Theft in the name of giving the Gospel

Acts 20:32,33 And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of
his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance
among all them which are sanctified. I have coveted no man’s silver, or
gold, or apparel.

In India we have a law which is called Profiteering Law, by this law a
person has restriction to the margin of profit one can put over and about
the product or service one renders. It is due to this law today the medical
and legal services system in India is under scrutiny. Anyone found breaking
this law is considered a criminal and guilty for punishment.

We see in the name of spreading the Gospel, Teaching the Word, Worship,
Discipleship training people make large amounts of money. People do not
realize this is actually theft in the name of doing the Lord’s work..

I know of Preachers and Worshipers who attract larger crowds so charge more
for any event. Such people are not only robing the Lord but also the
people. These people should fear for even if they manage to go to Heaven
(which has very little chances) yet they will be penniless in Heaven since
they already received rewards here on earth by encashing their deeds.

Yes one has a right to take money if one is doing the Lord’s work but that
amount is restricted to the person’s needs, not desires. So one can charge
for the expenses and to overcome one’s needs but any amount more than that
is a theft. That means the amount a person can charge over and above the
expense is constant irrespective of the number of people. That also means
there should be no difference in what a senior Pastor or a junior Pastor
receives.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are God of abundance and everything that exist is yours. You are
our Providers, Protector and God. You Lord, desire we overcome the flesh
and desires of the flesh so as to be worthy of your Kingdom, since the
spiritual temptation are far stronger than earthly ones. Lord we pray those
who steal in your name repent for their sins...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
1 Corinthians 9:12 If others partake of this right over you, do not we yet
more? Nevertheless we did not use this right; but we bear all things, that
we may cause no hindrance to the gospel of Christ.

2 Thessalonians 3:7-12

Exodus 29:27-28

Levities 6:16-18

Gospel without Power

1 Thessalonians 1:5 For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also
in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what
manner of men we were among you for your sake.

During the time of Jesus the Jewish Church had broadly two types of people,
the Pharisees and the Sadducees. The Pharisees were people who ran after
signs and wonders. They believed only if they saw signs and wonders happen.
The Sadducees were a different lot; they were people who sought knowledge.
They were people who questioned and cross questioned and wanted to know
more.

If we look through the Gospels Jesus rebuked both of them. But if we look
closely Jesus rebuked the Pharisees more. We also see there were some
former Pharisees who later became disciples of Jesus. But when we look at
the Sadducees they were the harder lot who were more difficult than the
Pharisees. These people did not seek true understanding but sought the
understanding they had. They rejected many of the books of the Prophets
which are part of the Bible today. They also did not believe in
resurrection, Angels or Heaven. Their concept of God was so confusing that
they themselves were confused when asked to explain.

We should understand if someone is corrected it means the one who is
correcting has hope to see change in that person. If we are doing wrong and
God pulls us up it means He has not given up on us and has hope for change
in us. But if we are doing wrong and God allows us to continue then we are
a doomed lot.

Our Christian Church has not changed much but in fact taken the Pharisee
and Sadducee factor to extreme ends. We have people who do not understand
the Gospels, NT leave alone the OT but have faith that does miracles; these
people are the larger group that is very active in Church activities and
also hold most leadership positions. The other lot ‘the knowledge seekers’
are seekers not of the truth but knowledge that tickles their ears and
satisfies their understanding. They read other books and writers more than
the Bible and believe them more than scriptures. They have many gods
(humans) who tell them of God but are themselves far from knowing God. If
we look at the syllabus in recognized Bible colleges (the Universities they
follow) all the writers whose material they study are mostly secular
writers or unbelieving Christians, people having very little faith.

One well known Evangelist brother who was a former Muslim, after accepting
Christ went to a Bible college to do his degree. He had an argument with
the professor in class because the professor stated the Pentateuch were not
written by Moses even though there are scriptures within them wherein Moses
states he wrote them (leaving part of the last book which Joshua completed).

Even though it is the Pharisee lot who are making all the propaganda (large
events) in our Churches yet it is the Sadducee lot who are more at work
silently.

Like today’s message says we need to be knowledgeable Christians but also
power demonstrating Christians. We should not be just a blabbering lot but
when we give the Gospel let it be backed with a demonstration of the Power
of God and for that we need to have strong faith.

Let us not be a faithless, ignorant Christians.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Omnipotent, Omnipresent and All Knowing God. Your Word is a
Living Word that is active and does its job, it does not return without
doing its job. Lord we pray we do not be a blabbering, faithless people but
be a truly knowledgeable people having strong faith. We pray our Churches
changes and people discern those who lead them. We pray the Pharisees and
Sadducees be removed from our Churches...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Isaiah 55:11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it
shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please,
and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

Romans 15:19 Through mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit
of God; so that from Jerusalem, and round about unto Illyricum, I have
fully preached the gospel of Christ.

Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living, and active, and sharper than
any two-edged sword, and piercing even to the dividing of soul and spirit,
of both joints and marrow, and quick to discern the thoughts and intents of
the heart.

Dearly Beloved,

EVERYBODY IS WELCOME

“Behold, I stand at the doorand knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to himand dine with him, and he with Me” (Revelation 3:20 NKJV).

One of the unforgettableexperiences I had when I was in the United Kingdom a year ago was myinvolvement with the International Meeting Point (IMP) (run by PresbyterianChurch Ireland) located on Lisburn Road, Belfast, Northern Ireland that reachesout to migrants and asylum seekers in the city. I just relocated to that partof the city, and I was exploring the area when I saw the signpost of thecentre. As curious as I was during my sojourn in the country, I entered thecentre and inquired from a staff what the centre is up to. I was made tounderstand that it is a centre where everybody is welcome to enjoy “a widevariety of help and services [for] those who come through its doors [by]serving food and drinks in the cafe, offering legal advice, running Englishclasses, taking people shopping, helping the unemployed find jobs and leadingBible studies.” For almost five months, I used to visit this centre to enjoyits rendered services.  This centre is ona major road in the city, but not everyone in the city (especially migrants andasylum seekers) cares to visit the centre and make use of the facilitiesprovided and services rendered in the centre. Only those who care to visit thecentre are enjoying what the centre has to offer.

Similarly, Jesus Christ “wasin the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not knowHim. He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. But as many asreceived Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those whobelieve in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God” (John 1:10-13 NKJV). While many people arealready enjoying the goodness that is in Jesus Christ, it is a pity that manypeople are still refusing to test and taste this goodness. Some of these latterpeople think that they are self-sufficient and do not need Jesus Christ andwhat He has to offer. Some of them look elsewhere to find succor where there isnone. However, Jesus Christ declared: “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dinewith him, and he with Me” (Revelation 3:20 NKJV).

This is another Christmasseason when we are been reminded about the coming of Jesus Christ in human formto this world. Do not be like “His own” (the Jews) that did not receive Him. Everybodyis welcome to enjoy the goodness in the Lord Jesus. He stands at the door ofyour heart and is knocking today. He wants you to taste and see that He is good(compare Psalm 34:8). Everybody is welcome. Will you come to Him?

In His service,
Bayo Afolaranmi (Pastor).

R.D SOUZA Saved by faith - Page 18 Empty Re: R.D SOUZA Saved by faith

What do you look at?

2 Corinthians 10:7 Do ye look on things after the outward appearance? If
any man trust to himself that he is Christ’s, let him of himself think this
again, that, as he is Christ’s, even so are we Christ’s.

I know of some brothers who attend a service and start to criticize people
on what they wear (especially the sisters). From their words I wonder if
they were visiting a Mosque of a Christian service.

We Christians do need to dress modestly while knowing modestly level is not
a global parameter, modesty level vary from society to society, family to
family and person to person. Modesty actually does not matter on one’s own
outlook but on how others perceive us, that is the people we are surrounded
by. So what we wear and how we carry ourselves matters on the people we
will meet through the day. We may not be able to cater to every person but
yet we should be prayerful and sensitive to the Holy Spirit who can lead
us. We should remember our words, our action and the way we carry ourselves
we can make ourselves either agents of the Kingdom of God or agents of the
kingdom of Satan.

Saying all this, yet as Christians we cannot judge others based on what we
see or hear. We need to understand they are like raw diamonds which only a
very experienced professional can distinguish the finished product. More
interestingly we should also acknowledge some are yet in the coal stage and
on the way to become beautiful diamonds. We need to remember even today
when the Lord sees us He does not see what we are, or the mistakes we are
making, but sees what we will become. He looks at the finished product.

We as Christians may correct people according to what we see or hear but
let us not judge the person, meaning condemn as being that forever.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord, You are Omnipotent and Omnipresent God. You are everywhere, in every
place and every dimension, seeing what was, is and will be at the same time
for time is not a factor that binds You. Lord You loved us even before we
knew You because You God can see what You will make of us and not what we
are. We pray we do not become stiff-necked people who do not change. As You
have shown mercy on us, that we may show the same on others...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Romans 14:3, 13
3 Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not; and let not him
which eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him.
13 Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather,
that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother’s
way.

1 Corinthians 4:3-5
3 But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged of you, or
of man’s judgment: yea, I judge not mine own self.
4 For I know nothing by myself; yet am I not hereby justified: but he that
judgeth me is the Lord.
5 Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both
will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest
the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God.

1 Corinthians 11:31 For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be
judged.

James 5:9 Grudge not one against another, brethren, lest ye be condemned:
behold, the judge standeth before the door.

Neither adding nor taking

1 Peter 4:11 if any man speaketh, speaking as it were oracles of God; if
any man ministereth, ministering as of the strength which God supplieth:
that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, whose is the
glory and the dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

In today’s message has 3 parts.

1) The word translated as oracle means ‘brief utterance’, it speaks of
speaking without adding anything of our own (unrelated) to the message.
2) When delivering this message it says do it with the power of God. We are
not called to use human dramatics or showmanship, a thing which is seen
used by most Preachers.
3) The third part refers to the consequence of what happens when the
message does its job. The scripture says we should give the glory to God
through Jesus Christ. It says not even glorify Jesus Christ. We are called
to lift the name of Jesus Christ (God the Son who humbled Himself and
became man) but whom we can glorify is God alone for no man (flesh and
blood), even how so ever perfect he or she is, is not worthy of glory. Only
God can glorify Christ. It is for this reason Jesus rebuked the young rich
man when he called Him ‘good’. Now this word does not mean just good but is
an adjective in superlative sense. It is used in Ephesians 5:9 as one of
the 3 Fruits of the Holy Spirit which man cannot grow but given as a gift
and actually means ‘Holiness’ (the other two Fruits are Righteousness and
Truth - righteousness we get from the Son and truth from the His Spirit).
So if Christ Himself did not touch the glory of the Father then who are we
to do so. He gave thanks to God the Father for everything He did.

Today’s message says when we stand and preach in the name of the Lord. Let
us not make it a show [does not mean we need to preach with a poker face -
it refers to the understanding]. Let us not add things to the Word of God
or to the Kingdom of God just to make it interesting for the audience. Let
us also not use theatrics in delivering the Lord’s message, distracting the
attention of the people from the message and unto ourselves. Above all let
us always remember neither we nor anyone can take glory for what results
from the message of the Lord. We need to know we work under the authority
of Christ and all the glory belongs to God alone.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You alone are Holy. No man on earth or being in Heaven is perfect for
even the Angles erred and fell. You God humbled yourself so that You could
work through us and make us holy. We are called to be a righteous and holy
nation that walks in the truth, even though we are growing in them day by
day. We pray Lord we be just vessels that deliver your Word and its
understanding unto your people. We pray we do not add or take of your
message...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Mark 10:18 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is
none good but one, that is, God.

