The silent film which predicted the rise of antisemitism
CATEGORY: JEWISH PEOPLE
The Jewish People are an ancient people.

A Nation with a Homeland, language, and unique customs.

But, the Jewish people did not come into existence like any other.

Nor do they exist like any other people.

A Chosen Nation
God chose to build them up from Abraham and Sarah, then Issac and Rebecca, and then from Jacob and his four wives.

From their family, he built up a nation – in Egypt.

There, in Egypt, God formed a nation and delivered them from servitude and bondage through miracle after miracle.

He took the Jewish people to the Promised Land through the desert.

In the desert, God declared the Jewish people as His Chosen People and met with the entire Jewish Nation – young and old – on Mt. Sinai.

On that mountain, God “married” his young nation and gave them the Bible and the Covenant.

In the ensuing years, God led His people to the Promised Land – and the rest is history…

The inspiration that exists today to God’s Chosen Nation stems from the ancient beginnings of Jewish History in Egypt, the Wilderness and Mt. Sinai.

Anti-Semitism
1920S SILENT FILM PREDICTED THE RISE OF ANTISEMITISM
written by Leah Rosenberg
You can’t argue the fact that there has been a rise in antisemitism even today still. And this film predicted it before WWII.
Predicting the Rise of Antisemitism
This silent film was based off of a novel by Jewish-Austrian writer Hugo Bettauer. He wanted to combat what was happening in Vienna post World War I – the growing intolerance towards Jews. The novel and subsequent adaptation of it into a film was warning of the dangers of intolerance and hatred. The film was released in 1924. And what happened? Just one year later, Hugo Bettauer was murdered – by none other than a Nazi. Bettauer tried warning about the rise of antisemitism. Not enough people listened.
What is so terrifying is how relevant this video still is today. The world has not learned the lesson. The hatred has not stopped. Even after the murder of 6 million innocent Jewish men, women, and children, there are still those in the world who hate with a deep passion. There are still those in the world who side with Hitler and want to murder more Jews.

It has been almost 100 years since the release of this film. Where is the world holding today regarding its hatred of Jews? Sadly, it is still on the rise. Antisemitism has not disappeared and is continuing to grow.

It is eerie that a film from so long ago predicted so much of what has happened and what is continuing to happen. How many people took the film seriously back then? And what about now?

10 Anti-Semitic Myths
By Yosef Eisen

https://www.chabad.org/library/article_cdo/aid/2617031/jewish/10-Anti-Semitic-Myths.htm/fbclid/IwAR3EPW0DHtNLWCAVamk4wXrfwkES5NY-UKuLpPlm_ZrqHHO8HX8Y12m_XT8#utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=fb_en

Popular Anti-Jewish Beliefs
In the Middle Ages, many delusional beliefs about Jews gripped the European masses, some of which were later modernized by the Nazis. There were at least 10 such superstitions, traces of which can still be found today.

The Blood Libel and Ritual Murder
In 1144, in Norwich, England, a 12-year-old child named William disappeared in Thorpe's Wood, a forest near the town, and was found dead. A Jewish convert to Christianity, a monk named Theobald, testified that the Jews tortured the child, stabbed him, and nailed him to a cross, reenacting Yeshu's death. Since this event took place around Pesach, and the Christian days of Good Friday and Easter, rumors spread that the Jews needed to sacrifice a Christian child on Pesach. William quickly became St. William, the first of many Christian child martyrs, and his tomb became a popular site for religious pilgrimages. As Christianity became more fixated on the power of Yeshu's blood, considering it even as the Korban Pesach, Jews were accused of slaughtering Christian children in order to obtain their blood for matzah and red wine of the seder. Pesach then became a dread time for Jews in Europe, for fanatic priests would whip up the masses into frenzied mobs.

Unlike the accusation of usury, which had a semblance of truth, the blood libel was completely false. Jewish law, as is well known, prohibits the consumption of even the smallest amount of blood, and not even one blood libel was proven to be true. Frequently, Christians killed one of their own children and tried to plant the body in a Jewish house. Although the popes repeatedly stated that this accusation was false, it remained entrenched in the mind of the general Christian public for centuries.

The ritual murder charge even appears in classic English literature. The great medieval English writer, Geoffrey Chaucer, relates such a story in his Canterbury Tales. The Prioress' Tale tells of a little Christian child who happily sang Christian hymns as he walked. Chaucer describes what happened when the child walked through the Jewish quarter of town:

The serpent, our first foe, who has his nest
Of hornets in Jews' hearts, puffed up and said,
"O Hebrew people, is it for the best
That a mere boy, just as he likes, should tread
Your street, and bring contempt upon your head,
And sing to such a purpose, for a cause
That is against the reverence of your laws?"

From this time on the cursed Jews conspired
This innocent boy out of the world to chase.
A murderer for their purposes they hired
Who in an alley had a secret place,
And as he went by at his childish pace,
This Jew seized on him, and held him fast, and slit
His neck, and threw his body in a pit.

Into a privy they threw the boy, I say,
A place in which these Jews purged their entrails.
O cursed people, unchanged since Herod's day,
What think you that your foul design avails?
Murder will out, for certain; it never fails,
The more so when the honor of G‑d's name
May spread! The blood cries on your deed of shame!

The distraught mother, after much searching, found the child in the pit. Miraculously, the child, even with his throat slit, began to sing hymns. The amazed Christians called for the magistrate:

The magistrate at once put every Jew
To death with torment and with shamefulness.
He spared not one that of this murder knew.
He would not palter with such wickedness.
"He that deserves ill, he shall have no less,"
And so he ordered that wild horses draw
Their flesh, and then he hanged them by the law.

The child instructed the monks how to cause him to stop singing. After the child died again, he was buried as a holy martyr in a special tomb. Referring to another such child, Chaucer concluded his story:

Young Hugh of Lincoln, you who were also
Slain by accursed Jews, notoriously,
For it was a little while ago
Pray for us; in our fitful errancy...

From Norwich, the blood libel rapidly spread all over Europe. In 1171, after the Jews of Blois, France, were executed on account of such an accusation, Rabbeinu Tam declared the 20th of Sivan as a fast day. In all, more than 150 accusations of ritual murder are recorded, many leading either to massacre or expulsion of the Jews. From the 1200s to the 1400s, most of these cases occurred in Germany. Later, the blood libel moved to Poland and Russia. In 1840, a famous blood libel took place in Damascus, Syria, and in 1913, the notorious Beilis blood libel trial was conducted in Russia. The Nazis made it a cornerstone of their anti-Jewish propaganda. In 1946, the Kielce blood libel broke out in Poland, killing numerous Jews, including Chaim Hirschman, one of two survivors of the Belzec death camp, which itself took 600,000 victims. Sadly, the blood libel is still believed in many parts of the world, even in the United States. Tourists still visit the Child-Devouring Fountain in Berne, Switzerland (Kinderfresserbrunnen), dedicated to a young boy who vanished from the city in 1294, prompting a pogrom that killed all Berne's Jews. In the words of the Catholic historian Edward Flannery, "The ritual murder calumny stands in the judgment of history as the most monstrous instrument of anti-Jewish persecution in the Middle Ages."

Desecration of the Host
In 1215, the Church announced the dogma of transubstantiation, meaning that the consecrated wafers (host) and sacramental wine consumed by Christians represented the body and blood of Yeshu. Soon Jews were accused of stealing wafers from churches and torturing them by sticking pins in them, thus crucifying Yeshu again. According to some reports, blood gushed from such wafers as they moaned in agony. Other accounts had the hosts flutter in the air, producing butterflies, angels, and doves. The entire matter would be laughable, except that more than 100 such accusations were made, resulting in the massacre of countless Jews. In 1298, a notorious Jew-hater named Rindfleisch spread the calumny throughout Germany and Austria. Within a short period of time, 150 Jewish communities were destroyed, causing the deaths of more than 100,000 Jews.

Jews as Devils
The association of the Jews with the devil can be detected in the Christian Bible, which describes the devil as the father of the Jews. In the Middle Ages, when superstition was rampant, the devil was a terrifying reality to the masses of Christians. Jews were portrayed in woodcuts as pigs (Judensau), depicted as swarthy and hook-nosed, and presumed to have a tail and horns. Jews were seen as sorcerers and magicians, expert in the black arts of the occult. The Nazi newspaper Der Sturmer reproduced a number of such woodcuts, reinforcing this belief in modern times. Many eyewitnesses report that Germans regularly asked : "Are you Jews? You are human beings who work! Where are your horns?"

The Jewish Smell
Since the Jews were associated so closely with the devil, they were believed to share his characteristics, notably his smell of sulfur. If Jews did not smell of it, Christians claimed they used Christians’ blood to rid themselves of it. Indeed, the belief about a unique Jewish odor was so powerful that it not only persisted throughout the ages, but also became the object of study by Nazi scientists.

The Wandering Jew
The Christian Bible relates that Yeshu cursed a Jew to endless wandering who had mocked him. The mythical Wandering Jew became known by the name of Ahasverus (sic), and reports of his sighting spread throughout Europe for hundreds of years. In 1602 a German Lutheran minister published Brief Description and Tale of a Jew Named Ahasverus, and the book became so popular that it went through 50 editions in just a few years. This myth, too, has persisted throughout the ages. The Wandering Jew was reported in Upper New York State in 1898. In 1940, a man believing himself to be the Wandering Jew visited the New York Public Library and had his borrower’s card printed as T. W. Jew.

Polluted Jewish Blood
Christians in the Middle Ages believed that the Jews were sickly and weak people, possessing blood diseases that could only be cured by an infusion of Christian blood. Thus, the Jews were always looking for opportunities to intermarry with pure Christians and pollute their lineage. This canard became the most powerful of all Nazi beliefs about the Jews, and it was employed as a justification for annihilating the entire Jewish people.

Well Poisoning
In the mid-1300s, the Black Death swept throughout Europe, decimating perhaps 50% of the population. Jews, too, were greatly affected, although not to the same degree as the Christians, due to traditional Jewish emphasis on personal cleanliness and burial of their dead. Soon a rumor spread that Jews brought about the plague by poisoning wells. Although Pope Clement issued a papal bull contradicting the allegation, and numerous rulers stated likewise, the superstitious Christian masses believed that the plague was the work of the devil through his children, the Jews.

