Report: Nellie Ohr, wife of senior Obama official, named in criminal referral

Thanks to a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request from conservative watchdog group Judicial Watch, a criminal referral has been issued against the wife of a senior member of the Barack Obama administration.

Nellie Ohr, the wife of Associate Deputy Attorney General Bruce Ohr, been accused of working with the Hillary Clinton campaign in 2016 to take down then-presidential candidate Donald Trump.

“Hi honey” emails
According to reports, Nellie Ohr sent a series of “Hi honey” emails to her husband and other ranking Justice Department officials including open-source research detailing Trump’s relationship with Russia. This “back-door marital channel” is especially troubling given Mrs. Ohr’s status as a contractor with Fusion GPS — the opposition research firm hired by the Clinton campaign in 2016 to collect dirt on Trump.

Through a third party law firm, Clinton commissioned Fusion GPS to put together a dossier examining Trump’s ties with Moscow. For this task, Ohr’s company hired former British spy Christopher Steele, who put together an unverified and salacious dossier claiming that Trump was a Russian puppet.

The Steele dossier, as it came to be known, was later used by the FBI to obtain wiretap warrants against a member of the Trump campaign. The DOJ failed to tell the judges responsible for approving those warrants that the dossier was funded by the Clinton campaign and was entirely unverified.

The implications of this are devastating; armed with information relayed from a Clinton contractor to Ohr’s husband at the Justice Department, the Clinton campaign may have used the Obama administration to pursue a false criminal investigation against Trump.

Fabricating a connection
Nellie Ohr’s research at Fusion focused primarily on a project designed to implicate Trump and his former campaign manager Paul Manafort in a conspiracy with Russian organized crime. She sent at least 339 pages of emails from her private account to DOJ emails belonging to her husband and three other prosecutors: Lisa Holtyn, Ivana Nizich, and Joseph Wheatley.

“Hi Honey, if you ever get a moment you might find the penultimate article interesting — especially the summary in the final paragraph,” Ohr wrote to her husband on July 6, 2016. She linked to an open-source article that described Trump as Russian President Vladimir Putin’s stooge: “If Putin wanted to concoct the ideal candidate to service his purposes, his laboratory creation would look like Donald Trump,” the article explained in its final paragraph.

“Such overt political content flowing into the email accounts of a DOJ charged with the nonpartisan mission of prosecuting crimes is jarring enough,” The Hill’s John Solomon recently wrote of the situation. “It raises additional questions about potential conflicts of interest when it is being injected by a spouse working as a Democratic contractor trying to defeat Trump, and she is forwarding her own research to her husband’s department and co-workers.”

During closed-door testimony before the House Judiciary Committee last year, Mrs. Ohr told lawmakers that she “was asked to research Trump’s family broadly in connection with any — any Russian connections,” adding that she “did some research on all of them, but not in much depth.”

But in the aforementioned July 6, 2016 email, Nellie Ohr sent the DOJ her research on a Russian oligarch named Rinat Akhmetov, whom she later told the House panel she was investigating for any known ties to Trump. She told the committee:

Rinat Akhmetov is someone who also was associated with Manafort. Now, he’s Ukrainian, and right now, I can’t remember whether people explicitly, you know, pointed to particular organized crime activity that he’s suspected of.

In other emails, Ohr attempted to establish a Trump-Russia connection by sending the DOJ publicly available academic and news media sources that loosely supported her thesis. For instance, she shared reports showing that then-Russian ambassador to Washington Sergey Kislyak attended Trump’s April 2016 foreign policy speech, and she tried to establish connections between then-Trump campaign adviser Carter Page and Russian energy magnates.

A criminal referral
Last week, Rep. Mark Meadows (R-NC) sent a criminal referral to Attorney General William Barr alleging that Nellie Ohr “knowingly provided false testimony” last year during her appearance before the House Oversight and Judiciary Committees. Ohr answered, “No,” when House lawyers asked: “At any point prior to fall of 2016, did you discuss your research on organized crime and Donald Trump with individuals outside of Fusion GPS?”

Clearly, Mrs. Ohr was not being candid. The FOIA request obtained by Judicial Watch proves that she was in regular contact with her husband and other DOJ prosecutors throughout the summer of 2016. In fact, as early as May 2016, she alerted her husband to the existence of a “black ledger” containing a “trove of documents” which eventually led to Manafort’s resignation from the Trump campaign.

“The documents show that Nellie Ohr had extraordinary access to the Justice Department,” said Tom Fitton, president of Judicial Watch. “Nellie Ohr may as well as have had a desk at DOJ.”

Former Deputy National Security Advisor to President Obama, Ben Rhodes seemed visibly uncomfortable in a recent interview where he was asked about the Obama administration’s “involvement” in the Trump-Russia investigation and the anti-Trump dossier.
PJ Media’s Nick Ballasy sat down with Rhodes and asked him if the Department of Justice would find anything linking the Obama administration to the origins of the investigation into President Trump.

“No, no, look…look, I cannot be clear enough about this. We didn’t even know there was an FBI investigation of Trump. I didn’t. President Obama didn’t, like, we don’t…we actually abided by the firewalls between – if there were any investigations that took place, those decisions were made in the Justice Department, in the FBI, not in the White House,” he said.

“They will find nothing that suggests there was any political or White House involvement in any of that. Literally, I learned about the FBI investigation of Trump as a private citizen in the frickin’ Washington Post. Like, so, like this, you have to understand, we actually abided by the longstanding practice of the White House not getting involved in that kind of stuff,” he continued.

Dan took to Twitter to react to Rhodes’ comments, writing, “With the exception of the suspicious Aug FBI text ‘the White House is running this,’ the suspicious Sept ‘POTUS wants to know everything’ FBI text & the suspicious Oct text where the FBI & CIA are coordinating their message for a WH meeting, Ben thinks there’s nothing to see here.”

When Ballasy brings up the anti-Trump dossier by Christopher Steele, Rhodes quickly interjects, “We had nothing to do with that, nothing.”

“I saw it, uh, I heard about it at the very end when, you know, in January of 2000 um…2017, like, we weren’t involved in commissioning the dossier like that’s crazy, you know, um. We learned about it when it was in the report that was um, uh, that appended to the report that went to Congress at the end of the administration,” Rhodes said.

“I have been investigated by these committees and I’m telling you they didn’t find it. Like we didn’t… no, we had nothing to do with the dossier. I mean, like literally, like nothing to do with this dossier.”

Secret internal reports and memos by one of George Soros’s left-wing front groups reveals the socialist billionaire’s subversive reach within the Obama administration, the United Nations, and the governing structures European Union, especially as it relates to the manufactured refugee/migration crisis.

Among the many noteworthy points made by Soros activists in one report is the assertion that the migrant/refugee tsunami that has already swamped Europe with 1-2 million Muslim migrants should be accepted as “the new normal.” This is not surprising, but it is alarming. It is not surprising because for many years Soros and his minions have been in the vanguard of the Open Borders/Migration Lobby. It is alarming because the radical “migration rights” agenda of the Soros network is being translated into official policy, nationally and globally.

