoy final salvation).

 5. The Holy Spirit would have to leave them, which is impossible since he is sealed unto the day of redemption (Ephesians 4:30).

Salvation is the gift of God and God’s gifts are “irrevocable” (Romans 11:29).
Christ gives His sheep the gift of eternal life (John 10-17-28).

Eternal life, therefore, cannot be temporary.
It is eternal life.
It is not provisional life,
It’s eternal.
We are both saved and safe!

When Christ Jesus hung upon the cross all the sins of His people …past, present and future were put away forever. Satan was dealt a fatal blow (Colossians 2:15).  The work of redemption was finished. When Christ died, He died as the substitute for His people.  If someone for whom He became a substitute can perish, then Christ is a failure.

But, we are both saved and safe and Christ is a success!

“But what if I mess up?”
Here’s some good news; Jesus is fuller of grace than we are of sins.  Faith grasps this! It’s true that at times, we may not feel worthy enough to call God our Father, but the New Testament asks, “Who shall lay anything to the charge of God’s elect? It is Christ who died yeah rather has risen again who is now at the right hand of God making intercession for us” (Romans 8:33-34).

We are both saved and safe!

And that´s the Gospel Truth!

1 TIMOTHY 1

提摩太前书1

12 I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has granted me [the needed] strength and made me able for this, because He considered me faithful and trustworthy, putting me into service [for this ministry], 13 even though I was formerly a blasphemer [of our Lord] and a persecutor [of His church] and a shamefuland outrageous and violent aggressor [toward believers]. Yet I was shown mercy because I acted out of ignorance in unbelief. 14 The grace of our Lord [His amazing, unmerited favor and blessing] flowed out in superabundance [for me, together] with the faith and love which are [realized] in Christ Jesus.

ABUNDANT FAVOR
丰富的恩典

Paul says in verse 15, that he is the chief of sinners. In several passages throughout the NT, he tells us why he was, not just here, but also in Philippians 3.
保罗在1章第15节说道,在罪人中他是个罪魁。在新约的几页经文当中,他告诉我们他为什么曾经是罪魁,不光是在第15节,也在腓立比书第3章中。
He previously abused and persecuted believers. He was the John Newton of his day, who could say 1700 years afterwards:
他此前虐待和迫害信徒。他是他那个时代的约翰 牛顿,后者在1700年后说:
Amazing grace! How sweet the sound!
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found;
Was blind, but now I see.

多么奇妙的恩典!多么甜美的声音!
拯救了像我这样不幸的人!
我曾经迷失,但是现在已被主找到;
我曾经眼瞎,但是现在得以看见主。

Like John Newton, Paul does not hide his sin from us; he states that he was a shameful and violent aggressor towards the church, but and here is the key word.. have you got it: YET!
像约翰 牛顿一样,保罗并没有在我们面前掩饰他的罪;他申明他曾是针对教会可耻及暴力的攻击者,但是这里是关键词……你已经知道了吗?尚未!

He was shown mercy. God could and should have sent Paul and the rest of us to hell.. but YET.. we have obtained mercy; mercy is God not giving us what do rightfully deserve, amen. Indeed He gave what we deserved to His Son, we deserved his wrath, but so that we could be redeemed. Jesus paid the price and took the full anger of God upon His Son.

Paul's eyes were blinded by unbelief and hatred, as he said; he had a deep zeal for God, but it was completely misplaced.
保罗的眼睛被不信和仇恨蒙蔽,正如他所说,他对上帝有深深的渴望,但是完全放错地方了。

I am in completely in awe of verse 14, grace you remember is receiving what you don't deserve. It is totally unmerited; we did not do anything to earn it, but we receive it and here's the best thing.. not just in abundance but in SUPERABUNDANCE.

Remember what Grace is from this little analogy
记住,通过类推获悉恩典Grace这个五个字母代表什么。

G... God's 上帝的
R... Riches 丰富
A... At
C... Christ's 基督
E... Expense 为代价

My favourite hymn is Amazing Grace.. probably is Paul's too.
我最喜欢的赞美诗是《奇异恩典》,也许保罗也最喜欢。

Has the superabundant grace of God touched your life?
上帝及其丰富的恩典已经触及到你的生活了吗?

God bless you
上帝祝福你!

Keith

1 TIMOTHY 1
提摩太前书1
15 This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.
15“基督耶稣降世,为要拯救罪人。”这话是可信的,是十分可佩服的。在罪人中我是个罪魁。

THE CHIEF OF SINNERS
罪人中的罪魁

Jesus came to seek and to save sinners, people like us, who had no hope. We who once were God's enemies are now his friends. Look at Paul; he was the enemy of the cross of Christ, but God turned him around. Maybe you haven't come from such a background as Paul. Maybe you grew up in church and thought that you aren't an enemy of God.. but you are! You are hopelessly separated from God and alienated from HIM. If you do not know Christ as your personal Saviour, the first step is to realise that you are the chief of sinners.
Jesus came and rescued us. He pulled us out of the miry clay and set us upon a rock: Psalm 40:1-4. It took the ultimate sacrifice of the spotless lamb of God to save your soul believer.
耶稣来拯救我们。祂把我们从淤泥里拉出来并将我们放到磐石上:诗篇第401-4。为了拯救你们信徒的灵魂,上帝的羔羊牺牲了自己的生命。
To Jesus, we are the chief sinner. If you were the only sinner in the world, then Jesus would have come to save you and die a humiliating death on the cross.
对于耶稣来说,我们是罪魁。如果你们是世界上唯一的罪人,那么耶稣将已经来拯救了你们并在十字架上耻辱地死去。
Paul knew that he was the chief of sinners, because on Jesus was laid all his sin. He took it all.. He drank the full cup of God's wrath for us.
保罗知道他是罪魁,因为耶稣把所有的罪都加在了祂身上。祂拿去了所有罪……祂为我们喝光了神忿怒的杯。
Ephesians 2:12, it says that we were without hope and without God in the world. It is because we were without hope that Jesus came into the world. He didn't come into the world to give us a good moral example or say some nice words.
以弗所书第212说我们曾经在地上没有希望,也没有上帝。正是因为我们没有失望,耶稣才会来这个世上。祂来这个世上不是为了给我们提供好的道德榜样或者说漂亮的话。
If you have never accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as you Saviour, then you need to do so today.. now is the accepted time.. now is the right time to do this. The first step is to realise that like Paul, that you are:
如果你从未接受耶稣基督作为你的救主,那么你需要今天开始……现在就是接受祂的时间……现在就是这样做的时间。第一步就是像保罗那样意识到你是:
THE CHIEF OF SINNERS
罪人中的罪魁
God bless you
上帝祝福你!