The populace also believed that the Black Death was Divine punishment for their sins. Christian penitents, known as flagellants, went from town to town, whipping themselves with iron rods until the flagellants bled, all to expiate their sins and those of the people. After performing in city squares to the awed attention of the populace, they then led the people against the real villains, the Jewish well poisoners. In countless communities, especially in Germany, nearly all the Jews lost their lives.

Jewish World Conspiracy
This belief, which is still quite prevalent today, originated in the Middle Ages. It was claimed that a council of rabbis from Spain met secretly every year to cast lots regarding which city should supply the Christian victim for the annual sacrifice required by the Jewish religion. Later, this myth changed the Jewish goal from human sacrifice to world financial domination, as found in the 19th-century publication of the notorious Protocols of the Elders of Zion. Currently, this lie is being spread by Arab regimes into countries that have had little or no previous encounters with Jews.

Jewish Stubbornness
Naturally, the Jews were seen as a stubborn people for absolutely refusing to convert and accept Yeshu as the Messiah. Such a refusal was particularly infuriating to the Christians, who believed that the Second Coming of Yeshu was contingent upon the Jews accepting Christianity. Thus, as the Jews were seen as blocking the Final Redemption, special effort has been expended through the ages to enable them to see the so-called light of Christianity, either by the Jews’ own volition or by force.

Jewish Laziness
This accusation held that Jews did not engage in productive occupations, preferring instead to live off honest Christian labor by engaging in money lending and shady transactions. (For their part, Christians were invariably seen as productive farmers and craftsmen.) What was conveniently forgotten was that Jews were not permitted any form of manual labor. Of course, the myth that Jews become rich at the expense of hard-working, poor Christians has persisted to today, and is strongly held by many people.

Expulsions
During the Middle Ages, the Jews were expelled at one time or another from virtually every country in Europe. Many times, they were driven out of a city and had to seek sanctuary in another town. Usually, these expulsions, even from entire countries, were not permanent, and the Jews were able to return after several years — sometimes even sooner than that. However, when the Jews were expelled from England in 1290, they were not permitted to return until the late 1600s. (It is interesting to note that William Shakespeare, who caricatured Jews as rapacious in The Merchant of Venice, may have never seen a Jew.) Of course, the most famous of all expulsions is known as The Expulsion — the forced departure of the Spanish Jews in 1492.

OPINION – Lord Sacks: Understanding American antisemitism — and fighting back
Former Chief Rabbi reflects on a spate of antisemitic incidents in the United States - and how the tide of hate can be turned
By RABBI LORD SACKS (JTA)

The last two festivals to be added to the Jewish calendar prior to modern times — Purim and Chanukah — are both about antisemitism. There is one obvious difference between them: Haman, of the Purim story, wanted to kill Jews. Antiochus, of the Chanukah story, wanted to kill Judaism. It was the difference between Nazi Germany and Soviet Communism.

But there is another difference that has renewed salience after the horrifying knife attack in Monsey, N.Y. What saved Jews on Purim was behind-the-scenes influence: Esther’s influence in the royal court. But the danger of antisemitism remained. What if hatred returned and this time there was no Esther around to save the Jews? That is one reason, according to the Talmud, why we do not say Hallel on Purim.
On Chanukah, by contrast, Jews fought back and won. The Maccabees became a symbol of Jewish activism, of refusing to live in fear. As a symbol of this, the original custom was to light Chanukah lights outside the front door of the house, or at least in a window facing the street, to publicise the miracle. Today, we see the lighting of giant menorahs in the most prominent public face of cities throughout the world.

Chanukah tells us not to curse the darkness, but instead to bring light to the world. It tells us to fight back and not to be afraid.

The shocking events in Monsey, together with those in Jersey City, Poway, Pittsburgh and elsewhere, are proof that the darkness has returned. It has returned likewise to virtually every country in Europe. That this should have happened within living memory of the Holocaust, after the most systematic attempt ever made by a civilization to find a cure for the virus of the world’s longest hate — more than half a century of Holocaust education and anti-racist legislation — is almost unbelievable. It is particularly traumatic that this has happened in the United States, the country where Jews felt more at home than anywhere else in the Diaspora. Why is it happening now?

First, because of everything associated with the internet, smartphones, viral videos and above all, social media. These have what is called a “disinhibition effect.” People are far more hateful when communicating electronically than when speaking face-to-face.

Cyberspace has proved to be the most effective incubator of resentment, rancour and conspiracy theories ever invented. Antisemitism thrives on conspiracy theories, versions of the Blood Libel and the Protocols of the Elders of Zion, updated for the twenty-first century.

Second, because of the way people encounter these phenomena: often alone, in the privacy of their own home. This allows them to be radicalised without anyone realising it is happening. Time and again, we read of people carrying out horrific attacks, while those who knew them recall not having seen any warning signs that they were intent on committing evil attacks.

The most dangerous phenomenon of our time is the “lone wolf” attack, because it is so hard to predict. The internet is particularly dangerous for loners, people in whom the normal process of socialization — learning to live with others who are not like us — has broken down.

Historically though, the most important factor in the rise of antisemitism is the sense among a group that the world as it is now is not the way it used to be, or ought to be.

The far left has not recovered from the global collapse of communism and socialism as ideologies. Hence the assault on Jews as capitalists and libertarians.

The far right feels threatened by the changing composition of Western societies, because of immigration on an unprecedented scale and low birth rates among the native population. Hence white supremacists.

Many radical Islamists are troubled by dysfunctions in the Muslim world. Hence the emergence of anti-Zionism as the new antisemitism.

These concerns do not, in and of themselves, lead to antisemitism. One other factor must be added.

When bad things happen, good people ask, “What did I do wrong?” They put their house in order. But bad people ask, “Who did this to me?” They cast themselves as victims and search for scapegoats to blame.

The scapegoat of choice has long been the Jews. They were the archetypal outsiders. For a thousand years, they were the most prominent non-Christian minority in Europe. Today, the state of Israel is the most significant non-Muslim presence in the Middle East. It is easy to blame Jews because they are conspicuous, because they are a minority and because they are there.

Antisemitism has little to do with Jews — they are its object, not its cause — and everything to do with dysfunction in the communities that harbor it.

Antisemitism, or any hate, becomes dangerous in any society when three things happen: when it moves from the fringes of politics to a mainstream party and its leadership; when the party sees that its popularity with the general public is not harmed thereby; and when those who stand up and protest are vilified and abused for doing so.

All three factors exist in Britain now. The same must not be allowed to happen in America.

What, then, must we do? The first priority must be to strengthen security in Jewish venues, to intensify police patrols and to develop habits of vigilance. The British Jewish community has a fine example in its Community Security Trust which, with the support of government grants, monitors risks, enlists thousands of volunteers to stand security duty and works closely with the government and local police forces. “Lone wolves” tend to seek soft targets, and the Jewish community must ensure as far as possible that there are no soft targets.

Next, we must recognise that while we have enemies, we also have friends — and they are many and strong. In Britain, as we faced a leader of the opposition who many of us felt has made his party a safe haven for anti-Zionists and antisemites, it was enormously important that non-Jews from all walks of life came out in our support. It made us feel we were not alone.

Many surveys in the United States have shown that Jews are the most admired of all minorities. We cannot fight antisemitism alone. The victim cannot cure the crime. We need to make friends who will stand with us and help lead the fight. This is best done by explaining how antisemitism endangers everyone, because the hate that begins with Jews never ends with Jews.

Lastly, we must never forget the message of Chanukah: Fight back. Never be afraid. Whatever the threats, be proud to be Jewish and share this pride with others.

At times our history has been written in tears, yet we have outlived every empire and every civilization that sought to destroy us. Our spirit, symbolised by the Chanukah candles, is indomitable. Where others spread darkness, let us bring light.

Police patrols in Jewish areas were significantly increased this week after a spate of appalling incidents in north London and the United States.

In the capital, across Belsize Park and Hampstead, shops and a synagogue were vandalised with antisemitic graffiti, while 30 miles north of New York City a man burst into a rabbi’s house and stabbed five Orthodox Jews, two seriously.

The Chanukah incidents have shaken Jewish communities on both sides of the Atlantic, as security chiefs urged people to be vigilant.

The vandalism in London, which targeted South Hampstead Synagogue, referenced “9.11” which is assumed to mean the conspiracy theory of Jewish or Israeli involvement in the 9/11 attacks on the twin towers and Pentagon in 2001.

The Community Security Trust (CST) tweeted that the “disgusting antisemitic graffiti was clearly the work of someone determined to spread their hatred as widely as possible,” before urging authorities to fully investigate the matter.

Police Inspector Kevin Hailes said: “This is clearly a concerning incident and one we are taking seriously… Officers will be on patrol throughout the area in order to provide some reassurance to local communities.”

Meanwhile officials in the US said the multiple stabbings at a house in Monsey in New York State were an example of “domestic terrorism.” The motive of Grafton Thomas, 38, who was quickly apprehended in Harlem, was initially unknown.

Witnesses said the attacker pulled a knife “the size of a broomstick,” believed to have been a machete, as the country digested yet another violent attack against Jews, just a month after two gunmen killed several people at a kosher store in neighbouring New Jersey.

Police patrols in some areas of Brooklyn with large Jewish populations were increased last week, after 12 previous antisemitic incidents in recent weeks.

Governor Andrew Cuomo described the Monsey attack in the home of Rabbi Chaim Rottenberg, as “domestic terrorism,” adding that the growing intolerance in US society was “a cancer”.

Gunman opens fire in Texas church before being shot dead, surrounded by armed congregants

Texas Church Shooting
A gunman killed one before being shot dead and surrounded by armed church congregants in West Freeway Church of Christ in White Settlement, near Fort Worth, Texas.YouTube
A gunman has opened fire in a Texas church as a Sunday service was being livestreamed online, killing one and critically injuring another before an armed member of the congregation shot him dead.
The incident took place at the West Freeway Church of Christ in White Settlement, less than 10 miles west of Fort Worth.

