Res. 484[/size][size=16.363636016845703]) to come to the floor of each chamber that [/size][size=16.363636016845703]commends the Falls Church, Dar Al-Hijrah Islamic Center – an organization that has a long history of ties to multiple known and convicted terrorists – including the perpetrators of 9/11.[/size][size=16.363636016845703] And they allowed the resolution to be passed by “voice vote” – so there is no trace of how each legislator acted on the matter.[/size]

[size=16.363636016845703]This unconscionable act rests squarely on the shoulders of the General Assembly’s Leadership who makes the decision about what legislation comes to the floor and how the votes are tallied.[/size][size=16.363636016845703]Shame on them.[/size]

[size=16.363636016845703]Silence on this issue will send the message that outrageous acts like this are O.K. Loud and vocal opposition, however, will send quite another message: [/size][size=16.363636016845703]That this is unacceptable.[/size]

[size=16.363636016845703]We feel the passage of H.J. Res. 484 rises to the level of national attention, because it demonstrates what happens when our elected officials – at best – are uneducated about important issues or – at worst – knowingly choose to commend the enemy in their midst.[/size]

FOUR NEW MEMBERS OF CONGRESS

Today, we have some very good news to report about H. Res. 36, legislation introduced by Rep. Frank Wolf (R-VA) which would create a special congressional committee to investigate the September 11, 2012 Benghazi attack.

As Ronald Reagan famously said, “When you can’t make them see the light, make them feel the heat.” Well, we can tell you that your combined voices on the Benghazi issue are really heating up Capitol Hill!

More and more federal legislators understand that when you say you want a special committee convened to get to the bottom of the Benghazi attack that killed four Americans, including a U.S. Ambassador – you mean business.

Over the last few days alone, FOUR Members of Congress have decided to cosponsor Rep. Wolf’s Benghazi bill, bringing the total number of cosponsors to 184. That’s over 80 percent of Republicans in the House of Representatives! Though this is wonderful progress, we must now redouble our efforts so that Speaker Boehner brings H. Res. 36 to the House floor for a vote.

In addition, former Representative Pete Hoekstra (Chair of the House Intelligence Committee) recently commented to Fox news about the ineffectiveness of having five separate congressional committees investigate Benghazi – as opposed to one, focused, committee. The article, “Rep: GOP Disunity Hurts Benghazi Investigation” is well worth a read.

President Obama is killing serious action on Iran. Don't let him!
Dear Elaine,
The agreement the Obama administration reached with Iran in Geneva was a sucker’s deal that will lead to a nuclear Iran.  In response, fifty-nine senators have co-sponsored S. 1881, critical legislation to put the pressure back on Iran.
On Tuesday night, President Obama announced that if the Senate passes S. 1881, he will veto it. As we write, the president is using all of the power and prestige of his office to pressure Democratic senators to oppose this critical bill.
The President’s threat raises the stakes. A large majority of fifty-nine senators is no longer sufficient. If this bill is to have any chance of passage, we need a veto-proof majority of sixty-seven senators to sign their names to it.
We know the odds are long. It’s not easy to persuade a Democrat-controlled Senate to ignore the pressure of a Democratic president. But we are determined to speak out at this critical hour.

Will President Obama Mention the Benghazi Investigation
in his State of the Union Address Tomorrow Night?

Dear Elaine,

Tomorrow night, President Obama will update the nation on the State of the Union. During this time, he will surely discuss many issues. At ACT! for America, our question is: will he update the American people on the investigation into the September 11, 2012, jihadist terror attack on U.S. diplomatic facilities in Benghazi? Will he announce the imminent arrest of the responsible jihadists? Will he announce the termination of members of his administration who were negligent in their duties?

Senator Ted Cruz, who has introduced S.Res.225, legislation in the U.S. Senate creating a joint House/Senate Committee to investigate Benghazi released a list of five questions that he thinks Americans deserve to have addressed by President Obama during the State of the Union. Question number four is “Will the President call on Congress to form a Joint Select Committee to finally discover the truth of why four Americans perished in a preventable terrorist attack in Benghazi 16 months ago?”