Ephesians 5: 9 (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness [holiness]
and righteousness and truth;)

John 2:4,11
4 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is
not yet come.
11 This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested
forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.

Matthew 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your
good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

John 17:1 These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and
said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may
glorify thee:

John 17:5 And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the
glory which I had with thee before the world was.

Romans 15:6 That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the
Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

John 16:14 He [Holy Spirit] shall glorify me: for he shall receive of
mine, and shall shew it unto you.

Shutting up God

1 Thessalonians 2:16 Forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they might
be saved, to fill up their sins alway: for the wrath is come upon them to
the uttermost.

In today’s message Paul speaks to the former Jews in the city of
Thessalonica who have accepted Christ and are saved from the wrath. We read
Paul accuses the Jews of Judea of murdering Jesus Christ and former
Prophets. He also accuses them of shutting up salvation from the Gentiles.

Today the Lord wants us to understand how the Jews prevented salvation from
the Gentiles.

Salvation was always for all including the Gentiles. It was first given to
the natural decedents of Abraham and also to those who are spiritually
connected to him by believing in the God of Abraham who became the seed of
Abraham. Today we are called decedents of Abraham and inheritors of his
promises not because we are his natural decedents but are his spiritual
decedents by our faith in Jesus Christ. Abraham was called father of many
nations by the Lord and not just father of the Israelites.

God revealed Himself first to the Hebrews (decedents of Noah) but later
restricted Himself to the Israelites since His promises were carried by
Isaac and Jacob through their obedience to Him. God was never restricted
only to Israelites for any person could become a part of Israel and
inheritors of His promises if they kept the commandments of God.

The Jews shut God from the Gentiles by their worldly traditions. They
claimed their traditions were from God but were actually due to their lack
of understanding of scriptures. The Word of God never changed but was never
understood. It was only through Christ the true understanding of the Word
was revealed. The Jews sensing their traditions were in danger crucified
Christ. Paul says this has caused the Jews to be partakers of the great
wrath that awaits them.

Let us ask ourselves are we as Christians behaving like Jews? Are we
restricting salvation to the Gentiles by our own ungodly things? What is
that in us that is shutting God from those who do not know Him? Is it our
laziness, or our careless attitude, or own social rituals that keeps others
from knowing God.

Let us ask ourselves today, are we giving ‘another christ’ and hiding the
true Christ by our festivals. What are we celebrating? If it is not from
the Word of God then it is surely worldly and against God. Jesus said the
world hates God and thus is against God. So let us not be worldly but be
godly in all that we do even if we feel we are doing ‘good’.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are God and Creator of all. Life came from You and is sustained
through You alone. Those who dwell in your Name receive the abundance of
life and life eternal, but those who are far from You experience wrath and
suffer their doings and perish. Lord we pray we do not be like the Jews
shutting You from the lost by what we do. We pray give us a heart to share
the true You with others...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
1 Thessalonians 2:13-16
13 For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye
received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the
word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually
worketh also in you that believe.
14 For ye, brethren, became followers of the churches of God which in
Judaea are in Christ Jesus: for ye also have suffered like things of your
own countrymen, even as they have of the Jews:
15 Who both killed the Lord Jesus, and their own prophets, and have
persecuted us; and they please not God, and are contrary to all men:
16 Forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they might be saved, to
fill up their sins alway: for the wrath is come upon them to the uttermost.

Romans 4:14-18
14 For if they which are of the law be heirs, faith is made void, and the
promise made of none effect:
15 Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no
transgression.
16 Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the
promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the
law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father
of us all,
17 (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before
him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those
things which be not as though they were.
18 Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of
many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be.

John 7:7 The world cannot hate you; but me it hateth, because I testify of
it, that the works thereof are evil.

R.D SOUZA Saved by faith - Page 18 Empty Re: R.D SOUZA Saved by faith

What kind of fellowship do we have?

Philippians 1:5 For your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until
now;

Paul in his letter to the Church in Philippi speaks of praying for them
every time he recollects them. He says his prayer is all about them having
fellowship.

When we hear the word fellowship we think it means socializing. The Greek
word used here is koinonia which mean partnering. Paul here speaks of
‘fellowshipping in the Gospel’ from the first day to until the coming of
Jesus Christ. Paul meant people connect with each other to encourage each
other and support each other to build their faith, so that their faith
remains and grows until the coming of Christ.

We need to understand whatever great works we do in the Name of Christ in
our lifetime and bring thousands to know Him but if we ourselves die
without faith (rejecting Christ) we are doomed, we do not enter Heaven.
Baptism in Christ is our confession of our faith in Him and baptism in the
Holy Spirit helps us sustain our faith until we sleep. If we confess our
faith in Christ and die the next minute we get to enter Heaven (lie the
thief crucified with Jesus) but if we continue to be alive we cannot keep
the faith (and grow it) unless we are baptized in the Holy Spirit.

In today’s message Paul speak of us partnering with God (Holy Spirit) in
encouraging people not only to keep our faith, but increase their faith so
that they sleep in Christ (believing Him).

The main purpose of our coming together on Sabbath is to fellowship. The
Pastor works on increasing our faith and we are also called to encourage
each other to increase the faith. If we are going to Church and coming back
with no good effect to our faith then we need to ask ourselves, what we are
doing in the name of ‘Church’. Are we part of the Body of Christ or of a
social / religious gathering?

Next time you and I step into Church we need to remember as partners of
Christ, we are called to encourage others in faith, it is our duty. If we
are not doing that then can we say we are in Christ? If we have the fire of
Christ then how can there be coldness in us?

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Almighty God, nothing is impossible for You. Yet Lord You
chose man to partner with You in your mission of saving mankind. You do
this so that man become more like You and thus worthy to receive that which
is set for him in Heaven. Lord we pray we remember every moment we are
partners to a mission and we do this with great dedication...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Philippians 1:3-6
3 I thank my God upon every remembrance of you,
4 Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy,
5 For your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now;
6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work
in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

John 15:13-16
13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for
his friends.
14 Ye are my friends [associates], if ye do whatsoever I command you.
15 Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what
his lord doeth: but I have called you friends [associates]; for all things
that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.
16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye
should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that
whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

Enemies United

Luke 23:8 Now when Herod saw Jesus, he was exceeding glad: for he was of a
long time desirous to see him, because he had heard concerning him; and he
hoped to see some miracle done by him.

Herod Antipas (Antipater) a tetrarch (Jewish ruler of a region) was the one
who beheaded John the Baptist and he was son of Herod the Great who tried
to kill Jesus when He was just born and in turn caused genocide by killing
all newly born in Bethlehem. The entire Herodian family history is one of
incessant brawls, suspicion, intrigue arid shocking immorality.

In today’s message we see Pontus Pilate a governor of the Roman Empire
sends Jesus to Herod a Jewish authority even though they were enemies of
each other. Pilate did not want to be the one to be blamed for stirring a
Jewish revolt in his region. So Pilate shows that he is respecting the
authority of Herod since Jesus was from his region and sends Jesus to him.

In today’s message Herod Antipas being a Jew wanted to escape this trap by
hoping to see Jesus do some miracle before him and thereby justifying Jesus
to be a Prophet. He had heard a lot about Jesus and His work so did not
want to be the person to order His execution.

Both Pilate and Herod had no love for Jesus; they both loved their
position, power and the things that come with it. Both knew it was the
people they ruled over had the power to topple them so to please the people
they could go to any extend. Their interest was not the welfare of the
people but their own welfare.

Today’s message shows us even those who are not in Christ may show to be
good. They even show themselves to be doing social service but then they
truly do not have a heart to want they do. Like someone rightly said ‘one
can give without loving but when one loves one gives’.

Before Christ and without Christ, love is a noun, a verb that is described
with many words but yet unknown. What people do in the name of love is not
truly love. To truly love a person one needs to know the truth because true
love edifies, it prospers the recipient. God is called love because He
alone knows the Truth, man did not know the truth (even little of it - they
knew the shadow of it) until Christ came. Bible says truth and grace came
through Jesus Christ (through Him we receive the Spirit of Truth).

Yesterday at Church service we had a message on social justice and the
preacher perfectly put social service is catering to the symptoms of social
problems while social justice is working on the root of the problems. For
social service one needs to give time and resource while for social justice
one needs to also give oneself. Social justice as the word says moves
around the law, on equality but does this by adding a lot of mercy.

Jesus was a champion not of social justice but beyond it. He was a champion
of spiritual justice. He wanted us to get equality not only here on earth
but also in Heaven. He knew by ourselves we will not achieve it so He added
all the mercy we need; He added grace.

We as Christians are called to be champions of spiritual justice. We are
not called to just do social service but to be like Christ working to the
roots and deeper so that the person gets justice with mercy even beyond
this natural world.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are God of all the Heavens and all that is in it. You made man on
earth not to be restricted to it but to also enjoy the upper Heavens. It is
sin that restricted our access to Heaven because the truth in us got
corrupted. You Lord came as man so that You make way for us to know the
truth through your Spirit so You paid the price for our sins. Lord we pray
we do not do works to please man but by knowing the truth, through your
Spirit do the works that glorify You...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Hebrews 6:1 Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ,
let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance
from dead works, and of faith toward God,

Ephesians 5:11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of
darkness, but rather reprove them.

Galatians 2:16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the
law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus
Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the
works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

Acts 6:2 Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them,
and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve
tables.

Hebrews 10:24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to
good works:

James 2:14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath
faith, and have not works? can faith save him?

Pleasing each other

Acts 25:9 But Festus, willing to do the Jews a pleasure, answered Paul,
and said, Wilt thou go up to Jerusalem, and there be judged of these things
before me?

In yesterday’s message we saw when enemies of Christ Pontus Pilate and
Herod were in danger they tried to save their own selves but yet they were
united to see the destruction of Jesus Christ. In today’s message we see
when the enemies are not in danger themselves they look to please each
other.

In short those who are not in Christ and enemies of the Gospel are selfish
but yet united against the Kingdom of God. They will please each other and
go to any extend to deceive just to achieve their purpose, above all they
think about themselves first.

We as Christians are called not to be like them. We are called to be united
as one for the Kingdom of God but we do not please each other for doing
this. We are called to please only the purpose of God’s Kingdom; if we are
truly focused to do that then all of us will surely be pleased. We are
called to put the Kingdom of God first and ourselves last.

We need to ask ourselves if we are not correcting each other but pleasing
each other, even though we see a brother doing wrong, then are we behaving
like those of His Kingdom or those against His Kingdom?

Surely we are not called to always rebuke people on their face but do it in
a gentle manner or even ask someone else in a better position to do it. But
we are surely called to act on it and not to be blind to it. We need to
remember even though we have not done a crime, but if we stand as audience
to the crime, we are party to the crime.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are almighty God. You God have seen the destruction of your
creation by evil. Even though You gave all a free will but You did not sit
aside and see the destruction continue. You Lord intervened to make way for
goodness to prevail over evil. You did not break your principles but also
made way for man to have victory over darkness. We pray Lord we behave like
those of your Kingdom and not like those who are set against your Kingdom...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
1 John 5:16(A) If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto
death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto
death….

2 Peter 3:17 Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before,
beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from
your own stedfastness.

Hebrew 6:4-6
4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have
tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,
5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to
come,
6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing
they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open
shame.

1 Corinthians 5:13 But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put
away from among yourselves that wicked person.

Eating of the Tree of Good and Evil

Romans 11:32 For God hath concluded them all in unbelief, that he might
have mercy upon all.

