Greetings!!
As always, I pray that God blesses me to provide accurate and timely information and that He blesses each and every one of us spiritually
in such a way where a physical blessing is the result, yet physically/material ly in such a way where a spiritual blessing is the end result.
More importantly, I pray that God blesses us all in such a way, where the source of the blessings is as plain as the nose on our faces.
Over the first few weeks we have covered the basics. We have talked about using caution with herbs. We have talked about cleansing and detoxification. We have talked about foods and food additives that may be potentially dangerous as well as some of the best possible foods that you can eat. We have talked about the importance of drinking water. And we have talked about panaceas – those herbs/foods that are just overall good for almost everything.
Having discussed many generalities involving herbs and nutritional supplements, now may be a good time to discuss some individual herbs and some specific health issues.
There are probably just as many herbal and nutritional solutions for weight loss as there are weight loss products sold on late night television.
Truth be told, there is no magic bullet. You have to somehow burn more calories than you eat. If your job does not physically
strenuous, then you might have to begin some kind of exercise regime. At the very least you may have to take up walking for a variety of health reasons besides just losing weight. Walking will enhance your cardiovascular system as well as stimulate your immune system.
Since a sedative lifestyle obviously burns a very minimal amount of calories then it becomes VERY important to not eat ANYTHING else after a certain time of day and then sleep on it, as those unneeded calories will just convert into so much fat. Having a cut-off time for eating works really, really well for a lot of people since most weight is put on through snacking and drinking soft drinks and what have you throughout the evening. An acquaintance of mine lost over 150 pounds simple by not eating after 6 pm. On rare occasions if he absolutely had to eat after the 6-o-clock cutoff, he would have a piece of fruit like a pear or an apple and some water. His breakfast was oatmeal and a boiled egg and a piece of fruit – most mornings. The trick is eating healthy most of the time – BUT NOT ANYTHING AFTER A CERTAIN TIME.
Now there are few herbs which might aid, assist or otherwise help your case and I'll list them here.
GREEN TEA
Green tea burns fat naturally because it contains high amounts certain polyphenols that intensify levels of fat oxidation and thermogenesis. Drinking Japanese green tea regularly will increase your metabolism and help burn fat safely and naturally. It is not a magic bullet but when used in conjunction with some weight loss things that you are doing, it certainly helps.
According to the research, if a person did nothing different except started drinking up to 5 cups of green tea everyday it would take about a little more than 6 months to lose 5 pounds. That's less than ten pounds a year! It would take a while. That's why you have to have another plan besides green tea. If you do… then just adding green tea will take off another 1-2 pounds every few months. It increases your metabolism and can only help.
MUSTARD
May boost your metabolism up to as much as 25% for a 2-4 hours after eating. The same is true of hot peppers and hence – hot mustard. Eat spicy mustard rather than yellow mustard. Consuming hot, spicy foods tends to trigger metabolism via thermogenesis, elevating body temperature, thereby stimulating the body's natural, fat-burning ability. This applies almost universally to all "hot" foods. According to research, there are other phytochemicals in mustard that speed up your metabolism even more than just the spiciness. 25% is nothing to laugh at. That's quite a bit!
So far we have drink plenty of green tea and eat hot mustard and hot peppers! All of this has been proven to speed up your metabolism, causing you to burn more calories. And since EVERY calorie counts – do all you can to speed u p your metabolism – and don't pile on the extra calories at night and then go to bed. Consider hot dogs and hamburgers with just mustard, pickles and onions as opposed to all the rest of those fattening condiments. It grows on you.
UNFORTUNATELY THERE IS NO MAGIC PILL OR HERB THAT IS GOING TO HELP WITH WEIGHT LOSS. THE SECRET IS TO BURN MORE CALORIES THAN YOU EAT – EITHER BY HAVING A CUT-OFF TIME WHEN YOU STOP TAKING IN CALORIES <<>> UNTIL BEDTIME. AND OF COURSE BY EXERCISING MORE.
Sometimes a weight problem can be a thyroid problem interfering with metabolism and there is an herb that can help with that called BLADDERWRACK.
BLADDERWRACK is rich in iodine, an important mineral, as it helps maintain the health of the thyroid glands. That is why people who suffer from an iodine deficiency are recommended to take bladder wrack as a supplement.
But mustard, green tea, more exercise, an eating cut-off time and eating more vegetables than starches and carbohydrates – like 5 times as many WILL do the trick.
A tip that I know works is never skip breakfast. Skipping meals TRICKS your body into storing more food as fat, since it (your body) cannot be sure when you will eat again. Let your body know – first thing in the morning – that food is forthcoming and it will not need to store any for hard times. That doesn't mean pancakes, hashbrowns, 3 eggs, sausage and bacon, grits,
jelly, syrup, butter etc. It means some cheese and grapes – oatmeal and an egg – baked fish and grits something light to get you going.
