good enough for God
Ezra 6:10 “That they may offer sacrifices of sweet savors unto the God of
heaven, and pray for the life of the king, and of his sons.”******
This is a perfect word from the Lord today for the church. What is the
quality of the sacrifices that you are offering up before the Lord today? Do
they offer a sweet aroma unto Him, or are they a stench (foul smelling) to
His nostrils? We can know how He is or is not pleased if we will stick
around long enough to find out.****
Genesis 4:3-5 What was the condition of the offering that Cain brought to
God? Was God pleased? No- He rejected the offering. Now let’s look at the
offering that Abel brought? Was God pleased? Yes. But why was there a
difference?* ***
1- The Bible says that he brought an offering- meaning any old thing, just
what happened to be around. It did not cost him anything.*** *
2- Cain was a tiller of the ground so all he had to do was scoop up some
grain and fruit and there it was. Sounds like some of the offerings that we
bring doesn’t it? Think about our worship- there are days when we come in
with all kinds of thoughts and things running through our mind, or we just
sit there and hardly mouth the words, maybe we are tired. We are offering a
Cain type offering, then we are amazed when God does not speak to us. There
is no sacrifice involved here, we must bring offerings that cost us
something, being there is great but if we are not concentrating or our mind
is elsewhere it is no good to God.****
Now let’s look at Abel. The bible says that God was pleased with his
offering. Do you know why?****
1- Abel did not just sacrifice any animal, but I can imagine that he
brought the best. That is what God expects from us the best we have, there
is no such thing as good enough for God. (John 3:16). Does this sound to you
like God accepts anything less than the best? He gave His best so that you
and I could enjoy being with Him forever.****
I believe that this applies to all things that we do for the Lord. See
church many of us are doing the bare minimum to get by, and I do not believe
that this is pleasing to God. Sacrifice should cost you something.** **
Look at another- Genesis 22:1-11****
We must be prepared to give God our best. He is prepared to meet ALL of your
needs, and to bless you beyond what you may ever think, imagine, or dream
possible. All that He asks is that you be prepared to go that extra mile.
You may have to really dig down deep to get to that place where the Lord is
pleased with your offering, but think of what He is offering you, is it not
worth it? Whether it be sing for the Lord, serve as an usher, serve the
homeless, or minister from a pulpit, you are sowing seeds toward the success
or failure of your work for God.****
When you stand before God on that great and wonderful day, all that you have
offered will be placed at His feet, the question is: will it- burn up as hay
stubble, or will it be part of the crown you offer back to Him?****
Be blessed
