Obama's Mosque Speech: Missing a ‘Berlin Wall Moment’
How did U.S. President Barack Obama perform when he visited an American mosque on Feb. 3. Could he have done anything differently?

U.S. President Barack Obama delivered his first speech from a mosque on February 3. He pushed the Muslim-American community to lead the Muslim world into a better future, but he missed a "tear down this wall" moment by speaking at a mosque with a radical history instead of giving a lift to Muslim reformists who confront Islamism.
Here are three hits and three misses from Obama's speech in alternating order:
Hit: Using quotes from Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin, Obama simultaneously countered Islamist preaching that Muslims cannot reconcile their faith identity with American patriotism. This is also a strong rebuttal to those that wish to exempt Muslims from constitutional protections simply for their choice of faith. He said:
Back then, Muslims were often called Mahometans. And Thomas Jefferson explained that the Virginia Statute for Religious Freedom he wrote was designed to protect all faiths -- and I’m quoting Thomas Jefferson now -- “the Jew and the Gentile, the Christian and the Mahometan.” (Applause.)
…Benjamin Franklin wrote that “even if the Mufti of Constantinople were to send a missionary to preach to us, he would find a pulpit at his service.” (Applause.)
Miss: He implied that Muslim terrorists and extremists purposely "twist" Islamic verses to suit their agendas, as if groups like ISIS do not actually believe in the Islam they practice and impose. He said:
"Right now, there is an organized extremist element that draws selectively from Islamic texts, twists them in an attempt to justify their killing and their terror. Part of what's happened in the Middle East and North Africa and other places where we see sectarian violence is religion being a tool for another agenda—for power, for control."
By denying the Islamist ideological root of these threats, President Obama removes the obligation from the Muslim world to directly address, debunk and reform Islamic interpretations that are dangerous and strongly-held. He disarms the chief argument of the best Muslim allies, like those in the Muslim Reform Movement.
Hit: Pressuring Muslim leaders to confront anti-Western propaganda, anti-Semitism in Europe and persecution of Christians.
Obama did not call on Muslim leaders to refute Islamism overall but he did directly tell them that they have an obligation to confront anti-Western views that present the U.S. and its allies as an enemy of their faith. He said:
"Muslim political leaders have to push back on the lie that the West oppresses Muslims, and against conspiracy theories that says America is the cause of every ill in the Middle East. Now, that doesn't mean Muslim Americans aren't free to criticize American-U.S. foreign policy. That's part of being an American."

A North Carolina man killed his neighbor and stole money to purchase an assault rifle with which to carry out a terrorist attack, according to a federal indictment read on Monday and reported by ABCNews.
Justin Nojan Sullivan, 19, is also accused of attempting to pay an undercover FBI operative to kill his parents. Sullivan allegedly believed his parents would oppose his plans for an attack.

Members of Hezbollah’s European cell have been arrested for selling millions of dollars of cocaine in the U.S. and Europe to buy arms in Syria. Included in the arrests were the cells leaders, notably, Mohamad Noureddine, a specially designated global terrorist.
Hezbollah is a Lebanese Shiite terror group, loyal to Iran and fighting in Syria on the side of Syria’s beleaguered president Bashar al-Assad. The group was designated as a Foreign Terrorist Organization by the U.S. in 1997.

GOP presidential candidate New Jersey Governor Chris Christie is still praising a Hamas-linked mosque in his state, saying, "The folks in the local mosque in Paterson, the ones I interact with, they are not radical Islamic jihadists." He is referring to the Islamic Center of Passaic County—and he's praised its imam for years even though the Department of Homeland Security is seeking his deportation for his links to Hamas.

FRANCE ARRESTS SIX PLANNING ATTACKS ON SEX CLUBS
The jihadists had booked tickets to Syria. France has also deepened its security cooperation with Belgium to prevent further attacks on French soil.

French anti-terrorism police arrested six people in the city of Lyon on Tuesday who were believed to have been planning terrorist attacks against sex clubs. The six converts to Islam, who were being monitored by the authorities, had already purchased bus tickets to travel to Syria via Bulgaria and Turkey in order to join ISIS there.
At least two were planning to acquire weapons and carry out attacks on swingers' clubs before travelling to Syria, the International Business Times reported.
France vowed closer security cooperation with Belgium on Monday after prime ministers Charles Michel of Belgium and Manuel Valls of France met in Brussels. The gathering included the interior and justice ministers of both countries and senior intelligence officials. Intelligence sharing will be boosted following the meeting.
“We must be united around our values, cooperate and become stronger against terrorism. I have never doubted the Belgian people,” Valls said.

LAWSUIT FILED AGAINST MARYLAND HS FOR ISLAMIC INDOCTRINATION
Parents of a teenage girl contend the way the students are forced to learn about Islam violates their constitutional rights.
A lawsuit has been filed on behalf of parents of a Maryland teenager who say their daughter was forced to profess and write out the Shahada, the Islamic declaration of faith, which reads: “There is no god but Allah, and Mohammed is the messenger of Allah.”
Recitation of the statement is sufficient to convert a non-Muslim to Islam. In addition, the latter half of the statement signifies the person has accepted Mohammed as their prophet.
According to lawsuit, the teenager, a student at La Plata High School in La Plata, Maryland, was also required to memorize and recite the Five Pillars of Islam. The Thomas More Law Center, attorneys for the case, charges that Charles County Public Schools disparaged Christianity by teaching its students that: “Most Muslims’ faith is stronger than the average Christian.”
The high school also taught:
“Islam, at heart, is a peaceful”
“To Muslims, Allah is the same God that is worshiped in Christianity and Judaism.”
The Koran states, “Men are the managers of the affairs of women” and
“Righteous women are therefore obedient.”

The teenager’s father, John Kevin Wood, a former Marine and a veteran of the Iraq War, became concerned when he saw that his daughter and other students were taught extensively about Islam and required to list the benefits of the religion but were not taught about Islam in the context of current events.
One homework assignment, obtained by a news outlet asked questions including, "How did Muslim conquerors treat those they conquered?" The correct answer was, “With tolerance, kindness and respect."

Last April, the university fired a professor of 10 years after a video emerged of his involvement in a confrontation with a driver that he says nearly struck a girl because he was texting while driving.

Ironically, the White House said Obama's first visit to a U.S. mosque is to "reaffirm the importance of religious freedom to our way of life."
On February 3, President Barack Obama will visit a U.S. mosque for the first time during his presidency. Curiously, the president chose a mosque to visit that is deeply tied to Islamist extremism and terror funding.
The Islamic Society of Baltimore, the mosque Obama will visit, is part of a network of mosques of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA). In 1991, a U.S. Muslim Brotherhood memo placed ISNA at the top of a secret list of “our organizations and the organizations of our friends.” The document said the organization’s “work in America is a kind of grand jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within…”

DENMARK MAY FINE GIRL FOR PEPPER SPRAYING RAPIST
A 17-year-old girl who was sexually attacked in Denmark may face charges herself after she used pepper spray against her assailant.
“It is illegal to possess and use pepper spray, so she will likely be charged for that,” said a local police spokesman in Sonderborg, where the attack took place.
After knocking the teenager to the ground and unbuttoning her pants, the victim was able to prevent being raped by pepper-spraying the man.
The man fled the scene and has yet to be arrested.
The Local reports “The case has sparked a backlash among some Danes who point to increasing reports of sexual harassment [by male asylum seekers] in Sonderborg and other Danish cities at the same time that police say they are stretched too thin to properly carry out their duties.”
After the case was reported by the Danish news outlet TVS, a number of readers wrote in the comments sections that they would be willing to pay the girl’s fine, which is expected to be 500 kroner ($73).
Sweden announced it will expel close to 80,000 migrants whose applications have been rejected over the course of the next few years.
The migrants will be flown out of the country on specially-charted aircraft, since there are too many of them to put on commercial flights as is normally done.
It was unclear as to where the migrants would be flown.