Reports have confirmed that one male member of the congregation was killed, while another male victim who was also shot is in critical condition and receiving emergency treatment at a local hospital. A further two people were also treated for minor injuries at the scene of the shooting.

The shooting took place during the 10am Sunday Service at the Texas church, and horrified viewers of the livestream were able to witness the events unfold.

According to a church elder, the church member who was killed was a church security guard who had responded to the shooting. Church elder Mike Tinius said of the victim, "'He was trying to do what he needed to do to protect the rest of us. It's extremely upsetting to see anyone committing violence."

Tinius told a U.S. publication that he did not know the gunman, and authorities have not yet publicly identified any motive for the shooting.
One witness described that the shooter approached a server during the communion and then started shooting.

One church member described on Facebook that it was a church deacon "who is a concealed carry instruction, and retired law enforcement officer, shot the guy before he could fire a third time!"

According to CBS 11 the deacon has been identified as a former FBI agent, and is also part of the church's security team.

The livestream of the incident shows the gunman opening fire and church members quickly ducking under the pews. However, within seconds about half a dozen church members rush towards the shooter with handguns pointed at him.

Anti-Semites sprayed Stars of David and “911” throughout North London neighborhoods, referencing a bizarre conspiracy theory blaming Jews for the 2001 Islamic terror attacks in the U.S.

London residents woke up Sunday morning to red Stars of David painted on synagogues and Jewish establishments in the Hampstead and Belsize Park neighborhoods.

The graffiti included not only traditionally Jewish symbols, but also “911,” which is shorthand for an anti-Semitic conspiracy that blames Jews for perpetrating the September 11, 2001 terror attacks in the U.S., which were in reality the acts of Islamic extremists.

The U.K. is still reeling from an election campaign in which the Labour party was exposed for harboring virulent anti-Semites among its ranks. Party leader Jeremy Corbyn also faced personal accusations of anti-Semitism based on his positions on terrorists who seek the annihilation of the Jewish state.

Suspects arrested in last week’s spree of eight anti-Semitic attacks are being quickly released right back into the neighborhoods they terrorized thanks to “bail reform” legislation — which doesn’t even take effect until Jan. 1.

The most recent case of revolving-door justice came Saturday morning, with the release, with no bail, of a woman charged with punching and cursing at three Orthodox women, ages 22, 26 and 31, in Crown Heights, Brooklyn at dawn the day before.

The accused assailant, Tiffany Harris, was hauled in handcuffs before a Brooklyn judge on 21 menacing, harassment and attempted assault charges.

“F-U, Jews!” Harris, 30, of Flatbush, allegedly shouted during the attack.

“Yes, I was there,” Harris later admitted to cops, according to the criminal complaint against her.

“Yes, I slapped them. I cursed them out. I said ‘F-U, Jews.”

As she stood before a judge in Brooklyn Criminal Court with the hood to a navy blue jacket over her head, Harris was in familiar territory.

She still has an open harassment and assault case on the Brooklyn docket from November 2018.

And last month, she was sentenced to no jail time for felony criminal mischief in Manhattan, court records show — a case for which she had repeatedly failed to make court appearances.

Brooklyn prosecutors didn’t even bother requesting bail Saturday, as they could have, given that the reform law, approved in April, technically doesn’t take effect until Jan. 1.

“The de Blasio administration has made it clear that we all need to get into compliance with bail reform now,” said a law enforcement source.

“If prosecutors had asked for bail, corrections would release them immediately,” or they would be sprung on Jan. 1, the source said.

But the de Blasio administration responded that the DOC does nothing without a court order and can’t decide to release anyone.

Brooklyn Criminal Court Judge Laura Johnson even made mention of the coming bail reform legislation in ordering Harris freed.

“So I’m releasing her on consent and also because it will be required under the statute in just a few days,” the judge said.

“Ms. Harris you’re being released on your own recognizance.”

She was issued an order of protection barring contact with the three victims — and a court date of Jan. 10.

Harris broke into a grin when approached by a reporter. “Why do you want to know?” she said. ”Goodbye.”

The legislation requires arraignment judges to set free suspects in any non-sexual assault that doesn’t actually cause a physical injury, even in cases of hate crime attacks.

“If there is an injury, then bail could be requested, because then it would be considered a violent felony,” explained Insha Rahman, who, as director of strategy and new initiatives at the Vera Institute of Justice, worked closely with legislators and the governor’s office in drafting the controversial reforms.

The no-injury loophole will mean a quick get-out-of-jail-free card for all but one of the accused attackers in the eight Hanukkah-timed, anti-Semitic bias crimes that have terrified the city’s Orthodox communities.

“You have to beat the hell out of somebody — or murder them — for there to be any consequences,” said former state lawmaker Dov Hikind, founder of Americans Against Anti-Semitism. “Otherwise, you are set free.”

He continued: “It’s open season in New York — open season on innocent people. On Jews, on Muslims, on gay people. It applies to anybody. But it’s the Jewish people in particular who have been targeted.”

Only one of last week’s eight attacks resulted in an actual physical injury — that of a 65-year-old Jewish man who was punched and kicked on Monday morning at East 41st Street and Third Avenue in Manhattan.

“F–k you, Jew bastard!” the petrified victim told cops his assailant shouted.

The suspect in that crime, Steven Jorge, 28, is indeed alleged to have injured his victim, and so was ordered locked up with no bail pending a psychological examination.

Jorge, though, is the exception.

On Friday night, a suspect in another of the hate attacks was similarly sprung with no bail, though in her case she was at least ordered to attend twice-monthly mental health appointments.

“You f—king Jew, the end is coming for you!” that suspect, Ayana Logan, 43, allegedly shouted as she swung a handbag at a 34-year-old Orthodox mom in Gravesend.

The mother had been holding the hand of her 3-year-old son when the unprovoked attack happened, according to the criminal court complaint against Logan.

By Saturday night, Logan, Harris, and Jorge remained the only suspects apprehended in the hate spree. The assailants in the remaining five attacks remain at large.

Rahman and other reformers argue that the vast majority of suspects in minor assaults are quickly released anyway — and that the new bail reform lets judges set conditions for release that can address the underlying mental health issues.

“That can be mental health counseling, a stay-away order, which wasn’t readily available before, as conditions for release,” said Rahman.

Suspects are getting none of that during their pretrial stays in city jails, Rahman noted.

“Money bail, and keeping someone temporarily detained with no care, doesn’t address at all the long term concerns” of community safety and the well-being of suspects, she said.

But in the city’s Orthodox neighborhoods, there was outrage in learning that even when violent bigots are caught, they’ll be immediately released.

“They were released on no bail?” a 32-year-old Orthodox man asked a Post reporter near where the three women were attacked. “Disgusting.”

Steve Benjamin, 30, of Borough Park, said, “We’re scared to walk at night in the street.

“There is a lot of hate here and I don’t know why. People in the community are scared. It’s very dangerous. It’s just like remembering the days before World War II. I don’t let my kids out alone.

“It should be more justice — they arrest them, but they let them out of jail a day later.”

The Anti-Defamation League has added the “OK” hand gesture, a mass killer’s bowl-style haircut and an anthropomorphic moon wearing sunglasses to its online “Hate on Display” database.

The symbols are among 36 new entries in the Jewish civil rights group’s online database of overt symbols of racism and anti-Semitism used by extremists.

The New York City-based group launched the database in 2000 to help law enforcement officers, school officials and others recognize signs of extremist activity. It has grown to include nearly 200 entries.

HOW DOES ICE BATTLE SANCTUARY CITIES?

“Even as extremists continue to use symbols that may be years or decades old, they regularly create new symbols, memes and slogans to express their hateful sentiments,” Anti-Defamation League CEO Jonathan Greenblatt said in a statement.

Some of the new entries started as trolling campaigns or hateful memes on internet message boards such as 4chan, 8chan and Reddit, before migrating to Facebook, Twitter and other mainstream platforms, and to public forums and fliers.

The ADL has updated its database to include the “OK” hand symbol, which became fodder for a 4chan trolling campaign to dupe viewers into thinking the fingers formed the letters “W″ and “P″ to mean “white power.” But the ADL says extremists also are using it as a sincere expression of white supremacy. Brenton Tarrant, the Australian man charged with killing 51 people at mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand, in March, flashed the “OK” symbol during a courtroom appearance after his arrest. Tarrant also had the number 14 written on his rifle, a possible reference to the “14 Words,” a white supremacist slogan, according to the Southern Poverty Law Center.

Oren Segal, director of the ADL’s Center on Extremism, said context is key to interpreting whether an “OK” symbol is hateful or harmless. He said the ADL had been reluctant to add it to the database “because ‘OK’ has meant just ‘OK’ for so long.”

“At this point, there is enough of a volume of use for hateful purposes that we felt it was important to add,” Segal said.

An earlier addition to the database was Pepe the Frog, a cartoon character that became hijacked by online extremists who superimposed the frog with Nazi symbols and other hateful imagery. The ADL branded Pepe as a hate symbol in September 2016 and supported cartoonist Matt Furie’s efforts to reclaim the character he created.

The “Happy Merchant,” one of the new database entries, is an anti-Semitic meme that depicts a stereotypical image of a bearded Jewish man rubbing his hands together. Another addition, the “Moon Man” meme, is derived from “Mac Tonight,” a character in a McDonald’s advertising campaign during the 1980s. Internet trolls transformed the sunglasses-wearing cartoon moon into a vehicle for rap songs with racist and violent lyrics.

The ADL also added the “Dylann Roof Bowlcut,” an image of the hairstyle worn by the white supremacist who shot and killed nine black people in 2015 at a church in Charleston, South Carolina.

Roof’s bowl-style hair became an avatar for extremists, including a Washington, D.C., man whose relatives contacted the FBI to report concerns about his behavior and far-right extremist rhetoric after last year’s Pittsburgh synagogue massacre. Jeffrey Clark’s username on the Gab social media platform was “DC Bowl Gang,” an FBI agent wrote in a court filing for gun charges against Clark.

Logos of white nationalist groups including the Rise Above Movement and the American Identity Movement also are among the new ADL database entries.