A May 12, 2016 report of the International Migration Institute (IMI), an official project of Soros’s Open Society Foundations (OSF), provides an important window to view the working relationships among the IMI refugee activists and their allies inside the Obama administration and the United Nations. The nine-page report, by top IMI staffers Anna Crowley and Kate Rosin, entitled “Migration Governance and Enforcement Portfolio Review,” is one of many Soros/OSF documents released this week by DCLeaks.com, which describes itself as a project “launched by the American hacktivists” who “believe U.S. citizens have the right to know how domestic and foreign policies of the United States are shaped and who the real policy maker is.”
 
Quite clearly, when it comes to migrant/refugee policy, Soros and his fellow globalists are the real policy makers. Soros staffers Crowley and Rosin call for “accepting the current crisis as the new normal and moving beyond the need to react.”

Their report also provides revealing details on the Soros/IMI/OSF relationship to Goldman Sachs titan Peter Sutherland, the UN’s top globalist agent in charge of designing and implementing the UN’s chaos-producing migration programs.

“The Columbia Global Policy Initiative (CGPI), which hosts the secretariat for Peter Sutherland, the UN Secretary General’s Special Representative on International Migration, has been able to take advantage of momentum created by the current crisis to shape conversations about rethinking migration governance,” write Crowley and Rosin in the leaked report. The Soros staffers continue, noting the key role played by their IMI “think tank”: “IMI provided project support for the drafting of The Sutherland Report, which aims to set the stage for institutional reforms to global migration governance, and to break new ground on protections for migrants outside the asylum system.”

The Soros/IMI report continues: 

When we made the CGPI grant, even we were somewhat skeptical about the appetite for reform of the institutions that govern elements of migration at the international level, and the pace at which it might proceed. Nonetheless, we recognized the importance of starting this discussion, and the political capital Sutherland could leverage to bring high-level attention to the issue. This gamble has arguably paid off: as the September UN and President Obama’s summits on migrants and refugees have taken shape, Sutherland’s team has effectively drawn on work and thinking it had already done to influence the scope and deliverables of these two meetings. 

How effective has the Soros-Sutherland tag team been? Crowley and Rosin say: 

IMI’s access to the Sutherland team’s discussions has allowed us to keep civil society partners up-to-date on the latest developments, in order to inform advocacy and campaigning strategies prior to the events and to plan follow up actions. 

CGPI’s elite-level behind the scenes advocacy through Peter Sutherland, has positioned its team of experts to influence policy and practical follow-up to global events. This has been complemented by MPI’s [Migration Policy Institute’s] neutral voice and ability to generate the policy-relevant research and evidence base needed to shape migration debates. This pairing has worked well and there is a natural collaboration between the experts that both centers engage. 

First, a few important notes about the above-mentioned Peter Sutherland. While not a household name, he is very well known in the corridors of power, and he is having an impact on almost every household on the planet. As we reported here last October (Insider Peter Sutherland: EU-U.S. Must Take More Refugees, Get Rid of Sovereignty), Peter Sutherland is an insider’s insider; he epitomizes the uber-rich, globalist-corporatist elite. Here is a partial listing of his internationalist credentials: 

• Until this past June, Sutherland was chairman of Goldman Sachs International, the global banking behemoth known to critics as the “vampire squid” for its predatory, corrupt practices;

• he is a regular attendee and former Steering Committee member of the ultra-secretive, ultra-elite Bilderberg Group;

• he was European chairman of the Trilateral Commission;

• he is past chairman of British Petroleum (BP);

• he is honorary president of the Transatlantic Policy Network (TPN), one of the principal corporatist insider organizations promoting EU-U.S. merger through the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP);

• as a principal architect of the WTO, he has been hailed as “the father of globalization”; and

• as a top Eurocrat, he played a lead role in destroying national sovereignty by replacing national currencies (and national monetary control) with the euro, as well as engineering the “borderless Europe,” which the current migrant crisis is now proving to have been so destructive. 

In addition, Sutherland and Soros both sit on the Advisory Board of the Global Policy Institute (GPI), a leading think tank promoting world government under the guise of “global governance.” Sutherland forecast much of his current UN refugee agenda in an essay for the GPI journal, Global Policy, in February 2010, entitled, “The Age of Mobility: Can we make migration work for all?”

It is worth noting that the Columbia Global Policy Initiative (CGPI), which the Soros report mentions funding and collaborating with, refers to the organization established at Columbia University that has become a leading force for the radical migration agenda. The CGPI is run by Professor Michael Doyle, who, naturally, is a member of the world-government promoting Council on Foreign Relations (CFR). Other prominent CFR members on the CGPI directory include Jeffrey Sachs, Joseph Stiglitz, Carol Gluck, and Lee Bollinger.

In an interview with Sean Hannity on Monday, Newt Gingrich blamed Barack Obama’s arrogance for the collapse of the Democratic Party.

The former House speaker said that the “yes we can” president turned out to be more of an “I, me, I, me,” president, much to his party’s detriment.

“I think we should remember that the ‘I, me, I, me’ president presided over the collapse of his own party,” Gingrich said. His comments were in response to a weekend speech that Obama gave in Berlin in which the former president issued a rare rebuke to his party, warning that 2020 Democrats would destroy each other in a “circular firing squad” if they go too far left.

Gingrich blames Obama’s ego for party
Speaking on Hannity, Gingrich laid the fall of the Democratic Party squarely at Obama’s feet. He made note of the Democratic Party’s significant losses under Obama’s tenure, including their loss of the House majority in 2010. Democrats did not get the House back until this year.

“They lost more state legislative seats, governorships, control of the U.S. House, control of the Senate,” he said. “In a sense, that’s because, in the end, Barack Obama loved Barack Obama. The country sort of wanted somebody to actually deliver something.”

While beloved by liberals for his “scandal-free” presidency and eloquence, Obama’s manner was more elite and pompous to many. But even as his party goes up in flames, Obama’s tune hasn’t changed.

The former narcissist-in-chief reportedly set a new record for the number of times he referred to himself in a weekend speech in Berlin. Obama made 392 references to himself, beating a previous record of 171, according to the Washington Examiner.

But Gingrich said that despite Obama’s failures and egocentrism, liberals still love him because the media loves him. “He presided over the biggest collapse of the Democratic Party in modern times but because of the news media, you’d never quite know that,” he said.

Obama reckons with the mess he made
The Democratic Party’s recent turn toward the extreme left, which has been gleefully welcomed by Republicans, started with a lurch leftward under Obama. Obama’s comments on race relations, his extra-judicial executive order to protect illegal immigrants (DACA), and his endorsement of radical views on marriage deepened cultural divides and set up the political powder keg of the Trump era.

