Gadhafi urges holy war on Switzerland
TRIPOLI, Libya (UPI) -- Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi called for a holy war against Switzerland, increasing tensions between the two nations.

Gadhafi called for the jihad during remarks at an event commemorating the birth of the Prophet Mohammed, the BBC reported Friday.
Gadhafi has been critical of a recent Swiss vote against construction of minarets, urging Muslims to boycott the country. Tensions between Libya and Switzerland have been strained since 2008, when Gaddafi's son, Hannibal, and his daughter-in-law were arrested in Geneva on accusations of assaulting two members of their household staff. The charges later were dropped.
"Let us wage jihad against Switzerland, Zionism and foreign aggression," Gadhafi said. "Any Muslim in any part of the world who works with Switzerland is an apostate, is against Mohammed, God and the Koran."
In November, Swiss voters approved a constitutional ban on the building of minarets.
After Gadhafi's son and daughter-in-law were arrested, Libya canceled oil supply contracts with Switzerland, withdrew billions of dollars from Swiss banks, denied visas to Swiss citizens and recalled some of its diplomats.