The recently formed American Identity Movement is the successor to the now-dissolved Identity Evropa, which frequently plastered its white nationalist propaganda on college campuses and is one of the groups that has been sued over the violence that erupted at a white nationalist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia , in August 2017.

Four members of the California-based Rise Above Movement pleaded guilty this year to attacking counterprotesters at the Charlottesville rally. A federal judge sentenced three of them to prison terms ranging from 27 months to 37 months.

UK Labour Party Doubles Down on Anti-Israel Bias

The UK Labour Party’s annual conference on foreign policy included a long list of anti-Israel proposals.

By United With Israel Staff

On Monday, at Britain’s Labour Party’s annual conference in Brighton, speakers called for a future government to adopt blatantly anti-Israel policies. Members of the Labour Party, lead by Jeremy Corbyn, have become notorious for anti-Semitic statements and virulently anti-Israel stances.

The gathering was laced with Palestinian flags, “Free Palestine” chants and overwhelming support for boycotts of Israeli products from Judea and Samaria. Additionally, there were calls to reject trade agreements with Israel, to halt the sale of British arms to the Jewish country, and to endorse the so-called Palestinian “right to return,” which seeks to flood Israel with the descendants of Arabs who voluntarily left or were expelled from territory that became the Jewish state.

According to a poll released on Sunday, two-thirds of Labour members do not believe the party has a “serious” problem with anti-Semitism, while more than half oppose the UK signing a trade agreement with Israel after Britain leaves the European Union.

Yet, polls show that the overwhelming majority of British Jews view Corbyn as an anti-Semite. So much so, that in July, Labour launched an educational website on anti-Semitism, along with an apology video from Corbyn admitting that his party had “a real problem with anti-Semitism.” In the video, Corbyn apologized for the “hurt that has been caused to many Jewish people” and admitted that his party’s reaction to combating anti-Semitism was too slow.
Following the conference, strong reactions from pro-Israel groups spread across the internet.

Director of Labour Friends of Israel Jennifer Gerber tweeted, “Jeremy Corbyn’s Labour Party is the home for anti-Jewish racists and Israel haters….This is another dark day in the history of the Labour Party.”
Gerber added, “It’s no wonder the Jewish community fears the prospect of him becoming prime minister.”

Director of We Believe In Israel and a former member of Labour’s National Executive Committee (NEC), Luke Akehurst noted that this is the second consecutive year in which Labour’s conference has debated Israel. “This cannot be unlinked to the pathological obsession with Israel and Jews which has driven the party’s anti-Semitism crisis,” he said according to the Times of Israel.

Since 2015, when Corbyn took charge of the Labour Party, it has suffered from claims that the party is anti-Semitic, leading to the suspension or expulsion of multiple members and officials. The UK’s Equality and Human Rights Commission has investigated the party.

General elections in the UK are expected to take place before the end of the year.

British Jews have expressed grave apprehensions about the fate of their community should Corbyn be tapped to serve as prime minister.

The Women’s March, the radical leftist feminist group formed in response to the 2016 election, has managed to weather some bad optics recently.

That is until it went and made the same mistake again, forcing organizers to yet again backtrack and dismiss another anti-Semite.

The organization was rightly applauded for cutting ties with leaders who were either anti-Semitic or supporters of such views. Tamika Mallory, Bob Bland and the notorious Linda Sarsour all stepped down last month, only to be replaced by more anti-Semites.

Tablet reported last year that Mallory was especially toxic, asserting that she had espoused anti-Semitic and racist views from the very beginning of the movement.

According to several sources, she made a point of addressing the relationship between black people and Jews, claiming that they were collectively responsible for exploiting minorities and even orchestrating the slave trade.
She also became known as a consistent critic of white women, as fellow Women’s March leader Evvie Harmon told Tablet.

“Tamika told us that the problem was that there were five white women in the room and only three women of color, and that she didn’t trust white women. Especially white women from the South,” she said, discussing an official meeting in Mallory’s apartment.

“I suddenly realized that Tamika and Carmen [Perez] were facing Vanessa [Wruble], who was sitting on a couch, and berating her — but it wasn’t about her being white. It was about her being Jewish. ‘Your people this, your people that.’”

Bland, whose real name is Mari Lynn Foulger, has consistently denied Mallory said either of those things, while also defending her colleague’s friendship with rabid anti-Semite Louis Farrakhan.

Sarsour, of course, needs no introduction. Her laundry list of anti-Semitic views is well-documented, from her support of Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions to her defense of Rep. Ilhan Omar.

So who stepped in to replace them, albeit temporarily?

One of the new board members was San Francisco lawyer Zahra Billoo, who just so happens to be the executive director of her local chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, The Washington Free Beacon reported.

As if that isn’t bad enough, Daily Wire reporter Ryan Saavedra was able to uncover some disgusting tweets from Billoo. And there’s a lot of them.

As we focus on International Holocaust Remembrance Day, unfortunately, we must admit that nobody has learn anything to ensure it doesn’t happen again. Antisemitism is alive and well, and growing at a rapid speed in the freedom loving world. Us Jews will survive it, as we always do, but the people of the freedom loving world will not. This is a MUST SEE video of Rabbi Jonathan Sacks.

Holocaust
The Holocaust was only one result of antisemitism in history. Jews were persecuted under Christian regimes for centuries, being expelled by Spain, Poland and even England. Jews also were persecuted under Islamic regimes for centuries.

In each and every country where Jews were expelled or persecuted it always started with the Jews but never ended with the Jews. Every society that allowed Jew hatred to permeate mainstream society ended up self-destructing.

Jews are a Blessing
It’s time that the nations of the world accept the simple fact that the almighty repeatedly states in the Bible. Jews are a blessing, those who bless the Jews will be blessed, those who curse the Jews will be cursed. One doesn’t have to be a “believer” to accept this, one just has to open up the history books.

What antisemites have done to completely rewrite history

Antisemites rewrite history. It’s how they spread vile lies about Israel and the Jewish people. Melanie Phillips shows how anti-Zionism is the exact same.

Trying to Rewrite History
Antisemites love to claim that being an anti-Zionist is perfectly acceptable and not antisemitic in the slightest. But that is just wrong. It is false. And it is part of the lies. Anti-Zionism distorts the truth. It rewrites the facts. Anti-Zionists rewrite history! As Melanie Phillips said, “Anti-Zionism thus writes the Jews uniquely out of their own history.” The claims they make against Israel are false. The Jews did not steal their own homeland that they have lived in continuously for thousands of years. The Jews do not oppress the Palestinian Arabs. And claiming they do is not only antisemitic, it is anti-Zionistic as well. They are truly one and the same.

Criticizing Israel
As Phillips points out, it is acceptable to criticize Israel and some of its policies. That is part of democracy! No one denies that. But there is most definitely a difference between criticizing and delegitimizing; disagreeing and demonizing. When antisemites proudly declare that it is perfectly okay to criticize the Jewish state, they are not just criticizing. They are spreading lies. They are protesting the good and siding with the terrorism. The antisemites do not just disagree with a policy or two of the Israeli government, they disagree with the state of Israel existing at all! Why? Because it is a JEWISH state – the only one. Why does the world try to separate that from antisemitism? It is the same thing, just more modernized!

Pastor in Florida calls for murder of Jewish comedian
By Leah Rosenberg -  August 15, 2019 145 0

What this pastor said about Jewish comedian Sarah Silverman is horrific. What kind of religious leader can say such terrible things?

Sarah Silverman
Pastor Adam Fannin gave a speech about Jewish Comedian Sarah Silverman that should appall anyone and everyone. It is so antisemitic that it is hard to listen to. He calls for her violent death. He hopes God kills her.

But Silverman claims the comedy routine he is referring to in his speech was taken out of context. She also said that she has changed as a comedian and would not necessarily support all the skits she had previously done. Regardless of if Silverman was wrong or right in her comedy act, it does not warrant death wishes from a pastor.

We are not fans of Sarah Silverman, her politics or much of her comedic work. However, she does not deserve death threats. No Jew, nobody deserves death threats.

Is Antisemitism Now the Norm?
When you hear speeches like this, it makes you wonder if antisemitism has become the norm. This pastor should be preaching some religious topic and trying to inspire people, yet he did the complete opposite. Does he believe that what he says is what God wants? Does he truly believe that calling for the murder of a Jew is what God has commanded of him? He should most definitely not be a pastor.

But the problem is, this is not an isolated case. Antisemitism has been rampant throughout the world. Will there be enough people who care to stop this?

London: Man shoves baby stroller, calls parents ‘dirty Jews’

Police investigating incident in which a young man hurled an object in the direction of a Jewish family and called them “dirty Jews”.

BY ARUTZ SHEVA, AUGUST 7, 2019:
A JEWISH FAMILY FROM THE UNITED KINGDOM HAS COMPLAINED TO POLICE ABOUT A YOUNG MAN WHO WAS FILMED HURLING AN OBJECT IN THEIR DIRECTION AND CALLING THEM “DIRTY JEWS” ON A LONDON STREET AFTER SHOVING THEIR BABY STROLLER, JTA REPORTED ON TUESDAY.
The incident, which occurred on Sunday, escalated after the man pushed aside the family’s baby stroller while an infant was inside it. The parents, who were sitting at a café on St. Albans Street, protested, prompting the man to call them “dirty Jews.”

When the man saw a passerby filming the exchange with a cellular phone, he tried knocking the device from that person’s hand, according to JTA. Then he kicked an advertising board in the family’s direction and walked away.

Police are treating the incident as a hate crime, according to the report.

The incident took place days after the Community Security Trust (CST) released a report which found that a record number of nearly 900 anti-Semitic incidents have been recorded in the United Kingdom for the first six months of 2019.

The Social Geography of the BDS Movement and Antisemitism
By Dr. Alex Joffe August 8, 2019
https://besacenter.org/perspectives-papers/social-geography-bds-antisemitism/
BDS France, image via Wikipedia

BESA Center Perspectives Paper No. 1,249, August 8, 2019

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: An original analysis of the global distribution of BDS Internet searches revealed disproportionate interest in countries such as New Zealand, Ireland, and Sweden, as well as in coastal US states with large academic institutions. In the former regions there are few Jews and little contact with Israel, while in the latter, there are many Jews but proportionately fewer Christian supporters of Israel. A simple explanation for these patterns is that BDS interest correlates with post-Christian contexts in which Jews are relatively absent, or with “white” class anxiety emanating from academia. In the US, growing negativity about Israel in liberal Western communities is likely a class-based transfer of anxiety regarding ”white privilege” onto Israel and Jews.

