IDF's Response Strategy to Iran
Yoni Gilboa
Elaine
🚨 DAY 193 OF THE WAR 🚨
Dear Elaine,
Multiple sources have announced that the IDF has finalized their strategy for a counter-strike against Iran and its proxies. Although the exact timing of these actions obviously remains confidential, the scope of potential responses is wide-ranging. These could include direct strikes on Iranian nuclear sites, targeted attacks against drone or missile facilities involved in the attacks on Israel, or even operations targeting specific IRGC officials.

Defense Minister Yoav Gallant affirmed our preparedness, stating, "The Iranians failed in their attack, and they will fail to deter Israel. The skies of the Middle East are wide open for the [Israeli] air force. Every enemy that comes after us will be struck wherever they are."

In response to the unprecedented aerial assault last Sunday, with over 500 aerial threats, the ongoing threat level from Iran remains critical. At this decisive moment, the role of Zaka Tel-Aviv in ensuring the safety and readiness of our communities is more important than ever. We need your support. Your contributions empower us to maintain and enhance our emergency response capabilities, ensuring that we are always prepared to protect our community.

DAY 192 OF THE WAR 🚨
Dear Elaine,

Just an update on the situation in Israel. "The event is not over," declared Benny Gantz in a recent discussion concerning the Iranian attack. Gantz outlined plans to form a regional coalition to make Iran "pay the price, in a manner and time that is correct for us."

Meanwhile, the United Nations is convening to discuss the implications of Iran’s missile and drone attacks on Israel. This global forum will play a crucial role in shaping international response and support for our nation.

One thing remains certain amidst these turbulent times: the need for a STRONGER ISRAEL. It is imperative that we bolster our defenses and readiness to face any future challenges. Zaka Tel-Aviv is at the heart of these efforts, providing indispensable emergency services and support to our communities.

DAY 185 OF THE WAR 🚨
office@zakatelaviv.org>

Dear Elaine,

Today, we witnessed a significant escalation in tensions as Hezbollah launched several kamikaze drones into northern Israel, targeting various sites throughout the day. The IDF responded with retaliatory strikes in southern Lebanon. This aggressive act by Hezbollah, coupled with accusations from a Lebanese official that Israel is trying to "lure" Lebanon into war, underscores the complex and volatile nature of the current situation.

Meanwhile, Israel has made another attempt to negotiate a hostage deal, seeking a response from Hamas. Despite recent discussions attended by key stakeholders, no progress has been made, leaving many in a state of uncertainty and concern.

These events underscore the volatile situation Israel finds itself in, facing threats on multiple fronts. In times like these, the role of Zaka Tel-Aviv becomes even more critical. Our volunteers respond to any emergency, providing aid and support to those affected by the conflict. The challenges we face are daunting, but with your support, we can continue to make a difference, offering hope and assistance in the face of adversity.

DAY 181 OF THE WAR 🚨
Dear Elaine,

This morning, the IDF has taken the extraordinary step of halting leave for combat units. This decision, reflective of the serious challenges we face, comes as Aharon Haliva, the head of the IDF's Military Intelligence Directorate, issued a stark warning: "The worst is yet to come." Israel, he noted, is bracing for "complex days" ahead, particularly with the looming threat of strikes by Iran.

This heightened state of alert follows recent escalations, including the alleged Israeli strike in Syria, which resulted in the death of a senior commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), a terrorist group. In response, the Iranian President has ominously spoken of the “heavy price” Israel would pay for the attack.

The possibility of conflict escalation looms large, casting a shadow over the nation and its people. In these trying times, the role of Zaka Tel-Aviv becomes even more critical. Our volunteers respond to any emergency, providing aid and support to those affected by the conflict. Zaka Tel-Aviv
Dear Elaine,

In the latest developments from the front lines, the IDF continues its rigorous operations in Khan Yunis, a focal point in the southern Gaza Strip, targeting terrorist infrastructure with precision. These operations have led to the discovery of significant caches of weapons, including RPG missiles, munitions, and Kalashnikov rifles, and have resulted in the elimination of dozens of terrorists.

