The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are expecting their third child, Kensington Palace has confirmed.

An official statement released today said: ‘Their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Cambridge is expecting their third child.

‘The Queen and members of both families are delighted with the news.

‘As with her previous two pregnancies, The Duchess is suffering from Hyperemesis Gravidarum.

‘Her Royal Highness will no longer carry out her planned engagement at the Hornsey Road Children’s Centre in London today.

‘The Duchess is being cared for at Kensington Palace.’

The couple already has two children, Prince George, 4, and Princess Charlotte, 2.

The announcement confirms predictions that William and Kate would have a third child.

When she was offered a cuddly toy designed to soothe tiny babies during an event for start-up tech companies in Warsaw she turned to the Duke, and said: ‘We will just have to have more babies.’

The news was announced as the royal couple were preparing to send their eldest child, Prince George, off to school for the first time.

They have chosen a fee-paying independent school in a south London borough for their four-year-old son.

Thomas’s Battersea will welcome the young prince and his parents on Thursday.

On Tuesday, Kate was due to join her husband and Prince Harry to visit the newly-established Royal Foundation Support4Grenfell Community Hub, which provides mental health resources for the children, young people and families affected by the Grenfell fire.

William, who quit his job as a pilot for the East Anglian Air Ambulance in July to become a full-time royal, is also due to attend the National Mental Health and Policing Conference in Oxford on Tuesday.

The couple’s third child will be born fifth in line to the throne, bumping uncle Harry out of the top five and into sixth place.

The Prince of Wales is first in line, followed by William, Prince George and the couple’s daughter Princess Charlotte, who is two.

A new Channel 4 documentary shows British teachers telling pupils there are “a lot of similarities between Hitler and Trump”, and suggesting the most important people to look after following the Manchester Arena terror bombing are Muslim pupils.

Harrop Fold School in Salford, Manchester, was formerly ranked one of the worst in Britain and is led by three brothers: Headteacher Drew Povey, Deputy Head Ross Povey, and Ben Povey on the Behaviour Team.

Channel 4 puts heavy emphasis on Middle Eastern migrant pupils in the film, particularly a Syrian boy named Rani, who is taken under the wing of a local boy named Jack.

Drew Povey notes that when he began working at the school 12 years ago, it was 99 per cent White British, but this is no longer the case — resulting in “challenges”.

Asked about the migrant influx, one young white pupil named Freya says: “They could be at war and they need to come over so they’ve got a safe place to be, but at the same time there’s not enough places to live in this part of the country for other people.”

One scene shows a woman who appears to be a teacher asking her class: “Hands up if you were born elsewhere?”

She goes on to say, “Just because some of us is an immigrant, I don’t get why people put a negative slant on it.”

Then after what appears to be an awkward cut in the film, she is shown telling the class: “There’s a lot of similarities between Hitler and Trump, yeah?”

“But Trump’s got better hair than him,” jokes a Czech pupil in response.

Some pupils at the school were at Manchester Arena when Salman Abedi, the son of a Libyan Islamist who came to Britain as a refugee, carried out a suicide bombing, killing 22 people and injuring many more.

One boy, who was there with his younger female cousin, breaks down in tears recounting how he escaped the blast.

The teachers then have an interesting discussion on what their priorities should be following the attack.

“It’s the support we give to our Muslim community in here as well, isn’t it, because they will be the ones that will be feeling hypersensitive,” says the headteacher.

“It’s about trying to get the kids to discuss people’s different cultural beliefs and backgrounds, and how these things are not directly linked to religions,” contributes an ethnic minority colleague.

The same colleague tells the filmmakers: “A lot of work needs to be done on how to deal with racial tension or people attacking other people’s religion since these bombings.”

He is not shown discussing the importance of watching out for signs of Islamic radicalisation.

Headteacher Povey appears to be on the same page: “We’ve got to deal with [Islamophobia] quickly as a school.”

The Muslim migrant pupils do not appear to be in much need of protection, however.

At a get together for foreign pupils, a Polish girl with relatively weak English is screamed at for being “a racist” by a Syrian asylum seeker who came to Britain by way of Cyprus, a safe country in the Mediterranean.

She is falsely accused of saying “they all look like terrorists” after questioning why Middle Eastern migrants have their fingerprints are taken by the Home Office.

She appears to receive no support from the teacher, who sides with the Middle Eastern pupils and privately advises her to watch what she says.

Later, a mature-looking pupil from Afghanistan is called ‘Osama’ as a joke by a white pupil, who he corners and manhandles outside the school building, threatening that he must never say anything like that to a Muslim.

The Syrian who earlier accused the Polish girl of racism explains to the filmmakers that migrants may joke among themselves about each other’s countries as friends, but if “outsiders” attempt to do so there is “a problem”.

Teachers speak to the Afghan briefly about keeping his cool and praise him as a lovely lad, whilst the pupil he became physical with is given an angry dressing down for his “unacceptable” comments by the headteacher.

Lesbian Couple Offended When Restaurant Labels ‘THIS’ on Their Receipt

A same-sex couple was outraged in Wales on Thursday when a restaurant labeled them “lesbians” on their receipt.

Belinda Mulcahy and Jo James were celebrating Belinda’s birthday at a restaurant in Northern Wales. The couple was sitting alone together and were outraged, when presented with a bill at the end of their meal, to find their server had labeled them “lesbians,” reported PinkNews.

