Circumcision of Jesus

Galatians 6:15 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any
thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature.

These few days we have been ministered about spirit and flesh, of how we
need to be renewed in spirit to enter the Kingdom of God. What we do in the
natural is not that important as that which we do in the spirit; we were
also told what we hold in the spirit should reflect in the natural. That
means if we have the Fruits of the Holy Spirit they cannot be hidden, they
need to shine in us.

A question which many raise is ‘are Christians called to be circumcised’?
We go by the teaching of the Apostles which is clear that we are called to
be circumcised in the spirit and not in the flesh. That is why we do not
follow the Jewish tradition of circumcision (also followed by the Muslims).
Circumcision of the spirit is what baptism in the Spirit does for us; it
cuts the carnal desires within us and renews us.

A few who try to follow the Word in verbatim ask ‘why did Jesus get
circumcised’.

Circumcision was a statute given by the Lord to the children of Abraham.
The children born of the flesh did circumcision of the flesh and those born
of the spirit were called to do circumcision of the spirit. We who are
children of the promise are children are Abraham in spirit so are called
for spiritual circumcision. Jesus as a Jew had neither to be circumcised
either in the flesh nor the spirit for He was not born with blemish (no
carnal desires / sin nature was in Him).

We need to understand Jesus as adult also did things just to be accepted by
the Jews so that He could fulfill the mission He came for. For example His
40days fasting in the desert had two purposes one that He could be weakened
so as to be tempted by Satan and be an example for us to overcome
temptation. The other reason of His 40days fast was so as to get qualified
as a Rabbi (according to Moses) so that He could minister in the
Synagogues. The normal process to become a Rabbi (according to the school
of Samuel) would be to be trained under another Rabbi as the path Paul Saul
undertook before he came to know Christ.

In today’s message Paul reiterates what we do in the natural does not
matter, what matters more is what we do in the spirit. Unless we are
spiritually Christians our natural activities as Christians (praying,
worship, giving alms, tithing, ministering etc.) is of no relevance or
importance. Let us not keep ourselves busy playing ‘Christianity’ or
playing ‘Church’ but let us be spiritual Christians and a spiritual Church
(Body of Christ).

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Almighty God and You are Spirit. Your Word says You desire
your people to worship You in spirit and in truth. Lord we pray we
understand You see the hearts and minds and not our external actions. What
we do external should originate from the inside and the Fruits within shine
for other to see and glorify You...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Matthew 23:25-28
25 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the
outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of
extortion and excess.
26 Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first that which is within the cup and
platter, that the outside of them may be clean also.
27 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto
whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within
full of dead men’s bones, and of all uncleanness.
28 Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are
full of hypocrisy and iniquity.

Mark 7:18-23
18 And he saith unto them, Are ye so without understanding also? Do ye not
perceive, that whatsoever thing from without entereth into the man, it
cannot defile him;
19 Because it entereth not into his heart, but into the belly, and goeth
out into the draught, purging all meats?
20 And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man.
21 For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts,
adulteries, fornications, murders,
22 Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye,
blasphemy, pride, foolishness:
23 All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.

Personal choice yet collective operation

1 Corinthians 7:16, 17 For what knowest thou, O wife, whether thou shalt
save thy husband? or how knowest thou, O man, whether thou shalt save thy
wife? But as God hath distributed to every man, as the Lord hath called
every one, so let him walk. And so ordain I in all churches.

I had mentioned before in pervious messages that salvation is a personal
choice and no man can save another man other than help the person choose
salvation. Even the man Jesus Christ is called our Savior not because He
saves us but because He made a way for our salvation when no other way was
there. That means I need to choose His way then only I can be saved. Also
His Spirit does not force us alone the way which He has made available. His
Spirit is called our Helper since He helps; unless we ask for help or opt
the help of a helper no helper will be able to help.

Today’s message says husband cannot save his wife nor a wife can save a
husband even though they are considered one in spirit. The oneness of
husband and wife in spirit is like the oneness of the church that means
even though they are committed to each other they yet need to of one mind,
one purpose and one understanding. By just gathering together and
worshipping together a congregation does not become Church.

Like relationship in marriage does not guaranty salvation nor does our
relationship with our children. God is called the God of Abraham, Isaac and
Jacob, even though Abraham had more than one child; so also Isaac too had
more than one child.

Today’s message also says all in the church even if they are of one mind,
one understanding and one purpose yet each one’s spiritual walk will be
different. We cannot judge another person’s spiritual walk we can only
discern the direction of the walk. We can correct a brethren only of he or
she is walking away from Christ and not because he or she is walking slow
or walking in a zigzag fashion. For such a person we can only pray,
encourage and be an inspiration.

Let us get it in us none of us is perfect and will be perfect by ourselves.
We will become perfect collectively as a body and that’s when we qualify as
His Bride.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are mighty God and You alone are perfect. None in your creation is
perfect other than You. As man in flesh Jesus Himself said He too was not
perfect only You are perfect. Lord let us understand salvation better and
understand our earthly relationship does not affect our spiritual
relationship in Heaven; our spiritual relationship in Heaven is founded on
our relationship in Christ. Help us Lord to choose Christ always and take
help of His Spirit always...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
John 3:3-6
3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee,
Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he
enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born?
5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of
water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the
Spirit is spirit.

Matthew 22:29-30
29 Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the
scriptures, nor the power of God.
30 For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage,
but are as the angels of God in heaven.

Putting Faith into Action

James 2:18, 19, 20 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works:
shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my
works. Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils
also believe, and tremble. But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith
without works is dead?

Yesterday the Lord spoke to us about being in the flesh and being in the
Spirit. Only those who are in the Spirit are called genuine Christians
while the remaining are called either Gentiles (lost sheep) or Pagans (not
God’s children).

When Bible says be led by the Spirit it does not mean we do not act in the
natural, like only praying and not physically reaching out to the lost.
Today’s topic talks of faith which is although spiritual, without its
manifestation in the natural it is worthless and cannot be defined as faith..

The works which James is talking of is not works of righteousness or works
of the Law. That means all ‘good works’ or social service we do has nothing
to do with faith, that also does not mean we should not do social service.
We should understand when we reach out to the sick, needy or homeless what
we do in the natural should be led by the spiritual i.e. when we look after
the sick our purpose should be that God heals them thus we should pray over
them and not just look after them. The same is with the homeless and the
hunger, even though we feed them or give them shelter we should make them
to come into relationship with the true Provider and Protector.

In today’s message we see James takes an excellent example, he says devils
(fallen angels) know God and also tremble in fear of God, but they do
neither abide in Him nor seek Him.

Let us not be like the fallen angels who are aware of things but are
hollow. Let us seek God and seek His Kingdom. Let the spiritual manifest in
the natural so that the glory of God may shine in this world which the Lord
has given us.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You alone are God and all glory belongs to You alone. Lord You made is
spirit beings and put our spirits into the flesh to make us natural being
so that we be renewed in the spirit and be eligible to enter your Kingdom
once again. Lord we pray we battle not against the natural flesh which You
made us in but the carnal flesh which we received from Adam. Purge us from
the branch of Adam and into the Branch Jesus Christ...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
James 2:21-26
21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered
Isaac his son upon the altar?
22 Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith
made perfect?
23 And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and
it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend
[Lover / Associate] of God.
24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only..
25 Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had
received the messengers, and had sent them out another way?
26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is
dead also.

Worship of Baal

Acts 17: 23 For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an
altar with this inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Whom therefore ye
ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you.

People have a wrong assumption that Baal is the Devil and people who
worship Baal worship the Devil. They may not be fully wrong but they also
may not be fully right.

The Hebrew word Baal means ‘lord’ and also used for our God but used when
people did not know Him thus refers to an unknown god. In Judges we see the
next generation Israelites which came out of Egypt started worshipping
Baal. It is written they did not know the Lord therefore worshipped Baal;
what is interesting to note is the goddess Ashtoreth / Queen of Heaven is
mostly connected to Baal worship.

Even today we see many ‘Christians’ still worship Baal when they worship
the Lord Jesus Christ whom they do not know. They worship a picture which
they are told is Jesus, they do not discern simple facts that Jesus was a
Jew and not a European so how could His picture be that of a European?

These people call Jesus their Savior but then go to this goddess whom they
think is Mary the mother of Jesus to help their Savior to save them! They
do not realize their ‘Mary’ is the same goddess Ashtoreth which deceived
the Jews and other nations to worship her. A person like Solomon who was
known for his wisdom acted foolish because he could not control his
affection for his wives. We see Catholics and other so called ‘Christians’
are deceived under the notion of respecting the ‘mother’ into worshiping
Ashtoreth. They are blinded by this deity and made to not know the Lord
Jesus Christ and His Spirit. The word Ashtoreth / Ashtaroth means ‘star’
and one of the titles or epithets of Mary is ‘Star of the Sea’ (sea -
biblically symbolizes worldly people).

Our last few messages have been concentrated at making us aware of our
earthly relationship ends with our earthly bodies. The moment we or our
earthly family member or relatives dies they cease to be connected to us,
what we hold is only their testimony and the promises or curses which they
made available while they were in the flesh. Bible says the blessings or
curses of the living are transferred to those yet to come but not of the
dead to the living. That means my blessing will be carried forward to my
daughter and her generations up to a hundred (if there be any) and my
curses (if not in the Lord) up to 4 generations. But nothing more will be
added or passed on once I sleep in the Lord for I cease to be a father,
grandfather or great grandfather etc... That is why biblically Abram is
called the father of Isaac as well as Jacob and all the Jews down many
generations because his blessings were available to them.

Bible says on resurrection we all will be like the Angels having no father,
mother, brother, sister, son, daughter, husband nor wife. They will have
only one Father which is the Lord and only one relationship of brethren
with all other Heavenly beings. That means if the real Mary the mother of
Jesus does meet us in Heaven she will not be she but will be our brethren,
another Son of God (Angels do not have earthly genders).

Because we are more led by human sentiments and not the Word of God, is the
reason we are deceived to worship Baal. Let us trust the Word of God more
than our emotions. Let us remember Adam the first human sinned because he
failed to correct his wife since he loved her more than God.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are God and our eternal Father. Your Word says unless we are not
willing to leave our father, mother, brother or sister for your sake we are
not worthy of You. Help us Lord to understand our spiritual relationships
are more important than our earthly relationships, that our earthly
relationships help us understand our spiritual relationships better. We
pray we fulfill our earthly relationships but value our spiritual
relationships more...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Judges 2:10-13
10 And also all that generation were gathered unto their fathers: and
there arose another generation after them, which knew not the LORD, nor yet
the works which he had done for Israel.
11 And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD, and
served Baalim:
12 And they forsook the LORD God of their fathers, which brought them out
of the land of Egypt, and followed other gods, of the gods of the people
that were round about them, and bowed themselves unto them, and provoked
the LORD to anger.
13 And they forsook the LORD, and served Baal and Ashtaroth.

1 Kings 16:32 And he reared up an altar for Baal in the house of Baal,
which he had built in Samaria [Northern Israel].

Jeremiah 7:18 The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire,
and the women knead their dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven, and
to pour out drink offerings unto other gods, that they may provoke me to
anger.

1 Kings 11:5 For Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the
Zidonians, and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites.

Joshua 9:10 And all that he did to the two kings of the Amorites, that
were beyond Jordan, to Sihon king of Heshbon, and to Og king of Bashan,
which was at Ashtaroth.

Hosea 2:16 And it shall be at that day, saith the LORD, that thou shalt
call me Ishi; and shalt call me no more Baali.

Glory of man is foolishness

1 Corinthians 3:19,20,21 a For the wisdom of this world is foolishness
with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.
And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain.
Therefore let no man glory in men...

When I discuss with Catholics it does not take me more than 1 hour or 2 to
open their eyes to the truth by exposing the deception of the belief they
are following. This is only possible when they believe the Word of God and
know its importance. If they do not believe the infallibility of the Word
of God then trying correct them is like pouring water on a ducks back.
These people believe in the infallibility of man but not of God. They are
the worldly wise which today’s message talks of, the ones who are pursuing
vanity and self-destruction.

This problem of lifting man above God is not restricted to just to the
Catholics and its denominations but also to Believer Christians. When
Christians blindly follow their Pastors, Preachers without verifying what
they say means they trust their leaders and guides more than Word of God.
When we are little and growing in the Lord it is understandable when we
swallow our food but as we grow in spirit we are called to have teeth of
discernment. Imagine a grownup having teeth yet swallowing food without
biting or chewing on it!

Just yesterday a sister was telling me a few days back as she was
translating for a preacher, she changed what he said for she discerned his
error and did not want to mislead the congregation.

We are not called to find mistakes in preachers and expose them but called
to not accept these mistakes. There might be times we may think they are
wrong but in fact they may be right, unless we approach them and get our
doubts clarified how are we going to know?

Another reason we make ourselves to believe things contrary to the Word is
because we know the truth will cause us to change, to give up on things
that which we love and which we do not want to give up when we love our
carnal desires more than we love God.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Almighty and Awesome God. You alone are perfect and none other
than You are perfect. You and your Word is perfect therefore never change.
Lord we pray we believe in your Word and your Word alone. Let your Word be
the lamp to our feet and light to our path. May it correct our live and
guide us as we walk ahead...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen

[Reference Scriptures]
Psalms 119:105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

Hebrews 5:11-14
11 Of whom we have many things to say, and hard to be uttered, seeing ye
are dull of hearing.
12 For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one
teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and
are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.
13 For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of
righteousness: for he is a babe.
14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who
by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

1 Corinthians 3:1-3
1 And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto
carnal, even as unto babes in Christ.
2 I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not
able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able.
3 For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and
strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?

Communication is important

1 Corinthians 14: 9, 10 So likewise ye, except ye utter by the tongue
words easy to be understood, how shall it be known what is spoken? for ye
shall speak into the air. There are, it may be, so many kinds of voices in
the world, and none of them is without signification.

When we travel to a foreign land one of the greatest problems we face is
communication. If we do not speak or understand the language of that place
then things can become a nightmare.

In a language the words we speak are nothing but short sound modulations
set in a pattern associated with objects or actions. The more complex or
many are the associations the more advanced the language, this makes the
communication clearer and very specific only if understood.

Like land (country, city, etc.) of origin or way of dressing is sentimental
to a person so also is language, it identifies the earthly background or
roots or culture of a person. The first denominational split in the Church
had happened because of difference of culture, people holding on to their
earthly identity more than their spiritual identity.

Today’s message tells us our communication has a purpose. When we
communicate with people, more important than how we communicate is what we
communicate. The Lord tells us even the sounds of things of nature are
communications and have a purpose. Birds, animals etc. communicate via the
sounds they make and understood between their species.

Man being a complex being has complex communication ability but this has
not made life easier but more difficult for it has caused divisions between
humans. Many a times the communication between us is not understood even if
we speak the same language since we make things complex and not simple.
What is sad is that we try this same earthly, complex approach with God and
then call it powerful prayers. A prayer is powerful not by the words or by
its volume or modulation but by the faith backing it. We talk of ‘finished
works’ of Christ but our prayers indicate the opposite.

