The role of an Israeli leader is to adopt the policies that protect Israel, even when they are unpopular at the White House. The problem for American lawmakers is that the diplomatic course that Obama has chosen makes it impossible for the US to use the tools of diplomacy to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.

On Wednesday night, Channel 2 showed satellite imagery taken by Israel’s Eros-B satellite that was launched last April. The imagery showed new missile-related sites that Iran recently constructed just outside Tehran. One facility is a missile launch site, capable of sending a rocket into space or of firing an ICBM.
On the launch pad was a new 27-meter long missile, never seen before.
The missile and the launch pad indicate that Iran’s ballistic missile program, which is an integral part of its nuclear weapons program, is moving forward at full throttle. The expanded range of Iran’s ballistic missile program as indicated by the satellite imagery makes clear that its nuclear weapons program is not merely a threat to Israel, or to Israel and Europe. It is a direct threat to the United States as well.

Is the Middle East on the Verge of Exploding?

Five separate sets of potential fireworks have been igniting simultaneously in the Middle East for the last few weeks, each of them adding fuel to the fires caused by the others. If and when these developments reach the kindling point, the entire region may go up in uncontrollable flames.
These are the sources of the fires:
a. the rivalry between Al Qaeda and ISIS
b. the intensifying struggle between the Sunni Jabhat al Nusra and the Shiite Hezbollah.
c. the successes of the Houthis in Yemen
d. Islamic fury at what is happening in Egypt
e. the struggle between Islamic extremists and European regimes
Here are the details::
a. In the militant Sunni arena there is a fierce struggle going on between organizations that identify with Al Qaeda’s ideology, headed by Jabhat al Nusra - and ISIS, which is in control over large swathes of Syria and Iraq and has established the most stringent form of Sharia law in those areas. The rivalry has caused Al Qaeda to increase its attacks on the Yemeni government, abort an American attempt to rescue two hostages from Yemen last December, accept responsibility for the Charlie Hebdomurders in Paris and announce that the brothers who perpetrate the murders received their training in an Al Qaeda camp in Yemen.
b. The war between the Shiite Assad regime and Hezbollah on the one hand and Sunni Jabhat al Nusra on the other is getting more fierce. Jabhat al Nusra managed to cause Hezbollah painful losses recently, near the Hermon Mountain range and in a daring infiltration into the Bekaa Valley in Lebanon, by way of the city of Arsal. Hezbollah is feeling pressured, leading the Iranian revolutionary guards to send some top officers to help the organization plan its next operation and improve its results.
c. In Yemen, the Shiite Houthi militias have succeeded in taking over the capital city of Sana’a and appear as the winning side in the long, drawn out war the Houthis have been waging against that nation. Iran is backing the Houthis, the US is helping the regime, both against al Qaeda and the Houthis. Without doubt, Yemen is a battlefield where Iran is forcing its enemies to follow its agenda, including nearby Saudi Arabia, which sees the Houthis as a direct threat to its security. Several years ago, the Saudis built a separation fence all along their border with Yemen, in an attempt to keep out Al Qaeda and Houthi militants.
d. There is a fierce struggle in Egypt between the Muslim Brotherhood – the mother of all Sunni Jihad organizations – and the regime of Al Sisi. As far as this struggle goes, Sisi is reinstating the government of Gamal abdel Nasser, Sadat and Mubarak, all of whom waged relentless and bloody war against the “Brothers”. As of now, Sisi has succeeded in pushing the “Brothers” from positions of rule into jail cells and from the streets to the cemetery. His successes are infuriating his detractors. The fight is to the finish, and it is also being waged in the Sinai Desert between the government and the militias of Anṣār Bayt al-Maqdis, who recently switched its loyalties from al Qaeda to ISIS.
Europe is a relatively new battleground, but the last few weeks showed mounting escalation, both in jihadist activities against governments (see France) and in governmental activity against jihad cells (Belgium, Germany). Jihad activities in Europe are encouraged by ISIS as well as Al Qaeda, both sides of the rivalry mentioned above. People who return from Jihad in Syria, Iraq and Libya - but not just they - are participating in the heated struggle for Europe’s image.
These struggles are synergetic, they influence one another because an Islamic militant sees what is happening in one area and decides to take revenge for Allah in another. This sinking into chaos can lead to large number of large scale conflicts, with many more participants and deaths, especially if these organizations succeed in drawing Israel and the US into the fray. We have already heard of ground troups from the West fighting ISIS.
Israel must understand the dangers now permeating the atmosphere of the MIddle East with oil vapors that any spark can set on fire and that no one will be able to put out before the entire region is ablaze. The potential for destruction posed by all these disputes is enormous, and the explosion may shake Europe and even cross the Atlantic when Islamic extremists blow their minds at the deep crisis affecting the entire Middle East.
The massive Islamic immigration to Europe turned that continent into a branch of the Middle East’s disputes, so that Europe will not be immune to the many deep seated and broad Middle Eastern problems. And America is on the same planet, so that the Middle East disasters will find their way to its shores as well.

Jihad by Civilian

Jihad has rapidly taken a new and ominous shape.In the past, bombs were exploded...Rockets were launched. Unbelievably, planes were once flown into major Western targets. Now, President Obama empowers the radical Islamic world further by refusing to join the words “terrorism” and “Islam” and by insisting that Islam is a religion of “peace.”
Obama continues to empower Iran to become a nuclear power and, most fatefully, empowers the recruitment efforts of The Islamic State.
He does so each time he refuses to say that the Free World or the Judeo-Christian West is at war with Islamic barbarianism or with radical political Islam.
I once feared and tried to monitor Palestinian and pro-Palestinian surging, potential lynch mobs in the Middle East, in Israel, and globally. The marches and demonstrations, both in the street and on campuses in the West have, over the years, become more aggressive, louder, more entitled.
Now, the threat is a more individual one. Radicalized Islamist sleeper-cell individuals, or “lone wolf” jihadists, dressed in civilian clothing, are taking civilians hostage. They do not “look” like traditional soldiers—they dress like the people they hold hostage and like the people they massacre. We have seen this happen recently in Australia and in France.
Israel has long been used to this kind of challenge—that of facing warriors dressed as civilians who, in addition, hide behind innocent human shields; when they die in the combat which they began, the West counts them as “civilian” dead. The soldier disguised as a civilian, who is fighting a non-traditional war, is a phenomenon that the world at large has refused to understand as long as the victims are mainly Israelis.
Now, more ominously, individuals dressed as civilians are running their cars into crowds yelling “Allahu-Akbar!”
They have butchered Jewish rabbis at prayer in West Jerusalem and as of today, one individual Jihadist has stabbed civilians on a bus and on the street. (Such wild stabbings have happened before in Israel).
It is important to note that the attack took place in Tel Aviv, not in Hebron. As I have always said: The “settlement” that most offends the Arab world is Tel Aviv; the “settlement” that offends is a Jewish infidel presence in the Islamic world.
“It-bak el Yahud”—butcher or slaughter the Jew, is a very up close and barbaric method of homicide. We see the soldiers of the Islamic State be-heading captives and broadcasting their gory deeds. This has attracted sociopaths, angry Muslims and people of color who have converted to Islam and who live in the West.
To the extent to which the Free World does not stop the slaughter of the Jews, it will inevitably get to experience this form of “individualized” Jihad in their own countries.

Islamic State Deepens Grip in Future Palestine

According to Israeli security forces, dozens of Hamas and Islamic Jihad members in the West Bank have defected to the Islamic State in recent months. Their main goal, according to sources, is to topple the Palestinian Authority and launch terror attacks on Israel.
Some 200 supporters of the Islamic State, who held up Islamic State flags, took to the streets of Gaza City to protest the latest cartoons published by the French satirical magazine, Charlie Hebdo. They also chanted slogans that called for slaughtering French nationals, and burned French flags. Attempts by Hamas to impose a news blackout on the protest failed, as photos and videos found their way to social media.
The glorification of terrorists and jihadists by the Palestinian Authority, and the ongoing anti-Israel incitement by both Hamas and the Palestinian Authority, is driving many Palestinians into the open arms of the Islamic State.
Hamas and other Palestinian groups are continuing to deny the obvious, namely that the Islamic State terror group has managed to set up bases of power in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
The Palestinians do not feel comfortable talking about the fact that Islamic State is working hard to recruit Palestinians to its ranks.
The presence of Islamic State in the West Bank and Gaza Strip is an embarrassing development for both Hamas and the Palestinian Authority.
For Hamas, the fact that Islamic State has long been operating in the Gaza Strip is something that it does not want the world to know about.

Does Europe Have 'No-Go' Zones?

Governments often choose not to impose their will on Muslim-majority areas, allowing them considerable autonomy, including in some cases the Shariah courts that Emerson mentioned. Alcohol and pork are effectively banned in these districts, polygamy and burqas commonplace, police enter only warily and in force, and Muslims get away with offences illegal for the rest of population.
Comments by Steven Emerson on Fox News have prompted a heated debate over whether predominantly Muslim “no-go” zones exist in Europe. On Jan. 11, Emerson said they “exist throughout Europe. … They’re places where the governments like France, Britain, Sweden, Germany don’t exercise any sovereignty. … You basically have zones where Shariah courts were set up, where Muslim density is very intense, where the police don’t go in, and where it’s basically a separate country almost, a country within a country.”
Although Emerson, whom I admire for his moral courage and investigative skills, immediately apologized for his “terrible error” of saying that cities like Birmingham, England, “are totally Muslim where non-Muslims just simply don’t go,” he did not address the larger question of whether no-go zones, in fact, do “exist throughout Europe” and are places where governments “don’t exercise any sovereignty.”
Is he right about this?
In a 2006 blog entry, I called Muslim enclaves in Europe no-go zones as a non-euphemistic equivalent for the French phrase Zones Urbaines Sensibles, or Sensitive Urban Zones. No-go zones subsequently became standard in English to describe Muslim-majority areas in Western Europe.
After spending time in the banlieues (suburbs) of Paris in January 2013, as well as in their counterparts in Athens, Berlin, Brussels, Copenhagen, Malmo, and Stockholm, however, I have had second thoughts. I found that those areas “are not full-fledged no-go zones” — meaning places where the government had lost control of territory. No war lords dominate; Shariah is not the law of the land. I expressed regret back then for having used the term no-go zones.
So, what are these places? A unique and as-yet unnamed mix.

Why the Mullah's Love Obama

There is a very good possibility that the entire global balance of power will be profoundly altered within a relatively short interval of time. For the last 14 centuries, a war has been waged within the Islamic world over which version of Islam, Shiite or Sunni, will carry the mantle of the true heirs to the Prophet Muhammad’s crown.
Our diplomacy is at work with respect to Iran, where, for the first time in a decade, we’ve halted the progress of its nuclear program and reduced its stockpile of nuclear material. Between now and this spring, we have a chance to negotiate a comprehensive agreement that prevents a nuclear-armed Iran; secures America and our allies — including Israel; while avoiding yet another Middle East conflict. There are no guarantees that negotiations will succeed, and I keep all options on the table to prevent a nuclear Iran. But new sanctions passed by this Congress, at this moment in time, will all but guarantee that diplomacy fails — alienating America from its allies; and ensuring that Iran starts up its nuclear program again. It doesn’t make sense. That is why I will veto any new sanctions bill that threatens to undo this progress. The American people expect us to only go to war as a last resort, and I intend to stay true to that wisdom.

Iran Doesn't Need Nuclear Weapons

In his State of the Union address, President Obama forcefully announced he would not accept “a nuclear-armed Iran.” This reflects his view that the only objectionable element of Iran’s behavior would be acquisition and possible use of such weapons. This is conveniently narrow.
While the ability to produce nuclear weapons quickly and in secret — if it hasn’t already done so – is important, Iran pursues a wide variety of long-term Shiite religious and Persian imperial goals in the Middle East and Africa, and in the Western Hemisphere. To succeed broadly, Tehran needs time, money, and the absence of Western pushback. Having the president focus on nuclear weapons later rather than current Iranian behavior at home and abroad is helpful to them.
Any great campaign, including Iran’s, requires money. Years of sanctions plus crashing of oil prices, coupled with enormous domestic subsidies and payouts to Hizb’allah, Syria, Hamas, and others should have put Iran in desperate straits. But Washington, according to the State Department, will release a total of $11.9 billion to Iran through June 2015 if the U.S.-Iran talks continue to their projected end. Sen. Mark Kirk told the Washington Free Beacon, that in just the last 9 months of that period, “Direct forms of sanctions relief will allow Iran access to roughly $4.9 billion in frozen money. That’s equal to what it’d cost Iran to fund Hezbollah for as much as 50 years.” (The Pentagon has estimated Iran spends $100-200 million on Hizb’allah annually.)
The president’s veto threat means the mullahs don’t have to choose among nasty goals and beneficiaries. It was disconcerting to imagine them applauding as the president chastised the elected representatives of the American people on behalf of a monstrously repressive cabal.
Local Hegemony. Sunni Arab Saudi Arabia is Iran’s historic enemy, and the small vulnerable Sunni-Arab-but-with-considerable-Shiite-minority Gulf States look to the kingdom for protection. But the Iranian navy is well equipped to work in the shallow Persian Gulf, giving it the potential to threaten oil exports and recalcitrant rulers.

Obama Wins War on Terror By Saying It Doesn’t Exist
The White House explains that Taliban is not a terrorist group — it is an "armed insurgency."

