Making way for the Comforter

John 14: 26 But the Comforter, even the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will
send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring to your
remembrance all that I said unto you.

To check if a Christian has a sound understanding of the basics of
salvation there are a few questions I ask and one of them is, ‘why did
Jesus suffer and die on the cross for us’? The lukewarm Christians will
immediately reply ‘to pay the price for our sins’, it is only those who
really understand salvation will reply ‘so that we may receive His Spirit’.

We need to understand paying for the price for our sins was just a step
towards the actual purpose of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. God knows even
after coming to the knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ we will sin, so to
deal with the sin nature in us just His payment for our sins was not
sufficient.

Today’s message we read Jesus refers to the Holy Spirit as ‘the Comforter’.
The Greek word ‘parakletos’ has 3 meanings; counsel, assistant and
intercessor. If we look at Isaiah 9:6 the term Counsellor is used for
Christ. We see in Galatians 4:6 Paul states we are sons and inheritors of
God’s Kingdom only because we have received the Spirit of the Son. In
Paul’s letters he greets with words ‘Grace, mercy, and peace, from God our
Father and Jesus Christ our Lord’, not mentioning the Holy Spirit. Did Paul
not know the importance of the Holy Spirit? This is not the case with Paul
alone, we see even John does that in his letters. Scripture says our only
teacher is Christ and Jesus said the Holy Spirit will teach us.

When we use the term ‘Jesus’ we need to understand whom we are referring
to, when we use the term ‘Christ’ we need to know whom we are referring to
and when we use the term ‘Lord’ as in Lord Jesus Christ we need to know
whom we are referring to. Even though we speak of the same being yet we are
referring of the different persons / aspects in Him.

Bible says He became our sacrifice from the beginning of creation even
though He came as man Jesus just about 2000 years back. Bible says a part
of God humbled Himself and became man so that He may lift man up and
receive back His glory which He had in the beginning. So when the Son has
restored us will He still be the humbled man Jesus or will He behold His
former glory?

Yesterday’s message told us about Jesus departed from us yet Christ is with
us, today’s message touches on that aspect the multi dimensions of the Lord
Jesus Christ and how it happens. We need to understand how we are connected
with the man Jesus, with the savior Christ and with the Lord God the Son;
Bible uses the terms brother, associate and integral part of God the Son.

The fallen angels have the knowledge of Him but Jesus forbid them from
disclosing it to man. The Lord wants us to know from His Word through His
Spirit because just having knowledge is not sufficient, we need to have
understanding and understanding comes when wisdom works on knowledge or
when we experience what we know. Authority in the Name of Jesus comes not
when we know the Lord Jesus Christ but when we understand who He is.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You alone are God and there is none like You. When Jacob and Moses ask
your name, You said I AM WHO I AM. Lord may we know You and how You save
sinful man even though You being Holy and sin cannot exist before You. Lord
may we know You through our Lord Jesus Christ...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the
government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called
Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince
of Peace.

Galatians 4:6 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of
his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.

1 Timothy 1:2 Unto Timothy, my own son in the faith: Grace, mercy, and
peace, from God our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord.

2 Timothy 1:2, Titus 1:4

1 John 1:3 That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye
also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the
Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.

2 John 1:3

Hebrews 2:11 For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are
all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren,

John 15:15 Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not
what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends [associates]; for all
things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.

John 10:35 If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the
scripture cannot be broken;

Mark 3:10-12
10 For he had healed many; insomuch that they pressed upon him for to
touch him, as many as had plagues.
11 And unclean spirits, when they saw him, fell down before him, and
cried, saying, Thou art the Son of God.
12 And he straitly charged them that they should not make him known.

Departed yet with us

Philemon 1:15 For perhaps he therefore departed for a season, that thou
shouldest receive him for ever;

My Bible word study - that is going into the Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek word
and its grammar started all because of understanding the relationship
between the Father, Son and His Spirit. Bible says in John 1:18 no being
saw the Father other than the Son even though there are translation stating
the Father communicating and appearing to Men of God in the OT. Also there
were scriptures like where the Lord spoke to Moses from the burning bush
and the same incident is written as an Angel of the Lord spoke to Moses
from the burning bush. When asked people state it was the Angel who spoke
on behalf of the Lord, but we do not see any scripture where a Man of God
spoke on behalf of the Lord and it is written the Lord spoke directly to
that person. It also says Moses responded saying ‘Lord I am here’, was he
calling an Angel as Lord?

To understand these scriptures we need to go to the depth of the word and
in English translations this is just not possible.

Today’s scripture talks of Jesus Christ departed and seated in Heaven so as
to come at the end to Judge all mankind, after which He takes us all to
Heaven to dwell with Him forever. Yet we see scriptures which state He is
with us and scriptures where He appears many a times to people like Paul.
It is only when we really understand the Lord Jesus Christ will we
understand these scriptures.

Scriptures state there is power in the Name of Jesus. The Greek word
translated as name is ‘Onoma’ this word comes from the root meaning
‘authority’. One can only have authority in the Name of Jesus when one
knows Jesus Christ well. Let us not be ignorant of the most important
aspects of the Bible, let us not run only after blessings and lose the
greater things.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are God and above all. Your Word says even knee bows at your Name,
it also says at the end You will come and declare your Name to bring
everything into subjection of You. Lord we pray we know You more and more
to have power in You and to be true Israel...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Acts 7:35 This Moses whom they refused, saying, Who made thee a ruler and
a judge? the same did God send to be a ruler and a deliverer by the hand of
the angel which appeared to him in the bush.

Exodus 3:4 And when the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called
unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said,
Here am I.

John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the
sons [children] of God, even to them that believe on his name:

Ephesians 1:18-23
18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what
is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his
inheritance in the saints,
19 And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who
believe, according to the working of his mighty power,
20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set
him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,
21 Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and
every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is
to come:
22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head
over all things to the church,
23 Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.

Philippians 2:10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of
things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

Called to suffer

1 Peter 2:21 For hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for
you, leaving you an example, that ye should follow his steps:

In today’s message Peter summarizes the process of Christianity in a couple
of lines.

In other religions a person is called to suffer for their wrong doings but
in Christianity we claim the suffering of Christ for our sins. Does that
mean we do not suffer? NO

We as Christians are called to suffer but not for our sins, like Christ we
suffer for the sins of others. That does not mean we pay the price for
their sins but means we suffer for them to know Christ and be renewed in
Him.

Each of us Christians if we are not suffering then we are not being
Christians. We are called to suffer others, their weaknesses, their
foolishness, their wrath etc. so that we show Christ unto them. We are not
called to silently suffer for Christ too did not silently suffer, His
actions, His life and His teachings speak very loudly and does not allow us
to continue our dark life, our life of sin, it causes light to shine in our
darkness.

We are called to overcome evil with good and this good is when we do it for
other. Let us not be deceived with doing social service. Yes we are called
to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, shelter the homeless and quench the
thirsty. But more than that we called to feed spiritual food, guide,
disciple and love people who are lost or growing in Christ. If we do the
former without the latter then our work is meaningless and vain and if we
claim to do the latter without the former then our latter is a lie and a
hollow deception. As we mature in spirit we will do more of the latter and
less of the former, but both we will do.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Almighty and Awesome God. It is only in your wisdom You Lord
use to the little for mighty works. Lord we pray we see the real problem
and not be sidetracked with the little ones. We pray we understand the
importance to bear others and to mold them like Christ does to us so they
may see Christ in us and follow Him...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
1 Peter 2:15-24

Matthew 16:24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man would come
after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

Mark 8:35 For whosoever would save his life shall lose it; and whosoever
shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel’s shall save it.

1 Thessalonians 3:3-5
3 That no man should be moved by these afflictions: for yourselves know
that we are appointed thereunto.
4 For verily, when we were with you, we told you before that we should
suffer tribulation; even as it came to pass, and ye know.
5 For this cause, when I could no longer forbear, I sent to know your
faith, lest by some means the tempter have tempted you, and our labour be
in vain.

The Greatest Honor

2 Peter 1: 17 For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when
there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved
Son, in whom I am well pleased.

All men and women of God want not just to go to heaven but desire the great
honor which is when they enter Heaven the Lord says ‘this is my beloved
Son, in whom I am well pleased’. The term beloved comes from the word love
and does not define the uniqueness of Christ who was neither created nor
made like us human nor like the heavenly beings yet humbled Himself and
took our form.

When Jesus spoke about the great honor in one of His parables He used the
words ‘Well done, thou good and faithful servant’. The Greek word
translated as servant is the word ‘doulos’ which refers to someone with
whom a contract/bond is established and in another parable Jesus defines
the bond as ‘the will of the Father’. The will of the Father as Jesus put
is to bring back the lost / save souls. This Jesus also put to His
disciples as ‘love one another as I have love you’ and we know it was
because of His love He saved us. His love is focused not to please us but
to build us in Him and to transform us from within.

Peter was referring to the incident of transfiguration of Jesus, when they
heard Father Lord spoke these words. Transfiguration of Jesus was not Jesus
showing His divine self but if we see was a form similar to that of Angels.
Jesus said in resurrection man would be like the Angels. By His
transfiguration Jesus confirmed He had overcome, this was not just a matter
of hope for us but also a demonstration of what we could become when we
overcome.

We who are heirs of God’s Kingdom will be transformed so as to enter
Heaven, we will be transformed into Sons to God (a term also used for
Angels). Unless we do not overcome we will not transform and unless we do
not transform we will not transfigure so as to enter Heaven.

Riches and pleasures of the flesh are not sin but have the potential to
destroy our spiritual transformation. Satan tempts us in the flesh and with
the flesh so that we do not transform from within and thus do not inherit
what he lost. So let us discern all things and keep our natural senses
always in control by enhancing our spiritual senses and focusing on doing
the will of the Father so as to receive the great honor.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Awesome God who alone is worthy of praise and glory. You God
want man to be lifted up not in the natural but in the spiritual so You
desire to transform him. It is only when we are transform will we be able
to be part of You and experience your true glory. We pray Lord our eyes be
focused on the things of Heaven more than the things on earth. May we be
focused to do the purpose You called us to...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Matthew 17:1-13

Matthew 25:21 His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful
servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler
over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

Matthew 22:29-30
29 Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the
scriptures, nor the power of God.
30 For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage,
but are as the angels of God in heaven.