Let us give a thought to our communication with people and with God. Let us
give importance to what we communicate than how we communicate.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are all knowing God nothing is hidden from You. You are
omnipresent, time is not a factor for You. You Lord know all and see all.
Lord let us realize You know our thought even before we open our mouths in
prayer. Let us not try to deceive You with words which are contrary to our
hearts. Also let us give care to our communication with people giving more
importance to what we communicate than how we communicate...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Acts 6:1 And in those days, when the number of the disciples was
multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Grecians against the Hebrews,
because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration.

Luke 23:38 And a superscription also was written over him in letters of
Greek, and Latin, and Hebrew, THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.

John 19:20 This title then read many of the Jews: for the place where
Jesus was crucified was nigh to the city: and it was written in Hebrew, and
Greek, and Latin.

Matthew 6:5-6
5 And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they
love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets,
that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward..
6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast
shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which
seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

Mark 11:24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye
pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

Manifesting how we speak

Colossians 4:3,4 At the same time, pray also for us, that God may open to
us a door for the word, to declare the mystery of Christ, on account of
which I am in prison- that I may make it clear, which is how I ought to
speak.

Yesterday the Lord spoke to us on what we speak is more important than the
language or means of communication we use to communicate. Today the Lord is
touching another area and that is the attitude we communicate in.

In today’s world maximum fights or misunderstandings happen between people
(especially people who know each other) because of the tone of their
communication. Because we cannot control our emotions we tend to let them
out on others in our communication. Whatever may be our emotional state we
should be careful in our communication, even not speaking a word at times
can communicate a lot, our attitude talks.

We as Christians should remember our relationship with God, as to how even
though we were unworthy yet He paid the price, tore the curtain separating
us so that we would communicate with Him and He could communicate His love
to us. Let us not install curtains between ourselves and people, especially
those who do not know Christ. Today’s message tells us when we speak to
those who do not know Christ we should use wisdom on how we conduct
ourselves before them. Our communication should be to the point and should
be full of grace, not people pleasing but bringing correction as and when
needed.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are our Heavenly Father and there none other than You. You God who
are all knowing and all seeing yet communicate with us and speak to us
through your Word and Spirit. You created man and know man, his weakness
and strength. You Lord transform man inside out and not the other way. Lord
we pray our communications be rich in content, not only in knowledge but
also in attitude and may our communication be specific to the point that it
edifies others...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

The Anti-Christ and the spirit of Anti-Christ

2 Thessalonians 2: 7, 8 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work:
only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. And
then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the
spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:

In our previous messages we have seen how the Lord pointed out our
ignorance to knowing the Lord Jesus Christ and His Kingdom. Today the Lord
is pointing out to our ignorance to knowing our enemy. Note I am putting as
‘our enemy’ and not the ‘Lord’s enemy’.

I today’s message the terms used for Satan is ‘Lawlessness’ in Greek which
is translated as ‘Wicked (one)’ in English. We need to understand the law
was given to by the Lord to save us and Satan always tries to make us break
the law so that we do not see the salvation of the Lord.

People are foolish when they consider Satan as a contender against God.
Bible says he trembles at the Name of the Lord. Satan knows his end and
knows he cannot change it even though he is given a period to change, due
to the hardness of his heart. His only purpose now is to try to stop us
from receiving that which he, his partner (Beast) and his angels lost in
Heaven. We also foolishly use the name ‘Lucifer’ to him not knowing the
term means ‘light bearer’ and is a term for the Cherubs of which he and his
partner were one. It was from the term John of Revelation came to
understand that it was the Cherubs who lead the worship (not singing) of
the Lord in Heaven.

There is a difference between the term Anti-Christ and the term spirit of
Anti-Christ.

Anti-Christ is the term used for Satan (Dragon and Beast - the word is
plural) and also to the human (Son of Prediction) who is their main
instrument in their plans of destruction.

The spirit of Anti-Christ is the spirit which goes against the purpose of
Christ which is bringing the lost sheep back into the sheep fold. Those who
carry the spirit of Anti-Christ are termed as wolves. The spirit of
Anti-Christ existed from the time God revealed His plans of using man to
inherit the Kingdom of God in place which the fallen lost. In today’s
message Paul acknowledge the existence of that spirit during his time.

Today’s message tells us the Wicked - the Lawless ones will be destroyed by
word of the mouth of Christ and His light when He comes again. There is no
battle, no fighting, nothing as to what people depict. They do this because
they neither know God, His Christ nor Satan.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are God and You are Truth. It is only when we know the Truth we
know You. We are considered dwelling in darkness when the truth is far from
us, as we know more and more of the truth we are called children of light.
Lord we pray our eyes our opened to the Truth and we are not misled to
vanity...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
2 Thessalonians 2:3-12
3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except
there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son
of perdition;
4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that
is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing
himself that he is God.
5 Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?
6 And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time.
7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth
will let, until he be taken out of the way.
8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with
the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his
coming:
9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and
signs and lying wonders,
10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish;
because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they
should believe a lie:
12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had
pleasure in unrighteousness.

1 John 2:18 Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard
that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we
know that it is the last time.

Working inside out

2 Corinthians 10: 2,3 But I beseech you, that I may not be bold when I am
present with that confidence, wherewith I think to be bold against some,
which think of us as if we walked according to the flesh. For though we
walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:

We see in today’s message Paul justifying his harsh correction in letter
but not in person. Paul is saying when he was there in person with them he
refrained from coming very harsh on some people whom he later took up
strongly in his letters without naming them. Paul says he was not battling
against the flesh but the spirit therefore did not correct strongly in
person.

This incident has two parts to it; one is the problem of Paul not being a
good orator. Paul lacked the ability to speak as well as he communicated
through his letters. The Corinthians openly bought out this weakness of
Paul and this angered Paul, they would say Paul was weak in words but
strong in letter. This disturbed Paul not only spiritually but physically
affected his health. We see from his 1st letter to this church to his 2nd
letter (a period of about 1 year – 55AD and 56AD) Paul overcomes this thorn
and comes to term that the grace of God given to him was sufficient for
him. He had prayed strongly thrice to the Lord to help him overcome this
weakness but the Lord said his grace was sufficient for him. The Lord told
him most of the areas the grace of God helped him overcome easily but one
area the Lord told He wanted Paul to overcome it and the grace that was
given to Paul was sufficient.

The second aspect of this incident was Paul was not keen exercising his
power and authority as head of the Church (he along with 4 others over saw
the administration of all churches). Paul saw it more appropriate to
encourage them in person but correct them through his letters because it
was more a spiritual problem then a natural problem.

The Lord is telling us we do not need to correct people bluntly at time but
discern the method we use to correct them. We need to understand we are
dealing more with the inside man more than the person we see externally. We
need to be more interested in seeing a change than doing something to
justify ourselves and wash our hands in public.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Righteous God yet You are Merciful God. Your mercy Lord keeps
us alive and instead of condemning us and punishing us for our wrong You
gave us your Spirit to work in us and transform us inside out. We pray
Lord, we discern ourselves and others, we understand the root of the
problem and work on the root...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
1 Corinthians 2:1,4
1 And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech
or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God.
4 And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s
wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:

2 Corinthians 10:9-10
9 That I may not seem as if I would terrify you by letters.
10 For his letters, say they, are weighty and powerful; but his bodily
presence is weak, and his speech contemptible.

2 Corinthians 11:6 But though I be rude in speech, yet not in knowledge;
but we have been throughly made manifest among you in all things.

2 Corinthians 7:8-10
8 For though I made you sorry with a letter, I do not repent, though I did
repent: for I perceive that the same epistle hath made you sorry, though it
were but for a season.
9 Now I rejoice, not that ye were made sorry, but that ye sorrowed to
repentance: for ye were made sorry after a godly manner, that ye might
receive damage by us in nothing.
10 For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of:
but the sorrow of the world worketh death.

Using the enemy

Acts 23: 11,12 And the night following the Lord stood by him, and said, Be
of good cheer, Paul: for as thou hast testified of me in Jerusalem, so must
thou bear witness also at Rome. And when it was day, certain of the Jews
banded together, and bound themselves under a curse, saying that they would
neither eat nor drink till they had killed Paul.

Yesterday in our Church cell-group we were discussing about storms in the
sea. In my cell group most are from the armed forces, with some at high
positions in the Navy and Army. A brother was sharing at sea how they deal
with storms, they do not anchor nor put their sails up nor fight the waves,
in fact they perch themselves on top of the waves, flow with the waves and
this takes them out of the storm.

In today’s message we see the Lord tells Paul to be ready to witness in
Rome. Paul always desired to go to Rome and preach to the Roman rulers, it
was part of the mission the Lord had given him. So without success Paul was
waiting on the Lord to make a way for him. And what is more interesting to
read, immediately after the Lord tells Paul be ready to go we read the very
next morning the Jews harden their hearts against Paul and take an oath
they will neither eat or drink until they kill Paul. It was this hardening
of their hearts and their attempt to kill Paul that made a way for Paul to
go to Rome that too under the protection of Roman soldiers.

It is true Paul did not have a smooth ride to Rome and had to face many
natural and spiritual storms, but at the end he did not only succeed but
got two years to freely minister in Rome, that too under protection of
Roman soldiers and this triggered the biggest spread of Christianity around
the world. Even though the plans of Paul happened after many years yet the
foundation of Christianity in Rome was put by Paul.

Today the Lord is telling us even if we see the plans of the enemy
succeeding or moving forward, or problems getting a upper hand over us, let
us not we disheartened let us remember the Lord is Lord over the storms and
no storm is great for Him not to silent or set to peace. Let us always
acknowledge Him as Lord and God Almighty.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are God and You are Almighty God. There is no storm that You
cannot silence or set to peace, but You Lord allow them to come in our
lives so that You can take us to greater heights and greater successes...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Mark 4:36-40
36 And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was
in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships.
37 And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the
ship, so that it was now full.
38 And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they
awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?
39 And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be
still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.
40 And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no
faith?

Matthew 13:20-21
20 But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that
heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it;
21 Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when
tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is
offended.

Acts 28:30-31
30 And Paul dwelt two whole years in his own hired house, and received all
that came in unto him,
31 Preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern
the Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence, no man forbidding him.

Mercy brings Longsuffering

1 Timothy 1:16 Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first
Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them
which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.

There goes a saying ‘if there is no fuel there can be no fire’, for every
fire there is a need for fuel to keep it burning and as long as the fuel
lasts so also will the fire last. Fire fighters first try to identify the
source of fuel of a fire and try to cut off the source to the fire,
especially if the fire is large.

Today’s message we see Paul saying that people could see longsuffering in
him only because he received mercy from the Lord Jesus Christ. Paul relates
mercy as the fuel to longsuffering.

Longsuffering is one of the Fruits of the Holy Spirit. The Greek used for
longsuffering is ‘makrothumia’ which is also translated as patience, but
there is a difference between patience and longsuffering. Longsuffering is
the ability to bear and patience is more than just about bearing for a long
time. We are not called to bear injustice or pain forever; it is the hope
and knowledge of what the Word of God tells us that lets us bear till that
which is written or said comes true. So patience requires faith,
gentleness, peace, temperance [self-control], love, joy, goodness
[kindness] along with longsuffering. In simple words patience is not a
Fruit but Fruit-Salad and the Greek word used for patience is ‘hupomone’
which come from the root word ‘to remian’.

Another point to note is Grace is simply all the mercy we need to get the
job done. Before Christ came as man, people did receive mercy of the Lord
but very few received grace. It was only through Christ truth and grace was
available to all who had faith. Without faith there is no grace, and to
remain in grace we need to remain in faith. So faith is the fuel for grace.

People will see Christ in us only if we experience Christ ourselves. If we
do not experience His mercy than they will not see the Fruit of
longsuffering in us, and if we do not have faith then we will not receive
all the mercy we need. So the root thing that holds us in Christ is our
faith.

There are two types of faiths, one that is a Gift that comes from God and
the other a Fruit of the Holy Spirit. It is by the Gift we come to know
Christ and it is by the Fruit we remain and grow in Him. Also only when
faith is tested does it grow; so longsuffering helps us grow in faith and
faith helps us grow in longsuffering via the grace we receive and thus help
us grow patience [all other Fruits].

In short today’s message says if we are in-Christ we will see a spiritual
growth and people we see this. If we are not spiritually growing that there
is a problem with our faith, there is a problem with us being in grace and
a problem with is having the Fruits of the Holy Spirit. Word of God says if
a tree does not have Fruit it will be cut and thrown in the fire, something
which in yesterday’s message the Lord was telling us.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Almighty God and the Upper Heavens is your Throne and the
Lower Heavens your footstool. There is no place You are not there but your
glory shines more where your Kingdom [rein] is come in power. Lord we pray
your glory shine in is as we surrender more and more to You. Help is keep
our faith and help us grow in faith so that we keep receive grace in all
areas of our lives and thus grow in all the Fruits of the Holy Spirit...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
John 1:17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by
Jesus Christ.

Colossians 1:6 Which is come unto you, as it is in all the world; and
bringeth forth fruit, as it doth also in you, since the day ye heard of it,
and knew the grace of God in truth:

Matthew 3:10 And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees:
therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and
cast into the fire.

Importance of His Spirit

1 Corinthians 12:8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to
another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;

We do quote the scripture Zechariah 4:6 many a times where the Lord says it
is not by His might (ability) or by His power (strength) but by His Spirit
that He succeeds in the task He has taken. This scripture is a very key
scripture in the Bible for our understanding of how and why God works the
way He works. We know the Lord is able to do all things yet He does not
solve and finish everything in a snap of a finger. He does things in a
process not according to His ability but for the goodness of us, so that we
are elevated in spirit and we gain in His Kingdom.

Our Churches are at the state we are all because we do not know the
importance of His Spirit. We focus our eyes on the man Jesus who is the Way
but do not focus on His Spirit the Helper who helps us on the Way. That is
why most of us are simply standing at the doorway of the Way - perpetual
spiritual infants.

Today’s scripture and those in the context tell us our Callings, our
Giftings and knowledge of the Truth all come from the Holy Spirit. When we
say the Word ‘Christ’ it means the man Jesus and His Spirit, so when we say
Christ is the Rock on which the Church (mission - since the word Ekklesia
means going out for a purpose) is built, we need to acknowledge the
importance of not only Jesus but more of His Spirit since He Himself
stepped aside so that His Spirit takes over. Jesus spoke of the mission but
it is His Spirit who makes us understand it and execute it.

If we want to be Born-Again (born spiritually / from above) and enter His
Kingdom then we need to focus more on His Spirit.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Almighty and nothing is impossible to You. Yet You Lord are
slow to anger and long-suffering so that what You have planned through your
Spirit is completed. Lord let us always remember the importance of your
Spirit and know He works in us and through us to make us into a new
Creature so that we inherit your Kingdom as Sons...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Zechariah 4:6 Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word
of the LORD unto Zerubbabel [sown in Babylon / corruption], saying, Not by
might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.

John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father
will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things
to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

John 15:26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from
the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he
shall testify of me:

John 16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that
I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but
if I depart, I will send him unto you.

John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Galatians 4:6 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of
his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.

Being united is very important

1 Peter 3:8 Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of
another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous:

It so happens that today I am to take games with the children of the Sunday
School in our Church and what I selected was on faith and the topic which
we received today. Before sitting to write today’s message I was thinking,
should I spend time on that or sit to write my daily message and the Lord
did both together!

