Pence casts tie-breaking vote to advance Trump judicial nominee Thomas Farr

Vice President Mike Pence cast the tie-breaking vote Wednesday to advance President Donald Trump’s controversial judicial nominee Thomas Farr toward confirmation to be a district judge for the Eastern District of North Carolina.

But there was another twist Thursday as Republican Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC), the key swing vote, reversed his previous support of Farr to oppose him, all but dooming his confirmation.

Pence advances judicial nominee
Farr was facing a divided Senate going into a procedural vote on his appointment to the federal judiciary Wednesday, with four Republican senators coming into focus as swing votes, Sens. Lisa Murkowski (R-AL), Susan Collins (R-ME), Marco Rubio (R-FL), and Scott. But when time to vote came Wednesday afternoon, all except Scott had announced their support of Farr.

Scott was evasive about which way he would vote before the Senate convened Wednesday. The vote lingered at 49-50 before Scott voted “yes” to end cloture, bringing the vote to a tie that was broken by Pence. As vice president, Pence is also president of the Senate and appointed tie-breaker of the chamber.

Pence would not have been able to break the tie without Scott’s “yes” vote because of Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.), who has vowed to vote against any Trump judicial nominees until Congress passes legislation to protect Robert Mueller’s investigation into collusion from interference.

Scott was considered a swing vote because he had previously doomed another Trump judicial nominee, Ryan Bounds. Bounds’ path to the circuit court was foreclosed earlier this year after Scott initially voted to end debate, only to oppose his nomination over critical remarks Bounds had made about diversity.

Sen. Scott dooms nomination
A similar scenario played out for Farr’s nomination on Thursday, as Scott swiveled to oppose Farr’s nomination in response to a Justice Department memo dating from George H.W. Bush’s presidency that linked Farr with alleged voter suppression in North Carolina in a 1984 campaign.

“This week, a Department of Justice memo written under President George H.W. Bush was released that shed new light on Mr. Farr’s activities. This, in turn, created more concerns. Weighing these important factors, this afternoon I concluded that I could not support Mr. Farr’s nomination,” Scott, the only black Republican senator, said in a statement.

Farr has been accused of helping implement racist voter fraud tactics while working on North Carolina Republican Sen. Jesse Helms’ campaign in 1984, allegedly distributed 120,000 postcards to black voters discouraging them from voting. Farr also worked on Helms’ 1990 campaign.

Scott was praised by Democrats for the “no” vote but only after sustaining criticism for his previous “yes” vote, including from Washington Post blogger Jennifer Rubin who called him a “fraud on civil rights.”

Controversial nominee
Democrats came out full force in opposition to Farr, with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) calling Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s (R-KY) nomination of Farr an “absolute disgrace.” The nominee is also a fierce advocate of voter ID laws, which are widely criticized as discriminatory by the left. Farr was grilled over the alleged 1984 voter suppression by Democrats including Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA).

“I was not aware that the cards had been sent until they had been sent and the manager of the Helms Committee received a letter about the cards from the Voting Rights Section of the United States Department of Justice. The manager of the Helms Committee then called me for legal advice,” he said in written responses to the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Should confirming federal judges be a top priority of the Trump administration?
Yes
No
Next
Schumer’s griping with McConnell shows that the Democrats are having a rough time adjusting to rules changes implemented by their own party, when former Democrat Majority Leader Harry Reid in 2013 lowered the number of votes needed to end a filibuster on lower court judicial appointees from 60 to a simple majority.

President Trump and McConnell have led a successful push to pack the courts with conservative judges since Trump became president, adding two Supreme Court justices and a bevy of federal judges. Republicans managed to hold on to the Senate in midterm elections, so the president’s party still has considerable sway over judicial appointments.

But in times of such divisive nominations, without all hands on deck, holding a majority may be good for nothing.

Secret Service pays Tom Arnold a visit after threatening tweets
November 27, 2018 by Ben Marquis

Comedic actor and Trump critic Tom Arnold — also known as Roseanne Barr’s ex-husband — recently received a visit from U.S. Secret Service agents. The actor had challenged the president to a fight and suggested that Trump would lose his life — and head — in such an altercation in social media postings.

Leftist media outlet Mother Jones obtained video of the reportedly hour-long meeting held between Arnold and the agents on Oct. 25, which was captured on Arnold’s home security cameras. The meeting was intended to determine if Arnold himself posed a threat to the president, as well as to serve as a warning that his inflammatory postings on social media could incite his fans to also pose a threat to the president.

Threat of physical violence
Arnold’s concerning social media posts had come in response to Trump’s joking reference to a 2017 incident in which Republican Rep. Greg Gianforte body-slammed a mouthy liberal reporter — an incident for which Gianforte has since apologized.

“Greg is smart,” Trump said at an October rally in Montana, adding, “By the way, never wrestle him. Any guy that can do a body slam… he’s my guy.”

Arnold was incensed by Trump’s reference of physicality against a reporter, and posted to Twitter, “I say put up or shut up @realDonaldTrump Me vs You. For America. First body slam wins. Any Rally. Any Time. Between now & the midterms.”

He followed that tweet with another, which has since been deleted, that referenced comedian Kathy Griffin’s atrocious “Trump beheading” photo shoot stunt, and wrote, “Next time Kathy won’t be holding his fake head!”

Inflammatory postings can be influential
To his credit, Arnold appeared courteous and respectful to the Secret Service agents who visited his home — though that obsequiousness may have stemmed from the reality that it’s much easier to be a blowhard on Twitter than when government agents are sitting in your living room.

The agents ultimately made it clear that they understood Arnold’s remarks didn’t pose a serious physical threat to the president himself.

However, they also cautioned him to consider the impact his threatening rhetoric and suggestions could have on others.

“But what we have to worry about is your type of audience and you say something inciting those that follow you,” they said. “You might be, might be using it in a comedian-type sense, or whatever, you know, being very comical about it. But there’s a lot of people out there who may really follow Tom Arnold. ‘He said this, and that’s the exact thing I needed that. I need to go get this and go ahead to the next rally, yeah, and carry this out.’ But you might have meant it in something like a playful jest.”

PUTIN DENIED: Trump Cancels G-20 Meeting with Putin Over Ukraine Crisis
posted by Hannity Staff - 4 hours ago
The White House abruptly canceled a high-stakes meeting between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump Thursday; citing increased tension between Russia and the Ukraine after seizing multiple Ukrainian warships earlier this week.
“Based on the fact that the ships and sailors have not been returned to Ukraine from Russia, I have decided it would be best for all parties concerned to cancel my previously scheduled meeting in Argentina with President Vladimir Putin,” tweeted Trump Thursday.

Trump gives order to allow defense of US southern border with rubber bullets, tear gas

Trump gives order to allow defense of US southern border with rubber bullets, tear gas
Thousands of undocumented immigrants are crashing our borders, and President Donald Trump is not standing for it.

