ERDOGAN ORDERS SWEEPING ARRESTS OF OPPOSITION JOURNALISTS
Those arrested have been charged with forming a terrorist organization and trying to seize control of the state.
Two days after Turkey’s Islamist President Recep Tayyip Erdogan hinted at a crackdown against the “evil forces” of his rival Fethullah Gulen, Turkish police embarked on a comprehensive operation to arrest prominent journalists, producers, scriptwriters and even police chiefs allegedly aligned with Gulen.

The arrests came close to the one-year anniversary of an enormous scandal that was predicted to bring down Erdogan, who was the prime minister then. In that operation, politicians, businessmen, the sons of three of Erdogan’s ministers and others in Erdogan’s inner circle were accused by police of corruption.
At the time, Erdogan responded by firing thousands of police officers, police chiefs and members of the judiciary and his government survived. Opposition figures said that the latest series of arrests were the second stage in routing out supporters of Gulen, a powerful imam living in exile in the U.S.

SYDNEY ATTACKER: 'MAN OF PEACE'
Sheikh Haron was dropped from Australia's terrorist-watch list, maybe because of manipulative semantics he used to appear non-threatening.
BY RYAN MAURO Thu, December 18, 2014
The perpetrator of the hostage-taking in Australia, an Islamist known as Sheikh Man Haron Monis, was shockingly dropped from the country’s terrorist-watch list sometime after 2009. It is unknown why this happened but it may be attributable to the manipulative semantics he used to appear nonthreatening, utilizing a common Islamist strategy.
Haron pledged allegiance to the Islamic State (ISIS) last month, an act that should have immediately resulted in his placement on terror-watch lists and surveillance. Presumably, his website was not being monitored despite his lengthy criminal record, widely known extremism and history of 40 to 50 allegations of sexual indiscretions.

US APPEASEMENT OF IRAN, CUBA, N. KOREA SHOWS TERROR WORKS
It can take decades to reverse the damage caused by appeasement. Our enemies should never be allowed to attack us without regretting it.
BY RYAN MAURO Thu, December 18, 2014
Sony cancelled their movie "The Interview" after their computer system was hacked by North Korea, causing tremendous damage and threatening terror attacks if the company went ahead with the movie that was due to be released December 25.
Islamist terrorists and governments have learned in recent months that terrorism (especially cyber warfare) works, thanks to the appeasement of the U.S. government and Hollywood.

There are three acts of appeasement that happened, with two occurring on December 18.
1. Appeasing Iran’s Cyber Warfare
First, cyber attacks from Iran have been going on for months without any meaningful response. In addition, Iran continues to assist Al-Qaeda and the Taliban, thereby making the regime responsible for the deaths of American soldiers in Afghanistan.
The Cylance cyber security firm published a report concluding that Iranian hackers have attacked critical infrastructure and government agencies in 16 countries since 2012. The Iranian campaign may be linked to North Korea’s own campaign that is dominating headlines in the U.S.
“[Iran’s] intense focus on critical infrastructure companies, especially in South Korea, hints at information sharing or joint operations with Iran’s partner, North Korea. In September, 2012, Iran signed an extensive agreement for technology cooperation with North Korea, which allows for collaboration in a variety of efforts including IT and security,” it states.

Call in Congress to Sanction Turkey, Qatar for Terror Support
Being a U.S. ally does not absolve a country of its responsibilities. Failure to sanction Qatar and Turkey sends a powerful message to these terror sponsors.
BY RYAN MAURO Thu, December 11, 2014
A bipartisan group of two dozen members of Congress have written a letter to the U.S. Treasury Department asking for sanctions on Turkey and Qatar, supposedly two U.S. “allies,” for their support of Hamas and other Islamist terrorists (Click here to see a copy of the letter).

“Any entity or nation that continues to back this U.S.-designated Foreign Terrorist Organization [Hamas] and provides it material and financial support should be sanctioned…We also request specific public updates on Treasury’s discussions with the Qatari government on previously designated, Qatar-based terrorist financiers that the Qataris have yet to act upon,” the letter requests.

Turkish Support for Terrorism
Turkey was chastised for allowing Hamas leader Saleh Al-Arouri to oversee the group’s terrorist network in the West Bank from the area. It says that Turkey is giving safe haven to Hamas operatives and Hamas-linked companies, charities and banks. Hamas has an entire infrastructure set up in Turkey.
This network oversaw the murder of three Israeli teenagers this year, attempted to attack a soccer stadium in Jerusalem and tried to overthrow the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank. The Palestinian leadership confirmed Israel’s accusation that Hamas is using a headquarters in Turkey.
The members of Congress also mentioned the presence of a Hamas-linked charity named the Humanitarian Relief Foundation (IHH) in Istanbul. Clarion Project reported this foundation’s close ties to the AK Islamist party ruling Turkey and how it openly registered human shields for the Hamas-run Gaza Strip during Hamas’ latest round of attacks on Israel.
The Clarion Project has repeatedly documented Turkey’s support for Islamist terrorism and extremism. Only a few weeks ago, the Islamic State attacked the Kurds in Syria from within Turkish territory.
President Erdogan often repeats the extremism and conspiracy theories of his Muslim Brotherhood allies.
Shortly after the Brotherhood claimed that the Islamic State is part of an American conspiracy against Islam, Erdogan warned that the West was following in the footsteps of Lawrence of Arabia and deploying spies to pose as Arabs. He said these spies are trying to dominate the Middle East by “hiding behind freedom of press, a war of independence or jihad.”
The Islamist propaganda from Turkey and incitement of anti-American and anti-Israeli sentiment has corresponded with a rise in anti-Semitism in the country.
A study by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI) concluded that “anti-Semitism is an accepted part of the government discourse.” Media, political and educational figures regularly defame the Jews as a people and link them to virtually every problem and atrocity in the world.
In a fit of anger at Turkish citizens protesting against the government (after a severe mining accident), Erdogan himself insulted one demonstrator by calling him an “Israeli sperm.”
A Turkish polling company found that 30,926 tweets in support of the Holocaust were sent out in a single day between July 17 and 18.
Erdogan’s worldview was partially inspired by an anti-Semitic Islamist philosopher named Nurettin Topcu. The Turkish National Student Union, which Erdogan belonged to, looked to Topcu as an intellectual leader. Erdogan continues to say that Topcu is among the most important Turkish thinkers in history.
In addition to supporting terrorism and extremism, Turkey’s corruption and rolling back of basic freedom should disqualify it as a member of NATO. A Freedom House study published in February warned that Turkey’s government is undermining the country’s democracy.
In November, Vice President Biden visited Turkey. He praised the country as an “ally” but noted Turkey’s shift away from democracy. He said, “Our founders [of the U.S.] concluded that a concentration of powers was the most corrosive thing that can happen to any system.”
Turkey’s corruption rating in Transparency International’s annual report was one of three countries whose ranking fell the furthest, with the other two being China and Angola. Even a major sharia scholar is criticizing Erdogan’s party for corruption.
Qatari Support for Terrorism
The letter by the members of Congress cited the testimony of Treasury Department Undersecretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence David Cohen to expose Qatar’s duplicity. The letter mentioned Qatar’s $400 million gift to the Hamas government in the Gaza Strip in 2012 and financial support for extremist Syrian rebels including ones linked to Al-Qaeda.
It points out that Khaled Mashaal, the director of Hamas’ political bureau, has safe haven in Qatar without any apparent restrictions. It was widely reported that Qatar threatened to deport him if he agreed to a ceasefire with Israel that was proposed by the government of Egypt, an enemy of Qatar.
On September 24, the U.S. Treasury Department sanctioned multiple fundraisers for Al-Qaeda and the Islamic State with links to Qatar.
Tariq Bin-Al-Tahar Bin Al Falih Al-‘Awni Al-Harzi is a senior Islamic State commander known to have raised $2 million from another Islamic State operative in Qatar.
Al-Harzi also led the Islamic State’s foreign operations and hatched a plan to kill a commander of U.N. peacekeepers in Lebanon. He has been described as the Islamic State’s “Emir of Suicide Bombings.”
Ashraf Muhammad Yusuf Uthaman Abd al-Salam is an Al-Qaeda operative who has moved thousands of dollars from Qatar to Al-Qaeda in Pakistan. He works with an Al-Qaeda financier in Qatar named Khalifa Muhammad Turki al-Subaiy who is also sanctioned by the U.S.
Umar al-Qatari works with Al-Qaeda and was arrested in Lebanon in 2012 transporting thousands of dollars to Qatar. Al-Qatari has directly participated in attacks on U.S. troops in Afghanistan and works with Al-Qaeda’s pipeline in Iran.
When he was arrested, he said he had $20,000 from a “Qatari sheikh” and was due to meet with the cousin of the Qatari Foreign Minister. This cousin was found guilty in absentia of financing Al-Qaeda after Lebanon released him under heavy Qatari pressure. It was reported that Qatar said it would kick out all 30,000 Lebanese citizens in its country if Lebanon did not meet its demand.
Clarion Project has reported extensively on Qatar’s sponsorship of terrorism and Islamist extremism. The neighboring countries of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain withdrew their ambassadors from Qatar over its support of the Muslim Brotherhood. The Egyptian and Libyan governments have likewise accused Qatar of backing Islamist terrorism.
The Qatari Foreign Minister defended its support of the Muslim Brotherhood by saying, “We cannot say everyone who is an Islamist is a terrorist.” However, the Brotherhood’s non-violent presentation is a complete facade and Egyptian President El-Sisi emphasizes that it is indistinguishable from Hamas and shares the ideology of the Islamic State.
Qatar is financing influential American think-tanks at the same time that it funds Islamist radicals. The country has become a backbone for Salafists. One Salafist charity, named after a former emir of Qatar, is described as the most powerful Salafi charity in the world and it operates under the oversight of the Qatari Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs.
Qatari influence has been instrumental in securing Islamist domination of the Syrian rebels.
Syrian opposition forces yet again tried to organize into a new coalition. Yet, when over 70 groups came together in Turkey, the Islamists, including the Ahrar al-Sham force linked to Al-Qaeda and Qatar, won 10 of the 17 leadership positions.
One of the more moderate figures involved complained, “The covenant itself doesn’t mention the idea of free elections and most of the groups represented in the executive office don’t believe in the original democratic values of the revolution.”
Yet, the U.S. continues to involve Turkey and Qatar in the vetting, training and arming of Syrian rebels.
The Qatar-Turkey-Muslim Brotherhood Bloc
The Middle East has divided into three blocs: A Shiite one led by Iran; the Qatar/Turkey/Muslim Brotherhood one and the Sunni Arab states opposed to both.
There is some overlap between the first two because both Iran and the Muslim Brotherhood support Hamas. The Iranians and Hamas are healing their relationship at the same time as Turkey and Iran are trying to move past their differences over the civil war in Syria.
Sudan, a state sponsor of terrorism, is also close to both. The Iranians have long shipped arms to Hamas through Sudan. The Qataris recently signed a military cooperation agreement with Sudan.
The resurrection of the caliphate is a chief objective of all Islamists, especially the Muslim Brotherhood. The Turkish government’s neo-Ottoman aspirations should be taken in this context.
The neo-Ottomanism of President Erdogan is becoming more pronounced. On October 13, Erdogan attacked the legitimacy of the borders drawn after World War One and said the perils of the Middle East did not exist under the Ottoman Empire.
Even though he said the region is “waiting for Turkey” to bring peace and stability, he stated that he’s not calling for the removal of national borders. However, Erdogan did say that Turkey “must build the mental and intellectual infrastructure for transformation” and “we will lift the borders by World War One in our hearts and in our minds.”
Erdogan also recently tried to make Turkish high schools require students to learn the Ottoman language. The National Education Council rejected his proposal on December 6. It suggested instead that the subject be offered as an elective.
The third bloc of anti-Brotherhood/anti-Iran Sunni Arab countries is embracing Russia and China as alternatives to the U.S. because this bloc is furious with the U.S. policy of appeasement towards Iran and the Muslim Brotherhood. (America severely criticized the Egyptian government for its crackdown on the Muslim Brotherhood and political Islam.)
Jordanian King Abdullah, like Egypt and the United Arab Emirates, is reframing the discussion of terrorism to be based on ideology. He says there is a “civil war within Islam.”
The Muslim Brotherhood and moderate Arab blocs are fighting a proxy in Libya. The country is divided between Islamist and secularist governments and militias.
Turkey is politically supporting the Islamist-backed General National Congress that lacks international and popular legitimacy. The media outlets controlled by Erdogan’s party consistently deride the secular leaders.
The Libyan secularists accuse Qatar of arming the Islamist militias, as well. Sudan has also armed the Islamists. The Qataris and the Muslim Brotherhood have assisted Islamist power-grabs in Libya since the Gaddafi regime first faced a rebellion. This caused the instability that has allowed the Islamic State to conquer the city of Derna.
Conclusion
The U.S. needs to place greater value on what it means to be an “ally.” This group of two dozen Democratic and Republican members of Congress should be commended for recognizing the reality that allies can become enemies.
If the U.S. does not sanction Turkey and Qatar, then they will continue to support Islamic extremists and terrorism with impunity.