KENT STATE HONORED PROF AFTER HIS SUPPORT FOR TERROR KNOWN
Julio Pino received two Faculty Excellence Awards after openly supporting terrorism and suicide bombings. He was even linked to a jihadi website.
The Kent State University student newspaper recently reported that a terrorism-supporting professor, Julio Pino, received two Faculty Excellence Awards in 2003 and 2010. His open support for terrorism, specifically suicide bombings in Israel, became known in 2002. In the years after, he was even linked to a website dedicated to assisting Al-Qaeda and other terrorists in killing people.
Kent Wired reports that he began teaching for the school in 1992 and earned tenure in 1998. He converted to Islam in 2002 and began openly supporting terrorism two years later. As our research report on Pino documents, he wrote a letter praising a Palestinian suicide bomber in Israel as a "shining star" and asked Allah to "protect the soldiers of Islam fighting in Palestine." He also objected to the terminology of "suicide bombers," preferring to use "martyrdom bombers" because he doesn't believe their acts constitute suicide, which is prohibited in Islam.
The next year, he was honored with a Faculty Excellence Award.

A 17-year-old girl who was sexually attacked in Denmark may face charges herself after she used pepper spray against her assailant.
“It is illegal to possess and use pepper spray, so she will likely be charged for that,” said a local police spokesman in Sonderborg, where the attack took place.
After knocking the teenager to the ground and unbuttoning her pants, the victim was able to prevent being raped by pepper-spraying the man.
The man fled the scene and has yet to be arrested.
The Local reports “The case has sparked a backlash among some Danes who point to increasing reports of sexual harassment [by male asylum seekers] in Sonderborg and other Danish cities at the same time that police say they are stretched too thin to properly carry out their duties.”
After the case was reported by the Danish news outlet TVS, a number of readers wrote in the comments sections that they would be willing to pay the girl’s fine, which is expected to be 500 kroner ($73).
Sweden announced it will expel close to 80,000 migrants whose applications have been rejected over the course of the next few years.
The migrants will be flown out of the country on specially-charted aircraft, since there are too many of them to put on commercial flights as is normally done.
It was unclear as to where the migrants would be flown.

KENT STATE HONORED PROF AFTER HIS SUPPORT FOR TERROR KNOWN
Julio Pino received two Faculty Excellence Awards after openly supporting terrorism and suicide bombings. He was even linked to a jihadi website.
The Kent State University student newspaper recently reported that a terrorism-supporting professor, Julio Pino, received two Faculty Excellence Awards in 2003 and 2010. His open support for terrorism, specifically suicide bombings in Israel, became known in 2002. In the years after, he was even linked to a website dedicated to assisting Al-Qaeda and other terrorists in killing people.
Kent Wired reports that he began teaching for the school in 1992 and earned tenure in 1998. He converted to Islam in 2002 and began openly supporting terrorism two years later. As our research report on Pino documents, he wrote a letter praising a Palestinian suicide bomber in Israel as a "shining star" and asked Allah to "protect the soldiers of Islam fighting in Palestine." He also objected to the terminology of "suicide bombers," preferring to use "martyrdom bombers" because he doesn't believe their acts constitute suicide, which is prohibited in Islam.
The next year, he was honored with a Faculty Excellence Award.

Police in Germany are starting to go public about the restraints authorities are placing on their ability to do their job among the migrant community without being accused of racism or using extensive force.
In addition, they say they are forced to downplay the seriousness of many crimes to create desirable statistics.
“At first, mostly families with children – who looked educated and spoke English – were coming here,” an officer who worked at the Munich train stations, among other “refugee hotspots,” told the newspaper Bild. “Meanwhile, 95 percent of refugees are now single men.”
The federal officer, identified only as Bernd K., continued, “One asylum seeker wanted to cut his fellow’s throat. But the crime scene report included only severe injuries rather than murder attempt. This looks better for the statistics.”
K. said in the last number of months on his beats, he only made one criminal charge against a native German, the rest were against migrants.
K. also works in Passau and Freilassing, located in Bavaria, where he said sexual harassment is rampant. “At the train station, women are sexually harassed and offended on regular basis. When we speak of an entry ban [to the area], they would shout on us: ‘You are not my police. You are a racist’,” he said.
The officer also complained that police, on order from their superiors, are not allowed to arrest these offenders or use any coercive against them.
“Our domestic rule is – better to let him run away,” he said. “Otherwise it will turn into a big bang someday, if it’s not there already,”

Julio Pino, an associate history professor at the Ohio-based Kent State University is under investigation for possible links to the Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL). Pino, who has a documented history of extremism, reportedly posted ISIS propaganda pictures on social media and may have been recruiting students for the terrorist group.

Persecution of Christians is on the rise, with 2015 the most violent year in modern history for members of the faith. That is the conclusion of a new report by Open Doors USA, a non-profit group that has been monitoring Christian persecution worldwide since 1955.
The group says last year persecution of Christians reached "a level akin to ethnic cleansing,"
The report notes, “Islamic extremism remains by far the most common driver of persecution: in eight out of the top 10, and 35 out of the top 50 countries, it is the primary cause. A rise in Islamic extremism sees Pakistan at its highest position ever, and Libya entering the top ten for the first time.”

Shockingly, Julio Pino, a convert to Islam, is still teaching two classes this semester despite his known extremism and an on-going investigation
Julio Pino, an associate history professor at the Ohio-based Kent State University is under investigation for possible links to the Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL). Pino, who has a documented history of extremism, reportedly posted ISIS propaganda pictures on social media and may have been recruiting students for the terrorist group.
Shockingly, Pino is still teaching two classes this semester despite the investigation and his known extremism. Over 20 students have been interviewed and the investigation has been going on for about a year and a half. He has taught there since 1992 and converted to Islam in 2000.

Muhammad Abd al-Rahman Awn al-Shamrani is on record as vowing to 'kill Americans in Iraq and Afghanistan' if he was ever let go from Guantanamo.
America released a recruiter for al-Qaeda from Guantánamo. Muhammad Abd al-Rahman Awn al-Shamrani, 40, considered a “high-risk prisoner” is on record as vowing to “kill Americans in Iraq and Afghanistan,” if he was ever let go from the prison.

PAKISTAN ARRESTS IMAM AFTER BOY CUTS OFF OWN 'BLASPHEMING' HAND
An Imam has been arrested for inciting a 15-year old boy to cut off his own after a misunderstanding led to accusations of blasphemy.
Police in Pakistan have arrested an imam after a 15 -year old boy in his congregation cut off his own hand after a misunderstanding that led the boy to think he had blasphemed.
Imam Shabbir Ahmed told his congregation at his mosque five days ago “those who love the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be Upon Him) always say their prayers,” according to the Pakistani newspaper Dawn.
Ahmed then asked, “Who does not love the Prophet?” adding the words, “raise your hand.” The boy, Anwar Ali, raised his hand after misunderstanding the question.
The iman then roared from the pulpit that the boy was a “blasphemer who was liable to be killed.”

