On Monday, Great Britain Home Secretary Sajid Javid visited the Western Wall in the Old City of Jerusalem as part of his visit to Israel.

This visit by Britain’s Home Secretary follows 19 years in which no senior minister of the British government has visited Jerusalem or the Western Wall.
The Home Secretary was greeted by the Director of the Western Wall Heritage Foundation, Mr. Mordechai (Suli) Eliav, who told Home Secretary Javid about the history of the site and its importance as a focus of Jewish yearning throughout the generations.

The Home Secretary, who comes from a Muslim family, told that his father believed deeply in the connection between Jews and Muslims, and that his brother visited the Western Wall as a child, and that his father and entire family were very excited about the pictures from here.

The Home Secretary added that one could sense the spiritual power of the site and that he is amazed that the Western Wall is open 24/7 throughout the entire year. He also voiced interest in the pictures of mass events and in the millions of visitors who come to the Western Wall on Jewish holidays.

The Rabbi of the Western Wall and holy sites, Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz, greeted the Minister and recited with him Chapter 121 of Psalms as the Home Secretary placed a note between the stones of the Western Wall.

The Rabbi said to the Home Secretary, “Your visit here is evidence that it is possible for Jews and Muslims to live together in this small place without harming one another.”

The Islamic State is at war with Britain. These are enemy combatants. They should have been stripped of their citizenship as soon as they went to the Islamic State. Would Britain have allowed 400 British Nazis who had gone to Germany to reenter Britain and roam around freely in 1941? But the present-day British government is only interested in keeping out foes of jihad terror, not jihad terrorists.

Britain has by far the highest rate of “exceptionally dangerous” returning jihadis in Europe, police chiefs have warned.

A report from Europol revealed that of hundreds of Britons who travelled to Syria and Iraq amid the rise of Isil, nearly half have been able to return safely.

It comes amid widespread concern at the low number of returning fighters and so-called jihadi brides successfully prosecuted in British courts.

According to the annual Europol report, roughly 45% of Britons who travelled to Syria and Iraq have already come back to their home country.

The country with the next highest proportion was Germany, where 33% have returned, while in the Netherlands and Spain the return rate is thought to be just 18%.

The report warned that returning jihadis and their supporters pose a serious ongoing threat to national security.

“Those that have returned garner kudos with like-minded individuals,” it said.

“Their training and experience – such as handling weapons and explosives – makes them exceptionally dangerous.

“Furthermore, EU Member States’ ongoing concern is that these individuals can perpetuate and strengthen their networks both nationally and internationally.”

Out of around 400 jihadists who have returned to the UK, just 40 have been prosecuted. Most have been placed in rehabilitation schemes instead….

Sadiq Khan has spent his time tweeting against President Trump and insulting him instead of dealing with the constant murders and violence in his city. Muslim gangs are trying to take control of the streets and are murdering, stabbing, and carrying out acid attacks against Afro-Caribbeans. And the criminals are using social media to threaten rival gangs.

Children are being killed. This is a multicultural age, and the press has no idea how to apply pressure. It seems like many world leaders are also clueless. But how can anyone let these types of attacks go on in a Western, civilized country like England? We must be accepting of all people, but not when they are harming our society. And these Muslim gangs are most definitely harming our society.

Will Khan Not Criticize His Own?
Sadiq Khan is a Muslim himself. Does he have trouble criticizing Muslim gangs because he identifies with Muslims? He has no trouble criticizing Trump. And that is definitely not his job.

Wherever the wrong is happening and whichever people are the perpetrators of the violence, the mayor must act. Too many young ones are being lost to such despicable violence. Sadly, it is happening throughout the world, not just in London. But if we cannot tackle the issue, it will just continue to happen. And our world cannot afford that.

Boris Johnson took another big step towards Downing Street by topping the second round of the Tory leadership ballot tonight - and is also set to benefit after Dominic Raab was eliminated.

The former foreign secretary romped home with backing from 126 MPs, way ahead of his competitors. But Mr Raab was humiliatingly evicted with just 30 votes, having added just three over the past week, and his Eurosceptic support is now likely to flow to Mr Johnson.

The good news for Mr Johnson was only tempered by a surge from International Development Secretary Rory Stewart.

Having admitted his campaign was on a knife edge, Mr Stewart streaked past the minimum 33 votes needed, hitting 37 backers. 

Mr Stewart said he had been 'pleasantly surprised' by the result, nearly double his tally of 19 from last week, but insisted he was still the 'underdog'. 
'Many of these MPs didn't tell me they were going to vote for me, so I've been pleasantly surprised,' he told reporters outside the BBC studios.
A spokeswoman for Mr Stewart said it showed he could go 'all the way'.
Home Secretary Sajid Javid sneaked home with 33 and vowed to fight on, but there was immediately speculation he might withdraw.