Tragically, amidst these efforts to secure peace and safety, we've been reminded of the personal costs of this conflict. The IDF announced that a reserve doctor serving in the Commando formation was seriously wounded in combat. This brave individual was swiftly evacuated to the hospital for urgent medical treatment.

In these turbulent times, the work of Zaka Tel-Aviv is more crucial than ever. Our dedicated volunteers are tirelessly working to provide support and assistance to those impacted by the conflict, offering a beacon of hope amidst the uncertainty.

DAY 174 OF THE WAR 🚨
Dear Elaine,

It's hard to believe we are now almost six months into the war. The conflict has brought unimaginable challenges and heartbreak. Just yesterday, a heavy barrage of 30 rockets fired by Hezbollah from Lebanon into the North tragically resulted in the death of a 25-year-old man in the Golan Heights and left two others wounded.

Meanwhile, more hostages have been coming forward with deeply disturbing accounts of their treatment while in captivity. Testimonials include reports of sexual violence, physical abuse, and inhumane conditions. Currently, 19 women are still held by Hamas, as Israel is fighting to rescue all hostages, and obliterate Hamas.

The overall situation across the region remains fraught with uncertainty, as Israel grapples with threats from both Gaza and Hezbollah in Lebanon, alongside mounting political pressure. In these trying times, the work of Zaka Tel-Aviv has never been more vital. Our volunteers provide essential support and assistance to those affected by the conflict, offering a glimmer of hope amidst the darkness.

DAY 167 OF THE WAR 🚨
Dear Elaine,

In the four-day operation within Gaza City's Shifa Hospital, the IDF has made significant progress, arresting 650 and eliminating 140 terrorists. This operation marks a substantial tactical victory in the ongoing conflict, showcasing the IDF's commitment to dismantling terrorist threats.

However, the situation remains extremely dangerous. Despite these successes, the IDF has identified an additional 50 Hamas fighters within the Shifa Complex, including 20 in significant roles, indicating that the process could extend for several more days. This ongoing resistance underscores the complexity and danger of the mission at hand.

While the IDF has achieved operational control over most of Gaza by early February and significantly reduced rocket fire, translating these tactical wins into strategic victories poses a considerable challenge. The enduring capability of Hamas to regroup and retaliate, along with the absence of a clear governance plan for Gaza post-conflict, threatens to perpetuate a "forever war" scenario. This situation risks strategic losses for the IDF, potentially leading to prolonged conflict, high casualty rates, and the failure to secure a lasting and peaceful resolution.

In these difficult times, the role of Zaka Tel-Aviv is more crucial than ever. Our mission to provide emergency response and support to those affected by the conflict is vital for achieving lasting peace and security. Your support enables us to continue our indispensable work, offering hope and assistance amidst the uncertainty.

Purim is on Saturday night and Sunday. The holiday celebrates the deliverance of the Jewish People in the Persian kingdom from the annihilation planned by Haman, the prime minister of the kingdom. The salvation is spearheaded by Queen Esther and her cousin Mordecai, the leader of the Jews. We aren't facing annihilation today, but we certainly are in great need for some Divine deliverance. So let us all pray for the release of all of the hostages and a swift and decisive victory over Hamas, so that both Israelis and Palestinians can live their lives in peace and security.

DAY 164 OF THE WAR 🚨
Dear Elaine,

In a significant development, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) made the difficult decision to enter Gaza City's Shifa Hospital early Monday morning. This action was taken based on concrete intelligence that senior Hamas officials were using the hospital's premises to plan and execute terror activities. During this operation, a senior Hamas commander was neutralized, but tragically, we also mourn the loss of an Israeli soldier, Staff Sgt. Matan Vinogradov, 20, of Jerusalem. His bravery and sacrifice in the line of duty will not be forgotten.

