Re: VOICE OF ISRAEL
Where Are Terrorists Executed? Not In Israel
By Voice of Israel May 21, 2015 , 11:15 am
As the new Israeli government begins its term, the old political and foreign-policy issues resurface in full force.
In response to PM Netanyahu’s declaration that Jerusalem shall never be divided, the Palestinian Authority, headed by Mahmoud Abbas, wasted no time declaring, “There shall be no peace or stability in the Middle East without East Jerusalem as the capital of a Palestinian state.” So where do we go from here? While the world clearly sees the prime minister’s position as “unhelpful” to the peace process, do they judge Abbas’ Fatah party’s Nakba Day Facebook post, calling for a Palestinian state from the “Mediterranean Sea to the Jordan River,” in similar terms?
Given recent statements from Israeli and Palestinian leaders regarding Jerusalem, is there any hope for the “peace process?” Why is Israeli vice premier Silvan Shalom confident he can bring about renewed talks with the Palestinians?
In the government’s first day, Yair Lapid and his Yesh Atid party have already brought a no-confidence motion to the Knesset. Although it did not pass, does it serve the people’s interests? Shouldn’t the government be given at least some time to succeed or fail before such moves are made? Does it undermine democracy, as this is the government elected by the people?
After the Boston Marathon bomber was sentenced to death in a US Federal Court in Massachusetts, former Israeli foreign minister Avigdor Lieberman asks why Israel does not execute convicted terrorists. Should they be sentenced to death?
Despite ongoing hostilities between Israel and the Palestinians, many Palestinians continue to receive medical care in Israeli hospitals. Should this practice continue, even though it may put Israelis at risk?

Haaretz Op-Ed: ‘Jerusalem Isn’t the Capital of the Jews’
By Voice of Israel May 21, 2015 , 11:45 am
A piece in Israel’s left-wing daily denies the Jewish connection to Jerusalem. Asher Altshul, the English tour guide course director at Israel’s School of Tourism, joins VOI’s Josh Hasten to discuss. He asserts that while Jerusalem might have been politically insignificant during certain pockets of Jewish history, there is no denying the spiritual connection and special status Jerusalem has had for Jews throughout history.

In a United Strike against the Jewish State,
Who would Emerge Victorious?
By Voice of Israel May 21, 2015 , 10:45 am
If the West and the Muslim world launched a parallel military offensive against Israel, who would win?
If the West and the Muslim world launched a parallel military offensive against Israel, the latter would likely win, says VOI’s Jeremy Gimpel. He and co-host Ari Abramowitz discuss a European pattern of support for radical Islam and opposition to Israel. Denmark, for example, is paying unemployment dues to Danish ISIS terrorists, while Holland has cut pension payments to Jewish Holocaust survivors residing in Judea and Samaria (the West Bank).
Similarly, the United States is now transferring funds to Iran, which are being used to purchase aircraft aimed at destroying Israel.

What Did Obama Mean When He Called ISIS a ‘Fantasy’?
By Voice of Israel May 20, 2015 , 11:15 am
The US President said this week that the Islamic State is a “fantasy that cannot exist in the world.” Is “fantasy” the right word to use when describing these terrorists? Is it a Freudian slip on Obama’s part? VOI’s Jeremy Gimpel launches a comical tirade about Western leadership and the future of the world if entrusted to the current “leader of the free world.”

By Voice of Israel May 19, 2015 , 11:30 am

The Devil in Angel's Clothing?
By Voice of Israel May 18, 2015 , 12:30 pm
The Vatican recently recognized the "State of Palestine" and Pope Francis hailed PA President Abbas as an "angel of peace." Is Israel being sacrificed once again by the Catholic Church?
With the new Israeli government instated, the pressure is on Israel to return to the negotiating table. VOI’s Daniel Seaman and Daniela Traub discuss how the European Union is pushing for a renewal of peace talks, while making it clear to the Palestinians that they need not negotiate at all.
They also raise the issue of the Vatican recognizing the “state of Palestine,” with the Pope referring to PA President Mahmoud Abbas as an “angel of peace.” This, they say, constitutes an abandonment of the Christians being persecuted and murdered throughout the Middle East, as well as a “sacrificing” of Israel.

Guardian of Zion Joe Lieberman: ‘Move the US Embassy to Jerusalem’
By Voice of Israel May 18, 2015 , 11:55 am
On the eve of receiving this year’s Guardian of Zion Award from the Ingeborg Rennert Center for Jerusalem Studies at Bar-Ilan University, former US senator from Connecticut Joe Lieberman talks to VOI’s Judy Lash Balint about America-Israel ties.
More specifically, the former member of the Democratic Party, who was the party’s nominee for vice president in the 2000 election, weighs in on the relationship between President Barack Obama and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Today an independent, still associated with the Democrats, Lieberman says that moving the US Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem would send the “right message.”

Was Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu telling the truth when he said a Palestinian State will not be created on his watch? VOI’s Mottle Wolfe is joined in-studio by Yishai Fleisher to discuss post-election realities. Issues they discuss are the fact that the majority of Israelis supports Netanyahu’s vision; that the two-state solution is dead; and that neither international pressure nor BDS is going to change that.