Woman Jumps Off Cairo Bridge to Avoid Sexual Harassment
After being pursued by a man who was harassing her, a 19 year-old girl jumped to her death in the Nile river to avoid a possible acid attack.
Wed, December 10, 2014
Egyptian human rights organizations called for an inquiry into the death of a girl in the center of Cairo who jumped from a bridge into the Nile River in order to avoid being sexually harassed and possibly burned with acid.

The organizations also demanded an investigation into the police officers involved in the case, who portrayed the girl’s death as a suicide.
One eye witness, Michael Armanios, a student of language and translation in a private university, told MBC (Middle East Broadcasting Corporation) that as he was walking, he saw a girl running from a man who was harassing her and trying to grab her. Suddenly, said Armanios, she jumped from a bridge into the Nile river.
Armanios gave chase with a group of people, caught the man and found that he was carrying acid with which he was likely intending to throw on the girl.
Other eye witnesses denied that the man was carrying acid, but confirmed reports that she was being pursued by a man who had tried to touch her and had been following her for a half an hour.
Two men jumped into the Nile to try to save the girl, who has been identified only as Samya H., age 19. Video footage shows Samya slipping out of the arms of one of the men until she can be seen no longer above water. Armanios said it took an ambulance an hour to arrive on the scene.
Samya’s father said he heard about his daughter’s death through the media, which reported it as a suicide. While at the prosecutor’s office, he heard another version of the event and said it is still not clear to him what exactly happened. He emphasized that his daughter did not suffer from mental problems or depression.
A human rights initiative called “I Saw a Harassment” released a statement saying that, after monitoring media reports of the event which included eye witness testimony, it was clear that the girl jumped off the bridge to escape from a man who was pursuing her.
The organization accused the police of distorting the facts by falsely claiming that she committed suicide due to personal problems and called for an investigation into the police officers.
“Everyone in the government is responsible for this catastrophe. Everyone is responsible and everyone is negligent. Women and girls in Egypt are subjected to sexual harassment and violence every day in public transportation, in the workplaces and in the halls of the universities. Even little girls are exposed to sexual violence,” the organization said in a statement.
Six political parties in Egypt are planning to hold a press conference today to address the increased levels of sexual violence in the country and how state institutions are responding.
According to a recent UN report, more than 99 percent of women in Egypt report that they have experienced some form of sexual harassment – at work, at home or on the street -- ranging from verbal assaults to rape.
Historically in Egypt, victims of sexual harassment and rape are often belittled and, in the worse cases, sexually abused by the police themselves.
In addition, since the victims – both those dressed in hijabs and those without --are continually blamed for “provoking” the attacks, the shame felt by victims prevents them from reporting attacks.

SAUDI RESTAURANTS BEGIN BANNING SINGLE WOMEN
Various restaurants around the kingdom have objected to 'shocking' behavior which includes flirting, smoking and using a mobile phone.
In another blow to women’s rights in the desert kingdom, Saudi Arabian restaurants have begun to ban single women from entering their premises. The ban has also been extended to  women not accompanied by a male guardian.
Signs in various restaurants around the kingdom have begun popping up announcing the ban. Restaurant owners claim that women in restaurants have been behaving in “a shocking way,” according to one blogger who supported the ban.

IRANIAN ACTIVIST SENTENCED TO DEATH FOR POSTS ON FACEBOOK
Soheil Arabi has been sentenced to death on charges of 'sowing corruption on Earth' and 'insulting the prophet' over Facebook posts he made.
Thu, December 4, 2014
The Supreme Court in Iran has rejected an appeal by an Iranian blogger sentenced to death for 'insulting the prophet' to spare his life. Soheil Arabi, aged 30, was arrested alongside his wife in late 2013. Although his wife was later released, Soheil was sentenced to death for comments made on Facebook pages that he operated.  The case was heard by the Supreme Court on November 24. On December 1, deputy head of the judiciary gave a statement in response to a question about the case at a press conference. Gholam Ali Mohseni Ejei said "Currently, there is no pardon, and he’s been convicted of ‘corruption on Earth,’ but there has been a request for his case to be reviewed again."

Soheil Arabi's lawyer said that the 'corruption on Earth' charge, which also carries the death penalty, had been added by the Supreme Court when they heard the case. He told Human Rights Watch that even according to the Iranian penal code this was unlawful.

TWO SAUDI WOMEN ACTIVISTS ARRESTED FOR DRIVING AT BORDER
Two women's rights activists have been arrested in Saudi Arabia for a protest against the ban on women driving.
Two female women's rights activists have been detained by Saudi Arabia at the border from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for a protest against the kingdom's ban on women driving.
Saudi celebrity and human rights activist Loujain al-Hathoul, aged 25, attempted to drive a car across the border from the UAE. She was arrested at the border and detained along with fellow activist Maysa al-Amoudi. Both women have valid UAE driving licenses.
According to Human Rights Watch, al-Hathoul drove from Abu Dhabi in the UAE on November 30 but was stopped once she reached the Saudi border. She was forced by border guards to remain in her car overnight and her passport was confiscated. On December 1 fellow Saudi activist Maysa al-Amoudi drove to bring al-Hathoul supplies whereupon both activists were arrested and transferred to prisons inside Saudi Arabia.

The White House has rejected a request to label the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist group, describing the group as non-violent. The statement is not only at odds with known facts; it’s at odds with statements made by the White House only one year ago.
The White House statement came in response to a petition with 200,000 signatures citing the Brotherhood’s history of violence and how its preachers, particularly Sayyid Qutb, have bred multitudes of terrorists. Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates recently banned the Brotherhood as a terrorist group.

ISLAMIC STATE HIJACKS EGYPTIAN NAVAL MISSILE SHIP
Egypt’s former head of naval intelligence General Yosri Kandil called the attack a “quantum leap for terrorism.”
In a first-ever attack by the Islamic State against Egypt, an Egyptian missile ship was hijacked after coming under fire by four smaller ships manned by Islamic State terrorists. The attack took place near the northern end of the Suez Canal, about 40 nautical miles north of the port of Damietta, at dawn.
After staging a car accident in the canal and making it look like the Egyptian vessel was the cause, Islamic State fighters were able to board the Egyptian vessel and commandeer it into the open seas. The target of the hijacked ship – which was transporting 200 Egyptian military personnel to the northern Sinai -- was to be Israeli ships and gas rigs located further north.
According to Arab media, the terrorists also planned to kidnap Israeli personnel and use them to bargain for the release of Palestinian prisoners.

AMERICAN ISLAMISTS ARRESTED IN FERGUSON BOMB PLOT
A belief that the U.S. gov't is evil is the common thread between the plot by the two Islamist New Black Panther Party members and Islamist ideology.
Two Islamic extremists have been arrested in connection with a bomb plot in Ferguson as Islamists stoke the flames. The pair belongs to the New Black Panther Party.
Separately, two Americans have been charged (one arrested) for links to the Islamic State (ISIS). Authorities also revealed that an American who was arrested last month for trying to join the Islamic State had tried to bring his teenage siblings along with him.

RAHEEL ON JOHN BATCHELOR: EVERY AMERICAN’S DUTY TO SPEAK OUT ON VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN
One the heroines in Honor Diaries, Raheel Raza, was invited to speak to John Batchelor, show host of the popular John Batchelor show on November 20.  During the show, Batchelor touched on a very interesting and frequently mentioned point:
How can the average American – who does not come from the sort of “exotic” or foreign culture that many typically associate with honor violence – deal with the issues of honor killing, female genital mutilation, or child marriage, when it is so non-PC to criticize? After all, Americans are encouraged not to judge, not to look at people whose ways are different and make negative determinations.

Islamists Exploit Ferguson Riots to Promote 'Resistance' in U.S.
While CAIR officials encourage 'resistance,' ISIS is urging rioters to murder and behead police and political figures.
The Islamic State (known by the acronyms of IS, ISIS or ISIL) is exploiting the ongoing violence in Ferguson, Missouri over a grand jury’s decision not to indict a police officer for shooting and killing an 18-year old African-American.

The Islamic State members are taking to social media to encourage encouraging rioters to murder and behead police and political figures. One high-profile Islamic State operative said the group would send fighters to Ferguson if the rioters pledge allegiance to its caliph. In a hand-written note, the operative said:
“We hear you and we will help you if you accept Islam and reject corrupt man-made laws like democracy and pledge your allegiance to Caliph Abu Bakr… and then we will shed our blood for you, and send you soldiers that don’t sleep, whose drink is blood and their play is carnage!”

TURKEY: EPIDEMIC OF MURDERS OF WOMEN SEEKING DIVORCE
A new kind of honor violence against women has emerged in Turkey: the murdering of women seeking divorce from their husbands.
Last month on an Istanbul street, Hulya Cadirci, a 28-year old mother in the middle of divorce proceedings, was stabbed to death by her 40-year old husband in front of their child. Hulya’s murder is the latest in the 287 cases that have been documented by a Turkish human rights and advocacy group “We Will Stop Women Murders.”
Many of these cases were women seeking divorces; most were murdered in honor crimes by husbands or family members.
The numbers are already up from last year’s, when the group documented 238 such cases, including that of Muhterem Gocmen, a 30-year old mother of two seeking a divorce from here abusive husband Serdar.