Hillel Frisch’s highly original analysis of the popularity of BDS raises important questions about the character of this global ”movement.” In brief, by examining the geography of Google queries on BDS and Israel’s legitimacy, Frisch concludes that interest in BDS may be slowing, but it is also distributed uniquely.

Underlying this distribution are important factors that deserve highlighting.

Frisch found, for example, that Google searches regarding BDS in New Zealand, Ireland, and Sweden exceed those in the US and Britain. That is to say, individuals in post-Christian countries with almost no Jews and few relationships with Israel exhibit a disproportionate interest in negative information regarding both.

One explanation for this is that it is precisely the relative absence of Jews and contact with Israel that drives interest. There is a curious symmetry there with the obsessions of Islamic countries like Saudi Arabia and Indonesia, which are entirely Jew-free. In both, Israel and Jews are given a disproportionate place in media and scholarship and are ascribed an outsized role in world affairs, albeit with different interpretations.

The relative Jewish (and general religious) void in places like New Zealand and Sweden is filled by historical refractions of Christian antisemitism, contemporary left-wing politics, and the effects of Muslim migration. The left-wing affinity toward Palestinians is a traditional secular religious article of faith, given new impetus by immigrant populations.

But there is another driver in the West, a broader leftward movement of ”white progressive” populations and politicians. Even in the absence of either Jews or Muslims, affluent, liberal communities are being influenced by the progressive left and are moving toward more strident and negative attitudes toward Israel. Hostility is becoming a normative position based on decontextualized notions of ”war crimes,” ”human rights” or Israel’s ”right-wing government,” founded on post-colonialist ”anti-imperialist” intellectual stances. In turn, these notions, specifically aimed at Israel, Jews, and the US, are being woven into the fabric of liberal middle class respectability.

The simplest explanation for this phenomenon is that affluent ”white” populations anxious about their own status in the racialized context of American and now global politics seek to defray their ”privilege” by scapegoating Israel and Jews and pandering to further left (and ethnic minority) opinions. Dislike for Israel and Jews is a litmus test and symbol of enlightened status. Since support for Israel (at least in the US) is strongly correlated with traditional religious viewpoints, anti-Israel bias serves to distinguish social classes even more broadly.

This interpretation also helps explain Frisch’s finding that expressions of American interest in BDS on Google are disproportionately centered in coastal states, especially those with numerous academic institutions. Emanating directly from academia, these attitudes are becoming naturalized throughout affluent, “white,” and Democratic constituencies. To this, as Frisch notes, must be added states that have growing Muslim populations, such as Minnesota and Michigan, which have now elected overt BDS supporters to Congress.

Ironically, growing explicit support for boycotting Israel by neo-Nazi groups puts the respectable progressive left in a de facto alliance with the far right, broadening what had been a convergence between the disreputable left and right, such as between Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan and neo-Nazi leader David Duke. These realities point to both the perennial utility of antisemitism for extremist movements and the collapse of such categories as left and right.

Conversely, Frisch found that countries such as Nigeria, Kenya, and the Philippines show Google searches that are disproportionately philo-Semitic. The preponderance of evangelical Christianity in these countries is part of the obvious explanation for this phenomenon, as are their negative historical and contemporary experiences with Islam. As more African and Christianizing countries in Asia, especially China, become more connected to the Internet and the global information environment, we may expect similar results.

But BDS is not simply a free-floating social preference among particular demographics. Institutionally it is a key instrument of the red-green alliance between left-wing “social democratic,” which is to say communist, organizations and Muslim Brotherhood-controlled groups. Human agents drive and shape its narratives, which are pulling broader constituencies leftward and toward Israel antipathy.

New research by the Community Security Trust (CST) in Britain has also shown that the information environment in which politicians and populations alike operate has been driven by social media “engine rooms” that churn out endless streams of hostile postings about Israel. Labour members from Islamist, socialist, and pro-BDS backgrounds are all part of this Corbynite cadre, targeting Labour critics inside and outside the party as well as Jews and Israel. This is Soviet-style information warfare cranked up to an entirely new level.

Institutionally, these efforts mesh with the effective takeover of Labour under Jeremy Corbyn by the Israel-obsessed. Another report submitted as part of the Equality and Human Rights Commission investigation into Labour antisemitism demonstrates that the leadership of the Labour Party after the election of Corbyn set about systematically taking over party structures and radicalizing members against Israel and its supporters, especially Jews.

The obsession of a minority permitted the disinhibition of a broader group of bigots, and, indeed, encouraged it. They then indulged in all manner of crude antisemitism. The same process, of an Israel-hating “social democratic” fringe seeking to take over the broader party and in the process dragging it and politics as a whole leftward, is underway with the Democrats.

But another curious feature of this process is that with the election of Boris Johnson as leader of the Tory Party and his elevation to Prime Minister, Labour wrath has now descended on those ethnic minorities who had the temerity to join Johnson’s Cabinet. The same process has occurred in American politics, as supporters of Trump are accused of being “racists” and “white supremacists,“ and even within the American Jewish community, as Jews accuse other Jews of supporting Trumpist and Israeli “white supremacy.” Revolutions invariably create conflicts between the radicals and the extremely radical. Politics as a whole is the casualty but minorities who fail to conform are, with Jews, among the first victims.

Like antisemitism, BDS is both an environment and an instrument; it exists as a free-floating cultural norm both of the far left and far right, and as a tool utilized against Israel and Jews. The presence or absence of Jews is secondary and the complex realities of Israel are irrelevant. But the creep of BDS and resulting antisemitism into the normative liberal political behavior of Western countries where Jews have been an active, welcome presence in post-war history is an ominous development.

Storming the Women’s March Stage
Most people would not have the courage to do what Laura Loomer did at the Women’s March. She stood up and confronted the organizers for their blatant Jew-hatred. The people they associate with, the things they say – it all is just antisemitic. And Loomer was not going to stand for that. She is a Jew herself and rightly so, she yelled out, “The Women’s March does not represent Jewish people.” The March does not invite or represent all women. Their organizers are people like Linda Sarsour. They hate Jews. They love people like Louis Farrakhan who is a vile anti-semite.

So, it is understandable that Laura Loomer wanted to protest.
When the World Ignores It
When the world ignores such obvious antisemitism, it is frightening. Louis Farrakhan praises Hitler. And the Women’s March organizers praise Louis Farrakhan. By definition, they are praising Hitler as well.
How can anyone let this go on anymore? Who would even want to be part of such a despicable march? Laura Loomer tried to make a loud statement because it is truly too quiet when it comes to antisemitism. More voices need to speak up!

The BBC Revelations: Holocaust Promoters Inside the Labour Party
By Dr. Manfred Gerstenfeld July 24, 2019

BESA Center Perspectives Paper No. 1,236, July 24, 2019

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: One of the most sensational revelations of the recently screened BBC Panorama documentary on antisemitism within the British Labour Party is the presence there of actual Holocaust promoters. The documentary did not address every element of Labour antisemitism, but did provide much new information on “smokescreening” by the leadership: the practice of falsely claiming that it took determined action against antisemitism when in fact it took only partial, lukewarm action.

The BBC Panorama documentary on antisemitism within the British Labour party broadcast on July 10 had a number of major merits. It exposed many unknown details about Jew-hatred within the party and provided much new information about one of the important aspects of Labour antisemitism, “smokescreening.” It also revealed that some members of the Labour party are actual Holocaust promoters. One former staffer interviewed said she was regularly told that “Hitler was right” and “Hitler did not go far enough.”

“Smokescreening” is claiming that one is taking determined action to solve a problem when one is in fact only making a partial effort. This is the practice of a number of individuals who hold senior positions within the Labour party. They do not openly say, “We protect antisemites, whom we consider valuable to the party,” but this in fact exactly what they do.

Jeremy Corbyn is a master smokescreener. He has said on many occasions that his party will stamp out antisemitism. When criticizing the Panorama documentary he did so again, saying: “Antisemitism is a poison, it is vile, it is wrong… It is a poison in our society and any other society … It is not acceptable in any form.”

Similarly, Labour Secretary General Jennie Formby entitled an article she published in February of this year: “Eliminate the evil of antisemitism from our movement – that is my mission.“

One former Labour staffer said in the documentary that Formby’s claim of prioritizing the party’s antisemitism problem was “a joke.“ Another former staffer who dealt with antisemitism complaints said interference from Labour’s head office in the processing of those complaints was so extreme that he considered suicide. He had planned to do it by jumping from Formby’s office balcony.

Initially, the BBC documentary was available for worldwide viewership. However, a few days after airing, the BBC limited viewership to the UK. The documentary is, however, available online.

The Panorama documentary was by no means a complete exposé of all aspects of antisemitism inside the Labour party, so they warrant mention here. The central issue is Corbyn, a terrorist sympathizer and self-defined “antiracist.” He has called representatives of Hezbollah and Hamas “brothers” and “friends.” He has made donations to a Holocaust denier and welcomed another. He is a long-term anti-Israel inciter and antisemite.

The documentary made clear that Corbyn’s arrival as party leader in September 2015 greatly encouraged the antisemites in Labour to go public. A staffer said that before his arrival, complaints about antisemitism were very limited. In a reaction to the program, another former staffer (who did not appear on it) said that in an average week there were dozens if not hundreds of complaints.

In analyzing the various elements of the revelation of Labour’s antisemitism problem, attention should be paid to the indirect role of Corbyn’s predecessor, Ed Miliband. He made Corbyn’s ascension as leader possible. He instituted a policy that supporters paying only £3 (about $4) could vote in the Labour leadership contest. In the documentary, Corbyn is shown saying that 160,000 more people received voting rights this way.  Many came from the extreme left.

