When the British PM stood up to defend the Jewish people, everyone listened
By Avi Abelow -  September 6, 2018 14956 0
British Prime Minister Theresa May came across stern and strong when she stood up to defend the Jewish people from the growing antisemitism in the Labour party.

Theresa May accuses Jeremy Corbyn of failing to tackle anti-Semitism

Jeremy Corbyn – Anti-Semite
Jeremy Corbyn is the British anti-semite that keeps on giving. With each day more and more troublesome outbursts, events and meetings are exposed.  We now can clearly see his true antisemitic colors. One of the latest antisemitic comments that came to the fore was one he made a few years ago.  Corbyn said that “British Zionists don’t get British irony.”  What Corbyn is essentially implying is that regardless if a British Jew was born in Britain, or lived in Britain for centuries, so long as they are Zionists, they are not really British.  Rather, they are aliens to Britain. This is an extremely severe comment to say about fellow British citizens.  This is especially bothersome due to the fact that tens of thousands of Jewish men served in the British Army and Navy in World War I and II.

Theresa May Responds in Parliament
British Prime Minister Theresa May rightly calls out Labour leader Corbyn for uttering such an antisemitic comment on the Parliament floor.

It seems like this issue won’t disappear. This antisemitism problem in the Labour party seems to be growing, not going away. The biggest problem with Jeremy Corbyn’s actions as the Labour party leader is that he is mainstreaming antisemitism.  As Maajid Nawaz has said, the Labour party today is now institutionally racist.

Why you can trust Sky News
A Labour member who called for others to "march" on a synagogue has been suspended, Sky News understands.

Amanda Bishop made the rallying call in a Facebook post that responded to news that another member had also been suspended, according to the Jewish Chronicle.

She allegedly wrote: "Solidarity is all well and good but it's enough now.

"We can't allow this to go on.

"We need to march about this to the Synagogue in Hove, all of us members in Brighton…

"Everyone please, we can't let this happen."

It is understood Ms Bishop, who wrote her message in an "unofficial" forum of Labour activists in Brighton, has been suspended, pending an investigation.

Brighton Kemptown MP Lloyd Russell-Moyle called Ms Bishop's comments "revolting", saying: "This is antisemitism and not acceptable in our society and our party; no excuses."

He also said police were involved in the matter.

The issue sparked consternation at the weekly meeting of Labour MPs in parliament, with Wes Streeting calling it "chilling".

"This is just one of many examples of antisemitism. And how many people saw it and did nothing about it? I'm done with the excuses and denials about the scale of the problem," he said.

UK School Employee Fired After Posting Objection to Homosexual, Gender Curriculum on Her Facebook Page

GLOUCESTERSHIRE — An employee at a school in the UK has been dismissed after posting objection on her personal Facebook page to teaching about homosexuality and transgenderism in the nation’s schools.

According to reports, Kristie Higgs learned last year that her son’s primary school, a separate school in the village that is affiliated with the Church of England, would be adopting the “No Outsiders” curriculum, which according to a site about the book, “aims to bring children and parents on board from the start so that children leave primary school happy and excited about living in a community full of difference and diversity, whether that difference is through ethnicity, gender, ability, sexual orientation, gender identity, age or religion.”

She attended a meeting to learn more about what the school planned to implement, and then soon shared a petition on her personal Facebook page opposing a government proposal to make Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) mandatory for both primary and secondary schools.

“They are brainwashing our children,” Higgs wrote. “[RSE] means, for example, that children will be taught that all relationships are equally valid and ‘normal,’ so that same-sex marriage is exactly the same as traditional marriage and that gender is a matter of choice, not biology, so that it’s up to them what sex they are.”

“At the same, it means that expressing and teaching fundamental Christian beliefs relating to the creation of men and women and marriage will in practice become forbidden because they conflict with the new morality and are seen as indoctrination into unacceptable religious bigotry,” she added.

Higgs urged her friends to sign the petition, opining that she feared that freedom of speech on the issues will soon only be permitted “for those who toe the party line,” and that such is a “vicious form of totalitarianism aimed at suppressing Christianity and removing it from the public arena.”

She additionally shared an article to her Facebook account about two transgender-centered children’s books that are being utilized in American schools, writing above the link, “This is happening in our primary schools now.”

According to the organization Christian Concern, Higgs’ posts were only visible to her friends. One unidentified individual who saw her comments contacted Higgs’ place of employment, Farmor’s School in Fairford, to lodge a complaint.

Following an investigation and a six-hour hearing, Higgs was dismissed from her duties at the school where she worked (not the same school as her son’s). Reasons provided for her firing included “illegal discrimination,” “serious inappropriate use of social media” and “online comments that could bring the school into disrepute and damage the reputation of the school.”

Higgs says, however, that she feels that she is the one being discriminated against.

“I have been punished for sharing concerns about Relationships and Sex Education. I hold these views because of my Christian beliefs, beliefs and views which are shared by hundreds of thousands of parents across the UK,” she said in a statement. “My number one concern has always been the effect that learning about sex and gender in school will have on children at such a young age.”

“As soon as the investigation into the posts began, I was repeatedly told, ‘This is nothing to do with your religion.’ That was clearly a legal tactic, and of course it has everything to do with my religion,” she opined. “I am determined to fight this case and to stand for Christians and all parents across the country who are being silenced for sharing and holding these views.”

Christian Concern and the Christian Legal Centre are now assisting Higgs with the matter.

“Many Christians have faced pressure for expressing these views in the workplace before, but in this case, Kristie has been dismissed for sharing her views among friends on Facebook,” said Chief Executive Andrea Williams. “What Kristie shared on Facebook simply reflects the genuine and justified concerns of a parent about the sexual ideology currently being imposed on her own children and thousands of children across the UK.”