A senior official of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), Nezar Hamze, repeatedly denied the existence of Department of Justice documents tying CAIR to the Muslim Brotherhood. Hamze made the remarks during a televised debate with Clarion Project National Security Analyst Ryan Mauro on NewsmaxTV’s “MidPoint with Ed Berliner.”

The topic of the debate was the designation of CAIR as a terrorist organization by the Muslim government of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Hamze, Regional Operations Director of CAIR-Florida, argued that there’s no evidence that CAIR is linked to the Muslim Brotherhood or Hamas and is a moderate organization.
Mauro presented as proof Department of Justice documents that establish a firm connection between CAIR and the Muslim Brotherhood, an organization designated by several countries as a terrorist group.

RUTHLESS EXECUTION OF CAPTIVE SYRIAN PILOTS IN NEW ISLAMIC STATE VIDEO
Sun, November 16, 2014
To compound the viewers' horror, the video shows brutal footage of a group of Syrian pilots being beheaded by the group.
Syrian soldiers being led to their death by Islamic State jihadis. The jihadi pictured above is suspected to be Nasser Muthana, 20, a medical student from the UK.
The Islamic State (ISIS) released a gruesome 15-minute video to announce the beheading of former American soldier Peter Edward Kassig, 26, who was kidnapped by jihadis after travelling to Syria as an aid worker.

Titled “Although the disbelievers dislike it,” the video deviates from previous Islamic State beheading videos where the viewer is shown the kneeling victims reading a scripted text. In contrast, a severed head, apparently that of Kassig, is shown on the ground in front of the British beheader only in the last minute of the video.
In that minute, the familiar beheaderThe British beheader of Peter Kassig

BLOODY PROXY WAR IN LIBYA: QATAR & TURKEY VS. UAE & EGYPT
BY ELLIOT FRIEDLAND Tue, November 18, 2014
The Libyan civil war is yet another battleground for the conflict between secularists and Islamists that is engulfing the MENA region.
Fresh clashes broke out in the Libyan capital Tripoli on Sunday, forcing the city's airport to close down. Mitiga airport has functioned as Tripoli's primary airport since Tripoli International Airport was damaged and ceased to operate in August.

The clashes are merely the latest outbreak of violence in a rapidly worsening civil war that is serving as a proxy war for the region's wider conflict. The United Arab Emirates and Egypt back General Khilafa Haftar and an alliance of secularist and nationalist forces opposed to what the al-Arabiya Institute for Studies terms "the Qatari-Turkish axis supporting regional political Islam."
Libya has descended into civil war since May 16, when General Hafter launched what he termed 'Operation Dignity' against an alliance of Islamist militias. He led a patchwork of militias and Libyan army units in an assault on the Islamist stronghold of Benghazi, which was repulsed. After that, however, army units and secular and nationalist militias flocked to his banner, while Islamists of varying stripes ranged against him.
Included in the ranks of the Islamist militias are Ansar al-Sharia, the terrorist group widely suspected to be responsible for the 2012 Benghazi attacks on the US consulate that killed US Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other US officials. The Islamist forces also include the Libyan Muslim Brotherhood.

THE ISLAMIC STATE SEEKS THE BATTLE OF THE APOCALYPSE
The Islamic State's latest video is directly challenging America to the battle of the apocalypse, which is to take place in Dabiq, Syria.
The gruesome video released by the Islamic State (ISIS or ISIL) emphasizes that the beheading of Peter Kassig took place in the town of Dabiq, Syria. The town was chosen because of its significance in Islamic end-of-time prophecies about the time when the Mahdi and (the Islamic version of) Jesus will bring victory over those who oppose sharia.

The Islamic State named its English-language magazine “Dabiq” for the same reason. The group is telling Muslims that it is fulfilling prophecy, enticing them to participate in one of the most important moments in world history.
A secondary message is that Islamic State supporters should not worry about the military superiority of their enemy or the terrorist group’s setbacks because they will soon be made victorious with help from the Mahdi, Islam’s messianic figure, and Jesus (when he joins Islam, which he will according to Islamic prophecy).
“Here we are, burying the first American Crusader in Dabiq, eagerly waiting for the remainder of your armies to arrive,” says one Islamic State speaker.

A new law proposed in Iran would make walking, owning or selling a dog a crime punishable by 74 lashes and a fine of 10 to 100 million rials ($370 to $3,700). Violators could also be arrested.
Although the bill was proposed by 32 hardline MPs, many of 290 members of Iran’s Majles (parliament) are conservatives who sympathize with the hardliners.
The target of the bill appears to be young people as well as wealthy Iranians who are drawn to imitate Western culture. Even though coming into contact with dogs (especially the mucous membranes) is considered najis (unclean) in Islamic law, dogs are kept as pets by some Iranians.  Most owners keep their dogs inside, but some – from the more affluent neighborhoods – can be seen walking their dogs outside, raising the ire of the Iranian morality police.

Jaha hopes to raise awareness and fight FGM: she wants to debunk the myth that FGM happens only in far-off countries; rather it is a very real and current issue also in the United States. Although FGM is illegal in the USA, many find ways of carrying out this practice either through secret procedures or by smuggling girls overseas to undergo the procedure.

100 Years After WWI, Turkish Leaders Nostalgic For Empire
Recent remarks made by Turkish leaders suggest they still hold the attitude that Turkey is the natural hegemon of the region.
BY ELLIOT FRIEDLAND Mon, November 10, 2014
This Armistice Day (November 11) marks the 100 year anniversary of the World War I which saw the collapse of the 700 year old Turkish Ottoman Empire. Yet on Friday (Nov. 7) Prime Minister Ahmet Davotuglu spoke of Turkey's Ottoman colonial territories as if they still belong to them arguing that "Al-Quds [Jerusalem] has been entrusted with us by [Muslim caliph] Hazrat Omar. Al-Quds has been entrusted to us by [Ottoman Sultan] Yavuz Sultan Selim and [Ottoman Sultan] Süleyman the Magnificent. Al-Quds has been entrusted to us by the last soldier of the Ottomans."

Jerusalem was captured by the British in 1917 along with Turkey's other imperial possessions in Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Jordan and Syria. The division of the empire by the victorious powers created the modern map of the Middle East.
After the war the only victorious Ottoman general, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, created modern Turkey out of the Anatolian heartland of the empire (Ataturk means 'Father of the Turks) and invented a new Turkish nationalism on which to base the identity of the new country.
As part of his reforms he formally abolished the Ottoman Caliphate on March 3rd 1924.
This event marked the first time in Islamic history that there had been no caliph. It had a profound emotional effect on Muslim identity and group consciousness worldwide.
The tension between the secularist forces imposed by Ataturk that have been dominant in Turkish society since the 1920s and the resurgent Islamism of Turkey's President Tayyip Recep Erdogan and the AKP party is the primary fissure in Turkish political culture today.  Erdogan's Islamist ideology landed him in prison in 1998 when he was given a 10 month prison sentence for reciting a poem which included the lines "The mosques are our barracks, the domes our helmets, the minarets our bayonets and the faithful our soldiers." The secularist judiciary held it to be "inciting religious hatred."
Turkey has since begun to re-evaluate its Ottoman history, led by the now ruling Islamist AKP party. In a speech in mid-October 2014, Erdogan evoked his 'neo-Ottoman' outlook, blaming modern day 'Lawrences of Arabia' for Turkey's woes in the region, referring to T.E. Lawrence, the British liaison to Arab leaders during WWI. He said: "Lawrence was an English spy disguised as an Arab. There are new voluntary Lawrences, disguised as journalists, religious men, writers and terrorists."
When asked what he thought of allegations that he was a "neo-Ottoman" by Time magazine in 2011, Turkish President Tayyip Recep Erdogan said "We were born and raised on the land that is the legacy of the Ottoman Empire. They are our ancestors. It is out of the question that we might deny that presence. Of course, the Empire had some beautiful parts and some not so beautiful parts. It’s a very natural right for us to use what was beautiful about the Ottoman Empire today."
Erdogan's Islamism has cost him on the international stage. His close links with the Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas have severely damaged Turkey's relationship with Egypt, where general turned president Abdel Fattah el-Sisi is busily engaged in crushing any visible signs of the movement.
The Turkish Humanitarian Relief Foundation (IHH), heavily linked to Erdogan's AK party, was involved in recruiting and funding for the Muslim Brotherhood affiliate Hamas, damaging Turkey's previously warm relationship with Israel.
Following Erdogan's speech at the UN attacking Egypt,  President Sisi blasted Turkey's pro-Muslim Brotherhood stance saying that Ankara was "keen to provoke chaos to sow divisions in the Middle East region through its support for groups and terrorist organizations."
In something of an Ottoman cultural revival in Turkey, the most popular television show is called Magnificent Century, a soap opera about the court of Suleiman the Magnificent, regarded by many as the high point of the empire.
In 2009 Erdogan even opened a museum commemorating Sultan Mehmet's 1453 conquest of Constantinople. He has also presided over a far broader beatification campaign in Istanbul, seeking to restore the erstwhile imperial capital to something of its former glory, neglecting the republican capital of Ankara. An attempt to bulldoze trees at Taksim square in order to make room for the reconstruction of Ottoman era barracks prompted widespread protests against his increasingly corrupt and authoritarian rule.  The move was seen by many as an attempt to wash away the secular legacy of Ataturk.

Returning to Lawrence of Arabia, it is easy to see why Erdogan chose that reference. Lawrence's role was to precipitate the Arab revolt against Ottoman rule, aiding Western powers in dethroning Turkey from its place as the leader of the Middle East and the caliph as spiritual leader of the Muslim world.

His neighbors certainly regard Erdogan as 'neo-Ottoman'. Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad was quoted as saying "he [Erdogan] personally thinks that he is the new sultan of the Ottomans and he can control the region as it was during the Ottoman Empire under a new umbrella. In his heart he thinks he is a caliph."

PAKISTAN: CHRISTIAN COUPLE BURNED ALIVE ON BLASPHEMY CHARGES
A young couple was burned alive by a mob in Pakistan for what appears to be trumped up charges of blasphemy over a monetary dispute.
A young couple, Shahbaz Maseeh, 26, and his wife Shama Bibi, 24 -- parents of four small children and another on the way, was burned alive by a mob in Pakistan for what appears to be trumped up charges of blasphemy.

Relatives of the couple say that the real issue was a monetary dispute involving the couple’s employers.
After a local mullah made a public ruling that the couple was guilty of blasphemy by throwing out pages of a Quran, a mob of about 500 people – included Muslims from neighboring villages -- began forming.
Relatives of the couple say the entire family was threatened and everyone began to flee, including children who have still not been accounted for days later. The couple had planned to flee with their young children as well, but were left with no time to do so.

MUSLIMS TOLD TO FOLLOW ORDERS ON VOTING BY D.C. MUSLIM CAUCUS

The D.C. Muslim Caucus is getting negative press attention for telling Muslims they are required to vote as their leaders tell them to. A spokesperson justified the stance by referencing international Islamists.