The election of President Trump further radicalized Obama’s party, and over the last two years — and particularly in the last few months alone, as the Democratic primaries kicked off — the Democrats have embraced an extreme agenda of open borders, late-term abortion, “Medicare for All,” and even slavery reparations. Now, Obama seems to be regretting the far-left push that he helped inaugurate.

Speaking in Berlin, Obama seemed to warn 2020 Democrats that going too far left will put them in a weak electoral position. The former president urged Democrats to not label everyone who disagrees with them a racist, pushed back against open borders, and called for Democrats to support assimilation for new migrants.

“I worry sometimes when, as we think about how to deal with the immigration issue, we think that any moves towards assimilation of the existing newcomers to the existing culture is somehow a betrayal or a denial of people’s heritage or what have you,” Obama said. “if you’re going to have a coherent, cohesive society then everybody has to have some agreed-upon rules, and there’s gonna have to be some accommodations that everybody makes, and that includes the people who are newcomers.”

Obama also expressed concern that an ideological purity spiral is causing progressives to attack each other in a “circular firing squad.”

His comments come as Democratic candidates for president — including Joe Biden, Beto O’Rourke, and Kamala Harris — have issued apologies for past, insufficiently woke stances and statements on various social issues. For example, South Bend, Indiana mayor Pete Buttigieg prostrated himself before the far left this week for saying “all lives matter” in 2015.

It’s all an ironic turn of events for the president who once disparaged “bitter clingers” to Bibles and guns. Obama promised “hope and change” — is this what his followers expected?

While making a European swing to benefit his Obama Foundation, Barack Obama belittled America by saying Europe is “wealthier, healthier, and better educated” than his home country — and everywhere else in the world.

Presidential Insults
Obama clearly holds all of Europe in very high regard — so much so, in fact, that he seems to think it’s better than the U. S. of A.

“Collectively in Europe right now on average you probably see the highest standards of living of any group of people in the history of the planet,” Obama said. “Europe in 2019 in some ways has achieved the pinnacle of human well-being.”

Is it better that terrorists are running freely on their streets? Is it better that Sharia Law is regularly carried out in local communities?

Are the riots we regularly see in the streets of France and London really the “pinnacle of human well-being?”

Immediate Pushback
Obama’s words against his country resemble what would come from a traitor — plain and simple.

As such, the remarks had no sooner hit the internet when Americans pushed back.

Some critics mentioned the Yellow Vests movement in France that is protesting, among other things, the absurdly high cost of living in the country.
There were also more than a few mentions of Germany, as the country has more or less been turned over to Islam.

Of course, gender-bashing was also mentioned. Indeed, if liberals think it is bad here, they should consider some of the European legislation that will have you tossed in jail for misidentifying your gender.
Simply put, there was no excuse for these comments from Obama. He should be ashamed.

The radical change to the far left is so bad that even former President Barack Obama can see it.

While appearing at an event in Berlin for the Obama Foundation, former President Obama warned that Democrats may be creating a “circular firing squad” within the party with their insistence on pushing more and more leftward.

Going Too Far Left
Believe it or not, there was a time when Obama would have been considered a moderate Democrat.

Among other things, he had made some pretty scathing speeches about immigration and the need to control it.

But that stance changed after he got into the White House and people like George Soros starting to get into his ear.

Quickly, Barack Obama went from being a moderate to a hardline progressive.

Oddly enough, the man that started the far-left swing in the party now thikgs today’s candidates and elected representatives are taking it too far.

Take It or Leave It
The wake-up call for Obama may have been when Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) introduced her botched Green New Deal, then threatened her fellow Democrats in office with being put on a blacklist among advocates if they don’t stand against the GOP.

“One of the things I do worry about sometimes among progressives in the United States – maybe its true here as well – is a certain kind of rigidity where we say, ‘Uh, I’m sorry, this is how it’s going to be,’ and then we start sometimes creating what’s called a ‘circular firing squad,’” Obama said.

Indeed, Ocasio-Cortez’s list — and the fact that Nancy Pelosi did not rein her in — is proof-positive of that.

Our political system is set up for compromise, which is something today’s politicians are incapable of doing.

Democrats have taken an all-or-nothing stance with Trump, which makes it even more amazing he has been able to accomplish what he has.

If, however, politicians on both sides do not quickly understand the art of compromise, the ideology of this country will be overhauled, and not for the better. Even Obama realizes this.

Barack Obama promised supporters at a recent event in Berlin that he doesn’t plan on returning to politics — at least, he joked, not without divorce papers.
“I’ve held my last political office,” the former president said. “Michelle would leave me if I ever ran for office again.”

Headed for divorce?
Obama, who is now 57, made the joke during an address at an event in Germany sponsored by the Obama Foundation.

There, the former president spoke with “emerging European leaders” about inequality, nationalism, and climate change before promising that he remains “deeply invested” in promoting human rights, democracy, and equality.

But while his talk focused on typical leftist talking points, Obama pledged that his self-named foundation is “non-partisan.”

“I’m not here to support any political party,” he said.

With more and more accusations of inappropriate conduct being levied against Joe Biden, everyone wants to know why Barack Obama has not come to the aid of his vice president.

But according to Dana Perino, former George W. Bush press secretary and current Fox News contributor, Obama is right to sit on the sidelines for now.

Saving His Hole Card
According to Perino, if Biden decides to run, he is going to get have to answer for these allegations when he faces off against Trump.

If Obama were to step in now, Biden would be using his best move in terms of a high-profile personality defending him. Since we don’t even know if Biden is going to run, why waste Obama now?

“I think he has only one chance to weigh in either as the kingmaker in his primary, or to step in at the last moment, if there’s a really nasty primary at the end, he only has one shot to do that,” Perino said.

She went on: “Biden has to prove that he can win this on his own. Imagine if Obama has to come out now and save him. Hundreds of more women could come and say they have similar experiences with Joe Biden. He’s been hugging people his whole life, is what he says.”

The allegations against Biden may be one of the most difficult scandals to navigate. Is this just a case of creepy behavior, or do his actions actually constitute sexual harassment?

Remember, Biden is 76 years old, and he grew up in an age of politicking when giving hugs and kisses was considered a good thing.

Having said that, there is no denying that some of the pictures we have seen would make your stomach turn.

Would I want Biden within arms reach of my daughter or spouse? Not a chance.

But, to this point, the only allegations made against Biden are that he smelled hair, kissed the back of heads, and generally made women uncomfortable.

In all likelihood, Biden may be letting this play out before he calls in the big guns to defend him, more or less supporting Perino’s view on this.

But what if the accusations actually get worse, and Biden is accused of doing something really awful?

Can Obama risk defending this man now if there is a possibility of someone coming forward with a much worse allegation?

As Perino stated, Biden is on his own — at least for now.

