SIGNS AND WONDERS
 
How great is our God! He is omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent, above all, in all and through all. Yet, He chooses to interact with fallen humanity. Why? Because He loves us. How? Through His word, and through wondrous signs and wonders. “...God bearing witness both with signs and wonders, with various miracles and gifts of the Holy Spirit according to His will.” (Hebrews 2:4) I have been blessed to see some of these signs as God has shown how much He loves me.
 
At the end of a nerve-wracking drive through a deluge of rain, I looked up and there in the sky was an elongated, vertical cloud, a shape I had never seen before. Immediately I thought -- God has sent a guardian angel to watch over us and give us safe travels. Another sign in the heavens was on a rainy day following cancer surgery. As I sat looking out our front window, there was a perfect heart shaped cloud -- God's silent word of love.
 
In Joel we read the words: “I will show wonders in heaven above and signs in the earth beneath” (Joel 2:30) Concerned about finances, I was in prayer one day when I heard a bird singing outside our bedroom window. There in our lilac bush sat a small sparrow chirping merrily, its song of praise to the Lord. I was immediately reminded of the scripture that says God, Who takes care of the little birds, will definitely take care of us and provide our every need.
 
The Holy Spirit, Who lives in us, is constantly on the alert to bring to mind pertinent passages of God's word and meaningful visual signs to minister to us on every occasion. When we are fearful, He tells us, “God is not the author of fear but of power, of love and a sound mind.” When we are under attack from the enemy, He says, “Resist the devil. Draw nigh to God and He will draw nigh to you.” When we are struggling with relationships, He says “Love others as you love yourself.” Jesus tells
us to watch and to listen. God's signs are all around us.
 
Putting our trust in God, relying on Him to be our help in any situation, being in tune with the Holy Spirit and keeping our eyes and ears open for His signs and wonders are important things to remember when navigating our way through life's maize. God is with us from beginning to end. Praise God for His unfailing love and faithfulness.