In Islam women are considered evil. Islam goes to the extent of stating
that their prophet saw Hell was full of women. Women are made to cover
primarily not for modesty reason but because they are considered as objects
causing people to lust and sin. According to Sharia (Islamic law) if a
woman is raped she is not considered a victim but a propagator of the act
and punished unless backed by not 1 but 4 witnesses.

The cause of this thinking is misunderstanding of biblical scriptures.
Mohammed like many Christians think it was Eve who was at fault for she
first ate a fruit, sinned and caused Adam to sin. If we go by the text that
is what it seems but when we understand it we see God accused and pulled
Adam more than Eve. It was to Adam and not to Eve that God commanded not to
eat of the so called ‘Tree of Good and Evil’. Adam due to his misplaced
affection to Eve sinned even though he knew it was wrong.

Firstly the tree was not a natural tree for it was in Eden / Paradise [the
word means Park] which is a spiritual place. Adam and Eve were made in an
earthly garden and had access to Eden [Heaven]. When they sinned they were
exiled to the garden they were made in. The fruit they ate was not a
natural fruit. Also if we see in Revelation [Paradise is projected not as a
garden but as a city] this tree does not exist in Paradise. Why then did
God put this tree in the start in Eden in the first place?

When God created things in this natural world as He created them He said
they are good and after He finished creating all He again said it was good.
He did not say anything was evil in His creation. The only evil that
existed was Satan and his fallen angels. By Adam and Eve eating of the tree
of Good and Evil (doubt) wanted to know evil. When Satan (came deceiving as
a serpent) said they will be like God it did not mean they would be
immortal or almighty, it meant they who were innocent to evil by eating of
the tree will not be.

God saw the darkness and thus created this natural world and man to
overcome the darkness, but by man sinning he bought darkness into this
world. God knew the Law by itself could not do the job of overcoming
darkness, so by the sacrifice God made available His Spirit who worked the
Law within us to overcome the darkness.

We may look at Adam and Eve as those who ate of the tree of doubt and blame
them but we do not see that we every day eat of that tree when we do not
walk in faith. Bible says only when the Truth is complete in us will we
overcome doubt and be perfect like Christ.

Today’s message speaks of the mercy of God even after man sinned. God knew
the Law would not by itself help man overcome evil. He knew it was only by
His Spirit that the Law would do the job of overcoming evil through us.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Light and You are from the beginning beyond time. When
darkness came into existence You God did not crush it but gave time and
created our world so that we become a light that overcometh this darkness.
Lord we pray we battle our priorities and misplaced desires every day and
walk in faith so that we know the truth more and more and become perfect...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Genesis 2:6-9
6 But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of
the ground.
7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into
his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
8 And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the
man whom he had formed.
9 And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is
pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the
midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

Genesis 3:23-24
23 Therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till
the ground from whence he was taken.
24 So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of
Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way
of the tree of life.

Revelation 21:1-3
1 And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal,
proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.
2 In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was
there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her
fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the
nations.
3 And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb
shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him:

John 12:46 I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on
me should not abide in darkness.

2 Corinthians 4:4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of
them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ,
who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

Render your dues

Romans 13:7 Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is
due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.

Today’s message talks of us paying our dues. It talks of dues in four areas
tribute, custom, fear and honor. Let me explain each of them.

Tribute means taxes. Every Christian is called to pay the taxes of the
land. We are not called to outsmart the system to eliminate taxes.

Customs here refers to our obligation towards those dependent on us. In old
times there was an amount given to kings or princes, this was separate from
the taxes paid. Customs also refers to our obligatory financial or natural
support to those in the immediate family or relatives. If God has put us in
a relationship we are called to honor it and execute our duties towards
that relationship. No person can call himself or herself an anointed person
of God if that person does not execute his or her family duties or does not
help his or her relatives. Irrespective of they being Believers or not,
they love us or not, they are in talking terms with us or not, we are
called to fulfill our duties towards them.

Fear here refers to respecting the enforcers of the law. We are called to
respect officers of the various departments of those who enforce the law
this includes police, arm forces and even the security guards of our
society.

Honor here refers to respecting those put in civil or spiritual authority.
Like we honor our Pastors and those who spiritually guide us similarly we
as Christians are also called to honor those in civil positions. We are
also called to honor people like teachers and people in work office, those
who are set above us. We need to understand God has placed them in that
position, even if we like them or not.

Christians are not only called to be good citizens of the Kingdom of God
but also called to be good citizens of the country wherein they dwell. We
cannot be good Christians if we are not good law abiding citizens of the
country we are living in.

I also want to address one more point; our relation to the above should be
like we honor our parents and abide in them, but if our parents take us
away from God it does not need us to abide under them. We are no called to
public revolt but also not called to abide to their wishes. God should be
above all and over all. Our objections should be done in love and worthy of
being a good spiritual Christian.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Holy God. You desire us to separate ourselves from that which
is unholy, yet You desire us to honor those whom You have put above us.
Lord your Word says it is our obedience to your Word that decides who is
set over us. Help us Lord to be good law abiding citizens and also to honor
and respect those in authority...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Mark 12:14-17

Matthew 15:4-6
4 For God said, Honor thy father and thy mother: and, He that speaketh
evil of father or mother, let him die the death.
5 But ye say, whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, That
wherewith thou mightest have been profited by me is given to God;
6 he shall not honor his father. And ye have made void the word of God
because of your tradition.

Ephesians 6:1-6
1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.
2 Honor thy father and mother (which is the first commandment with
promise),
3 that it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.
4 And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but nurture them in
the chastening and admonition of the Lord.
5 Servants, be obedient unto them that according to the flesh are your
masters, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto
Christ;
6 not in the way of eyeservice, as men-pleasers; but as servants of
Christ, doing the will of God from the heart;

Wise as serpents

Matthew 10:16 Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be
ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.

Today I am sharing something which the Lord opened my mind to while I was
hearing the preaching yesterday in my Church.

Yesterday as my Pastor was preaching on Matthew 10, verse 16 intrigued me
especially the words ‘wise as a serpent’. People mostly relate Satan as a
serpent, this is because Satan is a deceiver and the movement of serpent is
mostly zigzag. I am also aware that Jesus on the cross was symbolized by a
bronze serpent on a pole which healed people during the time of Moses, this
is because He was cursed for us and a serpent that crawls on its belly
symbolizes cursed. What I wanted to know yesterday was why ‘wise as a
serpent’? The Lord then opened my mind to understand this.

The Greek word ‘phronimos’ translated as wise comes from the word ‘phren’
which means diaphragm. True wisdom is something that is drawn in from the
Spirit (breathe).

The Egyptians believed serpents have excellent sight but they were partly
wrong. A serpent has very bad eyesight and in fact cannot distinguish
colors (color blind). It relies more on its senses of smell and temperature
using its tongue more than its eyes. But a very interesting fact is when a
snake is in danger or in a situation it rushes blood to its eyes and
improves it eyesight. That is why it can catch a fast prey or attach at
high speed.

By telling us to be wise as serpents, Jesus was telling us even though we
are incompetent and lack wisdom (of the world) yet when He sends us out to
do His work He will give us the wisdom we need through His Spirit. We
should not worry what we will say and what we will do; He will put words in
our mouth and will guide us as to what to do when the time comes. On the
other hand if we think we are wise and have all the knowledge then we will
not receive the wisdom of God.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Almighty and All Knowing God, your wisdom has no measure. You
Lord use simple people to do great works. Those who think they are wise,
are ashamed by You using simple people. Lord help us to surrender unto your
Spirit so that we receive from Him. Help us not to rely on our abilities...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Matthew 11:25 At that season Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O
Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou didst hide these things from
the wise and understanding, and didst reveal them unto babes:

Matthew 10:17-20
17 But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to councils, and in
theirs synagogues they will scourge you;
18 yea and before governors and kings shall ye be brought for my sake, for
a testimony to them and to the Gentiles.
19 But when they deliver you up, be not anxious how or what ye shall
speak: for it shall be given you in that hour what ye shall speak.
20 For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father that
speaketh in you.

Pleasure of sin is only for a period

Hebrew 11:25 Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God,
than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season;

One thing we do not realize is sin never gives pleasure for long, whatever
is the sin it is pleasurable for a period which mostly is very short, very
sinner always has to extend the boundaries of sin so as to keep enjoying
the sin. Now there being a limit to the boundary since most sins are
fleshly or carnal in nature we find the person at the end restores to
self-destruction.

God allowed sin in man like a doctor gives vaccination by injecting a
controlled minuscule amount of the virus in the person. Like the doctor
knows the body will fight the virus and build immunity to it so also God
who has created us and given us the power to overcome sin (through Christ)
knows at the end we will be immune to sin.

There is another misconception that people sin worse sins now than they did
before. Bible says there is no new sin; the same sins are repeated with a
new packaging. If we read history what people are doing today was done even
then only the quantity and way of doing it may wary. Bible also says it is
better to keep away from sin than to fight it after infecting ourselves
with it. Being innocent to sin is better, so we should avoid people or
situations which lead us to sin, if we are unable to overcome.

Like darkness is non-existent by itself but comes into existence due to
obstruction of light similarly sin and evil is not a power like projected
in the worldly system, but is anti-power, it drains or destroys the power
that exists, that is why Paul perfectly puts sin as corruption.

Today’s scripture tells us those who know the truth choose to suffer
affliction than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season. Jesus said when
we become His disciples by following His ways, we will know the truth and
the truth will set us free.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord, You are Awesome God. You are Almighty and for You to crush evil will
not take a moment, but You God in your eternal wisdom chose to make mere
insignificant man to be the one that crushes evil. You Lord shine your
light through man to overcome this darkness. We pray Lord we understand sin
and its consequence and let not its pleasures lead us to destruction and
vanity...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Ecclesiastes 1:9 That which hath been is that which shall be; and that
which hath been done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing
under the sun.

Ecclesiastes 1:14 I have seen all the works that are done under the sun;
and, behold, all is vanity and a striving after wind.

Ecclesiastes 4:3 yea, better than them both did I esteem him that hath not
yet been, who hath not seen the evil work that is done under the sun.

1 Timothy 6:10-11
10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil: which some
reaching after have been led astray from the faith, and have pierced
themselves through with many sorrows.
11 But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after
righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.

2 Timothy 2:22 But flee youthful lusts, and follow after righteousness,
faith, love, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

John 8:31-32
31 Jesus therefore said to those Jews that had believed him, If ye abide
in my word, then are ye truly my disciples;
32 and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Did Moses know Christ?

Hebrews 11: 26 Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the
treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward.

Yesterday I was preaching at a Church on the topic ‘the natural being and
the spiritual being’; the being - what we were, are and as to what we will
be transformed into when Lord Jesus Christ comes. Before, I had tried to
explain this to people (in social media groups) even to those who do a lot
of Bible study yet failed to do so, leaving for a very, very few amongst
them. But yesterday with God’s leading I was surprised how easily I could
put this understanding across.

The reason I am pointing to this matter is because today’s message talks of
Moses knowing Christ and His shame. It speaks of Moses forsaking the riches
of Egypt and found it more worthy to partake in the shame of Christ then to
partake in the worldly riches and worldly power of Egypt.

If we look at the Prophets (Men of God) in the OT not all of them knew
Christ even though they followed and were used by Him. Amongst those who
knew Him were Abraham, Moses, David, Isaiah and Zachariah. These lived in a
time before Christ came as man and manifested the love of God, giving us
the grace and truth, yet they knew Him. We living in a time of grace and
truth being available yet we hardly know Him. Leave alone knowing Christ,
we do not know man (ourselves) and the purpose God created man. If we knew
man, we as Christians would have known Christ better and would have changed
the world in a few years.