A press release issued by the D.C. Muslim Caucus endorses a list of candidates in Washington, D.C. and instructs Muslims to vote against a ballot measure that would legalize small amounts of marijuana for non-medical use.
“According to Islamic tenets, Muslims participating in democratic elections are obligated to vote as a bloc based upon a consensus of the Muslim community,” the October 27 press release states.
The core message is that Muslims should not trust themselves to vote correctly and are required by their faith to reject political independence. It doesn’t matter how much you know and how much passion you have, the judgment of leaders like the D.C. Muslim Caucus is trustworthy and yours is not.
The D.C. Muslim Caucus’s at-large director Talib Karim displayed his Islamist orientation by referencing Islamists to the Washington Post when asked about his group’s position requiring Muslims to vote as a bloc.

SAUDI ARABIA ARRESTS PROMINENT FEMALE HUMAN RIGHTS ACTIVIST
Suad al-Shamari, co-founder of the Saudi Liberal Network along with Raif Badawi, is being held in a Jeddah prison, on charges of insulting Islam.

A prominent human rights activist has been arrested by Saudi Arabia on charges of insulting Islam. Suad Hamour al-Shamari, an advocate for women’s rights and the co-founder of the Saudi Liberal Network along with Raif Badawi, is being held in a Jeddah prison, according to a tweet sent out by Badawi’s wife.
Two other human rights activists, who requested anonymity, confirmed the arrest and accused Saudi authorities of engaging in a campaign to silence all dissent.
"This is the accusation they make against anybody defending human rights," said one of the activists.
Saudi Arabia has a history of detaining and convicting liberal activists ranging from human rights lawyers to demonstrators.
Amnesty International, a London-based human rights watchdog group, said that Saudi authorities "have sought to stamp out all critical voices demanding peaceful reform."

LIFE OF FEAR AND DARKNESS FOR WOMEN UNDER ISIS
Daily life for women under ISIS includes crushing laws and the fear of being kidnapped, sold or married to a jihadi
The Islamic State (ISIS) recently published their new requirements for women in Raqqa, the northern Syrian city which serves as their unofficial headquarters.

According to Abu Ward al-Raqqawi, one of the founders of the human rights group “Raqqa is Being Slaughtered Silently,” women are now forbidden to leave their homes unless they are wearing a dara, an additional covering worn on top of the niqab (face veil) and chador (a loose, long black cloth or coat that envelops the body from head to toe).
The niqab and chador were imposed on women by the Islamic State when the group initially took over Raqqa in August of 2013.

ERADICATING FGM – DEFINING THE BATTLE STRATEGY
While female genital mutilation (FGM) has been illegal in the United States since 1996, our legal system has zero prosecutions to show for it. Meanwhile, France has over 100.
France- 100. US- 0. Does this ‘score’ mean France is winning?

While female genital mutilation (FGM) has been illegal in the United States since 1996, our legal system has zero prosecutions to show for it. Meanwhile, France has over 100.
The lack of prosecutions indicates the law criminalizing FGM is not being enforced, as experts estimate that over 200,000 girls are at risk and the practice is rampant among immigrant communities. Brave survivors are coming forward to speak about the clandestine cutting that goes on within the U.S., right under our noses.

U.S. BROTHERHOOD GROUP MOURNS DEATH OF TERROR LEADER
Islamic Circle of North America was the first to publicly mourn the death of the Jamaat-e-Islami leader who was convicted of 61 counts of war crimes. The Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA) is again showing its affection for the radical Jamaat-e-Islami group of Pakistan and Bangladesh, a group that it derived from. ICNA was the first to publicly mourn the death of a Jamaat-e-Islami leader and to defend his record, eliciting harsh criticism from some Muslims online.
Jamaat-e-Islami is essentially a branch of the Muslim Brotherhood. Both are Islamist groups with a history of support for terrorism and who intend to use electoral means to implement Sharia governance. Bangladesh is prosecuting Jamaat-e-Islami leaders for war crimes committed during the country’s 1971 war for independence from Pakistan.

VIDEO: FATHER HELPS ISIS MILITANTS STONE DAUGHTER AS PER SHARIA
A young Syrian woman, accused of adultery, was sentenced to be stoned to death. Her father zealously helped carry out the death sentence.

Islamic State militants in Syria stoned to death a young woman who they had accused of committing adultery.
According to the Arabic language news site Al-Arabiya, the stoning took place in the eastern part of the Hama province. A gruesome video of the execution was published by the media sources of the Islamic State (see below).
The video shows the victim’s father standing next an Islamic State member while facing his daughter. Using a pleasant, gentle tone, the militant explains to the woman that she is being punished for the crime of adultery.
The Islamic State member then asks the father if he’s willing to forgive his daughter. The father refuses adamantly. Turning to his daughter he adds, “I’m not your father.”
The militant again tries to convince the father to forgive his daughter before she is stoned to death, but he refuses. The daughter pleads with her father to forgive her, only to be told by him, “Don’t call me father.” In the end, the father only agrees to say, “Allah will forgive.”
The video then shows the central militant from the Islamic State turning to the woman and saying, “My sister, I want to tell you a few words. You are about to receive a punishment that Allah commanded.”
He then turns to the Muslim men, telling them that they should not leave their wives for more time that is allowed according to (Islamic) sharia law.
The woman is then covered in a blanket, with her face left exposed. Her father ties her arms at her waist and then led her to a pit. He proceeds to tie her legs together after which the Islamic State militants, together with the father, start pummeling her head with large stones.
At this point the image is blurred by the Islamic State’s video editor, however the act of the stoning can still be seen.
Towards the end of the video, music -- added by the Islamic State’s editors – accompanies the scene of the father hurling, at point blank range, one stone after another at his daughter’s head.
Warning, very graphic, disturbing images

Exclusive – Vicar of Baghdad: ISIS Cells Already in Baghdad
Because of the imminent danger, Canon Andrew White was ordered to leave Baghdad. He says ISIS has planted cells that are already operating there.
Mon, October 6, 2014
The Vicar of Baghdad, Andrew White, has fled Iraq on the orders of his superior, the Archbishop of Canterbury, who felt it was too dangerous to stay in the city with the Islamic State (ISIS) closing in.

“ISIS has plants in Baghdad. That's why the archbishop wanted us gone. The other day, they discovered 150 bodies of people who had been shot. Nobody knows who did it, but we know that ISIS is already operating in Baghdad,” said White in an exclusive interview with the Clarion Project.
White spoke to Clarion about the rise of the Islamic State in Iraq, the fate of the kidnapped Christian and Yazidi women and children, and the prospects for the future.
Vicar Andrew White
He related how, just recently, the Islamic State burst into the house of one of “his families" and offered the parents a choice: “Convert right now or we will kill your children in front of you.” They came to White heartbroken that they had uttered the required words to save their children.
Another day, they went to a different family. White remembers, “The kids were told to convert or be killed. They refused. There were four of them from 15-years old and younger. They beheaded all of them,” he related crying. “They were all our children. That is how evil these people are. So evil. They have no respect for anyone. The other day, they chopped a four-year old boy in half. He didn't do anything. What can a four-year old boy do? He was just a boy …"
White, 50, is an Anglican vicar from London and president of the Foundation for Relief and Reconciliation in the Middle East, an aid and advocacy group that works for peace between different religious groups in the Middle East. The foundation, which has 260 centers around the world, has worked with Nigerian Christians and Muslims, Israelis and Palestinians and different groups in Germany.
White arrived in Baghdad in 1998. That same year, he was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) but stayed nonetheless. Saddam Hussein was still in power and the international sanctions had created crushing poverty in the country. Even though gas was one cent a liter (less than four cents per gallon), the normal monthly salary was $2.
White described life under Saddam as one of constant fear. “Everyone was in fear of everyone else. But you could walk around, live your life normally,” he remembers. “It was just like life behind the Iron Curtain, nobody knew who they could trust. Secret police were everywhere.”
Yet, he says, Saddam was very good to the Christians, and there was very little persecution of Christians or other minorities during his reign. Saddam was a Sunni, a minority in Iraq, so he needed the other minorities to help him maintain power.
Immediately after the Second Gulf War and the deposing of Saddam, “There was jubilation,” White remembers. “Everybody was happy. They were free at last. When the statue [of Saddam] was brought down, everybody thought there was hope for their future.”
Yet the jubilation lasted only about six months. As the Sunni and Shiites began vying for power, corruption became rampant. The Americans had set up the Coalition Provision Authority (CPA) to rule the country with representation from Sunnis, Shiites and minorities.
“After a year and a half, the CPA left Iraq and handed over the Iraqi government [to the Iraqis]. Shiites, for the first time ever, became the controlling force,” White relates. “There was never was any real tension beforehand, but as things developed, the tensions got greater and greater. We also saw corruption from those taking power. The Shiites came to power through the Dawa party. That started the tension with the Sunnis.”
One of White’s firm beliefs is that “terrorism is always started when somebody loses power.”
White says that the Sunnis felt marginalized by the Shiites, creating an open door for Al Qaeda, which quickly moved into Iraq. “The Americans controlled the checkpoints, and they let them in out of naivety -- really naïve,” recalled White.
Terrorism increased. But while the Americans were there, White said, there was still some degree of order. Once the Americans pulled out, “Everything went wrong. I said to my team, look, within three years, we will have massive terrorism.”
White says that the Islamic State developed because former Iraqi President al-Maliki did not give the Sunnis a serious role in the government. “The Sunnis felt really marginalized and, in the end, they created Sunni opposition movements -- first with Al Qaeda, and then they developed their own group, ISIS.”
Even the Kurds helped the Islamic State originally, White explained. “This had to do with the separation of Kurdistan from Iraq. The Kurds are Sunnis. Nobody knew how evil ISIS would be, nobody knew how terrible they would actually be.”
When asked why the Iraqi army has been so ineffectual in fighting the Islamic State, White said, “The Iraqi army is not very competent. The Americans spent years training them, but they didn't really take anything on board.”
The future, he says, is “very, very bleak.” The Iraqis from Baghdad who had the funds have left the country. Another 250,000 Christians in Mosul and Ninevah have been ousted from their homes, most likely never to return.
“Basically, apart from the south, ISIS controls Iraq until you get to Kurdistan. They are the richest terror group in the world. They have taken huge amounts of money from the banks and are making huge amounts of money selling oil. What is so awful is they have taken huge amounts of our girls, and they have sold them,” he said. “The other day, we spent the day figuring out how much money we needed to buy the girls back. Basically you are looking at $5,000 per girl.”
Unlike the impression one gets in the media, White says, the Islamic State is not selling the Christian and Yazidi women to make money. For the jihadi fighters, their price is next to nothing. But to buy them back, they want a lot of money.
“The problem,” says White, “is that there is no way that we, as Westerners, can do anything. We have to do it all through Arab men.”
He confirmed all the reports about the horrific treatment of the girls. “It’s all true. It's terrible. They are basically making them into slaves. Sex slaves and working slaves, and it's not just adults either. It's also children.”
White spoke about the “extreme evil’ of the Islamic State, what gives rise to such evil and what attracts people to such evil. “The nearest thing to this is like what happened in the Holocaust. It's not as bad as that, even though it's terrible. Nothing was as bad as that. But just as we saw pure evil with the Nazis, with these people we see pure evil. When people feel they have lost everything, they will turn to terrorism to try to show their power. How do they show their power? By showing evil.”
White says that the young Europeans who have joined the group are filling a vacuum created by a lack of religion. “You can't do away with religion,” he says. When that happens, even Muslims who are not extremists can become extremists, he contends. “Their faith is so important to them, and they believe that the Western world is against them, that they don't want them, and so they become more extreme.”
White plans to return to Iraq as soon as possible. “But for the time being, I will have to go back to Irbil (in Iraqi Kurdistan). Irbil is very safe, compared to everywhere else.”