Jeremy Hunt came second again with 46, but has failed to make much headway since last Tuesday, adding just three votes. Michael Gove also clung on in the race with 41, but again did not make significant progress from the previous 38. 

Mr Johnson's showing in the vote tonight was lower than some had forecast, increasing by just 12 despite a series of high-profile endorsements. There have been claims some One Nation Tories are backing him in public, but voted for Mr Stewart in the secret ballot. 

Mr Stewart's spokeswoman said: 'This is a fantastic result for Rory - almost doubling his vote - with the biggest increase of all the candidates. 

'This shows his momentum is continuing to build. He can now go all the way to the final 2, giving the clear choice that members deserve.'

Justice Secretary David Gauke, a Rory backer, told Sky News: 'Rory will run a positive campaign and make the case of why he should be PM. I think it is really important that we have a proper debate.'   

Meanwhile, Mr Hunt tried to put a brave face on his stalled support, describing it as a 'solid result'. 

'It shows a steady step forward, which is exactly what we were expecting. It confirms that Jeremy is the best placed candidate to take on Boris,' a spokesman said.

Boris Johnson tweeted his thanks to those who helped him top the voting in the second ballot for the Tory leadership. 'Thank you to those who supported me in the second ballot. Very much look forward to taking part in tonight's BBC debate #BackBoris,' he tweeted. 

Mr Stewart spent the afternoon desperately ringing round supporters of his rivals as he scrambled to avoid being ejected from the battle this evening.

Earlier, Mr Stewart joked that he must be 'doing something right' amid claims Mr Johnson was deploying dirty tricks to avoid facing him in the run-off.

The former foreign secretary has been accused of plotting to 'lend' some of his massive support to rival Jeremy Hunt. Allies believe Mr Hunt will be easier to beat in the final vote of Tory members than the International Development Secretary or Environment Secretary Michael Gove.

As he arrived to vote in a Commons committee room this evening, Mr Stewart jibed that he had been trying to woo Mr Johnson's campaign chief Gavin Williamson.
'Apparently he is lending votes so I'm very keen on him to lend me 15 votes to get through,' he told reporters.

He admitted he was 'not confident' that he had the 33 votes needed to avoid automatic eviction from the contest. 

Mr Stewart said: 'I have got to simultaneously write my resignation speech and prepare for the debate at the same time.' 

However, if the tactic was deployed it seems to have failed miserably. 
As tensions rose today, Mr Gove and Home Secretary Mr Javid targeted Mr Stewart as the other half of a pincer movement looking to encircle the surprise second favorite. 
Mr Gove pleaded lead with Tory MPs not to vote for Mr Stewart to get into the final two, saying 'it would be a mistake to put forward two candidates to the final round who will polarise our party,' in an article for the Times.
However, he also held out an olive branch to Mr Stewart by saying he wanted him 'at the heart of my team' in future. If the minister is kicked out of the race his endorsement will be fought over.   
Mr Javid used a radio interview to warn that the leadership run-off does not 'look like a debate at the Oxford Union' - a jab at Mr Johnson and Mr Stewart's privileged backgrounds. 

He also suggested that Mr Stewart was 'effectively telling us we should remain in the EU' - causing the International Development Secretary to retort that he was in favour of a 'moderate and pragmatic Brexit'. 
How the drama unfolded in the battle for the Tory crown - and Downing St 
Tory MPs voted in the second round of the contest to select Britain's next PM between 3pm and 5pm.
The result was announced at 6pm.
The five surviving candidates will not take part in a live TV debate at 8pm on the BBC that will feature the front-runner and former foreign secretary, Boris Johnson. 

By the end of the week, four of the six current riders will be forced out, leaving the final two to go head-to-head for votes from the 160,000 Tory members.
That process should be complete by next month, with the new PM expected to take over from Theresa May in the week of July 22.. 

Supporters of Mr Stewart were also ramping up their rhetoric, with Justice Secretary David Gauke urging people to think how they would 'feel' if he was knocked out tonight.
'A question for my colleagues who: - want the leadership candidates properly tested - believe we should leave the EU with a deal - want a great communicator capable of pulling off a surprise with the membership ... 

'How would you feel if @RoryStewart got 32 votes tonight?'

This morning Cumbria MP Mr Stewart 'liked' a tweet branding the move by Team Boris as 'juvenile and pathetic' and 'no way to choose a prime minister'.
And he added: 'I seem to be doing something right.' 

One senior Tory source told MailOnline the fact it is a secret ballot meant Mr Johnson himself could vote for Mr Hunt and no-one would know.