After getting butchered by the mainstream media for a week straight over accusations of inappropriate touching, conventional wisdom suggests that former Vice President Joe Biden’s election odds should be slipping. However, Biden remains the early favorite in a crowded Democratic field filled with political heavyweights.

From the progressive left’s perspective, Biden is a terrible candidate, but the Democrat from Delaware has a “secret weapon”: former President Barack Obama, who remains enormously popular with Democrat voters. As Obama’s former right-hand man, Biden benefits from Obama’s popularity simply by association, argues CNN analyst Harry Enten.

Ratings don’t lie
According to the latest Gallup poll, Biden enjoys an 80% favorable rating among Democrats, compared to just 9 percent who disapprove of him. Those are impressive numbers, but what is truly astounding is that the expected presidential nominee scored the same favorability ratings in January.

In the intervening weeks, Biden was pummeled by successive news reports that cast him as a #MeToo villain for failing to keep his hands to himself. First, a former Nevada state assemblywoman penned an op-ed describing how Biden touched her inappropriately and kissed her on the back of her head at a campaign rally in 2014.

Just days later, a congressional aide described how Biden awkwardly put his hand around her neck and pulled her toward him to rub noses. “This is the Al Franken thing all over again,” she said.

Apology tour
But Biden is disliked for more than just his inability to respect personal space. As chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Biden oversaw the contentious Anita Hill hearings in 1991, and he has been unable to live down accusations that he mistreated Hill by allowing the panel to badger her.


The charges have bothered Biden enough that now, even three decades later, he finds it necessary to apologize for his behavior. “She was taken advantage of. Her reputation was attacked. I wish I could have done something,” Biden said in March.

Then, of course, there is Biden’s remarkably moderate voting record. It’s hard to imagine a constituency that continues a slow but inexorable slide to the left voting for Biden. It’s even harder to pretend that Biden can succeed in a party that has become inherently hostile to white men — especially old white men like Biden.

And yet, the 76-year-old’s saving grace is that he spent eight years working beside a liberal folk hero. “Democrats like Biden because he was the vice president to the most popular Democrat in the country, Barack Obama,” wrote Enten.

“Biden’s best chance of winning is not to run from his record,” Enten continued. “It’s merely to focus on his most recent record. Biden should point voters to his time as Obama’s number two. It’s far from a guarantee that it will work, though it really could help ameliorate the potential flaws of his past record in the Senate.”


Innocent by association
The left continues to worship Obama. Some 2018 polls indicate that the former president has an incredible 97% favorability rating among Democrats.

In fact, according to Michigan State University Professor Matt Grossmann, Democrat voters are more likely to identify as an “Obama Democrat” than as “liberal Democrat,” “progressive,” or “Democratic Socialist.”

Mark Levin came out swinging over the weekend against the Obama administration officials who promoted the now-discredited Trump-Russia collusion hoax. 

Speaking on his Fox News show on Sunday, the nationally syndicated radio host called for an investigation into the Obama government for its role in spying on now-President Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign and getting the Russia collusion probe, headed by Robert Mueller, off the ground.

Mueller’s investigation concluded Friday with the special counsel recommending no new indictments, and his subsequent report dealt a profound blow to the left’s central political narrative of the last two years.  With Russigate falling apart in spectacular fashion, Levin said that the real collusion has been exposed: between the Obama intelligence community, the Democrats, and the media.

“You have collusion — between the Democratic Party, the media, and the Obama administration,” Levin said on Sunday. “The Democratic Party is not a pro-America party. They act like a third-world party because they want to destroy this presidency. It is time to focus on the Democrats in the House. It is time to focus on the media, the Hillary campaign, the DNC, Barack Obama — this was Barack Obama’s government that did all this when interfering in our election.”

As the Russia hoax saturated headlines for almost two years, mostly conservative journalists and outlets have uncovered what the smoke from Russiagate obscured: the Democrats and the Clinton campaign paid for political opposition research provided by Fusion GPS, contained in the infamous Christopher Steele Dossier, which the Obama administration then used to launch an investigation into the Trump campaign.

The Obama Justice Department used the allegations in that dossier — now proven beyond a shadow of a doubt to be false — to obtain warrants under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) to spy on an unsuspecting, low-ranking Trump campaign official, Carter Page. That spying marked the inception of the Russia collusion investigation that dogged Trump for the first half of his first term in office.

Former President Barack Obama will have to wait a little longer to break ground on his massive Obama Presidential Center.

A local environmental group, Protect Our Parks, won the first of what will probably be multiple legal battles against the construction of the facility.

Win Some, Lose Some
In this case, U.S. federal Judge John Robert Blakey handed a win to Protect Our Parks to at least delay groundbreaking on Obama’s Presidential Center. The group is fighting the project on the basis that the city has no right to use public land for private purposes.

According to several reports, the deal negotiated by Mayor Rahm Emanuel offers very favorable terms for the Obama project. But there are issues with some wildlife that could be displaced by the building.

The judge’s ruling emphasized the need to review this case in full at a later date.

But while his ruling did at least delay the beginning of construction, the judge struck down several other aspects of the lawsuit.

Meanwhile, the group has noted that it does not disapprove of the project nor does it disapprove of it being located on the South Side. They even said that if the project was moved elsewhere — and they have several locations on the South Side that they believe make more sense — they would drop the lawsuit altogether.

Team Obama Not Deterred
Unfortunately, race has become a focal point of the lawsuit for some Chicagoans.

Because two members of the protesting organization are white and do not live in the area, they are being called out for even being interested in this project.

Torrey Barrett, who is working on developing economic opportunities related to the Obama project, said: “It would be different if it was a resident who lived on the South Side who actually had an interest in Jackson Park.”

“We worked really hard to get Chicago selected and the South Side selected. And here we are with this setback,” Barrett added, apparently ignoring that Protect Our Parks suggested multiple other locations nearby that could work for the project.

As it stands right now, the group representing the Presidential Center is moving forward as much as possible with the assumption that they will be able to break ground at the Jackson Park location.

Meanwhile, the judge in the case has set a review date for later this month and has insisted that he does not want to keep this matter tied up in the courts for an unnecessarily long time.

Barr was confirmed by the US Senate last week to serve as President Trump’s newest Attorney General and has routinely pledged to make Mueller’s findings as “transparent as possible.”

Testimony from DOJ official Bruce Ohr that has been kept secret from the public reveals that he delivered yet another Russia dossier to the FBI which was compiled by his wife, Nellie.

According to The Hill’s John Solomon, Ohr admitted to handing the FBI a computer drive full of information from his wife who worked for Fusion GPS–the opposition research firm hired by the Clinton campaign and DNC to create the original anti-Trump dossier.

Solomon writes:

The way Ohr described it, his wife’s research was like an additional dossier assembled from Fusion GPS research to augment what [Christopher] Steele was separately providing the FBI.