If the administration’s deafening silence of the last year and a half is any indication, the answer doesn’t look promising.

Yet even in spite of the continued stonewalling by both the administration and the U.S. Congress,the American people have continued to vociferously demand answers about Benghazi – and so it has remained in the news. Thank you.

It is therefore critical that we continue to let our federal elected officials know that the American people will not forget the Benghazi attack; we will not forget the four Americans who were brutally murdered that night, including a U.S. Ambassador; and we will not abandon their still grieving families.

Just last week alone, there has been much attention on the Benghazi issue:

Representative Frank Wolf (R-VA), who has introduced legislation creating a short term special congressional committee to investigate the Benghazi attack, once again implored Speaker Boehner via a letter to create a special committee in his chamber. It was a powerful, well-written letter and we think it’s worth a read.
Greg Hicks, the Deputy Chief of Missions under Ambassador Stevens, wrote a compellingop-ed in the Wall Street Journal on the Benghazi issue, in which he responds to the latest attempts to blame the Ambassador for not being prepared for the attack.
Ruth Marcus wrote a column in the Washington Post in which she stated her view that the Benghazi attack was preventable and noting how there has been so little accountability.
New Members of Congress continue to be added to the ranks of cosponsors of Rep. Wolf’s legislation – with over ¾ of the House majority caucus now on the bill.

The Benghazi issue will only be addressed to the satisfaction of the American people when the American people demand it. Our federal legislators ultimately will listen to their constituents if they understand that their jobs are on the line. We are proud to see so many of our grassroots members continue to be vocal on this issue. You are making a difference. Keep it up.

As we lead up to tomorrow night’s State of the Union address, can I count on you to take the very important actions noted below?

September 11^th was a defining moment in America’s history. It changed the way we live as a nation, the way we think, the way we work, travel and the way we define freedom.

For me September 11^th was a defining juncture in my life. It was my defining moment as an American immigrant who lost her country of birth to radical Islam.

It was on this terrible day in 2001 that I realized the enemy I thought I had escaped in my native Lebanon had followed me here to the U.S.

On September 11, 2001, as I looked into the frightened eyes of my young daughters, I pledged to devote the rest of my life to doing all that I can to protect my newly-adopted country, the United States. That day I was reborn as an activist – and ACT! for America was born.

This year, our National Conference and Legislative Briefing will be held September 10^th through the 12^th in Washington DC. This year has a special significance. We will be remembering not one, but two 9/11 attacks on our nation. One in New York and one in Benghazi!

This year, our conference attendees will gather in our nation’s capital to honor the memory of those who were lost, and send a very clear message to our elected officials that national security is a priority that they cannot ignore. This is a time when national security will be in the forefront of everyone’s minds, but especially our elected officials.

The conference will be held at Crystal Gateway Marriott Hotel in Arlington, Virginia – a wonderful venue close to Reagan National Airport, as well as dining, shopping, the Metro, and all of the wonderful attractions that our nation’s capital has to offer.

Dear Elaine,

In a time where courage is a precious commodity on Capital Hill, a Democratic U.S. Senator has set an admirable example of statesmanship in stark contrast to two of her former colleagues.

Senator Diane Feinstein of California, the Chair of Senate Intelligence Committee has sounded the alarm over the escalating threat from Jihadist terrorism and released a report in the pursuit of the truth about the terrorist attack on U.S. diplomatic facilities in Benghazi, Libya, on September 11^th, 2012.

Senator Feinstein’s words and deeds stand in stark contrast to those of former Senators Hillary Clinton and John Kerry, the former and current Obama administration Secretaries of State.