DAILY PRAYER

Lord we Thank and Praise you for all you do each day to guide, protect, provide, and answer every petition as they make their needs, wants, and the desires of their hearts known to you.

Lord please bless, keep, guide, and provide each person this message reaches. Throughout each day, bless them with perfect health, healing, and the abundant supply to fulfill all they need, want or desire.  Keep each of them safe and secure, no matter the weather, temperatures, or other circumstances that should try to cause their body, mind or our spirits to be tried and tested! Guide each of them as they pray, ask, and require. (2 Corinthians 5:18-21; Ephesians 6:10-20 ; Luke 1:1-4; Luke 18:1-8 ; Colossians 1:9-23; Romans 8:26-30)

Dear Lord in sharing the words of prayers and words of wisdom from history, I hope to encourage all my readers of these messages, to show that we are not experiencing anything that others have not, and to show that you always provide. Let the readers also reflect on the time and circumstances of these prayers and words of wisdom, so they may draw strength and insight from them.

God knows us through and through. Not the most secret thought, which we most hide from ourselves, is hidden from him.. As then we come to know ourselves through and through, we come to see ourselves more as God sees us, and then we catch some little glimpse of his designs with us, how each ordering of his providence, each check to our desires, each failure of our hopes, is just fitted for us, and for something in our own spiritual state, which others know not of, and which, till then, we knew not. Until we come to this knowledge, we must take all in faith, believing, though we know not, the goodness of God toward us.
Edward Bouberie Pusey (1800–1882)

Have a wonderfully blessed and prosperous day in the Lord today!

TODAYS DEVOTIONS

(It is not my intent to be a salesperson, just send uplifting and encouraging devotions, so all links I remove, but items that are in bold print, usually were linked, the attached PDF still has hot links or you can follow the link at the bottom to the devotion online)

I remember walking out of the state-of-the-art fertility clinic with my husband. We had come to seek a second opinion from a highly regarded infertility specialist after four years of testing, treatments, and heartache.
Our appointment with the doctor had not gone well. He was arrogant, overlooked our questions, and seemed flippant about our journey as he outlined his proposed course of treatment. We left his office feeling uneasy and confused about what our next steps should be.
As we stepped into the sunshine and walked to our car, I heard the Holy Spirit whisper, “This is not what I have for you.” My husband felt the exact same pull on his heart.
At the time, we thought perhaps the Lord did not like this particular doctor or his chosen methods for helping us, but as the days went by, we both had a stronger sense that God was actually calling us away from infertility treatments as a whole.
The more I prayed about it, the more I sensed God was asking us to lay our efforts aside. It was time to put away the medication, stop the doctor appointments, cease striving and join Him on the long, hard road of childlessness.
At first, every fiber in my being resisted. I begged God to give us something else to pursue — a different doctor, adoption, natural remedies for healing my body. Over and over, I heard God say, “That is not what I have for you. Come join me on this road through the wilderness.”
To many people, I’m sure it looked like we had just given up and thrown in the towel on our plans to start a family. The truth is, we were (and still are) obediently following God on this hard road that He has called us to. It may not make sense to the world around us, and it occasionally does not make sense to me either, but I know we are doing what He has asked of us and Jesus has sustained us every step of the way.
God often calls us to difficult things. In Matthew 7:14, Jesus said, “For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.” Did you notice where the hard way leads? It leads to life.
Our difficult calling has a destination. God does not ask us to wander the wilderness aimlessly. Our roads are going somewhere glorious — into the heart of God Himself.
The Greek word used for life is zōē, and it holds a sense of vitality, fullness, animation, and devotion to God. It is the absolute fullness of life with God. This is the same word that Jesus uses in John 10:10 when He speaks about the abundant life. These hard roads are highly profitable if we are willing to stay on them.
Jesus was no stranger to walking difficult roads — His entire ministry was fraught with hardship, and the final days of His life were especially lonely and painful.
From the Garden of Gethsemane to standing trial, being beaten and tortured, and then dying on a cross, Jesus stayed true to the call God had given Him. Jesus had plenty of opportunities to step off His hard road. He could have summoned legions of angels. He could have taken Himself down off the cross. He could have avoided the whole ordeal altogether, but He chose to remain “obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross” (Philippians 2:8).
So how exactly do we stay on our hard roads? What kept Jesus on the course that the Father had called him to? 1 Peter 2:23 gives us the answer to that question, “When he was reviled, he did not revile in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten, but continued entrusting himself to him who judges justly.”
Jesus continually entrusted Himself to God. Over and over, He trusted in the love of his Father and in the eternally redemptive outcome of His plan, and we are invited to do the same.
God desires that we might entrust ourselves daily to Him. We do this simply by walking with Him in prayer, reading His Word, and trusting in His good and loving heart. We can stay the course by following Christ’s example.
Friends, I don’t know what hard road God has called you to right now. Maybe it’s singleness or enduring an invisible illness, maybe it’s working in a job you dislike or living with family members who test your patience every day.
Hard roads are hard. The easy way out is tempting, but if God has called you to walk on a difficult path, He will sustain you on it. So fix your eyes on Jesus, entrust yourself to God, and keep putting one foot in front of another as you journey toward the life in God that awaits you.

The Wednesday Word

Law and Gospel Grace.

D.G. Miles McKee

“Moreover, the Law entered, that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded grace did much more abound” (Romans 5:20).

“Many there are who think that the Law is the Gospel and who teach that men by good works of benevolence, honesty, righteousness and sobriety, may be saved. Such men do err. On the other hand, many teach that the Gospel is a Law–that it has certain commands in it by obedience to which men are meritoriously saved. Such men err from the Truth and understand it not.”
C.H. Spurgeon: Law and Grace

“Run, John, run, the law commands
But gives us neither feet nor hands,
Far better news the gospel brings:
It bids us fly and gives us wings.”
John Bunyan (1628-1688)

What a contrast there is between living under the Law and living in Gospel Grace. It can be best illustrated by the final words of the two covenants. The Old Testament ends with this somber and sober warning, “Lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.” The New Testament, on the other hand, ends with the heartwarming statement, “The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all, Amen.”