In Birmingham, England, a startling and graphic machete attack was captured on film as a horrified resident recorded the footage from the window of a nearby home.
A large gang of men can be seen chasing after their victim, knocking him to the ground and brutally attacking him with kicks and stomps.
Two of the attackers can be seen wielding three-and-a-half foot long machetes and can be seen repeatedly using them to strike their victim on his body and head as he lays defenseless on the ground.
Among vicious kicks on the victim’s head and ribs, other members of the gang used hammers to beat him.
Two citizens bravely intervened to confront the attackers who then flee, sprinting down the road. Neighbours and onlookers called emergency services and police officers chased the gang on foot to a nearby street.
Earlier this week, Cressida Dick – commissioner of London’s Metropolitan Police – said UK authorities are “hamstrung” by outdated technology and that it’s only helped the “bad guys” race ahead.
Notably, UK Home Secretary Sajid Javid told the Metropolitan Police force to “step up” its response to knife crimes after five murders transpired in just one week.

Six bombs went off in quick succession before another two blasts two hours later in Sri Lanka's worst violence since the end of its decades-long civil war in 2009.
As details of the horror emerged today, Sri Lankan TV chef Shantha Mayadunne and her London-based daughter Nisanga were among the first victims named.

Further fatalities are said to include three Indians, two Turks, one Portuguese citizen and an unknown number of Dutch and Chinese nationals.

Eight suspects have been arrested, as it emerged the country's police chief had warned of an Islamic extremist plot to target 'prominent churches' just 10 days earlier, but no group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
Sri Lanka's defence ministry has now ordered curfew with immediate effect 'until further notice' while access to social media messaging services has been shut down.

Dissident republicans have been blamed by police for the murder of a female journalist who was shot dead while covering a riot in Londonderry last night.

Lyra McKee, 29, is believed to have been hit by a stray bullet after a gunman opened fire indiscriminately towards a crowd of police officers and bystanders at around 11pm, in what is now being investigated as a 'terrorist incident'.

Northern Irish police revealed this morning that they believe the New IRA was 'most likely' behind the killing, calling Ms McKee a 'completely innocent bystander' as close friends described her as 'utterly irreplaceable'.

Moments before her death, Ms McKee had posted an image from the scene of the riots on Twitter showing smoke rising into the air above emergency service vehicles, along with the caption: 'Derry tonight. Absolute madness.'

Shocking footage posted to social media shows a masked man taking cover near the rioters while holding a handgun, before firing two shots. Seconds later screams are heard coming from the other end of the road.

The journalist had extensively covered the legacy of the Troubles, and spoke of being segregated from Protestants while growing up on Belfast's 'Murder Mile', a road notorious for the high number of locals killed by Ulster loyalists.

Rioting had erupted following a raid by police, who said they were trying to prevent militant attacks planned for Easter weekend, a time when dissidents are traditionally active due to the anniversary of the 1916 Easter Rising.

Assistant chief constable Mark Hamilton said more than 50 petrol bombs were thrown at police during the riots as he described the killing as 'not only a murder of a young woman, it is an attack again on the people of this city'.

He then pointed the finger at the New IRA, an amalgamation of dissident republican factions in the city, which was blamed for a car bombing in Bishop Street in January, as he called for calm in the city ahead of Easter.

Activists targeted five locations - the others being Parliament Square and Piccadilly Circus - as they demand the Government declare a climate emergency, although organisers warned they could be arrested for blocking traffic.

Protesters held people's assemblies, performances, talks and workshops today - with a colourful display of flags bringing normally busy routes to a standstill, with trees placed on Waterloo Bridge making it a 'Garden Bridge'.

Hundreds of people gathered outside Oxford Circus Tube station around a pink boat, where some used makeshift devices to lock their arms together. In Parliament Square, others unfurled banners and held up placards and flags.

Some observers said the protests would lead to others taking longer journeys than normal, with one labelling the protesters 'deluded zealots' and another tweeting: 'The one day I get the bus to work all the routes are messed up.'

Amid a relatively small police presence today, Scotland Yard said they have 'appropriate policing plans' in place and officers will be used from across the force 'to support the public order operation during the coming weeks'.

Police advised people travelling around London in the coming days to allow extra time for their journey. People in at least 80 cities in more than 33 countries are holding similar demonstrations on the same issues today.

Some people set up camp in Hyde Park overnight into today, although permission had not been sought from the Royal Parks, which said camping is not allowed. But police said no arrests had been made by midday today.

Armed Police opened fire on car that repeatedly rammed the Ukrainian ambassador's vehicle outside of the embassy.

A silver Mercedes raced towards the Ukrainian ambassadors car as police shot at the driver through the window.

Police have sealed off a street near the Ukrainian embassy in west London today after reports of gunfire.

A statement from the Ukrainian Embassy said: 'Around 10 am on Saturday 13 April, the official vehicle of the Ambassador of Ukraine to the United Kingdom was deliberately rammed as it sat parked in front of the Embassy of Ukraine's building.

'The police were called immediately, and the suspect's vehicle was blocked up. Nevertheless, despite the police actions, the attacker hit the Ambassador's car again.

'In response, the police were forced to open fire on the perpetrator's vehicle. The culprit was apprehended and taken to a police station. No one of the Embassy staff were injured. The police are investigating the suspect's identity and motive for the attack.'

A woman who works at a nearby shop said she heard shots fired twice between 10am and 11am on Saturday.

The woman, who did not wish to be named, said officers arrived 'very quick', adding: 'I saw many police cars coming.'

Chief Superintendent Andy Walker, from the Met's Specialist Firearms Command, said: 'As is standard procedure, an investigation is now ongoing into the discharge of a police firearm during this incident. While this takes place, I would like to pay tribute to the officers involved this morning who responded swiftly to this incident and put themselves in harm's way, as they do every day, to keep the people of London safe.'

One witness in the area claimed on social media they had heard up to 10 shots in Holland Park this afternoon.

Photos from the scene show a number of police cars and officers in the area.

Henry Greenfields, who lives nearby, told MyLondon a neighbour had heard shots fired and then seen police return fire.

Jeremy Corbyn has angered supporters of British veterans after saying former soldiers should face prosecution for incidents during the Troubles, days after a former paratrooper was charged with murder over Bloody Sunday.

The Labour leader told Sophy Ridge on Sunday that the 'law must apply to everyone', and denied that there was a discrepancy between the investigations into soldiers after Republican suspects were sent 'comfort letters' offering effective immunity from prosecution.