Yet, he acknowledges, “Nowhere is very safe over there.”

TURKEY'S KNEE-DEEP INVOLVEMENT WITH ISLAMIST TERRORISTS
For the sake of human rights and the fight against Islamist extremism, the West must accept that the Turkey of today is not the Turkey that was. The Turkish parliament is considering authorizing military action against the Islamic State (also known as ISIS or ISIL) in Iraq and Syria. The U.S. will welcome such a development, but it must not forget Turkey’s previous support of Al Qaeda in Syria, deal-making with the Islamic State (ISIS), hosting of Hamas terrorists and embrace of the Muslim Brotherhood.

ISIS Within 1 Mile of Baghdad, Escape Routes Closed
"They said it could never happen and now it almost has." said a spokesman for a Baghdad aid group, who says the Iraqi army is unprepared to battle ISIS.
Thu, October 2, 2014
Islamic State (ISIS) fighters are only one mile away from Baghdad, Iraq's capital, according a spokesman for the Foundation for Relief and Reconciliation in the Middle East, a Christian aid group.

"They said it could never happen and now it almost has. Obama says he overestimated what the Iraqi Army could do. Well, you only need to be here a very short while to know they can do very, very little," said the spokesman.
In an interview (see video below), Canon Andrew White, a veteran of Baghdad and leader of the foundation, said that the U.S. airstrikes had proven to be ineffective against the Islamic State and that, unfortunately, they had merely killed civilians. Ground troops are needed, he said to defeat the Islamic State.
Canon himself has been provided with over 30 security guards –some of them soldiers from the Iraqi Army -- due to the danger that he faces.  When asked if he had faith in the Iraqi army, Canon laughed.
He explained, “I’m laughing because I said to one of my soldier guards today, ‘If ISIS were coming towards you, what would you do?’ He said, ‘I would take off my uniform.’ [I asked,] ‘Why are you in the army then? Why are you a soldier? What are you doing? Aren’t you protecting us?’ He said, ‘No, I’m in it because I need the money.’”
When asked if people are planning to flee the city, Canon said, “The problem is there isn’t much opportunity. If you go by car, you go by the central part of the [country], which is now under ISIS control. If you try to fly out, that isn’t easy because, for example, the first flight that I can get is on Monday.”
Meanwhile, 50 miles northwest of the capital, Islamic State militants besieged an Iraqi army base, trapping between 240 and 600 army personnel inside. A number of soldiers from the Albu Aytha base escaped before the militants arrived.
Fifty miles due north of Baghdad, an Iraqi tribe in the Jubar neighborhood of the Sunni Arab town of Dhuluiyah has held out under a two-week attack by Islamic State fighters. Jubar was highly involved fighting the precursor to the Islamic State in 2005-07 (when the Islamic State was affiliated with Al Qaeda). Those Sunni tribal forces were backed the U.S.
Tribal leaders have asked for more help from the U.S.-led coalition, specifically airstrikes, which they say will help disperse the jihadists.
Earlier this week in Mosul, an Islamic State stronghold Samira Salih al-Nuaimi
Samira Salih al-Nuaimi
in Iraq, the jihadi group tortured and executed a prominent human rights activist and lawyer for critical remarks she made against the group on Facebook. Samira Salih al-Nuaimi took issue with the group for destroying monotheistic religious sites, including mosques and the tombs of Daniel and Jonah.

Islamic State militants abducted al-Nuaimi from her house and tortured her for five days before having a firing squad execute her in the middle of the city.
“By torturing and executing a female human rights lawyer and activist, defending in particular the civil and human rights of her fellow citizens in Mosul, ISIS continues to attest to its infamous nature, combining hatred, nihilism and savagery, as well as its total disregard of human decency,” said Nickolay Mladenov, the UN envoy to Iraq, in a statement.
In what is thought to be a targeted campaign against female activists, two more women lawyers in the Mosul area are also feared to have been abducted by the Islamic State, as they have been reported missing for over a week.
In Syria, Islamic State fighters beheaded seven men and three women in the northern Kurdish area of Ayn Arab, a town close to the border with Turkey. Five of those beheaded were reported to be Kurdish Peshmerga fighters, including three women. Pictures on social media showed the women’s heads on display in the Islamic State stronghold city Jarablous in northern Syria.
Kurdish fighters have been battling the Islamic State in the area of Kobani for the last two weeks. High casualties have been reported in that battle.
Also in Syria, the Al Qaeda-affiliated jihadi group, Jabhat al-Nusra, is reportedly entering into an alliance with the Islamic State. Despite previous fighting between the two groups, they may be joining forces to combat the American-led coalition.
Threatening retaliatory action against the U.S. and it allies, Al-Nusra’s spokesman, Abu Firas al-Suri, said, “These states have committed a horrible act that is going to put them on the list of jihadist targets throughout the world.”

“This is not a war against al-Nusra,” he added. “But a war against Islam.”

UK: LEADING SOURCE OF FEMALE JIHADISTS IN SYRIA AND IRAQ
As many as 60 Muslim women between the ages of 18 and 24 are believed to have left Britain to join ISIS during the past 12 months alone.
Many of the women seem to be motivated by the hope of finding a jihadist husband, analysts say, apparently because they covet the cultural and religious "prestige" conferred upon Muslim widows whose husbands have died as "martyrs" for Allah.
Until recently, most of the British women affiliated with IS have been restricted to performing domestic chores such as cleaning and cooking. Lately, however, some women have become restive and have demanded a greater role in the IS enterprise.

ISIS Releases 'Flames of War' Feature Film to Intimidate West
After releasing the trailer last week, the Islamic State released the full film -- a gory, bravado flick showcasing their ruthless tactics in Syria.
BY RYAN MAURO Sun, September 21, 2014
A screen shot from 'Flames of War.' The American narrator of the film is on the far left.
True to its promise, the Islamic State terrorist group released a 55-minute video (see below) narrated by an operative in Syria with an American accent.  At the same time, Al-Qaeda has released a new video (see below) featuring an American recruit named Adam Gadahn calling on Muslims to pursue regime change in Pakistan.

The Islamic State video is far above the Al-Qaeda video in terms of production. The 55-minute film, titled Flames of War, is professionally edited and highlights the Islamic State’s seizure of the Syrian Army’s 17th Division base near Raqqah.
Footage is shown from the attack and then the film shows an Islamic State fighter near the base speaking in fluent English with an American accent. Captured Syrian soldiers are shown digging their own graves. One claims that 800 of Assad’s troops were at the base and were defeated by only 20-30 Islamic State members. The captives are then shot point blank and shown gruesomely falling in the ditches.
Flames of War uses the narrator to explain the Islamic state's version of the events, namely, that they are merely trying to establish god's law on earth but are being attacked by Assad, the Americans, the West and various other foes.
The film utilizes romantic imagery carefully crafted to appeal to dissatisfied and alienated young men, replete with explosions, tanks and self-described mujahedeen winning battles. Anti-American rhetoric provides the voice-over to stop motion and slow motion action sequences. The use of special effects such as bullet-time is interspersed with newsreel footage.
This up-to-date, sophisticated cinematography combined with the bloodthirsty message the film makes Flames of War reminiscent of Hitler propagandist Leni Riefenstahl's 1935 film, Triumph of the Will.
The film finishes with a written statement from Islamic State “Caliph” Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi referring to the U.S. as the “defender of the cross.” The message appears to indicate that the group believes U.S. combat forces will be sent to Iraq.
“As for the near future, you will be forced into a direct confrontation, with Allah’s permission, despite your reluctance. And the sons of Islam have prepared themselves for this day, so wait and see, for we too are also going to wait and see,” it says.
The new Al-Qaeda video with Adam Gadahn is simple and only features a lecture from him. The contrast between the two videos is a microcosm of how Al-Qaeda has faded into the background as the Islamic State has risen and is winning the next generation of jihadists.
Gadahn is from California and converted to Islam in 1995. He moved to Pakistan in 1998. He has been acting as an Al-Qaeda spokesman since 2004 and is often called “Azzam the American.”
The name of Gadahn’s newest video is, “The Pakistani Regime: The Agent of the Devil.” The Pakistani military began an offensive in North Waziristan, a terrorist stronghold, in June. A senior Pakistani Taliban commander was just killed in the fighting.
It is undated, but Gadahn mentions the Iraqi government led by Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, dating it to before August 15 when al-Maliki resigned. Gadahn last appeared in a video in March confirming the death of Abu Khalid al-Suri, the official liaison between Al-Qaeda chief Ayman al-Zawahiri and terrorists in Syria.
The focus of the new Al-Qaeda video is to urge Muslims to topple the Pakistani government and attack its military and intelligence services in order to replace it with a “just and prosperous Islamic state.” He preaches that Muslims are to follow Taliban leader Mullah Omar as their emir.
Gadahn tells the audience that only overthrowing the Pakistan government can prevent invasions by India and China, the dismantling of its nuclear weapons arsenal and the dividing of the country into several states. He states:
“The fastest way to achieve regime change in Pakistan is to target American and other Western and Zionist interests on our soil and theirs and besiege their diplomatic compounds and enclaves until the occupiers go back home where they belong.”
By “occupiers,” Gadahn is referring to any foreign presence that impedes the creation of an Islamic state with sharia governance. The native Muslim population that opposes such a goal would be branded as apostates, carrying the punishment of death.
Although Al-Qaeda is urging jihadists to focus on Pakistan, Gadahn singles out the government of Saudi Arabia as the “biggest Western tool of them all.”
Gadahn’s video comes at a time of increased concern about an Al-Qaeda attack on the West because of a special unit it has established in Syria named Khorasan.
It consists of top operatives from Pakistan that were trained by Ibrahim al-Asiri, an operative from Al-Qaeda’s branch in Yemen called Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula. He is known for inventing bombs that can penetrate airport security by hiding them in underwear and ink cartridges. It was previously reported that al-Asiri had switched allegiance to the Islamic State.
CBS News reports that intelligence sources described al-Asiri as “the most innovative bomb-builder in the jihadist world.”
The Khorasan operatives were sent to Syria with the specific objective of recruiting jihadists with Western passports so they can potentially get onto airliners and blow them up.
One commonality in the two videos is that both groups preach that battlefield success is proof of Allah’s approval. The Islamic State video, for example, says “Allah helps you and grants you victory” and repeats that point several times.
"Allah is with his believers and it is he who directs the RPG grenade, punishing the enemy with the hands of the Mujahadeen," the film states.
If battlefield successes indicate Allah’s approval, then battlefield defeats must indicate Allah’s disapproval or even divine judgment. That is part of the reason for the Islamic State’s rise and Al-Qaeda’s decline.
Understanding this doctrine can help the West undermine the enemy’s support. Jihadists can spin their setbacks and tell supporters that Allah rewards patience, but it is hard to convince audiences that Allah is on your side if you repeatedly suffer defeat. If moderate Muslims reinforce that doubt, then the group’s troubles increase exponentially.

