Actor Christian Bale thanked Satan last night when he accepted the Golden Globe award for best actor in a musical or comedy for his role as former Vice President Dick Cheney in the film, “Vice.”
During his acceptance speech, Bale said, “Thank you to Satan for giving me inspiration on how to play this role.”

Before thanking Satan, Bale took a shot at Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), calling both the senator and Cheney “charisma-free assh***s.”

The actor said that “Vice” director and writer Adam McKay said “‘I’ve got to find somebody who can be absolutely charisma-free and reviled by everybody.’ And he went, ‘Ah it’s got to be Bale in it.’ Thank you, and for all the competition, I will be cornering the market on charisma-free assholes.”

“What do you think, Mitch McConnell next? That would be good,” continued the actor.
The Church of Satan responded to Bale’s comments last night, writing on Twitter, “To us, Satan is a symbol of pride, liberty and individualism, and it serves as an external metaphorical projection of our highest personal potential. As Mr. Bale’s own talent and skill won him the award, this is fitting. Hail Christian! Hail Satan!”

According to Fox News, Bale previously expressed admiration for the former vice president.
Fox Reports:
Bale previously spoke to Fox News about playing Cheney where he expressed his admiration for the former George W. Bush administration member, but never previously spoke about the Republican Majority Leader.
“He was a wonderful family man — he’s a great dad, he’s an avid reader, he has a brain like a vice and he constantly reads history,” Bale told Fox News of Cheney at the premiere of “Vice” on Dec. 11 in Beverly Hills, Calif. ”He was very laid-back. He would have been very happy to be a lineman in Wyoming if he hadn’t met Lynne, who said to him, ‘No, that doesn’t cut it. You need some ambition.’ What would have been if they hadn’t met?”
