Your Christian Walk
Do you ever give a second thought to what you are doing? Ever wonder who will be pleased by what you are doing? Is what you are doing a priority? – for whom. Is what you are doing what ‘God’ would have you do, or is it what you wanted to do, or is Satan leading you? Have you talked with God about it
How do we talk with God? This is where everyone says “pray”. Of course, we pray, but in this case, just to say ‘pray’ is only partially correct because we are specifically asking God for guidance for a specific situation or problem. You need and are asking for God’s input. Your prayer is not like asking for the blessing at mealtime, or praying at bedtime. This is having a conversation with God. When you pray, you will be praying with the expectation that God is listening and that He will respond. When you finish your prayer, remain in that spiritual frame of mind, motionless and quiet, with the expectation that God will answer. Concentrate and listen for God’s response. But don’t be totally disappointed if you don’t hear His voice. God may not respond at that time because He wishes to use it as a teaching point. He may want you to make a decision based upon what you have previously learned or know about the situation. He may be giving you an opportunity to not only increase your faith in Him, but your faith in yourself. You know as a Christian that God is always with you.
If you have children, you have the responsibility to teach your children about choices. Little by little under your overview, you give your children authority to make choices, help building them a foundation upon which to make sound decisions later throughout their lives. Inherently, you are teaching them responsibility, that there may be a penalty for poor decision making.
When children and adults become Christians, it’s important that we continue to grow spiritually, become stronger in faith, and gain a closer relationship with God. We can do that by reading His word (the Bible) regularly, listen to Him through the Holy Spirit within you, attend worship services regularly, and attend Sunday School or Bible Study (regularly) if your church has them. Very important, especially for the children and young people, is to be wise in choosing your friends. There is no problem with peer pressure. The problem is with the friends you choose to be your peers.
If you do these things, there’s no doubt you will find it much easier to know whose voice you will hear, recognize and relate to. You will enjoy your Christian walk, God will be pleased and will reward you with the joy that only God can place in your heart!
