The Holy Spirit-Keeping Power

If ye love me, keep my commandments.
If we truly love Christ our Saviour then keeping his Commandments will not be a burden to us, we will want to please him, follow him, be in his presence, always looking for an opportunity to serve him. We do all these things through the Holy Spirit the Comforter. Through his Ministry we believers can enjoy what GOD has always wanted from the beginning, to dwell among his people.
John 14:15-21 (KJV) If ye love me, keep my commandments. 16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; 17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. 18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. 19 Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also. 20 At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you. 21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

John 14:26 (KJV) But [the Comforter], which is [the Holy Ghost], whom the Father will send in my name, [he shall teach you all things], [and bring all things to your remembrance], whatsoever I have said unto you.
Some in Islam interpret the Comforter as that Prophet that Moses foretold, they say that Prophet was Mohammed, but that is a lie, and this verse proves it, it is quite clear that the Comforter is the Holy Spirit.
Let us look for a moment at his Commission for the Ministry on the Earth.
[whom the Father will send in my name].
If anyone need’s scriptural proof for the Trinity here it is, the father sends the Holy Spirit in the name of the Son.
[will send in my name], means by my authority, in other words the Spirit will not speak of himself, only of Christ.
[he shall teach you all things]
What exactly will the Spirit teach us? Things that you will not learn in a Bible College or from a Theology Book, it’s the deep things of GOD, these cannot be taught by any Man, these you receive from the Spirit after long contemplation in prayer and the presence of God.
1 Corinthians 2:10-11 (KJV) But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for [the Spirit searcheth all things], yea, [the deep things of God]. 11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.
I read the Bible from cover to cover before I was Saved, it meant absolutely nothing to me, I have read the Bible since I have been saved, it means absolutely everything, the difference is the Holy Spirit. The carnal Mind simply has no understanding of the things of God, they are foolishness to him, that is because they are spiritually discerned, only the Spirit of GOD can give that spiritual understanding.
Now you can receive that from a Bible Teacher, I do not want to give the impression that there is only one way to receive truth, but good Bible teachers point you to the truth, so you may search it out for yourself. Bible teachers can teach you the things of God, but it is the Holy Spirit that teaches you the deep things of GOD.
[and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you]
The Holy Spirit has a mission to call to your remembrance the Word of Christ exactly when you need it, for every situation that calls for it, that would also mean that you would be ever attentive to his voice within you.
The filling of the Word of Christ in your heart and soul would give the Peace of God full reign in all our being, their are discernible signs.
Colossians 3:15-17 (KJV) And let [the peace of God rule in your hearts], to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. 16 [Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord]. 17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do [all in the name of the Lord Jesus], giving thanks to God and the Father by him.
The Holy Spirit is a vital part of our pilgrimage, we will not get through without HIM.


Three Witnesses.
Three Witnesses in Heaven.  Are ONE.
[For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one].
The Trinity. Each bear a testimony unto Mankind.
Three Witness in the Earth.  Agree In ONE.
[there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one].
1 The Testimony of the Holy Spirit.
2 The Witness of Baptism .
3 The Preaching of The Cross.
1 John 5:6-10 (KJV) This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth. 7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. 8 And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one. 9 If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son. 10 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.