This raid, involving the IDF’s 401st Armored Brigade among other units, was launched amid reports that Hamas gunmen were operating from within the hospital compound. The IDF has emphasized its efforts to prevent harm to civilians, patients, and medical staff during the operation, despite the complex challenges it faces.

The toll of this war continues to rise, now with over 250 IDF soldiers having fallen since the ground offensive against Hamas began. This stark statistic highlights the devastating impact of the ongoing war and the profound uncertainty ahead of us.

In these difficult times, the role of Zaka Tel-Aviv is more critical than ever. Our volunteers are tirelessly working to provide emergency response and support to those affected by the conflict, ensuring the dignified care of the deceased and offering solace to grieving families. Amidst the chaos and uncertainty, Zaka Tel-Aviv stands as a beacon of hope and humanity.

🚨 DAY 161 OF THE WAR 🚨
In a significant political development, Mahmoud Abbas is poised to appoint his economic adviser, Muhammad Mustafa, as the Prime Minister of the Palestinian Authority (PA). This change in leadership comes at a critical juncture and adds another layer to the complex dynamics of the region.

In more immediate concerns, the IDF has been actively responding to threats from the north, striking Hezbollah infrastructure as a countermeasure to rocket strikes from Lebanon. These incidents underscore the volatile security situation Israel faces, with numerous projectiles identified crossing from Lebanon into Northern Israel.

Amidst these challenges, recent reports indicate that Yahya Sinwar continues to garner substantial support within Gaza. Despite the ongoing conflict, the general sentiment on Arabic language social media in Gaza has been largely positive towards Hamas and Sinwar. This support seems to strengthen, especially when threats against Sinwar are highlighted in the media, suggesting a rallying effect among his supporters.

In these times of unpredictability and heightened tensions, the role of Zaka Tel-Aviv becomes ever more crucial. Our volunteers are on the ground, ready to respond to any emergency, providing aid and support to those affected by the conflict. The need for our services—ranging from emergency response to the dignified care of the deceased—is more pressing than ever.

100 Rockets Targeting North
🚨 DAY 158 OF THE WAR 🚨
Dear Elaine,

In a distressing escalation, northern Israel was subjected to two barrages of rockets this morning, totaling at least 100 rockets. This alarming attack, launched at the Galilee and the Golan Heights, marks a significant uptick in hostilities from Hezbollah, underscoring the volatile situation that continues to unfold.

Israel swiftly responded with several strikes targeting Hezbollah infrastructure in Lebanon. These actions were taken in retaliation to the rocket fire, aiming to neutralize new threats. Among the sites hit were rocket launch posts and military compounds, targeting Hezbollah military command centers associated with weapons storage.

This exchange is a part of an expanding conflict. In these times of crisis, the role of Zaka Tel-Aviv becomes ever more critical. Our volunteers are providing immediate assistance, support to the wounded, and ensuring the dignified care of the deceased. The aftermath of such attacks highlights the volatile situation we navigate and the indispensable service we provide.

Zaka Tel-Aviv
DAY 153 OF THE WAR
Dear Elaine,

The conflict surrounding Israel has taken a concerning turn, with new developments indicating an expansion beyond the ongoing war in Gaza. Last night, the IDF responded to rocket fire from Syria toward the Golan Heights by striking two Syrian Army sites in southern Syria, just 6 miles from the Israeli-Syrian border. This marks a significant escalation in the region, bringing Syria into the fold of the already tense situation.

Meanwhile, this morning, the Israeli Air Force (IAF) launched attacks on Hezbollah military targets in southern Lebanon. This was in addition to strikes on a military structure and an observation post in the Jebbayn area, following cross-border launches into Israeli territory, as tensions with Hezbollah and Lebanon's potential for a full-scale war. This is a terrifying prospect.

DAY 146 OF THE WAR 🚨
Dear Elaine,

Moments ago, a terror attack occurred at a gas station in the yishuv of Eli, resulting in the tragic loss of two Israelis, one aged 17 and the other 31. This violent act, carried out by a terror cell of three, led to the immediate neutralization of one attacker and the subsequent apprehension of the others, who were armed with M-16s.