You are looking at an "armed insurgent" and not a terrorist, according to the White House.
The White House said that Taliban is an “armed insurgency” and not a terrorist group, a handy semantic tactic to allow President Barack Obama to declare he was won the war on terror.
It is strange why no one thought of this solution before. You get rid of terror simply by re-defining it. Perhaps he has learned from the Palestinian Authority how to re-write the dictionary. Mahmoud Abbas has convinced the world that “ultimatum,” as in “Israel must agree to my terms or else,” actually mean “negotiations.”
So is Taliban a terrorist organization?
ABC News’ Jon Karl asked White House Press Deputy Press Secretary Eric Schultz Wednesday how the government can explain if there is any difference between a Jordanian and Americans agreement to free terrorists in return for the release of hostages.
Jordan has agreed to trade a convicted terrorists for the release by the ISIS of one of their air force pilots. Karl asked if Jordan simply is not doing exactly what the United States did when it agreed to release five Taliban leaders from Guantanamo Bay in return for Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl.
Karl pointed out that Taliban ”is clearly a terrorist organization,” like ISIS.
No, no, no, said Schultz.
“We don’t make concessions to terrorist groups,” he said, assuring reporters that the Islamic State “is a terrorist group.”
But what about Taliban?
Wasn’t Taliban once the ruling government of Afghanistan that refused to hand over members of Al Qaeda who were allegedly involved in the 9/11 attacks on New York and Washington?
Doesn’t Taliban maintain a powerful force in Afghanistan and Pakistan from where it attacks U.S. soldiers as well as children in a Pakistani school?
Isn’t Taliban included in the State Dept.’s Specially Designated Global Terrorist list?
Doesn’t the National Counterterrorism Center list the “Taliban Presence in Afghanistan” on a map of global terrorism presences?
The answer to all of these questions is, “yes.”
So Taliban is a terrorist group,. right?
Schultz said:
I don’t think that the Taliban, um — uh – the Taliban is an armed insurgency.
White House Press Secretary tried a bit of damage control on Thursday.
“They [Taliban] do carry out tactics that are akin to terrorism. They do pursue terror attacks in an effort to try to advance their agenda,” he told reporters.
Nu?
Well, says Earnest, “it’s important to draw a distinction between the Taliban and al-Qaeda. The Taliban has resorted to terror tactics, but those terror tactics have principally been focused on Afghanistan” although many American personnel and soldiers in Afghanistan “are in harm’s way.
Got it? Taliban only uses “terror tactics.” If it quacks, it doesn’t mean it’s a duck. Maybe it’s a ventriloquist.
“The Taliban is a very dangerous organization,” Earnest admitted but it still is different from ISIS.
His twisted narrative goes like this:
What the President has pursued is a clear strategy for building up the central government of Afghanistan and the Afghan security forces, so that they could be responsible for security in their own country and take the fight to the Taliban
That, however, is different than the strategy that we have pursued against Al Qaeda. Al Qaeda is a terrorist organization that has aspirations that extend beyond just the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan..
Al-Qaeda and their affiliates around the globe have sought to carry out terror attacks against Americans and American interests all around the globe….
There’s no doubt that the threat from the Taliban is different than the threat that is posed by al-Qaeda.
By that reasoning, Hamas is not a terrorist group because it is not a worldwide threat.

Egyptian court rules Hamas armed wing a terror group
Government claims Islamist organization cooperated with IS affiliate in coordinated Sinai attack that left over 30 dead

AIRO, Egypt — An Egyptian court on Saturday ruled that Hamas’s armed wing, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, was a terror organization, in a move that left the Islamist group reeling.
The movement’s deputy head of the political bureau, Ismail Haniyeh, a former prime minister in the Gaza Strip, hit back at the announcement, saying “you [Egyptians] have lost your sense of justice.”
“The Brigades are a source of pride, respect and bravery,” he said, according to Ynet.
Since the Egyptian military ousted Islamist president Mohamed Morsi in 2013, the authorities have accused the Palestinian group that controls the Gaza Strip of aiding jihadists who have increased their attacks on security forces in the Sinai Peninsula.
The announcement of the Hamas ban came two days after Islamic State affiliated-extremists claimed responsibility for a coordinated attack that killed over 30 people, mostly soldiers, on Thursday. The Egyptian government pointed a finger at the Muslim Brotherhood and its offshoot Hamas for the attacks, blaming both for involvement.
“From the very first moment, it was clear that Hamas had a hand in this [attack],” said Ahmed Mousi, a TV presenter on a network close to Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi, according to Channel 2.
Thursday’s attack was the second major operation on Egyptian security forces in Sinai in the last 6 months; 31 soldiers were killed in another operation in October 2014. The continued success of the Sinai-based Islamic militants, despite more than a year of being targeted by massive military operations, highlights the resilience of the militants and represents an embarrassing security failure for el-Sissi and his administration’s high-profile war on terror..
However el-Sissi immediately laid the blame on the Muslim Brotherhood, the Islamist movement that has been banned from Egypt and declared a terrorist group. El-Sissi, then defense minister, ousted Morsi from the presidency in July 2013 after massive nationwide protests against Morsi’s rule.
Following the ouster, the Egyptian president also cracked down on Hamas, destroying hundreds of tunnels into an out of the blockaded Gaza Strip and keeping the Rafah border crossing tightly monitored and often closed. Egypt was also building a buffer zone with the Palestinian enclave.

Egypt‘s army and jihadists clashed in Sinai Friday after the attack, leaving two children dead. Health officials said a six-month-old baby was shot in the head by a bullet during the clashes and a six-year-old was killed in a rocket blast in the Sinai Peninsula. Two more people including a 12-year-old were badly wounded.
The violence came a day after jihadists targeted security forces with rockets and a car bomb in North Sinai province in simultaneous attacks claimed by Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis, an affiliate of the Islamic State.
Sissi pulled out of an African Union summit in Ethiopia and flew home “to monitor the situation,” his office said. “The army and police will intensify their raids against terrorist and extremist elements in Sinai and across the country,” a military statement said.
Militant ‘retaliation’
The militants say the attacks was in retaliation for a government crackdown on Morsi supporters in which hundreds have been killed, thousands jailed and dozens sentenced to death.
US State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki condemned Thursday’s attacks and said Washington “remains steadfast in its support of the Egyptian government’s efforts to combat the threat of terrorism.”
Late last year, Washington delivered 10 Apache helicopters to Egypt, which has poured troops and armor into the peninsula, for joint counter-terrorism operations in the Sinai.
On Friday, Iran stressed the need for regional cooperation “to combat the terrorist menace in Egypt”.

The main focus of Thursday’s attacks was el-Arish, the provincial capital, where militants fired rockets at a police headquarters, a military base and a residential complex for security forces, officials said.
This was followed by a suicide car bombing and an attack on a military checkpoint south of el-Arish.
Separately an army officer was killed when a rocket struck a checkpoint in Rafah, on the border with the Gaza Strip.
Officials said at least 62 people were wounded in the attacks.
Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis, claimed the assaults, saying on Twitter it had “executed extensive, simultaneous attacks in the cities of el-Arish, Sheikh Zuweid and Rafah.”
The organization in November pledged allegiance to IS, which has captured large chunks of territory in Syria and Iraq.
Security measures
The October attack, also near el-Arish, prompted the authorities to build a buffer zone along the Gaza border to prevent militants infiltrating from the Palestinian enclave.
They have also imposed a state of emergency and night-time curfew in parts of northern Sinai.
“These measures are just random retaliation that creates more terrorism, and what is worse is that it could make residents sympathize” with the extremists, said Ahmed Abdel Rabo, political science professor at Cairo University.
The military said Thursday’s attack was the result of “the failure of Muslim Brotherhood… in spreading chaos on the fourth anniversary of the January 25 revolution.”
On January 25, 2011, millions of Egyptians protested against president Hosni Mubarak, eventually forcing him to step down.
As Egypt marked the anniversary Sunday, clashes between protesters and police left 20 people dead, mostly in Cairo.
Since Mubarak’s ouster Egypt has been rocked by political and economic turmoil.

Spanish Ambassador to the UN: “Israel is responsible for the escalation in the North”

The attacks in the North led to the death of a Spanish UNIFIL soldier and the ambassador said that he was going to examine the circumstances of the death.
The UN Security Council has appointed a committee that will investigate yesterday’s events along the northern border, which killed a Spanish UNIFIL soldier. In a special meeting held by the UN Security Council last night, the Spanish Ambassador to the UN said Israel was responsible for the death of the soldier.
“The incident took place following the escalation of violence, which Israel began,” stated Spanish Ambassador Roman Oyarzun Marchesi, who called for a full investigation into the death of Spanish soldier Francisco Javier Suria Toldo. “I call on both sides to stop their actions and act responsibly while maintaining the safety of UN forces serving in the area.”
UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon also addressed the events. In a statement, Ban Ki-Moon expressed deep concern about the recent developments and sent his condolences over the death of the UNIFIL soldier.
The establishment of the UN Inquiry Committee comes after the Spanish Foreign Minister opened an investigation following the death of the observer from IDF shell fire. Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Grisa Margalo requested yesterday that the UN open an investigation immediately about the sequence of events which killed Toldo. “We are requesting that the UN open a full and thorough investigation of the tragedy,” he said.
Israeli Ambassador to Spain Alon Bar expressed his condolences over the death of the observer in the attack. Additionally, UN envoy to Syria Stephan De Mistura also sent condolences to the family of the Spanish soldier and clarified that an immediate investigation was necessary.
Toldo was stationed in Lebanon last November. Initial investigations of UNIFIL found that the soldier was killed in an explosion of 25 mortars in the Har Dov region.

At Rambam Hospital in Haifa on Friday, Prime Minister Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yaalon visited the IDF officers who were wounded in the attack on the Lebanese border this week where two IDF soldiers were killed. Netanyahu blames the volatile situation in the north on Iran and says that Israel will not accept any situation where Iran has the ability to develop nuclear weapons.
Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman was in the Golan Heights on Friday near the border with Syria where he met with local area mayors. Lieberman criticized the government's policies which he says hurt Israel's security.
Upon his return from New York, Israel's president Reuven Rivlin paid a visit to the families of the soldiers killed this week in the Hezzbolah attack on the northern border. Rivlin offered strength to the families and said that he promises that neither he, nor the IDF nor the citizens of Israel will forget the heroism of the fallen soldiers.

Boehner: 'Nobody in the World' but Netanyahu Can Speak on Iran & Terrorism

Despite the criticism he has received, U.S. House of Representatives Speaker John Boehner does not regret the decision he made to invite Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to address a joint session of Congress in early March.
In an interview with CBS’s “60 Minutes” on Sunday, Boehner said he notified the White House of his decision on the morning that he extended the invitation to Netanyahu.
“There’s nobody in the world who can talk about the threat of radical terrorism, nobody can talk about the threat that the Iranians pose, not just to the Middle East and to Israel, our longest ally, but to the entire world, but Bibi Netanyahu,” Boehner said in the interview.
Boehner then criticized U.S. President Barack Obama for failing to take the threat of terrorism and the Iranian nuclear threat seriously.
“The president is trying to act like it’s not there,” he said. “But it is there. And it’s going to be a threat to our homeland if we don’t address it in a bigger way.”
Asked about passing additional sanctions on Iran to stop its nuclear program, Boehner said that he thinks “the House believes that more sanctions, if they don’t come to an agreement, are in order,” and that he disagrees with Obama, who has said that additional sanctions during negotiations would ensure the failure of diplomatic efforts.
Republican Senator John McCain on Sunday defended Boehner’s decision to invite Netanyahu to speak before Congress. McCain said that he feels the relationship between the Israeli and the U.S. governments has deteriorated, and suggested that the Iran issue has likely contributed to the worsening ties.

“I do believe that it’s important that Prime Minister Netanyahu speak to the American people,” McCain said. “We need congressional ratification of any agreement that is made [with Iran].”
Netanyahu addressed the Iran issue on Monday during a visit to Israel Aerospace Industries’ Systems, Missiles and Space Group.
“The agreement now being forged between the major powers and Iran is unacceptable to Israel,” Netanyahu said.
“This agreement is dangerous to Israel, to the region and to the world. … I, as prime minister, stand up and say this unequivocally: We will do everything in order to prevent the arming of Iran with nuclear weapons capabilities,” he added.
A senior Israel official with knowledge of the Iran negotiations said Monday, “I don’t believe that an agreement will come at any price.”
He added that a deal is unlikely to be reached before March, and that a great deal rests on “difficult decisions that Iran must make … though there has not yet been any real change among the Iranians with regard to concessions that could lead to an agreement.”
“The combination of diplomatic and economic pressures increases the chances of a good outcome from the negotiations. Putting pressure on Iran won’t guarantee a deal, but a lack of pressure will ensure that there is no deal,” the official said.
Meanwhile, Israeli Supreme Court Justice Salim Joubran is expected to rule in the coming days on whether Israeli media outlets will be permitted to air Netanyahu’s address to the U.S. Congress, which will take place two weeks before the March 17 Knesset elections.
Joubran requested that Netanyahu personally respond by Feb. 1 to the left-wing Meretz party leader Zehava Gal-On’s petition that the speech before Congress not be televised on the ground that it would constitute electioneering, and he further named Israeli Attorney General Yehuda Weinstein as a respondent in the petition.

Dear Obama: "Say It Like It Is" about Radical Islam

Journalist Thomas Friedman, normally a staunch supporter of US President Barack Obama, derided the leader of the free world for dancing around the issue of Islamic extremism.
In a recent op-ed for The New York Times, Friedman slammed the Obama administration for being “so fearful of being accused of Islamophobia, [it] is refusing to make any link to radical Islam”.
What prompted his comments, he explains, was the announcement of a Summit on Countering Violent Extremism.

He then proceeded to point out other examples of the current administration’s reluctance to “say it like it is”, such as the remarks of White House spokesman Josh Earnest, who explained the Charlie Hebdo attack as “individuals who carried out an act of terrorism, and they later tried to justify that act of terrorism by invoking the religion of Islam and their own deviant view of it.”
Friedman is quick to assert that not all Muslims should be held responsible for the acts of the extremist fringe. However, he says, “ it is not good for us or the Muslim world to pretend that this spreading jihadist violence isn’t coming out of their faith community.”
Doing so only prevents those in a position to change things from being able to take action by stifling conversation on the topic. It also serves to empower those who wish to perpetuate the current situation.

IDF soldiers came under attack late Wednesday morning near the border with Lebanon after anti-tank missiles were fired at an IDF patrol. Two soldiers are confirmed dead.
Four soldiers were initially reported seriously wounded in the northern Har Dov area in a part of the border that does not have a fence. Seven soldiers have been injured in total.
Reports indicate that an army vehicle was targeted by an anti-tank missile. Simultaneously, IDF positions along the border were hit with mortar shells. A mortar also hit an IDF outpost on Mount Hermon.

