Words of Wisdom - Page 2 Empty The Scoundrel

Post  Admin Sun 18 Sep 2016, 7:28 pm

The Scoundrel

There was a story of a duke who boarded a galley ship
and went below to talk with the criminals manning the
oars. He asked several of them what their offenses
were. Almost every man claimed he was innocent, blaming
someone else or accusing the judge of taking a bribe.
One young fellow, however, replied, "Sir, I deserve to
be here. I stole some money, No one is at fault but me.
I'm guilty."

Upon hearing this, the duke shouted, "You scoundrel,
you! What are you doing here with all these honest men?
Get out of their company at once!" The duke ordered
that this prisoner be released. He was set free, while
the rest were left to tug at the oars.

Exupery

"Time is the scarcest resource, and unless it is
managed nothing else can be managed." -- Peter F.
Drucker

"Life... It tends to respond to our outlook, to shape

A Great Street Sweeper

"If a man is called to be a street sweeper, he should
sweep streets even as Michelangelo painted, or
Beethoven composed music, or Shakespeare wrote poetry.
He should sweep streets so well that all the hosts of
heaven and earth will pause and say, here lived a great
street sweeper who did his job well."

  -- Martin Luther King, Jr.

Peace

"Peace becomes possible when we stop blaming anything
or anyone for how we feel and take responsibility for
our own perceptions. If we pursue happiness in the way
our culture suggests, we reach for it outside of
ourselves and remain dependent on circumstances that
will remain forever beyond our control. But if we
anchor our sense of self in our consciousness, rather
than in the outer trappings or events of our life,
peace becomes possible.

"Peace is ours when we live from the inside out instead
of from the outside in."