Senator Feinstein recently correctly defined our enemies as a “very fundamentalist jihadist Islamic community” – in a warning that terrorism is on the rise. During a December 1st interview on CNN’sState of the Union with Candy Crowley, Senator Feinstein noted,

I think there is a real displaced aggression in this very fundamentalist jihadist Islamic community. And that is, that the West is responsible for everything that goes wrong and that the only thing that's going to solve this, is Islamic sharia law and the concept of the caliphate. And I see more groups, more fundamentalists, more jihadists, more determined to kill to get where they want to get. So, it's not an isolated phenomenon. You see these groups spread a web of connections. And this includes North Africa, it includes the Middle East, it includes other areas as well.

It took great courage for Senator Feinstein to publicly identify the enemy and describe the basics of the doctrine that underpins their actions. She knew full well that her democratic base will be very uncomfortable with her bold truth about a problem that is devastating our country yet no one wants to identify including the president. Her words were like a breath of fresh air. Few Republicans, much less Democrats, on Capitol Hill have done as good a job of articulating the threat we face from Jihad.

Unfortunately, Feinstein’s former colleague, Secretary of State John Kerry, is not nearly as well informed as she is. He has uttered nothing to indicate that he has any grasp of the enemy threat doctrine and what makes our enemies “tick.”

In fact, just this week, Kerry parroted the long-discredited theory that terrorism is caused by poverty. In remarks delivered during a visit to the Vatican, Kerry proclaimed poverty to be the “root cause” of terrorism.

This isn’t the first time Kerry has regurgitated such nonsense. Speaking at the Global Counterterrorism Forum in the wake of the Jihadist terrorist attack on a shopping mall in Nairobi, Kenya, Kerry called for “providing more economic opportunities” for youth to prevent them from being recruited to terrorism.

Perhaps Kerry has forgotten that Osama Bin Laden was a multimillionaire who left a life of luxury in Saudi Arabia to wage global jihad? Or maybe he forgets that the current leader of Al Qaeda, Ayman al-Zawahiri, was no pauper either. He was a professor of surgery and practicing physician at one time in his native Egypt before he turned to jihad. Then there is current captive Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, who was well off enough to come to the United States to earn a degree in engineering from North Carolina A&T.

There is no actual evidence that poverty causes terrorism. Jihadist terrorism has its roots in the doctrine known as sharia. Jihadists have come to commit acts of terror from a variety of lifestyles, nationalities and socioeconomic backgrounds. There is no evidence to indicate that poverty is a prerequisite for Jihadist terrorism, despite what Kerry says.

In fact, Kerry’s statement shows a profound confusion and naïveté when it comes to the war with which we are faced. Fortunately, Senator Feinstein doesn’t have the same problem that Secretary Kerry has.

In fact, as Chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee, Senator Feinstein has just released a new,bipartisan report on the Jihadist terror attack on US diplomatic facilities in Benghazi, Libya, on September 11^th, 2012, that goes a long way toward dispelling some of the myths surrounding that attack and assigning accountability for what went wrong.

Among the report’s findings:

• The attack was NOT a spontaneous act of violence touched off by a protest in reaction to a video about the prophet Mohammed.

• The U.S. government did not do enough to prevent the attack or protect the diplomatic facilities.

• The Obama State Department had ample warning of a dangerous security situation in Benghazi but failed to take proper action to secure lives and property.

• The Obama intelligence community issued statements after the attack that turned out to be wrong and then was slow in correcting those incorrect statements.

Feinstein’s committee’s candid, accurate report is quite different from the testimony before the Senate delivered by Senator Feinstein’s former colleague, then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, on January 23^rd, 2013. Who can forget the shameful prevarications and doublespeak from Hillary Clinton that day?

But worst of all was this cynical and infamous passage:

With all due respect, the fact is we had four dead Americans. Was it because of a protest? Or was it because of guys out for a walk one night and decided they would go kill some Americans? What difference at this point does it make?

Congratulations to Senator Feinstein for identifying the mistakes for which Hillary Clinton was ultimately responsible and laying out the facts for the American people that Benghazi wasPREVENTABLE, because to us, it DOES make a difference!

Protect America From The Iranian Threat

There is no issue more vital to America’s national security today than the threat posed by Iran:

• Iran has a nuclear weapons program in which it is enriching uranium in defiance of United Nations resolutions and in violation of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.