Matthew Jury, of McCue & Partners, who is representing the families of the victims of the Hyde Park bombings, told MailOnline: ‘Shamefully, Corbyn and co continue to stand by Blair’s outrageous decision to do a back-room deal with the IRA to grant terrorists on-the-run effective amnesty – and remember, whatever their protestations, this was not a part of the Good Friday Agreement.

‘All the while they sermonise about no one being above the law. They can’t have it both ways.

'If they’re going to demonise and pillory Britain’s veterans, then they must also back, not only an unequivocal revocation of the on-the-run letters, but a swooping up of the terrorists themselves to finally face justice.’

It came after the Public Prosecution Service controversially decided to prosecute a man, known as Soldier F, for the murders of James Wray and William McKinney at the civil rights march in Londonderry in 1972.

The decision sparked anger among former servicemen, who pointed out former British soldiers were facing prosecution while IRA men got off Scot free.

Mr Corbyn said 'we should have a fair and proper judicial process' and said what happened on Bloody Sunday was 'awful and appalling'.

He added: 'I do think it's important to have the independence of a legal process, and there has to be an insurance that everyone has to abide by the law.'

He was pressed on whether it was fair given how those members of the IRA suspected of crimes were offered an amnesty in the Northern Irish peace process.

The Labour leader replied: 'The Good Friday Agreement was important, seminal and complicated, but it does not provide complete immunity for everyone, it was never intended to.'

Shami Chakrabarti criticised the comments of Defence Secretary Gavin Williamson in support of Soldier F, when he said the Government would pay his full legal costs and added: 'Our serving and former personnel cannot live in constant fear of prosecution.'

She told BBC One's Andrew Marr Show she approves of anyone accused of serious crimes getting 'full, complete five-star legal aid'.

But she added: 'It's not about wannabe prime ministers who are currently Defence Secretary giving coded messages of support to one defendant or another, its about saying anybody who's been charged with murder, which is the most serious offence in our law, should get the best possible defence and it should be paid for by the state.'

Asked about Mr Williamson's suggestion to change the law end prevent soldiers being charged, she said: 'I don't think we can do that if we believe in the rule of law.'

Baroness Chakrabarti said it would start a 'very dangerous precedent if we started granted blanket immunities to anybody in a particular role or profession'.

Former paratrooper charged with murder while IRA terrorists go free

It was announced on Thursday that a former serviceman, named only as 'Soldier F', will stand trial for the murders of two men during the Bloody Sunday shooting in 1972 and the attempted murders of four others.

The prosecution has sparked a political row, with Armed Forces groups saying soldiers who served their country are facing investigation while IRA members avoid action under so-called 'comfort letters'.

Alan Barry, founder of Justice for Northern Ireland Veterans, said: 'Under the terms of the Good Friday Agreement, veterans are being left open to prosecution while terrorists have been cleansed of their past crimes.'

At the same time as Soldier F's prosecution was announced this morning, authorities revealed that two alleged Official IRA members would face no criminal action.

In the wake of this morning's landmark decision to prosecute the soldier, MPs accused the government of failing to do enough to protect those who fought in the Army.

Former Sinn Fein leader Gerry Adams waded into the row, saying more soldiers should be prosecuted and throwing his weight behind a protest just over the Irish border in Dundalk.

Soldier F is one of 17 former members of the 1st Battalion Parachute Regiment who were investigated over the violence which left 13 people dead in Londonderry in 1972.

The sixteen other British military veterans who were investigated over Bloody Sunday will not face action, it was announced this morning.

Soldier F is now thought to be in his 70s and faces trial for the alleged murders of James Wray and William McKinney and the alleged attempted murders of Joseph Friel, Michael Quinn, Joe Mahon and Patrick O'Donnell.

Critics of the decision point out that around 200 IRA fugitives, thought to be behind a series of terror attacks during the Troubles, were sent so-called 'comfort letters', assuring them they were no longer suspects.

The British government said it will support Soldier F and cover all of his legal costs, with Defence Secretary Gavin Williamson praising the 'courage and distinction' of those who fought in Northern Ireland.

Meghan's bold home birth plan: Duchess wants to follow in the Queen's footsteps by having her baby at home in new Windsor cottage – to avoid the 'goldfish bowl' of hospital ward

The Duchess of Sussex is considering a home birth at Windsor later this month, friends have revealed.

Meghan, 37, is keen to follow in the Queen's footsteps by having a midwife-led birth at Frogmore Cottage, the new home she shares with Prince Harry on the Berkshire estate.

The Queen was born at the Mayfair home of her grandparents and gave birth to each of her four children at either Buckingham Palace or Clarence House.

Sources stressed that Harry and Meghan, who are expecting their first child within weeks, have not ruled out a hospital delivery because a woman having a baby over the age of 35 is at an increased risk of premature birth or the need for an epidural or caesarean.

A friend said that Meghan (pictured) is in extremely good health and sees no reason why she could not enjoy a safe delivery in the privacy of the cottage +5

But a friend in America said the duchess – who still practices yoga daily and has 'sailed' through her pregnancy – is in extremely good health and sees no reason why she could not enjoy a safe delivery in the privacy of the cottage.

'It is her favoured choice,' the source said, 'but it obviously depends on how things are nearer the time.'

If she does go ahead with a home birth, Meghan could give birth without any pain relief at all, but would also have the option of gas and air, a warm bath, a birth pool, TENS (a machine that uses small, electrical impulses to reduce pain and muscle spasms) or relaxation techniques such as hypnobirthing, which Californian Meghan – who very much favours alternative therapies – is believed to have been studying with Harry.

A man is fighting for his life after being stabbed and robbed in London today, as the capital was hit by another wave of knife crime attacks.

The man, in his late 20s, was 'run over' and stabbed by two men in Crossmead, Eltham, south east London, during a robbery just after 5pm in which his moped was stolen. One arrest has been made.

Three more people have been stabbed in the capital today, including two in the north of the capital in potentially linked attacks.

A man in his 20s was stabbed in his leg on High Street in Walthamstow, north east London, following reports of a fight at around 4.30pm.

Before that, two other men were attacked in Kilburn, north west London this morning, with one, 63, stabbed in the back at around 1.19am, before a second, aged 39, was stabbed in the stomach a short time later.

