Hypocrisy

What is the meaning of Hypocrisy? The dictionary says,"The professing of beliefs or virtues one does not possess."

Matthew 23:28. In the same way, on the outside you appear to people as righteous, but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness.

Why should we go to church if it is full of hypocrites? Well you are right, the church is full of hypocrites ! It is full of liars, cheaters,thieves, adulterers, drunkards and homosexuals.The church is not perfect, because it is full of imperfect people. That is exactly why it is here, that is why Jesus Came. He did not come for the righteous, but to seek and save that which was lost. The church is not a museum for saints; It is a hospital for sinners. So why come to church? So we hypocrites can encourage each other with the grace of Jesus; so that we can help each other to grow into the likeness of our Lord Jesus Christ. The purpose of the church is to teach us how to live in humility, gentleness, patience and love.

I had a guy tell me one time that if you failed to attend church because it was filled with hypocrites, then you were a hypocrite yourself, because you were not doing what you professed that you SHOULD do.

"Sigh" Now I have to find another excuse !!!!