Israel responded to the attack by opening fire on positions in southern Lebanon. Artillery shells struck known Hezbollah strongholds in the border region. A UNFIL soldier from Spain died on the Lebanese side of the border following Israeli shelling of Hezbollah positions.
The Lebanese Daily Star reported that eight shells fired by Israel hit targets inside Lebanon following the attack. More than 50 shells have been fired thus far. Hezbollah has claimed responsibility for the attack on the IDF convoy. “At 11:30 a group of Shiuhada’ al Quneitra hit an Israeli convoy with officers and soldiers,” a Hezbollah communique read.
Residents living near the border were told to stay indoors and enter their protective shelters. “All residents are asked to return to their homes and to close all doors and windows until further notice,” an IDF Home Front Command text message read to residents in the area. Vacationers and hikers in the north were ordered to evacuate the northern region by the army.
In response to the attack, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated, “To all those who try to challenge us on the north, I suggest you look at what happened in the Gaza Strip.”
Wednesday’s attack comes less than 24 hours after two rockets exploded in the Golan Heights on Tuesday afternoon. The rockets, which were launched from Syrian territory, is part of an attack attributed by the IDF to Hezbollah.
The Lebanese terror organization vowed revenge after an alleged IAF airstrike killed Hezbollah and Iranian operatives, including high level commanders, ten days ago.
Israel’s Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon issued a stern warning to Hezbollah and its patron, Syria, on Wednesday stating: “The Assad regime is responsible for the fire into Israel, and we will exact a heavy price from any government or organization that violates our borders. We have no intention of ignoring or abiding terrorist attacks on our soldiers and citizens.”

Obama Aide Sent to Israel to Overthrow Netanyahu in Upcoming Elections

A top Obama aide from his 2012 election campaign is now working to defeat Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in his upcoming March election, the Daily Caller reported.
According to the report, Jeremy Bird, who served as the national field director for the president’s re-election campaign, is working with an Israel-based group called V15. The group is notoriously anti-Netanyahu and backed by the leftist One Voice organization.
The move by a top Obama aide actively working to defeat Israel’s prime minister signals a major shift in US-Israel relations. As the report asserts, “There’s little or no chance that Bird would work against Netanyahu if Obama didn’t want Netanyahu defeated in the March election.”
One Voice and V15 are expected to merge in the coming weeks. Their main goal is to “replace the government” in Israel, Haaretz reported, through similar methods that proved effective for Obama.
Led by Bird, the groups plan on recruiting thousands of volunteers across Israel to canvass homes across the country and encourage them to vote for anyone other than Netanyahu. They hope to knock on some 150,000 to 1 million doors.
It would be in Obama’s best interest should Netanyahu be deposed as prime minister. Netanyahu has voiced his objection to the president’s handling of Iran’s quest to obtain a nuclear weapon.

The prime minister was recently snubbed by Obama for agreeing to address a joint session of Congress on a bill that supports harsher sanctions on Iran. The president refused to meet with Netanyahu when he would be in Washington in March, saying that the invitation was “breaking protocol.”
Ironically, Obama also refuses to meet with Netanyahu because he does not want to be seen influencing Israeli elections, which are to take place two weeks after the prime ministers address.
A senior Obama official warned Netanyahu about what is perceived to be anti-Obama policies. “He spat in our face publicly…Netanyahu ought to remember that President Obama has a year and a half left to his presidency, and that there will be a price,” he threatened.
Bird echoed the comments, taking to Twitter where he suggested that a wealthy Jewish donor, along with the Republican party, are trying to help Netanyahu win the election.
“What do you think Adelson promised GOP in exchange for this insane BiBi House visit? Blatant attempt to bolster Israeli PM before elections,” he wrote.
Netanyahu, who has come under a harsh wave of criticism, defended his decision to speak to Congress. “As Prime Minister of Israel, I am obligated to make every effort in order to prevent Iran from achieving nuclear weapons that would be aimed at the State of Israel. This effort is worldwide and I will go anywhere I am invited in order to enunciate the State of Israel’s position and in order to defend its future and its existence,” he said on Sunday.

Iran Calls for Assassination of Netanyahu's Sons

A website affiliated with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corp (IRGC) has painted a proverbial target on the backs of the sons of the current and former prime ministers of Israel.
The threat came in response to an alleged IAF airstrike last week in Syria in which 12 Hezbollah and Iranian operatives, including an Iranian general, were killed.
Mashregh News website ran an opinion piece in which it suggested several ways Tehran could retaliate for the alleged Israeli assault. This included a “revenge operation” against Yair and Avner Netanyahu, sons of current PM Benjamin Netanyahu, along with Shaul Olmert, son of former PM Ehud Olmert, and Gilad and Omri Sharon, sons of the late prime minister Ariel Sharon.
The Netanyahu boys are shown in crosshairs on the website, in a photograph alongside their parents. The article also included detailed biographical information about the young men, although Jerusalem Online pointed out that information appeared to have been lifted from Wikipedia.

ISIS Calls on Lone Wolf Terrorists to Wage Jihad in Home Countries

The Islamic State (ISIS) terror group is calling on lone wolves to rise up and wage Jihad on the Western world.
In a posting on social media pages affiliated with ISIS, the following instructions were posted for these would-be terrorists: “Take what suits you and benefit you and we hopefully would not be denied the rewards of your good deeds. After you do your operation, stay away from your known locations, your familiar area. Don’t use phone calls before and after your operation, and don’t depend on official paperwork. You must cover your face, and you must not leave any thumb prints as your brothers of operation Charlie Hebdo did.”
Additional advice to these lone wolves sets up worst-case scenarios and encourages them to kill as many Westerners as possible.
“You must have a plan for you withdrawal after the operation is done, a clear and effective plan, so they won’t be able to trace you easily. Hurry up and move to another state immediately after your operation.
“Make sure you have your belt ready, don’t you ever allow them to catch you alive so they will torture you, become Shaheed and kill couple of them at the same time. Avoid large numbers in your operations, it will make hard for you to withdraw afterwards.”

Hezbollah-Iran Conflict: An Unwanted Development

The two rockets fired from Syria that exploded in Israel’s Golan Heights at 1 PM Tuesday signifies a new peak in tensions being felt in Israel’s northern borders. Whether tensions on Israel’s northern front continue to flare or dwindle down remains to be seen.
Tensions began to flare on January 18, after the bombing of a Hezbollah convoy on Syrian territory. Twelve people were killed in the attack; all of them Iranian and Hezbollah soldiers. The bombing was widely attributed to Israel.
Since the convoy bombing, high levels of tension have been felt all along Israel’s northern borders. The main concern is a Hezbollah retaliation that could drag Israel into an unwanted military campaign.
In a couple of incidents during the last nine days, the IDF detected suspicious movements on the Lebanese-Israeli border. The immediate suspicion was that Hezbollah terrorists were trying to infiltrate Israel. Precaution measures were taken as roads were blocked and civilians were ordered to remain at home in the Upper Galilee region.
Tamir Duadi, a volunteer at Kibbutz Manara’s Emergency Squad, spoke to Tazpit News Agency about one of those incidents.
“We were on lockdown for about 90 minutes. It is not a common event but we do get high threat levels from time to time. Since the bombing of the Hezbollah convoy, IDF forces are much more present in our region,” Duadi told Tazpit.
Dr. Ely Karmon, an expert on terror and Hezbollah from the International Institute for Counter-Terrorism at the Interdisciplinary Center in Herzliya, told Tazpit News Agency that he doesn’t think a war between Hezbollah and Israel is likely to erupt.

Obama, Biden Skipping Out on Ceremony Marking Liberation of Auschwitz

US President Barack Obama is skipping out on the 70th anniversary ceremony of the liberation of the Auschwitz concentration camp on Tuesday while other world leaders are slated to attend.
The president, who could have sent Vice President Joe Biden, has chosen to send Treasury Secretary Jack Lew as the representative of the nine person United States delegation.
Vice President Dick Cheney attended the 60th anniversary event in 2005. The White House has failed to explain why the president and vice president will not be attending.
Tuesday’s ceremony is the last expected major anniversary where a large number of Holocaust survivors, specifically those of Auschwitz, will be present.
Some 300 survivors are expected to attend, with most of them in their 90s and even older.

According to the New York Times, François Hollande of France, President Joachim Gauck of Germany and President Heinz Fischer of Austria, as well as King Philippe of Belgium, King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands and Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark are among some world leaders attending the ceremony.
Auschwitz was liberated by the Soviet army in January 1945. The Nazi killing machine murdered 1.1 million Jews alone in the camp.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said he would not attend the ceremony, citing scheduling conflicts and that he had not received an invitation. While Putin attended the 60th anniversary ceremony in 2005, relations between Russia and Poland have “soured over the conflict in Ukraine.”
Obama came under a barrage of criticism earlier this month after the president and US Secretary of State John Kerry failed to attend a solidarity march in Paris after twin terror attacks in the French capital.
The president is also being scrutinized for declining to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu when he will address Congress and the annual AIPAC summit in March.

ISIS in Israel's Backyard: Terror Group Calls for Hamas, PA Coup

Supporters of ISIS in Palestinian controlled areas in Judea, Samaria and Gaza have been distributing fliers and publications asking the local populace to fight the Palestinian backed police and militias in those areas.
The message is clear. ISIS wants to move in and overthrow Hamas and the Palestinian Authority from within.
In an attempt to expand its reach within the PA and Hamas controlled areas, the ISIS branch in “Bayt al-Maqdis,” an Arabization of the Hebrew Holy Temple and a term for Jerusalem, has begun a new PR campaign.
A new publication distributed by the group is promoting the idea to stage a coup and justifies the actions with ideological reasons. “The liar will not be left with an excuse, and the supporters will not be left with doubt,” the pamphlet reads.
The publication clearly calls for on Muslims to stage a holy war and wage Jihad. They write that it is every Muslims duty to follow in the path of Allah’s religious commandment for all to “liberate the Muslim lands.” The pamphlet repeatedly emphasize that there is an obligation to fight the police and army of “the rule of tyranny and heresy.”

Since the advent of modern Palestinian terror, the Palestinian people and its media have venerated murderers and terrorists, praising some to the point of making them into cultural heroes.
According to a recent report issued by the Israeli government, photographs are continually posted on social media pages related to Palestinian Authority leaders glorifying terror attacks against Israel.
In one such instance, the Facebook page of PA President Mahmoud Abbas, the leader of the Fatah party, “serves as a regular platform for the glorification of those who have perpetrated large-scale terrorist attacks against Israel as part of the PA’s systematic campaign of incitement, by various means and through various bodies, against Israel.”
Four recent photographs that were posted to the page praise terrorists for the efforts to kill Israelis, since the 1970’s and onwards.
In the first image, Palestinians celebrate the escalation of violence from stones to automatic rifles, with a caption that says, “We started with stones, we will end with a state.”

Netanyahu's Speech to Congress a "Sacred Duty" for "Survival" of Israel

Israel’s ambassador to the United States has defended Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s decision to address a joint session of Congress in March, calling the movie a “sacred duty” that is vital for the “survival” of the state of Israel.
Ambassador Ron Dermer, speaking at an event Sunday night, said that current nuclear talks between the P5+1 and the Islamic Republic of Iran leave the possibility for Iran to reach “threshold nuclear power.”
Reiterating Netanyahu’s stance, Dermer made clear that Israel cannot and will not accept any outcome where Iran has access to nuclear material.
“The prime minister’s visit to Washington is intended for one purpose, and one purpose only,” he told an audience at an Israel Bonds dinner in Florida. “To speak up while there is still time to speak up. To speak up when there is still time to make a difference.”
Netanyahu has come under a harsh wave of criticism for accepting an invitation from House Speak John Boehner to speak to Congress. The Obama administration called the move “unusual” and announced that the president refuses to meet with the prime minister while in Washington.

Netanyahu is expected to urge US lawmakers to pass a bill that calls for harsher sanctions against Iran should nuclear talks fail to reach an agreement by the June 30 deadline. Obama has vowed that he would veto the bill, saying that the bill would “all but guarantee that diplomacy fails.”
“The prime minister’s visit here is not intended to show any disrespect for President Obama,” Dermer added. He said that the address is in no way an attempt to “wade into your political debate.”
While an unnamed US senior official said that Netanyahu “spat” in Obama’s face by accepting Boehner’s invitation, the prime minister defended his decision on Sunday.

Israel’s ambassador to the United States has defended Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s decision to address a joint session of Congress in March, calling the movie a “sacred duty” that is vital for the “survival” of the state of Israel.
Ambassador Ron Dermer, speaking at an event Sunday night, said that current nuclear talks between the P5+1 and the Islamic Republic of Iran leave the possibility for Iran to reach “threshold nuclear power.”
Reiterating Netanyahu’s stance, Dermer made clear that Israel cannot and will not accept any outcome where Iran has access to nuclear material.
“The prime minister’s visit to Washington is intended for one purpose, and one purpose only,” he told an audience at an Israel Bonds dinner in Florida. “To speak up while there is still time to speak up. To speak up when there is still time to make a difference.”
Netanyahu has come under a harsh wave of criticism for accepting an invitation from House Speak John Boehner to speak to Congress. The Obama administration called the move “unusual” and announced that the president refuses to meet with the prime minister while in Washington.
Netanyahu is expected to urge US lawmakers to pass a bill that calls for harsher sanctions against Iran should nuclear talks fail to reach an agreement by the June 30 deadline. Obama has vowed that he would veto the bill, saying that the bill would “all but guarantee that diplomacy fails.”
“The prime minister’s visit here is not intended to show any disrespect for President Obama,” Dermer added. He said that the address is in no way an attempt to “wade into your political debate.”
While an unnamed US senior official said that Netanyahu “spat” in Obama’s face by accepting Boehner’s invitation, the prime minister defended his decision on Sunday.