'Tactical voting was seriously considered on the May campaign in 2016, because she would have been better off facing Michael Gove in the run-off. But it never came to that because Leadsom dropped out,' they said.

'They could well do it. But it has to be kept to the core group or you have to tell too many people. I wouldn't be surprised if Boris himself ended up voting for Hunt.'

However, an MP backing Mr Hunt said Mr Johnson's camp were 'making excuses' in case their vote did not go up significantly. 'It's a load of cobblers,' they said. 

A source on Mr Javid's team said they were not 'detecting any signs' that the numbers were slipping. 

'It feels like we've taken off but we are not sure if we've got enough fuel for the flight. Fortunately it is only a short haul... we will see at 6pm,' he said.

The wrangling came as Brexiteer former Tory leadership candidate Andrea Leadsom became the latest high-profile figure to back Mr Johnson today.

Without naming the International Development Secretary, Mr Gove told the Times:  'It is vital that the Conservative Party puts forward the right person who can stop (Jeremy) Corbyn.

Mr Johnson senior said it was important to minimise 'blue-on-blue' fighting during the campaign.

And in a reference to the fact that both his son and Mr Stewart went to the same elite public school, he added: 'We certainly don't want to see Eton vs Eton.'

'The new leader must have a plan to deliver Brexit; and crucially, the debating ability to win the arguments in parliament and beyond.

At this stage of the leadership contest, it is also vital for Conservative MPs, who are narrowing the field of contenders to two people, to give the party's membership a true choice. 

'As well as having the ability to take on Corbyn, the final two should be candidates who believe in Brexit, who can deliver it and who can unite the party.'  

But Mr Stewart appears to be holding onto his support among Tory members. 

A new poll from Conservative Home today showed he has pulled away in second place in the last week.

But he remains miles behind Mr Johnson, who looks almost certain to win the member vote. 

Mr Javid said he is 'less Homer's Iliad and more Homer Simpson' today as he lashed out at his privileged rivals in the race to become the next prime minister.

The Home Secretary warned that the Tory leadership race risked looking like a debate at the Oxford Union if the final candidates are all from similar backgrounds - unlike Mr Javid who was educated at a comprehensive school.

'I may have been culture secretary but I don't have the oratory of Cicero, it's less Homer's Iliad and more Homer Simpson,' he told the BBC.

Andrea Leadsom backs Boris as Tory rivals vie for second place 
Brexiteer former Tory leadership candidate Andrea Leadsom became the latest high-profile figure to back Boris Johnson today.

The former Commons leader and 2016 leadership runner-up was knocked out in the first round of voting last week with just 11 backers. 

In an interview on LBC radio this morning, she said she was backing the favourite: 'I think he will be a very good leader for our country.' 

'But I try my best to connect and I think it's very important as a modern Conservative Party that we reach out to those modern audiences.

'If we end up in a situation where the final two, three, four even are people from similar backgrounds with similar life experiences and it will look like a debate at the Oxford Union and I just don't think that's healthy for the Tory Party. 

Mr Stewart, meanwhile, said he has 'no problem' being the 'stop Boris' candidate and would 'love' to go against Mr Johnson in the final two.

'I have no problem with that and I would love to go against him in the final two in order to give members the chance to choose whether they want Boris's Brexit or mine,' he told BBC Radio 4's Today programme.

The International Development Secretary also faced questions about his back story, amid reports that he allegedly worked as a spy.

Asked if former spies could, under the law, answer honestly whether they worked for MI6, he said: 'No, and in fact the law wouldn't allow newspapers to reveal the identity of intelligence officers...

'I definitely would say I served my country and if somebody asked me whether I am a spy I would say no.'

Nigel Farage has ruled out an electoral pact with Boris Johnson or any other Tory leader as he hit out at attempts to 'buy me off'.

The Brexit Party leader said he had been approached by Conservative officials about working together to avoid splitting the Brexiteer vote.  

It came as a new poll showed that almost half of Conservative members would be happy for Mr Farage to lead their own party.

Some 46 per cent of members surveyed by YouGov for the Times said that they would be happy if the former Ukip leader joined the party and landed the top job.

The shock numbers show just how divisive Brexit has become in politics, with the Tories languishing in fourth place in the polls.

The Brexit Party is currently in first place ahead of the Liberal Democrats, with Labour third. 

Speaking to the Daily Express, Mr Farage said: 'I've been approached by a couple of people. But why would I trust anybody in the Conservative Party?

'If they really want to leave on October 31, they need to get on with it. All I can see at the moment is a rerun of March 29.

'I can understand why they want to buy me off but the lack of trust means it's not up for grabs.'