Jo quickly took off her tool belt, tucked in her plaid shirt, and complained to management (okay that didn’t happen but it’s nice to believe.)

“Even though it’s true, they were outraged by it. Why on earth would they put on a receipt? I can’t imagine they’d write Jews or Blacks or even Disabled,” a friend of the couple said to Pink News.


“Belinda looked at me and she said, ‘Are you alright?’ I showed her and she was speechless,” James said to Diva Magazine. “We hadn’t done anything overt. We hadn’t been kissing at the bar or holding hands. We could have been friends. We could have been relations.”

“We could have been a whole host of things. So the fact he decided to identify us as lesbians was a bit horrifying,” she continued. “We were shocked at how stupid this man had been. I don’t know what upon earth possessed the staff member a) to write it and b) to hand me the receipt with it on.”

According to the restaurant, the staff member was verbally reprimanded and the ladies were offered complimentary drinks but they claim it’s not enough.

The restaurant clearly had very little experience handling lesbian outrage, the only appropriate retribution is either a gift card to Home Depot or tickets to some unfunny feminist comedienne like Ellen DeGeneres

The state-run media outlet dismissed South Korea’s insistence that the annual exercises are merely defensive, claiming: “Formations of strategic bombers loaded with nuclear bombs are always ready for sorties.”

Meanwhile, an editorial in the North Korean Rodong Sinmun newspaper said the joint military exercise is “the most explicit expression of hostility against us, and no one can guarantee that the exercise won’t evolve into actual fighting.”

It added that the exercise was like “pouring gasoline on fire and worsening the state of the [Korean] peninsula.”

Washington and Pyongyang have traded a series of threats since Kim Jong-un’s hermit regime announced it is now capable of striking US territory with an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) carrying a nuclear warhead.

US President Donald Trump responded by promising “fire and fury” and warned his military is “locked and loaded.”

Britain, America’s top European ally, could formally refuse Trump’s call for help in waging a war against North Korea, as long as Kim does not strike Hawaii or the US mainland.

The UK’s membership of NATO does not automatically oblige it to participate in a conflict between the US and North Korea, even if the latter attacks military bases in the Pacific.

Although Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty states that an attack on one NATO member is an act of aggression against the entire military alliance, the application of this provision is limited only to attacks on member states’ territories in North America, Europe and the Atlantic.

Consequently, if Kim’s warheads strike US military bases in the Pacific, the US could ask for Britain’s assistance, but cannot formally compel the UK and other NATO allies to join the military efforts against North Korea.

“Much would depend on how the war starts. North Korea, for example, might relate if the US shoots down a test missile being fired into the waters around Guam. Or it could interpret a massing of US forces on its border as the precursor for invasion.

“If it was clear that North Korea was responsible for initiating a conflict, it would be difficult for the UK not to provide strong political support for its closest ally.”

Reports from North Korea claimed Kim Jong-un had held meetings with his top aides to consider the ramifications of an intercontinental missile strike on the US territory of Guam.

Mr Trump said he would react with “fire and fury” at any attempts by North Korea to start a war, leading Pyongyang to declare it will wait for the “foolish Yankee’s” next move before deciding whether to fire a missile at Guam.

Mr Chalmers report admits Europe is as much under threat from North Korean missiles as the United States.

“London and Paris are around the same distance from North Korea as Los Angeles, as an ICBM flies,” it says.

However, it did concede it would be unlikely that Mr Trump would be given the parliamentary support in Westminster to sanction UK military assets being used in any war on the Korean Peninsula in the event of US aggression.

The report reads: “If the conflict were seen as having been initiated by Trump, it would be difficult for the Government to secure a parliamentary majority to send UK military assets to Korea.

“Perhaps the most important UK contribution, if war does break out, might, therefore, have to be diplomatic.”

Following an investigation by Danon’s staff, it was found that Raicovich has an anti-Israel background: She is the editor of a book entitled “Assuming Boycott: Resistance, Agency and Cultural Production.” In its online description of the book, the publisher states that “Boycott and divestment are essential tools for activists around the globe.”

In the book, Raicovich included an essay entitled “Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions: Reasons to Support BDS,” which justifies and endorses the movement’s actions against Israel.

A 'British' ISIS fighter has proclaimed that the terrorist organisation are planning new attacks on the West in a chilling new video which has appeared online.
The short clip shows a young black man speaking directly to the camera, with what sounds like a British accent, warning of terrorist attacks in Italy and Turkey, threatening to 'slaughter' civilians in their own homes.
The video is believed to have been filmed in the Syrian city of Raqqa, Islamic State's self-declared 'capital', during the recent battles between ISIS jihadists and Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

A Kurdish spokesman for the U.S.-led coalition said today that SDF fighters are on the verge of seizing full control of the southern neighborhoods of Raqqa, making 'consistent gains' every day.
The SDF launched the U.S.-backed campaign to seize Raqqa in early June,  with SDF fighter advancing from the east and the west now only separated by a few streets as fighting continued.
Full control of the southern districts would sever Islamic State's last remaining path to the Euphrates River which is to the south of the city.
'There is a fierce resistance from Daesh [ISIS], so we can't determine when exactly we'll take (full control). Around 90 percent of the southern neighborhoods are liberated,' the official added.