We all know salvation is a personal choice and no person can be saved
because of being related by blood or spiritually to anyone. We misinterpret
Acts 16:31, Paul spoke to the jailer with the knowledge that he had
repented and that he wanted to take Paul to his house to share the Word
with his household. Paul was sure once he shared the message of salvation
they would accept the Lord, be baptized and be saved.

Although salvation is personal yet there is a unity aspect to our
salvation. We forget the fact we all enter Heaven as the Bride of the Lord,
as one body. It is for this very reason God has commissioned the mission
for us to reach out to the lost, from one generation to another.

In Isaiah 40:26 it is written the one who created the Heavens is mighty in
power and He knows us by our names (not earthly names) and He does not fail
in saving each and every one who He has called by name (those whose names
are written in the Book of Life). What is interesting to acknowledge a
large portion of the later part of not failing to save all He does through
us!

His Spirit works in us not only to save us but also through us to save
others. Let us therefore remember a Christian who does not reach out to the
lost is not a Christian and is deceiving himself / herself.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are God and Creator of all. You are Almighty and nothing is
impossible to You, yet You Lord have assigned the task to us of reaching
out to the lost. You Lord want us to be one like You are one so that we can
be one with You...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Acts 2:21 And it shall be, that whosoever shall call on the name of the
Lord shall be saved.

Mark 16:15-16
15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel
to every creature.
16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth
not shall be damned.

Matthew 28:19 Go ye therefore, and make disciples of all the nations,
baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy
Spirit:

Acts 16:28-33
28 But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, Do thyself no harm: for we
are all here.
29 And he called for lights and sprang in, and, trembling for fear, fell
down before Paul and Silas,
30 and brought them out and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?
31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus, and thou shalt be saved, thou
and thy house.
32 And they spake the word of the Lord unto him, with all that were in his
house.
33 And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes;
and was baptized, he and all his, immediately.

Isaiah 40:26 Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who hath created these
things, that bringeth out their host by number: he calleth them all by
names by the greatness of his might, for that he is strong in power; not
one faileth.

Busybodies doing no work

2 Thessalonians 3: 11,12 For we hear that there are some which walk among
you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies. Now them that are
such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness
they work, and eat their own bread.

Previously when I had just come out of the Catholic Church, I would
confront the Catholic Priests who would boast of the many years they have
been ‘serving the Lord’, I would ask them one question which they would
fail to answer. I would ask them if they could name just 5 persons who they
have bought to the knowledge of God and His Christ, people who did not know
Christ and thought them have accepted Christ.

After being part of the Believer Church for almost 12-13 years and
interacting with Pastors, Evangelists, Teachers, Prophets and Apostles I
see the same situation but at another level. We are adding people to
Churches and making them come to the knowledge of Christ even if it is not
at the level expected. But the sad part is Christ did not say ‘make people
to accept me and be part of Church programs’, to just ‘behold me’; He said
MAKE DISCIPLES. That means each and every one whom we bring to the
knowledge of Christ should be people who carry the burden of Christ, doing
the Will of the Father - saving the lost.

Is the ‘Lord’ who works through them unable to bring even one person per
year to the true knowledge of Him? If a person doing the Lord’s ministry
cannot bring even 1 person per year to Christ is like a cook working in a
kitchen for months and could not prepare even 1 dish!

If we look at the current state of affairs, our productivity level is at
0.5% that means out of 200 people we are making max 1 disciple. We have
become busy bodies entertaining people in the name of Bible study,
preaching, praying, fellowship, worship etc...

It is time we take a step back and look at the people we build in Christ,
if they have become disciples or just believers. Can we be like the fig
tree which changed the color of its leaves showing it has fruit but had
none? We all know what Jesus did to that tree. It is time we stop fooling
ourselves and others, we cannot go to Heaven saying how busy we were doing
Christian programs; God is going to ask us to account of the souls we have
successfully bought to Him.

Today’s message talks to specially those who eat of the Lord’s basket
meaning take from the tithes to support themselves but do not any
productive work for the Lord’s Kingdom. Imagine the wrath they will face on
Judgment Day when they need to give an account to the Father.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord, You are All Knowing and Omnipresent God. You know the hearts and
minds of people, their thoughts and intentions. You Lord on Judgment Day
will open the books and take account of what we did in your Name. We pray
Lord we stop deceiving ourselves, people and try to deceive You...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Matthew 18:14 Even so it is not the will of your Father who is in heaven,
that one of these little ones should perish.

John 6:40 For this is the will of my Father, that every one that beholdeth

Matthew 21:18-20
18 Now in the morning as he returned to the city, he hungered.
19 And seeing a fig tree by the way side, he came to it, and found nothing
thereon, but leaves only; and he saith unto it, Let there be no fruit from
thee henceforward for ever. And immediately the fig tree withered away.
20 And when the disciples saw it, they marvelled, saying, How did the fig
tree immediately wither away?

Old Covenant and New Covenant

Hebrews 8:13 In that he saith, A new [covenant], he hath made the first
old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.

We all are aware the Bible is a library of 66 books written by more than 40
persons. People think the Catholic Church put together the Bible, therefore
Catholics think the Church (Pope) has the right to edit, delete or add to
the Bible.

The Old Testament we have is what the Jews used (use) and existed in the
times of Jesus (as man on earth) and are referred to in the NT. What the
Catholics added (Apocrypha) was done so after 1400 years when the
traditions / beliefs of the Catholics were questioned during the
Reformation Movement and they could not answer them from the 66 books. The
books they added were considered reference books by most Church fathers
(early theologians) but due to their textual unreliability and errors they
were never considered Canon. The Catholic Church failed in convincing
Reformation Movement champions on Canonization of these books that is why
we have different Bibles, but one thing that they did succeed in doing is
breaking the Bible (Word of God) into two sections that is the Old
Testament and New Testament, thereby convincing people they are different
(words of God) so most do not study the OT thoroughly.

Bible is broadly divided into mainly 5 sections Pentateuch (Books of
Moses), Psalms, books of Prophets, Gospels and Epistles. In the early years
even the book of Psalms were divided into 5 books with the Psalms arranged
according to the books of Moses and were referred by them. It is for this
reason the Psalms are not arranged chronically.

If we read most of Jesus’ teachings were references to OT scriptures and He
said He did not come to change anything, yet we find great changes in the
OT and NT, today’s message makes us understand this.

Today’s message says as we grow we change but then we are not a different
person, yet are. What happens is as we grow there is an improvement in us
and thus show differences although being the same person.

God made only one covenant with man and this covenant started with Noah,
later on God added to this covenant via Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, David, Moses
and finally perfecting it with Jesus. Nowhere did God remove or change any
promise He had given; He only added to it. What He added most importantly
through the Son of Man - Jesus Christ is grace and truth. This last
addition made a great difference and changed the whole situation for
mankind.

Let us get it into us there is only ONE - WORD OF GOD and not two - words
of God. Let us also get it into us there is only one Covenant between God
and Man and not many covenants. God is not man to err or not be aware of
what man would do in the future. He is an All-knowing and Almighty God, who
is able to do anything and everything.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Almighty and Omnipresent God. Nothing is hidden from You and
nothing is impossible for You. You allow man to err for You know in the end
You will perfect him, but You never err for You are Holy and perfect. We
pray Lord the plans of the enemy to corrupt and confuse your Word in your
people fail and the truth be revealed more and more...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Luke 1:55 As he spake to our fathers, to Abraham, and to his seed for ever..

Luke 1:72 To perform the mercy promised to our fathers, and to remember
his holy covenant;

Luke 24:44 And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto
you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which
were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms,
concerning me.

1 Peter 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of
incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

Mark 7:13 Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition,
which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye.

Matthew 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets:
I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

John 1:17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by
Jesus Christ.

sanctified.

Spiritual sicknesses can completely destroy us

James 5:15 And the prayer of faith shall save [keep safe and sound] the
sick [weary], and the Lord shall raise [lift] him up; and if he have
committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.

When Jesus gave authority to His disciples [that includes us], He gave them
authority in 3 areas

1) To heal the sick
2) To strengthen weakness
3) To drive away evil spirits (drive away, not bind or destroy)

Today’s message does not talk more on the first point but on the second
point. It is not focusing on healing the medically sick but the spiritual
sick.

All spiritual problems are not related to evil spirits many are related to
spiritual weakness. People err when they pray for deliverance over those
who are affected with spiritual weaknesses. It is when we discern the
problem we become more effective in our ministering.

Today’s message tells us if we have strong faith than we can pray over
those who have spiritual problems like addictions, loss of control senses,
depression, unproductivity etc.. The scripture says our faith will keep
them safe and the Lord will save them by raising them [they will receive
salvation].

We need to be aware medical sickness can harm our body and destroy it, but
our spiritual sickness will not only destroy our natural body but also
destroy our spiritual being by not letting us enter Heaven. In Churches we
always pray physical healings but rarely concentrate of spiritual healings.
We need to understand the seriousness of spiritual healings and focus on
them.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Almighty God and You are Spirit, your Kingdom is a spirit
world and not natural. Lord your Word says nothing corrupt can dwell your
Kingdom. Lord we pray we understand the importance of spiritual healings.
We pray we focus on our spiritual weakness and those of others. Make our
faith strong that we overcome them...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Luke 9:1 Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power
and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases.

Matthew 10:1 And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave
them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all
manner of sickness [diseases] and all manner of disease [weaknesses].

1 Corinthians 15:50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot
inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.

Suffering and Resurrection

Acts 26: 23 That Christ should suffer, [and] that he should be the first
that should rise from the dead, and should shew light unto the people, and
to the Gentiles.

The scripture we received today has a deep reality which people would not
like to see or acknowledge. Translations have added the word ‘and’ to it
and some also put the word ‘Jews’ in place of people thus changing the
meaning of the scripture. Scripture says Christ’s suffering and
resurrection is correlated. He was the first to show this as the path to
the people and to the Gentiles.

Let us get it into us we who are called Disciples of Christ, people who
follow Him also need to suffer. We do not suffer our sins but suffer the
world and suffer overcoming our sin nature. We suffer persecution that is
why Jesus always acknowledged persecution as a reality and said it will
come our way and thus instructed us as what we should do when it comes. We
also suffer our own weakness and guilt which keeps us in continual
repentance, without repentance we cannot be born-again (born in spirit/born
from above). This reality of suffering and resurrection is what today’s
scripture says is what Jesus showed to the people and to the Gentiles. The
Greek word used here as people is the word ‘laos’.

In Kone (Common/Biblical) Greek there are 4 words used for people

Ochlos - crowd - refers to common people /subjects of a kingdom, roots from
the word ignorance so at moreover specifies an ignorant people.

Demos - mass of assembled people. It roots from the word bondage so
specifies a factor that holds the people together. In English we use it for
demonstration - a gathering for a factor.

Ethnos - Gentiles - a crowd or large group of people, and since it roots
from the word ‘etho’ which means being accustomed to speaks of a group held
by a custom. In English we get the word Ethnic from this word. Biblically
it speaks of people of God who are misled by worldly customs. It was first
used for the sons of Noah a period after the floods when they seem to have
forgotten how the Lord saved them. It is a term for lost sheep.

Laos - people. It is moreover used for a tribe specifying a special lot and
not general public. In the Bible this word is typically used for chosen
people.

Today’s message speaks of Jesus being an example of suffering and
resurrection to His chosen people who are already in His flock and also to
the lost sheep that are not yet in the flock. Today’s message tells us
without suffering there is no resurrection unto eternal life. So if you
have become a Christian to enjoying the blessing of a good life, you are
deceived. Bible says the world hates God and hates Christ so as a Christian
you too will be hated and persecuted. Bible also says the ‘Old man’ within
us is our biggest enemy whom we have to battle and overcome and in the
battle we will suffer. So if you are become a Christian be ready to suffer.
This suffering is not suffering of penance for our sins but suffering while
battling darkness / spiritual powers with the light of Christ / truth.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Almighty God and your Throne is situated in the abodes of the
upper Heavens where no corruption can dwell. Lord You put us through this
fire so that we are refined like gold and are made your people. Without
fire there can be no purification and reformation. Lord we pray your people
are not deceived to believe a Christian life will be minus suffering. We
pray they see the light of this truth...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Matthew 5:10 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’
sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

John 15:20 Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not
greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute
you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.

1 Corinthians 4:11-14
11 Even unto this present hour we both hunger, and thirst, and are naked,
and are buffeted, and have no certain dwellingplace;
12 And labour, working with our own hands: being reviled, we bless; being
persecuted, we suffer it:
13 Being defamed, we intreat: we are made as the filth of the world, and
are the offscouring of all things unto this day.
14 I write not these things to shame you, but as my beloved sons I warn
you.

Zechariah 13:9 And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will
refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they
shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people:
and they shall say, The LORD is my God.

Is death an exit?

Acts 16: 28 But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, Do thyself no harm:
for we are all here.

There are sayings like ‘ignorance is bliss’ and ‘fools dare where Angels do
not’, these point to the fact that ignorance can cause a person to do
anything without fear. Even the other side of the coin is true ignorance
brings fear and understanding sets a person free.

Death is one coin where people out of ignorance do anything. We have
Muslims who think if they kill an infidel (non-Muslim) or bring a person
into accepting Allah and his prophet Mohammed, then the person will enter
Jannat. Their Jannat is unlike Biblical Paradise. Jannat is a garden of the
design of the one before the Taj Mahal, where each man (interesting earthly
women are not mentioned in Jannat but mentioned in hell) will get 72
virgins to serve their sexual desires continually while they are served
wine. With this understanding they look forward to death especially while
killing others.

Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism etc. have very confusing and contradicting
understanding of death. For them life or death is the same, and if they are
rich they can buy themselves a bargain on the other side. People and food
are clean or unclean but money or donations are not.

Once I was at a Hindu funeral where there was confrontation between two
Pundits over which direction the body was to be placed. One said pointing
north pointing towards Swarg (Heaven) and second south towards Narg (Hell)
so that via Narg he enters Swrag through its back door. I was wondering if
they were burning the body or launching a rocket!

Catholics on the other hand fear death since they have created a place
called Purgatory where a believing person (not a saint) goes to suffer
un-forgiven sins and then be promoted to Heaven. This promotion can also be
done by relatives and well-wishers inform of prayers, Masses, donations to
Church or the poor, making offertories (burning candles, offering flowers)
etc...

Most Believers too on the other hand are ignorant of conditions after
death; most believe being saved from Hell means entry to Heaven. They read
scriptures which state we all will stand before the Throne of Judgment one
Judgment Day when Christ comes again yet believe people go to Heaven
immediately on their death. I have come across a well-known Pastor of a
main stream church silently promoting death (suicide) to a very sick
Believer. If just by believing we could get to enter Heaven, then Matthew
7:21-23 would be an error.

We see stickers ‘DO NOT GET CAUGHT DEAD WITHOUT JESUS’ these will have to
be edited to ‘DO NOT GET CAUGHT DEAD WITHOUT JESUS AND THE HOLY SPIRIT’.
Jesus said one cannot enter Heaven / Kingdom of God without being baptized
in water (repentance) and cloud (Holy Spirit). He said only the truth will
set us free and also said it is the Holy Spirit who reveals the truth to
us.