In a separate but equally alarming development, reports have surfaced that Iran has given Hezbollah the green light to escalate attacks against Israel. This directive, aimed at responding to Israel's military actions towards Rafah in southern Gaza, was discussed in a meeting between IRGC Quds Force commander Esmail Qaani and Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah. It indicates a likely increase in hostilities, adding to the already tense situation.

Amidst these developments, the work of Zaka has never been more essential. Our volunteers are actively providing support in the aftermath of attacks, offering medical assistance to the wounded, and ensuring the dignified care of the deceased. The challenges we face are significant, with the constant threat of terror and the possibility of escalated conflict.

60 Rockets Target Golan
Zaka Tel-Aviv

DAY 143 OF THE WAR 🚨
Dear Elaine,

Earlier today, in a significant escalation, Hezbollah launched a barrage of 60 rockets toward the Golan Heights, marking a departure from its usual focus and retaliating for recent Israeli strikes deep into Lebanon. This attack targeted an IDF base in the Golan, a response to the IDF's operation that neutralized a Hezbollah commander known for orchestrating attacks against both civilian and military targets in Israel's north.

Amidst these tensions, the Israeli military has also confirmed the loss of brave souls in the Gaza Strip. We mourn the loss of Sgt. Oz Daniel, a 19-year-old IDF soldier who tragically died in Gaza captivity, along with Staff-Sgt. Narya Belete, 21, of the Givati reconnaissance unit, and Staff-Sgt. Eli Zrihen, 20, also of the Givati unit, both of whom fell in southern Gaza. Major Eyal Shuminov, a 24-year-old company commander in the Shaked Battalion of the Givati Brigade, was also announced deceased.

These developments underscore the volatile and unpredictable nature of the conflict, highlighting the critical need for Zaka's intervention. Our volunteers are providing immediate medical assistance, support the civilians, and ensuring the dignified care of the fallen. In these moments of crisis, the importance of our mission is ever more apparent.

🚨 DAY 139 OF THE WAR 🚨
Dear Elaine,

In a harrowing incident this morning, a terror attack on Route 1, near the az-Za’ayyem checkpoint between Jerusalem and Maaleh Adumim, resulted in one fatality and at least eight injuries, two of them critical. The attack, targeting Israeli civilians during the morning rush hour, underscores the unpredictable dangers we face and the critical role of immediate response and support.

Three attackers, armed and determined to cause maximum harm, exploited the morning traffic congestion to open fire on vehicles. Security forces, vigilant and quick to act, neutralized the threat at the scene, preventing further tragedy. Among the wounded are a 23-year-old woman and a 30-year-old woman, both seriously injured with chest wounds, and a 23-year-old man with a stomach wound. Two others, in their 40s, sustained moderate injuries, and several individuals are receiving care for shock.

The terrorists, from the Beit Lechem area, were equipped with a range of weapons, indicating a premeditated intent to inflict harm. This attack not only took a precious life but also left a community in mourning and many in critical need of medical support.

In the wake of this tragedy, and all other atrocities Israel is currently facing, Zaka's work is more important than ever, providing first aid, supporting the wounded, and ensuring the respectful care of the deceased. The aftermath of such attacks highlights the volatile situation we navigate and the indispensable service we provide.

Now, more than ever, your support is crucial. It empowers us to maintain our readiness and extend our services to those most in need during these critical moments. As we unite in the face of terror, your generosity ensures our ability to offer swift and effective aid, bringing light to these darkest hours.

NEWS UPDATE
Israeli jets have been carrying out strikes against Hezbollah targets in Lebanon in response to Hezbollah rocket attacks against northern Israel.