With the onslaught of immigrants trying to cross into the United States, authorities have been authorized to use rubber bullets and tear gas to fend off the border crashers.

Overrunning the Border
Pictures taken of the border over the weekend were more than a little disturbing.

Fences were being cut, climbed, and knocked down so immigrants could get across the border.

Once the integrity of the border security gave way, border security had no choice but to use tear gas and rubber bullets to fend off the wave of immigrants.

It got so bad that at one point, Homeland Security Director Kirstjen Nielsen issued a formal warning that anyone endangering border agents would be handled appropriately.

She also informed the media that these measures were being put in place because border jumpers were throwing projectiles at our border agents.

Nielsen warned the caravan members: “We will not tolerate this lawlessness.”

Things had gotten so bad that even Mexico said it was going to deport 500 migrants who “violently” and “illegally” tried to cross the border.

Legal Avenues Halted
The problem also caused the temporary halt of people entering the country legally.

There were miles of cars at the U.S.-Mexico border forced to wait while authorities dealt with caravan migrants.

In fact, authorities were forced to shut down all traffic from a highway along the border in San Diego.

“It is critical that U.S. and Mexican federal leaders together to safely resolve the migrant crisis,” the mayor of San Diego, Kevin Faulconer, said.

He added: “Our way of life relies on a safe, secure, and functioning border.”

Still, liberals continue to push the narrative we need to allow every one of these individuals into our country — but our border laws are in place for a reason.

Asylum is not granted merely because of poverty. If we allowed that, our country would be overridden.

Do You Agree With Measures Being Taken to Stop the Caravan?
Yes
No
Next
Every sitting president in recent history has stressed the importance of the integrity of our borders.

Trump is no different, but for some reason, Democrats have decided that this is no longer important.

What gives?

Mexico should deport migrants trying to enter the US back to their home nations, Donald Trump has said, adding that many members of the so-called caravan were criminals and that the US would permanently seal its border if needed.
“Mexico should move the flag waving Migrants, many of whom are stone cold criminals, back to their countries. Do it by plane, do it by bus, do it anyway you want, but they are NOT coming into the U.S.A. We will close the Border permanently if need be. Congress, fund the WALL!" the US president tweeted on Monday.

Mexico announced that it will deport some of the 500 migrants involved in an altercation on the US-Mexico border on Sunday, in which US border guards used tear gas against a group that tried to force its way across the border.

Over 7,000 migrants from Central America are seeking asylum in the US, with 5,000 currently being housed in a converted sports stadium in Mexico while they wait to apply for refugee status.
The fate of the migrant caravan has become a heated political debate in the United States, with Trump and his supporters claiming that secure borders take priority over accepting asylum seekers. The migrants have also received a mixed reception from their current hosts in Mexico. While some Mexican officials suggested that the influx of immigrants could help boost the economy, the mayor of the border city of Tijuana said their presence had created a “humanitarian crisis” and accused the government of not providing adequate resources to address the issue

Report: British Intelligence “Desperate” for Trump Not to Declassify FISA Docs
by Team Bongino
November 23, 2018
TwitterFacebookEmailLinkedInRedditPrintShare
British Intelligence officials are desperate to convince the Trump White House to not declassify the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) wiretap application which allowed the FBI to spy on former Trump campaign volunteer Carter Page, according to the Telegraph.
U.S. and Australian officials are also against the declassification, with the British intelligence chiefs saying it would expose sources and methods.
The Telegraph reports:
British spy chiefs have “genuine concern” about sources being exposed if classified parts of the wiretap request were made public, according to figures familiar with discussions.
“It boils down to the exposure of people”, said one US intelligence official, adding: “We don’t want to reveal sources and methods.” US intelligence shares the concerns of the UK.
Another said Britain feared setting a dangerous “precedent” which could make people less likely to share information, knowing that it could one day become public.
In September, 12 House Republicans called on President Trump to declassify the FISA renewal application for Carter Page, in which–they claim–the FBI and DOJ withheld exculpatory evidence from the secret court.
**LISTEN: Dan gets to the truth about why the Brits don’t want the U.S. to declassify the documents**
Congressman Lee Zeldin (R-NY) said at the time, “Powers were abused, the FISA court was misled, and we have zero tolerance for any of it. The government has a responsibility not only to provide its best evidence in support of its application but also the best evidence it has against its case. In this case, the DOJ failed to do so.”
Over the weekend, Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) called on the Department of Justice to declassify more FBI and DOJ emails relating to the FISA court, telling Fox News, “For months we have been reviewing emails between FBI, and DOJ, and others that clearly show that they knew about information that should have been presented to the FISA court,” he said. “So it is real evidence that people within the FBI withheld evidence from the FISA court.”
Nunes said that even House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) requested that the DOJ to release the emails.

Chief Justice John Roberts criticizes President Trump

After President Donald Trump criticized the circuit court judge who blocked his proclamation on asylum seekers — calling him an “Obama Judge” — Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts fired back in a rare outburst.

“We do not have Obama judges or Trump judges, Bush judges or Clinton judges. What we have is an extraordinary group of dedicated judges doing their level best to do equal right to those appearing before them,” Justice Roberts stated.

Roberts further stated that we all should celebrate the fact we have an “independent judiciary.”

Never one to back down, Trump responded on Twitter: “Sorry Chief Justice John Roberts, but you do indeed have ‘Obama judges,’ and they have a much different point of view than the people who are charged with the safety of our country.”

“It would be great if the 9th Circuit was indeed an ‘independent judiciary,’ but if it is why are so many opposing view (on Border and Safety) cases filed there, and why are a vast number of those cases overturned,” Trump continued.

Trump’s Comments
The president’s original comments that spurred this rebuke revolved around the 9th Circuit Court, which has constantly issued judgments against the Trump administration.

While discussing the blocking of his asylum proclamation, Trump stated, “Every case that gets filed in the 9th Circuit, we get beaten.”

“And then we end up having to go to the Supreme Court, like the travel ban, and we won,” he added.

Trump further stated, “This was an Obama judge. And I’ll tell you what, it’s not going to happen like this anymore.”

Chief Justice Roberts
Justice Roberts was appointed by Bush, so it really is no surprise he has some anti-Trump in him.

Sadly, Roberts is 100 percent wrong about judges not affiliating themselves with liberal or conservative views, though.

If he were correct, why is there so much pressure on every president to appoint a liberal or conservative to the bench?

We can look ever further to Trump’s point.

Every time a case comes before what we would consider to be a liberal judge, Trump loses.

When the cases come up before a conservative judge, he wins.

That is not a judiciary that is acting independently.