Revelation 19:10 And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto
me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that
have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the
spirit of prophecy.

Revelation 22:9 Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy
fellowservant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the
sayings of this book: worship God.

Taking a share of the offering

Hebrew 13:10,11 We have an altar, whereof they have no right to eat that
serve the tabernacle. For the bodies of those beasts whose blood is brought
into the holy place by the high priest as an offering for sin, are burned
without the camp.

Today’s topic is one topic which has the potential to get anyone is the bad
books of most Pastors and Church leaders. When one discusses tithing it is
sufficient to anger them but if someone quotes Hebrew 13:10 then that does
it.

In the OT we see when it came to offering or tithe those who served at the
Tabernacle had a right to a share of the offering. Share of the meat
offering was according to type and not quantity (it was symbolic to
spiritual things and not monetary) but with regards to grain offering each
could take just a handful (symbolizing just basic needs and nothing more).

In today’s message we see Paul states that since Christ died outside the
camp thus the priest loses his rights to take a share of the offering. So
all those working for a Kingdom of God irrespective of their post or
Calling are official not eligible to a share of the collection. But then as
saints (meaning those who are into fulltime ministry and not providing for
themselves or their families) are eligible to take for their basic
provision.

If one studies Tithing / Giving it was not all is to be given to those who
serve the Lord’s Kingdom, the Bible gives great detail in form of symbolism
of how much percentage to be given for what. The finance is literally micro
managed making sure all areas required for building of God’s Kingdom are
covered. People may state tithing is an OT subject not of the NT since it
is hardly mention.

Tithes in Greek ‘apodekatoo’ is mentioned 8 times in NT and of these 4
times in the book of Hebrews and 4 times in the Gospels. Hebrew 7 talks of
Christ the master servant who was in the lions of Abraham gave tithe to
Melchisedec who symbolically represented Him. In OT the Holy Spirit was
given only to a very few thus all were given a standard measure of
10percent as Giving unto the Lord. In Acts 5 we see people baptized in the
Holy Spirit were directly instructed by the Holy Spirit of how much to keep
and the remainder to give unto the Lord. If we look at the first incident
of tithing Abraham gave 10percent to Melchisedec but gave all leaving what
his men had consumed and what was paid as remuneration for the task (they
were hired men - history notes them to be about 600-700 in number).

Jesus warned, the rich will find it almost impossible to enter the Kingdom
of God and the Apostles advised to live a sober life void of luxury. Paul
being the most successful amongst all others in his time worked and
financially supported himself and also others; he never took from the
offerings.

Tithing/Giving has a purpose and the recipient of this is more the giver
than the Lord or the receiver. The Lord can provide through many other ways
but instituted this system for the purpose of benefit for the giver.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Almighty God there is nothing that is impossible for You, yet
You Lord work through man. All things You do have purpose and the purpose
is the salvation of those who are yours. Lord we pray we overcome the
natural and focus on the spiritual. Let not the desires of the natural
destroy the spiritual...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Hebrew 7:5-10
5 And verily they that are of the sons of Levi, who receive the office of
the priesthood, have a commandment to take tithes of the people according
to the law, that is, of their brethren, though they come out of the loins
of Abraham:
6 But he whose descent is not counted from them received tithes of
Abraham, and blessed him that had the promises.
7 And without all contradiction the less is blessed of the better.
8 And here men that die receive tithes; but there he receiveth them, of
whom it is witnessed that he liveth.
9 And as I may so say, Levi also, who receiveth tithes, payed tithes in
Abraham.
10 For he was yet in the loins of his father, when Melchisedec met him.

Genesis 14:14-24

Matthew 19:23 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you,
That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven.

1 Thessalonians 5:8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on
the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation..

Acts 5:3 But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie
to the Holy Spirit, and to keep back part of the price of the land?

Bearing the infirmities of the weak

Romans 15:1 We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the
weak, and not to please ourselves.

In today’s message the Greek word asthenema translated as infirmities means
‘error arising from weakness of mind’.

Correction and condemnation are not the same thing. Correction aims for
edifying the person and building the person who is in the wrong while
condemnation aims at pointing the error and making the person guilty of the
error.

In the Bible the Greek word ‘peirazo’ is translated as both tempted and
tested. Even though it is the same word yet we see scriptures state God
does not tempt but on the same hand says God does test. The word tempt/test
comes from the root word peran which means ‘beyond the other side’. Testing
or tempting tries to move a person onto the other side, what is important
is what is there on the other side, is it blessings or wrath of God. Satan
by himself cannot touch us but by tempting/testing us to sin he can remove
us from the area of blessing from God to the area of wrath of God. The
purpose differentiates if it is from God or from the devil.

Let us not play the devil by condemning people who are wrong but let us
build them by correcting them in a gentle manner.

[Pray Starter]
Lord You are Almighty God yet You are a loving and gentle God. You Lord
desire to bless those who come to You and also those who are lost. You God
provide for those who love You and also those hwo hate You. Lord we pray we
be more like You and by imitating shine your light unto others...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Matthew 4:1 Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be
tempted of the devil.

1 Corinthians 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is
common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted
above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to
escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

James 1:13-14
13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot
be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:
14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and
enticed.

Does the Lord do everything?

2 Timothy 4:18 And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and
will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and
ever. Amen.

People always state it is by the grace of God that they succeed and then in
their spiritual lives they do not battle and expect to overcome with God’s
grace.

In today’s message we see Paul says he depends on the Lord to deliver him
from every evil work and to preserve him. If we read two verses before we
see he did not sit at home and expect the Lord to deliver him from every
evil and to preserve him.

Joshua knew the Lord had given him victory but then he still needed to go
to battle knowing the enemy had no power over him and his army.

The Greek word ‘charis’ translated as grace comes from the root meaning ‘to
rejoice’ or ‘be glad’ but when we look up the Hebrew word ‘chen’ / grace
comes from the root word chanan meaning mercy. Another Hebrew word chanah
similar to mercy means being encamped or tent or dwell. Let us not make our
misunderstanding of the grace of God be our cause of destruction by taking
us away from His grace.

When we dwell in the Lord we receive the goodness of the Lord and the
privilege to dwell is given by the Lord. Dwelling in the Lord does not
always mean instant relieve, it just assures the victory and we need to
hold on and remain in Him. Being in His grace gives us the joy that
strengthens us.

Our battle is not directly against evil but more of remaining the Lord.
Jesus did not come on earth to search and destroy evil spirits and Satan.
He came to save man by bringing them to the knowledge of the Father, to
remain in Him and have victory in Him. Evil powers will try to remove us
from the presence of the Lord and thus cause us to be defeated. It is only
when we understand this our spiritual battle takes a dynamic twist and we
do not waste our energy, do vain things that lead to our destruction.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are God and are God over all. Evil powers destroy us when we are
far from You and have no power against us when we are near You. Lord we
pray we understand the importance of remaining in You...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
2 Timothy 4:16-17
16 At my first answer no man stood with me, but all men forsook me: I
pray God that it may not be laid to their charge.
17 Notwithstanding the Lord stood with me, and strengthened me; that by me
the preaching might be fully known, and that all the Gentiles might hear:
and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.

2 Corinthians 12:9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee:
for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I
rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

John 15:8-11
8 Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be
my disciples.
9 As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love..
10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have
kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.
11 These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you,
and that your joy might be full.

Every Good and Perfect Gift is from Him

James 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and
cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness,
neither shadow of turning.

The usual question unbelievers have is if God is good then why is there
evil?

When we look at things we see God did not create evil but allowed evil to
exist so that good can overcome evil and be glorified more. God is
eternally constant in nature since He is perfect but that does not mean God
does not change/grow. The change is not in His nature but in His glory.
Since God is a living God He too grows and His growth is from glory to
glory.

Today’s message talks of giftings. Gifts can come from man as well as God
and gifts are classified into skills and anointing. Skill comes from
experience or comes inbuilt created by God. We call inbuilt skills as
talent, but talent is something that we create and is not the right word
for what is inbuilt in us. The word comes from money that is earned and
possessed. A plane cannot say it has the talent to fly nor a ship say it
has talent to sail. God has created us for a mission and has given us the
ability to do it, so we cannot claim it as a talent.

Coming to anointing; anointing in Hebrew comes from the term of pouring oil
but in Greek the term used for spiritual anointing means ‘to borrow’ or ‘to
take a loan’ (1 John 2:27). It is the ability to do a specific job with
great ease. An anointing from God will manifest something unnatural (even
supernatural is limited to natural). We can get this anointing directly
from God or can inherit from another Man of God.

There is a danger of inheriting anointing from a Man of God. We see God put
the anointing that was on Moses on to the 70 elders inside the camp; we see
they behaved and prophesied like Moses. We also have the case of a double
portion of anointing passed from Elijah to Alisha and we see along with the
good even the weakness of Elijah (his uncontrollable anger) was passed
double to Alisha. In the Gospels we see Jesus rebuked the spirit of Elijah
but not of Alisha even though Alisha did more mistakes (along with more
miracles) than Elijah. When Elijah came as John the Baptist we see he lived
a life of repentance right from childhood to overcome his spiritual
weakness.

Passing of one’s anointing is very common today especially by TV
evangelists and that is why we get copies and not originals. Like the
anointing of Alisha did not help him when he died but bought another to
life so also these inherited do not spiritually edify a person.

Today’s message tells us gifts given from God are good and perfect. If we
get to the Greek words they have a deeper meaning than what the translation
shows. The word translated as good actually means ‘benefiting’ that means
if a person who is God gifted would edify and benefit the Body of Christ.
The other word translated as perfect means ‘bring to completion’, ‘finish
the job’. That means if a person is God gifted than that person will not
leave a job half-done but will complete it.