THREE AMERICANS KIDNAPPED IN BAGHDAD
In other news, two men in Virginia have been arrested for charges in connection with trying to join the Islamic State in Syria.
Three Americans have been kidnapped in Baghdad. The kidnappings have been confirmed by the U.S. embassy in Iraq, who said they are “working in full cooperation with Iraqi authorities to locate the missing Americans.”
The Americans were kidnapped in the southern neighborhood of Dora on January 17. The three were working with an interpreter, who was kidnapped as well. A number of news outlets reported that the Americans are contractors.
Speaking to the Daily Mail Online, State Department spokesperson John Kirby said, “The safety and security of American citizens overseas is our highest priority. We are working with the full cooperation of the Iraqi authorities to locate and recover the individuals.”
Kirby was not at liberty to disclose any more details.
After speaking to a police colonel in Baghdad, the Washington Post reported three -- two men a a woman -- were working at the Baghdad International Airport. The Post also reported that the three were kidnapped by Shiite militiamen who raided the second-floor apartment.
According to a police major general as well as a neighbor, the apartment was being used as a brothel. Raids on brothels in the neighborhood have occurred previously and the men are merely told to leave.
The area is said to under control of Shiite militias.

RAPE CULTURE THREATENS EUROPEAN WOMEN
With over a million refugees entering Europe, European women find themselves having to deal with the rape culture of North Africa.
New Year’s Eve in Cologne, Germany saw an unprecedented number of sexual assaults against German women. This, of course, is just one example of a trend occurring across Europe after an influx of Middle Eastern and North African refugees.
Vienna Police Chief Gerhard Purstl warned, “Women should in general not go out on the streets at night alone, they should avoid suspicious looking areas and also when in pubs and clubs should only accept drinks from people they know.”
While Purstl’s advice has been met with backlash, mainly from feminists who reject the initial stance that women should need to be more careful, the question remains, why is this happening?
The origin of these exceedingly violent sexual attacks, known as taharrush--gang gropings and rapes--can be traced back to the Egyptian Revolution, which followed the fall of then Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak.

This was compounded by the husband, who apparently participated in the daily rape of his wife during their journey to the European mainland.
Subsequently his wife obtained a restraining order against her husband. Now living in Berlin, Germany, the woman fears her husband or another family member could try to kill her because of the shame she brought upon the family.
While this story is seemingly unique in detail it is part of the broader story of the abuse of female refugees from the Middle East in recent months.

The executioner for the latest Islamic State video is thought to be Siddharta Dhar from London, who was arrested with Anjem Choudary for terrorism.
The man in the latest Islamic State video billed as ‘the new Jihadi John’ is thought to have been
identified by his family in the UK.
The family of Siddharta Dhar, a 32 year old former bouncy-castle salesman, watched the video and recognized the killer’s voice as matching their relative.
“I heard the voice, yes, but I don’t know, I’m not sure of the voice” his mother, Sobita Dhar, said according to The Telegraph. “These are the most difficult questions to answer. I just cannot say. I’m not sure within myself whether it is the truth or not.”
If the match is correct, he travelled to Syria with his wife and four children while out on bail awaiting trial for alleged terrorism offences. He was arrested in 2014 along with radical hate preacher Anjem Choudary, the leader of the banned group Al-Muhajiroun.
Choudary will stand trial next week but Dhar fled the country hours after being granted bail.

The Islamic State is continuing its campaign of terror against those it perceives as deviants, executing gay people in the territory it controls.
The Islamic State executed at least 25 people in Syria for homosexuality, according to the UK-based monitoring group the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. The monitoring group spoke with the UK’s The Independent.
Those killed are said to include a 15-year-old boy accused of having sex with an ISIS commander. While the boy was thrown off a building to his death, the commander was demoted and sent to the front, but his life was spared.
“Daesh (another name for Isis) accuses people of being gay only on the basis of some superficial information without any investigation,” Syrian civil rights activist Rawd Ahmed told told Syrian news agency ARA. “Although the Islamic law bans homosexuality, the brutal punishment by Daesh has never been witnessed throughout history.”
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said six people were killed by stoning, three by shooting and 16 were thrown from buildings and then stoned when they hit the ground.

The U.S. government rejected the conclusions of the British government's 18-month review of its intelligence and policy towards the Muslim Brotherhood, concluding that the Islamist group is linked to terrorism and extremism. The comprehensive study welcomed outside contributors, of which the Clarion Project was one.
The British government rejected the myth that the Brotherhood is "moderate" and the patently false notion that it is "non-violent." The Brotherhood and its ideology are now rightly seen as adversarial and measures will be taken to counter its threat. While the UK stopped just shy of banning it as a terrorist group, Prime Minister David Cameron said it will "keep under review whether the views and activities of the Muslim Brotherhood meet the legal test for proscription."

A new Islamic State video surfaced purporting to show the execution of five British spies.
The 10-minute video features a masked man with a British accent who calls the video “a message to David Cameron.”
He calls Cameron “Slave of the White House; Mule of the Jews,” mocking the British contribution to the war effort as insignificant.
He says the Islamic State will remain and “will continue to wage jihad, break borders and one day invade your land, where we will rule by the sharia.”
The executioner then says Britain will lose the war, as it lost in Iraq and Afghanistan, before shooting the captives. At the start of the video each captive gave a video confession detailing his alleged crimes in Arabic.
The video concludes with a young boy saying “we are going to kill the kuffar over there.”
British security services are currently examining the content of the video, which has not been independently verified. The British government has not made any comment as to the presence of British spies inside Islamic State territory.
The BBC reported unnamed experts as saying the video was made to distract from recent Islamic State losses on the battlefield, such as the capture of Ramadi by the Iraqi security forces.

Turkish President Tayyip Recep Erdogan drew criticism after comparing his desired presidential system for Turkey with that of Adolf Hitler’s Germany.
He was asked by a reporter on December 31 if it was possible to have an executive presidential system in Turkey.
“There are already examples in the world. You can see it when you look at Hitler's Germany” Erdogan replied. "There are later examples in various other countries.”
Erdogan has long sought to convert the Turkish presidency from a ceremonial role to an executive position like that in the United States.
His AKP party failed to gain a two-thirds majority in parliament in the last election, meaning it does not have the legislative power to change the constitution. After snap elections in November, Erdogan arrested journalists, police officers, state governors and many officials allegedly connected to Erdogan’s rival and enemy Fethullah Gulen in sweeping dawn raids across 18 provinces.

Riyadh expelled Iran’s diplomats on Jan. 3, citing attacks on the Saudi Embassy in Tehran in which protesters set part of the building on fire. Saudi ally Bahrain followed suit in cutting off relations on Jan. 4 as did Sudan. The United Arab Emirates has downgraded ties.
It is not known how far tensions will spiral out of control. Saudi Arabia and Iran back opposite sides in the wars in Syria and Yemen and also have very different attitudes on Iraq, where Iran funds, arms and trains Shiite militias, which have been accused of sectarian atrocities against Sunnis.
It is important to remember both Saudi Arabia and Iran are states which implement sharia as state law.

Islamic State fatwas on the do's and don'ts of sex slavery have been translated and made available to the public. This is what they say. learn more
Islamic State theologians have issued detailed rulings on who can rape sex slaves and when in a detailed fatwa.
The fatwa was seized by the U.S. military as part of a trove of documents captured earlier this year in a raid that killed Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL) financial officer Abu Sayyaf in May. Reuters has been running exposes on some of the documents seized in the raid, including this fatwa.
Fatwa No. 64, dated Jan. 29, 2015, issued by Islamic State's Committee of Research and Fatwas is structured as warnings to “some of the brothers” who “have committed violations in the matter of the treatment of the female slaves” which ISIS feels “are not permitted by Sharia law.”
To avoid future misunderstandings the fatwa department codifies the rules of sexual slavery thus:
A slave owner cannot have intercourse (rape) his female-slave if she is pregnant or menstruating.
He may not rape both a mother and daughter if he owns both women.
He may not rape two sisters if he owns both – he must choose only one. If he sells one however, the other becomes permitted.
A son may not rape the slave of his father, nor the father the slave of his son. Neither may a husband rape his wife’s slave. Selling or giving away the girl changes this.
A slave owner is not allowed to abort a fetus of his slave impregnated by him.
There are also injunctions to treat slaves well:
The owner of a female captive should show compassion towards her, be kind to her, not humiliate her, and not assign her work she is unable to perform.
For an organization infamous for its draconian approach to crime and punishment, specific penalties for breaches of these rules are conspicuous by their absence.
Another pamphlet, translated by scholar and Islamic State expert Aymenn Jawad al-Tamimi, lays out the sharia basis for taking captives in war, including sex-slaves, providing instruction on who fighters are allowed to capture and enslave.
“For the disbelievers who have no pact of the dhimmi, ceasefire or security between them and the Muslims, the principle regarding them is that their blood and property are free for pillage if they do not convert to Islam or pay the jizya and enter under the rule of Shari'a” the pamphlet reads.