Let us study and understand the levels of Heavens (including our creation)
as given in the Bible and not believe myths. Let not our ignorance lead us
to vanity.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Holy God. You are Spirit and Heaven is a Spirit place. The
things of Heaven are unlike natural places like on earth. Lord we pray You
open the eyes of your people to understand Heaven, Hell and Grave so that
they are well prepared for their exit from this creation...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Matthew 7:21-23
21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the
kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in
heaven.
22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in
thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many
wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye
that work iniquity.

1 Corinthians 15: 50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot
inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.

John 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be
born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

Mark 10:23 And Jesus looked round about, and saith unto his disciples, How
hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!

Acts 14:22 Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to
continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into
the kingdom of God.

Philippians 2:12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as
in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own
salvation with fear and trembling.

Romans 14:10 But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at
nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of
Christ.

John 5:26-29
26 For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to
have life in himself;
27 And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is
the Son of man.
28 Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are
in the graves shall hear his voice,
29 And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection
of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.

Seeking Righteousness

Romans 9:30 What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, which followed not
after righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness
which is of faith.

Yesterday as part of the Gideons’ ministry I was at a Gideons’ stall at a
secular bookstall where we were distributing free NT in various languages.
We had very good response many people willingly took a copy and thanked us
for giving them one. There were some who questioned our intention for
giving one but then we needed to answer them in a gentle way. Like there
was a gentleman who said he believed in humanity and did not believe in God
and Satan, he believed being good and sufficient. When I cross-questioned
him about his definition of goodness, he started giving me names of people
as examples and then I pointed out to him many of the people he named were
people who were influenced by the Bible, so he willingly took a copy to
read it.

There are Fruits of the Holy Spirit which we may have but yet not know them
i.e. love. The best way to understand the difference between our love and
perfect love is by understanding the difference between a raw mango and a
ripe mango, or any other fruit. So the 9 Fruits mentioned in Galatians are
Fruits which we may have in a raw state and they need to ripen for us to
grow spiritually. But then the 3 Fruits mentioned in Ephesians are those
which man does not have even in the raw state - Truth, Righteousness and
Holiness.

Truth and Righteousness are Fruits which man had before he sinned and lost
them in the Garden of Eden (Paradise). By eating the fruit of doubt man
started doing foolish things like hiding from God, because he lost
Righteousness man saw his nakedness and tried to cover it with leaves.
Since man became a corrupt being he was not allowed access to Paradise.

Without Righteousness and Truth man cannot enter Heaven (Paradise) again,
so we need restoration of these Fruits. We cannot have the Fruit of
Righteousness if we do not have the Fruit of Truth. God knowing that
humbled Himself and became a man - Jesus Christ. Christ paid for our sins
by His death on the cross so that He could make peace between God and man
and by this peace man could receive His Spirit - the Spirit of Truth. It is
the Spirit of Truth (Holy Spirit) who leads us to know the truth and thus
makes us eligible to receive the Fruit of Righteousness (from the Son).

Today’s message questions our righteousness. Like I mentioned before the
word Gentile is a term used not for Heathens but those who are of the
Lord’s and are lost. These are God’s people lost in human customs and
beliefs. Today’s message questions us how can we have righteousness if we
do not know the truth. If we need to have righteousness we need to first
seek truth and this is only achievable through our relationship with the
Holy Spirit - the Spirit of Truth.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Holy, Righteous and Truth. Near You is perfectness and any
corrupt being cannot dwell near You. To save us from destruction You moved
us away from You so as to restore us and bring us back closer to You. Lord
we pray understand the things that keep us far from You and seek them above
all others...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Galatians 5:22-23
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering,
gentleness, goodness, faith,
23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

Ephesians 5:9 (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and
righteousness and truth;)

James 3:18 And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that
make peace.

John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld
his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace
and truth.

John 1:17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by
Jesus Christ.

1 Corinthians 15:52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last
trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised
incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

Drawn, enticed and tempted unto sin and death

James 1:14,15 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own
lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin:
and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

The Greek word translated as tempting is the word ‘peira’ which also means
test or trial. This word comes from the root word ‘peran’ which means
beyond or other side.

Being tempted and tested means to stretch the limited of the person beyond
the comfortable control zone of that person. It is like a rubber band which
is stretched and not in its natural form. The difference between tempting
and testing is to do with the purpose or the hand that does this
stretching.

Although James used the same word for testing and tempting yet says God
does tempt, he goes on to say God does not test/tempt unto evil. God does
test us from time to time and most of the time is when He wants to promote
us spiritually. Spiritual promotion without testing is very rare.

We normally blame Satan for tempting us but that too not always true.
Today’s message does not say Satan tempts us but literally says we put
ourselves into that position where we are tempted by Satan or by evil. It
says led by our desires of lust / craving we get ourselves to be enticed by
evil or by Satan. If we control our craving, there is no chance of us being
enticed. Even when we are enticed we not considered as sinned unless we
conceive to our craving.

Jesus was weakened in the natural body and tempted by Satan when He was led
into the wilderness by the Holy Spirit to fast for 40days. If He had not
fasted (without food and water) for the 40days then Satan would not have
dared to tempt Him. Though Jesus was tempted yet He is not considered a
sinner because He did not conceive to the temptation. Jesus fought the
temptation with scriptures / truth. The Holy Spirit led Jesus into the
wilderness to be tempted so that by His overcoming temptation we may learn
how to do it ourselves.

If we take the case of David and Bathsheba who was the former wife of Uriah
(2 Samuel 11:2-4, 12-17), we see early morning David goes on to the roof of
his dwelling place and chances to see Bathsheba washing herself. The
scripture says David watched her washing; the rendering of the word states
the watching over a period of time. It was the craving of his desire that
caused David to continue watching Bathsheba washing herself and this
craving led him to be enticed and conceal to this enticement. Here there
was no Satan testing but was the flesh of David that led him to do evil.
Later we read how he murdered Uriah to further his craving.

We know sin corrupts us and causes us to be separated from God. God is the
source of life; near to God is eternal life, so far for Him means death.
This death we bring upon us only because we do not control our desires. All
desires are not bad but the purpose of them is of prime importance. The
simple principle is to keep all desires below limits (be sober). Going
beyond the limit should be only when the desire edifies / builds the
spirit; anything other than that is like putting ourselves into being
enticed / tempted. Paul says flee from all kinds of temptations; in other
word do not entertain desires which lead us to be tempted.

[Prayer Starter]
Father God, You are a Holy God for You have separated yourself from evil
from eternity. Lord we pray we understand the importance of holiness and
why we should separate ourselves from evil. Lord we pray we learn to
control our desires and not play with them, so that we may not land
ourselves to be tempted and unto sin. Lord, help us be sober in our natural
desires and only encourage the desires that build us in your Kingdom.

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Matthew 4:1 Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be
tempted of the devil.

James 1:13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God
cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:

2 Samuel 11:2-4, 12-17

2 Timothy 2:22 Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith,
charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

1 Corinthians 6:18 Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without
the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.

1 Corinthians 10:14 Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry.

All have a purpose and all will glorify Him

Romans 9:17 For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same
purpose have I raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee, and that
my name might be declared throughout all the earth.

What is the purpose of life, why has God created us, why there is evil in
this world, are some of the questions which will never get answered unless
we look it up the Bible which is God’s Word. So when someone asks such
questions the answer to be given is ‘ask God’, and when they say ‘how’,
tell them ‘He has already answered, find it in His Word which is the Bible’.

Today’s message tells us God created Pharaoh and Pharaoh had a purpose to
harden his hearted (his heart was hard and God hardened it further), be
crushed by the power of God and in this Pharaoh glorified God. We all know
Pharaoh was more a villain and not the hero of the story; so does God
create villains as villains? If that is so then characters like Satan,
Judas and Balaam also are made to look as innocent and God lands up being
blamed for both good and evil (Satan worshippers belief in this).

Religions like Buddhism or Chinese philosophies / religion like Taoism /
Confucianism and even Hinduism where God is not clearly defined, believe in
the existence of a balance of good and bad in the universe. Things get
disturbed when this balance is disturbed. By this they make bad to be also
good and good to be also bad.

In Apologetics we come across arguments of predestine creation where God
put people in the good and bad roles thus justifying evil and blaming God
for it. The Gospel of Judas which was written around 400AD (by an unknown
person) pictures Judas as being innocent and used by God to do the things
he did. It actually lands up projecting Jesus in a negative role.

One thing I learnt from my Bible study, the story is already written and
its milestones are set from the beginning and we move from milestone to
milestone. God does not put us in a role in this story but we take up the
role we play in this story. We are given the choice to choose the role. In
all this, God being God knows the role we will play and thus our result.

An example of this is the case of John the Baptist. When Elijah knew the
role of John the Baptist, he opted with God for the role and thus was taken
up without seeing death so as to come back as John the Baptist. Since
Elijah had a problem of being merciless we find John the Baptist lives a
life of repentance right from young age even though he (John the Baptist)
did no evil.

Let us understand we cannot blame God for the evil in us. But let us
remember even if we are evil or good we will still glorify God, as an
atheist or God lover we will glorify God. Thus it is up to us to decide at
the end if we want to be blessed by God eternally or just perish in
suffering and vanity.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are God and You alone are God. You are all knowing and nothing is
hidden from You. Although You created us from the beginning You have set us
in this story of the salvation of mankind to choose and receive as per our
hearts. We pray we seek goodness and thus eternal life with You...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Ephesians 3:9-11
9 And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which
from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all
things by Jesus Christ:
10 To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly
places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God,
11 According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our
Lord:

Matthew 24:21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since
the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

Matthew 19:8 He saith unto them, Moses because of the hardness of your
hearts suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was
not so.

2 Thessalonians 2:13 But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you,
brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen
you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the
truth:

Luke 9:55-56
54 And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, Lord, wilt
thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even
as Elias did?
55 But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of
spirit ye are of.
56 For the Son of man is not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save
them. And they went to another village.

The fearless and the fearful

Colossians 4:10 Aristarchus my fellowprisoner saluteth you, and Marcus
[Mark], sister’s son to Barnabas, (touching whom ye received commandments:
if he come unto you, receive him;)

Paul had varying types of people in his ministry, all were not the same.
Paul too had to deal with the tantrums of his fellow workers. In today’s
message we see Paul names 2 persons with opposite qualities yet both were
part of his ministry and both were dedicated to ministry works.

Aristarchus was from Thessalonica and was a fearless person who showed his
qualities in Acts 19:29-31.

In the case of Mark whose real name was John and was nephew of Barnabas,
was the reason of the fight between Paul and Barnabas. We see both Paul and
Barnabas were doing excellent together but the decision of Barnabas to take
Mark along with them caused a great rift between Paul and Barnabas so much
so that they split partnering with each other. Paul was so very serious
about this incident that he had written to the churches to not entertain
Mark and in today’s message we see Paul reverting this instruction.

If we understand this incident, it had to do with Mark being assigned to
write the Gospel by the Apostles and Mark did not complete the Gospel with
witnessing the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Mark stopped at the body of
Jesus missing from the tomb.

Christianity fails and ceases to exist if the resurrection of Christ is
taken away, Paul understood this matter and thus was in no way to
compromise on this. Mark 16:9-20 was added later to the Gospel of Mark and
was written by someone assigned by Paul or the Apostles (maybe also be Mark
himself). We have some manuscripts without the verses and some with them.

Gospel writers Matthew, Mark, Luke were like historians (Teachers - there
are 2 types historical and spiritual) who documented what they investigated
and recorded them from witnesses (Gospel of John is more an autobiography
of Jesus). The three writers themselves were not necessary witnesses to any
or all the events. If we see all 3 Gospels were not written together for
they originate from different areas, from different time periods and not
using all the same witnesses yet they do not contradict each other.

Mark feared to document the resurrection of Christ which gave birth and
life to Christianity unlike Aristarchus who was a fearless character yet
they were both part of Paul’s ministry (this letter would have probably
been written after the amendments to the Gospel of Mark were done).

Today’s message tells us we will work with different kinds of people in the
Lord’s ministry. Some will be totally sold out for God’s kingdom and some
will come with intentions only to be blessed in this natural world. We will
need to accommodate them all, but like Paul we need to not compromise in
the purpose of our work in the Lord. We need to send out the message of no
compromise in the prime areas.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Holy God. You Lord have set all things with purpose and
purpose is the prime importance to You. Lord let us understand the purpose
of the things we do and discern them. When we work with others let our
purpose be above ourselves...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Acts 19:29-31
29 And the whole city was filled with confusion: and having caught Gaius
and Aristarchus, men of Macedonia, Paul’s companions in travel, they rushed
with one accord into the theatre.
30 And when Paul would have entered in unto the people, the disciples
suffered him not.
31 And certain of the chief of Asia, which were his friends, sent unto
him, desiring him that he would not adventure himself into the theatre.

Acts 20:4 And there accompanied him into Asia Sopater of Berea; and of the
Thessalonians, Aristarchus and Secundus; and Gaius of Derbe, and Timotheus;
and of Asia, Tychicus and Trophimus.

Acts 27:2 And entering into a ship of Adramyttium, we launched, meaning to
sail by the coasts of Asia; one Aristarchus, a Macedonian of Thessalonica,
being with us.

Acts 12:12 And when he had considered the thing, he came to the house of
Mary the mother of John, whose surname was Mark; where many were gathered
together praying.

Acts 15:39 And the contention was so sharp between them, that they
departed asunder one from the other: and so Barnabas took Mark, and sailed
unto Cyprus;

2 Timothy 4:11 Only Luke is with me. Take Mark, and bring him with thee:
for he is profitable to me for the ministry.

Philemon 1:24 Marcus, Aristarchus, Demas, Lucas, my fellowlabourers.

Transformation

Acts 9: 21 But all that heard him were amazed, and said; Is not this he
that destroyed them which called on this name in Jerusalem, and came hither
for that intent, that he might bring them bound unto the chief priests?

Today’s message talks of how the people were amazed at the transformation
that took place in Paul [his Roman name] Saul [his Jewish name].

We see transformation as a change in character which happens through change
in habits and one’s thinking. When we change our mindset and also change
our habits we notice a change in our lifestyle. This is change of the
inner-man [soul].

Human being we know as constitutes of body, inner-man and spirit. Body we
know has physical characteristics and functions which are time dependent
that means as time changes so does our bodies. The spirit of man is little
known of even though it is the core of the being. What we assume in the
natural world of body and spirit is the opposite in the spirit world. The
spirit is more real and the body just temporary like a smoke figure.

Transformation of a person which changes the inner-man affects the spirit
in a big way. When Jesus said we need to be born again [word used is born
from above] to enter Heaven, He did not mean only changes in the inner-man
but also a literal change in the spirit.

Our last few messages have been about entering Heaven and the eligibility
to do so. We need to understand the internal transformation God requires of
us to enter Heaven is a very serious requirement. Transforming our
inner-man leads to a transformation of our spirit and this is the real
resurrection promised to us. Jesus said in our resurrection we will be like
the Angels who are also called Sons of God and we also read Romans say
those led by the spirit will become Sons of God.