However, the civilians who remain in Raqqa - some 50,000 - are at great risk, The World Health Organisation has warned.
The UN agency said there are critical shortages of medical supplies in Raqqa, described the situation as 'particularly worrying' In an appeal for $20 million to respond to the crisis. 
'Raqqa's main hospital and many other health care facilities have closed due to airstrikes,' it said. 'The facilities that are still functioning face critical shortages of medicines, supplies and equipment.'
'Water and electricity are available only intermittently,' it said, adding that civilians were unable to move freely due to travel and security restrictions imposed by IS. 
Islamic State has lost large expanses of territory in Syria over the last year to separate campaigns waged by the SDF, the Russian-backed Syrian military, and Turkey-backed Syrian rebels.

London Mayor Sadiq Khan, who faced criticism last month over his hesitation to support designating all of Hezbollah as a terrorist organization, plans to write to U.K. Home Secretary Amber Rudd to urge her support in blacklisting the Lebanese group.

“I share the concerns of the Jewish community about support shown for Hezbollah, which is an illegal, proscribed and anti-Semitic organization,” Khan said, London’s Jewish Chronicle reported.

“Anti-Semitism or hate crime of any kind has no place in our city, where we don’t just tolerate diversity, we respect and celebrate it,” he added.

Khan had been criticized by London Assembly members for his refusal to commit to supporting a full blacklisting of Hezbollah, following the presence of Hezbollah flags during this year’s anti-Israel Al-Quds Day march in London.

London Assembly Member Andrew Boff had accused Khan of not doing his job, saying the mayor seems to be “avoiding saying, ‘Yes I’ll [confirm the designation with the home secretary].’”

The Board of Deputies of British Jews praised the London mayor for changing his stance, saying, “Hezbollah itself does not distinguish between its military and political wing, which is one and the same. The government urgently needs to follow the example of the USA, Canada and the Arab League by outlawing Hezbollah in its entirety.”

The U.S., the Netherlands, France and Canada all designate Hezbollah—in its entirely—as a terrorist organization. But the U.K., like many other European nations, only considers Hezbollah’s “military wing” to be a terror group.

Theresa May is to meet Donald Trump to discuss a post-Brexit trade deal with the United States on the final day of the G20 summit.

The Prime Minister is expected to call on the US President to reconsider withdrawing the country from the Paris Agreement on climate change after two days of “very difficult” talks.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel, whose country is hosting the summit in Hamburg, described the difficulty of the negotiations after disagreements on the Paris deal and Mr Trump’s position on free trade.

"The discussions are very difficult, I don't want to talk around that,” she said.

Mrs May is due to meet both Mr Trump and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, and is expected to tell both leaders Britain stands with them in the battle to quash the "growing threat" from North Korea following its increased programme of nuclear weapons testing.

Mrs May is holding early morning talks with Mr Trump in the margins of the gathering of world leaders which has been the target of protests in which almost 200 police officers have been injured.

As well as discussions on a possible future trading agreement with the US when Britain quits the European Union, the PM will raise the president's controversial decision to pull out of the international agreement on tackling climate change.

Mrs May said she hopes Mr Trump will take the US back into the Paris Agreement.

"I will be making that message. I will continue to give the message that the United Kingdom believes in the importance of the Paris Agreement," she told ITV.

Chinese President Xi Jinping hailed a "golden era" of relations between China and the UK and said an increase in investment from his nation since the Brexit vote showed its confidence in Britain during a meeting with Mrs May on Friday evening.

It comes after the first day of the summit saw Mr Trump hold talks with Russian president Vladimir Putin, which Moscow described as "very constructive".

Newly released data shows that 5,391 new cases of female genital mutilation (FGM) were reported in England this year, reported the BBC.

The statistics were presented by the National Health Service.

As per a law in the UK, doctors, hospital and other medical practitioners are required to report new cases of FGM.

The majority of women who were reported were victims of the barbaric procedure as children living abroad.  One-third of the newly reported victims were born in Somalia. UK-born victims comprised 112 of the reported cases.

Any intentional altering or injuring of the female external genitalia for non-medical reasons is illegal in the UK. Violators can be punished with up to 14 years in prison.

In a statement by the NSPCC, the UK’s leading child charity reiterated, “FGM is child abuse. Despite being illegal for over 30 years, too many people are still being subjected to it and it is right that health services have started to properly record evidence of this horrendous practice.

“It takes courage to report concerns as many feel ashamed or worry they will betray friends and family. But we need to end the silence that surrounds FGM to better protect children.”

A West London teen has been sentenced to life imprisonment for a plot to carry out a terrorist attack to mark the 15th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.
Haroon Syed, 19, pleaded guilty to plotting to carry out the attack between April and September 2016. He will serve a minimum of 16 years and six months.

Syed was caught after he discussed his plans over social media with a man whom he believed was a fellow jihadi named Abu Yusuf, but who was actually an undercover intelligence officer working for the British spy agency MI5.

He tried to purchase weapons from the agent, according to secretly-recorded conversations.