Corbyn and his inner circle could easily have stamped out antisemitic outbursts among Labourites in the more than three years since the first significant manifestations of it, which occurred among Labour students at Oxford University. There is much evidence that the Labour leadership simply did not want to do so. In fact, it afforded protection to some of the worst offenders. All in all, since Corbyn became leader, only 15 members have been expelled due to antisemitism. A few others, fearing they would be expelled, appear to have left of their own volition. The House of Commons Home Affairs Committee’s 2016 report said the Labour leadership’s lack of action “risks lending force to allegations that elements of the Labour movement are institutionally antisemitic.”

This has been detailed by Alan Johnson, a scholar and Labour member, who published a report entitled Institutionally Antisemitic: Contemporary Left Antisemitism and the Crisis in the British Labour Party.

The possibility of a full-fledged investigation into antisemitism after the preliminary one by the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) made no impression on Corbyn. This public body has now announced a full enquiry. Only one party has ever been subjected to such an investigation: the British National Party, a small, extreme rightwing organization. More than 30 whistleblowers, including current members of Labour staff, have said they will submit evidence to the EHRC.

A crucial but underreported issue is the number of Labour members who make antisemitic remarks. Lord Falconer, a former high-ranking Labour minister, has said there are thousands of antisemites among Labour members. The aforementioned statement from the staffer about the average number of complaints per week backs this up.

Corbyn reacted to the Panoroma documentary by saying, “It’s less than 0.1% of our membership that have ever been involved in any accusation, never mind any resolution of the issue.” But if Falconer is correct, there should be at least 2,000 – and probably many more – antisemites in the party. This represents more than 0.4% of the Labour membership, which stood at around 512,000 early in 2019. These calculations greatly understate the reality, however. One hears mainly about antisemitic complaints concerning Labour party office holders and elected officials. To be more accurate, one might add activists.

Ordinary Labour members who make antisemitic remarks – on Facebook, for instance – are not necessarily publicly identified as Labourites. It is thus prudent to focus on officeholders and elected officials who have made such remarks.

As a reaction to the Panorama documentary, the four most senior Labour leaders in the House of Lords wrote to Corbyn offering to establish a panel to review the allegations of the former staffers. They also offered advice on how to start a properly independent complaints process. As the habit of “smokescreening” is ingrained in the current Labour leadership, this suggestion could be a partial means of getting rid of many antisemites in the party.

One positive element has emerged from the Labour antisemitism battle. A number of MPs, including non-Jewish ones, such as Deputy Leader Tom Watson, are actively fighting antisemitism in the party. So too is the Jewish Labour Movement (JLM), which has been part of the Labour party for almost 100 years.

An imam’s message from the Auschwitz death camp

Auschwitz Death Camp
It is common for the Jewish people to visit the Auschwitz death camp as well as other concentration camps where the Nazis committed the worst atrocities. But how often do you have an imam visit? How often are people like Mohamad Tawhidi willing to risk their lives to share the truth? Sadly, not often. Listening to Imam Tawhidi is extremely powerful. Hearing him speak about the millions of Jews that were murdered in the Holocaust is so important. So many deny the Holocaust ever even happened, or they deny how many Jews were killed, but Tawhidi went to the actual place of so much death. He chooses to fight against antisemitism.

Imam Tawhidi’s Message
“Never Again.” Tawhidi wants the world to remember how crucial it is that “this never happens again. That the atmosphere for this is never created again. That we do not pave the way for these crimes to happen again.”

This imam is particularly speaking to the American Congress and about those in it who are extremely antisemitic. The fact that an imam has the courage to speak out against the people in his religion who are radicals is unique. Listening to Mohamad Tawhidi speak from Auschwitz against antisemitism and hatred is reassuring that there are good people in the world. There are people who stand up to the horrific antisemitism that has been taking place worldwide, and now even in the American Congress. If only the rest of the world had the courage to speak up.

Germany Remains Deeply Anti-Semitic
Feb 3, 2018  |  by Ben Cohen

Germany Remains Deeply Anti-Semitic
How anti-Semitic is Germany today? A Holocaust survivor stuns German TV viewers with her candid answer.

A 93-year-old survivor of Auschwitz stunned the viewers of one of Germany’s most popular political talk shows last Sunday when – asked to compare the Nazi era with the situation today – she asserted that the two periods had more in common than many people may care to admit.

“I think that Germany was always anti-Semitic, that has not changed much,” Esther Bejarano – who was enslaved in the infamous “women’s orchestra” of the Auschwitz death camp – told the ARD Network‘s flagship “Anne Will Show.”

Auschwitz survivor Esther Bejarano speaking on German TV.

Bejarano was one of several guests on an International Holocaust Remembrance Day edition of the show that asked the question, “How anti-Semitic is Germany today?” Other guests who participated in the candid and often emotional discussion included two government ministers, a prominent human rights advocate and a leading scholar of modern Jewish history.

Much of the show was dedicated to a harrowing interview with Bejarano about her incarceration in Auschwitz. She began by relating that her father had been a stalwart German patriot, convinced that the German people would reject Adolf Hitler’s Nazi Party. But after the Nazis came to power and prevented the family from emigrating to British Mandatory Palestine, Bejarano was imprisoned in a hard labor camp in Germany, before being deported to the Auschwitz death camp in Poland in April 1943.

Initially assigned to a slave labor detail, Bejarano, an accomplished pianist, was selected to play the accordion in the women’s orchestra that performed outside in all weathers as slave laborers toiled under the gaze of gun-wielding camp guards. The first tune she played for her Nazi tormentors, she recalled, was a popular upbeat ballad of the time entitled, “You’re in luck with the women, Bel Ami!”

Esther Bejarano, 1938

It was Bejarano’s status as a Holocaust survivor who has spent decades sharing her experiences with younger Germans that amplified the shocked response to her claim that Germany remains deeply anti-Semitic. The humbled response to Bejarano from Germany’s Minister of the Arts, Monika Grütters – “Five and a half million people visit our memorial sites every year, but it can never be enough” – suggested that the government too has been taken aback by the scale of the problem, even as it embarks on an effort to address it.

Germany, in the year 2018, is still facing a massive problem with hatred toward Jews.
The recent announcement of a federal commissioner to deal with anti-Semitism – as part of a legislative program to deal with anti-Jewish hostility from both the German far right and from within the Muslim immigrant community – is intended to be a major part of the government’s counterattack. Interviewed by The Algemeiner last week, Josef Schuster, the president of the German Jewish community, stated candidly that “Germany, in the year 2018, is still facing a massive problem with hatred toward Jews.”

Several of the other guests on the “Anne Will Show” sounded an equally dark note about the current situation. Wenzel Michalski – the director of global human rights organization Human Rights Watch’s office in Berlin – emphasized the strong showing in last year’s elections by the stridently anti-immigrant AfD Party in making the point, “I think there is a lot of talk about the culture of remembrance, but little is done about it.”

Michalski also illustrated the issue of anti-Semitism among Muslim immigrants with a deeply personal story involving his son, who was badly bullied by his schoolmates of Turkish and Arab descent. After being showered with anti-Semitic insults including “Jewish murderer,” Michalski’s son was eventually beaten up and then subjected to a mock execution. “With one exception, his teachers did nothing,” Michalski disclosed.

41 percent of German children over the age of 14 had not heard of Auschwitz.
Much of the discussion on the show centered on whether visits to the sites of concentration camps should be made compulsory for immigrants who want to acquire German citizenship. “Of course, not every visit to a concentration camp memorial immediately leads to immunization against anti-Semitism,” said Sawsan Chebli, a leading member of the socialist SPD party, and a former Foreign Ministry spokesman. “But it makes a difference if I open a book and read something or go to a memorial,” Chebli, who is the daughter of Palestinian parents, added.

Lack of knowledge and empathy for the victims of the Holocaust remains a serious challenge in German schools as well. A study conducted last year by the Forsa Institute and the Körber Foundation found that 41 percent of German children over the age of 14 had not even heard of Auschwitz.

Arts Minister Grütters pledged that the German government would reinvigorate its Holocaust education programs. “At a time when anti-Semitic and anti-Israeli hate speech on social media is increasing, education about National Socialism is more necessary than ever,” she said.

Sweden Is a Perplexing Location for an Antisemitism Conference
By Dr. Manfred Gerstenfeld July 2, 2019

Screenshot from MEMRI TV video of antisemitic demonstration in Malmo, Sweden, 2017
BESA Center Perspectives Paper No. 1,215, July 2, 2019
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: Sweden’s Social Democrat PM Stefan Löfven has announced that in 2020 his country will host an international antisemitism conference to commemorate the Holocaust. This is perplexing in view of both Sweden’s and the Social Democrat party’s abysmal records on antisemitism and anti-Israel incitement. Jewish organizations should make an effort to prevent the Swedish government from turning this conference into a PR stunt.

Sweden’s Social Democrat PM Stefan Löfven has announced that his country will host an international antisemitism conference to commemorate the Holocaust. This gathering of heads of state and governments is planned for October 27-28, 2020, and is to be held in Sweden’s third-largest city, Malmö.

This is a perplexing announcement. One would expect the initiative for such a conference to come from a country that has made serious efforts to fight antisemitism. Sweden has a long history of unanswered antisemitic incidents. The Board of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) in Sweden voted in 2016 to accept the definition of antisemitism – yet the country does not accept the definition domestically (while the UK, Germany, Austria, Israel, and a number of other countries do). Extreme manifestations of antisemitism, unequaled elsewhere, have taken place in Sweden. The Jewish community of the Swedish town of Umea had to disband entirely because it was threatened by neo-Nazis and harassed by radical Muslims.

In May of this year, the Swedish National Council for Crime Prevention (BRA) released a report on antisemitic hate crimes. The report notes that Jew-hatred in Sweden stems from the left wing, the right wing, and the Muslim population. Antisemitism is openly expressed, and “there are few places where people with a Jewish background feel safe.”