What a blessing! What a contrast!

The Law tells us what we should do but Gospel Grace tells what God has done.
The Law says, “This do, and you shall live” but Gospel Grace says, “Live, and you shall do.”
The Law says, “Pay me what you owe” but Gospel Grace says, “I freely forgive you every debt.”
The Law says, “The wages of sin is death.” But Gospel Grace replies, “The gift of God is eternal life” (Romans 6:23).
The Law is God's word of demand, but Gospel Grace is God's word of deliverance.
The Law insists that we must love the Lord with all our heart, mind and strength” (Deuteronomy 6:5; Mark 12:30).  Gospel Grace takes us away from the guilt of our inability saying, “Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us and gave his Son as the propitiation for our sins (1 John 4:10).

What a contrast!

Under the Law, when they made the burnt offering, the fire consumed the offering (see Leviticus 2:1-16; 6:14-23)..  In the Gospel, however, it is not the fire that consumes the offering, but the offering who consumes the fire. Under the Law, when they made the burnt offering, the fire consumed the sacrifice and the sacrifice was gone never to be seen again. But in the gospel, the sacrifice rose from the dead having endured our judgment.

All claims and charges made against us have been answered in righteousness. They have been settled by Christ on the cross. He destroyed the fire of Judgment!

In addition, when the Law was given, three thousand people mercilessly died because of their rebellion (Exodus 32:28). When the gospel was proclaimed at Pentecost, three thousand people received eternal life (Acts 2:41).

 What a difference grace makes!

“The law supposing I have all,
Does ever for perfection call;
The gospel suits my total want,
And all the law can seek does grant.

The law could promise life to me,
If my obedience perfect be;
But grace does promise life upon
My Lord's obedience alone.

The law says, Do, and life you'll win;
But grace says, Live, for all is done;
The former cannot ease my grief,
The latter yields me full relief.

Lo! in the law Jehovah dwells,
But Jesus is concealed;
Whereas the gospel's nothing else
But Jesus Christ revealed.”

Ralph Erskine; 1560-1645

In Summary,

The Law says Do, Gospel Grace says Done.
The Law commands, but Gospel Grace Promises.
The Law kills, but Gospel Grace gives Life.
The Law condemns, but Gospel Grace Justifies.

And that’s the Gospel Truth!

From:  Mary Padgett Ministries, Inc.
A Word In Due Season

AFFLICTION INSTEAD OF PLEASURE

Scripture:  Hebrews 11:25  "Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasure of sin for a season"

This scripture speaks of Moses and the choice that he made for his own life.  When Moses was born, his mother hid him for three months from Pharaoh and when he was too big to hide, she put him in a basket and placed the basket on the river.  His mother was trying to hide him because Pharaoh had commanded that all of the male Hebrew children be put to death.  Yet, God had a very special plan for Moses and it was not death.  God’s sovereignty caused Pharaoh's daughter to find Moses and when she saw the baby Moses, she had compassion upon him.  She drew him out of the water and brought him into Pharaoh's palace and raised him there as her own son until he was grown.

When Moses was old enough to make his own choices in life, he did something that probably confused a lot of people.  He refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter.  He may have loved her as a mother but the call of God on His life was a stronger commitment.  He chose to sacrifice his place of honor amongst the people in Pharaoh's court and he walked away from the wealth and pleasures that could have been his.  Verse twenty-four says that he made this choice by faith.  He left the easy life and walked into the darkness and hardships of the unknown.  He willingly put aside his comfortable life and the luxuries that he was accustomed to.  He forgot his fame amongst Pharaoh's servants and went to live on the backside of the desert where no one knew him.  He chose to live in a tent rather than in Pharaoh's beautiful palace.  He tended his father-in-law's flock in the field instead of being in charge of more important duties or commanding a host of men.  Moses stayed in this humble position for forty years.

It was in this setting that God spoke to Moses from a burning bush and commissioned him to bring the Israelites out of the bondage of Egypt and into the Promised Land.  God planned to use Moses long before he was ever born and God ordered his steps and protected him from all harm.  When Moses refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter, he probably never dreamed of the fame that he would receive or that people would still be talking about him almost 4000 years later.  Yet, he chose the path that God had ordained for him.  His choice not only affected him but also a multitude of people, for his personal sacrifice brought millions of people into blessings and freedom.

Our lives are full of choices.  Some of them are easy because they promise joy and happiness, but others are difficult.  They call for true commitment and sacrifice without speaking of reward.  It may not be on the same scale as Moses' sacrifice because none of us will have to give up our palace, our easy life, or our multitude of servants.  Our sacrifice may be to simply share our meager means with someone who has less, go the extra mile when we are weary, or allow others to take the best of the lot.  Yet, the choice still demands something from us and like Moses' decision, it will take faith on our part.  We must remember that God never asks for anything that He does not intend to repay.  We will never know the rewards of what could have been unless we make the right choice.  To experienced God's best, we must be willing to choose the affliction instead of the pleasures of sin that last for only a short season. +++

Guard Against Temptation

Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.
Matthew 4:1

A holy character does not prevent temptation--Jesus was tempted. When Satan tempts us, his sparks fall upon tinder; but in Christ's case, it was like striking sparks on water; yet the enemy continued his evil work. Now, if the devil goes on striking when there is no result, how much more will he do it when he knows what inflammable stuff our hearts are made of. Though you become greatly sanctified by the Holy Spirit, expect that the great dog of hell will bark at you still. In the haunts of men we expect to be tempted, but even seclusion will not guard us from the same trial.
Jesus Christ was led away from human society into the wilderness and was tempted by the devil. Solitude has its charms and its benefits and may be useful in checking the lust of the eye and the pride of life; but the devil will follow us into the most lovely retreats. Do not suppose that it is only the worldly-minded who have dreadful thoughts and blasphemous temptations, for even spiritually minded persons endure the same; and in the holiest position we may suffer the darkest temptation.
The utmost consecration of spirit will not insure you against satanic temptation. Christ was consecrated through and through. It was His meat and drink to do the will of Him that sent Him--and yet He was tempted! Your hearts may glow with an angelic flame of love for Jesus, and yet the devil will try to bring you down to lukewarm uselessness. If you will tell me when God permits a Christian to lay aside his armor, I will tell you when Satan has left off temptation.
Like the old knights in wartime, we must sleep with helmet and breastplate buckled on, for the arch-deceiver will seize our first unguarded moment to make us his prey. May the Lord keep us watchful in all seasons and grant us a final escape from the jaw of the lion and the paw of the bear.