Let us look into our lives as see if we are God gifted or man gifted, if we
have got our gifting from God directly or inherited from Men of God. Let us
look if we are truly edifying the Body of Christ, ourselves spiritually and
not leaving tasks half way.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Truly God and there is no one other than You. You alone are
Perfect and every way and anything that comes from You is also perfect and
good for it builds us and does not harm us. Lord we pray we seek gifting
from You and not from man. We pray everything we do edifies and we complete
that which we have started...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Numbers 27:18 And the LORD said unto Moses, Take thee Joshua the son of
Nun, a man in whom is the spirit, and lay thine hand upon him;

Deuteronomy 34:9 And Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of
wisdom; for Moses had laid his hands upon him: and the children of Israel
hearkened unto him, and did as the LORD commanded Moses.

Numbers 11:25-29
25 And the LORD came down in a cloud, and spake unto him, and took of the
spirit that was upon him, and gave it unto the seventy elders: and it came
to pass, that, when the spirit rested upon them, they prophesied, and did
not cease.
26 But there remained two of the men in the camp, the name of the one was
Eldad, and the name of the other Medad: and the spirit rested upon them;
and they were of them that were written, but went not out unto the
tabernacle: and they prophesied in the camp.
27 And there ran a young man, and told Moses, and said, Eldad and Medad do
prophesy in the camp.
28 And Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of Moses, one of his young men,
answered and said, My lord Moses, forbid them.
29 And Moses said unto him, Enviest thou for my sake? would God that all
the LORD’S people were prophets, and that the LORD would put his spirit
upon them!

2 Kings 2:9 And it came to pass, when they were gone over, that Elijah
said unto Elisha, Ask what I shall do for thee, before I be taken away from
thee. And Elisha said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be
upon me.

Luke 9:52-56
52 And sent messengers before his face: and they went, and entered into a
village of the Samaritans, to make ready for him.
53 And they did not receive him, because his face was as though he would
go to Jerusalem.
54 And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, Lord, wilt
thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even
as Elias did?
55 But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of
spirit ye are of.
56 For the Son of man is not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save
them. And they went to another village.

1 John 2:27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in
you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing
teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it
hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

Jewish Jesus!

Colossians 4:11 And Jesus, which is called Justus, who are of the
circumcision. These only are my fellowworkers unto the kingdom of God,
which have been a comfort unto me.

Study of biblical languages is very important to understand scriptures and
without it we land up with assumptions.

The Jews speak Hebrew as the language of the sanctuary, all their text are
in that language. Aramaic is an offset of Hebrew, many of the words are
common to both. Aramaic was a language used for diplomacy and soon gained
popularity and replaced Hebrew in most places in Middle East. The language
varied according to regions. Some Jews started translating text related to
their religion into Judeo-Aramaic language.

The New Testament was originally written (started) in Aramaic since both
Jews and other people in Judea spoke that language but then the Apostles
realized if they had to take the message of Christ to people other than
Jews they had to use Greek which was the common man’s language. So during
the time of the Apostles, Gospels were translated into Greek and unfinished
work were completed in Greek. The Apostles moved the focus from Jews to
rest of the world. They realized although the story started with the Jews,
it ends with rest of the world. Jesus Christ was a savior promised to both
Israelites and the people of the world.

We see some words of the NT have not been translated to English language or
Greek language but written in Aramaic and names were not among them. This
was done both in the Greek text and carried on in the translations of
various languages today.

Jesus as man on earth may have never spoken Greek even though He may have
known it. The people spoke mostly Hebrew and Aramaic. The names by which
Jesus was known by were Jehoshua / Joshua / Yeshua. The word Jesus is an
English version coming from the Greek name Iesous which the Apostles used
in place of Yeshua / Joshua / Jehoshua during the translation, the word
Iesous means ‘Jehovah is salvation’ same to the Hebrew meaning.

In today’s message we see there were others in the ministry which had the
name Yeshua / Jehoshua / Joshua and not to confuse them with Christ they
were given nick names like we read in today’s message a person was called
Justus which means ‘just’.

Let us get it into us the Lord Jesus Christ was called to be the savior of
the world. He was born amongst the Jews but was for everyone. He is the way
to the Kingdom of God so anyone who follows Him will inherit the Kingdom of
God, be it Jew, Greek, Roman or even Indian. Since we all inherit it
together as a body so no man is first or last.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Almighty God and all that exist comes from You. You Lord are
creator of all. Lord we pray we know You for who You are. We pray we do not
belittle You by our understanding...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
John 4:42 And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy
saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the
Christ, the Saviour of the world.

Acts 13:23 Of this man’s seed hath God according to his promise raised
unto Israel a Saviour, Jesus:

1 John 4:14 And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son
to be the Saviour of the world.

Galatians 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor
free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

Acts 7:49 Heaven is my throne, and earth is my footstool: what house will
ye build me? saith the Lord: or what is the place of my rest?

He will make known His glory on His people

Romans 9:23,24 And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the
vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory, Even us, whom he
hath called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles?

Many years back during my initial reading of the Bible I used to wonder as
an Indian how I was placed in the Kingdom of God. The Bible seem to talk a
lot of the Israelites and the Jews, it is only in the end we seem to read
about the Gentiles (assumed non-Jews) as being selected. I have come across
people who state that ‘the Israelites are God’s children and others are
adopted as children’.

There were verses like where a Canaanite woman reaches out to Jesus for
help and Jesus tells her that He could give the children’s bread to dogs.
But seeing her faith He does at the end not only heal her daughter but
makes her whole. It made me think were we dogs before the Gospel was given
to us and why were the Israelites different from us when they behaved most
suborn, what they experienced had we experienced possibly we would have
responded better to the Lord.

This is not a feeling that was unique to me but as an Apologist I have seen
others ask this question.

Paul who had both Jewish and also Roman roots, too had this battle and was
holding on to his Jewish roots before he understood the Word of God (OT)
when the Lord blinded him for a few days and ministered to him thereafter.
In his letter to the Jews in Rome Paul addresses to the Jewish issue
strongly.

In today’s message Paul talks of the glory of God which the Lord has
prepared after Judgment Day for ‘His people’ and Paul talks of both Jews
and Gentiles. This we see was not the case only after Jesus’ death and
resurrection but Paul quotes a verses from Hosea (OT) and others to support
this.

It is only when I understood Bible symbolism did I start to understand from
the beginning of creation God knew and planned all things. He did chose the
Israelites to unfold His plans but knowing their hearts He exposed them by
coming as man amongst them and being rejected by them He became their
stumbling stone.

If one learns the Hebrew language one will see every name in the Bible has
a meaning and it is given with due thought. It is only when one goes deep
into the meaning that one sees the message. Let’s take for example the
names from Adam to Noah it hold the hidden Gospel.

Adam Man
Seth Appointed
Enosh Mortal
Kenan Sorrow
Mahalalel The Blessed God
Jared Shall come down
Enoch Teaching
Methuselah His death shall bring
Lamech The Despairing
Noah Rest, or comfort.

Together it comes as: Man appointed (for) mortal sorrow; the Blessed God
shall come down teaching, His death shall bring despairing rest.

Let us get it into us that Lord is not the Lord of only the Israelites but
of all creation. From the beginning the plan of God was for people of all
races, initially the plan was only visible in His creation which was made
to a design but later by Him speaking through His chosen Prophets and His
coming as a mortal man, He disclosed His plans to all mankind.

If we see the history of mankind people knew about His plan but chose to
reject it like the first lot of Israelites who exit Egypt and died in the
wilderness leaving for a couple.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are God of all creation. From the beginning for creation You knew
who were your people and thus over a period revealed your plan unto them.
Like your Word says You will not lose even one of them whose name is
written in the Book of Life. You Lord made the grass along with fruit
bearing trees. We pray we do not be counted with the grass by along with
those who bear fruit...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Matthew 15:22-28

Hosea 2:23 And I will sow her unto me in the earth; and I will have mercy
upon her that had not obtained mercy; and I will say to them which were not
my people, Thou art my people; and they shall say, Thou art my God.

Ministering Jesus Christ unto the Gentiles

Romans 15:16 That I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles,
ministering the gospel of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles might
be acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Spirit.

In Muslims they use the term infidels for those who are not Muslims. If one
knows their scriptures the infidels are considered evil people because they
do not worship the god of Islam. The Muslims are called to convert an
infidel unto Islam and anyone doing that (by whatever means, even using
lies or deceit) will get a free ticket to ‘paradise’. If an infidel choses
to dwell amongst them and not convert than they are called to pay a tax
called Jizya. Some scriptures even advice killing an infidel as an option
to go to ‘paradise’. People are also not aware the worse kind of infidel
for a Muslim is a Muslim of another sect and incidentally Islam has 70plus
sects.

When we hear this we think these people are animals. But it may surprise
you that they learned this from the Jews and took it to extreme.

For the Jews a Gentile is not just a non-Israelite. Firstly we think all
Israelites are called Jews that is incorrect. The united kingdom of Israel
was divided into two kingdoms of Judah and Israel [after the reign of
Solomon]. The southern part of Israel with Jerusalem as its capital was the
kingdom of Judah while the northern part with Samaria as its capital
continued to be called Israel, because only 2 tribes of Judah and Benjamin
who were loyal to the house of David were part of the kingdom of Judah
while the remaining were part of Israel. It was the people of Judah who
were known as Jews, the people of Israel were later referred to Samaritans.
The Samaritans as well as those Jews who followed non-Jewish pagan rituals
were also called Gentiles.

Since the Jews were customs centric thus for the Jews the term Gentile
meant anyone who did not follow their customs. But since Christianity is
not a religion or about customs, but all about being renewed in spirit by
our discipleship in Christ thus for Christianity the term Gentile does not
mean one who does not know Christ but means one who does not follow Christ.

Customs are rituals like we learnt before are enemies of our spirit for
they do not let a person to be renewed (born-again) in spirit and it is
only through the Holy Spirit that a person can become a Christian. All
those in customs and ritual are more Gentiles and less Christians.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Almighty God and You are Spirit. Your Kingdom which is a
spirit kingdom is eternal unlike this natural kingdom which is for a
period. You, Lord desire man to be led by your Spirit so that man would
overcome the flesh and corruption of this world. Lord we pray we no more be
Gentiles but be people led by your Spirit - be Sons of God...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Galatians 2:14 But when I saw that they walked not uprightly according to
the truth of the gospel, I said unto Peter before them all, If thou, being
a Jew, livest after the manner of Gentiles, and not as do the Jews, why
compellest thou the Gentiles to live as do the Jews?

