Re: KEITH NOTES FROM NANJING
PHILIPPIANS CHAPTER 4
2 I beseech Euodias, and beseech Syntyche, that they be of the same mind in the Lord.
EASILY OFFENDED AND SO TOUCHY
There was a famous TV programme in the UK several years ago about a couple of old ladies who travelled the country cooking, and traveling around to locations in an old motor cycle and sidecar. They were both very different, one spoke with a posh southern accent and the other with a Scottish accent. They got on well and cooked up delicious food.
Now I don't know what these two ladies were like in the Philippian church, but they couldn't of travelled around like the ladies above, because they had a problem with each other. Now we have no idea if this was over some point of doctrine, personal ethics or whatever, but they had a real problem.
Paul has to address these two ladies and to urge them in strong language to be reconciled to each other. Remember what happened when an epistle from Paul was delivered to the church, it was read out to the whole church.
These two ladies would have their dispute laid out in front of the whole church. Note that Paul urges each one individually to be reconciled to each other.
Jesus says if we have a dispute with one of our brothers and sisters, we should leave our offering at the altar and go and be reconciled to that brother or sister.
In our churches today, there are many sisters and brothers who are easily offended and so touchy. How many believers are now outside of the church, because someone has said something they shouldn't? If you know that you have hurt someone who is now outside the church, then go and be reconciled to that person.
I hope none of us are like these two believers; surely not!
It's time to stop being easily offended and so touchy. It's time to be reconciled to each other in love. If we have offended anyone, we need to go and find that brother and sister and be reconciled.
If you are the hurt party, then you need to forgive that person and pray that God would take away the hurt.
God bless you

PSALM 29
9 The voice of the Lord maketh the hinds to calve, and discovereth the forests: and in his temple doth every one speak of his glory.
RIGHT SPEAKING IN THE HOUSE OF GOD
I want to concentrate on the second part of this verse.
God's temple or God's house is sacred, and indeed we need to careful when we come into God's house.
Let me ask you and also me, this question?
Do we speak of God's glory in God's temple?
How often do we go into God's house and speak of anything other than His glory. We talk about the weather, we talk about sports, we talk about fashion.
When I go into "church," sometimes I talk to my friends and that is good, but we need to get our priorities right, when we go into the house of God.
Let us give God glory everyday, everywhere and especially in His house, because Biblically, WE are His house!
God bless you
Keith

Re: KEITH NOTES FROM NANJING
JOB 6
30 Is there iniquity in my tongue? cannot my taste discern perverse things?
TASTING YOUR TONGUE
Job asks two very probing and potent questions, we all need to answer!
Iniquity is a lifestyle of sin.
He asks the question, is speaking curses and swearing a way of life? If it is, then it is not the right way for the Christian and they should repent. In many passages in both the OT and NT, such as Proverbs 15, James 3 and Ephesians 4, we are taught that if the tongue is out of control, then the person using the tongue is also out of control. I know my tongue gets me into the biggest trouble, and on occasion, I wish it wasn't there.
Second, he asks, if his taste buds can discern the things he is speaking? Our taste buds can taste various things; some can taste sweet things, and some sour. Likewise our spiritual taste buds should be able to taste anything that is perverse and opposite to the good things of God. But as you get older... like me, your taste buds lose their ability to decipher flavours, and likewise we sometimes lose our spiritual taste buds.
We need to ask these questions to ourselves and to keep our tongues with a bridle, because it says in James that the tongue is a world of iniquity and an unruly evil: James 3:6, 8.
Please ask these questions every day... what is your answer?

DEUTERONOMY 4
39 Know therefore this day, and consider it in
thine heart, that the Lord he is God in heaven
above, and upon the earth beneath: there is none else.
NO ONE ELSE IS LIKE YOU O LORD
All through Scripture there are many verses,
that virtually say the same thing.
There is nothing that comes even close to the Lord.
He is above everything. It says later that His
thoughts are not our thoughts.
The Lord is on a level that is ten trillion times above us.
You know we should consider this in our heart,
because when we truly think on this, we will
just be lost in wonder and amazement.
How can the Lord who is so mighty and so glorious in
majesty have any interest in me? For the Lord to love me,
is completely mind blowing.
The Lord is so totally awesome; He is so wonderful..
and yes He loves me and He loves you. The One who is
like no other loves you like no one else can.
Ponder this in your heart... and let it sink deep into your spirit.
Oh one day, we will spend eternity in His presence... with joy beyond words!
God bless you

Re: KEITH NOTES FROM NANJING
WHY THE CROSS?
为什么是十字架?
All the Bible’s teaching points to the death of Jesus. Neither his perfect life nor his marvellous teaching nor his powerful miracles are the focus of the Bible’s message. These are all important, but above all else Jesus came into the world to die. What makes his death so important? The answer is that he died as a Substitute, a Sin bearer and a Saviour.
Jesus the Substitute. This demonstrates the love of God. Sinners are guilty, lost and helpless in the face of God’s holy law, which demands punishment for every sin. How can they possibly escape God’s righteous wrath? The Bible’s answer is this: God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8) As part of an amazing rescue plan God the Son volunteered to take the place of sinners and bear the just penalty for their sin. The sinless Son of God willingly suffered and died for them, the righteous for the unrighteous.. (1 Peter 3:18)
Jesus the Sin bearer. This demonstrates the holiness of God. There was nothing ‘faked’ about Christ’s death. The penalty for the sins of others was paid in full by the death of God’s sinless Son. As he hung on the cross he cried out, ‘My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?’ (Mark 15:34) At that terrible moment God the Father turned his back on his beloved Son, who then endured the penalty of separation from God. Notice how this shows God’s perfect holiness. All sin, every sin, must be punished — and when Jesus took the place of sinners he became as accountable for their sins as if he had been responsible for them. The one man who lived a perfect life suffered the double death penalty of the guilty.
Jesus the Savior. This demonstrates the power of God. Three days after his death, Christ was declared with power to be the Son of God by his resurrection from the dead. (Romans 1:4) He gave many convincing proofs that he was alive and he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him. (Acts 1:3; Romans 6:9) In raising Christ from the dead, God powerfully demonstrated that he accepted his death in the place of sinners as the full and perfect payment of sin’s penalty and as the basis on which he can offer a full and free pardon to those who would otherwise be doomed to spend eternity in hell.
But how does all this apply to you? How can you get right with God? How can Christ become your Saviour?
但是这一切如何适用于你呢?你怎样正确认识上帝?基督怎样成为你的救主?
HOW CAN I BE SAVED?
我如何得救?
Having read this far, do you genuinely want to be saved? Do you want to get right with God — whatever the cost or consequences? If not, you have not grasped the importance of the pages you have read. You should therefore read them again slowly and carefully, asking God to show you the truth. If God has shown you your need, and you do want to be saved, then you must turn to God in repentance and have faith in our Lord Jesus. (Acts 20:21)
You must repent. This means a complete change regarding sin. There must be a change of mind. You must admit that you are a sinner, a rebel against a holy and loving God. There must be a change of heart — genuine sorrow and shame at the vileness: and filthiness of your sin. Then you must be willing to forsake it and change the direction of your life. God challenges people to prove their repentance by their deeds. (Acts 26:20) You must do this. God will not forgive any sin you are not willing to forsake. To repent is to go in a new direction, seeking wholeheartedly to live in a way that pleases God.
You must have faith in Christ. First of all, this means accepting that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God (Matthew 16:16) and that Christ died for the ungodly. (Romans 5:6) Secondly, it means believing that in the power and love Christ is able and willing to save you. Thirdly it means actually putting your trust in Christ, relying upon him and him alone to make you right with God. Your proud, sinful nature will fight against abandoning trust in your own ‘goodness’ or religion. Yet you have no alternative. You must stop trusting in anything else and trust only in Christ, who is able to save completely those who come to God through him. (Hebrews 7:25)
If God has shown you your need, and given you this desire, then turn to Christ — and do it now! Ideally, pray aloud to him; this may help you to be clear about what you are doing. Confess that you are a guilty, lost and helpless sinner, and with all your heart ask Christ to save you, and to take his rightful place as the Lord of your life, enabling you to turn from sin and to live for him.
The Bible says that if you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved and that everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. (Romans 10:9; Romans 10:13) If you truly trust Christ as your Saviour and acknowledge him as your Lord, you can claim these promises as your own..