Unless we do not work on the inner-man and transform it there is no way we
will see a spirit transformation and thus eligibility to enter Heaven. Let
us take our change seriously.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Holy God and You are Spirit. Flesh and blood cannot inherit
your Kingdom. Lord we pray we overcome the flesh and the worldly nature and
walk in life of the spirit. We pray we understand the importance to
overcome corruption and bring a renewal of the inner-man so that as we rise
on your coming we will see the transformation which will enable us to enter
Heaven...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
John 3:3-7
3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee,
Except one be born anew, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he
enter a second time into his mother’s womb, and be born?
5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except one be born of
water and the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God!
6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the
Spirit is spirit.
7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born anew.

1 Corinthians 15:50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot
inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.

Mark 12:24-25
24 Jesus said unto them, Is it not for this cause that ye err, that ye
know not the scriptures, nor the power of God?
25 For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are
given in marriage; but are as angels in heaven.

Romans 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of
God.

Luke 20:36 for neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the
angels; and are sons of God, being sons of the resurrection.

Romans 8:19 For the earnest expectation of the creation waiteth for the
revealing of the sons of God.

Powers of magic

Acts 19:19, 20 Many of them also which used curious arts brought their
books together, and burned them before all men: and they counted the price
of them, and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver. So mightily grew the
word of God and prevailed.

Today’s message talks of evil spirits and how some Jewish exorcists taking
the name of Jesus did exorcism until in an incident the spirits question
their relationship with Jesus and then beat them up and caused fear in the
hearts of all in the town so much so that all gave up on magic.

At a Gideon Church presentation the Pastor of that Church shared his
testimony. He was born in a village in Gujarat, while he was very small,
wearing half pants and playing with his friends in a public ground a person
who does street magic approached them. He asked all of them to make a
circle around him and started his show. The other kids started to clap as
he was performing but the boy (Pastor) did not. The magician asked the
other if they could see him removing long array of kerchiefs and they
clapped saying YES but this boy did not. For every magic the other kids
clapped leaving for this boy so the magician asked the boy what he had on
him, since the magician expected he was carrying a charm on his body. The
boy said he had nothing on him and then on search they asked him what was
there in his pocket? He told him it was a book. The boy loved English and
someone had given him a Gideon New Testament, since it was in English he
was carrying it. The magician realized it had to do with Christianity thus
fled.

Magic always fascinates man and from childhood we are trained to marvel it.
Magic is classified into human tricks and into evil power. The skill of
doing human tricks is learnt and mastered. When it comes to evil powers
people think they possess power and do not realize they are just
instruments in some power using them.

Before I came to know the Lord I used to do astrology, palmistry etc. In
palmistry I was almost 85% accurate, so much so I would tell them of their
past for confirmation and not only of the future. As I went deeper into it
I realized I did not need to see their hands to tell them for it was not me
but something through me that was doing the job.

The first records of magic in the Bible is before Noah’s flood and Bible
records it as ‘Sons of God (fallen angels) saw the daughters of men that
they were fair; and they took them wives’. If we read the previous verse it
says ‘when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters
were born unto them’.

Daughters were born even to Adam and Eve and all those who before Noah’s
time. What this scripture speaks of is a period when females were far
greater in number than males and these females were dedicated to pagan
gods. The Hebrew word use literally speaks of total spiritual surrender
unto these gods. We also know these pagan gods are nothing but fronts
created by fallen angels who desire man to worship them. Fallen angels are
spirit beings; they did not have physical relationship with the fair women
like a man does with a woman, it was pure evil power that caused the women
to give birth to giant children. These giants were 14 to 16 feet tall and
King Og was the last of them. God did punish, not only with evil man but
also dealt with these fallen angels and we see hence forth they were not
referred to as ‘Sons of God’ but as ‘Devils’ (means hairy goats).

Now fallen angels (evil spirits) do not possess powers like other Angels do
but they can do things to some extend and that too only to those who
surrender or submit to them. Fear and ignorance are the prime reasons that
cause people to submit to these evil spirits.

In Christ we have true knowledge and authority that overcomes fear and thus
become a danger for these evil spirits. We do not possess power to kill
them and are not called to bind them or even send them to Hell. We are only
given powers to chase them, so when in Christ we rebuke them they fear and
flee.

Let us understand and be cautioned of the limitation and reasons these
powers work in man and through man. Let us not be victim of deceit and
vanity.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are God and Creator of all. You did create the Angels before You
created man and like You knew man would fall so also You knew who among the
Angels would fall. You created man to overcome the fallen angels and
inherit their loss in Heaven. Lord we pray we know the fallen angels fear
us when we truly know You. Help us to overcome their deceit by the
knowledge of the Truth...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Acts 19:13-20
13 Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon them to call
over them which had evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, We
adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preacheth.
14 And there were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jew, and chief of the
priests, which did so.
15 And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know;
but who are ye?
16 And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overcame
them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked
and wounded.
17 And this was known to all the Jews and Greeks also dwelling at Ephesus;
and fear fell on them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was magnified.
18 And many that believed came, and confessed, and shewed their deeds.
19 Many of them also which used curious arts brought their books together,
and burned them before all men: and they counted the price of them, and
found it fifty thousand pieces of silver.
20 So mightily grew the word of God and prevailed.

Genesis 6:1-7

Genesis 5:4 And the days of Adam after he had begotten Seth were eight
hundred years: and he begat sons and daughters:

Luke 9:1 Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power
and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases.

Colossians 2:18 Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary
humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he
hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind,

Righteousness of the Gentiles and that of faith

Romans 9:30 What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, which followed not
after righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness
which is of faith.

When we use the term ‘Gentile’ it does not refer only to those who are not
‘Christian’ it means those who are not baptized in the Lord Jesus Christ.
There are Gentiles amongst Christians, like those who think by being born
in a Christian family they are Christian. There are also those who think by
going to Church, taking the name of Jesus or rattling ‘Christian’ prayers
they are Christians and will go to Heaven.

Let us understand being good no one can go to Heaven. If one sins less, one
will suffer less in Hell for all souls that die were condemned to Hell.
Saying Hell is a place ruled by Satan or Devils it is like saying a prison
is a place ruled by prisoners. God is in control of everything and is
present everywhere. Heaven is where the glory of God is centered and Hell
is where His glory is least. In Hell no one punishes anyone; we punish
ourselves by suffering our own sins which are live never dying burning
coals. Price of every sin is paid for and forgiveness can be received only
if one does not go to Hell. In Hell one lives their spirit life which
unlike natural life is fixed for all and is very long (thousands of years).
Heaven on the other hand has the facility for one to truly enjoy life in
abundance and also live eternally via the Tree of Life.

In today’s message we see the ignorance of the Gentiles towards spiritual
worlds causes them to err, they think they can impose their righteousness
over God and His Kingdom. Let us not be like the Gentile but live life with
understanding and purpose.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Righteous, Holy and Truth. You are also a merciful God and
since corruption cannot dwell in your glory, You removed man’s access to
Heaven and put him in this creation so that he can be revived, made whole
and restored access to Heaven through your Son Jesus Christ. Those who are
not made whole will await their end in Hell in solitude suffering their
corruption. Lord we pray we see the spiritual eternal world more clearly
than we see the natural temporary world...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Genesis 3:21-24
21 Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins,
and clothed them.
22 And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know
good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the
tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:
23 Therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till
the ground from whence he was taken.
24 So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of
Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way
of the tree of life.

Revelation 2:7 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith
unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of
life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.

Revelation 22:14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may
have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the
city.

Be filled with the fruits of righteousness

Philippians 1:11 Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are
by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.

One of the most important factors which the Churches have got wrong is the
Fruits of the Holy Spirit. They consider only 9 since they are mentioned
together in Galatians but ignore the 3 which are mentioned also by Paul in
Ephesians. Paul purposely segregated the two lots for the nine are those we
can grow, but the 3 Truth, Righteousness and Holiness (Perfection/Complete
Goodness) mentioned in Ephesians cannot be earned or grown, they what we
get as gifts. Revelation speaks of the Tree with it 12 Fruits. It we study
deeper everything is about Fruits; that is why Jesus said His Father’s
business is Fruits.

Today’s message speaks of Fruits (plural), yet mentions only one Fruit
which is ‘Righteousness’!

We need to understand we cannot earn Righteousness that comes from God. The
word means to do that which is according to God and to do this we need to
know that which is according to God. Unless we do not know the Truth it is
impossible to be Righteous.

Bible says Truth and Grace came through Jesus Christ. It means even though
the Word (Manna) was given long before yet man did not understand it. Jesus
Christ gave us His Spirit who reveals the Truth to us and this can be seem
from the fact His own disciples did not fully understand what Jesus as man
taught them until they were baptized in His Spirit at Pentecost.

Yesterday a bro was questioning my message, this brother had spent 10 years
studying the Bible and went to various Bible colleges but his basics were
not in place. I do not blame him for he depends on man for his
understanding of the Word of God; he was always using the term ‘authors of
the Bible’ to men.

We may study the Word of God for many years and have great knowledge of it
yet may not have any understanding of it. Let us get it in us that the
Bible can only be understood when the Holy Spirit reveals it to us.

We call ourselves as ‘people of light’ that does not mean we know the Truth
completely. It means we know something of the Truth and are people who are
seeking more and more of it. Similarly with Righteousness and Holiness,
they too are not something we have; none of us is righteous or holy, yet we
are called as the ‘righteous of the Lord’ and ‘a holy people’ as the truth
in us grows more and more.

Man was driven out of Eden / Paradise, when sin corrupted him and he lost
the Fruits of Truth and Righteousness (that is why he felt nakedness). So
to enter Heaven we need to receive these Fruits.
It is only when we receive the complete Fruit of Truth (the Truth is whole
/ complete in us) will we be given the Fruit of Righteousness. Judgment Day
is nothing but the day Christ comes again to decide to whom He would give
His Righteousness so as to enable to enter Heaven. Bible says He checks who
has done the Will of the Father, because it is only when we do the Will of
the Father, the Holy Spirit reveals the Truth to us. Though it is a reward
yet is cannot be considered as earned, the Spirit of God only checks to
whom can the precious things of Heaven can be given to. So unless we are
not willing to give our lives for His Will we will not be found worthy to
receive the Truth and there on His Righteousness.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are God and You alone are Holy. Without Righteousness and Truth no
man can dwell in your glory. Like You protected Moses from your presence
with dark cloud so also You protect us until we receive the Fruit of Truth
and Righteousness. We pray Lord we understand our purpose in You and seek
the Truth to be able to receive your Righteousness...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
John 1:17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by
Jesus Christ.

John 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide
you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he
shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

Galatians 5:22,23
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering,
gentleness, goodness [kindness], faith,
23 Meekness, temperance [slow to anger]: against such there is no law.

Ephesians 5:9 (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and
righteousness and truth;)

Matthew 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter
into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which
is in heaven.

Matthew 10:39 He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth
his life for my sake shall find it.

Subjection of wife to Husband

1 Peter 3:6 Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters
ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement.

In religions we see the women are always considered second class citizens
and inferior beings. In some cases like Islam they are literally considered
the case of evil and cursed such that Hell is made for them. Even amongst
all this women is praised and even worshipped by these very religions. When
it comes to the Bible we see as similar dual approach as to what people
understand of it. I would not say the problem is in the Bible but the
problem is with people’s understanding.

If a woman is the manager of a bank and her husband also works in the same
bank but as a junior then would it be unchristian if her husband reports to
her? In the office he would need to since the position she holds is above
him.

In the Bible marriage is not to be mistaken with romance, mating and
reproduction which other species do. Marriage is role play which imitates
the relationship between God and man or Christ and His Church. Man plays
the role of God / Christ. We may find it indigestible of letting man be the
boss; but does God boss over us or love, care, protect and provide for us.
Man is not called to boss but to serve his wife and children as God serves
us.

Most marriages have a problem because they start on the wrong foot.
Marriage does not have an age but is a union of two mature people eligible
to play the role. If they are not mature then they should not be marriage.
This maturity is not just physically in body but also mentally and
spiritually. It is for this reason children are not considered eligible for
marriage and includes those who cannot support themselves.

Husband’s role over the wife is only spiritual and not in daily household
duties. Both husband and wife are considered equal and we see there is no
difference in the things they did. In the Bible women worked and took
important decision concerning household, property, finance and children
alike to what husbands did. We also see in some cases where the wife was
spiritually more mature or able, she is named before her husband like in
the case of Aquila and Priscilla. When naming them the husband was named
first but what it came to spiritual matters Priscilla was name before her
husband.

It is only when we understand marriage and its purpose we will understand
the relationship between husband and wife. Understanding marriage lets us
know why God made us and His relationship with us.

In Heaven we are going to get married to the Lord. If we do not understand
the shadow which we imitate on earth then are we going to be able to
understand our Heavenly marriage?

It can be literally said marriage is a form of worship for it brings us
closer to God.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are God and Father. You are Spirit and yet You chose man who is
made in the flesh to be part of You. You have called man to be renewed in
Spirit to be worthy of being unified with You. Lord we pray for all who are
marriage that they understand the union and know You through their union
with each other...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Acts 18: 26 And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when
Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them, and expounded unto
him the way of God more perfectly.

Acts 18:18 And Paul after this tarried there yet a good while, and then
took his leave of the brethren, and sailed thence into Syria, and with him
Priscilla and Aquila; having shorn his head in Cenchrea: for he had a vow.

Romans 16:3 Greet Priscilla and Aquila my helpers in Christ Jesus:

1 Corinthians 16:19 The churches of Asia salute you. Aquila and Priscilla
salute you much in the Lord, with the church that is in their house.

Done Before Time Began

2 Timothy 1:9 who saved us, and called us with a holy calling, not
according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which
was given us in Christ Jesus before times eternal,

Einstein by his theory of relativity (not yet proved) baffled thinkers by
the fact that time is a relative and not absolute. He called it ‘time
dilation’ in simple terms means time varies for two observers observing the
same event from two different positions (because light, matter and energy
can be bended). People use this theory to the Bible all because Bible says
a day of the Lord is a thousand years of man. They take this as an equation
and multiple every day by thousand! Peter was quoting Psalms 90:4 which had
nothing to do with giving formulae to measure time.

Time is a human factor or a factor which governs our creation. All things
in this world started with time. Time is measured as period between two
events and if that period is perfectly constant without change than that
period is used as a unit of measure of time. Previously man used to measure
time according to the movement of the moon, later adapted to the Sun and
now uses the oscillation of the atom as a measure of time (atomic clock).
Genesis 1 and 2 is an excellent example of understand time since each of
the 6 days (Hebrew word means period of time and does not refer to a 24
hour period) of creation varies according to the state of events.

Time started when God put things in motion that means time started when His
Word manifested forth into creation. Today’s verse says His plans for us
were fixed even before He set things to unfold in this natural world,
meaning even before time started He had already set our victory in Him.

Lots of people started to think in predetermined salvation due to the fact
that God set things even before He did things. This did made me think a lot
for this allows a person to sin, thinking even after that God will still
save. Then study of cases from the Bible and deeper understanding of things
showed it does not allow us this freedom. Even though we are part of the
Lord’s flock does not give us freedom to do whatever we like thinking the
end is written. Paul understood this therefore instructed the people to
work (works of faith) their salvation with fear and trembling.