Iran Vows to Arm More Terrorists Across Judea, Samaria to "Destroy Zionist Entity"

In line with its usual anti-Israel rhetoric, Iran announced that it plans on strengthening efforts to “destroy the Zionist entity.” How will the Islamic Republic carry out its plan? By arming more terrorists in Judea and Samaria.
“The arming policy of the West Bank is one of the policies of Iran and we will use all our capabilities this way,” announced Iranian Defense Minister Hossein Dehghan.
Speaking at a memorial service of General Abu Ali Tabtabai, who was killed in an IAF airstrike on Monday in Syria, the defense minister vowed revenge for the attack. Iranian sources told Kuwaiti newspaper al-Rai on Thursday that Israel knew the general and other high-level officials would be in the convoy and purposely targeted them.
Tabtabai, five other fellow Iranians belonging to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, and six Hezbollah terrorists were carrying out a reconnaissance mission in the Syrian side of the Golan Heights when the vehicles they were traveling in were struck.
Hezbollah sources told Lebanese media that the express purpose of the mission was to review the situation along the border with Israel to carry out future terror attacks.

“The Zionist attack will not be passed over,” Dehghan said. He announced that Iran would take “appropriate action” against Israel and it would only be a matter of time.
Following the airstrike, Israel’s northern border was placed on high alert. The IDF stationed extra units of soldiers along the border. The Iron Dome missile defense system was also deployed to Israel’s north in preparation for any possible rocket attacks from Lebanon.
Late Wednesday, the US issued a travel advisory to American citizens and government personnel in Israel, citing the recent rise in tensions. The advisory came on the heels of the airstrike and a terror attack in Tel Aviv on Wednesday.
“Because of concerns about security on Israel’s northern border, US government personnel are currently required to obtain advance approval if they wish to travel within 1.5 miles of the Lebanon border…” the advisory said.
The advisory also prohibited US government employees from using any form of public transportation across Israel “in light of the stabbing attack on a public bus in Tel Aviv.”

As Netanyahu Faces Growing Criticism for Upcoming Speech, Republicans Say Obama Getting Taste of Own Medicine

Some of the top anchors at Fox News have unexpectedly sided with the White House over an upcoming address by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to a joint session of Congress.
A strong supporter of Republican politics, the anchors are joining a growing wave of criticism against the prime minister over the speech. Netanyahu is expected to urge US lawmakers to support an impending bill that would punish Iran with tougher sanctions should nuclear talks with the P5+1 fail to reach an agreement.
During a live chat between Chris Wallace and Shepard Smith, the two men skewered Netanyahu. They criticized his approaching speech on March 3, which is to take place two weeks before elections in Israel.
Both agreed that Netanyahu should have coordinated his visit with the Obama administration and not through members of Congress.
Smith, quoting former US ambassador to Israel Martin Indyk, who spoke to The New York Times, said that “Netanyahu is using the Republican Congress for a photo-op for his election campaign and the Republicans are using Bibi for their campaign against Obama.”
“I think he’s a hundred percent right,” Wallace said of Indyk.

Wallace called House Speaker John Boehner’s invitation to Netanyahu “wicked” and added that he was “shocked” that Netanyahu would agree to speak.
“It seems like they think we don’t pay attention and that we’re just a bunch of complete morons – the United States citizens – as if we wouldn’t pick up on what’s happening here,” Smith said.
Republicans, for their part, remain unapologetic. Senator John McCain (R-AZ) told the media that US President Barack Obama was receiving a taste of his own medicine. He called the invitation “a great idea” in the wake of Obama’s threats to push through a unilateral police on Iran without compromising with Congress.
“He’s basically said, ‘I’m going to do my thing, you do your thing.’ We got it, we got the message,” the senator said.

The prime minister has maintained a more hawkish approach, calling for tougher sanctions in the face of the repeatedly failing talks. Israeli officials defended Netanyahu’s decision, saying that Obama appears to be settling to compromise with Tehran.
At the start of the weekly cabinet meeting on Sunday, Netanyahu stated: “As Prime Minister of Israel, I am obligated to make every effort in order to prevent Iran from achieving nuclear weapons that would be aimed at the State of Israel. On Friday, things heated up between Netanyahu and Washington when an unnamed senior Obama official said that the prime minister “spat in our face” by agreeing to address Congress. A second official told Channel 2 that Netanyahu would be “hard to trust” following the incident.
Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry have already announced that they refuse to meet with Netanyahu while he is in the US. The prime minister will also be addressing the annual AIPAC conference while in Washington.
Citing a “long-standing practice and principal,” the White House said that the president will “not see heads of state or candidates in close proximity to their elections, so as to avoid the appearance of influencing a democratic election in a foreign country.”
According to a Times of Israel report, while Obama has not met face-to-face with world leaders prior to elections, previous administrations have.
In 1996, then Israeli Prime Minister Shimon Peres visited the Clinton White House, less than a month before elections. He was also in Washington to address the AIPAC conference. In the face of a growing series of terror attacks and an almost non-existent popularity rating, Peres and Clinton signed an anti-terrorism agreement at a special three-part photo-op ceremony.

Creeping Anti-Israelism in the Evangelical Movement

The tentacles of anti-Jewish fervor are seemingly everywhere. Not even the American Church is immune from the sickness of anti-Semitism, and tracing the networks can be a fascinating exercise. They are so diverse, and so unequally yoked in various ways. But they are all linked by a dislike of Jews and Israel.
I live in a small town in the American South. A few years ago, I stopped at a convenience store and noticed on the counter a tabloid newspaper. I picked up a copy and when I got home, realized it was a white-supremacist rag, liberally sprinkled with anti-Jewish propaganda. In fact, it felt a lot like classic, medieval anti-Semitism, which never really went out of style.
So it is that I spend much of my time now researching the decline of Israel support, specifically within American Evangelicalism, once a stronghold of support for the Jewish state.
From visits to captured Palestinian weaponry and propaganda literature displayed in Israel, to sitting in on evangelical leadership conferences that feature anti-Israel speakers, watching the erosion of support for Israel is jarring.
A friend sent me a link recently to a blog, “Mondoweiss,” which claims to be
“a news website devoted to covering American foreign policy in the Middle East, chiefly from a progressive Jewish perspective.”
This particular link featured an essay by Marc Ellis, the retired professor (Baylor University) who now is able to devote more time to his anti-Israel obsession, including routine comparisons between Israel and the Third Reich.
Leading was an endorsement from none other than Dr. Cornel West:
“Anytime I think of my brother Marc Ellis, I think of quiet dignity, spiritual integrity, moral consistency, fierce fortitude, and an unstoppable determination to tell the truth, expose lies, and bear witness.”
The title of this particular piece, “Burning Children: A Jewish View of the War in Gaza,” tells you all you need to know about Ellis’s view of Israelis. What I find especially notable is the similar tone to that of pieces penned by “evangelical” leaders like Donald Miller and Lynne Hybels.
Therein lies a most interesting link.
Miller, an author of some fame (“Blue Like Jazz”), and Hybels, co-founder of the powerful Willow Creek Association, have both spoken at Catalyst conferences. Catalyst staff and organizers work hard to present the organization as the evangelical leadership conduit. The powerful networking features three large conferences each year (in southern California, Dallas, and Atlanta, thus blanketing the country), where an eclectic bunch of center-left speakers engage 50,000 senior pastors and other church staff. The Catalyst database features many thousands more pastors who receive resources.
At Catalyst Atlanta, in 2012, Hybels spoke, and the title of her talk, “We Belong to Each Other: Americans, Israelis and Palestinians for Peace,” implied a non-violent form of protest of the “occupation,” yet she decried the presence of the IDF in the territories, spoke of the negative impact of the security fence, and alleged that Palestinians lack water sources. Her slide titled “1967 Six-Day War” stated: “Israeli Military Occupation of the West Bank and Gaza begins.”
All standard PLO fare.
Hybels isn’t the only Palestinian advocate to address church audiences. At the 2011 meeting of the Evangelicals for Middle East Understanding (EMEU) in California, Anglican vicar Stephen Sizer spoke; Sizer is perhaps the biggest critic of Israel and its friends — notably, Christian Zionists — in the world.
The entire conference was devoid of any context: no mention of the Arab invasion of Israel in 1948, or the context of the Six-Day War or ’73 War. Additionally, several anti-Semitic undertones were evident. Near the conclusion of the conference, Don Wagner (formerly a professor at Chicago’s Northpark Seminary) told what some described as a joke:
“Several of the Christian Zionist Republican candidates were told by the media just before a debate that Gaddafi had been shot through the temple.” “Oh, my God,” said one, “I didn’t know he was Jewish!”
Such talk is becoming standard at Christian conferences around the country.
In 2011, Catalyst invited Cornel West, the radical Princeton professor, to address its Atlanta gathering, via video link.
How odd, I thought. Why would ostensibly evangelical leaders invite a man who describes himself as a “non-Marxist socialist”?
(You know what that means, don’t you? He’s a Marxist.)
So I asked Catalyst director Brad Lomenick. Four times.
No answer.
Finally, I asked him in person at Catalyst Dallas in May 2014. He passed me along to the new director, Tyler Reagin, who, as it turns out, also didn’t have the time to answer my question.
Catalyst doesn’t want rank-and-file evangelicals figuring out what some of us who have attended conferences already know: they are left-wing.
Consider the intro to West’s bio from 2011, posted on the Catalyst site:
“Cornel West is a prominent and provocative democratic intellectual.”
In David Horowitz’s book, “Radicals,” he discusses the vapid nature of West’s resume. Would that the evangelical Christian leaders mainstreaming West knew this.
Instructive for these evangelical leaders is Horowitz’s observation of West cloaking himself in religious language:
A tireless self-promoter, West habitually refers to himself and his work as “prophetic” (e.g., “I am a prophetic Christian freedom fighter”), and has put the words “prophetic” or “prophesy” in the titles of four of his books, including a collection of casual pieces and book reviews he called Prophetic Fragments, as though Ezekiel was his soul mate and the parchments containing his wisdom had been eaten by the sands of time.
This is an important point because Cornel West is at best a radical socialist, yet Christian leaders are embracing him. It has been announced that West will speak at the “Justice Conference” in Chicago in June, along with mainstream evangelicals Lynne Hybels, Bob Goff, and Louie Giglio. This is shocking, given the alleged ideological divide between evangelicals and leftists.
It is the empty nature of West’s accolades that rankles true evangelicals, who recognize the left’s infiltration of the community. As Horowitz notes:
Who is this man who has been elevated to such prominence by cultural arbiters high and low? His newly published autobiography, Brother West: Living and Loving Out Loud (and don’t even attempt to parse that title), answers the question with an epigraph, which is a citation from himself:
“I’m a bluesman in the life of the mind, and a
jazzman in the world of ideas.”—Cornel West
Like many sentences West writes, this catchy phrase is a substitute for thought that does not make any sense. “But what does it mean to be a bluesman in the life of the mind?”
Good question, but it doesn’t matter to Christian leaders determined to expose young leaders and laypersons to leftist ideology. Further, West’s anti-Semitic ties are deeply disturbing.
“Radicals” clues us in on West’s view of Jews:
He was a celebrity sponsor of the 2012 “Global March to Jerusalem,” an attack organized by Islamist Iran on the Jewish state. He has been a frequent speaker at the black liberation church of another sponsor of the Global March, Jeremiah Wright, the notorious anti-Semite and race-hater whom West regards as “my dear brother” and “a prophetic Christian preacher.”
What conservatives need to understand is that these demonstrations of hate mongering are no longer confined to the academic community. They are now being mainstreamed even to the Bible Belt. Consider that Donald Miller has written about Israel, even accusing the IDF of war crimes (murdering Palestinian women and children), and Hybels traverses the country speaking up for the Palestinian narrative.
Truly, the research presented in Paul Kengor’s important book, “Dupes,” rings true. For 80 years, totalitarians (mostly the Soviets) worked long and hard to undermine American from within. While we were watching our shores, we didn’t realize that the corrosive effects of Marxism were permeating our universities and even seminaries. They have now reached full flower, which bodes ill for freedom-loving Americans and their close friend and ally, Israel.
The biggest under-reported story in America today is the co-opting of the evangelical Christian community by the Palestinian propagandists. It will get worse.
In this brave new world, we find ourselves oppressed by the views of West targeting the West.

Hamas Forms "Liberation Army" in Gaza, Thanks to EU Support

The Palestinian Islamist movement in the Gaza Strip, Hamas, has intensified its efforts to achieve the destruction of Israel. Buoyed by the recent decision of the EU’s top court to remove Hamas from the EU’s list of terror groups, Hamas has intensified its efforts to achieve the destruction of Israel.
Hamas has obviously interpreted these two decisions — by the EU court (to remove Hamas from the list of terror organizations) and the International Criminal Court — as a green light to proceed with its plans to eliminate Israel.
The main goal of Hamas’s “Liberation Army” is, of course, to prepare for war against Israel, according to Hamas spokesman, Mushir al-Masri. “The main purpose of these training camps is to prepare an army for the liberation of Palestine and its holy sites in the near future.”
The EU court that removed Hamas from its list of terror groups has committed a crime not only against Israel, but also against the Palestinian teenagers who are being trained as jihadists in the movement’s camps throughout the Gaza Strip.
The happy feeling among Hamas leaders is that the Europeans and the ICC are helping them achieve their goal of wiping Israel off the face of the earth.

It is revealing that the U.S. appears determined to provide the Palestinian Authority with an army while it is still at war with our ally, Israel.
Last week, officials from the U.S. Consulate in East Jerusalem attended a Palestinian protest over Israel’s removal of olive trees illegally planted in the West Bank. Coordinated with the Palestinian Authority [PA] but not Israel, the Consulate personnel ended up clashing with Israelis living nearby. It was, perhaps, the quietest international almost-incident you never heard of.
This week, with the focus off Paris, the Middle East Quartet (the U.S., EU, Russia & the UN) plans to meet. The U.S. Consulate’s determination to provide the trappings of Palestinian statehood to the PA outside the negotiating process should come under scrutiny.
The olive tree incident prompted an article in the Israeli press about the Consulate, including the use of Palestinian security, rather than IDF combat veterans as required by a 2011 agreement. Some IDF guards were fired, according to the article. Others resigned, blaming the appointment of a new consulate security officer, who they said, established a Palestinian armed militia. “He is training them with weapons, combat and tactical exercises. There is a lack of responsibility here – who ensures that such weapons, once given over to Palestinian guards, won’t make their way to terror groups?”