John 8:48-49
48 Then answered the Jews, and said unto him, Say we not well that thou
art a Samaritan, and hast a devil?
49 Jesus answered, I have not a devil; but I honour my Father, and ye do
dishonour me.

Ephesians 4:17-24
17 This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk
not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind,
18 Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God
through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their
heart:
19 Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness,
to work all uncleanness with greediness.
20 But ye have not so learned Christ;
21 If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the
truth is in Jesus:
22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which
is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;
23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in
righteousness and true holiness.

Many due to one

Romans 5:19 For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by
the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.

In Islam woman are considered evil mainly because of Eve, they feel it was
Eve who bought sin into this world. Islamic text stats their prophet saw
Hell full of women. We as Christians may be amused at such statements but
do we not have some of our own amusing ones.

Today’s message talks of due to one man’s disobedience many were made
sinners. We assume we are sinners because Adam sinned!

Bible says each man is guilty for his own sin, father will pay for his own
sin and son his own, father will not pay for the sons nor son for the
father’s. But we also have scriptures which state the Lord will visit the
sins of the father to the son, unto his 4th generation. These statements
may seem contradicting all because we do not differentiate between sin and
sin nature. Since son comes from the father (seeds are in the father before
conceived in the womb of the mother) the nature of the father (good and
bad, blessings and curses) are inherited by the children (the mother’s
nature is transferred via the father since they become one).

In medicine we are aware of hereditary sicknesses, similarly spiritual
nature to sin is also transferred. It is not necessary because the nature
of robbing is transferred that the son has to rob. We need to understand
nature has to be abided into to become it. That means the son will be
tempted to rob more because the father robbed, but if the son resisted the
nature over a period his generations will be more immune to robbing.

The word ‘Adam’ is a Hebrew word and means ‘man’. Adam was not the name of
the first being, it became his name since there were none other. Eve came
from Adam since God created her from his bone. Genesis 5:2 says the day God
created Adam He called all his generations ‘Adam’. The scripture does not
mean God gave the name ‘Adam’ to all of mankind but says the nature of Adam
was on all mankind and this happened before Eve was made and before they
had both sinned but when they sinned this nature got corrupted and thus we
have inherited a corrupt nature. We become sinners by our own doings when
we abide into that nature. We can blame Adam for the sin nature but not for
our sins. We are sinners out of our own doings.

Now coming to the second part of ‘by the obedience of one shall many be
made righteous’. Here too we have distorted the meaning and assume by doing
nothing we will all become righteous. The Greek word baptisma (baptism)
like I explained before was a term used in dying of clothes where the cloth
is dipped in a dye and takes on the color of the dye. When we believe in
Christ and are baptized in Him we are called to be more like Him putting on
His nature. That means it is not by just believing in Jesus Christ but by
following Jesus Christ we move towards being called his righteous
(inheritors to the Fruit of Righteousness which we will get on Judgment
Day).

Let us stop claiming Christianity and Heaven by our verbal claims but claim
it by our walk in Christ. It is only when we do the will of the Father we
become more like Christ and thus true inheritors of His Kingdom. We
overcome evil not by confronting it but overcome it by doing good (not in
worldly sense but spiritual sense).

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Almighty God. You Lord are Holy, Righteous and Truth. Your
Kingdom is a holy Kingdom and anything corrupt cannot dwell before and
still live. You Lord removed us from your presence so that man could be
restored and brought back into your presence. Lord we pray we understand
the purpose of the sacrifice of Christ and the importance of His Spirit.
Let us understand there is no trsnformation without the working of the
Spirit...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Genesis 5:1-2
1 This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created
man, in the likeness of God made he him;
2 Male and female created he them; and blessed them, and called their name
Adam, in the day when they were created.

Ezekiel 18:4,17-20
4 Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul
of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.
17 That hath taken off his hand from the poor, that hath not received
usury nor increase, hath executed my judgments, hath walked in my statutes;
he shall not die for the iniquity of his father, he shall surely live.
18 As for his father, because he cruelly oppressed, spoiled his brother by
violence, and did that which is not good among his people, lo, even he
shall die in his iniquity.
19 Yet say ye, Why? doth not the son bear the iniquity of the father? When
the son hath done that which is lawful and right, and hath kept all my
statutes, and hath done them, he shall surely live.
20 The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the
iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the
son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the
wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.

Exodus 20:5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I
the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers
upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

Numbers 14:18 The LORD is longsuffering, and of great mercy, forgiving
iniquity and transgression, and by no means clearing the guilty, visiting
the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth
generation.

Standing in the gap for the people

1 Timothy 2:1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications,
prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;

About a month plus back the Church I fellowship at, has taken up a project
named ‘10 righteousness men in the city’. It is about the Lord giving a
condition to Abraham that He would not destroy the cities if He finds at
least 10 righteous men in the city. The congregation in our individual cell
groups have been asked to select one part of the city and pray for it.
Since then we have been having some amazing testimonies. One sister was
praying for the Marine Drive area for the cleansing of the sea and the Lord
did an amazing feat of the sea throwing out almost 2,15,000kgs of garbage.
What is amazing is that in all the garbage there has been no report of any
fish been recorded.

Today’s message speaks of standing in the gap for others and Paul gives 4
steps to that. He first talks of supplication which means needs. The second
point he gives is prayer and then intercession and lastly thanksgiving.

We always think prayer means asking God or putting our request to God, but
here we see Paul puts supplication as separate from prayer. When Jesus was
asked how to pray He gave the words which we call as Our Father, we have
made it a prayer and repeat it. When Jesus gave it He said ‘pray in this
manner’, He did not give us a prayer but gave us a format in which to pray.

If we look at the prayer we assume the words ‘give’ and ‘forgive’ are
requests. The Greek translations into English have been incorrect and that
is because of the language issue. Greek has 7 tenses while English has 3 -
past, present and future. The words ‘Give us our daily bread’ and ‘Forgive
us our trespasses’ are not requests. The verbs ‘give’ and ‘forgive’ are in
a tense called aorist which is past, present and future put together. The
words ‘give’ and ‘forgive’ are declarations and not requests; so we tell
God You give us our daily bread and You forgive our trespasses.

Prayer in Greek ‘proseuche’ / ‘proseuchomai’ (to pray) is a compound word
made of two words which together means ‘putting our wishes unto God’. If we
look minutely the prayer ‘Our Father’ has nothing earthly in it, the ‘daily
bread’ is not food; Jesus said man does not live by earthly bread alone but
by the Word of God. Our prayers are supposed to be only for spiritual needs
while our supplication for earthly needs. What is interesting is we are
asked to pray unceasingly and we are doing is supplications unceasingly.

We see the third point is intercession. The Geek word enteuxis /entugchano
(make Intercession) comes from a term of waiting after a javelin is thrown.
Intercession is very critical and the most difficult period of standing in
the gap that is waiting after putting forth our supplications and prayers.

The last part is giving ‘thanksgiving’ and is the most important part of
our standing in the gap. If we recount of the 10 lepers who were healed
only one came back to thank Jesus and he alone was the one whom Jesus said
‘be whole’. The other did not get their sickness back but what this person
got was more than just restoration of his natural body.

Let us understand the importance of standing in the gap for others, and let
us most importantly know how to.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are loving Father. You God who are seated in the highest of
Heavens yet are present amongst us through your Son and Spirit. Father
teach us to pray teach us to stand in the gap for others and for ourselves.
Let our focus not be this world and worldly things. Let our prayer be
filled with more of faith and less of tears or cries...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Matthew 6:9-13
9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy name.
10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is
the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Matthew 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by
bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

Doers shall be justified

Romans 2:13 (For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the
doers of the law shall be justified.

When the word ‘Law’ is spoken in the Bible people think of the Ten
Commandments. If we look at the Ten Commandments breaking any one of them
the punishment is the same that means a person who worships other gods or
does idol worship is as good as the one who is a murderer or does adultery.
Even the sin of stealing, lying or taking the name of the Lord in vain is
as serious as murder. There are some Commandments we see not mentioned
amongst the ten, like homosexuality where God said the person will be cut
out from His people (will not enter Heaven).

The word sin in both Greek and Hebrew means ‘missing the mark’, it also
matters in what tense the word is rendered in to know its seriousness.
Broadly we have sins like grieving the Holy Spirit which are not forgivable
and then there are also sins which John in his letter states as sins that
do not lead to death (these are sins which constitute in breaking
statutes). In simple words breaking the command of God or any instruction
of God is considered sin. The Word of God is God’s instruction to mankind.

In the book of Jeremiah, God says in the later days He will write His Law
in the hearts of man, meaning He will talk to man like He spoke to the
Prophets of the OT and whatever He puts in the heart of man is considered a
Commandment, not abiding in it is considered sin.

Today’s message tells those who believe in the Lord, study His Word, preach
His Word are not the ones who will be justified - made righteous, but only
those who are doers of the Commandment, those who follow the Word of God.

A Preacher may preach and turn the hearts of others, cause them to abide in
the Word of God and thus enter the Kingdom of God but if the Preacher
himself does not abide in the Word, he will not go to Heaven.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are a Holy God and the Heavens are a holy place. You God desire
man be restored and the corruption caused by sin be removed. You God gave
us your Word for restoration but You knowing man by himself cannot abide in
the Word, thus You gave man a Helper (Holy Spirit) to help him abide in the
Word. Lord we pray we understand unless we do not surrender to your Word
and your Spirit there is no way we can enter your Kingdom...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Jeremiah 31:33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the

and they shall be my people.

A Hardened Heart

John 11:45, 46 Then many of the Jews which came to Mary, and had seen the
things which Jesus did, believed on him. But some of them went their ways
to the Pharisees, and told them what things Jesus had done.

In Luke 4:20-30 we read as Jesus preached in a synagogue He told them that
during the time of famine Elijah (Elias - in Aramaic) was sent to a
specific widow’s house in Sidon (Zidon) even though there were many widows
in Israel. He also went on to state that there were many lepers in Israel
yet Elisha (Eliseus in Aramaic) healed a Syrian leper named Naaman. We see
Jesus spoke Aramaic a common man language (Jews spoke Hebrew) even though
He was in a Jewish synagogue because there were other people also there
attending and He wanted to communicate to all. We read that all those who
were there were filled with wrath so much that they wanted to murder Him by
pushing Him off a hill. Jesus had shown them the mirror where they saw
their hardened hearts.

