Herb Of The Week / Damina / Vitality-Libido
I hope and pray that everyone will have a healthy and prosperous
upcoming week. I also pray that you will be blessed spiritually with
an increased understanding of those things essential for your
well-being.
HOTW #1 is Damiana
In search of new and interesting herbs, I thought of yet another herb
that I had previously overlooked.
DAMIANA (Turnera aphrodisiaca) is an herb native to Central and South
America that has been used for at least hundreds of years for
enhancing sexual activity and can be traced to the ancient Mayans.
Damiana leaf contains beta-sitosterol and various aromatic oils that
create a stimulant effect on the body's sexual organs, helping to
build stronger and more consistent sexual responses, and providing
better sexual health and reproductivity. In large doses it can cause
mild euphoria (a feeling of well-being) It is used by herbalist mainly
to treat insomnia. Whilst this may or may not be true, it has a
definite tonic action on the central nervous and the hormonal system.
As a useful anti-depressant, Damiana is considered to be a specific in
cases of anxiety and depression where there is a sexual factor.
Damiana increases circulation to the sex organs and also benefits
prostate health. It is also considered a beneficial remedy for those
who suffer from sexual "performance anxiety."
Damiana is known for its aphrodisiac properties, and has also been
used for nervousness, weakness and exhaustion. It is said to increase
sperm count in the male and to balance hormones in women.
But why take my word for it?

weaken your immune system and your ability to fight off disease:
1. Anxiety, depression, anger, resentment, guilt and other STRESS
factors
2. Improper and/or inadequate NUTRITION habits
3. A sedentary lifestyle that does not include enough EXERCISE
4. Not enough rest and quality SLEEP time