In the clip, which has not been independently verified, Baghdadi disparaged the anti-terrorism coalition assembled by Saudi Arabia, calling into question its Islamic credentials.
“If the Saudi Islamic coalition was actually Islamic it would have stated its goals to liberate Palestine” Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi reportedly said “and help the people of Sham [Syria] and declared war against the Rafida [Shiites]. If it were Islamic atheistic China wouldn’t have joined it.”
Palestine was also a focus when al-Baghdadi threatened to wage war against Israel.

“There are undoubtedly a small number of very dangerous men motivated by a religion or ideology who are trying to recruit other people so they will go on to commit offences linked to that ideology or religion” he told the Times in an interview.
“You do have Muslim gangs but the point about it is, it is a gang,” he added, emphasizing the role of prison power politics in recruitment. “That is more important than it is Muslim. There might be pressure to join up, but how real that conversion is is the big question.”
Warnings over radicalization in prisons have been previously given in the UK, as well as France and America.
A debate has been ongoing as to whether or not to isolate Islamists from the general population in prison and whether it would help or hinder radicalization.

Iraqi forces are poised to recapture Ramadi, the provincial capital of Anbar province from the Islamic State. Government troops have surrounded a key government compound in the center of the city, which ISIS forces were using as a command center.
“The government compound is under our full control," Col. Ibrahim Mohammed Ibrahim, a spokesman for Iraq's Joint Operations Command, told CNN. "This does not mean we have entered the compound. It means it is fully surrounded and fully under our control.”
Only pockets of resistance remain in the city.
Government forces began a ground offensive last week and have been slowly retaking the city, which fell to the Islamic State in May. This is the first major victory for the Iraqi army in 18 months.

Chinese military general Sun Tzu wrote the prototype battle manual, The Art of War, some 1,500 years ago. It became the seminal work used by all military governors, even at West Point.
Where his thesis went unheeded, it led to military disasters across history. In the battle against the Islamic State, our military leaders would do well to listen to the words of Sun Tzu and strategize accordingly.
A leder leads by example, not by force.
ISIS' ideology is the driving force behind its strength. It offers structure and order to a largely rag tag group of fighters, disaffected by their current circumstances and living with the delusions of grandeur of a caliphate and sharia law for all. However, ISIS barbarity and cruelty to its "enemies' and the harsh restrictions and punishments meted out to its own people will ultimately lead, as we have seen so often, to infighting and civil war.
You have to believe in yourself.
ISIS fighters believe in themselves but does the rest of the world? How many wars have been lost by a lack of morale? While ISIS screams jihad, martyrdom and eternal paradise, the West needs to be educated to understand this is a war of survival. This is a war to preserve Western security, values and even interests that will ultimately benefit all of us. We need to be motivated, mobilized and activated, waving our flags and supporting the military, which is fighting for everyone in the free world.
Appear weak when you are strong and strong when you are weak.

The group posted pictures of prisoners it said were ISIS members with their hands cuffed behind their backs, according to the Daily Express. The simple message was “Kill him or let him go?”
Most Instagram users who interacted with the post voted to kill the prisoners, prompting the group to respond “As you wish my followers. We will kill him.” More pictures were then uploaded showing the bodies.

The beauty queen says she will not be deterred and plans to represent Iraq in the next Miss Universe competition.
Iraq crowned its first beauty queen in 40 years, 20-year old Shayma Qassim on Saturday Dec. 19. Three days later Qassim received a threatening phone call from the Islamic State, telling her to join the terror group or they will kidnap her
According to the organizers of the contest, Qassim, who is originally from Kirkuk, vowed she will not be deterred, saying she would “continue forward despite any obstacles.” The beauty queen plans to represent Iraq in the next Miss Universe competition.
The Miss Iraq pageant was originally scheduled for October, but was moved to December after tribal leaders demanded no women from their families participate. Organizers reported two women bowed out after receiving death threats. In addition, the swimsuit competition was cancelled and a competition in a more modest outfit was substituted. Hijabs were banned for participants.

TERROR PLOT FOILED IN ORLEANS, FRANCE
Two men were detained in France in connection with a terrorist plot to attack police and military targets in the city of Orleans.
Two men were arrested in France as a plot to carry out a terrorist attack in the city of Orleans was busted, Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said.
“A planned attack targeting representatives of state forces in the Orléans region was foiled last week by the DGSI (France's internal intelligence agency)” he told the media.
The attack was planned against police and army targets in the city of Orleans.
The arrested men are believed to have been in contact with a third man, thought to be in Syria, who was the mastermind of the attack.

A German company has been manufacturing fake hymens to a growing market of mostly Muslim women who must prove their virginity on their wedding night, the UK’s Daily Mail reported.
Virginia Care sells packages containing two ultra-thin membranes, to be inserted by the woman herself, which contain fake blood. The blood is secreted when the membrane is pierced, which enables women to trick their husbands and/or in-laws that they were virgins before the marriage. It can also be used by women who are worried their hymens will not rupture and thus will produce no bloodstains.
Their website advertises, “With an artificial hymen from VirginiaCare, you will certainly be able to show the bloodstains on your wedding night!”
Although the company delivers all over the world, it’s main client-base is Muslim women living in Europe.
Many Muslim, Hindu and Sikh women in conservative families face social exclusion or even death in so-called "honor killings" if they are found not to be virgins on their wedding night or even if blood is not found after their wedding night. This subject was covered in Clarion's award winning movie Honor Diaries.
“If your product did not exist, I would not now exist either,” read one testimonial.
For this reason, VirginiaCare boasts on its website that it has "completely discreet shipping" and can be ordered from any pharmacy.
A fake hymen from Virginia Care costs $54, in contrast to the $2,630 price tag of surgically reconstructing the hymen.
Two different models of the device is sold: one which secretes a bright red fluid (in order to convince a husband), while another that secretes red-brown liquid, intended to convince in-laws who inspect the couple's sheets the next day.
“It has been well designed and cannot slip out,” a company spokesman said. “During sex it provides a natural seeming result with a trace of blood mixed with body fluids."
Advice is also given by the company on how to act like a virgin. “The woman needs to show pain. That is exactly what the man expects from a woman having sex for the first time,” instructions read.
The company has been in business for five years. Companies in other countries also provide the same service.

A congressional investigation found 72 employees of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) were on a terror watchlist at the same time.
“Back in August, we did an investigation—the inspector general did—of the Department of Homeland Security,” Rep. Stephen Lynch (D- Massachusetts) told Boston public radio “and they had 72 individuals that were on the terrorist watch list that were actually working at the Department of Homeland Security.”
“The [former DHS] director had to resign because of that,” he added.
Similar failures were seen in France, where 57 workers at Charles de Gaulle international airport in Paris were found to be on a terror watchlist. A full review of all 1,000 employees was ordered as a result.