The latest day of bloodshed in the capital comes after a man in his 20s was killed in a gun and knife attack in east London last night.

The man stabbed in Eltham is believed to be in a life-threatening condition, with his sister Jade taking to Facebook to reveal that he was run over before being stabbed.

She said: 'He was run over couple times and stabbed has a broken pelvis and a punctured lung.'

None of the other three victims of today's stabbings are in a life-threatening condition and no arrests have yet been made.

Detective Sergeant Mark Johnson, from North West Area's CID, said of the two Kilburn stabbings: 'At this early stage in the investigation, we are keeping an open mind as to whether the two incidents are linked and there is a team of officers working around the clock who are carrying out patrols, CCTV footage enquiries and speaking to witnesses.

The Walthamstow stabbing follows the stabbings of two other men in the early hours of the morning in Kilburn High Street (pictured), in potentially linked attacks

Yesterday, four people were captured on CCTV fleeing the scene of a murder in east London.

A man in his 20s died in the gun and knife attack and this morning his mother was spotted visiting the scene in the aftermath.

The London Ambulance Service alerted police that a man had been attacked in Manor Park shortly before 9.30pm on Monday.

Scotland Yard said officers went to the street and found the victim 'suffering from what are believed to be knife and gunshot wounds'.

'Despite the efforts of medics, the male died at the scene,' the force said. An increased police presence was deployed in the area on Monday night as an investigation began.

The area surrounding the scene was sealed off and murder detectives were notified.

A Metropolitan Police spokeswoman confirmed a Stop and Search order had been implemented in the Borough of Newham, which will remain in place until 1.30pm on Tuesday.

The Commons was suspended this afternoon as water flooded into the chamber from the roof.

MPs were forced to abandon a debate on the controversial Loan Charge as gallons of water cascaded into the press gallery above MPs.

Deputy Speaker Lindsay Hoyle announced he was being forced to suspend the chamber as the sound of water dripping drowned Labour MP Justin Madders.

Less than 30 minutes later the rest of the day's business was abandoned, suggesting the problem could not be easily fixed.

Crucially it also means the Government cannot table any Brexit motions for debate and vote on Monday - something rumours suggested was being planned ahead of the emergency EU summit on Monday.

It is the second bizarre interruption of the Commons this week after semi naked protesters staged a demonstration in the public gallery on Monday.

He said: 'I've never been in a debate before where rain stopped play but it has happened now.'

The water - which poured along the backwall of the chamber high above the Speaker's chair - soaked dozens of seats.

The flood was thought to be coming from a restaurant on the third floor of the Palace of Westminster.

The House of Commons press office said: 'We are aware of a water leak on the estate and are taking urgent action to resolve it.'

They added: 'The leak was urgently dealt with and has now been isolated. The House of Commons maintenance team is currently assessing the damage.'

After the sitting was suspended, Tory Neil O'Brien posted another picture of confused politicians studying their new 'water feature'

On Monday, several of the 'Extinction Rebellion' group glued themselves to the window dividing MPs from the watching public in the biggest Commons security breach since 2014.

Labour MP Peter Kyle joked about the 'naked truth' as MPs' attention was distracted from his speech by the demonstration.

Tory MP James Heappey defied Commons rules to photograph the dozen people, who had slogans including 'climate justice act now' and 'eco collapse' daubed on their backs.

Semi-naked climate change protesters interrupted a Commons debate on Brexit on Monday as they stripped off in the public gallery

Speaker John Bercow told MPs to ignore the demonstration and continue with the debate as they stood in a line with their backsides pressed against the security glass.

Most were wearing only thong-style underwear which left little to the imagination.

Shocked MPs including former Labour leader Ed Miliband glanced up at the group as they stripped off behind the glass screen that separate the chamber from the public gallery.

Some of the protesters were singing Nelly the Elephant while under the gaze of Parliamentarians.

The protesters were later named as including Oliver Baines, 68, former charity chief executive, Bell Selkie, 48, a counsellor, Isla Macleod, 34, a celebrant, Iggy Fox, 24, a wildlife biologist and William Cooke, 36, former teacher and Mark Øvland, 35.

Multi-billion repairs are needed for the whole Palace of Westminster, which is riddled with asbestos, leaking ceilings, rodents and moths and was described as a 'death trap' by one close to the refurbishment plans.

A lack of fire doors means that Palace of Westminster firemen have to patrol the building at night, turning off lights, computers and other electronic equipment to reduce the risks of a blaze.

Multi-billion repairs are needed for the whole Palace of Westminster, which was described as a 'death trap' by one close to the refurbishment plans. There is already a massive project to renovate the Big Ben clock tower under way (pictured)

Experts have said revamping the historic site could cost as much as £7billion and take 32 years to complete.

In 2017 MPs voted in favour of moving out of Westminster entirely so Parliament can be renovated before a disastrous fire.

The Commons voted 234 to 135, a majority of just 16, in favour of endorsing the work of a joint committee of MPs and Peers on what to do about the dilapidated state of the building.

MPs and peers will move out of the Palace of Westminster – but are yet to approve the cash or a schedule for works.

Last year the scorching summer caused cracks to appear in the ailing roof walked under by hundreds of MPs every day.

An area inside Portcullis House has been cordoned off and emergency work will be carried out on the glass above to stop it getting worse.

The building next door to the Palace of Westminster was only opened 17 years ago and houses a third of all MPs, several of their coffee bars and restaurants as well as meeting rooms used by committees.

But it has been plagued by faults caused by its design and saw water cascading in on several occasions after more cracks appeared in the roof.

But he has now appealed his 27-year life sentence.

Neighbours revealed how Campbell had been known to harm animals and was believed to have buried their bodies in the grounds of the family home, a detached villa on the promenade.

In March Lord Matthews sentenced Campbell to life imprisonment and ordered him to spend at least 27 years behind bars before he can apply for parole.

But he warned he may never be released, with reports having 'painted a clear picture of a cold, callous, calculating, remorseless and dangerous individual'.

The judge said Campbell had shown a 'staggering lack of remorse' and told the teenager: 'Not once did I detect a flicker of emotion from you'.