~THE POWER OF HIS BLOOD~ The blood shall never lose its powerwhich Jesus shed on CalvaryThe precious crimson blood that flowed, still has power to redeem and set souls free. The thief on the cross desired mercyJesus said he would be in paradise with him that day,Our Lord still forgives the vilest sinner,if they will look to Him, repent and pray. The power of His bloodreaches to the highest mountainIt flows to the lowest valley, because His blood is an endless saving fountain. The delight which God has in His redeemed people!
"I will rejoice over them to do them good." Jeremiah 32:41
"As a bridegroom rejoices over his bride, so your God will rejoice over you!" Isaiah 62:5
The LORD your God is with you, He is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you . . . He will rejoice over you with singing!" Zephaniah 3:17
How heart-cheering to the believer, is the delight which God has in His redeemed people!
We cannot see any reason in ourselves why the Lord should take pleasure in us. We cannot take delight in ourselves, for we often have to groan, being burdened; conscious of our sinfulness, and deploring our unfaithfulness.
And we fear that God' s people cannot take much delight in us, for they must perceive so much of our imperfections and our follies, that they may rather lament our infirmities, than admire our graces.
But we love to dwell upon this transcendent truth, this glorious mystery--that as the bridegroom rejoices over his bride, so does the Lord rejoice over us!
We do not read anywhere that God delights in the cloud-capped mountains, or the sparkling stars--but we do read that His delights are with the sons of men.
We do not find it written that even angels give His soul delight; nor does He say, concerning cherubim and seraphim, "You shall be called Hephzibah, for the Lord delightsin you"; but He does say all that to poor fallen creatures like ourselves, debased and depraved by sin--but redeemed and saved by His grace.
In what strong language He expresses His delight in His people! Who could have conceived of the eternal One as bursting forth into a song? Yet it is written, "He will take great delight in you . . . He will rejoice over you with singing! "
As He looked upon the world He had made, He said, "It is very good". But when He beheld those who are the purchase of Jesus' blood, His own chosen ones, it seemed as if the great heart of the Infinite could restrain itself no longer--but overflowed in divine exclamations of joy.
Should not we utter our grateful response to such a marvelous declaration of His love, and sing, "I will rejoice in the Lord, I will rejoice in the God of my salvation!"

The Word: Christ Jesus John 1:1-5
Text: “In the beginning was the Word (capital W), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
John 1:1.
“Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus; Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God; but made Himself of no reputation, and took upon Him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men…”
Philippians 2:5-7.
Good morning, serious Christian! Your faith and trust in Christ Jesus, the Son of God, is the most serious aspect of your being. Therefore, you seek to examine, in a most serious manner, the beliefs you both hold and proclaim - that others might also receive faith from your ministry, and precious souls might find Salvation in Christ and through His Atonement Sacrifice at Calvary’s Cross. Praise God for serious-minded Christians!
“For whosoever shall call on the Name of the Lord shall be saved. How then shall they call on Him in Whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of Whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?” (Romans 10:13-14)
The Apostle John was also a serious Christian - an eye-witness of the risen Lord - one inspired by the Spirit of God within to record for our benefit an account of the Gospel message of Salvation. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
“John was the son of Zebedee (Matthew 4:21) and Salome (Matthew 27:56). Salome seems to have been the sister of Jesus’mother (John 19:25). If this was so, then John was the cousin of Jesus, which may partially account for his being Christ’s most intimate apostle.
“John was a fisherman in Galilee. He had hired servants (Mark 1:16-20) and apparently owned a home in Jerusalem (John 19:27); therefore he was a man of some social standing and wealth. This explains why, in John 18:15-17, John is admitted into the high priest’s palace while Peter is denied entrance.
“Along with Peter and James, John became a member of the special inner circle of Jesus’ most beloved and most trusted disciples during the last half of our Lord’s ministry. These three alone accompanied Christ on some of His most important occasions:
1. The Transfiguration (Matthew 17:1-8);
2. Gethsemane (Mark 14:32-41).
3. Only John followed Christ to the Cross (John 19:26).” (SalemKirban Reference Bible p.1315.)
John’s Gospel account is believed to have been written by John, possibly at Ephesus, between 85-90A.D. It was written as a general record to Christians everywhere and seeks to set forth clearly the fact that Christ is indeed the Son of God and the only Saviour of sinner’s souls.. (Acts 4:12)
Today’s selected reading sets forth the vital fact of Christ’s Eternal Son-ship; that Jesus Christ is, was, and always shall be, God incarnate; the Supernatural Creator God formed in a natural Body of flesh and bones - in order to be Sacrificed for sinful mankind upon a cruel Cross to bring us into God’s light from the darkness of our sin, guilt, and shame.
“Wherefore when He (Christ Jesus) cometh into the world, He saith, Sacrifice and offering (of bulls and goats) Thou wouldest not, but a Body hast Thou (God the Father) prepared for Me (God the Son, Christ Jesus)…I come to do Thy will, O God…” (Hebrews 10:5-10)
“Him (Christ Jesus, the Word made flesh) being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have Crucified and slain; Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death; because it was not possible that He should be holden of it.” Hallelujah! What a Saviour! Up from the grave He arose! (Acts 2:22-24)
How could mere death ever have power over the sinless Son of God; God the Son; Who was, is, and ever shall be Life and Light incarnate? The apostle John sets forth this Scriptural truth at the very commencement of his Gospel (Good news) account. How appropriate, since Christ Jesus, the Word of God, is the Creator Lord of all life, ‘…all things…’ have been made by Him, ’…and without Him was not anything made that was made.’ (V. 3)
“And He (the risen Christ Jesus) was clothed with a vesture dipped in Blood; and His Name is called The Word of God.” (Revelation 19:13)
Let us take a journey in John’s Gospel, examine afresh John’s Spirit-inspired truths, and know the full assurance of our souls’Salvation in Christ and in Him alone. May the Lord bless us as we study His written Word. Amen.
Thought: Eternal Salvation begins and ends with The Word of God.

No Man to Help! John 5:1-13
Text: “The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool; but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me.”
John 5:7.
“I looked on my right hand, and beheld, but there was no man that would know me; refuge failed me; no man cared for my soul.”
Psalm 142:4.
Good morning, caring Christian! In the midst of life’s troubled waters, you are ever ready to lend a hand to those in greatest need; you are ever there to uphold the afflicted in prayer; you are always most willing to share vital resources as your Lord leads and directs you so to do. Praise God for such genuinely caring Christians! Christ Jesus is glorified in you, daily.
“Ye are the salt of the earth…ye are the light of the world.. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid…Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in Heaven.” (Matthew 5:13-16)
Bethesda: “Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market (gate) a pool, which is called Bethesda, having five porches.” (John 5:2)
“Bethesda was a spring-fed pool, surrounded by five porches, where Jesus healed the man who had been sick for thirty-eight years. The only record indicating its location places it near the Sheep Gate. Apparently this carries the inference that it was in the northeast part of the city, for according to Josephus and various ancient authorities, the principal sheep market in Jerusalemwas located north of the temple area just as, at the present time, the Arab sheep market is located outside Herod’s Gate. Also, the Medaba map (fifth century) located the pool in this section which is known as Bezetha.
“In 1888 repairs were being made on St Anne’s Church, in this northeast section of Jerusalem, when what seemed to be a large reservoir was located. Professor Conrad Schick, who was consulted, organized an expedition and uncovered the entire area down to the Roman level, revealing two large pools with five porches and numerous fragments of columns and capitals - all in Roman style, but evidently somewhat later than the time of Christ. There were steep, winding steps leading down to the pools, and on a prominent wall of one of the porches was a faded fresco of an angel in the act of troubling the waters. Here was Bethesda, according to the tradition of the early church.” (Thompson Chain Reference Bible, Archaeological Supplement 4343, page 1730)
The Bible - Reliable History: “The Bible is the only record we have of the life and teachings of Jesus. And if we are to take Jesus seriously then the Bible must be proved accurate. The New Testament is not a myth - myths happen once upon a time in a faraway place. The New Testament is written in a space-time dimension. The context gives specific times, persons, events, and places which offer themselves for verification. Contemporary documents with the New Testament verify the accuracy in regard to such statements as culture, politics, morals, and religion of that particular period of time. Also archaeology has added its findings to corroborate the accuracy of the New Testament. The books of the New Testament were written and circulated during the very time the people lived, while they were able to deny what was written.
“Examples: Bible Reference:
The Birth of Christ (Matthew 2:1; Luke 2:1-7);
Specific Names and Times: (Luke 3:1-3)
Luke wrote down the facts in order: (Luke 1:1-4).
“If the New Testament were a collection of secular writings, their authenticity would generally be regarded as beyond all doubt.” F.F. Bruce compares the manuscript evidence of the New Testament with the evidence for the writings of the same period.
“Caesar’s Gallic Wars (58-50BC) - 10 manuscripts;
Roman History of Livy (59BC-17AD) - 20 manuscripts;
History of Herodotus (480-425BC) - 8 manuscripts;
History of Tacitus and Annals of Tacitus (100AD) - 2 manuscripts;
New Testament - 4000 manuscripts.
“The New Testament has 100 times more manuscript support than all the others combined. Who are parking their brains - the believers or the unbelievers?
“About Jesus we have to write not theology but history.” H.G. Wells.
Will Durant - one of America’s foremost historians - “His source material for the entire chapters on Jesus and the apostles was the New Testament.”
Sir William Ramsey of Great Britain started out as an unbeliever and changed his mind because of his archaeological research.”
“Think About It: Why would the Bible writers give so much specific details, if what they said was not true?
“Archaeology supports the New Testament. Ancient writers support the New Testament. People have been trying to disprove the New Testament for centuries without success. If the New Testament is reliable history - what are the implications?” (Art Matthew, Londonderry, The Bible - Reliable History)
The angel troubled the waters of the pool at Bethesda, but God’s truth troubles the waters of human unbelief, and brings Eternal healing to those who allow themselves to be helped into knowledge of the Saviour of sinners‘ souls, the Living Lord Jesus Christ. (Acts 4:12) (Luke 19:10)