Do You Think Our Judiciary is 'Independent' as Roberts Claims?
Yes
No
Next
While we respect Justice Roberts as a Supreme Court Justice, his opinion here could not be further from the truth.
As usual, though, a Trump truth bomb hits a little too close to home for someone that is not exactly a Trump fan and it resulted in the president getting criticized for no good reason.

Fox’s Shepard Smith: Trump ‘insulted’ memory of Jamal Khashoggi by prioritizing alliance with Saudi Arabia
November 21, 2018 by Ben Baird
https://www.patriotnewsalerts.com/shepard-smith-trump-insulted/?utm_source=dc&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=dc-1
U.S. President Donald Trump doesn’t want the Oct. 2 murder of Washington Post columnist and Saudi dissident Jamal Khashoggi to compromise America’s diplomatic relationship with Saudi Arabia. Serving as a counterbalance to Iranian regional hegemony, a long-term security partner and a stabilizing force for international oil prices, the Gulf monarchy has remained one of America’s closest allies in the tumultuous Middle East.

But Fox News anchor Shepard Smith is ready to throw the region into disorder and cancel a decades-old alliance over the Istanbul murder of a vindictive Muslim Brotherhood reporter and Islamist agitator. Responding to Trump’s announced intention to maintain a “steadfast” alliance with the Saudi government, Smith accused the president of ignoring intelligence reports and said he “insulted” Khashoggi’s memory.

“President Trump stands with Saudi Arabia,” Smith said on his afternoon news program. “Today, the president insulted the murder victim and sided with the Saudis, who said our CIA is wrong.”

Alliance imperiled
Like much of the mainstream news media, Smith suggested that Trump was defying U.S. intelligence and whitewashing Khashoggi’s murder by refusing to outright blame Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who is often referred to by the acronym MBS. Critics of the Trump administration may have trouble separating their emotional contempt for the president and considering the full geopolitical implications of an end to the U.S.-Saudi partnership.

“It’s a complex issue, it’s a shame, but it is what it is,” Trump said. “It is America first to me, it is all about America first. I’m not going to destroy the world economy and I’m not going to destroy the economy for our country by being foolish with Saudi Arabia,” Trump declared.

In his statement issued earlier Tuesday, Trump said: “Representatives of Saudi Arabia say that Jamal Khashoggi was an ‘enemy of the state’ and a member of the Muslim Brotherhood, but my decision is in no way based on that – this is an unacceptable and horrible crime.

“King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman vigorously deny any knowledge of the planning or execution of the murder of Mr. Khashoggi,” the statement went on. “Our intelligence agencies continue to assess all information, but it could very well be that the Crown Prince had knowledge of this tragic event – maybe he did and maybe he didn’t!”

Mystery report
Although the CIA report has not been shared with any members of the media, journalists have been quick to suggest that this analysis clearly identifies MBS as the mastermind behind Khashoggi’s murder at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul. Trump told reporters that the intelligence agency’s findings contain “nothing definitive,” and he insisted that he was waiting on the results of a “full report.”

“They haven’t accessed anything yet — it’s too early,” Trump said. “That was a very premature report. But that’s possible. We’re gonna see.”

Of course, reliably anti-Trump media networks like ABC News responded by citing anonymous sources from the State Department familiar with the CIA report who said it was “blindingly obvious” that the crown prince was involved. Washington Post Publisher and CEO Fred Ryan called the president’s statement “a betrayal of long-established American values of respect for human rights and the expectation of trust and honesty in our strategic relationships.”

However, Trump is simply advocating that his fellow Americans wait for all of the facts to emerge before rendering judgments that could have substantial geopolitical consequences. Yet, after the media’s rush to judgment during the Brett Kavanaugh confirmation hearings, it is not surprising that many on the left have already made up their minds.

Geopolitical gamble
While Trump may be unwilling to fracture the Persian Gulf alliance over Khashoggi’s death, Smith noted that other U.S. lawmakers may work towards that end independently. Trump “may not have the last say,” Smith said — and one of Trump’s greatest Senate allies in recent months has voiced the same opinion.

“I firmly believe there will be strong bipartisan support for serious sanctions against Saudi Arabia, including appropriate members of the royal family, for this barbaric act which defied all civilized norms,” said South Carolina Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham. “While Saudi Arabia is a strategic ally, the behavior of the Crown Prince – in multiple ways – has shown disrespect for the relationship and made him, in my view, beyond toxic.”

Was Shepard Smith's criticism of President Trump misplaced?
Yes
No
Next
Graham went on: “I fully realize we have to deal with bad actors and imperfect situations on the international stage. However, when we lose our moral voice, we lose our strongest asset.”

“We’re waiting for the full report from the CIA,” Smith said, wrapping up his coverage of the controversy. In the meantime, Smith, like many on both the left and the right, is prepared to punish the crown prince and sacrifice regional stability.

President Trump affirms ‘steadfast partnership’ with Saudi Arabia in wake of controversy over death of journalist Jamal Khashoggi
November 21, 2018
https://www.conservativeinstitute.org/conservative-news/trump-partnership-saudi-arabia.htm?utm_source=boomtrain&utm_medium=automated&utm_campaign=ci3&utm_source=boomtrain&utm_medium=automated&utm_campaign=ci3
President Donald Trump vowed to remain allies with Saudi Arabia on Tuesday amid criticism over his response to the killing of Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi.

In a statement from the White House, Trump reaffirmed America’s “steadfast partnership” with the Saudis, describing America’s economic and military alliance with the Arab kingdom as critical to America’s national security and economic interest.

Confirms “steadfast” partnership
Trump has been criticized for not punishing the Saudis enough over the reporter’s early October murder in the Saudi consulate in Turkey. The president said that U.S. intelligence is still piecing the murder case together and noted that his administration sanctioned 17 Saudis allegedly involved last week.

But he fell short of linking the killing to the Arab state’s leadership, despite the fact the CIA reportedly concluded that the crown prince ordered the killing.

“The crime against Jamal Khashoggi was a terrible one, and one that our country does not condone,” the president said. “Indeed, we have taken strong action against those already known to have participated in the murder. After great independent research, we now know many details of this horrible crime. We have already sanctioned 17 Saudis known to have been involved in the murder of Mr. Khashoggi and the disposal of his body.”

He added: “King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman vigorously deny any knowledge of the planning or execution of the murder of Mr. Khashoggi. Our intelligence agencies continue to assess all information.”

The Saudi government is seeking the death penalty for five of 21 people in custody in connection with the killing. The president said that Khashoggi’s murder would not alter America’s long-standing “steadfast” partnership with the Saudi kingdom, which he described as an asset in the fight against Iran and terror groups its supports.