Campbell was convicted at Glasgow High Court on February 21 when a jury found him guilty unanimously after a nine-day trial over her death on July 2 last year.

Campbell's version of events was read to the court, revealing how to had to 'zip my mouth shut' to stop from laughing during the trial, and that he saw the sleeping child as a 'moment of opportunity'.

The Queen has 'banned' the Duchess of Sussex from wearing some of the priceless items from her Royal Collection, it has been revealed today.

Certain priceless items from the collection, which are loaned at the discretion of Her Majesty, will not be made available to Meghan, according to a palace insider.

The move reportedly came after the Queen was left 'unimpressed by Meghan's demanding behaviour' ahead of her marriage to Prince Harry last year - during which he is reported to have told staff, 'What Meghan wants Meghan gets.'

Buckingham Palace has reportedly applied the stringent new rules to Meghan in a bid to 'maintain order, hierarchy and precedence' within the Royal Family.

The Queen, pictured with Meghan and Harry in June 2018, has reportedly banned Meghan from wearing certain items from the Royal Collection

The sparkling tiara Meghan wore on her wedding day was the Queen Mary's Diamond Bandeau. It was specifically made for the Queen's grandmother Queen Mary in 1932 to accommodate the detachable brooch, which was given to Mary as a wedding present in 1893 by the County of Lincoln

Military officials have slammed four British paratroopers after they used a picture of Jeremy Corbyn for target practice in a 'totally unacceptable' video shared on Snapchat.

The troops, of the 3rd Battalion Parachute Regiment based at Merville Barracks in Essex, were seen peppering a large image of the Labour leader with hard wax rounds at a shooting range in Kabul, Afghanistan.

Politicians and the public condemned the footage online and the Ministry of Defence said it had launched an investigation, adding their behaviour fell 'well below the high standards the Army expects'.

Meanwhile Labour described the video as 'alarming' and called for urgent action to be taken.

It is understood the paratroopers involved have been spoken to and will soon return to the UK as their tour is coming to an end.

Some Twitter users claimed the video was fake, but it has been verified by military officials.

The troops, pictured, were filmed on Snapchat firing paintball rounds at the picture at a shooting range in Kabul, Afghanistan. They are members of 3rd Battalion Parachute Regiment based at Merville Barracks in Essex

A Labour Party spokeswoman said: 'This behaviour is alarming and unacceptable. We have confidence in the MoD to investigate and act on this incident.'

The target appears to show the party leader speaking at a podium with the Labour logo in front of him.

The video also includes the caption 'Happy with that.'

A link to the footage was shared on Twitter by former soldier and Military Cross recipient Trevor Coult, who also wrote 'Not looking good for a Labour leader' alongside a laughing emoji on his post.

The link has since been taken down and the footage appears to have been deleted.

The range is designed for and used by personnel to practise what is called the 'guardian angel drill' - a force protection tactic.

Several politicians reacted with fury this morning as the video emerged.

Shadow defence secretary Nia Griffith slammed the video on Twitter, describing it as 'shocking and completely unacceptable'.

'Right that the Army is carrying out a full investigation,' she added.

Former soldier and Tory MP, Johnny Mercer, tweeted that 'every organisation has good people who make serious misjudgement

He added: 'It's how it police's itself that matters, and an inability to do that correctly has caused so many problems of late (IHAT). I look forward to a robust response.'

Labour MP, Dan Jarvis, who is also a former Paratrooper, said the incident is 'shameful and utterly unacceptable'.

'This goes against the values and standards of the British Army. I welcome the Ministry of Defence investigation into this video and trust it will be resolved quickly,' he added.

Shadow education secretary, Angela Rayner, also criticised the video branding it as 'absolutely disgraceful'.

She added: 'I hope the investigation will be conducted thoroughly and the conclusions made public.

'Political tensions are heightened at the moment and this type of behaviour is wholly inappropriate and unacceptable, we expect much better from our Army and soldiers.'

Labour MP Lucy Powell said she is 'absolutely shocked', and that the behaviour of the personnel is a 'total disgrace and utterly unacceptable'.

'Not least emerging the day after someone was convicted of trying to murder an MP,' she added.'

Labour MP Stella Creasy added the 'awful' video 'damages the well deserved professional standing' of the Army.

The paratroopers have been slammed on social media for the incident +4
The camera zoomed in on the picture of Mr Corbyn to show several shots hit the target. Although there are claims online that the video is fake, but the Ministry of Defence confirmed it was legitimate

She tweeted: 'Not going to promote the awful video of soldiers doing target practice with a picture of Jeremy Corbyn but it's appalling - completely unacceptable and frightening to threaten violence to any politician.

'It also damages the well deserved professional standing of rest of the Army.'

The shocking clip has also drawn wide criticism on social media, with one person dubbing the video 'facist.'

Some online have claimed the unknown troops - whose faces can be seen in the footage - belong to the Parachute Regiment.

Many on social media slammed the footage particularly in the wake of the murder of Labour MP Jo Cox by far-right killer Thomas Mair in 2016.

Anthony Lock commented: 'Not looking good for the Paras either lol. Outrage in the morning you watch.'

Another social media user described it as 'extremely fascist behaviour'.

Anders Gardberg added:  'How deeply unprofessional. The task of any military unit in a democratic country is to defend the nation and its institutions, not even target them as a joke.'

Zach Martin posted: 'Almost certain this is illegal but even if it isn't against the law for uniformed military personnel to threaten death [on] a Member of Parliament, it's undeniably f****** terrifying.

'Gentle reminder that Jo Cox was murdered by a 'British Patriot' less than three years go.'

An Army spokesperson said: 'We are aware of a video circulating on social media, this behaviour is totally unacceptable and falls well below the high standards the Army expects.

'A full investigation has been launched.'

A spokesman for the Parachute Regiment declined to comment.

Edmonton knifeman 'strikes again': Man in his 30s fights for life after 5am stabbing just a street away from scene of one of the four previous attacks
Man was walking with a friend in Edmonton in early hours when he was knifed
Condition believed to be life-threatening but his friend was unharmed
Comes after four people were stabbed 'at random' in north London last weekend
Two men arrested for GBH in connection with the stabbings remain in custody

The 'Edmonton knifeman' is believed to have struck again after a man was stabbed in the early hours of this morning - one street away from the scene of one of the other four attacks.