Today’s message talks of Jesus bringing Lazarus to life and even though He
did that yet we see there were few Jews who were so hardened in their
hearts that they went to the Pharisees to plan evil with them since the
Pharisees had considered themselves as enemies of Jesus.

If we understand the miracle of bringing back Lazarus to life, no miracle
comes near it. It was not an ordinary death to live miracle which Jesus had
done many, nor was it special because it was done after a few days later.
On the fourth day of his death Lazarus was wrapped in long bands used to
bind the body after a ritual was performed on the third day of the person’s
death. This ritual was of Egyptian origin which we call as mummification,
it required cutting and removal of some internal organ and filling the body
with spices and wrapping the body with bands.

Lazarus’ family belonged to a section of Jews who followed not only Jewish
traditions but also followed traditions of other beliefs which they had
caught during their exile in Egypt and Babylon. The people of Galilee
(Samarians) were most famous for this thus was the saying no Prophet would
ever come from Galilee. Mary the mother of Jesus was also from Galilee and
was a follower of these traditions and thus we see on the third day of
Jesus’ death she along with other women went to the tomb carrying lots of
spices to perform this ritual.

Even after spending years with Jesus people near to Him were in bondages of
traditions and these broke only after they received baptism in the Holy
Spirit.

Traditions even though done in the natural are bondages that bind the
spirit. They are like shackles of iron that tie heavy weights to the feet
of our spirit. We may think we are not having these shackles but when we
see what we do is not in line with the Word of God we actually bear them.
We can also confirm their presence on our feet if we are not spiritually
growing from time to time. These shackles over time not only slow our
spiritual growth but also harden our hearts into such darkness where even
the light of Christ cannot make any effect.

Let us not be blind to the iron shackles of tradition, let us let the Son
set our spirits free through the working of His Spirit in us.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are God and You are Spirit. You Lord desire we worship You in
Spirit and Truth. Lord we pray we walk more in spirit and less in the
natural. We pray You open our spiritual eyes to that we can see these
shackles which bind us down and not let us grow in You...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Luke 4:25-30
25 But I tell you of a truth, many widows were in Israel in the days of
Elias, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when great
famine was throughout all the land;
26 But unto none of them was Elias sent, save unto Sarepta, a city of
Sidon, unto a woman that was a widow.
27 And many lepers were in Israel in the time of Eliseus the prophet; and
none of them was cleansed, saving Naaman the Syrian.
28 And all they in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were
filled with wrath,
29 And rose up, and thrust him out of the city, and led him unto the brow
of the hill whereon their city was built, that they might cast him down
headlong.
30 But he passing through the midst of them went his way,

Righteousness of Christ

Romans 10:4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every
one that believeth.

Understanding of the Fruits of the Spirit are very important. We speak of
the 9 Fruits mentioned in Galatians but do not relate to the 3 mentioned in
Ephesians which are Truth, Righteousness and Holiness. Paul did not mention
all 12 together since the 9 are that which we grow but the latter 3 are
which are given to us as gifts.

Adam and Eve lost the Fruit of Truth and Righteousness the day they ate of
the Tree of Doubt (Good and Evil), it is for that reason they saw their
nakedness and like fools were trying to hide from God. Now for man to be
restored to Heaven he needs to gain back these Fruits. Jesus by His
sacrifice made it possible for us to receive His Spirit of Truth. It is the
Holy Spirit who reveals us the Word of God and brings to us receive the
Fruit of Truth. It is not by our study of the Bible that we come to know
the Truth; unless we do not allow the Holy Spirit to minister to us while
we study the Bible there is no way we can come to know the Truth. This
Fruit of Truth is a gift we receive from the Holy Spirit.

On Judgment Day when we all stand before the Lord Jesus Christ, those who
have the Fruit of Truth will receive the Fruit of Righteousness. The Lord
Jesus Christ proved even as man that He was Righteous, so now we who are in
Him (do the Will of the Father like He did) will receive the Fruit of
Righteousness.

Holiness is the Fruit we receive from the Father when we enter Heaven, it
is at that time the Son returns to the Father from whom He came, so we who
are part of Him become part of the Heavenly Temple – Heavenly Jerusalem
(City of Peace) and God dwell with us.

We read in the very next scriptures given to us today states that those who
follow the Bible without the right understanding will be judged by their
understanding since they follow a man (like Moses) and not Christ. It is
due to lack of understanding people claim the dead have ascended to Heaven
even without receiving the Fruit of Righteousness from the Son (received
only on Judgment Day).

As Christians let us not follow the beliefs of the Catholic Church which as
Bible says follows the teachings of the Nicolaitans (a heretic Christian
who was a former Jew and is mentioned in the Bible).

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Holy, Righteous and Truth. You Lord do not change for You are
Perfect, yet You grow from glory to glory. Lord we pray we understand that
nothing corrupt can dwell in Heaven. We pray we understand the importance
of the Fruits of the Spirit and why we are judged on our Fruits. Lord help
us to receive your Righteousness via not our works but by knowing the Truth
and keeping it...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Romans 10:5-7
5 For Moses describeth the righteousness which is of the law, That the man
which doeth those things shall live by them.
6 But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise, Say not
in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ
down from above:)
7 Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ again
from the dead.)

Ro 14:10 But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at
nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of
Christ.

Revelation 2:13-15

2 Thessalonians 2:5-15

1 Thessalonians 3:11-13
11 Now God himself and our Father, and our Lord Jesus Christ, direct our
way unto you.
12 And the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward
another, and toward all men, even as we do toward you:
13 To the end he may stablish your hearts unblameable in holiness before
God, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his
saints.

Calling on the Name of the Lord for salvation

Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be
saved.

Initially growing in the Lord while doing deliverance we were guided to ask
the person to speak the word ‘Jesus’ think by saying the name of Jesus they
would be delivered.

Like Hindus chant the word ‘OM’ for mukti (Hindu version of salvation) many
Christians think by reciting the name ‘Jesus’ they are saved and this
belief is based scriptures like today’s which they have misunderstood.

Paul did not write this verse being inspired by the Holy Spirit, but wrote
it based on a verse already written by the Prophet Joel, which the Holy
Spirit had made Paul understand. If we read Joel 2:32 at that time they did
not know the word ‘Jesus’ which is an English word, nor the Greek word
‘Iesous’. The people who knew Jesus during His time on earth may have never
used the word Iesous to refer to Him, they called Him Joshua or Yeshua in
Hebrew or Aramaic respectively. It was later when translating the
scriptures into Greek they used the name ‘Iesous’.

In Acts 19 we read evil spirits speak the name Jesus when the vagabond Jews
who did not know Jesus were performing exorcism by taking the names of
Jesus and Paul. This challenging did not happen the first time, they were
successful a few times and that got them famous, but it happened one day
the evil spirits did question them. We need to note the evil spirits did
not ask them if they personally knew Jesus or Paul of had knowledge of
them, they asked the vagabond Jews ‘who they are’ meaning in what capacity
were they taking the names to command the evil spirits to leave.

We need to differentiate between natural name and spiritual name. We may
have many natural names but each one of us has a unique spiritual name in
the whole of humanity. When God stated He has written our names in the Book
of Life it does not mean our natural name but means our spiritual name.
This name is not a word but who we are (the final us). We read scriptures
which say there is power in the Name of Jesus, it does not mean by just
saying the word ‘Jesus’, miracles will happen. It is only when we
acknowledge who Jesus is that we experience the power. Scriptures also say
‘put on the Lord Jesus’ that does not mean to write the name Jesus on our
bodies or dress like Him but tells us to become more Him and less our
carnal selves.

Let us understand when we say we believe in the salvation in Jesus Christ,
it does not mean by knowledge but means by relationship. We need to
understand the importance of having a relationship with Christ and unless
we do not have that relationship we cannot be sure of our salvation. Jesus
gave us His Spirit so that His Spirit can help us to be more like Him.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are a Holy God. The Heavens are a holy place and nothing corrupt
can dwell before your presence. Lord we pray we understand unless are was
transformed in spirit we cannot have access to Heaven. It is You who works
in us and through us to transform us...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Joel 2:32 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name
of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be
deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall
call.

Ac 2:21 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name
of the Lord shall be saved.

Ro 13:14 But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for
the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

Acts 19:13-16
13 Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon them to call
over them which had evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, We
adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preacheth.
14 And there were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jew, and chief of the
priests, which did so.
15 And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know;
but who are ye?
16 And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overcame
them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked
and wounded.

Persecution and suffering

Hebrew 11:37 They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were
slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins;
being destitute, afflicted, tormented;

There is a very misunderstood and misquoted scripture misused not only by
Christians but also by other religions which are inspired by the Bible.
Proverbs 27:17 states as iron sharpens iron so also a man sharpens the
happiness of his friend.

Any person working with tools will know to sharpen a tool one needs an
object with a harder material. When we use an object of the same material
there would be lots of noise and even sparks but very little purpose is
fulfilled.

Man cannot truly correct man only God can. It is only when God works
through man, does man get correction. Proverbs 27:17 is an oxymoron
question and not a statement of fact and there are many such in the Bible.

When we read Hebrews 11:32-40 we read about many examples of different
kinds of people whom God delivered from problems, some on wings of grace
where they did not go through any suffering, some went through little
suffering and then there were some others who suffered great sufferings,
but at the end all these obtained a good report.

Some weeks back a sister I have been ministering since many years and
suffering from a critical sickness slept in the Lord. Many a times I have
prayed for her healing and even though her healing was at hand yet she did
not get healed fully. God delivered her of her problems every now and then
but her desire to be fully normal was not fulfilled. She kept asking me
‘brother when will I walk’ and I have no answer but only words of hope.
Even in her sickness she was not once hospitalized. When she was serious I
did receive a message from the Lord which I did not understand but fought
for her to get her out of ICU not once, twice but thrice. On her last
moments at home all her vitals were normal, no infection, BP normal yet she
gave up her spirit. As she was struggling to breathe I was far from her
praying or her and again the Lord gave me the same message but this time
much clearer, the Lord confirmed on Judgment Day she would be seat on His
right hand. I thought to myself if she had not gone through all this would
she have succeeded to achieve this? All the suffering little to achieve
eternal life in Heaven. Initially doctors gave her just 3 to 6 months to
live and yet she survived for 16 years providing for herself and her family
right until the last 1 year when her situation became worse. Her strong
faith and life testimony does glorify God.