“We may never know all of the facts surrounding the murder of Mr. Khashoggi. In any case, our relationship is with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. They have been a great ally in our very important fight against Iran. The United States intends to remain a steadfast partner of Saudi Arabia to ensure the interests of our country, Israel and all other partners in the region,” Trump added, noting that his priority is  “to fully eliminate the threat of terrorism throughout the world.”

Partnership is “America First”
Trump went on to say that Iran supports terrorists like Hezbollah as well as Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad, but noted that the Saudis have pledged billions of dollars toward fighting radical Islamic terror. Saudi Arabia has also been accused of instigating violence in Yemen in the country’s civil war, but Trump blamed Iran for the “bloody proxy war” and noted that Saudi Arabia “would gladly withdraw from Yemen if the Iranians would agree to leave.”

Trump also said that America’s alliance with Saudi Arabia is in the United States’ economic interest, noting that the kingdom “agreed to spend and invest $450 billion in the United States” that would “create hundreds of thousands of jobs, tremendous economic development, and much additional wealth for the United States.” He added that the U.S. will keep multi-billion dollar weapons contracts with the kingdom because China and Russia would take the business instead.

“If we foolishly cancel these contracts, Russia and China would be the enormous beneficiaries,” the president said. Trump acknowledged that his decision to defend the Saudis would draw opposition from some lawmakers “who, or political or other reasons, would like to go in a different direction” and welcomed “whatever ideas are presented to me” as long as they fall in line with national security.

Still, condemnation came swiftly from Republicans like Sens. Lindsey Graham (SC) and Rand Paul (KY), Democrats like Sen. Dianne Feinstein (CA), and much of the media. The New York Times even published an article mocking the statement’s frequent use of exclamation points.

Do you agree with President Trump regarding the the partnership between the U.S. and Saudi Arabia?
Yes
No
Next
But Trump believes it is his duty to “ensure that, in a very dangerous world, America is pursuing its national interests and vigorously contesting countries that wish to do us harm.

“Very simply,” he concluded, “it is called America First!”

Report: Decision on Jim Acosta’s press pass will make it easier for Trump to kick reporters out of pressers

If CNN and their chief White House correspondent Jim Acosta think they won their battle against President Donald Trump, they’d better check the fine print.

While Acosta was given back his press credentials, the ruling by Judge Timothy Kelly will actually make it far easier for the White House to revoke the credentials of misbehaving journalists.

The Incident
As has been well-publicized and documented, the White House revoked the hard pass of Acosta after he refused to give up the microphone during a press conference.

Not only did he refuse to give up the microphone, but he also put his hands on a female intern.

CNN took the White House to court and the administration was forced to give Acosta back his pass.

However, the presiding judge, U.S. District Court Judge Timothy Kelly, laid out the groundwork for exactly how reporters can be booted from White House pressers.

The Ruling
Kelly said the actions by the White House were not allowed because Costa did not receive due process, which he defined as “procedures whereby an applicant is given notice of the evidence upon which the Secret Service proposed to base its denial, [and] the journalist is afforded an opportunity to rebut or explain this evidence, and the Secret Service issues a final written decision specifying the reasons for its refusal to grant a press pass.”

The judge specifically noted the White House did not formally notify Acosta of the action, nor did they allow him to respond or issue a formal, written decision on the matter.

Kelly suggested that the administration put together a formal set of rules for reporters to follow during press conferences, then stick to them.

In this case, had the White House had a rule in place specifically forbidding aggressive contact with interns or a specific procedure for when the intern approaches for the microphone, they would have been well within their rights to take his press pass.

The administration took the judge’s suggestion to heart and has already published a formal set of rules for reporters during press conferences, including:

A journalist called upon to ask a question will ask a single question and then will yield the floor to other journalists;
At the discretion of the president or other White House official taking questions, a follow-up question or questions may be permitted; and where a follow up has been allowed and asked, the questioner will then yield the floor;
“Yielding the floor” includes, when applicable, physically surrendering the microphone to White House staff for use by the next questioner;
Failure to abide by any of rules (1) – (3) may result in suspension or revocation of the journalist’s hard pass.
Prior to this lawsuit, the White House relied on reporters acting professionally, courteously, and reasonable.

What Do You Think of the Press Conference Rules?
Love Them
Hate Them
Next
Acosta and some of his counterparts have made it very clear that type of behavior is no longer the norm when sitting in front of the president, so now they will have to live with these rules.

But it may not be very long before we see another reporter booted and these new rules challenged in a court of law.

Report: Trump wants to prosecute Hillary Clinton and James Comey

President Donald Trump tried to deliver on another campaign promise, but it appears his counsel blocked his move.

Newswires are burning up this week with reports that Trump told his counsel last year that he wanted both former FBI Director James Comey and former secretary of State Hillary Clinton prosecuted.

Ammo for impeachment
Several publications ran the story this week that Trump asked his counsel to demand the Justice Department to investigate both Clinton and Comey.

But Don McGahn, who was serving as the president’s lead attorney at the time, told Trump he did not have that authority.

McGahn also reportedly had White House attorneys prepare a memo stating such.

One of the main reasons McGahn was arguing against this course of action was that he believed it could lead to the appearance of an abuse of power.

In essence, they would be giving Democrats and anti-Trump Republicans the ammo they needed to impeach him.

Lock her up
One of the focal points Trump wanted to be investigated regarding Hillary Clinton was her family’s organization, the Clinton Foundation.

From the outside looking in, the foundation very much looks like a front for pay-to-play.

The amount of donors that were able to get sit-downs either with Hillary Clinton or her friend Barack Obama is staggering, so it is hard to believe there was not some type of quid pro quo going on here.

Unethical FBI director?
Trump was also looking at the former FBI director for how he handled the Hillary Clinton email investigation, and for good reason.

As the investigation concluded, it became known that Comey had started to draft his letter letting Hillary off the hook months before the investigation was concluded.

We have also learned that several of the people involved in the investigation were Hillary loyalists.

It very much appeared as though a decision was made far in advance that nothing was going to come of this investigation.

For now, both parties have seemingly gotten away their “crimes” and may never be brought to justice.

Do You Think Comey and Clinton Need to be Investigated?
Yes
No
Next
As such, it has become painfully clear individuals like Clinton and Comey are above the law.

President Trump apparently tried to change that, but the system even prevented the president of the United States from doing the right thing. What a shame.

The death toll from the worst-ever California wildfires has increased to 76, while the list of those unaccounted-for continues to grow and has jumped to 1,276, even as authorities located hundreds of previously missing persons.
The remains of five more people were discovered on Saturday in northern California as firefighters continue to battle the wildfire that has been raging for over a week and is so far only 55 percent contained.

Paradise Lost: Drone footage shows scale of devastation left by California fires
It will take years to rebuild Paradise - the town of 27-thousand, if people decide that is what should be done, said Brock Long, administrator of the Federal Emergency Management Agency. The town in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains looks like a wasteland.