What a joy it is to share with you, the Lord has given me this particular subject and has put this burden on my heart.
HALLOWEEN
Here are some more ideas, for you to oppose this evil.
You can pray binding the power of Satan.. and get your church and house group together to do the same. Have a prayer meeting at your church on the date of Halloween or open up your home for a prayer meeting
You can prayer walk you area.. applying the blood of Jesus to every house.
You can give out gospels to every child who comes to your house Trick or Treating.
You can speak out against the evils of halloween.. we need people who will stand up and say "THUS SAYS THE LORD."
Please share this devotion with all your friends and groups esp place on Facebook.
Thanks and God bless

NOONDAY DEVOTION BY KEITH
REPROVE AND CHALLENGE ALL EVIL WAYS
11 Take no part in and have no fellowship with the fruitless deeds and enterprises of darkness, but instead [let your lives be so in contrast as to] [d]expose and reprove and convict them.
12 For it is a shame even to speak of or mention the things that [such people] practice in secret.
13 But when anything is exposed and reproved by the light, it is made visible and clear; and where everything is visible andclear there is light.
14 Therefore He says, Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall shine (make day dawn) upon you and give you light.
15 Look carefully then how you walk! Live purposefully and worthily and accurately, not as the unwise and witless, but as wise (sensible, intelligent people),
16 Making the very most of the time [buying up each opportunity], because the days are evil.
The Lord has laid this devotion on my heart. I feel very passionately about the evils of Halloween.
Now I know many believers think I am going over the top on this issue, so let's start with these verses in Galatians 5
19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20 idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21 envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
Do you notice anything believer?.. yes Witchcraft is included in this list.
Jesus talks about things like adultery and murder in the Sermon on the Mount; He says that if you do them in your heart, you are as guilty as those who actually do them.. what about participating in Halloween?
Well if you let you children dress up in ghostly costumes, or place carved pumpkins outside your house.. you are involving yourself in this evil practice, when God clearly tells you in his word to have nothing to do with it.. forgive me, I am a bit slow.. but even a slow person like realises that this for what it is.. DISOBEDIENCE.
What does the first part of Ephesians 5:11 say.. HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THE WORKS OF DARKNESS.. IT MEANS EXACTLY WHAT IT SAYS!!!.
The Ephesian believers had a great bonfire and burnt all their pagan books.. they took these verses to heart, more to the point, they obeyed them.
Believers want God to be their friend.. well He is.. If you obey Him. He demands that you burn all this Halloween stuff and that you do not participate in this godless and pagan holiday.
If Christians acted like the Ephesian believers and burned all this rubbish, we would have bonfires stretching all across America and other countries. I estimate and I am just guessing here that Evangelical Bible believing Christians spend up to 100 million in many currencies on Halloween food, costumes etc. How much would world missions benefit if that money was given to support the work of the church overseas? How many missionaries are struggling for support and the church wastes money on this rubbish?
Now I won't be the only person teaching or preaching this in the run up to Halloween, but some people do not get it.. it is TIME TO OBEY THE LORD AND TO HAVE NO FELLOWSHIP WITH THE WORKS OF DARKNESS.
This so called holiday is in the realm of the devil.. he is our enemy.. it seems some Christians have crossed over to the enemy's side for the time leading up to Halloween.
IF you go on any social media site such as yahoo groups and click on the satanic groups, their groups have up to 20,000 members, my brothers and sisters, the devil is not playing games, we laugh at Nero and say he fiddled whilst Rome burnt, but in joining in with the Halloween fun, we play with fire. We are not to fiddle about with these things, we are to rebuke this evil. The first settlers that came to America would be shocked to see this across the country, this was not brought by them.
You know Christians think, they are on some kind of party ride, the devil is deadly serious, there are thousand of groups all across the world, who will pray for the destruction of Christianity on this time, this is the height of evil and must be opposed.
It is time to tell you kids not to participate in this, to forbid them.. yes to be strict, what peer group pressure is placed on them. It is time for you pastors to preach against this evil, it is time for the church to pray against this evil, to not go to stores who sell this stuff.
It is time to burn the stuff you have about Halloween and go to the Lord in Repentance.. are you prepared to burn all the Halloween stuff you have in your house?
THE DEVIL IS NOT PLAYING GAMES, WHY ARE WE?
IF you join in with this evil, then you are standing with the devil's side, what was Aaron and the Children of Israel doing, when they worshipped the Golden Calf, bowing down to an idol. What are we doing when we have pumpkins around the porch? Oh they look pretty, the Lord doesn't think so?
WHO IS ON THE LORD'S SIDE?
谁站在上帝一边?
You refuse and join in with this stuff, then you are in rebellion against God and what is rebellion, it is like the sin of witchcraft
In 1 Samuel 15, the Lord says that rebellion, which is a refusal to do what you are told and to go your own way, is like this
22 And Samuel said, Hath the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams. 23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry.
In verse 16 of Ephesians 5, we are told to redeem the time, literally to buy it back. If you are involving yourself in this practice.. stop and turn in repentance.
There are millions of christians who say nothing and are silent, it is time to rise up like a mighty army of prayer warriors. Prayer chains against this evil should run in every church, every city, every village and every christian household. We need to stand against this evil and to come to Lord in repentance asking his forgiveness and pleading for revival, so that this evil will be banished forever.
If you refuse to obey the Lord and participate in Halloween, then you are guilty of witchcraft, and as Galatians 5 says.. no one who does such a thing will enter the Kingdom of God.. A very sobering thought.. Amen
HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS PAGAN TIME.
I am going to let my dear friend Pastor Michael say a few words about this, he is far more qualified, over to you Brother...
Hello everyone, and Halloween or All Hallows Eve, does have its roots in paganism. While some do not set out to be a part of paganism when they let their children "trick or treat," we do need to understand where this "holiday" came from. While the practices were and are different, depending on which country you came from, it is based on the belief in ghosts, and paganism over 2000 years ago. This article gives a good summary:
What are the origins of Halloween?

The question arises about a Christian's participation in this day. Keith has stated his conviction above, and we should be careful. Even if we don't celebrate it, there is an opportunity, at least in America, to use this to share the Gospel. At no other time does someone have many kids, and adults, coming to the door, asking for candy! What a great opportunity to give out tracks and a treat! We overcome the darkness by bringing the light and there is nothing brighter than the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the only way of salvation!

Embrace the Moment
By Answers2PrayerSubscribeUnsubscribeDevotionalsContact us When events in your life go sideways, what type of physical reaction do you have? Perhaps you laugh, cry, or maybe even both at the same time?! Or possibly a quick burst of anger is your thing, followed by tossing your smart phone across the room? Whatever your inkling, have you ever thought about breathing deep, embracing the moment and thanking God in all things? Philippians 4:6 says, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God." (NIV)
I recently celebrated my birthday, and yes I'd be happier if mirrors had never been invented! But with life experience and too many candles on my birthday cake, I'm learning to look beyond circumstances and find a way to give thanks to God for life and breath; to be able to smile more and frown less when things don't go according to plan.
My wife and I often have trouble-plagued date nights. Things like a movie stopping halfway through because the projector popped a widget, car breakdowns, or the time my beloved suffered an allergic reaction from something and was taken to the hospital by ambulance with me frantically following behind! You get the idea...
For my birthday this year we went out for dinner. Or so we tried. Our first choice of restaurants was closed. At the second we sat relaxing with two mugs of hot coffee, ordered our food and wham, the fire alarms clamored to life! We had to leave, but still payed seven dollars for the coffee we hardly drank. Third restaurant--yes we're suckers for punishment!--our food arrives just as my wife's phone goes off, and then mine (yes I know, no phones at the dinner table)! When my call ends and I finally get to eat, my wife is forking in the last few bites of her chicken salad. I look at her with my well-practiced apologetic expression, and not wanting her to wait any longer, I doggie-bag my food and we go home. I realize this is one of life's simpler calamities. Still, we chose to laugh and thank God for the blessing of being together despite another flawed date night.
My friend, I know that life can be far more complicated than fire alarms or wasted coffee. I understand when difficult experiences with stress, worry and fear leave us drained. But together we can learn to embrace those moments, to endure when troubles bubble up. Psalms 119:114 offers hope and says, "You are my refuge and my shield; I have put my hope in your word." (NIV)
Our ability to endure life's hiccups is easier with Jesus; easier because we have the promise that God causes everything to work together for our good according to His purpose (See Romans 8:28). We are already ransomed! So next time the storms of life weigh you down, turn to the Lord. He is completely reliable, totally dependable and never changing in his love for us.
Then go embrace those moments that might otherwise cause you to grimace and atomize your phone!