“Two things” he told the man he believed to be Abu Yusuf. “Number one, machine gun and we need someone who can make a vest you know the dugma [button] one. So after some damage with machine gun then do itishadi [martyrdom] … that’s what I’m planning to do.”
He met with the agent in a coffee shop to finalize plans and gave him £150 to purchase a nail bomb.
“I was thinking of Oxford Street,” he said, according to the BBC. “If you put those things inside called nails, do you know what that is, nails? Those sharp things – lots of them inside. Good man, can’t wait akhi [brother]. If I go to prison, I go to prison. If I die, I die, you understand? I have got to get to Jannah [heaven].”
Syed admitted researching targets for the attack on the internet, including the busy London shopping hub of Oxford Street and an Elton John concert in Hyde Park.
Syed’s brother, Nadir Syed, was imprisoned last year for a plot to behead someone during Britain’s Remembrance Sunday. The court heard that his brother’s arrest was a trigger for his radicalization, according to The Guardian. They also heard how he had fallen under the influence of the Al-Muhajiroun group linked to radical preacher Anjem Choudary.
“Haroon Syed is clearly a danger to the public who was prepared to carry out indiscriminate attacks against innocent people,” Deb Walsh, deputy head of the Counter Terrorism Division, told reporters.

Preachers Acquitted of UK ‘Crime & Disorder Act’ Charges Over Public Offense at Exclusivity of Gospel

BRISTOL, U.K. — Two preachers who had been found guilty earlier this year of “intentionally alarming” the public with their open-air preaching have now been acquitted in a UK appeals court.
“We hope and pray that today’s ruling will be an encouragement to Christians across the nation to continue preaching the good news,” defendant Michael Overd said in a statement on Thursday.
As previously reported, Michael Overd and Michael Stockwell had been charged by British officials last July with violating the Crime and Disorder Act of 1998, in allegedly using “threatening or abusive words or behavior or disorderly behavior within the hearing or sight of a person likely to be caused harassment, alarm or distress.” The statute specifically hones in on offenses that are “religiously motivated.”
Overd and Stockwell, along with Adrian Clark and Don Karns, had been taking turns open air preaching outside of the Bristol shopping center on July 6, as well as engaging passersby in conversation and/or holding gospel signs.
Two of those involved in the evangelism effort, Stockwell and Karns, were American citizens visiting the country to share the gospel. The men allegedly preached on a variety of issues, and took questions from those who stopped to listen—questions that ranged from Islam, Buddhism, Jehovah’s Witnesses, homosexuality and other moral and religious issues.
Police stated that some became offended by the men’s preaching and/or responses to the questions, as statements reportedly included remarks such as “Allah is the greatest deceiver—that’s in the Koran,” “David Cameron is no more a Christian than my dogs” and that false religion leads men to “the gates and the very depth of Hell.”
An online video shows the moment the men were arrested.
“The purpose of mankind is to worship God and enjoy Him,” declared Overd, who was preaching at the time. “You need to obey God and obey His commands. I hated His commands once and I remember what that mind frame is—it is like banging your head against a brick wall.”
Seconds later, Overd was approached by a police officer, who ordered him to leave the area.
“Look, you are causing a disturbance now,” the officer stated. “You are not welcome.”
“Go home! Go home!” a few men nearby chanted.
The officer warned that if Overd did not stop preaching, he would be arrested.
“For God so loved the world, guys, that He gave His only begotten…” Overd declared, advising that he was not going to leave.
The officer consequently grabbed Overd by the arm while he was speaking and pulled him away. The crowd clapped and cheered enthusiastically.
“There’s a line of freedom of speech,” the officer told Overd. “[I]t’s when you’re causing a disturbance, that is, aggravating people, anti-social behavior, which you were causing.”
“How were we causing it?” Overd asked. “What did we say?”
“People were getting angry. You were challenging [homosexuality]. You were challenging Muslims,” the officer replied.
“But just saying what the Bible says,” Overd noted.
“That’s fine,” the officer said.
“Well, if it’s fine, why are you arresting me?” Overd asked.
Stockwell, Karns and Clark were also arrested, but the charge against Karns was later dropped and the charge against Clark was dismissed last week at trial.
In February, Justices Robert Stacey, Gerry McDermot and Josephine Ramsden declared Overd and Stockwell guilty of violating the Crime and Disorder Act, and fined them nearly $2,500 each.
During the trial, prosecutor Ian Jackson argued before the court that preaching that Jesus is the only way to God “cannot be a truth” and that some passages of the Bible are not acceptable for 2016.
“To say to someone that Jesus is the only God is not a matter of truth. To the extent that they are saying that the only way to God is through Jesus, that cannot be a truth,” he declared, according to a press release issued by the Christian Legal Centre.
He contended that Stockwell and Overd had crossed the line by stating that those not following Christ are on the broad path to destruction.
“[Stockwell preached that] people were on their way to Hell because of their failure to adopt the worldview of Christianity,” Jackson told the court.
“If you are trying to come through Catholicism, through Jehovah Witness, through Mormonism, the Bible says you’re a thief and a liar, and a thief comes to steal and destroy. But Christ came that we may have life,” Stockwell had explained during the outreach.
Jackson said that it was also wrong for the preachers to include homosexuals in a list of sinners that included drunkards and thieves, contending that doing so “must be considered to be abusive and is a criminal matter.”
But attorney Michael Phillips of the Christian Legal Centre noted to the court that the men were simply citing 1 Corinthians 6:9-10, which reads, “Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the Kingdom of God? Be not deceived: Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.”
The Daily Mail reported that Jackson “told the court some of the statements made by the preachers may have been in the King James Bible, translated in 1611, but that did not mean they were acceptable in 2016.”
During this week’s appeal hearing, which lasted two days before the Bristol Crown Court, Standing Counsel Paul Diamond told those gathered that there is no right not to be exposed to ideas that one disagrees with and that passersby can simply continue walking if they do not wish to hear certain messages.
Stockwell and Overd also shared with those present that their motivation is only to share the gospel.
Judge Martin Picton, who was joined by two other appeals court judges, subsequently ruled that the prosecution could not sufficiently prove that the men were motivated by animus toward any people group.
“We conclude Mr. Stockwell did no more than express his no doubt sincerely held religious beliefs as he was entitled to do,” he said, according to the Bristol Post.
Stockwell and Overd expressed relief over their exoneration, as well as concern regarding the infringement of free speech rights in Britain.
“Our motivation for public preaching is love. We want people to have access to the good news about Jesus Christ,” Stockwell said in a statement. “When we were convicted of public order offenses in February, I was shocked that God’s message of love is now considered by some to be hateful and dangerous.”
“Freedom of speech is under increasing assault in this nation. People should be free to express their beliefs in public, without risk of harm, violence or other repercussions. That’s why today’s result is such a great victory,” he said.