REPS. VISIT RADICAL MOSQUE IN "ANTI-ISLAMOPHOBIA" ACT
The extremist Dar al-Hijrah Islamic Center was chosen by the congress-people to show solidarity with the "many peace-loving Muslim Americans."
In the wake of the California Islamist terrorist attack, a group of congresspeople visited the extremist Dar al-Hijrah mosque in Virginia in an 'show of solidarity' with ordinary, non-extremist Muslims in America.
The idea for the visit was conceived before the California Islamist terror shooting but after the Paris attack. “We just thought it was really important to continue to reiterate to the many, many peace-loving Muslim Americans that they were still a welcome part of our community,” Representative Don Beyer (D-Virgina), one of the organizers of the visit, told The New York Times.
Speaking the day after the California attack and just one day before the visit, Beyer said, “Yesterday does make it a little harder. It’s just another unfortunate data point. So, I think it’s more necessary than ever to go talk to the people who have nothing to do with that [editor's emphasis].”
Either Beyer and his group of lawmakers failed to research the history of the Dar al-Hijrah Islamic Center, or they are incredibly naïve. Both are enormous problems and speak volumes about the inadequate strategy currently in place in the United States government for weeding out radical Islamists before they wreak more havoc on an already traumatized country.
Dar al-Hijrah is one of the most radical Islamic centers in America.

MEET THE CHRISTIAN FEMALE FIGHTERS OF SYRIA
A battalion of 50 female Christian fighters has been formed, trained and is doing battle against the Islamic State to defend Christians in Syria. December 13 2015
A new unit of Christian female fighters has been formed in Syria to protect the Syrian Christians from the Islamic State.
The "Female Protection Forces of the Land Between the Two Rivers" is based in the Hasekeh province, between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers and currently has around 50 fighters.
The first recruits graduated the training program in August.
Kurdish forces have long fielded women in frontline combat roles as well.
There are many different Christian communities in Syria and Iraq belonging to different sects and nationalities. Some are Assyrians, descendants of the Assyrian people who once ruled the Middle East from their capital of Nineveh.
Other Christian factions in Syria include Greek Orthodox, Catholics, Chaldeans, Armenians and Maronites.
One 36-year old mother of two explained to the AFP why she had taken up arms.“I miss [my children] Limar and Gabriella and worry that they must be hungry, thirsty and cold,” she said. “But I try to tell them I'm fighting to protect their future.”

The school closed for a day this week citing 'safety concerns' after it became the focus of a media investigation.

Staff at the Al-Huda Institute said the media’s focus on the school had put the staff and students at risk. Media focus on the school began this week when it emerged that Tashfeen Malik, one of the San Bernardino terrorists, had attended a branch of the school in Pakistan.
Last year, the school was in the headlines as four of its students, aged 15-18, had attempted to travel to Syria to join jihadi organizations. Travelling from Canada through Cairo to Istanbul, three of the girls were stopped by the Turks after the girls’ parents alerted Canadian authorities. The oldest girl made it to Syria and has been living there since 2014.

The FBI have arrested and charged a man they say was the 'emir' or leader of a 10 man ISIS recruitment cell in Minnesota. Sun, December 13, 2015
The FBI have arrested a man they said was the ringleader of an Islamic State recruitment cell in Minnesota.
Abdirizak Mohamed Warsame, 20, is one of 10 men of Somali origin from Minnesota who have allegedly been plotting to join the Islamic State. Nine were arrested while one made it to Syria. The latter has been there since May 2014 and is believed to be helping recruitment efforts aimed at Americans.
Warsame was allegedly the leader, or emir, of the group.
LAst summer, a federal grand-jury investigation followed 20 to 30 Somali-Americans who were believed to be considering joining ISIS in Syria.

Abdirizak Mohamed Warsame, 20, is one of 10 men of Somali origin from Minnesota who have allegedly been plotting to join the Islamic State. Nine were arrested while one made it to Syria. The latter has been there since May 2014 and is believed to be helping recruitment efforts aimed at Americans.
Warsame was allegedly the leader, or emir, of the group.
LAst summer, a federal grand-jury investigation followed 20 to 30 Somali-Americans who were believed to be considering joining ISIS in Syria.

A new report released by the European Parliament warns ISIS could hit Europe with a weapon of mass destruction in a terror attack.
“The European Union and its Member States must prepare for the possibility of a chemical or biological attack on their territory by the self-styled 'Islamic State'” warns a new European Parliament report.
The report states ISIS could carry out a future attack with an improvised explosive device (IED) packed with chemical, biological, radiological or nuclear (CBRN) material. It thought ISIS may already have CBRN material within Europe.
“ISIL actually has already acquired the knowledge, and in some cases the human expertise, that would allow it to use CBRN materials as weapons of terror” the Director of the Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) Non-Proliferation Centre at NATO, Wolfgang Rudischhauser, stated.
ISIS reportedly used chemical weapons in combat against Kurdish positions in Syria.

We need to bear two things in mind when talking about radicalization. It doesn't come from nowhere and ultimately it's a choice.
After it emerged the two terrorists who carried out the December 2 San Bernandino attack in California were supporters of the Islamic State, speculation began about how and why they became radicalized.
This type of speculation typically follows terrorist attacks, in which pundits and journalists attempt to figure out how an otherwise peaceful person comesto hold an ideology of hatred and violence which ultimately drives them to kill.

The 19-year old girl, described as a 'bright and talented' young woman, had fallen in love with a man of whom her parents disapproved.
A German court convicted parents who murdered their own daughter for bringing “shame” to the family and sent them to jail for life. The honor killing of Lareeb Khan, 19, was carried out by her father Azadullah, 52 while her mother Shazia, 42, watched.
The parents became incensed after receiving a letter from the police saying Lareeb had tried to shoplift condoms but was only given a warning and would not be prosecuted.

TERRORIST KNIFE ATTACK IN LONDON TUBE STATION
Screaming "This is for Syria," a man knifed three people in a London Tube (subway) station. It is being treated as a terrorist attack.
Three people were injured, one seriously, in a stabbing attack in London. Screaming “This is for Syria,” a man attacked passengers at Leytonstone Tube Station.
He was subdued by police officers using tasers and then arrested. Those he injured were swiftly taken to hospital.
“We are treating this as a terrorist incident,” said the head of the Metropolitan Police Force’s Counter Terrorism Command, Commander Richard Walton. “I would urge the public to remain calm, but alert and vigilant. The threat from terrorism remains at severe, which means that a terrorist attack is highly likely.”

One man who worked in the neighborhood for three weeks said he questioned why day after day, about six Middle Eastern-looking men came to the shooters' house. “We sat around lunching thinking, ‘What [were] they doing around the neighborhood?’” he said. But he didn’t report the activity because he didn’t want to be seen as racially profiling.

California Shooting: The Debate Starts Here
If the motive for the attack is Islamist terror, the U.S. administration's refusal to name it only serves to empower it, thus paving the way for more.

With the investigation of the California shooting in its primary stages, what we do know about this horrific attack is that it was highly planned. The shooters were prepared: in dress -- they donned “assault-style clothing” (described as dark, tactical garments) and body armor; with weapons -- they chose AK-47 Kalashnikov semi-automatic rifles (or the equivalent) plus pistols; and with ammo – they were carrying multiple magazines and had planted explosive devices resembling pipe bombs.
Without ruling out other motives, law-enforcement officers say the facts of this case point to a terrorist attack. What we do know is that Syed Rizwan Farook, one of the shooters, “was very religious,” according to his father.
He had travelled to Saudi Arabia and returned with this wife, who he had reportedly met online.
A neighbor said Farook lived with his wife, mother and baby and “sounded really happy. I did notice there were lots of packages being dropped off and he was in the garage working on stuff.”