Re: KEITH NOTES FROM NANJING
1 TIMOTHY 1
12 I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has granted me [the needed] strength and made me able for this, because He considered me faithful and trustworthy, putting me into service [for this ministry], 13 even though I was formerly a blasphemer [of our Lord] and a persecutor [of His church] and a shameful and outrageous and violent aggressor [toward believers]. Yet I was shown mercy because I acted out of ignorance in unbelief. 14 The grace of our Lord [His amazing, unmerited favor and blessing] flowed out in superabundance [for me, together] with the faith and love which are [realized] in Christ Jesus.
ABUNDANT FAVOR
Paul says in verse 15, that he is the chief of sinners. In several passages throughout the NT, he tells us why he was, not just here, but also in Philippians 3.
He previously abused and persecuted believers. He was the John Newton of his day, who could say 1700 years afterwards:
Amazing grace! How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found;
Was blind, but now I see.
Like John Newton, Paul does not hide his sin from us; he states that he was a shameful and violent aggressor towards the church, but and here is the key word.. have you got it: YET!
He was shown mercy. God could and should have sent Paul and the rest of us to hell.. but YET.. we have obtained mercy; mercy is God not giving us what do rightfully deserve, amen. Indeed He gave what we deserved to His Son, we deserved his wrath, but so that we could be redeemed. Jesus paid the price and took the full anger of God upon His Son.
Paul's eyes were blinded by unbelief and hatred, as he said; he had a deep zeal for God, but it was completely misplaced.
I am in completely in awe of verse 14, grace you remember is receiving what you don't deserve. It is totally unmerited; we did not do anything to earn it, but we receive it and here's the best thing.. not just in abundance but in SUPERABUNDANCE.
Remember what Grace is from this little analogy
G... God's
R... Riches
A... At
C... Christ's
E... Expense
My favourite hymn is Amazing Grace.. probably is Paul's too.
Has the superabundant grace of God touched your life?
God bless you

SRI LANKA: Assaults on Christians Seeking to Worship

On the morning of September 21st, six Christians were on their way to a worship service at the Berea Prayer House in Kalkudah when they were accosted by ten villagers. After they had been beaten with sticks, the believers were taken to area hospitals for treatment.
Two of the ten people responsible for the attack were arrested for assault and mandated to appear in court the following day. Prior to this attack, the pastor and members of the church have faced continuous harassment from a group of hostile individuals in the community.
Opposition against church meetings is relatively common in areas of Sri Lanka. On September 14th, a large mob gathered at the Zion Revival Church in the village of Iddagolla. Included among this opposing group were six Buddhist monks and several police officers. While uttering threats of arrest, the officer-in-charge demanded that the pastor stop all religious activities in Iddagolla and never enter the village again. Why Should I Not Commit Suicide? Our hearts go out to those who have thoughts of ending their own lives through suicide. If that is you right now, it may speak of many emotions, such as feelings of hopelessness and despair. You may feel like you are in the deepest pit, and you doubt there is any hope of things getting better. No one seems to care or understand where you are coming from. Life just is not worth living...or is it? If you will take a few moments to consider letting God truly be God in your life right now, He will prove how big He really is, “for nothing is impossible with God” (Luke 1:37).
Perhaps scars from past hurts have resulted in an overwhelming sense of rejection or abandonment.
That may lead to self-pity, anger, bitterness, vengeful thoughts, or unhealthy fears that have caused problems in some of your most important relationships.
Why should you not commit suicide? Friend, no matter how bad things are in your life, there is a God of love who is waiting for you to let Him guide you through your tunnel of despair and out into His marvelous light.
He is your sure hope. His name is Jesus.
This Jesus, the sinless Son of God, identifies with you in your time of rejection and humiliation.
The prophet Isaiah wrote of Him in Isaiah 53:2-6, describing Him as a man who was “despised and rejected” by everyone. His life was full of sorrow and suffering.
But the sorrows He bore were not His own; they were ours. He was pierced, wounded, and crushed, all because of our sin. Because of His suffering, our lives can be redeemed and made whole. Friend,
Jesus Christ endured all this so that you might have all your sins forgiven.
Whatever weight of guilt you carry, know that He will forgive you if you humbly receive Him as your Savior. “...Call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you...” (Psalm 50:15).
Nothing you have ever done is too bad for Jesus to forgive.
Some of His choicest servants committed gross sins like murder (Moses) , murder and adultery (King David), and physical and emotional abuse (the apostle Paul).
Yet they found forgiveness and a new abundant life in the Lord.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!” (2 Corinthians 5:17). Why should you not commit suicide? Friend,
God stands ready to repair what is “broken,” namely, the life you have now, the life you want to end by suicide.
In Isaiah 61:1-3, the prophet wrote,
“The LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor.
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor…to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve…to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair.
Come to Jesus, and let Him restore your joy and usefulness as you trust Him to begin a new work in your life.
He promises to restore the joy you have lost and give you a new spirit to sustain you.
Your broken heart is precious to Him:
“The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise” (Psalm 51:12, 15-17).
If you are a Christian, God is always available to see you through you feeling of committing suicide.
What we who are believers need to do is surrender all we know of ourselves to all we know of God. We need to fully trust that He will help us through the worst of times if we will turn them over to Him and be willing to trust that He can.
If you are not a Christian will you accept the Lord as your Savior and Shepherd? He will guide your thoughts and steps—one day at a time—through His Word, the Bible.
“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
I will counsel you and watch over you” (Psalm 32:8). “He will be the sure foundation for your times, a rich store of salvation and wisdom and knowledge; the fear of the LORD is the key to this treasure” (Isaiah 33:6).
In Christ, you will still have struggles, but you will now have hope. He is “a friend who sticks closer than a brother” (Proverbs 18:24). May the grace of the Lord Jesus be with you in your hour of decision.
Is Faith In God A Crutch?
Oddly enough, no prominent atheist is recorded as having said, "Faith in God is a crutch." Although the sentiment is related, it is religion that is compared to a crutch, not faith in God.Richard Dawkins (an author) whose mission is to remove the influence of religion in science education and public policy, and eliminate the stigma that surrounds atheism and non-belief. He believes that religion is a crutch for those who are afraid of blinking out of existence after death. The science fiction author Robert Heinlein wrote that "religion is a crutch for people not strong enough to stand up to the unknown without help."Former Minnesota governor Jesse Ventura says that religion is a crutch for "weak- minded people who need strength in numbers."
Christians are not weak-minded, but they readily admit their spiritual weakness without Christ. The fact is that we all have a spiritual impediment called sin (Romans 3:23) “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” We all need Christ's power to overcome it. Admitting the fact is nothing to be ashamed of. No one makes fun of a handicapped man who uses a crutch to compensate for his physical disability. Neither should anyone ridicule a Christian whose faith compensates for his spiritual disability. There 39;s nothing wrong with a needy person seeking help.
To say that religion is a crutch is to say that we must stand on our own power, to see the world as a cold, empty place and deal with it accordingly. To the materialistic atheist, spurning religion includes the belief that death is merely ceasing to exist. Or, as Heinlein said, “going into the unknown.”A common view among atheistic sociologists is that fear of this "unknown" caused people to create myths of an overseeing, beneficent deity who carries out a beneficent plan for death. Atheists tend to think that, without this myth, most people would be so overwrought with the fear of death that they would be unable to function in life.
The idea of God as an imaginary coping mechanism began with Sigmund Freud. The famous neurologist and psychoanalyst was an atheist and could not accept the possibility that God might actually exist. He believed that the struggles of life and the lack of strong, loving father figures inspired the construction of an imaginary Father-God.This Father-God would provide for all the psychological needs of the deluded. The biggest struggle in human life is death, and later atheists latched onto the fear of death as the primary impetus for a make-believe story that made everything all right.
There are some problems with the theory. If the fear of death is truly universal and is the cause of all religion, then the selection of world religions isn't very satisfying. If humanity is so afraid of death that they have to come up with a fake belief system, why is religion so complex? A belief system destined to allay the fear of death should simply involve dying and arriving in paradise. Instead, nearly every belief system in the world somehow ties acts performed during life to rest in the afterlife. If death were the primary concern, getting to a favorable afterlife would probably be simpler.
This brings us to Ventura' s quote and another common sociological theory about religion: religion was developed to control and unify people with a list of rules, a hierarchy of authority, and explanations for mystical occurrences. Many secular sociologists claim religion was developed as a necessary stabilizing force in society. It 39;s true that religion provides community, family, and friendship that are often lacking in the modern world. The need to belong is a powerful force, and religion fills that need nicely. It' s conceivable that many people join religions not because they have objectively analyzed and agreed with all the tenets of the faith but because the traditions and rituals provide purpose and comfort. So, presumin g God does not exist, the offer of community could reasonably explain the existence of religion.
But "presuming God does not exist" is a completely improvable assumption. There is substantial proof that God exists. If He didn't exist, religion would indeed be silly. But if God does exist, or if there is a reasonable chance that He exists, it is reasonable to desire to treat Him appropriately.
The "religion is a crutch" argument attempts to explain away religion by insisting on a hypothetical circumstance without touching the heart of the issue. It is true that many people come to religion because they want an answer for death or a feeling of belonging. But the argument does nothing to refute the existence of God or the actual legitimacy of any religion. The claim that "religion is a crutch" is a defensive judgment of motives that completely ignores the discussion of truth. It is also a proud, condescending point of view.
Jesus said, "Blessed are the poor in spirit" (Matthew 5:3); that is, those who humbly acknowledge their spiritual bankruptcy will receive God's compensation. Paul admitted his spiritual inadequacy but had the confidence that God's" power is made perfect in weakness" (2 Corinthians 12:9).For the Christian, faith is not a crutch; it' s a necessary part of life.