The new figures were announced just as President Donald Trump arrived in California to personally inspect the scale of destruction from the Camp Fire and the Woolsey Fire just outside of Los Angeles.

Pledging to allocate federal resources to help Californians recover from the most deadly wildfire in their state's history, Trump remarked: “This is very sad to see, but we’re all going to work together."

While the list of casualties and missing persons continues to rise, Butte County officials expressed the hope that there might be ID duplication, or that many of those unaccounted for are alive but simply unaware that they had been reported missing. But even though authorities managed to locate over 700 people previously believed missing, with hundreds of new reports the toll has grown to 1,276.

Bill O’Reilly: Fox’s support of CNN lawsuit against Trump reveals that the network ‘has gone to the dogs’
November 16, 2018
https://www.conservativeinstitute.org/pop-culture/tv/oreilly-trump-reveals-network.htm
aa440 / CCL
Bill O’Reilly blasted Fox News over its support of CNN in its lawsuit against President Donald Trump, saying the conservative network has “gone to the dogs” and wants to be part of the liberal media “club.”

The former Fox News giant told Adriana Cohen of the Herald Radio show on Thursday that the network he helped make into the king of conservative media has changed, and not for the better.

“Fox News is not what it was three years ago,” he said. “It’s different people running the operation.”

O’Reilly: Fox has changed
O’Reilly was referring to at least one of two events this month that showed a growing distance between Fox and its conservative viewership. The most recent: Fox’s decision this week to file an amicus brief in support of CNN in its lawsuit against President Trump.

The news came one week after Trump tussled at the White House with CNN reporter Jim Acosta, who had his press pass revoked. O’Reilly took Trump’s side in the matter and rebuked his former employer for giving up on the president.

“The Acosta thing isn’t about freedom of the press, it’s about how you behave as a reporter. It was obvious to anyone that Jim Acosta was not trying to get information to the viewers of CNN he was trying to provoke confrontation,” said O’Reilly, who left Fox in the wake of a sexual harassment lawsuit.

O’Reilly called CNN’s lawsuit a “PR stunt” and said that the network had no First Amendment argument because they can still send any other reporter to the White House.

“If CNN wants [Acosta] to be a commentator give him a prime-time show. They could use the ratings help,” O’Reilly said. “But he’s a reporter and reporters are not supposed to bait the president of the United States and not supposed to insult him, which is what Acosta does.”

CNN seemed to win their suit on Friday, when a federal judge ruled that the White House must return Acosta’s “hard pass” because they failed to provide him due process. U.S. District Judge Timothy J. Kelly said of his decision on Friday: “Indeed, whatever process occurred within the government is still so shrouded in mystery that the government could not tell me at oral argument who made the initial decision to revoke Mr. Acosta’s press pass.”

Betraying audience?
Fox may have come to the support of its rival in an attempt to save face after suffering a PR scandal of its own this month. The Acosta spat came after Fox rebuked Sean Hannity and Jeanine Pirro, two of the network’s major opinion hosts, for appearing with Trump at a rally one day before the midterms.

The angry reaction from Fox hints at a gulf between its flagship opinion pundits, who are supportive of Trump on their shows, and the network’s news anchors and executive leadership. The same group that rebuked Hannity and Pirro is likely behind Fox’s amicus brief, so CNN may not be the only network looking to pull a “PR stunt.”

Taken together, the two events look like a one-two punch to Trump and Fox’s loyal conservative base. Accordingly, O’Reilly said that Fox is no longer a network of “mavericks” or “outsiders,” and that they’re eager to be friends with the liberal media “club.”

Are you a regular Fox News viewer?
Yes
No
Next
“They don’t want to be attacked anymore by the New York Times, the Washington Post, or by CNN,” he said. “They want to be part of the club.”

Fox has loyal viewers for a reason: they are the only real counter-weight in cable news to the liberal media. If they become liberal themselves, they’ll lose their audience — so they may want to take O’Reilly’s words of warning to heart.

A group of topless left-wing protesters charged President Donald Trump’s motorcade in France on Sunday.

Trump was in Paris to commemorate Armistice Day with world leaders on the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I when three nude women ran toward his vehicle as it made its way through Paris toward the Arc de Triomphe.

The women were detained by French police.

Topless protester charges Trump’s motorcade in France
Trump’s motorcade was heading down the Champs-Élysées toward the Arc de Triomphe when protesters from the feminist group Femen ran toward the procession. Amused onlookers standing on the side of the street with umbrellas out could be heard laughing at the strange incident as rain drizzled onto the streets of Paris.

One woman leaped over a barricade and came within meters of the motorcade before being arrested by French police, Reuters reported. She had the words “Fake peacemaker” written across her chest.

At least two other women made it past security barriers before being arrested. Radical feminist group Femen, which is based in Paris, claimed responsibility for the incident.

The disruption momentarily stopped the motorcade before it continued toward the Arc de Triomphe. The group claimed that three of its protesters attacked Trump’s motorcade twice in a blog post.

“FEMEN denounces a ceremony that should have been a commemoration of the heroism of WWI French soldiers as well as all WWI victims,” the post reads. “Trump, Putin, Erdogan, Bin Salman and Macron transformed November 11 into a funny performance that is only entertaining for those participating criminals.”

Leftist group claims reponsibility
The group is known for nude protests against right-wing politics and leaders including Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, although it is unusual for a protester to get this close to the president of the United States. Femen has also been behind protests against Islam.

“Our Mission is Protest! Our Weapon are bare breasts [sic],” the group’s site says.

Activists from Femen were also arrested in Paris on Saturday outside the Arc De Triomphe as they protested “war criminals” who came to the city. Three protesters with the phrase “Fake peacemakers, real dictators” written on their chests carried signs that read “Welcome war criminals” as world leaders from 70 countries assembled in Paris to pay respects to soldiers who perished in one of the deadliest conflicts in history.

Are left-wing protests growing increasingly bizarre?
Yes
No
Next
But criticism of Trump wasn’t limited to the grassroots. French president Emmanuel Macron rebuked Trump in a speech at the Arc de Triomphe on Sunday, during which he said that nationalism and patriotism were polar opposites and warned that the rise of nationalism in countries across the West could plunge the world into another conflict like World War I.

The remarks were seen as a pointed criticism of Trump, who proudly embraced the “nationalist” label recently and has shaken up the world order with controversial “America First” politics that have brought him in opposition to the European Union, the United Nations, and NATO.

President Donald Trump announced the official list of the Presidential Medal of Freedom winners on Saturday.

Among the top recipients are Elvis Presley and the late Justice Antonin Scalia.

Presidential Medal of Freedom
Along with the Congressional Gold Medal, the Presidential Medal of Freedom is the highest civilian award in the U.S.

The award was first established by former President John F. Kennedy in 1963.