Yesterday I have demonstrated how we read scriptures but go by the
understanding people have induced in us. Let scriptures talk to us and let
us shut our ears to what people say.

Unless Christ does not want to reveal Himself to us, we will not know Him.
If we want Christ to reveal Himself to us, we need to greatly desire to
know Him. If we are going to follow teachings of people more than the Word
of God, then there is no way we will ever know Him.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are God of all creation. All spirit beings including Satan and his
fallen ones know You. It is only man who is confused and this confusing is
what Satan and his deception has induced into man. They have done this
because they fear man and the purpose God has created man for. Lord we pray
this deception is removed and more and more come to know You. It is only by
knowing You that we know our purpose in You...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Hebrews 11:24-29
24 By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son
of Pharaoh’s daughter;
25 Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to
enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season;
26 Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in
Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward.
27 By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he
endured, as seeing him who is invisible.
28 Through faith he kept the passover, and the sprinkling of blood, lest
he that destroyed the firstborn should touch them.
29 By faith they passed through the Red sea as by dry land: which the
Egyptians assaying to do were drowned.

John 8:56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and
was glad.

Matthew 22:43-45
43 He saith unto them, How then doth David in spirit call him Lord, saying,
44 The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make
thine enemies thy footstool?
45 If David then call him Lord, how is he his son?

Acts 3:22-23
22 For Moses truly said unto the fathers, A prophet shall the Lord your
God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear in
all things whatsoever he shall say unto you.
23 And it shall come to pass, that every soul, which will not hear that
prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people.

Sorcery in the name of God!

Acts 8:9,10 But there was a certain man, called Simon, which beforetime in
the same city used sorcery, and bewitched the people of Samaria, giving out
that himself was some great one: To whom they all gave heed, from the least
to the greatest, saying, This man is the great power of God.

Just yesterday in a Whatsapp believers group a brother posted a clip of a
Preacher shaking his coat and causing the crowd to fall down. The clip was
tagged as ‘magic coat’. This is not a one off case, in fact more than half
of Preachers of some countries do such things and we see this has started
strongly influencing Preachers in my country (India).

I come from a Catholic background. When I was in the Catholic Church I was
still passionate about God and was part of the charismatic movement. I am
happy God took me through that route since I saw and experienced many
things which if I had not I would have not been able to discern them today.

We see people doing utter nonsense but yet performing great acts that too
standing in the name of the Lord. If we see in the Bible there are cases of
people disobeying God yet performing miracles or misusing the gifts of the
Holy Spirit for ungodly ends.

One things we should understand like the life God has given us He does not
take it away, He may stop one’s natural life in one’s own interest (taking
the person away before the spiritual state get harmed) or when the person
is going to truly harm His people beyond their tolerance state. God has set
a limit to evil, even though He gives a free choice He does not let evil
overwhelm beyond its tolerance limit. We can lose our spiritual gifts by
forsaking them or corrupt them but we cannot blame God for taking it away.

If we misuse our spiritual gifts then God will not take it away. If we use
it for worldly gain we will lose our rewards in Heaven and may not even be
allowed to enter Heaven; if we use it to spiritually harm others (those who
are of God) then that same gift will become a curse on is and destroy us,
making us a spectacle before His people.

If we see Men and Women of God misusing their spiritual gifts we have the
right to correct them, but we need to do it in a gentle way hoping they
will repent and again glorify God. We should at no stage mock his or her
anointing (spiritual gift) since the problem is with the person and not the
anointing, the anointing is from God.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord, You are Almighty and Righteous God. What You give You do not take
away. But You being all knowing You are aware and in control. Lord we pray
we do not misuse our spiritual gifts for earthly blessings and pleasures,
thereby making these gifts into a curse in our lives...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Numbers 23:20 See, I have had orders to give blessing: and he has given a
blessing which I have no power to take away.

Numbers 22:12 And God said to Balaam, You are not to go with them, or put
a curse on this people, for they have my blessing.

Deuteronomy 23:5 But the Lord your God would not give ear to Balaam, but
let the curse be changed into a blessing to you, because of his love for
you.

1 Corinthians 14:12 So also ye, since ye are zealous of spiritual gifts,
seek that ye may abound unto the edifying of the church.

Remain in Him

Philippians 1:10,11 That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye
may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ; Being filled
with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory
and praise of God.

Most Christians think just believing in Christ and getting water baptized
in sufficient for one to entry Heaven. When I ask these people if an
elderly person or even a young person in his or her dying state in hospital
accepts Christ and gives his or her life to Christ, then would that person
qualify to enter Heaven?

They will quickly say ‘YES’ for they relate to the incident of the robber
crucified next to Jesus, Jesus told him ‘that day’ he will be with him in
Paradise. Not this day /today as translated in all translations. Jesus
Himself did not go to Heaven that day and He states this to Mary Magdalene
when she tries to touch Him after 2 days after He resurrected.

In today’s message Paul speaks of remaining in Christ until our last
breathe. He also speaks of growing the Fruits of the Holy Spirit until we
die. Our water baptism and Holy Spirit baptism is not a ticket to Heaven
but necessary to keep us in Him and to increase our rewards in Heaven.

Our water baptism reminds us of our commitment to Him / our marriage into
His Body.

Heaven being a Spirit place, the Fruits of the Holy Spirit is its wealth,
without them we do not get entry [our baptism in Christ starts with the
Fruit of faith]. Our Holy Spirit baptism helps us grow the Fruits of the
Holy Spirit.

Since none of us qualify ourselves but are qualified by Him, so without
baptisms of water and cloud [Christ and His Spirit] it is just impossible
to be in the race and finish it successfully.

No Christian can take one’s life casually. Even a day without Christ or far
away from Him can be very dangerous, for if that day is our exit day then
our whole race is a failure. So if by chance we have distant ourselves from
Christ neither let us not delay nor defer our return to Him for we may risk
our whole life journey by doing so.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord, You are Holy and Righteous God. None are righteous yet You accept
those who seek You and remain in You. Lord we pray when we sleep we remain
in You. We pray we do not exit this race to Heaven any point in our life or
take it likely...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

3 Remember therefore how thou hast received and didst hear; and keep it,
and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come as a thief, and
thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.

Hebrews 12:1 Therefore let us also, seeing we are compassed about with so
great a cloud of witnesses, lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth
so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set
before us,

Luke 23:42-43
42 And he said, Jesus, remember me when thou comest in thy kingdom.
43 And he said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To-day [that day] shalt

Baptized in His death?

Romans 6:3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus
Christ were baptized into his death?

I always tell people that not only Satan wants to kill you even God is
behind you so that you die; like God wants you to enjoy life so also Satan
wants you to enjoy life. When I tell them this, they get taken back as to
what I am telling them.

God said unless we do not die we will not have life. He wants us to die to
ourselves, our earthly desires and our carnal nature. This death is not a
onetime death but one that you die to every day, every hour, unless we do
not do that we will not have eternal life. Entry to Heaven requires us to
be transformed not in our outwards looks or by our habits but from within
in our spirit.

Satan on the other hand wants us to live this life, enjoy it. He desires to
explore all its boundaries and even beyond them, perverseness is name of
the game for him. He does this so that our spirit is suppressed by our
flesh and we spiritually die; he does not want us enter Heave and receive
the things set for us in Heaven.

Something that is very wrongly understood is that we kill or terminate
fallen angels / evil spirits; we do not, neither do Angels of God nor God
Himself. God does not terminate life even of fallen angels. We or the
angels who have gone far from Him in values are spiritually set far from
Him. Near Him, near His Throne of glory is life in its abundance and far
from His glory is life of suffering. When we die our natural death we still
live and we live until our spirit life term (which is in thousands of
years). If we go to Hell we will suffer there our sins within us (fire is
within us), there neither Satan nor God (His Angels) punish us; we punish
ourselves. If we believe and not do the Will of the Father then we do not
suffer ours sins (since we are forgiven) but we are punished for rejecting
the Word in a place called Lake of Fire / Sulphur. This suffering is even
worse than we suffering our own sins. In both Hell and Lake of Fire we will
exist until the life within us perishes its term. But if we go to Heaven we
will have the option to live life eternal for we will have access to the
Tree of Life.

Adam and Eve were in the Garden of Eden / Heaven where the Tree of Life
exists. We see even though they were not restricted to eat of it, yet they
did not, but when they sinned God removed their access from it.

No one has eternal life within oneself, only God does and this ability
exists in the Son also. When we eat of the Tree of Life we will get a
renewal of life and thus our continual access to it is very necessary. So
unless we do not dwell in Heaven we will not have eternal life. Jesus said
He going so as to prepare a place for us in Heaven, so that we dwell there
forever in the glory of God.

Let us decide are we going to be like Christ who as man did not live for
Himself but lived to do the Will of the Father. Today’s scripture does not
talk only of His death on the crucifix but more over the every moment of
His life where He sacrificed His own desires for us. Unless we do not die
like He did daily, we will not have eternal life with Him.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are God and giver of life. Only You God have life that is eternal,
yet You give us the ability to have eternal life by giving us access to the
Tree of Life. Lord we pray we willingly die this natural life daily so that
we enjoy our eternal life of abundance with You in Heaven...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

his life for my sake shall find it.

Revelation 22:14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may
have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the
city.

Revelation 22:2 In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of
the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits,
and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the
healing of the nations.

Resistance to the truth

2 Timothy 4:14,15 Alexander the coppersmith did me much evil: the Lord
reward him according to his works: Of whom be thou ware also; for he hath
greatly withstood our words.

I am into Apologetics wherein we prepare to answer any question concerning
our belief and also those against our belief. We are required not only to
be strongly founded in our own belief but are required to know the beliefs
of others so as to understand their ground and be able to answer them in
their own language (belief). Apologetics is a powerful tool for evangelism.

Being connected to apologists in India and many across the world I have
seen their over dependency on knowledge. In today’s message we see Paul the
greatest apologist of his time accepts defeat against a person named
Alexander. In Acts 19:33 this person is mentioned to have openly argued
against Paul in front of the public. He being a Jew did not speak against
idol worship but took middle ground and partly supported the idol
worshipers. The people of Ephesus seeing a Jew support them got carried
away. This was not the only time Alexander was a problem creator,
theologians believe 1 Timothy 1:19-20 speaks of the same Alexander as one
of the persons whom Paul surrendered to Satan.

Paul did not have an understanding with Satan that he could surrender
people unto him. What Paul did was remove the spiritual protection he
extended over these people. Paul’s intention was not to condemn them for
eternal damnation but let earthly suffering bring sense in them.

However knowledgeable we may be, we will not be able to answer every person
all the time. We should understand there will be times we will need to take
a step back and handle things spiritually.

We as Christians need to balance our lives between knowledge and spiritual
gifts; too much leaning on either side can be harmful. We need to realize
it is the Holy Spirit who is the true revealer of understanding and
spiritual gifts come from Him. If only gifts could solve all then He would
not be referred to as Spirit of Truth and on the other hand if knowledge
and understanding could do all then why give giftings?

Jesus as man was full of wisdom and understanding, He would be counted as
the best Teacher on earth at that time yet we see His disciple did not
understand Him fully. They understood Him only when they themselves were
baptized in the Holy Spirit.

I have seen Churches get destroyed because their Pastor tried to keep them
under his or her fold, becoming their (eternal) mentor. Let us learn when
we need to stop and let others and ultimately God (Holy Spirit) take over.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are All Knowing God. When You became man You studied scriptures
and grew in knowledge and understanding. You yourself took help of your
Spirit to grow and be perfect. Lord let us realize we do not be like the
Sadducees whom Jesus did not find even worthy to rebuke much like He did to
the Pharisees. Let not knowledge puff us and harden our heart and make in
un-teachable. Help us to submit to your Spirit and learn to be teachable...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Acts 19:32-41, Acts 20:1

1 Timothy 1:19-20
19 Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away
concerning faith have made shipDid Moses know Christ?