“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
I will counsel you and watch over you” (Psalm 32:8).

"Timothy, my son, I am giving you this command in keeping with the prophecies once made about you, so that by recalling them you may fight the battle well, holding on to faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and so have suffered shipwreck with regard to the faith.Among them are Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I have handed over to Satan to be taught not to blaspheme." 1 Timothy 1:18-20.
The apostle Paul wanted his young charge Timothy to grasp the basics of keeping the faith.
So he wrote about two men who ignored their conscience at great peril.
Their example shows that without an understanding of what this gift from God is, we run the risk of capsizing our faith.
Many people mistakenly think of the conscience as God’s voice instead of God’s gift.
We were created with an “inner monitor” that acts as a moral compass for life; it points to a standard of right and wrong that can guide our decisions.
But the conscience, like everything else in us, is fallen and in need of redemption.
Depending on how it has been programmed, our conscience can nudge us in the wrong direction.
Paul himself is an illustration of this.
His formal education as a Pharisee had taught him that Christians were a threat to God and the Jewish faith.
His conscience had been programmed to see killing them as service to the Lord.
So he passionately hunted down believers without tripping an alarm on his moral compass.
Only after the risen Christ met him on the way to Damascus was his conscience transformed and his life altered.
Unless we let the Lord redeem us fully-
- our decisions can prove as destructive as if we ignored our “monitoring system” altogether.
By understanding the divine gift of conscience-
- we stand a better chance of staying on course and away from trouble.
What’s more, if we submit our conscience to the Holy Spirit-
- we will find safe harbour when storms threaten our faith or future.

UNREACHED PEOPLES
Although there are many Christians and many church groups, there are still many groups and peoples that are untouched by the gospel.
Please pray for:
The Malay people, who are dominated by the Banjar people. There is increasing interest in this people, and many ministries are seeking to reach them, but work is very slow and converts are few.
Muslims who come to Christ have to live as secret believers. Please pray for a move of the Spirit of God that would lead entire villages and especially families to Christ.
Many migrants flock from all over Indonesia to West Kalimantan to work in the booming oil industry. The Javanese churches are growing, but they have little or no vision for outreach. Please pray that the Christians would have a vision for the people around them.
The people of the interior live in isolated villages and the ministry of Missionary Aviation is so valuable. Please pray for the safety of this ministry.
These people are receptive and include the Sang, Bakumpai and Ampunang. Please pray for called workers to go them, as this is very difficult and dangerous work.
Indonesians of Chinese descent are harder to reach than in other parts of the country. Please pray that God would move in great power amongst them.

New Beginnings
“So he said to me, "This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: 'Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,' says the Lord Almighty. "What are you, O mighty mountain? Before Zerubbabel you will become level ground. Then he will bring out the capstone to shouts of 'God bless it! God bless it!'” Then the word of the LORD came to me: "The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this temple; his hands will also complete it. Then you will know that the Lord Almighty has sent me to you. "Who despises the day of small things? Men will rejoice when they see the plumb line in the hand of Zerubbabel…Zechariah 4:6-10a.”
Zechariah was one of the prophets associated with the building of the Second Temple in Jerusalem. King Darius of Persia had permitted the Israelites to return to their homeland, and was allowing them to worship as they pleased. Zerubbabel was an Israelite official charged with the Temple’s construction. But the Temple work was going slowly, and there was opposition both within the Israelite camp and from outside. So the Lord sent a message to both Zerubbabel and the people, reminding them that this project was His work, and encouraging them to stay the course. The whole endeavor of calling the Jews back to their homeland and re-establishing both the Temple and the community was not like the deliverance of the Exodus, where it took many miracles and much violence and loss of life to make it happen. In this case, God changed the hearts of those who held sway over the Jews, and then charged His people to rebuild the city themselves. Nonetheless, it was His work, and He surely would see it through to the finish: 'Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,' says the LORD Almighty.
Perhaps there is something you that you have been praying for, working for, that has made a humble beginning but hasn’t gotten far. Maybe it’s the salvation of a loved one, or a new business venture, or a much-needed ministry at your church that you’re involved with. You’re pretty sure the Lord has laid this thing on your heart, but the progress, if any, is s-l-o-o-o-w. Your loved one seems more receptive to the Gospel message, but still hasn’t accepted Jesus as Lord. It’s a great business model you’ve got, and the customers you do have seem pleased with the goods or services you provide, but there just aren’t very many of them. Everyone you talk to at church agrees that “we really need” the ministry you’re trying to crank up, and you’ve seen the Lord move a little in people’s lives because of it, but you still feel like you’re out in the wilderness.
It is all too easy to “despise the day of small things”. After all, it’s human nature to get discouraged sometimes by the things of this world. And it’s a fact that most works in the Kingdom just don’t start impressively by human standards (Mark 4:26-29). It was true in Zechariah’s day, and certainly still is the case today. Isn’t it good, though, to remember these Scriptural words of comfort: "'Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,' says the LORD Almighty ". If we could just wait on Him, trusting Him for success in His endeavors, then the perceived size and rate of progress of the work wouldn’t matter to us. As Puritan Bible scholar Matthew Henry wrote, “The day of small things is the day of precious things, and will be the day of great things.” The “small things” of God will bring great harvests of salvation and sanctification which will far outweigh the vain victories and tin trophies of this world. The important thing to remember is the fact that anything that the Lord has started, He will finish. His Word never fails!

Much outreach has been done in this area and now the church needs to mature. Although many people profess Christianity, they need a deep and revealing encounter with God.
Please pray for the many Dayaks, who are quite resistant to the gospel.
Please pray that all the churches would be properly instructed in the Scriptures. There are very few roads on the island, so moving around is quite difficult.
Please pray that there would be a true Biblical Christianity that would shine out to the Muslim majority; the island is 73% Muslim.