The YouGov poll also revealed that 40 per cent of Tory voters would be 'unhappy' if Farage joined and became leader.  

Allies of Mr Johnson had already ruled out a pact, saying yesterday he did not 'need' to do a deal with Mr Farage, despite the rising threat from his new party. 

The arrangement could mean the Brexit Party does not field candidates against Tories they see as committed to making a clean break from the EU. 

Brexit minister James Cleverly said if Mr Johnson became PM he would not need to do a deal with Mr Farage.

He told BBC Radio 4's Today programme: 'I can't see that is something he would want to do and it is not anything he would need to do.

'He is able to win elections with Conservatives and Conservative support. He didn't broach electoral pacts in London and I can't imagine he would need to broach electoral pacts at this point.

Standing shoulder-to-shoulder in London’s Regent’s Park, eight men stand in prayer behind a black flag used by groups including Islamic State.
The men were caught on camera for The Jihadis Next Door, a Channel 4 documentary that was aired in 2016 and which lifted the lid on the scale of Islamic fanaticism in Britain.

The event was organised by Al-Muhajiroun, a group led by the hate preacher Anjem Choudary which had been banned by the Government in 2006.
The prayers were led by Mohammed Shamsuddin, 42, a hate preacher who has claimed benefits for much of his life and who was effectively Choudary’s deputy.

Today, The Mail on Sunday can reveal the identities of all eight men and the lives of hate-filled extremism they went on to lead.

1) Shakil Chapra
A former part-time bus driver who spouts hatred on YouTube using the name Abu Haleema. 

He was stripped of his passport in 2014 over fears he wanted to join IS in Syria and was quizzed by police about his association with a British schoolboy later jailed for life for encouraging a man in Australia to carry out an atrocity.

2) Murat Kocchat

An extremist thought to be of Turkish-Kurdish origin. He has been photographed attending Al-Muhajiroun rallies and was caught on camera in the Channel 4 documentary listening closely to Shamsuddin sermon.

3) Abdul Muquith

Using the name Abu Sayfillaah, Muquith posts lectures on YouTube in which he says Muslims must never mingle or live with non-Muslims. It is understood his face was obscured in the documentary because he was then under police investigation.

4) Khuram Butt

The mastermind of the London Bridge terror attack in June 2017 that left eight people dead. The married father of two was described as a ‘heavyweight’ member of Al-Muhajiroun.

5) Emmanuel Kelly Asamoah

A regular at Al-Muhajiroun rallies, Asamoah was photographed at a 2014 demonstration outside the Indian High Commission in London with extremists including Siddhartha Dhar, who fled to Syria in 2014.

6) Adinan Abdulatif

An extremist from Barking, East London, Abdulatif was involved in credit card fraud with Butt in the months before the London Bridge atrocity. He later pleaded guilty to fraud.

7) Taha Hussain

The 21-year-old from Slough, Berkshire, was jailed for four-and-a-half years in 2017 for making a video outside Windsor Castle in which he pledged to kill non-believers.

8) Ricardo McFarlane

The mastermind of the London Bridge terror cell repeatedly communicated with a 33-year-old man from East London in the hours before the deadly rampage, The Mail on Sunday can reveal.

Irfan Saeed, who lives in a council flat in Newham, was in contact with killer Khuram Butt, 27, by phone and text message in the five hours before the knife-wielding gang of fanatics went on a murder spree that left eight people dead.

Evidence submitted to the inquest into the attack on June 3, 2017, details how Butt called Saeed just after 5pm, shortly after hiring the van that carried him, Rachid Redouane, 30, and Yousef Zaghba, 22, into Central London. Butt also sent a text to Saeed at about the same time.

Saeed texted the terrorist back and then called him unsuccessfully at least six times between 5.10pm and before the rampage began at about 10pm.

Two days after the atrocity – in which the three killers were shot dead by police – Saeed contacted the administrator of a secret WhatsApp group of which both he and Butt were members to request all the content be deleted because ‘police were making arrests’ in Newham.

The WhatsApp group was called ILMA – meaning ‘knowledge’ in Arabic – and was used to share extremist material.

None was charged but a file on Saeed was sent to the Crown Prosecution Service because detectives suspected he knew about the attack before it was launched, yet did nothing to stop it – an offence that carries a sentence of up to five years.

Saeed, who could not be contacted for comment, has denied any wrongdoing. The inquest continues.

The victim, believed to be in his 20s, was found near Willesden Magistrates’ Court in Brent, London, just before 3.30pm on June 11. He was taken to a central London hospital, where his condition is now described as stable. British Typhoon fighter jets were scrambled to intercept two Russian transport aircraft.

The Russian jets were flying close to Estonian airspace, officials revealed.

