How to Spend Quality Time with God
How to Spend Quality Time with God
1John 1:3...We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you
also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father
and with his Son, Jesus Christ.
Fellowship with Jesus:
The Will of God is revealed in your association with Jesus. The closer
you get to Jesus, the closer you are to God's Will. If you truly desire
to be in God's Will, you must walk with Jesus. The unbeliever cannot
know, nor can he do, the Will of God. Jesus calls you to be His family,
to fellowship with Him. He has agreed to walk with you, have you agreed
to walk with Him? Amos 3:3...Do two walk together unless they have agreed to do so?
You must make a conscious decision to walk with Jesus. His fellowship
is not delivered to you through osmosis. You have to take action.
Your relationship with Jesus is not, cannot be a passive one. You had to choose to accept Him. You have to choose to walk with Him. In the simplest form, it's no different than any of your relationships. Friendships and
love, associations and marriage are a matter of choice. It's never an accident, never a coincidence. You choose to share yourselves with others. You choose to become a part of another's life. Jesus chose to walk with you and me.
The disciples chose to walk with Him. How about you?
Why should you, though? Things really aren't that bad, are they?
1Thessalonians 5:9-10...For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him. You
may not think so, but it's coming.
Ecclesiastes 4:9-12...Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work: If one falls down, his friend can help him up.
But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up! Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone?
Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken. The bond you forge with Jesus is strong. Each of you is stronger, healthier...simply better with Jesus, than you are alone. Have you ever had an emotional fall? It's difficult to
bear by yourself, isn't it? Jesus won't let you be overpowered by any problem, by any enemy. Including the hidden enemy.

Psalms 145:18...The LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who
call on him in truth.
John 6:51-57..."I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If
anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. This bread is my flesh,
which I will give for the life of the world." Then the Jews began to
argue sharply among themselves, "How can this man give us his flesh to
eat?" Jesus said to them, "I tell you the truth, unless you eat the flesh
of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Whoever
eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise
him up at the last day. For my flesh is real food and my blood is real
drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in
him. Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the
Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me.
Start by accepting Jesus into your life. Feed on Him, and you will live
with Him.
That's the beginning. Now, you must walk with Him daily. I know you
can't see Him, and you probably can't feel Him, and I doubt you can hear
Him, yet. But, He is there with you, all around you, ready to walk.
Isaiah 2:3...Many peoples will come and say, "Come, let us go up to the
mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob. He will teach
us his ways, so that we may walk in his paths." The law will go out from
Zion, the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. He will teach you how to
fellowship with Him.
Mark 9:37..."Whoever welcomes one of these little children in my name
welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me does not welcome me but the one who
sent me." Jesus says if you will open up to others, welcome them in,
you will be walking with Him.
Soon you will discover that to walk with Jesus is to walk as Jesus did.
1John 2:6...Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did. The
Will of God is for you and me to walk with Jesus, and as Jesus did. I
try walking my own way too often; how about you? I generally stumble
quite often; how about you? Spending time with Him is walking with Him.
The teachings of Jesus combined walking with Him and obeying Him with
loving Him and being in God's Will. John 14:20-23..."On that day you
will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you.
Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He
who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and
show myself to him." Then Judas (not Judas Iscariot) said, "But, Lord, why
do you intend to show yourself to us and not to the world?" Jesus
replied, "If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love
him, and we will come to him and make our home with him." You cannot be
in God's Will without loving and having fellowship with Jesus!
Our fellowship with Jesus brings change into our lives:
You cannot remain the same with Him. All of those who walked with Him
during His earthly ministry changed. Just look at Matthew (Levi)...Luke
5:27-29....After this, Jesus went out and saw a tax collector by the
name of Levi sitting at his tax booth. "Follow me," Jesus said to him,
and Levi got up, left everything and followed him. Then Levi held a great
banquet for Jesus at his house, and a large crowd of tax collectors and
others were eating with them.
The tax collector of old makes the IRS of today look like a charitable
organization. These were not good people. Matthew was successful at
this questionable trade. The "others" who would gather at Matthew's house
were sinners. But, he changed under the influence of Jesus, under the
Will of God.
Jesus would have us walk with Him, not by ourselves:
John 14:16-17...And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another
Counselor to be with you forever--the Spirit of truth. The world cannot
accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know
him, for he lives with you and will be in you.
He would have you lean on Him when you stumble, not on the world. He
would have you enjoy free-will through Him, not through others. He waits
for your call, your answer... Revelations 3:20...Here I am! I stand at
the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will
come in and eat with him, and he with me.
The Will of God is not only for you to spend time with Jesus, it is to
have close fellowship with Jesus. Won't you answer the door today? He
knocks! God's Will for you lies through the open door, not behind the
closed door.Isaiah 30:21...Whether you turn to the right or to the left,
your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, "This is the way; walk
in it."
You must have Faith, a Pure Heart and Love:
Romans 5:2...Through whom we have gained access by faith into this
grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of
God.
Psalms 23:3-4...Who may ascend the hill of the LORD? Who may stand in
his holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not
lift up his soul to an idol or swear by what is false.
1John 4:16...And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is
love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him.
May God continue to bless you mightily,

Fellowship with Other Believers:
You need each other. You are not complete without each other, nor
without Jesus. In any Christian relationship, especially marriage, the
presence of Jesus is imperative for the success of it. If Jesus is not the
center of the marriage, then who is? Too often marriages, including
those between Christians, begin as a physical union only. That goes against
the very teachings of God's Word. He wants to be at the beginning and
in the middle of your relationships. The only way for that to occur is
if you have built a spiritual relationship with each other. Like a
marriage you need each other, but more important is your need for Jesus.
1Corinthians 12:12...The body is a unit, though it is made up of many
parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is
with Christ. 1Corinthians 12:27... Now you are the body of Christ, and
each one of you is a part of it. The key fellowship for you is with
Jesus. You need Jesus, and He desires you. Together you are a functioning
body; separately, you have serious handicaps.
Even in your fellowship with other believers, Jesus joins in. Is it
God's Will that you fellowship with other believers? What do you think?
The church, the bride of Christ, is designed, planned, conceived and
manifested by Jesus to serve as your conduit for fellowship, your reach
out to like-willed believers. The church, not some glitzy television
production, is to be both the giver of precious fellowship and the
receiver of your unqualified love sharing. You need the relationship of the
church body. The church of God is of Jesus, from Jesus, with Jesus and of
man, from man, with man. Love the church, give to the church, share
yourself with the church, and you walk with Jesus.
Matthew 18:20...For where two or three come together in my name, there
am I with them.
2Corinthians 13:11...Finally, brothers, good-by. Aim for perfection,
listen to my appeal, be of one mind, live in peace. And the God of love
and peace will be with you.
Alright, I'll walk with Jesus. How do I start?