These people are almost entirely Muslim and they need the gospel. Please pray for the calling of workers to go to them.
Please pray for a spiritual breakthrough within this people; this is hard ground, but must be watered with tears and prayers.
Please pray for a true church to emerge. We need to pray for them. They are in deep need. They have no hope, so please join your prayers with mine and many others.
Please pray as they visit other parts of Kalimantan and Indonesia, where they would hear the gospel. The cost for a Muslim who comes to faith is extremely high.
Thanks for praying
God bless you

Re: KEITH NOTES FROM NANJING
October 1st is National day in China
It is a time for celebration, especially this year, as it is the 70th Anniversary of the founding of Modern China
This year we will be having our first national day of prayer for China
Jesus said this to his disciples in Mark 14
37 And he came and found them sleeping, and he said to Peter, “Simon, are you asleep? Could you not watch one hour?
Please let's not sleep, let's pray.. let's pray for China
Please use the following books to help you pray for China
Operation World
Operation China
Please pray for a few minutes, if you can pray for an hour, then wonderful, but please pray.
You don't have to use the requests below, they are just a guide, be open to the Holy Spirit
Prayer Requests
Pray for a national revival to take hold throughout China, first of all impacting the church, that the church becomes a shining light of the glory of God
Please pray that each housing complex of which there are over 20 within a mile of us, will have it's own group, led by men
Please pray for the pastors, that they be filled with power, boldness and strength
Please pray for the millions trapped in atheism, Buddhism and materialism, that they would be set free by the power of the gospel
Please pray for the millions of Chinese minority people, please go to this website Joshuaproject and see the great need
Please pray for the millions of Chinese outside China, that many churches would be planted amongst them
Please pray for the young people of China, they are taught humanism and atheism from an early age, please pray that they would be liberated from these things and that the light of the gospel would shine amongst them
Please pray as there is real and active persecution, please pray that the church will stand strong
Please pray for the men of China, that they would respond in large numbers to the gospel, especially pray for more men in the churches
These requests are not exhaustive, they are guides, please use the two books above, it is an investment to buy them, you can get them on Amazon
Please view the news on persecution websites such as Voice of the martrys and Open doors
Below are requests for our little Church :
For Pastor Z and His wife S
for our church workers S, Z and S - they are seminary students
For protection of our church services and our house groups
For the men in our church, small in number, may they continue to grow
Please pray for the children of church members
Please pray for many church members dealing with health issues
Please pray for the co-workers
Please pray that many new people would come especially young people and young couples
Pray for those who used to come, but no longer do, to return
Again these requests are guidelines
Please pray led by the spirit of God, but please pray
Thanks for contributing to this day of Prayer, we hope to make this an annual thing, maybe next year, it will be better organised, I'm sure someone can do a better job than me, maybe a group associated with the persecuted church
Thanks to everyone who has joined us, whether on your own , part of a group or church
From the believers here in China
We echo these words
2 Thess 3
Finally, brothers
pray for us, that the word of the Lord may speed ahead and be honored,
as happened among you.
God bless you

“And he cometh, and findeth them sleeping, and saith unto Peter, Simon, sleepest thou? Couldest not thou watch one hour? Keep awake and watch and pray [constantly], that you may not enter into temptation; the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak…Mark 14:37-38.”
Jesus is praying in the garden and he tells the disciples to pray but they are asleep. Now many of these disciples were fishermen, these three were anyway and they were used to staying up all night.
As we set out to pray ONE HOUR FOR CHINA on the 1st October, may I ask you the same question Jesus asked
Will you not watch one hour?
Let me ask you
Will you watch and pray one Hour for China
Many Christians will watch television for up to twenty hours per week
They will watch a sports match for up to 3 hours
They will watch the latest films or trash tv
They will hours of false teachers such as Joel Osteen and TBN on tv, but they wont pray for one Hour
They will do always anything, but pray. The disciples were experts at fishing all night, but when it came to prayer, they couldn't handle it
We will do anything, but pray.
The devil tempts me to be lazy and I just give in. Oh it's raining - please no Lord. Can't I stay home and pray as I'll get wet. Pathetic excuses right!
I like sleep but we need to pray, as my dear friend Pastor Mark said: “We have lots of time to sleep when we are dead. It is time to awake out of sleep and get to the place of prayer.
IT'S TIME TO WAKE UP!!!
God bless you,
Keith

My office is undergoing a bit of renovation and I will be “Off-Line” for a few days as I am the only one doing the work. I am slow with it so I won’t hurt so bad. I estimate upwards of 1 week to be out of communications (eMail/Web stuff) But will be back hopefully next Monday Lord willing. So I’ll see you then with a brand new office!
Well, as always the best laid plans of mice and men oft go astray…. I have finished the first section of the office renovation, still have the other two floor sections and then the new desk space, so this is taking a bit longer that anticipated… it may be most of this coming week to finish before I get back to sending my devotionals again. Please bear with me as I am doing this without help and being with a bad back things are thrice as slow as I figured. I apologize for that.
On with the show, I will resume as soon as I can. Hang in there, don’t give up on me just yet.
Lord’s blessings be upon you.

In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

As a born again Bible believing Christian, let me assure you that it is true. How you ever seen a bookcase with bookends? If you take one of these away, every book will fall. It is the same with creation. The creation account is one bookend on which the rest of the Bible stands. If the creation account is not perfect, then the whole Bible falls.Let us tell you some of the doctrines that are taught in the first three chapters of Genesis:The Trinity - Ch. 1:26Original sin - Ch. 3
The fall - Ch. 3Man's depravity - Ch. 3The cross - Ch. 3:15Redemption of man - Ch. 3Marriage - Ch. 1-2Most importantly, it revolves around God's power and ability to do this. How He did, I don't know, I just know He did! He spoke and it was!So many in the church want to trample underfoot the God's creative power, but as for me, I stand strongly and shoulder with the amazing truths contained in the opening chapters of Genesis. Many years ago in the UK, there was a popular Christian magazine called Buzz. One month it had an article by Dwayne Gish of the Creation Research Institute.. NEPAL: Video Leads to Threats
Source: Morning Star News
Hindus make up over 80 percent of Nepal's population.
A video leaked to social media has forced a pastor into hiding. Sukdev Giri, pastor of Trinity Fellowship church has received death threats from Hindu militants. Family and friends have also faced threatening phone calls.
In March, Pastor Sukdev spoke at the International Christian Media Workers Summit. In his presentation, he shared about his journey to Christ and discussed the various belief systems in Nepal. While the interview was recorded to video, access was restricted due to its sensitive nature. However, one unidentified woman reposted the video to YouTube on August 11th, leading to a flood of hostile comments. The video received over 750,000 views before it was removed.
As threats increased, his family felt it would be unsafe for him to return to his hometown. Consequently, Pastor Sukdev has been travelling in various areas of Nepal. After consulting with other church leaders, he felt it would not be advisable to file a police report at this time.
While Nepalese law forbids discrimination on the grounds of religion, it is "only on paper," according to lawyer Ganesh Sreshta. Laws that criminalize conversions and place restrictions on Christian activities have created increasing difficulties for Nepal's Christian community. For more information on persecution in this country, go to our Nepal Country Report.

Remember Pastor Sukdev, as well as his threatened family and friends, during this challenging time. Pray that the anger and hostility expressed against them will dissipate, allowing these Christians to resume living in safety and peace within their home community. May God's light penetrate the spiritual darkness of those opposing the Gospel message, so they will see the truth behind the words the pastor has shared in the video and come to a point of repentance and salvation.

CHINA: Six Uyghur Christians Arrested
Sources: ChinaAid, Amnesty International
Minorities are often persecuted in China.
Photo: ChinaAid |
Six Christians of Uyghur descent were recently imprisoned in China's northwestern province of Xinjiang. All were charged with illegal preaching, gathering, and spreading harmful books. They were each sentenced to at least five years in prison. Detained were Mehmet Abdulla, Huji Abdurehim, Maimaiti Yimingjiang, Adil Jan, a Christian doctor with the last name of Rakhman, and a man identified only as "Brother Adil." Some of these believers are new converts to Christ.
In recent years, China has conducted a campaign to suppress the Uyghur people, mainly for their religious beliefs. Amnesty International claims that there are more than one million Chinese citizens of Uyghur descent presently being detained; many of them are Muslim. While the government claims the detentions are to curb terrorism, accounts leaked from forced labour camps report of torture, starvation, rape and rampant abuse.
Uplift in prayer the many Uyghur people who are suffering in Chinese prison camps because of their ethnicity and faith. Pray for their protection and health, as well as the assurance of God's presence with them while anxiously hoping for release. May the Chinese government yield to international pressure and stop the arbitrary detention of these wrongly treated people

Fatemeh Bakhteri has begun a one-year prison sentence in the infamous Evin Prison because she refuses to renounce her faith in Christ. Fatemeh (also known as Ailar) was first informed of her sentence for "acting against national security" in September 2018.
In an appeal hearing this past January, Fatemeh and co-defendant Saheb Fadaie were pressured by presiding judges to renounce their faith, which they refused to do. The decision upholding the verdict was announced in May, and Fatemeh presented herself to the prison in Tehran on August 31st. Saheb was already serving a ten-year sentence for his work in establishing a house church. To learn more about the persecution of Christians in Iran, go to our country report.

Continue to remember the many in Iran who are being imprisoned for merely refusing to renounce their faith in Christ, including Fatemeh and Saheb. Praise God for the ongoing strengthening of the Holy Spirit, who is not only serving as their Advocate, but also enabling these Christians to stand firm and not deny their Lord. Also pray for their safety and well-being -- especially those who, like Fatemeh, are serving time in the notorious Evin prison.