It was meant to take the place of the Medal of Freedom, which had been established in 1945 and was last awarded in 1961.

It is awarded for “an especially meritorious contribution to the security or national interests of the United States, world peace, cultural or other significant public or private endeavors.”

While it is an award issued by the U.S., it is not limited to just U.S. citizens as recipients.

And, while also a civilian award, military personnel are eligible.

The Recipients
This year’s list has some very notable names in sports, politics, and entertainment, including Justice Antonin Scalia, Babe Ruth, Elvis Presley, Roger Staubach, Alan Page, and Sen. Orrin Hatch.

Miriam Adelson also made the cut.

While not well-known, in the White House press release, Adelson was characterized as a “committed doctor, philanthropist, and humanitarian.”

She also established the Adelson Medical Research Foundation, which  “supports research to prevent, reduce, or eliminate disabling and life-threatening illness.”

Do you think these recipients deserve the Presidential Medal of Freedom?
Yes
No
Next
This award was well-deserved by all recipients.

Trump definitely picked correctly.

‘I think I have the solution’: President Trump to work on bipartisan compromise on abortion
November 8, 2018 by Jerry McCormick
https://www.patriotnewsalerts.com/trump-work-on-abortion/?utm_medium=ci&utm_source=push&utm_campaign=pna
Abortion has been and remains to be a polarizing issue in this country — but Trump believes he may have a compromise both Republicans and Democrats can get behind.

“There is a solution,” the president said. “I think I have that solution, and nobody else does. We are going to be working on that.”

Polarizing Issue
There is a firm line in the sand between conservatives and liberals when it comes to abortion.

Conservatives believe every life is worth saving, even the life of an unborn fetus — regardless of the circumstances.

Liberals, however, fight tooth and nail for the right to kill unborn children under any circumstance.

They say no court, no man, no judge, nobody — period — should be able to tell a woman what she can or cannot do with her body.

This issue is such a hot potato, in fact, that it was central to the fight against Brett Kavanaugh during his Supreme Court confirmation process.

There are even some conspiracy theorists that believe the allegations made against him were backed by pro-abortion groups and big money liberals.

The theory goes that these people came out against Kavanaugh because they believe he will try to overturn Roe v. Wade, even though Kavanaugh repeatedly said he would respect precedent and leave it be.

Trump’s Record on Abortion
Trump has been openly pro-life for years.

According to Bob Woodward’s book Fear, Trump proclaimed he was pro-life in 2010, and always has been while discussing a potential run for president.

Anti-abortion groups have even applauded Trump for his efforts against legalized abortion, including asking Congress to cut funding for abortion groups such as Planned Parenthood.

Do You Think Trump Has the “Abortion Solution”?
Yes
No
Next
Trump has also called for the suspension of funding from worldwide organizations if they support abortion.

It will be very interesting to see how Trump balances the polarizing views of conservatives and liberals to come up with a compromise on this one.

Hollywood producer Jason Blum booed off stage after attacking President Trump
November 7, 2018 by Jerry McCormick

Knowing the support President Donald Trump has provided to the Jewish community — what was Jason Blum thinking?

While accepting an award during the 32nd Israel Film Festival, the Hollywood producer went on an anti-Trump rant that caused him to be not only booed, but actually pulled off the stage by event organizers.

False Narrative
After being awarded the IFF Achievement in Film and Television Award, Blum immediately started to lash out at Trump.

“The good thing about this country is that you get to like Trump but I don’t have to and I don’t like him,” Blum stated.

The words had no sooner started to come out of his mouth when crowd members started to lay into him with chants like “we like Donald,” and “get off the stage.”

But when Blum blamed Trump for an alleged increase in anti-Semitism in our country, organizers had heard enough.

As Blum continued to speak, an organizer rushed on stage to pull him off, and even called for further security.

Since he was taken off the stage early, Blum decided to publish his entire speech on Twitter.

He claimed things that are happening here in the states are not happening elsewhere (never mind that many other parts of the world have it way worse than we do in America).

He also said that it is up to people in his industry to inform citizens.

Stoking Hatred
At the end of the day, Blum is guilty of the same things the media and Democrat politicians are guilty of.

He is spreading a narrative that is simply not true.

The elected leader of Israel considers Trump a close friend and ally, yet Blum says Trump is anti-Semitic.

Were You Glad to See Blum Taken Off Stage?
Yes
No
Next
Trump has done everything in his power to rebuild the relationship with the Jewish community that was so strained under Barack Obama.

Thankfully, attendees at the IFF recognized this and gave Blum the exact reception he deserved during his ridiculous rant.

Ken Starr claims Trump is not even ‘close’ to having committed an impeachable offense
November 5, 2018 by Jerry McCormick
https://www.patriotnewsalerts.com/starr-trump-impeachable-offense/?utm_medium=ci&utm_source=push&utm_campaign=pna
Evan El-Amin / Shutterstock.com
Democrats have said that if they are able to gain a majority, they will impeach President Donald Trump.

But Ken Starr, the independent counsel who investigated Bill Clinton, says the president has not even come close to doing anything that would warrant an impeachment.

Fantasy Land
The Democrats have run their nationwide campaigns on the premise that they have a tangible agenda set for average Americans — which has apparently become somewhat of a threefold plan.

First, they want to impeach Trump.

Second, they want to open America’s borders.

Third, they want to repeal the GOP’s recently passed tax reform.

But just how do any of those platform points help the average American?

(Hint: they don’t.)

No Real Offenses
At the top of the Dems’ list is the impeachment of Trump.

But the fact they are still using this as a talking point proves how delusional the party really is.

If anyone, Ken Starr would know if Trump was impeachable — and he says it is not even close.

“You can hate the way he tweets,” Starr said, “you can disagree with his policies…but be very careful before you move the country toward impeachment.”

Dems should tread lightly — but they haven’t shown any signs of slowing down their campaign to get Trump out of the White House.

Do You Agree with Starr?
Yes
No
Next
The fact that a true outsider was able to come onto their turf, run an out-of-the-box campaign, spend far less than anyone else, and then have such a convincing win was a slap right in Democrats’ faces — and they’re not happy about it.

But, as Starr stated, that is simply not enough of a reason to impeach him.

Sorry, Dems.

Abbas: There will be no Palestinian state in – or without – Gaza
Jordan's king nixes peace treaty annexes as payback against Trump, Netanyahu
Donald Trump, President of the United States of Hate?
He may not be charismatic, he may have failed to bring about the establishment of a Palestinian state, he may be neck deep in internal intrigue instead of dealing with the big picture. But in the last two years Mahmoud Abbas has earned his place in the front line of leaders whose names will be engraved in history. A leader of a small, battered entity, with no borders, no money, no economy, no army, no connections, no oil, no high tech, no exotic Persian-Gulf aura did what none of the great powers’ leaders dared do: stand up to Donald Trump’s bullying without blinking.