The groundbreaking report, by Lorenzo Vidino and Seamus Hughes, identifies 250 Americans who have attempted to join the Islamic State and 900 open FBI investigations relating to ISIS.
It analyzes the Islamic State’s presence in the United States, monitoring both online and offline activity and details case studies of individuals who have joined the Islamic State.
It’s broken down into two parts. The first exhaustively pulls together available information on all U.S. citizens who have been arrested for Islamic-State-related activity. The second examines motivations, including the role of social media.

A 45-year-old domestic worker in Saudi Arabia was sentenced to death for zina - fornication. The man in the alleged relationship faces 100 lashes.

A domestic worker of Sri Lankan origin was sentenced to death by stoning in Saudi Arabia, on charges of zina - sexual relations outside marriage.
The 45-year-old mother of three will be stoned to death tomorrow, December 4, according to the Muslim Women’s Research & Action Front in Sri Lanka.
The man, who is unmarried, will receive 100 lashes.
Saudi Arabia is governed by strict sharia and implements the brutal hudud punishments. Recently it sentenced to death a poet for apostasy, drawing frequent comparisons between its government and that of the Islamic State. Both are based on the same austere Salafist-Wahhabist stream of Sunni Islam.
The Islamic State also executes women for sex outside marriage by stoning, as shown here.

Following raids in four Italian cities, four people who police officers described as “a highly dangerous group” were arrested in Brescia, Italy and in Kosovo. All were Kosovan citizens with suspected links to Syrian jihadists.
According to the police, the group had “threatened Pope Francis, celebrated the recent attacks in Paris and threatened the ex-US ambassador in Kosovo.” They have been accused of “condoning terrorism” and “inciting racial hatred” and are all suspected of spreading jihadi propaganda online.
Investigators in the case said they found threats made online by the group, including one against the pope which read, “This will be the last Pope.”

FBI TRACKING 48 ISIS SUSPECTS 24/7 IN AMERICA
Elite surveillance teams are monitoring 48 Islamic State suspects on US soil, tracking them 24/7. The FBI currently has 1,000 terror-related files.

The FBI has over 1,000 active cases relating to possible terrorist activity. Of those, it is monitoring 48 Islamic State suspects that are considered so high risk it is tracking them with elite “mobile surveillance teams.”
“The FBI together with law enforcement agencies across the country are engaged in this” said Senator Dan Coats of the Select Committee on Intelligence told Fox News. “It takes enormous amount of manpower to do this on a 24-7 basis. It takes enormous amount of money to do this.”
Around a dozen agents are assigned to each case and conduct 24-hour surveillance on the target. The FBI monitors suspects it thinks are most likely to attempt a repeat of the Paris attacks on American soil.
The time between radicalization and the decision to carry out an attack can be extremely short, according to FBI Director James Comey.

CHRISTIAN TV STATION TORCHED IN PAKISTAN
Despite many threats to Gawahi TV, a station preaching Christianity in Pakistan, was torched by a gang of masked men. The state provided no security.

A group of masked men torched a Christian television station in Karachi.
The attack on Gawahi TV took place at approximately 2.30 am local time on November 25. The station was completely destroyed in the fire.
The channel, established in 2013 as a joint Catholic-Protestant venture, sought to “spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ to people of all religions who live in Pakistan.” They claim to have an audience of 12 million and broadcast 24/7.
Despite many threats, local authorities had refused to provide security measures.
“It was disheartening to see the entire building and all equipment burned” Friar John Arif of the Diocese of Karachi told Asia News. “The channel was set up to communicate the word of God. There have been threats and now the matter is under investigation. We hope to soon see the channel on air again. We pray for peace and tolerance.”
The Christian community in Pakistan is frequently persecuted, with churches and other Christian establishments receiving threats and attacks. Yet the Christian community has resolved to continue undaunted, even building new churches.

MASS GRAVE OF 120 YAZIDIS MURDERED BY ISIS FOUND
Kurdish forces uncovered a mass grave of 120 Yazidis near Sinjar in Iraq. They have found six such graves since recapturing the area from ISIS.

The bodies of more than 120 Yazidis have been found in a mass grave near the town of Sinjar, Iraq.
Kurdish Peshmerga forces retook Sinjar earlier this month. Last year the Islamic State overran the area after storming most of northern Iraq including the city of Mosul.
Between 10,000 and 40,000 Yazidi civilians were trapped on Mount Sinjar, surrounded by ISIS fighters, without access to food and water. Kurdish forces were able to rescue an estimated 20,000 Yazidis and supplies were airdropped to those stranded on the mountain.
This find marks the sixth time this month that a mass grave has been found. The official in charge of the area, Mahma Kalil, said the grave had been rigged with explosives by ISIS fighters before Kurds recaptured the area.
An earlier mass grave contained the bodies of 80 women aged 40 to 80. One official suspected the women were killed because they were too old to rape and enslave.
The Yazidis are regarded by the Islamic State as devil worshippers, because of their unique religion. ISIS has captured thousands of Yazidi girls and forced them into sex-slavery.

Kenyan officials announced they foiled an Iranian terror attack in Kenya by arresting two Iranian spies.
The two men were both Shiites from Nairobi and had travelled to Iran last month. The men were identified as 69-year-old Abubakr Sadiq Louw, described as a “senior figure” in Nairobi’s Shiite community, and 25-year-old Yassin Sambair Juma. Both were said to have received training from the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps.
Meanwhile, the director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said he could not guarantee Iran’s nuclear ambitions were peaceful. Yukiya Amano's remarks came ahead of the report scheduled to be released next week by his agency to certify whether or not Iran engaged in nuclear activities that contained possible military dimensions (PMD).

Elite surveillance teams are monitoring 48 Islamic State suspects on US soil, tracking them 24/7. The FBI currently has 1,000 terror-related files.

The FBI has over 1,000 active cases relating to possible terrorist activity. Of those, it is monitoring 48 Islamic State suspects that are considered so high risk it is tracking them with elite “mobile surveillance teams.”
“The FBI together with law enforcement agencies across the country are engaged in this” said Senator Dan Coats of the Select Committee on Intelligence told Fox News. “It takes enormous amount of manpower to do this on a 24-7 basis. It takes enormous amount of money to do this.”
Around a dozen agents are assigned to each case and conduct 24-hour surveillance on the target. The FBI monitors suspects it thinks are most likely to attempt a repeat of the Paris attacks on American soil.
The time between radicalization and the decision to carry out an attack can be extremely short, according to FBI Director James Comey.

CHRISTIAN TV STATION TORCHED IN PAKISTAN
Despite many threats to Gawahi TV, a station preaching Christianity in Pakistan, was torched by a gang of masked men. The state provided no security.

A group of masked men torched a Christian television station in Karachi.
The attack on Gawahi TV took place at approximately 2.30 am local time on November 25. The station was completely destroyed in the fire.
The channel, established in 2013 as a joint Catholic-Protestant venture, sought to “spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ to people of all religions who live in Pakistan.” They claim to have an audience of 12 million and broadcast 24/7.
Despite many threats, local authorities had refused to provide security measures.
“It was disheartening to see the entire building and all equipment burned” Friar John Arif of the Diocese of Karachi told Asia News. “The channel was set up to communicate the word of God. There have been threats and now the matter is under investigation. We hope to soon see the channel on air again. We pray for peace and tolerance.”
The Christian community in Pakistan is frequently persecuted, with churches and other Christian establishments receiving threats and attacks. Yet the Christian community has resolved to continue undaunted, even building new churches.

MASS GRAVE OF 120 YAZIDIS MURDERED BY ISIS FOUND
Kurdish forces uncovered a mass grave of 120 Yazidis near Sinjar in Iraq. They have found six such graves since recapturing the area from ISIS.