My Manna

"Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from him.Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken." Psalm 62:1-2.

As the world continues to stress over the importance of achieving more, doing more, and being more-
- we may find ourselves trapped in a never-ending cycle of activity.

Our days regularly fly by in a giant blur of meals, appointments, and mundane tasks.

On their own, these responsibilities often seem small.

However, when they are all strung together day after day-
- they can create stress and lead to serious burnout!

Then we must take three steps of action.

First-
Rest!

It is imperative that we find the time to be still before the Lord and to rest in Him.
In Mark 6:31, Jesus told His disciples, “Come away by yourselves to a secluded place and rest a while.”

Resting in God renews our souls and quiets our racing minds, enabling us to partake of His strength.

Second-
Trust!

We should frequently ask ourselves-
Are the activities in my life all necessary and chosen by the Lord?

In His Word, God gives us this instruction:
“Cease striving and know that I am God.” Ps. 46:10.

Essentially, our Father wants us to slow down and realize that our lives are in His hands.
With this assurance, we can replace striving with resting and trusting.

No matter what we do in life, it should be done to the glory of God.

Third-
Invest!

Invest your time in the best.
Make time today for a quiet moment to sit before the Lord.

Allow Him to provide the strength and rest you need.
While doing this, ask Him to reveal to you any areas of your life in which you are “striving” needlessly.

He longs to provide peace and rest for His children.

Not the most secret thought, which we most hide from ourselves, is hidden from him.

This week, we will take a look into the power God gives us to fight our battles. Everyone responds differently to daily stresses, life changes and difficult times. This week, let’s think through how we respond. Do we internalize it? Do we verbally process it? Do we face it head on? Or, do we pretend it’s not even there? Whatever the case may be, God gives us two very powerful tools: His Word and prayer. So, next time we’re facing a situation that seems more than what we can handle, let’s remember that He is our strong tower—He will protect us. Let’s sit still, breathe in His Word, pray, listen for what our hearts really need to know and follow His lead.
Let’s pray for the week ahead:
Father, thank you for Your Word that is sharper than any two-edged sword. I pray that You work within me this week as I learn to turn to You during the ups and downs of my life. Thank you for being my Protector. Amen.
Scripture to focus on this week:
Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.

Do we then overthrow the law by this faith? By no means! On the contrary, we uphold the law.
Romans 3:31
When the believer is adopted into the Lord's family, his relationship to old Adam and the law ceases at once; but then he is under a new rule and a new covenant. Believer, you are God's child; it is your first duty to obey your heavenly Father.
A servile spirit you have nothing to do with: You are not a slave but a child. And now, inasmuch as you are a beloved child, you are bound to obey your Father's faintest wish, the least intimation of His will. Does He bid you fulfill a sacred ordinance? It is at your peril that you neglect it, for you will be disobeying your Father.
Does He command you to seek the image of Jesus? Is it not your joy to do so? Does Jesus tell you, "You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect"?1 Then not because the law commands, but because your Savior enjoins, you will labor to be perfect in holiness. Does He bid his saints to love one another? Do it, not because the law says, "Love your neighbor," but because Jesus says, "If you love me, you will keep my commandments."2
And this is the commandment that He has given unto you, "that you love one another." Are you told to distribute to the poor? Do it, not because charity is a burden that you dare not shirk, but because Jesus teaches, "Give to him that asks of you." Does the Word say, "Love God with all your heart"? Look at the commandment and reply, "Ah, commandment, Christ has fulfilled you already. I have no need, therefore, to fulfill you for my salvation, but I rejoice to yield obedience to you because God is my Father now, and He has a claim upon me, which I would not dispute."
May the Holy Ghost make your heart obedient to the constraining power of Christ's love, that your prayer may be, "I will run in the way of your commandments when you enlarge my heart!"3 Grace is the mother and nurse of holiness, and not the apologist of sin.
1) Matthew 5:48
2) John 14:15
3) Psalm 119:32

The Wednesday Word

Sin Put Away

                                                  D.G. Miles McKee
“Now once in the end of the world has He appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself” (Hebrews 9:26).

What does it mean to put away sin? We can learn much about this from the Feast of Unleavened Bread when the Israelites were commanded to put away all leaven out of their houses (Exodus 12:15;19). Leaven is usually a picture of sin and this ‘putting away’ was a thorough job. The cupboards and drawers were emptied and their floors were very carefully swept in case a crumb of leaven bread should remain (see also Exodus 13:3-16; Leviticus 23:6-8; Deuteronomy 16:8; John 6:51).

In the New Testament, sin, not leaven, was put away by Jesus. He, as it were, cleaned house.  If it had been left to us to clean our houses, we would have missed some of our hidden sins.  We don’t realise how great a mountain of sin and lurking darkness we accumulated during our lifetime.

Question: How did Jesus put away sin?
Answer: “He appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself” Hebrews 9:26.

Spurgeon says, “All your sins—every size, shape, form, hue, degree, or fashion, are altogether gone! Crimson sins, black sins, crying sins, every sort of iniquity from your childhood until now, and right on till you enter into the rest of the Beloved; they were all taken and laid upon Christ. He made an end of them all when He offered up His great sacrifice; He has put away sin as a whole for His chosen; this is a glorious truth! “
C.H. Spurgeon: Metropolitan Tabernacle Pulpit: Volume 16 The Putting Away Of Sin: Sermon No. 911

If our sins have been put away, why do we think we can be saved and then lost? Can Jesus lose us? If He can, then Jesus didn’t put all our sins away.  If we think we can be saved and lost, far be it from us to sing “Unto Him who loved us, and washed us from our sins in His own blood, and has made us kings and priests unto God and His Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever” (Revelation 1:5-6).

Notice the words, “forever and ever!” If Christ can lose us, we need to take that passage out of the Bible.

To ‘put away’ means literally a disannulling, a total abolition and an annihilation of sins.  Christ has done away with the sins of His people! “The iniquities of Israel,” He says, “shall be sought for, and there shall be none; and the sins of Judah, and they shall not be found” (Jerimiah 50:20). To fear that we as believers could eventually perish is to look at Jesus with a heart of doubt.  May we learn to endorse the words of Augustus Toplady who wrote,

"Complete atonement Thou hast made
And to the utmost farthing paid
Whate'er Thy people owed.
How then can wrath on me take place,
If sheltered in Thy righteousness
And sprinkled with Thy blood?"