Italy: Muslims Destroy and Urinate on Virgin Mary Statue

Friday, January 9 A man was kneeling in prayer before the statue of the revered Madonna, with the photograph of a loved one in hand, in the small chapel of St. Barnabas in Perugia (Italy), when he was attacked by five “immigrants.”
The first thing they did was rip the photo from his hands.
Next they unleashed their hatred against the image of the Virgin Mary. They broke the statue to pieces and then urinated on it.
Don Scarda, pastor of St. Barnabas, said the event was led by five “foreigners.” By the time police arrived at the chapel, the unidentified attackers had already fled.
The incident has caused a stir among locals. Some have lambasted Pope Francis who is accused of appeasing immigrants—mostly Muslims—to wild extremes. Earlier he had said that “Migrants, through their own humanity, cultural values, expand the sense of human brotherhood.”
Although the Diocese condemned the act of sacrilege against the Madonna statue, it also followed the Pope’s lead by absolving Islam of any responsibility for what happened.
In the words of Monsignor Paolo Giulietti, the auxiliary bishop of Città della Pieve, near Perugia:
For Islam, the figure of Mary is very important: she is the mother of the Prophet Jesus conceived in virginity, and the Blessed Virgin is the most holy woman. Muslims pray at the Marian shrines in the Middle East. We cannot see in this act of vandalism—which as I said is wrong in every way—an episode of religious hatred. It is important not to feed mutual suspicion, especially at this time.
Meanwhile, Pope Francis has called on Catholics and Western people in general to refrain from insulting other religions—namely Islam: “It’s normal, it’s normal [violence]. One cannot provoke, one cannot insult other people’s faith, one cannot make fun of faith.”
He made these statements on January 16, apparently in reference to the Charlie Hebdo massacre, when armed Muslims killed a dozen non-Muslims working for a satirical magazine that had mocked Islamic prophet Muhammad.
One wonders if the Pope would be as “understanding” towards members of his own flock if they were to murder those who urinated on the Virgin statue?

European 'No-Go' Zones: Fact or Fiction?

A 120-page research paper entitled “No-Go Zones in the French Republic: Myth or Reality?” documented dozens of French neighborhoods “where police and gendarmerie cannot enforce the Republican order or even enter without risking confrontation, projectiles, or even fatal shootings.”
n October 2011, a 2,200-page report, “Banlieue de la République” (Suburbs of the Republic) found that Seine-Saint-Denis and other Parisian suburbs are becoming “separate Islamic societies” cut off from the French state and where Islamic Sharia law is rapidly displacing French civil law.
The report also showed how the problem is being exacerbated by radical Muslim preachers who are promoting the social marginalization of Muslim immigrants in order to create a parallel Muslim society in France that is ruled by Sharia law.
The television presenter asks: “What if we went to the suburbs?” Obertone replies: “I do not recommend this. Not even we French dare go there anymore. But nobody talks about this in public, of course. Nor do those who claim, ‘long live multiculturalism,’ and ‘Paris is wonderful!’ dare enter the suburbs.”
The jihadist attack on the Paris offices of Charlie Hebdo, a French magazine known for lampooning Islam, has cast a spotlight on so-called no-go zones in France and other European countries.
No-go zones are Muslim-dominated neighborhoods that are largely off limits to non-Muslims due to a variety of factors, including the lawlessness and insecurity that pervades a great number of these areas. Host-country authorities have effectively lost control over many no-go zones and are often unable or unwilling to provide even basic public aid, such as police, fire fighting and ambulance services, out of fear of being attacked by Muslim youth.

The Answer to French Anti-Semitism

French Prime Minister Manuel Valls gave a stirring denunciation of anti-Semitism, and demanded that his people stop treating it as someone else’s problem...Valls words were uplifting. But it is hard to see how they change the basic reality that the Jews of France face.
January 16 is the nine-year anniversary of the beginning of the Ilan Halimi disaster.
On January 16, 2006, Sorour Arbabzadeh, the seductress from the Muslim anti-Jewish kidnapping gang led by Youssouf Fofana, entered the cellphone store where Halimi worked and set the honey trap.
Four days later, Halimi met Arbabzadeh for a drink at a working class bar and agreed to walk her home. She walked him straight into an ambush. Her comrades beat him, bound him and threw him into the trunk of their car.
They brought Halimi to a slum apartment and tortured him for 24 days and 24 nights before dumping him, handcuffed, naked, stabbed and suffering from third degree burns over two-thirds of his body, at a railway siding in Paris.
He died a few hours later in the hospital.
In an impassioned address to the French parliament on Tuesday, Prime Minister Manuel Valls gave a stirring denunciation of anti-Semitism, and demanded that his people stop treating it as someone else’s problem.
In his words, “Since Ilan Halimi in 2006… anti-Semitic acts in France have grown to an intolerable degree. The words, the insults, the gestures, the shameful attacks… did not produce the national outrage that our Jewish compatriots expected.”

Any debate on Islam in Muslim countries and among Muslim communities in the West is like stepping into a minefield. When it comes to the media outlets and academe, for the most part, the subject of Islam sparks a convoluted and apologetic discourse; on the social networks, on the other hand, the discourse it prompts is a racist one.
The thing is there’s a problem. It’s hissing and bubbling. Many Muslims realize there’s a problem. The Egyptian president spoke recently of “a need to effect a substantial change in Islam.” And in 2004, Abdulrahman al-Rashed, the former general manager of the al-Arabiya television news channel, said: “It is a certain fact that not all Muslims are terrorists, but it is equally certain, and exceptionally painful, that almost all terrorists are Muslims.”
The problem is not a handful of Jihadists involved in terrorism. The problem is that the Muslim world in recent years has produced most of the high-casualty conflicts across the globe. The Muslim world struggles to embrace universal values, such as the status of women. And the problem extends to the free world. Entire neighborhoods in Europe are becoming “no-go zones” for veteran residents, and the police too in some cases.
Rotterdam Mayor Ahmed Aboutaleb stated that the major problem was resistance to integration. The percentage of social misfits and individuals opposed to integration is higher among the Muslim communities than among the other minorities. In addition, many of the world’s Muslims, even those who live in the West, want to see Sharia law in effect, not only for themselves, but also forcibly for others. They are basically saying in the clearest of terms: We have come here to impose our values on you.
According to a 2013 survey conducted by the Pew Research Center, 71 percent of Jordanians, 74 percent of Egyptians and 89 percent of the residents of the Palestinian Authority support enforcing Sharia law – with the emphasis on the enforcement.
The WZB Berlin Social Science Center conducted a similar survey on the viewpoints of Muslims in Western Europe. The findings show that 65 percent support the implementation of Sharia law, with 75 percent stating that Sharia has only one interpretation. And there are numerous and various surveys that reveal far more worrying data. One such poll, which made waves recently, determined that 27 percent of the Muslims in France support Islamic State. OK, so some surveys may be a little suspect; but the serious ones clearly show that the picture is bleak even without the need for any exaggeration.
Most polls reveal another alarming finding – support for fundamentalism, Islamic State or terrorism is higher among second and third-generation Muslims. The trend, thus, is not one of integration, but of radicalization and Islamization instead. True, we’re talking about a minority; nevertheless, the bottom line is that millions in Europe support, at some level or another, the fundamental notion of the global Jihad – the establishment of an Islamic caliphate. They fall into the same ideological expanse as the Taliban, Hamas, Islamic State and Boko Haram.

Studies conducted in almost every country in Western Europe show that an individual with a Muslim name has less chance of securing a job than someone with a local name. Fear of Muslims and Islam is on the rise. A survey conducted in Germany reveals that 70 percent of Germans believe that there is a clash between Islam and the values of the West. A similar survey reveals that 74 percent of French citizens think that “Islam is not compatible with the values of French society,” with some 76 percent of Brits expressing the same sentiment.

The White House is red-hot angry over Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s plan to speak before the US Congress in March.
The invitation to address a joint session of Congress was issued by Republican House Speak John Boehner in what Obama officials say is “breach of protocol.” Usually, invitations are extended through the State Department via consultation with the White House.
Reminiscent of “Chickenshit-Gate,” US officials told Ha’aretz on Friday that the Israeli leader had “spat” in the president’s face in accepting the invitation.
“We thought we’ve seen everything,” an unnamed senior US official said. “But Bibi managed to surprise even us.”
“There are things you simply don’t do. He spat in our face publicly and that’s no way to behave. Netanyahu ought to remember that President Obama has a year and a half left to his presidency, and that there will be a price,” he said.

The White House confirmed on Thursday that both the president and Secretary of State John Kerry will not meet with Netanyahu when he travels to Washington. A spokesman cited a “long-standing practice and principle” in which a president does not meet with heads of state close to election season.
Netanyahu is scheduled to address Congress on March 3. He was originally slated to appear before Congress on February 11 but changed the date so that he could attend the annual AIPAC conference.
The visit is meant to bolster support for a bill being pushed through Congress to impose harsher sanctions on Iran should nuclear talks with the P5+1 fail to reach an agreement by the June deadline.
President Obama threatened that he would veto the bill should it pass approval by US lawmakers. In his recent State of the Union address, he said that the bill would “all but guarantee that diplomacy fails.”

Satellite Images Confirm Iran in Possession of Missiles that Can Reach "Far Beyond Europe"

Israeli television broadcast what it said were the first satellite images seen in the West of a 27-meter (over 88-foot) missile on a launch pad in Tehran. A missile that large, the report claimed, could reach “far beyond Europe”.
The news report was broadcast by Israel’s Channel 2 Wednesday. According to the report, the missile is capable of launching a spacecraft – or carrying a conventional or non-conventional warhead great distances.
Channel 2 showed satellite images documenting Iran’s “very rapid progress” in the field of long-range missile manufacture. One photograph was of a site near Tehran, which the West has been aware of for two years now, where the Iranians are working on engines for long-range missiles.
The second photo, depicting the missile on its launch pad, was of a secondary site nearby, one the news channel said the West had not seen before.
The photographs were courtesy of the Eros B commercial Earth observation satellite, designed and built by Israel Aircraft Industries, and owned by Israeli firm ImageSat International. The Eros B was launched into orbit in 2006.
Israel has long been warning the West of Iran’s nuclear ambitions. It has publicly condemned any negotiations with Iran which would leave the Islamic Republic with the capability of enriching its own uranium. Iran maintains it wishes to enrich uranium for peaceful purposes, but this has not stopped its various officials from threatening to wipe Israel off the map over the years.

Western Female Jihadis Recruiting for ISIS

Female Jihadi fighters from the United Kingdom have taken an active role in recruiting supporters and encouraging terrorism, reported The Guardian on Saturday. The report was cited by Israel Hayom.
Researchers at the International Centre for the Study of Radicalisation (ICSR) at King’s College London monitored the social media accounts of roughly 30 of the 70 women known to be fighting for the Islamic State (ISIS) in Iraq and Syria.
The probe uncovered that the women were drumming up support, encouraging terror attacks abroad, and praising recent attacks such as the shooting spree in Paris which killed 12 at the Charlie Hebdo satirical publication and another four at a kosher supermarket.
Melanie Smith, a researcher at ICSR, explained that until now, it was thought women were confined by ISIS to traditional roles, such as cooking and housekeeping. ISIS requires women to wear the niqab, traditional Arab garb which covers them completely, denies females education and otherwise suppresses their rights. This probe revealed a different situation.

Israel Launches Campaign to Discredit the ICC

The Israeli government has launched a public diplomacy campaign to discredit the legitimacy of the International Criminal Court’s (ICC) recent decision to start an inquiry into what the Palestinians call Israeli “war crimes” in the disputed territories.
According to ICC prosecutor Fatou Bensouda, the inquiry—which was initiated after a request by the Palestinian Authority (PA)—is not a formal investigation, but rather “a process of examining the information available in order to reach a fully informed determination on whether there is a reasonable basis to proceed with an investigation pursuant to the criteria established by the [ICC’s] Rome Statute.”
Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas recently signed the Rome Statute in order to join the ICC after failing to get a U.N. Security Council resolution passed that called for Israel’s withdrawal from the disputed territories by 2017.
Israel’s campaign against the ICC inquiry will focus on the fact that the because the charges were filed by the PA, which is not a state, the court has no authority to act. In addition, the campaign will point out the court’s bias against Israel—a country on the frontline of the war against global terrorism that makes sure to abide by international law by way of an independent legal system.

Hamas is testing a new generation of home-made rockets and rebuilding its network of underground terror tunnels, The Times of London reported this week.
Citing unnamed Israeli intelligence officials, the paper stated test rockets fired into the Mediterranean since September are seen as evidence that Hamas is trying to expand its weapons capabilities. According to Israeli media, officials confirmed the British report Monday, and the Israel Defense Forces backed it Tuesday.
Last summer’s Operation Protective Edge ended in a tense ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, and Israel’s defense establishment believes it was successful in deterring Hamas from another engagement in the near future. However, a mere three months later, it seems the terror organization had sufficiently rehabilitated its infrastructure to begin preparing for another onslaught.
Since September 16, Hamas has been firing test rockets towards the sea. The rockets have been registering on the Iron Dome radar system, setting off Red Alert alarms across Gaza border communities.

In a dramatic and opposite response to the Charlie Hebdo attacks from the rest of the civilized world, over 200 Salafis in Gaza held a protest in support of the terrorists who killed over 17 people in France.
The demonstration, which took place Monday, was in protest of the French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo’s insults offered to the prophet Mohammed by depicting his caricature.
Held outside the French Cultural Institute in Gaza, protesters shouted threats against French citizens and waved signs in support of the Kouachi brothers and Amedy Coulibaly, the three were the terrorists who perpetrated the attack on Charlie Hebdo and a Paris kosher supermarket.
Protesters lit a fire at the entrance to the institute and attempted to storm the building. Hamas police forces held them back.
Slogans such as “Curse France”, and “We are going to cut off your products and then cut off your heads,” were shouted by the crowd. Another chilling slogan was a direct threat aimed at French citizens in Gaza: “Frenchmen, leave Gaza or else we will slaughter you”.

In an unusual move, Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency has warned US officials against supporting a congressional bill that would hit Iran with new sanctions should nuclear talks fail, Bloomberg reported.

The bill, which is sponsored by Senators Robert Menendez (D-NJ) and Mark Kirk (R-IL), seeks to punish the Islamic Republic should it fail to reach an agreement with the P5+1 by the June deadline.