The fighters were launched from Amari Air Base in Estonia on Monday, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) said.

‘We were scrambled to intercept an Antonov AN-24 Russian military transport aircraft that was flying in international airspace close to Estonia from the south,’ the lead pilot from XI (Fighter) Squadron said.

‘Approximately 10 minutes later, we were retasked to intercept an additional Antonov AN-26 transport aircraft which was following the same routing as the first.

‘Both intercepts were routine and carried out in a safe and professional manner.’

It is the sixth occasion that RAF jets have been scrambled on an intercept mission since taking over from the German Air force on the Nato Baltic Air Policing mission.

‘The UK operates in support of Nato to reassure our allies and is a further demonstration of the UK’s commitment to the security of the region,’ a spokesperson for the MoD said.

 (Picture: SWNS) A nurse has been re-arrested on suspicion of the murders of eight babies at a hospital neo-natal unit. 

Lucy Letby, 28, was initially arrested last July on suspicion of the murder of eight babies and the attempted murder of six other infants as part of a police inquiry into the deaths of 17 babies at the Countess of Chester Hospital.

 It is understood she was re-arrested on Tuesday based on further evidence that has been gathered by Cheshire Police. Ms Letby has also been arrested in connection with the attempted murder of three more babies. Detectives launched an investigation into infant deaths at the hospital in May 2017, initially looking at the deaths of 15 babies between June 2015 and June 2016. It is understood she was re-arrested on

‘She has also been arrested in connection with the attempted murder of three additional babies. ‘The woman is currently in custody helping officers with their enquiries. ‘I would like to reassure people that we are doing everything we can as quickly as we can to identify what has led to these baby deaths and collapses.
 ‘Due to the nature of this investigation it is extremely challenging but it is important to remember that it is very much active and ongoing – there are no set timescales and we remain committed to carrying out a thorough investigation as soon as possible. ‘At this stage, we are unable to go into any further details about the investigation but as soon as we can provide any further updates we will do’.

High grade gold has been found in previously untapped areas of the Welsh mountainside.

Exploration company Alba, which owns the licence rights to 41sq miles of land in Gwynedd - known as the Dolgellau Gold Belt - announced the discovery earlier this week.

The firm added that the anomalies had been uncovered in soil which lies well away from its existing excavation area and the historic Clogau mine in neighbouring Bontddu.

What is more, it was revealed that their findings contain an even better grade of gold than that previously retrieved from either site.

Using new technology, 1,200 soil samples were taken, with nearly three quarters of the results exceeding Alba's expectations.

"Our regional exploration of the Dolgellau Gold Belt continues to bear fruit," says executive chairman George Frangeskides. 

"We have now confirmed mineralisation across around six miles of the gold belt (which stretches from Barmouth, past Dolgellau and up towards Snowdonia ) and we have, in total, identified seven new mineralised zones which are not associated with historic mine workings. 

"The fact that the average grades for those zones exceeds the equivalent grades obtained over the Clogau-St David's mine itself is genuinely exciting."

The company is currently continuing its plans to reopen the Clogau Mine where work stopped in 1998.

It consists of a complex series of openworks, tramways, inclines, and open levels.

Originally opened for extracting copper and lead, the mine developed into production in the 1862 'gold rush' working the St David’s lode of Clogau mountain.      


And it's not without sizeable prestige - the British Royal Family have used Welsh gold to  create their wedding rings since 1923 .

The Queen Mother’s wedding ring, the Queen’s in 1947, Princess Margaret’s in 1960, the Princess Royal’s in 1973 and that of Diana, Princess of Wales in 1981 were all made from the same nugget.

Jeremy Corbyn has made more than £3million from the state in the past 30 years, according to official records.

The Labour leader has made more than £1.5million in salary as an MP and will benefit from a generous £1.6million pension when he retires.

A senior backbench Labour MP said the scale of his earnings was "remarkable" in the wake of Mr Corbyn's criticism of David Cameron over his own tax affairs.

The MP said: "This seems to indicate that we're going back to our bad old ways of criticising people for getting on but its even more remarkable from someone who has done so well himself over many years out of the public sector, paid for by ordinary working peoples' taxes."