Since Trump was elected president of the United States, various countries’ leaders have been drafting strategies to deal with the White House’s changing whims. Emmanuel Macron chose flattery, which did him no good, and went on to ignoring Trump. Justin Trudeau flexed his muscles for a moment, but ultimately signed a trade deal. Mexico’s Enrique Peña Nieto simply gave in and left the cleaning up work to his successor. Angela Merkel and Theresa May are waiting for the storm to blow over. Kim Jong Un gave Trump the photo-ops he wanted plus love letters, and is apparently continuing to develop nuclear weapons.

Perhaps because of Abbas’ background in the PLO, and his various wanderings in the world, he realized what leaders of other, polite, civilized states didn’t. As one who hasn’t lived for 50 years in grand palaces, but wandered from country to country, he knows the rules of the street: When extorted, don’t cooperate. Because complying with extortion isn’t the end – it’s only the beginning. When you’re facing a bully, don’t fold. Maybe you’ll get hit, but you may also be standing at the end of the fight.

The Trump administration has stopped at nothing in the last six months to bend Abbas. The administration closed down the Palestinian Authority’s offices in Washington, deported the Palestinian representative to the U.S. and his family, cutback aid to the PA, including funds for hospitals serving Palestinians in East Jerusalem, slashed UNRWA’s budget, and threatened to close a deal with Israel behind the Palestinians’ back.

The great Trump is sitting in Washington exploding because little Abu Mazen doesn’t give a damn. The administration is applying pressure via Saudi Arabia, Egypt and the Gulf states. All the perks and treats our leaders wait for their whole lives have been taken from Abbas – the trips to Washington, the glittering visits, the receptions, the press conferences. If only he says “yes” to the Trump administration’s demands, he will receive royal treatment like the Saudi royal family: He will get arms deals and be forgiven for murdering journalists.
But Abbas isn’t giving in. I don’t know if in the long term his strategy is right. Sometimes it’s better to do as Kim Jong Un did with Trump, or as Netanyahu did with Obama – play the game and pass the time without giving up anything until circumstances change. But Abbas did the most moral thing: He showed the limp, feeble, weak world leaders an alternative leadership.

If Theresa May had learned from Abbas, the world would have been in a better place. Today we don’t appreciate it. But history will remember who sucked up and who stood up, who bowed and scraped and who remained upright, who was photographed and who turned his back, and who had the courage to stand up to the tyrannical megalomaniac, the 45th president of the United States.

Donald Trump says he would be ‘very happy’ if Hillary ran against him
October 31, 2018 by Jerry McCormick

Hillary Clinton set the political world on its ear earlier this month when she hinted that she may have one presidential run left in her.

When word of that got back to President Donald Trump, the sitting president offered a wide smile, saying: “I like her too. I’d be very happy with Hillary.”

No Real Challenge
As far as Trump is concerned, the Democrats are offering nothing special to the American people in 2020.

The fact of the matter is: their agenda has not changed since the 2016 presidential election.

If anything, Democrats have doubled down on their “issues” while only adding one additional platform item: the impeachment of President Trump.

If they keep sending the same message up through the next presidential election, there is little reason for anyone to expect a different result.

Top Contenders
There have been a lot of names thrown around as possible candidates, but there are really only a select few that can be taken seriously. One is Michael Bloomberg.

The former mayor of New York City and businessman has made no secret he wants Trump out of office.

While he does have some political experience, he possesses a very similar background to Trump, which makes it unlikely the party as a whole will be able to get behind him — especially considering how much they attacked Trump over that exact background during the last election.

Alternatively, former Vice President Joe Biden’s name has been thrown around.

But some say Biden would have been the better choice in 2016 — not so much in 2020. “Creepy” Joe has some considerable skeletons in his closet and having him as the preferred candidate would limit what Democrats could attack Trump on.

And of course, Hillary Clinton herself has thrown her name back into the game.

The two-time presidential loser is once again on the pundits’ shortlists for future presidential candidates, but it is tough to imagine Hillary actually running again.

As bad as she was demoralized after the last loss, one more might put her over the edge.

Some of the other possibilities include Sen. Cory Booker, Sen. Elizabeth Warren, and Stormy Daniels’ lawyer Michael Avenatti.

Do You Think Hillary Will Run Again?
Yes
No
Next
Still, Trump seems very confident that regardless of whom the Democrats throw at him, he will make mincemeat out of them.

“I don’t see anybody I wouldn’t enjoy running against,” Trump said.

US deploys 5,200 troops to border in response to migrant caravans
October 30, 2018

US deploys 5,200 troops to border in response to migrant caravans

More than 5,200 troops are headed to the southern border to stop three caravans of Central American migrants which are traveling north toward the U.S., the Pentagon said Monday.
https://www.conservativeinstitute.org/national-sovereignty/border-security/trump-deployment-military-border.htm?

The deployment comes after President Donald Trump repeatedly threatened to send the military down to seal the border as the first caravan made its way through Central America and into Mexico over the last couple weeks.

The 5,200 troops will join more than 2,000 National Guard forces already sent to the border in April to block a similar caravan.

Trump sends troops to border
The deployment of more than 5,000 is larger than an initial estimate of 800 troops approved by the Pentagon last week. General Terrence O’Shaughnessy, head of U.S. Northern Command said at a news conference in Washington Monday that 800 troops were on their way to Texas to “harden the border” and that the full deployment would reach the border by the end of the week. Most troops are on active-duty and will carry weapons, but the military is prohibited by the Posse Comitatus Act from enforcing the law in a domestic police role.

“We’ll reinforce along priority points of entry so as to enhance [Border Patrol]’s ability to harden and secure the border,” O’Shaughnessy said.

The mission, called Operation Faithful Patriot, will stiffen border security in Texas, California, and Arizona with support troops, not combat troops, that will include engineering teams with “heavy equipment,” helicopters, and medical personnel. Troops will assist Customs and Border Protection (CBP) with building barbed-wire barriers, transporting CBP personnel along the border in helicopters, and other support roles.

Trump has continued to bring attention to the caravan heading into the midterm elections despite the violent events dominating the news cycle this week, including a pipe bomb threat that targeted Democrats and a mass shooting that killed 11 at a synagogue in Pittsburgh. Trump again targeted the caravan in a tweet on Monday, the same day the Wall Street Journal reported the deployment of more than 5,000.

“To those in the Caravan, turnaround, we are not letting people into the United States illegally. Go back to your Country and if you want, apply for citizenship like millions of others are doing!” he tweeted Monday.

