What Is Discouragement

I haven't learned as yet if we are able to just quote a small portion rather than the whole of someones post.

Only last night I was speaking with someone who is classed as Depressed, experiencing what is termed here as discouragement and I wholeheartedly agree it is without courage!

De facto is a Latin expression that means "concerning the fact"
therefore Depression the act of pression the act of pressing the fact.

Who is the one who come to steal and destroy and give this painful experience depression or distortion which discourages! The one who press us down so we feel we can't get up SATAN our adversary and the accuser of the bretheren, but also the one who would also inflict those outside of the help Jesus affords us.
When I read your post my thoughts immediately jumped to the scripture where Paul exhorts us to be content... and this was in a nutshell, my reply to the person I was speaking with last night. The person could not understand how I could be content in my circumstances and not depressed. I was asked: If you could have your life over to fulfil your career dream etc., I gave an illustration of how I imagined my life would be had I not married had children with an abusive alcoholic.
I would have fulfillied my dream, become the highflyer Personal Secretary which I was, to a Managing Director of a Company who had his own areoplane, I would have flown over the world with him attended parties, socialised but went to my lush appartment alone or with a person I had met at that party only to return to the same routine, but there would have been a void, how do I know that, from experience which I had to bring forward for my reply to the person.......God in his infinite wisdom had given me opportunity in time past to be a pop singer, have the parties, etc., before I married and had children. Read my Testimony! The one evening I had freedom from the drudgery Set to go step back into time past drink with friends have fun, what happened the following morning, Did I want that anymore, No! Did I sing a pop song while pushing round the cleaner? No!
God was knocking at my heart and brought the song I learned as a little girl of about 5yrs old "I will make you fishers of men if you follow me"
I ended this explanation, with I have learned to be content in all things. I have put God first in my life who have given me the inermost healing and contentment that only he can give us but we have to respond to his ability doing our part.

Phillipians 4:11 Not that I speak from want, for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am.
12 I know how to get along with humble means, and I also know how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need.
13 I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.

Discouragement—What Is It?

Because we consider certain emotions and behaviors harmless, we don't pay much attention to them. In fact, we regard some attitudes as so "normal" that we just assume everyone feels them from time to time. Yet, if we look beneath the surface, we'll discover hidden danger and realize the situation is different from the way it appears. One good example is discouragement.

A lot of people view discouragement and disappointment as the same thing, but this is a misconception. Disappointment is an emotional response to a failed expectation, whereas discouragement is the spoiled fruit that results from unresolved disappointment.

Since we cannot experience perfect success every single time we try something, there's no way to avoid all disappointments in life. However, we can avoid discouragement; it is a choice that we make when we decide whether or not we will allow our times of disappointment to destroy our confidence.