May each of us know that Jesus Christ has put away our sin - all of it. We are now accepted as though we are fully righteous.

Do you mean we are innocent?

No! Much more than innocent. He has clothed us in His righteousness.  And, listen to this, “The gifts and calling of God are without repentance” (Romans 11:29).. The eternal God never says then unsays, never does then undoes, never gives then un-gives.  If we have been declared not guilty, then we are indeed not guilty, and no one can ever condemn us (see Psalm 103:12).

This is wonderful! Dear believer, we can never go down into the pit of hell; God can never be so angry with us as to utterly forsake us! We are both saved and safe!

And that’s the Gospel Truth!

KEITH NOTES FROM NANJING - Page 5 Empty Re: KEITH NOTES FROM NANJING

Coffee Break

"Acquainted With Suffering And Victory"

"He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not".  Isaiah 53:3

While the cross was the place where the payment for our sins was made, there was much more happening at the crucifixion.  It was there where we see how acquainted with what we face that Jesus was.

He knows exactly where you are, how you feel and what you are going through. He knows what it is like to agonize over the will of God-- if it be possible let this cup pass from me.  He knows what it is like to be falsely accused.  He knows what it is like to be betrayed by someone you are close to-- betrayed with a kiss.  He knows what it is like to walk the long rode of suffering.  He knows what it is like to be abandoned by those whom you love.  He knows what it is like to be mocked, ridiculed, beaten, cursed, made fun of, bullied and blasphemed.  He faced it all.  No one else may know what you are going through, but He does-- He's been there and done that.

But He also knows what it is like to be victorious.  The empty tomb showed us that.  He was victorious over all the things we have named.  Yes, He went through them, but He came out on the other side victorious.  Yes, He suffered, but He was still victorious.  Through the crucifixion and the resurrection we see suffering and victory.

When we look at our lives, sometimes we only see the suffering-- the cross we are bearing.  But keep in mind, through the suffering, that there is also victory-- an empty tomb.  Jesus suffered for us.  He took our sins, bore our shame and guilt, suffered and bleed for us on the cross.  But He also rose from the dead victoriously for us.  So that sin could not destroy us, condemnation could not defeat us and death could not overcome us.  He turned His victory over to us so now, though these things "touch" us, we can still walk through them victoriously.

Have a great day.  There may be a cross in your life but there is also an empty tomb.

The Truth of Easter

Now after the Sabbath, as the first day of the week began to dawn, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb. And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat on it.. His countenance was like lightning, and his clothing as white as snow. And the guards shook for fear of him, and became like dead men.

But the angel answered and said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. And go quickly and tell His disciples that He is risen from the dead, and indeed He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him. Behold, I have told you.” So they went out quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to bring His disciples word.

And as they went to tell His disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, “Rejoice!” So they came and held Him by the feet and worshiped Him. Then Jesus said to them,“Do not be afraid. Go and tell My brethren to go to Galilee, and there they will see Me.” – Matthew 28:1-10 NKJV.

Since September 2001, things have changed as to how many of us live our lives. We are more careful, more cautious aware of our surroundings when we leave our homes. Even in flyover country in United States where I live we know terrorist attacks from one group or another are possible. Many either carry a weapon or have one nearby. If you plan to fly, arrival at the airport a few hours early is now prudent. Also, we now know from Brussels that even walking into an airport exposes you to the risk of a terrorist attack.

Things have not changed for the better in the years since the towers came down. Terrorists have become bolder in their senseless horrific acts against the innocent. One of those innocents is a 19-year-old American citizen who had close brushes with death at the Boston Bombing, the Paris Massacre, and now at the Brussels attack where he received some non-life threatening injuries. If this young man could post his future itinerary we might all know where not to be…. Why some are spared and some die in these attacks is something that only God knows for sure. But make no mistake; God is not responsible for these evil acts perpetrated upon the innocent. This evil flows from Satan, the god of this age (2 Corinthians 4:4), into the lives of the demonically blinded and deceived.

The world this Easter is different from the Easter we celebrated prior to 2001. The world may have changed in 2001, but the meaning of Easter is still the same. The events of that Resurrection Day almost 2000 years ago speak to us this truth: Jesus Christ is the Lord of Lords, and the King of kings (1 Timothy 6:15)! He is the same“yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8)!” That first Resurrection Day gives us hope that evil has been defeated even though the battle still rages. There will come a day when every knee shall bow at the Name of Jesus (Philippians 2:10). There will come a day when evil will be no more upon this earth and we will live in peace(Revelation 21). The Truth of Easter is that the pain and suffering of this present world is a temporary condition for all those who place their faith in Jesus Christ.

KEITH NOTES FROM NANJING - Page 5 Empty Re: KEITH NOTES FROM NANJING

Post  Admin on Mon 06 Apr 2020, 10:34 pm

In my lifetime, I have never seen anything like it:  A Global Pandemic.  Nations crippled by disease. Thousands dying everyday.  It has many people asking the question,  "what is happening"?

I am going to share some things I believe the Lord wants us to focus on, all of these things start with the letter “R."

REMEMBER

All we hear is COVID-19, but our GOD is greater than any virus.  Unfortunately, we hear so little about Him in times like these.  Sure all these viruses come from the result of the fall, but God is allowing this.  Let us remember that God has a reason for everything that happens in our lives. Remember Job, he couldn't understand what was happening, because it was outside of his comprehension. So with this virus, let's remember that God is sovereign and He is in control.

REJOICE

GOD inhabits the praises of his people, so when the rest of the world are downcast, it's an opportunity for the church and believers to be joyful!  We should be an example of joy and light in this crisis.  Yes, this situation is bad, but the church should be saying JOY TO THE WORLD,  we should be the ones have have a joyful manner and joyful attitude.

REPENT

Why is this happening to the world? The easy answer is that God is giving the world and especially the church a chance to repent, there is a real shaking going on here. We need to examine everything in our own lives and ask searching questions about everything we do and say.

