A Service Dog named Sherry came to Aki Kawatsu's home in Yokohama to help her. Kawatsu, who suffers from a disease that makes her joints prone to dislocation and is restricted to a wheelchair, had occasionally been found unconscious
while her husband was not at home and she was unable to call for help.
Thanks to Sherry's skills the problem has been addressed.
She brings me the cell phone and unlocks the door so that people can come in to give me the help I need, Kawatsu says. She's my lifeline.
Get a bottle she orders and the dog sitting at her feet trots to the
refrigerator. Sherry opens the door, brings a plastic bottle of water
between her teeth and offers it to her owner. She even remembers to close the refrigerator door with her muzzle.

Service Dogs are trained to help physically-challenged people, picking up things that have been dropped and opening and closing doors, among other tasks.
The Support Dog Association™ is the largest group in the country raising and training 40% of such dogs. It provides an average of four dogs to physically challenged people a year, and it hopes to raise the figure to around 10 per year.
Support dogs™ could bring significant changes to the lives of 15,000
physically challenged people, director Tomoko Takayanagi said.

There is nothing good reported about dogs in the Bible, but we do know that they belong to God and that He chooses to care for them much like all the animals.
God can use dogs for His glory, just like He uses crows which the Bible calls unclean!

I own every bird in the mountains.
The creatures of the field belong to me
(Ps. 50:11, NIV).
More than mere animals, we belong to God and He wants to use us for His glory -- even when we are physically challenged!

Therefore, as we have opportunity,
let us do good to all people,
especially to those who belong to the family of believers
(Gal. 6:10, NIV).
Lets be on the lookout to help people in need!