Critics slam “unnecessary” move
The president’s critics have said that he is over-reacting to a harmless group of migrants to stir up his base in the days before the midterms. The caravan’s defenders refuse to call it an invasion, arguing that the deployment is unnecessary because the migrants are peaceful refugees seeking legal asylum and still have about 1,000 miles to go, a distance that could take weeks to cover.

The claim that the migrants are seeking only legal asylum is belied by the fact that thousands have already rejected offers of asylum from Mexico. This makes sense given what migrants have told reporters — that their actual destination is the United States — and their clear determination to reach America, legally or otherwise, as they have forced their way across national borders in Central America and Mexico, sometimes clashing violently with police.

A migrant belonging to a second caravan of about 600 migrants was killed Sunday amidst a violent stand-off with Guatemalan authorities along the Guatemala-Mexico border. A third caravan of roughly 300 left El Salvador on Sunday as the first caravan, estimated to be about 4,000 strong, continued on its northward march through Mexico.
Do you support Trump's plan to secure the border?
Yes
No
Trump doubled down on his hard-line rhetoric in an interview Monday with Fox’s Laura Ingraham, saying that the migrants in the caravans are “wasting their time” and that asylum seekers would be housed in tents while being processed, rather than being released. “We’re going to have tents, they’re going to be very nice and they’re going to wait and if they don’t get asylum, they get out,” he said.
Trump has often complained about “catch and release” policy that facilitates illegal immigration by letting migrants go while their cases are pending in immigration court. “When they are captured, we don’t let them out,” Trump told Ingraham. “We’re not letting them out … We’re not catching, we’re not releasing … We’re not letting them into this country.”

President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump love hosting events for children at the White House — and Halloween is no different.

The Trumps created a Halloween oasis for children to meet the president, first lady, and most importantly, grab a handful of candy on Sunday.

Take a look at some photos of the fun event:

The Big Event
Both the president and first lady stood on the South Lawn at the White House for about three hours on Sunday to meet and greet the children.

The display, designed no doubt by the first lady herself, was incredible.

In the background, the U.S. Air Force Band played Halloween-themed tunes as the children made their way to the front of the line to collect their Halloween bounty.

The children were treated to official White House Hershey bars and Twizzlers.

In addition to the president and first lady, several governmental departments are getting involved in the festivities, including NASA with a moon carpet and the Department of Education with a Lego robotics display.

A Reminder
The events at the White House were a nice reminder of what this country can be when everyone remembers we are all united Americans.

It was a nice break from recent deadly tragedies that have swept the nation.

What Did You Think of the Halloween Decorations at the White House?
Nailed it!
It was okay
Hated it!

It was also nice to see a mix of first responder costumes mixed in with the usual Halloween costumes.

All in all, it’s great to see the president and first lady interacting so positively with the nation’s children.

Trump’s approval ratings continue to climb ahead of midterms
October 28, 2018 by Jerry McCormick
https://www.patriotnewsalerts.com/trumps-approval-ratings-climb/?utm_medium=ci&utm_source=push&utm_campaign=pna
Democrats and liberals have been doing everything they can to turn recent headlines against the president.

All the while, though, President Donald Trump’s poll numbers are going up, putting a damper on Democrat hopes of sweeping the midterm elections.

Obama Vs. Trump
Pundits cannot help but compare the sitting president to his predecessor — nor can they help compare periods of one presidency to history.

Based on history, everyone assumed Republicans would get wiped out in November’s midterm elections.

Previous presidencies have suffered some of their worst approval ratings in the first country-wide election after taking office.

It makes sense, considering that most of them make promises they don’t keep, making voters fed up after two years.

That is exactly what happened to President Barack Obama, as his approval ratings were barely over 40 percent when his first mid-presidency midterm elections came calling.

Trump, however, has delivered on his promises — so much so, in fact, that his approval rating is flirting with 50 percent, an unheard of number for the first two years of a presidency.

Elections Looming
With the elections less than two weeks away, the media has been hoping to turn recent events against the president to taint the elections and tilt them in the favor of Democrats.

That is not happening, though.

Instead, Americans are getting sick and tired of the twisting of the facts to suit a specific narrative — and they are rallying behind Trump.

The media has continued to raise the interests of disenfranchised voters who normally would have sat on the sidelines during a midterm election.

And those voters are going to be coming out for Trump.

Why is all of this so important?
With Obama’s approval numbers being so low in 2010, Democrats got crushed in his first midterm election — which wasn’t a huge surprise, considering that the same pattern has happened historically for decades.

Do you think Republicans will maintain a majority in Congress following November's midterms?
Yes
No
Based not only on Trump’s current polling numbers, but also on the fact that they are steadily climbing, it appears that Republicans have a very good chance of fighting off a Democrat wave in November.

If they are successful, it would mean two more productive years for the Trump administration and in all likelihood, a second term for President Trump.

The New York Times published a fictional story Tuesday that fantasized about President Trump’s assassination at the hands of the Secret Service and a Russian operative — one day before the nation was gripped by news of apparent mail bombs sent to prominent Democratic figures.
In an article published in the New York Times‘ Book Review, five writers conjured up fantasy scenarios about President Trump’s future with the Russia investigation.
One writer, Zoe Sharp (pictured), took liberal fantasizing to the next level and wrote a story that ends with President Trump being assassinated by a Russian agent. The Times’ editors illustrate the piece, titled “How It Ends,” with a Russian flag sticking out of a pistol barrel.

Flake: Trump Must Denounce ‘Lock Her Up’ Chants at His Rallies
24 Oct 20183,334
Wednesday on MSNBC’s “Live,” Sen. Jeff Flake (R-AZ) said President Donald Trump must tone down his anti-press rhetoric after explosive devices were sent to several political and media offices.
Flake said, “His words just a few moments ago were great He said what he should have said that we’ve got to tone it down and be more civil. We’ll see in the next rally. If there are ‘Lock her up’ chants that he doesn’t say, ‘Hey that’s inappropriate. Don’t do that,’ or if he talks about a journalist that’s been beat up and that’s okay, that’s wrong.

President Donald Trump reacted Wednesday to the news that multiple explosive devices were mailed to prominent Democrats across the country as well as CNN studios in New York City.
“In these times, we have to unify, we have to come together, and send one very clear strong unmistakable message that acts and threats of political violence of any kind have no place in the United States of America,” Trump said.
The president commented on the attempted bombings during a bill signing event highlighting the administration’s efforts to curtail the opioid epidemic in the United States.
Trump’s statement earned hearty applause from lawmakers from both parties present at the White House for the ceremony.
“This egregious conduct is abhorrent to everything we hold dear as Americans,” Trump continued.
He vowed a full government response to the attacks and vowed to bring those responsible to justice.
“We are extremely angry, upset, unhappy about what we witnessed this morning and we will get to the bottom of it,” he added.
First Lady Melania Trump first took the podium at the White House event to condemn the attacks.