The high court has now granted rights group Liberty permission to bring a legal challenge against the British government. The case will contest one of Theresa May’s flagship policies as Home Secretary, the Investigatory Powers (IP) Act; commonly known as the Snoopers’ Charter.

If the challenge is successful, it will take a small miracle for May to survive as Prime Minister. Because she’s largely responsible for the extreme law’s existence.

Liberty’s legal action would see a number of the mass surveillance elements of the act put in the dock. The high court’s decision also came as a swathe of rights advocacy groups and individuals wrote to the Tory government urging it not to sacrifice citizens’ security in its increasingly draconian anti-terrorism policies.

‘See you in court’

The IP Act essentially removes UK citizens’ right to privacy. It forces internet service providers (ISPs) to store a record of our emails, phone calls, texts and web browsing activity. And a long list of officials are able to access those records. It also allows our security services to hack devices, and legitimises their own collection of our data in bulk.

It is an act that codifies George Orwell’s 1984 into law. While you don’t see Big Brother beamed through your television screen like in that book, make no mistake, he is there. In fact, he’s everywhere.

Liberty announced its victory against the act on 30 June. The group’s director Martha Spurrier said:

We’re delighted to have been granted permission to challenge this authoritarian surveillance regime.

The Government doesn’t need to spy on the entire population to fight terrorism. All that does is undermine the very rights, freedoms and democracy terrorists seek to destroy.

If they truly want to keep us safe and protect our cybersecurity, they urgently need to face up to reality and focus on closely monitoring those who pose a serious threat.
Next steps

The group has now applied for a cost-capping order for the case; this would set an upper limit to costs. If granted, the case will then be listed for a full hearing. It will challenge four elements of the act:

The mass collection of everybody’s communications data and internet history; web browsing and the who, what, when and where of our communications.
State acquisition of bulk personal datasets; the electronic records of our lives, such as medical and financial records, where we travel, what we watch, and how we communicate.
The bulk interception and acquisition of communications content; access to the content of emails, calls, messages without suspicion of criminality.
Bulk and ‘thematic’ hacking by state agencies; covert access, control and altering of our electronic devices by authorities.
Meanwhile, 83 organisations and individuals sent a letter to five governments, including the UK. These governments are all members of the ‘Five Eyes’ alliance, a surveillance partnership between the US, UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

The letter urged ‘Five Eyes’ countries to support stronger encryption, not attempt to weaken it. The UK government has, however, regularly called for the state to be given access to encrypted communications following recent terrorist attacks in the country. But in the letter, the rights groups and individuals argue:

While the challenges of modern day security are real, such proposals threaten the integrity and security of general purpose communications tools relied upon by international commerce, the free press, governments, human rights advocates, and individuals around the world.
Legacy

May’s government has found itself inside a courtroom over its spying before. In October 2016, the Investigatory Powers Tribunal ruled that the UK government had broken its own spying laws for 17 years; while in December 2016 the EU Court of Justice found that the UK was breaking the law in its indiscriminate collection of people’s information. And rights groups brought another case in October 2016 at the European Court of Human Rights.

Now, the UK government is on course to face questions over its spying in its own high court. If, that is, Liberty manages to secure a costs cap and raise the money needed for the case. Let’s hope it succeeds. Because these groups believe this draconian law is harmful to the security services’ ability to combat terrorism. And they believe it is harmful to the fundamental rights of people in the UK.

In short, they argue that the IP Act is drowning those tasked with protecting us in too much information, while leaving the people with a drought of rights. That’s no way to run a functioning democracy at all.

A British-born Isis recruiter from Kent is desperate to return to the UK following the death of her Jihadi husband, it has been claimed.

Sally Jones, 47, fled her Chatham home and took her son to Raqqa in Syria in 2014 after marrying now-dead jihadist Junaid Hussain.