An investigative report in a French newspaper claims that Hezbollah has been digging hundreds of kilometers of underground tunnels in Lebanon for over 30 years, some of them reaching depths of 40 meters to 80 meters, using North Korean technology. The report noted that the tunnels are more complex and dangerous than those in Gaza, and the explosion of some of the tunnels could cause earthquakes or landslides. The report claims Israel dropped white phosphorus bombs in southern Lebanon after the Hamas attack on October 7 to burn vegetation and expose the entrances to the tunnels. According to reports, 12 such shafts were discovered and destroyed. For more, click here.

Combat operations continue in Khan Yunis and other areas of Gaza. The IDF says that it has killed around 12,000 Hamas terrorists since the start of the war. That is close to half the number of Palestinians reportedly killed in the war.

IDF soldiers killed in Gaza:

Staff Sgt. Maoz Morell, 22, of the Paratroopers Brigade’s reconnaissance unit, from Talmon.

Staff Sgt. Simon Shlomov, 20, of the Paratroopers Brigade's 202nd Battalion, from Kiryat Bialik.

For a complete list of the soldiers killed in the ground offensive, click here.

A Saudi online publication reported that Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar and his brother Mohammed recently escaped to Egypt through tunnels in the Rafah area, and that they took hostages with them. Israeli officials are denying the report. The report also said that Hamas used 8 large tunnels running from Gaza to Egypt to smuggle weapons and fighters.

According to IDF data, the air force has attacked 29,000 targets in Gaza during this war and over 1,000 in Lebanon. About 26,000 attacks were carried out using fighter jets, 3,800 using helicopter gunships and 3,800 attacks with UAVs. The air force has converted the Patriot missile defense batteries to operate the Iron Dome system.

The U.S. has proposed an alternative draft resolution in the United Nations Security Council calling for a temporary cease-fire and opposing a major Israeli ground offensive in Rafah. A Senior US official said, "We do not plan to rush our text to a vote. We don't believe a rush to a vote is necessary or constructive and intend on allowing time for negotiations." The proposal is intended, among other things, to prevent the members of the Security Council from voting in favor of the Algerian proposal. The U.S. is likely to veto the Algerian proposal, which calls for an immediate cease-fire, ensuring that it does not pass. For more, click here.

Dear Elaine,

The recent surge in violence has brought a new level of instability to our region. Just yesterday, IDF fighter jets responded to Hezbollah's aggression in Lebanese territory after an Israeli soldier's tragic death and the wounding of several others. This came on the heels of rocket attacks that sent multiple soldiers to the hospital and struck an IDF base directly.

Today, the situation worsened with a deadly rocket attack in northern Israel, demonstrating Hezbollah's relentless pursuit to escalate the conflict. Over 2,000 rockets have been launched at Israel, with recent attacks causing injuries to civilians, including a woman and her son.

In these tumultuous times, Zaka's role is more crucial than ever. Our volunteers provide essential support and medical assistance to those affected by the conflict. The challenges are immense, but so is our commitment to our mission.

Your support for Zaka is vital. It empowers us to continue our work, offering hope and assistance in moments of despair. Every donation helps us sustain our efforts and stand ready to respond.

Zaka Tel-Aviv

Dear Elaine,
We were just informed of a distressing report from the front lines. One of the Hamas's brigades have claimed that three of the eight Israeli hostages, who were seriously injured following Israeli airstrikes, have succumbed to their wounds. While the reliability of information from Hamas is often questionable and may serve as psychological warfare, this development, if true, marks a somber moment in the conflict.
Meanwhile, we know that the IDF has successfully rescued two hostages from Rafah yesterday. Unfortunately, many still remain in captivity, and the situation continues to be extremely tense.
In this conflict, the role of Zaka Tel-Aviv has never been more critical. Our volunteers are on the front lines every day, not only responding in the aftermath of attacks but also providing ongoing support and assistance.
In these trying times, your support for Zaka is essential. Your contribution enables us to continue our vital work, offering immediate medical assistance, support, and ensuring the dignity of those affected by these tragic events.