• Iran has long been acknowledged by the US State Department as the world’s most active terrorist-sponsoring nation, providing support, training, financing and arms to multiple Jihadist organizations, including Hezbollah, HAMAS, Islamic Jihad, and even Al Qaeda.

• Iran was implicated in providing arms to insurgents in Iraq who were battling American troops and has also been identified by US military intelligence as providing arms and assistance to the Taliban forces fighting against US troops in Afghanistan today.

Unfortunately, recent moves by the Obama administration have gone in the direction of easing the economic pressure on Iran by reducing sanctions.

This is a major mistake that will only serve to enrich the terrorist-sponsoring Ayatollahs in Tehran.

The Iranian regime has a long history of dishonesty. Why should America trust the ayatollahs now?

Further, why should we embolden a nation that has clearly articulated its desire to destroy Israel, our closest democratic ally in the Middle East? We should stand by Israel at all times, and the idea of any relaxed sanctions against the Iranian regime, be they temporary or permanent, should be considered an “historic mistake,” as Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu has described them.

Delaying, relaxing, or removing strong sanctions against the Iranian regime will continue the growing perception that the U.S. has become a paper tiger and, further, it will place our most important ally in the Middle East, Israel, in grave danger.

That is exactly where you, ACT! for America’s 270,000-strong members and supporters come in! You have the power to let our elected officials know that national security is important to taxpayers.

Elected officials on the state and federal level commonly tell us that they frequently hear from constituents on “pocketbook” issues but seldom hear from them on security issues, such as the threat of terrorism and nuclear proliferation.

Now is the time to tell your elected representatives in Congress that you want them to remain vigilant to the Iranian threat. Iran must not be allowed to obtain nuclear weapons, and Iran must continue to pay a price for their sponsorship of Jihadist terrorism.

The more time that passes since the September 11, 2012 Benghazi attack that killed four Americans, including a U.S. Ambassador, the more we hear troubling information about it.

For example, just last week the following concerning allegations came to light:

1. Months before the attack, American intelligence knew about a massive al-Qaeda rally during which there were calls for the murder of U.S. diplomats. Further, U.S. intelligence officials circulated not one, but THREE reports within the Departments of Defense, State and multiple intelligence agencies detailing these threats. 2. The attackers knew the location of Ambassador Stevens’ safe room, beforehand. Click HERE for more details.

In addition, a member of the House Intelligence Committee, Representative Devin Nunes (R-CA/22nd) recently sent a letter to Speaker John Boehnerregarding his concerns about Benghazi. His letter included nine important questions that he feels deserve answers and we couldn’t agree more.

Further, in a recent interview with Chris Wallace, Rep. Nunes spoke about his concerns with “discrepancies” between statements of the survivors of the attack and the Administration.

Our enemies are watching as the Administration and the U.S. Congress continue to demonstrate that the Benghazi attack isn’t a high priority. This makes our nation and our citizens more vulnerable, both at home and abroad.

As of today, 178 members of the U.S. House of Representatives (more than a supermajority) have publicly stated their support for the creation of a special committee by signing on as a cosponsor to Rep. Frank Wolf’s legislation, H. Res. 36. Is YOUR Representative on the bill? And if not, why not?

National Park Service promotes Islam

Here’s a question: Why would the National Park Service put out a video promoting Islam – and even worse, promoting false information about Islam?

In the video, Muslim children tell us, among other things, that Islam supposedly granted more rights to women than Western civilization and our Constitution. (Click on the image below and scroll to about the 3 minute mark and watch from there.)

We’re not only fighting radical Islam, the Muslim Brotherhood, its front organizations and its allies.

The National Park Service claims no tax dollars were used to produce the video. Count us as skeptical, but even if that’s true, how is promoting Islam part of the mission of the National Park Service???

The school board passed a resolution declaring the textbook inaccurate and biased, called for a committee to provide material counter-balancing the textbook, and even put an ACT! for America member on the committee!