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

endured, as seeing him who is invisible.
28 Through faith he kept the passover, and the sprinkling of blood, lest
he that destroyed the firstborn should touch them.
29 By faith they passed through the Red sea as by dry land: which the

God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear in
all things whatsoever he shall say unto you.
23 And it shall come to pass, that every soul, which will not hear that

a step back and handle things spiritually.

Believing unsaved

1 Peter 2:7,8 Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto
them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the
same is made the head of the corner, And a stone of stumbling, and a rock
of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient:
whereunto also they were appointed.

There is a great deception and lie that is spread throughout Churches that
anyone who just believes in the Lord Jesus Christ will go to Heaven.

Yes there are scriptures which say we are saved by our faith in the Lord
Jesus Christ, for by our faith we receive the grace to be saved, also this
faith is a gift that we receive. But this is just part of our requirement
to be saved.

In today’s scripture Peter very clearly states he is speaking unto those
who believe. He says to the believers if they are obedient to the Lord (do
His Will) then Christ becomes a cornerstone to which they get aligned and
come into perfection. But if they do not be obedient then the save Christ
becomes a stumbling rock and this rock will crush them.

Faith without obedience is not considered true faith. We need to obey the
Word of God and obey His Spirit and it is only when we obey the Word and
the Spirit of God then we get transformed from within / born from above /
born again so as to enter the Kingdom of God / enter Heaven.

Think, if we are saved by faith and this faith is a gift, then is God
unjust to not give the gift of faith to those who are unbelieving? We need
to understand the gift of faith (true faith) is only given to those whom
God knows will be obedient to His Word and His Spirit who reveals the Word.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Almighty God, You are Spirit. Flesh and blood cannot inherit
your Kingdom it is only when we get transformed from within by abiding in
your Word and your Spirit who reveals the Word. Lord we pray we abide in
true faith but believing and obedience...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of
yourselves: it is the gift of God:

Romans 9:31-33
31 But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, hath not
attained to the law of righteousness.
32 Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the
works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone;
33 As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumblingstone and rock of
offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

John 3:5-7
5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of
water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the
Spirit is spirit.
7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.

We will be transformed

Philippians 3:21 Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned
like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able
even to subdue all things unto himself.

Yesterday the Lord highlighted we have lost the purpose of our life and
death because we do not know what we in to receive or become. In today’s
message the Lord is telling us about what we will become.

Let me again remind you that I do not select the message for the day. These
messages are prayed and received randomly and yet you will find they are
all interconnected and are for the moment.

We need to understand we are not what God created us. When God created us
man (and woman), even though man was not clothed yet man never felt naked,
he also had access to the Garden of Eden which is Heaven (there are two
gardens mentioned in Genesis 2). It was sin that caused him to see his
nakedness and restrict his access to Heaven. There are people who
misunderstand this and thus go in a different direction and promote nudity
or nude churches; they forget scriptures which state God hates our
nakedness.

To understand what we will become is to understand transfiguration. Jesus
transfigured not to show us His power; it was the least of His ability as
God. What He demonstrated was His ability as man and as not God, but not a
man like us but a man that overcame and renewed (He also did it so as to
not sin talking to the dead /asleep in the Lord as a man). It is an ability
what we will have when ‘man’ (collectively) overcomes sin. Paul tells us on
Judgment Day / Jesus’ second coming those who are dead in Christ will rise
as transformed and those who are yet alive while do so without dying.
Transfiguration or spiritual transformation is a spiritual uplifting
(promotion) to be a greater being (man is lowest of the beings). Jesus said
it is of the level of an Angel, when He said in our resurrection we will be
as the Angels. Even Rapture is not a physical lifting up but a spiritual
lifting which means transfiguration or spiritual transformation, so one
will not find any fallen clothes or anything like that, but just some
people missing. This does not happen to all Believers but to a select
numbered lot who are called to come along with the Lord Jesus Christ
(including others from the times of Noah) in His second coming. This
happens just after the incident of the two witnesses explained in
Revelation 11.

Salvation is both a personal and collective task. We are counted in the
flock by our personal choice of choosing the Lord Jesus Christ as our
personal Lord and Savior, by this we get into the transformation process
with the help of His Spirit. Since we enter Heaven as one Body ‘Bride’ we
cannot be self-centric and that is why we need to do the Will of the Father
of bringing others, those whom He has also called into the Body, and build
them spiritually.

Let us understand our choice to be a Christian is a very small part of our
salvation. As a Christian we are called to connect to others who are also
called to of Christ. If we are not among those who reach out then we
ourselves will not be part of the Body, for Jesus clearly said those who do
not do the Will of the Father will be rejected by Him and being unknown to
Him.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Awesome God. When You created mere man You baffled the minds
of the fallen angels as to how this mere man will overcome them and take
hold of the Heavenly place lost by them, how the Heavenly Temple is
restored. Lord we pray we understand You have made us for greater things
than enjoying the things of this world...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Mark 9:2 And after six days Jesus taketh with him Peter, and James, and
John, and leadeth them up into an high mountain apart by themselves: and he
was transfigured before them.

Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by
the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and
acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

1 Thessalonians 4:16-17
16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the
voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ
shall rise first:
17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with
them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be
with the Lord.

Mark 12:25 For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor
are given in marriage; but are as the angels which are in heaven.

Matthew 7:21-23
21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the
kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in
heaven.
22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in
thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many
wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye
that work iniquity.

Revelation 21:22 And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty
and the Lamb [comes from the word ‘aren’ which means man] are the temple of
it.

Fasting in religions

Acts 23:12 And when it was day, certain of the Jews banded together, and
bound themselves under a curse, saying that they would neither eat nor
drink till they had killed Paul.

Islam is very famous for their 30days of fasting period known as Ramadan.
Muslims think it was in these days that the Quran was revealed to their
prophet. It is for this reason the last 10days (called ‘Days / Nights of
Power’) are considered most holy by them (especially the 27th night) where
rewards are multiplied, so the radical Muslims find it the most apt days to
kill infidels (people of other faiths), even Muslims of other sects whom
they consider as gone astray. Also if they die doing this they consider it
as greatest privilege. Muslims do not know Ramadan was an ancient pagan
Arab ritual which Mohammed could not stop so incorporated it into Islam.

Fasting in Jainism is considered amongst most extreme, the Muslims at least
do night shifts (eat 1.5 times in the night) but Jains do not even drink
water for days together, even their own spit is forbidden by some. They are
the extreme picture of what Catholics do during 40 days of ‘Lent’ [a pagan
ritual incorporated into Catholicism]. Their fasting is part of penance and
penance is done when they is no savior or hope. Jainism is understandable
for it is primarily an atheist religion but I do not know where Catholicism
falls. They call themselves Christian but do the contrary.

Like praying on beads is a stronghold among pagan religions, so also is
fasting. Its hold is so great that scriptures from the NT were modified
after almost a 1000years to include. Matthew 17:21 is an added verse while
the words ‘and fasting’ was added later in Mark 9:29.

Fasting in the Bible is a tool to increase faith, it is not a tool to fight
against God, or get extra credits from God. Biblically the ability to fast
is a grace received from God, so one does not do it by one’s strength. Paul
fasted but when his faith was strengthened he stopped. In the case of
Jesus, He was led by the Holy Spirit to fast in the wilderness for 2
reasons. Firstly He did it so that He would qualify to preach in the
Synagogues as a Rabbi (on lines of Moses); else He would have had to be a
student under another Rabbi for a period of many years (like Paul Saul was
doing - according to the school of Samuel). The second reason was that
Jesus would be broken / weakened spiritually so as to be tempted by Satan.
Satan would not dare tempt Jesus in normal circumstances but did only when
He was weakened in the wilderness. Jesus had to be tempted by Satan with
the same 3 temptations which Adam and Eve underwent so as to show us how to
overcome Satan via the Word.

We need to understand our spiritual health is co-related to our natural
health. If we live an unhealthy natural life, it will affect our spiritual
life. Those who fast regularly are not spiritually strong but on contrary
spiritually misled. We need to understand when and why we need to fast.
Fasting can be a powerful tool to grow in faith but if used otherwise it
can become a spiritual bondage.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Holy and Mighty God. You are Spirit and desire your people to
worship You in spirit and truth. Things of the flesh or works of the flesh
do not please You. Lord we pray we are led by your Spirit when it comes to
fasting. May we know when and why we need to fast. May we remember we do
not fast by our own strength but by the grace given by You...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Matthew 17:21 [Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.]

Mark 9:29 And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but
by prayer [and fasting].

Mark 8:3 And if I send them away fasting to their own houses, they will
faint by the way: for divers of them came from far.

Matthew 3:1-3
1 Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of
the devil.
2 And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an
hungred.
3 And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God,
command that these stones be made bread.

Luke 4:13-15
13 And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him
for a season.
14 And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there
went out a fame of him through all the region round about.
15 And he taught in their synagogues, being glorified of all.

Basic character is very important for a Church Leader

Titus 1:6 If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful
children not accused of riot or unruly.

Some years back when I was ministering at a Church in the slum areas of
Mumbai, after the service I was taken to the house of one of their Church
elders / leaders for dinner. When I reached there I was taken back to see,
that person had 2 wives and children from both. He was an important
contributor to that Church so things like these were over looked.

Today’s scripture says very clearly that any Church leader or Bishop
(Pastor) should be a person who has just one wife. His character should be
unquestionable and so also the bringing up of his children. The scripture
does not hold him responsible for the character of his wife but only of
himself and his children.

There are many Men and Women of God whose partner is not in the Lord, they
believe in Christ but are not baptized in the Holy Spirit. Even such people
can be selected to be as leaders. But if his or her children are not bought
up in the Lord then they should not be considered. If we as parents cannot
handle a mind that is growing, then how are we to be considered to handle a
hardened mind?

Just of late I came very hard on an anointed Man of God for his failure to
handle his own child that too when warned in advance. ‘Love’ for the child
should not be the cause of destruction of the child, such ‘love’ is not
called love but is like sweet poison that one gives to one’s own loved
ones. We become enemies of our own dear ones.

Let us understand the importance of good parenting. Let us know how
important it is to cultivate in them good values according to the Kingdom
of God. They should be walking in light and not in darkness.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are loving Father. Your love for your children is beyond measure
yet You lord do not restrain from correcting your children. You truly love
them thus desire good for them. Lord, help us understand the importance of
being good parents...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scritures]
Titus 1:5-9
5 For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order
the things that were wanting, and appoint elders in every city, as I gave
thee charge;
6 if any man is blameless, the husband of one wife, having children that
believe, who are not accused of riot or unruly.
7 For the bishop must be blameless, as God’s steward; not self-willed, not
soon angry, no brawler, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre;
8 but given to hospitality, a lover of good, sober-minded, just, holy,
self-controlled;
9 holding to the faithful word which is according to the teaching, that he
may be able to exhort in the sound doctrine, and to convict the gainsayers.

1 Timothy 3:2-8
2 A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant,
sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;
3 Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient,
not a brawler, not covetous;
4 One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection
with all gravity;
5 (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care
of the church of God?)
6 Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the
condemnation of the devil.
7 Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he
fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.
8 Likewise must the deacons be grave, not doubletongued, not given to much
wine, not greedy of filthy lucre;

Bring disobedience into obedience

2 Corinthians 10:5,6 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that
exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity
every thought to the obedience of Christ; And having in a readiness to
revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.