IRAN IMPRISONS BRITISH WOMAN FOR TRYING TO WATCH MEN'S VOLLEYBALL
After attempting to enter a men's volleyball game, a 25-year old British-Iranian woman has been jailed for more than two months in the notorious Evin prison.
A British-Iranian woman, arrested more than two months ago for trying to attend a volleyball game, continues to be held in Tehran’s Evin Prison.
Ghoncheh Ghavami, 25, was originally detained along with a group of women who were protesting an Iranian law which forbids women from watching men play volleyball. A similar law banning women from watching male soccer matches was instituted after the Iranian Islamic revolution in 1979. In 2012, the law was extended to include volleyball games.
Ghavami was released from the original custody on June 20, but when she went back a number of days later to collect her belongings, she was re-arrested and put in the notorious prison known for holding – and torturing – political prisoners and journalists. Rape and other sexual violations are frequently used as methods of torture by guards at Evin prison.

MUSLIM AMERICAN ORGS. MUST CONDEMN ISLAMISM NOT JUST ISIS
Leaders of US Muslim Brotherhood-linked organizations have condemned ISIS, but they have failed to condemn the Islamist ideology itself.
BY RYAN MAURO Wed, September 17, 2014
The Muslim-American community, including organizations with radical histories, swiftly and unequivocally condemned the Islamic State terrorist group (formerly and commonly known as ISIS). These statements are welcome, but they need to go further and challenge the Islamist basis of the group and those like it.
The vast majority of condemnations of the Islamic State focus on its violent tactics and not its belief that Muslims are commanded to wage jihad to build an Islamic state, i.e. a government based on Islamic law (sharia). Nor is its belief that Muslims must rebuild a caliphate being confronted.
President Obama is being criticized for stating that the Islamic State is “not Islamic.” The understandable objective was to avoid depicting the campaign against the Islamic State as a war on Islam, but the obvious truth is that the Islamic State is following an interpretation of Islam. Many Muslims feel it is an incorrect interpretation, but it is still an interpretation.

JORDAN: 17-YEAR OLD KILLED BY FATHER FOR PICKING OWN HUSBAND
Perpetrators of honor crimes are protected by Jordanian law, which makes allowances for “the use of mitigating reasons for assault crimes.”

In fact, Weila and Ahmed had secretly already married. At the height of one of the arguments, when it became apparent to Weila that she would never convince her father to change his mind, Weil left the house, taking refuge at a neighbor’s.
Her father followed. He knocked on the door, and Weila answered. Can we speak in private, he and asked? Weila agreed. But speaking was not on Weila’s father’s mind. In the kitchen, he took out a shotgun and pumped two bullets in Weila’s mouth and two in her heart.

NO EXAGGERATION WHEN IT COMES TO FGM
Two years ago, I was on a panel discussion with a focus on violence against women. I mentioned female genital mutilation (FGM) and its heightened prevalence, how thousands of girls are at risk every year in the United States to undergo this atrocious act.
“You’re exaggerating.”
I froze. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. My stand for this issue was completely shot down, dismissed, and ignored. Here is a supposed panel for activism and women’s rights, yet the most vicious act of violence that is perpetuated upon women, girls, and infants was deemed irrelevant. Was FGM too sensitive to talk about? Do people really think it doesn’t happen? What about the thousands of victims that suffer in silence without a platform to voice their experiences?
Fast forward to the here and now. Female genital mutilation has finally received the much needed attention for advocacy, education, and awareness.

THE CLARION PROJECT
5 REASONS WHY THE US COALITION AGAINST ISIS IS AN EMPTY SHELL
BY ELLIOT FRIEDLAND Thu, September 18, 2014
For all the 'activity' of the 26 countries in the coalition, there has been remarkably little offered in the way of concrete support.
U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry waits for the start of a Gulf Cooperation Council and Regional Partners meeting in Jeddah September 11, 2014. Kerry pressed Arab leaders to support U.S. President Barak Obama's plan for a military campaign against Islamic State militants. (Photo: © Reuters)
As U.S. jets pounded Islamic State positions north of Baghdad this week, diplomats pondered their options in Paris. U.S. President Barack Obama has stressed the importance of a collaborative global effort to combat the Islamic State (commonly known as ISIS and ISIL) which has been rampaging across much of Iraq and Syria, slaughtering as they go.

The president said, “American military power is unmatched, but this can't be America's fight alone.” He want to build an international coalition which will come together to “degrade and destroy” the Islamic State. But based on the reactions of international leaders, he has yet to receive any concrete commitments to take an active part in the military campaign against the Islamic State.
Representatives from 26 countries attended a conference in Paris on Monday to discuss the planned coalition. The conference included diplomats from Western counties,  including the United States, France, the United Kingdom, Germany and Canada as well as the EU representative. Arab countries including Iraq itself Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Qatar, and the UAE attended, as did the Arab League representative. The presence of Russia, China and the United Nations underscored the global nature of the threat posed by the Islamic State.
The representatives issued a joint, 10-point statement condemning the Islamic State, expressing their full support for the new Iraqi government and their grave concern at the rapidly deteriorating human rights situation in Iraq. They also committed themselves to joining “appropriate military action” in support of the Iraqi government.
For all this activity, there has been remarkably little offered in the way of concrete support. Here are five reasons why forming a committed coalition willing to donate troops has proven so difficult:

1. Arabs and Muslims Do Not Trust America
U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry visited Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Egypt in an effort to build much-needed support for the coalition among the U.S.’s key regional allies. Although he reported encouraging conversations, none of these three counties agreed to commit troops. Leaked reports from an anonymous Western diplomatic source said “there is a very real possibility that we could have the Saudi air force bombing targets inside Syria.” However, no such possibility has yet been made public.
Arab and Muslim nations regard Western policy, in general, and American policy, in particular, with great suspicion. One commentator on Al-Arabiya called the coalition “late, weak and badly planned” but still “better than nothing.” Middle East analyst Khaled Abu Toameh writing for the Gatestone Institute said that most reactions from Arab Muslims on joining the US led coalition against the ISIS was that, “This is not our war and we should not be fighting it.” They regard Obama’s foreign policy as vacillating and unreliable and not truly committed to the fight. They also blame America for creating the situation that led to the rise of the Islamic State in the first place, because of the 2003 Iraq war and the support for Nouri al-Maliki's divisive government in the aftermath of that conflict.
In addition, Egypt’s government regards the U. S. as a Muslim Brotherhood ally that is not committed to fighting Islamists. Toameh argues that President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi will never forgive Obama for supporting the Muslim Brotherhood.

2. Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Qatar Actively Support Jihadists
Saudi and Turkey are both Islamist states with much to lose by being associated with an American-led coalition to destroy the Islamic State. Saudi Arabia is worried about an internal uprising should it pursue an alliance with America against a group fighting for a very similar brand of Salafi Islam to its own state-sponsored Wahhabism.
Thousands of Saudis are serving in the Islamic State in all sorts of positions, and the Saudis have arrested recruiters for the Islamic State within its borders.
Turkey is slightly different, having been far more active in aiding the Islamic Sate and Sunni jihadists. Turkey's porous border with Syria serves as a conduit for fighters, supplies and money headed to serve the needs of the self-declared caliphate.
Oil from the Islamic State is smuggled the other way, from Syria into Turkey. A former U.S. Ambassador to Turkey said in the Wall Street Journal that Turkey is a “non-ally” that has been funding and arming Jabhat al-Nusra. Erdogan has stated that Turkey will provide only logistical and humanitarian support against the Islamic State and take no aggressive action whatsoever.

3. Conflicting Loyalties in the Syrian Civil War Make Unity Difficult
Assad has been an ally of Russia for years, to a large extent due to the Russian naval base at Latakia. Russia will not join any U.S.-led coalition without the involvement or support of Assad. Sunni and Western allies, on the other hand, will not be part of any coalition that does support Assad. Public opinion and government policy prohibit any action in Syria that could inadvertently help President Bashar al-Assad. Obama’s promise to arm the moderates leads to the question of who exactly those moderates are. The majority of the forces aligned under the banner of the Free Syrian Army have been destroyed or have defected to other groups. The remnants openly cooperate with Islamist factions such as Jabhat al-Nusra and the Islamic Front. Finding an existing non-Islamist rebel army to support at this stage will be very hard.

 4. The EU Does Not Want to Get Involved

Western countries other than America are perfectly happy for America to bear the lion’s share of the cost, trouble and fallout for any Western involvement. Feared backlash from Muslim populations are part of the reason why European countries do not want to get involved in what is now a regional Middle Eastern war.
France and Britain, in particular, have large Muslim minorities and have had serious problems with home-grown terrorism in the past. Europe is in the grip of austerity measures, and there is intense domestic pressure to reduce spending. France’s budget is already triple what the government predicted it would be, and thus has little appetite for further expenditures.
Britain is still scarred by the war in Iraq, which faced fierce opposition. Any attempt by Prime Minister David Cameron to put “boots on the ground” will face accusations of pandering to American adventurism. Furthermore the British parliament voted against conducting airstrikes against the Assad regime last year in a stunning rejection of the idea of liberal interventionism.
It is symptomatic of a viewpoint increasingly common – that the current Middle East conflict, however terrible, is none of Europe’s business and that involvement in any capacity will only make things worse. This attitude was succinctly summed up by Guardian columnist Giles Fraser, who wrote, “We are witnessing a shift in the political tectonic plates throughout the whole of the Middle East and beyond into Africa, and the west’s apparently surgical involvement will probably do little more than generate some short-term satisfaction that we are doing something. It is not that I am morally squeamish about bombing IS fanatics. Rather, I think we ought to recognise that we are little more than bystanders to a war that is so much bigger than we ever imagined, and so much more complicated than the rhetoric of terrorism or limited conflict allows.”

 5. No One Wants to Risk Their Own Soldiers

France has agreed to join U.S.-led airstrikes, but not to send ground troops. The UK may join airstrikes but may not. It certainly will not be sending ground troops. The only country so far to commit openly to sending troops is Australia which has already begun sending 600 soldiers to Iraq. They will be performing a variety of roles including logistical support, providing strategic and military advice assisting in training, and Super Hornet aircraft. No frontline combat soldiers were included in the contingent.
When taken holistically, the coalition seems to consist of the battered remnants of the Iraqi army and the Kurds bolstered by Shiite militia groups sponsored by Iran. U.S. and French air strikes -- and a firm commitment from the United States, France and Britain not to put their own troops on the ground -- are so far the extent of Western intervention.

It seems that everybody wants the Islamic State destroyed, but nobody wants to have to do it themselves.  The coalition is fraught with mistrust before the campaign even begins.

