About
Reading the Bible in Two Years
Many of us have made a commitment at the start of a year that this is the year that we will actually read through the entire bible. We've all seen the "Yearly Bibles" that are available from various bookstores, and we've all purchased one or more of them over the years. We do it for a week or two, or even a month or two, but then something comes up, we miss a day, catch up, then miss another day or three, and break the habit.
We all read our email, most of us daily or close to daily, so .. it occurred to me that, for me, if I received an email every day with the passages in it, I'd be more inclined to actually get through the year. Of course there are many out there like me, so .. hopefully many people will find this and join the list.
So, if you are like me, and want an extra push to try to make 2011 the year that you make it through the entire bible, fill out the form near the top of this page with your e-mail address, and join me as we read through the entire bible this year.

About Bible Reading Plans offered on this site
This site offers two bible reading plans -- the One-Year plan that goes through NT,OT,Psalm and Proverbs for each day, and the Two-Year plan that is from The Lutheran Study Bible (starting at page LIX) that reads sequentially through the entire bible. The One-Year plan gives you a variety each day so you don't get bogged down in the long passages in the OT early in your reading plan, while the Two-Year plan lets you read in sequence. Both plans can be delivered to you by email or by twitter.
The following is from The Lutheran Study Bible:
A life goal for every mature Christian should be to read the entire Holy Bible. To read The Lutheran Study Bible devotionally, bookmark this page and adopt the steps below.
Recite the "Prayer to Abide by God's Revealed Will" or another prayer about God's Word (see the inside front and back covers).
Read the assigned Bible passage in the reading plan below.
Read the Law and Gospel Application Note(s) for the assigned passage
Add your daily prayer concerns, beginning with the brief prayer(s) in the application notes.
Options:
Supplement your readings with a psalm as described on page 845.
Read the Bible passages in conjuction with other devotional resources.
Journal your insights and prayer concerns.
Using this devotional plan will guide you through the entire Bible in two years.
For this system that delivers these readings to your email inbox or by twitter, we have started with the first week of 2010 and will read weeks 1-52 in the even numbered years and weeks 53-104 in the odd numbered years. If you want to start at week 1 at a point other than the calendar year, purchase a copy of The Lutheran Study Bible and use the table starting on page LIX.