The famous verse 2 Corinthians 10:4 which talks of spiritual warfare is
quoted by many and they think we battle against others, against evil
spirits and against Satan.

If we look at today’s message which follows it, the verses starts with
casting down imaginations and bringing every high thing that exalteth
itself against the knowledge of God. Now where are these high imaginations?
Where are these things that exalt themselves against the knowledge of God?

These things are within us, they dwell in ‘thoughts’ for the scripture goes
on to say ‘bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of
Christ’. It talks of ‘our’ thoughts for verse 2 Paul talks of presenting
ourselves not as carnal people delighting in pleasures of the flesh but
people delighting in the things of the Spirit.

Christians need to refocus their strategy and instead of chasing Satan or
evil spirits they need to work against the loose and unholy thoughts that
come up within themselves. They need to fight their thoughts by
enlightening themselves with the truth of the Word. They need to overcome
their desires for the pleasures of this world and seek to live a sober life.

Let us understand our spiritual battle is not against evil spirits or
against evil people. Our spiritual battle is against our own spirit being
that delights in the pleasures of this world. Let us take the one weapon
that works and that is the sword of Truth of the Word.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Holy God. As your children You desire us to be holy for You
are Holy. Lord we pray we understand to be holy (separated from evil) we
need to know the Truth; it is only our perseverance for the truth and our
walk in righteousness that will led us to a life of holiness. Help us to
refocus our strategy of our spiritual warfare...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
2 Corinthians 10:2-4
2 But I beseech you, that I may not be bold when I am present with that
confidence, wherewith I think to be bold against some, which think of us as
if we walked according to the flesh.
3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:
4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God
to the pulling down of strong holds;)

1 Thessalonians 5:8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on
the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.

The lawless ones

2 Thessalonians 2:8 And then shall that Wicked [lawless one] be revealed,
whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy
with the brightness of his coming:

Tomorrow the world will be celebrating Halloween. This event started about
2000 years back in Ireland by the Celts as the feast of Samhain. The Celts
believed in a world of the dead and wanted to connect to this world. In the
later years this was celebrated on the 1st of November. This event was so
famous that Pope Gregory III designated November 1 as a day to remember all
dead Catholic saints. The Catholics later to honor both moved Halloween to
a day before.

Like Christmas (birthday of the Sun god celebrated as birth of Christ) both
31st Oct and 1st Nov have become famous because of all the rituals
connected with them. The prime drive for both is to do the forbidden -
lawlessness.

In today’s message we read of the cherub who instigated darkness in the
Heavens and caused the fall of a third of the Angels will be released from
Hell in the end days. He being the father of lawlessness is called the
lawless one.

Like the children of God are identified as having the seed of faith,
similarly the children of Satan are identified by the seed of lawlessness.
Like their father they love to do the forbidden. They delight in lies and
deceit.

The Catholic Church had distorted the image of Christ and the relationship
between the man Jesus Christ and God the Son, His Spirit - the Holy Spirit
and the Father, this distortion we carry even today; similarly they have
distorted the image of Satan which we also carry. Most Christians do not
follow scriptures but follow more that which is told to them by man. They
fail to realize the word ‘Satan’ in the Bible (OT) is a plural word and
thus they do not figure how Lucifer being bound in Hell is yet with us. We
have many scriptures like Ezekiel 28:1-19 and Rev 17:8 (and many more)
which give clues of how we are deceived by the deceiver in identifying
him.

Today message tells us there will be no physical battle when the Lord comes
as conceived by man (RC Church penned this into us by their illustrations).
It says the radiance of the coming of the Son of Man (Lord Jesus Christ)
with His Angels and His Shout (declaring Who He Is) is that which will
close this chapter of the existence of evil; when evil is done with so also
death will be done with, since evil bought death into existence.

What is important to see here is the effortless defeat of evil by Truth
(Light and knowing Who Lord is). We struggle with spirits and their deeds
because we lack the Truth.

The scripture Matthew 17:21 (and addition of the word ‘fasting’ to Mark
9:29) was added into the Bible almost a thousand years later just to make
man to believe efforts are required in spiritual battles, that is why many
new translations have omitted it. Christ battled not to defeat Satan but to
save us from his hands. We battle not with evil spirits but with our own
spiritual / carnal nature (our old man).

People who celebrate death, be it Halloween or All Saints Day or All Souls
Day are people who celebrate evil. They show they are the children of their
father who will be overcome by the Lord in His coming.

The sword of Truth is all that is needed to win the battle with darkness
and death. Let us not waste time but focus on holding the sword of Truth,
for as soon as we get hold of it fully, we will have victory.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord, You alone are True, thus your Word is True. You are light and
darkness cannot stand before You. When darkness came into existence You
made mere man to be the light that overcomes this darkness. You gave time
for the fallen but their end is already written and nothing can change it.
Lord we thank You for your Word which is mightier than any weapon. We pray
we hold on to your Word stronger...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Ezekiel 28:1-19

Revelation 17:8 The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall
ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that
dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book
of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that
was, and is not, and yet is.

1 Thessalonians 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a
shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the
dead in Christ shall rise first:

Matthew 17:21 [KJV] Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and
fasting

Mark 9:29 [KJV] And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing,
but by prayer and fasting.

Mark 9:29 [ASV] And he said unto them, This kind can come out by nothing,
save by prayer.

Misuse of authority can cause destruction

2 Corinthians 10:8 For though I should boast [glory] somewhat more of our
authority, which the Lord hath given us for edification, and not for your
destruction, I should not be ashamed:

There are many times we see people not walking in the ways of the Lord yet
doing great miracles, healings and prophecies that come true very
accurately.

Many years back when I was yet a Catholic I was involved with Charismatic
groups or people and had some very close ones who were very gifted. When my
eyes opened to the Truth I asked the Lord how these people were doing what
they did when they do not know Him. They were disciples of ‘Mother Mary’
more than of Jesus Christ. He then showed me an example during that time, a
very well-known Catholic prophetess whom people called literally on a daily
basis to enquire what was set for them, for the day. Irrespective of where
they lived they called. They did this for she was very accurate in her
prophecies.

One day it happened, her own daughter who was studying and living in a
hostel died of drugs overdose and she who could see others’ lives and
events could not see her own daughter was in drugs since long, a thing
parents without gifting can see. This thing was like a slap on her face for
misusing her Spiritual Gifts and Calling for her own glory.

I can go on with many such cases where people have misused their Calling in
the Lord for their own glory and have experienced the wrath of God.

Bible is very clear, what is the Lord’s, needs to be given to Him. When we
do miracles in His Name, it is not us but His Name that does it, so we
cannot take credit for it. Can a vessel take credit if the master uses it
to quench the thirst of the thirsty?

Today’s message we see Paul speaks of glory in authority which is for
edification and nothing else. If this authority is not for edification then
it can be a path for destruction, both of the person ministering, and the
persons ministered to.

Let us not be a cause of our own destruction and the destruction of those
whom we lead in the Lord. Let us understand we are just vessels and holy
vessels. Vessels by oneself are nothing but have importance when the master
uses for great things. Let us use all that Lord has given us to glorify
Him, and for the edification of His people.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are God and source of all goodness. You alone are good Lord for
only goodness flows from You. You Lord value your Name and your Word above
all things. When people touch your glory they go against your Name and your
Word thus come in your wrath. Lord we pray we do not misuse the Spiritual
Gifts and our Calling in You for our glory but for the glory of your Name
and your Word...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Matthew 6:13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Matthew 16:27 For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father
with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.

John 17:22 And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they
may be one, even as we are one:

1 Corinthians 1:29,31
29 That no flesh should glory in his presence.
31 That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in
the Lord.

Is the Bible Anti-Karma

Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according
to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of
the Holy Spirit;

A couple of days back as part of the Gideons ministry I was at a stall put
by Gideons at a fair; the people who came and were suggested to take a copy
of the NT to read it would mostly say ‘all religions are the same’; they
all spoke of good works and how to please God by being good. I would then
point to them it is wrong, the Bible on the contrary says the good works of
man are like dirty rags before God, only God is good and man not being good
cannot produce good fruits, the Bible says God works in man and through man
to bring forth good works and good fruits.

This would cause them to take a copy of the NT so as to read it. Today’s
message speaks exactly the same.

A question we find most ask ‘is a Christian called for good works’? The
answer is ‘YES’.

Today’s message does not deny good works but speaks against works of
righteousness. When man does not have the Fruit of Righteousness since he
does not know the whole Truth thus he the works of true righteousness are
far from him. We are by faith called righteous because we pursue His
righteousness.

N number of times I hear people speak of grace but do not know the meaning
of grace. Grace is all the mercy we need to get a particular job done.
Grace is gained only through faith and grace is not blanket to all areas.
As we have faith in an area we also see the grace of God gets activated in
that area. So grace to be saved is by our faith in the Savior, grace to be
healed is by our faith in His sacrifice, grace to walk in His ways is by
our faith that He walks with us... so on... as we exercise faith we receive
grace...

Today’s message is mostly read in part, most read till the words ‘according
to His mercy He saved us’ and stop there. The scripture does talk of the
grace of God but also tells us what this grace is for. The scripture points
out to two things the grace is for, one is ‘washing of regeneration’ and
the other is ‘renewing of the Holy Spirit’.

Not getting too deep into the words, the words ‘washing of regeneration’
speaks of purification of our fruits. It speaks of how God changes the
fruits we produce into the Fruits of the Holy Spirit. It means we grow the
Fruits of the Spirit. The second point ‘renewing of the Holy Spirit’ speaks
of us maturing or growing in the Holy Spirit. These both points are
interrelated and inter dependent. That means our producing Fruits of the
Spirit depends on our growth in the Spirit. The more we grow in the Spirit
the more the Fruits of the Spirit we produce and the more the Fruits we
produce the more we grow. The spiral growth starts with a gift and that
gift is faith (also called seed of faith). This gift grows into a Fruit
when we die and come alive in Him (like a seed does). It is by our faith in
Christ we receive the promise of the Holy Spirit and it is by our surrender
to the Spirit that we receive Him and step on this spiral growth.

It is true we are saved by grace but only through faith. If we do not have
faith and retain that faith can we claim to be under grace? Also if we are
not growing in Fruits of the Spirit then we will not grow in grace and if
grace is not growing in us, can we be assured of grace forever. We need to
understand grace is until Judgment day (or till we sleep) and if we have
not exercised this grace and grown in Spirit, will be able to pass the
judgment?

[Prayer Starter]
Lord, You are eternal God, You were, are and will always be. Even though
You do not change yet your glory grows from glory to glory for You are
always doing great things. We who are called your children too need to be
growing in spirit and if we are not growing can we continue to be called
your children? Lord we pray we inspect our spiritual growth and do the
correction we need...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Ephesians 5:26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of
water by the word,

Job 9:20 If I justify myself, mine own mouth shall condemn me: if I say, I
am perfect, it shall also prove me perverse.

Psalms 143:2 And enter not into judgment with thy servant: for in thy
sight shall no man living be justified.

Romans 11:6 And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace
is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace:
otherwise work is no more work.

Romans 3:20,28
20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in
his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.
28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the
deeds of the law.

Ephesians 2:8 for by grace have ye been saved through faith; and that not
of yourselves, it is the gift of God;

James 2:20,22,24,26
20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith apart from works is barren?
22 Thou seest that faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith
made perfect;
24 Ye see that by works a man is justified, and not only by faith.
26 For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, even so faith apart from
works is dead.