Our testimonies tell about us. We have crazy / hard testimonies because we
are people like that. People who have little / simple testimonies and are
yet in the Lord are not less holy but people who did not need high flames
for purification. As our heart condition so is the working of the Lord. If
our names are in the Book of Life then come what may, the Lord will not
give up on us, even we ourselves will not be able to stand between us and
Heaven; the Lord break us yet make us.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Awesome God. Your ways are not the ways of man. Your love is
not like worldly love. You Lord see us through when we are baptized in You.
Like You did not break your covenant with Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob,
Moses and David so also You will not break the better covenant You have
made with us through our Lord Jesus Christ. Help us Lord to surrender to
You and your Word that we may see less suffering and greater glory...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Pr 27:17 Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his
friend.

Jer 15:12 Shall iron break the northern [heavy] iron and the steel?

Hebrew 11:32-40

Lu 15:4-7
4 What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth
not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is
lost, until he find it?
5 And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing.
6 And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and neighbours,
saying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost..
7 I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner
that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no
repentance.

Isa 34:16 Seek ye out of the book of the LORD, and read: no one of these
shall fail, none shall want her mate: for my mouth it hath commanded, and
his spirit it hath gathered them.

Letters of Recommendation

Acts 18:27 And when he was minded to pass over into Achaia, the brethren
encouraged him, and wrote to the disciples to receive him: and when he was
come, he helped them much that had believed through grace;

Achaea was a province of the Roman Empire. The name means ‘trouble’ in
sense of grief. Achaea was a senatorial province, thus free from military
men and legions, and one of the most prestigious and sought-after provinces
for senators to govern. Ancient Achaia was a region that included Athens
and Corinth. Athens was the primary center of education for the imperial
elite, rivaled only by Alexandria, and one of the most important cities in
the Empire. Achaea was among the most prosperous and peaceful parts of the
Roman world until Late Antiquity, when it first suffered from barbarian
invasions. Before it Roman annexure the Greek people of this region fought
a suicidal war against the Romans mainly because a league promoted
nationalism. They were people with a mind to principles as well worldly.

In today’s message we read when Paul desired to go to Achaia the people of
Ephesus were very glad and went to the extent to send letters of
recommendations to help Paul expand his ministry there.

If we recollect a couple of days back (last Sunday) the message spoke of
Paul correcting the Church of Ephesians and its leaders while naming two
women to come to common understanding. In ancient Greek the city of Corinth
had a similar situation as Ephesus, to some extent even worse and the
reason was Prosperity Gospel. Prosperity Gospel existed then as it exist
now and the Apostle apposed it tooth and nail. During that time those who
promoted Prosperity Gospel did not misquote scriptures but our times
ironically people quote (misquote) those who fought against (the Apostles)
this very doctrine.

Today street preaching has taken the backseat and stage preaching is the in
thing. Every Preacher, Worshipper has a price tag and the price tag
increases as per the crowd he or she draws and we see these stage
performers are well connected to each other, one big clan. Internally they
may not get alone with each other but on the face they will show an undying
love and will recommend each other. This is a sad thing but this is the
truth.

Let us get it into us all the pleasures and riches of this world is not
worth if we are to lose our access to Heaven and eternal life on Judgment
Day. Jesus himself said it is almost impossible for a rich person to enter
the Kingdom and yet we try to prove Him wrong. When it comes to the natural
we are called not to be poor or in want, we are called to be satisfied of
our needs (not wants) but when it comes to spiritual matters we are called
to be rich in spirit, blessed abundantly.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Almighty God and everything that exist belongs to You. Gold
and silver of this world is like dust for You, what You value in us things
more precious than all the gold in the world You desire Fruits of the
Spirit in us. Lord open our eyes to know and understand the value of things
visible and thing invisible. As we pursue the invisible Heaven so also may
we pursue the invisible riches and not the visible junk...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Mt 19:23-24
23 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich
man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven.
24 And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the
eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

Jas 2:5 Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this
world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to
them that love him?

Christ the stumbling rock

Romans 9:33 even as it is written, Behold, I lay in Zion a stone of
stumbling and a rock of offence: And he that believeth on him shall not be
put to shame.

Lord is always pictured as being very nice and pleasing but the Bible also
gives a side of God which we do not want to see. If the Bible says the Lord
is slow to anger, we conveniently forget He does get anger even though His
patience keeps Him tolerating us for long. God forgets but does not forget,
so when a person backslides He accounts it unto the person double. God
calls Himself as Jealous (Zealous) God and is possessive of His children.
He himself will punish His people at the hands of others but will not let
them over do the punishment, and if they do He utterly destroys them. In
the OT Christ is pictured as lamb, ram, and buffalo, as well as a snake. He
is symbolized as the brass serpent (symbolizing cursed) that was lifted up
on the pole which people lifted their eyes to and were saved from the wrath
of God.

In today’s message we see another image of Christ as a stumbling rock which
people do not like. It is not just Paul but even Peter refers to Christ as
a stumbling rock. Christ is a rock that comes in the way of our worldly
lives.

We see Jesus in Matthew 21:44 refers to the Word as a rock which has to
have an impact on a person, either they fall on the rock or let the rock
fall on them and crush them. Those who surrender to the Word are those who
receive the truth and walk in light but those who do not surrender walk in
darkness and are crushed.

Yesterday the Lord spoke to us about attending to the confusion amongst us
and today He speaks about the stumbling rock.

People may say I have surrendered my life to Christ but they need to
understand surrendering to Christ is not a one time job, we need to
surrender to His Word every day, in and out. He is telling us, we need to
break ourselves everyday as the Word ministers to us and if we do not do it
then the Word will break us, which is dangerous.

Let us not take the Word of God for granted and think we know it. Let us
humble ourselves before the Word and let the Word minister to us every
day.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Awesome God. Your glory fills the Heavens and keeps on growing
and growing for You are a Living God who does great works amongst your
people. Lord we pray as we be instruments in your hands to do your work we
also learn to surrender to You and your Word so that your Word works in us
and makes us better instruments...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Nu 21:9 And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it
came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the
serpent of brass, he lived.

Joh 3:14-15
14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the
Son of man be lifted up:
15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal
life.

1Pe 2:8 And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them
which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were
appointed.

Mt 21:44 And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on
whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.

Joh 11:9 Jesus answered, Are there not twelve hours in the day? If any man
walk in the day, he stumbleth not, because he seeth the light of this world..

no light in him.

Be of the same mind

Philippians 4:2 I beseech Euodias, and beseech Syntyche, that they be of
the same mind in the Lord.

There are some verses in which Paul instructs women (wives) to be
subordinate to man (husbands) and not to speak up (loud) in a congregation,
but they do not realize Paul was always surrounded by women who were
holding key positions in churches. Women were as active in leading the
congregation as much as men were.

In today’s message the two women of the Church of Philippa whom Paul
instructs to come to the same understanding were not having some worldly
differences but theological differences and they being church leaders were
causing confusion amongst the congregation.

Those who Pastor (shepherd/mentor) others in Christ should themselves make
it a point to study and discuss the Word with others so that all have the
same understanding. The Holy Spirit is unable to reveal everything to
everyone, it is not because He cannot but it is because we do not listen.
Each one of us learns different things in different areas thus it is
important for us to share with each other and be of one mind and one
understanding. During the times of Apostles they had Peter, John, James,
Paul and Barnabas to overlook into these matters.

If we go into the names of these to women Euodias means fragment and comes
from the root word prosper (good way) and Syntyche means fate. Our worldly
future and our spiritual future is always at loggerheads at each other. If
we are going to listen to both we will always be at confusion. We should
not listen to one and be deaf to the other, we need to stop both from
confusing us and follow only what the Word of God tells us.

Let the Word of God bet the lamp unto our feet (guide our personal lives)
and light to our path (guide us all as one body to our final destination
that is Heaven).

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Almighty God. You are Omnipresent and Omnipotent. There is
nothing that You do not know and nothing You cannot do. Yet You work
through Your Word and Spirit through man to accomplish all that is already
set for man. Lord may we learn to surrender more and more to your Word and
not fall prey to confusion...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Php 1:27 Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of
Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of
your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving
together for the faith of the gospel;

Ps 119:105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

Pr 13:9 The light of the righteous rejoiceth: but the lamp of the wicked
shall be put out.

Job 23:13 But he is in one mind, and who can turn him? and what his soul
desireth, even that he doeth.

Ro 12:16 Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but
condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.

Our Heavenly inheritance

1 Peter :3,4 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which
according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope
by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, To an inheritance
incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven
for you,

In today’s message we see Peter who was mocked to his weird understanding
(he was named Cephas meaning ‘small stones’ for this) has written such deep
revelation which competes even with that of Paul’s later epistles.

We see Peter speaks to us about the hope [not confirmation] we have by our
faith in the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. Our possibility to go
to Heaven was nil until Christ came and by His sacrifice and resurrection
opened the gates of Heaven for us. This was the covenant which the Lord had
made with Jacob while travelling from Beersheba to Haran when He showed him
a vision of a ladder going to Heaven and Angels going up and down the
ladder. What God had shut to Adam and his generations when Adam sinned and
God placed Cherubs between Heaven and our creation (the upper and lower
realms) was now attainable as part of the covenant.

Heaven is a spirit realm and in Revelation what John was shown as made of
precious stones and gold was a symbolic representation of it. Peter in
today’s message tries to describe the things of Heaven in three words
incorruptible, undefiled and that fadeth not, the Greek words actually mean
indestructible, that does not change and eternal respectively.

Spiritual things are very unlike natural things and more real than natural
things. It is our worldly carnal understanding which prevent us from
understanding spiritual things that is why the Lord says what eye has not
seen, nor ear has heard, neither man imagined are set for us in Heaven.