Boris Johnson must go to court to face accusations he lied in his repeated claim that the UK sends £350 million a week to the EU. District Judge Margot Coleman ruled the Tory leadership candidate can be summonsed to court to face accusations of misconduct in public office. The case centres round statements made by Mr Johnson during the 2016 Brexit referendum that were displayed on the side of a bus. Businessman Marcus Ball is attempting to bring a private case against the former foreign secretary, claiming he lied to the public over how much membership of the EU costs. 
 Today, the district judge ruled that the case can continue saying: ‘The allegations which have been made are unproven accusations and I do not make any findings of fact. ‘Having considered all the relevant factors I am satisfied that this is a proper case to issue the summons as requested for the three offences as drafted. ‘The charges are indictable only. ‘This means the proposed defendant will be required to attend this court for a preliminary hearing, and the case will then be sent to the Crown Court for trial. ‘The charges can only be dealt with in the Crown Court.’
 Mr Ball’s team are attempting a legal first in prosecuting a sitting MP over ‘lying to the public.’ Misconduct in a public office is a common law offence, which has a maximum of life in prison. Mr Johnson, 54, has employed a top legal team headed by Adrian Darbieshire QC, who once brought the largest-ever private prosecution and now specialises in defending them.
 At court last week, Mr Darbieshire said Mr Johnson ‘absolutely denies’ he acted in an improper or dishonest manner at any point. This story is

Two boys allegedly killed by their own mum have been pictured for the first time. 
Blake, 14, and Tristan Barrass, 13, died after they were taken to hospital following a ‘major’ incident at a house in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, on Friday.
 Their cause of death is not yet known. Police were called to the property in the Shiregreen area at around 7.30am and arrested mum Sarah Barrass along with her brother Brandon Machin, 37, of no fixed abode. 

 The pair have each been charged with murder. Blake Barrass was found dead in the house Tristan died alongside his brother Barrass is also accused of three counts of attempted murder against two other children. The pair appeared at Sheffield Magistrates today dressed in grey prison-issue uniforms for the short 10-minute hearing while flanked by three security officers.

They spoke to confirm their names, ages, addresses and nationalities but did not enter a plea. 
No application was made for bail and the pair were remanded in custody to appear at Sheffield Crown Court tomorrow morning. 
The chair of the bench said: ‘You will be sent to crown court and will appear there tomorrow morning. 
Because of the nature of the offences, bail is not applicable. 
You will be remanded in custody.’ Barrass is also accused of three counts of attempted murder against two other children

 (Picture: Facebook) Up to 15 police cars, two riot vans and four ambulances descended on the home, while the air ambulance landed at a nearby primary school on Friday morning. Dozens of floral tributes were left outside the family’s home that was still sealed off behind police tape on Friday. 
Tearful school children brought flowers, balloons and teddy bears to the scene. An online fundraising drive has been launched to help the surviving children. Gill Furniss, Labour MP for Sheffield Brightside and Hillsborough, said she was ‘deeply saddened by the tragic incident’.

Lawyers for the man who murdered toddler James Bulger were paid £8,100 in legal aid this year, while government lawyers were reportedly paid close to £57,300. The costs came as Venables, now 36, was fighting a legal challenge from James Bulger’s father, Ralph, which aimed to overturn his lifelong anonymity. Ralph, 52, told The Sun he wanted the ban lifted to ‘protect the public’. 

James, two, was killed by Venables and Robert Thompson, both then aged 10, after they snatched him from a shopping centre in Bootle, Merseyside. They were both later granted lifelong anonymity and, following release, have lived under new identities.  judge Sir Andrew McFarlane upheld the injunction, telling Mr Bulger the anonymity order was intended to protect Venables from ‘being put to death’. 
The judge said: ‘(Venables) is “uniquely notorious” and there is a strong possibility, if not a probability, that if his identity were known he would be pursued resulting in grave and possibly fatal consequences. 
‘This is, therefore, a wholly exceptional case and the evidence in 2019 is more than sufficient to sustain the conclusion that there continues to be a real risk of very substantial harm to (Venables).’ 
Anyone who breaches the wide-ranging injunction faces prosecution for contempt of court.

“Christian persecution ‘at near genocide levels,’ was the title of a May 3rd BBC report citing a lengthy interim study ordered by British Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt and led by Rev. Philip Mounstephen, the Bishop of Truro.
According to the BBC report, one in three people around the world suffer from religious persecution, with Christians being “the most persecuted religious group.”
“Religion ‘is at risk of disappearing’ in some parts of the world,” it noted, and “In some regions, the level and nature of persecution is arguably coming close to meeting the international definition of genocide, according to that adopted by the UN.”
British Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt is also quoted on why Western governments have been “asleep” — his word — concerning this growing epidemic:
“I think there is a misplaced worry that it is somehow colonialist to talk about a religion [Christianity] that was associated with colonial powers rather than the countries that we marched into as colonizers. That has perhaps created an awkwardness in talking about this issue—the role of missionaries was always a controversial one and that has, I think, also led some people to shy away from this topic.”