The bodies of more than 120 Yazidis have been found in a mass grave near the town of Sinjar, Iraq.
Kurdish Peshmerga forces retook Sinjar earlier this month. Last year the Islamic State overran the area after storming most of northern Iraq including the city of Mosul.
Between 10,000 and 40,000 Yazidi civilians were trapped on Mount Sinjar, surrounded by ISIS fighters, without access to food and water. Kurdish forces were able to rescue an estimated 20,000 Yazidis and supplies were airdropped to those stranded on the mountain.
This find marks the sixth time this month that a mass grave has been found. The official in charge of the area, Mahma Kalil, said the grave had been rigged with explosives by ISIS fighters before Kurds recaptured the area.
An earlier mass grave contained the bodies of 80 women aged 40 to 80. One official suspected the women were killed because they were too old to rape and enslave.
The Yazidis are regarded by the Islamic State as devil worshippers, because of their unique religion. ISIS has captured thousands of Yazidi girls and forced them into sex-slavery.

Kenyan officials announced they foiled an Iranian terror attack in Kenya by arresting two Iranian spies.
The two men were both Shiites from Nairobi and had travelled to Iran last month. The men were identified as 69-year-old Abubakr Sadiq Louw, described as a “senior figure” in Nairobi’s Shiite community, and 25-year-old Yassin Sambair Juma. Both were said to have received training from the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps.
Meanwhile, the director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said he could not guarantee Iran’s nuclear ambitions were peaceful. Yukiya Amano's remarks came ahead of the report scheduled to be released next week by his agency to certify whether or not Iran engaged in nuclear activities that contained possible military dimensions (PMD).

Iraqi police confiscated and destroyed 18 dolls rigged with explosives which would have targeted Shiites at the Arbaeen festival.
The Islamic State has booby trapped children’s dolls with explosives, aiming to carry out an attack against the Shiite pilgrimage festival of Arbaeen.
Iraqi police seized 18 such dolls which were to have been scattered on the road to Karbala from Baghdad during the festival.
They were instead confiscated and destroyed.
Some 20 million Shiites travel to Karbala annually for the festival.
On Friday ten people were killed in a suicide bombing in Baghdad on Friday in a Shiite mosque. Although no group immediately claimed responsibility, suspicion has falled on the Islamic State, which has carried out many other attacks on Shiite Iraqis in the past.

The UK must push for a “negotiated settlement” for the Syrian Civil War, said Labour Party Leader Jeremy Corbyn. He drew criticism saying he supported negotiations with the Islamic State.
“The dreadful Paris attacks make the case for a far more urgent effort to reach a negotiated settlement of the civil war in Syria and the end to the threat from Isis,” he told activists at a regional party conference in Bristol.
He did not elaborate on how negotiations could end the threat from ISIS.
Regardless of the extreme difficulty of a peace settlement being agreed upon at this point, negotiations in the Syrian Civil War would involve a bevy of Islamist factions including the Islamic Front, widely seen as backed by Saudi Arabia and Jabhat al-Nusra, al-Qaeda’s regional affiliate in Syria.
All Islamist armed factions seek to establish an Islamic State of one sort or another in Syria, including establishing sharia courts to mete out justice.
Yet Corbyn seems to have no problem involving such groups in a “negotiated settlement.” This is despite the West’s previous experiences in supporting and working with al-Qaeda in the 1980s when the group fought against the Soviets in Afghanistan.
After the Soviets were defeated, al-Qaeda turned its guns on the West.
Ultimately al-Qaeda’s goals are not those of the West and negotiations with them will never convince them to change their core ideology.
This news comes following his opposition to the drone strike which killed Islamic State executioner Jihadi John, saying he should have been arrested and his opposition to the “shoot to kill” policy which British police are to implement in the event of a terrorist attack. He later reversed his position on shoot to kill.

32 KILLED IN NIGERIA IN SUSPECTED BOKO HARAM ATTACK
The Islamic State's West African affiliate Boko Haram is thought to be behind the first attack in three weeks in Nigeria.
At least 32 people have been killed and 80 injured in a bombing attack on the Nigerian town of Yola.
The attack is thought to have been carried out by Boko Haram. No claim of responsibility has yet been made by any group, but Boko Haram often does not claim responsibility for attacks.
The blast hit a crowded fruit market at 8pm local time.
The attack was the first in three weeks. On October 23, 42 people were killed in explosions in two separate mosques in different northern cities.
Nigeria is preparing for a large-scale offensive against Boko Haram in cooperation with Chad, Cameroon and Niger. Boko Haram has already been pushed out of a lot of territory it formerly controlled and is carrying out attacks like this one rather than being able to take over whole villages and areas of the country.
At least 32 people have been killed and 80 injured in a bombing attack on the Nigerian town of Yola.

ISIS RELEASES VIDEO THREATENING NEW YORK; NEW MAGAZINE ISSUE
The Islamic State has released the next issue of its English-language magazine and another propaganda video threatening to strike NYC.
The Islamic State has released a video threatening a terrorist attack on New York City, along with the latest issue of its glossy propaganda magazine Dabiq.
New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio told a press conference “There is no credible and specific threat against New York City,” with Police Commissioner Bill Bratton agreeing.
The video threatening New York is part of the Islamic State’s sophisticated propaganda efforts aimed at instilling fear in the hearts of its enemies and galvanizing its followers.
Many other propaganda videos are advertised in the latest issue of Dabiq. Entitled Just Terror, the issue opens by gloating over recent terrorist atrocities and threatening more.
It boasts about the terrorist attacks in Paris, the double-bombing in Beirut and the downing of a Russian plane in Sinai among other attacks.
It included a picture of what ISIS claims was the bomb used to destroy the Russian plane.

The first reaction ISIS is hoping for is the Western media facilitating its narrative of success, which is one of the biggest reasons for the terror organization’s rapid expansion. Battlefield achievements make the group more attractive to jihadists and are seen as proof of Allah's endorsement.
ISIS wants headlines like those about the Paris attacks; its bombing of the Russian airliner; the cancelled soccer game in Germany and the stabbing of a Jewish schoolteacher in France by ISIS supporters. It doesn't want headlines about how the U.S. killed "Jihadi John" in Syria and the leader of its affiliate in Libya; how it lost Sinjar and Beiji in Iraq or how U.S.-backed rebels in Syria are finally having success in pushing back ISIS.
Many people in the region immediately tweeted the Paris attacks would not distract from these losses. Their smack-talk to ISIS was based on a valid and important point. They did want not the media to limit its coverage to ISIS' success, but to include broader context that provides more accurate coverage that doesn't play into ISIS' hands.

There is a happy medium between the Obama Administration talking of an intake of refugees and certain states refusing point blank: vetting.
The Obama Administration is adamant the 10,000 Syrian refugees it plans to resettle in the U.S. are subject to a tough vetting process. The process is tough and long, but a poll in 2014 found that 13 percent have positive feelings towards ISIS. An ideological vetting process that can separate Islamist from non-Islamist is needed to separate valuable friends from deadly foes.
The vetting process should not just rely on criminal records and databases used to detect terrorists and their associates. Because the threat is ideological in nature, it is very possible we could allow in someone with a radical outlook but has yet to establish the kind of operational connections that would show up in a database.

The Islamic State's West African affiliate Boko Haram is thought to be behind the first attack in three weeks in Nigeria.
At least 32 people have been killed and 80 injured in a bombing attack on the Nigerian town of Yola.
The attack is thought to have been carried out by Boko Haram. No claim of responsibility has yet been made by any group, but Boko Haram often does not claim responsibility for attacks.
The blast hit a crowded fruit market at 8pm local time.
The attack was the first in three weeks. On October 23, 42 people were killed in explosions in two separate mosques in different northern cities.
Nigeria is preparing for a large-scale offensive against Boko Haram in cooperation with Chad, Cameroon and Niger. Boko Haram has already been pushed out of a lot of territory it formerly controlled and is carrying out attacks like this one rather than being able to take over whole villages and areas of the country.

