Quotes There are two genealogy lines of Jesus found in the New Testament. Matthew 1:1-16 speaks of the line of Joseph, Jesus' legal father. Matthew shows Jesus' lineage goes straight back from Joseph to King David. The other genealogy line found in the New Testament is found in Luke 3:23-38. Luke writes of the lineage of Jesus through Mary, Jesus' mother. There are two traditions we need to mention. First, the "seed" is passed through the father. Thus the lineage of the father is followed to establish what tribe a Semite/Hebrew comes from. The second "tradition" is that the Jews establish someone as being Jewish by having a mother who is Jewish. In this study, both of these traditions add to the understanding of the seeming differences in Matthew and Luke. Luke concentrates his Gospel unlike the other Gospels on bringing the message of salvation to Gentiles and includes the lineage of Mary as a way to show Gentiles that Jesus' line goes all the way back to King David through David's older son Nathan and thus skips the curse... Matthew concentrates his lineage on proving that Jesus is a direct descendant of King David as the Jews expect the Messiah to descend from. Nitzevet, Mother of David

8. | A short while after this coronation feast, David was instructed by his father to visit Eliav at the battlefield. A war with the Philistines was imminent, and Eliav lashed out in anger at David. This tendency to anger disqualified Eliav now from the throne. (This event occurred after David was anointed as king. However, according to the commentaries, it is possible that they didn’t understand the implications of the anointing, assuming that Samuel had designated David as a new student in his school of prophecy. Though this was an honor, and an act that would validate David’s lineage, only once David actually became king over the entire nation did his brothers realize his true greatness.) Whether a person is biologically born as a Jewish person is based on the mother. Their Tribal designation within the Nation of Israel is based on the dad. There is information shown in this discussion that shows the genealogy of Jesus from Matthew and Luke. It clearly shows that the Mother of Jesus, Mary, was a Jewish woman from the Tribe of Israel which means that Jesus was biologically born as a Jewish man from the Tribe of Judah. This information also shows that the legal dad of Jesus was also from the Tribe of Judah. That means that Jesus was born as a Jewish man from the Tribe of Judah. Both of the genealogies show that Jesus has the right to rule over the Israel of God - God's family - Romans - throne King David. His legal dad, Joseph, gives Jesus the legal right to the throne of Israel. His biologically birth through Mary gives Jesus the biologically right to Israel's Throne of King David. |