Let us not take the grace of God for granted. Grace does not mean free
ticket. Israel which let Egypt did receive the grace of God and yet
perished; it was their next generation which saw the fruits of that grace.

Grace like faith is a seed which we need to surrender to and abide in to
receive the fruits of it. Let not our lack of understanding / our
ignorance, be the cause of our destruction.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Lord. You are Omnipotent and Omnipresent. There nothing that
is impossible to You and there is no place or time which You are not
present in. You Lord are beyond time for time is a factor of which You see
the start and end together. Lord we pray we understand things of your
Kingdom and live our lives with proper understanding. We pray we do not
take your grace for granted...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
2 Peter 3:8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day
is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

Psalms 90:4 For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it
is past, and as a watch in the night.

2 Peter 3:8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day
is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

Philippians 2:12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as
in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own
salvation with fear and trembling.

Romans 6:14-15
14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law,
but under grace.
15 What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under
grace? God forbid.

Sin and sickness

John 9: 24 Then again called they the man that was blind, and said unto
him, Give God the praise: we know that this man is a sinner.

Those who minister to the sick know many a times getting a person to repent
and ask for forgiveness causes healing in that person. We see this also in
the Bible with the paralyzed man lowered through the roof, Jesus forgave
him of his sins and this caused him to receive his healing. But we see
something contrary in today’s message which speaks of an incident which
literally takes a full chapter that too in the Gospel of John. Here we see
Jesus did not accuse the sickness to the sins committed by the young man or
his (immediate) parents. That did not mean the young man had never sinned
nor his parents were free of sin.

One of the most complex parts of Bible study is image study or Biblical
symbolism. God made man in the physical not as an art piece. The design of
man’s body has to do with spiritual image; this includes external or
physical structure and even the biological design (various organs and their
position) including the cellular level, right down to Chromosome and DNA
(which has design of the Word of God). Medically almost every cell of our
body has the design of the whole body. Even though each cell takes a
specific role yet it has the ability to take up any role. Like even from a
hair strand one can clone a person.

Man is not just a beautiful creation but a marvelous design to know God,
His Kingdom and His Word. One does not need to even open the Bible if it
was possible to understand this without the Bible. The book of Job is the
oldest book in the Bible. Job existed before Moses and yet we see Job by
the wisdom given to him could understand the things of God’s Kingdom by
just observing the creation and that’s why we see he speaks of symbolism a
lot.

God had created man and everything in this world according to design of
things hidden (things of the spiritual world) and man was made king (given
dominance) over them all. Initially there was no sickness and everything
was perfect. When man sinned, that image in him got corrupted and this
affected whole of creation. We see the effects were not visible immediately
but took time to manifest in the physical. Adam and Eve sinned and it was
only in Enos their grandson they saw the effects of sin. The name Enos
means ‘mortal’ for they saw death manifest, Adam on the other hand means
man and also means reddish symbolizing fullness of life.

Medically we know sickness happens on the molecular level when there is a
break in the normal design or process. This deformation may be temporary or
isolated to a region of the body or may even be permanently embedded in the
DNA hence passed from generation to generation. Today medics are trying to
eliminate deceases (especially rare diseases) by correcting the DNA. They
know this may not be used for immediate healing of a person but would help
the future generations.

Today’s message tells us our sickness may not be due to our own sins or
sins of our immediate parents, like it happened with the young man who was
born blind; but that does not mean God induced the corruption unjustly.

Corruption in us is carried for ages and can manifest any time. When we
claim the curse broken through Jesus Christ’s hanging on the Cross and
becoming our peace sacrifice, the curse gets broken in the area of our
belief. Hereditary diseases can be dealt with in this fashion.

We need to understand God did not make sickness it was man by bring forth
corruption brought forth sickness also, not only inside man but also in
whole of creation. Things may not be there because of our own doings but
may be because of the doings of generations before us. We can continue it
or correct it by faith and spiritual restoration.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are God and You are Holy. You are Prefect. You created man in your
image and he became a corrupt being by eating of the fruit of doubt. Lord
You gave us your Word and your Spirit to restore the corrupt and bring back
the image we were created in. Lord we pray we understand the power of your
Word and use the wisdom of your Spirit to know where to apply what promise
so as to bring forth restoration...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Genesis 5:3 And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in
his own likeness, after his image; and called his name Seth:

Genesis 4:26 And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called
his name Enos: then began men to call upon the name of the LORD.

Genesis 5:2 Male and female created he them; and blessed them, and called
their name Adam, in the day when they were created.

Colossians 1:16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven,
and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or
dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him,
and for him:

Galatians 3:13-14
13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse
for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
14 That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus
Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

Romans 8:19 For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the
manifestation of the sons of God.

Hearing and listening

2 Thessalonians 2:5 Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told
you these things?

Over the years I have learned people may come and praise after a teaching
or sermon and this may make one happy but never take this to heart. One can
really be happy when people listen and not hear your teaching / sermon. It
is only when people listen, that they remember.

One of the things that I do when I preach at Churches where I regularly go
- at least once in 6 months, is before I start I ask them about the topic I
preached on the last time. If they answer me it gives me satisfaction that
I did my job well the last time.

When I preach I do not overdo stage dramatic or voice modulations which are
things that entertain or encapsulate people’s attention but what is said
does not register into them.

In human psychology there exist a term known as ‘repetition compulsion’. It
is said to be a neurotic defense that causes a person to not accept
anything new but relate to the old. This old is revived in various
different ways. Repetition compulsion can be of traumatic and non-traumatic
origin. We see this throughout the Bible and that is why God warned man
again and again not to go back to his old ways.

Repetition compulsion is seen largely in religions; traditions and prayers
are prime areas. It is because of this people chant
mantras/slogans/prayers. In Catholicism we see Rosary as an example of how
strong these spiritual shackles are. Amongst Believers they have made
Fasting one such spiritual shackle, a spiritual medicine has become a
spiritual disease.

Even translations have erred and thus promoted repetition compulsion.
Romans 10:17 is an example, it is mistranslated as ‘hearing and hearing’ in
most translation. Some tried to put the second word as ‘hearing by/through
the Word’. When one checks the Greek text the first ‘hearing’ is in passive
tense while the second ‘hearing’ is in active tense. In English the proper
word for hearing actively is listening.

Thousands of sounds travel to our ears but all do not get registered in our
minds. Registering also can be temporary (short time) or permanent
(forever). Lord asks us to listen and not hear the Word of God. Hearing
will do no good but listening will. To listen we need to abide in it, it is
only when we abide in it do we understand it. It is only because we hear
and not listen to the Word of God, that we do not understand it.

Today the Lord is asking us to break free from repetition compulsion. He is
asking us to renew our inner-man by thinking and not blindly following
anything. Bible says anything followed without understanding is sin.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Living God. You are not deaf or impotent. Nothing is hidden
from You nor is nothing impossible to You. Lord we pray that we overcome
our old nature. We pray our prayers be full of faith and not repetitive and
long. We pray we break our outer old shell and like many animals discard
our older skin to possess a new skin...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing the word of God.

Luke 18:2-8
2 Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither
regarded man:
3 And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying,
Avenge me of mine adversary.
4 And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself,
Though I fear not God, nor regard man;
5 Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her
continual coming she weary me.
6 And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith.
7 And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto
him, though he bear long with them?
8 I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son
of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?

Romans 14:23 And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth
not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.

Disconnected due to one mis-understanding

John 6:66 From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no
more with him.

Today’s scripture talks of the many who forsook the Lord Jesus and went
back to their worldly life all because of their lack of understanding one
thing which Jesus spoke of - eating His flesh. The scripture does not leave
room for any assumptions; it clearly says due to that one misunderstanding
they followed Him NO MORE.

Let us be alert about this fact, it takes just one misunderstanding or one
understanding to change our course of our earthly as well as our spiritual
life. By just one understanding or misunderstanding we can be blessed or
lose our blessings. It is very important that we recheck our every
understanding.

Here in this incident we see those who left Jesus were people who thought
in the simple way, the worldly natural way while what Jesus said was more
complex and spiritual.

We have a large number of Christians who think Bible is supposed to be
simple and the Gospel cannot be complicated. It is these people who risk
becoming like the people who will forsake the Lord for a simple reason. Let
me tell you even great famous Preachers fall in this category.

Let me tell you THE WORD OF GOD IS NOT SIMPLE. It is written in such a way
that even the simple can take something of it but the wise will know there
is a treasure within it and do not let go till they pursue its deep rich
understanding.

In the OT the Lord projects Truth and its understanding with the fruit
pomegranate. This fruit has great spiritual understanding so much so not
only the Bible but even Greek mythology gives importance to it. According
to ancient Greek mythology, they even predate the seasons. The story goes
that Hades, god of the underworld, kidnapped his beloved Persephone,
daughter of Demeter, goddess of the harvest. Demeter’s grief over
Persephone’s disappearance caused the crops to wither and wreaked havoc
with humanity. The plight of the starving masses coerced Zeus to convince
Hades to return Persephone to her mother. Before she left the underworld,
however, Hades tricked her into eating a pomegranate seed, which bound her
to evermore spend part of the year with her happy mother, during which time
plants flourished, and part of the year in the underworld, during which
time plants go fallow. Thus, seasons arose.

Let us understand the fruit to understand its symbolism. The pomegranate
falls in berries category of fruits but is large and has leather like
cover. The English names from Latin and means seeded apple, the Hebrew
(biblical) name means exalted or lifted up. The pomegranate was one of the
earliest wild plants that were domesticated. It grows on small trees /
large shrubs (avg. about 5m tall). When we open the fruit we see it is
divided into sections separated by a thin membrane housing about 200 to
1400 sarcotesta (seeds with a fleshy cover). The shape of each sarcotesta
is unique and fits in its unique place within the fruit. One cannot take a
sarcotesta and put it in another place, it will not fit.

If we understand this fruit we will understand truth and the Word of God.
The Word of God is not just spiritual but works in different areas of our
life like the different sections of the fruit. Each scripture (truth) is
like a sarcotesta and its understanding is like one of the many flat faces
of the sarcotesta. It is only when we put the various understandings of
each unit that we get the complete understanding of it.

In today’s message when Jesus said eat my flesh, He did not mean literal
flesh but the Hebrew word has the root meaning ‘message’ (tiding), He said
unless we consume His message and make it part of us we will not have
anything to do with Him.

Let us pursue the complete understand of the Word and know every
understanding of the Word correlates with each other tightly.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are full of wisdom. Man was remove from Heaven because the truth
was corrupted in him. In your wisdom You Lord created this world and
mankind for a purpose. You make all things in an image so that man may
understand and know the truth. It is the truth that restores us to You and
to our inheritance in You. Lord we thank You for paying the price and
giving us your Spirit – the Spirit of Truth who reveals the truth to us...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Exodus 39:26 A bell and a pomegranate, a bell and a pomegranate, round
about the hem of the robe to minister in; as the LORD commanded Moses.

Song of Solomon 4:3 Thy lips are like a thread of scarlet, and thy speech
is comely: thy temples are like a piece of a pomegranate within thy locks.

John 8:31-32
31 Jesus therefore said to those Jews that had believed him, If ye abide
in my word, then are ye truly my disciples;
32 and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Signs of a Messenger

2 Corinthians 12:12 Truly the signs of an apostle were wrought among you
in all patience, in signs, and wonders, and mighty deeds.

In today’s message we see Paul in his second letter to the Church in
Corinth says he see signs of an Apostle in them. Note this is Paul who is
saying this, that too a congregation which troubled him the most.

All Callings are mostly connected to Spiritual Gifts like Prophet is
connected to Prophesy, Teacher to wisdom, Evangelist to miracles so on...
but when it comes to an Apostle and Administrator (Bishop/One who is called
to administer a congregation) they both are more connected to purely Fruits
and not gifts.

We can do all things in Christ but if we have a Calling there is a special
functioning of that Calling in us. The signature of an Apostle is patience.
The Greek word ‘apostolos’ comes from the word which means messenger. One
of the prime tasks of an Apostle is like that of a missionary to go to new
places dwell among people who do not know Christ and slowly bring them to
the knowledge of Christ. He is not called to hold large meetings and do
great miracles like we see people who call themselves ‘Apostle’ do. We can
see a good role of an Apostleship in Paul who was instrument setting up at
least a thousand Churches on the three long trips he took across various
lands.

Coming back to the signature identity of an Apostle - patience which Paul
saw in the Church of Corinth, patience is not a Fruit of the Holy Spirit.
Many translations have translated Longsuffering (endurance) as patience.

When the Lord asked to write a book on patience, in the start I thought
what is so difficult to write on that topic, but as I started I realized
nothing I knew justified as patience. It was only when the Lord opened my
mind did I start to understand patience.

In simple words I put patience as a fruit salad, here only the fruits are
Fruits of the Holy Spirit. The greatest virtue of a Christian is patience.
Every Christian is called to be patient knowing what is set forth what is
coming and when it is coming, enduring that which is happening with the
strength of the joy of the Holy Spirit.

Let us who are called to be messengers of the Lord Jesus Christ show in us
the virtue of a Christian, that is patience. Let us look if we are anxious,
worried, sad, fearful of this world, lost etc. then we are failing in being
Christian, a Messenger of God.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Omnipresent God. You dwell beyond the dimension of time. You
know all and yet You work on us on a day to day basis. Lord we pray we walk
in the spirit and less in the flesh showing the virtue of patience in us...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Luke 8:15 But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and
good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with
patience.

Luke 21:19 In your patience possess ye your souls.

Romans 4:1-5
1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our
Lord Jesus Christ:
2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand,
and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
3 And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that
tribulation worketh patience;
4 And patience, experience; and experience, hope:
5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in
our hearts by the Holy Spirit which is given unto us.

Discipleship follows spiritual manifestation

2 Corinthians 12:12 Truly the signs of an apostle were wrought among you
in all patience, in signs, and wonders, and mighty deeds.

Three days back we were given this very scripture and after that the Lord
spoke to us about a Christian giving unto Lord’s Kingdom not for other’s
sake but for one own sake and after that it was about a Christian being
person on continual repentance. I failed to mention that the word baptism
(Greek baptizo) comes from a term used for dyeing clothes. So baptism does
not mean just being immersed in water but more about losing one’s own
characteristics and putting on the characteristics of that which they are
baptized in, therefore baptism in Christ means dying to one’s self and
putting on Christ. Baptism is a continual process.

A Christian is a messenger of Christ and does not live for one self but
lives for the purpose which God has made man. Something I also missed on
addressing three days back which today the Lord wants us to note. A
Christian is not a person who is just filled with knowledge or wisdom. We
find in other religions they seek knowledge and understanding of life and
spiritual things. But Bible says the knowledge and understanding of God
gives power and as specified in today’s message it manifests with signs and
wonders and mighty deeds.

If we are Christians who are not manifesting the power and glory of God
then it simply means we know about God but really do not know Him. We may
be people who are filled with knowledge about God but this knowledge is
worldly and not true, if our knowledge of God is true, than even little
knowledge will manifest with signs, wonders and mighty deeds. Note also the
scripture does not say one of them but says all three, so there will be
miracle accompanied with a mark and power of God (not a human but divine).
We also need to note just sign and wonders without knowledge can be deceit
of the devil, thus all three needs to be in place.