The Mossad’s warning, which sharply diverges from the formal position of the Israeli government, said that the bill could lead to the collapse of nuclear talk’s altogether.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has backed the bill, which US President Barack Obama has threatened to veto. Obama has argued against any new measures against Iran, saying that current sanctions are already weighing down on the Islamic Republic and could torpedo current talks.

In his recent State of the Union address on Tuesday, Obama vowed that he would veto the sanctions bill. The president said that the bill would “all but guarantee that diplomacy fails.”

“Between now and this spring, we have a chance to negotiate a comprehensive agreement that prevents a nuclear-armed Iran, secures America and our allies – including Israel – while avoiding yet another Middle East conflict,” Obama stated.

“There are no guarantees that negotiations will succeed, and I keep all option on the table to prevent a nuclear Iran,” he continued. “But new sanctions passed by this Congress, at this moment in time, will all but guarantee that diplomacy fails.”

The sanctions bill was first introduced to Congress in December 2013, but ultimately failed to reach the then Democrat-controlled Senate. Now, with the Republican Party in control of the chamber, Kirk and Menendez are hoping to push the bill through.

According to the report, two unnamed senior US officials confirmed that the Mossad’s assessment was in line with that of the US intelligence community.

“We’ve had a standing assessment on this,” an official stated. “We haven’t run the new Kirk-Menendez bill through the process, but the point is that any bill that triggers sanctions would collapse the talks. That’s what the assessment is.”

US Secretary of State John Kerry reportedly said an Israeli intelligence officials described the sanctions bill as “throwing a grenade into the process,” the report stated.

Menendez, who has been fighting fiercely for his bill, criticized Obama for threatening to veto the bill. Reportedly, he was displeased by the Mossad’s intervention and contacted Israel’s ambassador to the US Ron Dermer for an official explanation.

US lawmakers are working on a separate bill that would require congressional approval on any final agreements with Iran. Sponsored by Senator Bob Corker (R-TN), the bill aims to make sure Obama negotiators take a hard line stance with Tehran.

“There’s continual efforts to try to figure out a way for Congress to play a role to strengthen whatever final deal may occur,” Corker told Reuters.

In response to Obama’s threats, Republican speaker of the House John Boehner invited Netanyahu to address a joint session of Congress. The invite prompted an angry response from the White House, saying the invitation was “a departure from protocol.”

Boehner invites Netanyahu to address Congress on Iran, after Obama veto threat
House Speaker John Boehner announced Wednesday he is inviting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to address Congress next month about the threat from Iran, in a sharp rebuke to President Obama.
Such invitations typically are coordinated with the White House and State Department, but this one was not. The House speaker's office said Netanyahu will be invited to speak Feb. 11 before a joint session of Congress. The invitation comes as lawmakers weigh legislation, supported by Republicans and some Democrats, to tee up more sanctions against Iran in case negotiations fail to curtail the country's nuclear enrichment program.
Obama vowed Tuesday during his State of the Union address to veto any such legislation. But Boehner signaled he wants Netanyahu to explain the stakes of the debate, as he pledged to press ahead with the legislation.
“Prime Minister Netanyahu is a great friend of our country, and this invitation carries with it our unwavering commitment to the security and well-being of his people,” Boehner said in a statement. “In this time of challenge, I am asking the prime minister to address Congress on the grave threats radical Islam and Iran pose to our security and way of life.”
Critics of Obama and his foreign policy say the president has failed to keep close ties to Israel, a long-time U.S. ally and a key country in providing Middle East stability. Among their concerns is that the Obama administration has not done enough to curb Iran's suspected pursuit of a nuclear weapon.
In his State of the Union address, Obama warned that legislation setting new potential sanctions would "all but guarantee that diplomacy fails."
But Boehner told members of the GOP House Conference on Wednesday morning: “The president warned us not to move ahead with sanctions on Iran, a state sponsor of terror. His exact message to us was: 'Hold your fire.' He expects us to stand idly by and do nothing while he cuts a bad deal with Iran. Two words: 'Hell no'."
He said: "Let’s send a clear message to the White House – and the world – about our commitment to Israel and our allies.”

Aside from the sanctions bill, a Senate committee was considering a separate bill on Wednesday that would give Congress a vote on any nuclear deal.
The United States and five other world powers have reached a tentative deal with Iran. The countries are trying to reach a final deal by June 15.
If Netanyahu accepts the invitation, it would be his third appearance before a joint session of Congress and his second during Boehner’s speakership.
His previous addresses were in July 1996 and May 2011. Other Israeli prime ministers to address Congress include Ehud Olmert, Shimon Peres and Yitzhak Rabin, according to Boehner’s office.

12 Israelis wounded in stabbing attack on Tel Aviv bus

12 Israelis were wounded in a stabbing attack on a Tel Aviv bus on Wednesday morning, three of them seriously.
The assailant is named Hamza Mohammed Hasan Matrouk, a 23-year-old male from the West Bank city of Tul Karm who entered Israel illegally, was shot in the leg by an Israel Prison Service officer on Hamasger Street, near the scene of the incident. After being taken into custody, Matrouk was taken to the hospital for treatment and further police and Shin Bet questioning.
Palestinian sources say he does not belong to any group or organization.
The attack took place on Bus number 40 on Menachem Begin Road, a major thoroughfare in Tel Aviv, near the Ma'ariv Bridge. Three other people were moderately wounded, and five of the casualties were in light condition, according to Magen David Adom emergency services. A further five were suffering from shock.
The stabbing is being treated as a "terror attack," Israel Police foreign press spokesman Micky Rosenfeld wrote on Twitter.
According to a preliminary investigation, the assailant got to Tel Aviv on Wednesday morning and boarded the bus at the Old Central Bus Station, a short distance from the scene of the attack. After the bus passed two stops and more passengers got on, the attacker took out a knife and started stabbing people. Given that the perpetrator bought the knife in the West Bank, he will be brought before a military court in Ariel. As he is still in hospital with the wound to his leg, he wasn't taken to court on Wednesday. His detention will be extended by 96 hours.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu blamed the Palestinian Authority for the attack, saying it was a "direct result of the Palestinian Authority's venomous incitement against the Jews and their state. The same terror tries to hurt us in Paris, Brussels and everywhere," he said.

Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman, meanwhile, condemned all the Palestinian and Israeli Arab leadership, stating that those behind the attack "stand behind the Rahat riots," and Jerusalem attacks: Abu Mazen [Mahmoud Abbas], [Ismail] Haniyeh, Raed Saleh, Haneen Zoabi, Ahmed Tibi and their partners. It's all part of the same process of undermining Israel's right to exist as a Jewish state."
Habayit Hayehudi leader Economy Minister Naftali Bennett also blamed Abbas for the attack. Labor leader Isaac Herzog, meanwhile, said that Israelis don't feel safe in Israel today.
Izzat al-Risheq, a member of Hamas' political bureau, described the attack as a "heroic act."

UN TO HOLD FIRST EVER MEETING ON ANTI SEMITISM

World powers are taking the first step in combating the global plague of anti-Semitism.
For the first time in history, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) will hold a meeting on global anti-Semitism. This unique session is to take place on January 22 and will be broadcast live from UN headquarters.
The Israeli-led initiative was joined by 37 countries, including the US, Canada, Australia and all members of the European Union.

A spokesperson for UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon told reporters on Tuesday that either Ban or the deputy secretary-general will attend, “depending on availability.”
Israeli Ambassador to the UN Ron Prosor stated: “It says a lot that so many countries have partnered with Israel to raise this issue of anti-Semitism to the top of the UN’s agenda. We have a great deal of work to do to move this issue from the headlines to the history books.”
The Jerusalem Post reports that famous French philosopher Bernard-Henri Lévy will deliver a keynote address in the wake of the Muslim terror attacks on French magazine Charlie Hebdo and the Hyper Cacher supermarket in Paris.

Europe has experienced a surge in anti-Semitism in recent years, and especially in France, where anti-Semitic attacks are up by 312 percent.
A World Zionist Organization study in August found that the number of anti-Semitic incidents in the world jumped by 383 percent in July as compared to the same month the previous year, with Europe showing a 436-percent increase. Part of the spike in the attacks was related to Operation Protective Edge.

Iron Dome Deployed Along Israel’s Northern Border as IDF Placed on High Alert

IDF troops stationed along the northern border of Israel were put on high alert Monday as the country braced for possible retaliation by Hezbollah following an IAF airstrike that killed six of the group’s operatives.
IDF Chief of Staff Benny Gantz confirmed late Monday that the army was monitoring developments along the border and preparing for possible attacks.
“The IDF is prepared, tracking all developments, and ready to act as needed,” Gantz stated. “This statement is not simply a speech – it’s a matter of real operation preparedness.”
The chief of staff did not comment on the airstrike, which the IDF has yet to claim or deny responsibility. Aside from six Hezbollah operatives, several Iranian fighters, including an Iranian Revolutionary Guard commander, were killed in the strike.
In the north, additional IDF units were posted along the border and told to stand guard in fighting condition. Media reports indicate that several Iron Dome missile defense batteries were deployed and active in anticipation of a rocket attack by Hezbollah.
Israeli farmers whose fields are near the border were told to stay home by the IDF, Channel 10 reported.

Last Thursday, Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah announced that the terror group obtained Fateh-110 missiles, which can a maximum range of 200 kilometers (125 miles) and can hit any point in Israel.
Sources inside Hezbollah told foreign media that the group would retaliate but restrain itself enough to not provoke a full blown war with Israel.
Hezbollah vowed revenge for the airstrike, which killed one of its commanders, 25-year-old Jihad Mughniyeh. Jihad is the son of Imad Mughniyeh, a senior Hezbollah commander who was killed in Damascus in 2008.
Jihad Mughniyeh was the Shiite groups Golan District commander and was on a reconnaissance in the Quneitra region in Syria with fellow Hezbollah operatives and Iranian counterparts.
“While a group of Hezbollah fighters were on a field inspection of the town, Mazrat al-Amal… They faced rocket shelling from helicopters of the Israeli enemy, leading to the martyrdom of a number of holy warrior brothers…” Hezbollah said in a statement.
Thousands of Hezbollah supporters flooded the streets of Beirut on Monday as Mughniyeh was buried. Protestors pumped their fists angrily in the air, chanting “Death to Israel.”

Following the recent massacre at the Charlie Hebdo magazine in Paris, which is known to publish caricatures of the Prophet Mohammed, Choudary penned an open letter called “People know the consequences.” He argued that “Muslims do not believe in the concept of freedom of expression” because they submit themselves to Allah and that the terror attack was “inevitable.”
In a 60 Minutes interview in November, the radical cleric proclaimed that “Islam is superior” and called media “propaganda for Western regimes.”
“While the world continues to define what the ‘real Islam’ is, this interview makes it quite clear that it’s not up to us infidels to make that claim one way or the other,” Gimpel said. “I don’t care about what the real Islam is, I care deeply what the people with the guns and the bombs think the real Islam is.”

Choudary has been accused of inciting Muslims to carry out terror attacks against Western countries, as well as encouraging membership to the Islamic State terror group. He has denied all these claims.
“Ultimately, this was a religious encounter and our last words to Anjem were that our Jewish return to Jerusalem and our thriving lives in Israel as envisioned by the Prophets contrasted to his life in England is the strongest testimony that God is with us,” Gimpel said.

Six Hezbollah terrorists, including a senior commander, were killed in an Israeli airstrike in the Syrian Golan Heights on Sunday, the terror group confirmed.
Hezbollah confirmed that six of its fighters were killed in the helicopter airstrike. Among the dead was 25-year-old Jihad Mughniyeah, son of Imad Mughniyeh, a senior Hezbollah commander who was killed in Damascus in 2008. Jihad Mughniyeah is believed to have been Hezbollah’s Golan District commander.
Mohammed Issa, 43, a commander; Abbas Ibrahim Hijazi, 36; Mohammed Ali Hassan Abu Al-Hassan, 30; Razi Ali Dawi, 27; and Ali Hassan Ibrahim, 22, are also confirmed to have been killed in the strike.
“A group of Hezbollah mujahedeen were martyred in a Zionist rocket attack in Quneitra, and their names will be revealed later,” a message on Hezbollah’s Al-Manar news channel stated.
Late Monday, it was also revealed that aside from the six Hezbollah terrorists, six Iranian field operatives belonging to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corp were killed in the strike as well.
“General Mohammad Ali Allahdadi and a number of fighters and Islamic Resistance (Hezbollah) forces were attacked by the Zionist regime’s helicopters,” said a statement on the Guards’ website. “This brave general and some members of Hezbollah were martyred.”

According to Hezbollah, the men were killed during what they said was a reconnaissance mission in the Mazraat Amal village in the Quneitra region. The strike targeted two Hezbollah vehicles that were operating close to the border with Israel.
Al-Mayadeen, a Hezbollah affiliated news outlet, reported that two Israeli reconnaissance planes were patrolling the area around the time of the strike.

Hezbollah fighters in villages near the border with Israel were put on high alert following the strike. In southern Lebanon and in Beirut, streets emptied and residents feared an escalation.
In response to the strike, Hezbollah vowed retaliation against Israel. “The attack on six Hezbollah members will be answered with a painful and unexpected response, but it can be assumed that it will be controlled so as not to drag into a wide-spread war,” a Hezbollah source told Lebanese newspaper Al-Safir.
The IDF has refused to comment on the incident.

Israel Arrests 7 in ISIS Terror Cell Bust
“But as for those whose heart goes after their detestable things and their abominations, I will bring their deeds upon their own heads, declares the Lord God.” (Ezekiel 11:21)
Charges were pressed on Sunday against seven Israeli-Arab citizens for planning attacks in Israel and for attempting to join ISIS in Syria.
The seven are Adnan Al a-Din (40), Karim Abu-Salah (22), Hosam Marisat (30), Alaa Abu-Salah (27), Faddi Bashir (29), Khalead Abu-Salah (30) and Muhammad Abu-Salah (27).
All are Arabs from the Galilee region in northern Israel. The men were arrested during November and December of 2014, as a result of an investigation led by a joint police and Shin-Bet (Israel’s interior security agency) task force.
ISIS is an illegal organization according to Israeli law and therefore any activity related to the organization is prohibited by law.
The cell was trained in the usage of Molotov cocktail and other makeshift weapons, and the beheading of animals, which were done as preparation for the beheading of infidels as ISIS combatants. In addition, the cell members used the Internet to form a direct connection to ISIS activists in Syria, which also included Israeli citizens who are now ISIS combatants.