Revelation 2:19 I know thy works, and thy love and faith and ministry and
patience, and that thy last works are more than the first.

The Three Fruits which we can neither earn nor grow

Ephesians 5:9 (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and
righteousness and truth;)

There are some truths which will change the way we see the Kingdom of God
throughout the Churches. People may say did not the great Bible teachers
till date know these things, how could they make such mistakes?

The first principle of Bible study is that one cannot understand the Bible
unless the Lord reveals it. What is revealed can be shared and understood.
So as the Lord reveals to various men and women of God, the Church grows in
the knowledge and understanding of God and His Kingdom.

Paul who was considered one of the most knowledgeable in scriptures,
himself confessed what he knew was little and everyday he grew in
understanding of the scriptures. He confessed as he knew more he got a
clearer view of things, it wasn’t that he erred before, but meant he saw
little of the larger picture. Today’s message is one of the things which
Paul understood as he grew and that which we have yet not understood.

We have always spoken of nine Fruits of the Holy Spirit but no one has
given a thought to the three which Paul himself records in today’s message.
One may ask did Paul forget the three Fruits when he wrote to the Church of
Galatia. No.

If we read Galatians 2:24 it says these are the Fruits which we grow when
we crucify the flesh. These three which Paul stated in Ephesians are those
Fruits which are gifts and not by crucifying the flesh. The Fruit recorded
here as ‘all goodness’ / ‘every goodness’, it refers to heavenly holiness.
This Fruits is only with the Father which Jesus Himself said in Mark 10:18.
This Fruits is what we receive from the Heavenly Father, the Fruit of
righteousness we receive from the Son and the Fruit of Truth we receive
from the Holy Spirit (Spirit of Truth). These are received in the reverse
order. That means only when the Truth is complete in us will we receive the
Righteousness of Christ (this is not to be mistaken to the righteous which
is get by keeping the Law / Commandments of the Lord - since we know little
we abide by the little). It is only when we receive the Righteousness of
Christ (on Judgment Day) we get to go to Heaven and receive the Fruit of
Holiness from Father.

The Twelve Fruits of the Holy Spirit are very essential for the
understanding of the Kingdom of God since the Tree of Life which gives
eternal life (ability to live eternally as long as we have access to it)
has these 12 Fruits. Even the twelve stones which Heaven is made of, alike
to the twelve stones by which the tribes of Israel were segregated by and
bases of the Twelve Apostles are all related to the Twelve Fruits of the
Holy Spirit.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord, in Heaven You are proclaimed endlessly as Holy, Holy, Holy. You alone
are Holy and none is Holy. Lord You await to give us this Fruit of Holiness
when we received the Righteousness of your Son, and the Truth of the
Spirit. Truly your Word say the Truth does set us free when we seek Christ
and are led by His Spirit...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Galatians 5:22-24
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering,
gentleness, goodness, faith,
23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
24 And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections
and lusts.

Ephesians 3:5 Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men,
as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit;

Colossians 1:26 Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from
generations, but now is made manifest to his saints:

1 Corinthians 13:11-12
11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I
thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I
know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

Mark 10:18 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good
save one, even God.

Who establishes our hearts unblameable in holiness?

1 Thessalonians 3:13 To the end he may stablish your hearts unblameable in
holiness before God, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus
Christ with all his saints.

In our last message the Lord spoke to us that He knows each and everyone’s
heart, as to what will be the finished product and He has chosen us accord
to our hearts. Today’s message tells us that it is the Lord who establishes
our hearts blameless in holiness before God.

For a Christian he or she needs to know one cannot become a good human
being by one’s own efforts. We are unlike other religions which believe in
penance or punishing one’s self to change, become better (our fasting and
prayer is not to change our character or penance but to increase our
faith).

Any Christian who punishes oneself or another for doing wrong is not truly
a Christian. Correction may be done but not punishment. We need to
understand change happens from above that is why Bible says only those who
are born from above will enter the Kingdom of God.

What is interesting in today’s message is to understand as to who does the
change in us?

The verse says ‘HE’ ‘establishes our hearts unblameable in holiness before
God even the Father’, so it is not God the Heavenly Father who does the
change in us, also the verse goes on to say ‘at the coming of our Lord
Jesus Christ’. So it says that the ‘HE’ is also not Jesus Christ.

After resurrection Jesus left us to go to Heaven so that He could send us
His Spirit. Our receiving His Spirit was so critical that Jesus Himself
stepped aside. If one really understands sin and how we are forgiven and
saved will understand the prime importance of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ
was to make a way for us to receive His Spirit. Jesus became the Way to
Heaven and His Spirit is the one who takes us along the Way.

It is only when Christians wake up and build their relationship with the
Holy Spirit will they become true Christians. If Jesus Christ gave
importance to the Holy Spirit and stepped aside, then why are we not
focused on building our relationship with the Holy Spirit? Bible clearly
says only those who are led by the Holy Spirit will become Sons of God and
will get to enter the Kingdom of God.

If you and I want to go to Heaven we need to allow the Holy Spirit to work
in us and through us so as to change us. Our doing the work of the Kingdom
of God as led by His Spirit is more to change us as it is to change others.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord, You are Holy God and You desire a pure heart. Lord let us realize we
cannot change ourselves; it is only You who can change through your Spirit.
You made a way for us to receive your Spirit by taking your wrath due on us
on your own self. You made peace between man and You, thus we received the
promise of the Holy Spirit. Lord we pray we hold on to your Spirit and walk
in His way so that we are transfigured into Sons of God...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
John 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be
born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

John 16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that
I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but
if I depart, I will send him unto you.

John 15:26-27
26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the
Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he
shall testify of me:
27 And ye also shall bear witness, because ye have been with me from the
beginning.

Galatians 5:18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.

Romans 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons
of God.

Romans 8:19 For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the
manifestation of the sons of God.

Matthew 12:24-25
24 And Jesus answering said unto them, Do ye not therefore err, because ye
know not the scriptures, neither the power of God?
25 For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are
given in marriage; but are as the angels which are in heaven.

Putting God away

Acts 17: 24 God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he
is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;

We see man associates evil spirits / demons to darkness so when it is night
they start think demons come out and when the light is on / it is day they
think they are safe.

One needs to give it a thought do demons fear natural light? If that was
the case then we could have just flashed flashlights on people to deliver
them from evil spirits. It is our fear that demons play upon and we
foolishly apply the same logic to God, when the lights go off or it is dark
we think God is not there that is why fear enters us and thus demons get a
free hand.

Man making temples is another foolishness of man. David asked God if he
could make one but then when God enlightened him, he refrained from doing
the same, but Solomon who is considered the most wise man did this
foolishness like he did by worshipping pagan goddesses in the later part of
his life.

It is ironic people make monuments as temples and call them ‘churches’ /
‘house of God’ even though the word is referred to people and not to
structures. Today’s scriptures states God does not dwell in monuments and
structure but in people. God is Spirit (Life), God is Love; can structures
have life, do they love? It is when we have the life of God in us (seek His
way of life) we can say the Spirit of God dwells in us. It is when we truly
love that we can say God dwells in us. Similarly when the Fruits of the
Holy Spirit exist in us we can say God is in us.

People make temples so that they can put God away. They claim God dwells in
these structures so that when they leave those structures they assume God
is left behind. Let us not point fingers as non-Christians in regards to
this, for we Christians also do this. Sunday to Sunday we state we are
going to the ‘House of God’ and when we leave it we think God is no longer
with us and thus is not seeing what we do. It is this reason we have
Sundays ‘holy’ Christians and other days ‘worldly’ Christians.

We cannot fool God or put Him away for He is omnipresent and there is no
place He is not there. Like David realized even if he went to Hell, he will
not be able to flee from God. Jonah did not flee from God when he took the
ship to Tarshish, he was fleeing from the task God gave him all because he
hated the people of Nineveh.

It is evil within us that cause us to make temple in the name of God. Let
us put aside this evil and be the temple of God. Let the true light of God
shine in us, a light which no darkness can consume.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord, You are Spirit and all life comes from You for You alone are the
giver of life. Lord You are omnipresent yet You choose to call man your
temple all because You created man in your image and You desire your glory
be manifested on man. We pray Lord we seek and gain back the image You
created us in. We pray we seek restoration, true repentance so that we be
you temple and your glory is manifested on us...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Psalms 139:8 If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed
in hell, behold, thou art there.

Matthew 12:6 But I say unto you, That in this place is one greater than
the temple.

Matthew 23:16 Woe unto you, ye blind guides, which say, Whosoever shall
swear by the temple, it is nothing; but whosoever shall swear by the gold
of the temple, he is a debtor!

1 Corinthians 3:16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the
Spirit of God dwelleth in you?

1 Corinthians 6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the
Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

Matthew 18:20 For where two or three are gathered together in my name,
there am I in the midst of them.

R.D SOUZA Saved by faith - Page 18 Empty Re: R.D SOUZA Saved by faith

We against ourselves

2 Corinthians 10:12 For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or
compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring
themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are
not wise.

One thing most Christians miss is, against whom they are battling or whom
they are overcoming. True there are scriptures like Ephesians 6:12 in which
Paul states that we battle not against flesh and blood but against
spiritual powers on high, but they choose to ignore scriptures like Romans
6:6 wherein Paul states we put our sinful man to death through faith in
Christ so that we do not serve the power of sin.

Many Christians do foolishness by chasing or battling Satan (plural) and
its goons (evil spirits). Jesus and Paul spoke of overcoming Satan but did
not go about chasing Satan. Both concentrated on overcoming the powers of
Satan in us.

We need to get it within us that, nor we or angels can kill a spirit, even
God does not do it. Spiritual death means isolation from God until ones
spirit life ends. Isolation or being far from God means suffering and slow
destruction. Hell came into existence when sin did. Peter accurately
describes Hell as a prison where a soul (soul is part of a spirit) is
confined into total isolation (endless pit) and where it suffers it sins
(fire burn within the being). It is for this reason evil spirits fear Hell.

Satan wants to destroy us all because it does not want us to receive that
which God has set for us in Heaven. Even though they know in a period of
time they is due their punishment yet they try their best to make us fail
our reward. Satan has already succeeded in inducing sin in us and thus
corrupting the nature of God in us. So even though the battle is about
fight Satan (its nature) yet the battle is within us and is all about
overcoming the corruption of sin. It is not just about stopping sin from
doing more damage, it is more about restoring the damage already done. The
quicker the later process takes place it will stop the prior process from
happening. That means the quicker we restore the nature of God (Christ) in
us the more sin nature will not have hold on us and then sin will die.

We, Christians as a one family, one body do not just fight our battle
within but are also called to guide and support others in their battle.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are a Merciful God. In your mercy and wisdom You separated sinful
man so that we may get another opportunity to be restored and receive that
which Satan does not want us to receive. We know Lord through You and in
You our victory is already written. Lord we pray we hold on to your Name in
us. That we live our lives more like You and less like our sinful nature
leads us to. We pray we understand the battle better and fight it better...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Ephesians 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against
principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this
world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Romans 6:6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the
body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

Romans 12:21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

1 John 4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because
greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

Revelation 2:7 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith
unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of
life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.

Forsake worldly nets and take up spiritual nets

Mark 1:18 And straightway they forsook their nets, and followed him.

In today’s scripture we read about Simon the son of Jona whom Jesus called
Cephas (translated as Peter in Greek) and his brother Andrew, while they
were fishing Jesus asked them to give up their business, their livelihood,
and become His disciple to which they readily and immediately abide. In the
very next scripture we find they went a little ahead they find John and
James, sons of Zebedee who also do the same at Jesus’ request.