“She (Nellie Ohr) provided me with a memory stick that included research she had done for Fusion GPS on various Russian figures,” Ohr told congressional investigators.
“And the reason she provided that information to me is, my understanding was, it related to some of the same — it related to the FBI’s Russia investigation. And she gave me that stick to give to the FBI.”

Has former President Barack Obama’s landmark health care bill actually created a situation where Americans were being refused care?

A recent study takes it one step further and suggests mortality rates among our nation’s poorest communities actually increased because of penalties incurred by the Obamacare legislation.

According to the study, which was published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, hospitals were being fined heavily for readmitting Medicare patients within one month of being discharged.

This was due to a program created by Obamacare called the Hospital Readmissions Reduction Program, or HRRP, which was implemented in 2012. It was established because Medicare saw costs approaching $20 million specifically related to readmissions “abuse.”

From 2010 to 2016, the study reported a 2.3 and 3.6 percent reduction in readmissions for heart failure, heart attacks, and pneumonia.

However, during that same time, the study stated there was a “significant increase” in post-discharge death rates in heart failure and pneumonia cases.

Unintended consequences
The idea behind the HRRP legislation was that it would result in better patient care during the first visit, and of course, save money.

The problem with this is most of the violations were apparently happening in hospitals known as “safety net” hospitals.

These are the hospitals in poorer communities utilized by the poorest and sickest people.

The specific conditions cited in the study were heart failure, heart attacks, and pneumonia.

Many of these individuals did not have a regular doctor, could not afford medications or did not have a doctor to oversee their recovery post-hospital stay.

Instead, they were being pushed through the system, discharged, then hospitals were less likely to readmit them when a problem reoccurs for fear of being hit with a major fine for doing so.

Fortunately, the rules were adjusted in September to ease the requirements on “safety-net” hospitals which primarily serve the poor. But it may have been too late for some.

Though the 2018 midterm elections are just barely behind us, America’s focus has already shifted to the 2020 election and the plethora of potential Democratic candidates who will battle for their party’s nomination.

By all accounts, the Democratic front-runner is former Vice President Joe Biden — but word is that Biden is upset that his friend and former boss Barack Obama has not embraced his candidacy, and is instead spending time meeting with other potential candidates.

Vanity Fair reported that Obama recently met with failed Texas Senate candidate Beto O’Rourke — who is considering a 2020 presidential run — among other potential candidates in the past couple of months.

Those meetings were said to have Biden “less than thrilled” at the perceived slight, though a Biden spokesman Bill Russo countered those reports as “unequivocally false. Period.”

Obama not picking a “winner” yet
Obama reportedly still considers Biden to be a close friend, but the former president was said to be wary about embracing any particular candidate too early in the primary process, given what happened in 2016 when the field was essentially cleared of potential challengers — including Biden — by the party ahead of the preordained yet failed run by Hillary Clinton.

An unnamed former Obama adviser explained: “So his position this time is, ‘If you’re serious and you want to talk, I’ll talk to you.’ As things unfold, he might say, ‘Let’s all stay focused.’ But he’s not going to pick a winner.”

Another former Obama adviser, John Del Cecato, said: “I know President Obama has tremendous respect for Biden. But he also appreciates the dark-horse candidates or those who haven’t been as plugged in.”

A snub that may not matter in the end
But an unnamed top Democratic strategist suggested the distance from Obama could actually work out in Biden’s favor over time.

“If I were Biden, I wouldn’t want to be in a situation where Obama is saying, ‘Look, you’ve got to be for my VP,’” the strategist said. “Democrats don’t like to be told who to vote for.”

They added: “Many people lined up behind Sanders in 2016 because they didn’t want to be told to support Hillary. Biden doesn’t want to fall into that trap, to have Obama embrace him too exclusively, too early.”

Still, another unnamed adviser understood why Biden might be a little peeved at Obama’s “flirtations” with other candidates.

“If Obama is playing footsie with people now, it creates tension,” the adviser said. “And it gets you some media attention and maybe some staffing. But actual voters? Obama himself has always been popular with Democrats, but I’ve never seen his popularity be transferable to someone else.”

At the end of the day, Joe Biden is a 76-year-old white man who hails from the shrinking portion of the party that is more moderate and focused on working-class Americans than the more progressive left-leaning wing of the party that wants younger, non-white, non-male candidates to take the reins from older leaders.

While he might love to see his candidacy embraced by Obama, voters may have somebody else in mind regardless of whom the former president chooses to support.

(Washington, DC) Judicial Watch today released two sets of heavily redacted State Department documents, 38 pages and 48 pages, showing classified information was researched and disseminated to multiple U.S. Senators by the Obama administration immediately prior to President Donald Trump’s inauguration. The documents reveal that among those receiving the classified documents were Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA), Sen. Ben Cardin (D-MD), and Sen. Robert Corker (R-TN).

Judicial Watch obtained the documents through a June 2018 Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit filed against the State Department after it failed to respond to a February 2018 request seeking records of the Obama State Department’s last-minute efforts to share classified information about Russia election interference issues with Democratic Senator Ben Cardin (Judicial Watch v. U.S. Department of State (No. 1:18-cv-01381)).

The documents reveal the Obama State Department urgently gathering classified Russia investigation information and disseminating it to members of Congress within hours of Donald Trump taking office.

In a Thursday, January 5, 2017, email chain then-State Department Congressional Advisor Hera Abassi indicates that then-Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Victoria Nuland’s bureau was attempting to get Russian investigation related documents to the office of Senator Mark Warner (D-VA) office as quickly as possible. (In June 2016 Nuland permitted a meeting between Steele and the FBI’s legal attaché in Rome. Nuland told CBS News that the State Department knew about the Steele dossier by July 2016.)
In the email, with the subject line “For Immediate Review – Call Sheet for S Call with Senator Warner,” Abassi writes:

“I told Cardin’s folks … that the process is long. Can we ensure that there are no holdups on our end?”

Minutes later, Abassi confirms that Nuland was fully aware of the information that the State Department was providing to members of Congress alleging Russia interference information:

“This is definitely on EUR A/S radar!”

Leaving no doubt that the State Department officials knew they were transmitting classified information, in a Wednesday, January 18, 2017, email with the subject line “Cables/M,” Former Foreign Service Officer Kerem Bilge writes to State Department Congressional advisor Hilary Johnson and others: “Highest class is SECRET/NOFORN.”
Johnson replies:

“FYI – so we can keep the SECRET/NOFORN header, and should declassify it 25 years from tomorrow.

“I forwarded the fully cleared version to the two of you on the high side [Editor’s Note: “high side” is State Department term for high security classification system], but let me know if there’s anything else you need from me on this.

“Note: we’ll need to make sure there is someone in Senate security tomorrow who can accept these.”