Hussain was killed in a US drone strike in 2015.

In an interview with Sky News, a woman named only as Aisha, claimed Jones had been heard crying and saying she wanted to return to the UK.

Signaling Israel’s international prominence in the field, London Mayor Sadiq Khan sought advice from Tel Aviv in combating urban terrorism and extremism following the recent terror attacks in Manchester and London Bridge, Jewish News reported.

Khan, who is Muslim, told Jewish News that his office, as well as the head of national counter-terrorism policing, Mark Rowley, had been in touch with Israeli officials over the best methods of preventing and combating acts of terror in urban or civilian settings.

He said they had learned “lots of things, things like putting in place the barriers we have done in London. There are other things and we are using the advice we receive.”

“Just like the terrorists evolve, we have to find new ways to protect ourselves,” said Khan, who added that in addition to regular contact with their Israeli counterparts, British police visit Israel as well.

The backing of seven Sinn Fein MPs for Labour would effectively reduce the Tory majority to just four, which might bring the Government to the brink of collapse, the Sun revealed.

The seven members today confirmed they will not take their seats in the House of Commons amid the intense speculation.

The party, which traditionally takes its Westminster offices but does not sit in the Houses of Parliament, said its MPs will continue to boycott the Commons. 

Sinn Fein said in a statement: “They have elected us to represent them but not to take our seats.

“We will come over to Westminster to argue with other parties and to fight for our rights and to fight for the rights of Irish citizens." 

If Theresa May fails in her bid to get the Queen’s speech through Parliament it is possible that Mr Corbyn could have the chance to form a minority Labour Government himself.

Although Gerry Adams previously said that Sinn Fein had been granted seven MPs “on the basis of us not taking our seats”.

Mr Adams added that Jeremy Corbyn is a “politician of principle” who will “understand the Sinn Fein position”.

It follows claims by the Sinn Fein president that a referendum on Irish unity is inevitable.

A nursery worker was slashed after being attacked by three women who shouted "Allah", her colleague has said.

The woman was set upon as she travelled to work at a nursery in Wanstead, north east London.

The colleague, who did not want to be named, said the victim had "three Asian girls behind her chanting the Koran, 'Allah"'.

She added: "They pulled her to the ground, punched her, kicked her. One of them pulled out a knife and cut her arm from her wrist to her elbow.

"The police turned up, the ambulance cleaned her wounds up."

In the wake of the deadly terrorist attack in Manchester, England, on Monday night — a suicide bombing that took 22 lives and for which the Islamic State has claimed responsibility — the results of a 2016 poll of British Muslims could speak to the nation’s present security concerns.

Among the findings revealed in April 2016 were that two-thirds of British Muslims would not notify police if they knew someone who was getting involved with others who support terrorism in Syria.

Other noteworthy stats: About one-third of respondents refused to condemn those who use violence against those who mock the Prophet Muhammad, and almost one-quarter agreed with the introduction of Sharia law in England.

Trevor Phillips, former chairman of the Equality and Human Rights Commission, looked at the poll results for British Channel 4 — which commissioned the survey — and called them “astonishing” and “troubling,” the Express reported.

Phillips told the Express that the numbers demonstrated “the unacknowledged creation of a nation within the nation, with its own geography, its own values and its own very separate future.”

“For a long time, I, too, thought that Europe’s Muslims would become like previous waves of migrants, gradually abandoning their ancestral ways, wearing their religious and cultural baggage lightly, and gradually blending into Britain’s diverse identity landscape,” he told the paper, the Express said.

The Muslim Council of Britain rejected the poll results, saying it contradicted findings of earlier studies, the New York Times reported. One of the group’s leaders, Miqdaad Versi, said the survey used views from a “fringe minority” to paint an inaccurate picture of the larger Muslim population in England.

Channel 4 said the poll was conducted through face-to-face interviews with 1,081 self-identifying Muslim adults in areas where Muslims constituted at least 20 percent of the population. The Times said nearly half of British Muslims weren’t eligible for the sample, citing ICM Unlimited, which conducted the poll.

Martin Boon, the polling company’s director, defended the results, the Times noted, and characterized it as “the most rigorous research into the views of British Muslims for many years.”

“There will always be a reason to treat surveys with caution — compromises have to be made and that often implies that theoretical purity is an elusive concept,” Boon told the paper. “We’ve yet to see any evidence from this poll’s detractors that Muslims living in more integrated areas have different views.”

Many know the story of Rabbi Shlomo Goren arriving at the Western Wall flanked by IDF troops in the 1967 Six Day War on the 28th of Iyyar in the Hebrew calendar.
The moment, captured in an iconic photos, shows the rabbi holding a Torah scroll and blowing a shofar at the Western Wall surrounded by young soldiers. But few people know the even more astounding story of what happened the day after that photo was taken and how Rabbi Goren single-handedly conquered the holy city of Hebron and the Cave of the Patriarchs, known as the Machpelah Cave.

The war was still raging after the Old City of Jerusalem was conquered by the IDF. Directly after the emotional scene at the Western Wall, Rabbi Goren, a general and the Chief Rabbi of the Israeli army, proceeded to join the forces gathered in the recently recaptured Gush Etzion. The troops were waiting for the morning when they would push on to battle the Jordanian Legion in Hebron.

