Jesus Christ – good news for our nation
Elaine /admin here WITH News from Not Ashamed in the run up to Easter .
I am experiencing quite a lot of discomfort due to some ailments but doing as best able to bring news This takes quite a lot of time to include each of the links what I receive to pass on in this and other posts.

Hope for our communities
Our focus this week is the media. In this very short video (c. 2 1/2 minutes) Jon Bellamy explains how he came to be involved in local radio and provides ideas as to how churches can engage with the media.

Response ideas
•Give thanks to God for Christians who work in the media. Ask God to give them strength and wisdom to be courageous, clear, truthful and engaging as they seek to inform and entertain. Thank God for the occasions that the good news of Jesus has been carried on the airwaves and in print and ask that that may happen more and more. If you know a Christian who works in the media why not ask them what you and your church could be praying for them?
•If you hear a debate on the radio where a clear Christian perspective could be brought, why not phone-in? Why not apply to join the audience of a TV show (such as Question Time of the Big Questions) when it comes to your area?
•Why not write a letter to a national or local newspaper about an issue (e.g. the benefit of the Christian foundation of our nation, the threat to Christian freedoms) or about an article that concerns you?
•When you enjoy a TV, radio or newspaper piece and feel that it has helped to present a Christian case or perspective accurately, why not write and thank the editor or broadcaster and ask them to produce similar things in the future?
•If you're concerned about an advert contact the broadcaster or publisher and write to the Advertising Standards Authority or OfCom.
•Are there church events or community projects that you could bring to the attention of local broadcasters or newspapers? They are often looking for stories especially about new or unusual things. Try to get in contact about three weeks before the event. It may be worth putting together a short press release. Please get in touch if you think that we could help.
•Could you or your church offer to help with religious broadcasting on the local radio? Or perhaps you could write an occasional column in the local newspaper? It's worth building relationships with those involved in the local media and offering to help.
•What about starting a local community radio station? Would the CrossRhythms model work in your area?
Hope for our country
Bishop Michael Nazir-Ali continues his series of short reflections on verses from John's gospel. This week he comments on John 19:10 - 11:

So Pilate said to [Jesus], "You will not speak to me? Do you not know that I have authority to release you and authority to crucify you?" Jesus answered him, "You would have no authority over me at all unless it had been given you from above. Therefore he who delivered me over to you has the greater sin. (John 19:10 - 11, ESV)

Prayer ideas:
•Give thanks for those who govern in our nation and for the many benefits and freedoms that we enjoy as a result.
•Pray that for those in positions of authority that they may govern according to truth, righteousness and justice. Pray especially for Christian MPs. Ask that over Easter more MPs may hear about Jesus and come to know Him personally.
•Ask that through His Spirit, God may equip Christians to be good and obedient citizens. Pray for wisdom to know how best to urge government to reflect God's teaching.

Not Ashamed this Easter
•Please think and pray about how you can use the Easter season to bring the message of hope in Jesus Christ to those known to you at Easter? There are many resources available to help including booklets of varying styles and lengths - here's just one example.
•If you're planning an outdoor service, procession with the cross or another act of public testimony in your local area at Easter, why not use the Not Ashamed symbol?
•Why not organise a 'prayer for our nation' event in the run up to Easter?

The Not Ashamed campaign has inspired 18 year old singer-songwriter Josh Anderson to write 'We are Not Ashamed'. With support from followers of Not Ashamed, this song could enter the charts in the run-up to Christmas!
We're told that only around 30,000 downloads would be needed in that week to get this song in the charts — an interesting way of raising the profile of Not Ashamed!
The song will be released on Monday 6th December and will be available on iTunes and other download sites.