On Wednesday, January 18, 2017, Johnson confirms that classified documents were sent to Senator Corker in addition to Senator Cardin. “Flagging that I sent you a high side request for clearance of the draft transmittal letter to send documents to Senators Corker and Cardin.”
Additionally, involved in providing classified information to members of the Senate was Naz Durakoglu, Senior Advisor to the Assistant Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs. In an email dated Thursday, January 19, 2017, with the subject line “Signed, sealed, delivered” Durakoglu apparently confirms that Obama State Department officials were eager to provide the classified material before Trump was sworn into office: “We made the deadline!” Durakoglu states [Emphasis added] “Thank you everyone for what was truly a Department-wide effort!”

President Trump was inaugurated less than 24 hours later.

In a Wednesday, January 18, 2017 email, Naz Durakoglu signed off on the document transmittal letter on behalf of her bureau. This letter accompanied “the documents to Senator Corker and Cardin”
In a Thursday, January 19, 2017 email, Durakoglu appears to confirm that she is who carried the documents from the State Department to Capitol Hill. She states, “I will be carrying over the cables to the Hill.”
“These documents show remarkable evidence of the non-stop, unethical effort in the Obama State Department to gather and send its own dossier of classified information on Russia in an effort to discredit the incoming Trump administration,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton.

According to a March 2017 report in the Baltimore Sun:“Maryland Sen. Ben Cardin received classified information about Russia’s involvement in elections when the Obama administration was attempting to disseminate that material widely across the government in order to aid in future investigations, according to a report Wednesday … Obama officials were concerned, according to the report [in The New York Times], that the Trump administration would cover up intelligence once power changed hands.”

Judicial Watch has confirmed through previously obtained State Department documents that the Obama State Department did, in fact, provide classified documents to Senator Cardin. The documents also show Russian political interference in elections and politics in countries across Europe. In a section of the documents provided to Cardin titled “Political Parties” and marked as sensitive, Russia reportedly sought to foster relationships with groups in Germany, Austria, and France, to include paying members to travel to conferences in Crimea and Donbas “where they stoutly defend Russian policy.”

The following section titled “Pro-Kremlin NGOs and Think Tanks,” also marked as sensitive, discusses the Russian government funded Caucasus Research Network, which helped to spread anti-EU and NATO reports throughout the region. Also discussed is the Human Rights Accountability Global Initiative, which was founded by Natalia Veselnitskaya. The Initiative was reportedly “working to erode support for the Magnitsky Act (which imposes sanctions on … gross human rights violations). The organization screened an anti-Magnitsky film at Washington’s Newseum in June.”

The Magnitsky Act attracted public attention earlier this year when it was reported Veselnitskaya obtained a meeting with Donald Trump Jr. with the purpose of seeking to undermine the act. It was reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin wanted to repeal the act at least in part because it targeted top Russian officials who had committed human rights violations and were the beneficiaries of a $230-million tax fraud that Magnitsky exposed.

One of the last remaining members of the Obama-era FBI has announced his retirement.

Bill Priestap, who is the Assistant Director of Counterintelligence for the FBI, will retire before the end of the year.

Finally Leaving
President Trump has been at odds with much of the FBI top leadership from virtually his first day in office.

His displeasure with former FBI director James Comey was very public and created more than a few waves for the president.

There was already tension between the two but after Comey started leaking information to the press, things really got out of control.

Trump, along with many of his supporters, believe the upper-level management of the FBI was chasing a political agenda rather than seeking out justice.

The handling of the Hillary Clinton email probe is proof positive the agency was operating with political prejudice.

Now that Priestap is leaving, maybe the FBI can get back to being one of the greatest law enforcement agencies in the world.

Adios, Priestap
Priestap was involved in the Hillary Clinton email investigation, along with the initial Trump-Russia investigation.

In fact, he was the last key official remaining at the FBI who had been involved in both investigations.

Reportedly, his decision had nothing to do with the questions surrounding those investigations. Still, it is no real surprise Priestap elected to retire as soon as he was eligible.

An FBI spokesperson stated, “Assistant Director Bill Priestap became eligible to retire and has chosen to do so after 20 years of service.”

Former President Barack Obama said on Tuesday that he was “very confident” he would have won a third term had the Constitution and his wife allowed him to run again.
Speaking to his former top adviser David Axelrod at a live recording of the “The Axe Files” podcast at the University of Chicago, Obama said he believes voters felt that he had “taken the job seriously, worked hard, been true to my oath, observed and hopefully strengthened the norms and the rules and the values of our democracy.”

“I feel very confident that I was in a position—had it not been for both the Constitution and Michelle—to continue in office,” Obama said.

Axelrod had earlier said that some people would like Obama to serve in perpetuity and joked about some of Obama’s supporters even wanting him to run for vice president.

The former president, though, added that he is “not sure it is a healthy thing” to serve more than two terms, pointing out that in countries without term limits, “even very good people… lose their edge and get stale and comfortable in the position.”

Obama said it is “useful to have a democracy have to continually evolve.”

Had Obama been allowed to run for a third term, he would have faced off against Donald Trump in 2016. But when Axelrod asked whether Obama believed he could defeat President Trump in 2020 in a hypothetical one-on-one matchup, Obama did not take the bait.

“I will not answer that direct question for obvious reasons,” Obama said.

After CNN chief White House correspondent Jim Acosta lost his press pass to the White House after he put his hands on an intern and refused to give up the microphone at a press conference, CNN went after the Trump administration with both barrels.

The network, supporting Acosta, has filed a lawsuit naming not only the president, but also some of his top aides, including Sarah Huckabee Sanders.

The Denial
CNN has argued that the White House’s decision to revoke Acosta’s press pass is a violation of the reporter’s First Amendment rights — but that is hardly the case.

He disrespected the president.

He disrespected an intern, as well.

These are the reasons he lost his press credentials.

Not Unprecedented
But if you heard the story from liberals, you’d think what Trump did prior to Acosta’s outburst was an outrage.

How dare the president talk to a reporter in such a manner?

But he wasn’t the only one to do such a thing.

Let’s take a quick trip back in history to when the “fearless leader” Barack Obama did something very similar.

Jim Acosta’s hard pass has been suspended by the White House, and the charges that President Donald Trump is at war with the media have again become common. Those in the media may wan to remind themselves who exactly started that war.
In an earlier article comparing and contrasting Trump and Barack Obama’s treatment of Russia, I argued that while Trump has been kind in terms of rhetoric, he’s been far tougher on Russia than Obama. Trump approved the sale of weapons to Ukraine to protect against Russia (which Obama refused to do), condemned Russia’s annexation of Crimea (which Obama didn’t do), imposed sanctions on Russia, and many other actions unfavorably towards the Hermit Kingdom. The case of Trump and the media is almost the exact opposite. While Trump’s rhetoric towards the media has been almost exclusively hostile, Trump hasn’t interfered with journalists work one iota in comparison to Obama.