When the Lord opened my understanding to a few things of Heaven, it just
fails me to even imagine it or picturise it. I can only do so with its
symbolic earthly representation. For example a simple thing like asking
someone to imagine an infinite ball is impossible. An object that is finite
can only have a shape anything that is infinite cannot be given a shape yet
heavenly things are like that.

Let us stop wasting our life after perishable and vain things that give
temporary joy. Let us focus on the things that are imperishable, unchanging
and eternal.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Almighty and Holy God. Your ways are unlike the ways of man.
The things of Heaven are unknown to man and far from his imagine for man is
corrupt in all ways. Lord we pray You open our eyes so that we see the
things hidden from man since ages, that we may be more energized to seek it
and lead others to it...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Genesis 28:10-14
10 And Jacob went out from Beersheba, and went toward Haran.
11 And he lighted upon a certain place, and tarried there all night,
because the sun was set; and he took of the stones of that place, and put
them for his pillows, and lay down in that place to sleep.
12 And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of
it reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God ascending and descending
on it.
13 And, behold, the LORD stood above it, and said, I am the LORD God of
Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac: the land whereon thou liest, to
thee will I give it, and to thy seed;
14 And thy seed shall be as the dust of the earth, and thou shalt spread
abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south:
and in thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed.

1 Corinthians 2:9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard,
neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath
prepared for them that love him.

Romans 1:20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world
are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his
eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

From Breach to Sulphurous springs

Acts 28: 13 And from thence we fetched a compass, and came to Rhegium: and
after one day the south wind blew, and we came the next day to Puteoli:

Many a times we do not realize a simple scripture may give profound depth
of revelation if we do Bible word study. Like today’s message it speaks of
two places Rhegium and Puteoli. One may wonder why these places are
mentioned, Luke did not name every place they passed by nor state any
incident that happened at Rhegium, yet named it. It does help to know the
route Paul took through his various travels but there is more to it than
what meets our eyes.

One sister based on her understanding of English translations of 3
scriptures was stating after death we do not go to Heaven nor go to Hell.
She felt we will continue living forever here on earth even after Judgment
Day!

In today’s message the two places are Latin names and have a meaning.
Rhegium means ‘Breach’ and Puteoli means ‘Sulphurous Springs’.

The Bible uses every word with purpose and that is for our understanding of
the hidden things. We know all those who do not believe in the Lord Jesus
Christ /God and His salvation will go to Hell. In Hell they suffer their
sins until the end of their spirit life which is very, very long. One
Judgment Day all who believe will rise and face Judgment. The sheep (who do
the will of the Father) will be separated from the goats (who do not do the
will of the Father). The sheep will enter the Kingdom of God (Heaven) and
the goats will suffer the Lake of Fire (also called Lake of Sulphur).

We also know Heaven, Hell or Lake of Fire is not a natural place, for Bible
says flesh and blood cannot inherit the Kingdom of God (Heaven). So the
word Sulphur used to describe Lake of Fire has a symbolic purpose. If we
study the chemical it has a unique property which is used even in medical
industry due to this.

Humans have the ability to overcome or adapt to almost anything to a great
extend including things like pain, smell, heat etc. Yesterday I saw a video
clip of an Indian in Hyderabad (I assume so) who with bare hands was
holding a high voltage wire and working with it, anybody else would have
died doing this.

But we see there is one chemical which man’s body cannot adapt to and that
is Sulphur. Sulphur has the same effect on the first day as it would years
and years later.

Bible tells us those who believe will not suffer their sins like those who
do not believe and are forgiven, but if they believe and yet do not do the
will of the Father they will not enter Heaven but suffer for rejecting the
Word and Will of the Father. This suffering will be as terrible on the
initial moment as it would after a very, very long time till it ceases to
exist (a spirit can live eternal only in Heaven and nowhere else).

Being in the IT service industry we live by SLAs (Service Level Agreement).
In our SLA the quality of service is defined by parameters and if the
parameters are not met then it is considered a breach, and breach means
penalty.

By or faith in Christ we receive grace. Grace is not a free ticket to do
anything or to justify anything. God does expect change in us thus gave us
a Helper (His Spirit). If we do not meet the expectation of change even
after receiving His sacrifice we breach the covenant with God.

Today’s message tells us if we breach the covenant with God than we will
not suffer Hell but suffer the Lake of Sulphur.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Almighty and Merciful God. Lord your mercy does not negate
your Righteousness. You do show mercy before You judge. Lord we pray we do
not take your grace for granted. You have paid a great price for us so that
we could be reconciled back to You. We pray we honor that price and we make
the efforts to walk the path of change with the help of your Spirit so that
we do not suffer the Lake of Sulphur but partake of your glory in Heaven...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
1 Corinthians 15:50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot
inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.

Matthew 25:31-46

Matthew 7:21-23

Revelation 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and
murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars,
shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone
[burning Sulphur]: which is the second death.

Revelation 20:13-15
13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell
delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man
according to their works.
14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second
death.
15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into
the lake of fire.

Will daughters enter Heaven?

Zechariah 2:10 Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion: for, lo, I come, and
I will dwell in the midst of thee, saith the LORD.

It has been a very long time since I have written on symbolism of names of
places given in the Bible. All names in the Bible have meanings and that
meaning (especially of places) have a purpose in the spiritual story of
mankind.

Egypt means ‘land of Copts’ it is roots from the words ‘land of two sieges’
and the occupants of the land Egyptians mean ‘dual-strait’ - ‘people of
two rivers’ it symbolizes people who live two lives - children of God
living a worldly life. Thus exodus from Egypt symbolizes baptism of a lost
soul and is the reason starts with crossing the Red Sea (It was called the
Reed Sea later changed to Red Sea and reed symbolizes destruction of
prosperity). Every stage after that is a shadow of our spiritual walk.

Even names of other places have symbolic meanings, some of them I will list
- Jerusalem (teaching of peace - people who seek peace), Judah (people who
worship / know God - symbolizes Believers), Samaria (stony mountain -
people with heretic understanding), Israel (Princes of God - Sons of God).
Similarly Zion means ‘parched place’ meaning ‘an example lot’ - speaks of
the stage of spiritual authority which Sons of God / Israel exhibit). In
simple words our spiritual life journey is our journey from Egypt to Israel
/ Zion. The land beyond the river Jordan (meaning inheritance) was called
Israel; this means true Israel were men of authority having inheritance of
the Kingdom of God (Jesus Christ as man was the first true Israel - a man
of authority).

Another factor we need to get it in us that we have male and female gender
in the natural but both of them in spirit had the same gender when God
created us thus in Genesis 1 we see although it is written male and female
yet both are addressed with the same gender ‘male’. In the natural man
(Adam) was made in the image of God and woman (Eve) was made from the bone
(symbolizing character) of man. So in the beginning even though in the
natural Adam was male and Eve female yet in the spiritual they both were
male.

In the natural image / flesh man represents God/Christ and woman represents
man in the man - female relationship. If both are led in the Spirit then
their male nor female gender is not considered.

If we read the OT we will never find verses where God directly rebuking
Israel or Sons of Zion even though He rebuked the Israelites. We find He
normally refers them to children of Jacob ("heel holder" or "supplanter" -
cunning person) while rebuking even though He called Jacob as Israel.

Like our spiritual journey is from Egypt to Israel, similarly our journey
is also from daughters to sons. It was for this reason we find scriptures
where God states inheritance is only for sons even though He advised
earthly inheritance to be given also to daughters.

We will enter Heaven only when we are transformed into Sons of God. Jesus
said after resurrection we will be like the Angels (also called Sons of
God) who neither marry or given in marriage. Our only relationship would be
with God whom we called Father and with each other as brethren. What we
will carry there is our testimony in Christ.

When we hear word like ‘Queen of Heaven’ or ‘Mother of God’ we do not
realize they are declarations stating that fallen angels yet having access
or hold in Heaven. When Catholics talk of Mary as Queen in Heaven do not
realize Mary if she meets us in Heaven after Judgment Day would be another
Angel or Son of God.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You alone are God and there is none other than You. Spiritually we are
called Sons because we are made in your image. Lord we pray we overcome the
natural gender and look at our spiritual gender. We pray we understand our
spiritual stage in our spiritual journey from Egypt to Israel.

[Reference Scriptures]
Zechariah 2:10-13
10 Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion: for, lo, I come, and I will dwell
in the midst of thee, saith the LORD.
11 And many nations shall be joined to the LORD in that day, and shall be
my people: and I will dwell in the midst of thee, and thou shalt know that
the LORD of hosts hath sent me unto thee.
12 And the LORD shall inherit Judah his portion in the holy land, and
shall choose Jerusalem again.
13 Be silent, O all flesh, before the LORD: for he is raised up out of his
holy habitation.

Genesis 1:26-27
26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let
them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air,
and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing
that creepeth upon the earth.
27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he
him; male and female created he them.

Genesis 2:7,21-23
7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into
his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
21 And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept:
and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;
22 And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman,
and brought her unto the man.
23 And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she
shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.

Revelation 19:10 And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto
me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that
have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the
spirit of prophecy.

Zeal not according to knowledge

Romans 10:2 For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not
according to knowledge.

Christians think by reading the Word of God and by studying things
connected to Christianity, they will be better and spiritually more
powerful Christians. This is a falsehood they dwell in.

Knowledge like in today’s message will not invoke the right zeal. In
another verse we see Paul says worldly knowledge puffs a person, even if it
is knowledge concerning the Bible and of things concerning Christianity.
The Greek word for knowledge is ‘epignosis’, it is compound of ‘on’ and
‘learning’.

We should be aware like we have knowledge of things of this world we can
have knowledge of the Bible and of the ‘Christian Religion’.. There is a
difference between knowledge and understanding, knowing things and
understanding them are two different things.

Knowledge is not evil but unless we have wisdom, knowledge which is good
can have the opposite effect on us. Wisdom processes knowledge and brings
understanding. Understanding increases wisdom and thus allows us to process
greater knowledge. Wisdom can come as a gift from God or can come from
experience. So to gain wisdom we can pray or we can suffer for a long
period, it is our choice.