🚨 DAY 123 OF THE WAR 🚨
Dear Elaine,

In recent weeks, Israel has faced an alarming surge in terror and attempted terror attacks, with incidents occurring almost daily. Today, we witnessed yet another harrowing event—an attempted shooting attack targeting IDF soldiers in the Shomron. An armed terrorist approached an IDF post outside Shechem, aiming to open fire. Fortunately, before he could carry out his attack, he was neutralized by an IDF reserve soldier, preventing casualties.

Unfortunately, not all such episodes conclude without tragedy. Just last week, an IDF soldier was seriously wounded in Haifa during a ramming attack by an axe-wielding terrorist. This incident starkly illustrates the unpredictable and volatile nature of the threats we face.

Simultaniously, a terror group from Lebanon, known as the "Galilee Forces," has released a video issuing death threats against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, and Member of Knesset (MK) Zvi Sukkot. Such threats against Israeli leaders underscore the complex challenges confronting our nation.

In light of these developments, the role of Zaka has never been more critical.

DAY 56 OF THE WAR 🚨
Dear Elaine,
Moments ago, we were informed that the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas has just ended. Hamas initiated rocket fire towards southern Israel, abruptly ending the ceasefire that had been in place for a week. The Israeli government has accused Hamas of violating the agreement, which included the release of all female captives today, a commitment that was not fulfilled.
This event has led to renewed fighting in the Gaza Strip. The IDF has responded with airstrikes against Hamas targets following the rocket attacks. Palestinian reports indicate casualties and injuries due to these airstrikes. Efforts to extend the ceasefire and secure the release of additional hostages were unsuccessful. The IDF has stated that Hamas not only broke the ceasefire agreement but also launched rockets into Israeli territory, prompting a return to combat operations.

In light of these developments, the role of Zaka Tel Aviv becomes even more vital. Our volunteers are back on high alert, ready to respond to the needs of those affected by the renewed hostilities. We are committed to providing immediate assistance, support, and preparedness training to ensure the safety and resilience of our communities during this challenging time.

ZAKA Tel Aviv
DAY 55 OF THE WAR 🚨
Dear Elaine,

We are deeply saddened to report a devastating shooting attack in Jerusalem this morning. Three innocent lives were tragically lost, including Rabbi Elimelech Wasserman, a respected rabbinical judge from Ashdod. The attack also left five others wounded. The terrorists, affiliated with Hamas, were neutralized by security forces and a civilian at the scene.

This heartbreaking incident occurred at the Givat Shaul junction near Jerusalem's entrance, where civilians at a bus stop were targeted. The swift response by security forces and a vigilant civilian prevented further casualties. Following the attack, police conducted extensive searches and arrested several family members of the attackers.

This attack comes amidst ongoing efforts to maintain the fragile ceasefire in Gaza. Despite the tension, Israel is preparing for the release of 10 more hostages later today, a critical step in the ongoing negotiations.

In these challenging times, Zaka Tel Aviv's unwavering commitment to responding to terror attacks remains a cornerstone of our mission. For years, we have been at the forefront of providing immediate support and assistance in the aftermath of such attacks. 🚨 DAY 21 OF THE WAR 🚨
Dear Elaine,

Another quick update before the weekend/Shabbat.

Today, Tel Aviv was hit hard with a Hamas rocket barrage from Gaza, causing significant damage to an apartment building and injuring three individuals. The owner of the targeted apartment remarked, "It was a miracle from heaven that the residents were not present."

Israel continues its strikes on Gaza from both air and sea, while clashes have resumed in Lebanon, leading to rockets targeting IDF positions and subsequent Israeli artillery retaliation. This escalation underscores the broadening conflict, with over 5,400 wounded and the IDF reporting 229 captives in Gaza—a number that's rising as identification efforts continue. Concurrently, Ashkelon faces renewed attacks, with casualties reported from a recent rocket strike that hit a construction site and a residential building's ninth floor, prompting immediate search and rescue operations.

In the face of this ongoing war, Zaka Tel-Aviv's role is indispensable. Our dedicated teams are on the ground, delivering medical aid, orchestrating evacuations, and supporting those affected, highlighting our unwavering commitment to the community.