UK Ignored Sexual Abuse of 1,400 Girls by Muslim Gangs
A report details the extent of abuse in Rotherham from 1997 to 2013 and how officials ignored it for fear of being called racist.
Sun, August 31, 2014
A report released last week has sent shockwaves through the British establishment, after revealing that 1,400 girls from the town of Rotherham in South Yorkshire have been sexually abused by "grooming gangs" of Pakistani Muslim men since 1997, while the police and social services looked on.
The girls, some as young as 11, were raped many times by multiple assailants, trafficked to other towns and cities in the UK and threatened with extreme violence if they failed to comply. Victims were doused in petrol and threatened with being set alight if they refused to cooperate.

ISIS: 'COOL' IMAGE WINNING OVER NEXT GENERATION OF JIHADIS
Al Qaeda is out. The Islamic State is young, cool and successful -- ironically utilizing the same Western culture it is out to destroy.
The Arabic paper Al-Mayadeem reported the death at 11:35am local time. Abu Hajer el-Souri was described as "the right hand of al-Baghdadi."
The Islamic State is winning over the next generation of Sunni jihadists for two main reasons: Success and “coolness.” Many Islamic State supporters are foul-mouthed, highly sarcastic rappers and gamers who mesh their Islamist ideology with their affection for Western culture.
None of this is what comes to mind when you think of jihadists, who usually express hatred for Western culture, viewing it as a corrupting influence.
If current trends persist, Al-Qaeda will become known as “your father’s terrorist group,” an organization that has gone out-of-style.

New ISIS Video, Photo Show Beheading of Kurd & Lebanese
The Islamic State continues its strategy of instilling fear by publishing videos and photos depicting beheadings.
Thu, August 28, 2014
WARNING: SOME OF  THE IMAGES IN THIS ARTICLE ARE GRAPHIC

The Islamic State (IS), more commonly known as the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), has just released a video showing a Kurdish fighter being beheaded and other Kurdish prisoners and photos of a Lebanese soldier it beheaded. It has also announced that Ansar al-Islam, an Al-Qaeda affiliate, has pledged allegiance to the IS leader.
The new video, called “A Message in Blood to the Leaders of the American-Kurdish Alliance,” was released and shows 15 Kurdish prisoners in orange jumpsuits, a reference to Islamist terrorists held by the U.S. at Guantanamo Bay. One of them is later executed in front of the Grand Mosque in Mosul, Iraq.
The executed prisoner is shown next to photos of Kurdish and American officials together. The video cuts away as the IS terrorist begins beheading him. It then shows his severed head on his body.
The video is meant to depict IS as having victory over the Kurdish Peshmerga. It features footage of a Kurdish soldier in a ditch surrendering and captured Kurds in military uniforms. The beheading is followed by film of a long convoy of vehicles with IS fighters.
IS supporters are making an effort to depict the group as humane and just. Several tweeted that the Kurdish prisoners are being well-treated in accordance with Sharia.

IS has also released photos showing the execution of a Lebanese soldier it captured. This comes shortly after it released a video showcasing seven captured Lebanese troops. An IS affiliate in Lebanon claimed to hold an additional four soldiers. The video said they’d be executed if Hezbollah did not leave Lebanon.
One of the purposes of the video is to distort reality. The Peshmerga, with the assistance of the U.S. and Iran, has recaptured the dam of Mosul, potentially averting a humanitarian disaster threatening millions of Iraqis. The Kurds recently recaptured an oil and farming center south of Irbil. They have also formed all-female units as an expression of feminism. IS terrorists burned three oil wells as they were forced into retreat.
IS supporters are also distributing photos purporting to show that Ansar al-Islam, an Al-Qaeda affiliate in Iraqi Kurdistan, has pledged allegiance to IS and its declared caliph, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

The coverage of this latest propaganda must not advance the IS agenda. IS wants to create the impression of victory and demoralize its Kurdish enemies. The media is obligated to point out that these latest announcements come as IS is facing setbacks at the hands of fellow Muslims aligned with the U.S.

In a chilling report, a filmmaker from Vice News who embedded himself for a number of weeks with the Islamic State (formerly known as ISIS) in Raqqa, Syria, shows how the extremist jihadi group is indoctrinating children to hatred and violence (see video below).

“For us, we believe that this generation of children is the generation of the caliphate. This generation will fight the infidels and apostates, the Americans and their allies, God willing. The right doctrine has been implanted in these children," says an Islamic State member who is running a “training camp” for children. “All of them love to fight for the building of the Islamic State and for the sake of God,” he says.
“Abdullah the Belgian,” as he is called, travelled to Syria with his young son, who he has brought to the camp. As the camera rolls, Abdullah crouches down next to his son, who appeared to be about the age of six or seven.
“Why do we kill the infidels? What have the infidels done?” he asks his son.
Self-conscious in front of the camera, the child answers, “They kill Muslims.”
“All the infidels?  Like the infidels of Europe?” his father asks him.
“The infidels of Europe.  All the infidels,” he son answers dutifully.
The father continues, “What do you want to be, a jihadist or to execute a martyrdom [suicide] operation?”
“A jihadist,” says the young boy.
Once more the topic returns to killing infidels.  Abdullah asks his son, “Why do we kill infidels? What have the infidels done?”
“They kill Muslims.” The boy says, looking to his father, as if to say, “Did I say the right answer?”
The Islamic State has set up its children’s camp on the bank of the Euphrates river. Cooling off during the long, hot days of Ramadan, the men of the Islamic State, play with boys in the water. But while it may be fun and games for the children, for the men, it is serious business.
Abu Mosa is the Islamic State’s press officer. Speaking to the filmmaker, he says he lives for the war all the time. Asked about his home and family, Mosa says, “I don’t go [home] at all. The family, honestly, is the least important thing. There is a higher purpose. No one will defend the Muslims if we all sat at home with the family.”
Speaking on the banks of the river while others play, Mosa explains how the children will be “educated.”
“Those under 15 go to a sharia camp to learn about their creed and religion. Those over 16, they can attend the military camp,” he says.
When asked if the children participate in military operations, Mosa answers, “Yes, those who are over 16 and were previously enrolled in the camps can participate in military operations, because Usama Ibn Zaid (the adopted son of Mohammed) led an army when he was 17 or 18 years old … against the Romans.”
Fourteen-year-old Daoud, who has just enjoyed a swim, is put in front of the camera. “In the name of God …,” Daoud says, “I’d like to join ISIS [the Islamic State] and kill with them. Because they fight infidels and apostates.”
Daoud looks to the side, perhaps at someone off camera for approval. He continues, “The Islamic State, they haven’t done anything wrong and God willing they will not. We love the Islamic State.”
Another child, aged nine, explains that he is going to a training camp after Ramadan ends. When asked on what will he be training, he proudly answers, “The Russian [Kalashnikov rifle].”
When asked the purpose of the training, he says, “To fight the Russians, America. The infidels.”
The interviewer points out to him, “You are quite young. Do you know how to use a gun? Have you shot a gun before?”
The nine-year-old answers, “Yes.”
At one of the many celebratory rallies held by the Islamic State in Raqqa in honor of the group’s declaration of the establishment of a new caliphate, one can see scores of children and young boys. Waving huge Islamic State flags prominently, the children smile and listen to testimonials given by the group’s followers.  The children also stand with weapons next to adults who are similarly armed.
The rallies serve as important recruitment opportunities for the Islamic State. There is entertainment as well as testimonials.  A man sings, “Beautiful virgins are calling, enroll me as a martyr."
Another man takes the microphone to tell his story:
“I lived in Europe for 25 years, but I always wanted to go to Muslim lands. We left our children and we left the pretty women. We said goodbye to them, we came to the land of honor and jihad. This is where I feel at ease, 100 percent.”
Tellingly, the man continues, shouting,“ I noticed that only the children say hello to us, and they send us kisses from far away. When old people look at us with a frightened look, they don’t know that we are the best people on the planet. After the prophets, come the Mujahideen!”
At the end of the event, the crowd is asked to pledge their allegiance to the head of the Islamic State, the self-declared caliph, Abu-Bakr al-Baghdadi.
With their arms raised in a Nazi salute, children and adults recite, “We pledge allegiance to the prince of the faithful, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. “ The crowd is told, “When I shout ‘the Caliphate,’ you say ‘established.’ “
The crowd complies, many times.

The video ends with chilling footage of prisoners held by the Islamic State militants, who say they are waiting to be whipped by the group. The camera cuts to an Islamic State official who stops a man on the street to ask him if a certain woman is his wife. When the man answers yes, the official tells him that she must change the fabric of her veil. Explaining to the filmmaker, the official says, “So, we advise in a nice way, but those who don’t obey will be forced.”

The Huffington Post has included several known terrorist leaders and supporters in a slideshow titled "Muslim Leaders Condemn Terrorism."
The Huffington Post published an article August 25 about a demonstration in Norway by a group of Muslims who were protesting against the Islamic State and its supporters in Norway. At the end of the article is a slideshow titled "Muslim Leaders Condemn Terrorism" which features various high-profile Muslim leaders who have issued statements condemning terrorism. Most of the examples were statements condemning the 9/11 terrorist attacks in the U.S. that killed 3,000 people in the World Trade Center.
However, the Huffington Post's slideshow included terrorist supporters and financiers as well as leaders of the known terrorist group Hamas who are listed below.

UK Islamists Join With Neo-Nazis, Marxists in Anti-Semitism
Christians and Muslims are being slaughtered by Islamists across the Middle East, yet extremists join together in their hatred for Jews
This article appeared originally on GatestoneInstitute.org