The victim, believed to be in his thirties, was walking with a friend in Fairfield Road, Edmonton just after 5am today when he was attacked.

Emergency services were scrambled to nearby Aberdeen Road where they found him suffering 'life-threatening' injuries. He is currently in hospital in a 'critical but stable condition'. His friend was unharmed.

It comes after four people were 'attacked at random' by a knifeman on a 14-hour rampage in the same area of north London over the weekend.

Three men aged between 23 and 52 and a 45-year-old woman were stabbed as they walked alone in Edmonton on Saturday night and Sunday morning.

The female victim, who is still fighting for her life in hospital, was attacked in Aberdeen Road - one street down from where today's attack took place.

Two men arrested for GBH in connection with four of the stabbings are still in custody.

A fifth person has been stabbed in Edmonton, north London , as police still hunt the suspect responsible for four other knife attacks in the area

Terrified locals spoke of the disturbing rate of near-fatal incidents in the area over the period of just four days.

Police have said the latest attack has 'not yet been formally linked' to the other four, but the culprit in all five is a 'tall, skinny black man' believed to be suffering from mental health issues.  There is nothing to suggest the attacks are terror related.

The Metropolitan Police refused to comment when asked by MailOnline whether the men in custody will be released following the fifth stabbing.

Despite the two arrests, neighbours say they are still frightened to walk around the area alone.

Timeline of stabbings
Saturday March 30

7.02pm: A woman, aged 45, is left in a  'critical condition' after she is knifed in the back in Aberdeen Road, Edmonton.

Sunday March 31

00.15am: A man is stabbed in Park Avenue and rushed to hospital with non-life threatening wounds.

3.55am: A 23-year-old man is stabbed in Silver Street, Edmonton, before being found at Seven Sisters Tube station.

9.43am: A man is knifed in the back in  Brettenham Road in another 'bloodbath attack'.

Tuesday, April 2

5.05pm: A man, in his 30s, is found with knife injuries in Aberdeen Road, Edmonton after being stabbed in Fairfield Road.

Tarek Elmadkhoun, 32, said this morning: 'It happened just outside my door. My wife heard some talking at 5am. She's a bit worried.

'I just moved here one week ago. To be honest it's a bit worrying. My wife doesn't speak English. She doesn't know what to do.'

Kelvin Ojo, 36, added: 'It's scary now, this is not normal. They can't find this person, it's just one guy.

'It's been peaceful for a while until all this drama started coming up. Now I'm starting thinking about moving from this area, I'm not liking it.

'It could happen to anyone - my friends, my family, it could happen to me. It's really scary.

'We don't even know this guy they are talking about, so it's really scary.'

A large police cordon is in place blocking off several streets in the area, with uniformed officers standing guard.

Investigators in forensic suits are taking photographs of the area and looking for clues.

A black jacket, metallic blanket and medical equipment marks the scene in Aberdeen Road, where the victim was found.

On Lawrence Road, which is a short distance from the scene of the latest stabbing, there was also a police cordon guarded by uniformed officers while a police dog was led round an adjacent park.

It was unclear what the latest police activity related to.

Mike Kalongi, 28, who lives near the scene of the stabbing, said: 'It's getting a bit close.

'It's a bit scary. I usually go to the gym at night, but over the last few days I decided not to.

'I'm going shopping. I usually have my headphones on but I want to stay aware and try not to be a victim. It's scary. It's really scary.'

Police officers are pictured in Aberdeen Road, Edmonton, this morning where a man was found stabbed in the early hours

Connor McCoy, 21, who also lives close to today's stabbing, said: 'I presume it's a follow-on from what happened prior.

'I just hope they catch the guy and it gets prevented.'

Mr McCoy said he still feels safe in the area, but added: 'I just hope that the slightly more defenceless people can feel safe living in this street.

'I hope that something happens, something to deal with knife crime.'

Today's stabbing follows a fatal knife attack in Kentish Town, north London at 8.30pm last night.

A murder probe has been launched after the victim, a man in his twenties, died in the 32nd homicide London has seen so far this year.

A man in his thirties was stabbed in Aberdeen Road (pictured) in the early hours of this morning - after a woman, 45, was knifed there over the weekend

Schools in Edmonton brought in extra security yesterday and police have urged anyone walking on their own through the area to take extra care.

Patrols were stepped up as detectives questioned the two men on suspicion of GBH after they issued a description of a suspect as a tall, slim black man, possibly wearing a hood.

But investigators are said to be unsure whether either of the suspects in custody is the knifeman and are therefore encouraging caution among those in the area.

The suspect in all five attacks is described as a skinny black man who is approximately 6ft 3ins tall and wearing dark clothes.

One suspect in custody was named locally as Mark Williams, who is in his 40s and was flagged as a risk to the local council after he was reported missing for a week.

A neighbour told how she had asked the local housing officer from Enfield Council to check on Mr Williams on Friday afternoon because she was worried – having not seen him for a week.

Others said police had repeatedly been called to his address over anti-social behaviour and concerns over large groups gathering there.

Locals said he was known in the local area as Footsy and would often be seen walking around with a tennis racquet and a ball.

A graphic shows where the five Edmonton stabbings took place over the period of just four days. Today's attack was in Fairfield Road - one street down from Aberdeen Road - the scene of one of the other four attacks

Yesterday morning, a Section 60 order was put in place, allowing officers to stop and search anyone in the area to prevent further violence. This lasted until 1.50am today.

A Met Police spokesman said this morning: 'Officers were called at approximately 05:05hrs on Tuesday, 2 April to reports of a man stabbed in Aberdeen Road, N18.

'Police and London Ambulance Service attended and found a man, believed to be aged in his 30s, suffering a stab injury.

'He is reported to have been walking with a companion when he was attacked in Fairfield Road. The victim then made his way to Aberdeen Road, where he was found by police.

'The other person did not suffer any injuries. The suspect is described as a tall, skinny black man, wearing a hoody.