For many months, the Simon Wiesenthal Center (SWC) has been fighting a battle against antisemitism at the internationally known Karolinska University Hospital in Solna, near Stockholm. The SWC lodged a complaint with the hospital’s then CEO when it became known that open antisemitism by a senior supervising physician was ignored by hospital management for almost a year. Two Jewish physicians had already quit for this reason. The remaining Jewish doctor was offered a cash bribe by a negotiator at the Stockholm County Council to retract his testimony against his antisemitic superior. Even diplomats of the US embassy in Sweden have looked into this scandal. In early June, after a new CEO arrived at the hospital, it was finally announced that the senior physician will be permanently reassigned to an administrative, non-patient service position.

Löfven’s choice of Malmö as the location for the conference is also surprising. This city was considered by experts for years to be the capital of antisemitism in Europe. There have been hundreds of complaints about antisemitism there, but none has led to judicial action. (Though the situation in Malmö has not improved, it has lost its title as Europe’s antisemitism capital to Berlin, where there are far more Jews to harass.)

During a march for workers’ rights in Malmö on May 1 of this year, the youth league of the Social Democrats sang “crush the Zionists.” Leading the rally was the town’s former mayor, Ilmar Reepalu, who should have been expelled by the Social Democrats long ago. When, in 2012, then US Special Envoy for Combatting Antisemitism Hannah Rosenthal visited Malmö, she pointed to Reepalu as an example of the new antisemitism, in which anti-Israelism serves as a guise for hatred of Jews.

In June 2019, the spokesman of the Malmö Jewish community said it might close down in the coming decade. This would be the result, in part, of the authorities’ complete indifference to the community’s security needs. Following this announcement, two philanthropists promised to donate $4 million to cover the community’s security costs. The town’s coalition, comprising the Social Democrats and the Liberals, has refused to allocate funds from the municipal budget.

Löfven’s party has a long record of anti-Israel incitement by many of its leading figures. The country’s best known postwar PM, Social Democrat Olof Palme, was one of the very few leaders of a democratic country to openly compare Israel’s acts to those of the Nazis. In 1984, Deputy FM Pierre Schori, a Social Democrat, visited Israel. He praised Arafat and his “flexible policy,” claiming in an article that the terrorist acts of the PLO were “meaningless” while Israel’s retaliatory acts were “despicable acts of terrorism.”

Former Israeli ambassador to Sweden Zvi Mazel said, “The late foreign minister Anna Lindh [who served from 1998-2003] usually made the most vicious attacks on Israel. Her hatred of Israel can only be described as almost pathological. Under her leadership Sweden published the greatest number of one-sided condemnations of Israel of any EU country.”

Lindh’s successor as FM, Laila Freivalds (who served from 2003-06), also a Social Democrat, visited Yad Vashem in June 2004 to honor murdered Jews, then followed the visit by heavily criticizing Israel at a meeting at the Israeli Foreign Ministry. Freivalds remained silent on Sweden’s extensive antisemitism.

This phenomenon of paying honor to dead Jews, criticizing Israel, and completely ignoring or diminishing one’s own country’s delinquencies toward living Jews is common in Europe. Freivalds’ behavior was subsequently exposed by four former chairmen of the Swedish Jewish community who wrote about the rampant racism and antisemitism in the country.

The current Swedish FM, Margot Wallström, also a Social Democrat, has asked for an investigation into the killing of terrorists by Israel. She hasn’t made any such request from other democratic countries where terrorists have been killed after attacks. According to the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance definition, by singling Israel out in this way, Wallström committed an antisemitic act.

In January 2019, the European Commission published a report on perceptions of antisemitism in the 28 EU member states. Sweden was found to be the country where the largest part of the general population, 80%, think antisemitism is a problem.

There are reports that Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu rejected requests for a meeting with Löfven at the UN in 2016 and 2017. This was because of Sweden’s decision to recognize a Palestinian state in 2014. One wonders whether Israel will attend the planned conference in 2020. Its absence would thoroughly undermine its credibility.

The best reaction to the announced conference would be the preparation of a detailed black book on antisemitism and anti-Israel incitement in Sweden to be widely distributed and sent ahead of the conference to all participants. In the meantime, one should expect international Jewish organizations to provide participants with a detailed overview of Sweden’s below par record on fighting antisemitism. This might force the Swedish government to finally accept the IHRA definition for domestic use and start acting against antisemitism. If it does not, it could at least prevent the Swedish government from abusing the conference for public relations purposes

Molotov Cocktails Thrown at Jewish Community as Arson Terror Attacks Continue
By Avi Abelow -  June 25, 2019 3392 0
https://israelunwired.com/molotov-cocktails-thrown-at-jewish-community-as-arson-terror-attacks-continue/
Arab Muslims threw Molotov cocktails today at the community of Carmei Tzur, in the Gush Etzion region of the Judean Hills, setting fires outside of the community.

Ongoing Arson Terror
Today over 20 fires were started by terror bombs and molotov cocktails, mostly from arson terror from terrorists in Gaza, but a number in the Judean Hills as well. This is over a year and a half of arson terror attacks that have included balloon bombs, molotov cocktails and many other homemade incendiary devices.
Gaza terrorists preparing terror ballons

Yesterday, the Gush Etzion region experienced a different fire attack.
Statement posted yesterday by the Gush Etzion Foundation: It could have ended much worse … Below is a short video about a fire that began in the Rosh Tzurim industrial zone, which was quickly extinguished by volunteers utilizing a fire wagon donated by the Liverant family, one of our ’emergency fire equipment’ campaign supporters.
The Foundation supplies the various Gush Etzion communities with fire wagons and other equipment so that our volunteers can respond until the fire trucks arrive.
This type of quick response saves lives and minimizes property damage. To learn more or to help purchase this important equipment, please click on the link below.

Gush Etzion Fire Prevention Emergency Campaign
Gush Etzion is located in the Judean Hills, just 20 kilometers south of Jerusalem. Most of our 22 communities are surrounded by lush forests. The recent fires throughout Israel have also affected the Gush, jeopardizing the safety of many of our communities and residents, along with agricultural and tourism sites.
While sometimes wildfires breakout as a result of intense heatwaves, some of the forests near our communities have been targeted in arson attacks by hostile neighboring Arabs. This type of agricultural terrorism is a dangerous reality, which cannot be ignored.
Our main fire station is located at the Gush Etzion junction and services all of our communities, business parks, shopping centers, and common areas. However, since Gush Etzion is spread out over a large mountainous terrain, it can take the fire responders up to 25 minutes to arrive at the scene of a fire.
Therefore we are in dire need of first-response equipment such as fire wagons and many other items in order to control any blazes that might erupt, until the fire brigade arrives.
The first-response equipment is utilized by community volunteers who are prepared to safeguard their homes and the homes of their neighbors at a moment's notice 24/7. A fire wagon for example holds up to 25 liters of water, giving up to 25 minutes of relief until the firefighters arrive. This can be the difference between a small blaze and a full-blown forest fire.

Israel’s autotech sector just handed the Boycott Jews Movement (BDS) some humiliating defeat
By Geller Report Staff - on June 16, 2019
LATEST NEWS

Israeli technology and innovation are the most effective weapons against the BDS Movement. Frankly, they are the only weapons. Israel must never depend on America’s inept Jewish leaders to fight the BDS Movement.

Just like cyber security, digital health, AI, defense, and computer vision, Israel’s technological expertise has made it a major player in the development of autonomous vehicles.

Israel’s auto-tech companies are being acquired (here, here, here) for billions of dollars. The worlds largest car makers (here, here  here, here, here, and here ) are flocking to Israel to open R&D centers. This past week was another eventful one for Israel’s auto-tech sector, and another bad week for the BDS Movement.

It is laughable for the mainstream (fake) media to say that Israel is isolated. In the not so distant future it is those who chose to boycott Israel who will be isolated.

NEW FORD CENTER IN ISRAEL WILL GROW QUICKLY, SAYS FORD CEO
Bill Ford inaugurated the new center and took part in the EcoMotion 2019 smart mobility show held in Tel Aviv earlier this week

Meir Orbach, CTech, June 13, 2019:

Ford Motor Company executive chairman Bill Ford expects the company’s new research center in Tel Aviv to expand quickly, Ford said in an interview with Calcalist Wednesday. The center was inaugurated the same day. “More than just buying companies, we want to partner with companies,” Ford said.

The new center will serve as a research hub in conjunction with Ford’s global research and advanced engineering team, the company said in a statement.

Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance inaugurates Tel Aviv innovation lab, partners with over 10 startups

NCT, NoCamels, June 10, 2019:

The Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance, a world-leading Franco-Japanese strategic partnership of auto giants, inaugurated its innovation lab in Tel Aviv on Monday, announcing close collaborations with over 10 Israeli companies and startups.

The new 1600-square-meter facility was set up at the Atidim High-Tech Park in partnership with the Israel Innovation Authority, and with CityZone, the Tel Aviv Municipality’s “living lab” where advanced technological solutions for smart city ventures are vetted and tested.

General Motors, In Race to Auto 2.0, Leads In Snagging Israeli High-Tech Partnerships

Doron Levin, Forbes, June 13, 2019:

GM looking to hire another 100 engineers for Israel researcher center.

The global automotive industry’s migration to Israel in search of innovative ideas, start-up talent and high-tech partnerships is no longer a new trend: Almost every automaker or parts supplier of consequence has fielded at least a team of scouts based in the Tel Aviv area.

General Motors Co. is moving far beyond the scouting phase. GM leads Israel’s automotive pack, employing 350 and occupying impressive new digs in Herzliya, just north of Tel Aviv, in a high-tech district that is home to outposts for Google, Apple and many others seeking talent,

13 of the best auto-tech startups at Israel’s Ecomotion conference

AUTONOMOUS-DRIVING, PARKING, RIDE-SHARING – ISRAEL’S INNOVATIVE AUTO-TECH STARTUPS ARE THRILLING THE WORLD.
Brian Blum, Israel21C, June 13, 2019:

More than 130 startups packed the Tel Aviv Exhibition center on June 11 for the main event of the seventh annual Ecomotion four-day conference. The vast majority of exhibitors are part of Israel’s burgeoning auto-tech industry, which is especially remarkable given that cars are not manufactured in Israel.

That didn’t stop Bill Ford, executive chairman of the company his great-grandfather Henry Ford started over 100 years ago, from praising Israeli ingenuity. The 62-year-old Ford was making his first visit to Israel.

