Because cancer is a disease of lifestyle and environment, there are
serious links between living in a modern society (westernization) and
acquiring cancer. Since all of us, worldwide, want to indulge in the
accommodations and conveniences of modern society, how does nutrition,
herbs and other disciplines of alternative medicine lend itself to
preventing and/or inhibiting the spread of cancer?


And what does one do when you are actually diagnosed with cancer?
Taking antioxidant supplements and eating foods with antioxidants help
PREVENT cancer. Lots of very powerful antioxidants are found in
vegetables. Tomatoes contain a powerful cancer killer called lycopene
that fights against prostate cancer. Cruciferous vegetables such as
broccoli, brussel sprouts and cabbage all SIGNIFICANTLY reduce the
risk of cancer. The anti-cancer properties of cabbage are so
well-accepted that even the American Cancer Society has recommended
that Americans should increase their intake of cabbage family
(cruciferous) vegetables. Strawberries and blueberries are the
anticancer fruits. One study surveyed a group of elderly people who
did NOT acquire cancer and found they all liked a lot of strawberries.
Also promeganate juice is extremely high in antioxidants.

Other powerful antioxidants include GREEN TEA, PINE BARK, and
GRAPESEED. Also the VITAMINS A, C AND E. The mineral SELENIUM is also
a powerful antioxidant. The VITAMIN A should come from BETACAROTENE
and not fish oil. Betacarotene and cigarette smoke together may even
CAUSE cancer. This means quit smoking - if at all possible. Grape seed
and pine bark are known as proanthocyanidins (OPC's) These (OPC's) are
extremely powerful antioxidants.

Two other antioxidants that you might already be taking are MELATONIN,
the sleep supplement, and ST JOHN'S WORT, the herb used for
depression. So if you're already using these you are taking some good
antioxidants.

Although it is best to try to prevent it, I do not believe it is a
death sentence. There are too many documented cases of people treating
themselves herbally and with EXTREME diet changes. According to Ralph
Moss Ph.D. "...To date, not a single non-toxic cancer drug has ever
been approved by the FDA. If we're serious about curing cancer, we've
got to get greed for profits out of the research process!"


So if you already have cancer ......

STOP!!! STOP!! STOP!!

Stop the white sugar and white flour. You know donuts, pancakes,
waffles, PASTA .. all that good stuff that's helping to kill you. Cut
back on sugar. Stop ... and use only honey or dates or STEVIA. (Stevia
is a natural herb, a common weed that is used to sweeten food) STEVIA
can be used if you have a sweet tooth. See the above paragraph in the
foreword on stevia.


Stop with the grease and fried foods. Stop if you want to live.
Stop with the MEAT. Ok, maybe a very little ORGANIC fish and/or
chicken (no preservatives, nitrates, steroids, hormones etc)


Try to cook your own food without preservatives, artificial colors and
flavors. These things are all toxins. Avoid processed food like the
plague! Avoid CHEMICALS.

Try to avoid using ibuprofen and acetaminophen for painkillers.
Instead keep a diary and try stopping whatever is giving you the
headache. Headaches are a SYMPTOM of something your body doesn't like.
Headaches can also mean your body is detoxifying. Let it.


Drink more water. At least your body weight divided by two. (180
pounds divided by 2 =3D 90 ounces of water) That's almost 3 quarts or
almost a gallon daily. Drink good water - purified through reverse
osmosis or filtered. Once again, cancer feeds on sugar.


Again, stop with the meat. If you absolutely MUST have some meat; eat
boiled organic chicken. Just a LITTLE. ORGANIC chicken. Chicken that
has been raised on the open range and ate natural foods and have not
been fed steroids and antibiotics. But I personally would not eat meat
for a WHILE. Avoid milk and dairy products because the milk may
contain hormones, steroids and antibiotics. You can get protein from a
variety of other sources including brewer's yeast, soy products,
spirulina, beans, rice, bee pollen etc.

Eat PLENTY of fresh raw vegetables. Eat PLENTY of steamed vegetables.
Eat oatmeal. Eat brown rice. Drink plenty of vegetable juices. Buy a
juicer. This is how Jack LaLane claims cured himself. He was given
less than a year to live - over 30 years ago. Fresh fruits and
vegetables contain powerful antioxidants that will help your body
fight the cancer. Do NOT drink tap water. It has God knows what in it.
Drink pure distilled water. Do not worry about not getting enough
minerals in your distilled water. It's estimated that we get 95% of
our minerals from food and only %5 from water. Taps water also
contains toxic minerals such as lead and mercury.

Remember CHEMICALS (i.e. preservatives, colorings, flavorings etc.)
are what may have contributed to us contracting cancer in the first
place. Avoid stress. Stress weakens the immune system. Do happy
things. Surround yourself with happy people. Try to be happy. Pray and
try not to be scared. Pray some more. Find a GOOD natural pathologist
and/or herbalist. Find two. Study. Do your research. Help Cure
YOURSELF! Avoid so-called "realist" doctors who predict death. You
want a doctor who is forever optimistic if you intend to be.