We are called not to be just good Christians knowing about God but to be
people manifesting the power of God. People should come to us to know God
by seeing the power of God manifesting in each of us.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Omnipotent God. We pray we remember You are a Living God and
You never sleep. You God work wonders in the life and through those who
know You. We pray Lord we assess ourselves to know if we know about You or
know You. Lord we pray our knowledge be true, accompanied by power by
knowing You more and more...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
2 Peter 1: 3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things
that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that
hath called us to glory and virtue:

Romans 15:19 Through mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit
of God; so that from Jerusalem, and round about unto Illyricum, I have
fully preached the gospel of Christ.

Hebrew 2:3-4
3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the
first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them
that heard him;
4 God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with
divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to his own will?

Matthew 24:24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and
shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible,
they shall deceive the very elect.

End Times!

2 Thessalonians 1:3,4 We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren,
as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity
of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth; So that we ourselves
glory in you in the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your
persecutions and tribulations that ye endure:

If we look at the contents of the letters of Paul to the various Churches
we understand from them the spiritual state of their congregation and the
various issues that troubled them. Paul wrote multiple letters to some
Churches because of the seriousness of the problem troubling them. Paul did
not need to write to the Church of Berea since they were people strong in
scriptures. But we see Paul who says the Church of Thessalonica was strong
in faith, yet Paul wrote 2 letters to them! If we look at the content of
both letters, they are primarily addressing to end days. The people of
Thessalonica were anxious of the second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ and
the end of this creation. They were facing persecution and were faithfully
enduring it thinking the end is at hand.

We have a large number of Christian who dwell in Corinth (worldly Church)
yet speak like Thessalonians (a mature Church). They will talk continuously
of Christ coming soon and literately walk looking for signs in the sky. Any
silly thing they see, they will declare as a sign of end days.

Some time back I was added to a Whatsapp group with the topic ‘end times’
and looking at the discussion I could not figure where to start and what
all to clear, so wisely exited it.

Paul did warn people of end days and told people to be prepared for it, but
it has been almost 2000 years Paul, was Paul lying or deceiving the people.
We need to understand from the letters to Thessalonica that Paul knew that
the natural end days were far off yet he warned people to be ready for it.

Even today naturally the end days are far off (every prophecy in the Bible
needs to come to pass before Christ comes) yet we are called to be prepared
since our death is any day. When we die, due to our faith in Christ we
sleep. The day we are woken (resurrect) we will see the coming of Christ
and His Angels and find ourselves standing before the Judgment Throne.

Most of our confusion of the end days is because of the basics of the
Heavens, of human natural / spiritual life is distorted. The prime reason
of this is that pagan understanding of life which was fused into Judaism
and then into Catholicism is now among Christians.

Let is stick to what scriptures say not ignoring even one. Let us neither
add to them nor take away from them for if we do we will loose from the
riches we have stored for ourselves in Heaven. Let us remember one thing
God has created this world for a purpose and like until God waited for Noah
to finish the ark so also God will wait until we finish the work He has
given unto us.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Almighty, Omnipresent God, full of wisdom. You have set things
in place knowing the end time this creation which You have made for a
purpose. You Word gives us an idea of the time (season) but does not
mention the day (hour) when all this will end. You Lord have mentions some
signs to watch for to know the end is at hand. Lord we pray we understand
unless every prophecy does not come to pass the end will not come. We pray
we are not deceived by false signs but keep our eyes on your Word alone...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
1 Thessalonians 4:16-18
16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the
voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ
shall rise first:
17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with
them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be
with the Lord.
18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

1 Thessalonians 5:1-11
1 But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write
unto you.
2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a
thief in the night.
3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction
cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not
escape.
4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you
as a thief.
5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are
not of the night, nor of darkness.
6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.
7 For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are
drunken in the night.
8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of
faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.
9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our
Lord Jesus Christ,
10 Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live
together with him.
11 Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as
also ye do.

2 Thessalonians 2:5-17
5 Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?
6 And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time.
7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth
will let, until he be taken out of the way.
8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with
the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his
coming:
9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and
signs and lying wonders,
10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish;
because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they
should believe a lie:
12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had
pleasure in unrighteousness.
13 But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved
of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation
through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:
14 Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of
our Lord Jesus Christ.
15 Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have
been taught, whether by word, or our epistle.
16 Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath
loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through
grace,
17 Comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work.

Giving unto the Lord’s people

2 Corinthians 8:11, 12 Now therefore perform the doing of it; that as
there was a readiness to will, so there may be a performance also out of
that which ye have. For if there be first a willing mind, it is accepted
according to that a man hath, and not according to that he hath not.

Last Saturday at the Gideons meeting (an organization I am part of) a
brother shared a testimony which really shook us.

A Pastor from a posh area called this brother stating he wanted to
contribute to the Gideons ministry. This brother knew this Pastor as being
heading a very small and that too on not so rich congregation, not
expecting much he did not commit him an appointment. This Pastor called him
again and again, and this brother thought if he travelled all that distance
(he stayed on the other side of Mumbai), he would spend as much as to what
he would receive so did not go.

One day the Lord ministered unto this brother that even if that Pastor gave
him Rs10, it was the Lord’s money and this brother should go joyfully to
receive it. So he went to meet the Pastor. When he met the Pastor, the
Pastor took him from the posh area unto a slum area which was so dark that
the brother feared he would get lost there. The Pastor led him to a small
house of 10 by 10feet where a woman with her 2 daughters lived. When they
entered they wondered where they would sit. The woman and the Pastor
insisted our brother sit on the bed which could accommodate only one person
comfortably. So our brother sat on it and shared a short devotion. This
sister whose house they went was time and again asking if it was okay now
for her to give what she wanted to give. In the start they told her later,
after the devotion, but then she went on time and again, so much so that
even her Pastor got irritated.

Later she opened a dilapidated cupboard from which she removed 2 large
bundles of 100 rupees notes. When they counted the amount it was about
1lakh! Only God knows how much time she took to collect that amount. A
woman who did not have proper vessels to even serve tea to her guest was
generously giving for the Lord’s work. What she said later was even more
heart touching, she said her parents taught her how to give unto the Lord
and now she was teaching her daughters to do the same.

Today’s message speaks of Paul instructing the Corinth on the importance of
giving unto God and His people.

We need to understand giving is not a choice but a necessity, necessity not
for the person or the cause (concerning God’s Kingdom) which we are giving
to, but we give for our own sake. When we give here, we are actually doing
a transfer to our account in Heaven. Here it is not the amount we give that
is transferred but from what we have that we give, that is multiplied and
transferred into our accounts in Heaven. So what this lady gave was greater
than the millions which a very rich man gives. Our heavenly account is also
credited by the works of faith we do on earth.

Why do we need to collect into our accounts?

The amount will decide where in Heaven we will dwell, for Heaven is not a
flat place. The higher the place in Heaven is nearer to the Throne of God’s
glory. This amount can also be used for our prayer requests while we are
alive, and if we withdraw from this account for others, to bless them, then
this amount gets credited back with interest back into our accounts.

Let us think not about what we have here on earth where we live for a short
time but also think about what we have in our heavenly accounts where we
live our eternal lives. So let us learn to give especially unto the Lord’s
purpose and unto His people.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are God who created everything that exist. You made whole planets
that are made of precious material but made it scarce on earth. You Lord do
not need anything yet desire we give unto your Kingdom so that we get
blessed greatly. We pray Lord we learn to give generously unto your
Kingdom...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Mark 4:19 And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches,
and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh
unfruitful.

Mark 10:24 And the disciples were astonished at his words. But Jesus
answereth again, and saith unto them, Children, how hard is it for them
that trust in riches to enter into the kingdom of God!

James 5:1-3
1 Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come
upon you.
2 Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are motheaten.
3 Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a
witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have
heaped treasure together for the last days.

Matthew 6:19-20
19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust
doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor
rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

Matthew 19:21 Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell
that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in
heaven: and come and follow me.

Blaspheming the Name of God by their righteousness

Romans 2: 17, 24 Behold, thou art called a Jew, and restest in the law,
and makest thy boast of God, For the name of God is blasphemed among the
Gentiles through you, as it is written.

The word Jew comes from the name Judah which means ‘He shall be praised’.
These very people who were selected to lift up the name of the Lord were
prophesized to be the people who blasphemed the name of the Lord among the
Gentiles.

We read in our previous messages that the promise of Abraham’s blessing was
for MANY NATIONS who have faith in the Seed of Abraham (Christ). We also
saw the term righteousness does not mean being an implementer of the Law
but more about being like the one (Lord) who gave us the Law. We have been
confusing human righteousness with godly righteousness. Mercy may conflict
with human righteousness but is a part of godly righteousness.

In today’s message we read the Jews blasphemed the name of God by their
righteousness. They were not doers of the Law but were propaganda machines
of the distorted little they knew of the Law. Just because the Lord had
blessed them due to their fathers, it does not mean they are special. One
does not become special by blessings, that too not earned by that person.

One may call the Jews / Israelites as ‘blessed people’ but called them as
‘God’s chosen people’ would be like blaspheming the name of God. Yes, they
were called to be ‘God’s chosen people’, that’s why they were given the
first preference but by them rejecting the very person (Jesus Christ - the
Promised Seed of Abraham) who connected them to the giver of their
blessings they are no longer God’s chosen people. This offer to be God’s
Chosen People went out to any and every person who believed in Abraham’s
Promised Seed.

I hope the letter to Romans is studied again and again especially by
Pastors who keep the Israeli flag on their office desk. They should
understand why Saul reverted to his Roman name Paul. They should realize
they nullify Christianity, its foundation and blasphemy God by claiming
Jews as still the Chosen People of God.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are God of all Creation. You were, You are and You will always be
the same. Right from the start You chose us to be your people for Bible
says You knew us from the beginning. Lord we pray people understand they do
not be like the Jews who received worldly blessings but lost the Heavenly
blessing of eternal life by rejecting Christ. We pray our brethren seek
Christ more than seek the worldly Israel...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Romans 2:17-29

Isaiah 52:5 Now therefore, what have I here, saith the LORD, that my
people is taken away for nought? they that rule over them make them to
howl, saith the LORD; and my name continually every day is blasphemed.

John 8:31-45

Romans 4:13-18
13 For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to
Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of
faith.
14 For if they which are of the law be heirs, faith is made void, and the
promise made of none effect:
15 Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no
transgression.
16 Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the
promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the
law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father
of us all,
17 (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before
him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those
things which be not as though they were.
18 Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of
many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be.

Due punishment for our sins

Luke 23:40 But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear
God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation?

In today’s message we see when one of the criminals crucified next to Jesus
challenges Him to prove Himself to be the Son of God by saving Himself, the
other rebukes him saying they were due the punishment but Jesus being
innocent was punished with them.

Man punishes another man for their wrongs doing and they call is a
righteous decision. Bible says the righteousness of man is rags before God.
So we need to confirm if punishing another person truly a righteous deed
according to the Lord. Jesus forgiving a person did not make Him
unrighteous.

We do see in the OT God gives instructions to His people as to what
punishment to be dealt out for what types of sins. If we look closely at
those sins, they were the ones which were rampant among the people. If we
track them, we see God increased the harshness of the punishment as the
people became more suborn and continued breaking that law - take for
example the Sabbath law, at the end stoning to death was mend out for
breaking it. So the punishment was not the payment of the sin but more as a
deterrent to prevent the person and others from sinning. The purpose of
keeping the Sabbath is to trust God as our provider. Seven symbolizes
completeness of the Spirit so resting on the seventh day is not more about
the day but more about spiritually trusting God and we demonstrate it by
resting from our worldly works for a day.

The fact we do not understand sin is the reason we think God punishes us
for our sins, especially after we die. Jesus did not change the law of God
when He came as man as what most think, what He did is exactly what God
wanted to do right from the start. He was merciful before and even later.
He never changes.

Let us get it into ourselves; God does not punish us for our sins. I showed
in my previous message sins are not stains that can be washed but are deed
that corrupt us, they take away the goodness in us (in Acts 22:16 the Greek
word translated as ‘wash away’ actually means to separate). That means the
more we sin the more goodness is taken away, that is why we feel more far
away from God even though He is omnipresent. Another fact is our sins are
like eternal burning coals of fire within us that burn when the person goes
to hell (which is a prison and not a place ruled by Satan).

Forgiveness from God separates us from the consequence of our sins. That
means we do not suffer our sins. As far as being restored of our loss, God
has given us His Spirit. It is His Spirit who works in us and restores the
damage sin has done in us. This restoration is what is called overcoming
the sin nature.

Our God is Righteous and His Righteousness does not mean to punish a person
but means to save the person from punishment. He may droll out some smaller
punishment as deterrent (chastise us) to save us from we receiving the
larger punishment which we mend out on ourselves.

God wants us to save us from sin and for that He needs to save us from
ourselves. Our sinful nature causes us to sin and that is why He is trying
to separate us from our sinful nature by inducing His Nature in us. We
cannot fight sin or sin nature that dwells in us; we can overcome it only
by putting on the nature of Christ. We do not fight evil but overcome it by
doing good.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Righteous and Merciful God. Your Righteousness does not
conflict with You being merciful. Lord we pray we understand we do not be
foolish to think righteousness means being judgmental. The righteous of man
does that but not your righteousness. We pray we understand the importance
of being merciful and importance of overcoming evil with goodness...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Luke 23:39-43
39 And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If
thou be Christ, save thyself and us.
40 But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God,
seeing thou art in the same condemnation?
41 And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but
this man hath done nothing amiss.
42 And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy
kingdom.
43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day [that day]
shalt thou be with me in paradise.

Hebrews 8:12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their
sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.

Acts 22:16 And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash
away (separates us from) thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.

Romans 13:14 But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision
for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

Galatians 3:27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have
put on Christ.

Is God’s hand short to protect?

Acts 21: 32 Who immediately took soldiers and centurions, and ran down
unto them: and when they saw the chief captain and the soldiers, they left
beating of Paul.

We always talk of persecution where Christians are at times even martyred,
but we need to understand all are not called to martyrdom. We see quite a
few Christian preachers doing missionary work by wrong means / unchristian
methods or for the wrong purpose. Christian Churches reach out to the lost
not for the primary purpose to save souls but more to increase their Church
congregation and I have seen some time or later these Churches have faced
problems either from people or from the Lord (tough situations). When
people are not making disciples for the Lord then they cannot claim to be
persecuted in the Lord’s name.

If we look at persecutions in the Bible, each and every one had a reason
for which their faith was tested. Whenever the Church did things contrary
to the Kingdom of God, we see persecution followed. Lord does not bring the
persecution, the world by default hates God and things of the Lord, what
the Lord does is remove the hand of protection and thus persecution is
allowed. But in all this the Lord sets a limit.

A few days back I was with a team which was distributing scriptures to a
school. We went there after taking permission from the principal. We were
distributing as the students left, after we finished a large part of the
school we were waiting for last two divisions. Suddenly from nowhere a
Hindu radical group of people landed and started roughing up the crowd,
with great anger against what we were doing. They were abusive and pushing
people around. They even beat the principal when he denied he gave us
permission. They falsely accused him of taking money from us. In all this
the Lord made sure they did not touch us. Just within seconds of the
situation was getting heated the police arrived and took a few of us along
with the remaining scriptures. Like in today’s message the soldiers
protected Paul here too the police made sure to protect us from this fringe
group. We were taken to the police station, kept there for some time and
later released. This fringe group tried their best to get us in trouble yet
it was the Lord who protected us. They wanted to bring fear into us, but
were not successful. The very next day we were out again distributing in
another place and managed to distribute about 12000 scriptures and had to
leave because the stock got over. We left with sadness since the people
were ready to receive more.