Police officers at a property on Gregg House Road in Shiregreen, Sheffield (Picture: PA) A man and woman have been charged over the deaths of two boys in Sheffield, and will appear in court on Monday. 
The boys, aged 13 and 14, died in what police described as a ‘serious incident’ in the Shiregreen area.
 Four other children needed to be treated in hospital after the incident at a house on Friday.
 Police previously said a man, 37, and a woman, 34, had been arrested on suspicion of murder
. ADVERTISING South Yorkshire Police said today: ‘Two people arrested on Friday May 24 from a house in Shiregreen have now been charged and will appear at Sheffield Magistrates’ Court on Monday May 27.’ 
The force has previously said the four other children who were ‘rescued’ from the house had been released from hospital.

Officers were called to the semi-detached house in Gregg House Road at around 7.30am on Friday. Detectives have given no indication about the nature of the incident, but have confirmed it was not a shooting, and said it was confined to the one property. 
A spokesman said detectives are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident. People living nearby saw more than a dozen police cars and four ambulances arrive on the tree-lined road, and an air ambulance landed in the grounds of the nearby Hartley Brook Primary Academy school.

The Prime Minister will leave the ‘job she loves’ saying it was ‘with deep regret’ that she was unable to deliver Brexit. A mass mutiny by the Conservative party earlier this week made her position untenable. 
She has now set out a timetable for her successor to be chosen, with June 7 the start of the official leadership race. She will stay until her replacement is elected by the Conservative Party. Mrs May spent much of the morning in Downing Street hammering out her future with the head of the 1922 Committee. 
She had been under pressure to resign after a backlash by her own MPs against her latest Brexit plan. Since January, Parliament has rejected the Brexit bill she negotiated with the EU three times. Attempts to find a compromise with the Labour party ended in disaster. On Tuesday, she made a final push with a set of amended proposals, including a customs union and an offer to give MPs a vote on holding another referendum. That was met with a furious backlash by many in the Conservative party, leaving her authority in tatters.
 Mrs May will remain until after the Peterborough by-election and the visit by US President Donald Trump. That would avoid the indignity of her MPs voting on her successor at the same time. 
A new leader is likely to be in place by the end of the summer. Their main job will be to get a Brexit deal through Parliament before October 31 – the date currently set for the UK’s exit from the European Union. 
Mrs May spent Thursday in her Maidenhead constituency as the nation went to the polls to take part in an election she never wanted. On Thursday, European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker said he expected the UK to have to ask for another Brexit extension. He accused UK politicians of prioritising a plot against Mrs May over trying to find an agreement over leaving the bloc. Mrs May’s decision to stand aside comes after senior Cabinet ministers warned they could not support her ‘new’ Brexit deal. Andrea Leadsom quit as Commons leader on Wednesday evening, saying she no longer believed the government’s approach would ‘deliver on the referendum result.’ On Thursday Home Secretary Sajid Javid and Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt met with Mrs May to express their concerns about the bill.
 Mr Hunt told her it was a ‘step too far’ to expect MPs to vote for the ‘watered-down’ proposals. The bill had been due to go before Parliament next week but is now no longer scheduled. 
There has been no official confirmation from Downing Street about Mrs May’s plans to quit. However, the sharks have been circling for weeks and there is the possibility of further moves by Tory MPs to instigate another vote of no confidence if she refuses to go. Boris Johnson is the favourite to take over from Mrs May but his position over Brexit could see him face difficulties forming a Cabinet, unless he softens his stance on a no-deal exit.
 Mr Javid and Mr Hunt are also in contention as is former Brexit Secretary Dominic Raab, Mrs Leadsom, Leave champion Michael Gove and newly-promoted defence chief Penny Mordaunt.