ISIS RELEASES VIDEO THREATENING NEW YORK; NEW MAGAZINE ISSUE
The Islamic State has released the next issue of its English-language magazine and another propaganda video threatening to strike NYC.
The Islamic State has released a video threatening a terrorist attack on New York City, along with the latest issue of its glossy propaganda magazine Dabiq.
New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio told a press conference “There is no credible and specific threat against New York City,” with Police Commissioner Bill Bratton agreeing.
The video threatening New York is part of the Islamic State’s sophisticated propaganda efforts aimed at instilling fear in the hearts of its enemies and galvanizing its followers.
Many other propaganda videos are advertised in the latest issue of Dabiq. Entitled Just Terror, the issue opens by gloating over recent terrorist atrocities and threatening more.
It boasts about the terrorist attacks in Paris, the double-bombing in Beirut and the downing of a Russian plane in Sinai among other attacks.
It included a picture of what ISIS claims was the bomb used to destroy the Russian plane.

ISIS wants headlines like those about the Paris attacks; its bombing of the Russian airliner; the cancelled soccer game in Germany and the stabbing of a Jewish schoolteacher in France by ISIS supporters. It doesn't want headlines about how the U.S. killed "Jihadi John" in Syria and the leader of its affiliate in Libya; how it lost Sinjar and Beiji in Iraq or how U.S.-backed rebels in Syria are finally having success in pushing back ISIS.
Many people in the region immediately tweeted the Paris attacks would not distract from these losses. Their smack-talk to ISIS was based on a valid and important point. They did want not the media to limit its coverage to ISIS' success, but to include broader context that provides more accurate coverage that doesn't play into ISIS' hands.

50,000 EUROPEANS FIGHTING FOR ISIS, SAYS COUNTER-TERROR CHIEF
The director general of India's counter-terrorism body told the Hindustan Times there are 50,000 Europeans fighting for the Islamic State.
Sharad Kumar told the Hindustan Times he heard the number at a conference of European police chiefs in September which discussed counter-terrorism and de-radicalization. India was invited due to the international nature of the terrorist threat.
“During a discussion on the threat posed by the ISIS in Europe, we were told that there were around 50,000 Europeans who have joined the ranks of the terror outfit,” Kumar said.
“It makes Europe very vulnerable to terror attacks from these fighters who can come back any day and who also know major cities there from the back of their hands.”
The European Police Chiefs Convention was held on September 23 and 24 and briefed 300 police representatives from 50 countries on the terror threat posed by the Islamic State and related groups.

BELGIAN GOVERNMENT ADMITS IT HAS LOST CONTROL OF NO-GO ZONE
The neighborhood of Molenbeek in Brussels has become a jihadist hotspot connected to a string of major terror atrocities, including the Paris attacks.
Molenbeek is a working class neighborhood in Brussels with a high Muslim population, which has been linked to jihadism several times over the years. The Guardian writes it is becoming known as “Europe’s Jihadi Central.”
Terrorist plots connected to Molenbeek include:
· 2001: The assassination of anti-Taliban leader Ahmad Shah Massoud
· 2004: The Madrid Train bombings that killed 191.
· 2014: The attack on the Jewish Museum in Brussels.
· 2015: The attack on a kosher grocery store in Paris after the Charlie Hebdo shootings.
· 2015: The Verviers Plot, disrupted by Belgian authorities before an attack could take place.
· 2015: The Paris train attack in which the terrorist was overpowered by three Americans.
Home Affairs Minister Jan Jambon said the government does not “have control of the situation in Molenbeek.”
Previous reports have identified so called “no-go zones” in Sweden, France, Germany and the UK. In these heavily Muslim areas it is dangerous for non-Muslims to enter as they may be harassed or attacked and police are often unable to enter unless in force.

The pro-Islamic State users do not justify attacks by non-Muslims on Muslims, but their messaging makes it clear that they are hoping for a division in society that radicalizes the Muslim community to their side. The messages show that Islamic State (ISIS) supporters believe there are three broad categories of Muslims in Europe:
1) Those who obediently follow Allah's will and support the Islamic State;
2) "Apostates" that have made the choice to serve the "Crusaders" with their loyalty to the West;
3) Those in the middle that could be turned towards the Islamic State under the right circumstances.

'UK School Teacher: We Don't Believe in Christmas, Do We?'

Students at a state-run primary school in the UK were led in anti-Christian chants in school assemblies it has emerged.
Asim Khan, a teacher at Oldknow Academy, is said to have led students in chants including “We don’t believe in Christmas, do we?” and “Jesus wasn’t born in Bethlehem, was he?”
He is also alleged to have talked about “hellfire” and “prostitutes.”
Oldknow Academy is one of the schools in Birmingham being investigated as part of the ‘Trojan Horse’ plot. The evidence came to light as part of a tribunal investigating the allegations, which is empowered to bar teachers from the profession if found guilty.
Khan and former deputy head of Oldknow Academy Jahangir Akbar stand accused of professional misconduct and conduct that may bring the profession into disrepute.
A witness told the disciplinary hearing that Akbar excluded members of staff from a staff meeting and went “absolutely mental” over the prospect of inspections. Witnesses also told the panel that an atmosphere of cultural exclusion reigned over the school and that Muslims and non-Muslims, both staff and pupils, sat separately.
“The ethos changed in the past few years – everyone was divided” the witness, a former teacher at Oldknow, said. “For example in the staff room the different cultures sat separately. I am a very bubbly person and Oldknow used to be a very bubbly place to work but now I’ve become very nervous.”
Akbar is also accused of telling teachers to stop talking to journalists once the scandal became national news. When told that the child of parents who had spoken to the media about Islamization at the school was being bullied, he allegedly said "good."
A total of 12 teachers are facing possible lifetime bans in the disciplinary hearings, which will continue until November 18.

HOW MANY MORE WAKE-UP CALLS?
The West must stop believing Islamist terror is something that only affects Syria. If the horrors of this weekend don't signal alarm bells, what will?
In the last couple of months here at Clarion Project we have had intense debates about whether talking of the evils of Islamist extremism and issuing warnings of impending violence in the West is fair game or scaremongering.
We will continue to have this debate as we write every item or post every graphic.
However, there is an enormous temptation in the wake of the Paris atrocities to say “We told you so and there’s more to come.”
From 9/11 and 7/7 through to Tolouse, Charlie Hebdo, Copenhagen and more. The warning signs have been there for us for well over a decade – and for those following this issue closely for far longer than that.
The West is often dismissive of “what’s happening in Syria,” or the Iranian nuclear program.
Guys – wake up.
Terror is on our very doorstep.
Dozens have been arrested this year alone in the United States, accused of plotting terror attacks as Islamists or in sympathy with Islamist groups overseas.
Years ago in my native Manchester, England, just yards from my parents’ home, an Islamist cell was broken up by the local police force. The terrorists were planning a ricin gas attack.

This video resurfaced just days before the attacks in Paris. ISIS is hard at work recruiting fighters throughout the Western world.
ISIS Launches 'Viral' English Recruitment Pop Video
The Islamic State has created a video to help in its recruitment of foreign fighters. For the Sake of Allah promises virgins and violence.
For the Sake of Allah is the Islamic State's latest weapon. The English-language pop video calls on Westerners to join the fight and eventually enjoy "maidens" in heaven.
The video speaks for itself - come to ISIS-controlled territory; fight for the cause; kill the infidels and feel great about death.