Recent anti-Israel protests have been attended by thousands across Europe. These protests come in opposition to attempts by Israeli forces to quell the rocket fire aimed at Israeli citizens by the Palestinian terror groups Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad.
In Britain, the protests in support of Hamas have been chiefly organized by a mixture of Sunni Islamist groups and groups aligned with the Socialist Workers Party. The attending protestors, though, seem to come from across the political and religious spectrums.
European hatred for the small Jewish state, or Jews in general, apparently continues to transcend all ideological differences to the point where pro-Assad activists can march alongside Sunni Islamists, while neo-Nazis stand shoulder to shoulder with Marxists.
Parliamentarians such as Andy Slaughter MP and George Galloway MP walked next to Islamist activists such as Ismail Patel, a supporter of the late French Holocaust Denier Roger Garaudy. Patel advocates the killing of adulterous women and has previously stated: "Hamas is no terrorist organization…we salute Hamas for standing up to Israel." Marching between Andy Slaughter and Ismail Patel was Hafiz al-Karmi, an official from the Palestinian Forum of Britain, one of the UK's leading pro-Hamas organizations.
Activists from the Palestine Solidarity Campaign, closely aligned with Britain's Socialist Workers Party, seemed happy to march alongside James Thring and Lady Renouf, two neo-Nazi activists. Thring, described as "an anti-Zionist activist who has been vocally supported by former the Ku Klux Klan Grand Wizard David Duke," has beenfeatured in revisionist pro-Nazi documentaries and is aligned with the "New Right" society, a British neo-Nazi organization.
Lady Renouf claims that Judaism is a "repugnant and hateful religion," and is described by Searchlight Magazineas "the chief cheerleader for disgraced Holocaust denier David Irving. Renouf has contributed to the defense of several other Holocaust deniers and has since become one of the most influential figures in this murky anti-Semitic subculture."
Activists from the Neturei Karta, an extreme anti-Zionist sect, have also been a recurring presence at recent anti-Israel protests. Neturei Karta recently protested in support of the Hungary's "neo-Nazi" Jobbik party, the officials of which have "rejoiced" at the deaths of Israeli soldiers killed by Hamas terrorists in Gaza. In 2006, Neturei Karta's UK branch leader, Ahron Cohen, stated that those Jews who perished in the Holocaust "deserved it."
Other protestors have included activists from the Islamic Human Rights Commission, an Iranian-aligned Islamist group. Despite the Sunni-Shia fighting in Syria and Iraq, supporters of the pro-Assad terror group, Hezbollah, appeared to have no qualms about marching against Israel alongside supporters of Sunni jihadists waving the Black Standard, the preferred flag of Sunni Islamist terrorist organizations.
Other organizing groups behind the protests have included: the British Muslim Initiative, the president of which isMohammed Sawalha, a fugitive Hamas commander who, the BBC reports, is "said to have masterminded much of Hamas's political and military strategy;" War on Want, a taxpayer-funded charity criticized for its use of "anti-Semitic themes to attack Israel" and its associations with a number of extreme anti-Semitic organizations; as well as Stop the War Coalition, the vice-president of which, Kamal Majid, has urged support for the Assad regime because of their "long history of resisting imperialism."
In July, at one anti-Israel march through London, Algerian protestors, some waving Socialist Workers Party placards, chanted "Heil Hitler."
Groups organizing these protests may claim that anti-Israel protests are not anti-Semitic, but these assertions are clearly contradicted by the number of anti-Semitic incidents in Britain that peak during moments of anti-Israel hysteria whipped up by these very same groups. The number of anti-Semitic attacks in July reached more than double the usual number.
Despite the organized mass-slaughter of Christians and Muslims by Islamist groups across the Middle East, the hotchpotch of extremist groups in Europe still find common cause in their outspoken hatred for Jews.
Groups such as the Palestine Solidarity Campaign are happy to protest the Jewish state, but have refused to express indignation over the tens of thousands of Palestinians currently being starved out by Assad's forces in the Yarmouk refugee camp in Syria. The Stop the War Coalition, meanwhile, continues to provide platforms to pro-Assad speakers.
In continental Europe, the hatred felt seems even worse. Protestors in Paris, Berlin and Antwerp chant death threats against Jews, set fire to synagogues and loot stores in Jewish neighborhoods.
As commentators have noted, the anger expressed at Israel's existence does not seem to apply to the far bloodier actions of Islamist terror groups across the Muslim world. Douglas Murray, writing in the Spectator, observed of the protestors: "These are the people who stayed at home throughout the Syrian civil war, stayed at home when ISIS rampaged across Iraq, stayed at home when Boko Haram and Al-Shabaab carried out their atrocities across central Africa and showed no concern whatsoever when the Muslim Brotherhood was running Egypt into the ground. Yet they pretend to care about Muslims."
How many Muslims and Christians must be murdered before these Western protestors look up from their obsession with the Jews?
Mehmet Gormez, head of Turkey's Religious Affairs Directorate, recently claimed that around the world each day an average of 1,000 Muslims are killed – of which, he declared, "Almost 90 percent…are killed by other Muslims, by their brothers."
Or, to put it in another context, if the figure is accurate, every four days, Islamists murder more Muslims than those who have died in the last ten years of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Muslims, it seems, can slaughter each other without eliciting any condemnation on the streets of London or Paris.

Terror Group Tied to Turkish Gov't Recruits Hamas Human Shields
The head of the 'charity' said the purpose the shields is to spark a war between Israel and Turkey and the broader Muslim world.
BY RYAN MAURO Thu, July 24, 2014

A terror-linked charity closely linked to the Turkish government is organizing human shields in the Gaza Strip and pledging to “erect the flag of Islam everywhere.” Prime Minister Erdogan is a top backer of Hamas and allows this charity, the Humanitarian Relief Foundation (IHH), to operate.

IHH’s website has a photo of the sign-up event in front of the Israeli embassy. The website refers to the Hamas terrorists targeted by Israel as “resistance fighters.” CNN Turkey reports that IHH has signed up at least 73 volunteers for human shields in Gaza, with 38 being women.
Another page on the website talks about an IHH press conference where its president, Bulent Yildirim, openly talked about its organizing of human shields. Its press release was endorsed by the Association of Muslim Scholars, a body led by the spiritual leader of Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood.
“We, as IHH started the human shield project,” Yildirim said.
He said that it is negotiating safe passage with the Syrian government and if the Assad regime refuses, they will arrive by boat. He also called on Muslim countries to “provide weaponry support for self-protection.”
Shockingly, Yildirim said the objective of sending the human shields is to spark a war between Israel and Turkey and the broader Muslim world. He explained:
“[W]e will tell Turkey that they will have to protect us. When we are passing by sea, if Israel fires at the Turkish ships protecting us, they will come face to face with the Israel and Turkey alliance. We are looking at how this war will end up. We are ready.”

The long-term goal of IHH is to create a caliphate, as Yildirim stated matter-of-factly:
“Israel has done what we could not do. Israel has laid the foundation of an Islamic Union by attacking Gaza. I believe that soon, all Muslim countries will unite to become members of the establishment of the Islamic Union,” Yildirim said.
IHH is also organizing protests in Turkey. At one event, which registered people to be human shields, Yildirim said, “Witness the enthusiasm of people gathered here to go to Gaza. We Muslims may show up in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem one day unannounced and we will erect the flag of Islam everywhere.”
IHH is headquartered in Istanbul but operates in 135 countries, including the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip. It is best known for its role in the 2010 Mavi Marmara incident, when IHH sent a ship to break the Israeli blockade on Gaza.
According to the UN, the blockade was legal. It was set up to prevent Hamas from importing weapons through the sea. Yildirim said at the IHH press conference that the Mavi Marmara will soon sail to Gaza again.
IHH members on the Mavi Marmara were armed. When Israeli soldiers boarded the vessel, nine IHH members were killed attacking the Israelis. Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan used the opportunity to confront Israel and elevate his stature among Islamists. IHH Deputy Director Huseyin Oruc said he was warmly embraced by the Deputy Prime Minister after the incident and “we have good coordination with Mr. Erdogan.”
Up to 10 MPs from Erdogan’s AK political party planned to board the ship but were told by the government not to. At least 21 people on IHH’s board of directors at the time were involved with Erdogan’s AK party. One IHH official was the chairman of the parliament’s foreign affairs committee.
According to its website, the Turkish parliament bestowed IHH with an “Award of Honor” in 2007. In 2009, Yildirim spoke at a Hamas event and declared, “All the peoples of the Islamic world would want a leader like Recep Tayyip Erdogan.”

IHH is reacting to the latest fighting between Israel and Hamas with extremist incitement, just as Erdogan is. Erdogan says Israel has “surpassed Hitler in barbarism” and has launched a campaign of "systematic genocide." IHH falsely claims that Israel is firing missiles randomly into Gaza “without considering women and children.”
IHH’s links to Hamas would only encourage Erdogan to embrace the group. In 2010, Erdogan declared that Hamas is not a terrorist group. His government supports Hamas politically and financially and even harbors Hamas leaders. Erdogan is also an unshakeable friend of the Muslim Brotherhood, the parent organization of Hamas.
Israel, Germany and the Netherlands have all banned IHH as a terrorist organization. The U.S. has not, even though 87 Senators have requested it, including Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) and prominent leaders of both political parties.

The U.S. government has indirectly admitted that IHH is linked to terrorism. In 2008, the Treasury Department sanctioned the Union of Good, a network of charities, because it was “created by Hamas leadership to transfer funds to the organization.” IHH is a member of the Union of Good.
In 2009, a senior Treasury Department official addressed IHH’s terrorist ties with Turkish officials. A leaked State Department document records that the official mentioned how IHH is “providing material assistance to Hamas.”
In 2010, the State Department said it could not prove links between IHH and Al Qaeda but is “greatly concern[ed]” about IHH’s meetings with Hamas leaders. The State Department earlier said it was considering labeling IHH as a Foreign Terrorist Organization. It never happened.
The links of IHH to Hamas, labeled by the U.S. as a Foreign Terrorist Organization, are irrefutable. The two lavish praise upon each other. IHH sponsored a funeral for a Hamas leader named Mohammad Said Heyam. IHH’s campaign coordinator in Europe, Muhammad Sawalha, used to be a senior Hamas leader before moving to the United Kingdom.
French counterterrorism magistrate Judge Jean-Louis Bruguiere has documented links between IHH and Al Qaeda as well. For example, he has referred to phone calls between IHH and an Al Qaeda safe house in 1996. Turkish police raids on IHH in 1997 found strong evidence of its involvement in violent jihad.
The Danish Institute for International Studies quotes  from his report:
It appears that the detained members of IHH were going to fight in Afghanistan, Bosnia, and Chechnya ... The essential goal of this Association was to illegally arm its membership for overthrowing democratic, secular, and constitutional order present in Turkey and replacing it with an Islamic state founded on the Shariah.

Under the cover of this organization known under the name of IHH, [IHH leaders] acted to recruit veteran soldiers in anticipation of the coming holy war. In particular, some men were sent into war zones in Muslim countries in order to acquire combat experience. On the spot, the formation of a military unit was assured. In addition, towards the purpose of obtaining political support from these countries, financial aid was transferred [from IHH], as well as caches of firearms, knives, and pre-fabricated explosives.
In 2001, federal prosecutors called upon the magistrate as an expert witness in the trial of Al Qaeda terrorist Ahmed Ressam. He was involved in the “Millennium Bomb Plot” to attack the Los Angeles International Airport.
Bruguiere testified that IHH had an “important role” in the Al Qaeda plot. He referred to phone calls from the terror cell’s apartment to IHH in Istanbul.
In 2011, two IHH members were arrested in Somalia after meeting with Al-Shabaab, Al Qaeda’s affiliate there. They traveled to an area known to be under the control of the terrorist group; IHH says they were delivering humanitarian aid to refugees.
The Erdogan government clashed with its own law enforcement earlier this year when it took action against IHH and Al Qaeda. In early January,  Turkish police stopped an IHH truck that was suspected of transferring weapons to Syria. The officers involved were retaliated against and moved to new jobs. The public prosecutor filed a complaint against the government for obstructing justice.
About two weeks later, Turkish police raided six IHH offices as part of a terrorism investigation and arrested 23 people for allegedly having links to Al Qaeda. It was reported that two were senior Al Qaeda operatives. The lead police officer was immediately fired and the raids were condemned by the Deputy Prime Minister. The eight involved prosecutors had their bodyguards reassigned and a second police chief was fired.

IHH operates in Turkey without any interference from Erdogan as it supports Hamas and recruits human shields. Yet, the U.S. hasn’t followed Germany, the Netherlands and Israel in listing IHH as a Foreign Terrorist Organization.
Erdogan’s government would erupt in anger if the U.S. treated IHH like the terrorist entity it undoubtedly is. Perhaps it’s too bitter of a pill to swallow for the U.S. to acknowledge that a NATO member is no longer on our side.