Teens who stabbed schoolboy then filmed him dying on Snapchat jailed for 71 years
A group of teenagers who stabbed a boy to death then filmed as he lay dying on the ground have been jailed for a total of 71 years. Cemeren Yilmaz, 16, was murdered on the street in Bedford last September by three members of a rival gang and their cousin. Jacob Morgan, 15, Ramon Djauna, 15, Caleb Brown, now 16, and Aaron Miller, 20, were sentenced yesterday for the ‘shocking’ and ‘brutal’ murder. The ‘Black Tom’ gang members were named in court for the first time in court as Judge Simon Bryan QC lifted an anonymity order protecting their identity due to the extreme nature of the attack. The judge said the killing came out of ‘a sadly all too common back drop of gang rivalry and associated carrying and use of weapons with tragic consequences and the loss of a young life’. On the day of his murder, Cemeren was chased down before being bludgeoned with a hammer and stabbed, before one of the boys filmed as he bled and posted the footage online. Cemeren died in hospital the following day, having suffered 50 separate injuries and massive internal damage. Cemeren Yilmaz, 15, died in hospital a day after the attack (Picture: sbna) The court heard the stab wound had travelled almost through his body, he had suffered a fractured skull and brain damage and had gone into cardiac arrest twice. During the trial at St Albans Crown Court earlier this year, the jury heard that Cemeren had told his brother just weeks before his death that he expected to be attacked by rival gang members because of the hostility between the two in Bedford. Cemeren had told his brother if he was ‘caught’ by the other gang it would ‘end badly.’ He also said ‘people like this have no mercy’ and had expected to be the victim of a knife attack, the court heard. The judge said the attack on Cameren was launched by the four who considered he had brought shame on them that night. Cemeren was once associated with the Black Tom gang but after a fallout with some of its members switched allegiance to the rival ‘London Road’ gang. There was said to be ‘bad blood’ between the two as a result. At the start of the trial, Prosecutor Stuart Trimmer QC told the court: ‘This is a case some might find grotesque and some might find shocking.’ He told the court that on the evening of Sunday, September 16 last year, Cemeren got a taxi from his home in the village of Harrold, Bedfordshire, and travelled to a housing estate in Bedford. Also in the road that evening was Jacob Morgan who was standing by a damaged motorcycle close to a park area. Mr Trimmer said shortly after 9pm, a CCTV camera in the street captured Cemeren and his group running towards the group by the motorcycle, causing them to flee. Moments later, the court heard, Cemeren was seen again on CCTV running away and clutching a bag. The prosecutor said it was this that may have motivated Morgan and his co-defendants ‘to exact revenge’. Shortly after 10pm that night, Miller – who was then aged 19 – arrived in Ashmead Road having been phoned by Morgan. Cemeren, having made off earlier, was back on the street and, after exchanging punches with Miller, was chased down. When he fell to the ground he was kicked, punched and then stabbed. Cemeren managed to get up and run off but was caught by the other two 15 year olds, Djauna and Brown – who is now 16. They had brought a hammer to the scene and battered Cemeren in the head and face. The jury heard it was then that one of the teenagers, Djauna, started filming using Snapchat. Part of the video was played at the trial and, at one point, the victim was heard saying ‘I am going to die’ followed by the sounds of him groaning. A 999 call from a witness was also played to the jury which had picked up the sound of one of the defendants saying: ‘Oh yo young blood, cut cut, I’ll say no comment all the way.’ The scene of the murder in Ashmead Road, Bedfordshire (Picture: sbna) All four were jailed at St Albans Crown Court Cemeren died in hospital the following day, having suffered massive internal injuries and undergone surgery to remove a kidney. He had suffered a fractured skull and brain damage as well as two cardiac arrests. Miller, from Bedford, was jailed for a minimum of 21 years for his part in the attack. Brown, from Northolt, and Djuana, from Bedford, were both sentenced to a minimum term of 17 years, and Morgan, from Bedford, will serve a minimum of 16 years after being found guilty at St Alban’s Crown Court. The sheer volume of injuries is appalling, but the force with which some of these blows were inflicted is nothing less than savage. ‘This is violence of the worst degree and has no place on the streets of Bedfordshire. ‘Those responsible for this cowardly attack deserve to be spending such a significant time in prison. I hope these sentences go some way to securing justice and closure for Cemeren and his family.’

Hamas praised U.K. Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn for supporting the Palestinian cause.

The terrorist group Hamas issued a statement on Thursday to “salute” British Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn for showing “support and solidarity with the Palestinian people.”

Corbyn has previously called Hamas his “friends.”

Hamas issued the comments in response to Corbyn’s recent statement supporting an anti-Semitic march in London last weekend commemorating the 71st anniversary of the so-called “nakba,” which is the Palestinian day mourning the State of Israel’s declaration of independence in 1948.

Hamas deemed Corbyn’s statement an  “express[ion of] support and solidarity with the Palestinian people and their inalienable rights to freedom, independence and self-determination.”

“[Corbyn’s statement] also condemns the ongoing occupation and its crimes against our people, and reflects an advanced moral and political position worthy of all praise and thanks,” Hamas added.

The Campaign Against Antisemitism condemned the message.

“Only one leader of a British political party could expect to be ‘saluted’ by Hamas, the genocidal anti-Semitic terrorist organization. Clearly, Hamas feels that when it comes to Jews, Jeremy Corbyn is a brother in arms,” said its director, Gideon Falter.

“Who could say that they are wrong after he gave his fulsome backing to this weekend’s chilling anti-Semitic rally, which was so filled with Jew-hatred that both the National Front and the Muslim Brotherhood came along to support?” continued Falter. “Jeremy Corbyn is an anti-Semite and unfit for public office.”