John 15:26 (KJV) But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, [he shall testify of me]:
Here is another divine title of the Holy Spirit, [the Spirit of truth], this title links him with the testimony that he carries.
Please note the Sender is Christ, [whom I will send unto you from the Father].
[which proceedeth from the Father], or the place of the Father, the great Eternity, or from the Godhead. Please note the family relationship, it does not say [from GOD], it is from the Father for the Holy Spirit comes to those in the family of God.
[he shall testify of Me]
At the very heart of the Holy Spirit’s Ministry is the testimony of Christ, the Holy Spirit will never under any circumstances speak of himself, their are denominations who veer off unto error because they put an over emphasis  on the Holy Spirit which by its nature takes away the focus on Christ.
Christ must have the preeminence.
Colossians 1:15-19 (KJV) Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: 16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: 17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence. 19 For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;
I have been in Churches were they try to represent the Holy Spirit in Art, but the World cannot receive the Holy Spirit because he is invisible.
The Fire, the Dove, the Wind are not the Holy Spirit, they are just symbols.
It would be like saying Ulster is a Red Hand, Wales is a Dragon, Scotland a Thistle, England a Rose.
The Holy Spirit indwelling & controlling a Man to preach and teach Christ is at the heart of his Ministry, the Spirit is the source of Christian testimony and it’s sustainer. The Spirit produces in the believer the right word at the right time, what the Bible calls a Word in Season.
The believer testifies in weakness upheld by the Holy Spirit, the believer emboldened by an inner strength given by the Spirit preaches Christ, Peter is the example here, before the Coming of the Promise of the Spirit at the Feast of Pentecost Peter was a Christ denier and in fear of a little Maid, but when the day of Pentecost was fully come, he was brave & bold, preaching with Power sent down from Heaven.
The Holy Spirit made the difference.


They were all Filled with the Holy Ghost.

Acts 4:31 (KJV) And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and [they were all filled with the Holy Ghost], and they spake the word of God with boldness.
This is after the events of the day of Pentecost, this is another event in response to the disciples prayers. This teaches us that the Filling with the Holy Ghost is not a one time event.
Pentecost.
Acts 2:4 (KJV) And [they were all filled with the Holy Ghost], and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
This particular filling of the Holy Ghost on the feast of Pentecost was to enable the disciples to speak a foreign language to the many pilgrims from foreign lands, a language they had never learned, this was in some ways a reversal of Babel were the LORD confused the languages.
Acts 4:8 (KJV) Then Peter, [filled with the Holy Ghost], said unto them, Ye rulers of the people, and elders of Israel,
Here again we have Peter being personally filled with the Holy Ghost in order to give answer to the rulers of Israel after the healing of the impotent man at the gate called beautiful.
After the rulers let them go the disciples returned to their own company to hold a prayer meeting, they pray that the enemy might be confounded, and they pray for boldness to preach Christ.
Acts 4:23-29 (KJV) And being let go, they went to their own company, and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said unto them. 24 And when they heard that, they lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and said, Lord, thou art God, which hast made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all that in them is: 25 Who by the mouth of thy servant David hast said, Why did the heathen rage, and the people imagine vain things? 26 The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord, and against his Christ. 27 For of a truth against thy holy child Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together, 28 For to do whatsoever thy hand and thy counsel determined before to be done. 29 And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word,
We believe boldness is the central theme of this particular filling of the Holy Ghost.
And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together
This is another demonstration of the Power of GOD, similar to Pentecost.
and [they were all filled with the Holy Ghost], and they spake the word of God with boldness.
This was the answer to their prayer in detail.
Boldness.
The original Greek word translated [boldness] here, appears 32 times in the New Testament, in the King James Version it is translated by 9 different words, they appear thus,
Boldness, 9 times. Confidence, 6 times. Openly, 6 times. Plainly, 4 times. Boldly, 3 times. Bold, 1 time. Freely, 1 time. Plainness, 1 time. Preached, 1 time.
This gives us a good idea what this word truly means, and what we have to pray for when handling the Word of God.
We will choose one of these references to drive home our point, here Paul is praying that utterance may be given, that he might open his mouth boldly, and make known the mystery of the gospel.
Ephesians 6:19 (KJV) And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth [boldly], to make known the mystery of the gospel,
These three points will help us to day, the filling of the Holy Ghost comes by prayer, to enable those who speak the Word of God, to speak with confidence & great plainess of speech, and to make known the secrets of the gospel, because in this day and age we are afraid the gospel and its claims are a complete mystery to the general population.
We pray God fill us with the Holy Ghost power to speak plainly and with boldness to make known the gospel of Christ, to a world of sinners lost and ruined by the fall.
To preach Christ there must be plainness of speech that no one is left in any doubt that Christ alone is Saviour, and that the way of the Cross leads home.
There are many types of boldness in the world, but the boldness that comes from God can only come by the filling of the Holy Ghost.