The month before Trump took office, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist James Risen wrote in the New York Times that “If Donald J. Trump decides as president to throw a whistle-blower in jail for trying to talk to a reporter, or gets the F.B.I. to spy on a journalist, he will have one man to thank for bequeathing him such expansive power: Barack Obama.”
Risen would know – as he fought efforts from the Department of Justice under both Obama and George W. Bush to compel him to identify sources from a 2006 book of his.
“The Most Transparent Administration in History”
The self-described “most transparent” administration in history was objectively the least transparent.
According to a report published during Obama’s last year in office, the administration set a record for rejections of Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests. The Obama administration either censored materials or rejected requests outright for access in a record 596,095 cases (77% of the time). In just his last year in office alone, the Obama administration spent $36.2 million in legal fees fighting FOIA related lawsuits.

I’ve seen attempts to argue that the “77% rejection” figure is inaccurate, but only if you count censored documents as having been fulfilled FOIA requests. Perhaps under Common Core math that makes sense.
Prosecuting Journalists
Obama prosecuted more journalists under the Espionage Act than all other Presidents combined. While many certainly deserved it (such as Chelsea Manning), are we to believe there were more acts of espionage from 2009-2016 than the rest of American history?

In total, 13 people have been prosecuted under the Espionage Act for sharing classified information with journalists since 1945. Of those 13, eight were arrested while Obama was president. Only one person has been prosecuted under the Espionage Act under Trump’s presidency (a woman bizarrely named “Reality Winner’), which is entirely justified for the same reasons that Manning’s charges were justified.

As one writer put it, “Trump rages about leakers. Obama quietly prosecuted them.”
Obama Would’ve Expelled Fox News if He Could’ve
Trump wants a single person from CNN gone – Jim Acosta. Obama wanted all of Fox News gone. Just months ago in September he said with a straight face that “It shouldn’t be Democratic or Republican to say that we don’t threaten the freedom of the press because they say things or publish stories we don’t like. I complained plenty about Fox News, but you never heard me threaten to shut them down or call them enemies of the people.”

Obama may have not branded Fox News “enemies of the people,” but he certainly treated them as if they were.

In 2009 Obama’s White House intentionally excluded Chris Wallace from a round of interviews related to Obama’s push for healthcare reform.
Later in the year the administration attempted to block Fox reporters from interviewing “pay czar” Kenneth Feinberg, and then lied about it. An internal White House email dated October 22nd 2009 proves that the White House director of broadcast media told Treasury officials “We’d prefer if you skip Fox please.”

Obama’s communications director Anita Dunn publicly echoed the same sentiments at the time. “We’re going to treat them [Fox News] the way we would treat an opponent. As they are undertaking a war against Barack Obama and the White House, we don’t need to pretend that this is the way that legitimate news organizations behave.”

In 2012 Fox was excluded from a White House conference call related to the then-recent attacks in Benghazi, killing four Americans. Fox was also excluded from the CIA’s briefing about the attack.

And to again reference the Espionage Act, in 2012 Fox News’ James Rosen was labeled a “criminal co-conspirator” under the Espionage Act because he used a State Department contractor as a source for a story. At least five of Rosen’s phone lines were seized, and the FBI obtained a warrant to search his emails. The phone records of Rosen’s parents were also seized.

Barack Obama is out on the campaign trail and he is wasting no time in attacking President Donald Trump and his administration.
Friday, while making an appearance at a campaign event in Milwaukee, Obama took a jab at Trump, stating, “Nobody in my administration got indicted.”

Obama was hitting Trump hard.

The former president called out Trump for not kicking the corruption out of Washington.

At one point, he hinted there is so much corruption in the Trump administration they could “field a football team.”

He also stated the email investigation was really of no importance to them and was nothing more than grandstanding.

Obama even referenced a denied report by the president about his personal cell phone.

Really Now…
Obama’s comments made for a couple of laughs, but the fact is there is only one reason why nobody in his administration was ever indicted.

As we know now, the administration was manipulating the Justice Department to suit its own purposes.

Obama did everything in his power to protect Hillary, someone that should have been indicted several times.

Between Benghazi and the email fiasco, Hillary should have spent her golden years in a federal prison wearing an orange jumpsuit.

There were several other members of his administration that have also come under considerable scrutiny, but nothing ever happened to them.

When it comes to questioning whether or not we need the Iran Deal, we didn’t need new evidence saying it got sold on Iranian lies. We didn’t need more proof that the status quo before the deal was better than a lousy deal. And we didn’t need Israel to smuggle hard evidence out of Iran to know the full scope of Iran’s lies.

But we’ve been supplied more evidence, from Israeli spies operating in Iran. And that evidence underscores the lies and state-sponsored manipulation used to force the deal on the United States.

Detractors say that Israeli President Benjamin Netanyahu gave us nothing new in his speech, which outlined the Iranian information dump his intelligence gifted the United States. But that’s flatly untrue.

Iranians are fond of claiming that they’ve never been interested in pursuing nuclear warheads. On April 22, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said to CBS News that “Iran was never racing towards a bomb and it will not be racing towards a bomb.”

But earlier in the interview, when asked what Iran would do if President Donald Trump left the JCPA, Zarif gave a different answer:

[W]e have put a number of options for ourselves and those options are ready, including options that would involve resuming at a much greater speed our nuclear activities.

We already know the bomb line was utterly false because the evidence of Iran rushing to gain nuclear weapons goes back decades. Part of the treasure trove of information from Israel is the depth of knowledge Iran has on nuclear weapons.

And even though they paused a push towards nuclear armament, spooked by the Iraq war in 2003, they retained all the information they had on nuclear arms.

The fact that they preserved information for a nuclear program is critical. If Iran were truly peaceful, they wouldn’t maintain storehouses of information on how to ramp up weapons production. As Eli Lake astutely observes:

If verified, the intelligence also reveals Iran’s intention to eventually build a nuclear weapon. “The most significant thing is that this is a warehoused collection intended to be used later for reconstitution,” Albright said. “They could have destroyed these documents. But these were being carefully protected and hidden with the intention to reuse them when they launch their weapons program.”

When you combine Iranian intentions with their push towards testing ballistic missiles and sneaking around inspections, you get the failure that is the Iran Deal. And it makes Iran’s threat that they could ramp up faster ominous.

It’s fair to ask why Israel and Benjamin Netanyahu are revealing the information now to the United States. The primary reason is straightforward, the latest six-month recertification of the Iran Deal, also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPA), is back before President Trump.

The new evidence provides ammunition to the Trump administration to, at a minimum, tighten the screws on Iran, or scrap the JCPA altogether.

The evidence also comes to light at a time when Israel and Iran are engaging in an increasingly hostile proxy war in Syria. Iran has moved troops, terrorists, and military equipment into Syria to support Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad and provide a launch point for Hezbollah. Israel, in turn, has launched air strikes to counter buildup in Syria that threatens their borders.

The lone silver lining from the Iran deal was that it theoretically slowed down the Iranians from building and using nuclear weapons by a decade. That extra time gave Israel time to prepare for a region with a nuclear Iran.