We need to examine ourselves in the light of Psalms 51 and 32, what does 2 Chronicles 7:14-17 say? It does not say to have another Bible conference, it tells us to turn from our sin and repent. People will say that God is shaking the world, but he always shakes the church before he shakes the world, judgement always starts at the house of God. Now is the time for every Christian and the Church to examine themselves and seek forgiveness.  2 Corinthians 13:5

READ

When the virus hit China, we spent lots of time in the Word, now you have the opportunity to study God's Word in detail. You may not have this time again, so use it to feed your mind and life, by digging deep into his precious Word.  It's time to dust off your Bible and study it like never before.

Please pray for the world

For too long, Christians have gorged themselves on sports and other idols, now it's time to feast on what truly matters, the Word of God

RESTORE/REBUILD

Nehemiah was a great man of God, the temple was built, but the walls were broken down, he set out to rebuild the walls, an incredible task, you might think, but because of the co-operation of his fellow workers, it was completed in just over 50 days. We think that the walls that are broken down in our country or community are beyond repair, that the walls can't be restored and ground that has been lost can't be regained.  We can rebuild and restore the walls of our country and community, and yes, we can also rebuild and restore the walls of our lives, our families and our church.  How do I know this?  Because we have the answer...his name is JESUS.  We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us (Phil. 4:13)

Take time to get together online by using Zoom and other social media to have online prayer meetings for members of your church.  We know that this virtual fellowship is not easy; we haven't been able to have church since January, but we still pray together. Life may never be the same, but we can change the world by turning to Christ and becoming closer to Him in prayer and seeking his face.

RELATIONSHIP

Although we don't have church meetings so to speak, we can take this opportunity to focus on our relationship with God.  In fact, we should focus on God at all times, and not just in moments of crisis. We should share Christ with people that we don't usually share with. Also we need to confess our faults to one another, so that God can heal those broken relationships in our lives.   If this crisis has proved anything, it is that life is so fragile, and we need to make up with people who we have hurt.

We need to renew our family relationships especially with our spouses, our children, and our families.  Healing the wounds in our family relationships  should be one of our main priorities.  We can start with rebuilding the family altar.  What an opportunity to teach your children the Word of God, get them round the Bible and teach them that God is sovereign. That God is holy.  That God is love.  It’s a time to do what Elijah did, and rebuild God's altar in our homes, and in our personal lives.

RELEASE

What is to be released? THE TRUTH OF THE GOSPEL.

More than ever, people need an answer to life. Now is a unique opportunity to share the Love of God and that the only answer is Jesus. People's hearts are softer than normal, they have all kinds of questions.

So how can you do it, most of us are nervous about giving our testimonies personally to people, but you can share it on facebook or on other social media.

Open a chat room and invite your non-Christian friends to hear the Word of God or to hear peaceful Christian music

You can probably think of many more things you can do, you can be a good Samaritan to people in your community, showing the love of Christ to needy people.

THE REASON FOR ALL THIS

This week is HOLY WEEK, it leads up to Calvary and the Resurrection.

Why should we do all these things, because Jesus did all this and much more for us, he gave freely for us, he gave everything for us. He gave his life totally and completely for us. He did not hold back, his total commitment was focused on the redemption of his people.

Isn't that reason enough to serve Him, let's repent from our sin and rejoice in our salvation, so that we can rebuild the walls that are broken down, by doing this, we reveal Jesus to the world.

ISN'T HE WORTH IT?

THE ANSWER IS

HE IS WORTHY

God bless you

Amen

God knows us through and through. Not the most secret thought, which we most hide from ourselves, is hidden from him.

Where Does Your Hope Come From?
by Anna

Our relationships.
A new house.
Becoming financially stable.
Elected officials or political parties.
There are so many things we can put our hope in. It’s so tempting to think that whenever that situation is smoothed out, or that promise is fulfilled, or that event has passed… only then, at that time, will everything be ok. But the reality is that having hope in anything besides Jesus holds the chance of letting us down. The paycheck may not stretch far enough. We may become disenchanted with the relationship. The elected officials may disappoint. And the things of this world will rust, tarnish, fizzle and fade.
When we put all of our eggs in the basket of the world, one by one they will break. And by “eggs,” I mean hopes and that which you hold dear. I mean:
» Your heart.
» Your big, huge, God-sized dreams.
» Your family and future.
» Your career.
» Even your finances and possessions.
Each one of these is fragile, easily crushed, and in need of tender care. Maybe it’s easier to hope for fulfillment via the people and things of the world because they’re tangible, visible, promising happiness and satisfaction.
But the love of our Lord? That is forever strong, never disappointing, always present, and eternally faithful. He is an ever-present fortress in our need, and we can place our hope in Him. Just see what He promises us and is able to deliver because of who He is:
Romans 8:24 (CSB): Now in this hope we were saved, but hope that is seen is not hope, because who hopes for what he sees?
When we trust in Him, we can have hope for the really big dreams, the huge goals and seemingly unattainable happy endings. All that which we don’t currently or already have, we can hope for because ‘hope that is seen is not hope.’
1 Corinthians 13:13 (CSB): Now these three remain: faith, hope, and love—but the greatest of these is love.
In unswerving hope, He will direct us on a straight path with sure footing. We can trust Him to come through. Though it may be difficult at first, once we’ve established that trust, placing our deep hope in Him will become easier and more instinctive.
Colossians 1:3-6 (CSB): We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you, for we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love you have for all the saints because of the hope reserved for you in heaven. You have already heard about this hope in the word of truth, the gospel that has come to you. It is bearing fruit and growing all over the world, just as it has among you since the day you heard it and came to truly appreciate God’s grace.
The hope of heaven. Is there anything sweeter?? And the love and faith that only deepen as we hope in Him – these are beautiful, holy, character and countenance builders.
Those fragile pieces of our life and heart need holy protection and care – the kind that can only come from the Lord. And friend – we can trust Him with each and every hope we have.
May we go forth and share this good news with our friends and family! Because, every once in awhile, we all need to be reminded of where our true source of strength, hope and comfort lies. And, ‘may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you believe so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.’ Romans 15:13 (CSB)
Why not send a message of hope to a friend or loved one today? Send them a quick, hope-filled ECard or reach out to them with a quick phone call or text. It could be just the reminder they need.

Gary Wilkerson
March 23, 2020

A scene in Mark’s gospel addresses the types of excruciating situations that can confront our faith. When sudden calamity befalls us, we may experience feelings of hopelessness and despondency.

