Mexico Drops Shocking Threat Against U.S., Issues Sick Retaliation Announcement
The Mexican government is lashing out now that they have accepted that they will be forced to pay for the border wall.

Mexico’s Foreign Secretary, Luis Videgaray, threatened that his government “could explore — not necessarily a visa, that could impede a lot of people from coming to Mexico — but we could perhaps [introduce] a fee associated with entry.” (via Fox News)

That is, the Mexican government is threatening to make Americans pay for the border wall by charging U.S. citizens a fee for the “pleasure” of traveling to Mexico.

However, this is ultimately an empty threat on the part of the Mexican government. Imposing a fee on American visitors would only undermine the Mexican tourist industry.

Not only that, but a fee to enter into Mexico would also disproportionately affect Mexicans living in America (both legal and illegal) who make frequent trips to their home country.

American college students would probably suffer the most from an entry fee as they would be forced to make new plans for spring break.

Ultimately, hindering Americans from traveling to Mexico will only hurt the Mexican economy as the few Americans who travel south will simply find new vacation destinations with less crime.

Sensing that a fee to enter into Mexico would be seen as an empty threat, the top Mexican official Luis Videgaray also offered other acts of retaliation.

If negotiations on the border wall are not “satisfactory to Mexico’s interests, we will have to review our existing cooperation,” explained Videgaray. “This would be especially in the security areas… and that involves the national immigration agency, the federal police and of course, the armed forces.”

Essentially, the Mexican Foreign Secretary is threatening to stop working with the American armed forces and police in their effort to capture Mexican criminals. Talk about cutting off the nose to spite the face. Mexico is threatening to let cartels and gangs ravage their population to avoid funding a border wall.

By threatening to cease cooperation with American security forces, the Mexican government is going to do even less to prevent Mexican gangs from spilling into America.

Perhaps if the Mexican government did a better job hindering criminal cartels and gang bosses in the first place, there would be no need for a border wall.