But when you combine growing war between the two, mounting evidence that Iran ignores the JCPA, and the new threats from Iran that they’re capable of speeding up nuclear activities they claim they don’t have, you understand Israeli anxiety over the looming threat.

Obama’s Professional Liars
While Trump and Netanyahu weigh the consequences of various military options, former Obama administration officials are trying to derail everything by restarting their famed Iran “echo chamber.”

Here’s a pro-tip on all Iran coverage: If a former Obama administration official claims that Trump or conservatives only want war with Iran, you know you’re dealing with a professional liar.

The head of all the professional liars surrounding the Iran Deal is the failed novelist Ben Rhodes, who bragged to the New York Times about how he duped experts and journalists into repeating propaganda to sell the deal.

He lavished praise on himself for building a so-called “echo chamber” that drowned out any and all criticism of Obama or the JCPA. Rhodes and his administration cronies repeated this exercise when Politico correctly reported that the Obama administration prevented the FBI and CIA from attacking Iran’s state-sponsored terrorist group Hezbollah.

And now Rhodes and his cronies are back, claiming that Trump and the Israelis faked the intelligence trove to make Iran look bad.

This stupidity got cooked up by Tommy Vietor, a former spokesperson for Obama’s national security council. As Armin Rosen deftly points out at TabletMag, this is breathtaking anti-Semitism from people who spend their days accusing Trump and his supporters of being Nazis.

If you support the JCPA because you think the world is a safer place for it, that’s fine. There are unquestionably people in the Trump administration who believe this fact.

But what we’re witnessing from Vietor, Rhodes, and other Obama acolytes is a smear campaign. Their desperation to protect anything from the Obama-era — even when a mountain of new evidence gets gift-wrapped to the United States — overrides any sense of duty to country or ally.

We cannot afford a world where Iran becomes North Korea in the Middle East. The US can’t afford it. Israel can’t afford it. The world can’t afford it.

Iran lied before, during, and after the JCPA. Obama’s staffers are now lying about the new Israeli evidence.

Why would we ever believe either of them?

Joe Biden wants to be forgiven.

The former vice president asked for divine grace on Saturday night for not attacking President Donald Trump sooner.

“Barack [Obama] and I agreed we would be quiet for the first year to let the new administration get up and running,” Biden told an audience of 3,000 at an annual dinner in Washington for the Human Rights Campaign, one of the country’s biggest LGBTQ advocacy groups. “God forgive me.”

Biden: “Forgive me” for not attacking Trump
Biden, who is rumored to be preparing for a presidential run in 2020, made the sign of the cross over his chest as he asked for reconciliation for not criticizing Trump sooner. He went on to apologize for not supporting gay marriage earlier.

“It was late,” Biden said. “It was very late.”

Biden said that Trump’s response to the deadly riots in Charlottesville, VA last summer, where white nationalists clashed with counter-protesters, compelled him to speak up. Trump was criticized at the time for saying both sides were at fault.

“We are in a fight for America’s soul and we have leaders who at the time, when that occurred, making a comparison and said there were good people in both groups,” Biden said. “What has become of us? Our silence is complicity.”

“Dregs of society”
Biden went on to call out Trump and his supporters in an anti-Trump broadside, in which the former vice president called Trump a “bully” who is using his platform to empower forces of “intolerance.”

“The president uses the White House as a literal, literal bully pulpit, callously exerting his power over those who have little or none,” Biden said.

He also insinuated that Trump supporters are “the dregs of society.”

“Despite losing in the courts, and in the court of opinion, these forces of intolerance remain determined to undermine and roll back the progress you all have made,” he said. “This time they — not you — have an ally in the White House. This time they have an ally. They’re a small percentage of the American people — virulent people, some of them the dregs of society.”

2020 run?
Biden, who has been stumping for the Democrats ahead of November’s midterms, appeared to be prepping a presidential run with his anti-Trump remarks at the Saturday dinner. Biden’s wife, Jill, also took shots at Trump while introducing her husband, saying that they want to “pick a fight” with bullies — another hint at a presidential run.

“There is nothing that makes either of us more angry than a bully,” she said. “There’s nothing that’s more unfair or unjust than people using their power to try to make other people feel small, to tell them who they are or what they are capable of, to say their identity doesn’t belong.”

Biden has said that he’ll decide whether to run by January 2019. Some polls show Biden leading Trump in a hypothetical match-up, but Trump has said he “dreams” about running against Biden, who the president says he would crush easily.

I’ve always been stunned that Donald Trump is the first president the media’s called a narcissist. Without opining on whether or not our 45th head of state is obsessed with himself, I can say with absolute certainty that our 44th president definitely was.

Barack Obama loves him some Barack Obama. We saw this numerous times during his presidency, including most odiously at a memorial service for five slain Dallas police officers which the president turned into an advertisement for himself.

The former president is back on the campaign trail, and he’s not missing any opportunities to talk about his favorite subject.

Take a speech in Cleveland, where the president mentioned himself repeatedly. He also had an odd habit of stuttering — something the American Mirror noticed when they put together a video of the president’s remarks.

Obama was in Ohio in support of Richard Cordray, the Democrats’ candidate for governor there, as well as lieutenant governor candidate Betty Sutton.

“Let, let, let, let, let me just say these, these are friends of mine,” Obama told the audience of Cordray and Sutton. “I admit I am biased.”

Well, okay, fair enough. Everyone is entitled to mention themselves once or twice during a speech, particularly if they’ve been president.

However, he kept on saying that they were both a “friend of mine” and that “I have worked with them.”

Of Cordray, he noted that the candidate “had my back even when some of you couldn’t pronounce my name.”

Yep, we’re still going with that quip in 2018. I understand that Obama’s a dad, but that doesn’t give him a pass on constantly making culturally loaded dad jokes.

Hecklers, too, were about him: “I always miss having at least one heckler up in here,” he said. “I can never really hear what they’re saying, but I appreciate the exercise of free speech.”

And in the “truer words were never spoken” category: “I know that sometimes, when I was president, even when I was a candidate, folks would say, ‘Barack, you’re talking too long.’

‘You’re like too professorial, you’re explaining stuff too much,’” he said. I think that was the excuse they may have given him, but that probably wasn’t the reason that he was being called out for talking too long.

The real answer probably has to do with how often Obama likes to pontificate on himself. As the American Mirror pointed out about the stuttering Cleveland address, “Obama talked about himself 79 times during the roughly 40 minute speech, saying ‘I’ 66 times, ‘Me’ 5 times, ‘My’ 5 times, and ‘Mine’ 3 times.”

That sounds about right. During his big speech at the University of Illinois, he mentioned himself over 100 times during the 64-minute address. At least that time, he was accepting an award dedicated to him. This time he was actually campaigning for other candidates. When you’re doing that, it helps if the focus is on them. It also helps if you don’t stammer through it.