MORE ON SUGAR
It has been many decades since Nobel laureate Otto Warburg proposed
that cancer cells derive their energy by the "fermentation" of sugar
rather than by utilizing oxygen through respiration like normal
tissues. They also thrive in an oxygen-poor environment, he said. This
theory has been scorned by cancer orthodoxy. Nevertheless, there
always was some truth to it. There is evidence that brain tumor cells
consume as much as ten to fifteen times more glucose than normal brain
cells. The PET scan is based on this idea. FDG, a radioactive form of
glucose, is injected into the body, and the tumors then show up as hot
spots of abnormal sugar metabolism. "A good correlation has been
demonstrated between increased FDG accumulation in the tumor and
higher-grade brain tumors," states the DeVita textbook (675). In other
words, those tumors are fermenting, just as Warburg said they did over
sixty years ago. STEVIA can be used if you have a sweet tooth. See the
paragraph about stevia at the top of this page in the Foreword.

Of what practical importance is this to cancer patients? It suggests
that cancer patients should greatly limit their intake of sugar and
sweets. "A diet emphasizing complex carbohydrates, fiber, adequate
protein, and essential fatty acids--while minimizing sweets and
processed foods--helps regulate normative blood glucose levels," wrote
Jeanne Wallace, Ph.D. in a recent article (International Journal of
Integrative Medicine 1999;1:2).


IF YOU HAVE BEGAN CHEMOTHERAPY:

These MUSHROOMS (SHIITAKE - MAITAKE - REISHI) are all used to provide
chemotherapy support. They also will help strengthen your immune
system against serious viruses. They can be purchased at a health food
store in extract or pill form. Using Reishi may have some harsh side
effects. Again, consult with a certified or licensed health
practitioner and/or herbalist. Again, you can look it up yourself. On
the net or at your local health food shop.


SPIRULINA "...... may help fight and prevent oral cancer (a 12-month
study of tobacco users found complete REGRESSION in 45 percent of
patients taking one gram per day of the supplement. In addition, there
is fairly good evidence (laboratory studies--not human) that an
extract of spirulina did inhibit replication of HIV-1." Source -
Tipworld Spirulina may be found in "green" drinks that are sold in
health stores that contain barley grass, chlorophyll, algae and that
kind of stuff.


ESSIAC TEA
Rene Caisse's name ("caisse" spelled backwards), is an herbal formula
consisting of Burdock Root, Slippery Elm Inner Bark, Sheep Sorrel and
Indian Rhubarb Root. It is thought that the original formula has it's
roots (pun intended) Ojibway (Sioux) medicine. The magical, miraculous
Properties are said to come from the combination (synergetic energy)
of the herbs. Essiac is STILL at the forefront of much research.
According to the FDA... Essiac is not a cure. But according to the
FDA, neither are most herbs sold in an herbal store.

TURMERIC: Curcumin is the yellow pigment of turmeric (Curcuma longa),
an ingredient of curry powder and prepared mustard. Curcurmin is a
powerful antioxidant. Smoking greatly increases the amount of free
radicals in the body. Antioxidants diffuse free radicals in the body.
In a study, 16 chronic smokers were given turmeric daily while six
non-smokers served as a control group. At the end of the thirty-day
trial, the smokers receiving the turmeric had less cancer-causing
substances (mutagens) excreted in the urine. Because of air pollution,
smoke, aromatic air fresheners, hydrocarbons, and other stuff in the
air, it might be a good idea for EVERYBODY to use turmeric as a spice.
Turmeric also protects the liver from dangerous chemicals and toxins.
People who are susceptible to gallstones should avoid turmeric.

This is, in my opinion, is EXTREMELY INFORMATIVE and enlightening
website. It explains the hows and whys of alternative medicine overall
and how it is applied to cancer treatment. It explains why a lifestyle
change is the most important thing one can attempt. And best of all,
it certainly cannot hurt!! TRANSLATION: You can eat or drink all the
shark cartilage or noni juice or propolis drops or essiac tea you want
to, but without an overall change in your lifestyle... the future is
bleak.

Government. Namely, the National Institutes of Health (NIH). I think
it is a GREAT attempt by the government to acknowledge the promise or
potential benefits of natural medicine. I appreciate the effort. It is

There are some more radical approaches to cancer treatment performed
at the Center for Integrative Medicine in Tijuana, Mexico. The
treatments are based on the theories of Dr. Max Gerson; world renown
for treating cancer with cleansing, detoxification and vegetable

dedicated to Dr. Max Gerson and attempts to explain his theories. Keep
in mind that Dr. Gerson is not the only one who believed these

Oh yeah, I know the media had a field day with Mexican hospitals with
the death of Coretta Scott King. But there are bad hospitals
everywhere.... **IF** this was one of them. And oddly enough, people
usually die in hospitals.