Rabbi Goren addressed the troops, telling them of the enormous significance of Hebron to the Jews. He lay down to sleep surrounded by Israeli soldiers, telling them to wake him in time to leave for the battle the next day. However, when he awoke a few hours later, he was alone. The troops had moved on without him. He quickly woke up his driver and they set out to catch up with the Israeli forces.

Alone, they drove the short distance into Hebron and were greeted by flags of surrender, white sheets hanging from every window and rooftop. The rabbi didn’t see any Israeli soldiers and assumed they had already conquered the entire city. What the rabbi didn’t know was that he had arrived before the troops. The army had taken a longer route in order to surround the city before entering it. As he drove toward the Cave of the Patriarchs, he was the only Jew, certainly the only Jewish soldier, in a city of 40,000 Arabs.

When Rabbi Goren arrived at the large iron doors of the Cave of the Patriarchs, he found them locked.  Rabbi Goren shot at them with his Uzi machine gun, trying unsuccessfully to open the doors which had been locked to Jews for 700 years. The bullet holes are still there and can be seen by anyone visiting the site today.

The doors did not open, so he backed his jeep up and attached chains to the doors, pulling them open. Rabbi Goren entered the Machpela, blew the shofar as he had done the day before at the Kotel, set up the Torah scroll, and began to pray.

The Mufti of Hebron sent a messenger to ask Rabbi Goren, as a general of the Israeli army, to accept his surrender. He refused, sending back the answer, ”This place, the Machpelah Cave, is a place of prayer and peace. Surrender elsewhere.”

The first Israeli troops in Hebron were shocked to find an Israeli flag flying from the roof of the Machpelah. The next day, the rabbi received an urgent message from his officer, the Israeli Chief of Staff, Moshe Dayan. He ordered Rabbi Goren to take down the flag, remove the Torah from the premises and to order anyone entering to remove their shoes because the site was a mosque.
Rabbi Goren sent a message back in response: “The Torah is holy – it stays. The flag means to me what it means to you. If you want to remove it, you may, but I will not.”
Dayan sent an officer to remove the flag, but after removing the flag, the officer died in a horrible car accident on his way to report back to Dayan. Dayan then rescinded his orders.

Aweys Faqey, 37 was charged under the Terrorism Act following his arrest last week. Dutch national Mr. Faqey was detained at Stansted Airport as he was readying to board a flight to Istanbul, Turkey.Mr. Faqey had four mobile phones and £841 in foreign currency in his possession.

The court was told that Mr. Faqey was interviewed for five days by counterterrorism police before his court date, but replied “No comment” to all questions.

Thomas Halpin for the prosecution told the court: “The investigation came alive during the search of a laptop in another terrorist investigation and the communication between the defendant and Abdirahman Hassan transpired.

“He is a Kenyan man who is currently in custody in Kenya awaiting trial for terrorist offences. In essence the communication between both men was that the defendant expressed a desire to go to Syria and fight jihad.”

The court heard extracts from alleged online chat logs, which claim Mr. Faqey wanted to obtain automatic weapons and commit a terrorist attack on Jewish people in north London.

One message allegedly said: “It could have been better if AK47, M16 and BKM can be found. They could have been taken to Stamford Hill and people leave from the game.

“On Saturday a lot of Jews gather over there. It is an area of the UK where they are a majority, it’s full of people.”

Mr. Faqey has a wife and five children in the Netherlands and another wife and child in Kenya. He has resided in the UK since 2013.

Scotland Yard said his arrest had no connection to the Manchester attack.
Mr. Faqey was remanded in custody to appear at the Old Bailey on June 9.

The mother of the youngest victim of the Manchester bombing has been taken off life support and told about her daughter’s death.

She was at the Ariana Grande concert with her mother, Lisa, and older sister, Ashlee Bromwich, who is in her 20s, who were both taken to hospital.

Mrs Roussos was reportedly in a critical condition initially and on a life support machine.

In a post on Facebook group Leyland Memories, family friend Mike Swanny said Mrs Roussos was now awake, out of surgery and “aware of the situation”.

He praised the bravery of Mrs Roussos and Saffie’s father, Andrew.

He said: “I am very proud of the strength that Lisa and Andrew have as a couple their bravery though (sic) this is commendable.”

He added: “Now they can start to deal and rebuild their lives, I hope this news will make everyone smile as this is the best news we’ve had through this tragedy.”

Mr Swanny told the Lancashire Evening Post: “Lisa’s pulling through. She was in a critical condition at first, but she came off life support on Saturday and was up and talking on Sunday. She’s aware of the situation with Saffie.

“She’s still in hospital, but she’s moving her legs, which is fantastic.”

He told the newspaper Miss Bromwich was also recovering and is expected to be discharged from hospital this week.

DEVELOPING: Hackers Cripple British Airways

British Airways canceled all flights from Heathrow and Gatwick airports until 6pm after their computer systems were brought down across the entire world. Angry passengers on social media have said that their flights aren’t taking off, that there are huge queues at check-in, and that they can’t use the app or website.
There were reports of BA staff telling disgruntled passengers trying to get away for the Bank Holiday weekend that the company was under cyber attack but this has been denied by the airline.  Passenger Jo Josson said: “Officials are telling us there has been a cyber attack against BA’s systems. Even the tannoy is affected.”  Another, Michele Andjel, said a British Airways flight captain announced: “It appears to be a cyber attack.”