If we go into the background this moment was not the first interaction of
Simon and Andrew with Jesus. This followed the events mentioned in the
Gospel of John where they met Jesus while they were disciples of John the
Baptist. More interesting fact was even thought John and James were closely
related to Jesus yet He chose to reach out to Simon Peter and his brother
(John and James were sons of Salome sister of His mother and wife of
Zebedee, whom out of love and respect Jesus called by His mother’s name).

Simon was a hardcore business addict and we see after Jesus’ death and
before Simon Peter’s encounter with resurrected Jesus, Peter had gone back
to his fishing business. We read he was so lost in his work that he did not
give attention to his state of clothing (they had fallen off). We also read
Jesus rebuked Simon Peter for asking Him to pay worldly religious dues,
Jesus instructed him to catch a fish using a fishing rod instead of a net.
For Simon Peter nothing was more humiliating than that, since it was like
sending a college student back to primary school.

Today’s message asks us if we are ready to leave the most important desires
or our livelihood to work for the Kingdom of God, or are we going to be
like the young rich man who tried to be good but loved the world more than
he loved God.

If we want God then let us be willing to leave everything of this world for
God. If we do not do this, but hold on to things, people, desires,
positions, fame etc. then we will neither have them nor have God. But if we
surrender our lives to God then we will have God and also have the things
we desire (as far as they are in the Will of God and not harmful unto us),
for it is the Lord who provides everything.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are our God and our Creator. You made us and everything that
exist. You made things according to your image and according to ‘their’
image so that we discern things and chose You over others. Lord, help us
discern and understand the purpose of life and not lose the purpose in aim
of enjoying a worldly life of carnal pleasures...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
John 1:40 One of the two which heard John speak, and followed him, was
Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother.

Mark 1:16-20
16 Now as he walked by the sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew his
brother casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers.
17 And Jesus said unto them, Come ye after me, and I will make you to
become fishers of men.
18 And straightway they forsook their nets, and followed him.
19 And when he had gone a little further thence, he saw James the son of
Zebedee, and John his brother, who also were in the ship mending their nets.
20 And straightway he called them: and they left their father Zebedee in
the ship with the hired servants, and went after him.

John 21:7 Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved saith unto Peter, It is
the Lord. Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he girt his
fisher’s coat unto him, (for he was naked,) and did cast himself into the
sea.

Mark 17:24-27
24 And when they were come to Capernaum, they that received tribute money
came to Peter, and said, Doth not your master pay tribute?
25 He saith, Yes. And when he was come into the house, Jesus prevented
him, saying, What thinkest thou, Simon? of whom do the kings of the earth
take custom or tribute? of their own children, or of strangers?
26 Peter saith unto him, Of strangers. Jesus saith unto him, Then are the
children free.
27 Notwithstanding, lest we should offend them, go thou to the sea, and
cast an hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast
opened his mouth, thou shalt find a piece of money: that take, and give
unto them for me and thee.

Matthew 10:37 He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy
of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

Matthew 19:23 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you,
That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven.

Luke 16:13 No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the
one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the
other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

Boarding Adramyttium

Acts 27:2 And entering into a ship of Adramyttium, we launched, meaning to
sail by the coasts of Asia; one Aristarchus, a Macedonian of Thessalonica,
being with us.

When asked those who have succeeded, most will tell us that the secret of
their success is that they overcame the fear of failure. When we fear
failure we create a hurdle for our success and most of the time we become
the cause of our failure.

As worldly people we may have limitation to our success but as Christians
we can do all things when we are in Christ. Being ‘in Christ’ does not mean
just believing in Christ but means living a life as per the teachings of
Jesus’ Christ, as Paul says ‘put on Christ’. When we put on Christ we are
taught by His Spirit and it is the Truth that helps us overcome and takes
us to victory even in the worse situations.

In today’s message Paul was boarding a ship which he knew was going to take
him to Rome and where he would be martyred. Ironically the name of the ship
was Adramyttium which in Greek means "I shall abide in death". Paul
overcame the fear of death for he knew life and that natural death was not
an end to life.

Natural death for us Christian should be like removing the milk tooth of a
child. We know when the milk tooth falls then the new permanent tooth comes
in its place, but then we do not remove the tooth any time, we need to let
it grow it timespan and only when its end comes we rejoice its fall even in
the pain.

The overcoming of fear of death by Paul took Paul to his greatest span of
his ministry which is to minister to the Romans in Rome. It was this event
that helped take Christianity to the whole world.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord, You are Almighty God. You made us in spirit and put us in this body
of flesh which is made of dust, so that we overcome this dust to be lifted
in spirit to greater level. Unless we are born again in spirit we have no
right to inherit the Kingdom You have set for us in You. Lord, help us
overcome the fear of death, so that we willingly die every day to ourselves
and also happily accept our natural death as it comes. Help us concentrate
on living a fruitful life more than fearing its end...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

John 5:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and
believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come
into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

Romans 6:4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that
like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even
so we also should walk in newness of life.

Romans 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me
free from the law of sin and death.

2 Corinthians 4:11-14
11 For we which live are alway delivered unto death for Jesus’ sake, that
the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh.
12 So then death worketh in us, but life in you.
13 We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I
believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak;
14 Knowing that he which raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also
by Jesus, and shall present us with you.

Philippians 3:8 Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the
excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have
suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win
Christ,

The Strong Survive

Luke 11:22 But when a stronger than he shall come upon him, and overcome
him, he taketh from him all his armour wherein he trusted, and divideth his
spoils.

We have heard the jungle rule ‘only the strong survive’; incidentally this
is also the case in the spiritual world.

One may say we are saved by grace so then this rule contradicts grace.

We forget the fact that grace comes through faith so one needs have faith,
keep it and build faith. Building faith needs exercising our spiritual body
like a man doing body building needs to daily work out in the spiritual
gym, so also we need to go out and minister unto others. Thus faith
requires daily exercising to become strong. There are different types of
graces, grace according to the area it is needed and faith in that area
gets us grace in that area. It is this reason we hold on to promises in
that area to receive grace there. Thus we can conclude the spiritually
strong keep grace and grow in grace.

Today’s scripture reminds us not to take grace for granted and without
daily spiritual workout we may experience shaking in areas of our lives. So
let us be spiritually strong to be spiritually satisfied and at spiritual
peace.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are God and You are Holy. Yet Lord You allowed darkness to come to
existence so that your light may shine brighter through man by man
overcoming darkness. Help us Lord to understand we stand in a battle field
so that we may be prepared and be strong at every moment. Help us to work
our spiritual being and not just care for our natural being...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Romans 5:2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we
stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

Ephesians 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against
principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this
world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Galatians 6:1 Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are
spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering
thyself, lest thou also be tempted.

Colossians 1:9 For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not
cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the
knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;

Judging people

Psalms 35:24 Judge me, O LORD my God, according to thy righteousness; and
let them not rejoice over me.

Before coming to today’s message I like to clear one misconception that God
punishes us for our sins. God does punish but not for our sins but only
when we lift our head against Him, like bringing His Name down, touching
His glory etc...

If I go to afire and put my hand in the fire, can I blame the fire or the
person who created the fire for burning my hand?

Time and again God warned man on the consequences of sin but yet man sins.
It is the sin within us that causes the suffering. They firstly prevent the
blessings of God when we are alive and then become never dying sources of
pain and suffering for us if we go to Hell.

It is the mercy of God that keeps us from the suffering we are due. But God
being righteous cannot let this mercy nullify His righteousness so only
those who receive grace (all the mercy needed) are protected. Since this
grace is receive only by faith thus till we have faith we will receive
grace (mercy). If our faith is forever so will the mercy be. In short
though God’s mercy is forever but we need to avail of it.

Now coming to today’s message we read David asking God to judge him
according to the Lord’s righteousness and not let his enemies mock him.
David was not asking God to punish them but was asking God to hold back His
mercy so that their lives are shaken and they acknowledge God. Paul too did
this (NT records two incidents) when he said he surrendered some people
unto Satan. It was not that Paul had a deal or relationship with Satan, but
by disconnecting God’s protection / mercy on them, they would become open
for the tormenting by Satan so as to come to their senses.

This is not something we are called to do unless it is beyond our capacity.
So we need to do our best efforts to change people through the Fruits and
Gifts of the Holy Spirit. It is only when all fail, way beyond our capacity
that we ask God to judge them.

We should discern (judge) people mainly believers not with intention to
condemn them but to save them. With regards to unbelievers we are told they
are already judged and there is nothing that we (any human) can do to
change their destiny. Moses could not save the 1st generation Israelites
whom he bought out of Egypt, nor could Jesus save Judas.

Let God (Holy Spirit) reveal to us who has the seed of faith (has
incorruptible seed) and who does not (has corrupted seed). If we misjudge
we are told we will be answerable to God for the life of that person.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Holy and Righteous God. Nothing unholy can dwell in your
presence. It is by your mercy that You removed sinner man from your
presence so that he does not perish but gets a chance to change and return
unto You. Lord we thank You for your mercies and pray we do not take them
for granted and we do not deprive others of your mercy. We pray we
understand the value of our lives and lives of others and be led by your
Spirit in ministering unto them...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Psalms 35:24-28
24 Judge me, O LORD my God, according to thy righteousness; and let them
not rejoice over me.
25 Let them not say in their hearts, Ah, so would we have it: let them not
say, We have swallowed him up.
26 Let them be ashamed and brought to confusion together that rejoice at
mine hurt: let them be clothed with shame and dishonour that magnify
themselves against me.
27 Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favour my righteous cause:
yea, let them say continually, Let the LORD be magnified, which hath
pleasure in the prosperity of his servant.
28 And my tongue shall speak of thy righteousness and of thy praise all
the day long.

1 Corinthians 5:1-5
5 To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that
the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.

1 Timothy 1:20 Of whom is Hymenaeus and Alexander; whom I have delivered
unto Satan, that they may learn not to blaspheme.

Dying everyday

Romans 8:36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long;
we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.

When I tell people that Satan is after your life and wants to kill you,
they are not surprised, but when I tell them Satan wants you to enjoy life
or God is after your life and wants you to die, they get taken aback.

Satan wants us to enjoy this earthly life without any inhibition. He wants
us to surpass all carnal limits and boundaries so that we die our spiritual
death. It is only when we battle him that he turns aggressor. God on the
other hand wants us to kill our carnal desires and overcome them, so that
we are transformed and get to enter Heaven to live life eternally with
abundance.

We as Christians are called not only to die to ourselves every day to
overcome our worldly desires and our carnal nature but also die to
ourselves for the sake of others. In today’s message Paul recounts the
sacrifice he and his team did for the sake of the congregation.

The Lord is asking us, are we prepared to make sacrifice for others? It is
not about giving from the extra that we have, but about giving from the
little we have. God is telling us at the cost of our pleasure many give but
at the cost of our needs few give. Are we among those? This giving need not
be just finance, but things like service, time, personal desires etc...

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Merciful God. Even though it pained You yet for the sake of
your love for man You have sacrificed your glory and became man to suffer
for us. The suffering on the crucifix was just a small manifestation of
your love. The fact You loved us even before mankind knew You and became
our sacrifice even before we were made, speaks volumes of your love which
cannot be written or comprehended. Lord, show us to love like You...

This pray we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
1 Corinthians 7:5 Defraud ye not one the other, except it be with consent
for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come
together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency.

2 Corinthians 2:11,14
11 Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of
his devices.
14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

Romans 8:13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye
through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

Revelation 14:13 And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write,
Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the
Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow
them.

Luke 20:36 Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the
angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection.