I know of testimonies where a senior person of one such Hindu fringe group
attended a prayer meeting in a village to cause trouble but to his shock
his own father who was deaf since many years got healed at this very same
meeting. This incident caused many in that village to come to know the Lord..

I can quote many incidents from my personal life and also the NT faced by
the Church and even Jesus where people wanted to harm the people of God but
none were able to affect them. The only times in the NT and even OT the
worldly people were able to even lay hands on the people of God is when
they made mistakes or moved out of the favor of the Lord.

We need to remember in the book of Numbers not one Israelite solider was
harmed or the army faced any casualty when they walked in the Commandments
of the Lord. The Hand of our Lord is not short to be unable to protect us.
If God could blind the eyes of a whole army and take them from one place to
another at the command of a Man of God then He can do that to a group of
people even today. He can even cause confusion between their ranks and
cause them to fall against each other.

Let us ask ourselves the purpose we are going out to do the ‘work of the
Kingdom of God’? Let us used wisdom and discernment given by the Lord in
what we do. Let us build ourselves in the Fruits as well as Gifts of the
Holy Spirit, for when persecution does come they are the ones which can
turn the persecution into blessings.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Almighty God. There is nothing for You Lord that is not
possible. You have no worthy enemies but have yet allowed them to exist so
has to shame them in the worst possible way. You Lord lift the weak and
make them strong. You chose babes and fill them with wisdom and courage to
outshine the wise of the world. Lord we pray we use discernment in all that
we do. We pray we keep You first and your purpose first in all that we do....

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
2 Kings 6:15-23

Luke 21:12-19
12 But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute
you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought
before kings and rulers for my name’s sake.
13 And it shall turn to you for a testimony.
14 Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what ye
shall answer:
15 For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries
shall not be able to gainsay nor resist.
16 And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks,
and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death.
17 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake.
18 But there shall not an hair of your head perish.
19 In your patience possess ye your souls.

Discern the anointing you seek

Luke 9:54-56 And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said,
Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume
them, even as Elias did? But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know
not what manner of spirit ye are of. For the Son of man is not come to
destroy men’s lives, but to save them. And they went to another village.

In today’s message we see Jesus rebukes James and John about the suggestion
they gave and indirectly Jesus rebuked Elijah for it was Elijah who did
what James and John requested.

This is one understanding which really hit me hard and took me months to
get it into my system. There was always a question of why John the Baptist
lived a life of repentance right from a young age. The Catholic Church
promote ‘penance’ - self-punishment for known or unknown sins (including
those of our ancestors), but we know Bible does not preach on that lines.
All our self-induced suffering or sacrifice would not pay for even one of
our sins. The question of the life of John the Baptist if not answered
would justify the Catholic doctrine (understanding).

We need to get these 2 facts clear one is that John the Baptist was indeed
Elijah who did not die and thus came back as John. Elijah as a prophet was
aware of the Lord’s coming as man and was also aware that someone would be
sent to make way for His coming, so Elijah took that place. John himself
did not know he was Elijah but we see Jesus knew and confirmed the same
only to those who could understand (Matthew 11:13-15).

Elijah was a man mighty in the Lord but in all this he did not understand
the heart of God. He greatly manifested the gifts of the Spirit but lacked
in Fruits (something we see most evangelist do today). The kind of miracles
he did was unknown until his time and this anointing he gave unto his
student Elisha that too a double portion and we see Elisha behaved like
Elijah. Elisha did greater miracles than Elijah including bringing dead to
alive, parting the sea etc. but in the end we see this anointing did not
help him nor save him from his own death but did bring another dead person
to life even after his death. We find even though Elisha did the maximum
miracles in the OT Jesus not once gave him any credit or take his name. The
Jews also understood it was the spirit (anointing) of Elijah that worked
through Elisha.

Elisha’s anointing did not come from God but from Elijah, something most
people today do without understanding the danger of receiving someone’s
anointing. This is something the Lord opened my eyes to when I saw some of
our Indian youth evangelist imitate T D Jakes not only in parrot his
teachings, but also his style of speaking and his presence on the stage.
They also did manifest his power, including the healings and miracles T D
jakes did. Another Preacher (Healer) who dangerously promotes transferring
one’s anointing (even through the TV medium) without knowing its risk is
Benny Hinn. I know people who have fallen for this and are operating in his
spirit (anointing) doing all his mistakes also.

God showed Moses when He took the anointing that was on him and put on 70
others and they did exhibit the power which Moses manifested. We can take
an anointing of Man of God and operate like that person but then there is a
danger we fall in that is we become a disciple of that man and not of God.
Let us pursue what God has for us in our lives, thus our anointing should
come from Him.

Elijah was indeed great and Elisha did greater things in his life that led
only to his fame. We see Elijah repented as John the Baptist and was
restored in status by the fact when Jesus transfigured He summoned Elijah
along with Moses.

Gifts of the Holy Spirit can give us fame and attract people to us, but
they will not induce the nature of Christ into them to make them Disciples
of Christ. We should use gifts very carefully, they can be instruments
which can ignite or trigger the change but change should be purely on
Fruits, working the nature of the Lord in them. Lord did not ask us to make
disciples for ourselves but for Him.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are God and You alone are God. You God are Holy and You ask us to
also be holy. You are Almighty and Righteous yet You your mercy keeps us
and transforms us to justify us before You. Lord we pray we do not be
judgmental of people but show mercy like You show unto us...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Matthew 11:13-15
13 For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John.
14 And if ye will receive it, this is Elias, which was for to come.
15 He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

2 Kings 1:10 And Elijah answered and said to the captain of fifty, If I be
a man of God, then let fire come down from heaven, and consume thee and thy
fifty. And there came down fire from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty..

2 Kings 2:9, 12-14
9 And it came to pass, when they were gone over, that Elijah said unto
Elisha, Ask what I shall do for thee, before I be taken away from thee. And
Elisha said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me.
12 And Elisha saw it, and he cried, My father, my father, the chariot of
Israel, and the horsemen thereof. And he saw him no more: and he took hold
of his own clothes, and rent them in two pieces.
13 He took up also the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and went back,
and stood by the bank of Jordan;
14 And he took the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and smote the
waters, and said, Where is the LORD God of Elijah? and when he also had
smitten the waters, they parted hither and thither: and Elisha went over.

Not hired but an owner

Galatians 4:7 Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a
son, then an heir of God through Christ.

In many of the translations we see the word ‘slave’ is used instead of the
word ‘servant’. When we see slavery in the Bible pertaining to the
Israelites, it was not really slavery but was bonded labor. By law the Jews
were compelled to release the servant that too paying him or her
satisfactorily within a period of max 7 years. The relationship between the
servant and master was recommended to be so close that if the servant did
not want to leave, the master was to keep the servant as an extended family
member; the master was free even to get the servant married to someone in
the family. By marriage the person had full rights of as family member,
including inheritance.

Today’s message tells us we were like the bonded servants but now that we
are set free by our baptism in Christ we are no longer servants. What is
more credible is that due to our bonding with Christ we are now part of the
family having rights to the Kingdom of God. We are now no longer servants
but are sons.

We need to remember we are sons only when we are committed to Christ. If we
are disconnected from Christ we are no longer holding the status of
son-ship. The relationship is not by believing in Christ but by pursuing
the character of Christ in our lives. Like Paul says we need to put on
Christ, that is imitate Him so much that we lose ourselves, being no longer
ourselves by nature but in His nature.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Creator and God. Everything that exist is by You. You God
share this with us insignificant and unworthy beings called man. You Lord
lift us and make us worthy to receive from You. We pray Lord we understand
the importance of imitating Christ so as to receive the riches of Heaven.
We pray we be less of ourselves and more of Christ each and every day of
our lives...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Romans 13:14 But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision
for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

Galatians 3:27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have
put on Christ.

Galatians 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I,
but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live
by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

1 Timothy 1:16 Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first
Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them
which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.

Man of God without honor

John 4:44 For Jesus himself testified, that a prophet hath no honour in his
own country.

A man is a weak being even though he or she has a spirit within as powerful
as an Angle. A man who follows or seeks the things of the flesh is called a
carnal or worldly man, and a man who follows or seeks the things of the
Spirit (of God) is called a spiritual being or Man (Woman) of God. Even
though one is a Man of God, he or she is at a state between overcoming the
flesh and being totally spiritual.

Another fact we should also understand a Man of God does not mean a
magician or superhero character from the comic books who demonstrates his
or her power every now and then at the snap of the finger. The one Prophet
who did something like this (Elijah) was rebuked by Jesus.

The word Prophet in the OT is the Hebrew word Nabi which means a Man of
God. It should not be mistaken with a person having a Calling of a Prophet.
So every Nabi was not necessarily a Prophet but may have had another
Calling like an Apostle or Teacher or even Evangelist etc. In some cases
the term Seer is used to identify the person as having a Calling of a
Prophet (but not in all cases).

Every Man of God will have a weak side and a strong side of him or her.
Today’s scripture tells us those who are close to a Man of God and know his
or her weaker side will look at it more than the stronger side. Jesus as
man had humbled Himself and was without glory and power which He had as God
the Son. So as man He was totally like us. He was born without inheriting
sin nature (since He was born not of a human father) and with the power of
the Holy Spirit He remained without sinning. As a child He grew in
maturity, understanding and gifts of the Holy Spirit. The only difference
between Him and us who are born-again (baptized in the Holy Spirit) is that
we were born with sin nature, sinned and forgiven, while He was born
without sin nature and never sinned. Another factor of difference is we,
each who have a Calling have only one Calling and remain in it throughout
our natural life, He on the other hand had all the Callings together in
Him. The reason is that Callings are associated with the Seven Spirits of
the Holy Spirit and in Him God (Holy Spirit) dwelled in the complete, while
in us we receive the promise of the Holy Spirit on baptism of Water, a
token when we are baptizes and grow as we receive more and more of Him. As
we grow we may do all things but yet we remain in one Calling. We together
as a body overcome all areas of the flesh while He alone did overcome it
completely.

Jesus always did everything to glorify the Father; He never did anything
that would attract the people to glorify Him. The only time He was cornered
to do a miracle which caused people to glorify Him was at the wedding at
Cana.

Today’s scripture says since the people with whom He grew up saw the human
factor of Him (studying, growing in maturity etc.) they overlooked the
godly part of Him and did not honor Him. This caused them to be hardened in
hearts. Even though they heard Him, they did not listen and thus not have
faith in what He said. So much was their faithlessness that Jesus had
difficulties to perform miracles among them.

We all know the Pharisees were rebuked by Jesus for being far from God, yet
we see Jesus did not condemn them as completely evil. He told the people to
hear them but not to follow them.

Every Man of God however small or greatly mature in Spirit should be heard
but not necessarily believed. We need to discern his or her words with
scriptures, accept it if it aligns with scriptures, reject it if it goes
against it and keep it aside if in doubt.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are Almighty God, full of Power and Glory. You could have
ministered to every soul directly and revealed yourself directly, yet You
do not. You have given us this task so that we, ourselves grow in the
Spirit as we minister to others. Lord we pray understand the importance of
growing in the Spirit, about overcoming our old being. Lord we pray we do
not condemn people who are growing in You, but support them, receiving the
good while correcting the weakness...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Luke 1:80 And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, and was in the
deserts till the day of his shewing unto Israel.

Luke 2:40 And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with
wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him.

Mark 3:30,31
30 Because they said, He hath an unclean spirit.
31 There came then [Came therefore] his brethren and his mother, and,
standing without, sent unto him, calling him.

John 7:3-5
3 His brethren therefore said unto him, Depart hence, and go into Judaea,
that thy disciples also may see the works that thou doest.
4 For there is no man that doeth any thing in secret, and he himself
seeketh to be known openly. If thou do these things, shew thyself to the
world.
5 For neither did his brethren believe in him.

Luke 10:13-16
13 Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty
works had been done in Tyre and Sidon, which have been done in you, they
had a great while ago repented, sitting in sackcloth and ashes.
14 But it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgment, than
for you.
15 And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted to heaven, shalt be thrust down
to hell.
16 He that heareth you heareth me; and he that despiseth you despiseth me;
and he that despiseth me despiseth him that sent me.

Luke 9:54-56
54 And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, Lord, wilt
thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even
as Elias did?
55 But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of
spirit ye are of.
56 For the Son of man is not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save
them. And they went to another village.

Flesh v/s Spirit

Galatians 5:17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit
against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye
cannot do the things that ye would.

Yesterday we saw about Grace v/s Works, that works is not against grace,
what matters is what kind of works. Works of righteous go against grace but
works of faith keep the flow of grace and also increase it into all areas
of our lives.

Today the Lord is bringing our attention to another two points of
contradiction - flesh and spirit. We know the term flesh speaks of the
carnal aspect of a person and not the literal meat. But we see when Jesus
said unless we eat His flesh we will not have life. When the Jews heard it
they were shocked.

We need to keep in mind Jesus did not preach in Greek (even if He knew it),
He preached in Hebrew to the Jews and Aramaic to the common people. So we
need to see to whom He was talking to, to take the root meaning of the
word. In Hebrew the root meaning of the word ‘basar’ for ‘flesh’ is good
news / gospel / tiding. So when Jesus said unless we eat His flesh, we will
have no life, He did not mean literal flesh but meant unless we receive His
Gospel we will have no life. So when we break bread (symbolizing His flesh)
and eat at a service, one of the things we do is declare we accept the
Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.

The world gives us a gospel and the Kingdom of God gives us a Gospel. The
Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ is the Gospel of the spirit while the
gospel of the world is the gospel of carnal desires. Both the world and the
Kingdom of God are preaching unto us. What matters is whom we are listening
to and which gospel we are abiding in.

Like the worldly gospel keeps is going deeper and deeper into the desires
of the carnal person and is continuous so also Gospel of the Kingdom of God
is continuous and keeps lifting us up day by day as we keep receiving more
and more of it. The gospel of the world leads us to vanity and the Gospel
of the Kingdom of God to an abundance and eternal life.

Let us be cautious when we entertain our desires for are we giving into the
gospel of the flesh. Though we dwell in the flesh let us not give in to the
desires of the flesh. Needs and desires need to be distinguished by the
help of the Holy Spirit. It is only when we overcome the flesh by abiding
more towards the spirit we are truly called Sons of God.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord You are God and You are Spirit. Your ways are not man’s ways, your
thoughts are unlike man’s thoughts. Lord we pray even though we live in
this corrupt world and this corrupt flesh that feeds on desires, help us
control and overcome our desires to discern that is which is necessary and
which is not. We pray for abundance of the Spirit and for the necessities
of the flesh...

This prayer we make in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
John 6:51-53
51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of
this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my
flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.
52 The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying, How can this man
give us his flesh to eat?
53 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye
eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in
you.

Matthew 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by
bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

Matthew 26:41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the
spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

John 3:6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born
of the Spirit is spirit.

Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in
Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