Zeal based on the understanding of the Kingdom of God will take us in the
right direction. It will mold the character in us, correcting us as we grow
in spirit. But zeal based on knowledge will mostly make us self-righteous.
The Pharisees were people of great zeal for God but since their zeal was
based in knowledge and not understanding they became self-righteous and
religious people.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Awesome God. You know everything and your wisdom is beyond
measure and You God have given us your Spirit of Truth who blesses us with
understanding and thus builds wisdom in us. Lord we pray we seek not just
knowledge but seek understanding of your Kingdom. We pray we seek your
righteousness and not ours...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Romans 10:2-4
2 For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according
to knowledge.
3 For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to
establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the
righteousness of God.
4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that
believeth.

Romans 1:28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their
knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which
are not convenient;

Romans 11:33-35
33 O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how
unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!
34 For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his
counsellor?
35 Or who hath first given to him, and it shall be recompensed unto him
again?

Luke 2:40, 43, 46-47
40 And the child [Jesus] grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with
wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him.
43 And when they had fulfilled the days, as they returned, the child Jesus
tarried behind in Jerusalem; and Joseph and his mother knew not of it.
46 And it came to pass, that after three days they found him in the
temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them, and asking
them questions.
47 And all that heard him were astonished at his understanding and answers..

Dangers of fasting

Acts 27:9 And when considerable time had passed and the voyage was now
dangerous, since even the fast was already over, Paul began to admonish
them, (Act 27:9 NAS)

When I was new in the Lord I was always told fasting is to prayer like fuel
(petrol) is to fire. The Greek word ‘nesteia’ translated as fasting comes
from the word which means to abstain from food or drink.

The Jews fasted like the Muslims (Mohammed learnt fasting from the Jews),
they do not eat nor drink for that day (morning sunrise to sunset), this is
called Ta’anit - a full fast. The Jews also have a minor fast which is more
like an evening fast. They all together fast almost 25days in a year with
some 4 days being a necessity. They fast for repentance and to memorize a
day in history (like the destruction of the temple and breaking of the
tablets by Moses).

Jesus was not against fasting but His disciples did not fast even on the
Jewish days of fasting and this angered the Jews so as to question Jesus.
Jesus Himself fasted only once that is the 40days in the wilderness and as
explained before He did this to be weakened and tempted by Satan (the same
3 temptations which Adam and Eve went through) so that we learn from Him
how to over them. He also fasted to be considered a Rabbi so as to be able
to preach in the synagogues, this was according the school of Moses; the
other usual way was the school of Samuel which required training for a
period under another Rabbi.

Fasting among Christians is become like Rosary among Catholics. Catholics
think Rosary is a powerful instrument for prayer similar to Christians
thinking fasting is to prayer, both err. Rosary kills the purpose of
prayer; it is the most powerful tool of Satan which keeps Catholics under
bondage and does not allow them to communicate with God. God desires our
prayers to be our feelings, our cries from the heart and not repetitive
words. Fasting had such a hold on the Catholic Church traditions that they
even modified the verse Matthew 17:21 around 1000years later and added the
words ‘and fasting’ to it (these words are missing in the earlier
manuscripts).

Fasting is neither a means to punish the body nor to control the flesh,
like other religions believe it to be. Biblically Fasting is not just
abstaining from food; the Hebrew word for fasting comes from the root
meaning ‘to cover the mouth’ thus means to hold back ones’ self. We see
biblically fasting meant restraining something worldly which one desired
this could be food or even other things. Daniel fasted by eating simple
bread amongst the grand buffets laid for kings. In today’s era we can fast
by restraining ourselves from the worldly pleasures which keep us
occupied. The purpose of Fasting is to build faith, it is to make us
spiritually concentrate on a promise or be tuned to God thus it is more a
spiritual activity than a natural activity. It is for this reason Jesus
recommended in the natural we be normal and not show it as repentance.

Fasting is a powerful tool for those weak in faith, they should understand
it purpose and procedure else this same tool can be a powerful weapon of
spiritual destruction since it will make a person spiritually inert and
lead him or her to becoming a religious person.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Almighty God and You are Spirit. You desire we worship You in
Spirit and Truth. Works of the flesh will never bring us closer to You
instead can drive us to become self-righteous. Lord we pray we understand
the purpose of Fasting and do it only for that purpose. We pray we do not
become a religious lot...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Nehemiah 9:1 Now in the twenty and fourth day of this month the children
of Israel were assembled with fasting, and with sackclothes, and earth upon
them.

Isaiah 58:4 Behold, ye fast for strife and debate, and to smite with the
fist of wickedness: ye shall not fast as ye do this day, to make your voice
to be heard on high.

Matthew 17:21 Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer [and fasting].

Acts 27:33-37
33 And while the day was coming on, Paul besought them all to take meat,
saying, This day is the fourteenth day that ye have tarried and continued
fasting, having taken nothing.
34 Wherefore I pray you to take some meat: for this is for your health:
for there shall not an hair fall from the head of any of you.
35 And when he had thus spoken, he took bread, and gave thanks to God in
presence of them all: and when he had broken it, he began to eat.
36 Then were they all of good cheer, and they also took some meat.
37 And we were in all in the ship two hundred threescore and sixteen souls..

Combinations and permutations

Romans 9:16 So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that
runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.

I love to watch sci-fi movies because it projects the limited understanding
of man to the unknown. Currently the movie ‘Avengers Infinity War’ which is
doing the box office has one character named Dr. Strange who holds time
power (Time stone) and sees all the possibilities in the future to defeat
their enemy and sums it 14 million to 1.

People call God ‘supernatural’ not realizing they are making Him natural
but only superior. Almost all so called religions show supernatural
god/gods. They do not realize they are worshiping humans or angels (fallen
angels) since they alone are supernatural.

Today’s message talks of God choosing whom He would have mercy on and whom
He would not. We see an example of Moses and Pharaoh given after this
scripture. When human looks at it with human mind and understanding there
are two conclusions that get derived on this - one God is directing
everything, a case of puppets and a puppeteer. In such a case God gets
blamed for everything and mankind turns to be mostly innocent. In the
second case God knows the possibilities - combinations and permutations and
works man within those to get what He desires. Here the blame is
fifty-fifty, man fails due to his failure and because God failed to
intervene at the right time.

If we look at the Bible it goes in a different direction compared to the
above two. It talks of a situation where all the characters already exist
and the story mainline is already written so people who are aligned to a
time-space play their role and bring results according to their soul
(inner-man) they; God knows beforehand knows who will bring what result.
The main play here is the state of the inner-man at the end for which man
is responsible, and not what he does or what he does not.

We are talking of a God who sees all and knows all, a God for whom time or
space is not a restriction or parameter that binds Him. Yet we see He
stands outside and lets His Son who is a part Him, who humbled Himself, to
bring things into order and take things to a greater glory.

Let us not think we can blame God for the ills in our lives or take credit
for the great things in our lives. If God (The Son) were to not intervene
by Him pouring His mercy every now and then, we would see nothing but
disasters. So let us every day when we get up and every day when we go to
sleep, thank God for His mercies.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Omnipotent and Omnipresent God there is nothing that You
cannot do and nothing that You do not know. Yet we read in your Word where
man has surprised You or made You repent. Lord we pray we understand You
and your Son and understand all things are beyond our power yet our life’s
direction is within our power, if we live eternal life or not is in our
hands for You have in your mercy made it possible. Lord we thank You for
your mercies every day...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Proverbs 8:10 Receive my instruction, and not silver; and knowledge rather
than choice gold.

Psalms 25:12 What man is he that feareth the LORD? him shall he teach in
the way that he shall choose.

Isaiah 7:15 Butter and honey shall he eat, that he may know to refuse the
evil, and choose the good.

Philippians 1:21-26
21 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
22 But if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labour: yet what I
shall choose I wot not.
23 For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be
with Christ; which is far better:
24 Nevertheless to abide in the flesh is more needful for you.
25 And having this confidence, I know that I shall abide and continue with
you all for your furtherance and joy of faith;
26 That your rejoicing may be more abundant in Jesus Christ for me by my
coming to you again.

John 8:28 Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of
man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but
as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things.

John 13:15 For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have
done to you.

Bride of Christ due to Abraham

James 2:23 And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed
God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the
Friend of God.

Today’s topic is one topic many people have disagreed with me mainly
because the worldly concept of ‘friend’ overpowers them. They think
husband-wife can be friends so also can brethren, or children with parents.
If we Google the definition of the word friend it says ‘a person with whom
one has a bond of mutual affection, typically one exclusive of sexual or
family relations’. That means two people are friends if they are not
related by blood or not having intimate physical (sexual) relationship with
each other.

In Greek the word Philo is translated as friend. The problem is that this
word has multiple renderings so can be mistranslated as friend, the only
way to confirm it like in today’s scripture which refers to scriptures from
the OT, so we can confirm from the OT since the Hebrew word does not have
the problem which the Greek word has. The main OT scripture which is
translated as Abraham being a friend is Isaiah 41:8 (repeated in 2
Chronicles 20:7), if we look up the Hebrew word translated as friend, it is
the word ‘ahab’ which actually means ‘love’ and not ‘friend’.

God (Christ - YHWH [Yahweh] in Hebrew means Behold the Hand Behold the
Nail) called Abraham His love and not friend. We the children of Abraham
are called the bride of Christ because Abraham was called the love of God.

Let us understand the power of being family, especially of Christ. Let us
not let the foolish worldly understanding make us lose the power and
authority of being a brethren and love of Christ.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are God. Man is a miniscule creature created by You yet You love
him greatly that You gave a great sacrifice to save him. Lord we pray we do
not lose the great things You have make available for us due to worldly
foolishness. We pray we understand our relationship with You better...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Isaiah 41:8 But thou, Israel, art my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen,
the seed of Abraham my friend.

2 Chronicles 20:7 Art not thou our God, who didst drive out the
inhabitants of this land before thy people Israel, and gavest it to the
seed of Abraham thy friend for ever?

Psalms 35:14 I behaved myself as though he had been my friend [rea] or
brother: I bowed down heavily, as one that mourneth for his mother.

Psalms 88:17-18
17 They came round about me daily like water; they compassed me about
together.
18 Lover [ahab] and friend [rea] hast thou put far from me, and mine
acquaintance [yada] into darkness.