So many people think that Biblical creation is a myth. Well I have news for you.. it isn't! As a born again Bible believing Christian, let me assure you that it is true.
How you ever seen a bookcase with bookends?
If you take one of these away, every book will fall. It is the same with creation. The creation account is one bookend on which the rest of the Bible stands. If the creation account is not perfect, then the whole Bible falls.
Let us tell you some of the doctrines that are taught in the first three chapters of Genesis:
The Trinity - Ch. 1:26
Original sin - Ch. 3
The fall - Ch. 3
Man's depravity - Ch. 3
The cross - Ch. 3:15
Redemption of man - Ch. 3
Marriage - Ch. 1-2
Most importantly, it revolves around God's power and ability to do this. How He did, I don't know, I just know He did! He spoke and it was!
So many in the church want to trample underfoot the God's creative power, but as for me, I stand strongly and shoulder with the amazing truths contained in the opening chapters of Genesis.

23 For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, To The Unknown God. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you.
24 God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands
THE UNKNOWN GOD
The story of Paul's visit to Athens is amazing. Paul is distressed over the situation in Athens; he sees the whole city given over to idolatry.
He has been brought to the centre of Mars Hill, the intellectual capital of the world. He starts his short but powerful sermon, by these words.
Things haven't changed a lot have they. We in the present world are seeking to reach God; we are still doing our devotions; we are still setting up our idols.
Paul declares Christ unto them, and starts with creation and moves to the resurrection of Jesus.
Let me ask you, on the altar of your heart, do you have the inscription.. TO THE UNKNOWN GOD?
Let me use the words of Paul in verse 23, I will declare the one who you ignorantly worship.
Let me tell you of my Saviour: He is my Saviour; He is my Creator and Redeemer.
He is the Lord of Heaven and earth; He is the One who holds everything together.

The Salvation Army was founded by a Methodist preacher by the name of William Booth. Its mission was to share the message of repentance and salvation through Jesus Christ alone. Booth sent many people all over England burdened to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He sent two women Kate and Mary Jackson to Leeds to oversee a mission there. They labored in Leeds for a couple of years and nothing happened. These young ladies toiled every day giving all they had without any return. Then one day they wrote to William Booth, “Would you kindly move us to another station? We’re so tired and disheartened. We’ve tried everything that we’ve been taught to do. Please move us to another location”
Booth sent a telegram back with two words written: “Try tears!”
Those two sisters began to pray and travail for souls and they finally experienced real revival. Kate and Mary did just as General Booth said, and God moved mightily. The Leeds Salvation Army church soon became the largest outside of London.
William Booth was a man like Nehemiah who knew the power of prayer. He also know the power of tears; he had unlocked the missing link in today's church. We preach, we share, we have events, but something is missing, he knew the truth of Psalm 126:
5 Those who sow in tears
shall reap with shouts of joy!
6 He who goes out weeping,
bearing the seed for sowing,
shall come home with shouts of joy,
bringing his sheaves with him.
We sow, and we do not reap. I wonder why? All through the Bible, we have people who wept and cried openly, for whatever reason: Jeremiah, David, Paul, Peter and Jesus Himself.
I want to focus on the man Nehemiah. He was an amazing man! He was a man of power, a man of prayer; I love Nehemiah. If you are building a work for God, this is a "how to book," but it starts with tears and it starts with power.
Nehemiah was a unique man. Let me say some things about him. It says he was the kings' cupbearer, but he was much more than that; he was one of the kings' inner circle, a trusted friend. Look at chapter 2. He had the ear of the king, and the king notices his manner and wanted to know how long he would be away.
Lets see Nehemiah' s reaction was to the news coming from Jerusalem:
He was interested in the work vs 2
He could have kept doing his job for the king... after all Jerusalem wasn't his problem. But his heart was still in his homeland. I suppose its a bit like me. Although I am far away from the UK, my heart and my prayers are still there for my beloved homeland. It's like Paul in Romans 9:1-4. He's the apostle to the gentiles, but his heart still yearns for his own people. How interested are you in God's work? Not just in your own church, but do you know what's going on around the world and how God is working?
He made an immediate response vs 4
It says as soon as he heard these words; these words obviously struck a chord deep within him. So often when we hear something, we put our response off. Nehemiah didn't just hear these words, but he acted immediately. In a race, the athletes reaction time to the starters gun is all important. Let me ask you Christian: Whats your reaction time like? When something comes to your attention or needs to get done, how long does it take you to get involved?
He had incredible passion for prayer vs 4 c/f Ezra 9
Both Ezra and Nehemiah were people who knew their God and were able to do exploits. See also Daniel 11:32. We go to prayer meetings and we have private prayer, but do we pray like these guys did? You and me think we pray, but we don't really pray? Do we weep, do we mourn for days on end? No wonder Nehemiah had not only the kings favour, but also more importantly God's... and now you can understand why.
He interceded for Israel vs 5-6
To stand in the gap means to intercede like Moses did in Exodus 17 when Joshua fought Amalek, the children of Israel at Jerusalem who were either unable or unwilling to pray for themselves, so Nehemiah took on that responsibility. He took it on and prayed passionately and fervently. How is your intercession for your fellow believers? Who are you standing in the gap for?
He implicated himself in Israel's sin vs 6-7
He didn't absolve himself from the sin of the people of Israel. He didn't say, "Well I've been here, so you can't blame me!" He blames himself for being part of the problem! Judah had rebelled and he had rebelled also. He didn't put himself on a pedestal, but he admitted his sin.
He invoked God's promises vs 8-9
Remember back to Joshua 24, Deuteronomy 6 and 28, God said to the children of Israel, "You had a choice. You can choose to serve Me or not, but here is what will happen if you don't serve Me." Nehemiah reminds God of His promise. Look at the promise at the end of verse 9; although the people were outcasts and scattered, God had promised to bring them back. Remember if God promises something, He will always bring it to pass... amen
He had an intimacy in prayer vs 5-11
Nehemiah was a man of prayer and therefore a man of power. We get a glimpse into his prayer life here in this prayer. It is so intimate, so full of power, you ask how should we pray for God's work. His prayer is the blueprint. Do we pray like this?
He was instant in prayer ch1:4 and ch2:4
Paul says in 1 Thess 5:18 to pray without stopping. That doesn't mean you pray 24/7, but that your first reaction to any given situation is like Nehemiah' s. In Chapter 2:4, he was asked by the king, "What is your request?" He could of said what he wanted, but before he spoke, he prayed. If we prayed before we speak, how different the outcome would be..
He had a godly influence on those around him
Nehemiah was a trusted adviser to the king. The king wanted to know in chapter 2 how long Nehemiah would be away for. Why was he concerned about this? Because he knew that Nehemiah gave good advice. He was truly the salt and light in the court of the king. Let me ask you... if you left your place of work or school for a period, how much would you be missed? Look at verse 6 of chapter 2, it pleased the king to send me, what a testimony of Nehemiah' s character.
He had integrity
The king gave things into the hand of Nehemiah because he knew that he could be trusted. He knew that he wasn't going to run off and build another city somewhere else, Nehemiah was a man who could be trusted. Can You? The king granted him what he asked, for the good hand of the Lord was upon him, the hand of the Lord doesn't bless those who cant be trusted.
He inspected the damage and dealt with the main issue ch 2 :11-16
Nehemiah is now in Jerusalem and one of the first things he does is to go and inspect the walls. Before he can put anything right he had to see what had to be done. He was a reformer who did reform Israel, but he saw the main problem and that was that the wall was broken down. Look at his words in chapter 2:17. Sometimes we need to address the main issue and leave the rest till later.
He inspired others ch 2:18
In vs 18, he gives a rallying call to the workers. These are workers that are totally demoralised. They have given up building the wall, but here comes Nehemiah and he just totally inspires them to the point that they say, "Lets build the wall!" What an inspiration he was! Do you inspire others by your actions and your words?
He ignored persecution ch 2:18-20
Sanballat and Tobiah are two of the nastiest characters in the whole Bible. They were persistent through the whole book of Nehemiah. Don't they remind you or anyone? Yes the devil. These tactics they use, are the ones he uses; from open ridicule, to discouragement, to seeking to plant corrupt officials within the Jewish people. His reaction is, and look at the end of verse 20, our God is going to prosper and you two and I use these words carefully, YOU CAN GO AWAY, YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO BE HERE.
Maybe next time we suffer ridicule and discouragement, you should tell the devil, to go away; he has no right to be here... amen.
This all happened because one man wept and took prayerful action. He wept and prayed.
We sow in tears and we reap in joy.
The Lord wants you all to know this... you cannot reap without weeping.
Before you can start to do a work for God, you have to weep over the state of man.
William Booth was asked what training he would give his officers. He replied that he would hold them over the flames of hell to smell the torment of the unsaved.
Finally we have the reason why all this happened.
God intervened!
At this point of history, he raised up a man like Nehemiah to rebuild the walls and to reform the people of Israel. The walls of our churches are as broken down as in Nehemiah' s day. God is looking for men and women who he can use to rebuild and reform.
Are you that man or women?
God bless
Keith

While investigating an alleged theft, police detained 28-year-old Amir Masih. Four days later, he died in hospital from wounds inflicted by police officers.
On August 28th, Amir Masih was taken into custody after accusations of theft were made against him by his employer. Two days later, after not returning home, his family discovered that he was being detained. Finally, on September 2nd, they were informed that Amir was going to be transferred to hospital because he was not well.
Video footage at the hospital shows police bringing Amir there on a motorcycle and then kicking him as they dragged him to the entrance. He died later that day, but only after telling his family of his torture. According to his brother Sunny, Amir was urinated on and mocked for his Christian faith. Then he was tortured, beaten and electrocuted in the officers' efforts to force a confession. An autopsy confirms that he had suffered extensive bruising, along with broken ribs.
At last report, six police officers, including a sub-inspector, have been criminally charged. Various political officials have intervened to ensure justice will be done. One of the officials, Shunila Ruth, believes it is very possible that Amir was tortured because of his Christian faith. "Unfortunately , there are segments in our society who continue to be prejudicial towards members of marginalized communities, " she states. For more information on the difficulties facing Christians in Pakistan, see this page.