The most prominent character within the group was Adnan Al a-Din, a lawyer from Nazareth who used to work as a public defender. A-Din declared himself the official ISIS commander in Palestine and preached carrying out of terror attacks against Jews.
Another group member, Karim Abu-Salah, confessed in his interrogation that he planned to purchase automatic firearms, in order to carry out terror attacks in Israel. His targets included Israel’s security forces and members of the Druze community, especially those with families in Syria.

In addition to planning to carry out terror attacks in Israel, Karim made an attempt to reach Syria and join ISIS. He was arrested at Ben-Gurion Airport last July when he attempted to fly abroad and join ISIS. When he was arrested, Karim was carrying NIS 40,000 (roughly $10,000), which he intended to give to ISIS.

West's Anti-Israel Propaganda Encourages Terror

The West’s progressive circles have been waging an incitement campaign against Israel and Zionism for several years now. Many of the West’s media outlets define what Israel is doing to the Palestinians in general, and in Gaza in particular, as genocide, crimes against humanity and an intentional murder of children and civilians.
Blatant statements against Zionism, Jews and Israel, which usually include blatant and intimidating lies, are considered part of the circle of enlightenment and progress. They are given a platform in newspapers which are considered to be serious.
In the Independent newspaper, Israel was labeled as “a community of child killers.” According to the Newsweek website, Jews endanger world peace.
The average Muslim viewer asks himself, rightfully, how are Western countries letting this crime go on. Why aren’t there much more sanctions against Israel? Why is the United States bombing the Islamic State rather than Israel? Why are economic ties between Israel and Western countries only growing stronger?
Considering the lies being presented in many of the leading media outlets about these unstoppable crimes, these questions are correct.
The Muslim viewer is angry about the hypocrisy, and rightfully so. Try to explain to him that these are lies. Try to explain to him that the Muslims’ problem is not Israel but global jihad and all its branches, from Boko Haram to the Taliban, from Hamas to al-Qaeda. Try to explain to him that in any place with global jihad, the result is destruction and killing and wreckage. Try to explain to him that the Islamic jihad murdered more than 30,000 people in 2014, mostly Muslims. Try to explain to him that radical Islam violates human rights, crushes women and minorities, and is an oppressing regime which results in hundreds of thousands of dead people and millions of refugees.
All these explanations don’t help. Because when it comes to the global media, one receives the opposite impression. About 2,000 people murdered in Nigeria last week by one of the global jihad branches get a marginal reference compared to a young Palestinian who threw stones and was killed by Israeli soldiers.

If this is what happens in leading news outlets, from CNN and the BBC to Le Monde and the New York Times – in the Arab news outlets, led by al-Jazeera, the situation is much worse. Israel is presented as the biggest monster on earth. And the decadent West, which pretends to be advanced and enlightened, cooperates with the monster.
In some cases, this misrepresentation encourages and justifies the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) campaign, whose unconcealed goal is to deny Israel’s right to exist. In other cases, it leads to real action. If the free world is so corrupt, if it doesn’t care about Muslim life, and if, in addition, it mocks Prophet Muhammad of all people – then the terror attack against the Charlie Hebdo newspaper is completely justified.
One of the guests of honor on every Western media channel is Europe’s leading Muslim intellectual, Tariq Ramadan. He has been receiving huge exposure even in the past few days.
We should listen to him. He is against terror. Of course he is. But he immediately goes on to provide justifications for terror.
How is it possible, he asks, that the West and Israel are slaughtering Muslims and no one speaking out? Slaughtering Muslims? Why it’s jihadists who are slaughtering Muslims. But the Ramadan the eel is misleading everyone. Almost every second sentence of his is a distortion, deception or manipulation.
The last person to defeat him in a public debate was Nicolas Sarkozy, before he was elected president in France. But usually the man spreads his doctrine without being undermined. And this doctrine mainly includes an understanding and justification of terror.
So it’s the West’s fault. Because the propaganda of lies against Israel is turning not only Israel, but the entire West, into an accomplice in the crimes against Muslims. The deeper the anti-Israel sentiments, the deeper the anti-Western sentiments. The jihad’s brainwashing machines are not alone. They are backed by the anti-Israel campaign in the media and in the academia.
So terror must be fought. But we must not forget the anti-Israel propaganda of lies. It’s not guilty of terror. It’s only guilty of encouraging terror.

Germany Bracing for Islamic Terror: "Paris Just the First Shot"

According to Der Spiegel, federal and state security agencies have been ordered to locate the whereabouts of up to 250 German Islamists and other “relevant persons” whose identities are known to counter-terrorism authorities.
German police have evidence “that key European cities could be attacked at any time.” — Der Spiegel.
“This is a serious situation.” — German Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere.
“You will pay the price as you walk on your streets, turning right and left, fearing the Muslims. We will conquer your Rome, break your crosses, and enslave your women, by the permission of Allah.” — Jihadist video threatening Italy.
“The Islamists… showed France that they are incapable of democracy and rather look to violence and death as an answer! Our politicians want us to believe the opposite. Must such a tragedy happen here in Germany first???” — Patriotic Europeans against the Islamization of the West [PEGIDA].
The offices of a German newspaper that republished satirical cartoons from Charlie Hebdo, a French magazine known for lampooning Islam, have been hit by arsonists.
No one was hurt in the attack on the Hamburger Morgenpost, which occurred in the early morning hours of January 11 and caused only minor damage.
Although police arrested two individuals in connection with the incident, their identities have not yet been released to the public. But German police said they are “working under the assumption” that the attack was connected to the decision by the paper, also known as MOPO, to republish cartoons spoofing Mohammed on its front page on January 8, as an act of solidarity with the attack on the journalists of Charlie Hebdo.

Our Western Values Are Under Assault

As we in the United States sat in horror, watching Islamic gunmen mow down 17 people in France last week, we were confronted once again with the horrifying knowledge that a clash of civilizations is underway between Western liberal democracies and the world of Islamism.
Many of us first became aware of the disproportionate Islamic rage over any depiction of their prophet in 1988, when Salman Rushdie first published his book Satanic Verses. This fictionalized account of the Prophet Muhammad elicited a fatwa calling for Rushdie’s assassination, forcing the writer into hiding for years. This was the opening salvo on our Western freedoms, fired from Tehran, by none other than the Iranian supreme leader, the late Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini on February 14, 1989.
In 2004, Dutch film-maker Theo van Gogh was assassinated while working on a film with Somalian-born writer Ayaan Hirsi Ali about the treatment of women under Islam. After his murder, a note was pinned to his chest saying “Ayaan, you’ re next.”
On September 30, 2005, Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten published twelve cartoons depicting Muhammad, which resulted in massive riots wherever there was a significant Muslim population. Consequently, approximately 200 people died.
Then, in 2009, Yale University Press published a book about the Danish cartoon case, written by Jytte Klausen and titled “The Cartoons that Shook the World.” The book was to include the controversial cartoons, but in a spineless act of anticipatory self-censorship, Yale University decided to remove the cartoons, the very subject of the book, from the publication.
Sometimes Islamists choose death as a way to muzzle our Western values of freedom of speech, the press and artistic expression. Sometimes they choose methods that may be less fatal to the individual artist or writer, but that are clearly damaging to the fabric of liberal, democratic societies.

How Terrorism Harms Radical Islam

A recent epidemic of high-profile attacks perpetrated by Muslims in the name of Islam — in Canada, Israel, Nigeria, Australia, Pakistan and France — raises an obvious question: How do the Islamist terrorists figure that murdering an honor guard, driving cars into pedestrians, slaughtering non-Muslim bus passengers, taking the patrons of a café hostage and massacring army children and cartoonists will achieve their goal of applying Islamic law and establishing a caliphate?
Logically, their violence only helps if it terrorizes their enemies and compels them to bend to the Islamists’ wishes; intimidation, after all, is the essence of terrorism. Sometimes, Islamist terrorism does achieve this objective. For example, to stay out of trouble, a sizable number of artists have censored themselves on Islam. And the botched government response to the 2004 Madrid train bombings helped the opposition party win an election that led to the withdrawal of Spanish forces from Iraq.
As a rule, however, terrorism usually leads to anger and hostility rather than compliance. Instead of cowing a population, it raises consciousness and provokes hatred for the Islamist cause among Muslims and non-Muslims alike. Rather than advance the Islamist cause, high-profile acts of violence harm it.

Hamas, Palestinian Authority Step Up Human Rights Violations

Israeli strike in Syria kills senior Hezbollah figures

(Reuters) - An Israeli helicopter strike in Syria killed a commander from Lebanon's Hezbollah and the son of the group's late military leader Imad Moughniyah, sources close to Hezbollah said, in a major blow that could lead to reprisal attacks.
The strike hit a convoy carrying Jihad Moughniyah and other Hezbollah members including commander Abu Issa, in the Syrian province of Quneitra, near the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, Lebanese sources said, killing five Hezbollah members in all.
It comes just days after Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah said frequent Israeli strikes in Syria were a major aggression, that the group was stronger than before and that Syria and its allies had the right to respond.
Shi'ite Muslim Hezbollah, which fought a 34-day war with Israel in 2006, has been fighting alongside President Bashar al-Assad's forces in Syria's four-year civil war.
The Hezbollah-run al-Manar news channel said the attack suggested "the enemy has gone crazy because of Hezbollah's growing capabilities and it could lead to a costly adventure that will put the Middle East at stake".
Israel's military declined to comment, but an Israeli security source confirmed to Reuters that the Israeli military had carried out the attack.
It was not immediately clear what role Jihad Moughniyah, in his 20s, was playing in the fighting in Syria.
Hezbollah had accused Israel in 2008 of assassinating his father Imad Moughniyah, who was head of the Hezbollah security network and accused of involvement in high-profile attacks on Western targets. Israel denies any involvement in that killing.
Nabil Boumonsef, a columnist at the Lebanon newspaper an-Nahar, said he believed the strike was a direct response to Nasrallah's speech and could lead to a backlash.
"Killing the son of Moughniyah is dangerous. I do not think that the group can be quiet now, now that the father and the son are killed. I expect that it will do something,” he said.
U.N. peacekeepers intensified their patrols on the border between Lebanon and Israel on Sunday night, local sources said.
RETALIATION THREAT
Al-Manar did not mention Moughniyah or the commander but confirmed that a number of fighters were killed when they were checking an area in Quneitra when there convoy came under Israeli missile attack. It said Hezbollah would announce the names of the dead later.
Quneitra has seen heavy fighting between forces loyal to Assad and rebels including fighters linked to al Qaeda. Syrian state television said six people were killed in the attack and a child was wounded, without giving further details.
Israel has struck Syria several times since the start of the war, mostly destroying weaponry such as missiles that Israeli officials said were destined for Hezbollah, Israel's long-time foe in neighbouring Lebanon.
Syria said last month that Israeli jets had bombed areas near Damascus international airport and in the town of Dimas, near the border with Lebanon.
Imad Moughniyah, who was on the United States' most wanted list for the attacks on Israeli and Western targets, was killed in a car bombing in Damascus in 2008.
He was implicated in the 1983 bombings of the U.S. Embassy and U.S. Marine and French peacekeeping barracks in Beirut, which killed over 350 people, as well as the 1992 bombing of the Israeli embassy in Buenos Aires and the kidnapping of Westerners in Lebanon in the 1980s.
The United States indicted him for his role in planning and participating in the June 14, 1985, hijacking of a U.S. TWA airliner and the killing of an American passenger.
Nasrallah said on Thursday "the frequent attacks on different sites in Syria is a major breach. We consider (those) hostilities (to be) against all the resistance axis."
"(Retaliation) is an open issue ... When this right will be executed is subject to certain criteria ... it could happen any time."
Iran, Syria, Hezbollah and some Palestinian factions consider themselves an "axis of resistance" against Israel.

Report: US Consulate Training, Arming Palestinians as Guards

Three Israeli security guards serving in the US consulate in Jerusalem have quit over plans to hire and arm 35 new Palestinian guards in violation of a 2011 agreement, reported Yedioth Ahronoth Wednesday. The new guards have been training in an American facility in Jericho.

According to the paper, in 2011, the US consulate was permitted to retain about 100 handguns for the use of security staff, on condition those who handled them were Americans or Israel Defense Force veterans. Palestinians from East Jerusalem serve on the consulate’s security staff, but until now, none of them have been armed.

Sources told the paper that began to change a year and a half ago, when Regional Security Officer Dan Cronin began working there. Since then, employees claimed, seven Israelis have been fired, while only one Palestinian has lost his job.

Employees accused Cronin of voicing pro-Palestinian, anti-Israel opinions. “The law in Israel is merely advice to him,” they told the paper. “Cronin does what he wants. He doesn’t want the Israelis in the consulate.

“The consulate’s conduct is extremely biased towards the Palestinian side, and Cronin is actually raising an armed militia of Palestinians in the consulate. They’re trained in weapons use, Krav Maga, and tactical driving. This is irresponsible. Who is ensuring that putting this weaponry in Palestinian hands will not lead to terror?”

According to the unnamed employees, the new guards are being trained in the US as well as Jericho, and some have terrorist connections. Ynetnews (the English edition of Yedioth) reported, “the most senior advisor to the consul general is a Palestinian who served time in Israeli prison because of membership in the PLO.” Another is a relative of a Hamas leader in Jerusalem, Mohammed Hassan Abu Tir, who has served several prison terms in Israel.

The staff also accused the consulate of retaining machine guns and rifles on the premises, which contravenes the agreement, as well.

The consulate refused to respond to the accusations in the media, stating, “The United States’ consulate has complete faith in the professionalism of its staff,. We do not discuss security for our diplomatic delegation, but note that there are many inaccuracies in the claims. Furthermore, we coordinate our work with local authorities in a complete and ongoing manner.”
The consulate refused to elaborate on the alleged inaccuracies.