'The victim has been taken to an east London hospital; at this time his condition is being treated as life-threatening.'

Today's stabbing follows a fatal knife attack in Kentish Town, north London, which saw a man in his twenties murdered

A murder probe is underway after yet another fatal stabbing on the capital's streets which saw a man in his 20s knifed to death in Kentish Town, north London

Detective Superintendent Luke Marks, of the North Area Command Unit, added: 'I am aware that events from the weekend have caused a huge amount of worry and concern among the community, and that this incident will cause further alarm.

'While at this stage the incident has not yet been formally linked, the location and manner of this attack will be of concern to the public.

'Our advice continues that the public remain vigilant, and to contact police regarding anyone acting suspiciously.

'You will see additional uniformed patrols in the Edmonton area; if you have any concerns, please speak with my officers immediately.'

The first attack happened around 7pm on Saturday, with a 45-year-old woman stabbed in the back by a man.

She is the most seriously injured and police described her condition as 'critical'.

Crime scene: Plumber Roger Blackman (pictured right) helps police officers at the scene of the fourth Edmonton stabbing on Sunday

Forensics experts work at the scene of all four attacks yesterday as the investigation continues

The second assault happened shortly after midnight that night, with a 52-year-old man attacked on nearby Park Avenue. He was rushed to hospital but has since been discharged, police revealed yesterday morning.

The third attack happened near Seven Sisters tube station shortly before 4am on Sunday, with a 23-year-old man injured. He remains in a 'critical but stable condition'.

The fourth attack happened around 9.45am on Sunday, with a 29-year-old male victim also stabbed in the back. He remains in hospital but doctors expect him to survive his injuries.

The fifth attack took place at 5.05am on Tuesday in Fairfield Road, Edmonton. The victim was a man in his thirties who was walking alone with a friend.

He stumbled to nearby Aberdeen Road where he was found by police. He is in hospital in a life-threatening condition. His friend was unharmed.

A victim's belongings and medical paraphernalia was strewn across the scene of another Edmonton stabbing in Fore Street

Local plumber Roger Blackman was first on the scene of the fourth stabbing and saw the attacker run off, leaving the victim with blood pouring from a wound.

Speaking to MailOnline on Sunday night, he said: 'I heard a scream, I looked to my right, I saw a guy run off, then another scream. I saw blood pouring out of the back of him, I went to my van to get some towels to stem the flow.

'I saw the guy turn around and run off, he was literally about 10-15 feet away from where I was. I was in the back of my van so I'm always aware of what's going on around me.

'The victim was screaming, oh my God, oh my God, why has this happened to me. There was blood pouring out of his gash. It was a great big gash, about a three-inch wound.

'I was visiting my mum for mother's day. You hear about it in the papers and now it's happened in front of your mother's house. It does make you wonder, it makes you think about going out.'

Residents of the area say they have been left scared to go out alone following the attacks. Part of the police cordon is pictured yesterday

Opening a summit in Downing Street yesterday morning, Prime Minister Theresa May said tackling knife violence is a 'priority' for ministers as well as families, young people and communities across the country.

More than 100 experts will meet this week after the Government unveiled new plans which could see frontline workers in schools, hospitals and police stations accountable for failing to 'spot warning signs' of violent crime among young people.

Home Secretary Sajid Javid floated the idea of a so-called 'public health duty' intended to help spot the warning signs that a young person could be in danger, 'such as presenting in A&E with a suspicious injury, to worrying behaviour at school or issues at home'.

He stepped up stop and search operations following a week-long crackdown on knife crime known as Operation Sceptre.

Tesco locks knives in glass cabinets in bid to tackle bloodshed - amid fears slasher is on loose after five stabbings in four days in same part of London
By Amie Gordon for MailOnline

Tesco is now locking knives in locked glass cabinets in a bid to stop them being stolen by teenagers using them to stab rivals in the streets.

The supermarket giant has made the move amid escalating violence sweeping the capital which has seen 32 victims stabbed to death this year alone.

Police are now urging other stores to follow suit as they step up patrols in north London, where an attacker remains on the loose after knifing a passerby in Edmonton - after four people were 'attacked at random' in the same area during a 14-hour rampage over the weekend.

The storage units even have combination locks to make sure they are only accessible to members of staff.

Tesco is now locking knives in locked glass cabinets in a bid to stop them being stolen

Southbury Police posted a letter on Twitter which officers have circulated to supermarkets in Edmonton.

It reads: 'London is in the middle of a knife crime epidemic which is making national news. Enfield is having its fair share of knife crimes were people are being seriously injured or killed.

'Many of these knife crimes are as a result of kitchen knives being used. The police are doing their best to combat this threat but as you know we are extremely stretched with numbers and are facing an uphill battle.'

Police added the Tesco fitted the cabinet after 'several shopliftings of their knives from youths who we all know won't be using them for cooking.'

No knives have been stolen since, police confirmed.

Before: Tesco used to sell knives straight from the shelf but has taken measures to lock thm away amid a spate of fatal stabbings in the capital

Enfield MPS replied: 'Something very straightforward and very easy to implement in every department store is this locked cabinet for knives. Hopefully we can get more & more stores to follow this procedure. We all play a part in reducing #knifecrime.'.

Officers have now called upon Sainsburys and Dunelm to follow suit.

The force added: 'We agree that the vast majority of kitchen knives will be taken from kitchen drawers. The fact is however that youths are stealing knives from these stores. To quote a large supermarket soundbite 'every little helps.

'We never said it would stop knife crime, but if it even saved one life.'

Morrisons has banned the sale of knives altogether in some London stores.

The manager of one branch in Peckham, south London, said he decided to act after noticing pupils swipe them on the way to school.

Yago Riedijk, a 27-year-old jihadist from the Netherlands, has been placed on an exclusion list and is currently being held in a cell in northern Syria

The husband of ISIS bride Shamima Begum, 19, has been banned from entering Britain because he poses a national security risk.

Yago Riedijk, a 27-year-old jihadist from the Netherlands, has been placed on an exclusion list and is currently being held in a cell in northern Syria.

Home Secretary Sajid Javid imposed the ban just weeks after Begum, who is currently living in a Syrian refugee camp, lost her British citizenship.