UK Home to 23,000 Jihadists

Intelligence officers have identified 23,000 jihadist extremists living in Britain as potential terrorist attackers, it emerged yesterday. The scale of the challenge facing the police and security services was disclosed by Whitehall sources after criticism that multiple opportunities to stop the Manchester bomber had been missed.
About 3,000 people from the total group are judged to pose a threat and are under investigation or active monitoring in 500 operations being run by police and intelligence services. The 20,000 others have featured in previous inquiries and are categorised as posing a “residual risk”.

Three men charged over ‘terror plot to detonate a car bomb’ in London

Three men appeared in court charged over an alleged “mass murder” plot to detonate a car bomb in central London. The suspected scheme, said to have been foiled by police and MI5, was allegedly inspired by Westminster killer Khalid Masood.   Police fear possible targets included Parliament, Tower Bridge, Westfield shopping centre, Heathrow Airport, the MI5 and MI6 buildings and the BBC.  Gay nightclubs, the Queen’s Guards, embassies including the Russian, US and

Hospitals across UK told to ‘prepare for further incident’ in wake of Manchester attack

The UK’s National Health Service (NHS) has issued an urgent alert to every hospital in England, including trauma centers in 27 cities, to “prepare for a further incident” during the upcoming bank holiday, British media report. With the terror threat warning in the UK having been raised to its maximum “critical” level following the terrorist attack on the
Manchester Arena concert hall on Monday, the UK’s national clinical director for trauma, Chris Moran, has released the warning calling on staff to be ready for a possible new attack in the coming days.  Having praised the “tremendous response” provided by medics in Manchester to the victims of the recent bombing, the official said this was possible not only because of the medics’ excellent skills, but also due to the “preparation that has taken place” across Britain’s hospitals. “You will be aware that we have a bank holiday weekend approaching,” he emphasized.

At the same time, most where skeptical when it comes to the Resurrection, with only 37 percent of declaring that Jesus rose from the dead. Forty percent said they did not believe that the miracle occurred, while 23 percent responded by saying they don't know.
The survey found that only 41 percent described themselves as Christians, with 33 percent stating uncertainty in whether there is a God, and 18 percent declaring that they do not believe in any God.

Around half, or 51 percent of Christian young people, noted that they would describe themselves as active Christians, meaning they pray and read the Bible regularly, with prayer being the most commonly performed activity among Christian 11–18 year olds who were surveyed.

Several other survey questions focused on non-Christians and their perceptions of believers. More than half, or 55 percent, of non-Christians said they personally know an active Christian, but only 49 percent of those said that an active Christian has spoken to them about their faith in Jesus.

Most non-Christians who know an active Christian said the first person of that description they thought of was either a family member, or a close friend.

Jimmy Dale, who serves as the Church of England's youth evangelism officer, told Premier Christian that the results of the survey are challenging.

"How do we help young people to see that actually firstly that they have something which is worth sharing but then secondly, what they are wanting to share, people are actually willing to listen to?" Dale said.

Another major ComRes survey of 2,010 British adults, reported back in April that half of the general public does not believe the Resurrection actually happened, with a quarter of people who describe themselves as Christians also doubting the event.

The survey also found that 46 percent of the public believe in some form of afterlife, while another 46 percent did not. Additionally, 20 percent of nonreligious people also said they believe in an afterlife.

Linda Woodhead, a Lancaster University professor at the Department of Politics, Philosophy and Religion, said at the time that the poll "confirms that Britain is now split down the middle between those who call themselves Christian and those who say no religion."

The UK has upgraded the country’s threat level to “critical,” the highest threat level, following the May 22 terror attack which killed 22 people at a concert in Manchester. The designation, decided upon by the Joint Terrorism Analysis Centre, means the government believes another attack may be imminent.

Law-enforcement officers are investigating whether Monday’s suicide bomber acted alone and they are pursuing leads to find and arrest anyone who may have been involved or who may be planning a fresh terrorist attack.

The bomber, Salman Abedi, 22, of Libyan descent, is feared to be part of a broader network connected to Islamic State. Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack.

British Prime Minister Theresa May ordered soldiers deployed to the streets as a means of boosting security for key sites. The soldiers are part of  “Operation Temperer,” a government plan which has been in place since 2015 but which has so far never been used.

Up to 5,000 soldiers will be deployed around the country, guarding sites including Buckingham palace, embassies and parliament.
“This means that armed police officers responsible for duties such as guarding key sites will be replaced by members of the armed forces, which will allow the police to significantly increase the number of armed officers on patrol in key locations,” Theresa May told journalists in explaining the decision.
“You might also see military personnel deployed at certain events, such as concerts and sports matches, helping the police to keep the public safe.  In all circumstances, members of the armed forces who are deployed in this way will be under the command of police officers. Precisely how the military and armed police officers will be deployed is an operational decision for police commanders.”
On May 23 a man with an axe was arrested at a vigil in Birmingham for the victims of the terrorist attack.
In an unrelated incident, a 37-year-old man was arrested attempting to board a flight to Turkey from Stansted Airport near London. He is being held on suspicion of attempting to travel to Syria and join the Islamic State.