This year, ACT! for America led the grassroots effort that helped get ALAC (American Laws for American Courts) passed in Oklahoma and North Carolina.

ALAC is a state law that prohibits judges from applying foreign law, which can include sharia law, if doing so conflicts with the Constitution or constitutional rights.

It’s a BIG DEAL. A very BIG DEAL.

If it weren’t, Hamas-connected CAIR, the Council on American-Islamic Relations, wouldn’t be fighting so desperately to stop us.

That makes six states where we’ve led the grassroots effort to pass ALAC – Tennessee, Arizona, Kansas, Oklahoma, Alabama and North Carolina. (Alabama’s ALAC, passed by the legislature, will go to the voters for approval in 2014.)

One year ago in Kansas, a judge refused to use sharia law in a case because of the Kansas ALAC law.

Iran Aggressively Recruiting ‘Invisible Army’ of Latin American Converts to Infiltrate U.S. Through ‘Soft Belly’ of the Southern Border

Iran is recruiting an “invisible army” of revolutionary sympathizers in Latin America to infiltrate the U.S. through the “soft belly” of the southern border, U.S. officials and national security experts told TheBlaze. And they’re using one website in particular to do it.

The Iranian regime’s conversion efforts are becoming increasingly aggressive, especially over the Internet, with the goal of conducting operations against United States interests in the Western Hemisphere, according to U.S. government officials who spoke on the condition of anonymity due to the nature of their work in the region.

Islamoriente.com, which focuses on religion and politics, is one of Iran’s main recruitment and conversion websites for Latin America on the Internet, TheBlaze has learned. The site, which launched in 2008, includes links to Iranian television for Spanish speakers, anti-American news stories, essays on reasons to convert to Islam, chat rooms and a personal message from the Ayatollah Ali Hosseini Khamenei, the supreme leader of Iran.

Even as President Barack Obama waits for Congress to make a decision on Syria, the Iranian website wastes no time and has no shortage of stories ridiculing the U.S. administration for threatening to strike President Bashar Assad’s regime, a staunch ally of Iran.

Jim Phillips, a senior research fellow at the Heritage Foundation and expert in Iranian affairs, said Iran’s focus on Hispanic converts is a new evolution in Iranian operations in Latin America. Phillips said Khamanei’s message titled “The Importance of Work and the Nobility of the Worker” in Islam, is significant because the Ayatollah is “normally a background player in these sorts of efforts and doesn’t usually play such a public role.”

“Historically, Iran has tried to recruit agents from the Lebanese Shi’ite diaspora in South America and West Africa,” Phillips said. ”This emphasis on Hispanic converts is something new.”

In the past, “U.S. intelligence focused on Iran’s relationship with Hezbollah but now with the people they are recruiting it could be much more difficult to gauge who is infiltrating the U.S.,” Phillips added.

In August, the U.S. State Department decided to order a new review of Iranian terror activity in Latin America, based on a 500-page report issued by Argentinian prosecutor Alberto Nisman on Iran’s terrorist strategy in the region. Nisman was the original prosecutor in the 1994 bombing of the Argentine Israelite Mutual Association that killed 85 people and wounded hundreds more. Nisman believes Hezbollah, on orders from Iran, was responsible for the bombing.

The report states that Iran has attempted to infiltrate “for decades, large regions of Latin America, through the establishment of clandestine intelligence stations and operative agents which are used to execute terrorist attacks when the Iranian regime decides so, both directly or through its proxy, the terrorist organization Hezbollah. These actions have been taking place within the so-called ‘export of the revolution,’ which was never masked by Tehran and is, in fact, written in their own constitution.”

Nisman’s report supports the evidence U.S. officials say they’ve found in the region. Iran’s revolutionary guard is focused on Latin America and has ramped up its efforts over the past decade, utilizing the same Internet tools they censor and ban from their own citizens. It is ”part of their effort to build an invisible army to penetrate the U.S. and our interests without suspicion, and it’s something we should be extremely mindful of,” said a U.S. official familiar with Iranian operations in Latin America.