Israel declared Jerusalem its undivided capital in 1967, after reunifying the city during the Six Day War. Many countries, however, refused to recognize Israel’s claim to the eastern part of the city, and as such keep their embassies in Tel Aviv, maintaining only consular services in Jerusalem.

The Tel Aviv embassy handles Israeli affairs, while the Jerusalem consulate handles Palestinian affairs. As such, ambassadors based in Jerusalem make frequent trips to Area A, the “West Bank” region under Palestinian control which is off-limits to Israelis. They require non-Israeli armed escorts for such trips.

In a traumatic week for Paris that saw the murders of 12 people at the satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo, four hostages killed at a kosher supermarket in Porte de Vincennes, and a police officer executed in Montrouge—all coming at the hands of Islamist terrorists—the violence was accompanied by the usual anti-Israel conspiracy theories.
Brothers Cherif Kouachi and Said Kouachi, the two Muslim terrorists suspected of carrying out the Charlie Hebdo shooting—were killed Friday in a police raid on a printing shop in the Paris suburb of Dammartin-en-Goele, where the Kouachi brothers had taken one man hostage. A separate but simultaneous raid killed Islamist terrorist Amedy Coulibaly, who took nearly 20 hostages at Hyper Cacher (the kosher supermarket) on Friday and had killed a female police officer on Thursday. Fifteen of Coulibaly’s hostages were freed. According to French police, Coulibaly was a close associate of Cherif Kouachi and may have been involved in the Charlie Hebdo attack.
Since the March 2012 attack in which Mohammed Merah killed three children and a rabbi at Jewish school in Toulouse, the threat of Islamic terrorism has not let up for Jews and the general public in France.
“The Jewish community of France is scared, grieving, and fearing for members of its community, for France, and for the values of our Republic,” Simone Rodan-Benazquen, director of the Paris branch of the American Jewish Committee, told JNS.org. “Unfortunately, we are not surprised with what just happened because for 14 years, the Jewish community has been the main target of these barbaric attacks. Targeting French people because they are Jews is attacking the Republic, more than ever, and the last two attacks [on Charlie Hebdo and the kosher supermarket] are once again proof [of that].”

Shots were fired at four Israeli vehicles in Route 465, in the Benjamin Regional Council, on Wednesday evening, January 14. Although no injuries or casualties were sustained, the shooting is an uncommon event that could signify the deterioration of the already fragile sense of security for the residents of Israeli communities in the Benjamin Regional Council.
Tazpit News Agency spoke to Yechiel Kapach, the secretary of the Neve Tzuf (Halamish) community located in the Samaria hills.
“A terror attack that includes shooting is very rare, while stone-throwing terror attacks are much more common. They occur on a daily basis,” Kapach told Tazpit.
“The number of attacks depends on the general political situation in the country. When tension rises we see more terror attacks and when tension goes down we see less.”
Terror attacks include stone-throwing, shooting incidents, firework directed at people and cars as well as usage of Molotov cocktails. Tazpit News Agency reports that during December 2014 there were 27 stone-throwing incidents on the 465 route alone.

The 465 route is used by Israelis and Palestinians alike. It starts in the Benjamin Regional Council and crosses the green-line at the Rantis Checkpoint. Kapach told Tazpit News Agency that “the second you cross the Rantis Check point, it’s the wild wild west.”
“There is a real problem of sovereignty and enforcement of the Israeli law. We feel the lack of sovereignty in civil issues such as driving or illegal building for example, and it projects onto security issues,” he pointed out.
Kapach also added that Neve-Tzuf’s inhabitants felt so disappointed by the IDF’s inability to control security related incidents, that they started their own civil guard.
“I hope Israel can strengthen its sovereignty and enforce Israeli law so that real security will prevail.”

Hamas Blames "Zionist Lobby" for New Charlie Hebdo Cover

Governments and Islamic authorities across the Middle East have denounced the latest issue of the satirical French magazine Charlie Hebdo after its decision to depict the Prophet Mohammed on its cover.
Egyptian religious authority Dar al-Iftaa said on Tuesday that the new cartoon is “an unjustified provocation to the feelings of the 1.5 billion Muslims around the world, who love and respect the prophet.”
A spokesperson from the Iranian Foreign Ministry condemned the attack on the French publication but was quoted as saying in a Bloomberg report, “We disapprove of provocative moves and this weekly’s undertaking is insulting and will provoke the feelings of Muslims.”
The Gaza-based Hamas terror group denounced the French magazine, asserting that its publication was part of a global conspiracy led by the anti-Muslim “Zionist lobby.”
“We condemn the latest publication of Charlie Hebdo, which has caricatures offending the Prophet Mohammed,” spokesman Fawzi Barhoum stated, according to Channel 10 news.

“The way the Israeli newspapers have dealt with the issue, with the blessing of the US secretary of state, is clear evidence that there is a plot, directed by the Zionist lobby, targeting Muslims, their culture, and the tolerance toward them by Western countries.”
Barhoum added that the latest issue of Charlie Hebdo is “a dangerous act.” He said that “all these campaigns against Islam, the Muslims and the Prophet Mohammed must end.”

The new issue of Charlie Hebdo is the first publication of the magazine following a terror attack last week carried out by radical Islamist Cherif and Said Kouachi. In total, 12 people were killed in the attack. The brothers declared the attack as revenge for the various time the weekly magazine has published cartoon depicting Mohammed.
The attack was followed by the murders of four Jewish shoppers at a kosher supermarket in Paris on Friday in a second terror attack by a co-conspirator of the Kouachi brothers.
The twin terror attacks drew global condemnation and prompted a unity rally in the French capital, where it is estimated 1.6 million people attended. The march was led by 50 world leaders and diplomats, including Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Across France, people lined up hours before the release of the magazine. While an initial 3 million copies of Charlie Hebdo were printed on Wednesday, they sold out within the first few hours of its release. Publishers printed an additional 2 million copies to meet the demand.
The cover depicted a weeping prophet holding up a sign that reads, “Ju suis Charlie” (I am Charlie) under the headline, “All is forgiven.”

Analysis: Killing Their Voices - Murdering Critics of Islam Okayed by Shaira Law

Last Wednesday’s terrorist attack against the Charlie Hebdo magazine in Paris shocked the world. A satirical magazine known for printing images of Muhammad, which is against Sharia law, the magazine has been threatened over the years by various terror and Islamist groups to stop or suffer the consequences.
The attack on the magazine, which left 12 people dead, is an attack by radical Islamists on the West’s ideals of freedom of speech. The terrorists who carried out the Charlie Hebdo attack were in line with a method of thinking that is becoming all the more popular among Muslims around the world.
Proscribed by numerous Islamic states and various Islamist groups, the terrorists believed that Sharia law should be implemented under any circumstances where the honor of the prophet Mohammed is seen to be ‘insulted’.
Over the last few years, numerous regimes and religious entities in Muslim countries have given out the death penalty for any person believed to have publicly critiqued Islam, Mohammed or even the government. Claiming that all such behavior is anti-Islam, these Islamist regimes have started a war on the basic human privilege known as freedom of expression.

In Arab and Muslim countries, defaming Islam and the Prophet Muhammad is still defined as an offense against Sharia Law and entails heavy punishment. Recent examples of the enforcement of such laws have included the arrest of Saudi intellectual Dr. Turki Al-Hamad and Saudi blogger Hamza Kashgari; the arrest of another Saudi liberal, Raef Badawi, who was sentenced to public flogging; and both Mauritanian blogger Mohamed Cheikh Ould Mkhaitir and Iranian blogger Soheil Arabi, who were sentenced to death.
Mohamed Cheikh Ould Mkhaitir was sentenced to death for writing an article on January 14, 2014, in which he criticized some decisions that the Prophet and his Companions took during their military conquests. He applied and used these examples to implicitly criticize Mauritania for allowing a discriminatory caste system. The result was that on December 24, 2014, a court in Mauritania convicted him of apostasy and sentenced him to being shot to death, even though he publicly disavowed insulting Muhammad.
As for Iranian Soheil Arabi, he was arrested in January 2014 by the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps for insulting the Prophet on his Facebook page. He has been incarcerated in Evin prison for about a year. An Iranian court sentenced him to death, but in December 2014 the sentence was suspended, possibly due to pressure by Iranian human rights activists abroad. However, according to various activists, his sentence may be carried out after all. According to those same sources, Arabi has been threatened not to disclose any information about his legal status.

More recently, Saudi authorities began to carry out the punishment for Raef Badawi. As of January 9, the government began dishing out lashes incurred by Badawi, who is a co-founder of the Saudi Liberal Network online forum. His sentence, 1,000 lashes, is to be meted out in weekly installments of 50 lashes every Friday after prayers in front of a Jeddah mosque. In addition, Badawi is to serve 10 years in jail and a fine of 1,000,000 riyals (about $267,000). His crime? “Harming Islam” and committing Internet crimes. Human rights organizations have criticized the sentence. US State Department spokesperson Jen Psaki called Badawi’s sentence “brutal” and urged Saudi authorities to overturn it.
According to the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI), the various punishments inflicted on these men for speaking their minds is straight out of the Koran. In a recently published report, MEMRI explains:

“According to the Sharia, defaming the Prophet is an act of blasphemy, the punishment for which is death even if the blasphemer repents. This law is Koranic, for Koran 9:61 says: “Those who hurt Allah’s Messenger will have a painful punishment.” The same Surah also states: “…Say: ‘(Go ahead and) mock! But certainly Allah will bring to light all that you fear. If you ask them (about this), they declare: ‘We were only talking idly and joking.’ Say: ‘Was it at Allah and His verses and His Messenger that you were mocking? Make no excuse; you have disbelieved after you had believed. [Koran 9:64-66].’”
The question that remains is how long will it take for Western countries to realize that they are not dealing with simply a bunch of radicals, but with a culture that not only condones such actions as were seen in France last week, but promotes and encourages them – even commands it.
While it is rare to see such acts of terror in Western countries that are not mandated by Sharia Law, it is sadly commonplace among Muslim countries. What are clearly acts of terror in the West are in reality run of the mill legal battles in Islamic countries. The sickening part of it all is what happens when Islam succeeds at silencing all of its critics, both internal and external.
Even ‘moderate’ countries such as Egypt, whose President came out and decried the status of radical Islam on the international level, have their less liberal and more mainstream religious elements calling for a cessation of all depictions of the prophet, even by western media.
Should the attacks in France then come as a shock? Perhaps. Or maybe it is a wake up call to the West to get them to realize that these Muslim radicals are simply trying to enforce their version of the Sharia Law in Western countries.

Responding to Terrorists Who Seek to Uproot the Jewish Nation

In Genesis, God gave Isaac the commandment to work and cultivate the land.

Because Isaac physically cared for the land of Israel, God blessed him with one hundred times as much as the expected yield. Israel Trees believes that when the land of Israel itself is cultivated, God will bless the land and the Jewish nation exponentially.

In addition, a member of Erdoğan’s ruling Justice and Development Party, Ibrahim Melih Gökçek, told a gathering of youths on Sunday that because Israel is angry with France for supporting a recent Palestinian statehood resolution at the United Nations, it is “certain” that Israel’s Mossad spy agency is behind the recent Islamist terrorist attacks in Paris.

“Torah Sage and General” details Rabbi Goren’s life describing how he took part in some of Israel’s most crucial moments. The cover of the book even displays perhaps the most famous photo of Rabbi Goren blowing the shofar when he was present at the liberation of the Western Wall, during the Six Day War in 1967.
Rabbi Goren was one of the first people to race to the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hebron when the Israeli army captured it in 1967. Pushing himself to be the first to reach these holy sites was typical of Rabbi Goren.

Terrorists Leaving "Moderate" Hamas for Hardline ISIS

Security officials in Israel estimate hundreds of local terrorists are leaving Hamas’s service for the Islamic State (ISIS), reports Israel National News. Following the discovery in November of an ISIS cell in Hebron, south of Jerusalem, investigators say these religious extremists are dissatisfied with Hamas’s stance and are looking for a more hardline approach.
Ahmed Wadah Salah Shehada (22), leader of the Hebron cell, told Israel Security Service (Shin Bet) investigators that he switched organizations because Hamas was too “moderate” for him, in that it did not enforce Sharia law, according to a Channel 2 reported referenced by INN.

US Aid to PA to be Cut Over ICC Bid?

US senators from both parties threatened to “re-examine” US aid to the Palestinian Authority over the weekend, following the PA’s bid to join the International Criminal Court for the purpose of bringing war-crime charges against Israel, reported Israel HaYom.
On Tuesday of last week, United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon announced that the Palestinians would be joining the ICC as of April. In response, U.S. Senators Mark Kirk (R-Ill.), Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), Robert Menendez (D-N.J.), Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) released a joint statement on Friday condemning the unilateral move.
“The Palestinian Authority’s decision to join the International Criminal Court (ICC) is deplorable, counterproductive, and will be met with a strong response by the United States Congress. … Existing U.S. law makes clear that if the Palestinians initiate an ICC judicially authorized investigation, or actively support such an investigation, all economic assistance to the PA must end.

Israel’s ZAKA Volunteers Join Paris Colleagues at Terror Site

On Sunday evening, January 11, ZAKA International Rescue Unit head Mati Goldstein and veteran ZAKA volunteer Dano Monkotovitz immediately flew out to Paris to the site of the supermarket terror attack that left four Jewish hostages dead.
Volunteers from ZAKA Paris, under the command of Rabbi Tzemach (Serge) Ben Naim, had already been working at the scene for several hours, collecting remains and working to ensure a full Jewish burial for the victims; Yoav Hattab, 21, Yohan Cohen, 22, Philippe Braham, and Francois-Michel Saada.

Jaw Dropping New Israeli Medical Procedure Saves Syrian Wounded in Civil War

A revolutionary new medical technique was implemented in Israel’s Rambam Medical Center for the first time. A titanium jaw was surgically implanted into a 23 year old Syrian citizen whose jaw had been hit by a bullet.
The Syrian was wounded in fighting caused by the civil war and came to Israel for medical treatment. His lower jaw had been completely destroyed by the bullet. He suffered from a torn and smashed jaw as well as having his bottom teeth blown out.
“The Rambam doctors outfitted him with a custom-made jaw in a pioneering new operation, which returned his human quality,” a statement from the hospital read.