CHINA: Christian Orphanage Shut Down

Orphanages based on Biblical principles offer a safe place

Authorities in China's Shanxi province forcibly removed all the children from a Christian-founded orphanage on August 26th and placed them in state care instead. The Bethany Home for Children with Disabilities was founded in 1997 and, over the years, has taken in and provided for more than 100 special needs children. Most of them were abandoned by their parents because of their disabilities.
In early August, officials unexpectedly visited the home and notified staff that the children would be transferred to a state-run orphanage based on alleged suspicions that the home was permitting the illegal adoption of children. Despite assurances to the contrary, all the children, along with some elderly residents in the facility, were taken away.
One source, Mr. Huang, explained that the authorities have been cracking down on all religiously operated homes for orphans in fear that personnel may teach religion to the children. For more information on the persecution of Christians in China, visit our country report.

Intercede for God's intervention in this troubling situation, especially on behalf of the special needs children and elderly who have been thrust into the midst of turmoil and uncertainty. Even though some of them are not able to understand the many changes they are now experiencing (location, daily routine, workers, etc.), may God's peace settle their anxious hearts. Pray also that the compassion demonstrated over the years through the caring staff will sustain these children into the future, and that religious organizations will have opportunities to continue expressing the love and goodness of the Lord to the people of China.
RUSSIA: Place of Worship Shut Down
Source: Forum 18

Legislation governing religious communities in Russia is complex, contradictory, and often inconsistently applied. In one recent case, a church community was barred from using its place of worship, even though it has done so for two decades.
The Verkhnebakansky Baptist Church in Novorossiysk has been worshipping in a two-story building in a residential area for years. There were no problems until the spring of 2018 when a change of government administration brought new attitudes toward religious communities. One church in the city has been demolished and another banned from using its building. The door of the Verkhnebakansky church building was sealed in early July.
Authorities claim that churches are using residential buildings in ways they were not intended, even though a 1997 law permits religious worship on residential premises. The officials also claim that the buildings do not always meet necessary safety and planning regulations. This problem is further compounded as the construction of buildings designated for worship are being denied and the efforts of those affected by this opposition are refused. Despite the attempts of the Baptist church leaders to prove the building meets all regulations, they have only been met with roadblocks.
The church's leadership has appealed the decision and intend to continue presenting this case to the courts, as far as necessary. According to one of the leaders, Yevgeny Kokora, they are prepared to take this matter to the European Court of Human Rights, if necessary.
Pray for wisdom and direction for this church and others that are attempting to navigate through the maze of Russia's most recently imposed legal regulations. Ask God to grant understanding on the part of authorities, and a heightened awareness of their own spiritual needs, so they will be willing to work with these churches and allow freedom of religious worship. As a result, may Christians be able to freely meet for worship throughout Russia without any governmental hindrance or opposition.

Please uphold Amir's wife and two young sons, along with their other family members and friends, as they now try to struggle with the shock of their loved one's sudden death and the resulting grief. Pray that true justice will be done, and that in the meantime action is taken to prevent similar incidents from taking place in the future. Continue to remember the many Christians throughout Pakistan who face opposition from authorities and fellow citizens because of their faith.

CHINA: Christian Orphanage Shut Down

Orphanages based on Biblical principles offer a safe place
and hope to abandoned and bereaved children.

UNREACHED PEOPLES
BONAN PEOPLE
Population 12,000
Christians: One or Two??
The Bonan are one of the smallest of the minority people in China. Their name means "I PROTECT YOU." May they come to say THE LORD PROTECTS US. Please pray that God would break into this people and transform their lives.
This people are completely Sunni Muslim; there are no known believers. These people are completely unreached. There has never been a Bonan Church. Many times there has been appeals to go to these people, but without response. Please pray that Han believers would be called to reach them. May this people not be ignored, please pray for them.
Many young Bonan people travel to Lanzhou for education, where the church is active. Please pray that they would be reached there and would return to share the gospel and form a church.

MONGOL PEOPLE
POPULATION 7.4 MILLION
EVANGELICALS 0.4%
The Peripheral Mongols are largely Buddhists with shamanistic beliefs mixed in. Some embrace atheism. Though less than one percent of them are believers, Christianity is now surging among them. The Bible is completely translated into the common dialect, and other resources like the JESUS Film and Christian radio broadcasting are available. Now they need discipleship and outreach strategies in the midst of a challenging economic situation.
The Mongol people revere nature. Please pray that they would be drawn to the God who created all things.
God is moving among the Mongol people. Please pray that this work would continue and that good churches would be formed among them.
Please pray that the Mongol believers and Han Chinese would reach out with the gospel.

Look to Him
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. - Philippians 4:6-7 NKJV.
For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls. - Hebrews 12:3 NKJV.
Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. - 1 Peter 5:7 NKJV.
You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You. - Isaiah 26:3 NKJV.
An interesting study has been published in the Liver Transplantation Journal. In the study, it was found that those who believe in God survive the transplantation of a liver better than those who do not believe in God. Dr. Franco Bonaguidi led the study, which found that those patients who “sought God's help had a more prolonged post transplant survival than patients with low religiosity.”
There is a woman in a church I was a pastor of who had a liver transplant many years ago now. She was teaching a Sunday School class and was our prayer coordinator. She was on the waiting list for some time, and the actual procedure was many hours in length. Since then, she must take care of her health, being careful to always take her medications properly, and being careful about what she eats and drinks. I cannot imagine facing something like that, going through something like that, and then living with it, without leaning heavily on my God.
No wonder the survival rate for transplant patients is not as good for those who do not believe in God. How can people go through life without God? I know that I need Him every day. I need his strength, His peace, His guidance, His wisdom for everything in my life. God will give you His peace if you do what? If you let Him have your anxiety, if you let Him have your cares. How can you do that? Through prayer. The apostle Paul writes, “...but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.” Then, “the peace of God, which surpasses (passeth – KJV) all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
One more thing is necessary. We must let go of our cares, our worries, our anxieties; and cast them upon, place them upon the Lord. Part of what is involved in doing so is that after we have prayed, we do not continue to dwell upon our problem, or whatever has been causing our anxiety. Instead, we focus upon our Lord Jesus. We cease to worry, by instead thinking about how great is, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
In the Old Testament, when the Children of Israel were in the wilderness, they were led by a pillar of cloud by day and of fire at night (Exodus 13:21). They learned to follow, to look to that pillar of cloud or fire, as God led them from place to place. We must “consider Him,” look to Him, as we go through each day; and then we will not“become weary and discouraged.”

"The Lord God, is a Sun and Shield" Ps 84:11
TO Him we must look for light, comfort, and fruitfulness. He is
our light and our salvation. He will not leave us comfortless.
From Him is our fruit found. The people who know Him, believe
Him, and walk with Him, are blessed.
He giveth light in darkness, joy in sorrow, and life in death.
He is our defence; from Him we must expect protection. His
salvation is our shield; faith lays hold of it, and employs it
against all our foes. He will enlighten and protect us; He will
never fail us, or leave us to want or perish. He communicates
His favours as freely, as easily, and as plentifully as the sun
shines. There is enough in Him, and He will cheerfully bestow.
Let us therefore wait upon Him this day, and walk in the light of
His countenance. Who is among you that feareth the Lord, and
obeyeth the voice of His servant, that walketh in darkness and
hath no light? Let him trust in the name of the Lord, and stay
upon his God. His heart is ever more towards us, His promises
shall be fulfilled to us, and He will glorify every perfection of
His nature in us. O the riches of grace!
Lord, be my safety and defence,
My light, my joy, my bliss;
My portion in the world to come,
My confidence in this:
Be thou, O Lord, my Shield and Sun,
As I the path of duty run.