The official said recent Iranian activity in Latin America shows the importance of the region in Iran’s political and ideological goals. Those goals are not only to cultivate anti-American sentiment in the region but also to build a network of support among Latin American converts in positions of power, the official said.

TheBlaze attempted to trace the domain and creators of the server hosting IslamOriente.com but the site is protected by a privacy company based out of the U.S. Attempts to call the number on the website led to a voice recording from a telephone number out of Queensland, Australia, which said that the website is protected byprivacyprotect.org.

According to a 2012 report from the Middle East Media Research Project (MEMRI), a think tank providing translation on video and Internet websites from the Middle East, privacyprotect.org is one among many U.S. companies that are used by Al Qaeda and other nefarious groups use to hide their information. MEMRI also attempted to trace the Iranian website to no avail.

Ayelet Savyon, the director of the Iran desk for MEMRI, told TheBlaze that Iranian activities seem to be focused more on recruiting from the local populations with more sophisticated approaches.

“(Iran) is doing so in all parts of the world with the aim at targeting the U.S. soft belly,” said Savyon, who is based in Israel. “Latin America is a long-term goal for them with direct national security implications for the U.S., and I do think it’s of special interest to the U.S.”

She referred to The Washington Post’s recent report revealing how Iranian embassies in Latin America use cultural attaches to recruit young impressionable students to special conversion programs in Iran.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, who was elected in June to replace the openly anti-American Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, said in a recent public address that his support for Latin America is strong. Rouhani told Vasquez Bucaro, the president of the Central American Parliament and the head of Euro-Latin American Parliamentary Assembly, that he welcomes increased interaction between the two groups and Iran’s legislature to strengthen their relations.

“Just because Iran has a new president, that hasn’t changed their goals,” Savyon said. “They are looking to recruit people who can support Iran’s revolutionary values. Their agenda hasn’t changed, only thing that has changed is the image they are trying to present to the world.”

A U.S. counterterrorism official said Iran’s activities are being closely monitored by U.S. intelligence agencies and “there’s no question that Iran has tried to cultivate ties with some of Latin America’s left-leaning governments.”

“As an element of this strategy, Tehran has mounted a charm offensive that includes using Internet propaganda to influence public opinion in these countries,” he added.

Another U.S. official, who has worked in Latin America for more than a decade, said Iran has dedicated a large number of resources to recruiting and converting people in Mexico, who have easier access to the U.S. border and can easily blend in with other migrants crossing the border.

In 2009, six U.S. officials confirmed in an earlier investigation conducted by this reporter that the designated terrorist group Hezbollah, which is supported by the Iranian government, had been using the same narcotics routes used by drug cartels into the U.S.

That has not changed but now “Iran’s goal is to recruit people that can be utilized against U.S. interests” and blend in without raising suspicion, the U.S. official said.

Hezbollah is based in Lebanon and was founded after the Israeli invasion of Lebanon in 1982. It has grown into a major political, military and social welfare organization, which is controlled and financed by Iran and in 2006, it fought a 34-day war against Israel.

Hezbollah members and supporters have entered the U.S. through the southern border as early as 2002, with the case of Salim Boughader Mucharrafille, a Mexican of Lebanese descent. He was sentenced to 60 years in prison by Mexican authorities on charges of organized crime and immigrant smuggling. Mucharrafille had owned a cafe in the border city of Tijuana, near San Diego. In 2002, he was arrested for smuggling 200 people into the the U.S., including Hezbollah supporters, according to a 2009 Congressional report.

In 2005, Mahmoud Youssef Kourani, the brother of a Hezbollah chief, pleaded guilty to providing material support to Hezbollah after being smuggled across the U.S.-Mexico border and settling in Dearborn, Mich.

“Now what they desire is a proxy terrorist group that can easily slip past U.S. border security,” the U.S. official added. “Who’s going to suspect an illegal immigrant from Venezuela, Mexico, or anywhere else for that matter, of being a jihadist?”