ISRAEL-BASED NFT UNVEILS DESIGN FOR FLYING ELECTRIC CAR
CALLED ASAKA, JAPANESE FOR FLYING BIRD, NFT’S VEHICLE WILL BE EQUIPPED WITH 14 PROPELLERS AND COLLAPSABLE WINGS EXTRACTED BEFORE TAKE OFF
Udi Etsion, CTech, June 10, 2019:

Guy Kaplinsky, chairman of Israel-based startup NFT Inc. believes autonomous flying cars will solve city road congestion. For now, wealthy business people use helicopters to skip traffic in large cities such as San Francisco, but this solution is costly and complicated. Kaplinsky outlined another solution. His company, he said, is working to develop a flying electric autonomous car that could ease road congestion at a fraction of the cost of private helicopter flights. His car, he added, could allow people to live away from city centers without having to spend hours on the road.

Antisemitism in the UK Labour Party: An Ideal Case Study
By Dr. Manfred Gerstenfeld June 4, 2019

BESA Center Perspectives Paper No. 1,191, June 4, 2019

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: No organization in Europe can rival the British Labour party for the promotion of antisemitic hate, rendering it an ideal case study. As soon as the picture of Labour’s antisemitism appears reasonably complete, massive stores of new data emerge. The forthcoming investigation of Labour by the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is likely to provide one of history’s most profound analyses of antisemitism within a single organization.

Antisemitism is rising in many places in the Western world. If one wishes to study the many facets of contemporary hate promotion and identify ways to fight against it within a single organization, nothing in Europe can rival the British Labour party as a subject for analysis.

The main enabler of antisemitism in Labour is Jeremy Corbyn, the party’s leader since 2015. He has called representatives of Hezbollah and Hamas “brothers” and “friends.” Corbyn made donations to one Holocaust denier and welcomed another. He is a long-time anti-Israel inciter, and he and his close assistants are deliberately hindering the expulsion of antisemites from the party. The Sunday Times claimed that Corbyn’s office has been involved in delaying or blocking at least 101 such complaints.

There seems to be an inexhaustible supply of antisemitism in Labour. As soon as an apparently complete picture of the problem starts to take shape, massive new stores of data emerge.

In March 2019, British scholar Alan Johnson, a Labour member, published a 135-page report that concluded that the party is institutionally antisemitic. Johnson divided antisemitism in Labour into three categories: the socialism of fools, classic racial antisemitism, and antisemitism as anti-Zionism.

In May, Labour Against Antisemitism, a campaign of activists, submitted a file to the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC), a public body established by the Equality Act of 2006. The file contained 15,000 screenshots showing examples of alleged antisemitism in Labour.

Later in May, it became known that approximately 100,000 emails and WhatsApp messages from within Labour – collected by former party officials – would be submitted to the EHRC. This body, which has already undertaken the first step of a statutory inquiry into Labour’s handling of antisemitic complaints, has decided to open a full inquiry into Labour. This kind of investigation of a party has only happened once before. In 2010, the small cryptofascist British National party (BNP) was found guilty of racism.

The EHRC report on Labour may take up to two years to complete. It is likely to provide one of the most profound analyses of antisemitism within a single organization in history.

The whitewashing of antisemitism can also be studied by looking at the Labour party. The focus here would be on Labour members who have made antisemitic slurs but not been expelled. There is also the problem of individuals who target people who expose the antisemitism within the party.

Jews themselves are particularly useful in the whitewashing of antisemitism. The Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP), for example, is a small organization that supports Corbyn. Its secretary, Glyn Secker, addressed a pro-Palestinian rally in London, where he said the Jewish Labour Movement and Jewish MP Dame Margaret Hodge are a fifth column inside Labour. “Jews are in the gutter with these rats,” he added.

Rhea Wolfson is one of two Jews in Labour’s governing body, the National Executive Committee. She wrote in June 2018: “I’ve had the honor of working closely with Jeremy Corbyn, one of the most principled people in politics… Anyone who knows, has met, or worked with Jeremy Corbyn, as I have, knows that he does not have a prejudicial bone in his body, and is utterly committed to tackling antisemitism, as he is against all forms of discrimination and oppression, which he has fought against all his life. My commitment to Labour is unwavering and I am proud of the work that Jeremy is doing to tackle antisemitism in politics and wider society.”

Wolfson’s praises notwithstanding, the general British public does not believe Corbyn will end Labour’s antisemitism crisis. Fifty percent of all voters agreed in May 2019 that Labour has a problem with anti-Jewish racism, up from 43% in a similar poll in February of this year. The number of people who deny that Labour has such a problem fell from 23% in February to 18% in May.

Yet another major area worthy of research is the overlap in Labour between anti-Israel inciters and whitewashers of antisemitism. One example: former Labour Minister Clare Short wrote on her blog in July 2016, “The charge of antisemitism used against members of the Labour party critical of Israel is a ploy to detract from Israel’s breaches of international law.”

The Labour party is also an ideal place to investigate what might be called the “smokescreening” of the antisemitism issue, a subject rarely researched. The party’s leaders do not say, “We protect antisemites, whom we consider valuable to the party.” On the contrary: Corbyn has on many occasions said the party will stamp out antisemitism.

When Jennie Formby became Labour’s General Secretary at the beginning of 2018, she promised that complaints would be dealt with within a few months. Many cases remain unprocessed, and new ones kept emerging. In February 2019 she said that antisemitism cannot be stamped out totally: “I don’t think anyone can ever say that we can eradicate antisemitism completely and stop every single person … every single day someone else could join the party tomorrow and do something.” Whether this is true or not, it is a marginal issue. The essence of the problem concerns antisemitic remarks by current members of the party, some of whom have belonged to it for years.

It is important to note that there have been significant reactions against antisemitism in Labour, and its flawed handling of the problem, from within the party. The strongest internal force fighting antisemitism is the Jewish Labour Movement (JLM), which has been part of Labour for almost one hundred years. However, even the JLM used a smokescreening euphemism about Corbyn. It issued a statement to the effect that it has lost all confidence in Corbyn’s ability to kick racists out of the party. Corbyn is not, however, unable to do so. He in fact prefers to keep certain antisemites in the party. The JLM stopped short of making this clear.

Another interesting action against antisemitism within Labour was the decision by former PM Gordon Brown, who is not Jewish, to join the JLM out of solidarity as an affiliate member. So too did Mayor of London Sadiq Khan. Many senior Labour personalities have come out against antisemitism in the party, including former PM Tony Blair and Shadow Chancellor Ed Balls.

The Labour antisemitism scandal has aspects that go beyond the party. Labour is an observer in Socialist International (SI), an organization of social democratic, socialist, and Labour parties that brings together 147 political parties and organizations from around the globe. It claims to favor progressive policies in a fairer world.

The SI has a detailed ethical charter that includes a “total commitment to the values of equality and solidarity.” It respects the rights of minorities and individuals. By not acting against Labour, the SI leadership and its members make themselves complicit with that party’s institutional antisemitism. They cannot claim ignorance, as SI’s office is in London.

Research into antisemitism is very much a work in progress. As the mainstream media continue to take an interest in antisemitism developments in the Labour party, many more insights should come to light.

Labour party leader is forcing Jews to consider leaving England
By Avi Abelow -  September 4, 2018 10461 0
This is not a joke. The big conversation in Jewish homes in Britain today is whether they will stay or leave if Corbyn becomes Prime Minister.  As of now, he has not been elected Prime Minister.  But everyone knows that his chances of winning the next elections are great. That might be the catalyst for a mass exodus of Jews from Britain.

Is it Time for British Jews to Start Leaving Europe?
DAILY DOSE | With the rise of the far-right, increasing Muslim immigration in and leaders like Jeremy Corbyn in Europe, some Jews are beginning to feel the heat. Is it time for them to move to Israel or elsewhere? UK Israel political communications specialist David Mencer analyzes.

Antisemitism on the rise in Britain
The leadership of Jeremy Corbyn has made antisemitism into a mainstream position.  This is a real shocker.  Understandably, the Jews of Britain are quite concerned, if not downright scared. The first six months of 2018 saw the second largest number of anti-semitic attacks in the UK. The first six months of 2017 saw the largest number of attacks.

The Labour Party is Now “Institutionally Racist”
Liberal, secular, Muslim radio host Maajid Nawaz delivered a damning explanation about the Labour Party.  He believes that the Labour party is institutionally racist. This is a MUST SEE video to understand how Jews of Britain feel today.

It's beyond parody now.

Antisemitism must be stopped! Antisemitism
ANTISEMITISM EVERY DAY

Every day. Every day we are reminded that it is everywhere. The cancerous hatred that is antisemitism today is rapidly metastasizing around the world.
It has manifested in the images of swastikas on schools, the defilement of monuments to the Holocaust, the thin disguise as anti-Zionism - as if telling us that we have no right to self-determination as a nation makes it better.
The phenomenon of politicised modern antisemitism that lurks the halls of the UK Labour Party, as well as the ill-disguised venom of the Ilhan Omars, Linda Sarsours et al that are pervading American discourse.
Campaign-against-Antisemitism-labour-councillor-tweets
The soccer thugs chanting "Jews to the gas" and the repugnant images of the hook-nosed, money hungry Jews, the vile BDS campaigns against our state Israel, the institutionalised obsessive hatred in the UN and in NGOs who have forgotten about the oppressed of the world with their disproportionate focus on Israel.

As I write this, it is a matter of hours since news broke of yet another shooting in a synagogue in the USA. This time at the Poway Chabad in San Diego, killing one and wounding others. The attack occurred six months to the day of the deadly Pittsburgh synagogue shooting that claimed the lives of eleven. By now, there have been dozens more incidents that you have likely never heard of. Including attacks in Israel which are no less significant as expressions of violence and hate against the Jewish people.
Communities around the world are reeling because an attack on one is an attack on us all.
Modern antisemitism is visible in exclusionary snobbery and the trolls on social media who hide behind avatars and cowardice. Social media is fast becoming the playground of the hater evident in the number of posts and comments as the medium is abused by these perpetrators to state their intentions or publish their manifestos.