The ban of Riedijk, who was jailed for six years last year in his home country the Netherlands for membership of a terrorist organisation, has been praised by Conservative MP Philip Hollobone.

He told the Sun it was 'very welcome news'.

He said: 'We need to see more of this. There is going to be the threat of thousands of these fighters returning to Europe over the next few months.

'We have to make it clear they're not welcome in this country.'

The couple had three children who all died, the most recent of which was three-week-old Jerrah - named after a 'jihadi warlord'.

Begum pleaded with the British Government last month to be allowed to return to the UK after fleeing to Syria in 2015 to join ISIS.

She said she deserved sympathy and should be given a second chance.

Riedijk spoke about his love for his wife in an interview with The Times yesterday.

He said: 'We got very close very quickly. The perfect wife. She was so young and innocent'.

Guidelines show that bans can be imposed on those who might advance an ideological cause that may endanger another person's life.

The couple had three children but all died. Riedijk is locked up in a cell with 20 other fighters, while his wife is living in a refugee camp.

A manhunt is underway for a hooded knifeman after four people were stabbed from behind in a 'random' 12-hour rampage in north London.

Police have warned the public to be on their guard following the stabbings in Edmonton from Saturday night into Sunday morning, which left a 45-year-old woman fighting for her life.

The knifeman described as a tall, skinny, black man, wearing a hood and dark clothing, approached all of the people from behind in what police said was random attacks not linked to terrorism.

Police are investigating four stabbings in Edmonton, London, as the capital continues to struggle under a knife crime epidemic

The first stabbing left a 45-year-old woman in 'critical condition' after she was knifed in the back on Aberdeen Road, just after 7pm yesterday evening.

Just hours later, a man was stabbed shortly after midnight in Park Avenue and was rushed to hospital with non-life threatening wounds.

A 23-year-old man was then stabbed at Silver Street, Edmonton, before being found at around 3.55am at Seven Sisters tube station and remains in a stable condition.

Following this, an unidentified man was knifed in the back in another 'bloodbath attack' this morning just a quarter of a mile from where the woman was stabbed.

He was taken to hospital and suffered potentially life-changing injuries.

It comes after a 22-year-old man was shot this morning in Walthamstow, London, at around 2.50am on Penrhyn Avenue.

He was rushed to an east London hospital but his condition is not thought to be life threatening and no arrests have been made.

Police are treating the four stabbings as potentially linked but say the victims appear to have been selected at random due to them being 'alone and vulnerable'.

Detectives are appealing for information and urging the public to stay vigilant following the series of stabbings in the Edmonton area.

The stabbings come after the 31st murder in London so far this year on Friday - and the 14th in March

One man has been arrested on suspicion of GBH at 10:53am in Fore Street.

Enquiries continue to establish if he is the individual behind these incidents.

DCI Stuart Smillie from North Area Command said: 'The four victims are all from different backgrounds and appear to have been selected at random due to them being alone and vulnerable. There is nothing to suggest this incident is terror related.

'We are working on the hypothesis that the single male suspect is acting alone and mental health issues may be a factor.

'All of the people he has targeted have been walking alone and he has approached from behind without warning.'

A refugee killed by two knifemen who fled to a mosque to escape may have been targeted for his £60,000 watch, a friend claimed yesterday.

Zahir Visiter, 24, was stabbed near his home on Thursday evening shortly after waving off his parents and two younger brothers as they left for the airport for a holiday.

His attackers ran half a mile to the Central London Mosque in Regent’s Park, where they calmly switched clothes and mingled with worshippers before fleeing.

Armed police had sealed off the mosque after the attack at around 6.15pm and could be seen searching stairwells and the surrounding area for the killers.
Witnesses said Mr Visiter, originally from the Russian republic of Chechnya, had been attacked by a nearby canal before staggering back to his estate.
Paramedics performed CPR on him for half an hour before taking him to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A group of hooded thugs ambushed a driver and stabbed him to death through his car window today - in another shocking 24 hours of bloodshed in London.
Police were called to Clapham Park Road in south-west London at around 2.30pm this afternoon, where they found a man suffering from knife wounds.
The victim, named locally as Gavin Garraway, in his 40s, is believed to have driven his black VW polo into a lamp post as he desperately tried to escape three chasing men.
Before, according to witnesses, the thugs approached his vehicle and - after trying to smash the window open with a pair of crutches - stabbed him through a gap.

As rebellious MPs pile pressure on Theresa May to resign, she has reportedly promised chief Brexiteers to step down if they back her troubled divorce plan, according to ITV political editor.
The UK prime minister has just offered to swap her political career for the prospect of the Brexit deal being approved by Parliament, according to ITV political editor Robert Peston.

I am reliably told that Theresa May told Boris Johnson, Iain Duncan Smith, Steve Baker, Jacob Rees-Mogg, David Davis et al at Chequers that she will quit if they vote for her deal, including the backstop they hate.

However, there isn’t “a lot of trust” that May would actually quit, as “she gave no specifics.” Another problem is that even if she persuaded all Tory MPs to support her Brexit plan, she still doesn’t have enough votes for it to pass through Parliament.

Brexiteer Nigel Evans said Monday that a number of Tory lawmakers wanted an orderly replacement of leadership once May manages to get her deal over the line. His comments come after the UK press on Sunday reported that May was facing a coup from angry ministers who want an emergency prime minister installed to see the Brexit deal through.

“Clearly a number of people do not want the prime minister anywhere near the next phase of negotiations which is the future trading relationship between ourselves and the European Union,” Evans told BBC radio.
He added that May should resign if her Brexit deal is rejected by Parliament for a third time, if it goes to a vote later this week.

Evans’ comments were echoed by fellow Eurosceptic MP, Andrew Bridgen.

“I hope that the cabinet will tell the prime minister that the game is up,” Bridgen told Sky News ahead of Monday’s meeting of ministers.
Noting that May had lost the confidence of the parliamentary party, the cabinet, and Tory members across the country, Bridgen called for fresh elections that would see MPs supportive of Brexit elected to the House of Commons. However, he shied away from backing any opposition Labour Party motion that would bring down May’s government prematurely.