Jairus, a devoted, God-fearing man and leader of the local synagogue, faced a crisis. His young daughter was sick to the point of death and when he learned that Jesus the healer was nearby, he decided, “I’ll put my faith in him.” Running to the Messiah, he fell at his feet and implored him fervently, “My little daughter is at the point of death. Come and lay your hands on her, so that she may be made well and live” (Mark 5:23).

Jairus was begging for a miracle: “Lord, unless you do this, I have no hope. Doctors can’t help but I know you can make a miracle happen!” The phrase Jairus uses in the verse above — “that she may be made well and live” — denotes his faith in Christ’s ability. He believed the Lord for the impossible, declaring, “Jesus, you can.” He knew that if Christ would just touch his daughter, she would be healed.

What happens next reveals another level of faith: “And [Jesus] went with [Jairus]. And a great crowd followed him and thronged about him. And there was a woman who had had a discharge of blood for twelve years, and who had suffered much under many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was no better but rather grew worse” (Mark 5:24-26).

Here we encounter another person in a desperate situation. This woman had gone from doctor to doctor and exhausted her resources searching for a cure and her condition had only deteriorated. But when she heard that Jesus was nearby, hope sprang up in her heart and that mustard seed of faith in her heart grew. She thought, “If I touch even his garments, I will be made well” (Mark 5:28).

This woman’s faith was so strong that she was convinced the goodness of God was going to perform a miracle in her body. It was rock-solid, concrete faith — the kind that believes God for miracles based on his goodness.

Do you still believe Jesus can? Do you believe he will? No matter what your trial, no matter how far beyond hope it seems, he is ready to intervene. Ask him to breathe faith into you today.

This is a unique opportunity to pray for these people, it's a once in a lifetime chance, please take it and please listen to sermons at the bottom

E in China

https://joshuaproject.net/people_groups/11672/CH

Population 41,500

Christians: None Known

These people believe in the spirit world and worship their ancestors, they have no knowledge of the Saviour. How the words of Romans chapter 10, should resonate in our ears, you can't go to them, but you can pray for them. Doing nothing means you are sending them to hell without a single prayer.

They have no resources in their dialect/language, they are truly without hope. But the fields are white for harvest, please pray that God would touch people to GO to them.

They live in Guangxi province, this province needs a mighty move of God. Please pray God would move on the churches in revival power.

The Wednesday Word

The Poisonous Fog of False Doctrine
D.G. Miles McKee

Is there a difference between regeneration and justification? If we live in the poisonous fog of false doctrine we will answer…NO!

Some folks view regeneration (being born again) as being the basis and ground for approval before God…. But this cannot possibly be so. True, the Holy Spirit regenerates us, sets us apart and gives us faith.  But this is not basis of our acceptance before God.  This is not the gospel. The gospel is objective.  It happened outside of us, in history.  It is finished!

Much popular preaching, nevertheless, tells us that the gospel is about God changing the heart of the sinner This theory, however, is but a regurgitation of medieval Roman Catholic teaching on salvation. It´s alarming that our condition and state should once again be the overwhelming preoccupation of much of our thinking today!

The great truth of justification by faith, however, does not deal with the acts of God within the believer, but rather with the saving acts of God outside of us.

The first truth that must grasp us is the ground of our acceptance with God is sheer, unmerited grace. We weren´t involved!  Acceptance is all of GRACE!

We were, “justified freely by His grace” Romans 3:24.

The Greek word here translated freely literally means without a cause. So far from grace being a quality within us, the apostle declares that "grace. . . was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began" (2 Timothy 1:9).

Grace is a quality in God's heart.
Grace is His disposition to be kind and merciful to those who are lost.
Grace demonstrates His love for the undeserving.
Grace means that God accepts those who are unacceptable.

However, God is not only gracious, He is also just.  God must have just grounds to forgive and accept us as righteous. And here´s the good news, those grounds of acceptance are entirely outside of us (again, see Romans 3:24). Christ's sinless life and atoning death are the sole grounds of God's being able to judge us and treat us as righteous.

The gospel proclaims that His people are saved by His objective, completed acts in history two thousand years ago. We rest on these facts for salvation. This is authentic Bible Christianity. All other religions are in the poisonous fog.  They teach that salvation is found in some process within the worshiper, and consequently the worshiper's supreme preoccupation is with his own experience. What bondage! Christianity alone proclaims a salvation which is found in a finished event outside of the believer.

The basis of our salvation is not a subjective process. No amount of inward holiness can bridge the gulf that sin has made. No amount of list keeping can put us into right relationship with God. Acceptance with God cannot rest on an internal process of supposedly being made holy. Perfection is not something that God requires at the end of the journey. He demands perfection and absolute holiness before the journey begins. And this perfection and absolute holiness is found in Christ alone…not in ourselves!

Two thousand years ago there was an objective, concrete, historical event. God Himself broke into human history in the person of Jesus the Christ. He became our representative. He became so identified with us that all which He did was not only for us but was the same as if we had done it. He defeated sin, the devil and death and destroyed their power. He lived as our substitute as He fulfilled the claims of God's requirements. Because He is  our substitute, the life He lived is credited to us. When He took the punishment for sin, justice saw us punished in Him.

As Spurgeon said, ¨We stand before God as if we were Christ because Christ stood before God as if he were us.¨

And that´s the Gospel Truth!

KEITH NOTES FROM NANJING - Page 5 Empty Re: KEITH NOTES FROM NANJING

Not the most secret thought, which we most hide from ourselves, is hidden from him.

