After taking avandia and avandamet for 3 years to control my blood
sugar, I decided to try some herbal things ALONG WITH MY PREscriptION
MEDICATIONS. More importantly this was suggested and approved of by a
doctor who believes in alternative medicine.


I started out with chromium which was lowering my blood sugar, but not
enough. This could have been because I wasn't taking enough. I
started out taking 1 or 2 of them a day... maybe. But after the
doctor's suggestion, I started taking chromium RELIGIOUSLY. Chromium
comes in pills of 200, 400 or 500 micrograms so I started taking 1,000
to 1,500 micrograms daily (divided up between morning and evening).
This brought about measurable results, but still not good enough for
my doctor. She felt that my blood sugar could be lowered even more.


I also started using stevia which is an herbal sweetener that unlike
aspartame (Equal and Sweet and Low (R), regulates your blood sugar.

Then I went out and bought an herb for diabetes called Gymnema
Sylvestre. The bottle says take one(1) 400 g capsule up to SIX TIMES
DAILY. That's a little hectic for me, so I take 3 in the morning and 3
in the evening. The gymnema sylvestre and the chromium together
produce excellent results..... completely and far beyond my
expectations.


I am already at the lowest dosage of avandia that they can give me so
if my blood sugar stays under 100 for the rest of the year, I can be
taken off the medication.


I would recommend that a person at least do the research on herbal
solutions before dismissing it all as hogwash. Find you a doctor that
believes in alternative medicine. They are out there. They will work
with you to find what works..... whatever it is. According to my own
doctor, prescription drugs have a Band-Aid effect, treating the
symptom and not the problem. So the problem is always there.