Our friendship didn’t begin under normal circumstances.
It was a Sunday, and one of my prayer team members came to me after church and said a woman she prayed with was in danger of taking her own life. As the leader, I was responsible to follow up and ensure her safety. Thankfully, we found her still in the church, and one of our female pastors and I sat down with her, listened to her story, and prayed with her.
She had no one to call so she agreed to let me follow her to the hospital. I’m ashamed to admit it, but I was hesitant to get involved. First, it was poor timing because my son was home from college and leaving the next day. Dinner was waiting in the crock pot. But aside from wrecking my “plans” for the night, I also didn’t necessarily want to get involved in this “messy” situation.
But God doesn’t only ask us to do the easy things in life; He asks for our unconditional obedience. I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that He wanted me to walk alongside that woman. I wrote a whole book about loving people in their trials, so I went.
Sadly, that wasn’t the first time my new friend had been in that situation. I had never even heard the term, “S.I.” (suicidal intent) before that day, but she enlightened me as we waited in the ER for the intake. She explained how she would be escorted behind the double doors to the awaiting restraints, where they’d take her phone, medications, purse, and cut off her contact with the outside world.
She grew more anxious by the minute. I knew my role was to bring hope, truth, and a few practical strategies to help her get through the night ahead, so we chose a verse that she could recite all through the night to occupy her mind. And I prayed this over her, “God sees you in your pain, and He will be your glory, your shield, and the lifter of your head.”
Before I knew it, they were ready to take her to the behavioral watch unit. I hugged her goodbye, and she promised she would contact me as soon as she was allowed.
I received a text from her the next morning that said, As expected, I was kept locked up until morning with no medication. I repeated the Psalms verse over and over until my panic decreased, and I was able to sleep for a good portion of the night — something that has never happened before. I am here today because of God’s grace . . . ”
Shortly before Christmas, I learned she was back in the ER. Again, I was torn between my to-do list and obedience. After much consternation, I decided to head to the hospital and bring her a copy of my new book, Hope in the Hard Places, because I had just received my early author copies in the mail. Admittedly, that’s why I wrote the book — to help people in just this situation — but you don’t always know how it will be received or if it will really “work.”
Nothing could have prepared me for the text she sent me weeks later,
For years, everyone has told me, “There is hope. Look for hope. You will find hope. Hope is always there. Hope is never lost. Hope is the answer. Hope, hope, hope.” Every time, I just smiled and said, “Yes, ok,” but inside I was exploding, “How can I find hope in such an impossible situation? Don’t they see how hard it is? Hope does not exist for me!”
When you visited me in the hospital and brought me the book, at first I only saw the word hope and had the same reaction. But I started reading it as soon as I got home. I read one chapter daily and used it as a guide to hold onto each day.
I will never forget the words you wrote: “God is with you in the middle of the darkness.” I couldn’t believe He was truly there even as I was trying to kill myself, so it kept me going. I looked up every Bible verse and Bible connection you made, and it became a guide to HOPE. Yes, the one word I was running from because it did not exist for me now started to have meaning again!
This book changed me, my relationship with God, and my understanding of what hope is. I still struggle every day, have some horrible nights, go through intolerable panic and anxiety attacks, painful flashbacks and nightmares, but I have no doubt God used you in my life to remind me about His promise and the hope there is in Him.”
Friends, no matter how hard your situation seems, I want you to know God is the author of life, and He cares for yours more than you know. Press on in hope.
Take it from my new friend: God is with you in the middle of the darkness, and there is hope in Him.
He sees you.
He will sustain you.
He is a shield around you.
And He is the lifter of your head.

God sees you in your pain, and He will be your glory, your shield, and the lifter of your head.

Thanks Be To God

Northern Ireland has a lot to thank God for.  First of all, thank God for my dear friends Dr Kenny, Wendy and Abby Mcclinton, who serve God in NI.

First of all there is now peace after years of conflict, and secondly the Church in NI is stronger than the Church on the mainland. There are many Evangelical Churches in the province.

Prayer needs

Please pray
for a deep move of the spirit, Church attendance is in decline. Please pray that the Church would be salt, and light in the province.

Please pray for the Church leaders, that they would continue to preach the gospel in power. There have been several high profile cases, where Christian preachers have been taken to court for speaking the truth.

Please pray
for the major cities of Belfast and Londonderry.

ISLANDS OF UK

Isle of Man

Isle of Man - situated between UK and NI. Please pray for this small island esp. during the motor cycle racing season, that takes place on the island every summer.

Isle of Wight

Isle of Wight - Situated off the south coast of England. This is a sleepy place, where many retire, and is an island full of wealthy people.  Please pray that the Christians would challenge, and change the island.

Channel Islands

Jersey, Guernsey and Sark (the Channel Islands)- situated off coast of France.  Please pray for an awakening in all three islands, that the Church would grow and reach out in power.

Isles of Scilly

Isles of Scilly-  Situated off the coast of Cornwall.. This is an island paradise.. but is sleepy spiritually. Please pray for Revival.

Please continue to pray

Thank You,

Keith

Welcome to the home of the bagpipes and kilts

I am originally from Scotland.. indeed my surname Hobkirk.. means the church on the hill.. hob being a small hill and Kirk a church.. so you see, and my ancestors come from the border area, indeed there is a village called Hobkirk....HTTPS://en.Wikipedia.org/wiki/Hobkirk.

Praise God for:

God has used many Scottish men and women to touch the world such as David Livingstone, Mary Slessor, Robert Moffat, Eric Liddell and Robert Murray Mccheyne.

Revivals in the Hebrides’ in the 1950's strengthened and inspired the church. Thank God for such a man of God such as Duncan Campbell

Please pray for:

Scotland faces many social ills such as binge drinking, teen pregnancy and abortion. Coupled with unemployment, this is a potent mix of ills, but these things are being addressed by the church. Pray that God would move in great power to shake Scotland free of these terrible ills. Please pray for all agencies and workers seeking to challenge the status quo.

The two major cities of Glasgow and Edinburgh are the key to the country. Glasgow has a bad reputation, but the Church is active. Please pray for the Churches in the inner city areas of Glasgow, as they feel the full force of the enemy's attacks.  Edinburgh is a cultural centre, due to it's yearly festival and large student population. Please pray that God would energise these two cities, to be cities full of the people of God. Please also pray for the other major cities such as Dundee, Aberdeen and Inverness.

Please pray for the borders area, the Church of Scotland is strong here. Please pray that many dead churches would be revived.

The highlands stretch from Edinburgh upwards, and are probably one of the most beautiful areas in the world. Please pray for God to move in many small towns and villages such as Callender, Ballater and Fort Augustus.
Scotland has many islands off it's Westen Coast.. the main ones being Skye, Arran, Mull, Lewis, and North and South Uist. Revival took place on Lewis and North and South Uist through Duncan Campbell, but now these islands are being threatened by creeping materialism and capitalism. Please pray that God's Holy Spirit would stir these islands once again.

Two groups of Islands sit off the top of Scotland.. the Shetland, and Orkney Islands. Again both these islands are religious and have high church attendance, but they need a fresh touch of the Lord.

Finally please pray for my two beloved brothers and their wives, who serve God in Scotland.. Charles and Mary and Alex and Susan

Thanks for praying everyone

Please keep praying

God Bless You
